This monastery is located in a very beautiful place. We reached there in the evening, and by the time we arrived, the monastery was almost closed. So, we just took some pictures from outside. It was truly a beautiful sight. From there, we could see a Buddha statue at a distance.

Its a very beautiful monastery. Very quiet and silent place for worshiping Lord Gautam Buddha. It has training and a learning center for studies on buddhism . Students from the age of 5 and above are allowed to take admission here and training.
Arvind K — Google review
This monastery located on the upper reaches of Bomdila is also known as Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling Monastery. It was built in 1965 by the 12th reincarnate of Tsona Gontse Rinpoche. Found the monastery to be very vibrant and active as it houses a large number of boys and young men who are being imparted training to become lamas. As this monastery is located on an elevated area, it offers an aerial view of Bomdila.
Abunaser I — Google review
On the way back to Guwahati from Tawang, we decided to stay at Bomdila due low visibility on road. In the morning, we made a small detour to Bomdilla Monastery. Some festivals/ prayers were going on at the morning (8.30 AM). The students there offered us a local tibetan sweet delicacy made out of pasta and yak cheese. Then they offered us salty tea with yak milk. The experience was surreal.
Arju K — Google review
Bomdila Monastery, located in the serene hills of Arunachal Pradesh, is a peaceful and spiritually uplifting place that beautifully reflects Tibetan Buddhist culture. Also known as the Gontse Gaden Rabgyel Lling Monastery, it offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayas and the Bomdila valley below. The monastery’s architecture is vibrant and intricate, with colorful murals and prayer flags that create a tranquil, sacred atmosphere. Visitors often praise the calmness of the place — it’s less crowded than many other monasteries, making it ideal for quiet reflection. The monks are welcoming, and if you visit during prayer sessions, the rhythmic chants and sounds of the drums are truly mesmerizing. Overall, Bomdila Monastery is not just a religious site but also a cultural gem — a perfect stop for anyone seeking peace, beauty, and a glimpse into the spiritual life of Arunachal Pradesh

Bomdila Monastery, also called Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling, is a beautiful Buddhist monastery in Arunachal Pradesh. Built in 1965, it’s known for its peaceful vibe, prayer hall, Buddha temple, and monk school. It resembles the Tsona Gontse Monastery in South Tibet and holds great importance for Mahayana Buddhists.

************ Om Ma-ni Pad-me Hum ***************** Visited Bomdila Buddhist Monastery during my solo trip to Bomdila while staying at the Circuit House. Every evening after working remotely, I would take a 40-minute trek up to the monastery, and it quickly became the highlight of my stay. Perched on top of a mountain, the monastery offers a breathtaking view of the valley below and an atmosphere of absolute peace and serenity. The quiet surroundings, the gentle breeze, and the sound of prayer flags fluttering in the wind created a sense of calm that’s hard to describe. It was the perfect place to unwind, reflect, and find inner stillness after a long day. Truly a must-visit spot in Bomdila — not just for its beauty, but for the sense of peace it brings to the soul.

Agnigarh

Mentioned on
1 list
Park
Nature & Parks
Agnigarh is a famous hillside area with a rich history rooted in Hindu mythology. The park features numerous historic sculptures and offers breathtaking viewpoints of the surrounding area, including the Brahmaputra river. However, visitors should be prepared to climb several steps to reach the top, which may be difficult for elderly individuals. Once at the summit, visitors can enjoy a small park and garden while admiring a bird's eye view from the watchtower.
This fortress is at such a beautiful location. View of Brahmaputra at evening hour must be breathtaking. I visited in the noon so it was quite warm but the garden is worth spending time and knowing the history of king Bana and his daughter Usha. Sculpture representation of historic events is done in a nice way. Entry ticket is 30rs per head. Parking is 30rs. About 500 steps to climb up to go till the top. The climb is worth..
Shweta K — Google review
If Romeo and Juliet had a Northeast Indian reboot with a fiery twist, it would be set atop the Agnigarh Hill — a place where love quite literally burned bright. Welcome to the iconic Agnigarh Fort in Tezpur, Assam — where history meets mythology with a dash of Bollywood-level drama and panoramic views to boot. What's in a Name? ‘Agni’ means fire, and ‘Garh’ means fortress. Put them together and voilà – you get the "Fire Fortress". Built to keep lovers apart (yes, seriously), this hill was supposedly surrounded by perpetual flames, making it the medieval version of a “do not disturb” sign. According to local legends from the Mahabharata, this is where Princess Usha, daughter of demon king Banasura, was imprisoned after she fell in love with Aniruddha, the grandson of Lord Krishna. Daddy dearest didn’t approve (obviously), so he locked her up in this lava-ringed love prison. Because nothing says “no boyfriend” like a fire moat! Mythology + Romance = Must Visit Today, there’s no fire — just stairs (a lot of them!) — that take you to the top where the fort ruins sit like a wise old sage. There are beautifully sculpted statues that narrate the whole Usha-Aniruddha saga, perfect for that “deep in thought” selfie. And the view? Oh, the view! You get a sweeping panorama of the majestic Brahmaputra River, the town of Tezpur, and if you're lucky, a cloud photobomb or two. It's like nature gave Agnigarh a cinematic filter. Fun Facts to Brag About: - Agnigarh is one of the oldest mythologically significant sites in Assam. - It has a spiral staircase pathway with murals and storytelling sculptures – basically, Game of Thrones meets Amar Chitra Katha. - The spot is popular with couples – ironic, considering it was built to prevent romance. Final Verdict Agnigarh is not just a fort, it’s an emotion. Equal parts romantic and rebellious, it's ideal for history buffs, hopeless romantics, and sweaty trekkers alike.

Historical hill with a view point offering a scenic view of the Brahmaputra. Well maintained. But no online payment only cash (atleast when we went)
Mango P — Google review
Assam's one of the important historical place. The park was well maintained when we visited this place. Lord krishna is associated with this place. Nice experience. We could witnessed the beauty of river Brahmaputra.❤️
Nitul K — Google review
It is a historical place from which the name of the city “Tezpur” derived. It is said that this is place where the daughter of King Banasura was kept isolated. Later the war between Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva took place, which led the name of the place. Anirudha, the grandson of Lord Krishna was being attracted by the Prince Usha, got married later. King Banasura (who was the devotee of Lord Shiva) arrested him on hearing this news. It led the war between Banasura and Krishna. However being the devotee of Shiva, Lord Shiva came to rescue and it was place of blood when the war had started between Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna. Lord Vishnu came to end this war later. The entry fee is Rs 30 for adults and Rs 10 for minors. However, there is no maintenance, no proper description neither clean properly. The authority should take action to keep the sentiments and mythological beliefs intact. It has a watch tower from where the city and the surroundings, including majestic view of River Bramhaputra can be seen. But still need proper maintenance!

Agnigarh (অগ্নিগড়) is one of the most beautiful and historically rich tourist spots in Tezpur, Assam. The place is deeply connected with the famous love story of Princess Usha, daughter of King Bana, and Aniruddha, the grandson of Lord Krishna. According to legend, King Bana built a fortress surrounded by fire to keep Usha away from Aniruddha, and that is how the place got its name – “Agnigarh” (Fort of Fire). Today, when you visit Agnigarh, you can still feel the essence of those stories through the artistic sculptures and statues built along the pathways. These sculptures beautifully depict the legendary tale, making the visit not only scenic but also culturally meaningful. The hilltop location provides breathtaking panoramic views of the Brahmaputra River and Tezpur town. 🌿 The climb is not very difficult, and the pathways are well-maintained. It’s a peaceful spot to enjoy nature, take photographs, or simply sit and relax. During the evening, especially around sunset, the atmosphere becomes magical. I found the area very clean and visitor-friendly, with enough space to walk and spend time with family or friends. It’s also a great place for students and tourists who want to learn about Assam’s mythology and heritage. Overall, Agnigarh is not just a tourist attraction but a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. A must-visit place in Tezpur for anyone who wants to explore the heritage of Assam. – Priyanuj Hazarika (Local Guide)

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is a truly delightful destination for nature lovers. Famous for its one-horned rhinoceroses, it also offers sightings of wild boars, buffaloes, deer, and a vibrant variety of birds. It's a serene, lush retreat that's perfect for anyone who enjoys wildlife and the tranquility of nature. Beyond the rhinos, the sanctuary is teeming with diverse wildlife, including wild boars, Asiatic buffaloes, barking deer, and leopards, though the latter are more elusive. Pobitora is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to over 200 species of resident and migratory birds. Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, located in Guwahati, India, is a renowned destination for wildlife enthusiasts and families. Established in 1957, this expansive sanctuary houses a diverse range of exotic animals and serves as a crucial conservation site for endangered species such as the Indian rhinoceros and white tiger. Visitors can also explore the botanical garden's extensive collection of indigenous and exotic plants that enhance the lush landscape.
One of the best zoo I have ever visited. The zoo was quite huge and has large variety of animal and species. Really loved it. It will take approximately 3-4 hours to see the entire zoo by walk. This zoo will definitely give you real wildlife vibe in the mid of forest.
Hriday P — Google review
Visited this zoo during with high expectations and I was disappointed to see it in a bad condition. I went with high expectations because this zoo is located in a big city and I thought that it would be filled with various unique animals but I was disappointed to see only a few deers, hog deers, snakes and some other common animals. Many cages were empty with no animals inside. The price of the ticket is ₹33 for adults and you can book it online as well. I have visited Patna zoo which I think was much better than this place. Some construction work was also going on inside the zoo, maybe after the construction is complete this place will become great but for now I think It's best to avoid this place if you are a tourist roaming around Guwahati.

Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden » NaparksThe name of the main zoo in Assam is the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, located in Guwahati. It is the largest zoo in northeastern India and is also referred to as the Guwahati Zoo. Explore Assam State Zoo Botanical Garden: See kangaroos, white deer, zebras, birds, lions, tigers, hippos, and crocodiles. Assam State Zoo is a nice place to visit with family and kids. It has a good variety of animals, birds, and reptiles, and the botanical garden adds to the greenery. The place is spacious and gives a natural vibe, but maintenance could be improved in some areas. Food and drinking water options are limited inside . Overall, a good spot for a day outing in Guwahati.

Visited the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden recently, but the experience was quite underwhelming. The zoo is smaller than expected, and many enclosures were empty, which was disappointing. Some parts were under construction, making it difficult to explore properly. We could only see a few common animals. The place has potential but needs better maintenance, more animals, and proper management to attract visitors again.

Ticket Fare: Rs. 33/- for adults. Online ticket is also available. Same price in both offline and online. Bio toilets available inside this place. I think 2 to 3 hours needed to cover the entire area. Almost every cells were fulfilled. Really very worthy place. A good place for spending weekend. Remains closed on Friday.
Suman P — Google review
FRIDAY CLOSED The ZOO in Assam was great, but nowadays it seems to be diminishing its valued day by day. On my recent visit to the zoo, I was unable to find any structured system except the bottle returning scheme. The e-carts are very irregular and the roads are very disturbing. The cages were broken and rusted, morever most of the animals were not available. I hope the govt of Assam will take necessary steps to "make the Zoo great again" Positive views can be seen as most of the parts were under construction.
Arindom B — Google review
Visited Assam State Zoo last weekend. Overall a good place to hang out if you love nature and animals. Lot of greenery inside and many animals like tiger, rhino, deer, bear, and different types of birds. The place is peaceful and good for families or friends. But honestly, some areas are not well maintained. Few animal cages looked old and water ponds were dirty in some spots. They should improve that part. Entry ticket is cheap — ₹30 per person, which is worth it. You can also take an electric cart if you don’t want to walk, but walking is better to enjoy the surroundings. Good for a one-time visit in Guwahati. If you’re coming from outside, keep at least 2 hours in hand. Would have given 5 stars if maintenance was better.

Umananda Temple

Umananda Temple, situated on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra River, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built in 1694 AD, it holds great historical significance and is considered one of the most important temples in Assam. Accessible by boat, this serene location attracts visitors from far and wide. The temple hosts the famous Shiva Chaturdasi festival annually, drawing a large number of devotees.
Umananda Temple is located in a small island so you need to have a short ferry ride to go there. Caution: There are 2 or 3 ferry operators and one charges 200 Rupees for the ticket. However, you have to find a government one that costs only 40 Rupees at the time of writing. It is an interesting Shiva temple with Hanuman. Some stair steps should be climbed to visit it. Thus, those in wheelchair and have mobility problems might find it challenging to go there. There are people selling fruits and items for worship. There is also small food place for eating. This is a peaceful area, which is good for meditation.

Umananda Temple — often called the Peacock Island Temple — is one of the most famous and sacred temples in Assam, located right in the middle of the mighty Brahmaputra River in Guwahati. Here’s a complete overview 👇 --- 🛕 Umananda Temple — Overview Location: Peacock Island, in the middle of the Brahmaputra River, Guwahati, Assam Deity: Lord Shiva (Umananda means “the one who is blissful to Uma,” i.e., Goddess Parvati) Built by: King Gadadhar Singha (Ahom Dynasty) in the 17th century Architecture Style: Traditional Assamese stone architecture with exquisite engravings of Hindu deities and motifs --- 🌿 Mythological Significance According to legends, Lord Shiva resided here in the form of Bhayananda. It’s believed that Goddess Parvati (Uma) loved this place, hence the name Umananda. Mythology says that when Shiva reduced Kamadeva (the god of love) to ashes here with his third eye, the hill was named Bhasmakala or Bhasmachal (hill of ashes). --- 🏝️ About Peacock Island The smallest inhabited river island in the world. Named “Peacock Island” by the British because of its shape — resembling a peacock’s outspread feathers when seen from above. Offers a 360° view of the Brahmaputra River and the Guwahati cityscape. --- 🕉️ What to See The main Shiva temple, with a sanctum dedicated to Umananda (Shiva). Intricate carvings of Ganesha, Vishnu, and Surya on the temple walls. Hanuman idols and smaller shrines around the island. A few friendly Golden Langurs, a rare primate species, inhabit the island. The peaceful ambiance and river breeze make it a beautiful spot for prayer and meditation. --- 🚤 How to Reach Nearest City: Guwahati Ferry Point: Uzan Bazaar Ghat or Kachari Ghat Distance: ~1.5 km from the main city center Boat Ride: 10–15 minutes ferry across the Brahmaputra Government ferries and private boats operate daily. Tickets: ₹20–₹50 (one way, depending on type). --- 🕰️ Temple Timings Open: 5:30 AM – 6:00 PM Best Time: Morning and evening (sunrise/sunset views are spectacular) Major Festival: Maha Shivaratri (thousands of devotees visit) Amavasya (New Moon Days) and Mondays are considered auspicious. --- 🌤️ Best Time to Visit October to April: Pleasant weather, clearer river views. Avoid: Monsoon (June–September) — high river levels may disrupt ferry services. --- 📸 Highlights Temple with ancient stone carvings Beautiful river island setting Easy access from Guwahati city Peaceful atmosphere for devotees and tourists alike.
Ashutosh S — Google review
Umananda Temple is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on Peacock Island (Umananda Island) in the Brahmaputra River, near Guwahati, Assam, India. It’s a unique and scenic pilgrimage site with historical and spiritual significance. "Umananda" means "bliss of Uma" (Uma = Goddess Parvati, consort of Shiva) About Peacock Island: Considered the smallest inhabited riverine island in the world. Lush greenery and a peaceful ambience attract both pilgrims and tourists. The island is also known for its population of Golden Langurs, a rare and sacred species. Religious Significance: Local belief: Lord Shiva resided here in meditation and burned Kamadeva (the god of desire) to ashes when he disturbed his penance. Celebrated especially during Shivratri, when large crowds gather. PROS: 1. Scenic Journey & Unique Setting: The boat/ferry ride across the Brahmaputra is often mentioned as the highlight: the river views, the gentle breeze, the sense of leaving the city behind. Being on a small river‑island (Peacock Island) gives a peaceful, secluded feel. Many visitors like the lush greenery and quiet once you’re on the island. 2. Spiritual / Cultural Value: As an old temple founded in the 17th century by Ahom King Gadadhar Singha, it has historical plus religious appeal. The architecture, rock carvings, and small shrines are appreciated. 3. Accessibility & Time Requirement: It doesn’t take very long — a few hours is enough to visit: ferry + temple + walk around the island. The temple is open daily from early morning to evening. 4. Free Entry / Low Cost (if using Govt Ferry): The temple itself has free entry. Government ferries are cheap (≈ ₹ 40 for return) compared to private options. 5. Nature & Wildlife: Presence of Golden Langurs (rare monkeys) on Peacock Island adds to its charm. Many visitors, especially kids, love it. CONS: 1. Crowds & Queues, Especially During Festivals or Peak Times: The ferry sometimes gets very crowded; queue management is weak. Long waits for darshan (entering the sanctum) during busy times. 2. Private Ferries are Expensive / Overpriced: While government ferry is cheap, private operators often charge much more. Some visitors report paying far higher than the fair rate. Sometimes boats run late, or the schedule is not well communicated. Especially if river levels are high or during monsoon. 3. Infrastructure Issues: Ghat / ferry terminals sometime poorly maintained. Stairs to the temple are steep/uneven/slippery. Lack of sufficient amenities: public toilets, drinking water, shade, etc. On the island facilities are minimal. 4. Weather / Season Dependence: Monsoon can make ferry service irregular or unsafe. Heat/humidity & mosquitoes in the later parts of day or evening. OVERALL ASSESSMENT: Umananda Temple gives a good mix of spirituality, nature, and scenic beauty, without requiring a huge investment of time. It’s especially good if: • You enjoy temples & cultural history. • You like being close to nature (river, trees, wildlife). • You have half a day or so to spare in Guwahati. • You go at a non‑peak time (morning, not festivals). For people with mobility issues, or those expecting luxury, it’s less ideal because of stairs, basic facilities, and sometimes crowded paths / boats. TIPS TO MAKE THE VISIT BETTER: • Take the government ferry early in the morning to avoid the crowds and heat. • Wear good footwear (stairs + slippery), carry water, insect repellent. • Check the ferry schedule ahead (especially in monsoon or when river levels fluctuate). • Plan for 2‑3 hours: boat ride (there & back), temple visit, walking around island. • Avoid festival days if you want a peaceful experience or else go in the festive hours if you want to see the place in its full festive vibe. • Carry some snacks if possible, but also be ready that food & water might be overpriced on the island.

