Such a beautiful and lovely place to visit. They have everything from fish, plants, outdoor decorations, barbecues, cafes, playgrounds, snacks & food, pet feed & toys, plants and more. I love the beautiful array of indoor plants, seeing the Koi Carp, the frozen bakery treats (great for the airfryer) and just walking around! There is so much to see :)

Fabulous garden centre with lots of areas. Plants to trees to gifts to bedding. Lots of eateries. Fabulous soft play area along with a huge outdoor area. My grandkids love the bouncing pillows and zip wire. We booked an outside cabin for an afternoon with afternoon tea. The food itself was a bit disappointing: every sandwich was tuna. I wouldn’t pay for the picnic lunch again. Despite this my grandkids had a wonderful visit.

I visited Grass Hoppers today with my three young children, and we all had a fantastic time. The indoor and outdoor play areas kept my kids entertained for hours, and everything was spotlessly clean. I really appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the step in the toilets to help little ones reach the sink. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. There is a really good selection of snacks and drinks and the coffee was really good! As we were leaving, my 7 year old daughter got lost for a few minutes, and I was understandably panicking. The staff at reception responded immediately and knew exactly what to do, they handled the situation calmly and professionally, and my daughter was found quickly and safely. I’m so grateful for their quick action and kindness. A wonderful, safe, and family friendly place, we’ll definitely be back!

Love this garden centre. Part of a group. The plants are always top quality. Staff are very knowledgeable. The restaurant is very good, the breakfast is really nice. Fresh products taste so much better!

Visited for a birthday meal in The Mezzanine restaurant. Had the Sunday beef roast dinner which was excellent. Prices are reasonable and the menu, besides the roast, had a decent offer. Service was good and expectations managed by explaining that they were busy and there might be a wait - there wasn't! The garden centre is extensive and had great seasonal sections - Christmas at present. Plenty typical of parking but it can get VERY busy! Worth a look.

Its been many years, since I've been to Tong garden centre. We decided to have a trip out to the centre on Sunday for the lovely Christmas decoration displays, Very surprised how it has expanded. Though very busy, plenty of space to look around. We decided to have lunch, we went to the upstairs restaurant plenty of empty tables we went to sit down when we were rudely abruptly asked if we have booked, we said no, to be told it was full all tables booked. If that was the case why so many empty tables at 2pm in the afternoon & where were all these people that had booked. We went to the cafe down stairs no problem getting a seat there were plenty of tables free. Ordered our food. The service was very slow food Pilling up on the counter waiting to go out, getting cold. Our food came it wasn't hot. My order got forgotten I had to reorder again waiting staff were very slow they obviously can't cope with the size of the cafe. My experience of our visit, I won't be back in a hurry.

I recently visited Tong Garden Centre and was really impressed by how beautiful and clean the place was — it’s such a lovely spot to walk around and browse. However, I was quite disappointed with the food. I ordered a jacket potato with tuna, and unfortunately, it was awful — it tasted obviously reheated and not fresh at all. Such a shame, as everything else about the visit was wonderful. I’d definitely go back for the garden centre itself, but I’d think twice before eating there again.

A good day out for all the family, make sure you check out both ends of the site. Lots of history and exhibitions which are all interesting. The staff are really friendly and helpful, always willing to tell you stories of pit life and work. However......few things that let it down: 1. Car park not the biggest when events are on. 2. Many of the hands on exhibits were either broken or not working... Disappointing for the kids. 3. Outdoor play area showing signs of age and worn or broken parts. But the worst......was the café....very slow service, menu limited(if you find one) and very expensive and poorly presented. No price list in wall. Coffee was cold and took an age to make. Shame about the above points, as I think we would go more....but until it improves probably not.

Completely free unless you wish to donate. Helpful staff. Was there on a quite day so we got to experience the exhibits. The later half after the nature walk is definitely the best bit. Quite a few of the attractions were not open and some of the electronics were not working. We went on a Sunday. Big plot, lovely walk and lots of nature around. Some of the machines looked great, but had definitely seen better days. All in all a decent and interesting day out

Great museum. Spent a good few hours there. Unfortunately no underground tours at the moment due to strikes but still had a really good day. The tour of the bath house and time tunnel were both fantastic. Walked through the nature trail to see the pit pony centre.

Power house and cafe was closed today. Would be good to have a couple of motorbike parking spaces out of the way. Rest of the museum was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Tour guide Jack 😉 to take us down the mine was very informative and knowledgeable.

Fantastic place to visit book and go down 140 meters to the coal face Joe took us down very knowledgeable and a laugh to boot couldn't ask for more thank you childrens play area and picnic tables. Cafe closed when we went so unable to comment on it but overall highly recommend going

Absolutely brilliant. This is a great family attraction. My second visit after a good few years. We did the underground tour, with Gaz our guide. I have to give this man a massive shout out. On our tour we had two nervous little boys. Gaz was brilliant with them both and really brought them into the tour. A great sense of humour and a marvellous singing voice. On our way back to the surface he sang a very haunting song. His voice carried so well as we ascended. It gave me goosebumps and I admit, I filled up. While you are getting kitted up, have your photo done. We spent five hours here and I know we didn't cover everything. The train ride was great and the two guys on duty were lovely. Chatty and cheerful, with a great sense of humour. Visit the cafe for a beverage and a bite to eat, you won't be disappointed. The gift shop is well stocked and here you can collect your photos. Toilet facilities and parking onsite. We paid £7.50 parking and £7.50 each for the underground tour. They also give you a souvenir tally. Lots to see and learn about. The mining history can be quite sad. A fantastic day, well done to all the staff at Caphouse, we will be back 😀

A lovely place with friendly staff. You can spend about 1.5 hours visiting the museum and there is a large playground for your kid.

A great day out for all. Beautiful gardens, surrounded by stunning scenery and extraordinary sculptures. Well worth a visit. The gardens are situated in a valley so you need to be fairly fit to walk down and back but the slopes and steps make it possible even for older visitors.

Loved it here. Beautiful park full of loads of amazing sculptures. Lots of areas to explore. I particularly enjoyed the William Kentridge exhibition and the chapel too. Highly recommended and look forward to my next visit.

A random day out, selected by my daughter. I had never heard of the place but found it really enjoyable. The day we went was early November, very misty with a slight drizzle toward the end if our time, this actually made the atmosphere quite eerie. £9.50 entrance fee seemed fair. We only had a few hours so want to go back probably on a sunny day as there is a lot more to explore.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a wonderful place to explore, with amazing sculptures set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. It’s easy to spend hours wandering through the open spaces, enjoying the artwork and relaxing atmosphere. The park is well-kept and offers plenty of facilities, making it convenient and comfortable for visitors. Overall, it’s a great spot for a calm day out filled with creativity and nature.

This has long been on my list and well worth it. I was bowled over with the exhibits, enjoyed myself even with the rain. Plenty of trees to shelter under. Huge park, the site map shows routes and distance, a few times I was disorientated needing some more signposts. I worked out I walked over 12k with my round trip and gallery walks. A fun Art Studio in the Underground Gallery with objects, paper and coloured pencils to create ones own art. Accessibility: Good, one room I thought was difficult due to the door and the gallery in the Chapel. Otherwise Lifts, Ramps and accessible Paths. Scooters and Wheelchairs for hire. Some hilly areas, and you need to get onto the grass to get close up to quite a few sculptures. Car Park: Not too far from the entrance with parking for disabled nearer. Staff: Friendly and helpful. Toilets: In the main building and another set in the park. Disabled loo.

Plenty to see, though you do need to be wide-ranging in viewpoints about sculptures. The sculptures range from simple "Ah yes, I can see what that is." to "OK, but from where I am it looks more like a ...." So, you need to be open minded. There are big names in art and less well known. The works are displayed mainly in open parkland so be prepared for a walk. It is possible for disabled visitors to borrow either a wheelchair or a Tramper (mobility scooter) to roam far and wide.

The sculptures are set in beautiful grounds and the sculptures are extremely varied. There are a number of location maps around the grounds but I feel where individual pieces are could be made more clear.

Beautiful location with an extensive view over the valley. The tour is more a lecture as there is not much to see. I lived in California, where most tours were free, including the tasting, but here it is to generate income. It was informative, and the 3 wines tasted were surprisingly good even though all are relatively low alcohol. Lunch however was very good, food excellent,service friendly and attentive plus amazing views. Due to low wine production bottle prices are high which is understandable. As a food and beverage venue it is quite lovely. They do weddings and have accommodations which look nice. A vineyard in Yorkshire that until the day before my visit I did not know existed...definitely worth checking out and I think it is essential to support this kind of local business.

