Very well restored castle in western Italy. Visit is by your only which seems to leave every half hour. Out guide did not speak English but tried nevertheless very hard to accommodate us, which was not an issue because there are good explanation signs at each stop. A very interesting historical site dating back to the 1200's.

Well preserved castle in a beautiful area in north italy (Aosta). Visiting is by guided tour only. The tour is in Italian, and you can rent audio translation aids. The tour takes about 40-45 minutes and walks through most main chambers of the castle. The art is well preserved. Recommended stop on your way to the Italian Alps.

A classic pentagonal fortress, with towers and walls, long abandoned and used by the locals as a warehouse until its restoration, commissioned by an architect on behalf of the State. The large fireplace in the center of the castle is beautifully designed taking into account the cold and the need to keep the interior warm. The visit lasts about an hour, guided only, with numerous insights into the history of the castle and small peculiarities of the past, such as the almost sitting position during the night's rest so as not to be mistaken for a deceased person or the small faces engraved on the towers to keep evil spirits away. Dogs allowed in a carrier. It is recommended to purchase one of the many tourist cards of the Aosta Valley to be able to visit all the sites and castles of the region.

Stunning from the outside. Pretty basic and repetitive on the inside. Rooms are not decorated, but display a loooot of wooden chests. Only visitable with Italian guide, every half hour. English audiotour available, which provides similar info as the panels in the rooms. You need to give them your id to get a audiotour.

Elegant castle from the 12th century and now owned and administered by the province of Aosta. It has been completely restored from being close to a ruin, including the many indoor and outside paintings depicting religious and noble figures. You cannot visit the castle on your own and have to wait till a guide becomes available which precludes too many people inside the premises at one time. There is a lot to be learnt about how nobles lived and traveled during past centuries including why three legged chairs were used to avoid tipping over on the uneven floor surfaces. It made me remember growing up on the tree legged chair "the ant" designed by the famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen in the 1950-s. So nothing is really new under the sun...

Interesting history. You must go inside only with a tour, no self guided tours. Amazing artwork frescoes.

A unique experience, the castle is located on a hill with breathtaking views. Inside, it still has items from its time.

Very good quality starters (cold cuts and cheeses) typical from Italy and Spain. We chose Pasta (very Well cooked) accompanied with an artisanal beer. Nice desserts and friendly staff. We loved it. Didn’t give 5 starts because the restaurant itself is not “wow”, just a simple cozy bottega. But food-wise definitely worth it!!

Had a wonderful lunch with the family today. I definitely recommend the cured meats and cheeses platters, as well as the tagliatelle with culatello and parmesan! But generally speaking we were satisfied with the food and wine. The location is cosy, especially the 'underground' area. Service is nice, and you can purchase most of the products you have enjoyed after eating (which we definitely have done!) - we will come back!

The food was amazing, we tried the cheese and ham plate, that was really good. Beyond that, we tasted the tagliatelle and the polenta that were excellent. But, unfortunately, our experienced was affected by one staff that didn’t treat us very welcoming when we tried to get a table in the restaurant.

Delicious lunch here, a cute little 7 seat restaurant with wonderful local dishes and an amazingly inexpensive wines by the glass list. I only wish we had more of an appetite so we could have tried some of the meats and cheeses they had in their shop, but the tagliolini with butter, parm and white truffles was perfect, and the polenta in the La Carbonade was one of the best I’ve had!

A little pricey and they won't serve you tap water : you have to buy an expensive bottle. Other than that, great food and nice staff!

This is the pinnacle of Matterhorn visit for any tourist. The highest cable car station with temperatures hoovering around sub zeros. Here you have three basic options one to visit the panoramic 360 view tower through a lift, second you can walk on the glacier upto the hiking trail to Breithorn and third you can the glacier cave by foot with mesmerising snow sculptures, crevices of glaciers to view live, and a walk through the sub zero temperature. You can easily spend atleast half a day but last of the cable car being at 6 p.m.

I definitely recommend, there activities for the whole day! First go to the top, enjoy the view and snow, you can climb the mountain if you want, enjoy Ice Palace, then. Go slowly down, there is lots of trails , lakes, there is amazing restaurants with the breathtaking view. I started 8.30 and came back to hotel 6pm... It worth every penny!

Overall, this is a great ride up close to the mountain. There’s a bunch of activities to do once you reach Klein Matterhorn. The cable car ride itself is worth the price because of how high it takes you and the views you get. However, if I compare this to Jungfraujoch I felt like our experience was much better in Jungfrau. If you’re in Zermatt though, this is what I’d recommend going for vs Gornergrat.

Wow...we were not sure when we arrived on Sunday evening as it was raining and we could not see anything. We decided to do the glacier paradise which was the best decision. Going up, we ran into heavy clouds and snow, we could barely see 4 m in front of us. The cable car was awesome. There is an ice castle with ice art, amazing stuff. Take extremely warm clothing, it gets below 5 degrees there. There is a good coffee and food shop, with other stuff like gifts, etc. There was snow so we got to play in the snow. The view point was closed unfortunately due to the heavy winds and the matterhorn was not visible. Overall, I'll do it again. And, ALWAYS GET A FULL OR HALF PASS DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOU PLAN TO STAY. Half pass for short stays, full pass for longer stays.

Climbing the glacier at 3004 meters above sea level was an unforgettable experience. An elevator can also be taken down to a cave with ice images, part of which is located in Italy. The platform is with the elevator up and in good weather you can see an unforgettable view of the Matterhorn.

