Casa Vigil (El Enemigo)

$$$$expensive
Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Casa Vigil, also known as El Enemigo, is a renowned winery in Mendoza owned by Catena and winemaker Alejandro Vigil. The establishment offers an exceptional experience with detailed property tours and exquisite 7-course wine-paired tasting dinners. Visitors praise the impeccable service provided by knowledgeable staff members such as Alexandra, Sol & Ana. The menu includes options for both meat-eaters and vegans, all of which are described as outstanding.
We did a tour of El Enemigo on April 16/25. What a beautiful place to visit! This winery is a testament to the hard work of Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena. The grounds are beyond beautiful... I kept thinking they should host weddings there... but that would take away from the serenity of the place. So much to see, including heaven and hell. And the wine! We really enjoyed our tastings. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and gracefully answered our many questions. We ended up purchasing several bottles..or cases (?) to bring back to Canada. We really enjoyed our experience there.

We visited this winery for lunch and wine tasting in March 2025 from the UK. The service, food and wine were all exemplary. They went completely out of their way to support me when I lost my passport, and even contacted the tourist police and liaised with them on my behalf. I cannot thank them enough and am incredibly grateful for their kindness and understanding. I can't wait to return in the future, and only wish I lived nearer! Highly recommend

Visiting Casa Vigil was an amazing experience. The place is beautiful, the food is delicious (and not too expensive for what it is) and the service is exceptional. Gian, Bruno, and the new sommelier (whose name I can't remember right now, sorry!) were super kind, knowledgeable, and just great to hang out with. To anyone visiting Mendoza and looking to drink some wine and have a good time, this is the place.
Tanezuki S — Google review
Outside: -5/10 Inside the restaurant: 15/10 Outside review: We arrived at 11:20am for our 11:30am reservation. We were told to take a seat outside and wine would be served to us while we waited…sounds lovely. However 30 minutes later, no wine, no tour, no communication. 45 minutes later…still nothing. 1 hour later we hunted down the hostess to tell her we had a 3:30pm reservation 45 minutes away and we were now concerned we would be late for it as we didn’t want to rush a Michelin star lunch. She said she would tell the restaurant of our timing needs and sat us at the restaurant with no tour. We still don’t know what happened and why we waited for an hour in the cold… Inside (restaurant) review: Literally the opposite of outside. WOW WOW WOW. The food!! The service!!! Leo is the king. His hospitality is genuinely unmatched. He went above and beyond so many times. I unfortunately missed the Som’s name but he might be my favorite som I’ve encountered in life so far- so knowledgeable, so approachable, soooo good at describing wines visually and verbally. And his energy is muy muy tranquilo in the best way. I’m not a big flesh person in general but the rib was EXQUISITE. Leo also brought us a little side of the pasta which was delectable as well. And the deserts were the icing on the proverbial cake. 10/10 for food, 20/10 for service. One more note against the host — she said she would let the restaurant know we were on a tight timeline (that she made tight, not us 🙄) and she didn’t. We let Leo know and he moved heaven and earth to get us our desserts and check in time to not be too late, but I *know* he would have timed us perfectly if she told him like she said she would. She did him and us a disservice. Also, nothing was ever said about the missed tour or the hour-long wait to be seated, but holy smokes did the restaurant work to turn our experience around. They deserve all of the stars. Now if only they could train the staff outside to be at their level… TLDR: We were there 3.5 hours and they had to RUSH our dessert because the hostess didn’t do her job. For an expensive meal (that was *incredible*), it’s rather inexcusable. I will update this review if they reach out in any way.