We called in for Sunday lunch after a tour /tasting session. (40 people were on the tour. The man that led the tour was very knowledgeable and funny.) However the tasting part were 3 different wines. 40 people shared 2 bottles of rose, 40 people shared 2 bottles of white wine and you've guessed it, 40 people shared 2 bottles of red wine. There was only just enough wine to take a couple of sips. For the same price the following week we visited a restaurant in Leeds and we had three wines - each glass 70% full plus a snack to accompany the wine. For the same price. The wines were rich in flavour. We had booked a Sunday lunch too and everything was presented well, good size portions, very hot plates. But the plates were taken off the table before we'd finished eating. I just finished and my plate was taken whilst my husband was still eating. His plate was removed whilst he still had his knife and fork in his hands and food in his mouth. We felt rushed out. We had gone to celebrate a birthday and the staff really spoilt it for us. Sadly we will not return.

Sunday dinner 3 course for £31 cannot complain at all. Amazing views and great service. Enjoyed a glass of two of their own wine. Starter was mid but the Sunday roast belly pork and sticky toffee pudding were amazing. Friendly staff too.

We booked for the dinner, bed & breakfast with vineyard tour. Absolutely amazing views. The apartment was lovely but is looking a bit tired in places. It's quite noisy as there is wooden decking outside so the sound of footfall echoes and vibrates through your room. You need to close the curtains as everyone who walks past looks in, I'm a fan of natural light so this irked me. The bed was comfortable and huge but the duvet didn't fit so we had to sleep in the middle of the bed so we both had cover. The service was great, the young lads who served us at dinner were outstanding and very accommodating. The food was great, it looked and tasted lovely. When we arrived for dinner a lady barged past us and was quite rude. We realised later that the lady worked there as she was seated at a table with a laptop. The black pudding, bacon & sausage were overdone and quite hard to cut. The choice of music over breakfast was slightly off putting. Jay-Z singing some horrendously racist words was appalling. We stupidly didn't say anything but a table nearby mentioned the same song. We inadvertently left a kindle & charger behind and emailed a lovely lady who advised us on postage. I've since received an email asking for an extra £5 (on top of the postage costs) for them to take it to the Post Office! A little bit steep, maybe they're not selling enough wine?! We've got to pay it otherwise we won't get our belongings back! Whatever happened to Common courtesy and doing a good deed?

Lovely winery. Did the tour £16pp for a 2 hour talk, and tasted 3 wines at the end. The guy doing the talk was excellent and went onto every detail about the vines and wines. Understandably they only produce small batches, but found the wine a bit pricy at £19 per bottle. Stunning views and well worth a visit.

We had afternoon tea followed by a vineyard tour and wine tasting. Beautiful place in a lovely setting. Just a shame the sun wasn't shining. The food was great, friendly staff. The vineyard tour was interesting and the wine was very nice, my favourite was the white wine. Would recommend this place , I think we'll be visiting again and have lunch next time.

Me and a friend had the pleasure of attending the wine tour and tasting and then finishing by sitting on the balcony enjoying an afternoon tea. The views were incredible. The food was yummy. The wine was scrumptious!

What a brilliant and beautiful place. I am a carer for a boy with disabilities who is not easily entertained or kept engaged enough to not want to leave place after 2 hours, Canon hall was different. Greeted by a lovely lady called Rebecca who scanned our ticket we booked online. Rebecca kindly and clearly explained about the pumpkin patch and the activities on the brochure given to you. Rebecca also gave me a great heads up about the free parking for care assistants - honestly really helpful annd genuine advice from her. The little boy I Look after enjoyed every section. - The goats -the sheep ( sheep racing was his favourite) - watching the cow get moved about - all the other animals -the two different park sections - the pumpkin patch -the pumpkin carving - anddddddd a soft play area ?!? We were spoilt for choice. Spent 4 hours here, could have been a lot longer if we didn’t have to get home. On our way out we also bumped into the lovely Rebecca again who interacted brilliantly with the little boy I look after and explained to us the best way to get out ( give that woman a raise she was great). Canon hall farm is a beautiful, scenic place to come to, and most staff are friendly and genuine. I recommend it highly 👍

I took my daughter there for her birthday and we loved it. We enjoyed seeing the animal. I watched a sheep race. They have a indoor area and outdoor area. They're really good the food was fresh and well served. I do recommend this place

The parking was really big and more than enough spaces. We pre paid online. The farm is fantastic, it's well set out and enough for all ages to enjoy. The animals are well looked After and the surroundings are well cared for. Love the farm shop. Definitely will be back again. You could take your own food and leave it in your car until needed, also cafe well laid out, clean and has a play area for. Kiddies.

Beautiful mature trees... plenty of space for dogs to run around and play off lead. Very dog-friendly all round! It can be busy on nice days, but there's plenty of parking, especially in the top car park. A great destination for family members of all ages.

This place has been on my bucket list for such a long time. What a gem! I could’ve have walked around three times instead of twice. Visited with my teenage son and hubby. We all loved it. Staff are friendly. The lemon drizzle style ice cream was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS 😋 The chips are delightful. The shop was great. But the highlight for us all was all the fabulous animals. Piglets, chickens, sheep, meerkats, alpacas, Guinea pigs, reptiles, cows, goats, reindeer. I could go on and on. The animal feed was cheap and loved by the sheep and cows. I was disappointed that we couldn’t get closer to the animals but it was still a fantastic day and I didn’t want it to end. The paths are well maintained. The animals look so happy and well looked after. I was sad to leave, especially as we’d not seen farmer Dave or Rob, but maybe next time as I will be back.

Really enjoyed our visit here and so did the grandchildren who proudly left with their pumpkins, had cake and coffee in the lucky pup and really enjoyed that also, next time I will stay over at one of the local hotels and take a closer look at Barnsley. Really enjoyable visit and will be back.

What an excellent place to visit, will definitely be returning. The set up is great you have the chance to buy animal food and feed certain animals. It’s a great place to take the kids with lots for them to do. We ate in The White Bull and the food was amazing, the farm shop is also a great place to go with an extensive range of local produce. Well done Cannon Hall Farm.

This time, I had the chance to visit the lounge of 9320. It offered hamburgers, hot dogs, fried fish, french fries, and some pies. The most impressive thing was the Asahi beer! The seats in the venue were quite comfortable. Although I'm not a fan of the City team, this venue experience was quite good.

Unbelievable stadium, but don’t expect a big atmosphere from the fans compared to other teams, except during the big games. If you’re going to a match, the leather seats between Blocks 121 and 131 are honestly the most comfortable ones you can book. Blocks 110 to 142 also have leather seats and are perfect if you want to focus on the match and enjoy the football. Just keep in mind that you’ll mostly be sitting among older fans there, so the vibe is usually calm. But if it’s your first time attending a big match and you want to feel the atmosphere, go for seats in Blocks 019 to 032 or 010 to 042. The seats there aren’t as comfortable, but you’ll definitely experience the best crowd energy when it’s a big game. If the weather looks rainy, make sure to wear a jacket or book seats higher up in the Level 100 or 300 sections for better cover. I had a great experience over the last three years in this stadium, and I really appreciate how easy it is to buy tickets through their official website. Based on what I know, there’s only one halal food option available inside the stadium, so it’s better to eat beforehand if you prefer halal meals. There’s also a small prayer room, which is a nice touch, but it would be great if they could add more prayer spaces in different stands or create a larger one that’s easier to access. That would definitely help reduce the crowding before matches or during halftime.

This was a great way to spend a few hours on the stadium tour. Funny and informative guides, really good atmosphere. Great to see where the players go about their match day rituals, through the tunnel club hospitality bar, into the gym and changing room, and right to pitch side. We even got the chance to sit in Peps chair pitch side and have photos with the man himself. Fantastic value for the price of the tickets, would highly recommend.

Event staff at the Stadium were tremendously helpful for a 'black tie' charity fundraising event, couldn't have gone more smoothly - apart from two emergency evacuations, fortunately an hour before the first guests arrived! (False alarms but a good test of their processes by the security teams.) And, unusually, for Manchester, it wasn't raining (jj)! Result!

Arrived via the Manchester Metrolink tram (Etihad Campus stop—short walk). Turned up in the morning and found it closed until 10:00, so note that tours/City Store generally open from 10. This isn’t a public jogging venue like Jakarta’s GBK—no track access outside events—but the complex is clean, modern, and easy to navigate with excellent tram links. For match days, expect efficient security, contactless payments across kiosks, and a lively atmosphere around the concourse. On non-match days, book a stadium tour if you want more than exterior photos. Tips: come after 10:00, check fixtures/tour slots in advance, travel light due to bag restrictions, and use the tram for hassle-free access. Overall, a very impressive stadium even if you only have time for a quick look.

We went to see Moulin Rouge! and overall had a great experience. The theatre is showing its age in places and the seating is a little cramped, but all adds to the ambience. The drinks I feel are overpriced and I was slightly flummoxed when our drinks to seat arrived in a paper take out bag, but I cannot fault the staff's enthusiasm to help.

