Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Schloss Drachenburg is a 19th-century villa that resembles a medieval castle and offers stunning views of the Rhine valley. It was built between 1882 and 1884 by Baron Stephan von Sarter, drawing inspiration from the romantic architecture of medieval castles along the Rhine River. The design incorporates Neo-Gothic, Romanesque, and Renaissance elements.
Beautiful castle, phenomenal views, friendly staff at the ticket office, on the Drachenfelsbahn and at the castle. The castle has been beautifully maintained and is in pristine condition. I particularly loved the stained glass and how each section gave one the opportunity to step back in time, surrounded by so much history. The gardens are also perfectly manicured, lovingly maintained and give one a sense of peace. A truly awesome experience
Nicolette R — Google review
What a gorgeous castle. We stopped in on our way to Cologne. The little train tram was fun. The many stained glass windows were so cool. The little cafe was good, we got tea and coffee and snacks. Views were amazing.
K H — Google review
A truly beautiful castle, high in the mountains, you either need to walk 40 minutes up a steep slope, or buy a ticket for a small train for 10 euros. Entrance to the castle costs 10 euros, you can buy it at the castle itself, you have access to the area around the castle and the castle itself, there are free toilets, places to eat and a restaurant, there are a lot of people. I advise you to carefully review the route in advance.
Sofia M — Google review
Went on a weekend, through the funicular costs 12 euro for adults and 6 euro for kids, better to buy combi tickets if you are visiting with family. The castle 🏰 was maintained well, and entry cost 10 euro for adults and 8 euro for kids. The Rhine river was so beautiful from the castle. A must visit place if you're visiting near colonge and Bonn.
Aravinth — Google review
The castle was incredibly beautiful and everything inside was just stunning and mind blowing. I love the fact that some known people and artists were painted on the windows in the main room. You should definitely visit it and no need to buy tickets online because you can buy them from there directly and the ticket for person was only 10€.
Aseel D — Google review
Truly a beautiful place to visit, the view from atop is stunning and the inside is just as nice as outside. For the price of 10 euro it's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Getting there is a bit harder you can walk what we did but the road is very steep tho doable. there is also a train that goes up a 2 way ticket costs 12 euros (1 way ticktet costs 10)
Collin B — Google review
It was wonderful holidays in Drachenburg Schloss. A have already visited a lot of castles and palaces in Germany and this one was one the best: amazing views, incredible architecture, beautiful interiors 🤩 The staff here was polite and helpful, thank you so much ☺️ You need approximately 3 hours for this place: to look everything, to walk around and to make photos 📷. ❗️This place, of course, deserves you time to visit it.
Aleksey B — Google review
Must see place!! It is such a great location and the castle is gorgeous and mind blowing both from outside and inside! I recommend taking the bahn to go up and hiking when you are going back. Such a great experience!

The hill offers stunning views and is surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Visitors can also enjoy dining at various restaurants in Koenigswinter, offering diverse cuisines and dining experiences.
Wonderful place to be for an escape from a busy week. The view of the river from the hill top is magnificent along with centuries old history of the ruined castle.
Sarang G — Google review
A beautiful place with a nice overlooking view. There are two ways to reach the castle ruins: you can either hike up or take the oldest cogwheel railway in Europe. Both options offer a great experience.
PinkFluffyBanana — Google review
Unbelievable, If you are in the area you have to see it! Great views and a great hike or train ride.
Bill K — Google review
It’s a beautiful castle. But it’s small on the inside just 2 floors and a little tower on the side so ur done pretty quickly. And for the price €25 for a family ticket it’s pricey.
Linn R — Google review
It‘s definitely worth a visit, the place is nice and spacious. We chose to go up with the tram mainly because of the children but i would recommend to take the trail hiking up instead. It was cold and windy sitting outside (for a snack/beer/coffee/ Curry Wurst, .etc) but then you get the beautiful Sunset view.
Le D — Google review
A beautiful resort that is perfect for a weekend getaway within an hour drive and half day visiting
Flos L — Google review
Train up. Hike down if your legs are good. Rich history. Beautiful views.
John O — Google review
We hiked up the peak. It took us about 45-60min. We read it is useful to use hiking shoes but that would not necessarily have been needed. Normal comfortabel shoes would have been fine too. The view from up there is magnificent. It's definitely worth it to go the extra few meters up. You need to walk over the terrace on order to get to the way up. You can see the Rhine and its beautiful surrounding area. We could even see the Kölner Dom from there. On the way back we visited the castle which is also a must see. On the way to the top, there is one view point from which you can see the castle, that was also very nice to see. When in the area, the Drachenfels is definitely a recommendation from me.

(Translated by Google) When the weather is good and especially in summer it is always quite full, but the fantastic view makes up for it and the food is generally quite decent. Nice route for running or alternatively taking the cog railway, which is also a great experience for the little ones. (Translated by Google) Parking costs about 8 euros per day. I thought about 50 cents per half hour. Enough parking space and enough vending machines. Only pay by pin. NB. The train goes up every half hour. Maybe more often in high season, I don't know. (Original) Parkeren kost ongeveer 8 euro per dag. Ik dacht 50 cent per half uur ongeveer. Incredible! My son celebrated his 10th birthday here with his friends and the entire process was flawless and so professionally executed every step of the way. Ensuring the kids had a positive and fun experience was always the number one priority, and even managing the kids when they were mayyybee a bit too loud was done respectfully. What I hadn’t realized was that there was a staff member there for the kids the entire time, including in the party room afterwards, so I really didn’t need to be there at all but I was glad I got to be in the party room afterwards because it was definitely a cool experience!
Bonnie L — Google review
We love the experience. You get into the game from the very first moment, is a very cool immersive experience. Everything is taken care of in detail. We definitely gonna come back to play more sceneries. And the crew working and acting is amazing as well, they really put effort and passion on it☺️
Violeta G — Google review
Highly recommend! We did Money Rush same day via WhatsApp. Incredible acting, effects, storyline, & puzzles. It was our favorite room yet! Can't wait to try the other rooms soon.
Kelsey A — Google review
Booked the Money Rush room last minute/same day via WhatsApp. The team was fantastic and accommodating. We had an amazing time- the story line was presented in a clear manner, and the acting right from the start set the stage for the escape room. Sina did great- all in English and provided just the right amount of assistance. We've done multiple escape rooms all over Europe and can say this one was very well done. The effects, the space, the props, videos- all contributed to a very realistic experience. The amount of detail was phenomenal. Some may say it's pricier than most, but the quality is second to none. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Would love to return and play the trilogy!
Puravida40 — Google review
With 550+ escape rooms played worldwide, I can honestly say this company has some of the very best, even internationally. Story and room design are amazing, and the live actors do a great job - not just scaring people as in some horror rooms, but really interacting with the players and adding a whole new dimension to the games. It's an amazing experience and definitely worth the travel to Neuwied!
Thomas W — Google review
Normally a German speaking experience, we asked if they could change the game to English. They did a great job... rewriting everything and speaking in English. Very enjoyable and such a good live escape room experience!

