Grad Snežnik

National museum with a broad collection of paintings & artifacts, including a 60,000-year-old flute.
Very beautiful and well-preserved castle. The surroundings of the castle with the stream and park around it are beautiful. Guided tours are available, our guide was very friendly. The interior of the castle is rich, with many original furniture and items preserved. Beautiful rooms, bedrooms and hallways. There is a wedding hall and a small souvenir shop available. I recommend the visit.

This is such a nice little castle. Beautiful on the outside and very well taken care of on the inside. I had somewhat of a private tour since I was the only one and the girl great. Her English was great and she knew so much about the castle. Any question I had about the castle or one of the items…all answered in a split second. It was a great tour! Thank you so much (took the tour on monday 10th of July 2023 at 13.00…don’t remember her name anymore, but if you read this: you were great!)

Romantic castle Snežnik. There are few castles that are equipped with original furniture from the 19th century. The atmosphere that dominates the castle will easily take you back to that time, when its owners used it as a summer residence. Snežnik Castle can only be visited with a guide. The tours start at every penalty hour during working hours and last a little less than an hour. ticket is €8 for adults

Since my last visit some years ago little has changed, ok there is now a cafe, but don't ask them for a nice ice-coffee because they don't have a clue how to make one. My biggest disappointment is that there is hardly any signs there where is what. Most disturbing is the lack of signs for the parking place. Someone even drove the car straight in front of the entrance of the castle, robbing every visitor of making a nice picture of the majestic castle entrance. I don't know who could be so inconsiderate to place his dirty old car just in front of it while there were signs not to drive in that alley and there were enough places between the trees further down where there should be signage for parking space. Because of its distant location from other places, to get there and see a pearl of history so neglected for so many years it hurts and makes you think that nobody in the near vicinity cares about their cultural and historical background.

Snežnik Castle is a truly charming location, home to one of the most beautiful castles in Slovenia. Surrounded by peaceful nature, it also offers a lovely 20-minute walking trail that makes the whole experience even more magical.

This castle is in a beautiful place, surrounded by nature. Guided tours are available and it's worth to visit the interior of the castle for its well preserved furniture. My partner and I took a guided tour in English on July 29th. The guide was very friendly and we learned a lot about the castle's history. The castle's furniture transport you back in time to the days when the castle was still in use by its owners. Highly recommended.

Military History Park

War museum
Specialty Museums
Soviet-era tanks, helicopters & the famed Zeta submarine on display at a decommissioned army base.
First stop was the cantina since it was full of military people just sitting down for lunch. 😃 Very tasty comfort food just like Grandma used to cook. Great way to begin your tour. Note that people on guided tours are allowed to enter the submarine and other exhibitions. I just wandered around like an old sea dog.
Larry M — Google review
Excellent visit to this very impressive museum. The lady on the desk was attentive and very helpful. Exhibits themselves were some of the best preserved we've seen. MoHo Parking is available (full services) and the cost (€24.00) includes two tickets into the museum. There is also a hiking trail that takes you up to some WWI artefacts.
Gareth P — Google review
Great little museum on Yugoslavia and Slovenian military history, learnt lots. It is well laid out, with WW2 and Modern artifacts. Highlights were the WW2 tanks, 88mm gun, submarine and MIG21 for me. If you have a motorhome, you can stay in the Stelplatz inclusive of the entrance fee of €24.
John W — Google review
Several nice exhibitions and a lot militairy equipment, mainly tanks and anti air. You can spent between 1 and 4 hours here. It was educational for sure and worth the visit if you are in the neighbourhood
Jan-Paul B — Google review
6.000 m2 - a lot to see, we were there 4h and some of the stuff went trough very fast. Very interesting and recommended is to see the submarine (with aditional payment).

Great place to visit. Especially if you like military history 🛩️🪖🎖️
Ana D — Google review
An excellent museum with most equipment used by the Yugoslavian army on display. A really interesting and poignant part of the museum is the history of the Slovenian War of Independence. It is extremely well presented and educational and the exhibits are amazing.
Nick S — Google review
We stopped here to visit the museum, which was fantastic, great displays and friendly staff. Part of the price to stay here €24 is entry to the museum for 2 people. Water is off at the moment (December) but there is grey dumping. Elec hook up included in price, need Euro adapter. Reasonably quiet but you do here trains and trucks on the road. Security also came in and checked the area while we were there. When we purchased our tickets our registration was also taken. We would stay again to spend more time in the museum as they have some amazing military machinery on display.

Nestled near Trieste, the Val Rosandra Nature Reserve is a hidden gem that beckons outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. This stunning valley, shaped by the meandering Rosandra River, boasts breathtaking geological features such as towering cliffs, enchanting caves, and a spectacular 30-meter waterfall. It's an ideal spot for hiking and cycling; former railway tracks have been transformed into scenic bike paths perfect for exploration.
Attractive hiking paths - might get crowded on sunny weekends! Some nice spot for a short swim as well. ! hours walk to the big waterfall. The ascent to the vase is a bit tricky - good hiking shoes are essential.
Igor F — Google review
This hiking trail leads to a stunning waterfall. If you're brave and prepared, you can explore the other side of the mountain, but it's risky. The trail is partially marked, so be careful. Still, the views are incredible, and there are hidden pools and natural slides along the river, perfect for swimming in warmer months!
Sara D — Google review
The natural beauty of this reserve is beyond words. From several points up on the Draga Sant'Elia side you can see Trieste and the sea on the horizon, it just takes your breath away! Rock climbing, walking and biking trails reaching several little villages on the Slovenia and Italy side where you can stop for a delicious meal and some good wine. The gorge's creek (Rosandra) ends up into a a small lagoon with a breathtaking waterfall. Enjoy your trip!
Letizia B — Google review
A natural reserve with nice hiking and biking paths, a huge climbing area. There are a lot of small villages with restaurants and apartments. There is an amazing view over the city of Trieste.

The Monumento Foiba di Basovizza stands as a poignant reminder of the tragic events that unfolded in 1945, when approximately ten thousand individuals lost their lives at the hands of Tito's communist partisans. This National Monument not only commemorates those who perished but also symbolizes the broader suffering experienced along the eastern border during the tumultuous end of World War II.
Monument dedicated to those lost during Fascist rule. The unfortunate were killed and thrown into a hole, which is the Foiba. Its currently got a lid on top. It's a sobering place. Small "museum" on site to explain more. Just 15 minutes outside Trieste. Should visit.

Skocjan Caves

Nature & Parks
The Skocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are an extraordinary subterranean network of caves and canyons formed by the Reka River over thousands of years. The 6km-long cave system features fossil-filled chambers and a river that flows into the Dead Lake before resurfacing as the Timavo River in Italy. Visitors can explore this remarkable natural wonder on a flat walking tour, admiring its unusual karst landscape and historical significance dating back to prehistoric times.
What an amazing place! A beautiful walk through the caves. At the end, you can choose one of three trails: 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour. I highly recommend the 1-hour trail, as it gives you access to more caves and bridges. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance, and I recommend bringing a raincoat and waterproof boots or sneakers
Manuela B — Google review
The caves are worth seeing, although it is quite dark inside (for good reasons), and a lot of detail can't be seen. There are hundreds of steps, mostly going down inside the cave. Once the guided tour was completed, I took the exit to the left which includes two options, a 30 minute path or a one hour path. The one hour path was fantastic. There are so many points of interest worth capturing on camera, especially a waterfall. The end of the path was all up hill, with many elongated steps. The rest is along a road back to the parking lot. The morning was all sold out if tickets were not bought in advance. The afternoon was less busy. A free museum of how the explorers found and traversed the cave is under the information centre. A gift shop, cafe and large seating area was available inside and out.
Niki — Google review
Amazing, monumental, huge and much less commercial and crowded cave than postojna. I really recommend this one for people who want to experience one of the most amazing cave of the world. The amount of space, of the water and beauty inside is just overwhelming. Parking is free, same with toilets. The pace was just a little too fast for people who are less than average sporty. Overall 10/10 Important information: you absolutely cannot take photos inside
J ( — Google review
Grand. On one level just a large cave complex (dry side) but then the river cuts through the cave and its is magnificent and huge (and for me terrifying). Guide was good and nice to have some time for exploring. Be warned, lots of walking.
Stefan S — Google review
Stunning. We were actually unsure before the tour, and it's true you have very little choice during the tour but follow guide and group like a sheep, especially if there are many people like when we visited. But at the same time this cave system is breathtaking. Of course I would enjoy a different way of visiting, slower, with more time, less people. But if that's the only way it's still worth it! But you should be afraid of heights ;) The information at the Park are actually very poor, the information center was already closed before our tour ended, that was a bit disappointing..
Scarlett M — Google review
I absolutely love caves and visit them anywhere in the world that I can, but this is amazing. It's huge inside. Also the extra walk after the cave tour is equally as good as the cave itself. Spend the extra hour and take the extra steps to make the trip worth it.
Gabe R — Google review
Awe inspiring cave that is a UNESCO site. There is a massive gorge with a river running through it that is like something out of the Mines of Moria. This is an absolute must visit if in beautiful Slovenia. You can’t take photos inside the main caverns only on the outside areas.
Tyler G — Google review
Beneath the surface lies a hidden world of wonder. Just across the border in Slovenia, a country of breathtaking nature, mountains, and castles, you'll find a place of incredible beauty and astonishing statistics: Škocjan Caves. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to one of the largest underground canyons on the planet. Carved by the Reka River, this massive canyon, up to 140 meters high in some places, is a spectacle to behold. The sheer scale is mind-boggling, with the incredible Martel Chamber, one of the largest cave rooms in the world, boasting a volume of 2.2 million cubic meters. Walking through the canyon, you'll cross the Cerkvenik Bridge, suspended 47 meters above the river, and witness other wonders like the 15-meter-tall "Giant" stalagmite. It's a humbling and awe-inspiring experience that reminds you of the immense power of nature. Have you ever visited a place that took your breath away? One important note for your visit: please do not use flash photography inside the cave!