Matterhorn Glacier Paradise was absolutely amazing. Easy gondola ride up from town, and the views at the top are insane. You’re surrounded by glaciers and massive peaks, and you can even spot mountaineers and skiers out on the snowfields. We hiked the Matterhorn Glacier Trail partway down, and the scenery was nonstop. Alpine lakes, rocky terrain, and the Matterhorn in the background the whole way. Easily one of the highlights of our trip to Zermatt.

Absolutely mind-blowing experience. I cannot recommend this enough, especially if you choose a day with perfect weather. The views are stunning from top to bottom. The Glacier paradise doesn't disappoint, the statues are amazing!

The view and the natur is breathtaking. Not an easy hike to reach it, so i not offer it for beginners.

Beautiful lake located betweens the mountains. The climb towards the lake is nice path to walk for all ages. After going to lago d'arpy you can do other sightseeing, a bit of fitness is required in my opinion. Would love to go back to see this blue, quiet and beautiful lake.

You need to make sure you park in the right place to walk to this lake, not where Google tells you too! You used to be able to reach it from lower in the valley but rock slides have closed the path, now you need to park up by the restaurant and walk from there.

Nature is so beautiful, lots of marked trails for hikers and so clean. It is a stunning experience and such a lovely place, recommended for both hikers and those who are not. Train ride up there is around 40 minutes from Zermatt if you are planning to go all the way up, or a bit less if you are planning to hike a bit till the top station.

Phenomenal - very beautiful mountain surrounded by very beautiful landscapes and a great small cozy town, Zermatt🤩. I was there in July 2023 and it was amazing. We had lunch at the restaurant in Schwarzee which was also with a very good view of Matterhorn and the surroundings. I can truly recommend going here, for sure!

This is an awesome mountain. Really steep on the cable car (what do you expect people who have put too steep) and nice and cool from the warm temperatures below (as you'd expect being 4000m above sea level).

Beautiful mountain scenery and cute sheeps. On Matterhorn, the sheep season was already over in October. But we were lucky to find sheeps on the hills west of Zermatt :)

Probably the icon you could think about Switzerland! Spent 3 days in Zermatt, found it not too difficult to have a look towards the peak as the distance and altitude is not that far away. Rifflesee (Gornergrat area) gives the best view with a mirroring lake surface. The 5 lakes hike in Sunnegga is also spectacular. Both hikes are easy and almost all downhill if you hop off the cable cars from higher stations.

In my experience it was way better than Jungfrau. My family loved it. You can take the tram to the second to last stop and start walking down along the track for a beautiful view of the lake, the top of the mountain, the valley.

Juan showed me an absolutely amazing time on the slopes. I was able to really be myself in Zermatt around him, he was honestly the best thing about my trip. Speaking to him about the love for skiing and his excitement has influenced me. I’m no longer afraid to go and try on my own. I can’t wait until next year, I feel so confident because of this! I really can’t believe how fast he taught me. I was turning and skiing within the hour! I was able to send a video to my dad and family back home, as well as friends and colleagues. You will definitely have priority for ski lessons should anyone book. This has changed my entire world in winter sports and I will now be an annual skier. I really can’t say enough good things about this experience!

We booked a private lesson for 2 with Matterhorn Diamonds 2 weeks ago and it was the best decision ever. We were fortunate to have Lukáš as our instructor, which completely changed the way I see and enjoy skiing. He was patient and always looking for our moves and posture, giving advices and building the confidence and proper mindset to approach any slope. We started with less steep blue slopes and gradually increased the difficulty ending up doing red slopes and having one of our best times on ski. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who feels the need to take a few classes and learn how to approach slopes, improve their posture and gain confidence. Our experience with Juan and Rowena was exceptional! Last year, my 10-year-old daughter had an amazing time skiing with Juan, thanks to the quick arrangement made by Rowena, even on short notice. This year, we returned to Zermatt, and once again, Juan and Rowena provided us with another fantastic ski experience. Juan's week-long sessions with my daughter were not only enjoyable but also incredibly effective in improving her skills significantly. Matterhorn Diamonds were great to work with from start to finish! Some friends and I rented skis, boots, helmets, jackets and pants through their team and they coordinated a guide/instructor for our first day on the mountain. They accommodated all of my requests via email and were very prompt and friendly. I was so grateful for the wonderful ski day their team provided. Juan was our guide/instructor and he was absolutely splendid to spend the day skiing with. I have been skiing my whole life and consider myself an advanced/expert skier from Utah and he was able to provide helpful instruction on ways I could improve as the terrain here is different from my usual. The other skier in our party is more novice to skiing and she was very much improved and more confident at the end of the day with his expert instruction. Juan had such a detailed way of explaining ski movement making his instruction easy to implement on the slopes. He was knowledgeable about the mountain and it’s history/culture and accommodated everything we wanted to accomplish. He was truly wonderful and we so enjoyed our experience with him and the rest of the diamond team.

I wanted my son to brush up on his skiing this August after his travel baseball season ended in July. He played football last school year but decided to join the high school ski team this winter. Since he hadn't skied very often the last couple seasons I contacted Ski Zenit and asked if they could help him shake off the rust. Since this is a camp for experienced ski racers we opted for a 5 day private lesson on the Saas Fee glacier. Rich was my Ski Zenit contact and he couldn't have been more accomodating. He planned our transportation from Geneva and laid out everything we would need to be prepared and make this excursion a success. My son's ski instructor, Chris, sent us daily videos and kept us informed of his progress. He improved dramatically over the week and we couldn't be happier with his progress. Way to go Ski Zenit!

