Le Mortelle is a beautiful winery in Tuscany, just outside of Castiglione della Pescacia. The setting is stunning, including rolling Tuscan hills, interesting architecture, and panoramic views. We tasted three wines (one white and two reds), presented by a sommelier. The wines were at various price points, all from estate fruit. We paired the tasting with a cheese plate and lunch, which we enjoyed in a Le Mortelle's beautiful garden setting. The food was fresh and flavorful, with allergen info clearly listed. Some of the products are grown on the estate, like the blueberry jam (and we took home a pack of blueberries). Our server had great energy and was quite funny. Everyone we interacted with spoke English and made us feel welcome. Although Le Mortelle is owned by the the expansive Antinori Family of wineries (which includes Stags Leap Wine Cellars and Antinori Napa Valley in Napa Valley, CA and Haras de Pirque in Maipo, Chile). The resources show in the setting, wine quality and level of hosptiality. If you appreciate great wine and food in an elevated (but still friendly) atmosphere, this is a home-run. Make a reservation if you're coming on a weekend.

Le Mortelle is a winery you won’t easily forget because of its setting and atmosphere. The place has a stunning ambiance – spacious, well-kept, and with a view that’s simply breathtaking. The service isn’t particularly outstanding and can feel a bit slow at times, but it hardly matters when you’re overlooking the vineyards and the beautiful landscape. If you’re looking for a memorable spot where wine and scenery come together, this is the place to be.

If you love wine and architecture, this is the place. An artistic and beautiful wine production facility, not to be missed. Dinner at Le Mortelle was amazing.

Total disappointment — would not recommend We booked a tour several weeks in advance and specifically requested that it be provided in English. Our group of seven was given a set time, and through both email and phone correspondence we were assured the tour would be in English. We also asked that the wine tasting consist only of white wines, since some in our group do not drink red. On the day of the tour, after driving two hours to get there, we were told the tour could only be given in Italian because the English translator was not available. To make matters worse, the staff implied the miscommunication was somehow our fault. The staff were unhelpful and dismissive. Hoping to salvage the visit, one of our friends offered to translate for the group, which was initially accepted. However, just a few minutes in, he was told to stop because it was “disturbing” other clients — despite the fact that it was the only way for us to follow along. At that point, we decided to leave rather than pay for a tour most of us couldn’t understand. As we walked away, the guide actually laughed at us and made a joke to the remaining guests — highly unprofessional and disrespectful. We tried to share our concerns with management, but instead of taking responsibility for a clear series of mistakes, they initially blamed us. Only after much discussion did they offer a bottle of wine, which felt like too little, too late. Overall, this experience was a complete waste of time and energy. Unprofessional service, poor communication, and zero accountability. I would strongly advise against booking here.

⸻ AVOID!!! We booked a tour for 7 people in English and traveled 2 hours to get to the estate, only to be told upon arrival that they could only offer a tour in Italian. We had also requested a tasting focused mainly on white wines, but they flatly refused to accommodate this. The staff were extremely rude and made no effort to find a solution. I even offered to translate for my friends during the tour, but they said it would “disturb other clients.” Unbelievable. We ultimately decided to walk away rather than waste our time. Truly shocking lack of professionalism — don’t waste your time or money here.

Unprofessional and extremely rude staff I have booked a tour in english with wine tasting for 7 people after communicating both on the phone and on email. I am Italian but my friends are foreigners so we needed a tour in English. I have also requested on email if possible to switch red wine for white for 2 people only given they do not drink red. When we arrived at the day and time booked the lady at the reception told us that the tour was only in Italian as the english tour was in the morning... and it was not possible to switch wines as that was not part of their package. My friend and I tried to find a solution by purchasing a separate white wine bottle and translate for our english friends so that the day would not been ruined after driving for 2 hours to get there. As soon as the tour started the lady told us off saying that was not possible for us to translate because we would have been a distraction for the other guests...so we decided to leave the tour. The tour lady reaction was appaling, she made fun of us with the other guests and carried on. This behaviour is completely unacceptable, sometimes misunderstandings can happen but I have never been treated this bad as a customer in my all life, this was so unprofessional and frankly offensive. Eventually I spoke with the floor manager who was more understanding, she offered us a bottle of wine as an apology but honestly it was too late. I suggest you train your staff properly because they clearly do not know how to deal with customers.

