Sights & Landmarks
The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, also known as Sameba, is a significant religious complex in the heart of Tbilisi. This landmark Georgian Orthodox cathedral, along with its bell tower, monastery, and seminary, was designed by architect Archil Mindiashvili and constructed between 1995 and 2004. Situated on Mount Ilia overlooking the Kura River, it stands at an impressive height of nearly 105.
What a beautiful architecture!! Absolutely stunning!! It’s definitely a must visit. It’s grand and impressive, and the inside feels very peaceful and spiritual. The views from the cathedral are beautiful as well, especially if you go in the evening. It’s a place where you can just sit quietly and enjoy the beauty of this place. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the city.

If you’re seeking a calm and quiet retreat in Tbilisi, the Holy Trinity Cathedral is a sanctuary of peace and splendor. Perched atop Elia Hill, this architectural marvel overlooks the city and the Kura River, offering breathtaking views and a sense of spiritual serenity. As dusk settles, the cathedral glows in the soft amber light, creating a magical atmosphere. The quiet surroundings and gentle breeze make it the perfect time for reflection, photography, or simply soaking in the beauty. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful moment, Holy Trinity Cathedral is a must visit. It’s not just a church it’s a symbol of Georgian unity and spiritual revival 🤗
Sreejith — Google review
This is the main cathedral in the city, and it's impossible not to be impressed by its size. The architecture is beautiful and very imposing, dominating the Tbilisi skyline. As it is a relatively recent construction, it blends the traditional style of Georgian churches with a modern, grandiose scale. The exterior is definitely the high point. The surrounding gardens are very beautiful and well-maintained, perfect for a peaceful walk and for taking great photos of the facade. Inside, it is huge, but honestly, I didn't find it as beautiful as the outside. The decoration is simpler than one might expect for a cathedral of this size. It's very much worth visiting, especially for the external view and the gardens. Women must cover their heads to enter. Admission is free.
Luana B — Google review
The cathedral was quite impressive and the inside was very detailed and elegant. It was quite interesting to learn that it only began construction in 1995 and was finished in 2004. We thought it was a centuries old church that was kept in great shape. Overall, definitely worth a visit, great for photos and views of the rest of the city as it rests on a hill. Takes a little bit to walk up the hill to get to the cathedral though.
Redpanda — Google review
“Beautiful, from the inside and outside” ✨ We walked to this place. When you arrive there it is breathtaking. Especially the enormous size of this cathedral is worth mentioning. Good to know is that you want to go inside you have to cover your shoulders and knees (both men and women). At the entrance you can grab a choir robe if you didn’t bring anything yourself. — Genuine Gems Overview — ⭐ Rating: 5/5 💰 Price Paid: Free 💎 A Genuine Gem? Yes

Incredible, breathtaking, I could list positive adjectives all day long. It's the most beautiful church I have seen in my life! I'm at a loss for words. You must experience it for yourself! I'd recommend getting a taxi to get here as there's quite a climb to get here.
Jonatan P — Google review
Definitely a must visit if you are in Tblisi. It's not very ornate from inside but grand from outside. You can also see it glowing from viewpoint near Mother of Georgia and infact all over Tblisi. We entered from one of the side entrances and found ample parking Entrance is free. Please be sure to cover your shoulders and knees inside the cathedral.
Bharathi M — Google review
Bad access, we came from the upper side through the mud. A very beautiful church, traces of work can still be seen around the church. There is peace and tranquility in the church, the smell of candle wax, people praying and thinking in silence, each in front of the icon of their saint. Divine and spiritual atmosphere. Beautiful view of the city in the peace of the olive garden. Definitely one of the most worthwhile places to visit in Tbilisi.

When in Tbilisi, don't miss the Mother of Georgia Tramway for an unforgettable experience. The cable car ride offers stunning panoramic views of the entire city and is a great way to capture some amazing photos. The smooth journey up to the Mother of Georgia statue and Narikala Fortress is definitely worth it, especially during sunset when you can enjoy both daylight and nighttime views. With clear skies adding to the beauty, this scenic delight is a must-visit in Tbilisi.
It seemed like a long lineup but it went quickly. If you tap your card or phone it's quicker than paying cash. Great views going up and from the top at $1.50 Canadian definitely worth doing. You can take the tram down, no lineup, or take the stairs down. Lots of interesting things to see on the walk down. Highly recommend 🇨🇦
Kari Q — Google review
Definitely worth it. don't need to buy your tickets in advance. Can just get in the queue and buy them ticket counter right before you get on the gondola. We weren't for sunset so it was a little bit crowded. We waited around 20 minutes but the line moved fast.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tbilisi Tramway Experience 🚠 The tramway ride was smooth, scenic, and totally worth it! It gives an amazing view of Tbilisi from above, especially during sunset — you can see the river, the old town, and the modern skyline all at once. The cabins are clean, safe, and the staff are helpful. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the city’s landscape without the long uphill walk. Definitely one of the best attractions in Tbilisi — highly recommended! 🇬🇪🙌

Cute cable car ride from the city center to the monumental statue of the Mother of Georgia. At the top there are lots of stands with souvenirs and a very talentad musician with an impressive international repertoire. A small cafe welcomes you with refreshments and BBQ. At the time of our visit there was no acces to the Botanical Garden or other atractions. Great views of the city from above.

A scenic and memorable way to explore Tbilisi! 🌄✨ The Mother of Georgia Tramway offers a unique and exciting experience, providing breathtaking panoramic views of Tbilisi, the Kura River, and the surrounding hills. It’s a convenient and fun way to reach the iconic Mother of Georgia statue (Kartlis Deda) while enjoying the city from above. The tramway is well-maintained, safe, and easy to use, with friendly staff assisting visitors. The ride gives you ample photo opportunities, capturing both the city’s historic architecture and the modern skyline. Reaching the Mother of Georgia statue via the tramway is much easier than climbing the hill, especially for tourists. At the top, the statue and viewpoint are impressive, offering a sense of Tbilisi’s history and culture, along with stunning cityscape views. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, the tramway provides a memorable and picturesque experience. For any tourist visiting Tbilisi, this tramway ride is a must-do — combining adventure, history, and some of the best views in the city! 🚡📸🌟

The Bridge of Peace is a modern pedestrian bridge in Tbilisi, Georgia, designed by Italian architects and French lighting designers. The bridge features an interactive LED light display system with 30,000 lights and 240 sensors that create mesmerizing patterns symbolizing human chemistry and peace.
✨ Morning at the Bridge of Peace ✨ Walking across this stunning glass-and-steel landmark in Tbilisi was such a surreal experience. In the calm of the morning, with soft light filtering through its arched design, I could really feel the beauty of how it connects the Old Town with modern Rike Park. It’s not just a bridge — it’s where tradition and modernity shake hands, and I was right there in the middle of it, soaking it all in. 🌿🌉

The Bridge of Peace is one of those places that looks beautiful from every angle. I stopped by for a walk and took a few photos because the light, the view, and the structure all felt so calming. It’s a lovely spot to pause, enjoy the river, and take in the atmosphere of the city — and a few goofy little dogs were enjoying the view just as much.
Moon N — Google review
The Bridge of Peace in the center of Tbilisi is not without controversy. Some people dislike it because they feel that it disrupts the harmony of the more classical architecture around it. I found that it actually integrates quite well with the river and the old and newer sections of the city. The bridge was designed and built in Italy and assembled in Tbilisi with lighting provided by French designers. Like it or not, it's a very memorable structure that's hard to ignore. Tourists and visitors love to visit it for pictures and memories.

Peace Bridge, Tbilisi The Peace Bridge is one of the must-see spots in Tbilisi. It’s best to visit early in the morning when it’s quiet and not crowded — perfect for a peaceful walk and great photos with fewer people around. At night, the bridge becomes even more magical when it lights up. You can also take a boat ride under it for beautiful reflections and a different view of the illuminated structure. Both times of day show a unique side of the bridge and the city.

İt is not only a bridge, is a social and meting centre at the same time. You can see people who sing a song and watch the river and view. Amazing architectural structure, it is impress me.

This is definitely a must-visit spot in Tbilisi! Located right in the heart of the city, the bridge offers stunning views both from afar and while walking across. Its modern, sleek design beautifully connects the city, and since it’s situated in Rike Park, you also get to enjoy a lovely stroll through greenery before stepping onto the bridge. At the entrance, there are these unique “falling trees” I’d never seen before, which make it even more special. Walking across is an experience in itself—you’ll find people offering bird photos, even a 360° video booth if you want to have some fun! On the other side, there are plenty of great restaurants to try. Overall, such a beautiful and lively spot that I’d highly recommend.

Sights & Landmarks
Narikala is a picturesque ancient fortress in Tbilisi, with origins dating back to the 4th century. The name Narikala is believed to have Persian or Mongolian roots, signifying its historical significance. Originally built by Persians and later expanded by Arabs, the fortress suffered damage from an earthquake in 1827 but was restored in 1996.
One of the best views in Tbilisi! Narikala Fortress is old and beautiful. You can see the whole city from the top. The walk is a little hard, but the view is 100% worth it. A peaceful place with history and great spots for photos. No entrance fee, max you need to wait up to 10 min for cable cars 🚠, but also you can reach there by walking 🚶‍♀️
Leyla G — Google review
I took the cable car all the way up, enjoying the beautiful view along the way. From the top, you can see all of Tbilisi — it’s absolutely breathtaking. On the way back, I decided to walk instead of taking the cable car. The map showed a path through the forest, surrounded by trees, but I ended up taking the car route cuz I was afraid will be lost in the middle of the trees . It felt like walking along a highway with no pedestrian lane, and it took me hours to get back to the city! Still, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience — the scenery was amazing, and I’m glad I did it.

