Beautiful, tranquil, central, and historic. A must-see if staying in Fortaleza. Great for couples and families with children. About a 10 minute walk from the Metropolitan Cathedral of Fortaleza and close to numerous other sites and areas. Highly recommend!

It is a Nice place for art. Unfortunately the Spots and the places are Not Very good indicated, we got a little bit Lost.
Elisa C — Google review
The whole facilities are under major upgrading at the moment. There is in fact not much to see now.
Desmond H — Google review
The place was staffed, but closed for reconstruction and no indication of that prior to have saved the trip going there. According to the Uber Driver they want to open in two month (November 2025) again, but from the progress of the reconstruction (none), that seems to be very ambitious. Beside that, the area is not safe to walk and there’s nothing much else to do. All in all, it was a great disappointment.
Andreas K — Google review
In need of maintenance/update. Too little expositions. Stores closed. No energy at this place unfortunately. Expected a little more.
ScotchRacer — Google review
The exhibitions were cool! But it was hard to get around there because there weren't any signs. There's a nice looking cafe, but it opens at 3pm. It was very empty during day time but that was nice.

If you think this a centre for art and culture, which would reasonable when that's what its name is - you are wrong! It's a cinema AND a planetarium. Nothing else going on here.

The beach is beautiful, well-maintained, and perfect for walking, relaxing, or just enjoying the scenery. I tried incredible tapioca and refreshing coconut water while watching the sunset... priceless! 😍 I felt safe the whole time, and the atmosphere is very family-friendly. It's also super well-located, close to good hotels and other tourist spots. Definitely a place I would return to again and again. Highly recommended!

(Translated by Google) This place is magnificent for walking, sunbathing and swimming. From early on they prepare the umbrellas and chairs to be able to enjoy the beach day that begins very early since at 5 p.m. The sun is already beginning to set. The beach falls sharply and this means that you can swim in the sea that is clean and warm. I want to emphasize that the water is very pleasant and does not leave your skin sticky. What caught my attention is that there is only one lifeguard who walks along the shore from end to end. This may be why swimmers enter the sea with a type of float tied to their waist with a strap. The water temperature is magnificent and gives me the feeling of swimming in a heated pool. They constantly clean the sand of waste and provide you with a bag for collecting it. Along it there are stalls with a wide variety of drinks and also products to eat. The sunset is wonderful and leads you to take many photos.

I would not recommend this place AT ALL! it is the worst beach I've been to in my life and I've been around the world. It smells like sewage and feces which is unbearable. Also as many people mentioned there is someone trying to sell you something every 2 mins..

Beautiful beach with all the power the ocean has to offer on display, careful about hanging around after dark
Gabriele F — Google review
Be careful, there are some areas where you have to pay for the table and chairs. Ask before you sit down. I think it’s a scam to pay for the table
Sven G — Google review
Lots of water, I don't recommend drinking it though, cuz it might taste a little salty. The sand tastes alright though
Davi S — Google review
Awesome beach for relaxing and enjoying the beach clubs there. The water isn't the best for a swim due to waves and clarity.
Raul A — Google review
Nice beach, but you need to pay attention on possible, though not probable, thefts. Don't be fooled by the constant winds (especially between August and October) or even partly cloudy days: the sun is treacherous and really burns here. Take tons of sunscreen with you.
Michael R — Google review
Very good beach. Maybe the best one in Fortaleza. However, you have to be careful for the criminals. There are a lot of pickpockets, stickups and armed robbery. It is safe if you come only for a bath and enjoy the sun without anything in your hands or inside your pockets. Bring only your hotel key and nothing else.

Arena Castelão is a renowned soccer stadium with a seating capacity of over 60,000. It features a two-tiered structure and a roof, making it an impressive venue for sports events. The stadium first opened in 1973 and has since undergone renovations, solidifying its status as one of the top sports arenas in the state. With its rich history and modern facilities, Arena Castelão continues to host exciting matches and provide an unforgettable experience for fans.
Great and modern stadium, facilities are good. Plan to get there early as there is a lot of traffic on match days and it will take much longer than usual. Access was easy and uncomplicated. There were no assigned seat, only sections. Everyone was standing. Overall great experience!