Andernach Geyser

Mentioned on

Museum
Science Museums
The Andernach Geyser, situated on the Namedy Peninsula in the Rhine near Andernach, is renowned as the highest cold-water geyser globally, capable of reaching heights between 30 to 60 meters. This natural wonder was drilled in 1903 and has since become a major tourist attraction. Visitors can access it through organized tours that include a visit to an information center and a short boat ride.
Nicely arranged museum and tour via a boat to the geyser. The geyser is activated every 100 minutes for 8-10 minutes and is 40-60 m high. It's the highest cool water geyser in the world. Pretty impressive. The museum is interactive and really interesting both for kids and adults. Inside there is a good coffeeshop with tasty deserts and cosy terrace.
Marharita C — Google review
This is an interesting museum about the geological history of the area. It is located right next to the river bank. The ticket includes the museum as well as a ferry ride to the geyser and back. Really worth a visit
E K — Google review
Very good experience at the museum. Nice boat trip to the geyser, which is spectacular.
Elena — Google review
Loved the experience of visiting the highest cold water geyser in the world. The museum has many interested exhibits and hands on activities. The ticket includes a visit to the museum as well as ship transfer to Namedyer Werth peninsula where visitors can witness the eruption. A great place for children and adults. The staff is friendly and helpful. The museum center has a café, washrooms and a souvenir shop. Check their website before making a visit. On bad weather days, ship tours get cancelled.
Padmini S — Google review
Quite amazing geyser - museum was good but sadly blocked by a lot of wheelchairs (mut have been a tour)
Henrik S — Google review
You have to visit through the museum and boat ride, which is a little annoying since there are walking/biking trails leading to the geyser. However, the museum is very nice and informative/interactive with a cafe. The boat ride is very short, 10 minutes, but you do get to see some pretty buildings and hills. The geyser staff do not warn you before they will open the valve to turn on the geyser. It lasts a bit over 5 minutes, plenty of time to take photos and watch. Overall, a good experience but I would've liked to walk instead of the ferry.
Katy R — Google review
It's a beautifully-made, highly interactive museum, especially suitable for the young ones and newbies alike! The museum guide happily helped us reschedule our boat trip so we can enjoy the museum for more than 15mins, which was really nice of them.
Michelle — Google review
Reaching the geyser it can be done only by boat. Tickets can be bought from Geyser museum where a lot of useful info is presented before embarking towards geyser visit. Advice: don't stay to close to it because you will get wet.

Therme Euskirchen

Thermal baths
Spas & Wellness
Modern thermal spa complex with an outdoor lagoon, saunas & a pool in a palm-lined, glass atrium.
We visited Therme Euskirchen on Saturday and had an amazing time! The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, and the combination of the pools and saunas makes for a perfect day of wellness. The property is very well-maintained, and everything feels clean and inviting. We especially enjoyed the pool area and the variety of saunas. The only downside is that the Aufguss sessions can get a bit crowded, but it’s still worth experiencing. We also ate at the restaurant and tried the Pad Thai and the pizza, both of which were delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and will definitely be coming back for another visit!
Anthony B — Google review
I recently spent a day at Therme Euskirchen, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The complex offers an impressive variety of saunas – from something resembling a hammam to a unique sauna where you can watch koi fish swimming gracefully behind glass, and many others to explore. Each one had its own character and atmosphere, making it a real journey through different wellness traditions. The pools are equally diverse. There’s a swim-up bar with very reasonable prices (and I was delighted to find my favorite banana weizen beer there), a saltwater pool for deep relaxation, and even a smaller pool where calming music plays underwater – a surprisingly magical touch. I felt both refreshed and completely relaxed by the end of the day. A special mention must go to the Amber Orchid restaurant inside the complex. It is truly a fine-dining experience, with excellent cuisine and a refined atmosphere. Our dinner there was a perfect finale to the day. I would particularly like to thank our waiter, Scott K., who provided impeccable service and made us feel genuinely welcome. Overall, Therme Euskirchen is a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for relaxation, variety, and a touch of luxury – all in one spot.
Andrey K — Google review
It would be nice if the website clearly stated that children are not allowed on certain days. That would save people from making a pointless trip. It's understandable that children are not allowed in the sauna. But “Palm Paradise” sounds very tempting to children.
Juliane Z — Google review
We had a great day at the Therme. Unfortunately, my cousin had an accident on the stairs near the immersive sky experience. The stairs there are a dangerous. They don’t have anti slip protection and that is why my niece slipped and fail. There are other stairs near the thermal pools and that one has slip protection. See pictures.
Ilo_west — Google review
The four of us had a great day at the Therme Euskirchen. We would like to put special emphasis on the food at the restaurant "Amber Orchid". The food was so good that we went to eat there twice that day. If you happen to visit and went some actual good food instead of the usual, be sure to give it a try. Greetings to Scott from the four musketeers.
Marcel S — Google review
I love the therme in Euskirchen. It was my 5th time there. In the week its not too busy. They have a beautiful sauna and a huge garden. My favourite is the koi sauna. For food, swim, sauna und towels you pay a full day 100€.
Natascha S — Google review
I was able to see the exact price only after registering on your website. The price turned out to be almost twice as high as the one shown earlier — €76 for two tickets (one adult and one child) for 4 hours of swimming out of season (only the indoor pool). Could you please explain how your pricing is calculated? The price was very high for us, so we couldn’t visit the spa complex. The children were very disappointed.

Awesome place. We visited in late March. P There is plenty of free parking. Allow about 120 minutes. Tours last 90 minutes and run every 15 minutes. While the staff speak excellebt English, the tour is all in German (unless booked as a group in advance) - but ask for the English booklet and read as you go round (slef guided tours are not an option). Free toilets on site and lots of walks in the surrounding hills are there. Can be cold in the winter, so wrap up warm. You need to buy a photo pass if you want to take pictures.
Paul B — Google review
Be prepared. If you don't speak German you might find it to be pretty dull. The tour is guided and the guide only spoke in German and offered no English at all. He did speak English but he didn't like to be interrupted. So I didn't ask. There isn't a huge amount to look at but it is all about the story and the context. So if you cannot understand what is being said then it does make the tour rather like standing in a chilly tunnel. I believe all the facts and figures and information was very interesting judging by the reaction of the German speakers on the tour. None of the reading material or signs have any English translations. So I came away knowing no more than when I arrived other than when it was built (I think). None of this is intended as a criticism. It is in Germany and I don't speak German. But you just need to know what to expect.
Oliver — Google review
A piece of important history everyone should see. Be prepared that it is only possible to visit in groups, and the tickets are 15eur pp, plus 2,5 eur photo surcharge if you wish to rake photos. It's a bit sad that tge tours are only in German.
Nicolas M — Google review
Great tour! Truly a trip through both history and a future we have luckily avoided so far. Great tourguide, great rooms that displayed what life was like. Definitely worth the long trip!
Willemijn — Google review
Excellent tour and visit, you are only allowed in groups with a guide. When we went we were the only English people so had to go in a German group. So I didn't get most of the info, but read lots before the tour started which helped out. Great photo opportunities and really makes you appreciate what it was like in the cold war. Only a fraction of the tunnels now exist, but what remains is very well preserved.
Dom — Google review
Interesting, and really good rainy day alternative. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Dystopian part of history… but somewhat relevant to today. I can only recommend
Derya G — Google review
Very interesting piece of cold war history. Tours are extensive and very informative, however in German only unless you book a group tour. You "only" get to see a 230m stretch of the 17km bunker but it's quite more extensive than it may seem. Tours last about 90 minutes and explain the history, technical details, as well as the life in the bunker. You can drive a few km down the road and also see the sealed former main entrances.
Gregor H — Google review
Great museum with even better and knowledgeable staff. If you wanna learn something about the cold war craziness visit it.