Dana B — Google review
Casa Vigil Mendoza felt more like a brand showroom since nothing is actually produced on-site. The visit was poorly organized and the tour was over in a flash. We tasted three wines and were given just two crackers with their olive oil. For 100 USD per person, it did not feel worth it, especially considering I visited other wineries in the area for half the price and enjoyed a much deeper, more engaging experience. Perhaps having lunch there during the tour, even at double the price, would have been a better choice.
Lucas C — Google review
One question: how does this place have a Michelin star??? Absolutely horrendous service and management. It’s a total tourist trap that’s not up to Michelin standards. I never leave reviews but this experience has compelled me to write this. Food wasn’t bad at all but it was way overpriced. We got our wine “pairings” an hour before each course came out. Is it normal to wait an hour between courses? Other tables took precedence over us, water refills were few and far between. The manager didn’t seem to care about making it right, only offered us to come back and try again. It’s one thing to suck but is another thing to suck and not attempt to make it right. Finally, we spoke to someone who was willing to take some accountability and apologize which was much appreciated. My wife and I will never recommend this place to anyone and specifically tell people to avoid it. We should have got a sandwich and bottle of wine from a kiosko instead.
William S — Google review
One of my best dining experiences while in Mendoza. Service is impeccable. Food presentation is outstanding.
LF L — Google review
We had a 3 course tasting with the 3 enemigos wine pairing for $130 each. The appetiser and main were amazing. The dessert was meh at best. I had the carpaccio and rib eye then the cheesecake. There is a sommelier on site to assist with your pairing or questions 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We had a wonderful tour of SinFin. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly, and the wines were superb. It was satisfying to tour a smaller winery; it felt more personal. I highly recommend a wine tour and tasting at this winery.
Paul S — Google review
SinFin is a beautiful family run vineyard with exquisite wines. Our guide Arqui spoke fluent English, was very personable and shared much information on the wine production and SinFin’s history. We were highly impressed with his hospitality towards children. He explained the process from grape to glass in understandable language, enabling our six year old daughter to be able to access the tour too. When it came to the very generous tastings, our daughter was given a juice and a variety of Argentinian cookies. Along with the opportunity to feed turtles and fish, this ended up being a fabulous child-friendly vineyard! We would recommend this to all visitors across from across the world. As for wine- the Sauvignon Blanc was exceptional!
Abigail G — Google review
Augustina was funny, charming, and full of energy which made the visit just wonderful! This family owned winery has small but good collection of Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, cabarnet Frank, and more. You will spend 2 hours min and enjoy the history, the wine tasting and some trivia!
Ella D — Google review
SinFin was the only winery we visited that was actually producing wine during the tour, we had the opportunity to watch the grapes being crushed and the raw grape juice being transported. Maria Eugenia and Montserrat were wonderful hosts, making for a very entertaining and lighthearted tasting.
Job H — Google review
The young lady Agustina (Guss) really made the tasting and experience fun. She was informative, passionate and a great speaker. Credit to the business.