Chris was able to tailor the lessons very well to everyone’s skill level, and took us to a variety of terrains where we practiced and improved on various techniques. I had an incredible experience with Ski Zenit! After 28 years away from skiing, I decided to book a private lesson, and I was lucky enough to have Chris as my instructor. His teaching approach was clear, patient, and highly effective. In just one session (2.5h), he taught me the essential skills I needed to move forward confidently. Chris made everything easy to understand and apply, and his encouragement was incredibly motivating. We booked the trainer Ellen for 1 week. We had so much fun and where able to ski on the first day. Ellen is quit and very professional. We had really a great time. We had a fantastic experience with Zenit. Our instructor Tim was brilliant, super patient, fun and helpful. Really super day, but we are keen walkers and wildlife watchers. Daughter loved seeing the animals in their natural habitat. The only thing I would say is that it isn't very clear that the bus doesn't run on a weekend and it is a strenuous walk up to the park from Les Houches.

The 4th visit, 1st time with the Family and they loved it. We managed to see most of the animals. The walk from parking to the park is very steep and may be ling depending how crowded it is and if you have elders or children.

One of the best activities in the area! I really enjoyed the hiking trail, and the animals are absolutely beautiful. If you’re an animal lover, you’ll definitely enjoy it. It’s also very kid-friendly. 💙 Note: It’s best to drive all the way to P1, as the hike to the entrance is quite long.

Doesn’t worth the entry fee. Limited number of animals. It’s fare to say that they charge for the view. The view to Month Blanc is great. Beautiful scenery. There isn’t even a decent bench to sit and have a snack.

Really lovely place to walk around and see the animals, we didn't see everything but we did see Marmots which my children were very happy about. There are a few places to park but it's quite a walk from the car parks up the hill to the entrance - try and park as close as you can, don't stop at the first place you see. When we visited in the afternoon, we drove as far as we could up the road and found a spot in the top car park - if we had taken the first slot we saw, we would have over 1km to walk up which, with 2 small children, would have been painful. You need to reserve online before going - you pay when you get there , The views of the surrounding area are fantastic. There's a cafe and gift shop, all over priced as you'd expect...

Took this trip to explore more of the Mont Blanc range and wasn't disappointed. Incredible journey up the side of the mountains, sharing the trip with mountaineers who were off to the summit. Good choice of walks from the top - clothing for cooler weather & good footwear essential.

Impressive castle ruins on one of the hills in the old town area. Something of a walk from the station, quite a lot of it uphill, but doable. Impressive views from the top over the town and to the mountains around the town. Fun for families and those with children. Well worth spending a couple of hours. In the old town area of Sion. Worth seeing all the castles.

Was hosted by the charming and knowledgeable Cedric for the free guided tour. It is a must do and provides insights and access not usually open to the public. Would happily pay a ticket price for this 90 min experience. It's a fab venue to explore, just make sure you allow time for the ascent. Well worth it. Stories and Sion's history on display with views to match!

The castle is rather a ruin. You don’t get to see a lot once you enter. However, you get a fantastic view over Sion and the whole valley. I would recommend it. It takes about 20 minutes to get there. If summer, can be very hot as the climb is exposed to the sun. The entrance is free. However, if interested in the history, there is the possibility to do a guided tour.

Tourbillon Castle is a castle ruin located on the hill of the same name, northeast of Sion's old town. Tourbillon was built at the end of the 13th century by Bishop Boniface Challant. In 1788, the castle was destroyed by the great city fire. Archaeological excavations show that the hill was already inhabited in the 5th millennium BC. In the Middle Ages, it served as a watchtower during times of war. This is indicated by the remains of a keep. A document from around 1270 lists the names of people who were required to man the watchtower on the hill in times of war. The construction of the castle in its current dimensions was initiated by Bishop Boniface Challant in 1297. The building was intended to protect the city of Sion from the rebellious nobility under Peter IV of Turn. In 1373, Bishop Gitschard Tavel acquired the "Meier's Tower," located on the western slope of the hill, and made it his main residence. In the summer and during periods of impending danger, Tourbillon Castle served as his seat. From 1352 to 1361 and from 1384 to 1392, the Counts of Savoy occupied and administered the castle. In 1417, Tourbillon was finally conquered and partially destroyed by the Upper Valais during the Raron trade. Between 1440 and 1450, Bishop William III of Raron had the castle rebuilt on its original foundations and the castle chapel repainted. On May 24, 1788, a hurricane-like storm swept across the Rhône Valley. At 1:00 p.m., it sparked a fire that the firefighters were unable to extinguish. Within three hours, 226 buildings fell victim to the fire, including the episcopal castles of Majoria and Tourbillon. The complex is currently being restored and maintained by the Fondation du Château de Tourbillon. The castle ruins are open to the public from mid-March to mid-November.

The castle on its own is fantastic, and the views are incredible. But the experience is made much richer by doing the tour (by donation). Our tour with Cedric, was one of the best historical tours we've experienced. He provides a rich depth of information and access to the chapel and tower which were well worth it. Highly recommended!

Visiting Tourbillon Castle in Sion was truly a special experience. The castle stands on a high hill, and though the path up is somewhat steep, the views along the way are already remarkable. Reaching the top, I was rewarded with a breathtaking panorama that stretched over the town of Sion, the Rhône Valley, and the majestic Swiss Alps in the background—a beauty beyond words. Walking among the ancient stone walls and the remnants of the castle, I felt transported back in time, imagining the important role this place must have played in the medieval era. While Tourbillon Castle now stands as a ruin, its architectural beauty and the harmony it shares with the surrounding natural landscape give it a unique and almost mystical charm. There’s a romance to the place, enhanced by its weathered structures and the sense of history that fills the air. The castle offers a 360-degree view of the surroundings, and visiting in the late afternoon was especially magical. The setting sun cast a golden light over the mountains and the town, creating a scene that felt like a painting. In those quiet moments, I found myself reflecting on the lives of the people who once lived here and the history that this castle has witnessed—it was truly moving. If you ever have a chance to visit Sion, Tourbillon Castle is an absolute must-see.