Not many places in a fully-modern world are as beautiful and relaxing as this small outlet town not far away from Köln. You can get amazing products and spend a great weekend here, keeping a fairly good budget. Here you'll find cafes, restaurants, gift shops, clothing/accessories outlets and spectacular views of antique architecture and a lovely landscape.

Walter P — Google review
Despite it being a charming village within fortress walls, the outlet stores in the city diminish the originality and authentic character. The clash between history and shopping experience was a bit too harsh for my taste. It depends on your point of view ofcourse. Nevertheless there are still beautiful buildings to be seen and you can still get a feeling of what it used to be before 'civilisation' marched in.

Lovely small village. Maybe better than Monschau. House build in 1609 from wooden beams !?

Very good ship service. You may take a round trip either from Heimbach or Rursee, which is around 12.45 minutes round trip. On board, you have certain menu options to eat and drink l. Toilets are available with enough seating spaces. The ship remains clean, and the staff is friendly and speaks English as well. There are economic parking places available with payment options by cash or card. The tickets of the ship ride can be bought directly at the counter by cash or card. There are no escalators , and one needs to use either stairs or slope to go down at the dock, which is not a very long distance from the cash counter. There is a restaurant as well as hotel accommodation options available. A lot of walking and hiking spots nearby to explore the town. A road trip by wheeled train motored ride is available as well here to do a small trip through the Heimbach city which people can also do which is good fun as well.

Terrific place for almost every outdoor activity - boating, hiking, swimming, fishing, cycling - or just to walk along the river or even a relaxing ferry ride. The ferry ride from 'Einruhr' to 'Rurberg' and back was amazing! The tickets for the ride are not so expensive either. You see people playing water sports along the way. There are a few restaurants that have the tables right along the banks and the view from there is just pleasant to the eyes! We have been here in all seasons. Irrespective of what season it is one can visit here anytime. I'm sure it'll give an amazing experience!

Landhaus vor Burg Eltz is a charming countryside hotel with horse stables, a terrace, and a garden. The traditional restaurant offers excellent food and the rooms are tidy and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making it a great choice for families with babies. Its proximity to Eltz castle makes it convenient for visitors who want to explore the area on foot. The cozy atmosphere and welcoming host add to the overall appeal of this bed & breakfast.
A beautiful hotel with the feeling of a B&B. A very welcoming host; a nice, quiet location; big, clean rooms; and great food at their restaurant as well. We only stayed there for 2 nights, but we'd love to come back.
Jelle B — Google review
We highly recommend this hotel. The room was spacious, the bed and linens, very lovely. The service was exceptional which sets this hotel apart from many others. The owner gave us great recommendations of places to visit (the castles of Eltz and Thurant are both a must) and places to dine. He met all our requests and even accommodated our late arrival. We will definitely stay again if traveling through again. The owner has a lovely restaurant as well. Unfortunately, he is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so we missed the opportunity to dine there.
Feisty G — Google review
We had dinner here after touring Berg Eltz. We went with what our server recommended and it was the Boar flatbread dish with cream cheese, Gouda and fresh herbs. Absolutely delicious and drank red wine with it. Friendly fast service was a plus as well as free parking. I would be a regular here, if I could.
Paula J — Google review
We had a very nice one-night stay while visiting the Eltz castle. By good weather you could easily walk from the guesthouse to the castle. The food at diner was excellent. Breakfast was very good and cheap. You can ask for your preferred type of eggs, they have different breads, cereals and yogurt. The room and bathroom were very clean. The host is very welcoming and friendly. We would highly recommend this place and would gladly stay again.
Samia H — Google review
The food here is great quality. Traditional German cuisine at an exceptionally good price. The portions are good and the presentation is really nice. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We stop in here every time we visit Castle Eltz. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for a night while traveling through Germany. Stayed in a large room very spacious for our family, fantastic views of the country and sunset. Owner was extremely friendly, gracious, and spoke English. Had dinner in their restaurant - every dish we had was excellent, and breakfast the next morning was good as well. Highly recommend this place for both lodging and to eat at. It's as close as it gets to Burg Eltz, took no more than 2-3 minutes to the parking lot for the castle

Very nice and cozy hotel. The rooms are tidy and nice, don't expect inner city hotel services. The hotel is a very homely feel, Dieter is an absolute gentleman, speaks good English and is very helpful, pity he supports Bayern Munich. The breakfast is quite nice, but we felt that it was a little expensive, personally would recommend eating at a Cafe nearby. We enjoyed our stay here and are very thankful to Dieter and staff.

We’ve eaten at the restaurant twice and really enjoyed the food. During the warmer months, you can eat on the patio and enjoy the nice weather! We tried the potato soup, chicken schnitzel and the chocolate cake for dessert. Delicious!! Great customer service, great food and great location 😀

A very chilling yet interesting place to visit. It has an amazing view. The site is very big. If you’re into history, then i totally recommend this place. From there you can also start a 4 hour hiking tour that goes around the sea and back to site.
Fatma A — Google review
Very interesting place to visit, especially for school classes and other group trips, and nice personal, however me and my friends waited fifteen minutes for the gastronomy to open, when they were supposed to already be open, we had to call the place for them to open the doors and the food was overpriced and tasted bad. My friends and I had waffles with cherries and cream, the cherries tasted like they were already rotten and we could not eat them so it was wasted money.

Beautiful place with wonderful views. Parking ticket : 6€ There is a restaurant with “standard food quality” and enough places for everyone inside and outside. Walking through the national park is an amazing experience.

It’s a modern museum. Lovely views and solid information. The audio guide should be updated (google audio voiceover in 2025?) plus some of the signes would be great to have im English. Overall very good, nice and helpful people. Thank you
Hynek — Google review
The place was both shocking (historical aspepct) and mesmerizing. The area is large, you should expect a lot of walk, but it worth. If you are looking for the exact preservation of the national socialist place, you should look elsewhere. This facility was used a lot since then, so lots of modernizations happened, but this did not take out any experience from me. The location is awesome with excellent lookout.
Károly S — Google review
Historical. There are plenty of signs to understand the buildings and historical significance. The visitor’s center history of Vogelsang was interesting, it had a digital component to hear sound bites and intpretations in your language.
Laura — Google review
Amazing historical place, although a bit difficult to apprehend without going through the museum. The museum is well thought, focusing on the background for building such a place before going through it (brief) use by the nazis and the impact on the graduates. It really shows the inefficiency of the authoritarian regime, but also the indoctrination and resulting horrors. A great place to visit on a sunny day!