(Translated by Google) Very good place to go with your family or friends and explore the Salinas that today the Dos Anchors company operates. Very nice tour to take by car and enjoy with the family a different place, it would seem like you were on another planet. Nature expresses itself and the Salinas are huge, very nice, a little smaller than those in the north but very pleasant, a nice excursion to go out. Highly recommended to do it during the day and take advantage of the sunset in the salt flat. Be careful where you walk because sometimes there are big cracks. It is advisable to go on Sunday when there is little truck work activity in the area. No entrance is needed and on Twitter you enter with your car directly. (Translated by Google) I loved the place; it has a lot of history. Located in the province of San Luis, from Route 7, heading toward Mendoza, turn south and there are about 5 km of paved road. There's a small tourist information office and a well-maintained parking lot. From there, you walk 100 meters to access the salt hills, incredible. It's a barren landscape, not a single weed grows, but it's impressive. From this place, salt is supplied to all of Argentina. They let you climb and walk around the salt hills. Just another part of our great country. It's a beautiful experience, I highly recommend it.

Nestled in the heart of Argentina, Parque Nacional Sierra de las Quijadas is a breathtaking destination that showcases stunning landscapes and serene heights. (Translated by Google) We visited it with my family, good service at reception, we only did the short self-guided trails (of which there are two), very well marked and easy to navigate. Both the cafeteria and the bathrooms in that part were not open, which complicated their use since they were only available at the entrance to the park, which is 6km from the parking lot. It is a beautiful place and we wanted to take the guided tour to the traces of the past but there was a lot of wind and the guide told us that perhaps small children would not have a good time, so we took his advice. And that speaks well of them that they charge to make that journey.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful experience to reach the coin jump. We went along the path from the stream along the river and even crossing the river. In my experience it is more fun with much more shade and they don't charge you. On the other side it is signposted and they charge you between 5 thousand pesos per person. The path is easier there but there is no shade, you will die from the heat in summer. The only good thing is that you can drive up to a certain point and then you start walking. But actually coasting the river makes it more entertaining. There are dogs in the area that literally guide you and you don't get lost. And if you don't ask the firefighters and they tell you to always follow the river on the right side. The walk lasts an hour or an hour and a half depending on each person. Then the place invites you to rest and cool off in its deep waters. Excellent experience! It can be done with children. Exelente experiencia! Se puede hacer con niños.

(Translated by Google) The road by car is quite neglected. When you start the trail they write down your information and also when you leave. The entrance cost us $4000 per person. The trail is of medium difficulty and there is another of easy difficulty. In the first pot there is a lot of shade, in the second there is almost no shade but it is the one with the waterfall. I recommend going early because the walk in the sun is very hard and in order to find a place, it gets very crowded. Cap and lots of sunscreen. There are beautiful views along the trail, you can see the entire pasture.

Hiking Trails
Cascada Grande is a picturesque waterfall located in La Cumbrecita, accessible via a 15-minute walk through the mountains. While not the most impressive waterfall, it offers a lovely sight, especially if visited early to avoid crowds. The hike is relatively easy and suitable for families and people of all ages. There are ample photo opportunities along the way. Some visitors found the hike fun and enjoyable, while others wished for easier access to get closer to the falls.
It's not the most amazing waterfall but it's very pretty if you can get there early enough to avoid the crowds. We were lucky enough to leave what was already a fairly crowded area just a few minutes before what I assume was a bus load of people. The viewing area was crowded with 10 people. I cannot imagine what it would have been like with the 50 people we saw heading there as we left. But the waterfall was lovely, coming into a little pool at the bottom. I assume you could swim there if you didn't mind the cold water. As for the trail, while it had some steeper parts and was a little tricky at times, it wasn't the death march that many have described. We're not spring chickens but managed it from the trail head in less than 30 minutes with minimal fuss. Getting down to the pool below was very steep however. Do not confuse this with a different waterfall which is much further away and requires a long hike to get there. Tourist office do not mention that one. This one is on the map they give you.

great walk up to the falls! Remember you can not drive in Cumbrecita so it is about a 45 min walk to the falls from outside of town. Totally worth it. We had our 6 year old with us and he loved climbing up the rocks. We took a 1/2 way break in town where there are lots of local foods and shops to grab a snack/water or just a break before headed up the falls. On the way home there was a bus that brought us back to where we parked the car which was nice after hiking and swimming all day. Highly recommend this area, it was gorgeous.

La Olla is a picturesque destination near the town, offering ideal spots for trout fishing at Lake of the Trout and Rio del Medio. The surrounding mountains provide unique locations for this activity. Despite its popularity leading to crowded high seasons and occasional littering, La Olla's natural beauty remains undeniable. Visitors can enjoy a refreshing swim in the cold waters during low season, while taking in the breathtaking views and relaxing atmosphere.
Such a beautiful location without a difficult path of arrival! Take into consideration that it is $8,000 pesos (per car) to enter La Cumbrecita and park to then walk to La Olla. Weather permitting, sweet spot to take a dip in the water! Pet friendly is a big plus.

Nestled in a stunning natural setting, Cabañas del Peñón offers an enchanting escape with five rustic cabins that blend seamlessly into the woodsy landscape. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and take a refreshing dip in the infinity pool while soaking up breathtaking views. The cabins are spacious and comfortable, featuring heating and well-functioning showers for a cozy stay.
(Translated by Google) The place is wonderful, the house is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. There is heating, the shower works perfectly. The view is incredible... We couldn't use the pool, because we had to arrive in the rain and in Autumn. The road to get there is a little complicated (and was made a little more complicated by the rain), but you can go up by car perfectly. I then recommend walking to get to each place, and not going up and down with the car, every time. Be that as it may, the place is a dream, it is worth staying here if you are in La Cumbrecita. Super recomendable. Espero volver algún día.