We had a great visit. It was very organized and modern. we bought tickets online and then had to transfer the tickets at the ticket counter. The boat tour takes about 30 minutes and I really liked the guided tour in three languages. I recommend it.

This underground lake is a true hidden gem with crystal blue water, reflecting the objects beneath like a mirror. While you are drifting across the surface by boat, the tour guide will share useful information about the site in French, German, and English (He is a very knowledgeable and funny guy haha). The cave condition is still very good as well as the cleanliness of the water. The temperature inside stays at a constant 15°C so bring a light jacket, in case you feel cold. A 30-minute ride is totally worth it!

Enjoyed this experience. The lake was so clear. Guide did a good job of sharing information in multiple languages. It was a 15 min walk from the train station.

Interesting place for a thirty minute fun boat drive. Photos look nice because of the lighting and the guide was very good. Interesting tidbit as per the guide the temperature inside is always about 15 degrees centigrade throughout the year.

Well worth a visit. Good for families and those with children. Just one stop from Sion, and a short 15-20 minute walk from the station. Clear water, fascinating location. Fish in the water. Also available for hire for events, which must be quite something on the lake and underground. Short tour in the boat, well worth the short trip if visiting Sion.

“A Hidden Symphony Beneath the Earth” : We traveled from Basel for the 13:00 pm slot of the boat tour. Although the journey was longer than the boat tour itself, it was absolutely worth it. The St. Léonard Underground Lake is an unbelievable, fantastic wonder of nature—truly breathtaking and unique. The photos on the website look amazing—you might even think they’re Photoshopped or AI-generated, but they’re not. You have to visit to believe it’s real. There was nothing to dislike—from start to finish it was awesome. The tour guide was fantastic; he asked who spoke German, French, and English, and even though only four of us were English speakers, he still translated everything in all three languages. Kudos to his patience and for keeping the same enthusiasm throughout. Booking was smooth and very convenient—no issues at all. I would absolutely recommend this experience to friends (in fact, I already have!), and many are now looking forward to visiting it themselves. There’s also a small spot where you can order pizza and drinks. Nothing fancy, but perfect for satisfying quick hunger. Just when you come out, there’s also a souvenir shop with nice items to remember your visit. The caves are easy to reach, with clear signs, and accessible even by public transport. Just a short portion of the way is uphill, but it’s manageable. Overall, this is one of those rare places where nature leaves you speechless. A visit to St. Léonard Caves is not just a tour—it’s an experience you’ll carry with you long after you leave.

I’m glad I ignored the handful of negative reviews, which mostly are from a few years ago. These thermal baths are quiet, in a stunning location and with helpful, friendly staff. The view from the outdoor pool is beautiful, the spa “village” is very good and the Aufguss - every two hours - was excellent; the man who led it was a master with the towels! The Roman-Irish bath was well done - sure, it’s not Baden-Baden and the facilities are a bit tired in places, but I’m very pleased I made the trip.

Wanted somewhere to relax after a day waking in the mountains and was going to go to one of the other pools after reading the reviews. The other place was too busy for me so decided to ignore the reviews and try here. So glad we did. The pools are lovely and the outdoor pool has a stunning view It wasn't at all crowded and so relaxing. Yes the changing rooms may need an update and some of the lockers too but they were clean and the staff helpful and friendly

The Spa/ Therme is in a bad condition. In the shower the handle fall off, lights are broken, the floor in the water is dirty. Multiple elevators are broken. One Sauna is out of orders for years and I payed 40.- CHF for 3h. All that said, it's a shame cause the building itself is beautiful and has a great view. Of you owner of this spa reading this review: Please please please renovate this spa! It would be a shame to see it go under.

we were checking this place out to experiance another thermal spring in leukerbad. sadly this place wasnt worth going since it was almost deserted (including the mal which was almost dead (most shops where closed for good and empty), and the baths were poorly visited (mid july!). it was a weird experience. economicaly this doesnt seem to check out anymore. also lots of stuff in bad shape and poorly maintained.

Absolutely wonderful place for the family. Lots to do, spotlessly clean, friendly staff. No matter the weather this is a great year round activity. After you have paid you don’t need to worry about anything else, your wrist band is your locker key and how you pay at the bar. On the way out scan your wrist band on the pay machine and pay for your drinks.

I have absolutely loved it. There are so many things to do: water slides, outdoor and indoor pool, pool bar, sauna and so on. There are also facilities to people with children. Minuses: - Towel is not included, so bring yours. - We did not find any water fountains.

Worth doing at least once ! I really enjoy the place… you can just swim on top, or slide in the tube with the kids!! Or just relax on the other level, where water is just so great…

I have visited this location during both the winter and late summer seasons, and the views were consistently impressive. The water temperature was notably pleasant. While the buildings exhibit some age, the environment offers a relaxing and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages. Furthermore, the pricing is quite reasonable, especially for Swiss standards. The facility also provides a small dining area for guests who wish to bring and consume their own meals.

I liked the landscape and the diversity of options, both indoors and outdoors. I didn't find the installations particularly beautiful, but they were clean, perfectly working, and all seemed fairly priced. We didn't wait, and the employees were very welcoming.