My husband had an amazing time throughout this experience! Everything was clearly explained in a thorough debriefing, and safety was clearly a top priority throughout. The instructor who rode with him made the experience even more fun and engaging. A fantastic, well-run operation—highly recommend for any driving enthusiast!

Absolutely awesome experience driving Numbergring yesterday. Love Fabrice (my instructor) yelling at me the whole time “gas, gas, gas, you have the whole track”. “Don’t brake, don’t brake” Unbelievable & surreal experience. Will come again if my wife let’s me! Thank Jay (Australia)

Absolutely amazing! Did the First Timer package, and the guides were incredibly friendly. Cars were clean and well maintained, and the preparation they provided before the track laps was great. The instructor that came with me knew the track incredibly well and was able to guide me around quickly and safely. Highly recommend!
Shane M — Google review
Very professional outfit. The setup on the car was great (BMW M240i RSR) I got to run some laps on their Fanatec simulator first to warm up, which really helped a 1st timer like me. Everyone there made the experience enjoyable, and it couldn't possibly be in a more convenient location. Absolutely a 5 star experience.
Max — Google review
Highly, highly recommend RSR Nürburgring - long review ahead because we only have amazing things to say! My husband had the best time of his life, and it was an incredible first experience at the Nürburgring, all thanks to RSR. This trip was planned specifically to fulfil his dream of driving at the green hell, and after tons of research, we chose RSR for their First Timer Package - and it truly couldn’t have been more perfect. We arrived at 9.30am to kick off the day with a road tour. This was such a great start as it gave us more insight into the history of the Nürburgring, including a visit to the Südschleife - the forgotten section of the old Nürburgring, and some scenic view spots around the track. It happened to be Industry Pool Day, so we also got to see various German automotive brands testing their vehicles, which was an unexpected bonus! The road tour was especially cool because we were allowed to use the same car we’d be taking on the track - in our case, the M2 G87, which was clean, well-maintained, and an absolute joy to drive. The tour included some spirited driving on B-roads (all within safe limits), which gave my husband a feel for the car before the track session. After the tour, we were given museum tickets and had a break for lunch - both nice additions to the experience. Before the actual track time, we returned the car so RSR could do a check - it was reassuring to see that they take safety seriously. Next came the safety briefing, which was comprehensive and very well conducted. Then it was finally time to hit the track! My husband was assigned an instructor for the first lap, and he was fantastic - clearly experienced and very knowledgeable. He gave great guidance and tips, which helped my husband feel confident. We ended up adding another lap with the instructor and then my husband finished with two solo laps, putting what he learned into action. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch the instructor’s name, but he made a huge positive impact on the experience. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the Nürburgring. RSR is professional, passionate, and truly knows how to create a top-tier driving experience. We'll definitely be back - and if you're considering doing this, don't hesitate. Just book it.
C. — Google review
Top experience for the best value. Can only recommend the guys and the cars. The process was very smooth and friendly, they explain to you everything, they are flexible and very kind. Also having an instructor with you is vital for the first lap at least, and they have cool instructors, so book one. The i20N is perfect for the very first 10-20 laps, it‘s powerful enough believe me. And don‘t crash it, I‘ll need it back soon, cause I‘ll come back for sure :). Thanks a lot guys!! Marian

I attended the RSR event at the Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps from August 1-5. To be sure, the tracks were as amazing as I had hoped them to be and driving them was the fulfillment of a dream. The joyous insanity of the Nurburgring is equaled by the elegance and precision of Spa. But the overall experience provided by RSR was so much more than providing access to the tracks. Every detail of my weeklong trip was handled with such precision and personal attention that I went home wondering what part was the best: Was it the driving? Was it the first class accommodations (trackside at Nurburgring and a Michelin-quality resort in Belgium)? Was it the exquisite food (including gourmet dining at Hotel Le Val d' Amblev for our nights at Spa)? Was it the people handling all the above? Ultimately, it was clear that the people involved in the event made it as good as it was. Ron has assembled the most amazing team, and they ALL make it their mission to ensure that everything is simply perfect. Jonathan's management of the event and our group was superlative. He so clearly finds joy in his work, and that job is executing the vision of a perfect driving holiday in Europe. (Jonathan ... mission accomplished!) Ray was a most welcome addition to everything he attended, with his South African accent and big smile. The cars were in excellent condition, and they were maintained expertly and quickly throughout all phases of the events. If they needed fuel, air in a tire, a tire change (as track conditions changed), oil, a windshield cleaning or anything else (including the fastest change of brake pads I have ever seen), the mechanics almost magically put things right so that I could return to the fun in the least amount of time. The other support staff -- from event managers, photographers, etc. -- were always ahead of us and prepared everything for our arrival. Those events included a VIP lounge dinner at the Nurburgring GP track to watch the old timers racing one night, as well as literally creating a lounge in a garage for our days at Spa. Finally, Ron appeared to take great joy in mingling with his many guests, and he even afforded many of them the pleasure of taking them out for proper fast laps at Spa. (Ron, my wife still thinks you are a rock star for driving her more ably and faster than I ever could. Thank you.)

To start this review, I would like to share my appreciation for the gentleman and lady in the front office. They were lovely, professional and really welcoming to make sure we got the experience we came for. I couldnt share a higher appreciation for their service. Secondly, amongst all the rental providers we enquired with, RSR was by far the most established and professional service, happy to talk us through any concerns and make sure we had the most suitable car for our needs. They were clear about the risks involved, and made sure the appropriate level of caution was exercised resulting in a safe but memorable experience. It is clear that RSR has the largest car selection around and the level of safety checks and regular servicing to their cars cant be faulted. I wouldnt not hesitate to recommend them to anyone and would only consider going back with RSR.

Nürburgring is a renowned motor racing complex featuring circuits from the 1930s and Grand Prix. It offers competition events and driving experience programs. The area also includes Nurburg castle ruins, providing a picturesque view of the Nürburgring. Car enthusiasts will find plenty to do at the main facility, including visiting official merchandise stores and other unique shops within the complex. Spectating corners like Brunnchen offer exciting views of the track.
Unforgettable Experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We stumbled upon this place by chance, and wow, what a find! The spirit of this place is incredibly strong – you can practically feel the excitement in the air, and it's absolutely contagious. While we didn't get a chance to hit the track ourselves this time (maybe next time!), it was still an amazing experience. Watching all the different cars tear around the circuit, hearing the thunderous roar of the engines, and just soaking in the atmosphere of the racing world for a bit was fantastic. This is a truly magnificent place, definitely worth experiencing and visiting!

It's always a lot of fun to spend the day at tourist drives. Driving a lap yourself or just watching the sheer variety of cars pass by while soaking up the atmosphere is definitely one of my favourite automotive-themed things to do.

For me the Nürburgring is truly a magical place me and I'm guessing for any motorsport enthusiast. From the moment I first stepped onto its legendary track, I was instantly captivated by its rich history and the thrill of the technical corners. The atmosphere is electric, and there’s this undeniable vibe that surrounds this place every corner. I love how the track challenges me with its technical sections and its fast straights. It’s more than just a racetrack; it’s a pilgrimage for anyone who loves speed and precision. Every lap is an adventure, and the entire experience leaves you with unforgettable memories. If you haven't... GO. NOW !

