Phước Điền Tự, also known as Hang Pagoda, is a Buddhist temple located atop Sam Mountain in An Giang province. Built around 1840 - 1845, it is a nationally recognized historical relic with a serene and ancient charm. The pagoda features statues on hillside staircases leading into a network of shrinelike caves, creating a unique and mysterious atmosphere that draws visitors from across the country.
Lovely temple, free to enter, motorbike barking 10K. Includes a climb up the hill with many different places to worship and a cool cave/tunnel system to explore as well.
Norbi — Google review
The pagoda is halfway up on Sam mountain, with many steps to climb up to the pagoda. The architecture of the pagoda is massive, divided into many sections worthshiping visiting apart from the main hall. I was there on Jan 20, when this pagoda was under maintenance and repair, and there weren't many worshiping activities.
Phương N — Google review
A beautiful temple with an amazing view ! You also have many small temples inside and even a cave to visit. To watch the sunset here, unforgettable memories.
Horizon H — Google review
A huge pagoda with many constructions inside. Beautiful and impressive. The landscape around is quite nice.
Han N — Google review
One of the most beautiful religious sites and pilgrimages in Chau Doc. The sanctuary is my favorite compared to commercial shrines in town which I would like not to mention. If you look forward to seeing a quiet, calm, and truly Vietnamese shrine, the Hang pagoda should be on your list. The location is perfect, on mountain side facing the wide delta with numerous rice paddies. The architecture is beautiful and the plants are lush and green
Minh N — Google review
A beautiful temple complex om Sam Mountain. Must see if you are in the vicinity. The entrance is free. The visit is mostly along stairs - being on a mountain - but it's not a hard walk. Nice views of the surroundings.
Eric C — Google review
This pagoda is a magnificent construction. You can see it in the middle of Sam mountain from the way back from Tri Tôn. There are many steps to walk to the main hall, reasonable design, good view around, peaceful and calm when you come here. Especially there is a temple in cave and Buddha statue on the cliff on top.
Phi D — Google review
Very nice temple you can visit for free. Includes a huge area up the hill with many different buildings and even a tunnel system. Big and small prayer rooms, ponds, garden, statues. Also has 2 nice souvenir shops.

Lady Temple at Sam Mountain

Nestled at the base of Nui Sam, Lady Temple at Sam Mountain, also known as Mieu Ba Chua Xu, is a bustling religious site in Vietnam. Devotees can be seen preparing offerings outside the temple, including whole pigs, roast chickens, fruit towers, rice cakes, and pink lotus blossoms. Inside the temple are numerous statues dating back to the 19th century and several stupas dedicated to deceased monks.
The Lady of the Land Temple is currently located at the foot of Sam Mountain in Sam Mountain Ward, Chau Doc City, An Giang Province, but the statue of Lady of the Land was previously located on the top of the mountain. Later, people invited her down to the foot of the mountain for the convenience of burning incense and taking care of her statue. There are also mysterious stories about moving the statue down the mountain that cannot be explained. In the past, before the temple was built, Vietnamese people went up the mountain and accidentally saw a long-forgotten statue. People did not know if it was a god, a saint or a religion, but they followed the custom of worshiping and worshipping, so they placed an incense burner to burn incense and worship their spiritual beliefs. But the special thing was that Lady of the Land was very sacred at that time, making people especially believe in and worship her.
Adventurous — Google review
During our first visit to Vietnam, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Lady Temple at Sam Mountain, and it truly was a unique experience. What made our visit even more special was that we arrived during one of their important celebrations — a vibrant gathering of locals and visitors alike coming to the monastery to make offerings and participate in traditional rituals. The atmosphere was lively and deeply spiritual, with many people paying their respects and celebrating together. We visited around April 5th or 6th, which coincides with an important date in the local calendar (possibly the Hùng Kings’ Festival or another regional observance). Witnessing the temple in this moment of communal devotion was unforgettable. The monastery itself is beautiful, serene, and rich in cultural significance. If you find yourself in the area, a visit to the Lady Temple on Sam Mountain is an absolute must — whether you come during a special occasion or just for a peaceful day of exploration.

Victor L — Google review
It did not feel comfortable to go to praying because a lot of security guys are watching you. We spend time to explored outside the temple area. The temple is very pretty.
Chau N — Google review
The temple is located at the base of Sam mountain and there are many tourist destinations nearby. This is a spiritual place and a sacred temple. There are several legends about the statue of the lady and about this temple that make this place become more and more famous. The temple's most important festival is held from 23rd to 26th of the fourth lunar month. Thousands of people from across the country gather to workship and celebrate. I came on a weekday, just a normal day but still very crowded and a bit difficult to find a parking lot.
Han N — Google review
Been to Sam Mountain five times now and I still love it. Great views, lots of temples, and a really calm vibe. I always pick up the holy bead bracelets here to bring back for friends — they make great souvenirs and are said to bring good luck.
Ross H — Google review
This is considered a sacred pagoda, a destination for visitors, especially on the occasion of Lunar New Year. Update: came back after 5 yrs still a pleasant, value place to visit. No need to buy ticket. Came in weekday so was not crowded. Took approximately 6 hours driving by car from Ho Chi Minh City to here. Highly recommend to come with a trust local travel guide because local people do not speak English.

Tay An Buddhist Temple

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Tay An Buddhist Temple, located in the Sam Mountain complex, is a 19th-century pagoda that showcases a blend of Vietnamese and Indian architectural styles. The temple's facade features three round onion-shaped roofs adorned with vibrant colors, creating a harmonious and visually striking appearance. With an area of 15,000 square meters, the temple is home to over 200 statues, predominantly crafted from wood with intricate designs that reflect both cultural and artistic values from the early 19th century.
I don't understand all that is happening here but it seems to be a vietnamese pilgrimage. It's a 5 hour drive from HCM. We drive through the night and arrive well before the sun is up. I think it's to beat the crowds. The local Buddhist people go to pray. Only takes a few minutes. Then have a feed and back in the car for the drive home.