The main indoor and outdoor pools look newly renovated and are in excellent condition. There’s also a children’s pool and a small play area, which makes it great for families. The spa area is in good shape, though a bit small. It includes a steam bath, three or four saunas at different temperatures, and a cold-water pool outside. The spa area is nude-only, and access to it costs an additional 15 CHF. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

Truly magical experience and views! One of my favourite places- strongly recommend to visit early in the morning (before the crowds). Most people stay at the lake itself but the beautiful views are high above- go for the Panoramic hike trail (it’s marked as hard but we had no issues even tho we’re not an active hikers-note that’s it is not suitable for kids,strollers or small dogs as the path in some places are quite narrow and steep ). The trail is circle one- you start with some climbing and at the end you go down to the lake and back to the main point with the restaurant (this way you’ll see everything - it’s great to do your lunch at one of the spots above the lake)

Fantastic day spent at the lake! Most beautiful landscape I have been to ever. Renting a boat was a special experience- an absolute must. You need to have cash if you want to visit a small cafe (or their WC) on the top.

Beautiful and rewarding hike! We decided to hike up to the lake and truly enjoyed it (hiking shoes are highly recommened). The trail is very pleasant, not too difficult – it took me about 90 minutes to reach the top. The entire way, we were accompanied by breathtaking views of the valley and surrounding mountains and waterfalls. And then the lake… simply magical – a soft blue color framed by mountains that look like a painting. There are benches all around the lake, so you can sit, relax, and soak in the stunning scenery. The walk down was much easier and took us only 50 minutes. Highly recommended!

Though climb, but do-able for those who are affraid of hights. Walked from Kandersteg towards the see (lake) and back. Great restaurant near the lake with great goulash. Tip: Walk to the viewpoint 500 mtrs from the restaurant to have a great view on 30% more snow.

We loved visiting this lake — the view is absolutely superb, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Switzerland. There is a bit of walking involved at both parts of the journey: first, a short walk from Kandersteg to reach the cable car station, and then another easy hike at the top from the cable car to get to the lake itself. But the whole route is very scenic and very doable. Tickets for the cable car were super easy to purchase and everything was well-marked and convenient. Once you arrive at the lake, the turquoise water surrounded by dramatic mountains is just breathtaking. We took tons of photos and just enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Truly worth the effort — highly recommended!

SO easy to get to the lake, if you're someone that can't or doesn't want to walk too much but still wants to see a very beautiful spot in Switzerland.. I think this location is perfect for you. They even provide a mini bus that goes up and down to the lake!

(Late August) It's about a 20min walk from the train to the lift. At one point during the walk you have a beautiful view of the mountians while on large green grass field. The ride up the gondola is about 10mins. During peak time get to the gondola early. There's a nice simple food place when you first get up where you have amazing views of the mountians. Then it's a 20min all down hill walk to the gorgeous lake. There are a few different food options. Despite it being crowded there was enough room to have a spot to sit on the grass. Instead of walking back to the gondola, which would've taken us atleast 45mins since its all uphill, we decided to walk all the way down. It took us about 50mins to walk down and then 15 more mins of flat walking to get back to the train. There is also a free shuttle available that will take you from the gondolas down to the lake and back.

Well maintained castle, modestly furnished, with a collection of interesting frescoes and murals. Strategically built on a small island, it used both the Lake Geneva and a moat created between the island and the mainland for defense. Our group had arrived in the late afternoon just in time to enjoy free wine tasting of some local wines, then proceeded to explore the medieval halls and underground chambers. The view from some rooms onto the lake and the Alps is stunning. It is the most visited monument in Switzerland.

This lakeside Castle with breathtaking view was stunning, pictures didn't do it justice. Its magical setting made it one of Switzerland’s most enchanting landmarks. I fully enjoyed my visit, highly recommend.

Château de Chillon is actually really big to explore, especially with the guided map they provide you. I was so tired, a lot of exploring new rooms that never seem like it would end. If you didn’t know, this castle inspired Prince Eric’s in The Little Mermaid. You can hear tons of water sounds by the prison area. It was relative peaceful for me as there weren’t much crowds and kids, so sometimes I got to explore rooms alone.

Beautiful castle (Little Mermaid was inspired on it) with lots of history. I really recommend taking the audio guide which is super complete. It lets you wonder alone around the castle which is a magical experience. The castle is in great conservation, and the dungeons are particularly beautiful. Would recommend this visit if you’re around. You can buy tickets directly upon arrival, and the audio guide takes like 2h to complete

The best view I’ve had from any castle I’ve visited so far. The castle is beautifully preserved, with authentic medieval furnishings that clearly took great effort to maintain. It’s generously open to the public, with access to nearly every corner—even up the creaky wooden staircases, which add to the sense of stepping back in time. Free entry for Swiss pass holders. Two hours or longer is needed.

Fascinating experience. We spent several hours wandering through the castle. The careful preservation of this site allows an understanding of history, with excellent access to all areas both indoors and outdoors and detailed information boards throughout. It is also a lovely lakeside walk from Montreux (after ferry from Lausanne) and a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating is opposite. A truly wonderful morning.

Lake Thun has absolutely amazing scenery. We spent almost an entire day there and still couldn't get enough. Starting in the morning, we enjoyed the view from St. Beatus Cave, getting a panoramic picture of the lake from above. Then we continued our adventure by ship, circling the lake and savoring every corner. The lake has very clear water, with beautiful typical farmhouses and the Swiss Alps in the background, adding to the picturesque setting. Every corner of the lake was stunning, perfect for healing and taking a break from your busy life.

The morning view of Lake Thun from Beatenberg is simply breathtaking and worth waking up early for.