We had a wonderful city tour of Tbilisi! We began in Old Tbilisi, starting at Metekhi, which offers a beautiful view of Meidan Square. Then we walked across the stunning Bridge of Peace connecting the old town to Rike Park. The Clock Tower was a charming stop — it’s amazing to see the little angel come out every hour to ring the bell. From there, we strolled along Shardeni Street — a must-visit spot for anyone coming to Georgia. We then took the cable car up to Narikala Fortress and continued to the iconic statue of Mother of Georgia. After that, we explored Abanotubani and its famous sulfur baths. Finally, we drove to Mtatsminda Park, the perfect place to relax and enjoy the fun atmosphere. The view of the city from there, especially near the TV Tower, is simply breathtaking. A truly memorable day in Tbilisi!

I think panoramic view of old Tbilisi much better from here than Mtazminda but this is the longest restoration project I've ever seen. I'm 55 years old, and it's been going on for about that long amazing)))

1. 🏰 Old soul of Tbilisi - Narikala is one of the oldest landmarks in the city, watching over Tbilisi since the 4th century. You feel history in every stone. 2. 🌄 Best views in town - From the top, you get a full panorama of the city, the river, and the rooftops. Sunset here is unforgettable. 3. 🚶‍♂️ Short hike, big reward - You can walk up from the Old town . The path is steep but worth it. 4. 📸 Photo heaven - Every angle offers a great shot: fortress walls, city views, and the giant Mother of Georgia statue nearby. 5. 🧘‍♀️ Peaceful vibe - Even with tourists around, it feels calm. Great spot to sit, breathe, and take in the view. 6. 🕍 Church inside - There’s a small church inside the fortress with beautiful frescoes. Respectful dress recommended. 7. 🧗‍♀️ Watch your step - Some parts are uneven or slippery. Wear good shoes and be careful, especially with kids. 8. 🕰️ No tickets, always open - It’s free to visit and open all day. Early morning or late afternoon is best. 9. 🍃 Nature meets history - Wildflowers, birds, and old stones mix together. A perfect blend of nature and culture. 10. 💡 Local tip - Bring water, wear sunscreen, and take your time. It’s not just a fortress - it’s a feeling.

Since the 4th century, every trade deal struck, prayer uttered and chai order hollered on the streets of Old Tiflis has had Narikala as its backdrop. One of the oldest surviving structures in the Georgian capital, the fortress has gone through many iterations (and name changes) over the years. In the Tbilisi of today – a city known for its distinctive and quirky architecture – Narikala is still one of the most enduring, evocative features of the skyline. Narikala Fortress in Tbilisi. Once Tbilisi’s first military defence, today Narikala is little more than a vantage point for panoramic city views. Aside from walking the fortress walls, other things to do on Narikala Hill include visiting the Mother of Georgia statue, Kartlis Deda (another Tbilisi icon), and hiking or walking in the National Botanical Garden of Georgia. This can all be done as part of the Narikala Tourist Trail, a marked 1.5km walking path along the top of the ridge. This quick guide to visiting Narikala runs through everything you need to plan a visit, including opening hours, costs, the best time to visit for photography, food options, and other activities nearby.

Restaurant
Perched atop Mount Mtatsminda in Tbilisi, the renowned Funicular restaurant offers a stunning and elegant dining experience. With modern decor and a spacious terrace, it provides a perfect setting for enjoying Georgian and oriental cuisine, including vegetarian and meat dishes. The menu features famous dishes like steak, fried lamb, cheese pies, and oysters. This 4-star establishment is equipped with electronic payment options, disabled-friendly facilities, free parking, and internet access.
We had an amazing evening at Funicular! We came for a birthday and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, going above and beyond to make the evening special. They brought out a cake and card that I delivered prior and gave us a wonderful table, thank you to Anastasia for this! The menu has plenty of options but is focused and not overwhelming in anyway, they are specialised in the dishes they offer. Presentation is that of a Michelin star restaurant and ingredient quality is amazing. A restaurant like this in Western Europe would easily cost €500+, especially somewhere like Paris or London. The feel is very elegant and classy, yet very much affordable for most people in comparison to similar restaurants in Western Europe. Food, views, ambience and service were all spectacular - I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a special occasion if you want an evening to remember!
Kai J — Google review
Hard to rate but let me explain. For our last evening in the city we decided to experience this unique location and restaurant with high expectations. The view is indeed amazing and the interior looks stunning yet a bit old fashioned. All fine, good menu and selection of wines. But: Eggplant starter was not cooked till tender and rather raw and odd to eat/cut. Vegetarian platter surprised positively. Salmon steak was overcooked and pea mash rather unseasoned. Also the pork ribs were a shame. Way more bone than any meat and felt like they were cooked like 2-3 hours ago, set aside and waited until someone ordered. Good rips are in my opinion when you can easily pull the bone but here not even tissues were served if you were to eat by hands (not done). Potates got all the seasoning and were cold and way to seasoned. Also there was a big party in the last room next to main room but the music was so loud, that you could barely hear each other. Other guests with gala dresses and suits were also surprised negatively and for us this killed the whole vibe. We did not order dessert or further wine and really looked forward to leaving. Normally I am not that harsh in rating but for an upscale unique spot in the heart of Georgia with this view and prices on the higher end this was not acceptable. Next time better skip on restaurant and experience the fun park nearby or the view alone.
Oliver O — Google review
I booked a table at the restaurant in advance to celebrate birthday with a beautiful view of the city. I even mentioned birthday date in the reservation. Did I receive any compliment or at least a couple of nice words of congratulations? – No! Did I get the promised panoramic view? – No, we were seated at the other end of the hall, almost by the wall (they told us it was also a window – but that “view” was only of overturned chairs in the backyard). The prices are way too high. We ordered exactly the same bottle of wine in a very good restaurant in the city for 32 GEL, while here it cost 90. I’m willing to pay for service, view, and atmosphere – but sitting in the corner without a view and drinking wine priced 3x higher was a terrible experience.

The Funicular Restaurant is hands down one of the most iconic dining spots in all of Tbilisi — and for good reason. From the moment you step inside, you're hit with this perfect blend of elegance, history, and insane views. Whether you're here for a romantic dinner, a family meal, or just treating yourself (because why not?), this place makes every visit feel special. Let’s talk food: absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and packed with flavor — from classic Georgian dishes like khinkali and khachapuri to more refined mains and desserts. The service was just as good — attentive but not overbearing, with staff who know the menu and make great recommendations. But the real flex here? The view. The restaurant sits high on Mtatsminda, and the massive windows give you a front-row seat to the Tbilisi skyline. If you time it around sunset or stay until the city lights come on, it’s honestly breathtaking. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricier side for Tbilisi, but 100% worth it for the full experience. Great food, classy atmosphere, and the best view in town — 5 stars, no doubt.

This is truly a must-see place in Tbilisi. The view is breathtaking, and the food is beyond words—and let me tell you why. My friend, who is Georgian herself and knows all the secrets of authentic Georgian cuisine, said this spot captures it all. Every dish we tried was unforgettable. The cheese in the khachapuri was rich and flavorful—truly something special. We had lamb kebabs, cheese khachapuri, donuts, and coffee. I genuinely can’t pick a favorite because everything was just incredible. The atmosphere was serene, the air felt fresh and pure, and the service was something I haven’t experienced anywhere else. I believe there were about five of us at the table, and at least seven attentive waiters constantly checking in and making sure everything was perfect. This was an amazing experience from start to finish. If you want to taste the soul of Georgia and enjoy it with stunning views and top-tier service, this is the place to go.
Evguenia K — Google review
Contrary to my previous negative experience, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. The food and service were both delicious. I particularly loved the pork with cranberry sauce and the potatoes. The cheese table was also a highlight, with an array of delectable cheeses. But what truly set this place apart were the views and the decor. The marble everywhere and high ceilings created a luxurious and open atmosphere, reminiscent of the 1950s. It’s an amazing place, highly recommended for its stunning views and exceptional dining experience.

Located approximately 40 km north of Tbilisi along the Georgian Military Highway, this reservoir offers a serene and picturesque escape from the city. Constructed in the 1980s, the Zhinvali Dam spans the Aragvi River, creating a reservoir that not only serves as a vital water source for Tbilisi but also adds to the region's natural beauty. The reservoir's vibrant turquoise waters contrast beautifully with the surrounding lush green hills and towering mountains, creating a scene that feels both tranquil and awe-inspiring. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the shimmering lake from various vantage points along the highway. The area is perfect for photography, leisurely walks, or simply sitting and taking in the peaceful surroundings. Additionally, the nearby Ananuri Fortress adds a touch of history to the visit, making it a must-see for both nature enthusiasts and history buffs. Whether you're passing through on your way to Gudauri or seeking a quiet spot to relax, the Zhinvali Water Reservoir offers a memorable experience that showcases the natural beauty and historical richness of Georgia.

Beautiful stop for pics, however I stopped a bit before the actual spot due to directions based on Google Maps and decided to skip the spot which would’ve given you even better views!

Historic Sites
Ananuri Fortress Complex, located on the Georgian Military Highway by the Zhinvali reservoir, is a historic site with two churches and a watchtower enclosed within massive defensive walls. The complex has witnessed numerous battles and was built by Zurab Aragveli, a ruthless local prince. Despite its dark history, Ananuri rates as one of Georgia's top sites due to its stunning architecture and scenic river views.
Probably the best gem along the Georgian Military Highway. Its a stunning fortress which looks absolutely magical with the water reservoir in the background. I read that you need hours to explore, but we could saw everything in 20-30mins so its feasible for a quick stop. Also parking was 3 lari but entry is free

Beautiful and would recommend when you are near (but nothing super special or worth driving hours) because you see a castle from the outside and a simple church, it is beautiful with the sea and the mountains but all quite simple. Info: A small market is in front of it with good priced cashmere and wool scarfs and ponchos and a toilette for 1 GEL.