I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at San Galgano Abbey, and it was absolutely magical. The atmosphere of the roofless abbey, with its dramatic architecture and open sky, creates an unforgettable setting for a wedding ceremony. The entrance fee feels steep for a ruin with very little information provided… but it’s still 100% worth the visit! ⛪✨ Standing inside this roofless church, in the middle of nowhere, is an unforgettable experience. Open air 13th Century Abbey just outside of Siena. If this is something you’re into and enjoy – very much worth a visit. Looks spectacular from the outside and magical from the inside. Certainly unique. If you are not into architecture, historical buildings or church history, this is probably not for you. There is little explanation of the place once you’re there, so you need to ideally already be a fan or interested. Also visit the Chapel on the hill whilst you're in the area

There was an art exhibit when we were there which were really great to take photos. We had leave early because of a funeral.

Speechless spiritual place, knowing this place from Andrei Tarkovsky’s ‘Nostalgia’, as a metaphor of the protagonist’s memory and religious experience. No photos or documentaries can compare to being here personally, even if it might be an arduous trip for visitors without a car…

Historic place. Impressive to see and understand. When in the area take time visit and enjoy lunch at the nearby bar.

If you are visiting the Abbey, certainly go and see the Chapel. It’s on top of a hill with a wonderful view over the Tuscan countryside. Has free entry – with lots of things to look at. It’s small so only takes 10 mins to look round. Has a small shop to the side and people working there who seem proud of the place. Not worth coming specially, but take a look if in the area. Also free entry.

A nice peaceful place to visit. There is a large free parking lot which is a 10 min walk away. From the Abbey there is a steep amd rocky trail leading up to the church (shorter and more scenic than walking back around via the road) where you can enter for free and see the sword in the rock. From there you can complete the loop on the road back to the parking lot.

A very atmospheric place. We arrived around 11:00 on Saturday - there were not so many people. The parking nearby is gigantic, so shouldn’t be an issue even when it’s busy.

This is a lovely visit. How often do you get to see the sword in the stone? We had a lot of fun here and it was well worth going out of the way to see this.

The best lake I've ever see. Clear and warm water, a lot of wooden decks to chill and swim and relax. Quiet and peaceful!!

Overcrowded, people staying on every access to the water so you cannot swim without arguing with someone. Dogs barking everywhere, rude people camping... I don't recommend this noisy place at all. In the reviews you can read about "small private spot"...those are the access to the lake, they are NOT "private", you are taking a public spot to enjoy the lake from the people, proprio da classici italiani cafoni.

Clean and nice alternative to the beach

Beautiful, quiet freshwater lake with crystal-clear water. The lake is accesible via the Strada Provinciale Accesa. You can park on a dedicated parking lot in the woods next to the street and you will have to walk the last 200-300 metres to the lake as parking right next to it is prohibited and will get you a ticket. The lakefront is covered in reeds and you can get into the water via wooden jetties. Watch out for loose planks and salient nails there. The water is on almost every jetty deep enough to jump directly in. Depending on the jetty, getting out can get difficult as you must drag yourself out of the water. The lake is ideal for stand-up-paddeling and canooing as the water is almost always glassy (mind that you will have to carry all your stuff the 200-300 m from the parking lot). Snorkelling is not worth it since you will see pretty much nothing but the grey ground. There is a strip of grass all around the lake (maybe 20m wide) where you can lay down and relax. While you are there you can also visit Massa Maritima, a beautiful medieval city just 10 km away.

Worth to visit only because it is for free.

We took part in their “Wine Tasting with a Meal” ~ wine, EVO oil, & balsamic tasting with a Tuscan meal. It was a perfect afternoon! Giulia was our host and she helped make it an amazing experience. She was so kind and welcoming. The views are gorgeous, our lunch was delicious, and of course the wine was wonderful. We loved that it was not only a wine tasting, but trying the different olive oils & vinegars really made it special. We also loved how close it was to town. When we are in Tuscany again, we will definitely return.