Xian Temple, also known as Xian Chua Temple, is a Buddhist temple located at the junction, at the foot of Sam Mountain (now belonging to Nui Sam Ward, Chau Doc City, An Giang Province). This temple was classified by the Ministry of Culture as a "national art and architecture monument" according to Decision No. 92 / VH.QD dated July 10, 1980; and officially recognized by Vietnam Record Book Center as "the temple with the architecture combining Indian art style and the first ancient architecture in Vietnam". Tay An Pagoda is located on a high, airy ground, in an area of 15,000 m2. Behind, there is Sam Mountain as the screen breaks out with a dark green color. The most impressive point of the pagoda is the main face with three ancient houses, which are round bulbous in shape, with colorful but harmonious colors. The temple is built in the style of "tam", with architecture combining Indian art style and ancient Vietnamese national architecture. The pagoda was built with durable materials such as bricks and tiles, cement. At the gate of the three gate is the statue of Quan Am Thi Kinh, inside the gate is a small pagoda yard with a high column of 16 m. The front of the pagoda, in the middle, is a two-storey Buddha worshiping tower. On the upper floor is a statue of Buddha standing in the middle of a high floor, especially in the middle of the front of the pagoda is a tower built in the style of Menara Azan of the mosques (Islam) with a round, high dome. This is probably the influence of the architectural styles of the Muslim villages (Islam), namely the holy mubarak, Chau Giang on the other side of the Hau River, not far from Xi'an pagoda. Four pillars on the lower floor are guarded by guardians, and on the front are two elephants: white and black. The main hall is a large row of houses, two-storey roofs, roofed with large tubes, wooden pillars, plugs, tile floors. The two sides are the gong floor and the quadrilateral drum floor, decorated on top of the statues of sacred animals (long, unicorn, qui, pho) very fine art. The great grand rose in the bell tower was created in the 32nd year of Tu Duc (1879). In the main hall there are about 150 [6] statues large and small: Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat, Bat set of vajra, Jade Emperor, Huynh Emperor, Shennong god, etc. elaborate and fine art, representing Vietnamese sculpture in the 19th century. In addition, the pagoda also has many galleries and couplets, vibrant colors. In 1847, the governor of An-Ha (An Giang and Ha Tien), Doan Uan (1795-1850), was happy to set up a great army to defeat the Siamese army, pacify Chan Lap and built a throne. pagoda with brick walls, green stone rolling background, tile roof; and named it Xi'an himself, which implies quietness in the West. In 1861, Venerable Hoang An (Nguyen Nhat Thua) restored the main hall and the post-ancestors. In 1958, Venerable Thich Buu Tho (1893–1972) mobilized to build three new ancient houses, the main and the main hall, so the pagoda has the appearance like today. The first abbot was Venerable Nguyen Van Giac (1788–1875), the legal name of Hai Tinh, who followed the Lam Te sect, so some people called Tay An pagoda the Lam Te pagoda.

Sam Mountain, located in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province, is a significant peak and holy site with numerous temples. Rising 284 meters above sea level, it offers picturesque views of the surrounding plains. Visitors can explore historic structures like Thoa Ngoc Hau Tomb and Temple of Confucius before heading to the mountain. The area around the base of Sam Mountain is home to several pagodas and temples, including Ba Chua Xu Temple.
Amazing place. What a surprise. The mountain is has a cable car to the top. There you find a magical instagram able site and snack stalls and garden but it was the Temple at the bottom which is tardis like, and developed into so many cave rooms; that really blew us away. So peaceful and beautiful. Plus lots of Vietnamese come here to take lovely photos of themselves in national dress. Loved it here.
Robyn “ — Google review
2 ways to reach the summit, drive a vehicle or take a cable car. I'd prefer the first one. There are many beautiful pagodas on the way up to the mountain, you can drop by. This is the highest mountain in the Mekong Delta, a nice place for overview of the area and also a sacred place. The statue of Ba Chua Xu was found here and then was moved to the current temple.

Market
Chau Doc Market is a popular destination in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province. Located at Bach Dang Street, it's known for its friendly locals who are always willing to help visitors find their way. The market offers a vibrant atmosphere with colorful shop fronts and is the largest town near the Vietnamese/Cambodian river border crossing.
If you like gritty, authentic local markets that don't cater in the slightest to tourists, this is the place for you. Lots of variety and quite extensive. I have read it's a great place to eat, but we came midmorning and only found a few options.
Jonathan K — Google review
An eclectic mix of stalls with hairdressers, nail bars, tattoos, massages etc. scattered among the vegetables and t shirts. Jam packed with stalls, might be a problem if you're claustrophobic. Fun people watching and taking pictures, if you ask stall holders whether they mind first.
Mary T — Google review
Good food. However if you can't eat fish sauce, you shouldn't try bún mắm or bún cá
Hiếu Đ — Google review
Lots of goodies. Make sure you check a few stalls as prices vary.
CT N — Google review
It's a market.. It's a boreing market. Why you ask.. Unfortunately in Vietnam especially.. When you vist a market all the stalls are selling the same food products. I have seen this across my extensive trips around Vietnam... If you have one stall selling mango. I gaurantee you have 20 more stalls selling mangos. There is know variety here it's the same thing at each stall Which is disappointing.. And the vendors get very pissed if you do not buy from them... So yes it's a market. But it's a very boreing market after the first 5 minutes..

