Keraton Kasepuhan

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Keraton Kasepuhan, a grand palace built in 1447, is the residence of the Sultan of Kasepuhan and serves as a museum open to the public. It is one of four palaces in Cirebon, alongside Keraton Kacirebonan, Keraton Kanoman, and Keraton Keprabon. This 16th-century wonder is among the oldest and largest palaces in Cirebon with intricately designed throne rooms.
A large palace with several different smaller clusters of buildings. They have various ticket offerings from 2, 3, 4, and 5 sites at different pricing. We purchased the entire 5 sites, got to see the palace, museum, AI show, and sacred wells.
Carlitos — Google review
Keraton Kasepuhan seems to be the better choice out of the two palaces in Cirebon because it's larger and older of the two. I chose the ticket with the access to all the areas which is 30k/person (domestic). Car parking is 10k. The entrance area needs to be cleaned, there's a lot of trash around and the ticket reader is out of service. The museum houses some artifacts, sadly it needs upkeep like painting the walls, fixing lights in exhibitions, and cleaning. The AI Lotus museum is not recommended, it's just a 15 minute AI video about the fight against the Dutch, and plays more like an action movie rather than a historic one. Going deeper, the back area is very poorly maintained. The restaurant has been abandoned for some time and the pools/lake are not maintained and used for fishing by the locals. I did not get a guide, and it seems it would have been a much better experience with one, so I highly recommend getting a guide. This place definitely has massive potential, and if it's fixed could be an instant recommendation if you're in Cirebon, and even an international level tourist destination. However as of now it's okay, not too bad not too good.
Matildabz ( — Google review
The museum zone and AI movie were really nice to see. It was cool to know about the history between the colonisers and Indonesian ***As a foreigner who doesn’t speak Bahasa, I felt a bit odd walking inside. Some people tried to talk to me and follow me (not in a friendly way) Maybe they were guides, but I wasn’t sure When I walked through the gate to get a ticket, a man (knew later, a guide) started walking with me, offering to volunteer as a guide, even though I didn’t ask for it. TBH, having a guide could be good here because there wasn't a lot information in English but I felt more like harassment
Akira K — Google review
Well, it's a palace. I bought the Rp25.000 ticket, so I got to visit not only the palace but also the museums inside as well. Not much that you can do except strolling around aimlessly. Once we entered the museum, a guy came to us explaining things and gave us no space to say no. Even though eventually we used the service (later on we realized that he is a tour guide), it felt like an ambush. The funniest thing is the AI museum, which is basically a standing theatre where they play an AI-generated movie. The movie (obviously) looked so off because the generated images were not the best.
Rizqie A — Google review
Recommended place to visit in Cirebon. Pak Siji atau Pak Satu truly one of the person who can make your trip is wonderful with great storytelling about the Keraton Cirebon.
Dianti P — Google review
Cool palace with an excellent museum. The main thing to see in Cirebon. The grounds are mildly interesting, mostly for the Majapahit-style gates and ruins dating to the 15th cent (later palace sections are unremarkable). The museum is amazing, a treasure trove of 15-16th century asian artifacts. Foreigner prices as of August 2025: site entry 20k, museum 15k, AI exhibit 15k, old palace ruins (Dalem Agung Pakungwati) 15k. There's 2 other smaller keraton in Cirebon whose grounds are free (but lack the 15-16th cent structures). Note that I got a lot of harassment/unwanted attention while touring as a white person, including a group of children constantly following me and trying to talk and touch me. Just be aware.
Josiah W — Google review
Good Place to know the history of Cirebon especially kasultanan and the link with Sunan. Better accompany with guide so you get more detail story of place.

Purwokerto Station

Train station
Nice and a memorable station. The station is quite large, the facilities are quite complete. Access is easy, because many kinds of transportation available such as taxis, motorcycles. In addition, many inns/ losmen around the station. Unfortunately, for tourists who only want to transit at this station, until now the station has not provided luggage storage services
Ullifna T — Google review
The Purwokerto station is conveniently located in the middle of the city. It is easy to reach by car and there is ample parking. The drop-off area is very well organized and there are many porters ready to assist. The station building is very well organized and it is very clean. There are automated ticket machines which can print your tickets, and also manual ticket offices if needed. You can wait in the ticket office area, or in the waiting hall, located after the validation of the tickets. Also the waiting hall is very clean, and so are the toilets. You can also wait outside, and watch the trains come and go. The announcements for your train are only made in Bahasa, but there are also monitors with all information needed. We traveled first class and it is worth noting that the trains between Jakarta and Yogjakarta aren’t turned around. So if you are in the train car next to the locomotive traveling from Jakarta to Yogjakarta, the same train car will be at the end of the train in the opposite direction. The staff at the station are very friendly and helpful.
Bull D — Google review
after I checked in, I can not find any charging point in the waiting room. Not as the other train station where I can find charging point everywhere. the waiting room itself quite tiny, not that spacious. literally on the circulation area. I wish after the expansion and renovation, it will be more better.
Mukhlishin M — Google review
They have spacious waiting area. Spacious parking area. Good service. Clean environment and clean restroom. They also have many boarding check machine. They have many convenience store, restaurant, cafe, executive lounge, ATM gallery, good customer service, good ticketing service. Overall is outstanding.
Fathan R — Google review
Almost the same with another train station in Indonesia. This station built since 18 centuries, and managed-operated by PT Kereta Api (Persero) which is one of the State-Owned Enterprise in Indonesia. There is good ambience here, and I think this is one of the most important train station in Middle Java. As a recommendation, there must be a significant change for their toilet at main hall (public). Its position is quite far from main hall and there is no proper access, especially for people with disabilities.
Udabow — Google review
The station is so big. They have AC waiting room and charger area. The toilet super clean so don't worry 😉. All of officers very kind and helpful but the minus is the place for antigen is so far though. Im tired lmao but despite of that, the services of this station is amazing. Keep it up 👍🏻
Iftinan S — Google review
Nice staff, really helpful. It was very small back then, and government renovated it. And it turns out be a nice clean large ac-friendly train station nowadays. It only took 5 hours from jakarta if you use executive train such as taksaka train. At waiting room, there is a playground area for kids even its kinda small though.
Indira A — Google review
The station is small but comfortable and clean. There are very neat arrangements inside and outside the station, the attendants are very helpful and polite. Prayer room available.