We visited this winery as part of our honeymoon and were immediately taken by the stunning views and warm hospitality. The property, while situated right off the main road and not exactly a hidden gem, is still incredibly charming — a lovely setting with wide-open views of the Tuscan countryside. The wine, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar tasting itself, however, felt a bit underwhelming. Our waiter, "Sam", seemed to be reciting from a script rather than speaking with genuine enthusiasm or connection to the wines and oils. There was no guidance at all during the oil and vinegar portion, and by the end, we weren’t even asked if we had tried them. It wasn’t a bad experience by any means — but it lacked the personal storytelling and passion that can elevate a tasting and make it truly memorable. I would recommend having a different staff member take you on the tasting journey. The staff overall were friendly and welcoming. A special shoutout to Dario, who was helpful and kind when we ordered an additional glass of wine to enjoy while walking the grounds — a relaxing way to take in the scenery. All in all, it’s a beautiful spot with kind people and great views — we just wished for a bit more authenticity and engagement in the tasting itself. Based on my wine tasting experiences around the world, the pricing here felt a bit on the higher end for what was offered.

One of the finest Vinyards that we have patronized. Adriano served us well, always polite and had a sharp sense of humour. Originally from Romania, brought up here in Tuscany, we're fortunate to have him elaborate on the Tuscans way of living. Food is authentic Tuscany and the freshness is undoubted. We took a private cooking class at Podere La Marronaia and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The chef guiding us was warm, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the experience both fun and approachable. We made bruschetta, cacio e pepe, and gnocchi, and everything turned out delicious. After the class, we got to taste their excellent wines, as well as their olive oil and balsamic vinegar.. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, just about an hour outside of Florence, and well worth the trip. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic, hands-on Tuscan experience.

Such a waste of time. We took a detour to visit this region and booked this winery but when we arrived they said it was cancelled. They said they tried to contact us but with no success. Another couple also got cancelled. We got the money back but no compensation for waste of vacation time, an extra Hotel night and fuel, just a big disappointment. Don’t book this winery, there are lots of other good ones in the region! As you can see below the Winery threatens to take legal action if I don’t remove the bad review. I will not be silenced but have instead edited the review to make it more clear what happened from my point of view.

I’ve visited only the baths multiple times over several years and while the setting and facilities are wonderful, it can be difficult to enjoy when busy, because the majority of visitors seem to ignore the rules about not leaving personal items on deck chairs and being quiet, and none of the staff seem to enforce it(hence the three stars). As another reviewer mentioned already, the same goes with the changing rooms and visitors’ personal items occupying all of the benches making them inaccessible to anyone else who didn’t get there first. With access to lockers this is clearly unnecessary and inconsiderate towards fellow visitors.

The most beautiful place to relax and unwind. It's not crowded, so you won’t be bumping into others in the pool. Perfect for a romantic getaway. You need to book your spot in advance, and swimming caps, towels, and slippers are required. If you don’t have them, you can purchase them on site. You can also buy local wine or jams at the reception. Excellent! :)

Just there for light lunch and 1/2 terme dip. Delicious food (though a little spendy) in a beautiful space, baths are nicely set in nature but a bit full (especially with couples), upper inside pool is warmest though not hot. Changing rooms are sweltering. Recommendation: should assign larger lockers to external patrons because they have more with them than the inn guests.

Excellent property. The pools were beautiful and the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. All the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and were friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. Dinner and breakfast were also great. The room was comfortable, quiet, and private. Overall, this was an excellent stay!

We went there on the Notte Bianca (7/19/2025) when all the museum in the city is free after 21:00. We were the one of the first into the museum when it opened at 21:00 and we’re the only ones on the second floor where the famous sculptures are. Really cool experience to be able to explore a museum at night with so little people and being able to see the artifacts up close without being rushed by other tourists. Really recommend going on a Notte Bianca.

For lovers of Etruscan history, and for those just learning about the importance of the Etruscans, this museum is superb. From funerary uns, to bronze sculptures, to amazing household artifacts, this museum has it all. We spent over 2 hours inside and loved every minute. Plus, a huge bonus for us were the several beautiful (but covered) mosaic floors! Such a great museum!

Amazing museum. Amidst all the Roman ruins in Italy, the Etruscans often get overlooked. This museum has a ton of artifacts from the Etruscans -- older than the Roman empire and incredibly well preserved. The signage is mostly bilingual. Where it's only available in Italian, staff were willing to give us an explanation in English.