They can give you a lot of information about excursions and places to eat, drink and buy souvenirs. A word of advice though, going up the clock tower is completely overrated. The views are not very good and, with the windows closed, the heat is unbearable. And they charge you for this experience!

Not worth the hike. Nice, but nothing special, especially if you arrive on foot. Other rivers are more accessible.

First I've been attacked by the horse which wanted some food and then the dog bit in my ear. Besides that, the beach and the water were really clean and good to reach.

(Translated by Google) A very interesting place! The neighborhood where it is located is beautiful and is close to García Lorca Park. The house shows the personal belongings and history of the greatest Spanish composer, who died right in this house. The museum is municipal so the entrance fee is ridiculous, if you went to the Che Museum or the Dubois you can enter with the same ticket. (Original) Un lugar muy interesante! (Translated by Google) Another nice museum in the city, the location is spectacular and the views are incredible. The service is super friendly, they usually have guided tours in the afternoons. The “chalet” museum and its construction is incredible. The museum not only keeps important data about Falla but also tells the story of why many people moved to Alta Gracia. It is also set to music with the works of this artist. The ticket can be purchased on site, and there is also a pack that allows you to visit several museums.

The Museo del Che Guevara in Alta Gracia is a small house where the revolutionary spent part of his childhood. The museum showcases photos and artifacts related to his life, offering visitors a glimpse into his early years and personal belongings as a child. It also provides insight into Che Guevara's struggles with asthma, which he endured throughout his life.
Amazing place to visit! I had no idea Che Guevara was Argentinian, nor much about his complex history with the continent, but left feeling super informed and very glad to have visited. A must!

I was surprised to find a museum dedicated to Che Guevara in Córdoba. It's a very interesting one because this was the place where Che Guevara spent his childhood and teens.

It's about an hour from Cordoba to Alta Gracia bus station. The coffee and Patatas dulce were very tasty. It's a 16 min walk to the house where he grew up. The museum is arranged in chronological order. Each room has a bief explanation in English and Spanish, along with furniture, clothes, pictures and his famous bike. 1st room displays his room when he was a child, then when he grew up with asthma, and despite that he played rugby and was active, to his 2 trips to S. America, where he noted the social difference among people, to his studies where he became a doctor, then how he obtain the name Ché, to his volunteering in overthrowing the government with Castro in Cuba, to his meetings with world leaders, assuming various roles in the government, and his second family and kids, to the failed attempt to export the revolution to Congo, and, finally to his capture and death in Bolivia.

If you are in cordoba definitely visit Alta gracia and go to the Che Guevara museum. It’s very educational it has a lot of his personal belongings as a child and it goes through his life’s journey. With the admission of 1 museum you get access to 2 other museums as well. It’s also a beautiful small town to spend the day.
Eldar — Google review
Covers his childhood and university days as a medical student. Of course his amazing early adventures on motorised bicycle (4000 km) and later his bigger adventure on motorcycle across South America. Later his freedom fighter efforts to fight for better conditions in poor nations and Cuba.
David F — Google review
Indeed, very interesting to see how Ché once lived. And afterwards, a mojito at the writer Hector's house next door. Both an experience not to be missed if you stay in Cordoba or the surrounding area.

Excelente; Ernesto Che Guevara's hectic life has always been interesting and in the house where his family lived during his childhood in Alta Gracia we discovered another aspect of his life: his teenage worries. We started a guided walk from the downtown to the neighborhood called Carlos Pellegrini, passing by Sierras Hotel and several other houses where Che lived. Belén, our guide, gave us family details that became known over the years. We arrived in Villa Nydia, a simple house with a typical gallery from Córdoba and wide rooms which the Guevara family inhabited for many years. There, the fresh and dry air of Córdoba allowed young Ernesto to get better from his chronic asthma.

An excellent museum cataloging Che Guevara’s life as a youngster in Alta Gracia and his life as an adult. The museum is in his childhood home. Excellent exhibition.