The museum was laid out very well, great selection of art, and friendly staff. It's not my style of art, however, the impact he had on modern movies is quite impressive. My perception is he was pursued by his own inner demons to create the style of art. (I do recommend the bar next door😉) As a side note, he supported bringing a new dimension to the historical castle and area which should not be underestimated.

It's an awesome place to explore the mind of H. R. Giger. From a mechanical perspective the details in his drawings and sculptures is insane and from an artistic perspective, at least subjective from my side - very interesting. If you like phallic/yonic shapes, it's a perfect way to experience them in all weird ways. I had a lot of laughs and good conversations with my GF over some drawings 😂 but also much appreciation over his art. He's 700 year waiting for B-Post sketches are priceless. If you think your child should accompany you - you are probably more weird than Mr. Giger himself. And only the best for Armbeinda.

The HR Giger Museum is an absolutely mind-blowing experience. Walking through the rooms feels like stepping straight into his surreal and dark universe – it’s both eerie and fascinating at the same time. The collection is huge, from his early sketches to the iconic Alien designs, and everywhere you turn there’s something that grabs your attention. It’s not just a museum, it feels like a journey into the mind of a true visionary artist. My wife and I kept pointing things out to each other, completely amazed by the level of detail and imagination. If you’re anywhere near Gruyères, this place is worth going out of your way for – unforgettable and one of a kind.

We had the most exciting time visiting this incredible museum with its extensive collection of artwork from HR Gigger. There are many exhibition rooms that we found very exciting to discover, my very favorite is a large table with high backed throne like chairs and life size sculpture of the Alien. Photos without flash are allowed.

Who would ever expect to find a sci-fi museum in the middle of a rural village best known for its cheese? And yet — there it is: the H. R. Giger Museum, showcasing the visionary works that earned him an Academy Award. Truly unique — weird and captivating at once — and absolutely worth a visit, especially set against the stunning panorama of Gruyères with its charming old town, castle and sweeping mountain views. PS: Don’t miss having a drink in the iconic bar just across from the museum.

If you like the artist who's artwork inspired the Xenomorph from the "Alien" franchise of movies then this is the museum for you. This covers all of HR Geiger's work not just the Xenomophs but other movies such as Species, as well as supernatural themes such as Satanic and magic based themes Due to this I would say personally that I wouldn't take anybody under 15 into the museum as I was made uncomfortable from some of the artwork and I am in my middle age and thought I was opened minded This art gallery is on 4 floors and while they will help you as much as they can to get around the museum, the village is medieval and very hilly so be advised that if you are like me with reduced mobility you may need to give yourself extra time The cost is reasonable at 12.50 swiss francs and you can't order advance tickets but due to the popularity of the village from tour groups get there as early as you can to avoid queues

Friendly staff and good music, drinks are a little expensive but everyone expected because the hype of the movie. Nice environment, good for a drink after knowing the village

Fantastic Medieval Castle For me this is one of the most fabulous castles in Switzerland with Chateau de Chillon or Vaduz (actually in Liechstenstein). The reason I really like it is the fact it is so well preserved you almost feel like you could be in the 13th century. The wood is still there which is quite unique. The whole feel is very grand. Bonus is that once you are here you can eat a great fondue in one of the local restaurants. Super worth it and recommended.

Enjoyed the visit to the castle very much, I happened to visit during medieval festival which was wonderful. Spent a couple of hours there. Lovely gardens as well. A great day's outing. I recommend going early morning to avoid crowds.

A nice small castle in Gruyère. You will learn how it changes over time as it was owned by a local count to the a rich artist family and lastly as a museum. The castle is interesting since it has also been used as a personal residence of artist family so there are a few rooms that looks like 19th century European home. You can also see beautiful scenery of surrounding village from the castle and also takes picture of beautiful garden. Two negative things that can be improved are: 1) There is a large signboard in the courtyard for ad. 2) There are some modern art installations that feel out of place within the castle (not dedicated space). Both break the immersion. Recommended to visit. 👍 Tips: You can buy join ticket with Maison du Gruyère or Giger Museum or Tibetan Museum.

This is a beautiful small town nestled in the swiss Alps. There are lots of shops and 3 cool museums to visit as well as a castle. The food was great but like in all the other reviews it's expensive. So if you want to eat cheep stop at the grocery store or McDonald's before heading up to the town.

Although we did not go inside, we enjoyed very much walking through the lovely town of Gruyeres all the way up to the castle and admired the beautiful view.

Although growing up in Switzerland, I had never visited Château de Gruyères before and hadn't even been aware of its existence. But I came across it online when planning my most recent visit to the country, and I'm glad I did, because it's an absolute gem and shouldn't be missed by anyone in the area! Unlike many other castles, it's well furnished, so lots of things to look at inside. Especially the tapestries I found sensational. There are also extensive exhibits that tell the story of Swiss tourism, which I found fascinating. Wondering around the castle was a real eye-opener, feeling like a true step back in time, interesting and educational. One thing to slightly criticise: The official Website is very slow, which can be a bit frustrating. Just wondering whether it's running on a slow server, which might benefit from an upgrade. I noticed this when planning the trip and just checked again now, encountering the same problem.

You can combo the castle ticket with the gruyere factory down below. Nice castle with perfect views up and down the valley. Three levels are open with a descent amount of artifacts. The fireplaces are something to pay attention to.