We'd read the reviews and were conflicted. Is this another old museum? NO. This is THE presentation of Etruscan life. The museum has undergone an amazing upgrade thanks to the EU. Ok, there are a couple of rooms with exhibits that are dated. But the rest are great. Seems a major project has occurred in 2025. Information is presented in Italian and English. The new displays are classy. We knew nothing about Etruscan culture. Now we know a bit more. Worth a visit for sure

An intriguing museum that was the surprise highlight of our visit to Volterra! Just visible on a distant hilltop, Volterra was pointed out to us by a local winery owner as a city we needed to visit because of its place in Tuscan history and its unique cultural artifacts - the burial urns of the Etruscans and its Roman theater. We didn't know much more than that, but we knew enough to trust when someone recommends something to us with nothing to gain for themselves, and we couldn't be happier we followed that instinct. This is one of those amazing museums that makes you want to continue to learn more even after you leave!

This Museum contains a beautiful collection of sarcophagi and other Etruscan tools. Very interesting, and definitely worth a visit. Having an elevator, it is accessible and comfortable, too. Still, the museum lacks modernity: there is no introduction to the Etruscans, and being unprepared it takes a while to understand what the exhibition is all about. Doesn‘t matter, maybe, when there are plenty of guards, as in this museum. You could simply ask, couldn‘t you? Unfortunately, the guards I talked to also couldn‘t explain the Etruscans, too. Thus, 3 stars. But hey, just a video intro and a little bit of tutoring and us visitors would all be set, wouldn‘t we?

This museum is a must see if you’re in Volterra, as it shines a bright light on the Etruscan (pre-Roman) civilisation. The collection is somewhat uneven - there are some sections which look as if they’re still awaiting reorganisation and improved explanatory notices, and there are more funerary urns than most people need, but the most important sections are well laid out and explained, and include some fascinating and beautiful items, such as the very extended figure of a young man, and even some of the funerary urns! Highly recommended.

Even if you are not a fan I think it is a must to visit Vinci village if you are traveling in Tuscany. The museum really didn’t influence me that much, I am not into mechanics, but I was shocked by what wonderful inventions he made at that time, there are some replicas of his paintings with explanation. But what I most was effected by was his house where Leonardo lived with his grandfather until he left when he was 17 years old, you can also visit the church where he was baptized. It was an incredible experience to look out the window Leonardo was looking out of. I recommend buying tickets from an official website of this museum, spend a little time and you’ll figure it out there. We bought the tickets for the first session at 10.30 I think and there was no one when we came so no lines. After little after tourist groups started arriving, so it became a little more crowded. If I were you I would go there first thing in the morning.

Really coolnto walk around where he had lived and worked. There are many models, exhibits, all with explanations (Italaian/English). Try the tower!! Note: 122 steps up, 122 steps down. There are corners to allow faster folk to pass you safely. The view from the top is worth it.

The museum was okey. I would only recommend visiting the museum and going all the way up for the great views. Highly recommend avoiding the house visit and "paintings" as they are all copies and not even the good ones. You need to drive up to the house which is nice in the outside but literally 3 rooms, one with a big fireplace, 1 with a big projector and 1 with stands with information. Not worth it as you can see anything for the days or get an idea of HOW he lived or what his house looked like inside. Dont waste your money. HIGHLY RECOMMEND eating at Caffè del Castello as they have great pasta dishes which change daily. Super recommend if you like good food. Staff were great.

We went out of our way to see this museum and were very glad we did. The drive up to Vinci was beautiful and fun. The small village the museum is in is adorable with the most amazing views. The museum itself focuses on di Vinci’s engineering invention. The displays were fascinating but it’s a very very small museum. I wish there had been more.

Absolutely stunning artwork, but the staff at the entrance was not helpful at all. I came with my husband and a baby, it was pretty pram friendly. It was very busy on Saturday afternoon.

It was a great experience! My gym buddy and I had a blast and mastered all the trails. The only problem was that the hooks sometimes got entangled, and the mounting of the pulley was complicated and in some places very uncomfortable. Apart from that, the routes are very beautiful and exciting, perfect for adventurous and determined people like us!