Pekalongan Batik Museum

Mentioned on

Museum
Specialty Museums
The Pekalongan Batik Museum in Central Java, Indonesia is a dedicated space showcasing the traditional art of batik. The museum houses an extensive collection of batik motifs and designs from Pekalongan and its surrounding areas, offering insights into the development of batik from the Dutch era to the influence of Japan during World War II. With over 1,200 pieces on display, visitors can explore the history, evolution, and cultural significance of batik through themed exhibitions.
nice place, good service and wonderful collection! this place is really explain batik perfectly and display authentic collection. we are also taught to make a batik here, they are very friendly and patient! thankyou :)
Shabrina L — Google review
Visited this museum during Idul Fitri holiday. Not a queue at all so once the tickets are settled, we could directly start the tour of the exhibition rooms. Room one gave information on 3 main types of batik; Rifaiyah, Jelamprang and Besurek. Room two mainly displays major patterns like sido and nitik. Room three has a more fusion pattern like a combination of kawung and a painting of koi fishes. The last room is the most exciting of all; we can have a little hands-on experience on making batik, either tulis or cap. What a fruitful visit we had! Do not worry if you get thirsty or hungry, the museum has a little shop that sells snacks and beverages.
Kamil I — Google review
Highly recommend if you like batik. Entry was only Rp20000 for a foreigner. This included a tour guide and your chance to do your own batik piece, either with a stamp or tulis (writing).
Fenji — Google review
You must have a good local tourist guide alongside with you when you look at the batik collection in this museum, laid out in three rooms and sections. Or else all the numerous motifs, deep symbolism, colours and laborious creation process would likely be lost on you. A good guide would be able to point out motifs, colours and techniques on the tip of their fingertips. Most of the wall text are in Bahasa Indonesia. The museum shop is excellent as it retails in one location ready-to-wear and textiles from numerous traditional batik studios located in Pekalongan. Allocate time to browse if you are a serious batik shopper!
Luke K — Google review
It's a nice educational museum, where we can learn about various traditional batiks in Indonesia. The ticket price is cheap. There are not many exhibition rooms, but they're placed neatly. It only needs to provide a guide to visitors from outside the town.
Annida U — Google review
It's really2 a very interesting experience, exciting and fun. If you visit Pekalongan, this place is one that must be visited. In this place, we can get to know more about the history of batik, batik motifs, to learn to make batik using "canting" and "cap". Really fun.
Asti P — Google review
My favorite Batik Museum. The visit was taken in 2020. The museum is located in the center of Pekalongan, so very easy to go there. The number of batik on exhibition is large, with brief introduction, it would be better if English version introduction could be provided.☺️ Personally I prefer Pekalongan style batik, the colorful floral pattern is an ideal symbol of the tropics, where I love most. The tour guide will explain the features of batik to visitors if visitors wish, the whole duration is free of charge. Thanks the kind tour guide lady, because I have been keen to know more about Indonesians’ batik, her assistance was of great help.☺️🙏 Visitors may choose to make a batik by stamping the wax on a piece of white cotton cloth, to experience the procedures of creating a piece of batik. It is a really wonderful experience, and hope to go to the museum again in the near future.
Stephanie Z — Google review
This batik museum is located on Jatayu street, Pekalongan city. there are many collections of batik from all over Indonesia. there exhibited materials of manufacture materials ranging from types of fabrics, types of candles, fans as well as dyes, both natural and synthetic. and there are also very complete batik tools both original and replica. inside the museum there is information about the origin of batik, the year of manufacture, and the origin of the production area. the visitors can also learn batik by being accompanied by a companion.

Sikidang Crater

Mentioned on

Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
Sikidang Crater is a must-see attraction in Dieng, Central Java. This large volcano is still active and features a crater emitting natural sulfuric gas, creating an otherworldly landscape of barren land and boiling geysers. Visitors can explore the area using a long wooden bridge that provides stunning views of the volcanic formations and steam rising from the ground. The valley's yellow-green hue from sulfur adds to its surreal beauty.
Cool spot, very busy and not great parking. The pools were cool to see and the street food was pretty decent, you have to walk through the market and we discovered a coconut desert which was 5star.
Jordy S — Google review
Last time i went here is much much fun. Now more convinience just because of the walking path. However, now its limited access to the crater. Before we can take picture around the crater where there are some aesthetic dead trees. Now,there are some people (not sure they are legal persons or not) stand on the access and only allow people who pay for photo to go in. I personally feel its ridicilous. If its restricted due to the safety reasons and why its open for commercial photo.Too bad
Diahjeng F — Google review
The beautiful crater, the pungent sulphur fog smoke, the still cold air that is refreshing. And one more beautiful photo spot, don't forget to stop by the UMKM market.
Ainun M — Google review
Please come equipped with face mask as some of the odour may not be pleasant
Fong H — Google review
Great place , strong smell, but the way out feels like tourist trap . Like u have to go through around and round about 10times then u will find the exit.. all the way they is shops selling souvenirs & foods and the route is small.. it’s really feels like trap before go out.
Meyy Y — Google review
We came here after visiting Sikunir and the surrounding areas. We bought the tickets for Arjuna Temple, and we used the same ticket, Rp 30K per person, to come here as well. It’s easy to find a place because there is a big sign. Parking lot is big as well, and there are toilets, mushola, and souvenir shops around the area. The ticket is different for local and foreigners. You can see the boiling sulfuric water in the craters. The aroma is of course very distinct, like rotten eggs. After a while you will get used to it or you can also use the mask. Some people sell the masks on the entrance point. Please pay attention to the rules and the do’s and the don’ts while visiting this area. Don’t stay too long and mind the parameters. ♿️ for accessibility features: There are ramps and platforms around the area to see the craters. Somehow, the first ramp heading to the main crater is a bit tricky and not too friendly for wheelchair users, although the next wooden platform is mostly flat.
Indah S — Google review
Very unique location. Having never visited an active crater before this was an awesome experience. Smell of sulphur can be overpowering, should have grabbed some sort of a face mask. There is a tourist attraction of buying eggs boiled in the crater (Rp5.000/egg). Definitely worth visiting.
Jack R — Google review
The crater itself is amazing and the wooden decks around the crater makes it easy to explore for visitors. My main issue is with the exit. To exit the crater area, we were directed to walk through a local market, with which I am totally fine (many tourist places around the world do the same thing). The problem though is how the roads through the market are unmaintained despite the place charging us entrance fees. Some of the walkways are just soil, some parts have paving blocks, some parts have sacks as foundations. The uneven surface also creates some water-catching potholes. Even the local sellers have to use buckets to catch rainwater falling from their own tents. Other problems include tiles on the center area that seem to not be glued onto anything as foundation. During the rain, water will seep up when you step on the tiles. Another problem is with parking attendants who just charge you random fees as they like despite you paying for an IDR30k entrance fee. The management/local dinas pariwisata/pemerintah desa/kabupaten really need to be serious and step up their game if they want to be on par with other destinations or even to just be considered by international visitors.