Arena Castelão — officially known as Estádio Governador Plácido Aderaldo Castelo — is located in Fortaleza, Brazil. It was one of the main venues for both the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Here are a few key facts about it: •   Renovation and modernization: Originally built in 1973, it underwent major renovations between 2010 and 2012 to meet FIFA standards. •   Capacity: Around 63,000 spectators. •   Design: The renovation added a new roof, improved stands, better access, and sustainable features like rainwater reuse and solar panels. •   Technology: In recent years, Castelão introduced facial recognition technology at its gates, enhancing both security and entry efficiency for fans — a first among some major Brazilian stadiums. •   Use today: It’s home to local football clubs such as Ceará SC and Fortaleza EC, and still hosts large concerts and events.

Great Family-Friendly Beach Spot with Aqua Park We had a lovely time visiting this beach — it’s a fantastic destination for families. The beach itself is very clean, safe, and spacious, offering plenty of room for both swimming and playing. Water is Cristal clear. Just a heads-up: if you want to sit at a table with chairs near the beach, there is a fee. There are two seating options available: VIP Area – Costs ₹900 just for the table; food and drinks are charged separately. Regular Area – Costs $90 for the table, but you can use as many chairs as needed, which is perfect if you’re visiting with a larger group. Charges for table use usually begin between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM, depending on the day. Beach Aqua Park — fun for all ages! The entry fee varies by season; in July, it was $300 per person. Toilets are clean and tegere is a cleaner who is there all day. Food is great as well but you need to expect to pay more than if you would eat outside. We actually found a great place to eat nearby it was cheaper than on the beach . All in all, a great place to relax and enjoy a family day out by the water.
Rihards K — Google review
Going to the Beach Park in Fortaleza is an experience that I would recommend across the board. They are one of the largest water parks in the world with attractions that span the range from low to extreme intensity. I’ve had the opportunity to go there a few times as a child and went again now as an adult and it was just as fun as I remembered. Good: 1 - Excellent service. Employees are polite and knowledgeable. 2 - Lot’s of food options. 3 - Queues are not too long. 4 - Several options of attractions. 5 - Great layout with distribution of food/beverage kiosks, high/low intensity rides and pools distributed throughout. 6 - Easy access from hotel complexes. To Improve: 1 - The power went out when I was there. It took around 10 minutes for the attraction I was at to normalize. This is lack of proper engineering or configuration of the backup systems. A diesel generator should kick-in and stabilize within 1 minute of a power outage. Moreover, given that power to the attractions is essential to the proper operation of the park, they should have a UPS battery backup to sustain the park for a duration long enough for generators to kick in. 2 - The meat/bacon burger at the Beach Burger kiosk was bad. Dry and hard. Almost inedible. The chicken option was much better. 3 - A few attractions were closed. I understand this can happen. However, this needs to be informed extremely well to park goers. Ideally in a language that humanizes the situation. “Sorry, our pump is sick today but the attraction will be up in x days”. 4 - The lazy river was weaker than I expected. There were less pumps on? 5 - The Hupa/Hopa was not doing the water discharge to speed up the attraction as it used to. 6 - No way to keep track of time when around park since there are no clocks. Add some? Even though I am giving the park a 5-star review, I hope that the feedback can be put to use. If Beach Park plans on becoming “the Disney of Brazil” nothing short of perfect is enough.
Paulo — Google review
The toys are really nice, and the park is well maintained. Quite safe for kids. Though i believe the park is more enjoyable for kids older than 10. I give 2 stars because they made me lose 1h15m advertising a travel package scheme that i didn’t want to sign. I arrived at 1pm and the park closes at 5pm, so i lost 30EUR! (3 adults 2 children). Also they messed up my tickets. Because i didn’t have to pay for an autistic child companion and they made me pay. Both employees were rude and didn’t inform me correctly. So in the end i only enjoyed 2h45min.
Fernando M — Google review
The beach is absolutely amazing and the water park has a lot of attractions. Also it is not that busy so the waiting time is decent.
Andreea T — Google review
The beach park offers a vast expanse with a wide array of activities suitable for a diverse age range spanning from three-year-olds to those in their sixties. Our visit to the park took place on a weekend, and despite the large crowd, waiting times for most activities were surprisingly short. Safety was a top priority, evident in the presence of numerous vigilant lifeguards stationed throughout the park. They were extremely dedicated to their roles. Personally, my most exhilarating experience was the "Insano," which provided a thrilling adrenaline rush.

