Nestled in the heart of Bali, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a captivating Hindu temple complex surrounded by lush jungle. This enchanting destination is famous for its playful long-tailed macaques, who roam freely among ancient temples adorned with intricate carvings. Visitors can immerse themselves in both nature and spirituality as they explore this community-led sanctuary, which serves as a hub for scientific research and cultural preservation.
The Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud was one of the highlights of my trip to Bali. The moment you step inside, you feel like you’ve entered a magical jungle—huge banyan trees, moss-covered statues, and peaceful temple ruins all hidden within the forest. It’s not just a tourist attraction, it really feels like a sacred place. Of course, the monkeys are the stars here. They’re playful, cheeky, and endlessly entertaining to watch. I loved seeing them jump from tree to tree, care for their babies, and interact naturally with each other. It felt like being a guest in their world rather than just looking at animals behind cages. What impressed me most is how well the sanctuary is maintained. The paths are clean and easy to walk, the temples are stunning, and there are staff around to make sure both visitors and monkeys stay safe. I also appreciated the clear rules—they remind you to respect the animals and enjoy observing them without disturbing their natural behavior or even to feed them. I’d recommend going in the morning when it’s cooler and less crowded. Bring your camera (you’ll want a hundred photos!), but keep your belongings secure because the monkeys are curious and love to “borrow” things.
Souad Y — Google review
This was my 4th time visiting the monkey forest and I loved it. Despite what you hear about monkey aggression, you just have to follow the rules and signs. I did make eye contact with a monkey by accident and it grabbed me which I found quite funny to be honest. It didn’t hurt me, and it was my mistake lol. To add to that, I have never been attacked or seen anyone badly injured here. Honestly, it was heartwarming to see the local Balinese bonding and feeding the monkeys, you can tell they are trained and know what they are doing. I really enjoy the fact that these monkeys are able to free roam. It may be scary for humans, but it is great that they are not chained or caged. It is so nice to see the Balinese genuinely care for these gorgeous animals. At the end of the day, you are in the monkeys home. Treat them with respect and they shall leave you be. It’s a really beautiful and breezy area. The natural landscape of this place is breathtaking.
Erin M — Google review
A nice casual walk in the park. There are a lot of monkeys but they are not aggressive. There are conservation staff around to park to ensure that the interactions between the guests and monkeys are safe and ethical. The monkeys are not particularly afraid of humans and may climb onto a person, although no feeding is allowed. Most part of the park is shaded and in forest area. Bring bug spray. There’s a nice and easy walking trail through the forest and lots of relics to look at.
Lydia M — Google review
Such a magical and unforgettable experience! The Monkey Forest Sanctuary is absolutely beautiful, lush, peaceful, and filled with nature’s charm. The monkeys are playful and fun to watch (just keep your belongings safe!). I loved how well-maintained and organized the place is, with helpful staff and clear paths through the forest and temples. It’s the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and nature all in one spot. A must-visit when in Ubud!
Kat S — Google review
Surpassed any expectations I have had about the sanctuary. I was a bit scared and nervous coming to the place. However, if you follow the rules, monkey will leave you alone and do they own things and they're very useo to human. It was an amazing experience to observe the monkeys in their habitat. The place was very well maintained and reasonable price for entry tickets.
Gough S — Google review
Great place to visit! I had a really nice time walking through this tropical forest filled with monkeys. There are plenty of them everywhere, and watching them was a lot of fun. The whole walk was relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely worth a stop when you’re in Ubud.
Mirek W — Google review
This place is absolutely beautiful, magical, and full of wanderlust energy! Monkeys are everywhere swinging from trees, lounging on railings, and living their best lives. The forest itself feels like stepping into another world, surrounded by lush greenery and ancient temples covered in moss. It’s incredible to watch these monkeys up close (just hold onto your belongings!). I had such a fun and unforgettable experience here. The monkeys truly seem to be living great lives in their sacred jungle home.
Rachel F — Google review
Be careful >< I had some Keychain on my bag, Litteraly at the exit, one monkey took 2 of them.. I was able to grab one back. Anyways don't have anything outside the bag, water, Keychain ecc, no sunglasses and I would be careful also with earrings. We needed like an hour to see everything inside, it's nice and the monkey are mostly doing their things, eating, running ecc. I did not pay for have my photo taken, if I remember correctly was 50k for the service. Just be respectful, I took photo of the monkey but didn't get to near, just walk and leave them alone. When there's a lot of people can be stressful for them.

Flea & Street Markets
The Ubud Art Market is a bustling hub of Balinese craftsmanship, offering a diverse array of unique items such as handicrafts, batik, accessories, and clothing. Visitors can explore the market's offerings and haggle with vendors for one-of-a-kind souvenirs. It's recommended to compare prices across different stalls, negotiate with sellers, and inquire about the authenticity of goods.
I really enjoyed visiting Ubud Art Market. It's full of colours and I loved walking around and exploring the different stalls, each selling unique handmade decor, bags, coasters, jewellery and souvenirs. Most of the vendors are warm and welcoming. Bargaining made my shopping experience even more exciting! Carry cash!
Neetha A — Google review
Most of the prices are 3x the selling price we see at stores in Sanur Harbor. Even if you haggle, you will just be able to haggle it to the original selling price. So don’t buy unless you don’t have time to look elsewhere or want a challenge to haggle until you deem the price is worth the item. We were able to buy some items that I didn’t see in other places like the patched up pants.
Corinne — Google review
A vibrant place full of handicrafts, souvenirs, and Balinese art. Prices can be quite expensive, so make sure you have good bargaining skills. Parking is a bit difficult, but aside from that, it’s a great spot to explore and experience the local atmosphere.
Romie M — Google review
A large market with many similar stalls—it can feel a bit repetitive, as most shops sell the same items. Prices are inflated for tourists, so bargaining is expected, and you can often bring the price down by half or more, which makes it hard to know the real value. While the setting is lively and picturesque, giving you a nice spot to wander if you’re already in the area, it feels more tourist-oriented than authentic. We noticed the same goods being sold in many other parts of Bali, so don’t expect unique local craftsmanship here. Do check out the second floor if you visit, but overall, I wouldn’t return as it lacked originality.
Shivangi G — Google review
Ubud Art Market is a vibrant and colorful place that truly reflects the artistic soul of Bali. Located right in the heart of Ubud, this market is packed with beautiful handmade items — from wooden carvings and rattan bags to batik clothes, paintings, and jewelry. Every corner is filled with creativity and craftsmanship, making it a must-visit for anyone who loves local art and culture. One of the best parts of shopping here is the bargaining experience. The initial price that vendors quote is usually much higher than the actual selling value, so don’t hesitate to negotiate — it’s part of the fun! In many cases, you can get items for half or even one-third of the first price if you bargain politely and with a smile. For example, if something starts at 300,000 IDR, you can often get it for around 100,000 IDR or even less. It’s a great feeling when you walk away with a good deal while supporting local artisans. Just take your time, explore the different stalls, and enjoy the friendly conversations with the sellers. Overall, Ubud Art Market is not just a shopping stop — it’s a cultural experience where your bargaining skills can truly shine!
Dikendra G — Google review
Products are costly here because tourists place. Shop owners know this. But you can get products in cheap prices after bargain. You can easily bargain 50% less price and shop owners will agree. I purchased the similar products outside the market with less price and same quality. Rest, Street Style Market, you have to walk a lot between the shops. Must Visit but do not buy anything unless you really liked it. Check out the images for more information.
Deep S — Google review
Pretty big market full of souvenirs and clothes. Everyone is happy to bargain, basically the price they tell you at first is always highly overpriced. If the say something cost 300k you can buy it at 150k easily or start bargaining and get it down to 50-100k rupees. Never ever accept initial pricing. We bought a bunch of souvenirs and clothes here. Pricing for the magnets is about +-20k, most of the clothes (tshirts, shorts, etc) you can get at 50-100k.
Ilya L — Google review
Lovely place to get all your bits and pieces to take back home. Shop owners didnt really push you to buy like I've experienced at Kuta market.

Tegenungan Waterfall

Waterfalls
Tegenungan Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder nestled in the heart of Bali, just a short drive from Ubud. This picturesque waterfall cascades through lush jungle surroundings, creating an idyllic setting for visitors. While it’s one of the most popular waterfalls on the island and can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours, visiting early in the morning offers a more tranquil experience before the crowds arrive. The area features shallow bathing spots perfect for cooling off and several nearby cafes that enhance its vibrant atmosphere.
This is a must-see if you're in the area! The trail to the falls is a moderate 1.5-mile hike with some beautiful scenery along the way. The waterfall itself is stunning, with a powerful flow, especially after a recent rain. The spray feels amazing on a hot day. Make sure you wear good hiking boots and get there early, as the parking lot fills up quickly on weekends. The way towards is waterfall makes you more and more eager to reach there. Sound of the water can be heard from far away. Restaurants and cafes available nearby. Too many scenic and photo oriented spots here. We loved the place. At the entry point, some sort of tatoos are stamped on our hands. A beautiful nature spot indeed.
Chinmay K — Google review
Fall is good but quite far away from the viewpoint. No proper way except hiking to reach near the fall and enjoy at the fullest. You need to be fit to roam around. Facilities need to be elevated in the area for a better experience
Rizwan G — Google review
One of the most easily accessible waterfalls in Bali. Although there is a flight of stairs to reach the fall, the steps are not that steep and has enough space to take rest for a while climbing up or down. There is a lively club called Omma and it is very beautiful. The fall is very popular among tourists specially with family and kids. People can easily take a dip in the waist deep water. A very photogenic spot and one should spend some time there. Sit back and relax for a while.
Birat B — Google review
Tegenungan is one the most famous waterfalls in Bali and also one of the highest in the Ubud area with its 15 meters. It generates from Petanu river. The bottom pool can be reached by going down some stairs and you can swim into it. The upper level can be reached by going up other stairs, but requires an additional payment.
Francesco X — Google review
Nice scenic view of the waterfall and the nearby Glass Bridge. There's a hotel overlooking the waterfall and some shallow water for swimming. Getting down to the river is a steep descend and after that you need to climb back to the top. The height of each step is a stretch and not suitable for the elderly, children and people with mobility issues.
Simon O — Google review
I visited Tegenungan Waterfall during my time in Bali, and it was a beautiful and refreshing experience. The waterfall itself is stunning — powerful, scenic, and surrounded by lush greenery that makes for an incredible backdrop. Whether you’re standing at the bottom taking in the full force of the falls or viewing it from higher up along the pathways, it’s a sight that really captures the natural beauty Bali is known for. There are multiple viewing points and photo opportunities, so you can take your time exploring and snapping pictures along the way. The walk down to the waterfall does require navigating stairs and some uneven areas, so be prepared for a bit of a workout — especially when you’re making your way back up. But the views and the sound of the rushing water are worth the effort. The surrounding area has also been built up with cafes, swings, and little spots to sit and take in the scenery, so you can make it a nice relaxed visit if you want to stay a while. It can get crowded, especially during peak times, but even with other visitors around, the atmosphere still feels peaceful and enjoyable. Overall, Tegenungan Waterfall is a beautiful stop for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone wanting a little adventure paired with gorgeous scenery. If you’re exploring the Ubud area, it’s definitely worth adding to your itinerary.
Latisha D — Google review
Nice waterfall and restaurants with a view on the waterfall. I was here in off season and crowds were acceptable. During high season I expect too much tourist. You can dip yourself in the water but beginning is a bit rocky to walk into.
Klaas B — Google review
Lovely location by the waterfalls and surrounding area. Busy during peak periods but equally hot, hot, hot! Loads to eat and drink and relax! NICE 👌🏽