Selogriyo Temple (740 MASL)

Mentioned on
1 list
Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Selogriyo Temple, a stone Hindu temple dating back to the 9th century, is perched on a hill surrounded by picturesque peaks, rice paddies, and lush forest. The journey to reach this hidden gem is an adventure in itself, with wide landscapes of rice fields along the hillside that will leave you in awe of the natural beauty.
Temple itself isn’t special, nor big- just 1 small empty temple, but most impressive is the way to get there. Rice fields on the hills, stunning nature. Great place for nature lovers. Trail isn’t difficult, nor long(1,5-2km) are 2 options: paved road, or trail through rice fields. We made it in sports sandals. Of course price is 50k IDR(glad to be foreigners) but this is what we need to deal with. On the way there is coffee place- they made decent coffee.
Ula H — Google review
We went during the monsoon season in December and are the only ones there. Entrance Fee of 50k Rp for Foreigners Likely used to supplement the villagers for intrusion of their farms. Serene walk to the temple and admire the terrace Padi fields. A nice coffee place near the top and certainly recommended for a short break and to enjoy the peacefulness of the area. Temple is recently re-built and somehow characteristic of the temples in Yogya. The road to the ticketing point is only a one way lane and upslope which can be very dangerous during peak season. The village might want to consider improving this as they are collecting a large amount of entrance fee.
Chee L — Google review
The main reason why people go to Selogriyo temple is for the picturesque views of the rice terraces on the way. There is an easy cemented path from the parking area to the temple itself. I would not recommend descending down to the terraces itself unless you are of moderate fitness, and especially not during the rainy season. We did; and the terrain was extremely steep, slippery and challenging. Walking along the narrow steppes can be dangerous and we did slip and fall into the rice paddies a few times (fortunately, we did not fall into the rocky stream as that could be catastrophic). Our guide did get lost on the way (we do not fault him, as the terraces are large and can be confusing). Not too sure if the well-trodden path we were supposed to walk along would be better. Nonetheless, the walk along the cemented trail was easy and beautiful. Docking 1 star because of how far the temple is from Yogyakarta city.

This was a nice quiet walk through terraced fields towards a secluded temple in the hills. Worth the drive here and highly recommended!

Beautiful scenery, friendly people.. good place to explore in Magelang
Yongky S — Google review
Surely worth a visit to another Buddhist temple. This one stands al alone on a beautiful spot and the walk through the rice fields is marvelling. This is not a very touristy spot, surely not in November. But a precious chance to spot daily life and work on the rice fields. Highly recommend!
Wendy V — Google review
The road to up is winding and narrow and you have to continue walking from the end road up about 1.5 km. The view however is breathtaking. The temple itself was being reconstructed. Even than the view for me is far more important to see, not to mention friendly natives I met along the walk. I was struggling for the bathroom and one neighbor let me in just like that. Parking is very limited, if possible go with a local driver so you don’t have to worry about parking.
Irtati W — Google review
I was amazed by the stunning sceneries along the way to this temple. So green and yet so tranquil. The road for motorbike and pedestrians are well made and maintained. I could not describe more how beautiful this area. And this tiny temple is worth it . On top of the hill ,just if we are lucky enough to enjoy when the sky is clear. Mount Sumbing is the view that we can not miss at all. Parking lot for motorbike is upstair just near to the stairs to the temple but for the car you need to park a little bit far and then you can either walk or take rental bike that costs 25.000 IDR for one way or 40.000 for returns. Toilet is available near by the second gate just before the temple. And it is clean enough. Perfect timing to visit is during dry season ( April to October) or morning when it is not cloudy. I am sure I will be back here to take more pictures.

Sights & Landmarks
Punthuk Setumbu is a popular spot in Central Java known for its breathtaking sunrise views of the Borobudur Temple and the surrounding mountains. It involves a steep hike at dawn, offering sweeping panoramic vistas. The area is also home to other famous destinations like Semarang Old Town, Batu Raden, and Candi Mendut Temple, making it an ideal location for travelers seeking diverse experiences.
Catch the breathtaking sunrise from this spot, where you’ll be treated to a stunning view of the legendary Borobudur Temple and the majestic Mount Merapi. It's a popular destination, especially during holidays and weekends, so expect a lively crowd. The hike to the top, though paved, presents a challenge for amateur hikers—requiring a good level of fitness. But don’t worry, the panoramic views that await at the summit make every step of the climb worth the effort!

I went in May 2025.. the night before was raining… I was blessed with good sunrise and misty with sea of clouds.. the view was so beautiful ..we have been walking up to Setumbu hill from car park to the top about 15mins. There is stone staircases and lights along the way we trekked..
Tracy T — Google review
We never get to see the sea of clouds when we went here but still grateful for a nice weather and sunset. Climbing the stairs uptop is not so fun.
Joneaj B — Google review
A beautiful place to watch the sunrise from the top of Borobudur Temple. The best time to visit is around 4:30 AM. Make sure you're physically fit, as you'll need to walk. The entrance fee is affordable.
Krisna M — Google review
Located just 30 minutes from Yogyakarta, Punthuk Setumbu offers a stunning sunrise view in the morning. The path to the top is elderly-friendly and very safe—I went when it was slightly raining, and it was still manageable. However, you’ll need to plan ahead and check the weather forecast, as some days can be too cloudy for a clear sunrise. Overall, it’s a beautiful experience and definitely worth the wait!
Fauzan R — Google review
It is about a 10 minute hike on paved path + stairs to the top. Parking is 10k, entrance is 20k for locals and 50k for foreigners. A lot of people up here so forget about serene experience on a weekend. There’s a cafe at the top that serve coffee and tea. There are several benches, chairs, and raised garden bed edges that you can sit on. Since the sun rises from behind the mountains, it will be visible about 15 minutes later than usual. The old walking path that leads straight to gereja ayam has been overgrown, but there is a local bike path that you can use if you want to walk there. 29/06/25

The main stupa is constructed in three tiers around a natural hill, featuring a pyramidal base with five square terraces, a cone-shaped trunk with circular platforms, and a monumental stupa at the top.
A really awesome experience. The infrastructure around the temple is pretty top notch, roomy clean, modern. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The temple itself is simply awesome. A bit like Angkor Wat, but obviously not the same. As of September 2025 you can climb the structure all the way to the top. Not too crowded, but there are lots of tourists, obviously.

Borobudur Temple is absolutely breathtaking — truly one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve visited in Indonesia. The scale, detail, and history behind this temple are just incredible. Walking up through the different terraces as the sun rises, surrounded by mist and the sound of birds, is something that feels almost spiritual. Every level reveals new carvings and stories, and the view from the top is unforgettable. That said, the guided tour could have been better. Our guide was kind and enthusiastic, but unfortunately very difficult to follow — his explanations were rushed and not very clear, so most of the group ended up wandering off and exploring on our own. It’s a shame, because with a bit more structure and clear storytelling, the tour could have really brought the temple’s history to life. Even so, Borobudur is a must-visit. Whether or not you get a great guide, the atmosphere and beauty of the site more than make up for it. If you visit, I’d recommend either reading a bit about the temple’s background beforehand or using an audio guide, so you can better appreciate what you’re seeing. A truly remarkable place — just wish the guided experience matched the magic of the monument itself. 🌅

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5 — An Unforgettable Experience at Borobudur Temple Borobudur Temple is truly a masterpiece of history, culture, and spirituality. Visiting this ancient wonder feels like stepping into another world. The intricate stone carvings, the peaceful atmosphere, and the sheer scale of the monument are breathtaking. Watching the sunrise from the top is an experience I’ll never forget—the sky slowly lighting up the surrounding mountains and villages creates a magical moment of calm and beauty. The temple grounds are well-maintained, and the guides are knowledgeable, helping bring the stories behind each panel to life. Whether you love history, architecture, photography, or simply want a peaceful place to reflect, Borobudur is absolutely worth the trip. It’s one of those rare places that leaves a lasting impression on your heart. Highly recommended!

