We visited the lake in the afternoon, and to be honest, it turned out to be quite an ordinary experience. The surroundings were calm and peaceful, but there wasn’t much activity or scenic charm to make it stand out. The water looked still and somewhat dull under the afternoon sun, and there were hardly any visitors around, which made the place feel rather deserted. While the quietness could appeal to someone seeking solitude, it lacked the liveliness or natural beauty one usually expects from a lake destination. Overall, it was a simple, average spot — pleasant but nothing particularly memorable.

Silent and big lake with some forest cover for locals to relax if the day is very hot at Jowai.Nothing much to do here that has cafe like structural view point on one side and few benches on the other sides.

Not very well maintained. May be due to corona. But nevertheless enchanting. The story of how it was made is both romantic and hair raising. I hope someone makes a film out of it someday. Thoroughly enjoyable visit.

One of the more unique water fall experiences ever. Walking through / surrounded by Paddy fields to the two tiered cascade. Went early in the morning so it was not much crowded . About 350 steps and a path one way down so it is not very tough but for a couple of sections on the way back when you get the sun on you. The water is so cool and you are tempted to get under the falls. Clean and well maintained and makes for amazing pictures. The air feels so fresh and sweet smelling thanks to all the vegetation. Shall be of the favourite parts of my Meghalaya visit. Best visited on your return trip from Dawki to Shillong if you plan it that way - along with Krang Suri falls and Narthiang.

Feels like home… but with better WiFi and a cooler owner I stayed here for a few days, and honestly, I’m starting to think I might just “accidentally” forget to leave. The house is so cozy it feels like it gives you a hug the moment you step in. Everything is spotless (seriously, I dropped a cookie on the floor and considered eating it—don’t judge 😅). And the owner? Absolute legend! Not only super helpful and kind, but also has a great sense of humor—basically part-time host, part-time stand-up comedian. They made sure I felt comfortable, guided me around like a local, and even shared stories that made me laugh harder than Netflix. If you’re looking for a place that’s safe, warm, and comes with free smiles, this is it. Just be careful—you might end up liking it so much that you’ll start calling it “home” too!

I stayed with my friends here for a night. Very neat, hassle free - clean homestay. This is the closest stay to the waterfall. I stayed in 5 different places in all 5 days of my Meghalaya trip, but Krangsuri homestay stood out. Food was amazing and host Youri speaks perfect English and so friendly! She helped us the next day being our guide to the waterfall and explained all the history of it! I recommend this homestay for families and also solo travelers! One homestay that I don’t mind going back again!!

Do not visit here during the off season[summers]. Here in thhe rainy season you will at least see a few small waterfalls falling from the hills. But in summer's it is a MUST SKIP destination. You will see muddy water all along. The boat driver had also advised us only to come to this place in winters. You will find a lot of rush all year round due to the hype created. The boat ride is also overpriced at around 1200rs per boat(3people max in a boat). But yeah you can see the Bangladesh border up close on this boat. Even if you visit during off season, do not come with expectations(but you may be lucky to find a lil clear water). PS: The boat drivers are extremely kind and informative. Do interact with them [Also ask about their Bangladesh experience :) ]

We were really looking forward to seeing the famous crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River, the kind where you can spot the shadow of your boat on the riverbed. Unfortunately, it had rained heavily the night before we arrived, and the water turned muddy, so we didn’t get to witness that. Nonetheless, it was still beautiful and so peaceful. We went boating near Shnongpdeng village, and it was a lovely experience, totally worth it despite the weather. If you’re lucky with clear skies, this place is a dream. But even with the rain, it’s still an experience of its own kind. Definitely recommended !

The river Umngot is not only clear, the view nearby is also very beautifulbut around it. Situated amidst lush green forests, people also compare this river with the river flowing in heaven. It flows through the town of Dawki in East Jaintia Hills district near the India-Bangladesh border, 85 km from Shillong. People also call it a hidden paradise in the hills. November to April is the best time to visit here. Boating is closed during the monsoon. All the tourists including foreigners also can have their quality time with the view and feel of nature.