My youngest daughter gave me a gift voucher for ATG theatre tickets last year for my birthday and I used it to buy great center stage seats, 13 rows from the stage in the stalls, for my wife and I to see the fantastic Moulin Rouge musical tonight. It's a large theatre with a 2,000 seating capacity. There were moderate queues on the pavement outside waiting to go though security checks prior to having our online tickets scanned before entering the large foyer. From there we went down to the stall bars to have some pre-show drinks, ordered & prepaid for our interval drinks, which we took to our seats once the doors into the stalls were opened, about 25 mins before the start of the show. Unusually the male & female toilets were actually located on either side of the stalls and not off the bar or front lobby. There was decent leg room in front of tired but comfy seats and although they were pretty narrow, they weren't the narrowest theatre seats we have sat in. Some of the artists came onto the stage shortly before the show to strike some poses and peek at the audience from behind the giant Moulin Rouge sign that dominated the large & deep stage - it was a very unique and great pre-start to the show The show followed the story line of the Baz Loman Moulin Rouge film set in Paris around 1900 starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. It told the tragic story of Satine, a courtesan & star of the Moulin Rouge, through fantastic song & dance sets with modern pop hits and witty dialogue interjected with lyrics from recent pop songs. The singing, dancing, music, costumes, sets and production were all exceptional and the show just flew by with hit after hit songs being played. The lighting, sound & sets were very good and the audience were invited to get up from their seats to join in with a few songs for the encore section, which lasted about 5 minutes before the cast took a well deserved standing ovation in their curtain call.

Recently attended Sunny Afternoon, great seats, plenty of legroom. Love the ability to have food/drinks delivered to your seat before the show and at the interval. The theatre is clean, the staff friendly. Always a great night at the theatre.

Love all the Shows we have seen here over the Years at the Palace .. Miss Siagon was just a Beautiful Heartwarming Production. Best Seating View at the Palace in my opinion is from the Middle of the Dress Circle (book early as these tickets go first) steep steps in the Upper Circle as you would expect from such an antiquity of a Wonderful Historically Impressive Theatre .. would recommend booking early for the best seating .. TopTip: booking through your Blue Light Card ATG Theatres can get you some great deals 👍

The production of Fiddler on the Roof at the Palace Theatre in Manchester is a vivid blend of tradition and change, inviting the audience to reflect on the meaning of community and personal identity. It impresses with energetic choreography, well-paced storytelling, and powerful moments of both humour and emotion. Although the story is a classic, the show successfully refreshes it through its modern stage design and a strong ensemble cast — a worthwhile choice for anyone who appreciates a musical with depth and heart.

I prefer Liverpool Empire for sound quality. And bar service. You can have food and drinks delivered to your seat. Toilets near our seats and door to bar or working area made it noisy, circle seat L1,2,3. Staff helpful and friendly. Not my fave venue but I would go again if there was something I wanted to see. Also didn't pay for limited view but had a part of the set right in my view at one performance I saw a few weeks ago. Went last week and all was fine.

Great theatre, had pre show drinks in the piano bar, service in the theatre bars was quick, only negative is there are toilets off the main stalls area, you get a bright light every time someone goes in, can here people chatting and the hand dryer too! Really off-putting.

This is a great museum and can be done in about 2-3 hours and is good for all ages. It's free to get in but you can make a donation. The vivarium was very popular. The gift shop had some good and interesting items for souvenirs or gifts. There is an elevator for those with strollers or that can't do stairs. They're are several different sections to see. The Egyptian section has a real mummified person that you can view, along with their sarcophagus. There are taxidermy animals and the skeleton of a whale. Lots to see and definitely worth a visit. There is even a good cafe attached for a snack once you're done.

Great place to visit for a couple of hours. Went mainly to see the triceratops skull which is on display until February and it was well worth seeing! Plenty of things to see including other dinosaurs and fossils. Egyptian mummies and other artefacts too. Free to enter but need to book tickets for triceratops- still free though. Donations are of course welcome.

My son and I had a truly wonderful time visiting the Historical Art Exhibition in Manchester. We were both deeply impressed by the richness of the displays and the beauty of the precious artifacts. My 7-year-old son was especially delighted to see so many fascinating and valuable pieces from the past, which sparked his curiosity and excitement. It was such a joyful experience for him before starting his new school day, and for me it was a memorable moment to share with him, filled with learning and admiration.

So many fascinating things to see, from taxidermy to fossils to gems to live animals! I could've stayed the whole day. There is a big variety of things here, you'd never get bored! And it's free! I had such lovely time here.

We recently spent a truly spectacular day at the Manchester Museum. This isn't just a collection of old things; it's a vibrant journey through time, packed with amazing artifacts and compelling histories that capture the imagination of every visitor. The historical collections are beautifully curated, offering deep dives into everything from Ancient Egypt to natural sciences, presenting human history and the wonders of the natural world in an accessible and awe-inspiring way. The Star Attraction: Triceratops: Eat, Roam, Repeat. While the entire museum is brilliant, the main event for us was undoubtedly the special exhibition, Triceratops: Eat, Roam, Repeat. I can't recommend this highly enough, especially for families with young children. The exhibition is designed to be incredibly interactive, turning learning into a hands-on adventure. It perfectly balances fascinating historical facts about the iconic dinosaur with opportunities to explore, move, and play. Seeing the sheer scale of the Triceratops skull is breathtaking, but the clever, child-friendly displays bring its ancient life into sharp focus. Our four-year-old had the best time exploring every corner. The exhibit encourages curiosity and active participation, keeping little hands and minds busy. To top off the dino-mite experience, the fun Dino dig was the perfect finale. Watching our little one, brush in hand, enthusiastically unearth 'fossils' felt like a real-life archaeological discovery. It’s details like this—making history tangible and fun—that set the Manchester Museum apart.

Very nice museum. Free admission. Nice local history and natural history exhibits. Easy access by public transport. Cafe on the premises, plenty of seating. Also suitable for families with children

This was a cool museum. I brought my four year old and he had a really interesting time. There were some nice interactive bits alongside stuff to look at. It had plenty in it but we also happily left after about an hour and a half / two hours. Dinosaurs was a fave as was the frog farm (probs not the real name). Wasn’t so busy. Might have been harder with kids aged 2-3.

It was the 1st time we've been to Magna this weekend and we loved it. Lots to do and see, the big melt was amazing and got my 6 year old attention which is not easy to do. My sons favourite floor was the water floor and he was drenched when we came out of it. Luckily we had a towel to hand but it was good fun. We had a mix of a picnic and food from the cafe (the cafe food is expensive). The playground adventure had lots for all ages and my partner even went on the zip line too. The water park looks lovely but my boy said it was too cold to go in.

An absolutely epic place for kids and adults alike! So interactive and interesting it kept us all entertained for hours. I loved the set up representing the 4 elements earth, wind, fire and water plus I found the big melt interesting (a little jumpy for my 2 year old). The outside park was huge and if we lived closer we would be there all the time! They had standard play area equipment but standpits I couldn't get my 2 year old out of and a water park I couldn't get my 5 year old out of! 100% recommend and we will be going back!

Went to the Magna science centre today and it was great. The exhibition was interesting, interactive and quite inspiring. The place is massive but it felt full of interesting things to do and look at. I felt like I was on red dwarf at one point haha. My niece enjoyed it and got involved. The cafe is ok, there are plenty of toilets and there is also a good park outside. The bonus is that you pay once and get an annual pass free, fantastic!

We got there very early, highly recommend getting there for opening time. It is quite dark so be aware, it can be quite noisy so if you have a sensor problem with sound take ear protection. There are plenty of interactive things to do, you will be very entertained, great for all age groups, we went with a toddler and he love all of it ( not the noisy parts of course) They have toilets on every floor and seats for you to rest on every floor and entrance. They have a cafe with plenty of seating they also have a specific packed lunch area too with is different and nice. The food prices where good not expensive at all. They have a large outside play area with a dry part and wet part. Be prepared for your kids to gey wet. Bout indoor and out. Best are is the year round ticket

Absolutely fantastic day out! Can't wait to visit again. The park and splash pad outside is a day in itself. Our 18 month old loved running round and all the interactive things. Cafe was nice, staff friendly. Only thing I'd say to improve was the baby changing facilities were a bit rough and would be nice to have some stations dotted round to refil water bottles. Otherwise really recommend Magna!

Went today with a 10 year old. He started off looking bored, but after 4 hours had to drag him out! Very good value for money. The exhibitions were great, but often too dark to see the words on the exhibits. Cafe was ok, long queues at busy times and slow service. The “Big Melt” was a little disappointing to start with but got better, although a lot of small children were taken out screaming - it’s very loud. We then were invited to tour the factory floor - probably just those with older kids- I loved it, but it went on a bit too long, just looking at rusty old machines. Be aware, it’s very cold, it’s a cavernous steel shed with no heating, it’s often rather dark and uneven floors, and the Water exhibit is, quite wet ! Outside the adventure playground is huge and suitable for a wide age group, very clean and well maintained

Wow, absolutely amazing day! If I'd read other reviews before buying tickets I may not have gone but what a mistake that would have been. Went with a 9 and 10 year old and they enjoyed every minute. So many interactive things for them to do and so much to see. We could have stayed much longer, will definitely make use of the annual pass! The outdoor play area and water area is brilliant and a day out in itself. How anyone says they got round the museum in an hour is beyond me. I couldn't get the kids out! Was definitely not cold anywhere although im sure thats different in winter months but I'd happily wrap up to go back.