Unfortunately the day I went the track was closed. It'll just give me another reason to come back when it's a lot warmer out. The museum was pretty cool and what I thought was amazing is that you can have kids birthday parties there. Almost makes me want to have a kid. Almost.

Bucket list levels. Great track. The GP track and Nordschleife. If you are into cars I highly recommend it. Just being there is awesome. Surrounding yourself with cars, car culture and really nice people with a shared interest. It's awesome. Highly recommended.

We visited Ringwerks at Nurbergring, amazing place with very helpful friendly staff. As visiting Brits still learning to speak German the local people were so kind and accommodating towards us. Can't wait to return next year.

If you like cars and races, visiting here is a good idea. It is also possible to have a lap in the pist with your car or a rental car. I like it and highly recommend to visit.
Gokhan Y — Google review
Staying at the Nürburgring was an unforgettable experience, having a trackside room with a balcony, and wow – what an experience! The GP track and the Green Hell the Nordschleife, absolutely crazy. Watching cars scream past just meters away, feeling the rumble of engines from the comfort of my own room… pure magic. If you’re into motorsports, this is the place to be. One of the absolute highlights of the trip was driving the legendary Nordschleife. I had the thrill of going out in my son’s BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe around the Green Hell – an unforgettable ride with a perfect mix of fun and fear! But that wasn’t all – I also had the chance to experience the track in a BMW M5 CS, a Ring Taxi…..and wow… what an absolute beast. The power, the handling, the way it devoured the corners, the driver a 24 Hours Le Mans driver– just next-level. That experience alone was worth the trip. If you’re heading to the Nürburgring, book a trackside room, drive the Nordschleife, and if you can – treat yourself to something like the M5 CS. You’ll never forget it.

Dramatic 360m-long rope bridge for bicyclists & pedestrians suspended 100m above a valley.
Incredible views and a peaceful nature experience. There’s a short, scenic hike of around 2.4 km from the parking lot to reach the bridge. Parking costs 8€, and there are clean container-style washrooms both at the parking area and right across the bridge. A great spot for a short adventure!
Noor A — Google review
Very nice! Quite crowded but definitely worth a visit. Parking at the visitor centre costs 10 euros and from there it’s a 20 minute walk to the bridge. Great views!
Michaela S — Google review
The view from the suspension bridge was absolutely stunning. Parking costs around 6 euros, though the parking lot is not well maintained, and there's an additional 1 euro fee to use the washroom. The bridge is just 1 km walk from the parking area. I had a great experience walking across the bridge and really enjoyed spending the evening there even though place being quite crowded.
Neeshma M — Google review
Such a gorgeous hike! Several trails lead you to the bridge, including a paved path that’s short and easy for little ones, a stroller, or accessibility. Paid parking, paid bathrooms located in the town by the visitor center. Bathrooms are also by the bridge. The forest trail is gorgeous, but does get muddy at points. Creek runs along much of trail. Picnic seating along the way as well. Loved this hike!
Jenn K — Google review
The moment you step onto the bridge, you’re greeted with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding forest and valley. The walk across is thrilling but feels completely safe. The area is beautifully maintained and the scenery is stunning in every direction. I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the region. It’s an easy detour—and absolutely worth it!

Cochem Castle, also known as Reichsburg Cochem, is a stunning 11th-century hill-top castle offering panoramic views of the town and the Moselle River. Although much of the original structure was destroyed in the 17th century, it was meticulously restored to its former glory in the 19th century. Perched on a vineyard-covered hilltop, this iconic landmark is considered one of Germany's most beautiful castles.
Beautiful piece of architecture decorating the town. Nice local attraction with a coffee and observation terrace. Fantastic tour guide. I was wishing for more spaces to be available in the castle. Perhaps exposition is only 30% of the possible area. Still very beautiful and worth the visit.
Egle K — Google review
Scenic beautiful castle on the top of a hill by the river just like in a fairytale. You only can visit inside the castle following a guided tour, you can buy the ticket at the souvernir shop at the gate. I'm very grateful that this castle is dog friendly so we all can join the tour together. The tour is about 45 minutes and in German, the tour guide handed out printed script for other languages before the tour started, but you can always ask him question in English. The castle was built in 11th century but was destroyed, then rebuilt in 19th century in Neo-Gothic style. The interior is Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque style with many interesting decorations stuffs. The tour guide told some interesting about languages, why we call something as it is. The view from the castle is magnificent

Wonderful mix of history and culture. It is truly beautiful! The only downside is that there’s no parking on-site — you have to park about 10–15 minutes away. It was quite a challenge with young children because of the long walk.

We visited the castle on a Sunday, it wasn't crowded. We parked the car (at our own risk) at the school below the castle. We paid 10€ for the castle tour ticket and waited 15 minutes for the guided tour. An interesting day, full of historical information.

Love this place. I visited in the month of October , fall season added to the beauty of this place. The promenade and shops around it make the experience lively and full of warmth. In the market town you can have a taste of seasonal Federwein/ Federweißer and other forms were also available.Took guided tour to the castle which is not so far from the bahnhof (train station). There is also option to hike to the castle or go by bus.

A Nice place to visit with friends. I was new in this place but I can find my way easily with the help of google map, or just go with the flow where people are heading. Eagle and Wolf Park Kasselburg

Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
10-acre wildlife park amid 12th-century castle ruins with wolf feedings, bird shows & a petting zoo.
The bird show was a wonderful experience! Lots of different birds, they told interesting stories about the birds. Most impressive were the vultures, everybody had to lay down on their backs and the vultures soared over us at very low altitude. You can also climb up to tower of the castle that’s within the park which offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. Also went to the wolf feeding which cool to witness. The park employee explained how things work in these wolfpacks which was enlightening.
Reinder J — Google review
Pretty cool spot. I advise you to check the times for animal feedings so you can see that excitement.
Max — Google review
This was a really neat experience! You can tell the animals are very well cared as they were active and the enclosures were spotless. Very peaceful and natural environment with a gorgeous castle to explore inside and out! They have a nice play area for children, restaurants and a gift shop. We watched the wolf feeding and it was so neat. The bird show was fantastic and interactive. You can tell they really care for these animals and provided a lot of knowledgeable information during each show. Absolutely recommend coming here!
Jeff M — Google review
We so love coming here, very reasonable entrance fee. Amazing scenery, wonderful bird displays, seeing the wolves being fed and you can feed goats and sheep yourself (they really like this). Very nice restaurant and everywhere clean. The castle although partially ruined, is home to the birds in large cages and you can climb up the tower to see the views and other complete rooms and a chapel.

Was an awesome day there, a great family trip adventure and plenty to see for the kids. Don’t expect to much if your not there in time. They got specific timetables for feeding the wolfs and even a great bird show.

Great little wildlife park to spend an hour or two. Wolves, deer, goats (you can pet), predatory birds and owls. Come around 2 so you can catch the bird show at 15 and the wolves feeding at 15:45

Still the best wildpark I've been to. Make sure you pay for a ticket to go into the wolf enclosure during feeding to get the best pictures!!