Lipica

Lipica, located in the southwestern corner of Slovenia near the Italian border, is home to the renowned Lipica Stud Farm. This historic stud farm has been breeding unique white Lipizzaner horses since 1580 and offers popular guided tours in multiple languages. Visitors can explore the farm's heritage, witness horse performances set to Viennese waltzes, and visit the picturesque pastures and stables. The tour concludes with a visit to the informative Lipikum museum.
Winter weather visit but you can still see the famous horses here. Not everything was open, so I mostly had the entire experience without crowds of visitors startling the horses. Well stocked souvenir store and if it's important to you the toilets were very clean and comfortable. My only negative thought was that the carriage displays are in desperate need of non-glare glass, impossible to see the displays in the daylight hours without smashing your cupped face right up against the glass.
Larry M — Google review
A tour is offered in five languages (EN, DE, IT, FR, SL) every two hours. The tour is lovely, just the right length to be informative and not long and you get to see the main points of the farm. I would highly recommend booking the horse show. There's playgrounds outside of the farm if you have kids.
Lenart — Google review
I have ambivalent feeling after the visit of the farm. Although it was a nice Sunday afternoon activity, I somehow expected the experience to be different. Better, let’s say. The farm itself is nice, but things that are there to visit are less impressive. The museum exposition has reached its expiration date. The walk around stables is nice, but you can’t visit as many buildings as you would like to. (Or as many as are noted in the guide pamphlet) The display of the carriages should at least be enlightened, as you see more of your reflection than of what is behind the glass. We also went to see the show, it was just okay. The whole presentation of it on the website raised expectations that were not really met, in the end. But it still was an experience and afternoon well spent. And finally, the fact that there is Casino and paid parking lot in middle of all this makes this place looking cheap and obscure.
Denisa V — Google review
A wonderful place to visit with family even young children. There are many places to visit to learn about the history of the stud farm and the reading of the show horses. If you plan well you can also take in a show here and it is well worth the time to do so. There are places to eat and have refreshments so it is easy to make a day of it here. Plenty of places for the young ones to play and run around.
Mark H — Google review
A fun day out for anyone with even the slightest interest in horses. As well as the informative displays and museums, there’s nearly always something else going on to keep you entertained, whether it’s training or competitions.
Cai — Google review
Victoria (apologies for the English spelling!) was a fantastic guide on our tour today, she was funny, knowledgeable, and kind. We did the tour, the museum, and the dogs are allowed everywhere except the riding school/arena if you plan to see a demonstration. However, the staff will walk your dogs for you while you watch! A great time of year to go, if you wish to see the foals. I throughly recommend this to anyone, not just those who are interested in horses as the history and the area is beautiful.
Tom P — Google review
Disappointed with the guided tour today (9th June @ midday), the guide was rude and shut a few people down when they asked questions. She snapped if they wanted to know that they, " Should book an expert tour!". Which they do not offer! She could have just said she didn't know. It was awkward and unnecessary. The rest of the tour was a bit light on information for anyone who is into horses and wishes to understand more about the breeding and training. Seeing the mares and foals was lovely, but apparently on other days they are usually not there at midday and are out in the field grazing, so the best time to go is around 9.30am to see them gallop out to the field. Temper your expectations...and enjoy?
Niamh S — Google review
A must-see in Slovenia – even if you’re not a horse lover! We spent a day at the Lipica Stud Farm and were absolutely enchanted. The grounds are straight out of a picture book – vast green meadows, white wooden fences, and beautiful old trees everywhere. You can freely explore the stables on your own, but I highly recommend joining a guided tour: it’s available in several languages and gives fascinating insights into life at the farm and the history of the Lipizzaners. The dressage show was another highlight – top-class riders and stunning horses in perfect harmony. But nothing beats the magical moments in the morning and evening when the herds are let out onto the pastures. Watching hundreds of these elegant, powerful horses gallop into the open fields is a memory we’ll never forget. Admission isn’t exactly cheap, but what you get in return is well worth it – even for those who wouldn’t usually consider themselves horse enthusiasts. A truly unique experience in a beautiful setting.

I simply love this place. The whole city is amazing as are the people! So beautiful and picturesque there is just something simple yet mysterious about this place If there is one pls d to add to your “must see before I die” list then this is it! We spent the day at Lake Bled coming off a cruise ship was its a side trip to this city and were blown away by what we saw Suggest taking a tour group to see the place for a greater appreciation of the historical significance of many landmark places here. Ours was amazing ! TRIVIA - And if you look through my photos you will find a face built into the door out of brass. Ljubljana Castle, a medieval fortress towering over the townhouses below, offers a captivating journey through history and culture. Visitors can ascend to the castle via a glass cube and explore its first-rate museums, including the Virtual Castle showcasing its development, an exhibition on Slovene history with insights into socialist Yugoslavia and the Ten-Day War, and the Museum of Puppetry. The stocky Clock Tower provides unparalleled views of the old town and distant Kamniske Alps.
Great castle experience! The funicular ride up is convenient and fun. Lots to explore once you’re there, with something for everyone. The puppet museum was a fantastic surprise - definitely don’t miss it. Highly recommended! The view from the clock tower is amazing.
Giacomo B — Google review
I'm disappointed. It's not worth the 15 euros. The only thing you have to pay for is to climb the flag tower. All the exhibition halls contain mostly textual information that can be found on Wikipedia. So, essentially, you can come here for free, stroll around the castle square without a ticket, and enjoy the tour. The castle grounds are also beautiful. I recommend walking up the hill instead of taking the funicular. It's a good workout! And be prepared to pay for the restrooms, even if you have a ticket. Overall, it's worth a visit, but without buying a ticket.
Roman B — Google review
The history of a fortess on this site go back to the 11th century but the castle that stands here today was built under Frederick III of Habsburg as a stronghold against the Ottoman Empire. The beautiful decorated St George's Chapel dates from this time. It was extensively renovated over decades using lots of concrete as you can see all around. There is not much to be seen of the old csstle. Left and right were some interesting details like the old prison and the small armoury. When you climb the tower via the double red winding stairs you get a nice view over the city. Entry to the castle is easiest with the funicular which is included in the ticket price.
Seimen B — Google review
A historic castle overseeing the City of Ljubljana. The view is absolutely splendid and one can have a 360 view of the whole City from the viewpoints at the castle walls. It's well maintained with little museums located within the castle. There's also a wine bar and a lovely restaurant. One can choose to walk up to the place or simply take a funicular ride to the top. There's also a small parking lot right in front of the entry door to the castle.
Haris D — Google review
Easy to get to ...funicular is a 1 minute ride. Castle is now theater. galleries, museum, restaurant plus the castle itself with nice viewing tower. Area of improvement is the signage. As the signs were not clear I just couldn't find the puppet museum which was the main reason of my visit.
John C — Google review
Great views and atmosphere - but pricey if you’re going inside! Ljubljana Castle is definitely worth walking up to, even if you don’t buy the ticket. I didn’t go inside, but the views from the outside areas, the courtyard, and the paths around the hill are fantastic for photos, especially near sunset. The castle itself looks beautiful and well-preserved, and the walk up is quick and enjoyable. The only downside is the €15 ticket price (as of Nov 2025), which feels a bit high compared to similar castles. I’m guessing it’s partly because it includes the funicular and helps support ongoing renovations and events - but still, it’s a lot if you just want a short visit. Overall, a must-see spot for views and atmosphere, even without paying to enter.
Manu — Google review
Beautifully preserved castle with stunning panoramic views over Ljubljana. The mix of history, architecture, and modern exhibitions makes it a must-see. The walk up is lovely, and the tower viewpoint is absolutely worth it. A perfect blend of culture, scenery, and atmosphere.