The Ananuri Fortress Complex is one of Georgia’s most spectacular historical sites, offering a perfect blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty. 🏰 Located along the Aragvi River, about 70 km from Tbilisi, the fortress was built in the 16th–17th centuries and served as a stronghold for the Dukes of Aragvi. The complex played a significant role in defending the region against invaders and was the center of political and military power in the area. The architecture of Ananuri is truly impressive. The complex includes two churches, defensive walls, towers, and a bell tower, each adorned with intricate stone carvings and crosses. The Church of the Assumption is particularly stunning, featuring beautiful frescoes and detailed bas-reliefs that showcase Georgia’s rich medieval art and craftsmanship. Walking through the complex, you can feel the grandeur and strategic importance of this historic site. Ananuri is not only historically significant but also surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The fortress sits beside the Zhinvali Water Reservoir, providing stunning reflections of the complex in the turquoise waters. Visitors often share stories of battles and legends associated with the Dukes of Aragvi, adding a fascinating layer of folklore to the experience. The combination of history, architecture, and nature makes it a truly immersive visit. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a photographer, or simply a traveler seeking to experience Georgia’s heritage, the Ananuri Fortress Complex is a must-visit. The well-preserved structures, beautiful carvings, and scenic surroundings make it a highlight of any trip along the Georgian Military Highway.

Beautiful and historic place with stunning views over the lake and mountains. The fortress is well preserved and really worth exploring. You can climb the towers for some amazing photos. There are a few small shops and stalls around, but parking can get a bit crowded. Overall, a lovely stop on the way to Gudauri and definitely worth visiting.

Ananuri Fortress is one of those places that instantly transports you back in time. ⛪🏰 It’s located along the Georgian Military Highway, surrounded by stunning mountain views and overlooking the beautiful Aragvi River — honestly, the view itself is worth the stop! The fortress is well-preserved, with stone towers, ancient walls, and a church that’s rich with carvings and history. You can climb up the towers (a bit steep, but fun!) for an incredible panoramic view. It’s a quick stop on the way to Kazbegi, and many tour guides include it in their itinerary — if yours doesn’t, insist on going. You won’t regret it! A perfect mix of history, architecture, and scenic beauty — definitely a 5/5 from me.

Great place to relax before going up in Gudauri. Lots of activities to do there. Sightseeing, you can try their boat ride, there are also some food trucks below. Good for family stopover. Great ground view of Aragvi waters. We tried some family picture there and there is a playground for the kiddos. Its a complete place and great for weekend for the family as well.
Raymond B — Google review
An amazing historical site with beautiful views of the Aragvi River and surrounding mountains. The fortress is well-preserved and offers a great glimpse into Georgia’s past. It’s free of charge to enter but theres a 3 lari charge for parking you have to pay when you leaving the lot.
KevUn — Google review
Beautiful historic stop on the Georgian Military Highway. The fortress overlooks the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir, offering stunning views and great photo spots. You can walk inside freely—explore the stone towers, churches, and walls that date back centuries. Outside, you’ll find small stalls with snacks and souvenirs. Best to visit in the morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds. Not a big site, but definitely worth the stop for history and scenery together.

Shiomgvime Monastery

Mentioned on

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in a narrow limestone canyon on the northern bank of the Kura River, about 30 km from Georgia's capital Tbilisi, lies the Shiomgvime Monastery. This medieval monastic complex is steeped in history and tradition, with its origins dating back to the 6th century when it was founded by the monk Shio.
Shiomgvime Monastery, nestled in a picturesque gorge near the town of Mtskheta, is a serene and spiritual retreat that offers visitors a glimpse into Georgia’s rich monastic tradition. Founded in the 6th century by St. Shio, one of the thirteen Assyrian Fathers who introduced monasticism to Georgia, this secluded complex is steeped in history and religious significance. The monastery’s setting is breathtaking, surrounded by rugged cliffs and lush greenery, creating an atmosphere of peace and introspection. The main church, built in the 12th century, showcases the simplicity and elegance of medieval Georgian architecture, with its unadorned stone walls and harmonious proportions. Inside, visitors can find ancient frescoes and a tranquil space for prayer and contemplation. A highlight of the site is the cave chapel where St. Shio is said to have lived and prayed, adding a layer of mysticism to the visit. The monastery complex also includes additional chapels, cells, and a bell tower, all of which blend seamlessly into the natural landscape. Shiomgvime Monastery is an ideal destination for those seeking spiritual solace, historical insight, or a quiet escape into nature. Its proximity to Tbilisi and Mtskheta makes it easily accessible, yet its secluded location ensures a profound sense of tranquility and connection to Georgia’s spiritual heritage.

Beautiful, the road leading to the monastery, the churches but also all the olive trees.
Harmen Q — Google review
If you want to go out of your daily repeating life style and find a peaceful and quiet place to visit and worship. This is the place I would recommend to you. There are no external things to distract you or crowd . This place is so quiet that even walking sound feel so much more loud. I love this place so much. I will come back one day for sure but I don't know when but I will.
BIMAL B — Google review
The Shio-Mgvime Monastery is an absolute must-visit when exploring the Mtskheta area. Tucked away at the end of a scenic gorge, it truly feels like a retreat from the modern world. The architecture is stunning—ancient and profoundly simple—and the main church, with its towering conical dome, is a beautiful example of medieval Georgian design. What sets this place apart is the palpable sense of peace and history. Walking the grounds, you can almost feel the presence of the original monks. Make sure to seek out the actual cave (Mgvime means "cave"!) where St. Shio is said to have lived and prayed—it adds a mystical layer to the whole experience. The monastery grounds are impeccably maintained, and the surrounding nature is breathtaking, especially the drive leading up to the complex. It's a sacred, quiet spot perfect for reflection. Tip: Dress respectfully as it is an active religious site. Since it's a bit secluded, arranging transportation (like a round-trip taxi from Mtskheta) is highly recommended. The entry is free, allowing everyone to enjoy this magnificent piece of Georgian heritage
Krishna K — Google review
Personally, I don't think it's something wow and omg and the most beautiful place on the earth. If you aren't religious fanatic, you might not find much to be impressed about. The church has some beautiful frescoes and they are indeed mesmerizing. At the same time, you look at the area around it and see all these luxurious houses, gardens and expensive cars, place flooded with restriction signs, no WC's, no chairs and everything that will make you leave the place asap. I hoped there would be path and possibility to climb close to the caves but every turn has restriction sign. The good side is that it's very close to Tbilisi (30mins) and there are parking spots and a good road. Overall, it's a nice location, there are nice picnic spots at the road but it's not the place that I would visit again.
Ekaterine ( — Google review
One if the beautiful monasteries in Georgia. Shape of this monastery is different from other monasteries without dome roof. No transportation except taxi. Fresco and paintings are really impressive. Must visit place when you are in Tbilisi.

Incredible! Not a busy place. We were taken there by a taxi driver, Jvari + 20 GEL. It's worth it! The views along the way are amazing, the monastery complex is an island of peace and silence. I was just outside of this place because they work 10-18.00, so I didn’t have time to visit their museum yet. But they have beautiful territories with a park , so you could walk, also the photo zone is good for weddings. Nearby they have a restaurant “orangery”, so the whole day could be spent there. Next time I will come on 10am to visit their museum and to have time for a lunch in the restaurant. Also you could buy some wine there.

We had a private winery tour. The guide was polite, helpful, and ready to answer all our questions. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to taste food at the restaurant because there was a special event, and the restaurant was closed to visitors. The location is really nice; you can walk around, and I think you can have a picnic. Call ahead to book the winery tour and inquire about the restaurant’s hours. They also offer different master classes, but you should book them at least two weeks in advance
Anastasiia O — Google review
Hands down one of the best vineyards we’ve visited! The staff was super friendly and welcoming They gave us a full tour of the place and explained the whole winemaking process. We even got to walk through the vineyard, pluck grapes straight from the vines, and eat them! Tried three different wines, and honestly, all three were amazing. The location is beautiful and relaxing. You could easily spend half a day here just enjoying the view and the vibe. Highly recommended!

Absolutely in love with the place and story behind it. We arranged in advance excursion with guide, wine tasting and also book a table in restaurant, suggest to visit a place outside the city. Great option for tourists to combine with Mtskheta visit as it is on the way to Chateau.
Aija B — Google review
I have done so many wine tasting in the world and this is probably the worst one. It wasn’t a horrible experience but it’s also not a great one. The area is nice. The entrance feels like I am in Italy. However, there were no signs of “wine tasting” / “wine tour”. We just went to the office area and hoped to find someone. The “tour” started with the wine cellar and it was over, not even entering the chateau or have a short walk in the vineyard. Our guide just mentioned the traditional way of making wine, showed us some old tools, walk through the barrels and voila, job done. He kept asking us if we have questions, and we were like aren’t you supposed to share more things about this vineyard? A guide is supposed to talk more than the guests. While we were walking back to the restaurant for tasting, we walked on the red carpet. And we suspected he said this “joke” to everybody. He said “do you feel like you are Victoria Secret’s Angel?”. He asked multiple times! And my response was “Victoria’s Secret Angels get paid to walk, right now we are not getting paid”. He stopped asking this question. Onto the wine tasting which is supposed to be the highlight. But it’s not! Two reds two whites, honestly mediocre. I would not buy any of it. The portion is far too less. The guide tried to explain by saying yeah wine tasting portion is not much, because you are supposed to taste it. Some people would even spit it out. No, you can spit it out if you want but when you provide only a tiny bit of wine, I don’t even have a spare portion to spit them out. When we were having the last red, the lady pouring the wine was getting stingier. Honestly a shot of tequila would be more than the red wine portion. It’s ridiculous. The tasting experience I got in Spain, Germany, Portugal, Moldova etc were nothing like this. You basically get unlimited refills and unlimited water. That’s how you get your customers. Not by a portion that is less than a shot. Oh and our guide was trying to be funny again (!), and said oh you two will release more emotions after drinking, making these unhinged comments because he was saying we were too shy. A guide’s job is to explain us the vineyard and wine, not expecting their guests to be social butterflies. After I mentioned the portion is way too small, he didn’t even get me a refill, which he should have done for the bare minimum, instead he said I am demanding after drinking. First, I am demanding when I am not drinking, second, the portion is just unacceptable. That’s why he just earned the winery a two stars review.