Great fun for both kids (2 and 4 years) and yet there were many more tracks of higher difficulty we could not even access. Highly recommended!

SO great! Super fun tree climbing activity for both adults and children. Our girls of 4 and 6 participated in the children courses without any difficulties - and they loved it. Safety is very important to these people and you get a proper instruction before you start. Staff keeps circulating the area ready to assist you if you need help. Small restaurant near by for water and ice cream. We love it!

Trails on the trees for all sizes. Perfect with kids, friends or whole family. Shadowed in the forest, it's a good alternative to the closely beach for warmer days. Bring water and some food with you (in case the bar is closed like in our occasion)

Adventure it is! What a beautiful place and great facilities. It's very safe, the staff is helpful and professional and the tracks are challenging. Great entertainment for a great price (2,5 hours for €18 per person).

Gratto Giusti was an incredible oasis. This beautiful property is located on 40 acres, tucked in the corner of a quaint village. From the entering the driveway and gates, the to the lobby entrance, reception area and room everything was outstanding. The grounds and all the amenities were wonderful, feeling more as a guest of the estate and not a hotel. Thoughtful touches throughout the spaces and guest room were very appreciated. The natural spring pools and lounging areas throughout the spa were, relaxing and picturesque.

We had a wonderful time at the spa. We got a day package with the meditarium circuit, the outdoor pool, and the grotto and we also booked 2 swedish massages. The meditarium circuit was fine. It was nice to spend some time in the saunas and swapping between hot and cold but nothing too special. The massages were great. Not quite as much pressure as american massages but very relaxing and nice. The cave was cool. It was fun to walk around and then sit for a while in the heat. A fun experience that is very unique, which really is the point of traveling yes? Our favorite part was the pool! It was pretty and warm and not too crowded. Very peaceful way to spend an afternoon. We also ate at the cafe, which was deillicious and enjoyed sitting by the pool with our food.

Absolutely beautiful boutique hotel in Tuscany! Staff service was phenomenal and the rooms are beautiful. Great restaurant and bar and of course the thermal pool and spa are spectacular (get the mud scrub/olive oil massage). I was lucky enough to meet the management team and they are true hospitality professionals. Thank you for a magical stay!

The staff were super friendly and the pool area was great for relaxing, but the massage I came for just didn’t quite hit the mark. For €160 I was hoping for something a bit more intuitive and dynamic, but it felt repetitive and light on pressure. Very routine and not exceptional, which isn’t what I was expecting at that price point. I really wanted to love this place, but if you’re mainly coming for a massage, you might find better options nearby.

My husband and I chose to come here as part of our 10th anniversary travels. Unfortunately the experience fell short of our expectations based on what was advertised. The location of the hotel is just outside the city. Let me express that the hotel is Mansion”like”.. the grounds, and hotel are grande. The thermal spa was overstated for the $50.00 per person for only an hour inside the grotto. So $50.00 to sit inside the cave for 50 minutes. THE ABSOLUTE most disappointing part was the view. The room was a beautiful junior suite overlooking the TRASH BINS. HARDLY the garden view promised. We got to our beautiful room, unpacked then opened the windows to see the trash bins plus some towel storage facility, The people were nice and food was impeccable however if you are looking for anything to do, you are extremely limited to pools, jacuzzi, sauna and costly spa/massages as the town is not set up for tourism.

Two night stay. Breakfast was good . The thermal pools were included (would not pay extra for them). We did not explore the grotto given time constraints. Would definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. We were a family of 5. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The property is amazing with the rooms, the spa and the swimming pool. We enjoyed the outside restaurant. We will definitely come again.

Spent about two hours here with the family ranging from little kids to older adults and had a great experience at this zoo. We got to see a lot of different animals including the wolves, bears, zebras, ostriches, penguins, monkeys, and giraffes. Great way to spend an afternoon. There were a bit of hills to walk up and down but there was a nice amount of shade so it was bearable in the hot weather.

Very nice Zoo! A bit smaller that I expected but animals are well taken care of and have very nice enclosures (even if some may look dated). Biggest issue is getting there which is very difficult without a car. The are busses that in the morning and then after 15:00 but if you arrive at let's say 9:00 (last morning bus), then by 12 you most likely have seen the whole place. We chose to go by foot from Pistoia (Google says it's 45 walk) but this way you end up walking by a very busy road without side road. There's also not much to see in the area besides the Zoo, so take it into consideration when planning to go there.