The city's most important attraction. It's impressive. From the top of the castle tower, we can admire the city panorama. The ticket price includes entry to the tower and exhibition hall, as well as a ride down the funicular. I highly recommend it.

Inside, the high ceilings and big stained-glass windows are so pretty. The organ is huge and cool to see, even if it’s not playing. It’s free to enter, which is awesome, and it’s not too crowded. The history feels alive with all the old details around you. I loved the calm and peaceful vibe inside. It’s great for a quick visit to soak in some beauty and history. The location makes it easy to stop by while exploring Ghent. Definitely worth checking out!

Beautiful cathedral and beautiful pipe organ. My son got a one in a lifetime opportunity to Ply the 100 yr old organ because of the kindness of the church staff. Thank you.

Originally built as a Romanesque cathedral in the 13th century, St. Nicholas Cathedral was rebuilt after a major fire in its current Baroque style in the early 1700s.

This has to be one of the most beautiful cathedral in Slovenia? Beautiful paintings and the interior is superb! I was recommended by a stranger to visit and we did , entrance fee is €3 per person and definitely worth it
J — Google review
Unfortunately, we couldn't get ilas it was closed for tourists on that exact day, so I couldn't compare to other to other cathedrals. The outside architecture isn't that impressive (in my opinion), but there were some interesting ornaments and details.
Лъчезар А — Google review
Worth it for the 3 euros entry fee. Note that it is open during certain times of specific days. For Sunday's it's open from 10 to 1 and 4.45 to 8 (around that time)

What a magnificent cathedral with such rich history. The inside of the church was simply magnificent. The place also had a lot of peace, calm and serenity to offer to connect and say thank you with gratitude to whichever Gods or religion you pray to

Dragon Bridge, also known as Zmajski Most, is a pedestrian-friendly art nouveau bridge in Ljubljana, built in 1900. It is famous for its series of dragon statues that guard either side of the bridge and smaller griffins adorning its lamp posts. The bridge spans the Ljublanica river and is a popular spot for tourists to take photos due to its remarkable dragon sculptures modeled after the city's coat of arms.
We loved visiting Ljubljana and seeing the Dragon Bridge. Such a wide variety of things to do and see. Highly recommend the City Hotel and we enjoyed dining at Most restaurant.
Steve F — Google review
Ljubljana's Dragon Bridge in Slovenia is an iconic representation of Art Nouveau architecture, drawing visitors from far and wide. The bridge's four imposing dragon statues, one at each corner, command attention. Strategically located in Ljubljana's historic center, the bridge crosses the Ljubljanica River, facilitating social exchange. Fascinating local myths surround the bridge and its dragons, such as the story that the dragons acknowledge a virgin's crossing with a subtle movement. The concrete bridge has earned the colloquial nickname 'mother-in-law' from some locals, who find the dragons' fiery demeanor both captivating and intimidating. The Dragon Bridge, a masterpiece designed by Slovenian Jurij Zaninovic, stands as a testament to the city's resilience. This stunning Art Nouveau bridge was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Hapsburg Emperor Franz Josef's reign, with the dates 1848-1888 elegantly inscribed on its side. A symbol of hope and renewal, the bridge honors the emperor's contributions to the city's revitalization after the devastating 1895 earthquake. Conveniently located, the bridge is within walking distance of iconic landmarks like Ljubljana Cathedral, Ljubljana Castle, and the vibrant Ljubljana Central Market.

The Dragon Bridge in Ljubljana is one of the city's most iconic landmarks, symbolizing Ljubljana's identity. It is located in Ljubljana's city center over the Ljubljanica River. The bridge is famous for its four large bronze dragon statues—two at each end—and sixteen smaller dragons decorating the bridge's span.
Kevin A — Google review
Definitely my favorite bridge in all of Europe, because I love dragons. And this was very close and walkable to my hotel and in the center of everything there is to do in town definitely worth a stop and it even is the site of a geocache.
Jeff C — Google review
Nothing too special on its own, but the dragon statues are iconic and symbolic to Ljubljana. Definitely worth a quick stop and a photo if you’re exploring the city.
J — Google review
Impressive dragons decorate this Art Nouveau bridge that was built between 1900 and 1901 and the first with a reinforced concrete structure in town. The story goes that the dragons are tied to the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts, who are said to have founded Ljubljana and slain a dragon nearby.
Seimen B — Google review
Beautiful large green dragon statues built in 1901. Locals say tshe dragons wag their tails when a virgin crosses the bridge (a fun old joke among residents).

It's a bridge with Dragons on it. We counted at least 20. Good place for a photo. Some people may say its crowded but I'd say it has atmosphere with people stopping to take photographs or passing by as they head to the nearby cafes and restaurants.

Prešeren Square is a bustling pedestrian hub and popular meeting place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It holds historical significance as it was once the meeting point for several roads and an old entrance gate to the city. Named after Slovenia's national poet France Prešeren, the square features a large statue of him and hosts concerts and events during the summer.
Beautiful main square of the city centre. Truly enjoyed the bridges and the wonderful art installation of rain. Bustling with people but a lovely atmosphere. Try to get yourself a free walking tour to explain further the importance of the square and the history behind it.
Abe D — Google review
This is a charming square that is the starting point for all the streets and alleys of the old city. There are lots of charming restaurants around with a relaxed atmosphere along the banks of the river. The beauty and cultural richness are evident from every angle. It's fun to wander and get lost here.
Charlie B — Google review
One of the most beautiful old town squares where multiple streets end here. You can follow those streets to find nice restaurants, cafés, local market, boat trips by the river, and more. Or just enjoy the walking among beautiful buildings and tiny alleyways.

Prešeren Square is one of the most beautiful and lively places in Ljubljana. It’s surrounded by charming architecture and connected to the famous Triple Bridge (Tromostovje), which adds a unique and picturesque touch to the area. The square is impressively clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasant spot for a walk or a break. There are many cozy cafes around where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. The place is always full of life, with both locals and tourists passing by, which gives it a special, dynamic energy. Definitely a must-visit when in Slovenia!
Anđelka J — Google review
1 | Prešernov trg is the central square of Ljubljana, named after the Slovenian national poet France Prešeren, whose statue stands at its center. Surrounded by important landmarks like the Franciscan Church and Triple Bridge, the square is a key meeting point and pedestrian hub in the city. 2 | A unique attraction in the square is "The Area with Ljubljana's Own Weather." It’s a spot in the middle of the round square where it’s always raining, and there’s even a traffic sign warning you about it. There aren’t many trees or shade in the square, so it gets really hot in the summer. The city addressed this by installing a water mist system. One of the artists then placed a traffic sign next to the wet pavement featuring an umbrella and a cloud. 3 | The square also features the Statue of France Prešeren, a Slovenian poet who stirred quite a bit of controversy in the first half of the 19th century. The statue itself has also been controversial, as it includes a depiction of a bare female chest. This is visible from the church in the square, which didn’t sit well with church officials. 4 | The square is definitely worth a visit — if you’re staying in Ljubljana for a few days, you’ll likely pass through it more than once. On summer evenings, you’ll often see street performers there, and the most popular one is the guy with the giant soap bubbles.
Petr N — Google review
Plaza Prešeren is the vibrant heart of Ljubljana, always buzzing with life. Surrounded by elegant architecture, lively cafés, and the iconic pink Franciscan Church, it’s a perfect spot to soak up the city’s charm. Street performers, locals, and travelers mingle here, making it both a meeting point and a cultural hub. From the square, you can easily wander into the old town or cross the Triple Bridge. A must-visit for its energy, beauty, and central role in Ljubljana’s daily rhythm.
Dani B — Google review
Prešeren Square is the lively heart of Ljubljana, where history, architecture, and local life meet. Surrounded by landmarks like the pink Franciscan Church, the statue of France Prešeren, and Plečnik’s Triple Bridge, it’s the perfect place to start exploring. Just a short walk away is the iconic Dragon Bridge, guarded by Ljubljana’s famous green dragons. During summer, every Friday, the center comes alive with Odprta kuhna (Open Kitchen) — a vibrant open-air food market offering dishes from all over the world. In the mornings, you’ll also find fresh local fruits and vegetables for sale at the nearby central market, making it a great stop for food lovers and casual wanderers alike.