Château Mukhrani is one of Georgia’s most prestigious wineries, blending centuries of history with modern winemaking excellence. Located just outside Tbilisi, the estate is set against a backdrop of rolling hills and a historic château, making every visit feel like a journey into the past. Founded in the 19th century by Prince Ivane Mukhranbatoni, the winery quickly became a symbol of sophistication and innovation in Georgian viticulture. Today, Château Mukhrani continues this legacy with a perfect balance of tradition and contemporary techniques. The vineyards are cultivated with native Georgian grapes such as Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, and Shavkapito, as well as international varieties, offering visitors a diverse tasting experience. Each wine reflects the unique terroir of the region, with rich aromas and layered flavors that highlight the best of Georgian winemaking. The guided tours provide a fascinating insight into the château’s history, the ancient qvevri method, and the modern cellar, making it educational as well as enjoyable. Whether you’re strolling through the picturesque gardens, exploring the château’s grand halls, or savoring a glass of deep, velvety red on the terrace.

What an unpleasant place. The wine might be fine but it swarms with unmotivated staff, the tour is done with no enthusiasm whatsoever, the restaurants are closed all the time for events but marked “open” on google. When you ask about it staff roll their eyes. Stray dogs on the grounds…well you get the idea.
Martin K — Google review
The way to get there was horrible. The road was blocked and the by-pass was through dirt roads. We arrived only to find out there was an event. They should write on Google that visitation is by appointment only!!!!!!! Very misleading. The guard at the gate was rude an could have at least been more accommodating.

Gergeti Trinity Church

Sights & Landmarks
Gergeti Trinity Church, located in the historical Khevi province of Georgia, is a 14th-century cross-cupola church perched on top of Gergeti Mountain at an impressive height of 2,200 meters above sea level. This iconic monument offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, with the majestic Mt Kazbek as a backdrop.
“A cultural gem with an amazing view.”✨ This is definitely a must see when visiting Kazbegi. We hiked up the mountain, which is easily doable. However, you can also reach the location by car. The most stunning thing about the location is the view. You are high up the mountain and can see the entire valley on various sides. The church itself is also very pretty from the inside.

To visit this place is an experience to be cherished. The views of the mountains and the valley are phenomenal. We drove to the church. The road is sealed so even a sedan can drive on it, no need for a 4 wheel drive. You can also hike to the church. The chapel is small but peaceful. Please dress modestly. Women in pants can borrow a wrap around skirt kept in a basket as you enter the chapel. We visited in October where the hillside was rich with colour. Entry is free

We've been to Kazbegi and Stepenzminda twice but luckily could visit this Famous and Ancient Orthodox Churh this summer. The View is indeed stunning and you cant miss here. Able to light up few candles and its a really good experience. You can reach via vehicle or by local guides vehicles. ⛪️🏔⛰️
Rasika F — Google review
I visited the Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Kazbegi, Georgia in October 2025 during autumn with my family. We started our journey from Gudauri and covered a few local viewpoints along the way. The road trip was incredibly scenic—mountains painted in shades of lemon yellow, brown, red, and green from the autumn leaves. The higher peaks, which are usually snow-covered, looked almost bare with no trees or grass. The monastery sits at an altitude of around 2,500 meters, and the road leading up from Kazbegi is extremely steep and curvy—only experienced drivers should attempt it. After parking, you need to do a short trek to reach the monastery, and the winds at the top are very strong. Once you reach the summit, the view around feels like something straight out of a wallpaper or desktop background. One piece of advice: please wear proper ethnic or modest clothing to respect the local culture. After that, we visited the last monastery near the Georgia–Russia border, which is also beautiful and located right next to the highway. Finally, we returned to Gudauri and took a jeep up the mountains to see and touch the remaining patches of snow at the summit.
Bipin C — Google review
One of the most breathtaking views you can see in Georgia. The vibe and peace of this mountain church is truly unmatched. Entry and parking is free. However, its much further away from Kazbegi than the map shows, it was around 20 mins one-way
Fekete M — Google review
Gergeti Trinity Church is easily one of the most memorable places to visit in Georgia. Sitting high above Stepantsminda with Mount Kazbek rising dramatically behind it, the views are simply breathtaking. Whether you hike up the trail or take a 4x4 vehicle, the journey itself feels like part of the experience. The hike is steep in parts, but the scenery along the way makes it completely worth it. The church dates back to the 14th century and has a quiet, spiritual atmosphere. Even with visitors around, it still feels calm and authentic. The stone architecture paired with the wide-open mountain landscape creates a truly iconic sight—one that looks amazing in every season. Perfect for photography, relaxing, or just enjoying the fresh mountain air. Weather can change fast, so it’s good to bring something warm. Early mornings and late afternoons offer the best lighting, and if you're lucky, you’ll see the peak of Kazbek emerge from the clouds. A must-see landmark in Kazbegi and one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the entire country!
Krishna K — Google review
We had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Gergeti Trinity Church, nestled at an elevation of 2170m and just a ten-minute drive from Stepantsminda, the nearby town. Opting to drive up the mountain was definitely the right choice for us, given the steep and cold conditions. The views from the top were absolutely spectacular and made the drive completely worth it. We admired those who chose to hike up, kudos to them! It wasn't our cup of tea, but the breathtaking panorama made the trip unforgettable either way. Highly recommend visiting for anyone considering it; whether you hike or drive, the scenery won’t disappoint!
Sal S — Google review
This was an incredible experience from start to finish. We chose to hike the track up to the church, which I would strongly suggest. The walk itself is lovely and not too strenuous, taking us about two and a half hours. The scenery along the way is breathtaking. But the true magic is inside the monastery. The moment you enter, you feel a shift. The air is calm, and there's a profound, ancient feeling all around you. It's one of those special places that quiets your mind and settles your soul. The entire experience was simply awesome, and the feeling inside that monastery will stay with me for a long time.

Gveleti Big Waterfall is a stunning natural attraction nestled in the picturesque Gveleti valley of Georgia. Surrounded by verdant forests and towering mountains, it offers an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts. The waterfall itself is a mesmerizing sight as water flows down rocky formations, creating a soothing ambiance. While the road to the waterfall may be challenging, the experience of witnessing this natural wonder makes it worth the effort.
Great hike, the last 50 meters of the ascent to the waterfall are a bit harder and steeper, but doable and worth it. If you have 4*4 you can drive up to the actual start of the trail just after the abandoned metal container, although the trail is nice. I recommend driving up about 10 min after you cross the metal pipe, there a right-bend and a lot of space to leave your car.
Amit K — Google review
Such a scenic and refreshing trek to this beautiful waterfall! We went deep in, and the icy water combined with the high-speed wind made it an unforgettable experience. It’s an easy and accessible trail—definitely a must-do if you're in the area!

If you have 4*4 u can drive till red container no need to pay parking charges it will save your time if you don’t want to walk. The drive is a bit slow and steady with huge pothole but manageable. Waterfall is beautiful worth it try to reach before sun set as it get dark
Habib S — Google review
Everything there is to be written about the delights of the two waterfalls has been covered in these pages already. If you are planning on using Google Maps for directions, please note it'll announce your arrival at some random point on the road roughly 200-300 metres from the start of the trail, with no waterfall in sight. What you need to do is drive on until you pass signs for Gveleti, followed by a bridge (see photo) and take the immediate, sharp turn left- as for landmarks you'll see a Georgian flag on top of the hill and a rubbish bin on the side of the road (see photos). Parking is 5 GEL and toilets 1 GEL. Make sure you're wearing decent footwear as the trail to the big waterfall is narrow, steep and slippery in places. There is an unpaved track that extends much of the way to the top but don't attempt it even if you have an off roader- if you want to avoid the 5 GEL parking charge, there is plenty of free parking if you just drive 200-300 metres up the track.
Krishna M — Google review
Fantastic beauty. Totally worth a 30-40min hike (one way). If you have 4x4 - you can skip paid parking and go a little more up (saving ~10-15min of walking uphill), but even with our 4x4 we were afraid to go to a maximum point reachable by car - the road is horrible. The hike is not too hard, but also not a walk in a park.
Antanas B — Google review
An impressive high waterfall. If you are in Kazbegi, I recommend that you do not miss it. If you arrive with a 4x4 vehicle, you can drive to an old red container and save 15-20 minutes of walking. There you can park your car and start a route of about 20 more minutes to the big waterfall. Please note that the road is difficult and narrow and only a 4x4 vehicle can pass through it. With a regular car, you have to park at the beginning of the road in a paid parking lot.
Asael G — Google review
Amazing experience to reach this magnificent big waterfall, a bit of a difficult trek, particularly the last part, where I have to walk up the boulders and slippery stones, it was raining heavily so I had to come down quickly to go to small waterfalls. This was part of a day trip from Kazbegi.

A great experience with fly Gudauri. Awesome pilot and staffs made our experience much better. It was indeed a fearsome flight due to the high wind but the pilot made it much easy for me. We got the videos of the flight the next day itself and they made it possible without further delay. The location was also great. They also operate a 4 wheel moto rental wich is the biggest tourist trap waste of money you can do in Georgia. 200 GEL do spend 20 minutes going up a small hill and back, and not allowed to go faster than 3km/hr. Avoid that part.