Tegallalang Rice Terrace

Mentioned on

Scenic spot
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled just 30 minutes north of Ubud, Ceking Rice Terrace is a breathtaking destination that showcases the stunning beauty of terraced rice paddies surrounded by lush greenery. This picturesque landscape is not only a feast for the eyes but also an excellent example of traditional Balinese farming practices, particularly the subak irrigation system, which has been in use since the eighth century.
I visited the Tegallalang Rice Terrace in Bali and it’s every bit as beautiful as the photos suggest. The landscapes are stunning — layered rice fields stretching into the distance with lush greenery and palms swaying overhead. It’s a place where you can truly take in Bali’s natural beauty. This spot is great if you enjoy light hiking. There are paths and trails that let you wander through different levels of the terraces, giving you both peaceful walking moments and opportunities to admire the scenery from different perspectives. Just be prepared for a little climbing — some portions can be steep or uneven, but the views make it worth it. It’s also a fantastic photo location. Whether you’re capturing wide scenic shots or taking iconic Bali-style pictures among the terraces, it’s easy to find beautiful backdrops everywhere you turn. Overall, Tegallalang Rice Terrace is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature, views, and a little adventure. Scenic, peaceful, and perfect for photos and exploration — definitely worth the stop.
Latisha D — Google review
An absolutely stunning spot and definitely worth a visit! 🌾 The views over the rice terraces are breathtaking, and you can really feel the beauty and calm of Bali here. There are those famous swing experiences where you can rent a beautiful flowing dress and pay for a professional photo or video — they’re amazing if you want that classic Bali swing moment! 🎥💃 But there are also lovely free spots around the terraces where you can take great photos without spending extra. Just explore a little and you’ll find beautiful angles with fewer crowds. Highly recommend going early in the morning for the best light and a peaceful atmosphere. ✨
Shahida A — Google review
These terraces are located closest to Ubud and are by far the most popular with tourists. Admission is free, but you can pay a voluntary fee. They are beautifully maintained, with many spots and viewpoints for beautiful photos. It's worth sitting down at a nearby restaurant (there are many to choose from) for a drink or a meal and admiring the rice terraces from a different perspective. A phenomenal place. I won't say more. It's a must-see.
Łukasz M — Google review
Absolutely stunning place! 🌾 The Tegallalang Rice Terraces are one of the most beautiful spots in Bali. You can walk along the narrow paths through the rice fields and enjoy the amazing view of the terraced hills. It’s peaceful, refreshing, and a great way to connect with nature. Perfect for travelers, families with kids, or even teens who want to learn about local farming and Balinese culture. Don’t forget to stop by one of the small cafés around for a coconut or coffee while enjoying the scenery. Highly recommend visiting early morning or before sunset for the best experience! 🌅✨
Sela R — Google review
Spectacular place to visit. I HIGHLY recommend going there around sunrise. I was let in at 6:30am and i was the only one there for a good 30 mins. To be left to your own devices in a UNESCO World Heritage Site is out of this world. Stunning scenery every way you look. Great for photographers
Scott W — Google review
The best time to visit is just before sunset, when the atmosphere is calm, traffic is lighter, and the area is pleasantly cool. The entrance fee is very affordable and already includes parking. Along the trail, several small local vendors offer refreshments — a simple yet meaningful way to support the community during your visit. What makes this destination truly special is its commitment to preserving the natural landscape while empowering the local residents. A serene and sustainable experience that reflects the authentic beauty of Bali.
Balidronelady — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking! Tegallalang Rice Terrace is one of the most stunning places in Bali — the layered green fields, fresh air, and peaceful atmosphere make it unforgettable. The views are picture-perfect from every angle, and walking through the terraces feels like stepping into a postcard. A must-visit spot that truly captures the beauty of Bali!

This was a beautiful experience. I was so excited to explore rice fields and this didn't disappoint. The green colors were vibrant and the many layers of the terrace were beautiful. They have the option to do zip line, swing, Aladin carpet ride, and superman. All great options to explore the beauty of the fields.

Goa Gajah

Hindu temple
Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Goa Gajah, also known as Elephant Cave Temple, is a significant archaeological site and a popular tourist spot in Bedulu Village near Ubud. Despite its name, there are no actual elephants here, but visitors can admire the stone figure of Ganesh, a Hindu deity with an elephant's head. The cave dates back to the 9th century and features stone carvings of Hindu gods.
Highlights & Attractions The Cave Entrance: The most famous and photographed part is the massive, menacing face carved into the rock, with its gaping mouth serving as the entrance. It is often described as a spectacular and bizarre sight. The Cave Interior: The cave is relatively small and T-shaped. Inside, visitors find a statue of the Hindu god Ganesha and representations of Shiva (lingam and yoni). It was historically a site for meditation. The Grounds and Surrounding Nature: True beauty and attraction lies outside the cave. The complex includes: Sacred Bathing Pools (Tirta Empul): Featuring seven statues of female figures (Hindu angels/nymphs) that act as waterspouts. Lush Valley and Rice Paddies: A walk down a path leads to a beautiful, serene valley with tropical gardens, lush greenery, and a small waterfall, offering great photo opportunities. Buddhist Section: Ruins of a Buddhist temple and relics are located at the southern end of the complex, showcasing the co-existence of Hindu and Buddhist elements. Historical Significance: Visitors appreciate that the site is an important archaeological landmark, believed to date back to the 9th century and listed as a tentative UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Best Time to Visit: Early in the morning is highly recommended to avoid the crowds, the heat, and to enjoy a more peaceful, serene experience. Time Needed: The cave itself takes only a few minutes to explore, but most recommend setting aside less than an hour to explore the entire complex, including the valley, rice fields, and bathing pools. Dress Code:As it is an active worship site, a sarong and sash are mandatory to cover knees and shoulders for both men and women. These are typically available for rent or included with the entrance fee. What to Bring:Wear comfortable shoes as there are many stone steps and paths, and bring water.
Samir S — Google review
Used to be a UNESCO SITE, this temple is well preserved and should continue to be. Entrance fee includes temporary sarong rent which makes sense for tourists and doesn't feel rip off. There are guides at sites but they are not pushy for business. Used as a sanctuary for both Hinduism and Buddhism, you could see two religions in one. There's also a Buddha temple right at the end but it seems neglected. Overall, worth a visit especially if you are interested in cultural understanding.
John T — Google review
This is temple in bali where Pooja is still carried out in a temple. Nice temple of Lord Ganesha and Shiva . It also has an idol of lord Buddha. The place has a nice spring and whole temple seems to be in the midst of a forest. Temple can be better maintained as there are entrance fees for the same .

This was the highlight and a great location to end out day. We arrived approx. 17:30 (closure at 18:00). It was empty and peaceful, which made it all the more special and a great location to see. One to recommend however be warned, there is a fait bit to decend and climb, all worth it though. There is also a smallish waterfall, secluded and covered by massive forest. Entry cost is R50k pp. Must see.
Bal N — Google review
A very spiritual temple in Bali. Worth visiting while in Ubud. We went there during a local ceremony and saw the place decked up in traditional decorations. People were offering puja in ceremonial attire. The compound is huge with its own water fall and garden. The inside of the temple is sacred and the atmosphere feels divine. There are quite a few steps to be climbed up and down. Take your time and explore the surroundings.
Birat B — Google review
It's not big cave. Inside cave there are statues of God. If in hurry one can skip this place. Architecture of entrance is different. However, road to buddha temple from their is beautiful. Nature lover will find it worth visiting.
Kinjal P — Google review
Goa Gajah temple is one of the visiting places in Bali. The temple has entrance fee of 50000 rupai per person and temple closes by 6 pm. There is a big center with shopping stalls around. I strongly recommend to visit Goa Gajah. If you dont have enough time, just see from the top of the temple before the entry.
Malli S — Google review
Cool locking cave. Some nice small temple structures. Wasn't very crowded when we got there but a lot of people want to sell you stuff or be your guide. You feel the place is made for a lot of tourists. The waterfall isn't that impressive and also very dirty.

Washrooms are maintained good. It has open bar at ground level with a cafe too and they serve breakfast lunch and dinner also. The ambience is quite lavish and beautiful. First level serves indian food at buffet for all tourists who visit. It has parking space. Wherever you Stand or sit you will have the view of kintamani mountain which is bliss to your eyes and soul. Food is quite good. Service is amazing. You will be happy to be in such place. You can have your food facing to the mountain and cherish the joy of eating it. You can see the mountain disappear with the fog. Also you can see lake mount batur from their. It's a must visit restaurant as it's a tourist spot for many travellers. There are local shops to buy some souvenirs.

Amazing views, the venue is worth it just for this. The food they serve can be hit and miss. Guess it depends on your taste. Loved the soup and some of local mains. The black rice pudding and fried bananas were not as well received though. Get dessert elsewhere in my opinion. Unless you're happy with some fruit. The buffet was a bit pricey compared to the rest of Bali cuisine but at less than USD $15 (200k IDR), still very affordable.

Buffet style lunch as well as serving is available. Wide range of food to select from. View is breathtaking. Ample parking space. Rates are not too high. Food quality is also good. Vegetarian as well as non vegetarian food is available.

A Lovely place to dine in. The food is ok but the ambience is worth visiting. You can sit in the open air and have your food. Taking selfies 8s what people prefer after food. It has Volcano view♥️♥️♥️ Please carry umbrella during your visit in any month as it rains very often.

Devil's Tears, located on the stunning Nusa Lembongan island, is a breathtaking coastal spot that draws visitors from all over Bali. This picturesque overlook offers dramatic views of waves crashing against rocky cliffs, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle. The site is known for its unique cave pool and rugged beauty, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers.
Absolutely breathtaking! Watching the sunset at Devil’s Tear was one of the most beautiful experiences. The crashing waves against the cliffs create a dramatic backdrop, while the sky bursts into vibrant shades of orange, pink, and purple. The spray from the ocean catches the light perfectly—it’s pure magic. If you’re in Nusa Lembongan, this is a must-see spot for nature lovers and photographers.