Great central location, great service. The staff were very responsive to help us with any issues. The room is compact and comfortable. The kitchen is a bit of a tight squeeze but is well equipped.

Great location and great price. Everything you'd need. The bedroom is separate to the main room and it has a kitchenette, it is centrally located too with a large choice of bars and restaurants close by. Even though they are close we never had any noise problems. I don't think I would go back to Ljubljana again as I think I have experienced everything it has to offer but if I did go back I would stay here again.

Skofja Loka Castle and Museum is a restored 1200s fortress that offers a glimpse into art and history through its exhibitions. The museum also includes a medieval farmhouse. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque Capuchin Bridge north of the old town, offering an iconic view of Skofja Loka. The castle may seem small from the outside, but it houses three floors of interesting history. Some rooms are colder than others, so visitors should be prepared for varying temperatures.
Great castle with three floor with different exhibitions. Entry fee only €6 for an adult which is a bargain considering what you get for your money! It was quiet on a Sunday afternoon which was good. There is a cafe and free parking however, you can walk up to the castle from the town centre. The views of Skofja Loka are good from the castle.
Christian C — Google review
Wonderful walk thru the city of Skofja Loka. We drove up to the castle and had no problem parking. We basically had the place to ourselves and enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits housed in the castle. A little history about the castle...in the 12th century on the hills above Škofja Loka stood three fortifications: the Upper Tower on Krancelj; the Lower Fort (nider vest); and the Loka Castle, a residence of Freising Bishops, built at the brink of a natural terrace. The castle is first mentioned in 1202 as castrum firmissimum, although today's building dates from the 16th century. The castle was rebuilt in 1691 after an earthquake.

Had an amazing time exploring Škofja Loka Castle! 🌿🏰 We wandered through the beautiful castle garden — such a peaceful spot. After that, we grabbed a drink at a cozy little bar nearby. The views from up there were absolutely stunning — the whole valley laid out below. Incredible atmosphere, definitely one should not miss this place!

Super place of interest! The castle has three floors, each with different exhibition, displaying history, local customs and traditions. There are also paintings and stuffed animals. Museum itinerary can be followed by children too. The personnel is helpful and the ticket is very cheap. You can also take a walk in the garden, which has various piece of interest. Absolutely recommend!

It’s more of a museum rather than a castle. It’s an ok castle, and you will not feel yourself visiting a castle really.
Mishal A — Google review
The castle is in the beautiful village of Skofa Loka which is full of wonderful buildings, situated along a clean wide river. The castle is very scenic from the outside and has a good value café where I had a delicious homemade lemonade. There are plenty of places to eat in the village too and shops, both tourist and regular. The village and the castle are well worth a visit. It is easy to get too, about an hour or so by bus from Ljubljana.

Incredible part of WW2 history and a reminder of things that happened in that time, what people sacrificed to help others and how tough they were. A beautiful path leads to the site and it can be a bit slippery in places, so be careful. The site was heavily damaged in a flood years ago, but was renovated and represents the history faithfully. Worth a visit!
Aljosa T — Google review
I underestimated the extent and organization of the hospital. They even had an X-ray machine, which I find totally impressive. Especially the fact that they had to power it somehow in those woods with a water-driven generator. Well worth the visit.
T. X — Google review
Let’s not forget those who gave thier lives 75+ years ago, so we can live peacefuly and in freedom. They were from all nations, they fought, they won, so us, future generations of that time, can prosper. Let future generations of ours learn and remember this, so that such horror never repeats, despite some trying to change historical facts. That’s what you can see and learn at The Franja Partisan Hospital.
Mitja R — Google review

Unique historical site with secret hospital from WW2 made by partisans during German occupation. Hidden in Pasice gorge it was used to treat 578 heavily injured soldiers and 500 of them survived. Although it was attacked multiple times by Germans it was never occupied.

Really cool place hidden in the valley. Loved the way the exhibition was made, with small stories and facts connected to every building. A nature experience as well, walking in the narrow gorge.
Simon T — Google review
It is a must-see for anyone interested in World World II history. It is amazing, how the brave Slovenian partisans managed to maintain, down a narrow gorge, a hidden functioning hospital (including a surgery room) for treating their sick and injured (as well as rescued allied combatants) - right under the nose of the occupying German forces.

One of the most beautiful places in Slovenia) We climbed the Rivka waterfall in the spring (when it's warm and the mountain tops are still snow-capped😍) and then rested in the valley itself. Unfortunately, we didn't have bicycles with us, but we did have a scooter🙂.

An absolutely fairytale-like spot, with scenery that feels almost Swiss — at times even Norwegian. The valley is breathtaking, with sharp color contrasts and sweeping mountain views. There’s plenty of space to walk around or ride a bike, and the road leads straight to the waterfall trail, which is an easy 15-minute walk. Definitely a place where you’ll want to linger, because the views are just unreal.

10€ per car for entry. The various parking spaces within the valley are then included. Worth it if you take the time to enjoy the valley. Take the time to walk the various trails, have some local food and see Rinka Waterfall at the end, or perhaps climb further to the mountains from there. Saw some cute highland cows too.

There's also an Adventure Park and other attractions like tube rides and free fall simulators.
went at 13:00 and it took an hour and a half to get to go up by ski lift (would recommend just walking up- around 20 minutes up a trail(so not directly up!) but was an excellent ride! beautiful views from on top.
Pritham N — Google review
Stunningly beautiful but so so busy! Very difficult to travel around by car during peak times and reaching the car parking on a single lane road was a bit difficult. The toboggan run was super fun, get there nice and early to avoid long queues. Plenty of other activities to enjoy while you’re there as well. The people running the toboggan looked very fed up 😢
Andrew C — Google review
Great last second addition to the trip! We found ourselves with a little extra time and had heard about the roller coaster ride from online. We came here around mid-October and both the roller coaster and chair lift were still open so we decided to give it a go! Of course the coaster was a ton of fun but the line was a little long. The best part is at the top there is a view of the lake where you can get a similar view as the hikes at the south side of the lake without needing to hike up! Totally worth a visit if you have time!
Kevin B — Google review
Unfortunately didn't manage to get on the toboggan because of 2 hours wait time!! I really don't understand why it take so long for the queue to move as you can see a lot of empty chairlifts going up. I am pretty sure if you can get on the toboggan it will be very good fun
Joe W — Google review
Got there around 12:30 and the waiting time was estimated at 90 minutes. Accurate, but so worth the ride and the tobbogan ride. Amazing views. Facilities on site and toilets were 0.50€
Chill K — Google review
- Come early in the morning before the lines build up, as they have to put the toboggans on the lift chairs and control the people at the top so only every 3-4 chairs is one group allowed up. - Don’t wear a hat as they’ll ask you to take off before it flies off during your ride - Parking is 3 EUR at the grounds - Brakes is operated by you but leave some space between the person infront of you if you want to go full speed (no brakes)
Zi W — Google review
Awesome experience, great view, good staff. You can use gondola to climb and get down with tobogan. I was scared at first, but staff made me feel so safe. Highly reccomend! Great for kids also! Check their website for working hours!
Dzi D — Google review
Way more fun that I thought I was going to have! Paid for 1 journey up on the ski lift and 1 toboggan. I'd actually recommend doing 2+ toboggans because the first and only time we did it we were a bit hesitant and then immediately wanted to try it again but faster! Beautiful views. Don't trust Google and their timings, check their actual website instead as they are open every day from 10am in summer, we went for 10 and no queues at all.