Coastal stop known for its labyrinthine eroded cliffs & multiple types of sand in different colors.

Clay Cliffs along the beach! The cliffs of reddish, sandy clay that rise above Morro Branco beach are beautiful. The parade of waves we see in the distance washes endlessly against the lower layers of the Beberibe Cliffs, while wind and rain batter the upper reaches. There is slow erosion or sudden landslips and this Brazilian natural monument is continually crumbling away. Only guided tours are allowed here.

The cliffs aren’t here despite the photos! It’s a beautiful beach surrounded by what look like party houses, but the drive is a rough one (the most fun part of heading this way 😅) over rocky roads and wet red sand. Worth the trip. You need to rent a buggy with driver to guide you to these beaches and sights. Great for pictures but not swimming.

Natural Monument of Beberibe Cliffs

Nature & Parks
Park
The Natural Monument of Beberibe Cliffs is a breathtaking stretch of protected cliffs and dunes that offer stunning views of the beach. This geological paradise is a must-visit for enthusiasts, although it's advisable to research the rock formation beforehand as local guides may lack knowledge in this area. Arriving early in the morning is recommended to avoid crowds from tours later in the day. The site boasts a wonderful story and visitors can enjoy the humorous and lively commentary of tour guide Wesley.
Absolutely stunning. If you are interested in geology, this is paradise but I suggest you read about the rocks formation before you visit because local guides often don't know much about the geological formation of the area. Also, try to get there early in the morning as it is full of tours from 11 onwards. Highly recommended

If you want a day of admiring natural beauty, take a tour to this place! The natural occuring cliffs offer beautiful pictures, hiking, and exploration. The tour, consisting of a Portuguese speaking guide, takes about 40 minutes and involves walking through a small market area in which they really try to sell you on projects created by the sand. The guide will pose you in many, many, places and take photos at different angles looking for a bigger tip at the end of the tour. If possible, take the dune buggy tour, as it allows you to see even more of the landscape!

(Translated by Google) I was with my wife and two daughters on 01/18/25. The service was actually good, however, the waiter recommended a fish with shrimp and lobster (MARISCADA CANOA BEACH for R$220.00), which would easily feed 4 people. I went with his recommendation and chose it. In the end, half of the dish was fish head. I practically went without eating, so my daughters could have lunch, because the portion was tiny. Very small lobster. And the shrimp? There were 3, but those who saw from a distance could see several, because they filled the plate with carrots, precisely to confuse it with the color of the shrimp. (See the photo of the "VEGAN SHRIMP". I complained and said I would post it on social media, but they were wary and gave me a discount of over R$100.00. At least they were honest about that, or just wary. I wouldn't go back. Beiral is located at the very point of the promontory and offers a superb view. We have gone there for many (20+) years and enjoyed the ambience and food. The service, while friendly enough, was always slow and spotty, but the food was good, especially the broths (caldos). In recent times, the place has deteriorated. They inexplicably decided to take up some of the choicest space up front with a kiddie pool that fills up with screaming children and some scrawny dog roams the premises, begging at tables. Customers are also allowed to bring lap dogs into the restaurant and their incessant yapping is blithely tolerated. The owners need to decide who they wish to serve: Humans or dogs. The place next door has the same view, similar service and food, but is cleaner.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Basílica do Senhor do Bonfim, an impressive 18th-century church situated on Sacred Hill, is a significant stop on Bahia's religious tourism route. Each year, the renowned Lavagem do Bonfim ceremony unites Catholics and Candomblé practitioners in devotion. The neoclassical interior showcases remarkable works of art such as Francisco Velasco's ceiling panel and Jose Rufino Capinam's paintings at the entrance.
The Basilica do Senhor do Bonfim is a beautiful and culturally significant church worth visiting. However, the experience can be somewhat diminished by persistent sellers and Baianas asking for money if you take their picture. While the architecture and atmosphere are impressive, be prepared for these interruptions during your visit.