Beautiful silks and a great value! I wish we’d bought more, especially the men’s shirts!
Carol M — Google review
We took the rickshaw ride and tour the busy streets of the town and along the riverside. This was our chance to explore the silk making artists. We wanted to focus on the people more than the product. Within humble homes or workshops, the silkworms—creatures as small as grains of rice—are nurtured with extraordinary care. Entire households are dedicated to their wellbeing, ensuring they are neither too warm nor too cold. These people possess an almost mystical knowledge of the silkworm's needs, knowing precisely when the time comes for the creatures to begin spinning their cocoons. Their patience is a virtue, for the silkworm is a delicate master of its art.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Tra Su Cajuput Forest, located in An Giang Province, is a vast 800-hectare mangrove landscape that serves as a sanctuary for numerous bird species. Visitors can explore the area by small boat, navigating through narrow channels surrounded by gnarled cajuput trees. The forest is home to a diverse range of colorful birds and other wildlife such as storks, herons, bats, snakes, and turtles.
Incredible place. Apparently it was re-wilded in the 1980s and protected since 2004. Absolutely magical. The biodiversity and wildlife is amazing. The boat trips (one gentle canoe) and two long tail boat trips were fantastic. I could have spent all day just gently floating by. We were super lucky as it was really quiet. We only saw 2 other tourists on the delta that day highly recommend a visit.
Robyn “ — Google review
Tra Su Cajuput Forest is absolutely a must-visit destination. We booked our trip through our hotel in Chau Doc, which offered a convenient all-inclusive package including tickets and transportation. This was essential because the forest is quite remote—definitely not a place you want to navigate on your own. Our driver took us there, waited patiently during our visit, and brought us back to the hotel, making the whole experience stress-free and seamless. The entrance tickets were included in the package, so there were no hidden costs. The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the boat ride through the serene waterways of the forest, which is part of the ticket price—no extra fees. The lush greenery, peaceful atmosphere, and unique landscape make Tra Su Cajuput Forest a truly mesmerizing and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended! PS: Do not forget your mosquito repellent.
Sam S — Google review
Beautiful forest with many birds and plants. We bought a combo ticket for 230K that included entry, paddle boat and motor boat. I really enjoyed how peaceful the paddle boat was. The motor boat was a little disappointing - rushed straight through the forest without taking any time to appreciate it. Many other boats were stopped for a long time to get pictures but we just zoomed straight past. They drop you to another part of the forest to explore and then take you back which was nice though. The entry point we put into maps was Thốt Nốt Sữa (Trà Sư) which had free motorbike parking. Definitely recommend going early in the morning.
Charlee — Google review
If you’re looking for a place that perfectly captures Vietnam’s diverse forests and stunning natural beauty, this spot is an absolute must-visit. The entrance ticket costs 120,000 VND, with optional rides that make the experience even more memorable: a motorboat ride for 70,000 VND (round trip) and a rowing boat for another 70,000 VND (round trip). I highly recommend trying both! The motorboat takes you deep into the heart of the forest, where you can admire the vast scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Then, switch to the rowing boat — it glides through narrow forest paths, offering a closer, more intimate view of the surroundings. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a few birds up close! 🐦 On top of that, don’t miss the observation tower — the ticket costs only 5,000 VND, and it’s absolutely worth it! From the top (about five to six stories high), you’ll get a panoramic view of the forest stretching endlessly beneath you — a breathtaking sight you shouldn’t miss. 🌳✨ And here’s a fun bonus: the pigeons here are surprisingly friendly! You can buy a small pack of dried seeds for just 10,000 VND to feed them — some will even perch on your arms to grab a snack. It’s such a wholesome experience, and if you’re curious, check out my video below for a better look at the moment! 🎥✨ The staff here are super friendly, too. You’ll also find a few small souvenir stalls selling charming keepsakes like keychains, traditional Vietnamese costumes, and other handmade items — all at very affordable prices. I even got myself a mini coconut-leaf fan for just 40,000 VND

Visiting Tra Su Cajuput Forest in An Giang was an unforgettable experience that brought you closer to the peaceful beauty of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. This ecotourism destination is a perfect escape from the busy city life, offering a refreshing connection with nature and wildlife. You will floated through the green canals on a small boat, you was surrounded by a stunning carpet of water lilies and duckweed, with tall cajuput trees forming a natural canopy overhead. The sound of birds and the cool breeze made the journey feel magical. It was fascinating to see so many species of birds and other animals living freely in this natural sanctuary. It was especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset when the soft golden light reflected on the water.

History Museums
Kiên Giang Museum is housed in a beautiful and ancient building in Rach Gia city, featuring traditional oriental architecture with a French villa exterior and a traditional Vietnamese interior. While some visitors found the exhibits to be more focused on war history than cultural development, others appreciated the museum's displays showcasing the town's historical heroic revolution over time.
I didn’t expect such a rich collection of history and culture. The museum tells stories of Khmer, Chinese, and Vietnamese influences. The artifacts are fascinating. I’d recommend my friends to stop by for cultural insights when exploring Kien Giang.
Hien N — Google review
A decrepit colonial building serves as a museum. The museum itself could benefit from a good cleanup. Still, it remains a charming place with a small collection of Oc-Eo artefacts and a focus on Nguyen Trung Truc against the French in the 19th century and the Vietnamese soldiers during the American war. There is the skeleton of a whale in a shed on the compound. Free entrance.