Visiting Umananda Temple was truly a mesmerizing experience, especially during sunset. The view of the sun going down over the Brahmaputra, with its beautiful shades reflecting on the river, creates an unforgettable scene. The temple itself is located on a small island, adding to its charm you can reach it easily by a short and peaceful ferry ride. A perfect spot for both spiritual peace and natural beauty!

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Perched atop Nilachal hill in Guwahati, Assam, India, the Maa Kamakhya Temple is an ancient Hindu pilgrimage site dating back to the 7th century. It is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya and is considered one of the most sacred places of pilgrimage in India. The temple is part of the 51 Shakti Peethas and holds great significance for both Hindus and Tantric worshipers.
Visiting Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati was a deeply spiritual and unforgettable experience. The temple, situated atop Nilachal Hill, offers a serene atmosphere with a breathtaking view of the Brahmaputra River. The energy and divine presence here are truly powerful, and one can instantly feel a sense of peace and devotion. The architecture is ancient and mesmerizing, with intricate carvings that reflect Assam’s rich heritage. The temple is well-managed, and despite the crowds, the darshan was smooth and organized. Local priests and volunteers were very helpful in guiding devotees. My experience of offering prayers and witnessing the rituals felt very pure and soulful. The surroundings are clean, with facilities available for devotees, and shops nearby for prasad and essentials. Kamakhya Temple is not just a place of worship but a sacred journey—one that connects you deeply with the divine mother. A must-visit for anyone traveling to Guwahati. Entry fees 500 waiting time is 4hrs aprx. Without entry fees cant visit the main sanctum sanctorum however one can have a sneak peak darshan from distance.

Maa Kamakhya Temple is a powerful and spiritually enriching place. It sits on Nilachal Hill and offers a beautiful view of Guwahati city. The atmosphere feels truly divine, and the temple architecture is unique. However, the crowd can be heavy, especially during mornings and festivals, so it's better to visit early. You can reach the temple by cab or shared auto from the main city. Despite the rush, the experience feels peaceful and memorable.

Visiting Maa Kamakhya Temple was a truly divine and unforgettable experience. The temple, perched atop the Nilachal Hill, offers not only a deeply spiritual atmosphere but also breathtaking views of Guwahati city and the Brahmaputra River. The energy around the temple is powerful and peaceful at the same time — you can genuinely feel the divine presence of Maa Kamakhya. The priests and temple staff are helpful and guide you through the rituals with devotion. Despite being a popular pilgrimage site, the surroundings are clean, organized, and well-managed. Whether you go for spiritual reasons or cultural exploration, this temple will leave you with a sense of peace and positivity. ⭐ 5/5 — A must-visit for anyone coming to Guwahati. Jai Maa Kamakhya!

It is better to purchase the VIP tickets online which opens 7 days before. It is being sold out immediately. Better to purchase at 12.01 am 7 days before. It costs Rs.500 per head. If you go by 7 am, you can come out in 2 hours after Darshan. Tuesdays and Saturdays, there will be huge rush. The temple is maintained privately, I believe. The most powerful Shakthi Peet. Must visit at least once.

Maa Kamakhya Temple” – The Devi Mahatmya : Digital Temple of ...The Kamakhya Temple is a sacred Hindu temple in Guwahati, Assam, dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, believed to be the spot where the goddess Sati's yoni (womb) fell. A significant center for tantric practices, the temple is most famous for its annual Ambubachi festival, which celebrates the goddess's feminine power and fertility.

🌺🙏🌺 জয় মা কামাখ্যা 🌺🙏🌺 One of the oldest sati pith among the 51st sati piths of the goddess Maa Parvati. The temple was situated on the Nilachal hills outside Guwahati City, Assam in Kamakhya Locality. The main temple was built in an ancient structure and some new structures were built later in front of the main temple 🙏 One can purchase VIP tickets for ₹ 500 per person to visit the গর্ভগৃহ... This was very much disgusting‼️ The temple management authority should take some appropriate actions to avoid this and open the main temple, গর্ভগৃহ, for all the devotees. They should also look at the cleanliness of the temple premises and queue management very seriously‼️

It's a divine place to worship. I felt something very strong here. I stood in the general que for more than 5 hrs still I felt happy from inside after having glimpse of mata.Jai maa kamakhya🙏

Visiting Maa Kamakhya was a journey of spiritual awakening. Nestled in Simanchal Hills in Assam it is one of the important shakipeeths. You can either get general ticket which is a bit costly or you can get VIP tickets which are available at ₹501. You can get VIP tickets online as well but you have to book it in advance at least a week ago as they sell very fast. The worship items are sold at shops located outside the temple and you can also keep your shoes here. It took us 13 hours to worship Maa Kamakhya but it was totally worth it.

Zangtopelri temple is located in Phuentsholing town which is the India and Bhutan border and the gateway to Bhutan. The temple is small but very photogenic with lovely Bhutanese architecture. On the ground level, there are statues of Guru and his eight manifestations. On the second floor, there are eight Bodhisattvas and statues of Avalokiteshwara and Zhubdrung Ngawang Namgyal while on the top floor, the main statue is of Buddha Amitabha. The temple is surrounded by a small ground which makes it even more beautiful.

🌸 Zangtopelri Temple, Phuentsholing, Bhutan I had the opportunity to visit this peaceful temple twice — once in December 2022 and again in May 2023. Each visit offered a different flavor of calm and beauty. In winter, the crisp air and prayer chants added to the spiritual aura, while in May, the lush greenery around the courtyard felt vibrant and alive. After a gentle rain during my first visit, I stumbled upon a quaint coffee shop "Kizom Cafe" just beside the temple courtyard — its Western classic ambience was a surprising delight. The warm cup of coffee, paired with the tranquil views of the temple, made for a perfect moment of stillness and reflection. A must-visit place for those seeking inner peace, cultural depth, and an unexpectedly good coffee stop.

Zangdokpalri Temple is a peaceful and alluring location that draws tourists from all walks of life to Phuentsholing, Bhutan. This lovely monastery, which is close to the India-Bhutan gate and across from Kizom Café, provides a tranquil haven from the busy city life. The temple is a significant religious and spiritual landmark because it is a replica of the mythical Copper Mountain Heaven, a sacred symbol in Bhutanese culture. The serene ambiance of Zangdokpalri Temple is among its most remarkable features. A feeling of peace descends upon you as soon as you walk in, creating the ideal setting for introspection and tranquility. Since there is no ticketing system in place, anyone who wants to visit can do so. In order to gain spiritual merits, devout people frequently come here to recite mantras while walking around the temple. Older devotees frequently make prostrations, which attests to the temple's profound religious significance. Not only is Zangdokpalri Temple a place of worship for devotees. Both locals and tourists use the nearby park as a recreational area. Young people are frequently observed creating TikTok videos or just taking in the serene surroundings while seated on the benches. Additionally, friends and couples are increasingly using the temple grounds as a meeting place. The lively ambiance is enhanced by the numerous stores that throng the area surrounding the temple. Convenient refreshments are available for visitors at a small shop on the right side of the monastery, complete with a vending machine. Zangdokpalri Temple is a must-see in Phuentsholing, whether you're looking for spiritual comfort or just a lovely, tranquil place to unwind. It's an intriguing destination because of its distinctive fusion of spirituality, culture, and recreational appeal.