Amazing. Mesmerising and activity filled. Little more rustic than European ski resorts, but excellent. Take care of your own safety

We stayed 4 nights in February, the resort was absolutely wonderful. Lots of snow, many lifts, cafe's, restaurants, everything was clean and working. The prices are incomparable with Alps or High Tatras, food was delicious. But the best part was the skiing and snowboarding. So much fresh snow I can only remember from my childhood. The slopes were well prepared and nicely marked, everyone was really nice and helpful. Most locals speak Russian or English and you can pay for everything with card or cash or even US dollars. There is also a wonderful spa with outside hot pool and ice rink. Highly recommended

Like: - not as crowded as many Western European ones - relaxed vibe - lots of adorable stray dogs Dislike: - get ready to get lost. There are barely any signs or ski lifts are not clearly labeled. It's hard to navigate but you'll eventually get the hang of it with some effort. - there's hardly any crowd control for some of the ski lifts which means chaos - expect some icy patches on the lower runs toward the end of the day

Gudauri Ski Resort offers stunning mountain views, well-groomed slopes, and a friendly atmosphere. Perfect for all skill levels, it’s ideal for both casual skiers and thrill-seekers. With cozy lodges and great après-ski options, it’s a fantastic winter getaway in the heart of Georgia’s Caucasus Mountains.

During my winter visit to the resort, I was captivated by the breathtaking scenery, even though I didn’t get the chance to stay there. Unfortunately, the rope cars (cable cars) were not operational during our visit, which was a slight disappointment. For those interested in activities like snowmobiling, I strongly recommend negotiating prices directly with the operators. Booking through guides can lead to significant markups due to commissions, so you may save a fair amount by handling it yourself. However, safety is paramount. Be cautious while participating in snow and ice activities, as the conditions can sometimes be unpredictable. It’s worth nothing that my experience was limited to visiting the resort rather than staying on the property, so I can’t comment on the accommodation or other on-site services.

At 16,581 feet above sea level, Mt Kazbek is an impressive extinct volcano offering hiking and climbing routes. Also known as Mount Kazbegi or Mkinvartsveri in Georgian, it's nicknamed The Bride due to its often fog-shrouded peak. Located on the border of Georgia's Kazbegi District, reaching the mountain takes a two to three-hour drive followed by a walk due to slippery ice.
Beautiful mountains, breathtaking scenery, one of highest mountains in Georgia. Recommended to visit and visualize this beautiful mountains when visited Georgia. Not to be missed.

My first 5000 m summit, one of the greatest peaks of Caucasus - breathtaking views and good ability to try own limits before going to higher summits. Took 100 hours to climb the top and come back to Kazbegi village. Good luck to everyone!

It’s a very beautiful mountain that never gets boring to look at. You can see it directly from the accommodation. There’s a trail leading up the mountain for those who want to visit its glacier.

Detailed Kazbek 2024 summit expedition trip report. Our expedition, organized by Elamus Pluss, consisted of 12 members: two guides, ten well-prepared climbers. Each participant had undergone extensive six-month training and/or had prior high-altitude experience. We carried all our gear, including food, tents, and equipment (backpacks15-25 kg, no horses used). Day 1 (July 4): Riga (11pm) -> Tbilisi (4:45am) flight. Day 2 (July 5): After landing, picked up by a 20-seater bus at 5:00 am, heading straight to Stepantsminda. Arrived by 9:00 am. The morning was spent preparing for the climb—buying gas, snacks, renting additional equipment. Checked into the Paramount Hotel at 1:00 pm. The hotel, which has its own Delica (6-seater bus), arranged transport to the Trinity Church for 60 lari. After some rest, we held a group meeting in the evening to discuss the expedition plan and distribute group equipment. Dinner at Cozy Corner, night ended with packing and early sleep. Day 3 (July 6): 8:00 am breakfast, we took Delicas to the Trinity Church and began our hike at 9:57 am. The trail to the 3000m camp took approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes, following a work-rest rhythm of 50 minutes of walking + 10 min of rest, with some additional breaks as needed. We arrived just in time to set up our tents before the rain started. The 3000m camp now has two huts: Altihut and the newer Alpine Hut Deka, which is closer to the tent area. Deka offers a cozy sitting area with a fireplace, and amenities like beer (15 lari) and overnight stays (150 lari). Tent campers can use the facilities if they make purchases at the bar. Evening spent packing for the next day and went to bed early. Day 4 (July 7): Woke up at 6:45 am and began our hike to the Bethlem camp (3653m) at 8:09 am, arriving at 1:30 pm after a 5-hour, 20-minute trek covering 4.8 km and 700 meters of altitude gain. That evening, we decided to reduce our stay at Meteo camp from four nights to three due to a favorable earlier weather window. Group’s health was strong. Day 5 (July 8): The day was dedicated to glacier and self-arrest training on the Meteo camp slope from 10:00 to 11:30 am. In the evening, check-in meeting at 7:00 pm to monitor group health, measure SpO2 levels, and assess altitude sickness symptoms. Also discussed summit day plan, ensuring everyone was well-prepared. Day 6 (July 9): Summit day began at midnight. We gathered at the Meteo well, and started the ascent at 1:08 am. Assistant was the pointman, maintaining a steady pace with a heart rate target of 140 bpm. One member turned back early due to the fast pace, as per our agreement to make a decision before reaching the glacier. Here’s a breakdown of our times and distances: • To White Cross: 35 minutes • To 3000 altitude meters: 1h 15min • To 4000m: 1h 25min • Glacier equipment on at 4250m: 2h 20min • To 4500m: 3h 55min, covering 5.6km • To 4650m: 5h, covering 6.2km • To 4800m: 6h 05min, covering 6.3km • To 4850m (peak plateau, Russian-Georgian border): 6h 30min SUMMIT at 8:40 am after a 7.5-hour climb, with 11/12 members making it to the top. The final section, though steep with a 40-degree incline, was manageable due to 20-30 cm of fresh snow, which made for easy steps. The conditions were safe, no need for extra ropes or belaying. We spent 20 minutes at the summit, enjoying clear skies before descending. Fog and clouds rolled in just as we started down, making the snow mushy. We returned to Meteo camp by 12:45 pm, completing the summit round trip in under 12 hours. Fatigue set in, with two members showing strong symptoms of altitude sickness, but all recovered after resting. Day 7 (July 10): We began our descent at 8:40 am in rainy conditions (muddy terrain) especially for those without walking poles. We crossed the glacier with just crampons. We arrived at the Trinity Church parking lot by 1:00 pm, where our bus was already waiting to take us back.

Mount Kazbegi is the third-highest peak in Georgia. With snow capped mountains, forest ranges and lakes make it the most beautiful part of Georgia. The Georgian Military Highway leading to Kazbegi from Tbilisi is itself is a drive which I will never forget. There are many places on the way where one can stop to enjoy the view and take pictures. But on the narrow road, there can be traffic jam, which we faced both ways. There are several accommodation options available if anyone wants to spend more time.

I travelled here in the end of April and the place was full of snow and looked really stunning with beautifully mesmerizing views of the snow capped mountains all around. The bar and shisha place was more on the expensive side and other snow activities were shut due to reaching of almost the end of snow season. Paragliding was open but the locals told me it's not very safe as the people aren't very professional and reliable, so I avoided that. Besides it's a very beautiful and breathtaking taking spot. Also to mention the road closures were a bit of a problem as I had to wait for an hour just to cover 7kms.
Anjali A — Google review
When we went it was around 4 degrees and foggy and light wind. But because of fog could not see the mountains to the fullest. Best time is when less fog but hard to predict

It was a complete zoo when I visited but even so, the views are spectacular and so it is definitely worth a visit. The murals on the monument paint what to me was a rather romanticised version of Russian Georgian history but for a friendship memorial, i guess that's the point.
Phil M — Google review
The Friendship Monument, celebrating the camaraderie between Soviet Russia and Soviet Georgia, is set against the backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty. During the summer, visitors are treated to lush green mountains, while in winter, the landscape transforms into a stunning snowy wonderland.
Umer S — Google review
I highly recommend it! The view is breathtaking!!! And there also a very nice old man who sells good honey right before the panorama on the side of the road, I suggest you get honey after you finish your visit
Aya S — Google review
Despite the ideology behind this memorial, the views are outstanding and incredibly worth the stop. 360 view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Local shops sell fresh fruits and snacks. Entry is free by the parking fee is cheap and "negotiable".
O M — Google review
This place mesmerizes anyone with its panoramic view of the mountains. You will get a totally different scene in winter and summer seasons. In winter, the nearby mountains are covered with thick snow and its difficult to walk towards the monument. On the other hand, lush greenery during the summer season welcomes you. If you get the chance to visit the monument then do visit it in both summer and winter.