The water is crystal clear . We had a very nice experience and boating in the river is one of the best experiences and so calming . But the saddest part is it's not going to be clean for many days as you can see people throwing all the wastes like water bottles, plastic wrappers, beer cans and etc. in the river . Also people are bathing in the river carelessly and making it dirty 😒..

Ratargul Swamp Forest is truly one of the most unique and magical places I’ve ever visited in Sylhet. Known as the only freshwater swamp forest in Bangladesh, this place feels like stepping into a different world. The calm water, tall trees half-submerged, and the peaceful silence all around create an unforgettable experience. The best way to explore Ratargul is by boat. As the boat moves slowly through the flooded forest, you can hear birds chirping, water rippling, and leaves brushing against the surface — it’s pure tranquility. The green reflections on the water make it look like a scene from a movie. During the monsoon season, when the water level rises, the forest becomes even more alive and beautiful. Ratargul doesn’t have many shops or restaurants, so it’s best to carry your essentials. But honestly, the peaceful natural beauty here makes it worth every moment. It's the country's only freshwater swamp forest. During our visit in this rainy season, the water level was high enough to reach till the boat ghat. The color of the water was far better than we anticipated, and the trees were submerged perfectly. During the dry season, it is possible to walk some distance, which gives a different vibe. The watch tower was temporarily closed at the time, so we couldn't get an aerial view. We booked a CNG from Sylhet, but the roads were too uneven and muddy, which forced us to exit the vehicle multiple times.

One of the best iconic places in Sylhet. Monsoon is the best time to visit. During the peak times you need to wait for the boat reservation so start very early morning to avoid crowds. Don’t forget to bring umbrella even if it’s not raining.

The most holy place in Sylhet for muslims. People from all around the country come to visit Hazrat Shahjalal's shrine everyday. The place becomes very crowded during Fridays and Saturdays. But the sad thing is that shirk occurs here everyday. I saw people going down for sujood infront of Hazrat Shahjalal's tomb, which is considered as shirk in Islam. Also the weed takers made this place heaven for them.

It’s a holy place with a great history. You have to walk throug and read articles to understand the history. Obviously it’s a bit crowded place. But be aware of pick pocketers and potential scammers.

A very old clock (more than a century ), and it works!!! Actually tried to make a replica of Big Ben, but failed. Nothing impressive. The surrounding place is dirty. Located beside the river bank, so, you can try some steet foods from the vendors (unhygienic for sure).

Quite good. Felt refreshing into the nature. But don't expect too much from such natural places as it is an 'eco park'. There is nothing more to see other than vast greenery and the waterfall. Sometimes they restrict to go under the waterfall. There is 3D movie theatre and local utensil shops in front of the spot. 3D movie was 2.5★. Try first hours to enjoy the utmost as there remains less crowd at that time.

Madhubkundu Waterfall, yes this is a very beautiful place but here are so many disadvantages. 1) Ticket price is very high 23 taka compare to this place. 2) After entering this place, if you want to go down and walking along the stream bed you have to give 10 tk for each person. 3) The worst part you can't go close to the waterfall because of their so called safety issues. 4) Except moonsoon season, they use motor water to continue the waterfall running.

Madhavkunda waterfall is situated at moulvibazar district.Madhabkunda waterfall is present in Baralekha police station of Moulvibazar district. It is the only famous waterfall in Moulvibazar district. It is more or less continuously supplied with water from the spring all the time of the year but it is maximum during the monsoon season.

Really beautiful. You have to walk for about 20 minutes from the entrace to reach the waterfall.

We went there on a monsoon season, so we were able to see the beauty of this waterfall. Some informations for the travellers: 1. It's quite far from the big cities like Mouluvi Bazar, Sreemangal etc. 2. If you bring car & the Google Map shows you a shortcut route, don't take it. Just follow what local says. 3. Again if you bring a car, watch out for reverse speed breaker. It does damage to your car. 4. The Madhobkundo Park closes at 5 PM. 5. The jungle area is untouched. But some artificial things will be seen between the jungle which is very annoying. 6. You'll need to walk a mile or two to get to the waterfall. 7. Don't swim, if you're not a good swimmer. Please those who are going, don't litter that place. It's heartbreaking.