La Maison du Gruyère is a charming stop if you’re visiting the Gruyères region. The self-guided tour is short but informative, giving a nice overview of how the famous Gruyère cheese is made. You can see the production process through glass windows (especially interesting if you go in the morning when cheese is being made), and the free audio guide adds good context in multiple languages. You’re given cheese samples at different stages of aging, which is a nice touch. The interactive parts are kid-friendly and engaging, and the gift shop offers a wide range of local cheeses and souvenirs at reasonable prices. However, the experience is more educational than hands-on, so don’t expect to make your own cheese or interact with the cheesemakers. Still, it’s a great stop for an hour or so, especially if combined with the nearby Gruyères Castle or the chocolate factory in Broc. Worth a visit if you’re in the area!

The tour was very much shorter than expected. although very informational, and quite entertaining, I felt it went by too quickly. They gave us cheese to try before we started our tour, and boy was it delicious. We are glad we did it, and would recommend it to anyone! The cheese will not disappoint

A shorter but excellent experience to see how this traditional and famous Swiss cheese is made! It is quite short but as part of a bigger itinerary in the day this is perfect, best suited in combination with a trip to the castle, and well worth it! Their cafe is also really nice and the people are lovely, usually also very accommodating, and speak very good English, for those who have trouble with French.

We were in the area on vacation and decided to take a train down to Thun and look around. The castle is very prominent on the skyline and looks quite interesting. We walked though the building and looked at the various displays which were well done. Centuries of history briefly summarized. The building itself is the main attraction. We went all the way to the top into the corner towers. The roof structure was amazing. Definitely recommend!

Castle Thun is a must-see when visiting the town! The displays and information are well-curated, making it easy to explore everything in just 2–3 hours. There are also interactive sections, like the wooden architecture exhibit in the attic and rooftop area, and the fascinating collection of ancient armors and weapons. The castle is well-maintained, easy to navigate, and offers a great balance of history and experience.

Worth the trip. The castle is stunning and you can see artefacts of the Old Swiss Confederacy, such as halberds, tapestries and armors. The Knight's room and the room under the roof where particularly stunning. On top of that, 4 towers flanking the roof are accessible and give you wonderful views of the city

The basic castle tour was interesting, but I was disappointed to find that there were virtually no period furnishings in any of the rooms. The audio tour aid added tremendously to the understanding of the castle history. Look closely, though, to find the signs which indicate when to use the audio aid. I recommend paying the extra fee to use it. I enjoyed the views from the tower. I paid extra for the special exhibit, which I didn't feel was worth the fee; skip it unless you are interested in forms of medieval punishment.

Thun castle does not match the vibe of other castles of Switzerland like Gruyère castle and Chillion castle. The castle is poor in terms of content and exhibits. Not much to explore inside. The staff is very friendly and there are free locker rooms available to keep your luggage. The best part was the top level of Thun castle from where you get 4 different panoramic views of Thun city and Lake Thun. If you are visiting Thun city then definitely visit this place otherwise skip it. Entry to Thun castle is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

Great tour with ear phones you point to displays and learn more. I spoke to a chocolate decorator who has been there 25 yrs and he loves working there. Learn how to evaluate chocolate quality and taste and then get to sample many varieties of their chocolates. Superb place!

Absolutely worth a visit! Maison Cailler is an amazing experience from start to finish. There’s plenty of parking space, which makes visiting super convenient. Inside, you get to enjoy lots of free tastings of their delicious, high-quality chocolates every bite is a treat! My family enjoyed it so much The museum is beautifully done, fun, and educational great for both adults and kids. Outside, there’s a lovely park where children can play and enjoy the fresh air while you take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. A perfect spot for families, chocolate lovers, and anyone visiting Switzerland. Highly recommended!

We went on their tour, and it was an good experience! They had a ton of free samples and some really cool education and history. I wouldn’t drive there for 3 hours, but if you’re in the area, it’s definitely a nice stop.

Cailler museum was a pure delight. There was a separate production line just for samples. Loved every bit of the museum from the history of chocolates to modern day chocolate making in Switzerland. Of course the free samples and the discounted chocolates in the gift store were icing on the top!

The Cailler chocolate factory is a very interesting place to visit, with a well-designed tour that shows the history and production process. The experience is enjoyable and the chocolate tasting is definitely a highlight. It is a bit expensive, but still worth it for the quality of the visit. The shop at the end is excellent, offering a wide selection of high-quality chocolates and gifts

Arriving was a little intimidating. We went at a 4:00 on a Sunday, and the line waiting to enter the tour was already out the door. The way they have their store set up is very aesthetically pleasing. A whole wall full of chocolate bars! The tour its self was very entertaining. You are lead through different rooms where they tell you the story of their factory, with each room heavily decorated to tell you part of the story, going perfectly along with the audio tour. They had a chocolate machine making little chocolates right in front of you, which, after being wrapped, were then placed in a bowl specifically for you to eat! They had multiple testing stations after that, which I loved. It was all around worth every penny.

Worth to see. In fact, as I could observe this funicular is not spectacular. It's just small and short ride really, but it's a must do in Fribourg. A bit of the history of the city as it connects the old town with the new. I also in another day climbed the stairs next to it, which is not that exhausting.The funicular itself is made of wood and is quite old, which makes it special for me. ****

The price is included in the day ticket. So we thought we should try it. It's travels very short distance. It's not spectacular but an ok experience. Anyways there is not many touristy thing to visit near fribourg city center, so it can be visited once.

Beautiful cathedral! The stained glass, relics, statues organ and more make this a great stop. They had great pamphlets available in multiple languages and really interesting history.

An amazing experience and a chance to see some brown bears in real life. Great for kids but also adults who miss their childhood. Right next to the river, the park is both scenic and entertaining.