Been here before. Plenty of shops and food quarter to eat in. Stayed in hotel near by so could return with better photos. Plenty of security staff and shops clean and tidy. Had taco bell which was nice and hot. Popeyes which I found quite spicy. Overall shopping centre with lots of choices. Being on Sunday was very busy. And car park looked full. Xmas lights looked nice.worth a visit once xmas sets in.

Meadowhall is a massive shopping area right next to the M1 motorway. Been around a few year now and needs more upgrades in certain areas. Lots of parking in privately owned car park free for a certain amount of hours. Lots of big brand shopping outlets for everyone’s needs regardless of age or gender. There used to be a lot more individually owned shops rather than just jig department stores which is a shame. I would go in the week if possible weekends are mental. No supermarkets but a M & S so most things covered. Worth going to for sure.

Meadowhall is a huge shopping centre, so huge that I felt overwhelmed. At times I was disoriented and had no idea which section of the shopping centre I was in. Virtually every high street shop is present along with a few independents. My favourite shop was Lindt Chocolates. If you enjoy large shopping, you may live Meadows which has great variety of shops and eateries!

Meadowhall remains a bustling shopping hub, offering a mix of retail, dining, and entertainment. The Oasis Dining Quarter provides various food options, making it a great spot for a break during shopping. As for Motorfest, it was a spectacular event featuring Hollywood cars, classic vehicles, and even Transformers like Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. The event also supported Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, with charity. Visitors enjoyed live music, arts and crafts, and even supercar passenger rides for donations. It was a truly great experience.

Came for Christmas shopping. Place was easy accessable for my wheelchair. Beautiful decorations there is an abundance of different things to shop for and veriaty of food to eat

Love meadowhall with its range of shops and free parking. Plenty of places to eat too. I would not advise going in school holidays or as Christmas approaches,on a Saturday. It does get very busy but we enjoyed our visit on a Friday late November.

Great shopping center and easy to reach via public transport, has a train station. Plenty of parking. It's huge, very easy to get lost but that's all part of it. Pretty much every shop you'd imagine to be in such a large place. Plenty of good food and things to do. Definitely worth a visit.

Firstly, this is a free to enter venue. The botanical gardens are a beautiful piece of serenity within a large city. The gardens are stunning and laid out in a way that enables one to amble around relaxing. There are many varied areas with lots of different themes, all utterly gorgeous. We saw lots of squirrels that are so tame they can be hand fed. We also stopped at the café for a very welcome cup of tea. The gardens are definitely worth a visit.

Great place to visit and free too. We were pleasantly surprised, its really is a hidden gem. The Glass House is full of interesting plants and the gardens are really well maintained. The squirrels were very friendly and entertaining.

The botanical garden is beautiful in autumn, with trees in many shades creating lovely layers of colour. We went in the morning, and the squirrels were very active. Several even came close looking for food, which was really cute.

It is a wonderful garden and I am not just saying that because I live close by and I love Sheffield's parks and gardens in general. It has a great variety of plants and species. Has a great cafe. There are often event run at this site too. There are two plant sales that happen in a year, one in spring and one in autumn.

A great place to get away from it all. Some lovely walks around the gardens, loads of plants and trees (looks lovely). Most plants and trees have labels to help you identify them. There are plenty of seats in all parts of the gardens, some are in lovely quiet places. Spent ages just looking at the plants and listening to the wildlife. There is a cafe and toilets. When I visited the indoor part of the gardens were closed for maintenance. It is free to enter!

Surprisingly nice and well kept gardens even in winter! Great for a stroll through nature and an escape from the city. Keep an eye out for the fat squirrels.

A wonderful place to relax with family and alone. It's a beautiful view of different corners. There are a large number of different varieties of magnolia here, about 30 species, so it is worth returning here at the end of May. There is also an alley with roses, both old and new varieties. There is a greenhouse with a great number of plants, especially cool cacti, aloe which was planted in 2003 and looks like a tree, there are also banana trees. Admission is free here, but you can make a donation online. Also on the territory there are many interesting tablets with the history of the garden, which will be especially relevant for children in the study of biology and nature in general. There's a café and a parking lot.

Great day out. We went to the annual Plant sale, entry £4 which included gardens and the hall. Fantastic value. The sun was shining so we had a lovely walk around the gardens then sat and watched the world go by. Purchased a couple of ornamentals from the plant fair. Beautiful place to visit and I would highly recommend. Took some great photos too.

On a sunny, non event day it's a lovely tranquil place to spend some time enjoying the gardens, estate and cafe. The portions of cake are large and the scones rival National Trust. Come for the gardens, stay for the scones.

What a beautiful place this is... the grounds are amazing. We were here for the Lapland UK experience and WOW! If its something you have never done before then its definitely worth a visit. The elves (staff) are incredible they make the experience magical. Its definitely worth every penny you spend. It can be a little costly if like us you have more than a couple of kids but the memories you take home and the experience you get the price doesn't matter at all. 5* from start to finish.

Stayed in the camper van on the small site adjacent to the hall , the grounds and house are beautiful and the site as a great amenities block , only minus on this visit is pitches need a little TLC I collected up quite a few screws and bolts from our pitch which could of easily punctured a tire .

We had an absolutely incredible wedding at Capesthorne. The team were so friendly and helpful throughout.

My family and I went to Capesthorne Hall on Monday the 25th of August as I knew the Hall and Gardens were to be fully opened to the visitors. It was a Car show going on on the Estate as well but that was not the reason of my visit there. Having said that, at the entrance of the Estate we were met by the stewards, which only later on I learnt that they were for the Car show only and the one who I had to speak with and pay the entrance fee made me believe that the price charged by them( £25 for my daughter, mum and I ) included the entrance for the house and gardens too : I kept telling them that I was not interested in to the Car show and all we were there for was the house and gardens and also that I have done my homework going on the estate site beforevmy visit and already knew that all I had to pay was £4 per person and £2 for parking. To no avail They kept telling me that the day was not good for visiting as they were busy with the show and the gardens might not be fully open and maybe it was a good ideea to visit it on another day. I knew they were open and insisted to go through and they kept saying that the £10 fee is payable for each adult in the car and £5 for my daughter, who is 11, at the gate. I assumed they were the estate staff and I gave in and paid the sum asked, only to find out when we wanted to visit the house and gardens that we have to pay again the already mentioned above and known about fee-£4 each. I explained to the Hall staff the situation encountered at the entrance to the Estate and they allowed us to enter without paying again. They said they were going to raise the issue with the management and that it might have been only a misunderstanding. Apparently The Car show staff had nothing to do with the Hall and Gardens per se, but the Car show gate keepers did not make any efforts to understand that all I wanted was to visit the place not the show and that they should have said they had nothing to do with the Hall and Gardens and should have guided us towards the Hall. I was very upset about the situation encountered as I felt the Hall were at a loss and my family and I were tricked into believing that the amount paid at the gates covered for visiting the Hall and gardens. I can only hope there weren't any other visitors for Hall and Gardens charged unnecessarily like ourselves. Despite this unfortunate event I truly believe the estate deserves a very good rating: The Gardens were beautifully tranquil despite the show at the front going on. We really enjoyed our walk through the forest and around the lake! We were happy we had the opportunity to visit inside the house too and learn about its history.

We had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Capesthorne Hall, and it truly left an impression. The venue is nothing short of spectacular, with its mix of historic charm and natural beauty. The grandeur of the hall itself, with its stunning architecture and elegant interiors, provided a perfect backdrop for timeless, classic photos. What stood out to us the most were the incredible outdoor spaces. The lakeside views and formal gardens gave us so many opportunities to capture romantic, scenic shots. The whole setting feels almost storybook-like, which added a magical touch to the couple’s portraits. Though we’ve only worked here once, the experience was fantastic. The staff were really welcoming and helpful, ensuring everything flowed smoothly throughout the day. It’s a venue that offers something truly unique, and we’d love to shoot there again. If you're looking for a place that combines elegance with beautiful natural surroundings, Capesthorne Hall is a fantastic choice.

Beautiful gardens with free street parking if you can find it or loads of paid parking either around the town or in the gardens which can be located by the main road. Free public toilets, a small railway train that goes around the park for £2.50 per person, lasts around 5 minutes and is very cute, allowing you to see and take in the park from different angles. Theres loads of different paths, trees, wildlife and plants, some with information plaques, as well as frequent benches, bins and play parks for the kids. Extremely child, disabled and pet friendly. The streams, ponds and riverways are very well kept, as is the whole park and its lovley to see the ducks and wildlife enjoy it too.

Nice easy walk round a pond. Lots of water birds, ducks ,geese, herons. Quite a bit of duck poo on paths near pond. Nice bar, cafe, swimming pool, music venue.