Buxa Tiger Reserve

National park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Spacious jungle park featuring a range of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, bison & civets.
Buxa Tiger Reserve is a rich and vibrant sanctuary that offers a true taste of the wild. Like every tiger reserve, it’s divided into three zones—core, buffer, and transition. While visitors are allowed access mainly to the transition zone and parts of the buffer zone, the experience is still incredibly rewarding. The area is known for frequent sightings of majestic elephants, graceful deer, and the powerful Indian Gaur (Bison). For birders, Buxa is a dream destination—if you’re lucky enough to find a fruiting tree, it transforms into a paradise of chirps and colors. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or a casual nature lover, Buxa offers moments that stay with you. Just remember: nature is to be admired, not disturbed. Respect the rules, respect the wildlife, and let the forest thrive.

Buxa Tiger Reserve, located in the Dooars region of North Bengal, is a hidden gem for nature lovers, trekkers, and wildlife enthusiasts. The dense forests, hilly terrain, and serene rivers create a magical atmosphere that feels far from the busy world. The reserve is home to elephants, leopards, bison, deer, and many species of birds and butterflies. While tiger sightings are rare, the untouched natural beauty and peaceful surroundings make it a memorable experience. Buxa Fort is one of the main attractions — a historical site nestled deep in the forest that can be reached through a scenic trek from Santalabari. The trail offers breathtaking views, fresh air, and a close connection with nature. Villages like Jayanti, Raimatang, and Lepchakha are also worth visiting for their quiet charm and eco-tourism homestays. The forest department and local guides are friendly and helpful, and safaris are well-organized. It’s best to visit between November and April when the weather is pleasant and the forest is most vibrant. Buxa offers a perfect blend of history, adventure, and tranquility — ideal for those seeking a peaceful yet thrilling escape in the lap of nature.

Jaldapara National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
National park comprised of savannah & forests that are home to rhinos, elephants, leopards & more.
went for the 8:30 am jeep safari in November, when we were advised that early morning and late evening safaris are better for animal sighting. Since my main motive was to see the forest, was saddened to see how much pressure both the driver and guide were under to find larger animals. The amount of information the guide had was a pleasant surprise, as was the patient attitude - a vast contrast to the Corbett bullies. Although the park is less well known, it has managed to integrate well with the local villages and kept the forest relatively untouched. was a delight to experience as a less commercialized gem in conservation efforts

Peacocks are very common. But if you are lucky you may witness Elephants, Bisons, deer & One horned Rhino. The safari ride and its guide will ensure that you get the best possible experience of the safari. The guide will just go with you, they don't share much about the jungle and the animals. The tour also includes the folk dance of the Boro tribe in the end, which would give a musical ending to the safari. The Safari route is not in the dense forest so you may miss the jungle vive. Safari starts at 6 am in the morning. 3 slots are there in the morning and also 3 slots for afternoon from 2 pm to 4 pm. Elephant safari booking done the day before safari at 6 pm at the ticket counter. No online Booking available for any safari. For afternoon safari you need to reach the ticket counter at least before 2-3 hours. ticket booking time is like - for 2 pm safari counter issues ticket at 1 pm, and so for 3 pm & 4 pm safari counter opens at 2 pm and 3 pm respectively. A photocopy of any Id prove required for all the persons for safari ticket. One person for one car needs to be in the line for booking, ( in one car 6 people can go. Children above 4 years need a ticket). total cost 1750 including guide for one jipsy car. For tribal dance they charge 50/ person that you can opt out.

One of the attractions of Dooars. There are several gates where you can book jungle safari, both online and offline. The elephant safari is done from Holong gate, if you book it online. The safari takes place in a breathtaking forest area, offering a chance to spot an array of wildlife, including bison, rhinos, deer, peacock and more. For a responsible and enjoyable safari experience, please maintain silence to avoid disturbing the wildlife and keep the forest area clean by refraining from littering.

It's a great historical palace in the 'City of Palaces' Coochbehar Royal Palace is a stunning historical landmark that served as the residence of the royal family of Coochbehar. The palace is known for its majestic architecture and well-maintained surroundings. The entry fee is quite reasonable at just ₹25 per person. One of the highlights is the expansive front garden where visitors can relax and enjoy quality time with their groups or partners by sitting on the lush grass. The palace also houses a museum that offers a glimpse into the rich heritage and culture of the royal family, which is definitely worth visiting. While photography is allowed in the palace premises, it is strictly prohibited inside the museum. The palace remains open to visitors during the day and closes at 5:30 PM. Overall, it's a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, and peaceful surroundings.

The Cooch Behar Palace, also known as the Cooch Behar Rajbari, is a magnificent architectural landmark located in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. Built in 1887 during the reign of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan of the Koch dynasty, the palace showcases the grandeur of the era and reflects the royal family's affinity for European architectural styles. 🏛️ Architectural Marvel Design & Structure: The palace was designed by architect F. Barckley in the Italian Renaissance style, inspired by Buckingham Palace in London. It is a double-story brick structure covering an area of approximately 51,309 square feet, with dimensions of 395 feet in length and 296 feet in width. The building stands 4 feet above the ground and features arcaded verandahs on both floors, with piers arranged alternately in single and double rows. Durbar Hall: At the center of the palace is the Durbar Hall, accessible through a projected porch. The hall boasts a beautifully shaped metal dome, 124 feet high from the ground, topped by a cylindrical louver-type ventilator. The dome's interior is adorned with stepped patterns and supported by Corinthians columns, adding to the hall's elegance. Interior Rooms: The palace comprises over 50 rooms, including the Drawing Room, Dining Hall, Billiard Room, Library, Bedrooms, Dressing Rooms, Toshakhana (treasure house), Ladies' Gallery, and Vestibules. These rooms once housed various artifacts and precious objects, many of which have been lost over time. 🕰️ Historical Significance Originally, the palace had three stories, but the top floor was destroyed during the 1897 Assam earthquake. The structure we see today is a restoration of what remained after the disaster. The palace reflects the Koch kings' acceptance of European idealism without abandoning their Indian heritage. 🖼️ Museum and Tourist Attraction Today, the Cooch Behar Palace functions as a museum, offering visitors insights into the region's royal history and culture. The museum houses various exhibits related to the Koch dynasty and the palace's history. Surrounded by lush gardens, the palace provides a serene ambiance, making it a popular spot for tourists and history enthusiasts. 📍 Location and Accessibility The palace is situated in the heart of Cooch Behar town, making it easily accessible by road and rail. The nearest operational airport is Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, approximately 151 km away. Cooch Behar railway station serves as the primary rail link to the town. Timing - 10 am to 5 pm Ticket price - 20 / head NEED MAINTENANCE OF THE GARDEN

A Royal Family Day at Cooch Behar Palace Today, my family and I had the absolute pleasure of spending a full day at the magnificent Cooch Behar Palace, and it was an experience we thoroughly enjoyed. From the moment we laid eyes on its impressive exterior to exploring every intricate detail inside, the palace captivated us completely. This vast palace, a stunning example of European architecture from the Italian Renaissance, was built by Koch Nripendranarayan in 1887. Its sheer scale is impressive, with the two-story brick building (originally three, damaged in the 1897 earthquake and then renovated) covering an area of 4768.5 square meters. We particularly admired its facade, adorned with elegant Corinthian columns, both single and paired. The central long portico, serving as the main entrance, leads into the grand courtroom. The enormous Corinthian columns here, inspired by St. Peter's Church in Rome, with their four arched arches above, are truly breathtaking. The twelve-cornered dome, featuring a beautiful light window and intricately crafted small chambers, is a marvel of design. Below, the circular hanging balcony and twelve windows offer unique perspectives. We were fascinated by the royal emblem of bravery and glory carved in Bengali marble at the courtroom's center. Every artifact and architectural detail spoke volumes of its rich history. The spires on either side of the main dome further enhance the palace's majestic beauty. It was a truly immersive and educational visit for all of us!