Lots of cute strays doggies here. The views are amazing and open There's a concrete block that's a makeshift toilet with 3 stalls at the lower carpark. 2 GEL to use and is as basic as it gets Spend 5 GEL at the restaurant on a soda and use the toilets there instead Lots of people all around as its one of the better rest stops on the way to and from Stepantsminda or the Russian border

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Uplistsikhe is an archaeological site that contains the remains of a rock-cut town that dates back to the Iron Age. The town, consisting of caves and other structures carved into the rocky landscape, offers a unique glimpse into ancient Georgian history. It is possible to visit Uplistsikhe as part of day trips from Tbilisi, along with other nearby attractions such as Mtskheta and Gori or David Gareja Monastery.
One of the most interesting and historic places you can travel to in Georgia. This mountain-side carved town was inhabited up until around 1800. The unique culture, wine making and traditions of this place is truly one to learn about. Entry is a little pricey, 15 lari/person or 20 lari/person with a guided wine tasting. Parking is free outside the gates. I would plan at least 2-3 hours to comfortably explore this place
Fekete M — Google review
Visited this place as part of a day tour. 15 GEL entrance fee, credit cards accepted. Passed on the optional 5 extra wine extravaganza. A little more cave variety here as compared to Vardzia. Thank goodness we had a guide, as she added a lot to the experience. 👍
Jon W — Google review
A huge unique historical site to visit. We loved exploring all the caves with the children and imagining what life would have been like when it was in use. It could have been better to have some explanations on the signs.
Tom W — Google review
beautiful and unique place! The old city carved into the wall is absolutely stunning, full of charm and history. The views from the top are breathtaking, and the atmosphere feels peaceful and authentic. There’s also an option for wine tasting for an extra 5 lari — totally worth it! The staff were friendly and spoke English, which made everything easy to navigate. I came here 7 months pregnant, and while the walk up was a bit challenging, it was definitely worth the effort. Highly recommend visiting!
Ilana R — Google review
This beautiful old cave town is an incredible place to visit. The massive rocks look stunning, especially with the autumn trees providing color, but be warned: the climbing is hard and slippery.
ANTHONY A — Google review
If you're visiting Tbilisi, you can come to Uplistsikhe on a day trip. Most people spend around an hour here before moving on to another place, but you can easily stay here for half a day and have lunch at the foot of the hills. Uplistsikhe is spectacular and must be enjoyed slowly and hopefully without the big tourist hordes. Most organized tourist tours arrive around lunchtime. If you don't want the lunchtime hordes, come in the early morning or the late afternoon.

The Stalin Museum in Gori is a popular tourist attraction, showcasing a collection of photos, art, and memorabilia from the life of the notorious Communist Party leader. While it primarily focuses on Joseph Stalin's early years and rise to power, the museum has been criticized for its lack of balanced presentation regarding his career and deeds. Visitors can explore the halls filled with memorabilia and even see the small house where Stalin lived during his early childhood.
A place where imternational poeple.love to visit. Mainly visitors are from China, Japan, India or poeple who are wise enough to understand the work and influence of Son of Gori (place) J. Stalin. I recommend to visit to know about Joseph Stalin. Do not visit if you expect some old tank or armors of Stalin. Its just pictire museum of local boy.
Dr M — Google review
The museum has a very pleasant atmosphere and a lot of potential. However, many of the photos and artifacts lacked complete or detailed descriptions, which made it difficult to fully appreciate their historical context. With some improvements in providing more thorough explanations, this place could easily become a truly professional and outstanding museum.
Amir T — Google review
Museum is full of cool objects from Stalin’s life, however the organisation of the museum is not very easy to digest and there is not much english to read for the photos and descriptions. Plus the power went out towards the end of our tour so it was a little difficult to see some of the pictures. Overall, if you know a decent amount about Stalin and the Soviet Union then its worth a visit. Entry was 15 GEL so not too bad.
Redpanda — Google review
Visited this place as part of a day tour. 15 GEL entry fee, credit cards accepted. Thank goodness we had a live guide, as she added a lot to the experience. Obviously Stalin is not a popular figure in much of Georgia. Our guide largely echoed those sentiments.
Jon W — Google review
Very interesting museum. Birthplace of the Georgian man who became known to the world as Stalin. It is not a celebration of his life as many could expect, it does also criticise its controversial legacy. Many interesting artifacts including the bullet-proof trained Stalin used to travel around, including to the Yalta conference of 1945.

“A glimpse into history, even without stepping fully inside ✨” We visited the Stalin Museum in Gomi on a weekday and were surprised at how busy it was. Since we didn’t buy a ticket, we only explored the areas at the entrance, but even there you can already see quite a bit that gives you a taste of the museum’s historical collection. While it was crowded, it’s still an interesting stop if you’re nearby, and the fact that you can experience some parts without paying makes it accessible to everyone. – Genuine Gems Overview – ⭐ Rating: 5/5 💰 Price Paid: Free 💎 A Genuine Gem? This museum, located in Stalin's hometown, is entirely dedicated to telling the story of the communist leader. The main collection is housed in an imposing palace of Stalinist Gothic architecture and is filled with photos, documents, gifts he received, and personal items. A guided tour is highly recommended, as the context provided by the guide changes the perception of the visit, since the exhibition itself can feel like a glorification of his figure, without much critical space. In the outdoor area, you can visit the original house where Stalin lived during his childhood. It is a very small wooden cabin, which is now protected by a large stone structure, almost like a temple. Admission to the museum is paid, and they accept card payments.
Luana B — Google review
It was ok. Lots of old pictures of Stalin, a little bit about the Gulags and some personal belongings. Glad to have been, would not go back again. Most descriptions in Russia and Georgian. Free wifi. We were able to leave our suitcase at security which was nice. The building itself was architecturally interesting. His old house is being renovated so it fences off. The train carriage was my personal highlight.

Borjomi Central Park is a serene oasis nestled in lush evergreen forests, offering a refreshing escape from the summer heat. Visitors can relax on benches under ancient trees, explore playgrounds and rides with their kids, and savor the renowned Borjomi water from the mineral spring. The park features well-maintained gardens, walking paths, and various recreational facilities for picnics and leisurely strolls.
This establishment is known for being quite welcoming and suitable for families. The tickets are reasonably priced, and it offers continuous access, available around the clock. Complimentary carbonated water is provided under the blue dome. Additionally, there's a section where one can capture wonderful photographs while standing on the stones beside the river, though caution is advised due to potential slipperiness.

Beautiful, well maintained park with plenty to see and do inside. There is a small funfair for children, a zip line, waterfall, plenty of walks and points of collection for the famous borjomi water. Recommend visiting here if you are in the town, entrance fee is a couple of GEL per person.

Borjomi Central Park is a beautiful and peaceful place that truly captures the charm of this historic spa town. The park is clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by stunning nature. You can enjoy a relaxing walk along the river, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and even try the famous Borjomi mineral water straight from the spring. There are many attractions for both adults and children, including a small amusement area, rope park, and even a cable car that offers lovely views of the surrounding forest. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming — perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to unwind. In autumn, the colors of the trees are especially magical. It’s one of those places where you feel connected to nature and history at the same time. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Georgia!

Nice nature place to check, it's probably the highlight of Borjomi, There plenty of views you also can drink the Borjomi original water for free or like people do take huge bottles with you to take away. Be careful from some of the restaurants on the way to the park they seem good but they are overpriced and the food is disgusting.
Alex B — Google review
This is a tourist park that charges a 5-lari entrance fee. However, the park is still under construction and currently offers very little apart from a pleasant view of a small waterfall. There is a children’s amusement area, but it too is unfinished. The road leading to the sulfur pools is muddy and unpaved, making it difficult to walk. Additionally, access to the pools — located about 3 km from the park, roughly a 45-minute walk — costs an extra 15 lari.

Mtsvane Monastery or Green Monastery, also called St .George''s Monastery is not to be missed by visiting Borjomi. This place has a special holy vibe; you can deeply feel, that this is a house of God. Lots of history in stones of the Monastery, dating back to the 9th Century). The location is slightly secluded (recommend to reach it by walking through a beautiful and a bit mystery forest), as it should be for a such place. It really gives a sense of peace and tranquility.

This felt like a time warp back to the Soviet era! The cable cars are tiny and pretty run down (don't look through the holes in the floor!). They run pretty frequently though (when full) and they're free! Most of the lines have been decommissioned or are under renovation but this station has two of the still operational lines. A really unique experienc. Take the time to explore the abandoned buildings at the top.
J C — Google review
It was my best experience in Georgia! I loved the whole town, the abandoned-looking concrete buildings on the top (people actually live there though... Crazy), the scary blue cable car, the gloomy women working at the station, the poor kids smoking cigarettes and asking for your money... Well they were not so lovely.
Szilvia P — Google review
Very exciting place to be! The clock stopped there few decades ago. However, the most cable cars lines in Chiatura are already being replaced by a modern one! We found only three out of original seventeen.
Veronika R — Google review
This was a beautiful place. Probably my best memory I will have of Georgia. These rides are used by the locals daily and they were very friendly. Take the ride up, and explore the Soviet-era buildings. Only seven people per ride and waiting time for each was 10minutes. There are a few other cable lines around Chiatura, go and spend some time exploring them. Secret tip: rides were free! They did not even take any money when offered.
Mojojoedwards — Google review
It's great fun to ride with the old cable cars. Totally worth to stop by. Highly recommended.
Thomas H — Google review
This is where the two well known cable cars are. One line has the circular windows, the other is the one with the painting of a man (inside the actual building). Both are free. For the one with circular windows, you can go up and open the doors yourself. For the one inside the building, someone will come with a key and open it. You can get a taxi to bring you here from Zestafoni for 45 lari as of March 2019 with stops at the pillar monastery (~4h). Really cool day trip.

A throwback to Soviet times. The cars themselves appear in poor condition but keep connecting Chiatura. Few tourists venture here but are made to feel welcome. One of the top experiences in Georgia.
Simon P — Google review
A cool relic of Chiatura still in use today. Many of the cable cars lool like original models, a silent nod to those who built it, it's mad that they're still lasting to this day. The service is free to use and a great way to quickly escape to the heights of Chiatura

Akhaltsikhe (Rabati) Castle, also known as Rabati, is a massive double-walled fortress complex dating back to the 9th century, with most structures built in the 12th century. The Georgian government invested heavily in its reconstruction in 2012. Situated at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, it's a major attraction dominating the landscape.
Fantastic place. Yes it had been renovated, maybe too nice, but it gives a good impression how it used to be. There is a part with free entrance where you can climb in the 2 towers and walk the walls. That is also where hoek and restaurants/cafes are. The Paris part is really really nice. So many things to see. It is really worth the money. Take some time though.