This is a must see. Purchase your tickets online closing the convenient time.slot as well as the option of going to the top. You will be assigned for a tour guide inside the temple and he will explain all the story about it giving as well some details from what u see. It is really worth visiting knowing All the history and to see all nice views and also for nice photos. Electric cars are punctual and on on time to get you from entrance to the temple entrance. There is as well a big souvenirs shops market at that area. Highly recommended but during the day it can be very hot and sunny so bring an umbrella and/or hat and sunscreen. And prepare yourself to be given a slipper and put your shoes in a bag (they take care of everything at entrance and it is included in the climbing ticket).
Assala J — Google review
Good to be back to history — such an iconic place that always feels timeless. The area is well-organized and clean. To reach the temple, you can choose between taking a paid buggy ride or the free electric shuttle — both eco-friendly options, which is great. The only downside is the way out — it feels a bit like a maze since you have to walk through a long souvenir market before exiting. Still, it’s worth the visit for the beauty and serenity of Borobudur itself. ✨

Highly recommend to visit here. Everything is included with 455k entrance fee. Water, slippers to Protect the temple and a guide is included. They schedule by group per hour. Organized and helpful guides. You can also asked the guards for pictures they know how to take it.

Borobudur Temple is truly an amazing destination. I really enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere and the beautiful scenery here. The facilities are also very modern and well-managed. However, I found a navigation issue. The area is so vast that we had a hard time finding our way, and the signposts from the parking lot were not very clear. My suggestion is that it would be very helpful if the management could provide map brochures in the parking area or at the ticket counter. That way, visitors can explore more easily without getting lost. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience!

Borobudur Temple was on my bucket list. And I made to visit it. Some pros: - absolutely amazing art and experience (of course not comparable to Angkor Wat- lets say nothing can beat AW) - tickets for 15:30 actually are for sunset, and this is best time to enjoy the sun extracting colors from the temple. - we bought tickets for Temple Structure, which allows to climb to the top, and include buggy ride. Are 40k IDR more expensive - ticket includes shoes (kind of bamboo flip flops), and bottle of water CONS: - overpriced! 455k IDR (25$) because you’re foreigner (75k IDR for local) - a lot of hustle and bustle around for taxi, souvenirs etc - guide was enough - EXIT is a NIGHTMARE, as you need to get thorough maze of really pushy sellers, which makes me panic to get out of there! Outside- another group pushing for taxi, some souvenirs. Please respect our „NO thank you” boundaries, as we- foreigners- are respecting your prices, places and culture. Whatever good impressions I had, they got lost with going through exit. TIPS: 1. Only Structure Tickets, buy online in advance 2. Preferably entrance at 15:30 3. Take extra water with you 4. Keep calm and move on through maze of shops to get to the desired exit.

We had wonderful fog..cold air and pouring a lot. Can't see the panorama well enough. But we enjoyed it! The Ketep hot choco is delicioso Dec 30 2024♥️

We couldn't quite see the peaks of Merapi or Merbabu because of cloud, but still enjoyed some great views. The land use on the slopes is really interesting - of course farming due to fertile soils, but I was surprised by how many settlements there are and how high up they are. The restaurant served basic but nice food. The volcano movie is really old and needs a refresh.
Becky G — Google review
If you happen to have half a day free in Yogya, take a car to drive around Merapi to enjoy landscape, villages and busy farmers providing fruit and food for the metropolis. Ketep Pass is a marvellous viewpoint on the volcanos and the terrasses. And if Merapi hides in the clouds, there is still a volcano museum about volcanism in Indonesia and Merapi itself. It deserves to be updated, as the 2010 eruption is not covered anymore and only few objects have an English explanation. But it is still worth visiting; there are hardly any foreigners and the cinema will be opened for you only. The film has English subtitles and is worth watching. Enjoy!

Nice place for relaxe... Beautifull nature and mountain. 4 mountain we can see from this place. Specially for Merbabu and Merapi

So crowded when we came at saturday, tough to find the parking area. But not so many attraction in this place, just a cool view the 2 fabolous mountain Merapi and Merbabu. 12,5 K IDR per person and pay more 9K IDR the get the 2nd level of the place to get higher view to the see the surrounding.

I was told the ticket is 50k which includes everything when there are other options they dont allow me to purchase. What a scam
Rui L — Google review
Our trip here was super impromptu but that's alright. They have a lot of posters and displays related to Mount Merapi but to be honest, they feel a bit outdated. They have a café corner that only sells cup noodles and some packaged drinks. And then on top there's also a restaurant with plenty of seats but when we got there at about 9 or 10 AM, not many menus were ready. Not many things to do to be honest but the view is great! You can eat at a Warmindo on the parking lot instead 😅
Khairena D — Google review
First time visiting and first impression was so so only. They charge foreigners Rp50k per person and you get one free soft drink. There is a volcano museum but looks pretty run down. Was told can view volcano documentary in the in-house theatre bit it was closed when I visited. What a let down. So the only saving grace was the observation platform at the hill top overlooking the villages. Too bad it was cloudy and misty so did not get to see much of the mountain view.

I never knew that there's a floating resto on the lake. My first time trying stir-fried lotus and quite suprise because its so freaking good! But the fish... Hmm too sweet and how to say it, they don't "de-vein" the fish. However, you may enjoyed the atmosphere and i think you allowed to fish there

In Central Java, there are several artificial and natural lakes. One of the natural lakes in Central Java is Rawa Pening. Rawa Pening is located in the Ambarawa district. We can enjoy the beauty of the lake by riding a boat that will take us to the middle of the lake. Before reaching the middle of the lake, we will find a lot of water hyacinths that grow. Then, in the middle of the lake, there are fish ponds that make many white cranes fly over or perch on cages. Besides, on the edge of the lake, there are also parks, restaurants, and a game arena for children. This place is perfect for relaxing with family and friends, because it is in a pretty high contour area, in the foot of the mountain, don't forget to bring a jacket when visiting the lake! :)

Taman Sari, also known as the Taman Sari Water Castle, is a historical site located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the 18th century by Sultan Hamengkubuwono, it served as a royal garden and retreat for the Sultan of Yogyakarta. The complex features ornate bathing pools, pavilions, and waterways designed for relaxation and meditation.
We visited this palace which has pools and water features. There are many photo worthy spots here although the steps going from one section to another are pretty steep. We enjoyed our visit here.