Cooch Behar Royal Palace is truly magnificent! Visiting this place fills you with pride and admiration for our ancestors who built such grandeur through their hard work and struggle. The architecture, history, and peaceful surroundings make it a must-visit heritage site. You can truly feel the royal legacy here
BRK C — Google review
It's a fairly maintained, little crowded palace and its grounds, worth a visit. Some of the museum's artifacts are really impressive, like the 10th century statues or the rather large gun collection. Note: no photography allowed inside the buildings.
Andrzej N — Google review
A huge palace made available by the government for us yet we get to see merely ten percent of the site overall. Three to four rooms are open to view the antiques and royal arsenal. The garden is not well maintained. Despite the shortcomings, it's commendable that we get to see the great architecture and well planned road system, Transcending back to the previous century.

We started our journey from Madarihat which is around 100 km away from Samsing/Suntalikhola. We were five persons in the group. One of the main attractions was beautiful tea gardens both the sides in our way to. Samsing. At Suntalikhola you have to take the local car from the spot for the sightscene. They charge you Rs 400 for almost nothing. So we dropped the plan and decided to travel by walk. First we went to hanging bridge. Then started to trek few km up towards muchaki army camp. There is a nice spot to take a look to the beautiful villages in this route. Foods are overpriced, you will find few local restaurants at Suntalikhola stand.

Gorumara National Park

Mentioned on

National park
Nature & Parks
Gorumara National Park is a vast floodplain and forest national park that covers an expansive area of almost 50 square miles. The park houses diverse wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, and leopards. For visitors looking to explore the park, it's recommended to opt for a jungle safari rather than a watch tower Safari. The best time for a jungle safari is during morning slots when chances of spotting an elephant are particularly high.
Review of Garumara Jungle Safari – 20th April Our experience at the Garumara Jungle Safari on the 20th of April was nothing short of incredible. I had the pleasure of going with my team, and it was a day filled with adventure, bonding, and nature at its finest. From the very beginning, everything was well-organized. The forest guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about wildlife. The thrill of venturing into the dense forest, with every turn holding the possibility of spotting something wild, kept us all excited throughout. We were lucky to witness a variety of animals, including deer, peacocks, and even a few elephants in the distance. The sounds of the jungle, the fresh air, and the serenity of nature offered the perfect escape from our usual routines. My team truly enjoyed the experience — from the bumpy jeep ride to the scenic watchtowers, every moment felt special. It was also a great opportunity for us to unwind, connect, and share some laughs in the heart of nature. A big thanks to the team managing the safari — your efforts made this adventure safe, informative, and memorable. Highly recommended for nature lovers and teams looking for a refreshing break together!

This forest is like a rainforest!! As it’s completely different from jaldapara national park! Gorumara forest is a dense forest and completely green!! The scenery really really soothes the soul! In my opinion Must visit this place! And lose yourself in the lap of nature!!

Tourist trap. Through and through. For the Matla Tower: You must pay for a guide who only talks when you ask questions. You pay for the jeep driver to drive and talk to the guide. You’re obligated to pay for a bullock cart ride, who takes you the remaining distance to the tower, even though the jeep could’ve done that. You see some bison licking a salt lick that the locals placed. You see some captive elephants. Maybe you see a peacock and some deer… Seems very uncommon that people see rhinos. The price is still low, but visiting a zoo would be a better use of time. I should add, we planned to do a safari, but staff at the ticket counter convinced us we’d see more wildlife with the tower because it goes into the park whereas the safari apparently skirts the outside of the park? Who knows- a group at our hotel went on the 6am safari and said they only saw a baby peacock. 🤷‍♂️

Gorumara National Park is a true gem in the Dooars region of West Bengal. It offers an amazing opportunity to experience the rich biodiversity of North Bengal up close. The park is famous for its population of Indian one-horned rhinoceros, but you can also spot elephants, bison (Indian Gaur), deer, wild boars, and a variety of birds including peacocks and hornbills. I had the chance to go on a jeep safari, and it was a memorable experience. The forest is dense and green, with the sounds of birds and the wind through the trees making it feel magical. Our guide was knowledgeable and respectful towards the wildlife, which made the journey even more meaningful. The watchtowers inside the park, like Jatraprasad and Medla, offer stunning views of the forest and the animals in their natural environment. The park is clean and well-managed, and the local people are friendly and welcoming. Gorumara is a perfect getaway for anyone who loves nature, photography, and wildlife. I highly recommend visiting this place to feel the beauty and tranquility of the forest. It’s an experience you won’t forget.

Great experience on a safari . Did the 3:30 pm jeep safari followed by the cultural show where members of the Tribal groups perform their dances. For the cost, I would have liked the jeep safari to be longer and waits at the lookout points to be longer. Just paused for 10 mins and since there were no animals , we moved on. Safaris involve waiting and watch in and I felt hurried.

Gorumara National Park is one of the most beautiful wildlife destinations in North Bengal, located in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The park is famous for its rich biodiversity and scenic beauty, especially its population of the one-horned rhinoceros. The lush green forests, grasslands, and rivers create a perfect habitat for elephants, bison, deer, leopards, and many species of birds. The early morning and evening jungle safaris are the main attractions, offering a thrilling experience of spotting wild animals in their natural surroundings. The watchtowers like Jatraprasad, Rhino Point, and Chapramari provide a stunning panoramic view of the forest and wildlife. The park is well-maintained, and local guides are knowledgeable and friendly, making the visit both enjoyable and educational. Overall, Gorumara National Park is a must-visit for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Its peaceful environment, natural charm, and thrilling safaris make it one of the best eco-tourism spots in West Bengal. Best time to visit: November to March
Abhijit M — Google review
Okay, Gorumara is straight-up old-school jungle safari in West Bengal. The main flex here is spotting the Indian one-horned rhino, which is a rare vibe check. You definitely gotta book an elephant or jeep safari if you wanna see the real action, like bison and deer. Solo traveler-wise, it's super structured—you gotta have a guide and follow the park timings, which is actually safer when you're out alone. The lookouts, espcly the one near the Murti River, are fire for watching the rhinos hang out. It's not a place for aimless wandering, but for intentional wildlife sightings. The accommodation options outside the park gate are chill. Pro-tip: Go in the dry season for the clearest sightings. Vibe: Structured jungle immersion, rhino hunting with a camera.

Delo Park, perched atop the stunning Delo Hill at an elevation of 1,704 meters, is a must-visit destination in Kalimpong. This picturesque park offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the serene River Teesta. As you wander through its beautifully landscaped gardens adorned with vibrant flowering plants and shrubs, you'll find plenty of picnic spots to relax and soak in nature's beauty.
Delo Park in the rainy season feels like stepping into a misty paradise. The clouds float so close you can almost touch them, and the lush greenery glistens after every shower. The cool breeze, soft drizzle, and panoramic mountain views make it perfect for nature lovers and photographers. Carry a raincoat or umbrella, and enjoy the magical monsoon vibes!

Delo Park is a lovely spot to spend some peaceful time amidst nature. The park offers several scenic viewpoints that provide breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and landscapes. A small entry fee is required, which is quite reasonable for the experience it offers. Horse rides are available inside the park, which is a fun activity, especially for kids. It's also great to see that the park maintains an eco-friendly approach by not allowing plastic inside. However, the park could benefit from better maintenance in certain areas to enhance the overall visitor experience. With a little more care, it has the potential to be an even more beautiful and well-kept destination.

Pine View Nursery

Pine View Nursery, also known as the Kalimpong Cactus Nursery or Mohanji nursery, is a must-visit attraction in Kalimpong. Founded by Mr. Mohan S Pradhan, this unique nursery boasts an extensive collection of over 1500 species of cacti and succulents from around the world, making it the largest cacti collection in Asia.
Visited July 31, 2025 – Day 28 in India After saying goodbye to my dear friend and her son, the mood in the car was very heavy. My girls, aged five and seven, were quietly crying and missing them already. It was one of those moments when parting feels so hard, especially after such a warm reunion. Our driver suggested stopping by Pine View Nursery for some sightseeing, and I’m really glad he did. Since it was early in the morning, we were the only visitors there, which made the whole experience even more special. The place was wonderfully peaceful, surrounded by calm and quiet that felt like a gentle balm to our hearts. Walking through the nursery, we were completely fascinated by the incredible variety of cacti around us. There were so many different shapes and sizes, some small and round like little green balls covered in fine spines, others tall and columnar stretching upwards like natural sculptures. Some had delicate patterns on their surfaces, almost like nature’s own artwork, while others sported colorful blooms that popped brightly against the desert-green hues. It was amazing to see species from all over the world, each adapted in its own unique way to survive in harsh environments. The textures varied from soft and fuzzy to sharp and prickly, and the colors ranged from deep forest green to almost silvery shades. Some cacti even had tiny flowers blossoming, which added a surprising touch of beauty and delicacy to what you might otherwise think of as tough and rugged plants. My girls were completely absorbed, marveling at the strange and wonderful shapes. They asked so many questions, and it felt like a small adventure for them to learn about these unusual plants. I loved watching their curiosity grow with every step we took. The nursery was carefully organized so that we could take our time and appreciate each section. There was a calming rhythm to the visit, allowing us to forget the sadness we had felt earlier and instead focus on this quiet celebration of life and resilience. Leaving Pine View Nursery, I felt a little lighter. It was exactly the kind of peaceful interlude we needed to balance the emotions of the day. For anyone visiting Kalimpong, this is a serene spot that offers more than just plants, it offers a moment of calm, wonder, and a reminder of how diverse and beautiful nature can be.