The square has been carefully designed and well-invested in, making it an absolutely beautiful place to visit. Every detail, from the layout to the landscaping, has been thoughtfully arranged, creating a spacious and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great spot for both locals and tourists to gather, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. One of the most stunning features of this square is its breathtaking view of the sea. Standing here, you can admire the vast ocean stretching out to the horizon, creating a sense of peace and openness. The best time to be here is undoubtedly during sunset. As the sun slowly descends, it casts a golden glow over the water, reflecting shimmering colors across the waves. The sight of the sun setting directly over the sea is truly mesmerizing, creating a picture-perfect moment that feels almost surreal. Whether you’re taking a leisurely walk, sitting and enjoying the fresh sea breeze, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature, this square offers an unforgettable experience. It’s not just a place to visit—it’s a place to pause, appreciate, and be captivated by the natural beauty surrounding it.

That boats here are actually on time and tbh that's all you really need for transport stuff like this. There's no covered/inside sitting area so you best hope the weather/Sun position is fortuitous. The food here is alright. Most people avoid them and just get something on the way, for good reason. The officiers here are decent poor at getting people in orderly lines but tbh Viet's don't understand single file, so I can't blame them too much.

Beautiful island, in here you don’t need to care about the rental bikes. There are always many people who do have this service at the habour, but you should be becareful about your helmets cause bike can not be stolen here but helmets. There are many seafood restaurant near the the habour so you can freely pick one. Hotel and Homestay are not too many here, just have several choices. The beach have many traveller when I come, it’s not a really good place for ppl who want to explore the nature. You guy can ask the person who work for the restaurant, hotel reception about the diving tour to see the coral.

This is the biggest port in Kien Giang province where you can go to Phu Quoc island, Nam Du island and Hon Son island
Hiếu H — Google review
Late departure meant an extra 20+ minutes waiting in the hot crowd of people at the gate followed by a disorganized shoving crush to have tickets checked and get on. There's no real space for luggage storage so people cram it in the walkways as they can. Main compartment hot, smelly and stuffy. Very bad turbulence on the way had a lot of people throwing up (the staff went down the aisle handing out barf bags at the start of the trip so I suspect this is pretty common). The snack bar just has a small and poor selection of soda and other canned beverages. Toilets dump directly into the ocean. Overall, one of the worst transit experiences I've had in the world.
Jane R — Google review
You can buy tickets to Phu Quoc island here either with Phu Quoc Express or Superdong. We bought tickets online and the friendly lady working told us which pier to go to. Would have loved more fan or a/c in the waiting room though. The boat leaves on time and the journey will take around 2.5 hours. Ours was really crowded and noisy.

Nhà cổ Huỳnh Thuỷ Lê

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nhà cổ Huỳnh Thủy Lê is a captivating 1895 house located on the riverfront, once home to Huynh Thuy Le, known for his affair with Marguerite Duras. The Sino-French design features exquisite interior woodwork, mother-of-pearl inlaid doors, heavy wooden furniture, and original French floor tiles. This hidden gem in Sa Dec offers a unique blend of Vietnamese, French, and Chinese architecture.
I was lucky to visit the house as a Marguerite Duras fan. They had an English speaking guide, offered tea and even had live music. The house is beautiful. Entrance fee was 40 000 VND. Enchanting atmosphere. A dream come true, thank you!

The home (1895) of Huynh Thuy Le who inspired the best selling Marguerite Duras novel The Lover faces the Mekong in Sa Dec, Vietnam. The interior features intricate woodwork and mother of pearl inlays. The "Lovers House" has a large cult following stemming from the 1992 soft porn movie starring Jane March.

Historical place, signature for French Colonial in the Mekong Delta. Problem is not much artifact is exhibited here, also not boat dock that was shown in the famous film l'amant. Tour giude is very warmly that is good point there.

Couldn’t resist and not visit this place if you’re in Sa Dec, the famous movie The Lover. It might have seen better days, but still a good place to put in some time and explore the place for an hour. Had a Viet tour guide that really explain this house in depth and what happened to the occupants
Minh L — Google review
visit this place on a sunday morning. recommend you to contact the host before coming so that they can be prepared for your best experience. if you come in small group and didnt place a reservation, may have to overheard a bigger group because we did the same. 40k/pax including a tour guide, lotus tea and candied ginger. around 9:30am to 3pm is peak hours may need a little wait. the house is known for its unique mixture of viet, french and chinese architecture but mainly thru the movie 'the lover'. besides things related to the movie, tourist will see a view of the chinese-vietnamese culture here. also the vọng cổ performance 🙌🏼 we were really lucky to have a chat with chú xưởng, he was so welcoming and support us. cảm ơn chú! fyi: they do accept booking for staying in their 2 bedrooms for 500k/night. for more info, pls contact the management board.

This place is just a tourist scam. I don't understand how people wrote good comments about this "place". At the entrance you pay 40,000 dong. Yes, you heard right. I have never paid such an amount to enter a small museum, but I agreed. It's a very (very) small house, I will say not much to see, only one floor. After 30 seconds, I realized there was nothing more to see. I turned to one of the workers there, and said to him: That's it ? is this the house Two and a half rooms ?! He obviously didn't like the question and made an annoyed face at me. Save your money and time, simply a waste of time. This is the kind of place where entry should be free ! 40,000vnd ?? Lol a total SCAM. One minute tour, 3 photos, and you're done there...
Roy — Google review
The house, a French colonial villa overlooking the Mekong River, embodies the complex intersections of wealth, culture, and colonial history. Duras described it as a space of both beauty and hardship. It was here that her family struggled with poverty and isolation after the death of her father, while her mother invested their meager savings in an ill-fated land reclamation project. Duras's reflections on the house often reveal the deep emotional imprints of her upbringing. She portrayed it as a place of contradictions: a symbol of fading colonial grandeur yet marked by decay, loss, and the weight of her family's struggles. It was also in Sa Đéc that Duras had her controversial and defining relationship with a wealthy Chinese lover, a narrative central to The Lover. Today, the house has been preserved as a museum, allowing visitors to step into the world that shaped Duras's literary voice. It offers a poignant insight into the life of a young girl navigating love, identity, and colonial complexities, making it a compelling site for fans of her work and history enthusiasts alike.