Love the pavilion gardens here in Buxton. Some nice snack/eateries, locally made beers and I particularly like the "hot house" garden, and walking around the park.

What a lovely and unique place. We walked around gardens for a bit, lots of wild birds, small water lakes, had live music playing, which made atmosphere really nice.

Beautiful, well maintained gardens and old heritage buildings. Would be lovely to see more of the Pavilion buildings themselves open and used though.

We visited today as I'd booked a backstage pass for my Mum's birthday present. We go for shows often but never seen backstage before. The staff (volunteers) were excellent and very knowledgeable on everything including the history. Got to see the orchestra pit, the stage, the VIP area, the artist rooms where they get ready, and all around the seat areas. Would highly recommend.

Went to watch The Illegal Eagles on Friday evening…what a fantastic experience! The venue itself is an absolutely beautiful old building, a truly stunning setting for any performing artist. The staff inside, who I believe were volunteers, were wonderful. They were polite, courteous, and friendly throughout. They kindly directed me straight to the VIP lounge upstairs, which I had booked as a special treat to celebrate a birthday. The lounge, although small, was worth every penny. The host was lovely and welcoming, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, a perfect place to chat with other theatre-goers who had also booked the experience. I honestly can’t wait to return to Buxton and visit the Opera House again — it’s always a real thrill. I’ve also discovered that they offer heritage tours of the Opera House, which I imagine would be absolutely fascinating.

We went to see The Vanishing Elephant. The opera house is amazing a beautiful old building well worth a visit. Old fashioned service by friendly staff. The show was really good too. Would recommend

We had a wonderful evening at the Opera House watching Frankie's Guys, a very talented group of four guys showcasing the songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Together with the four band members, we were kept entertained for 2 hours. All staff we encountered, from the security personnel, the bar staff and the auditorium staff, were very friendly and professional.

Beautiful interior to this amazing theatre. Have visited and watched numerous shows here. Sound and lighting are brilliant!

The opera house is a beautiful building internally. It has a very good variation of entertainment, from tribute groups to Irish music & dancing and theatrical performances.

A stunning building. Always an absolute pleasure to go here.

Visited Poole’s Cavern yesterday and had a great experience. Our guide, Anne, was friendly, welcoming, and made the tour really engaging. She explained everything in an interesting and clear way, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

It's the people who work here that really makes this place. The cavern is a fascinating, geological wonder with an interesting history, but it was our tour guide, Callum that brought it all to life. He told us about the man John Poole who the cave was named after. He was a thoroughly nasty character who got a very satisfying cummupence, courtesy of the Buxton locals. Next he spoke of some of the other artifacts found including but not limited to Roman remains in a shrine to a water goddess. He spoke of the caves acquisition by a rich Victorian gentleman, and the side hustles that the impoverished children that were hired as tour guides at the time would use to extort more money out of the wealthy elite. Very industrious. It even has connections to Mary Queen of Scots, more specifically her portrait artist. The cavern also boasts 'poached egg stalacmites' that are only found in this cave system. Fascinating. This excavation is run through a charity that has already broken through into more of the cavern and hopes to soon use drones to bring footage from a cave blocked off from human eyes thousands of years ago. I would urge you to book a guide, buy the guidebook which is excellent and run amok in the giftshop which is full of crystally goodness as all this goes in towards this very important research. If you're really lucky, you might even get Callum to show you around.

We were suprised that due to my husband walking with a rollator and not being able to do stairs we were able to part of this tour for free which included a carer. Our guide was very knowledgeable and staff were really friendly. Would thoroughly recommend it. Also a sculpture walk next to it which not accessible but looked amazing. Also Go Ape next door.

Brilliant experience! It’s really well laid out and the lighting is very atmospheric. Dog friendly too, for a quid. There are guides in there too with lots of info if you’re on a self-guided tour. Can walk through it in 20-30min if you’re in a rush.

A living relic of ancient history right beneath our feet. We'll worth an easy stroll on a well lit, well supervised and grippy, almost adhesive path. The coffee alone is worth a quick visit and the staff are a pleasant and accommodating bunch.

Our tour guide Anne was absolutely brilliant. She answered my children’s endless questions and was so knowledgeable and interesting. She made it very fun. The cave was gorgeous and truly fascinating.

We took the guided tour, which takes about 45 minutes. It so worth it, given the exceptional knowledge of our guide and his style of delivery. Definitely recommend this way to see the caves. The on site cafe, though small, gives great service.

Went to Chatsworth for the Christmas markets, light trail and to see the house wonderfully decorated for Christmas. Really enjoyed the decorations in the house, which was a nature theme this year, bringing the outside in. The grandeur of the house is magnificent, with a great history, you can wander round at your own leisure. There are guides in every room who are friendly and very approachable ready to answer any questions you may have. There are lots of places to eat and drink and some nice gift shops, plenty of toilets and amenities for baby changing and people with disabilities. The grounds are extensive and well kept, I particularly liked the rock garden, which looked lovely lit up. The market is very good, with all the usual Christmas stalls, selling gifts and food/wine/ gin tasting, most off the stalls I did notice were card only, I did draw some cash out and ended up spending it in the gift shops. The ground the stalls are on is all got a ground cover on so not muddy. There is plenty of seating areas for when you grab a coffee or burger etc.

We enjoy visiting Chatsworth House. This time an art exhibition was on display, which changed the experience in a positive way. We don’t always get to see the animals, but we were able to this time around. The weather was great. The staff were helpful. We had a poke around the shops. A lovely day out. I would recommend to anyone, especially if you haven’t been before

Visited Chatsworth Christmas on the 23rd November. It was truly a lovely day. The Christmas market is excellent, very different from your average UK Christmas market. The quality of food, drink and products on offer was brilliant. Definitely visit the Scone hut, they are truly to die for. Chatsworth House Christmas display is outstanding and walking the garden just adds that extra dimension to a great day. Add in the gift shops and the overall atmosphere and you will not be disappointed. If you are local in Derbyshire then do one thing, go to Chatsworth, its a no brainer.

The Chatsworth Christmas ticket gives you access to the House, unlimited entry to the gardens for one day, and you can also access the Christmas market (which is free). It’s a lovely day out and well worth the ticket price. Be warned, food and drink inside is very pricey (but what do you expect?). I’d recommend the Stables for something lovely and warm that doesn’t break the bank.

Fabulous visit to chatsworth house & Christmas Market. Lovely stalls to look round. You will love the house with all the Christmas trees and the wonderful decorations. The walk round the gardens were just wonderful too. So worth a visit at this time of year.

An absolutely magical, Christmas experience! The house itself is mind blowing and each room makes you gasp with how much detail and care has gone into each and every decoration. It was laid out perfectly and even had sounds and scents through each experience. The gardens were beautiful to walk through and the Christmas markets were spectacular 😍 There was something for everyone to enjoy there! I cant wait to come back again next year 🎄✨️🎁

Bought tickets well in advance to visit the house and also the Christmas markets. My family enjoyed visiting the house, it's very easy to get around there are a few staircases which you need to navigate. As the visit is in preparation for Christmas there are lots of Christmas trees beautifully presented throughout and the staff are very helpful and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas markets; having been to lots of busy public access Christmas markets like Manchester, Liverpool, York etc it was a fantastic relaxing experience to be able to walk around freely and visit the different vendors. Will certainly look at returning.

Compared to other castles and British monuments, this attraction isn't very extensive. It essentially consists of two buildings: a medieval mansion for receiving guests, and the castle, where the nobility resided. Furthermore, since the attraction was once abandoned, most of the furniture and decorations are missing or damaged. Despite this, it's still well worth a visit. The castle is built on a magnificent hill, offering stunning views of the surrounding area from the castle gate. The interior is also unique, and wandering through the rooms makes you feel like you've stepped back into the Middle Ages.As a half-day family weekend trip, followed by a good lunch, I think it is very good.

English heritage site well conserved with good information. Spectacular views on clear days. Dog friendly in areas without a roof, except for the café. Friendly informative staff. Fairly good free parking around Bolsover. Only negative is signage to the castle. Well worth a visit.

Nice little castle to explore in a great setting with lot's of ruins. The smaller castle is very interesting, with lot's of winding stairs, marble fireplaces, paintings, architecture etc. Some great views from the castle and there's also a nice walled walk accessible from inside the castle. I'd probably say it would take 2-3 hours at most to explore everything. There's free parking and also some additional parking nearby that you have to pay for. Also on site There's a small playground that is quite good, which is very close by to the cafe. We didn't use the cafe so not sure on prices - quality of food. There's also a few benches around so you could sit and bring your own food if you like. There's a nice gift shop there to, which is definitely overpriced but they always are. There's also a nice wetherspoons nearby if you wanted breakfast/lunch. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable here.

A very small castle, but my goodness what a history. to be honest you can normally walk around it in an hour but on my visit 25.8.25 there was a jousting display and static displays of medieval life with interesting talks. A superb family day out for all ages. I really can't recommend joining English Heritage highly enough, the whole day, and it was a whole day was fabulous.