It’s quite astonishing to see a bear park right in the middle of the city — a truly unique setting. The enclosure is spacious, well-designed, and blends beautifully with the natural surroundings along the river. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into making it as comfortable as possible for the bears. Still, it’s a reminder that the animals are in captivity, which can feel a bit bittersweet despite the excellent care they receive.

The views are quite beautiful, and the bears are adorable, but I feel terrible they don't have more space to roam around in. They did build a little section in the river so when it is hot, the bears can at least cool down and fish :)

Love that they have a bear refuge near the city. They have so much room to roam. I would suggest adding more signs not to feed the bears or be fined. I saw some stupid kid form a different country throw something down in the bear area and the parents didn’t do anything.

Fantastic river walk along the Aare ends up at Bear Park. Complete with Bears! Stop off to spend some CHF for beers and food up top for great views.

Very nice attraction in the center of the town with a rare chance to see from close range real bears 🐻 very well designed for the wellbeing of the wild animals including also a swimming pool. Definitely a Must visit in the area

Very nice park at the top of Bern city, offering a place to rest and fantastic view. The restaurant is ideal to take a break from a walking tour, having all the city in "the plate". Very nice place for panoramic photos of the city and the river. A must visit

We were not able to have a table by the side, with the amazing view as we had not made a reservation. We came here on a whim. We were given 2 other seating options, 1 which we were warned we would be hit by the sun soon and the other on the other side near the kids playground on the high chair stools and table. The waitress who served us was super busy, there was a large party of 10 or so and lots of other small tables she was serving. She did her best to keep everyone happy. There was a bit of a wait time to order. Once the food came, it tasted good. However due to being summer, wasps started to appear and take over. The toilets are inside, downstairs, they were clean. Upon exiting the building we saw a huge amount of salad plates ready to go just sat on the side. Overall, it was good.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the city. In a hot summer day you will not be able to dine inside because it’s extremely hot and there isn’t AC. We dined at the patio and unfortunately were invaded by dozens of flies as soon as our food was received. We prompted to move everything inside. Service is mediocre.

I loved it. They place is very nice and clean, with outstanding views. Service is great and fast. I took the chicken sandwich for a quick lunch and it was very good.

Great place and truly scenery. Quality service and quality food. Thanks to the Chef and team. I’ll repeat the visit whenever back to Bern. If you choose to come from the down town of Bern; be prepared to pull enough energy to walk up thru the hill, which is a nice little warm up and workout before arriving to the restaurant. Also, it’ll be great to spot coupe or bears from the bridge while heading to the restaurant.

Great food, went there for the fondue but turned out fondue only runs trough the winter and spring which we didn’t know. But all was good and amazing view over the city The photo is from winter which we had a coffee and chocolate warm milk, nice

In my opinion, Bern's old town is one of the most beautiful and compact in the world. Its specialty is the arcades formed by the old buildings lining the streets. The arcades are lined with shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, etc. It is worth walking around the old town, also along the banks of the Aare River, and climbing to the Rosengarten to admire the magnificent view of the old town. Every time I visit Bern I feel amazed.

LOVE this pretty place! So historic and colorful, tons of lovely photo spots! Love the iconic fountain and huge clock tower, as well as all the cute trains and buses that came in different shapes and sizes 🚂🚌🇨🇭❤️. Was glad I dropped by Bern - after all it’s the capital of Switzerland, and a must drop by imo, even if it’s for a short day trip! 😆 I was really happy to be here 🥰👍.

A beautiful town, probably the nicest in Switzerland. In the morning it is less crowded and the streets are well conserved. The prices are really high, which makes the costs hardly affordable for foreigners

You are unwinding the clock back 500 years ago to experience the lifestyle in medieval time. The old street (made of sandstones), clock tower, cathedral surrounded by garden and river are breathtaking.

Beautiful and quaint little old town in the capital of Switzerland! I got there early so the streets were rather empty and it was nice taking a slow stroll down this street. The street was lined with familiar brands/shops, the trams ran down both sides and I almost felt like I was transported back to medieval times - except the modern shops bring me back to the present. If you walk further down, you’ll end up at the Bear Pit, another little tourist attraction of Bern.

Old Town Bern is picturesque both in the day and night. Can take Bus 12 from main square to Bear Park and return. If you stay in hotel, can get activation code for free bus ride in Bernapp. Else, can park at Casino car park but it's expensive.

Visiting the Zytglogge was a highlight of my trip to Bern. This 13th-century clock tower is not just a beautiful landmark, it’s a piece of living history. I arrived a few minutes before the hour and was amazed by the mechanical figures and the precise chime—it feels like stepping back in time. The surrounding Old Town streets are charming, full of cafés and little shops, making it a perfect spot to explore after watching the show. Whether you love history, architecture, or just a great photo opportunity, the Zytglogge is a must-see in Bern.

Walking through Bern’s Old Town, I stumbled upon Bim Zytglogge and was instantly charmed. The area around the clock tower feels like a slice of history—cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and the hourly show of mechanical figures on the astronomical clock. It’s a lively spot, with locals and tourists mingling, and plenty of cafés and shops nearby.

Such a nice Watch tower. Very interesting and of course, full of historical events to tell from it and its city, Bern. Really a great stop-by spot, a must when you'd like to see the spectacle of the watch with its figures moving at 6pm.

Its a big old clock. There is some entertaining bits on the west side every hour but dont expect anything dramatic like a giant cuckoo clock. Pretty cool though for an 800 year old piece of work.

Each corner of this town will make you feel to walking back in time. Such a beautiful place. You can visit the clock tower from inside for 10 chf