Awesome market in downtown Sa Dec with typical food and textile options. Food is super fresh!
Glenn J — Google review
Our first stop was at the market in Sa Dec. If Marco Polo would have known it, or at least something like it. He would have wandered between the stalls, where the air was thick with spices, the sharp tang of fish, and the earthy aroma of fresh-cut herbs. Here, trade was not just barter; it was life. The vendors called out, their voices loud and rough, bargaining with the ease of centuries. Stacks of bananas leaned precariously next to pyramids of dragon fruit. Buckets of writhing eels shimmered in the sunlight. Poultry, bound but alive, clucked faintly in resignation. Marco would have marveled at the silk scarves dyed in vibrant hues, the silver trinkets worked by careful hands, the sacks of rice that seemed endless. He might have paused at the noodle stand, watching the vendor deftly toss ingredients into boiling broth, the scent rising like a promise. It wasn’t a place to linger, but to move, to absorb. He’d have seen the faces—lines carved deep from sun and struggle—and wondered at their stories. Sa Dec wasn’t just a market; it was the pulse of the river, the heartbeat of the people. Marco would have recognized it, not as foreign, but as something familiar in its vitality. It was trade, adventure, survival. It was the world he sought.

Located about 6 kilometers from downtown Can Tho, Binh Thuy ancient house is a privately owned residence that was constructed in 1870 by the Duong family and is currently managed by the eighth generation. This French-style house, situated on Bui Huu Nghia street in Binh Thuy ward, features five small rooms and two roofs, showcasing French colonial architecture.
The main house and garden are so beautiful. Another parts are not so good design and taking care so it’s look a little bit like a mess. Ticket price is 30000 vnđ for a person
TD G — Google review
Binh Thuy Ancient House is a charming example of French colonial architecture, making it a worthwhile visit if you’re interested in historical homes and design. We stopped by during some free time between other sightseeing spots. While it’s not a top priority compared to other attractions, it’s still a pleasant place to explore, especially if you want to relax in the garden and take in the ambiance. One downside is the lack of English information or explanations on-site, so you’ll either need to do some research beforehand or consider joining a guided tour to fully appreciate the history and significance of the house.
Sam S — Google review
Not really worth a visit. An old house, not a museum. A few tables and chairs and some photos of the family. No English language descriptions to help you understand what you’re looking at. Owner collected the money but offered no information. Next door is a painter selling his work. Lowest prices seem to be US$50 for the small paintings. Don’t think he sells many.
Anthony B — Google review
Nice place to see local house and culture. Entry 30k VND, I think it's possible to pay by card. Owner was nice despite what I red in the comments. Pay attention to opening hours, since they close during lunch time.

If you have time to spare We went with a guide that could explain a bit more around the area, history and the overall building and family. Interesting, but unless we had it as a part of our pre-planned tour, I would not bother to visit. Unfortunately. Nothing wrong, just nothing too particular.

Interesting house with cultural significance. It’s free to look around and doesn’t forget to take your shoes off!

We only stayed for about 10 mins. In all honesty we found it quite boring and thought there would be more to it. Don’t feel like you will be missing out if you don’t go it’s not very memorable compared to other attractions.

Cai Be Market is a lively floating wholesale market situated on the Mekhong River, at the meeting point of Tien Giang, Ben Tre, and Vinh Long provinces. It's renowned for its cultural significance and serves as a major trading center in the Southwest region. Each morning, boats from nearby districts gather here to sell an array of goods including fresh produce, flowers, household items, and more.
I would suggest going early early. We went around noon. As you can see we were able to rent a whole boat for just the two of us and rent it cheaply. But most the boats were closed down For nap time.

There was nothing of a floating market. NOTHING, nothing nothing. What a pity! We’re there at 4:30 am to 7 am and there was NOTHING. Some very busy lady wanted to sell tickets … for what? Apparently, previous to the pandemic, there was a big floating market.

Doesn’t exist no more due to Covid but it’s definitely worth going on a tour through the delta BUT: if you book a tour make it more than clear that you don’t travel around the world for souvenir shops and that you want to see the river and channels, nothing more. In the Cai Be zone, we got showed candy manufactures and other stuff what basically serves to navigate you through products. They insist for tips even though you didn’t ask nor booked for a souvenir shop tour. The river, channels and the local market where the floating market used to be are worth a visit.

Nothing much special to see if you are from Asia. The floating market is merely boats selling food stuff and fruits to tourists. The journey is too far from HCM city and not worth the time. Spent at least two hours plus on road to reach Mekong river.

Cai Be Floating Market is situated in the area where the Tien River meets the 3 provinces, Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Ben Tre. From Ho Chi Minh City, it will take you roughly 2 hours to travel by car to the wharf, followed by a one-hour boat ride. There are quite a few things you should keep in mind before visiting Cai Be Floating Market: - The boat rides will be somewhat rough and shaky, especially the traditional ones. Make sure you’re not a seasick type. - Put on enough sunscreens and insect repellant. Dress properly with light clothes, as it might get a bit cold early in the morning, and then very hot after 9 am. Bring along a hat. - Double check the price and stopping points before you hop on any boat. Don’t forget to take photos of a huge Catholic cathedral on the riverside, which will look best on photos taken from afar.