It is the most famous of the Catholic churches of Salvador, in the State of Bahia, Brazil. It was built in the 18th century. Fitinha do Senhor do Bonfim is a souvenir and popular amulet that can be found being sold by street vendors around the Church. Go there early before midday and do not forget to buy your bracelets

A must see during your visit to Salvador. A beautiful cathedral that captures the heart and soul of one of the oldest cities established in the new world. It’s local custom to tie ribbons at the gate in front of the church and say a prayer to the Holy Savior of the Bay of all Saints. Inside the cathedral and deep rooted in the Afro-Brazillian Candomblé traditions and the Catholic Ex-Voto, the afflicted offer wax casts in body parts to Saints as thanks or hope of healing them.

The church is beautiful and full with the visitors but should be careful about the guy at the parking lot along the street they are asking for 20 reais for every car.

Beautiful church carrying a lot of history. There was service when we arrived and it was crowded but we found seats and could enjoy the amazing interior of the church whilst praying. Be aware about parking and souvenir prices, street vendors try to make money on unadvised tourists.

Good vibe to get your blessings. Given the importance in Brazil you would expect a grand church. It is, however relatively small and simple, but never the less impressive for its significance for the faithful in Brazil. Great photo opportunities with the colourful Senhor do Bonfim ribbons tied to the church gate.

Best beach in Salvador in my opinion! Variety of stalls, trendy bars, clean, hot water, great waterfront ... A great option for all audiences. I paid 10 reais on an umbrella, and drank beer worth 8 on average, water costs around 4 reais, cheap snacks. Worth the trip. Beautiful beach, twenty-six miles from the center of Salvador, with an extensive strip of sand, therefore, in several points, quite deserted, even in high season. Located in a quiet neighborhood next to Stella Maris and Itapuã, but with plenty of services such as restaurants, markets, cafeterias and a shop that serves very well for everyday needs. Great place to relax with the family.

Mercado Modelo is a popular market in Salvador, featuring over 250 shops offering a variety of arts, crafts, and souvenirs. The large yellow building housing the market is an example of neoclassical architecture and inside, elegant stone arches crown the alleys and streets. Visitors can also enjoy a view of the Bay of All Saints from a huge curved balcony covered in umbrellas.
Great tourist spot. Lots of little shops for souvenirs and food. There is a bigger restaurant overlooking the ocean. In the area are a few museums to visit. The large elevator is steps away. We came back here several times because there are so many things to do. We felt safe and they kept the area clean.

Traditional port in Salvador. Lots of little shops to buy useless memorabilia for your house, family and friends. Beautiful view of the port and sunset from the second floor restaurant/bar - makes it worth the trip.

Beautiful building and market by the marina. It’s worth a visit to browse through some souvenirs, however, little to no local and artisanal handicrafts. Also the vendors are quite pushy which ruined the shopping experience a little. In my opinion, there are other local vendors and artisanal shops around the city that offer better and unique handicrafts.

Surprise experience that turned out to be the highlight of my day in the area. Amazing visual experience. Totally worth the short wait on the day I visited.

Very touristy and a lot of stalls which sell exactly the same items. Nothing wow! Very nice terrace.