Nice Zoo. The distance between toilets and store and restaurant in the Zoo has been extremely well thought, I am saying that as a mother with 2 children. Also everything was quite clean. Only minus is that a lot of the "interesting" animals were not there/ or well hidden (Tiger, mini Hippo, Zebras etc.) but otherwise worth the visit.

Nice zoo, not too big. We went there on a bit of a rainy day. Luckily dogs were allowed un the zoo, and the animals reacted good on it. The zoo is very green in between woods and they have beautiful animals. Good restaurant too. It was very spontaneous to go there for us, but we enjoyed ourselves. We were in there for ±5h including long lunch at the restaurant.

If you are a scooter or motorbike enthusiast this is the place for you! So much to see, so much info and such knowledgeable staff. It was amazing to see how Piaggo/Vespa developed. To see how the scooter has changed over the years, to see rare things. They also have a motorbike collection too with bikes ridden by greats such as Rossi. Wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Free entry but please give a reasonable donation to keep such a wonderful museum going.

The most impressive free museum I have ever visited. It offers a rich and broad representation of the company's history and exposes visitors to the people behind the scenes of Vespa's success. Beyond that, I also learned a lot of new things, such as the subsidiaries I had no idea existed and the impressive record of competition victories. The museum offers an audio guide (available in several languages, we used English) that accompanies the exhibits, and each section has its own part that can be accessed via a QR code. Fascinating and highly recommended.

It was a fun, relaxing ride, you have plenty of information available on the spot regarding its history an elevation angles. And the view from Montecatini Alto is magnificent. The funicular program makes it hard to miss the experience (it is open until 24.00).

The journey is gentle and slow enough to be able to enjoy the view. Staff were friendly and a return ticket is €7. We enjoyed our visit to Montecatini Alto, there are several small shops and a central square with restaurants, a bar, and Gelato shop. lots of outdoor seating and shade in a medieval village.

If you're in Montecatini then you should visit Montecatini Alto using the Furnicular! This is the mountain Railcar that takes you up to the small town with big views! Trains run every 30mins all day and night (not overnight) and tickets cost €7.50

Most impressive location with great view and many tokens of Catholic devotion. The church is located on top of a hill with a great view and inside you find a huge collection (over 12.000!) of tokens. Even if the religious part is not your thing, it's still worth a visit for the great view and the short trip by cableway.

this is a beautiful monastery located in the hilltops above Livorno. It’s a short bus ride make sure the bus that you take is clearly marked Montenero because initially I took the one that went to the beach and so I had to take the different bus and I lost a half hour of time but no big deal still totally worth it. it’s about 45 minutes from the train station in Livorno. the views are beautiful especially on a clear day. And it has a electrically powered cable car system really it’s a funicular that continuously runs probably until about six PM and so make sure you check the timetables and don’t forget to validate your tickets on all the buses

By far the best experience in Livorno and there were many. This bar is situated next to The Grand Hotel on the sea front. Never the same experience with musicians and artist all visiting to set the vibe with the owners many available musical instruments being loaned to all. We obtained the ticket for the bell tower the cathedral, museum and the other church with underground archaeological remains, very good value. All three sites were amazing, especially the bell tower,a lot of steps but worth it.

This is my favorite tower! We've been all over and my family likes to go up on tall things, but I'm afraid of heights. This tower was awesome! The planters and center area were far enough back that I was totally fine hanging out at the top, without my fear causing me issues. It's a long climb up with a great view. I like that they also give families a little break on the price.

Great view of Lucca from the top! Steps start easy- wide stone steps in sets of 10 or so, then when you get higher you've got a metal gantry with a fair amount of steps to climb, with a tight twist at the end. They hang out into space which was a bit scary as I am NOT good with heights but it was worth it!

A stunning view of one of the most authentic cities in Tuscany. Lucca is known as the “city of one hundred churches” and one tower - a true example of genius in simplicity. The climb is relatively quick and not too difficult, with spots to rest along the way. Reaching the top, you find yourself on a small 20-square-meter island among the trees, surrounded by mountains. It’s an incredible feeling. They’ve even managed to grow new trees up there — a tiny garden raised high above the city. The view is breathtaking from nearly every angle!