The hospitable hosts provide a range of activities, complimentary bikes, and delicious food. Accommodations are cozy with comfortable beds and large mosquito nets for a peaceful sleep.
Our family of 6 spent 3 nights and 4 days on Tân Phong Island with Mekong Rustic Cai Be. It was a wonderful few days. Our guide Nhi was incredible — energetic, friendly, knowledgeable. The meals were outstanding. A great way to get a slice of life in the delta.

Our group had the most amazing stay at the Cai Be Mekong Rustic honestly! The accommodation is extremely clean and cozy and convenient with the en-suite bathroom. The family was extremely friendly and accommodating (especially Win! Such a cute, fun kid!) and all the food we ate was so delicious! The property is beautiful and in such a great location. Loved how isolated it is. We had the greatest time with Nhi, she is a fantastic guide and the sweetest person. We loved everything we did (boat tour, fishing, sampam boat, rice factory, local gardens, biking around) and she spoke great English so it made it super easy! There was also a ton of great communication with Hannah through email leading up to the trip and setting up the two day tour with Nhi and getting everything planned before (including transportation to and from HCMC) so we didn’t have to worry about anything for the entire stay! Highly, highly recommend!!

Wonderful people, very welcoming. They offer great activities, free bikes and amazing food. I totally love this place and the nice family living there. They are really good hosts and great cooks. The rooms are cozy and the beds are really comfortable. They have big mosquito nets to guarantee a good sleep, but better bring some earplugs, as the birds, crickets and frogs as well as their chickens can sometimes produce some noise. But this also creates a great atmosphere and a perfect jungle feeling. I recommend to book one of the tours (look in the website), I joined a group and went fishing and it was an amazing experience. The family doesn't speak English but still conversation is always possible somehow. Also a tour guide comes to the Mekong Rustic every day and can help you whenever you have questions. It was absolutely worth the stay, even after 4 days I didn't get bored and it was a great adventure for me to see the local culture. Thanks for having me!

I absolutely loved this place. The gardens and location are so beautiful. The family who runs this place is so sweet and welcoming and we're more than happy to show us around. The cabin we stayed in had a comfortable bed and I was surprised that there weren't many mosquitos. They also had consistent and good WiFi. I definitely would recommend this place if you're staying in the mee Kong area.

The family home on Tân Phong island is a real homestay. It's not a hotel or a guesthouse, we ate with the family and slept in a room inside their house. The dinners were superb. All members of the family, the dad Chú, the mum Cô and the son and daughter Duy and My were gentle, real people. It's so pleasant to take a break from the tourism industry shysters with some human beings. We had a lot of fun using bikes to ride around the island, and we met a local man who let us use his boat on the river. In Cái Bè town we found an old French administration building. We had no idea it was there from any guidebook, it's just something you'll have to discover for yourself. You'll find it if you take the road that runs north-south parallel to Caí Bè town's west bank ;)

Vườn Ca Cao Mười Cương

Farm household tour
Sights & Landmarks
Farms
Nestled on the outskirts of Can Tho, Vườn Ca Cao Mười Cương is a charming organic cacao farm that offers an immersive experience for chocolate lovers. Spanning over 10,000 square meters and home to around 2,000 cacao trees, this delightful spot invites visitors to stroll through lush greenery while learning about the fascinating journey from bean to bar. The owner, fluent in English and brimming with enthusiasm, guides guests through the entire chocolate-making process.
We had a wonderful tour through the cocoa farm. Mr. Bean showed us around the farm, told us the history of how he became a cocoa farmer and showed us the different steps of making chocolate. We bought a box of the chocolate candy after the tasting, highly recommend!
Sindalax — Google review
This cocoa garden is doing a great job in tourism. The owner speaks English, so he can introduce his products and explain how he grows cocoa trees. I really enjoyed my time here—walking around the garden, listening to his story, and learning how cocoa is made. They also offer cocoa-based alcohol, which is quite interesting to try.
Trân — Google review
A peaceful and authentic place to visit in Can Tho. The garden is green and relaxing, and the owner explains the cacao-growing and chocolate-making process in a friendly and easy-to-understand way. You can taste pure cacao, chocolate, cacao wine and tea. all handmade and very unique. It’s simple, local and not touristy, which makes the experience even more special. Highly recommended if you love nature, chocolate and local culture.
Jenny — Google review
What a great experience! We just showed up without a tour guide and the owner of the farm took us through each step of the chocolate making process and explained the history of the farm. We got to taste the chocolate at the end, which was amazing.
Julia — Google review
(July 2023) We visited back in July and we probably paid around 70-80k VND per person. I don’t understand how others can say the money isn’t worth it tbh, it was one of my favourite experiences in Vietnam, mostly because Mr. Bean himself was so well-informed and passionate about his craft and things he has achieved. We later realised he was one of “the few” people in Vietnam who spoke English well 🙃 We got to see different stages of cocoa beans and cocoa making process, we could stroll around the farm and afterwards we got to taste homemade chocolate and cocoa drinks as well (my personal favourite was the hot cocoa). We also tried an “experimental” cider made from cocoa beans which tasted great, we regretted not having more cash with us as we definitely would have bought some products to support the cocoa farm 💕
Michaela N — Google review
The owner gave us a tour. He was really enthusiastic to present us the way he makes chocolate by hand. One tip: don't come with a guide, just drive and show up there, the owner is very friendly and will give you a tour with a smile :)
Antoine — Google review
Very nice, small-scale organic cacao farm. The owner speaks good English. You can take a walk through the cacao trees and after that he can show you the full process of how he makes chocolate from cacao beans. We also got to taste the products from every stage. Very interesting and delicious! Warmly recommended. It's possible to buy chocolate and other cacao products directly from the farm. You can contact the owner by Messenger.
Anne R — Google review
Thank you Mr Bean! His farm is truely special. He can give an English spoken tour explaining the process of hand harvesting + preparing the cacao beans. For permiculture lovers this is a must visit! Or if you love cacao nibs ;)

Mekong Ecolodge is a unique and lovely accommodation in the Mekong Delta, offering a charming rustic experience for those looking to connect with nature. The lodge boasts a well-maintained garden and an exceptionally friendly staff. Guests can enjoy delicious food, particularly suitable for vegan diets, and take part in activities such as cooking classes and biking tours around the villages. Well worth to visit! Fantastic staff, very clean, tasty food, wonderful day trips, easy to get there by Grab. Hue, the lady in charge will assist you with everything you need. Don't miss out on this place!