Devil’s Tear is one of the most breathtaking spots on Nusa Lembongan! The power of the waves crashing against the cliffs is incredible to watch, and when the tide is strong you can feel the spray of the ocean. It’s a great place for dramatic photos, especially around sunset when the light makes the ocean glow. Be careful near the edge though — the rocks are sharp and the waves can be unpredictable. There are also small stalls nearby for drinks and snacks, which makes it a nice spot to relax while enjoying the view. Definitely a must-visit when you’re on the island!
Jody K — Google review
One of my highlights on the island. Stunning views especially for sunset. You can also use your ticket for the next day for a second entry so went once of the sunset and then during the day. Spectacular both times - the waves are huge and crushing against the shoreline makes for a spectacle. Be careful if you don’t want to get wet - some waves catch you unaware and before you know it your drenched if you’re close to the fence. There’s a little mini bar selling drinks for sunset or bring your own.
Eva N — Google review
Best place in lembongan!! Definitely need to visit it. There's ticket for entry, the amount is totally worth it. The view is breathtaking! We went on weekend during sunset time, there was very less crowd. It has a proper park so you'll find joggers on the track here. The park is pretty huge, there are a lot of spots around. There's nice sitting place as well, so can sit and see the waves hitting the rocks.

My visit to Bali would not have been complete without exploring this incredible location. Honestly, it is one of the most naturally beautiful places I have ever experienced, and I had been looking forward to visiting it for a long time. Describing its beauty is quite challenging. The roar of the water, the sound of the waves, and the colors of the sea are mesmerizing—sometimes the water appears pure white, while at other times it’s a deep blue. It's truly hard to believe until you see it for yourself.
Sma S — Google review
Devil’s Tear on Nusa Lembongan is wild, powerful, and absolutely worth seeing. The waves smash into the cliffs and explode into huge sheets of spray, and when the light hits right you get that shimmering “tear” effect that feels otherworldly. It is one of those spots where you can feel the raw force of nature in your chest. But just so you are ready for it: this place is 100 percent a tourist funnel. Crowds gather at the edge for selfies, there are stalls selling snacks and overpriced drinks, and the whole experience leans into the “Instagram moment.” It is still stunning, just keep your distance from the edge, hold onto your hat, and expect the chaos that comes with a popular attraction. The view is unforgettable, the energy of the waves is intense, and if you treat it as a quick stop rather than a peaceful retreat, you will absolutely enjoy it.
Daniel P — Google review
Very special place, definitely worth visiting. It's a one visit sort of thing. Just know, that during the day the waves were big and impressive, at the sunset the waves are much more laid back when we were, and the effects much less exciting. But it's a beautiful place to just see the sunset also. You don't need to buy tickets in advance, they sell it there for 25k for adult and 15k for kids
Asaf D — Google review
Nature’s Drama at Its Finest – Devil’s Tear Is Absolutely Breathtaking Devil’s Tear is one of those places that leaves you in awe from the moment you arrive. Located on the rugged southwestern edge of Nusa Lembongan, this natural wonder offers a front-row seat to the raw, untamed beauty of the ocean. The name might sound ominous, but what you witness here is nothing short of mesmerizing. As waves crash against the jagged limestone cliffs, they explode into towering sprays of white mist, sometimes rising several meters into the air. It’s loud, wild, and hypnotic—like the ocean breathing with power and rhythm. The sunlight catches the mist just right, creating rainbows in the spray that feel almost magical. You could stand there for hours, simply watching nature put on a show. The surrounding landscape adds to the experience: dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and a horizon that seems to stretch into forever. If you visit during golden hour, the sunsets at Devil’s Tear are absolutely unforgettable. The fiery sky reflected in the crashing waves creates a visual spectacle that feels surreal—like something out of a painting. While it’s a popular spot, it never feels overly crowded, and the vast open space lets you find your own peaceful perch. Just be cautious—this is not a place to get too close to the edge, as the waves are unpredictable and fierce. Respecting the power of the sea here is part of what makes the experience so humbling and profound. Devil’s Tear is more than just a tourist stop—it's a place where you connect with nature on a visceral level. It's beautiful, dramatic, and a reminder of just how powerful and poetic the Earth can be. An absolute must-see when visiting Nusa Lembongan.

Walk around the lake. This is real Bali with rare foreigners. Enjoy your trip with wonderful views of Mt Batur and the lake.
Luiz S — Google review
Many years ago,I came here in kintamani and it was a dirt track and a few hawkers. Now it has a massive viewing platform along with aggressive hawkers. Now don't get me wrong, the views are fabulous and many lovely restaurants around too....BUT..if ur a foreigner and have a car or guide, before u getting the top to view the mountain u will be charged 50,000rp or $5 per person just to drive to the top 1 min away. I have no objection to pay as long as at the other end there is someone to maybe give a brief history of the area or mnt. All monies go back to the government but nothing for the locals who are struggling!( that's what I was told by the guide). So,as explained to the guide what I would spent with the hawkers, was spent at the ridiculous "entrance" fee. Do yourself a favour...buy a postcard instead! Worst experience on Bali! Let me explain why! And let me show alternatives. 1. Mass invasion of tourists. And with invasion I mean a never ending snake of people from bottom to top and back. No joke! On the top of mt. batur were at least 300 people. I Never expected sooooo much people. While watching sunrise other people walking around all the time, stand up in front of you for selfies etc. 2. Booking a guide, means booking someone showing you the way! Not more! Our guide told us nothing about history and geology of Mt. Batur. I knew more then him after reading Wikipedia article. But the guide never stopped asking us, if we like to have a longer tour (for more money of course). 3. Mafialike trekking agencies try to force you book a guide. (Mine was Arlinas) 4. Breakfast: = a joke, toast with egg and banana. 5. Equipment: another joke! Just a simple torch with not enough power. After 30min walk light was gone! Nothing else of equipment. 6. The price is horraible expensive for the provided service (300k per person) I was in a Group of 4 people after negotiation. 6. Last but not least the view. The view is beautiful that's true. But millions of views are beautiful while sunrise. Ok, if you still think I want to hike Mt. Batur... please don't or go without guide. The way up is no problem if you have the right shoes, torch and googlemaps. Just start from black lava hostel and follow the way to the Pura penataran agung temple, turn right and head to the Pura Payogaan temple (check Google maps). Follow the trail (5-10min) until you reach a shack where they sell water, etc. From here just follow the masses. If you want to see the sunset alone and without spending so much money, avoid Mt. Batur, rent a scooter and watch it from the south-west caldera of the volcano. This means nearly same angle to the sunrise and you got Mt. Batur, Mt. Abang, and Mt. Agung on your photos. Which is more impressive! Just give it a try. If you don't like it you can go next day to Mt Batur.

Spent 2 hours walking around Danau Batur. Really love that the lake comes with views of 3 magnificent mountains and the lake is surrounded by local villages instead of tourism. Beautiful blue sky accompanied with it. Tourists are non existent in this village. Love to be around locals and no other foreigners. We also love the fact that this place offers serenity and peace, in touch with nature. Lots of farm lands, locals and sound of crickets.

Kelingking Beach, often referred to as T-Rex Bay due to its unique rock formation resembling a dinosaur, is one of the most stunning beaches on Nusa Penida Island in Bali. Nestled along the island's southwestern cliffs, this picturesque spot boasts powdery white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters that beckon adventurers from all over. The journey down the rugged path to the beach offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, creating unforgettable memories for those who make the trek.
The most iconic view point but the way climbing up and down is the highlight so if you not strong enough please do not try to go for the beach since the route is very dangerous and very incline.

“Kelingking Beach (Nusa Penida): A Dinosaur-Spined Cliff That Defies Expectations This isn’t just a beach—it’s a visual knockout hidden on Nusa Penida. The 15-minute steep trail down to the viewpoint (wear grippy sneakers!) feels like a tiny adventure, and the payoff? Standing there as the dinosaur-spine-shaped cliff juts into layers of turquoise-and-cobalt sea—my jaw actually dropped. The light here is magic: morning sun gilds the cliff’s green foliage, making the water glow so bright it looks airbrushed. Even if you skip the tricky descent to the tiny beach below (the trail gets narrow!), the main viewpoint has endless angles for photos (pro tip: step a few feet left of the crowd for a less-crowded shot of the full dinosaur silhouette). Yes, getting here means a bumpy drive from Penida’s port, but it’s worth every pothole. Pack water (the trail’s exposed!) and arrive by 9 AM to beat the midday heat (and the tour bus crowds). Kelingking isn’t just a “Instagram spot”—it’s the kind of landscape that makes you stop and stare, reminding you how wild Bali’s neighboring islands can be. 10/10, would hike that trail again just for the sunset glow on the cliff. 🦖🌊 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

An amazing view for sure but the stairs are not for everyone. On a hot day it’s very challenging to go up and down to get to the beach or even going halfway for photos. Be wary lots of people will just hang on the stairs for pictures and block your way of using the railing. Def wear shoes if you want to get safely down to this beach

will always be my most favorite beach in bali! even though it needs a fastboat for me to get here from the main island. so disappointed at the sight of the elevator being built though. i think the stakeholders need to focus more on fixing the accessibility that has existed which is the stairs.

Touristy as hell… the car ride here is really a car ride from hell seriously if you are going to rent a scooter and planning to rent a scooter here please don’t. The hills are really steep and the potholes are really deep and the roads are not well maintained at all. Please treasure your own life and don’t rent a scooter on Nusa Penida but ok this place i mean touristy as hell, especially after they put the damn lift there i mean what for… they are just trying to cash grab the tourists yeah i mean don’t even come to nusa penida unless you are doing diving or something like that, if you are just coming for the views,,,, skip it please, the ferry ride to and fro are really killer, shoulder to shoulder with no fan and skin to skin with your seat buddy on your left and right.,.. yeah not fun ya

Amazing place! I wouldn’t lie if I tell you this is the best beach in the world! I have seen many countries (beaches in Australia) but this is another level. Great view from the top and crazy waves on the beach. I had a lot of fun. I suggest to visit the place around 7 am - only 4 people were together with me so you can take a photo easily. Trekking to the beach is difficult but took me only 15-20 minutes. Entry to parking slot costs 5k (motorbike).

We rode our bicycles early in the morning to the end of the Mangrove Forest. We meet a local man who asked us if we would like a mangrove tour. We were the only people there, so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to see it without a crowd. We rode in a small flat bottom canoe while our 'tour guide' guided us around the winding waterways like we were in a Venice gondola. The water was so clear and it was so peaceful. We then met a local woman sitting the latest seaweed haul and learnt a bit about three local trade. Week with the visit, not need to book a tour, just go straight to the end of the Mangrove Forest and strike up a deal.