To my opinion this is a number one place to visit in Lucca. Its quite unique to see such a 45 m high tower made of brick and stone of local Romanesque-Gothic architecture with trees growing on its top. Just imagine, in the beginning of 14th century there was about 250 towers in Lucca! And as for every tower, if you climb up 233 steps you'll be awarded by 360deg view of old city of Lucca and surrounding mountains. View is stunning, just keep in mind the upper platform is very small that you can barely surround it because of crowds. Entrance is from behind the tower, not on the main street. If you want to buy ticket on place you'll have to probably wait about 15 minutes till the new slot is released, as this place is the most visited in the city. To buy tickets online its very difficult as the website doesn't work properly.

Good fun getting up all the 230 odd steps! Well worth it for the fantastic panoramic views of Lucca! Good exhibition of the artist Antonio Bueno included in the ticket price.

A bit pricey but definitely worth a visit. If you have trouble walking you shouldn’t get up here as there’s a lot of steps and no other way of getting up. Great view over the city and the other towers. Nice with the trees providing shadow when you’re up here. Adult is 8€ and a child 8-14 is 6.5€

A LOVELY SURPRISE. We booked this after seeing the poster outside as we walked nearby. The concert deserved much better publicity. Having seen many amateurish ‘tourist opera’ performances in Italian cities in the past we were sceptical ( Sorrento Three Tenors was the worst )… but the standard was high and professional with a programme of all Puccini arias. The finale was the gorgeous Love Duet from Madama Butterfly. The programmes and soloists are different every night so you could have many days of pleasure. Not sure why tickets must be bought for cash ( we are in travel industry and have never struck this before ). A good night with the dedication and voice of soprano Deborah Vincenti deserving a special mention. The accompanist needs to provide more support in tone and commitment ( looked a bit ‘over it’)

A wonderful dive into Italian culture. It was great and intimate. I can also recommend it with children (who generally like concerts) since it doesn't last too long (about one hour).

A short walk...even with your roller bag...from the train station to the walls of Lucca. I always get a smile when the gate comes into view. The walled city of Lucca still holds plenty of lore with its many restaurants and merchants. This trip we stayed at the Grand Universe right in the center of Lucca so we could be immersed in the city culture and people.

We used the ramp at Porta di San Pietro to take a one-hour stroll anticlockwise along the wall. The views of the old city on one side and of the Lucca hills and Apuan Alps on the other are charming and inspiring. Due to lack of time we were not able to walk the entire length (4.4 km) of the wall, but the segment we did, was organized as a usual public park. The park would benefit of informative panels that could provide visitors with historical context and details on the surrounding area.

My favourite part of our visit to Lucca was the Mura di Lucca. An absolutely brilliant use of the city wall by having a multipurpose recreational trail on top of the wall! Paved for walking and wheeling, the many ramps give ready access for users. The bulwarks of the wall have parks, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Several museums and the Botanical gardens are accessed from the trail. The Mura also has several gates as well as pedestrian tunnels. Stunning views of the hills surrounding Lucca. Worth a saunter!

This is THE beach club! Stefano and Claudia are incredible hosts. Giving restaurant recommendations, calling for taxis. This isn’t just a business, you are family! Beautiful sea and beach with a variety of options, tents (cabana style) or umbrellas. We enjoyed our three days and will certainly return from our home in Orvieto. This is our Italian beach location.

Maurizio beach is wonderful. Stefano who runs the family business is a lovely person who made us feel very welcome. The beach is exceptionally clean. The facilities are of a very high standard and very good value for money. €25 for two people for the whole day in August.

Wonderful historical place. Lots of beautiful building full of history.

Small mountain village with plenty of shops and places to eat. Stopped during Octoberfest and was pleasantly surprised it was not overcrowded. Definitely worth a visit if traveling in the area.

It's now a shopping center, not very historic though there is some literature on the place before it was rebuilt.

At the end of the public wharf - Sunset has what most other Camaiore locations lack - a beautiful view of the Med and of the Apuan Alps behind you.