Bled Island is a significant landmark featuring a 15th-century pilgrimage church and a medieval castle perched on a cliff. For an aerial view of the island and the church, visitors can hike to Ojstrica Hill or other higher locations for more privacy. The island is also known as one of the most romantic places in the world to propose, offering stunning sunset views above the lake.
After hearing so much about the famous Lake Bled in Europe, I finally got to see its beauty today. Visiting in mid-February during the off-season, the lake wasn’t its usual bright blue, but it was incredibly peaceful, allowing us to fully appreciate its natural charm. We rented a wooden paddle boat from a nearby restaurant and B&B for €25 per hour, and the owner was absolutely helpful. It took us about 15 minutes to reach the island. While there aren’t many attractions on the island itself—entering the church costs €12.50—the most magical part was simply drifting in the middle of the lake. There’s also a hiking trail that takes you halfway up the mountain, offering a stunning panoramic view of the lake. I highly recommend it!
Awesome G — Google review
Anyways we reached Bled around 9:30 am and then we went to the Bled Island Electric boat. The first one of the day departed at 10 am. There was about 12 of us on it. It was funny because the driver is like, you really only need 10 minutes on the island but I’ll come back in an hour. To be honest, he was definitely right!
Josh B — Google review
The panoramic view is amazingly great! However, there’s nothing to do there except walk up the stairs and enjoying the landscape. Also, this type of activity worth doing one in life but still €20 per person is a high price for the boat 🛶. Plus, I noticed that they only take cash (you should Pop machine as tourists sometimes have no access to cash). Note that you may have to wait for the awhile till the boat is completely full of people.
Rashad H — Google review
Picturesque island with a picturesque church. 99 steps to climb to church. Many steps to climb the bell tower. Only way to get there is by row boat, which cost 20E per person. And you have to return to the boat in 40 minutes.

Ivy N — Google review
Bled Island is truly a gem nestled in the heart of Slovenia, offering visitors an enchanting blend of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. As you glide across the serene waters of Lake Bled on a traditional *pletna* boat, the island's picturesque silhouette grows ever more captivating, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. Upon arrival, the island welcomes you with its lush greenery and a sense of timeless tranquility. However, it's important to note that your time on the island is somewhat limited if you arrive via the boat tours, which typically allow for just one hour on the island, as you are required to return on the same boat that brought you. While this may seem brief, it’s more than enough to explore the island's key attractions and absorb its serene atmosphere. For those who prefer a more leisurely visit, there is also the option to rent a rowboat from the other side of the lake and reach the island independently. If you choose this option, your time on the island is entirely at your discretion, allowing you to linger and explore at your own pace, free from the constraints of a scheduled return. A visit to the Church of the Assumption, perched proudly at the island’s highest point, is an absolute must. The church’s interior is awe-inspiring, with its baroque frescoes and the famous wishing bell, which legend says grants wishes to those who ring it. However, be aware that there is an entrance fee to enter the church, and it's worth considering the family ticket option if you're visiting with loved ones. The island also boasts a charming souvenir shop, filled with a delightful array of handcrafted items. Each piece is a testament to the local artisans' skill and creativity, making it the perfect place to pick up a memento of your visit. The exquisite craftsmanship of these souvenirs ensures they are as meaningful as they are beautiful, making them a wonderful way to remember your time on this magical island. In summary, Bled Island is a destination that enchants all who visit, offering a peaceful retreat with just a few logistical considerations to keep in mind. Whether you choose the structured boat tour or the freedom of a private rowboat, the island’s overwhelming charm and beauty will surely leave a lasting impression. It’s a place where memories are made, and where the soul is nourished by the stunning interplay of nature and history.

Getting to Bled Island itself is a memorable experience. You'll take a traditional pletna boat, which adds a touch of old-world charm. The skilled pletna rower will guide you smoothly across the calm waters of Lake Bled, offering stunning views of the lake, Bled Castle perched high above, and the surrounding mountains. The Church of the Assumption of Mary, a Baroque beauty, is the heart of the island. Its striking white facade and distinct bell tower make it hard to miss. Inside, the ornate altars and lovely frescoes invite contemplation. The real highlight is ringing the church bell—it’s said to bring you good luck, and it adds a delightful touch of tradition to the visit. Make sure to climb the bell tower for sweeping views of the lake and the mountains. The ascent is well worth the effort, and you’ll be rewarded with some of the best photo opportunities around. The island itself is small but lush, with pathways winding around its gardens. I enjoyed the peaceful walk, listening to the sounds of nature and absorbing the serene atmosphere. The island offers plenty of benches to rest and admire the surroundings.

It's most beautiful from the outside when looking at it from a lake path or especially from a boat which you can rent on the mainland.😃 Then you can park the boat at a designated spot on the island and explore a little bit, which is a magical experience.

Lake Bled is a picturesque destination, surrounded by mountains and forests, with a charming island that houses a historic church. The high season runs from May to October, attracting tourists from various countries. The local cuisine offers modern and diverse dishes, including homemade pasta, soups, and smoked trout specialties. Visitors can enjoy tasting menus featuring light and fresh dishes made from natural ingredients.
Very beautiful place, truly dreamy It’s an absolute must-see when visiting Slovenia. I went there in October, there were some people, but it wasn’t too crowded.

Idyllic, restful & charming place to visit! Lovely to take the Pletna boat to visit the church, walk around the lake and climb up to the church & castle! Blessed to be able to enjoy the beauty of this lake & surroundings!

A lake with a small island and being overlooked by a castle on an intimidatingly high hill. An absolutely gorgeous lake. I’d recommend two days in the area, with one dedicated to the lake and castle.

Bled is a must visit if you are in Slovenia. We came around end of September, got caught in the rain for the first night but the second day was perfect with sunny weather. Not too crowded during our visit. We love it
J — Google review
It’s our first time in Slovenia so we had to see iconic Lake Bled. We spent 4 hours walking around the lake and taking our time to enjoy the place. It’s beautiful as in a fairytale and there’s plenty to do, toboggan, kayak, SUP, take a pletna boat to the island, just walk around, have a picnic. It’s perfect. There’s definitely tourists around, like ourselves but it wasn’t overcrowded on the day we went in late September. We parked at Straza Bled, found the price most reasonable amongst other carparks for the distance to Lake Bled. 3€ for first 2 hours and 3€ for every next hour. It’s also right next to the fun toboggan.

The island of Maria on Lake Bled feels both real and timeless. I stumbled upon this as the weather shifted, the sun breaking through while a gentle rain fell, creating a moment that felt almost otherworldly.

One of the best lakes in Europe to relax and enjoy. The church is located in the middle of the lake. We can visit the church via rowing boat. Unfortunately we don't have enough time to visit the church and castle. Overall the lake is worth seeing.