What an amazing place. Fantastic castle with the added bonus of a woodland walk taking you to packs of Wolves and birds of prey. Some of the birds of prey are housed within the castle walls. The view from the top of the castle is amazing (with a 157 step spiral staircase to climb). There are daily flying displays and wolf feeding events where you can get close to both. You can also see pygmy goats and deer and buy food to feed them There is also a play area and a cafe to get hit drinks and food. Fantastic day out that wasn't too busy either.

If you come on a public holiday, I'd suggest ordering your food upon arrival. Let one of you find a parking spot, and then stand in the queue to get the food. 2 hours later, if you're lucky enough to make you understood by the waiter, you can get your "fast food" somehow ready.

(Translated by Google) Clean but inedible. Currywurst fries for €6.50 read great at first... what was offered is a lukewarm bratwurst in spiced ketchup with a touch of curry powder and fries that can be compared in quality to oven fries at home. If the simplest basics aren't even right, I'm really glad I didn't try the wild burger for €13.50. The store seems to be holding up because the park is well attended... which still surprises me.

(Translated by Google) Today, four of us were here for the second time. And certainly for the last time. The food is unfortunately terrible. The wait for food is endless, and they only serve meat. Not even a side salad or a sandwich. The park and the restaurant are open until 6:00 PM, but there was nothing to eat at 5:00 PM because the kitchen had already closed. The 8 km circular trail had some deep potholes, but it was very clean. A bird of prey show that we attended was our highlight; it was informative and you could experience the birds up close. €55 for four people was quite reasonable. The food was just sausage, schnitzel, and meatballs, with immense wait times. Gravel road with some large potholes, but clean and well-maintained. A plus was the great, large playground with lots of fun activities (carpet slide, jelly, trampolines, and much more). Unfortunately, we had to go home hungry because the restaurant was too crowded at lunch and the kitchen was closed in the afternoon. Bottom line: Once you've been there once, you won't need to go back again. (Original) Wir waren heute mit 4 Personen zum 2. Mal hier.

(Translated by Google) We have enjoyed visiting the Waldhaus Restaurant in the Daun Wildlife and Adventure Park for many years. Now we have seen an innovation in the outdoor area for the first time, that we really like: Extra tables and seats are offered for those who have been vaccinated, tested negative or have recovered. We finally feel protected at mealtimes and have plenty of seating to choose from. Overall, this security area is very spacious and there are even covered seats. At no time did we have the feeling that “unvaccinated people” were getting too close to us. This group of people has also been taken into consideration: There is a covered seating area, even with a barbecue facility. During our visit, however, we could observe from a distance that this area was completely overcrowded, probably also because of the rain. We are very pleased about this successful project, and it would be nice if this demarcation could perhaps be extended to include the sanitary facilities available there. Better safe than sorry! The irony of the story: Unfortunately, I couldn't rate the food today because I was no longer hungry due to spontaneous nausea and had to leave the park immediately.

Did a great little wine tasting as part of a Viking cruise. The host gave a great history of the winery and the tasting cellar was a great ambiance for a tasting. We tried some of the best wines, and they threw in a red they have been playing with that was actually pretty good. I think they will get there with the reds with further development. We just had a little palate cleansing bread and stuff for our tasting, but they have food and the menu looked pretty good to me. Didnot have time to go back for a full meal, but per our guide their food was very good. A nice small quaint winery, and I would recommend worth a stop in to check it out in a classically beautiful Germanic medieval architecture

Our river cruise tour took us to the Mosel wine museum in the gorgeous, wine country of Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. It is set in cool, vaulted, moodily lit cellar of St. Nicholas hospital. They have the most Moselle Riesling in the world, with over a hundred varieties. For a small fee, you can can sample any wine that you like on your own. Each wine has all off the information clearly displayed with which winery that it comes from. My wife loves wine, I don’t drink it at all, but I did really enjoy the experience. The dry wine is in one wing and the sweeter wine is in another. I actually liked some of the sweeter wines, but I was mostly there for morale support! My wife absolutely loved the wines and bought a few bottles to take to Paris. Upstairs the helpful staff made it easy to find the wine that you liked in the cellar. I suggest taking a picture of the wine that you chose, as they really have a wide selection. They even have a cool event room in the cellar with seating, tables and chandeliers. A lovely, unique experience in a beautiful, historic city on the Mosel river. A fun experience.
Kevin J — Google review
The wine museum was closed indefinitely, but we were able to explore the wine cellar. The tasting was $20+ euros with access to over 300 wines, which seemed worth it even though we originally went for the museum. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff and most wines were stocked. Would definitely recommend!

We visited here as part of a river cruise group. The place closed at five and we arrived at four. We had a blast going through the extensive cellar and tasting all the different varieties in such a short amount of time. We wished there was a wine cellar like this back home.

A superb discovery where you can help yourself to taste over 100 local wines from small to large producers at your own pace for €18 (or less if you have a Bernkastel guest pass). Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff (who very kindly spoke good English!) who were very helpful and not at all pushy to sell. You can then either buy a glass and enjoy there with a warm Pretzel, or purchase to take with you, all excellent value. A great way to introduce yourself to a wide range of Mosel wines.

This museum is really well done! The exhibits are both beautiful and interesting with gemstones and minerals from around the world by famous artists in this genre. We easily spent 2 hours here for a place that is not all that large. Loved it!

After the visit to the museum, we passed by the gift shop and bought some souvenirs. The visit was totally worth it!

A good museum with 3 floors of gemstones. The pieces are well described and there are some unique gems too. There are 2 different puzzle tracks for kids. Those make the visit for them more interesting. There is one with finding numbers and one with finding letters. Both were a bit challenging for a 6 year old. They have a Audio Guide that you can download but a QR- code at the entrance would promote it more

The Felsenkirche, a small church with a rich history, is nestled within the face of a rocky hill. Its exterior stands out amidst the rocks, while the entrance can be found through a cave-like tunnel. The interior of the church is also carved into the rock, creating an awe-inspiring sight. Perched above the city of Idar-Oberstein, this hidden gem boasts a cross made from precious stones, showcasing the town's renowned craftsmanship.
If you like history and ancient buildings this is a great place to go, a church that at the very beginning of the construction it was a castle. When you are inside you are able to see how some of the walls are just rock of the mountain. Very interesting place with an amazing story. We had an excellent guide that explained every single corner of the place. The tour was made in German and one of our friends translated in to English. I didn’t ask if they offer a tour in English but I think it should be possible. The best way to go inside is to order a tour, is nothing expensive but you need to consider that is at least for 8 people.

It was enjoyable to see the church. So impressive that it is built into the rock. We were bummed to find out that the opening hours that are listed on Google are only in conjunction with having tickets for a tour. There is a nice trail to walk up above the church to look at the ruins.