Great castle and stunning views. We went while the Halloween events were on and my 6 year old absolutely loved it. I think it would have been nice for more information to be around to read, for those of us that didn't pick up an audio guide (they are hard to listen to with a young child running around), some short descriptions of each of the rooms around the castle would have been really interesting. But overall really enjoyed our visit!

We visited Bolsover Castle to 21st November 2025. It is a fabulous Castle, there is plenty to do for all ages. A very nice coffee shop and gift shop, children's adventure playground and plenty of outdoor seating. The Castle very interesting to walk round. There are some out of this world veiws of Derbyshire from the Castle.

Bolsover in my opinion is the best example of 17th century castles I've been to. Built purely for entertaining royalty and the hierarchy it truly shows how the other half lived. I recommend you book online if you are not a member of English heritage and allow yourself at least 3 hours to look around,free audio machines available for free which are very informative.

It was our first visit and we hadn't realised how big the site was. We recently had English Heritage membership, so had free entry. There was ample free parking and the ruins of the old house and impressive newer house. Lots of interesting history and rooms you can access, such as Bess' bed chamber. Lots of tapestries, including one made by Queen Mary. Nice shop and cafe and beautiful gardens. Plenty to see and do.

A really amazing place to visit. We only expected to be a couple of hours at most, but there was so much to see. The visit also includes the adjacent old hall ruins. The house is stunning, and the interiors are decorated with the most amazing embroidery which hangs from almost every wall and room. The volunteers are very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the property. We took our dog and he was welcome in an area of the restaurant, which was nice as it was cold and raining. We would have liked to walk more of the grounds and gardens, but the weather put us off. They do look stunning and I'm sure on a better day would have been very enjoyable.

Fantastic to look around. Amazing house and gardens, easily able to spend a full day there and more. I could just look at the tapestries for days! Well worth a visit if you're into history or just beautiful places.

We haven't been here for quite a few years and we're pleasantly surprised, there is a lot more to see and do. The guides were interesting and knowledgeable but not overpowering like at some properties. A very pleasant day out 😁

Expect an expansive estate as the drive from the entrance to the parking lot must be a mile long. This property features two historic buildings: Old Hardwick Hall and the Renaissance style Manse known as Hardwick Hall. Bess of Hardwick was born in the original hall and had it renovated to impress guests in 1587. When her 4th husband died and she came into substantial funds she built the latter and present day manse. We were able to tour both with our National Trust memberships (via Royal Oak Society). One can climb to the top of the Old Hall for a bit of a view of the countryside if the weather is accommodating. There are no handrails, though, so take walking sticks if you think you need support while traversing the original stone steps. The Manse is huge and the tour is quite extensive. It is self guided but volunteers are available for questions. Some unique features are the longest Elizabethan Long Hall in the National Trust holdings. It has 450 year old tapestries hanging on the walls. There are also four noble women tapestries that Bess designed specifically for this house. She was obviously quite a talented woman. There are some gardens along the front and the back of the house, but not a formal designed style like you see on some properties. Parking was in a very large lot a bit of a distance from the entrance. There is a cafe on the grounds that offers a delicious cream tea as well as a myriad of other delights, all reasonably priced.

Intriguing place punched atop a hill looking out sadly over the M1 now, but back in the day it would have been quite the most magnificent spot for party's. Some old Yes topiary and magnificent Cedar of Lebanon stand century in the garden providing a great contrast from the pinkish yellow stone and unbelievable lead pane windows which adorn the hall.

A wonderful historical place of interest with stunning tapestries. We spent a very happy 3 and a half hours there. Checking out the history of bess's family, with help from the very knowledgeable volunteers. Strolling the gardens and climbing the 127 steps of old Hardwick hall. Then stopping for a very tasty cheese scone and coffee in the restaurant.

Had a fantastic day here. The staff were fantastic. The in character staff were amazing and so friendly and knowledgeable. Special shout goes to Mel who showed us round one of the caves. She was fantastic and a real credit to you. So funny and knowledgable. There’s lots to do up there. The cable car ride is great. 2 caves to tour and plenty of fun for the kids on the play grounds. The cafe was brilliant. Had a lovely panini in there and some lovely cake. We came on a weekday outside of the school holidays and didn’t have to wait for anything. Lots of walking to be done and some is rather steep.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here today. It was our first time visiting and had no idea what to expect, but what a day we had. I’ve come to write a review because I want to give recognition to Lorin, the lovely guy that did our Cavern tour. He was so helpful, approachable, and even took the time out to stay back and show us some fossils in the final cavern, because my autistic son’s special interest is dinosaurs. He was brilliant with both of my children and made the tour really quite special. Give this man a raise immediately HoA! 🥲🤣

Great couple of hours at least spent with great views . The Cave experience is informative and interesting. The cafe is very good with great selection at reasonable prices. parking is in the station carpark payable . Blue badge holders can pay for time and get an hour ontop free. It is a short walk to the cable car ticket office. Just be aware that the last 150yard to Ticket office is steep.

Plenty to see and do. The cable cart was good fun being dangled so high up. The tower was great for the veiws and cave tours were both informative and entertaining. The staff are all friendly and good fun. Lots of walking involved, but well worth it.

Had a great little visit here. Really enjoyed the cave lighting show, the cable car, live band playing, beautiful views. Food wasn’t cheap but wasn’t too over priced. Staff were all friendly and pleasant to talk to which always makes a difference. Would definitely return.

We had a fab time, the cable cars are just a tiny part of it... Wish it had been a longer ride up and down but there is a lot more to see and do. We enjoyed as a family of 4. Big shout out to 'the other Steve' who was really patient with my 10 year old asking lots of questions about geology. After the cavern he even suggested a place for him to dig. EXCELLENT! This is an interesting way to spend the day on your holiday! Excellent, very well manned cable carts to take you to the hill/mountain? At the top, you’re instantly met with more helpful staff full of information on where to go and what you can do. There’s two caves, both equally interesting totally made by the excellent curation and delivery or stories by the guides (Jordan and Bessie were first class). There’s two excellent play areas suitable for most ages (above toddler I think). Fabulous cafe, where we had excellent service by Sue plus the views were spectacular! I was super impressed they had a variety of gluten free vegan cakes (that were not the usual boring brownies!). They also had two bars ( one is the oldest licensed bar in Matlock). There’s also a Wombles building, a couple of lovely gift shops, lots of information, a pizza van and more. The views are incredible. Overall, this is great value for money and something the children will not forget.

Great place for family day out. Swimming pool is a bit outdated but still beats others with slightly better theming. Don't look at rusty metal works and enjoy the waves and slides which are any age friendly, steps climb isn't too excessive and one doesn't have heart attack at middle age while climbing them, so one can still have fun in any age. They are trying stay on top of cleaning mess of pool and changing rooms. Again it does the job and it isn't too bad compared to some other pools. Restaurant offered quiet decent fried food with meal deals and share pallets, which was actually ok for fast food, but not too many healthy options, there was vegetarian Nd vegan option and beer for beer lovers. £5 refundable locker deposit, nice. £24 single entry and deal on family ticket or on dine or mini golf. Well it does come to a hundred at least for family of three with food but again kids have lots of fun. Viewing area for non paying customers isn't very comfortable or one can't see much unfortunately. Area is warm and one can sit and rest on chair and table. Website is very descriptive. Car park is about £6 if you stay 3 hours or more

Came last year and really enjoyed it, went last weekend and my gosh the place has nose dived. Organised chaos. Came for my lads 11th birthday and there was a poo in the outdoor pool, which took some time to clean, the queue system for the rings makes no sense, one line at the right hand side all waiting for singles, then you see people just walk up the left hand side taking doubles, so I asked (as I was waiting for a double) oh is that what we do, when we need a double use the left lane. No you wait in a line, then if I see you are waiting for a double I’ll call you forward? Err… didn’t make much sense. As I waited another 2 - 3 mins and then said, yeah you can come forward now? Needs two seperate lines one for singles and one for doubles or a member of staff asking, you a two? Yep, cool. Come forward. Then there are the queues on the stairs, swapping over mid stairway for one slide then the other over the various floors. We worked out at the very top, the queue was around 33 mins, mainly due to having one member of staff not only watching the ring one (possibly the cyclone) and then watching the (almost vertical ) slide at the same time. Just needs some actual management and some signage. A lot of unhappy people complaining about the same things. No mention that the blast slide was closed either, the one that’s like a rollercoaster and we are still waiting for a refund on our locker wrist bands. So disappointed after such a great visit last year. Wayyyy too many people in, no time limits or didn’t appear to be. Didn’t stay the full 3 hours of our slot because we all got bored of queuing, it was like human soup in the wave pool part. Water was cold, some places were clean, but the changing rooms absolutely packed to the heavens and when you have cold kids, couldn’t find a changing room for ages. Also adults walking about the pool area with trainers on and even when we raised it on hygiene concerns, they didn’t challenge it. Don’t think we will be coming back again sadly. Only giving it a two because of the first time.