A fantastic private trip. Second boat into Manta Bay with a with an experienced guide and boat captain. Both made the most to try and find (respectfully) the Manta Rays. Swam with 4 and found a turtle too! Enjoyed the drift snorkel. Collection and drop off was simple and efficient. Would highly recommend over a crowded group trip. Thank you.

Beautiful & peaceful. Our tour only lasted 20 minutes and imo it would be best to do it by canoe instead of using a motorized boat. Do the tour at low tide for a better understanding of the mangrove. We did it at high tide while everything is covered by water, with a guide that didn't say a word about it. Get a good guide and ask abt the best time to do the tour. You can also do it by stand up paddle board.

It is worth to visit Mangrove forest in Nusa Lembongan. Beautiful, quiet. You can choose between canoeing, canoeing + guide, boat trip, or gondola trip. We choose gondola trip for 200K. Canoeing without guide is 150K per canoe. It is beautiful and there are many warungs or restaurant around there that you could enjoy the view while having a drink.

This place was extremely beautiful and peaceful! The trees form a lovely canopy enclosing the mangroves and giving protection from the sun... Upon arrival you are giving the option to stand up paddle board, kayak, snorkel or have a guided tour threw the mangroves... There are many beach bars and restaurants. Expect to spend no more than 1-3 hours including lunch. A must see attraction of Nusa Lembongan.

(Translated by Google) I think this is the best beach in Bali. There are not many people, it is very clean, there is no garbage in the water or on the shore. There are inexpensive cafes where the food is very tasty. To the left and right of the beach are rocks made of hardened lava. The place for photos is gorgeous. There are waves, sometimes even very strong, but for me personally, this is more a plus than a minus. Entrance to the beach is 10 thousand rupees per person. We came by moped from Bukit, the journey took about 1.5 hours.

Tirta Gangga is a serene spiritual retreat featuring stunning gardens and natural springs, offering opportunities for swimming and picnicking. The area surrounding Tirta Gangga is rich in tourist attractions, including the majestic Mount Agung, the Telaga Waja river for water rafting, the charming beach town of Candidasa, and the ancient village of Tenganan. Sidemen Valley is a hidden gem with beautiful rice fields, colorful markets, and a strong sense of community.
A peaceful and beautiful place, perfect for a relaxing visit. The gardens and water features are stunning, with spectacular views all around. There are some tourists, but it’s not overcrowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. While it’s possible to see everything in about 30 minutes, I highly recommend staying longer to truly enjoy the calm atmosphere and take in the peaceful surroundings. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful place located just off the road. Peaceful, colorful, and incredibly charming. A very vast area with many nooks and crannies that many people overlook. It's worth buying fish food at the local stalls. It's quite crowded, but the place is worth visiting for its unique charm. Paid parking is available on-site, with plenty of spaces. Restaurants serving good food and quick service are located both on-site and nearby, and prices are practically the same as everywhere else.

Tirta Gangga, the famous “Water Palace” in East Bali, feels like stepping into a dream woven from water, stone, and sunlight. Built by the royal family of Karangasem, this place is surrounded by lush gardens, clear ponds, and sacred springs that shimmer under the Balinese sky. 🌿 The stone paths float gently over the water, and as you step from one lotus-shaped stone to another, koi fish swirl gracefully beneath your feet. Every ripple feels alive — like time moves slower here. The sound of trickling fountains and the scent of blooming flowers make it a perfect escape from the world outside. There’s a quiet peace in this place — a balance between human art and nature’s beauty. You can sit by the pond, dip your fingers into the cool water, and feel a sense of calm that words can barely describe. It’s not just a sightseeing spot; it’s a place where your soul takes a deep breath. 🌸

We visited with the 1 Day Insta Tour Package on Trip Advisor and I personally recommend you book with them to get the best informed tour. This garden was once the King's private garden. It's now opened to the public for access and viewing. Although it still has practicioners coming here to meditate, it's still mostly opened to the public. The Koi fish in these ponds are majestic as you'll see in the accompanying videos and photos. The statue as well are just too fantastic 😍 for a first timer to Bali, visiting this Garden first will set the tone for your holidays ❤️💪👍

This was an absolutely beautiful and historic location that feels like stepping into a living postcard. The grounds are impeccably kept, with vibrant plants and flowers adding to the serene atmosphere. There are endless opportunities for stunning photos, including the famous Instagram-worthy stepping stone area, which surprisingly did not have too long of a line even during the busy season. The small museum on-site was both informative and interesting, giving context to the rich history of the site. Visitors were respectful and courteous, which made the experience even more enjoyable. This is a must-see stop for anyone looking to enjoy Balinese culture, history, and breathtaking scenery all in one visit.

We visited Tirta Gangga as part of our East Bali Tour programme. This is a very well maintained and clean place, which was used as a former water palace. We learned it was named after the sacred river Ganges in India. You can hop on and walk on stones to cross the ponds. There are so many well-fed and big koi fishes in ponds that look lovely. We had also visited Ubud Water Palace before, Tirta Gangga is bigger than that so it was worth visiting. There is also a cafe & restaurant you can sit and relax.

I visited Tirta Gangga and it was truly a sight to behold. This former royal water palace is incredibly scenic — a gorgeous blend of tranquil pools, flowing fountains, lush gardens, and traditional stone statues. Everywhere you turn feels like stepping into a postcard. The grounds are beautifully laid out, with stepping stones that take you across the water and let you wander right through the ponds surrounded by koi fish. It’s peaceful and elegant, with a charming, almost dream-like atmosphere that makes you want to take your time exploring every corner. Tirta Gangga is also full of photo opportunities. From the famous stepping stones to the ornate structures and beautifully landscaped gardens, there’s no shortage of stunning backdrops. Whether you’re looking for serene scenery or iconic Bali shots, you’ll definitely find them here. Overall, Tirta Gangga is a must-visit if you enjoy history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. It offers a perfect mix of calm, beauty, and just enough adventure as you hop stone-to-stone through the water. A truly picturesque stop and one of Bali’s most charming sites.

A beautiful and historic water palace with a peaceful atmosphere. It was a good experience overall, though quite crowded when we visited. We didn’t manage to get any great shots ourselves, but many people do, it’s definitely a very photogenic spot. Tip: go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and get the best photos. Worth a visit if you’re in the area!

The Liberty Wreck Dive in Tulamben is a popular spot for both beginner and experienced divers. This World War II shipwreck offers excellent visibility, gentle currents, and warm waters, making it an ideal dive site. The wreck has transformed into an artificial reef since it sank in 1942, providing a diverse marine habitat to explore. Divers can choose between air or nitrox dives and even opt for introductory dives if they're not certified.
I had 11 dives with Komang for four days. I felt like I'm hanging out and diving with a friend instead. He's friendly and he knows so much about the marine life. He found me so many macro creatures and even gave me advice on macrophotography! I would definitely come back to Tulamben and dive with Komang again. See you soon!

Huge praise to the amazing diving team at Liberty Wreck Dive! The whole crew was professional, friendly, and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout. The environment was perfect—calm, well-organized, and truly the best diving experience we’ve had in Tulamben, Bali. Unforgettable memories!

Komang led me on a fantastic dive on the Liberty Wreck in Tulamben. He was very professional and organised and made sure that I was always safe on my dive. The wreck was covered in beautiful corals and the sea life was prolific. We saw such a variety of small fish, as well as a white tip shark and giant turtle. Komang used his GoPro and took many beautiful short videos, which is a nice bonus as now I can look back on the dive and identity all the things I might have forgotten. I will definitely dive with this company again and highly recommend Komang.

I had a wonderful experience with Liberty Wreck Dive! The team was incredibly professional, friendly, and always went the extra mile to make sure every diver felt safe and well taken care of. Their attention to detail and dedication to safety really stood out, and it gave me full confidence to just relax and enjoy the dives. Highly recommended dive centre for anyone coming to Bali! 🌊🤿

We dove with Komang in Nusa Penida, Padangbai, even though his dive centre is actually in Tulamben. For our group of 7, he arranged 2 local dive masters from Padangbai, so we had 3 guides in total. Komang also joined us on day 2 and 3 to look after us, especially since the waters at Padangbai were quite rough. All of them were super attentive and skilled, which made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the dives — and we all came back safely. They were also very helpful with setting up our diving gear, and the boat was in great condition — clean and looking quite new.

Komang was outstanding. It was very easy to setup our dive from Ubud, he passed along a contact for transport to/from Ubud. We did two dives. One all the way around the ship, one spending more time along the middle of the ship. I highly recommend diving here, easy, fast, safe, and friendly.

Taman Ujung, also known as Soekasada Ujung Park, is a former water palace and gardens located in the village of Tumbu in Karangasem District, Bali. Built in 1909 and restored in 1963 after the eruption of Mount Agung, this scenic royal site features large pools, lush gardens, and historical photos. It is often referred to as the 'floating palace' due to its breathtaking beauty.
Beautiful gardens spread out across a spacious property. Not crowded like other popular destinations in Bali. Still some great photo spots. Colourful gardens. Serene water features. A view of the ocean. Very peaceful.
Calvin S — Google review
Taman Ujung Sukasada, often simply called Taman Ujung, is a captivating historical site and former royal water palace of the Karangasem Kingdom in East Bali. Unlike the pure Balinese style of many temples, this complex stands out with its unique and elegant blend of Balinese and European architecture, set across expansive lawns and large, serene pools connected by ornate bridges and pathways. It's a vast, peaceful location that functions more like a beautifully manicured historical park than an active place of worship. The key draw here is the phenomenal natural scenery, offering panoramic views of the entire complex, the shimmering ocean, and the majestic Mount Agung as a dramatic backdrop on a clear day, making it an absolute delight for photographers and a popular spot for pre-wedding shoots. While the entrance fee is sometimes noted as being slightly high for what is essentially a scenic walk, the tranquility and sheer scale of the palace grounds make it worth the trip, especially if you are seeking a quiet escape from the more crowded tourist hubs. For the best experience and photos, climb the impressive staircase leading to the upper viewpoint (Bale Kapal), which provides the most encompassing vista of the pools and the surrounding landscape. The best time to visit is during the golden hour in the late afternoon, as the setting sun bathes the entire site in warm, magical light, highlighting the intricate architecture and enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.
Fergi R — Google review
The highlight of my trip to Bali. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. The view is magnificent with a mixed view of garden, historic building, mountain and ocean. It is vast and very open feeling. Totally enjoyed every minute in it. Enjoying a fresh coconut under the tree makes you feel the true relaxation and happiness.
Zhu J — Google review
A hidden royal garden of peace and reflection in East Bali. Taman Ujung Water Palace is one of the most serene, elegant, and awe-inspiring places I’ve visited in Bali. Nestled in the quiet eastern region of Karangasem, it was built by the last King of Karangasem as a place for meditation and royal ceremonies — and you can still feel that sacred calm in every ripple of the ponds. 🌿 The palace complex stretches across wide grounds with bridges, archways, and perfectly aligned reflection pools. Every corner feels like a painting — water shimmering against white pavilions, mountain peaks in the background, and the ocean visible on the horizon. The blend of Balinese and European architecture gives it a timeless grace. Walking across the stone bridges feels like stepping into history. The reflections of the arches in the water create stunning symmetry, and you’ll find locals quietly sitting under trees or couples taking wedding photos surrounded by lotus blooms. It’s spacious, peaceful, and surprisingly uncrowded compared to other attractions. The best times to visit are early morning or late afternoon, when the light is soft and golden. Sunrise brings a gentle mist over the ponds, while sunset paints the palace in warm tones that make every photo glow. Bring water, a hat, and comfortable shoes — the grounds are large, and the stairs to the top viewpoint are steep but worth every step. From above, you get a panoramic view of the palace layout, the coastline, and even Mount Agung on a clear day. There’s a small café near the entrance where you can enjoy coconut water or Balinese coffee while watching the reflections on the lake. Entry tickets are affordable, and sarongs are provided if you’d like to explore respectfully near the shrines. What makes Taman Ujung truly special is its energy — a rare stillness that feels grounding and royal at the same time. It’s the kind of place where you can pause, breathe deeply, and feel connected to both nature and history. For travelers seeking something more peaceful than the usual tourist trail, this water palace is pure magic.