Eifelpark

Water & Amusement Parks
Family park with classic fairground & water rides, plus bears & wolves in a wildlife area.
The kids, although young (2&4 yrs), were very excited. They could enter free and played the whole day. They went on various slides, merry go rounds, minikarts, trampolines and had the best day of our holiday. Highly recommended with young kids.
Niek — Google review
I liked the park, it was fun and the day will fly by like crazy. There is rides for people with disabilities but not a right lot which is why I knocked a star off and not alot for wheelchair users. I liked the part and will go again. You can tell the animals there are also well looked after and fed which is very nice to see.
Lianne P — Google review
Nice park with well maintained decor. Lots of rides and activities for kids in the height range of 90 to 140cm. Specifically height, because that restricts the accessibility of the rides. It lacks the atmosphere of a park like Efteling, but we still spend a full day here!

We bought a season ticket, which they sell for such a reasonable price. Never too busy even during peak times. The light show was beautiful and they put so much effort into the Halloween decorations. Our Halloween obsessed boy was in heaven and has been asking to go back every day since.

My kids love this place more than Disneyland, Legoland, and Holiday Park (Plopsaland). It's a Theme Park and small zoo combined into 1. Bumper cars, trampolines, rodelbahn, roller coasters, log ride, ball pits, trapeze show, dog show, bear feeding... you name it, they probably have it. There is an amazing, large playground area that was a ghost town when we went likely because it's kind of tucked out of the way... but it's a fantastic play area with gobs of things to do and as a bonus, much if it is shaded. Most rides are catered for children 100+ cm tall but there are still plenty of things to do for smaller children. And besides, kids under 105cm are free! I highly recommend this place for families.

Amazing family-friendly park with a perfect mix of nature, wildlife, and fun rides! Eifelpark is a wonderful destination for both kids and adults. Best air museum I've visited in a long time. Great collection of aircraft with some rare ones. All looked well looked after which you don't always see when kept outside. The only negative was food options which although was unique, being inside a Concorde, was great. It would have been good to read a bit about the history of each individual airframe but would recommend visiting for anyone in the area.

Hallo It was a very good experience. I recommend everyone to go and see . This is an opportunity to get up close and personal with old passenger and fighter planes, their engines and other parts.

What an unexpected surprise...a huge aviation museum with lots and lots of aircraft to see close up. Historical jewels like the Ju-52, Comet, Il-18 or Super Connie, and rare helicopters like Mi-4 or the huge Mi-6 are among the museum's vast collection. You can grab a coffee and an apple cake in the Concorde caffee.
Ed B — Google review
Great museum with lots of aircraft on display. It is a dedicated museum and for most people in Europe and 2-3 hours drive. Most aircraft are on display outside and if nice weather a good oppertunity for families to walk around. Sadly I could not pay with a bank card in the cafe...so with no cash with me..I could not order lunch😟
Mprophet100 — Google review
Lots of Russian aircraft. Engine display is quite extensive. I found the entrance fee of € 14 a bit steep, otherwise I would have given the place 5 stars. But, you can have a beer and lunch in a Concorde.
Grant P — Google review
This is a surprisingly large collection of aircraft, most of which are western-made fighter jets from the second half of the 20th century, as well as some passenger aircraft, helicopters, soviet aircraft and other related items. However, some of the aircraft aren't in great condition and they could be better maintainrd. Still reccomended for flight and aircraft enthusiasts, and probably will keep the children busy as well.
Alex J — Google review
Great selection of planes, helicopters, technology, flight gear and engines with detailed descriptions and all of that for a more than fair price. A place built up by a passionate person. Just be aware that the "Concorde", though imposing, is a replica being a "Concorde café", just in case you go there mainly for that bird. Anyway, I recommend this place to plane enthusiasts.

Porta Nigra, also known as the Black Gate, is a grand Roman gateway dating back to 180 AD. It is the largest monument of its kind in the north of Italy and serves as a natural starting point for exploring Trier. Despite several renovation projects over the years, its imposing size and unmissable Roman design have been retained. Visitors can walk through it and even go up into it to appreciate the detailed carvings and sheer size.
Beautiful day out in Trier where this historic gateway is found. A ride in the tourist train is a must ro see the main sights which are all accessible to walk within 20 min radius. Lovely bars and cafes in the square. The Cathedral is beautiful. Home of Karl Marx, his house is good to visit too alongside the amphitheatre, palace gardens and other beautiful buildings.

Absolutely beautiful! We parked in a structure not too far from here near city center. Look in my reviews for the location. This beautiful display of ancient architecture was very impressive. There is a great place to take a picture in front of the gate towards the main road. We just stood in awe!

It's a strange thing to find such Intact and extensive Roman ruins so far north in Europe! In many ways this building is better preserved than some of the buildings in Rome itself. Very informative interpretation, reasonably priced and presenting good views of the city!

Excellent landmark to visit in the middle of the delightful town of Trier. Museum offers a unique insight into local Roman and political history. Limited public conveniences and places to rest do reduce overall enjoyment, however there's many café options and restaurants nearby.
Emma B — Google review
Amazing site to see - not often you csn see Roman ruins from the 2nd century. Built from huge sandstone blocks, some weighing 6 tons - without modern machinery. The only one of the 4 original gates still standing, it was spared because it was used as a church. Massive structure in the center of town that should inspire awe. A remnant of a different age, when the Roman Empire ruled much of Europe.
Kevin C — Google review
I visited on a Tuesday late afternoon at around 1600. It is a very well preserved Roman building, where you could enter and walk up to the third floor of the building for a ticket of €5 (Student ticket). The explanation on the history of this building was very detailed and informative. 1 hour is well sufficient for a detailed visit for this landmark and learning its history. Overall, it is a fantastic experience to learn about the history of this area and I would definitely recommend people to visit.

The exterior boasts unique decorations such as Madonnas, gold stars, water features, and oxen.

This was my first time visiting the Trier Cathedral (Trier Dom), and I was truly impressed by the grandeur and historical richness of the place. The architecture is breathtaking — a perfect blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles, reflecting over 1,700 years of history. The atmosphere inside is calm and spiritual. The high ceilings, ancient stone walls, and stained glass windows give a powerful sense of timelessness. It’s amazing to think this is the oldest cathedral in Germany, with parts dating back to Roman times. There’s also a lot to explore: the Holy Robe (Heiliger Rock), the crypt, and the quiet courtyards surrounding the complex. Entry is free, and there are brochures in multiple languages available for visitors. I highly recommend taking your time to sit quietly inside and soak in the peaceful environment. Whether you’re religious, interested in history, or just love beautiful architecture, the Trier Dom is a must-visit.

Trier Cathedral, old architecture marvel because it was built in a very old era. Beautiful historical structure with religious importance because of the holy robe. Last time it was displayed in 2012 to the public where large number of visitors came. To visit inside there are certain timings which changes from winter.

Amazing cathedral and architecture, with roots going bsck 1700 years to Roman occupation. Current structure from 13th century and stunning both inside and out. Free to enter, with several options inside to donate towards supporting the building. Hard to imagine how they built it without modern tools. The ceilings are well over 10 stories high, and they elaborate carvings and paintings are simply stunning!

There are many beautiful and breathtaking cathedrals across Germany and Europe but this one stands at the top with the best. While on the outside it may not appear as daunting or heavenly, inside is quite the opposite. What a breathtaking experience. Be sure to go down below to the catacombs and outside to the courtyard. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Trier.