We went with the boys (8 and 11 yo) on a Sat during Oct half-term, it was fabulous! The boys loved it and we spent 5 hours inside. We arrived early in the morning like 10:30, changing room was dry and clean, locker is easy to use. We paid £6 for the car park as we plan to stay long inside. Temperature inside is ok, a bit chilli if you get wet and stay out of the water, but the water is warm enough to stay long inside. We managed to play all the rides with less than 10 min wait before more people started to come at around noon. So my advice will be arrive early and enjoy the time with less people. We did get food from the cafeteria inside, food is ok, standard quality as you would expect to get inside this type of facility, as least there are enough choices for my fussy eater. More people in the afternoon meant a slightly longer waiting time for each ride, but still very manageable, and the arrangement for queue is good, there are quite many attendants/ life guards inside the facility too. We are from south of England, if there’s any chance we will travel north again, the boys would love to come again.

We spent a day at Waterworld during a heat wave when we visited the area from Scotland. The girl on the desk was lovely and friendly. We had issues using the QR code to pay for parking, so you're best using the machines outside. Parking was £6 for the duration we were there. I was actually surprised I had to pay to park. That's not common in Scotland. Most places have free car parks 😬 We paid, I think £96 for 2 adults and 2 children. You pay £5 deposit for a locker wristband, which you get refunded when you leave. The changing area was very big, and very clean. There were also plenty of lockers. There were a lot of slides, which was great 👍 and the outdoor pool was open, which was amazing when it was 27C outside 😅 My husband can't actually swim, so he was quite happy chilling in the bubble pools or outside. My daughter, her friend, and I went on the slides, river rapids, the wave pool, outdoor pool, and outdoor bubble pool. Lots of staff, and they were all being very attentive, giving clear instructions. I can understand why people in other reviews seem concerned about cleanliness. I wouldn't say the place is "dirty", I saw them doing water checks several times when we were there. It's more that it's in need of quite a bit of maintenance. For example, the race slides paint is badly worn, there is obvious rust on the spiral stairs, all of the tops of the flumes are caked in dust, the fans above the python and blackhole are rusty and covered in dust. It's all quite easily sorted out. The only thing I was actually concerned about was the bottom of the wave pool felt "slimey." You would try to jump with the wave, lose your footing, and you're straight under the water. I've been in many a wave pool lol that's not normal. We got the supreme platter from the cafe, and that was enough for 4 people and pretty affordable. Drinks were very expensive, though. Overall, we enjoyed our day and would happily come back if the maintenance issues were addressed.

Brought my child to Waterworld for the first time she 9 years old and she had the absolute best time staff were friendly and supportive she had the best day ever her words and wants to keep coming back she loved the slides but also loved the tide pool Lots of fun had :)

The second visit was just as good as the first. The place was as clean and well maintained as before, and although it was busy the queues weren't too bad. The changing rooms did the job.

Great water park we had a fab day. I had read a lot of bad reviews but we found it pretty good. It was clean and yes some of the slides and steps are old. But it was brilliant fun and all the staff were amazing. It did get a bit too busy after 2pm. But if you get there early you can have a great few hours. The outside pool is lovely too and is heated. Will definitely be back. Thank you

A beautiful area with plenty of walking, the path along the riverside can be rough in places so mind your step. The walk (fairly steep and loose) up Thorpe Cloud by the stepping stones gives stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Beautiful place, however the natural beauty is spoiled by many who leave behind all their rubbish. Fulled used baby nappies in the car park, left in the parking bay with bins within 20 yards, plastic bottles, crisp packets amongst many. The National Trust staff try their best to litter pick and offer bin bags to large families who set up picnics but there are still many individuals who can't use the bins. Maybe it's a strange concept or maybe they are just dirty, lazy people. This is a national park that should be looked after by all.

One of my favourite places to hike in the Peak District because of how gorgeous it is and how accessible it is for us. The stepping stones are always fun. The climb to Thorpe Cloud is lovely for a great view and very doable with kids. There's a £6 min. charge for parking (unless you have a National Trust membership, in which case it's free). There's a small coffee truck on the car park for refreshments. We tend to take a picnic with is instead.

I visited Dovedale Stepping Stones recently and absolutely loved it.The walk from the car park is short and easy, with gorgeous views of the River Dove all along the way. The stepping stones themselves are such a fun and iconic feature,great for kids and adults alike❤️❤️

Beautiful landscape for a trail run or walk, easy enough height to climb. Ample parking and food places for lunch and hot drinks. Summer times are probably the best to visit. Short winter days and cold might not be a best time for some.

Amazing for walks, picnics and hiking. The toilets are tiny and get very busy due to this. You have to pay 20p but i saw people just going over and squeezing past the turnstiles. Plenty of parking available with food stalls. An amazing place. As with all popular places, come early if you want to beat the rush

Brilliant lovely day out with family. Shops and cafes really good selection. Garden centre is definitely worth a visit. I spent way to much on a wire fairy ( inprogress as we speak.

I visited Trentham Gardens today, I've been on many occasions and I have always enjoyed it and today wasn't an exception. But I was so pleased to see so many beautiful plants and all the nature that was being attracted by them. I'm not sure what the part is called but it's the little bit by the children's play area, which has a red bridge and a pond. Well I'm a massive fan of real flowers, bees, ladybirds etc and I was so happy to see the flowers and that area flourishing! Myself and my daughter (9yo) loved watching all the bees and wasps going from one flower to another. We loved seeing all the different things growing there and how calm and relaxing it was! It's beautiful and you can tell it's being well taken care of!

We visited for the Halloween event on the evening. Beautiful place to visit as always. The decor was lovely. Sadly they didn't have the seperate disabled access line they've had on previous occasions. The line did move quickly but our child became stressed with being surrounded by a large volume of people waiting in the queue. We booked the first slot for the event to get ahead of the crowds for this reason. Would be great if there was a section for older children who may enjoy being spooked. The food on offer was great.

A fabulous day out, reasonable prices for entry. A beautiful Italian garden & a walk around the lake is recommended. Also an excellent shopping village there too.

Really big estate, didn't get to see all of it, maybe next time when the weather is on my side. Would be great to see the wildlife, but I wasn't so lucky. Loved how intricate the metal dandelion sculptures were.

Amazing place, like a National Trust property but much larger than most of the ones I've been to. Obviously much of the gardens have been restored but they all look amazing. Lots of stopping places if you get tired. The boat ride on the lake is a reasonable cost and really nice on a summer's day. The residence is not accessible as it's just a shell but there are lots of plaques telling you about the history of the place. Would really recommend it for young and old, as there are walking trails around the lake and the youngsters can do a' fairy trail 'to try and spot all the amazing sculptures. There are beavers on the island too, you might not see them but you might spot their handiwork asking the edge of the lake. There are shops just outside the entrance too, I would recommend the ice cream at the Thornton's shop, by far the best on site (and we pretty much tried them all!)

Been a long time annual ticket holder and always pleased to go to the gardens . You sometimes baulk at the price but when you look around the gardens and see how much work goes on it easily value for money . The gardens are great . Lovely to stroll around the lake and pop in one of the two cafes for a drink before pottering around the Italian Gardens . My granddaughter is a great fan of the play park . And yesterday it was our first time on the boat . It was brilliant. Great commentary from the guys on board . Learnt so much and saw some great bits of wildlife . Once again great value at only £3 .

We decided to stop here on our drive home from the Lake District and we’re so glad we did. Totally free to get in, there is a fascinating V&A display showing the history and collections of Wedgwood. We then wandered up to the clay and painting studio, which is a great area to bring kids on a rainy day. They also let us have a look at the factory which was cool. The shop is also really nice, with lovely displays.

Visited the studio for painting some pottery. Staff were so nice and friendly, painted a few pieces all at reasonable prices for each product. You pay for what you paint, rather than just paying to attend which is great. Nice little cafe and factory shop on the campus too.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Pottery Painting at World of Wedgwood Such a lovely place for pottery painting! The prices are very reasonable, and it’s super kid-friendly — perfect for a fun family day out. There’s plenty of parking outside which makes getting there stress-free. You can choose to paint and take your piece home the same day, or leave it to be glazed and pick it up in a few weeks — love the flexibility! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the whole atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a creative, low-pressure activity for all ages!

Every single staff member we encountered was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The guided tour was fascinating and gave great insight into how the beautiful pottery is made. Lunch in the tea room was delicious with plenty of options to choose from. We also did the three-hour pottery lesson – an absolute highlight! Amy, our instructor, was amazing – so patient and encouraging, even though none of us had any experience. We all left with creations that looked like we'd been doing it for years! The whole place was spotless, and the day was perfectly organised from start to finish. Highly recommend – a perfect day out!