Pineview Nursery in Darjeeling is a very beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It is not a big tourist attraction, but it feels special the moment you walk in. The nursery is full of different kinds of plants, especially cacti and succulents that you don’t usually see in this region. Some are tiny and cute, while others are tall and strangely shaped—it feels like walking through a little desert garden on a hill. The paths are clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. I was surprised to learn how many varieties of cactus they grow here. The display is arranged neatly, with colorful pots and name tags for most plants, which makes it easy to look around and learn. From the nursery, you can also enjoy a nice view of the surrounding hills, which adds to the charm. It’s a quiet place, away from the crowd, and perfect for people who love nature and gardening. Visiting Pineview Nursery was a refreshing experience. It showed me how beautiful and unique plants can be, even in a small corner of Darjeeling. I left with a peaceful mind and a smile on my face.

Avoid this place in Kalimpong. Bad experience. Staff is exceptionally rude and wasn't allowing us entry as we had just 10 minutes left. Although we were allowed later we were charged the full ticket fee. It is a really small place with very few cactus. Maintenance is very bad and seems the entry fees goes to the staff's pockets.

A cactus lover’s paradise in the hills! 🌵✨ Pine View Nursery in Kalimpong surprised me with its incredible and massive collection of cacti — easily one of the most unique nursery experiences I’ve had in India. From tiny, intricate varieties to giant, spiky showstoppers, the diversity here is mind-blowing. Some of the cactus species are rare and decades old, and you can tell they’ve been lovingly nurtured. It’s like stepping into a desert-themed botanical garden, but set against the misty backdrop of the Himalayan foothills — absolutely surreal! Even if you’re not a plant enthusiast, walking among these beautiful, unusual plants is a visual treat. It’s peaceful, educational, and truly photogenic. You’ll definitely walk away with a new appreciation for these fascinating plants. If you’re visiting Kalimpong, don’t miss this spot — a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who enjoys the quiet charm of green spaces. 🌿📸🌵 Would you like a quirky or punny version for Instagram? Something like: “Kalimpong’s sharpest attraction — and I’m totally stuck on it! 🌵😉”

Beautiful resort, with amazing decor and friendly staff. It is centrally located. There are two lifts, one from the parking lot and another from the front entrance. The resort is spacious and spread over different levels. The parking, though available, is limited. The food is good but the buffet is too expensive compared to the choice of dishes offered. Rooms are spacious, with good heating arrangement, but the wardrobe space is limited. The mobile signal of most national networks is intermittent, but the WiFi connectivity is good. The reason for the 4 star ⭐ rating is mainly the intercom. Every time you wish to dial another room, you have to go through the operator.

Beautiful resort, with amazing decor and exceptional hospitality. All aminities available, centrally located. My only concern was with the food. I generally avoid buffets as food in buffet is most of the times average and also you tend to overeat. I stayed there for 4 nights and opted for the alacarte dining. Choice of items is limited, more over the preparation/ taste of food is very very average, rather below average for the dishes I had ordered......absolutely not expected from a star rated property. Will I stay there again - Yes Will i dine there - No

My 2-year old son, wife and I stayed in there for 3 nights and here is my honest experience. Please note we stayed in Lloyd's cottage so the room related details are specific to the room. Rest of it is generic Hotel itself is excellent - huge and spread out hotel with a colonial heritage. impeccably maintained. Service - The BEST part. We had been quite demanding, keeping in mind we had an infant with us. Every request was kept with a smile. Amenities - Cannot imagine needing anything else from a hotel. They provided slippers, bathrobe, even umbrellas, there was a playroom for children as well. Food - the breakfast spread was excellent. The Ala carte menu was decent. Location - Not exactly on the mall but just a 10 min walk in a quieter neighbourhood. Possibly less so for fitter people. Room and view - very decently sized room. We had a balcony with a valley view. Overall we were extremely satisfied with our stay. Our heartfelt thanks to each employee.

Lookouts
Tiger Hill, situated 2590 meters above sea level and 13 kilometers from Darjeeling, is renowned for its breathtaking sunrise views. It offers a spectacular sight of the sun illuminating the peaks of Kanchenjunga before it appears at lower altitudes. This hill is also the summit of Ghoom, the highest railway station on the Darjeeling Himalayan Train route, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Dear folks I'm reviewing Most beautiful place in Darjeeling. The Tiger Hill. Tiger Hill Sunrise Point is truly a must-visit when in Darjeeling! Located about a 30–40 minute drive from the main city, it’s famous for offering a breathtaking view of the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Ideally, you should plan your visit between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to catch the magical first rays lighting up the snow-clad peaks. However, do keep in mind that the weather in Darjeeling can be very unpredictable. If clouds are too dense, the majestic Himalayan view might hide itself away! The spot is peaceful and fills you with a deep sense of calm and wonder. With the cool winds blowing. whether you make it for sunrise or visit later in the day, Tiger Hill is absolutely worth every moment — a truly unforgettable experience. Must recommended place in Darjeeling
Dhaara S — Google review
Check for the clouds at around 3am before heading here to get an idea whether you can see the mountains especially the Kanchanjunga. The vehicle management needs to improve. The entire tourist population of Darjeeling will be here with atleast 300 cars on a weekday and more on the weekends. So be ready to walk a bit because your driver will prefer keeping the car at the far end to ease the departure. No official observatory here when I went in the month of October 2025. You'll have some local vendors who serve maggie and momo as well. So enjoy this place and be hopeful that the weather gods bless you

At Tiger Hill before the dawn, The world is quiet, still, and calm. Then slowly, light begins to rise— A golden whisper in the skies. Kangchenjunga wakes in glow, Blushing pink with morning’s show. The Sleeping Buddha shines in gold, A sight that never can grow old. Clouds drift soft, the air is chill, Magic lingers on the hill. In that moment, pure and true— The mountains feel like they’re blessing you. A sunrise framed in heaven’s hue—

As I stood at the institution in Darjeeling, the Himalayas unfolded before me like a canvas of breathtaking beauty. The snow-capped peaks, majestic and towering, seemed to defy gravity, their rugged grandeur softened by the gentle caress of mist. The mountains' serene silence was punctuated only by the sweet songs of birds and the rustle of leaves, creating a symphony that resonated deep within my soul. The Himalayas are a masterpiece of nature, crafted over millions of years by the patient hands of wind, water, and ice. As I gazed upon their majestic form, I felt the weight of their ancient history, the stories of civilizations past etched into every rock and valley. The institution, nestled in the heart of this natural wonder, seemed a haven for those seeking knowledge and adventure. The Himalayas near Darjeeling are a haven for the senses. The scent of rhododendrons and pine wafted through the air, mingling with the earthy aroma of the forest floor. The taste of local tea, rich and full-bodied, was a perfect complement to the stunning views. As I sipped my tea, I felt the stress of the world melt away, replaced by a sense of tranquility and awe. The institution's surroundings offer a wealth of opportunities for exploration and discovery. From trekking and mountaineering to birdwatching and photography, there's something for every kind of adventurer. As I watched the sun set over the Himalayas, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson, I felt grateful to be in this enchanting location. In the evening, as the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, the Himalayas took on a mystical quality. The mountains seemed to whisper secrets to the wind, their ancient wisdom carried on the breeze. As I stood there, enveloped by the majesty of the Himalayas, I felt a deep sense of connection to the natural world. The Himalayas near Darjeeling are a treasure trove of natural beauty, cultural richness, and adventure opportunities. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or simply someone seeking inspiration, the Himalayas are sure to leave you spellbound. As I left the institution, I carried with me memories of the majestic Himalayas, their grandeur and beauty forever etched in my mind.