It's a perfect spot for people-watching or enjoying a leisurely meal at one of the many cafes and restaurants that line its edges. The centerpiece, a beautiful fountain adorned with statues representing cardinal virtues, adds to its allure.
We were there for the weekend. The city vibe, the architekture, cuisine, smells... We bought some riesling and drank it in the main market, looking at some fine, old buildings :) What can you want more?

Classical midieval architecture with tonnes of shops and restaurants area. Much of it is very modern, so even though it is old the business is not. Still a fun place to visit, but there are so much cooler areas in Trier to see.

The Hauptmarkt in Trier is beautiful. It is very well preserved and you can feel the history from Trier here. You can spend hours walking around and enjoying the views.

City centre area with old architecture, whole area only for walking. Porta nigra and cathedral also in this area. Visit anytime, there are always people. Electoral Palace and Basilica also just within 10 mins walking from here. Whole market area with different restaurants, stores, individual stalls, old buildings, church, everything can be covered in 30-45 mins of roaming around.

This is a great place to get out and walk around. I also used parking here to go visit the city gate. It was not a far walk from here to Porta Nigrq. While we were here in the market we purchased a beautiful bone china tea cup, experience the lovely perfume stores, walked around to discover the beautiful surrounding architecture, enjoyed some delicious ice cream, sat in the center and enjoyed some coffee and a cup of chocolate. Very lovely!

Kaiserthermen

Sights & Landmarks
Kaiserthermen, also known as the Imperial Baths, is a 1600-year-old Roman bath complex located in Trier. Built in the 3rd century by Emperor Constantine, these baths were intended as a gift to the city's inhabitants but were never completed. The remaining walls stand at an impressive 19 meters high and offer visitors a glimpse into the past.
This is such an easy place to stop by quickly and check out such a historical Roman ruin and it’s only a few euros to get in. You can see everything in less than an hour and it’s quite amazing to walk through the tunnels and see the historic remains at this active archaeological site. Definitely take the time to stop by and check this amazing place out.
Dale S — Google review
Very amazing to walk in the tunnels underground. So crazy to think that the walls are almost a thousand years old. Very worthwhile to go visit.
Tammy L — Google review
This Roman ruin is surprisingly easily accessible considering its ticket price, less crowd, and close distance from the town center. Entrance is located at the Southern-west end of the palace garden. Walking through the underground isles makes you feel like you're exploring in dungeons. I brought my kids here and they really enjoyed walking here. The only disappointment is the minimal explanation available on site except the pamphlets you get at the entrance. However imagining how people would have used this place is also very fun. Similar ruins in southern Europe would be much more crowded, I presume. Nearby parking is easily accessible, too.

Impressive enough to see it from outside. Stunning! Entry cost 6€

Great Place to Visit if you find yourself in Trier. Tickets are pretty cheap and the underground passageways are exciting to explore.
Marcus C — Google review
A well preserved living museum. Easy to find, and a short walk from other tourist sites. No immediate parking, but good clean toilets and friendly staff. 6 euro for an adult entry, which is well worth it. The history is well preserved and incredible to walk around. There are also modern overview points and history boards
Greg B — Google review
Great place but we missed more information in English
Adriaan V — Google review
There was no waiting time or queue when we went in. Tickets were around €5 or €7 for two people which is not bad at all. You could easily spend there 1h-2h exploring the underground’s. I would highly recommend to visit while you’re in Trier.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Château de Lunéville, often referred to as the "Petit Versailles Lorrain," is a stunning 18th-century castle reminiscent of the Palace of Versailles. Designed by architect Germain Boffrand, a pupil of the renowned Jules Hardouin-Mansart, it boasts elegant restored rooms and beautifully landscaped gardens. Although only half of the castle is open to the public, visitors can enjoy guided tours that delve into its rich history and significance.
Free entry due to the time we went. Vast and beautifully tended gardens, lots to see and well preserved. Lunch break stroll?

When renovated one day, it will be a wonderful sight - the garden is nicely cultivated 👍

Great place to visit. Had a guide explain all about the history and it's significance. Has a place nearby that is good for a picnic as well
Nethmini K — Google review
Well maintained and historic Chateau . Parking on-site. At the reception they tried to assist with English. Parc is really well maintained.
Pranaw K — Google review
Such a big disappointment..nothing comparable to Versailles. Don’t visit it on purpose, it will bring you nothing. Even the park area is very unkempt.
Julia A — Google review
This is a place worth visiting, lots of history and art to explore, the garden associated to the building is nice, a true French garden.
Geert K — Google review
It is an important place to visit in relation to the history of France but there are not so many things to see inside and we were quite disappointed. We found the entrance fee expensive compared to what they have, but then hope that our fees can contribute to the restauration of the palace.
Cadenza P — Google review
Very disappointing as nothing had English translation. The film could have had subtitles, I'm sure you get a lot of visitors that don't speak French. The lady at the entrance spoke very good English but she didn't mention there was no English translation anywhere. Also downstairs where the toilets were was extremely smelly. The museum would have been interesting if we could have understood anything and really hated being followed into every room by a woman who watched our every move like we were about to steal something!! Not the nicest of experiences on our holiday.

Parc du château

Nature & Parks
Park
Parc du Château is a historic site located on a rise overlooking the town and valley of Epinal. The castle, originally built in the 1200s, was later destroyed in the 17th century, leaving behind impressive ruins that offer stunning views of Epinal. Adjacent to the ruins is a well-maintained park featuring a playground, small animal park, and a kiosk serving coffee, ice cream, and waffles.
One of the best places to be in. The place is located in nice. Stunning views , plenty of green space. The shady trees offer welcome respite on blazing summer days ... there’s also a artificial waterfall built in 18th century .... sea view is great...
ADITYAVIKRAM S — Google review
The castle or what used to be are nice to see. The park that is situated there is a lot better, especially if you have children. There are several playgrounds, there is a small zoo and a lot of green. Everything looks very well maintained and the atmosphere is very nice.
Jan-Willem H — Google review
Lovely park but be aware of the closing times 😀. We got locked in and had to be rescued by a friendly resident with a key 😱
Peter H — Google review
Really nice place to visit for an hour or so. Tranquil and historic too.
Alan D — Google review
A great family outing in a a beautiful city. You should start your day downtown, take pictures, have a coffee, lunch, and so shopping then go back to your car and have the rest of the day at the castle. There are many parking lots and one convenient one for handicapped. At the castle, you will find a lot of picnic spots. There are many fun areas to explore : the ruins of the castle, the huge open parc with the animals and playground. There is a carousel and snack stand but not open yet because of Covid. There are very cute buildings and if you look around, there are the names of a lot of trees so it is also a great place to teach botany to little ones. The Chateau d’Epinal is a must see if you come to that city.
Virginie G — Google review
Free to the general public and very cool history associated with it. You can go there to play around with the kids or just to see a fun bit of Epinal's history. Definitely somewhere that I plan on going back to. It's also beautiful up there, with many trees and all sorts of vegetation. You can go anytime of the year and I'm sure it'll be beautiful. Make sure you bring your camera with you!
Connor A — Google review
We have been to this place many times and it's a perfect place for those who loves a brisk walk. You will get a scenic view of Epinal once you reach at the top.