I was truly amazed and thrilled when I reached the waterfall after 3 hours of travelling. It is so much worth everything when you see the waterfall with rain together.

This used to be the 2nd largest biggest paper mill of Asia. The township was consistently ranked amongst the best in India. Those like me who have been fortunate enough to spend their precious childhoods during it's golden era, can't compare this marvelous place to anywhere else in the world, in terms of scenic beauty, vibrant culture and warmth of people. These mills used to be highly productive and these townships were vibrant with multicultural people, melting pot of different religions, a true Mini India ! I miss those most beautiful years of my life spent there and will cherish those Memories for lifetime. Can't come in terms with the pathetic condition from last few years and heartbreaking news of people, whom I have known closely. hope the government seriously takes up the initiative to revive back all those mills and provide the due aids to the employees waiting since years.. Wish, all of us who are indebted to this mill could have joined hands towards a mission that would have saved this dying mill.. please don't abandon the helpless people who are waiting for years to receive their dues. Lets do something for the land and people, who made us today what we are !!!

A very beautiful mandir located at Udarbond, Silchar. Very beautiful inside this mandir. The first time I visited this place was with someone who was special to me and after that day, she became a part of me and I realised that after I visited this mandir. I am not a very religious person but I cannot deny the fact that after visiting that place with her, life turned out to be good for me.

Good nice temple. Joy maa kachakanti. It's situated next to the main road and nice location. It's one of the main tourist destination in Silchar. People from mail town and throughout Assam come here to take blessings. Less crowd and nice ambience. Only thing is here the concept of sacrifice still happening, which is the only demerit, rest all good. Once again I recommend the place, but if possible I suggest management to remove the sacrifice rituals. Thanks for reading my review.

There are so many shops and huge stock of Manipuri Mekhlas starting from ₹550. We have purchased 7 Mekhlas after bargaining. Great place for shopping.

The market is divided into three main sections: Leimarel Shidabi Ima (Purana Bazaar), Emoinu Ima Keithel (Laxmi Bazaar), and Phouibee Ima Keithel (New Market). Each section specializes in various goods, from traditional handloom textiles and handicrafts to fresh produce and household items.

This is the all women market of Imphal where you can find day to day life goods starting from their traditional clothes to veges to jewellery to dried fish etc. Even they have small restaurant over their where you can find manipuri thali in very low price. The market opens around 8:30 am and closes around 6:30pm to 7pm. Overall if you want to see the daily life or know about their culture it's a must place to visit.

Only all women market. Mainly clothing, fish, fruits available. Less to no dress available for males. No dress for kids. Vendors not trying to sell items and very unhelpful. It's almost like they don't want to make sales. Doesn't live up to the hype

This Market is known through the world & a walk through this market will tell you a lot about Manipur’s way of life. If you visit Manipur it is a must visit place. And yes, you can definitely bargain for a better rate for anything you buy

A very beautiful historic place inside the imphal city. Used to be the place where the palace of king used to be there and later the bungalow of British officers. The place is a good option for a relaxed walk and cycling. For visitors they have a paid battery car option also. In case you need a guide you will have to pay extra. I liked the place for its cleanliness and greenery.

Built or developed by ruler Khagemba around 1652 and occupied by Britishers in 1891 and was used as Barracks of army till 2004,nothing remains now except the huge brick wall inside the central part,a reminder of history and the forgotten kingdom of Manipur.Architecture of the fort is very grand with big moats on three sides supported by Imphal river on the back side making it more secure from the attack perspective.The big fort now has beautiful Pakhangba temple in traditional manipuri style,ruins of rebuilt govinda temple of 1869 after earthquake,cute fort like brindaban chandra temple,few stone inscriptions of 18th century in archeology museum,impressive info in 1901 built Victorian building of hospital now converted into kangla museum,relaxing rock garden alongwith several lakes and inner moats make it perfect place for peaceful environment away from the busy life of the outside city.