I visited Taman Sari Tourist Village and found it really interesting to walk around. The old bathing pools and underground passages give you a glimpse of the history and culture of Yogyakarta. The surrounding village is also fun to explore with small shops and local people selling crafts. It is not a huge site but it is unique and worth a visit if you are already near the palace.
Lydia C — Google review
We visited Taman Sari Royal Garden because we were looking for a place that was open that day — it was my second to the last day in Yogyakarta, and unfortunately, the palace itself was closed. I’m glad we ended up here though, because it turned out to be a really unique and memorable experience. It wasn’t too crowded when we went — there were a mix of locals and foreigners, and the atmosphere felt calm and pleasant. The sun was very hot outside, but once you go inside the chambers and passageways of the garden, it becomes surprisingly cool. Each section feels like a hidden corner full of history and charm. What stood out to me most were the many small pathways and exits all around the garden. There seems to be only one main entrance, but several exits lead into nearby residential areas or small alleys that connect to local streets. It really gives you a sense of how this place once functioned as a living, breathing royal space — private, mysterious, and full of life. Even though the structures are old, you can still imagine how stunning it must have been at its peak — with the pools, gardens, and chambers in their full glory. It’s one of those places that lets you step back in time and feel part of Yogyakarta’s royal history. A truly cool and fascinating place to explore — peaceful, historical, and worth the visit.
Joneaj B — Google review
I have no regrets about visiting this historical site, even with the crazy heat in Jogja that day. It definitely still needs ongoing maintenance and preservation. Taman Sari was the Sultan's / King’s former water castle/bathhouse, I can only imagine how grand and cool this place was back then. Entrance is 25K.
Miranti V — Google review
Taman Sari (often called the Water Castle) is one of Yogyakarta's most popular and historically fascinating tourist destinations. Taman Sari Water Castle: Taman Sari, which means "fragrant garden," is a beautiful and unique former royal garden and leisure complex of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, built in the 18th century. It is known for unique architecture, photo opportunities, and historical atmosphere. The Vibe & Highlights Architectural Beauty:The complex is a striking blend of Javanese, Islamic, and European architectural styles. The most stunning and well-preserved section is the central bathing complex. The Royal Pools (Umbul Binangun): This is the main attraction. It features three dazzling blue pools—one for the Princesses, one for the Queens, and a secluded one for the Sultan. A watchtower sits between the pools, from which the Sultan reportedly chose a consort as they bathed below. The Underground Mosque (Sumur Gumuling): This unique, circular two-story mosque is hidden underground and accessed via an Escher-esque set of stairways. Its design creates unique acoustics that allow the imam's voice to be heard clearly without a microphone. This is a favorite spot for photos. The Kampung Taman Village: The complex is nested within a charming, traditional Javanese residential neighborhood (Kampung Taman). Exploring the narrow alleyways offers a glimpse into local life, including small shops selling traditional arts like batik. Location :Located just a short distance (approx. 2 km) south of the Kraton (Sultan's Palace). Opening Hours :Generally open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. Entrance Fee (Foreigners) Approximately IDR 25,000 (Indonesian Rupiah). Estimated Visit: Time 30 minutes to 1 hour, plus time to explore the surrounding village. Getting There: Easily reached via becak (pedicab), andong (horse cart), or ride-hailing services (e.g., Grab). Best Tips for Your Visit 1. Hire a Guide (with caution): Local guides are available and highly recommended, as they can provide fascinating historical context and mystical stories that bring the ruins to life. However, a common traveler tip is to be aware that some guides may be insistent about taking you to a family batik or craft shop afterward. 2. Explore the Tunnels:Don't just stay in the main pool area. Ask locals or your guide to point you toward the entrance to the underground tunnels and the Gumuling Well. 3. Dress Modestly:As a cultural and former royal site, dressing respectfully (avoiding overly short or revealing clothes) is appreciated. 4. Combine with the Kraton:Taman Sari makes a perfect half-day excursion when combined with a visit to the nearby Kraton (Sultan's Palace).

Historical place where it was bath place for kings back in the time. It wows you with the architecture and the beauty of the place. It is quite a big complex where you will walk a lot and tons of place to take beautiful pictures. There will be guides once you enter who will offer their service, totally up to you to take it. Some alleys are in the neighbourhood area which means you will walk around people’s house.
Nurul H — Google review
Taman Sari has an interesting old royal structure and some really nice photo spots, but it’s definitely overhyped and heavily crowded. Good for a quick look, not ideal if you want a calm historical experience.
Lazizbek E — Google review
Taman Sari, nestled in a charming neighborhood, offers a fascinating look into Yogyakarta's royal past. This "Water Castle" complex, though undeniably small-scale and showing minimal recent maintenance, possesses a unique appeal. The entrance fee is low, making it an accessible historical site. A delightful aspect is the freedom to climb atop some of the remaining gate structures, providing interesting views. Guides are present, but be prepared: ours, while informative and willing to take photos, was quite insistent on leading us to his shop afterward. We ultimately "escaped" through the gates, which made for a memorable, if slightly comical, end to our visit! Despite its modest size and condition, Taman Sari's unique charm and the freedom to explore make it a worthwhile stop for those seeking a less polished, more adventurous historical experience.

We visited this bustling street in the evening and it was pretty crowded. There are many shops selling batik, apparel, food and souvenirs. There were many horse carriages for rent as well as trishaws. We found that there were more food options at the mall. The road is closed to motorised vehicles in the evening and open to pedestrians only. A must visit place in Yogyakarta especially in the evening.

They had a piece of canvas with some old-looking art and kept explaining ‘how it’s done.’ Then they offered free coffee and tea, repeating ‘hospitality, hospitality!’ We left straight away, don’t want to know what happens next. Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, also known as the Yogyakarta Palace, is a magnificent royal complex in the heart of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the 18th century and still used by Indonesian royalty, it offers a fascinating insight into Javanese culture and heritage. The palace features traditional Javanese architecture with intricate carvings and expansive courtyards.
I visited Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat and it was a really good experience 👑. The place is full of history and culture, and you can really feel the atmosphere of the old royal palace. The ticket can be bought directly at the entrance. If you want to get a deeper understanding, it’s highly recommended to take a local guide. They explain the stories and history very well, and also give you time to explore and take pictures. The fee for the guide is up to you, usually around 50k to 100k, and it’s definitely worth it for a richer experience. There’s also a traditional performance held every day in the morning from 9 AM to 11 AM, which adds a special cultural touch to the visit. Overall, it’s a must-visit place if you’re in Yogyakarta, especially if you want to learn more about Javanese royal heritage and traditions.