Beautiful place worth a visit. Vast gardens and intriguing history. Get a guide to complete the experience. It's amazing how old this place and still in commendable condition being so close to the sea.
Touge R — Google review
Beautiful water palace, with very few other visitors. Entrance was 100k each. Not a religious site, so no dress code. There are a couple of small cafes insides serving cold drinks - much appreciated. I had read online there is a 500k drone fee, but I asked a security guy once inside and he said "go ahead, no charge"

This is definitely a MUST visit place in East Bali. The place is incredibly beautiful and there is peace and quiet, where you can just walk or have a picnic. Also a beautiful place for a wedding, if it can be rented for that event. A place with a good view of the mountains and the ocean, a place where you can take beautiful photos of yourself or your partner.

Gili Nanggu is a secluded island getaway located in the southwest of Lombok, Indonesia. Accessible only by boat or ferry, this rustic destination offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The island is part of a group that includes Gili Tangkong, Gili Kedis, and Gili Sudak.
Gili Nanggu is a serene island with crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant marine life. Perfect for snorkeling, relaxing, and escaping the crowds. A hidden paradise in Lombok that offers peace and natural beauty.
Kevin K — Google review
Gili Nanggu is one of the most fantastic islands I ever been. Unfortunately, you find allot of garbage on the beach (even you have to pay 5.000 IDR per person to a dubious person who was saying that he cleans the island everyday)... This is a typical problem in Indonesia. If this wouldn't be the case I would give this island 5 from 5 stars. The beach where the most people stay is during the daytime a little crowded but clean and still a great experiance. The snorkeling was one of my best snorkel experiance. You can see hundreds of colourful fishes of all kind. The corals are also still very beautiful and colourful. The also try to farm them on the ground. It was a great day on Gili Nanggu... even a little rusty metal stick was penetrated my big toe when we walked on the backside of the island...

Beach full of trash of all sort, you enter the water swimming among floating plastic. Some beautiful corals but visibility not so good probably because of tide and storm
ARNAUD D — Google review
The island is small and not very clean. However, the main reason for visiting is for snorkeling. You can snorkel from two sides of the island. Some of the coral is dead unfortunately but there are plenty of fish. The sea is gentle and there aren't any waves to buffet you around. It takes about 15 minutes by boat to reach the island from the mainland.
Nicholas S — Google review
Amazing snorkeling with nice beaches. So many different types of tropical fish that will swim right with you. A beautiful coral reef restoration project going on there that is really helping maintain/bring back wildlife there.

the best of the small gilis. plenty of places to lay out or Grab some shade. pretty good snorkeling about 15 meters out to the right of the main beach area. can’t miss it; there r underground sesak temple Replicas working as structure. work your way left and a drop off is there which hosted a school of literally thousands of fish when I was there. there’s a lodge there too and camping available.

Gili Trawangan, a small island in Indonesia, is known for its WWII Japanese tunnel, hotels, and an Irish pub. The island offers various activities such as diving and lounging on the beach with cool drinks under the hot sun. It has warm, shallow waters teeming with tropical marine life. Gili Trawangan also provides opportunities for exceptional diving, snorkeling, and surfing during the day and lively music, bars, and socializing at night.
beautiful island ❤️ I was there for one day tour. I tried snorkeling for the first time in my life. I was super happy that I made it. there's no words that can describe how beautiful the sea is. I love to see all the animals under the calm water. I will definitely be back soon🏝️

Gili T is truly a dream! The water is a beautiful turquoise and you can snorkel right from the beach. The coral is unique and I saw countless beautiful fish and turtles. The sunsets are also gorgeous! I rented a bike and it was great! The island vibe is unbeatable – no stress, just sunsets, palm trees, and happy people.

Would highly recommend if you’re looking for an island with some nightlife! Lots of live music on the main road and great atmosphere all around. The only issue I have with the island is the unethical treatment of the horses here. I would not advise you use them as transport unless you absolutely must, lots of them are severely overworked and dehydrated.
Emma K — Google review
My experience on Gili Trawangan, spanning four days, proved to be highly informative. The island's offerings, including bicycle exploration, local cuisine sampling, and snorkeling excursions, were exceptional. The scenic beauty of the locations was particularly striking.

There’s no frills in this review — just the real deal from my trip to paradise! Let’s dive right in 👇 Pearl of Trawangan This one’s a dream — from its gorgeous aesthetic to its perfect location. I didn’t get to stay here (it was sold out), but I wish I had. It’s far enough from the noisy main strip to feel relaxed, yet just a 10-minute walk if you want to join the action. Beach is right across the road. Pro tip: Don’t go to Gili T without swimming shoes — your feet will thank you. East Side of the Island (in front of Laguna Gili Beach Resort) Hands down the best spot for swimming and turtle spotting 🐢 The sand is soft and comfortable to walk on — no swimming shoes needed here. Rent a bike for 24 hours (around Rp50,000) and explore the island at your own pace. The full loop is about 8 km — take your time, stop for a drink, chat with locals, swim with turtles, and just enjoy the island vibes🏝️
Rukshana H — Google review
A beautiful island with great diving opportunities, but unfortunately it's all very commercialized. Unfortunately, there are a lot of electric scooters driving around here now, and some of them are going very fast. You really have to be afraid of getting run over because you can't hear them.
Torsten — Google review
Beautiful Island with Breathtaking Waters – But Know What to Expect Gili Trawangan is undeniably beautiful — crystal-clear waters, white sand, and stunning sunsets. It’s a fun island with a great energy, but it’s very geared toward tourism, which takes away a bit of its original charm. There’s a big backpacker and party crowd, mostly younger travelers, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying it as a family. It’s still very family-friendly if you stay in the quieter areas away from the port. We highly recommend booking a private boat for a smoother and more comfortable arrival. Once there, rent bikes and cycle around the island — it’s a lovely way to explore. Also, make sure to visit the nearby Gili islands for a day trip — they’re perfect for beach clubs, snorkeling, and a more laid-back vibe. Gili T is what you make of it — full of life, beauty, and adventure if you plan it right!
Kaori C — Google review
Beautiful island with scenic beaches and hotels. I loved it there. The only thing that really bothered me was the way poor working horses are treated - pulling wagons all day in the heat, with no water and food. Left standing at the sun. It's heartbreaking and animal cruelty. Local government must ban it and take care of the poor horses! It's 2025, there is no excuse to use horses!

The Gili Islands are 3 very small islands off the coast of Lombok , the next island east of Bali. You can reach the Gilis by boat from Bali or fly to Lombok and take a taxi over the mountains to a coastal village that has outriggers to ferry you out to the Gilis. Actually, the taxi stops just before you enter the village and you pay a small fee for a horse-drawn cart to take you to the boat ramp. It's just a way for the villagers to make a little money and it's a pleasant ride. At the boat ramp, you board a boat going to your island of choice. There are three island: Gili Air, Gili Meno, and Gili Trawangan. We took the boat to Gili Air. It is the closest to Lombok and only took about 30 minutes. It is also the smallest of the 3. It's village is in the center of the island with many coconut trees and people going about their daily activities. After walking through the village, we came to some bungalows that looked nice, right on a white sand beach with some beautiful coral close to shore. This resort had a few bungalows and an open-air center dining room (all meals included). We snorkeled and relaxed on the beach. At night in the dining room, one of the workers entertained us with a guitar, singing Indonesian folk songs. The next day we took a boat to Gili Trawangan, skipping the middle island of Meno. Trawangan is the biggest of the 3 island and has a hill with a WW2 bunker. It's nice to hike up there for a great view of the other islands and the Lombok coastline. Upon landing, we settled on the easternmost bungalow resort as it was the least busiest area. The beach is beautiful with white sand and shallow crystal-clear water. Many tropical fish can be seen very close to shore, so make sure you've brought your snorkel gear. There are some more luxurious resorts with swimming pools, but I figure, who needs a pool with the beach and clear warm water right there. Besides, the bungalows are more private and cheaper. Again, your 3 meals are included in the open-air dining room, but one day I hired a boat to sail us around the islands and trolled for fish. Fir the first time in my life, I saw flying fish. It was amazing. Soon, I snagged a big fish, a bonito. I took it back to my resort and took over the kitchen. I cut the fish into chunks, skewered them, spiced them with whatever I could find in the kitchen, and BBQed them. There was enough for every guest to have two big sticks. Afterwards, many of the guests told me it was the best meal they had there. Anyway, I recommend the Gilis for a bit of off-the-beaten-path adventure, beauty, and relaxation. We hope to get back there someday.

" Not suited for all travellers" The whole island is very dark with uneven and unsafe paths, you wil definitely need a torch if coming to this island as it is very challenging to get around at night. I personally found it extremely challenging and I am not old or have any mobility issues. I recommend staying on the main roads either in town or facing the beach and not in the centre of the island, as most likely you will not be able to find your accommodation at night. The amount of tourism the island receives I am unsure why they do not put a focus on safety and fix the paths and install lighting around the island. If you are elderly or have mobility issues I would recommend skipping this island and possible consider Gili Trawangan instead where as it’s a little more developed.

Gili Air is my favorite place after Italy. The tranquility of the island, the purity of the people, unique sea animals, pristine beach and its not-so-crazy night life is beyond words. If you to Bali, plan a few days there. You won't regret. Gili T, on the contrary, is my least favorite place.