Bled Castle, a clifftop fortress dating back to the 11th century, stands proudly overlooking Lake Bled. Originally built in 1004 by Emperor Henry II, it was later inhabited by the Bishops of Brixen for over eight centuries. The castle has undergone renovations and expansions throughout the Middle Ages, including the addition of a chapel and other structures. Visitors can explore its museum and partake in various activities tied to the castle's history for an entrance fee.
Small castle view amazing views. Amazing views. Castle itself is rather small but the vibe is great. You really get the feeling of medieval times. There's also great view over the island in the middle of the lake. Went there 2 times in one day: first in the morning, just to tour around, no line, very few people. Easy to get around. Second time went for the dinner in the restaurant that is located in the castle. Sunset over the lake and even less visitors. Restaurant offers inside and outside seating depending on the weather. Views are amazing for both options. Everything is clean and cozy. Really recommend!
Margus M — Google review
The climb up to this castle is pretty steep, and tickets aren’t exactly cheap. If you don’t plan on actually going inside, it might not be worth the effort, since you won’t really get any accessible viewpoints from the top without paying for entry. We had already visited plenty of other spots in the area, so we skipped it this time – maybe next visit. Still, feels like the tickets could be priced a bit more reasonably.
Karol K — Google review
Went to Bled castle on an organized trip, so I was already sorted for the tickets. The main attraction of the castle are the views on the lake, which are quite spectacular. There is a small museum with the story of the castle and of the lake (including the island), a restaurant, toilets and also a souvenir shop. Overall we spent 1h here which I think was appropriate to take photos and explore the museum.
Andrea L — Google review
A really interesting and almost mystical medieval castle. No long waiting lines — entry is quick and easy, whether you pay in cash or digitally — and suddenly you’re standing right inside history. At the top, there’s a cozy café where you can enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake, which I can honestly recommend. Sitting there with your coffee and cake, looking down at the lake far below, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. You can see the boats on the water and the mountains all around — the panorama is absolutely stunning. After that, you can take a short walk through the castle, visit the small museum, explore the souvenir shops, or taste and buy local honey and wine. Toilets are available, and there’s parking right in front of the castle, though it’s a bit pricey at around 3 € per hour. Families can get a family ticket, which is a bit cheaper. We ended up spending almost the whole day there because it’s simply beautiful — peaceful, full of history, and absolutely worth a visit. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bled.
Andre B — Google review
The castle is very well preserved (it is worth paying for the access) and offers a very beautiful view over the the lake and the island. On a personal note, I think it is more spectacular on the inside. It is the best way to end a nice walk around the lake.
Bogdan B — Google review
No drones allowed. So I don’t know how people get the arial shots. Guttenburg print press shop on site where you can customize your own print. Honey shop where you can have a honey tasting. And a fine dining restaurant where, if you reserve, can have free entrance to castle included. The castle is a fantastic vantage point to see and photograph Bled Island. However if you go late in the afternoon the sun will be in your face and the island will be in the dark.
G. C — Google review
I walked up to Bled Castle from a bath by Lake Bled. It took around 10 minutes and was mostly smooth gravel or stairs, very easy to navigate (some people were going up with prams). The castle itself is amazing. You pay to enter (16 euros at the date of my visit) and can go to various viewpoints, the museum and buy drinks and snacks to enjoy overlooking the lake. Although in peak summertime, I arrived around 8:30 (it opens at 8am) and it was so quiet meaning I could take all the pictures I wanted, wander around, and grab the best seat to chill for a few hours.
Charlotte M — Google review
Brilliant views of lake Bled, there is a small very old wine shop where you can do wine tasting and also buy unique great wines from the region. Bottled right in front of you by a really friendly host who has great stories to tell. Lovely wine too. There are Cafés and restaurants if you want to grab a quick bite. Parking is right below the castle. The views alone are worth the price of the ticket

Triglav National Park is a vast biosphere reserve named after the 2,864m-high Triglav mountain. The park offers a range of outdoor activities and sightseeing opportunities, from hiking and climbing to exploring emerald waters and majestic peaks. Visitors can explore Lake Bled, surrounded by lush forests and overlooked by a medieval castle, as well as take in the stunning views of the park's imposing cliffs and Russian chapel.
Triglav National Park is a beautiful area and has plenty to offer for those who enjoy outdoor activities, both active or simply hiking. The scenery is absolutely spectacular, the country is neat and tidy and the people are very friendly.

Beautiful place that is out of this world. Breathtaking and simply magical - a must-see! There are various ways to access the national park - there is a well-maintained road accessible for all and car parks along the route. It is a popular trail for cyclists and the road can be quite narrow for overtaking vehicles, so keep that in mind if you plan to travel during peak season and exercise due caution.
Charlotte M — Google review
It is a very beautiful place. We will definitely come back but definitely for a longer time. There is so much to see and where to go. I personally tried the lake and I loved this place.

A great hike with a lot of nice places to visit all have great views of nature. I went there and saw a bunch of beautiful views of the river in the pictures. The trail is easy to follow and is not difficult to get to the end. You can also see some of the famous sites like the bridge and two really nice rivers that connect into one river. So yea i recommend it but you can’t litter and you have to buy a ticket. Some hikes are steep but others aren’t so if you like walking or hiking its good for both. Some places aren’t as beautiful as others though. But it’s worth it so go.

Tolmin Gorge The road from Zatolmin to the village of Čadrg leads to the Tolmin Gorges at the very entrance to the Triglav National Park. The easy circular path (2 km /1.2 mi) ) takes you through the lush forest down to the vivid emerald river and over the bridge. If you turn left, you walk along the aquamarine Tolminka river through the narrow natural tunnel and you’ll soon reach the small cave with a thermal spring – one of the five main attractions in the gorges. In our opinion that’s the most stunning part of Tolmin Gorge – when the light shines through the narrow gorge, the bright turquoise river flowing beneath you, and the sparkling water drops sitting on moss-covered walls create quite a surreal scenery. Coming back, at the right sight of the bridge, there is a confluence of the two rivers – a lovely spot to just sit and “take it all in” or take a dip into the refreshing stream on a hot summer day. Next to the confluence, you find another bridge– ideal for those who are after picture-perfect photos . The slightly narrow path will take you along the Zadlascica river where you’ll reach another natural attraction of Tolmin Gorges – Bear’s head. A big rock, stuck between the walls of the gorge resembles (with a little imagination) the head of the Yogi bear so hence the name. To reach the fourth attraction in the gorges, Dante’s cave, you have to walk up the steep path and stairs. A legend says that this cave was supposedly visited by Dante Alighieri himself in the 14th century and served as an inspiration for hell in his famous work Divine Comedy. Dante’s cave is 1,1 km long and has 3 underground halls – but can only be visited with the right hiking equipment and a guide. While walking downhill towards the parking lot you pass the last attraction – Devil’s bridge, which is located 60m above the Tolminka river. The view of the river below is stunning – and head spinning. TIP: If you’re coming from the south, make sure to stop at the Solkan bridge, the world’s longest stone arch railroad bridge. Yep – the longest IN.THE.WORLD.

Triglav National Park, the only park in Slovenia, is located near Bled. Lake Bled is very beautiful small lake with an island in the middle. There is a church built in 17th century on the island and can reach by a rowing boat. The national park included other places with a water fall, more lakes for water sports and hiking. The location for the waterfall is 25 minutes drive from Bled lake and pass other lakes for water sports. There is a big parking lot and nice restaurant but parking got full by 11 am on holiday or in high season. The waterfall is not accessible directly by car. Have to climb up 20 minutes and not accessible for person with limited mobility. The waterfall is actually small and not very impressive, not allowed to swim or jump but scenery is beautiful. I saw many people coming up with water sport equipments without knowing it. It is much better value to park in one of the lakes open for water sports. Cable car and gondola 🚠 station is also in the national park and this is recommended but parking will be totally full before 11 am in summer even on Monday.

Triglav National Park is truly one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Located in the Julian Alps, this national park offers breathtaking mountain views, crystal-clear rivers like the Soča, peaceful alpine lakes like Bohinj, and the iconic Mount Triglav itself. Whether you’re into hiking, climbing, biking, or simply enjoying nature, Triglav has something for everyone. We hiked to stunning waterfalls, explored scenic trails, and were amazed by the unspoiled nature and clean air. The park is well-marked, safe, and full of photogenic spots—perfect for outdoor lovers and adventure seekers. If you’re planning a trip to Slovenia, visiting Triglav National Park is an absolute must! Perfect for a summer holiday, weekend getaway, or mountain escape.

Absolutely worth visiting! If/when I come to Solvenia again, this is where I'll spend my time. I only visited for a day and this park is way too big and has way to much to offer for that. I could easily have spent a week hiking here.

Soteska Vintgar, discovered in 1891, is a 1.6-km gorge with a 500-m span of bridges and galleries. It's a popular spot that can get crowded with tourists, but it's worth the visit. You can even bike there from Bled in about 25 minutes. The wooden walkway crosses over the rapids of the Radovna river for almost a mile, offering stunning views in all weather conditions.
The gorge is wonderful, path is well maintained and secure (you need to wear a helmet). Please be aware that access is regulated via an online ticket service (you can also buy a ticket at the Parking 1 but not at the entrance!). They let you in exactly (!) at the minute printed on your ticket, not a single minute earlier (we tried). The gorge is 1.6 km and easy, the way back to the entrance is a lot longer. You have the choice of either a mountain path (alpine) or a more covered one (forest) which is also slightly shorter. We took the forest one as the sun was strong, a good choice though notice that the last half of the way back is without cover to protect yourself from the sun. All in all a worthy trip. Park a Parking 1 for free as the parking at the entrance costs 10 Euros otherwise!