This is indeed one of the greatest and most know trademarks for anyone visiting Salvador for the first time. Currently, the market is passing by a renovation so its split in two different sections. But both have basically the same kind of products available. At first, I've thought this would be similar to São Paulo's Municipal Market; however, here you will find just two or three options of restaurants with most of the other places taken by souvenirs stores. It can be a great place if you're looking for this type of store but be attentive of the prices - you can similar items for huge price variance. Tip: things here are cheaper than most of the stores of Pelourinho. Extra tip: though the market itself may not be what you're expecting take the opportunity to visit the marine located a few steps of it. The view is stunning and a good place for nice photos.

Very busy market close to the cruise ship pier. Just a 5 minute walk. Definitely must see the underground museum for a small fee.

Popular market featuring 250+ shops selling a variety of arts, crafts & souvenirs, plus restaurants. Mercado Modelo has bars, cafeterias and canteens. With 8,410 square meters and two floors, with gifts and souvenirs from Bahia The Mercado Modelo arose out of the need for a supply center in the Lower City of Salvador. Between the old Customs House building and Largo da Conceição, it was a commercial center where it was possible to acquire items as varied as fruit and vegetables, cereals, animals, cigars, cachaças, and Candomblé articles. Thus, the market was inaugurated on February 2, 1912[1] in a building next to the old Customs House building, which had been built in 1860 and inaugurated in 1861.[3] The market's supply was served by the ramp that bears its name, former port of the schooners that crossed the Bay of All Saints.

The Elevador Lacerda is a historic art deco elevator that provides scenic views while connecting the upper and lower parts of Salvador. It offers a convenient and affordable way to explore the old city center, with taxis, buses, and foot travel also being viable options. This iconic elevator was erected in the mid to late 1800s and showcases impressive Art Deco design from additional work done in the early 20th century.
It's a small pastry and ice cream shop situated right next to the elevator. I have to admit that the ice creams are delicious, generously served, and really cheap. You may choose to get them in a cone or a cup. The 'Pave' flavor is amazing! Pave is a Brazilian cake-like dessert.
Arkadiusz J — Google review
The City around the elevator is dangerous. The elevator looks good, but it's not spectacular to use.
Matheus Z — Google review
A tourist attraction with a lot of history. ⭐ The elevator is very fast and takes you to the upper city in a few seconds ⭐ We did not pay an entrance fee and did not have to wait in a queue ⭐ Nothing else to say or to do. Very straightforward. It is an elevator after all. But fun nonetheless! Also, prices for souvenirs in the upper city are cheaper than at Mercado Modelo!
B. N — Google review
Lacerda Elevator was the first urban elevator in the world when it opened on December 8, 1873 the 63 meters tall elevator takes you from lower town to upper town. A major tourist attractions and photo spot of Salvador. Great views of the bay and the governors palace.

Beware of people who try to sell souvenirs and paint your body. They pretend it’s a freebie but will try to get as much as they can from you. Another advice, do not wear gold necklaces and such. Large groups or maybe with a guide is safer.
Rodrigo A — Google review
The history behind the construction is interesting, however it’s not a great place to go. Going up and down costs R$0,15 per visitor and the elevator is too crowded, hot as hell and smells sweat. Great view up there though.
Enzo — Google review
It's very cheap at only R$0.15, and conveniently located. It facilitates a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Pelourinho or from Pelourinho to the market. There may be a bit of a line depending on the time of day that you visit. Can also get a bit hot during the day. There are stunning views from the top, a very popular photo op spot, as well as a famous ice cream shop help you beat the heat. Can't miss it on a visit to Salvador and I definitely recommend taking it at least once.
Andre W — Google review
Better one to dine in. Beautiful ambient. Sitting area overlooking sun set and Mercado Modelo. It is right at exit of the upper level of Elevator. Best time to have ice cream is during sun set