Blue Marlin Dive Gili Meno is a highly recommended dive center with a friendly and professional team focused on safety. Whether you're a beginner or experienced diver, the staff provides great service and makes you feel part of their community. The Instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and ensure that you feel safe underwater. They offer refresher courses for those who haven't dived in a while and provide optimal conditions for beginners to explore and learn.
My partner and I did the “Discover Scuba Diving” course here. The price was great and the customer service is excellent. It was our first ever dive, in which we were quite nervous. We had Anais as our instructor. She was extremely friendly and approachable. She was a very good instructor and put our minds to ease. She explained things calmly, clearly and easy to understand. We felt very confident after our pool training session with her. When we got in the open water, we got used to being underwater very fast. The dive was absolutely amazing. We saw so much marine life including turtles, eels, lion fish, box fish and so much more. Could not recommend Blue Marlin and our instructor Anais enough.

After around 100 dives in different places around the world, my experience with Blue Marlin Dive Gili Meno honestly stands out as one of the best. From the moment I texted them last minute to book, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming and helpful. They keep the groups small, which makes a huge difference, and everything was taken care of so smoothly that all I had to do was show up and enjoy the dives. The dive sites they chose were beautiful, and our dive guide was pointing out lots, always checking in and making sure I had a great experience. It felt easy, relaxed, professional, reliable and fun, exactly how diving should be. If you’re looking for a place that combines great diving with genuinely kind people, this is it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review for my Dive Instructor Clem and the Blue Marlin Dive School on Gili Meno I did my Open Water Dive Course with Clem – and honestly, it was absolutely perfect and far beyond my expectations! At the beginning I wasn’t sure if diving was even for me. I’m from Austria and I love climbing high mountains, but I didn’t know how I would react with 17 meters of water above me. But Clem built everything up step by step, always explained things calmly and clearly, and made sure I felt safe and comfortable at all times. Thanks to his patience, professionalism, and calm guidance, I was able to fully relax and enjoy the whole experience. Now I’ve completely caught the diving bug! I’m already planning to continue with the Advanced Open Water course. What really made the difference was Clem himself. He is an absolutely outstanding dive instructor – extremely skilled, incredibly patient, and truly passionate about teaching. He always took the time to answer my questions, explained every exercise in detail, and during the dives he constantly checked on me to make sure I was okay. I felt safe and supported every single moment. The dives themselves were amazing. We completed all the required exercises, but there was always enough time alongside the training to truly enjoy the diving experience. Clem used this time to show me the beauty of the underwater world – from spotting a boxfish to encountering sharks. He also explained fascinating details about marine life, such as why you shouldn’t get too close to a triggerfish and how it defends its territory. On top of that, the dive spots we visited were wonderfully diverse – from wreck dives to reef dives. Every single dive was a highlight! I also want to highlight the dive school as a whole. The atmosphere at Blue Marlin Dive School is just wonderful – everyone is extremely friendly, helpful, and easygoing. Between dives, the school is a super nice place to relax – you always get something to drink, and the whole team creates a warm and welcoming vibe. Everyone is approachable and always ready to answer questions. On top of that, everything was super easy and uncomplicated. We simply messaged the dive school on WhatsApp the day before, went by to fill out the paperwork, and were ready to start. Booking fun dives was just as simple – you could easily arrange them the day before. This flexibility made the whole experience even more enjoyable. All in all, it was a truly perfect experience – from the professional training, to the relaxed and safe atmosphere, to the unforgettable dives. But above all: thank you so much, Clem – I am really, really grateful for everything you taught me and the way you guided me through this amazing experience! 🌊🤿🐠🐢

I recently completed my PADI Open Water course at Blue Marlin, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The entire team was fantastic, and the booking process went smoothly. They were very flexible in accommodating my schedule, which I really appreciated. My instructor, Anaïs, was absolutely amazing. She taught me the fundamentals of diving with great professionalism. Anaïs was very attentive to my needs, and thanks to her, I was able to complete my very first dive on the first day of the course. I’m incredibly grateful to Anaïs—her calm demeanor and professionalism immediately put me at ease. She opened the door to the wonderful world of diving for me. I will never forget her serenity and passion for the underwater world, and I know that her influence will help me continue to improve with every dive.

We did our very first dive and got Open Water certified with Otavio at Blue Marlin two years ago, and we’re still talking about it!!! Otavio was the perfect instructor: calm, clear, and incredibly reassuring. He made us feel completely safe and confident from the start, which was exactly what we needed as beginners. Since then, we’ve dived in many places, but nothing has come close to the experience we had in Gili Meno. The island, the dive shop vibe, the underwater world…it all felt like paradise. We’re so glad we learned to dive with Otavio and the Blue Marlin crew and we truly can’t recommend Blue Marlin enough.

Mawun Beach is a picturesque half-moon cove located about 8km west of Kuta in southern Lombok. The beach is surrounded by towering headlands and offers azure waters, soft white sand, and a peaceful atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for swimming and water sports, with gentle waves at the ends of the beach and stronger waves in the middle. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of Lombok by trekking up the hills that flank the beach.
We came at 7:40 am, and it was full empty. Less sunlight, good enough for Vitamin D. Beach is surrounded by mountains, so no waves. Good for swimming.

The beach is long, beautiful landscape, few people, there are sun beds and umbrellas, offered for 50k. Entrance (parking) 10k, like everywhere. Lots of plastic on the shore and in the water, the waves were big and the entry into the water is a bit sharp. Children sell bracelets. We did not stay, there are better beaches.
Елена Н — Google review
One of the dirtiest beaches on Lombok. Behind the warungs, everything is littered with trash. The entire beach is covered in small pieces of plastic. Small children sell bracelets instead of going to school. Anyone who thinks that's romantic or beautiful is wrong with them. Open your eyes, people!
Stephan G — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen for sure. Long crescent shaped beach inside a secluded bay. Sunbeds available for 50k, 10k for parking like everywhere. Nice chill spot, local kids are here selling bracelets. Places selling food, beer and other beverages.
Timothy N — Google review
To enter, had to pay 10k IDR (don’t know why), great beach but little dirty. And it’s a great point to see the sunset.
Victor J — Google review
Lots of people here have noticed the kids selling bracelets on this beautiful beach. Buying from them may feel compassionate in the moment, but in reality keeps the cycle going and prob doesn’t help them in the long run. If you’d like to help (please do!!), donate instead to local initiatives that support their education and future, like: – Batu Bambu Kids Foundation – Invest Islands Foundation – Anak Alam School (I have no affiliation with these organizations. Feel free to do your own research) Please take a moment to donate (it’s faster than ordering your nasi goreng or rubbing sunscreen on your partner’s sandy back 😉) and -more importantly- it’s an easy way to give back to this beautiful place we’re lucky to visit 🌺
Irene A — Google review
The authentic Lombok. Beautiful beach with local warungs (food stalls). Very relaxed atmosphere, stunning views. Easy to get to. A must-see.
Mario S — Google review
Beach looks nice, with parts where the water is very wild and also parts where it is more calm and suitable for swimming. Beds are OK, not fantastic, but cheaper (150k for 2) then at Selong Belanak Beach (200k for 2). Most annoying part is that there are a lot of local kids that keep coming selling armbands or begging for money and sometimes refuse to leave.

I went to Patuh Cooperative. People here are very friendly. We can try to learn weaving, take picture with Lombok traditional clothes and Lombok traditional house as background (the guide help taking the picture). The price is also reasonable. You can find various beautiful weaving product here. It's highly recommended place to visit when you're in Lombok.

We can see the eldery weaving and take a pic with traditional tenun, there's also tenun shop but they didnt force u to shop.. enjoyable
Eravany W — Google review
Our driver took us here for a look around. We got dressed up and had some photos taken in the Traditional Village area. The quality of the weaving looks great. However I am not an expert. It just looks like some time and effort went into each sarong and other clothing pieces they make.
Pay F — Google review
A rather interesting village. The guide takes you around to witness the local method of weaving and living. You'll also get to try on their traditional wedding dress, which is rather majestic. The tour ends at their shop where they sell clothing and accessories supposedly made im the village. Like others have brought up, the fabric does look mass-produced and distinct from what you are show on tour. However, you are not really pressured to buy anything and can simply leave a tip if nothing interests you. My one complaint is perhaps that the place does feel a little like an exhibit just for tourists. I had a rather pleasant time here!
Alan T — Google review
Weaving craft tourism village with traditional houses, we can take pictures with traditional clothes on stilt houses which are very instagramable. the staff are also friendly and the weavers are also friendly.
Rizky S — Google review
The price of original weaving textile, ranging from IDR 200k to Million. Worth it to buy since it's handmade weaving textile. It is also another location in Sukarara sells "printed" woven with more cheaper price. It only cost IDR 200k, while the handmade might cost millions
Joko W — Google review
The tour was very interesting- watching the weaving itself and being dressed up traditionally. Whilst going around the village the young children kept shouting money money at us - which we found highly offensive and rude. They dressed us up in traditional clothes which was lovely to experience. Whilst been taken back into the shop we saw a truck pull up full of the products, under a large plastic sheet (could see through bars) The guide proceed to say the shop was full of their products that had all been made on sight - down to the children making the wooden key rings. Which is so fake (must have thought we fell out of a tree) they’ve all been made on large machines and probably imported from overseas. All shops, markets, people sell the same products across Indonesia. We asked to make a donation to which they replied for the respect of the locals we should buy something. All overpriced and not wanting to cause any offence we bought a small gift for 70k. They’d make so much more money if the products were genuinely made on sight. We asked the taxi driver on the way to the harbour and he said yes it’s all fake - local too. A shame
A J — Google review
AVOID!!! Tourist trap big time. All the products they sell are mass produced elsewhere. The whole experience is so aggressive and focused on making youl feel like you are buying handcraft when you are not. Items are overpriced by AT LEAST 400%. My guide was Rudy and he was so manipulative and aggressive. He was also misogynistic, taking any opportunity to berate the women “weaving”. AVOID AVOID AVOID! RED FLAGS ALL OVER!!
Felipe C — Google review
Not so good with hospitality. Just focus on formality. The weaving process is quite unique
Rhesadi A — Google review
The products (or at least a lot) which they offer are, different than claimed, not made in the village, and therefore very expensive. A few days after our visit in the village, the same and similar Sarongs were offered to us at Kuta beach… for 6x cheaper!