Amazing experience but plan ahead! Vintgar Gorge is absolutely stunning and definitely worth a visit! I highly recommend buying your ticket online in advance, it saves a lot of time. If you’re coming by car, parking is free, but be careful: the first parking lot is paid and doesn’t belong to the gorge. Drive a bit further to the second parking area, where staff will guide you where to park. From there, an electric shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes and takes you directly to the gorge entrance (cars are not allowed beyond this point, only motorcycles or bikes). ⚠️ Important: your ticket is only valid for the 20-minute time slot shown on it, the gate opens only during that time! 💧 There’s also a free restroom available at the entrance. All in all, very well organized and the nature is breathtaking, a must-see when visiting Bled! 🇸🇮💚

Nice atmosphere and worth of visiting. Tickets required. If bought in advance through the internet, you can park directly at the entrance. If you want to buy tickets on site, you need to drive couple km back to the central parking where the ticket office is located. From central parking free shuttle would drive you at the entrance...

We did the full round trip at Soteska Vintgar and loved it. From Bled we took the bus to the Vintgar starting point, and after the walk we returned to Bled with the same bus - included in the ticket price. Tickets for the trip can be bought online. Buses run every 15–20 minutes, and you can also start from the Vintgar parking if you come by car. The whole experience took around 3 hours. The trail goes along the river, through the forest and meadows. The gorge is stunning, with wooden paths above crystal-clear water and the sound of the river all around. Peaceful, fresh, and absolutely worth the visit.

Very beautiful gorge! We took the guided tour which is available everyday at 4 pm. Highly recommend taking this tour if you would like to listen and understand a bit of the history of the gorge. Our guide Domen was very kind and helpful. He took us through the longest but most beautiful trail through the gorge. The trail has a bit of an incline climb but the absolutely worth the view if you are up for a little hike. He also got some Slovenian herbal tea for us to have after the hike which was very thoughtful 😊

A truly beautiful gorge. We were here in October and it was wonderfully peaceful. The gorge is truly stunning, well worth the effort. We explored the gorge with our guide, "Jan," and it's highly recommended! Jan is an experienced, enthusiastic, and friendly guide. He led us through the Vintgar Gorge and shared many interesting stories along the way. Jan also had a good understanding of the group's needs. We had a Fantastic day! Hvala Jan
Luc C — Google review
Most beautiful hike (intermediate) we did in the area. Views are mesmerizing and there are options for a small and a big one. Can walk across the forest or along the river on the way back.
Nishtha S — Google review
The gorge is beautiful and a great experience, also for children. It’s important to spend some time reading the website beforehand to understand how to get there, the different route options, and other important details. It’s a very organized site, and preparation really helps to make the most of the visit. For families – you can pick up a booklet with activity accessories for kids at the entrance booth. Most of the activities are set along the return trail through the forest and the scenic viewpoint over the valley pn the way back. Our kids (ages 9 and 6) absolutely loved this experience! At the end, they received a small souvenir. We completed the trail in about two and a half hours and walked fairly quickly because we were worried about missing the last bus back to the parking area at the end of the day (buses run until 20:00, then shuttle vans until 21:00 – we visited in July). On the way back, as you exit the forest, there’s a restaurant with a well-maintained playground. It looks like a great place to stop, but unfortunately, we didn’t have time because we were in a rush.

Warmest lake of Austria!(IMHO) Klopeiner See, located in Carinthia, is one of Austria’s warmest and sunniest lakes, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The lake is known for its crystal-clear waters, which often reach pleasant temperatures perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, and boating. With well-kept beaches and designated swimming areas, it's a fantastic spot for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to relax by the water. The lake is surrounded by a variety of restaurants, offering easy access and convenient amenities for visitors. For a fee of 6 to 7 euros per day, which includes parking for the entire day, you can enjoy the lake's public beaches, showers, changing rooms, and other facilities. In addition to water activities, there are plenty of scenic walking and biking trails around the lake, offering picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Klopeiner See has a lively, welcoming atmosphere while still offering spots to escape the crowds, making it a great blend of relaxation and recreation. With nearby dining options and excellent facilities, it’s an easy and enjoyable day trip destination for anyone visiting Carinthia.

The Lindwurm Fountain is a historic masterpiece from the late 1500s, featuring a stone sculpture of a winged dragon that depicts the city emblem spewing water. This fountain is an excellent example of Mannerism, weighing six tons and consisting of two monolithic pieces sculpted in 1593. In addition to the statue of Heracles, created forty years after its initial construction, there are finely wrought iron decorations around it that complete the assembly with heraldic motifs.
Visited during Christmas times and it was surrounded with beautiful lights. I would suggest to the Town Hall to add a sign with the story behind it i think it’s very interesting to tourists.

Minimundus, established in 1958, is a must-visit tourist destination featuring over 150 intricately crafted models of world landmarks set in a lush park. The attention to detail in the designs, made from various materials like marble and sandstone, accurately simulates famous structures such as the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, and Statue of Liberty.
We visited this place around 10AM on a Sunday and there were still enough available spaces for parking. They have a lot of miniature attractions around the world but there isn't a single one from their neighboring country, Slovakia, such a pity. Anyway, the facilities are good. There are toilets, restaurants, and benches where you can get some rest. The ticket is not cheap but worth it. A family could stay the whole day because there is no time limit and there are a lot of things to see.

I must say I was quite impressed by this place. It's not very big, but it's really beautiful. The tickets are affordable and, if you're in Klagenfurt, I think it's worth seeing. There's also a coffee shop inside if you want to have a drink or something to eat. I highly recommend it!

We had a really nice trip. We went around the world in three hours and had a fantastic time. We all enjoyed it, my husband and I, but also our children. The weather was warm and sunny so we were really lucky to walk around the park, enjoy and take pictures. This is my big recommendation for all parents because it is guaranteed to be a good, beautiful and useful time. The park is excellently and creatively done, there is an inner and outer part of Minimundus as well as a big wheel. There is also a gift shop with souvenirs and a restaurant where we had lunch.

Nice experience. Big free parking in front. Adult ticket was 21€. The park is not too big, not too small. You need 2 to 3 hours to see everything. The mini replicas are very detailed. The plants, flowers and grass are all curated in a way to fit into context of the minimundus. Many of the replicas are animated... mini trains travel around, crains loading containers on cargo ship, wind mills, water mills, space shuttle... everything moves. Really nice. There is also a bar and restaurant inside if you get thirsty or hungry and a panoramic wheel if you are not affraid of hights. Recommended.

Observation Decks & Towers
The Pyramidenkogel Tower is a popular attraction in Klagenfurt that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and Lake Worthersee. It features an observation deck, as well as a covered slide that provides visitors with a thrilling experience. The road leading up to the tower can be challenging for inexperienced drivers due to its steep and twisting nature. The parking lot is free and spacious, while the building's entrance is well-maintained.
Really interesting free standing structure in the middle of the forest overlooking the lake with great views. Made entirely of wood from the region, it takes on this grey color which makes it pretty interesting. There is a slide that you can take from the top to the bottom. You can get to the top via elevator or by stairs. I do recommend taking the elevator as you can spend more time at the top to soak in the views and then slowly walk down. This is definitely not for those who are afraid of heights as it is completely open (but still safe - sufficient barriers).

Great panoramic view over Lake Wörthersee and the surroundings – definitely worth visiting once. Parking is easy, the tower is modern and clean. Perfect for photos and a short trip, but honestly, it’s a “see it once” kind of place – no real reason to come back again.

The Pyramidenkogel Tower near Klagenfurt is absolutely worth a visit. We were lucky to have a beautiful clear day, even though it’s already October, and the views were simply breathtaking. From the top, you can see for miles in every direction, the two surrounding lakes glistening below are magical, and the little peninsula of Maria Wörth looks picture-perfect from above. To the west, the Alps rise majestically in the distance, completing the stunning panorama. A truly beautiful spot and an experience not to be missed! Make sure you come back down using the slide! A definite crowd pleaser

Pyramid Tower - an attraction for taking amazing photos - meeting point of the borders of Italy, Austria, Slovenia. The entrance fee is not cheap for a family of 2 + 2 (13 and 17) including sliding down the slide, a total of 53 euros. There is a large and tidy parking lot (2 lots). After payment, there are 2 options for going up. Elevator or stairs - about 12 steps up, not easy but challenging. The 10th floor is closed and pleasant (on a rainy day) you can go up to the 11th and 12th floors, open to the whole view and a place to take photos of the entire area.