Just because i look like an Indonesian, does not mean I am one, and it does not mean I understand the Indonesian language. Please treat your visitors better. Overall this place could be better, there wasn't much guidance and descriptions. I guess if you want to fully understand the whole history and concept, you should hire a tour guide.
Aina A — Google review
I recently visited the Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat—a place steeped in history and emblematic of Javanese royal heritage. The architecture is impressive and quintessentially traditional: ornate wooden carvings, elegant pavilions, and the serene inner courtyard exude a dignified charm. Yet, I found the experience slightly underwhelming in terms of activities. Before arriving, I had read about various cultural exhibitions and performances taking place here. However, when I visited, none were happening—I couldn’t find any visible signs or information about upcoming events or live demonstrations. This palace is undeniably a must‑see for anyone curious about Yogyakarta’s cultural roots. From a visual standpoint, it’s beautifully preserved—reflecting the grandeur and spiritual atmosphere of the royal court. But for those seeking immersive or interactive experiences, it may feel static and purely observational. The visit was more about appreciating the architecture and ambiance rather than engaging with the living culture that once pulsated within these walls. In summary, the Kraton is a significant cultural and historical landmark—clean, well‑maintained, and visually striking—but somewhat lacking in stimulation or spectacle. I would recommend it as a necessary stop for cultural context and photography, but don’t go expecting performances or dynamic exhibits unless you verify beforehand. It’s a quiet, reflective experience—not a theatrical one.
Yashar S — Google review
Visiting historical places is always fun, and during school holidays, exploring temple sites is a must! One top destination is the Yogyakarta Palace (Keraton), filled with cultural treasures and ornaments that tell stories of our ancestors and the long history of Javanese art and tradition. The way Javanese heritage is presented here is super engaging—it really grabs kids’ attention and helps them connect with their cultural roots. Such a fun and meaningful holiday! To enter the Keraton, you buy a ticket, and there are guides available in various languages to take you around and explain everything. It’s a great mix of vacation and learning about Indonesia’s unique culture and history. 🅿️ quite limited 🚾 Several spots around Keraton
Sparkly F — Google review
As some others have said, it's a lackluster experience where you just wander around the courtyards, observing the architecture from afar and seeing some random objects scattered about. No performances or exhibits while I was there, nor were any advertised even if they did have them hidden somewhere. Many schools come here on educational trips, and they clearly take staff priority over tourists. Also, if you use Google Maps and you are coming from the water palace of the southern area, it will likely try to send you walking in from the back exit. Be prepared to get told off by staff, saying you need to "go around" to the entrance while being oblivious of any wrongdoing.
Ilse E — Google review
I will say “this is the only active palace in Indonesia which still upholds their true culture and identity”. Ticket price is decent, well managed and maintained, high standard without losing its uniqueness. The guards are amazing, they really doing their job while adjusting to tourist activity (not the other way around), this is rare in this era.

The Ullen Sentalu Museum, located in Sleman, Yogyakarta, is a privately-owned museum established by the Haryono family in 1994. Managed by the Ulating Blencong Foundation, the museum houses various relics and artifacts from royal Javanese houses that reveal the history of Mataram Kingdom and reflect Hindu-Buddhist culture.
My first time being here and my very first experience with this kind of private tour, i would say i loved it! Especially ms.nuri as our tour guide, so humble and patient with us! Yet informative. Thumbs up for her. And talking about the museum itself, i really enjoyed the ambience, the atmosphere, everything! I felt calm and happy with the cookies 😁.. i would love to return for another tour, didn’t disappoint me at all. All the staffs were kind and informative.. maybe my feedback just give a little music or something to the small cafe for vorstenlanden tour it was really quiet down there..

It's so fun visiting this museum. There are 3 options if you want to visit and enter the museum. Each option gives you a different historical explanation and also a different admission ticket starting 50k-100k/person. NB: the guide will explain the history and no taking photos inside allowed. You can take photos once you finish the tour.

It was such an amazing experience! Ullen Sentalu is a 1.2ha private museum in the north part of Jogja. They divide the museum into 3 parts based on the tour theme (details of each theme can be seen on their website). I tried 2 out of 3 tours and they were all amazing. The guides were very informative and funny, and the collections were nicely handled and curated. If you have plenty of time, you should try all the tours, but if you do not, I recommend you try the Vorstenlanden tour. This tour has the biggest area, is more focused on keraton history, and you can get tea and cookies at the end of the tour to feel an Indische vibe. The museum itself was magical; I liked the garden so much. Unfortunately, documentation inside the tour area is prohibited due to copyright. They have a restaurant and a gallery in the exit area if you are hungry after the tour or want to buy some batik or accessories.

Strictly no photos, videos or voice recording allowed, only in designated spots for pictures. Took the Vorstenlanden tour, 1 hour, ended with a cute little tea time, highly recommended. English guided tour available.

We did about one hour drive from the city to reach this place, which is located at the foot of Mount Merapi. The museum has 3 zones of tour to choose and I chose the Adiluhung Mataram Tour, which explains about the history of Javanese royalties. But the #1 rule of the museum is: you cannot take photos or videos along the tour. So we just took them outside. With all the greeneries around, you can still take beautiful pictures :)
Kalista S — Google review
I had a great time at the museum, especially during the Vorstenlanden Tour. However, I do have one complaint: a group of more than 12 people who were not part of our tour suddenly joined in, and the guide didn’t say anything about it. This made us uncomfortable, as these individuals didn’t pay the IDR 100,000 fee like we did. The tour and the museum itself were excellent, but allowing people to join without any control or restriction feels unfair to those who actually paid.

PrAmbAnAn,
Best time to go is after noon and watch the sun cast soft shadows on the relief during sundown. It is less crowded than Borobudur because the temple structures are spread out with lots of open spaces in between. There are also many smaller but magnificent Buddhist structures on the temple grounds worth visiting. I had the pleasure of sitting on ancient stones, with the soft sun behind me on the western side of the main Prambanan temple and just soaking up this historical monument. It took me 33 years from first learning about it in university to actually setting foot here to see it. I am very impressed by all the work they are putting in to conserve and preserve this beautiful UNESCO heritage site. Even though a foreigner entrance ticket costs 8x more than a domestic ticket, it is worth every rupiah! Some domestic visitors were not too careful about the stone relief though. I saw one man use his umbrella to point and hit on the stone relief. 😞 Hope better education and supervision can be given on site by heritage staff.

Prambanan Temple is absolutely stunning and a must-visit when in Yogyakarta! The temple complex is vast and beautifully preserved, with incredible stone carvings and towering structures that tell ancient stories from Hindu mythology. Walking around the site feels like stepping back in time. The architecture is breathtaking, especially when you catch it at sunrise or sunset — the lighting makes the temple even more majestic. The area is well-maintained, and there are helpful signs explaining the history. It can get quite hot during the day, so I recommend visiting early in the morning or late afternoon. Definitely worth the visit — both for history lovers and anyone who appreciates incredible cultural landmarks!