Tanjung Aan Beach, located in the southern part of Lombok, is a stunning 2km stretch of white sand and turquoise waters. Legend has it that the beach is home to Princess Mandalika, who transformed into a sea worm to escape unwanted suitors. Accessible via a rugged trail road from Kuta, this beach remains relatively undiscovered by tourists. It features iconic swings along the sandy coastline and is popular among surfers and sunbathers.
Tanjung Aan Beach has stunningly blue water and soft white sand, creating a picture-perfect tropical view. However, during my visit there was quite a bit of seaweed scattered along the shore, which made the sand look a little messy. Still, the scenery and the clear water are absolutely worth seeing

Beautiful bay, easy to get to. Plenty of shady trees along the beach. Good surf for beginner to intermediate surfers (although busy) The usual vendors walking along the beach but they are not overly pushy and very friendly. Good place to relax. The western end of the beach/Bay is like a tip and full of rubbish and plastic. Breaks your heart to see that. The wind and tides seem to push it that way. It was filthy. The middle and East end (where the surf boats leave from) is much nicer and would recommend going there. When you turn into the road to the beach ride past the first entry on your right and keep going straight on the road. This will take to the middle of the beach. It's a nice walk along the beach when the tide is out.

*please bring water for the dogs, there are buckets to fill up at various points in the parking lot* It is one of the most beautiful beaches. The water is really blue and you can walk a long way in 🌴
Janette M — Google review
It could be a beautiful place but unfortunately there is so much plastic everywhere ! It's one side that they cleaned but not the other side. It's really sad 😢 Google show a few places to eat but everything is closed also, just a few vendors for surfing lessons and drinks
Anaïs L — Google review
Tanjung Ann Beach is the perfect spot whether you’re surfing or just relaxing. It’s super close to Kuta, which makes it really convenient to get to. The beach dogs are friendly and the sunsets here are absolutely beautiful. The only downside is the litter in some areas — otherwise it would easily be a 5/5!
Matthew H — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches I have visited. Crystal clear water with a fabulous panoramic background. The bay is simply stunning!! They have just removed all the ‘Warungs’ (beach restaurants) so come prepared if you’re planning to spend several hours here.
Richard C — Google review
Lovely beach, but be careful of this board shop owner called "Yoga". He hit me in the surf. We swam out to talk about the damages, and he proceeded to try and take my watch, punch and kick me, and eventually pulled a coconut machete on me, chasing me down the beach
Jacob S — Google review
The government came and destroyed every Warung. Now there are only one or two surfboard rentals left. It is very calm now and the sea is quiet. You can rent a board and a boat for 100.000 Rupiah and surf a little bit further out. It’s suitable for beginners and intermediate. I really enjoyed it there because you can totally relax in the shadow. Parking fee is 10.000. there is a little bit of trash where the water meets the beach but after a few meters the water is super clear!

Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall

Nestled in the lush jungle of Lombok, Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall are two stunning cascades that require tickets for entry. The 20-meter-high waterfalls flow over moss-covered rocky outcrops, creating a refreshing oasis with swimming holes below. After cooling off with a swim, visitors can make their way to Senggigi, a coastal town about 90 minutes away.
Absolutely epic! We did a proper jungle hike where you get to see 4 different waterfalls, and honestly, it’s one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life. The trekking through the rainforest was already amazing, and being able to refresh ourselves in each waterfall made it even better. We went through the main office and hired a guide for 90k IDR each — 100% worth it. The trail is not something you’d want to wander alone if you’re not local. Our guide even helped us spot some black monkeys, which was a highlight. Without a doubt, this whole circuit is top, top and a must if you’re in the area (even if you’re an hour away).
Tomas A — Google review
This place is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking! If you want to enjoy it more quietly, my tip is to arrive early :) Out of respect for cultural traditions, there are two waterfalls where you cannot wear a bikini, you must wear a sarong or simply be covered while in the water. I would highly recommend taking a guide. While it’s true that two of the waterfalls are easy to find (the ones where bikinis are not welcome), there are two others that are more hidden. It was really nice to have a guide showing us the way, being able to swim and feeling the powerful stream of water on my back :) As for those who complain about the entrance fee and guide cost, unless you are very short on money, I completely disagree. I paid 250 for two people, which included the entrance and the guide, and we stayed for two full hours. You are giving someone work, and like it or not, the place needs maintenance.
Melanie B — Google review
Love this fall. It's the furthest in of the 4 waterfalls here. You can ride in but be very careful as the road are rocky, not maintained. Upon arrival at entrance, if you intend to not engage a guide and ride your bike in, just proceed to official ticket office on the right, path above the parking shed and purchase ticket. No need pay for parking. After that, the booth will assign someone to guide you using his/her bike into the inside parking area near Stokel waterfall. After parking inside, we walked down the steps and wala, the waterfall with 2 wading pools. Had a great time swimming here. Water damn cold.
John T — Google review
I definitely recommend going there and doing all four waterfalls! My guide was Aini and she was AMAZING. I didn't expected hiking through the jungle and swimming in hidden waterfalls but it was the perfect day. She always made sure that I'm save and took amazing pictures and videos for me. So I get why people say its too expensive for the two waterfalls without guide but for just 160.000 you get waterfalls and jungle trek for hours with a personal guide; so totally worth it:)
Lara — Google review
Gorgeous waterfall. Quite cheeky with the 100 plus steps to get down to it. Ensure you are wearing appropriate swim wear, especially poigniant for the females. Take a sarong if needs be too to cover up but still enter the waterfall. The trip there on the bike is fun , about 2km's with a local albeit 35000 id each though there and back. This is not mentioned when you book or even pay at the entrance! Be warned. You can walk but 20mins + in the jungle is cheeky like. Especially uphill.
Ian W — Google review
80k for see 2 waterfalls and 100k all the 4 waterfalls. I think also is option without guide, but then you don’t squeeze the experience as you could. You have a local guide that shows and explains traditional and interesant things about that amazing place. He also carrys with your laggage and makes photos. Even with rain is a good option. You have places during the walk to stop, seat and drink something hot or fresh depending of what option you prefer. Also they have some points where you can eat something. Nice experience
Arnau L — Google review
Incredible experience and an amazing way to support local workers!! I loved that bikinis were banned out of respect to locals. Authentic and well worth the very small entrance and guide fee.

Sendang Gile Waterfall Gate 2

Waterfalls
Sendang Gile Waterfall Gate 2 is a stunning two-tier cascade located at the base of Mount Rinjani in Senaru town, North Lombok.
There are 2 waterfalls here, takes about 15 mins to reach the first one, lots of steps up and down but proper, so still doable for most abled persons. The first waterfall is a smaller one, so going down near it just feels like getting into a light drizzle rain with a really cool breeze. From here we walked further in to the second one, this one requires a higher level of fitness, crossing mud paths, rock paths and ankle-deep river stream. There were a few times I felt the constraints of my short legs, having to stretch to the max to reach the next step. Luckily our young guides took very good care of us, providing extra anchor and support to lead us through. I felt bad for them at times, worrying that with my weight, I would end up pulling them off, causing them to fall over instead. Amazing sight at the bottom of the 2nd waterfall! The water pressure is so huge, just standing near it felt like we were caught in heavy rain. But the mist it created in the air, under the daylight, was dreamy. One may soak in the water (kinda cold though) and even go under the waterfall itself, but exercise caution. While it's not deep, the high pressure may be suffocating (as experienced by one of my friends). Proper footwear is highly recommended for this visit, my walking shoes which worked great for the first part were totally soaked thru by the time we got to the 2nd waterfall. Then we had to go back the way we came to exit the area. Enroute back, at the first waterfall, there's the option to pay for a motorbike ride back up, but the bikes looked small and the path looked tight. I was worried about falling off the bike and down the forest, so I passed on it. The entire journey from start to end took almost 2.5 hrs on foot, can be longer if we had more water fun at the waterfall.
Daphne Y — Google review
Entry costs 20k per person. They'll try to sell you a guide for the waterfalls for 200k. It's a good way to support the locals, but if you want to go alone, that's no problem. We didn't see any monkeys, and the paths are well marked.
Armon — Google review
We really enjoyed our trip here. Hubby and I organised it with a local that we hired in the Gili Islands for a snorkling trip. The walk in is easy but there are steep steps at the end. It is well worth it. Going back we took a motorbike ride out with the locals at a small extra cost. I recommend checking it out.
Aussirose T — Google review
Just like many others, we were told that we can’t enter unless we pay 400k for two persons and get the “obligatory” guide. The guy on the photo was one of the scammers. The other one - their boss smelled of alcohol and was the most aggressive. When we said we don’t have enough money, he escorted us to the atm and didn’t want to let go until we withdraw the money. Such a bad experience and the only one bad we had from the whole trip in Indonesia. Certainly not coming back to Lombok, which apparently doesn’t care much that scammers take over their island.
Mateusz W — Google review
Steep steps but only for 15 minutes. Then you see a fantastic waterfall. You may be able to see little angry chimps there if you get lucky.
S M — Google review
Amazing waterfall There are some local stalls to have some coffee☕️, tea 🍵 and some sweet to enjoy the serene waterfall. Just be aware of the monkeys 🐒, don’t feed them, else more will come 🐒 🐒 🐒 . The cost of the ticket is 20,000 IDR at the entrance. There is mo need to hire a guide as it is an easy trail. 😔There is no area to swim 🏊. You can continue to Tiu Kelep to enjoy a good dip.
IBRAHIM A — Google review
This is a nice entrance and short walk to both waterfalls. Only talked into using a guide when we went in the afternoon but not in the morning (I went here twice as it was so nice). You don’t need a guide! There is another entrance further up the road and it’s a bit busier with a few cafes and bars along the road. Entrance fee is 20000 rupiah.