This is a MUST visit place in Imphal city. If you want to know the history of Manipur, India and life of people in British India through art, paintings and photos, this is the museum for it! You can opt for a guide who explains every painted picture in detail. There is no photography allowed inside. You will be mesmerized by the miniature art. You won't believe your eyes! The artist, R K Buddimanta is a genius in art. Put this in your "Places to vist" list when you're in the Imphal city.

This art gallery takes you in the past of Manipur. It exhibits the paintings from the artist family, with royal lineage. There are paintings from the Historic events of Manipur, some local legends and folklores and also some pieces of modern abstract art. The paintings on the shells and match boxes and dried leaves are just extra ordinary! I highly recommend the visit to this place when you visit Imphal.

A must place to visit in Imphal. The history and culture of manipur is portrayed beautifully in displayed paintings. Being a tourist, I learnt a lot visiting here. It also inspired me to focus on art works

Photography is prohibited so couldnot have pictures. But it is assured that even a non artlover would enjoy the place overall. For a artlover, this place is PARADISE. Sir. RKCS's son (also a reknowned artist) was present when we entered. He showed us all the paintings and more on that he explained the scene depictions of every painting he and his late father created. Its a place worth visiting ...

So disappointed. It was shown open in Google and I booked a cab and brought my friends who came from Meghalaya to tour Manipur. A woman told it's open we can go inside and see.. even a young gentleman told us it's open and when we enter an elderly man looks like an artist.. I assum him as RKCS's son (not sure) told us to go and come back later.. the attitude shown was too bad we felt Seriously bad for that..and most importantly I feel shy infront of my friends. It looks like we can enter and see the gallery easily...but yesterday there was no other visitor so I feel the elderly man doesn't want to get up from his chair and open the door for us . That seems to be very clear to me insist by the woman's and the young man's words to us. So sorry for my review and disappointment. We four came with hope and excitement. No hard feelings. 👍👎

Very cool and awesome place for a holiday. This is a floating iland with so mush sceneries. The lake is impressive and offers both beautiful landscape views as well as birdlife, which one has to explore by boat and foot on some of islands. Unfortunately there is a fair amount of littering around. Most picturesque place to visit. A must visit place if you are in Manipur. Preferably a stay for a couple of days to enjoy the virgin beauty of the place with be the best.

This is the only freshwater lake in northeast India and it is the biggest freshwater lake in south Asia. The sunset is beautiful in this lake. There are boating facility in the lake. There are some floating houses and homestaies where one can stay. This floating house is made on Fumdim. The place is nice and boating in morning is a good memory.

Its around 30-35km drive from main imphal city. But it's worth it. Its the largest natural freshwater lake and a famous tourist attraction. You can go to boating here though the charge is not per head basis, it will take around 600 for upto 6 people for 30 min ride. If you go there try to go to the top and have some food on the restaurant situated there, you will get the food with a great view.

This is a wonderful experience on its own. Can't describe the feeling in words. I was getting goosebumps looking at everything over there. This place is the 1st headquarters to the Indian National Army. The last pic of Netaji is also there and for sometime I couldn't take my eyes off that pic. Sharing some glimpses of the place.

- I recommend every citizen and specially youth to visit. How a Individual person from did a lot by alone, not doubt people support him. He visited all alone to many countries, meet formal authorities, make deals, created own army and lots. - We can watch here routs of his visit, his army INA, Photos, belongings etc.

A nice place for Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose memory. This place contains all the old pics. Also there is a last pic of Netaji coming out from the aeroplane in Japan before his death. A big size statue of the same has been erected inside this war museum. A must visit place if you want to see and learn a brief history of Myanmar annexation of Imphal and Kohima.

A fascinating piece of Indian history comes alive here. Apart from being the first place to hoist the Indian flag in 1944 in Indian Peninsula (First place was in Islands of Andaman and Nicobar in 1943). The museum has guns and artifacts used from WW2 and memorabilia of uprising led by Netaji. It also has a very intresting and detailed map of how he travelled over land and sea, prior to his untimely demise. A small entrance fee will get you in. No photographs allowed inside and the place is maintained in excellent order, a must visit for every patriot and history buff!