Invaluable tourist spot in Darjeeling. Great place to view the glorious attempts to climb the tallest mountain peaks in India and Nepal. We also get the opportunity to see the various gear used by the countless mountaineers in their attempts to climb them. There are also the statues of Tenzing Sherpa and Edmund Hillary. A calm and spiritually refreshing place with stunning views of the Darjeeling hills. The Japanese Temple exudes serenity, and the rhythmic chanting of the monks creates a deeply peaceful atmosphere. The adjoining Peace Pagoda, with its gleaming white structure and golden Buddha panels, is beautifully maintained and photogenic. A short walk connects both sites, making it a fulfilling visit. However, parking can be quite congested, especially during peak hours, so it’s better to come early or hire a local cab. Situated amidst the scenic hills of Darjeeling, the Peace Pagoda stands as a symbol of harmony and unity for people of all faiths. The view from the top is absolutely mesmerizing — you can see the town and the surrounding mountains in all their glory. A must-visit place if you’re in Darjeeling — not just for its beauty, but for the sense of serenity it brings

Nice place. Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda are in same place. Peace Pagoda is more beautiful. And most beautiful thing is the scenic beauty of nature. And if weather is fine then you can get to see the Royal Crown of Himalaya The Majestic Kanchenjunga mountain.

Visited the Peace Pagoda in Darjeeling during our trip, and it truly left me feeling calm and blessed. Such a beautiful and peaceful temple—surrounded by mountains, greenery, and fresh air. The place has a very calming energy, and the white pagoda itself is so stunning and serene. I went there with my husband, and we both felt a deep sense of peace just walking around. The view from the top is amazing—you can see the entire city and even the hills beyond. It’s not just a tourist spot; it genuinely gives you a spiritual vibe. If you’re someone who enjoys quiet places and beautiful architecture, this one’s a must-visit in Darjeeling. Simple, soulful, and picture-perfect!

Batasia Loop is a must-visit attraction in Darjeeling, India. Located near Ghoom, it features a lush green garden where the Toy Train completes a loop. The garden spans an impressive fifty thousand square feet and showcases an array of beautiful flowers and plants. This spot offers panoramic views of Darjeeling and was designed to facilitate easy navigation around the area's terrain.
Owners are so soft-spoken and extremely extremely helpful ... They keep an sharp eye for all the comforts of the guests ... They provide few services (which few hotels charge money for) without even charging anything and even help the guests out if they are facing some problems during their stay ... They have magic in their hands as their home-cooked food with fresh ingredients are at another level which will force someone to gain 3-4kgs, can't stop drooling over their cooked meals ! 🤤The view of the toy-train passing by is the cherry 🍒 on the top 😍

The trek to Sandakphu is challenging but totally worth it as it rewards you with mesmerizing sunrise and sunset views. Sandakphu... Top of West Bangal... 🏔 You can visit this place in two way, one is trekking... Another is by Land Rover. Sandakphu is famous for the magnificent view of Kanchenjunga family & Everest family. The perfect visibility of "Sleeping Buddha" Appears from here... If you don't visit Sandakphu, do it first... You will get a unforgettable memory... 🏔🤍

Fantastic place but the road from Tumling will be hell even in a 4x4. It's very cold (once it gets cloudy and chilly) even in October so take appropriate warm clothes. Ideal for treks. Do not mess with the yaks and the horses. The yaks might chase you thinking you have salt. Running water is a big issue here.
Pritesh C — Google review
West Bengal s highest mountain peak but it is very crowdy. Beautiful sceneries can be seen from here . Most favourite trekking attraction is sandakhfu for trekkers. You can also come this place by landrover but trekking is more adventurous.
Debraj B — Google review
One of the most beautiful place I have ever visited. I was there in the month of February 2024. It was a bit off season and at night temperature was around -5 degree. Hotel sunrise is one of the choices for staying there. But when I stayed there , there was no electricity, so as usual there was no room heater or anything to keep us warm, so in that climate condition it was a bit difficult for all the travellers. Even glass windows were frozen inside the room. But the very next day when we saw the clear sky and the beautiful sunrise , all our exhaustion had turned into joy and happiness.you can visit the place either by hiking or by car , you can reach to Manibhanjan from NJP , from Manibhanjan you can hire a guide if you want to reach the place by trekking,it’s a 4 days trek only for sandakphu , and if you want to cover Phalut , then it’s a 5 days trek. Another option is you can take the legendary Land Rover or Mahindra Marshal kind of jeeps to reach there. If the sky is clear then you can see the most mesmerising view of Kanchanjunga range. I am sharing some photos from my gallery. Keep travelling keep knowing the u know.

Reach there via Phalut. Trekked approx 21 KM. Exhausted, dwindling somehow reached the trekkers hut. But the next day sunshine gave the tranquility I craved for long

Sandakphu is the highest point of the ridge and of the state of West Bengal, India. The peak is located at the edge of the Singalila National Park and has a small village on the summit with a few hotels. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. Must visit place in West Bengal, its beauty is beyond expectation.
Souditi C — Google review
One of the most difficult terrain to conquer. ROADS are almost non existence. But adventurous. If you're looking for adventure you can definitely visit this place. View of Kanchenjunga is Mesmerising and the sunrise is just wow
Niraj B — Google review
The last 14 km trekking from Tumling to Sandakphu is totally WORTH it!! I would suggest everyone who lives in West Bengal to atleast visit this place once in their lifetime. This place is indescribable and unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! ❤️ One of the best place I've been. Very cheap, if you know the place and people. If you want to go by car, book Land rover car from the ticket counter. It will be very cheap for you. PLEASE don't allow the "Tour Guide" book the Hotels and Cars, they will charge double. The Guide will tell you Hotels/cars are not available etc... Just to fill up their pockets. Always book cars and hotels by yourself. Don't go for so called guides (dalals). People are very nice and helpful over there.. I've been to this place two times.

Trikut Parvat, located 16 km from Deoghar, is the source of the River Mayurakshi. While vehicles can take you to the base, a recent addition of a ropeway has made it easier for visitors to reach the top. The area's tourism infrastructure is still developing, so accommodations and amenities may be limited. However, Trikut Parvat offers plenty of opportunities for exploration and adventure activities such as trekking, rock climbing, and rappelling.
Beautiful place......but be aware from monkeys 🐒 they want food .....so they will check your pocket, bags 🎒. Avoid bags to visit trikut parvat .

A must visit in Deoghar and this place has small small temples inside after climbing 🧗🏻‍♀️ for 20 minutes. There are loads of monkey 🐵 on the way and inside the premises, so be careful with the belongings.

Trikut Pahar, Deoghar As per Hindu mythology, Trikut Pahar is one of the 20 mountains around Mount Meru. Mount Meru is the abode of Brahma. It is also said that Ravana carried Shivalinga from Mount Kailash to Lanka through this place. A cave is there, which is as per saying that Ravana worshipped Shiva. It was the second dwelling place of Mata Vaishno Devi. Located 25 km away from Deoghar town in Jharkhand. A less populated area and the approach road gives an excellent view of the peaks. There are three main peaks, which are named as Brahma, Visnu and Maheswar (the Tri of Trikut hal). There are two more peaks which are called Kartik and Ganesh. The last one resembles an elephant's trunk. Earlier, there was Ropeway service to the peak, but after the faral accident on 10th April 2022 the service is no longer available. Though it was proved and found negligence of the operator for failure of the engine shaft. The operator had to pay compensation to the kins of the dead persons, but the service did not resume. This place has good potential to become a great tourist attraction. If the ropeway service is resumed and proper lodging and boarding facilities are available nearby then tourists would be also interested to stay there. A few shops are also there and fast food stalls are also available. One point to remember: the area is accommodation for a large number of Rhesus monkeys. They may snatch food stuff. But obviously not aggressive. Guides are available and it is a wise idea to hire one. ****

Trikut Parvat : A Gem for Travellers Nestled just 15 km from the divine city of Deoghar, Trikut Parvat is a magnificent blend of natural beauty and spiritual serenity. Rising to an impressive height of 753 meters, this majestic hill offers breath-taking views and a tranquil ambiance that captivates every traveller who visits. The hill is famously known for its three distinct peaks, each holding profound religious significance. The peaks are dedicated to the holy Trinity of Hindu mythology—Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. The middle peak, which is the tallest, is associated with Lord Shiva, while the other two peaks are dedicated to Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. This divine symbolism adds a spiritual aura to the natural splendour of Trikut. The journey to Trikut is an adventure in itself, with lush green surroundings and a refreshing breeze setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. As you ascend, you are greeted with panoramic vistas that make every step worthwhile. One of the unique features of Trikut Parvat is its lively population of monkeys. These playful creatures are found in abundance and are both entertaining and mischievous. Visitors are advised to secure their belongings, as the curious monkeys have a knack for snatching items like food or bags. Despite their antics, they add a charming element to the trip, making it all the more memorable. For those who love trekking, the hill's trails provide a perfect mix of challenge and delight, surrounded by the chirping of birds and rustling leaves. The climb offers an excellent opportunity to connect with nature, and the sense of achievement upon reaching the summit is unparalleled. Whether you're a nature lover, an adventurer, or a spiritual seeker, Trikut Parvat promises an experience that lingers in your heart. Its unspoiled beauty, spiritual significance, playful wildlife, and serene atmosphere make it a destination worth exploring. Truly, Trikut Parvat is a jewel in Jharkhand’s crown, inviting travellers to immerse themselves in its timeless charm.