This is a lovely ecolodge in the Mekong Delta. The garden is gorgeous and the staff exceedingly friendly. The food we received was delicious and excellent for our vegan diets, more so than even our hotel in Saigon. But a word of caution if you’re trying to decide whether to make the trip here: it’s rustic. We spent one night here and definitely felt in touch with nature. It’s charming for a short period of time if you’re used to the city, but don’t expect a luxury tourist experience. There is minimal privacy because the rooms are open air (luckily we were the only ones here at the time, you can see into other guest’s rooms). There is an AC unit, but obviously the open windows thing hinders its effectiveness (it was, however, pleasant when we visited in October). The bathroom is also outdoors and there are lots of critters around. And somehow on this isolated island the neighbors were doing karaoke all day—didn’t expect that one. I don’t say these things to say you shouldn’t visit, just to prepare yourself for what the experience will be like. We overall enjoyed our stay.

After a beautiful cycling tour around the island we came here to enjoy the hospitability and the delicious food which was offered to us. Although the size of the meal was way too generous for two people, we had a wonderful time and will return home with a smile and lovely memories.

We had a great time in Mekong Ecolodge. We stayed here for two night . There were bicycle tours around the island with the visit of several local houses and cooking class of traditional food, we went also bicycling in Cai Be and visit the ancient house and floating market. It is a very peaceful, friendly and romantic place where you have time to relax and explore the surroundings, enjoy tropical fruit, experience local lifestyle.

Mekong Ecolodge is located on a separate island in Mekong delta with stunning view to the great river and thousands of flowers surrounding. The complex focuses on sustainable tourism and environment concerns. They also help local people on this island by bringing extra income to families and not to mention Vietnamese Delicious prepared by lovely Mekong delta people with affordable price. I still remembered I paid 50 $ for two of us and received 1 bungalow with a double bedroom plus air-condition surrounded by flowers and others fruit trees, two meals and free bycicle

This is a great place to relax! The food is great and the staff are lovely. They do a cooking course and have bikes and the river is right next to it. Amazing! They put up mosquito nets and you can visit a floating market nearby.

Quang Duc Pagoda is a prominent Buddhist temple located on Mau Than Street in Xuan Khan, known as the longest street in the Mekong Delta. The pagoda, one of the largest active Buddhist temples, features ornate architecture and houses a serene statue of Buddha surrounded by intricate wooden doors. Despite undergoing renovations in 2012, it still exudes its rich historical significance. Visitors can experience the tranquility and harmony within the temple grounds, where monks continue to reside.

Chua Quang Duc is one of many small pagodas within Can Tho city. It is unassuming from the outside, but is quite interesting once you enter the complex and building. However, it is not much different from all the other pagodas, with similar statues, decorated prayer altars and artworks. The courtyard has a lovely Quang Yin statue and altar along with a white marble Laughing Buddha all on display. If you're in the area and looking at visiting a pagoda without going outside of Can Tho city, this is a typical example of one and is mildly interesting, but there are better ones around.

The Museum of Tarot - Bảo Tàng Tarot is currently closed for renovations, but visitors have been given personalized tours by Dr. Ngo, who has an extensive knowledge of tarot's history and its connections with art and religions over the last 200 years. The museum houses a vast collection of tarot cards from around the world, spanning from the mid-18th century to today. The owner, Dr.
This is an extensive collection with fascinating pieces. It’s a very tiny place on 3 floors (Vietnam-style) with interesting things in every corner. Owners were very nice. The attached coffee shop was having renovations done, but they let us in anyway.

NOT A MUSEUM!!! The word "museum" is completely misleading in this case. It is basically just a coffee shop with a private collection on the second floor, owned by an individual. You must contact the owner before visiting, and the entrance fee is 90,000 VND. Not worth a visit. Do not be fooled by the 5-star reviews—people were reportedly asked to leave a 5-star rating in exchange for free entrance. A WASTE OF TIME.
NGUYEN Q — Google review
Fun visit to Tarot Museum. So much to see and take in during our tour of several floors. Quite a collection!

It is an absolute delight to listen to the owner of the museum, who personally does a very informative tour of the whole place. You can clearly see that he is passionate about what he is talking about. The collection of Tarot cards (as well as other cards, stones, and even amulets) is astonishing and ever-growing. This is truly a hidden gem of Can Tho.

Great if your vaguely interested in Tarot. Many cards, pictures, book from many countries. Lot of stones for the stoned enthusiast (lapidary). Tea & coffee available
Phil L — Google review
Note that the photo from Trip Advisor does not match the front of this museum. I tried to contact someone via the website months in advance and received no reply. Showed up on a Thursday at 1 PM and paid entry fee (after having to get attendant's attention who was busy texting / playing games on his phone), took off shoes and ascended stairs. Displays full of items but unmarked. Skipped the recorded commentary based on poor reviews. Wifii not working. Air was stuffy--ceiling fans were turned off for some reason. Not sure if the cafe was running--no evidence of food/drink service for visitors and none offered. Disappointed that the lithotherapy objects were removed from the collection. As a Viet Kieu who is an avid tarot person, I found myself a bit let down. Three stars for a cool collection of items that photographed well but it all felt a bit neglected and randomly displayed--bummed that they did not offer Vietnamese tarot decks for sale.