Great panoramic view on the whole lake , impressive structure. Best to take the elevator up, and the stairs to get down, so you can really enjoy the scenic view. Parking was a bit tricky on the hilltop, as it was a busy day, but eventually found a spot.

Fabulous views of the surrounding area An impressive structure made of wood and metal, which offers fabulous views of the surrounding area - a lake, mountains. The height of a 12-story building. A separate attraction is a descent along a metal pipe from a height of 52 meters - the highest in Europe. The pipe runs inside the tower. I highly recommend it.

WOW! 👍👍👍🙏👍 Just go here! +60 meters closer to the heaven. 🥰 The view is out of this world, totally stunning... The long and winding road up to the hill can be a challenge, but it is safe. Please go there it is worth 15€ is very worthy.
Ulf A — Google review
Everything is fine there, except the price of 17 euros for the view. 5-10 minutes to see the area from the tower, nothing else to do there. The the view is great, but feels like "rip off".

Wörthersee, located in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, is a popular destination known for its stunning blue-green waters and breathtaking sunsets. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as swimming, boating, and cycling around the lake. The area also offers a picturesque countryside with small farms producing agricultural goods. Additionally, the charming village of Micheldorf is just a short distance from the lake, adding to the allure of this scenic region.
We visited Wörthersee during New Year's holidays. The Velden city is small, nice decorated with lights, cafes are open in the evening, hot wine and apple pie are delicious there ☺️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing place for relaxation and nature lovers! We spent a few peaceful days at Wörthersee and absolutely loved it. The water is crystal clear with beautiful turquoise tones, and the surroundings are breathtaking – calm, clean, and surrounded by mountains. There are plenty of quiet spots to relax, swim, or take a walk along the shore. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone looking to unwind in nature. Highly recommended – we would love to come back again!

Here are 2 of the best trails around: 1. Wörthersee Rundwanderweg • Distance: 55 kilometers • Difficulty: Moderate • Duration: 12-14 hours (can be split over multiple days) This is the most famous trail around Wörthersee, circling the entire lake. The trail offers breathtaking views of the lake from various vantage points and passes through charming villages such as Velden, Pörtschach, and Maria Wörth. You can explore forests, hills, and lakeside paths. The trail is well-marked and can be done in stages, making it accessible for all levels. 2. Pyramidenkogel Trail • Distance: 10 km • Difficulty: Moderate • Duration: 3-4 hours This trail leads to the Pyramidenkogel, a 100-meter-high wooden observation tower that offers 360-degree views of Wörthersee and the surrounding region. The hike starts in Reifnitz and takes you through scenic forests before reaching the summit. The ascent is a bit challenging, but the panoramic views from the top make it worth the effort. You can also take an elevator down after exploring the tower.

I love this lake. We go here every other summer, and I can’t be more happy here. I would definitely recommend a stay in Klagenfurt, but also in Velden!

A hidden gem 💎 yet to have international tourists invasion .. the west side of the lake is nicer with a lot to restaurants and options

A turquoise blue lake, mountain views and lush green nature. Wörthersee is a place which makes you to feel relaxed from the beginning. I think the only problem is that all the lakesides are surrounded by private beaches and hotels. However, there are lakeside locations that you can access for free. Especially Velden is an ideal town for having a walk and having a nice meal.

Beautiful place where you can enjoy a clean lake view with a walking track at one side. Lots of water sports activities and boat cruises are also available but only during summer. In winter everything stands still except 2-3 restaurants. We visited in winter so we witnessed Very few tourists and an ample amount of locals walking on the track and too many senior citizens (old to very old) were there.

Perched on a rocky outcrop in the heart of a picturesque plain, Hochosterwitz Castle is a medieval marvel with a history dating back over 1,000 years. This imposing fortress boasts 14 defensive gates and offers panoramic views of Slovenia and East Austria from its elevated position. The castle's walls and crenellations wind their way up the mount, leading to the formidable fortress at its summit.
It’s an absolute gem! Perched dramatically on a hilltop, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The climb up through its 14 fortified gates is a unique experience, and the well-preserved architecture makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Inside, the small museum and charming courtyards add to the castle’s historic charm. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves history, stunning landscapes, and fairytale-like castles!

A powerful castle from the outside, the view is wonderful from the top. But the fee is very high for basically nothing, one room and a restaurant, even the most basic shops, we were surprised and not in a good way, we have already been to castles with a lot of investment that had something to see...

Hochosterwitz Castle stands as a magnificent testament to medieval architecture, perched atop a 150-meter-high dolomite rock in Launsdorf, Austria. Its commanding location not only offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Carinthian landscape but also highlights its historical significance as a strategic fortress designed to withstand sieges and invasions over centuries. Visitors often describe the journey to the castle as an integral part of the experience, with the walk up offering spectacular scenery and a sense of anticipation, although the castle can also be accessed via a funicular for those who prefer an easier ascent. The castle's defining feature is its series of 14 fortified gates, each representing a different aspect of medieval defensive architecture. These gates, which served as formidable obstacles for invaders, are a major highlight, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the castle’s rich military history. Walking through these gates not only provides insight into medieval siege tactics but also amplifies the sense of stepping back into a time of knights and battlements. The structure’s well-preserved architecture, including towers, battlements, and defensive walls, underscores its importance as a resilient stronghold during the Ottoman invasions and other historical conflicts. Inside, the castle boasts a collection of medieval weaponry and armor, as well as a museum that showcases its layered history. The interior spaces, including a castle chapel, armory, and various courtyards, reflect a blend of functional military design and past aristocratic lifestyles. The armory, in particular, is a fascinating display of medieval warfare, while the castle’s panoramic vantage points provide stunning views of the lush Carinthian landscape, emphasizing its military and scenic importance. Visitors often remark on the unique experience offered by exploring these historic interiors, which are complemented by occasional displays of contemporary art integrated into the historic setting. The history of Hochosterwitz dates back to its first mention in 860 AD. The castle was fortified extensively in the 16th century, notably under the patronage of the Khevenhüller family, transforming it into one of the most formidable military bastions of its time. Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience and a vital part of Carinthian cultural heritage, attracting thousands of visitors annually who come to admire its historical architecture, sweeping views, and intriguing stories. The experience of visiting Hochosterwitz is enhanced by its accessibility and the variety of activities on offer ranging from exploring the castle grounds and towers to engaging with its cultural exhibitions. The site’s scenic location, historical depth, and well-preserved structures make it one of Austria’s most impressive medieval castles, celebrated for its architectural grandeur and panoramic vistas that extend over the rugged landscape of Carinthia. Whether as a day trip from nearby towns or as a historical pilgrimage, Hochosterwitz remains an iconic and awe-inspiring monument to Austria’s medieval past and enduring strength.

The castle is set in a beautiful natural surrounding and is impressive through the number of gates you have to go through to enter it (or conquer it in the Middle Ages). The tickets are quite expensive (we paid 77 euro for a family of 3 with one-way lift access included). If you purchase 2-way lift access, they are going to be more expensive. You can also climb and descend on foot, in which case the tickets will be a little cheaper. There were 2 exhibitions in the main castle: a permanent one, which looked a bit dusty and old-school, telling the history of the castle and the family owning it. The temporary exhibition was dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, and costed extra. There are also a restaurant serving local specialties, toilets and a gift shop. Most defense towers and gates are either permanently closed or under renovation, so they cannot be visited. You can have some amazing views of the surrounding areas from the top level.

Entry is a bit pricier, but the castle is totally worth it. The walk to the top is easy, no need to take the lift (except for visitors with health impairment). Adequate parking right by the gate. Restaurant at the top was a pleasant surprise, decent food and prices not through the roof. The place was not super crowded and you can comfortably buy tickets at the spot.

A special place where the ancient history still lives on. Could get 5 stars when the museum becomes updated. The views are stunning. The food is also good and affordable considering the location. Can however be difficult to find a parking.
Harald — Google review
The medieval castle is one of the most beautiful in Austria. You can take the elevator, or you can hike up, which takes about 30 minutes.

Beautiful castle, free parking nearby but you need a ticket to even start walking to it. It is worth it though