If you can reach the peak of the mountain, you will be satisfied mentally as well as physically, you will be feeling like that you are closer to the 'The God' with the clouds present and a minor chance of error can be the cause for your death, if your are going to the mountain without any safety measures as well as please care to consult a tourist guide or professional as if you are a amateur it might problem causing of not knowing the right ethics and techniques and also to tackle with monkeys take biscuits any type of food or snacks present as they are always ready to snatch your essential properties like a handbag, sunglasses, spectacles, and even your hotel room key and at the last all I want to say is must visit and offer a pooja to "THE TRIKUTESHWAR MAHADEV" which will come in your way while climbing on the mountain and please don't spread plastic and non bio degradable wastes at the mountain maintaining the scenic beauty of the mountain,"JAI HIND".

🌺 A Soulful Visit to Baba Baidyanath Dham I recently had the blessing to visit Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar, and it truly felt like stepping into a different world — one filled with devotion, energy, and peace. The moment I entered the temple premises, the chants of “ओम नमः शिवाय” and the fragrance of incense instantly made me feel connected to something divine. The darshan experience was deeply fulfilling. Even though the temple gets crowded, especially during peak hours, there’s a strong sense of discipline and faith among the devotees. Seeing the faith of people who walk miles for just one touch of devotion is profoundly touching. I would like to express my gratitude to Baba Kedar, who has always made my darshan experience more beautiful than ever before. The Rudra Abhishek was truly incredible. Thank you, Baba Kedar. The main Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva radiates an energy that words can’t describe — you just have to experience it. I also visited the nearby temples, and each one carried its own charm and serenity. Deoghar itself has a simple yet spiritual vibe. Locals are warm and helpful, and there are enough food and stay options around the temple area. Overall, this visit left me with a sense of calm and gratitude. If you’re a devotee of Lord Shiva, this is one of those places you must visit at least once in your lifetime. Har Har Mahadev! 🙏🕉️

Baba Baidyanath Dham is one of 12 Jyotirlingas located in Deogarh, Jharkhand. You can reach here from Jasidih Station which is well connected with major stations like Patna, Ranchi, Howrah etc. Thousands of devotees come here everyday offering prayers. The queue is long on any given day and you can get direct entry to the temple by buying a pass for ₹300. Try to visit Basukinath as well if you have time which is located approximately 50 Kms from Baba Baidyanath which holds equal significance. P.S.- Be aware of the Pandas as they are present everywhere and they will try to get as much money from you wherever possible.

Love being near baba baidyanath. That inner peace and happiness is just very unexpressable. Some management issues inside the garbh gruh near shivling due to public, hard to do the jalabhishek and darshan of baba ji but otherwise everything is good. The spiritual energy and vibes at babadham is crazy.

𝗦hree Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Mandir in Deoghar, Jharkhand, is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in India and holds immense religious significance for Hindus. It is recognized as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, making it a revered destination for devotees from across the country. The temple complex has a rich history, with legends linking it to Ravana, the king of Lanka, who is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva here with utmost devotion. The sanctum of the temple houses the sacred Shivlinga, and the atmosphere inside is filled with chants, bells, and the deep sense of spiritual energy that draws millions of visitors each year. One of the most notable events is the annual Shravani Mela, held during the holy month of Shravan (July–August), when devotees undertake the Kanwar Yatra, carrying holy water from the Ganges to offer at the temple. The temple’s architecture, though simple, radiates an ancient charm that reflects its timeless importance. Pilgrims often feel a deep sense of peace and fulfillment after offering prayers here. Visiting Baba Baidyanath Dham is not only a religious experience but also a journey of faith, devotion, and cultural richness that leaves a lasting impression.❤️❤️❤️

Correct me if I am wrong what I have seen that we have a single Jyotirling Trample which have place and temple infront of the lord shiva temple and devotees are making them connected each other from the top called as Pagadi. So peaceful and well maintained. The world famous Peda is from there only. Har har Mahadev...

Priyanka M — Google review
I recently visited the sacred temple in Jharkhand, spread over a vast area with 21 temples. My darshan was spiritually uplifting, especially since it was my last Jyotirlinga left for darshan out of 12. Har Har Mahadev🙏 However, I was disappointed by the aggressive behavior of some pandit Jiis who would approach devotees, insisting on unnecessary rituals and donations. This issue seems prevalent in many Indian temples. I humbly request the temple trust or government to intervene and regulate these practices, ensuring a peaceful and genuine worship experience for all devotees. Clear guidelines and transparency would help eliminate confusion and allow devotees to focus on their spiritual journey. The temple's spiritual energy is undeniable, and with some improvements, it could be an even more divine experience for all. Jai Hind🇮🇳🚩

Just Amezing travelling spot.❤️❤️. 🌿 Ayodhya Hills is a serene escape! Winding roads lead through emerald forests to scenic hilltop views, waterfalls, dams & quaint tribal villages. Stayed at Akash Hilltop Resort—cozy cottages with breathtaking sunsets 🌅. Food was fresh local Bengali & chicken curry—limited menu but delightful. Routes from Purulia are adventurous; best in SUV. Bring water/snacks and pre-book your guesthouse. Truly a hidden hill-country delight! 🚙🍃 Verdant forests, winding mountain roads, peaceful reservoirs, and tribal culture—this place has it all. Trek the undulating Eastern Ghat slopes, soak in Bamni and Turga Falls, or just relax by the sparkling dams. Perfect for nature lovers and photographers ✨📸 Nearest station is Barabhum or Purulia. From there, take a shared jeep or taxi to Baghmundi (≈‌30–45 km, 1–2 hr) and continue via winding uphill roads to the hilltop. Govt. WBFDC guest houses (Niharika, Malabika): Budget-friendly (≈₹500–1200/night), basic AC/Non‑AC rooms, must book in advance via Kolkata office. In-hotel guesthouse meals: Basic local Bengali + tribal fare—rice, roti, dal, posto vada, chicken. Pre-order needed; no outside eateries once on hill . Oct–Mar for perfect weather; Feb–Mar for vibrant palash bloom; monsoons lush, but roads tricky Local guides ~₹200/day can help navigate trails & waterfalls . Sita Kund (legendary spring) & mini temple at Bagandi—myth-lovers’ delight Mayur Pahar (Peacock Hill)—panoramic views + temple spot Bamni & Turga Falls—lush, scenic waterfall treks through forest.🙏🙏

It’s really beautiful although we were here on a gloomy day but the water flow was intense. The fall is quite heightened. And there is a small track you have to do till the waterfall i.e around 1 km downslope stairs. The waterfall is very beautiful and the crowd is decent make sure you return back to ranchi the same day as there is no hotels nearby for staying.

Visited Hundru Falls recently, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience! 🌊✨ The waterfall is truly majestic, surrounded by lush greenery and scenic beauty that makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers. The sound of the falling water and the cool breeze create such a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. The place is well worth the visit, especially during or just after the monsoon when the flow is at its best. However, visitors should be cautious while walking near the rocks as they can be slippery. A little improvement in cleanliness and basic facilities around the area would make the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful and memorable trip — a perfect escape into nature’s beauty! 🌿💦

Perfect place, only checked the upper side, no entrance fee there. Go weekdays before lunch to avoid crowds. Protect the environment, dont litter!

It's a nice place to visit. Whether you're a photographer seeking drama, a traveler craving solitude, or a storyteller like you looking to pair visuals with emotion, Hundru delivers. The sound of the water crashing, the cool spray on your face, and the sheer scale of the drop—it’s humbling, exhilarating, and oddly comforting all at once. Visit during or just after the monsoon for peak flow, but tread carefully—the rocks get slippery and the current fierce. Early morning light adds a golden glow that’s perfect for nostalgic edits or pairing with a soulful track.