Porto da Barra Beach

Porto da Barra Beach is a picturesque gem nestled in Salvador, known for its tranquil waters that beckon both swimmers and sunbathers alike. This vibrant beach not only offers a perfect spot to soak up the sun but also serves as a historical landmark, being the site of Bahia's original European settlement. The surrounding neighborhood buzzes with life, attracting both locals and visitors who come to enjoy refreshing drinks while watching breathtaking sunsets over the bay.
Might be a long overdue review, but hands down one of the best beach waters I have been to. The pictures are from 2013, I've noticed they have bikes and scooters now. No matter where you are at pay attention to your surroundings. Local markets and restaurants near the strip. Not sure if the internet cafe shop is still there it's on the main strip a few shops down from the main entrance to the beach. If you are staying local, the grocery store is about a 15 min away walking. Not sure if they still do this on the beach, it's hard to think they do not, but ... once the sun is completely set (which looks surreal) it's the sun disappearing into the horizon of the beach ....people clap. It's the end of the day and you made it to see the sun go down.

If you like to enjoy life, this beach is the place for you!! Music, alcohol, food, friends, love, happiness etc etc
Laura X — Google review
Nice beach but noisy and too many hawkers trying to sell you various kinds of items. I'd stay away from here and rather go to Rio Vermelho beach.
Jeet B — Google review
This is an amazing beach. In weekends they shirt down the street for people to explore the local community that does shows and performance. You will have everything you need with in a 2 min walk. You can rent chair and umbrella and order a bucket of beer with out leavening the sand. There are tons of stree venders with foods, drinks and stuff. As you travel please always be aware of the area your in. Do not take your valuables and leave them on the beach unattended.

Beautiful beach, clean, but a bit crowded, specially on high season you could hardly find a spot, since it is not that big.
Lucas K — Google review
A wonderful & magical place. The scenery is beautiful and the people are colorful. At the end of the day, a cold beer and a well made Acaraje, standing along the wall of the beach front watching the sunset is a scene that bring tranquility and peace.

Great water! Nice place to hang out avoid weekend cause it gets crowded and people smoking weed made me sick!

Farol da Barra Beach is a lively destination popular for swimming and sunbathing. It is home to the St. Anthony Fort and the historic Farol da Barra lighthouse, where Amerigo Vespucci arrived in 1501. The beach offers stunning views of All Saints Bay and the city, with amenities such as eateries, beach umbrellas, and loungers for rent.
My wife added this place to our list when we visited Salvador — and we’re glad she did. The lighthouse and old fortress are full of history, and there’s a great little surprise on the rooftop: a spot where you can enjoy tasty Brazilian food and drinks. If you go at the right time, the sunset view is absolutely unforgettable.
Soufian K — Google review
Must stay in this area very happening and lively neighbourhood. Good food options not much option for vegetarians, feels save due to police nearby. Beach is amazing you can go anytime you want. Rentals bicycle and mini scooters wil be available.
Farhat J — Google review
The place is very beautiful. Once inside, everything is clean, the view is stunning, and you feel safe. However, the place should have security for tourists. The vendors outside, desperate for your money like hungry hyenas, made the experience unpleasant. They tried to paint us with their products and wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. It was truly a horrible experience. Therefore, I give the place a 2 out of 5.
Matt K — Google review
I love this place! It’s stunning, good for a walk and talk. I just take care always because one time someone tried to stolen my neckless and hurted me. Hopefully my friends could stop the guy and the drivers around helped as well.
Carolinebritor — Google review
Well, it’s a simple lighthouse but when the sun is setting, you are gonna enjoy the view and obviously by walking on the same boulevard you get plenty of things to eat and it’s nice

The Barra's Lighthouse is a postcard of Salvador City, at beach with the same name , is the oldest in Brazil but is in a great conservation status. The visit worth cause the historical value, the beautiful neighborhood and the stunning views when you climb until the top! At the building of the old fort, we visited the museum that explain the History of the Lighthouse since the 16th Century and an interesting pictures exposition.