Mount Rinjani

Mountains
Mount Rinjani, located in Lombok, is a massive active volcano known for its stunning natural beauty. It is often considered one of the most breathtaking volcanoes globally and features a crater lake with crystal-clear blue water at its summit. The area surrounding the mountain is lush and cool due to abundant rainfall and protection by forests and jungle. Hiking expeditions are available for those looking to explore this majestic natural wonder over multiple days.
Without doubt one of the best views in the world, at over three thousand seven hundred meters it’s absolutely breathtaking and that can be taken literally, as the climb to get here is very challenging. Statistically only twenty five percent of people who start make it to the top. So if you plan on coming to see the incredible vistas from the top be prepared for hot days at lower elevations and freezing windy conditions to the summit. Get fit, especially your legs, prepare months in advance by doing steep hikes on loose slippery terrain.
Jason ( — Google review
Mount Rinjani, located on Lombok Island, is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia at 3,726 meters. It's a popular destination for trekking enthusiasts, offering a physically demanding yet rewarding journey. But beyond the adventure, Rinjani is rich in cultural and spiritual meaning. The local Sasak people and Balinese Hindus consider the mountain sacred. Segara Anak, the crater lake within the caldera, is believed to be a spiritual place where rituals and offerings are often held. Along the trail, trekkers pass through tropical forests, savanna grasslands, and dramatic volcanic terrain. Wildlife like ebony leaf monkeys and exotic birds are often spotted, making the hike not just physically engaging but also ecologically rich. The sunrise view from the summit is unforgettable, offering a sweeping panorama of Lombok, Bali, and even Sumbawa on a clear day. Rinjani is not just a mountain—it's a living blend of natural wonder, local tradition, and spiritual depth.
Acidguru — Google review
I did the 3D2N trek to the summit of Rinjani. It was an amazing experience. The hike is hard and some paths are dangerous but if you follow the guides and eat snacks and plenty of water you will have the best time. I was impressed with the porters and guides for hiking twice a week wearing flip flops. They are the real heroes!
Marco T — Google review
Probably the best viewpoint from the top of any hike I’ve ever been on. It was totally worth not being able to sleep at all in a tent for one night to get here. It’s definitely possible to do this in one day, but there’s a high chance of altitude sickness from going that fast and it also seemed like the mountain tends to be clearer in the mornings, so for both those reasons it’s probably best to hire a trekking company. The major downside to this is you’re potentially locked in to a single day to summit, so you really need to get lucky on the weather if it’s not peak dry season and also hope you don’t get food poisoning or something from the unhygienic campsites.
- — Google review
One of the most beautiful views on this planet and i have been hiking in Austria, Australia, New Zealand and Norway! We did 3D2N, the following things were included: apartment one day before the tour starts, transportation from the harbour to the apartment and then to the start location, from end location to kuta! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks were very filling and very good! Our guide was very nice and helpful. We had one porter for us both who carried our tent, sleeping mattress, sleeping bags, food, water and rubbish! Our clothes and stuff we had to carry ourselves of course. The hike is very difficult, because the ground is 1/3 of the hiking time very loose and sometimes slippery. You don’t make much kilometres, but you do gain a lot of altitude meters! You should be definitely very sporty, otherwise you will have bad muscle soreness the days after. And your knees will hurt during the trip if you don’t hike/walk a lot in your free time! Bring definitely warm clothes, big jacket, gloves, hat, warm socks, headlight and a face mask with you. If you don’t have, no worries you can borrow everything at the apartment the night before the tour starts! Good luck!

Good 3days 2night hike experience Porter will carry your extra weight with charges Miss the indomie cook up there Building the camp under rain Hike is tougher than I expected during the peak at 2am Overall good life experience must go once if u like the immersive volcano view
DEREKWAH — Google review
Great mountain - very challenging hike, hiking poles are an essential for the loose volcano scree towards the summit and for the path down. Biggest downside is the large amount of waste, plastic, food and human waste around the mountain - a cleaning fee should be imposed so that a cleaning team can clean up the mountain. No facilities are there either in terms of toilets or mountain huts, toilet facilities would be beneficial and a solution to fix the human waste issue (as seen in European mountain).

Amazing experience, we did 2 days/ 1 night. It's a difficult and intense trek because the ground is very technical but it deserves to be done because the view at the top is breathtaking.

Overrated beach, quite empty and silente. Not the easiest tò reach and not really pink

Nothing pink to see here, the road down is horrible and not really a good spot to swim either. Don't waste your time on this spot, it probably had it's glory days before the pandemic now it just seems to be forgotten.

✨ Pink Beach in Komodo is absolutely stunning — soft sand with a natural pink shade, crystal-clear water, and amazing snorkeling. A unique and peaceful spot that feels like paradise — definitely worth visiting while in Bali & Komodo! 🌸🏝️
Tatiana K — Google review
The Pink Beach on Padar Island is often referred to as Long Pink Beach to distinguish it from Pantai Merah on Komodo Island. It is a stunning, lesser-visited alternative to the main Pink Beach. Here is a review and guide for visiting the Pink Beach on Padar Island: The Experience: Remote Beauty and Vibrant Color Vibrant Pink Sand: This Beach has a brighter, more vibrant pink hue than its counterpart on Komodo Island, making it a stronger contender for the "pinkest" beach in the region. The color comes from the crushed red coral fragments mixing with the white sand. Secluded Atmosphere:Because the main focus of Padar Island is the famous viewpoint hike, the Long Pink Beach tends to be **less crowded** than the one on Komodo Island, offering a more peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Dramatic Backdrop:It is nestled in a cove on the northern side of Padar Island, backed by the same rugged, grassy, volcanic hills that make the Padar viewpoint so famous, creating a highly dramatic and picturesque setting. 2. Activities at Padar's Pink Beach The experience is usually a combination of the iconic Padar viewpoint hike and a visit to the beach. Snorkeling & Swimming:The water is crystal-clear and warm. It is an excellent spot for snorkeling, with vibrant coral reefs close to the shore, though some say the snorkeling is better at the Komodo Island Pink Beach. Relaxing Due to the fewer crowds, it's a perfect place to simply relax on the unique sand and soak up the sun. You can rent kayaks/canoes in the calm bay. | Photography The contrast between the brilliant pink sand, the turquoise water, and the surrounding green/brown hills makes it one of the most photogenic beaches in Indonesia. Local Vendors Unlike the main Komodo Pink Beach (Pantai Merah), the Long Pink Beach on Padar Island often has a few small local vendors (**warungs**) selling light snacks and cold drinks/coconuts. | Access:Padar Island's Pink Beach is only accessible by boat tour from Labuan Bajo, the gateway town to the Komodo National Park. In summary: If your primary goal is to see the most vibrant pink sand possible in a less crowded setting, the Long Pink Beach on Padar Island is often the preferred choice among travelers.

Pink Beach in Labuan Bajo is a beach in Komodo National Park which is famous for its pink sand. To reach there, you need to take a boat from Labuan Bajo, usually as part of a tour package to Komodo Island. This place offers beautiful scenery and activities such as snorkelling and swimming in the clear water with coral reefs that are rich in marine life.

Reality is different from web info. Come in October which is already a low season, still, way too many human around than fishes and too much rubbish. Not really that natural consider the amount of shops here, something needs to be done before this place got trashed.

Ghifaroza — Google review
A breathtaking place where wild green islands meet the calm ocean. The atmosphere is both peaceful and powerful, making it feel truly special. The sand has a soft pink hue, though not as bright as in some edited pictures – but still unique and beautiful in its natural way. What doesn’t belong here is the trash. Instead of endless drone and selfie-stick sessions, each boat could easily take a bag of garbage back to help preserve this paradise. Overall, an unforgettable spot with stunning scenery and a rare pink touch on the beach.

The island boasts three distinct beaches with white, pink, and black sand. Visitors can embark on a 20-minute uphill hike to reach the main viewpoint and witness the stunning beauty of all three beaches from above.
Padar Island is the first stop on the day trip package with most touring operators. You get to climb the top of the hill here and see some breathtaking views of the nature, the hike is worth the effort. The steps are easy to climb on except at the last section where it gets a little difficult for people who are mostly sedentary otherwise.

This piece of island is simply stunning. Upon reaching the island, you’ll be greeted by the carefree and beautiful deers that reside there. We had the good fortune of arriving earlier, so the crowd wasn’t there. We made the ascent, which takes around 20-30 minutes depending on your fitness level. However, there are stops along the way with breathtaking views and photo opportunities. But the best part comes when you reach the summit. You’ll be glad you made it here, and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The crystal-clear waters along the curved shoreline, the waves crashing against the rocks, and the entire backdrop are too magnificent to be described in words. We spent a few minutes enjoying the peace and quiet before the place started to fill up with people. Luckily, we got what we needed. 😊

It was a significant hike if 815 steps but the breathtaking view makes it totally worth it! Wear sneakers instead of slippers and bring your water coz you will sweat. Not recommended for unfit aged persons

Padar Island is one of the most famous and photographed destinations within **Komodo National Park** in Indonesia, renowned for its incredible panoramic views. 1. Iconic Viewpoint and Beaches The Famous View: The main draw is the relatively short, but steep, hike to the island's summit. From the top, you get a breathtaking 360-degree vista of the rugged, savannah-covered island and its three crescent-shaped bays. Tri-Colored Beaches: What makes the view unique is that the three bays visible from the top each have a beach with a different colored sand: White Sand,Black Sand(volcanic in origin),Pink Sand (due to pulverized red coral mixing with the white sand, similar to the famous Pink Beach nearby) 2. Location and Access Location:Padar is the third-largest island in Komodo National Park, situated between Komodo Island and Rinca Island in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Access:The island is uninhabited and is visited primarily by boat tours. Starting Point:The gateway to the park, and Padar Island, is Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores. Travel Time: A boat trip from Labuan Bajo to Padar Island typically takes about 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the type of boat (speed boat is faster). Tour Options:Most visitors take a day trip or are on a multi-day liveaboard tour that includes Padar, Komodo, Rinca, and Manta Point. 3. Hiking and Activities The Hike:The trek to the viewpoint is generally considered moderately challenging due to the steep incline, but it's short, usually taking 30-45 minutes to reach the top. The trail now features a mix of wooden stairs, stone steps, and dirt path sections. Best Time to Hike: To avoid the intense heat, most tours aim for a sunrise or late afternoon/sunset hike for the best golden light for photography. Other Activities:Visitors can also swim, relax on the different colored beaches, or enjoy snorkeling/diving in the surrounding clear waters, which are known for rich marine life. 4. Important Note No Komodo Dragons:While the island is part of Komodo National Park, Padar Island is largely free of the famous Komodo dragons (though historically they were present). For dragon sightings, you will need to visit the neighboring Komodo Island or Rinca Island with a park ranger.

Arrive here at arround 8 AM and already packed up with tourist, recommend to go here at low season so it does not get to crowded when you arrive at the top, the views from the top viewpoint are incredible and really worth with the hike with many steps. The beach is also very beautiful

The morning at Padar Island felt like stepping into a dream. As the first light began to touch the sky, the soft hues of orange and pink painted the hills and sea in the most magical way. The air was cool and gentle, carrying the faint sound of birds chirping from somewhere between the cliffs a natural melody that made the whole island feel alive 🏝️ Climbing up to the viewpoint before sunrise was a bit challenging, but every step felt worth it once I reached the top. Standing there, watching the sun slowly rise over the three curved bays, I felt this quiet sense of awe. The view was beyond words layers of golden light kissing the ocean, calm waves shimmering, and the soft rustle of morning wind brushing through the grass. If you ever visit, come early. Listen to the birds, watch the sky change colors, and let the beauty of the island fill your heart. It’s not just beautiful it’s legendary. 🌅

Padar Island is actually insane. The hike is lowkey a workout but the view at the top is just breath taking and genuinely worth every single step. The layered hills and different coloured waters look unreal, like straight out of a wallpaper or drone edit. The scenery is so aesthetic it does not feel real at all. If you are into nature, photos, or just chasing main character moments, this place delivers. Pure vibes, pure beauty, 10/10 must visit if you are anywhere near Komodo.