Munirensay Khmer Buddhist Temple, originally constructed in the 1940s to cater to Can Thos Khmer community, showcases typical Khmer Buddhist pagoda architecture. While not as elaborate as other city temples, it offers a charming experience with monks relaxing in the doorways and vibrant banners adorning the surroundings. Visitors are greeted by friendly domesticated animals and can take a break on cement benches inside the gate.
This Khmer pagoda sits right on Can Tho’s main street, and I’m a big fan of its unique architecture. In the evening, there’s a food stall inside selling bánh bột chiên and dessert—so tasty! Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Chùa Ông, also known as the Guang Zhao Assembly Hall, is a beautifully adorned Chinese Taoist temple that was constructed in the late 19th century by Cantonese immigrants. Located facing the Can Tho River, this temple is housed within the Guangzhou Assembly Hall and features large incense coils that burn continuously, filling its interior with fragrant smoke. The temple was originally built to honor Kuang Kung, a deity representing various virtues.
Also known as Ong Temple, a beautiful place is worship, calm and serene. This remarkable historical site, with its enduring Chinese architecture, is a hidden gem in the heart of Can Tho. A unique and well-preserved Chinese architectural style, The colorful gateway, intricate carvings, and traditional motifs showcased the rich cultural heritage of this place. A blend of Chinese and Vietnamese architectural influences, which added to its charm. I highly recommend a visit for anyone seeking a serene and culturally enriching experience. It's a place where history and spirituality come together, creating a truly memorable atmosphere. The shrine is called “Guang Zhao Assembly Hall” built in the late 1800’s by Cantonese immigrants from mainly Guang Zhou and Zhao Qing cities, Guang Dong, China. The shrine is dedicated to Taoist polytheism which Mazu, Jade emperor, and Guan Yu are three of them. The building is petite but nicely decorated with carved details taken from Chinese mythology (e.g., eight immortals crossing the sea). The shrine is extremely busy on full moon festivals and new year days.

Chợ đêm Ninh Kiều

Night market
Shopping
Flea & Street Markets
a street selection of food from a shop and then they cook it over coals. The fish selection of prawn and squid was good but lightly cooked. I couldn’t do more than one scallop as just too fishy for me. The meat was very good – the sausage and the beef wrapped prawns. Also had a Vietnamese pizza on way home which is pork and stuff and some chille sauce in a hard rice cake cooked on charcoal. Top food. Get involved.
Cas A — Google review
Pretty small night market with one small street for food and one small street for clothing / random stuff. Had a fun time trying out different food stalls over two nights, many of which are doused in way much sauces. Personally quite enjoyed the sticky rice with chicken (xoi ga) and the grilled sausages stall shown in my pics. The "Vietnamese tacos" (bánh tráng nướng) was also interesting but it's basically grilled rice paper with random fillings. The Vietnamese rice paper"salad" (Bánh Tráng Trộn), comprising of shredded rice paper strips tossed with mango, random leaves and sauces , was refreshing and something new to me.

Bến Ninh Kiều is the vibrant, beating heart of beautiful Cần Thơ. It's a melting pot of tourists from every parts of the world and locals like our family. You can practically find any kind of foods you're craving for from casual Mexican foods to the fine dining of French cuisine, and of course all the local favorite dishes. Our family like to take a stroll along the river walk and snack along the way. Be sure to take some pictures at night on the Lover's Bridge and try out some of the awesome restaurants on the otherside.

My evening spent at Chợ đêm Ninh Kiều, the night market in Ninh Kiều, was a delightful experience filled with vibrant sights, tempting aromas, and lively energy. As I strolled through the bustling market, I was immediately captivated by the colorful array of stalls selling everything from local handicrafts and souvenirs to street food delicacies. The market was a feast for the senses, with the tantalizing scent of grilled meats, aromatic spices, and freshly cooked seafood wafting through the air. I couldn't resist sampling a variety of street food delights, from crispy banh mi sandwiches and savory pho noodle soup to succulent grilled skewers and sweet treats like coconut pancakes. The atmosphere was electric, with live music performances adding to the festive ambiance. I found myself immersed in the lively energy of the crowd, browsing through the stalls, sampling different foods, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Throughout my time at Chợ đêm Ninh Kiều, I was struck by the warmth and friendliness of the local vendors, who greeted me with genuine smiles and hospitality. Whether I was bargaining for souvenirs or asking about the ingredients in a particular dish, they were always eager to engage in conversation and share their culture with me. In conclusion, my experience at Chợ đêm Ninh Kiều was truly memorable. It's a must-visit destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and culinary delights of the Mekong Delta region. From the bustling atmosphere to the delicious street food, every moment spent at the night market was a true delight.

Very touristy. Most prices are inflated for tourists. That said, there are a lot of locals, but the locals mostly pull up on motorbikes. It is a nice area to walk around at night to look at stuff, but I wasn't impressed with the food. I did like the 'vietnamese pizza' which is grilled rice paper with a bunch of stuff (including a bit of meat and a quail egg- so not vegetarian) squirted with mayo and "hot sauce" (not hot at all, I promise) and folded over like a taco. 10,000. The sweet potato fries were good. 15,000, and he has a menu in English.

The night market is smaller than I expected but the food here is awesome and I found some food that were new to me. My favourite is the Vietnamese pizza which is made with Vietnamese rice paper, very crispy outside and packed with savoury ingredients inside. Do ask for the price first before ordering as it is often not shown at the store.