Pretty cool castle complex. Lots of space, many different buildings to visit, and great views. Some free public spaces, but buying a ticket is worth it, especially if you have time and enjoy exploring. Although is a bit empty inside in regards to exhibitions, but pretty nice otherwise.

Rabati Castle is absolutely stunning — a mix of history, culture, and architecture all in one place. The complex combines a fortress, mosque, church, and museum, showing the diverse past of Georgia in one view. The stone walls, towers, and courtyards are beautifully preserved, and the views from the top are incredible. It’s one of those places where every corner is worth a photo. If you visit Akhaltsikhe, this is the highlight — especially around sunset when the castle lights up and the atmosphere feels magical. 🏰🌅🇬🇪

Rabati Castle was one of the highlights of our trip, and I would definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary if you’re in the region. What makes it special: • Breathtaking views: The castle sits on a hill with panoramic views of Akhaltsikhe and the surrounding landscape — truly spectacular. • Rich history: With centuries of layered history, from Ottoman to Georgian influences, it’s a fascinating place to explore. The museum, the mosque, the church, and the fortress walls all tell different stories. • Beautiful architecture: The restoration was tastefully done — a blend of medieval, Eastern, and modern elements. It’s a great place to walk around, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere. • Relaxed vibe: There are cute cafés and shaded spots where you can enjoy a coffee, lemonade, or snack while taking in the scenery. Worth planning ahead: We took a Bolt taxi from Borjomi (about a 40-minute drive), but discovered that Bolt doesn’t work there for the return trip. We were lucky to find a cab while walking toward the bus stop, but it could have been stressful — especially since we had another activity planned in the afternoon. There’s a public bus that comes about once an hour, but if you’re on a tight schedule, I recommend pre-arranging your return transportation.

Definitely worth 20 GEL to get the full experience. Beautiful interior views with many steep stairs to navigate. Did not partake of the optional extra audio guide.

Visited this castle as a part of a group tour to Georgia. It's an interesting monument with many architectural buildings located inside. The fountain was my favourite as it was also related to our guide whose grandfather was a part of the mechanical engineering of the fountain ⛲. The main Cathedral of the Virgin boasts vibrant frescoes, adding to the monastery's allure. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Gelati Monastery holds great historical and cultural significance for Georgia.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING I do not know why some reviewers are encouraging others to go on the weekend. Stop misleading people please. Seriously. Look at one of the photos I’m attaching. Even if you go inside, it is NOT worth it. The church should just mark itself closed and block public access completely to avoid confusion

We visited the place at sunset, it was getting dark and we couldn't stay for long. The place is so sacred with a beautiful view over the town. The big church and the small one are under renovation, there were scaffolding all around the interior walls but the visible murals were breathtaking, so were the icons. The history in the place can be observed through these astonishing art pieces. This place should be on top of the list when you visit Kutaisi.
Joelle — Google review
It's closed for renovations so not much to review. Looks like it will take a while to open again.

You can absolutely see why this is a UNESCO world heritage site, one can feel the history emanating from the very stones! Shane it was under renovation when I was there but this must be done to preserve for another 800 years. Do remember this is still a working monastery. I also highly recommend doing the monks paths loop though the beach forest.
Jamie M — Google review
Even though under renovation (August 2025), most of the interior is accessible, except for some ceiling and upper wall paintings. The exterior is partially covered, but the garden remains fully open. Personally, one of the most impressive monasteries in Georgia for the conservation of paintings and history.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Bagrati Cathedral, located in Kutaisi, Georgia, is a historic Orthodox cathedral originally built in the 11th century by King Bagrat III. Despite being damaged and rebuilt over the centuries, it remains a significant monument representing the Republic of Georgia. The cathedral offers stunning views of the Kolkheti Lowlands and Teleti Range. Visitors can also explore the ruins of the inner citadel behind the cathedral.
Bagrati Cathedral is one of the most iconic places in Kutaisi. We visited around sunset, and the view from the top was absolutely beautiful. The cathedral is located on a hill, and the golden light over the city made the atmosphere feel peaceful and relaxing. Inside the church, the feeling was very spiritual and calm. It’s a quiet space that gives a strong sense of history and respect. After that, we walked around to the back of the church and followed a small path uphill. From there, we found a beautiful open spot with a full view of the river and the city. It was one of the best viewpoints we discovered during our trip. The area around the cathedral is clean and quiet. A great place to take photos, enjoy the breeze, or just sit and relax. We got there easily using Yandex Go, which was fast and affordable from the city center. Although it didn’t take long to explore, it’s a place that stays with you. Peaceful, scenic, and definitely worth visiting while you’re in Kutaisi

It's a very calm and serene place, located at the top of a small hill. Hence will offer a great view of the city from top, also a great spots to click some pics. The cathedral with its unique appearance in the green background is awsome. Inside the cathedral is very calm and spiritual. It's a must visit place in kutasi.

A beautiful 11th century cathedral sitting on the hill in Kutaisi city is simply beautiful. We came in the evening and the evening rays of sun gave the church a warm and serene atmosphere. It is full of stories and worth for us to know about. For me, it is a must visit sightseeing if you are in Kutaisi.

Kutaisi's premier cathedral is big and impressive. It is surrounded by the picturesque ruins of a royal castle, which are fun to explore. Stunning views of Kutaisi can also be found on the site. Definitely a must see sight in Kutaisi.

Wonderful cathedral and one of the old churches. The current construction is sort of mixed with the new structure added to support the existing one and stands out .the view front the mount of the town below is awesome

The Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi is one of Georgia’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 11th century during the reign of King Bagrat III, it stands proudly on Ukimerioni Hill, offering stunning panoramic views of the city below. Although it suffered heavy damage over the centuries, its recent restoration has revived much of its original beauty. The mix of ancient stonework and modern touches makes it a fascinating place to visit both for its historical importance and its peaceful atmosphere. Definitely a must-see in Kutaisi!

Prometheus Cave Natural Monument, also known as Kumistavi Cave, is a vast limestone cave located 21km from Kutaisi in Tsqaltubo, Georgia. The cave stretches about 11 km in total, with 1060m open to visitors and features 22 chambers, six of which are accessible to tourists. Visitors can embark on an easy walk through the cave illuminated by multi-colored LEDs that highlight its stunning stalactites and stalagmites.
It was an enjoyable experience, taking about an hour to explore the entire cave. Be ready for walking and climbing stairs. No jacket was needed during our July-August visit, as the cave was cool and refreshing. Aim to be at the front of the queue to better hear the guide, as groups can include up to 100 people.
Awesome L — Google review
Relatively enjoyable experience, it takes about an hour to complete the guided tour through the cave. The tour I was on spoke the information In Georgian, English and then Russian which I feel was too much. It would be better to split into language groups which would make the groups more manageable…there must have been 60 people on the one I was on. The cave itself is very beautiful though and the pathways are well kept. Well worth visiting, just go in the morning and on a weekday when it’s quieter!
Ellie S — Google review
Well-presented cave with good atmosphere Prometheus Cave is worth the visit if you're in Kutaisi. The cave itself is impressive, but what really elevates it is how they've set it up. Each hall has its own music and lighting that changes as you move through. It's not overdone—actually adds to the experience rather than feeling gimmicky. Made viewing each section more engaging. The formations are solid, well-lit so you can actually see the details. Walkways are in good condition, easy to navigate. At the end, there's an optional boat ride out of the cave for an additional 20 Lari. I took it and enjoyed it—nice way to finish the tour rather than just walking back out. Tour moves at a reasonable pace. Not rushed, but doesn't drag either. Good value for what you get. Would recommend.
Jun S — Google review
Prometheus Cave is a stunning natural site. The walk through the cave takes you past incredible rock formations, all beautifully lit and well-maintained. The inside is cool and refreshing, especially in the summer. If you get cold easily, a light jacket is a good idea. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes — the walk is long but enjoyable. At the end of the cave, there’s a short boat ride that adds a fun touch, although it doesn’t last more than a few minutes. After exiting, you’ll find a small supermarket for refreshments, and a shuttle bus takes you back to the main entrance. There, you can enjoy traditional food or shop for small souvenirs. As for the guided tour, it felt a bit rushed. We didn’t get much time to pause for photos unless we were okay falling behind. The guide spoke English, but it was hard to follow due to the fast pace and overlapping noise from other groups. A slower delivery or separate tours by language would improve the experience and help everyone enjoy the cave more fully. We used the Maxim app for transportation — it was cheaper and quicker than Bolt in this area. Overall, it’s a must-visit in the Kutaisi region, but the tour style could be improved.
Abdurrahman — Google review
The Prometheus Caves in Georgia are a breathtaking natural wonder that invite visitors into a world sculpted by time. Located near Kutaisi, these limestone caves are filled with stunning stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers, and shimmering lakes that create an almost otherworldly atmosphere. Colorful lighting carefully illuminates the pathways, highlighting the intricate rock formations and amplifying their natural beauty without diminishing their authenticity. The guided tours offer fascinating insights into the cave’s geology and its discovery, making the experience both educational and awe-inspiring. For those seeking a touch of adventure, the underground boat ride through the final stretch of the cave adds a magical sense of exploration. The Prometheus Caves remind every visitor of nature’s artistry and the quiet grandeur hidden beneath the earth’s surface.
Darwin D — Google review
This place could have been incredible, but we expected a bit more. The cave itself is breathtaking, yet the guide rushed through it, played the same music on repeat while watching videos on her phone (???), and gave minimal commentary that only repeated the information boards. The boat ride lasted maybe two minutes and was so fast you barely had time to take in the cave or the light installations. With some investment in the surrounding facilities and proper training for guides, this site could easily attract large numbers of tourists because it is worth it.
Eva — Google review
The caves are a natural wonder. The different formations underground are mesmerizing and it's a 1.4km walk on a cemented track once underground. The track is a bit wet so be sure to wear proper comfortable shoes that are tough to get wet. There are no exists midway and the tour takes about an bit over an hour to complete. There are 6 main halls with each having its own significance.

The Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography, located in Mestia, Georgia, was established in 1936. It houses a remarkable collection of over 4000 exhibits including medieval religious icons, manuscripts, jewelry, military equipment, textiles, and ethnographic objects that depict the life of Old Svaneti. The museum's highlights include the Adysh Gospels and ancient samples of Svan fabric and pottery.
One of the must visit places in Mestia Svaneti. With friendly staffs , eventhough they cannot speak English fluently, but they try to help you with information that might you need. Modern and clean museum.

The museum is relatively small and doesn’t have a lot to see, but it’s still worth a quick visit. The entrance fee of 20 GEL for tourists is quite affordable. The interior is modernly decorated and makes for an enjoyable walk through. It’s a pleasant space, though not packed with exhibits. The location is also convenient, as it’s not far from the center of Mestia, making it easy to drop by if you’re in the area.

A great way to understand the culture of the Svaneti region of Georgia. The museum is a great walk through and very well maintained with artefacts dating back centuries to give you a deep insight into the people of Georgia. Highly recommended if you have the time to spare and learn something quickly. The reception area has a large cafe with wifi and you can take a break if you are tired.

It's actually 20 Lari to get in not 7, but that said I was very impressed. Most importantly it's got AC throughout, and the exhibitions are informative with English translations. However they do love a tiny font combined with some signs at ground level. There's also good toilets, a cloakroom (that could fit a large backpack), and a cafe with the most comfortable sofas. Worth a visit for sure.

The Okatse Canyon Visitor Centre is a stunning natural attraction in Georgia, featuring suspended boardwalks that offer breathtaking views of the verdant river canyon, waterfalls, and cliffs. It's an ideal day trip from Kutaisi, where you can also visit the Gelati monastery and Prometheus underground cave. The visitor center offers a few hours of walking amidst beautiful scenery, but if you prefer a shorter visit or are with family and kids, you can head directly to the Hanging Path entrance.
Absolutely phenomenal place. If you are able, consider walking, not using cab. In the morning during spring place is rather empty and you can take your time to enjoy the view. For me only flaw is that smoking is alliwed, but it is popular in the whole country so I do not blame the park.
Marta S — Google review
The views from the bridges are spectacular! Definitely worth a visit. The walk is not long — only the first part is a bit scary, as you walk on a perforated walkway. The whole experience takes less than 30 minutes. Advice about the road there: There is NO NEED to hire a driver or to walk the way. After buying tickets at the visitor center, drive your car a little way back along the road you came from. Soon, you will see a sign to the left for "Okatse Canyon", and a paved road will take you all the way to the starting point. Any vehicle can go there. We hired a driver and paid 70 GEL — totally unnecessary. Anyone can drive the road. It's narrow, but not a problem.
Liat L — Google review
The place is closed, no information why and when will be open. Getting here wasn’t simple, fallow the road signs and don’t be scared about route there, it’s heavily damaged at some places… by the time you will be going there maybe will be fixed. Edit at the 30.03.2025 I went there again and this time was open. From the cash desk to the entrance to the canyon you have a walk that will take about an hour. In a canyon is path that will take around 30 minutes. At the end of the trial you can take taxi back to the visitors center or walk back. I’m walking fast so whole path took me 2h. In average people spent there around 3h. If you are in Kutaisi or near by, it’s worth to visit it. Ticket cost 20gel
Jacek M — Google review
Beautiful route to the canyon and walking above it revels great view. There are many stairs along the trail. We've done the walking from the visitors center, but it is also possible to reach by car to the begining of the canyon itself. Highly recommended!
Barak L — Google review
Lady at reception barely speaks English and is hard to understand that actually you need to walk 2.5km to the actual canyon where your tickets will be checked. Then the actual canyon walk starts. So it’s a steep 7km hike that can take you 3h. There is an option to stop directly at the canyon by car and skip these 2.5km of nonsense walk in a forest full of pigs and horses. We took a local guy waiting at the end of the actual canyon with a Lada Niva for 60 lari to take us back to the visitor center. This saved us like 1.5-2h going back. Careful with the decisions :) The canyon itself is really nice.
Iveto0oo — Google review
The canyon boasts lovely views of the river below. There are quite a lot of steps involved. At the visitor center they will try to get you to rent a driver to take you to the actual canyon trail start. DO NOT get a driver. Overpriced and totally unnecessary. Even the ticket counter will warn you that the roda is very narrow but as you can see its quite a comfortable (and very short) drive.
Nektarios D — Google review
Great place. Newly made attraction but very nice view. It's worth to take a taxi back after the hike as it's uphill. We managed to get down the price to 20lari for a car from 40. Also be careful of Google maps. They don't work correctly if you are coming from Prometheus Cave (05.2025) and because of some reason the only proper road is avoided by the algorithms. Follow the road that's available on Street view like on my photos! Other roads are off-road!
Michał K — Google review
An incredible experience! Highly recommended. Lots of stars and about a 45 minute walk from the visitor center to the canyon. We took a car back which was a fun ride that costs us 25 Lari.

(Translated by Google) Hi all. Just a place where there are several springs with mineral water, which is full of iron. I didn't like the taste of the water itself. But this place, which was called the “Narzan Valley”, is quite suitable for walking here for 20-30 minutes. There are several cafes that serve good food, and there is an impromptu market where you can buy something you need. ;-)

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place, it is very interesting to see how water comes out of the depths of the earth! The guide showed us How to Breathe Narzan, it “sticks” cool😀) I would also like to say separately about the mini-markets nearby (which I usually don’t like and avoid) - how I regret that I bought only one set of teas and 1 pair of socks! Guys, my aunt recommended me thin socks made of goat wool, but we were in a hurry and I didn’t take it, it was a shame! How useful they would be to me in the Urals 😭. I only bought thick, beautiful ones, I sit in them in the office, I remember them with warmth❤️ (Original)

(Translated by Google) Interesting place with water sources. There are only 4 water sources, the difference is in the carbonation of the amount of iron in the water. The first source has the most carbonated water and at the same time quite tasty. In the second, it’s like that, in the third, for long-term storage for no more than 5 days, then the ox will not be so useful, because it precipitates. Water should be stored without air, as a reaction occurs and water with air precipitates faster. At the fourth source, the water is practically gas-free and has a minimal content of minerals, suitable for more pleasant consumption, but it is less interesting in taste. The water in November was not very cold and it was pleasant to drink. In the clearing you can buy containers for collecting water, as well as handicrafts.

Martvili Canyon, located in the Samegrelo region of Georgia, is a popular destination despite its remote location. The canyon features emerald green mossy trees, towering 70-meter high rock walls, cascading waterfalls, and turquoise-blue natural pools. Visitors can take a boat ride to experience the stunning views of the canyon or swim in the fresh clear waters near a huge waterfall.
This is a place where you can admire an amazing masterpiece of nature. You can walk along the well-maintained paths along the canyon's banks - 800-900 meters (price 20 GEL per person). You can also enter the depths of the canyon by inflatable boats and view the other side of the canyon from the river 350 meters (price 20 GEL per person). Lovers of extreme sensations can travel by zipline and look at the canyon from above (price 70 GEL per person).
Giorgi G — Google review
We started the day at Martvili Canyon a beautiful place, very scenic, but quite touristy compared to other spots we’ve visited in Georgia. On the way in, there are “parking helpers” trying to wave you into lots before the entrance. Tip: smile, say thank you, and keep driving all the way down to the main entrance it’s much more convenient. We took the rubber boat ride, which was lovely but very short. Entrance fee is 20 GEL for adults, free for kids under 6, and 20 GEL for children aged 6 and above. The views are definitely worth seeing once, but the overall experience felt a bit too commercialized and crowded for our taste.

It was among the best places I visited in my Georgia trip. We went there in the end of August month and found the place very soothing and rich. Definitely worth visiting. Don't stop in the parking areas on top, even if you are asked to, go down the slope. Options include zipline, walking in the canyon path, kayak ride (10mn). Prices: Adults 40 gel for the canyon and kayak (32 gel with georgian ID), kids 25 gel. The area is very well preserved.

An amazingly beautiful place, worth a visit. A piece of paradise. There is a short route, most of which is in the shade, where you can watch beautiful waterfalls and birds chirping. There is also a quiet and peaceful rubber boat ride for about half an hour there and back, where you can enjoy the beauty, peace and tranquility of the place. It was worth driving all the way here.

Definitely worth the price. 20 GEL for entry and 20 for the boat ride. Very nice walk along the river..

Martvili Canyon, located in Georgia’s Samegrelo region, is one of the most beautiful natural spots in the area. Known for its turquoise waters, waterfalls, and lush greenery, it’s definitely worth seeing, even if the visit itself is relatively short — around 20 minutes for the main view. Swimming is not allowed here, despite some misleading assumptions, and unfortunately, it’s hard to get clear directions from locals. Many will try to sell jeep rides for around 160 GEL to reach other spots, which I found overpriced. We skipped the nearby waterfall for this reason. English is not widely spoken, and some staff at the ticket office can be quite rude — when asked if they spoke English, one replied “only Georgian” in an unwelcoming manner. Ticket options combine activities such as a boat tour + canyon visit, or boat + canyon + zipline. A ticket for only the entrance isn’t really worth it — the boat tour is what makes the experience memorable. There can be a bit of waiting time for the boats, but once on the water, the canyon’s scenery is beautiful. That said, the place gets very crowded, and the noise from visitors can sometimes overshadow the sounds of nature. Still, it’s a scenic spot and, despite the downsides, I would recommend experiencing it at least once.