Pho Win Taung, ဖိုလ်ဝင်တောင် Look at the four sides Pho Win Taung, which looks like a boat capsized It is located in Salingyi Township and Yinmarpin Township area It exists. Pho Win Taung is a huge cultural heritage near the Chindwin River and drilling out natural sandstone rocks. They built Buddhist temples and statues of the Buddha they made offerings.These temples and statues of the Buddha are made of natural sandstone It is attached. It is said to date back to the 4th century AD, but it is solid evidence was drawn in several caves inside the temple Yes, you can see the murals from the 15th century Inwa-era period. In Myanmar, 15th-century Inwa-era murals are all in one place It is the most common place to find paintings and sculptures. Many Stone carving remain. Among them are the Inwa period murals and carvings of the Queen Cave It is very famous. There is compliance with the World Heritage Criteria Pho Win Taung has Outstanding Universal values Myanmar to apply for World Heritage nomination soon There is also a goal.

Pho Win Taung is regarded as the biggest rock carve and cut cave culture site in Asia with over 900 caves here. We can only guess about when did they do this but can't mention the exact date and time yet. With interesting mural painting in most of the caves.It is really interesting. Friendly monkeys will be waiting for you there as well Weakpoint is you have to take off your shoes when you go inside the shrines and most of them have a bit dusty floor 😅

Phowintaung is a Buddhist cave complex located approximately 25 kilometers west of Monywa and 10 kilometers southeast of Yinmabin, in Yinmabin Township, Monywa District, Sagaing Region, Northern Burma (Myanmar). It is located on the western bank of the Chindwin River. The name of the complex means Mountain of Isolated Solitary Meditation. The complex contains 947 small and large richly decorated caves. It is carved into a sandstone outcrop and contains numerous carved Buddha statues and mural paintings of geometric patterns and Jataka stories. The statues and paintings have been dated to between the 14th and 18th centuries.

Impressive cave temple complex with nearly 1000 caves/niches. Dated 14-18th century. Various sizes and shapes, some have beautiful carved entrances, some have well preserved colorful intricate paintings. One can easily spend a half day here. Be careful with the monkeys, they are cute, but can grab your stuff or bite. The entrance fee in Feb 2019 was 5000 kyats and covered Pho Win Taung and the nearby Shwe Ba hill.

A must to see while you are visiting one of the biggest standing Buddha in the world! Here you will find a place with nearly 550,000 mini Buddhas and it’s impressive architecture ! It really deserves a stop and pay 3,000 kyats to see the place inside !

Thousands upon thousands of miniature Buddha statues cover the interior and exterior of this temple, truly amazing. Can easily be reached from Monywa on a motorbike or taxi and probably the biggest attraction in the region.The pagoda is originally built in 14th century, renovated in 1939 and new statues are still being added.

BIG Buddha! Like... REAL BIG! great visit and easily reachable by local pickups from town / swap in the intersection. There is an elevator from the 2nd or third floor all the way to the 12th, then you can climb up all the way to the donation box which sits in the head. Will you see any view after doing all that climbing? Not really, but you will be inside big buddy Buddha's head and no one can take it from you after that. The temple grounds have amazing views as well of the surrounding area.

BIG Buddha! Like... REAL BIG! great visit and easily reachable by local pickups from town / swap in the intersection. There is an elevator from the 2nd or third floor all the way to the 12th, then you can climb up all the way to the donation box which sits in the head. Will you see any view after doing all that climbing? Not really, but you will be inside big buddy Buddha's head and no one can take it from you after that. The temple grounds have amazing views as well of the surrounding area.

Very nice. Biggest standing Buddha statue of the world. Great paintings inside. Has 31 levels representing the 31 plans of existence in Buddhism. Can climb all the way to the top if you are strong enough to do it.

World 2nd tallest standing Buddha. The place just fully refurnished . If you are fit, do climb up inside the Buddha .