Prambanan Temple is a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most beautiful temples in Indonesia. The architecture is stunning, the gardens are well maintained, and the atmosphere is peaceful. Walking around the temple complex gives a deep sense of history and culture. A must-visit destination in Yogyakarta for anyone who loves history, culture, and photography

Prambanan Temple is one of those rare places that leaves you speechless the moment you step inside. As Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex, it stands proudly with its towering stone spires and intricate carvings — a breathtaking masterpiece of 9th-century architecture. The main temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma rise dramatically against the sky, creating a silhouette that feels both powerful and serene. Walking through the complex feels like stepping into ancient history. Every relief, every stone has a story — from the Ramayana carvings to the smaller temples scattered around the grounds. What makes the experience even more magical is the wide-open layout; you can wander freely, take photos from many angles, and really soak in the atmosphere without feeling rushed. One of the best times to visit is late afternoon, when the sun casts a warm golden light on the temples. At sunset, the entire complex glows beautifully, making it a dream for photographers and anyone who loves dramatic scenery. And if you have the chance, the Ramayana Ballet performed near the temple is an unforgettable cultural experience — a blend of dance, music, and lighting with the temple as the backdrop. The area is well-maintained, clean, and spacious. Facilities like rest areas, information signs, and walkways make the visit comfortable, even in larger crowds. Local guides are available too, and they can bring the temple’s stories to life with impressive detail. Overall, Prambanan is a must-visit — a place where history, architecture, and spirituality meet in the most beautiful way. Whether you're a culture lover, photographer, or casual traveler, this UNESCO World Heritage Site will easily become one of the highlights of your journey in Indonesia.

Visiting Prambanan Temple is like stepping back in time to witness the grandeur of Indonesia’s rich Hindu and Buddhist heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is not only an architectural marvel but also one of the most accessible and tourist-friendly attractions in Central Java. Accessibility & Tour Guides: The temple complex is conveniently located about 17 km from Yogyakarta city center, and it’s easily reachable by car, motorbike, or public transport. If you're coming from the airport, it's just a short ride. Upon arrival, you’ll find the entrance very organized with ticket counters for domestic and international visitors. What really enhances the experience is the availability of licensed tour guides. They are friendly, multilingual (English, Bahasa Indonesia, and sometimes other languages), and extremely knowledgeable. Guided tours are highly recommended to understand the deep symbolism, mythology, and history behind the temple reliefs and structures. Parking Lots & Entry Process: The parking area is spacious and well-managed, accommodating both private cars and tour buses. There’s a separate area for motorbikes, and everything is within walking distance to the entrance gate. The entry process is smooth, and staff are helpful, maintaining a good flow even during busy hours. Facilities: The facilities are excellent for a historical site of this scale. There are clean restrooms, shaded seating areas, and refreshment stalls near the entrance and inside the complex. You’ll also find a souvenir market selling everything from traditional batik to wooden crafts and mini Prambanan replicas — perfect for gifts. There's even a small museum near the complex that provides more background about the site's excavation and restoration efforts. The Temple Grounds: The temple complex itself is vast and immaculately maintained. The main temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma stand proudly in the center, surrounded by smaller shrines and ruins that speak volumes about ancient Javanese Hindu civilization. Visitors are allowed to walk into several of the temples, and the carvings are remarkably well-preserved. Be sure to wear comfortable footwear and bring a hat or umbrella as it can get quite hot during midday. Bonus Tip: Come early in the morning or around sunset to avoid the crowds and get the best lighting for photos. For a truly magical experience, consider watching the Ramayana Ballet at the nearby open-air theatre in the evening — with the temples as a backdrop, it's an unforgettable performance. Conclusion: Prambanan Temple is not just a tourist site — it’s a spiritual, educational, and visual journey that impresses every visitor. Whether you’re a history buff, a photographer, or just someone looking to appreciate world heritage, Prambanan delivers on all fronts. A must-visit when in Yogyakarta!

I truly enjoyed my visit to Prambanan. The temples are breathtaking, and it’s clear that a great deal of effort goes into preserving the site and maintaining it for visitors. Walking among such extraordinary history was a remarkable experience. However, the end of my visit was completely overshadowed by the sight of animals kept in cages in extremely poor conditions. It was shocking, deeply upsetting, and frankly shameful to see something like this in a place of such cultural and spiritual significance. No historical landmark, especially one as important as Prambanan, should tolerate or endorse the mistreatment of living beings. This left a very bitter impression and turned an otherwise wonderful visit into a moment of anger and sadness. I sincerely hope the authorities take immediate action to remove these animals or ensure they are treated with proper care and dignity. It is unacceptable, and it tarnishes the reputation of an extraordinary site.

I was so delighted to visit Prambanan Temple and feel like I was traveling back in time. The temple complex is stunning, and it’s a great place to learn about history. Exploring the ancient architecture and hearing the stories behind it made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommended for anyone who loves culture and heritage.

Beautiful heritage temple from 800sm already almost from 1200 years ago, I just found out when in find was actually as ruin, and the Dutch continued by Indonesian government need to restored it. Not only the Prambanan temple, they have eating place, kids activity, souvenir shop (very cheap) and museum, good place to spend time with family plus educational value.

Baron Beach is a picturesque bay with black sand and towering karst cliffs in Gunung Kidul. It's known for its unique feature of sea water meeting fresh water, allowing visitors to swim in both. The beach gets crowded during school holidays, offering a fun experience for families with activities like playing in the sand and water. The area also boasts fresh seafood culinary delights, including the famous fish soup and lobster. Additionally, there's a scenic pathway through mountains that provides stunning views of the surroundings.
A beach that has spacious parking lots. last time i came here was more than 15 years ago and a bit surprised to see the beach these days. I think its not a typical beach that suitable for swimming cz there are too many fishing boats here and there. But its a good one for those who like to hunt seafoods and local souvenirs.

Here you can find a variety of seafood dishes and the unique craft of shellfish and marine animals. The cool air makes travelers feel at home to stay here.

A wonderful beach for family, with its brownish sand. It's a calm bay with a high cape with a lighthouse tower on its East flank, and an underground river on its West flank is recommended as a safe playground for children. There are fishermen and their colourful boats on the beach, and when lucky visitors can also buy freshly caught fishes from them at low prices. Food stalls and shops selling seafoods and souvenirs. Many toilets available for little money. No recommended lodging.
Raden S — Google review
The beach is surrounded by mountains and greenery, but the beach it self is narrow and sometime strong waves. Parking lot is quite spacy. We need to pay for the parking fee per vehicle.
Titan 1 — Google review
Sunday was really crowded. Not as big as parang tritis. But it's more shady n more friendly for little kids. To go to the beach, u need to rent a boat. Becareful when choosing seafood there, not all are fresh.