Our second time at World of Wedgwood was nothing short of spectacular! We did the factory tour this time and our guide, Jeff was enthusiastic, humourous and insightful the whole time. If you’re about to pick up pottery as a hobby, this is a place to start, as Jeff briefly briefly covered the basics of pottery making while weaving in the story of Josiah’s Wedgwood visionary jasperware creations. We had the high tea after the tour and it was as good as we remembered. The V&A Wedgwood collection is not to be missed as it contains a fascinating archive of works dating back to the 1700s. For crafty folk, there are pottery classes for learning the basics of throwing simple vessels. We highly recommend the experience!

Wonderful museum, factory and creative studio, where we made our first pots, and pained them. Because not resident in UK, had to ask a favour from them to post it next time when we visite family in UK. The planning was perfect, and we got our precious pots packed safely on the day when we arrived. Really grateful for the patience and being so considerate to help us. We will come back again, make / paint more pots, and hopefully keep improving our technique. 💪🏻💪🏻 Don't need to buy tickets before visiting the museum, but best to reserve in advance the factory tour and the the creative studio.

We had a great time here, we dropped onto good weather and being a Tuesday a bit quieter than usual. It's great that you can just walk around with the monkeys free roaming, there are plenty of workers there to look out for you. You must watch a safety briefing before entering, not long at all but important info regarding your visit. The forest is lovely and a nice walk around, its in a loop but both directions there is a hill to climb, I would say keep right, smaller hill. If you are lucky enough to be there when they are doing a feed, they tell you all about the history and about the monkeys. One being 31 years old now, which in human years is over 100. Banana cafe was good too, both having jacket potatoes. Toilet facilities were very good. Ample parking.

This place was amazing! My sister and I loved being able to see the monkeys up so and learn so many different facts about them for example, their origin and their diet. We were lucky enough to be there at the time of their feeding which we got to see a staff member feed the monkeys and teach us how they behave and the hierarchy of the monkey kingdom. At the time of visiting, they had over 100 monkeys to see and around 11 of which being babys as young as 4 weeks old. As you leave the monkey forest, there's a cafe and a really big park with unique attractions such as big tree swings and mystery trails to walk and venture on. This site is truly amazing and I couldn't recommend it for families any more!

Its a nice day out with the children. Its not a huge site so only took about 2 hours to do everything, which included eating in their cafe. The cafe had a nice variety of food and was actually quite reasonably priced. We used kids pass to get 25% entry so paid £44 for 2 adults and 3 children. I have only given 4 stars due to the size of the place and how quickly it took to get around. I would return though but wouldn't want to pay full price and recommend looking for a voucher code like we did.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. £54 for a family of 4, a little on the expensive side I thought, but when you wander in to the monkey enclosure you certainly get your money's worth! There's plenty of monkeys to see and they get quite close to you at times. There were lots of babies (1 month and younger) to see that were ADORABLE! A small play park and den building area for the kids for when you're done and some educational areas. These weren't too informative, but enough. There's also a short meadow walk. We ate from the pizza van and this was really good value at under £10 for a Margherita pizza. The ice cream van was also exceptional! £4.50 for two scoops and you get loads! Shout-out to all the guides in the enclosure. They were all really knowledgeable and were full of chat. We didn't use the cafe but the food looked good and we didn't visit the shop I would recommend at least walking through the enclosure from 4:30 onwards as the monkeys head back up the hill for the evening, very cool to see them all walking home!

I absolutely love monkeys, so I drove five hours round trip to visit the Monkey Forest, and I was absolutely not disappointed! The monkeys are adorable and live freely—they aren't kept in cages. The area is spacious, and I had so much fun watching the little monkeys playing around.

Absolutely great time. Monkeys everywhere, feeding, playing, all natural, ignoring people, other than to play tricks on us, like bouncing in the branches of an acorn tree when people walk underneath! Nice walk, good little cafe. All reasonable prices, including entry tickets. We'll definitely be back.

We’ve been to Trentham Monkey Forest a few times, and it’s always great value for money. Walking through the secure area where the monkeys roam freely is both scenic and fascinating. The well-maintained path winds through grassed areas, which are fenced off with a low ankle-height barrier. The monkeys walk, run, and swing all around you, with knowledgeable staff on hand to answer questions. We were lucky on our last visit — several babies had recently been born, so it was a treat to watch them playing and exploring. The main walk can take anywhere from 30 minutes upwards, depending on how visible and active the monkeys are. For children, there are two lovely outdoor play areas, plus another pleasant walk through an open field. The café is reasonably priced — the food is nothing fancy, but it fills a hole and keeps the kids happy! Overall, if the weather is good, Trentham Monkey Forest is a fantastic family day out.

I have visited many Churches over the years, mainly for the architecture not for any affiliating religious beliefs. And this particular church is somewhat different in design. Brilliant white walls and decor that was explained to me by an official as being Gothic. I have never related Churches to being Gothic but in this case it was pleasant. The white, plaster walls, were also different from the usual stonework configuration. A few people in, there was some kind of Christening service rehearsal going on I believe. An overall pleasant change from the dark interiors of a lot of churches. I would even go so far to say more welcoming. A surprise when we entered but a pleasant surprise. There was also another surprise down some steps, a small chapel for private prayer.

New experience by night. Great to see the cathedral is as pretty at night as it is in the daytime. Always welcoming and run by a friendly team. Amazing seasonal events and such a beautiful grand place. The Christmas concert is always spectacular. Thank you.

Derby Cathedral is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The architecture is stunning, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. They explain the history and details of the cathedral with great interest. It’s a wonderful spot to relax, reflect, and admire the beauty of the city’s heritage.

A beautiful historical cathedral. It's free to look around but are encouraged to contribute to the upkeep with donation boxes. There are information boards throughout the cathedral telling the history over hundreds of years. Well worth a visit.

It was great to view the History and the architect. Meet some nice people trying to entertain and attract your children into the place, the location and some culture, to also back up and reinforce educational experience with regards to the church, the building and of course the religious aspects. Worth a visit for sure.

Quite a small cathedral compared to other major cathedrals in the uk. A very nice gothic and neoclassical style building with quite bright lighting inside. The staff was nice and we had small talk over my pilgrim passport which he fave me a small stamp for.

I really enjoyed my visit to Derby Museum. The archaeology section was full of interesting pieces and told the stories in a way that was easy to follow. The highlight for me was definitely Joseph Wright’s paintings, they were displayed beautifully and felt really special to see in person. The museum itself is easy to get around and has a nice mix of history and art. A great place to spend an afternoon.

Didn't know what a gem this was! Free entry for this place is mad. It has so much to see. There was art, taxidermy, ceramics, history of war room. A cafe on the ground floor too. So much to see and can easily spend a good hour or two here. The staff were pleasant and helpful, too.

This was a fantastic museum to visit, where we went to the section about the history of transportation in Derby! The steam traction engine model is a fantastic feature alongside different trains including diesel ones too, really appreciate the model railways working here.

I'm surprised at the exhibitions within this museum, I took my daughters as they had there school project put up as an exhibition. The staff were really polite and friendly and we're very informative with my girls. There were many looked after artifacts, ranging from roman, Anglo saxon , Egyptian and many more, to which I was actually glued looking at.

Took 3 of our grandchildren here today. They really enjoyed it especially the army section and the mummy and the natural history section. Excellent place.. good disabled access too. Went to the cafe for hot chocolate afterwards.. Free but we gave £10 donation as these places deserve our support

We had an amazing time at Pride park stadium watching England vs Andorra! Stadium spot on, clean toilets and queue to the drinks/snacks went down pretty quickly. Parking was easy and parked right next to the stadium for £10.

What a great stadium for clarity of view and cleanliness. Not disability accessible friendly in any way. If you have any mobility needs be aware accessible tickets sell out very quickly, and there are no accessible lifts to higher levels. blue badge parking is reserved for Derby county fans regardless if it’s an international event. England women matches are held here frequently but home England fans arnt catered for at all and the accessibility staff at Derby just pin point. you to car parks meaning you’re miles away with no way of getting to the ground. I wasn’t the only fan to pick up on this. What I did see was that there were people driving golf carts to make sure those with less ability could get to there turnstile. Food was good and not as pricey as other stadiums we’ve been to.

Came here to watch the lionesses play against Australia this week. Staff were very helpful and friendly and atmosphere was great. Seats aren’t the comfiest but overall layout of the stadium is great. Had seats near the front so was able to see the game very well. Lots of vendors were located outside for the game, as well as portaloos and despite it being a sold out match, the crowds were handled very well and it was easy to get in and out of the stadium.

Took my son for his first ever live game and he loved every time of it (even though DCFC lost 3-5 😢 but it was an entertaining game anyway) I had to register both myself and my son as a fan online then called booked the tockets over the phone, the lady was so nice, friendly and helpful, and she really did give the best seat possible. Thank you 😊 well be going more regularly now

Decent ground, staff treated away support like humans. Reasonable prices and choices on food and drink. Good local parking, bookable on line, easy to escape on to the M1.

Great venue. Gaining entry well organised. Finding your seat a little challenging when its busy. Toilets good. Food vendors good. View excellent. Atmosphere terrific.

We had a great time watching the women's England match vs Australia. Great atmosphere, easy access in to and out of the stadium.