Nice beach though you have to pay rp 10.000 to cross small river to reach the beach
Tuti B — Google review
A good place for seeing at how the fisherman get and sell their catching. There's also some stalls nearby the coast if you need some food or beverage. The view is okay, but not a strong recommendation for tour destination because as a personal opinion it has less attractive compared to other beaches.

Kampoeng Batik Laweyan is a historic area known for its shops producing batik, which are classically colored textiles with unique designs. In addition to exploring the food scene, visitors can also check out Pasar Antik Triwindu for antique items and Omah Sinten Heritage & Resto for a royal family treatment dinner.
One thing about traveling is experience the exotic culture of the places. I'm glad my indonesia best friend took me to the Batik house where I can get to see how each and every piece of Batik is done. Batik is a method (originally used in Java) of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed.. Here's a thing, to add different color a certain pattern need to be blocked by using bee wax. Basically the process is quite long and requires tentative patience. And of course the result turns out pretty well and the costs also high as well. And the tiny thing I hold is the baby Batik, I guess. And also, I got to taste the Sasarparilla drink, my mum and I favourite drink of all time. The drink is produced in yogyakarta Turns out it's a traditional drink in Java, usually used by royal family.

Visited this place by car and there is a little confusion since there are many unofficial guides tried to lure us to visit a certain batik store. Parking is limited. The batik price and collections is okay.
Tri A — Google review
Interesting area housing many batik shops/workshops. Batik ranges from cheap traditional print method up to hand drawn premium batik. Some batik pattern is very old and not often produced nowadays. Park your car and explore on foot. Many local cum guide will offer to bring you around for a small fee/tip. They come useful in navigating small alley way. Those looking for super premium batik should try Goh Tik Swan or Danar. Parking space is very limited.

Really a good museum. I learn so many things, from cultural, history, also looking at the collections. Thank you Batik Danar Hadi! Ticket is 45k for adults. The tour last for around 40’ and end with watching some women making batik. Cannot take pic, only at the workshop and last room.

One of the best museum trip I ever had. Very nice and clean place. Very neat arrangements although some exhibit lacked written information. But the tour guide was really patient and meticulously explain each and every details of the 11 sections of the batik museum. He really knows and understands and can explain very well almost each batik piece. No photos allowed by their house rules for company discreet reasons. But 2 hours trip around the whole museum with that ticket price (IDR 45.000,- per person already includes tour guide service) was really worth it. Kudos once again to Danar Hadi Solo team.

If you really want to know how and what batik is about, then please visit this museum. In a guided tour of an hour you get to see the finest batik in the world. You get to see the finest and the most exclusive and rarest pieces. All presented in 11 rooms, very nicely and appropriately presented. The guide was very knowledgeable and did not push you to buy anything. You also get to see how the wax is applied to the fabric in real time by highly experienced women. And this is only a small, yet important part of the whole, long process. The shop is next door and also worth a visit. This your chance to be sure of what you are buying is real. Often the batik is stamped, but just as often, it is a mix of stamping and hand-applied waxing (which really drives up the price). But the price range has something for everyone. Go enjoy. You don't have to buy anything if you don't want to.

One of the must-visit places while you’re in Surakarta! I’m Indonesian, born and raised. Do I know Batik? Of course! Do I know its history and how it’s made? Not a clue (I do have a clue but not that much, lol) Well, this place offers exactly that knowledge, along with lots and lots of beautiful private collections that are decades old. In the museum, you’ll be guided by a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. I was traveling alone and happened to be the only visitor at the time, and I was lucky to be guided by Mba Mutiara, she felt more like a friend. She answered every question and even responded to my endless fascination with more fun facts, which made my experience even more enjoyable and unforgettable. Terima kasih Mba Mutia ^^ I highly recommend visiting the House of Danar Hadi if you want to learn more about one of Indonesia’s greatest heritages that is Batik. I really enjoyed my visit, and I hope you will too ^^

Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat, established in 1744, stands as a magnificent testament to Javanese history and culture. Once the heart of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom, this royal palace offers visitors an immersive journey through time. The complex features various sections like Alun Alun Lor and Sasana Sumewa, where you can explore museums filled with captivating artifacts such as sculptures and traditional costumes.
One of the relics of the ancient kingdom in Surakarta. Still well maintained. The addition of guards or courtiers in full dress makes it more instagramable. Unfortunately I couldn't see inside, so I don't know what the actual condition of the palace is.

I am sorry Solo but this is the worst ever. I had high expectations visiting the place but you let me down. Admission cost of IDR 35k is too high with what I have been experiencing; I felt being robbed. Guide was provided however you need to join with the others; I thought the guide was for myself only. The museum section is so old and feels like it is not being well maintained. The other area for explore is kind of garden surrounded by the “pendopo”. That’s it. No more exploration area. I prefer Jogja than Solo; visiting Keraton wise.
Richard T — Google review
Solo Keraton is still in an active palace in Solo, the King and Queen still live in this place, but tourist can go only visit some parts of the palace which is the backyard. If you are willing to visit, better bring fan, umbrella, sunscreen and use shoes. Don’t use sandal, because they will ask you to take off and walk barefoot inside the keraton.
Novita W — Google review
The official Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace residence of the Kasunanan Surakarta located in the heart of Solo City, blends traditional Javanese architecture with subtle European touches. Inside, a museum displays royal heirlooms, golden chariots, traditional attire, and historical collections from past kings. Stepping into the palace grounds, you are immediately greeted by a serene and sacred atmosphere. Friendly guides share stories from each room, making the visit more meaningful. The collection is impressive, although certain parts of the building could use more maintenance. Visitors are expected to dress modestly and follow the rules, such as refraining from entering restricted areas or taking photos in prohibited spots. The soft sound of gamelan music and the lingering scent of aged wood in every corner add to the magical charm. Despite minor shortcomings, the historical value and unique atmosphere make the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace well worth visiting—especially for history and culture enthusiasts who wish to experience the living heritage of a Javanese kingdom firsthand.

If you'd like to learn more about the history of Surakarta (Solo) during the kingdom period, I recommend visiting this Royal Palace (Keraton). They provide a guided tour experience where you'll be able to see the Palace's Courtyard, Museum, and Event Hall. The Palace has many more inner areas however it's restricted for tourists; mostly those are the private residences of the Royal Family Members. If you're wearing sandals, you need to take them off and explore the Palace Yard barefoot, but shoes are allowed (not sure the thought process behind it). Sarong is provided for those who are wearing shorts or skirts to cover up. Tickets: IDR 35k for locals, IDR 60k for foreigners, and additional IDR 50k if you bring a professional camera. Open from 09 AM - 3 PM daily.

This palace is such a beautiful one, as you can see they don't even change a thing of the building and it's still traditional also beautiful ✨ you can really feel different energy here where it's very positive and calming one, especially when you're going inside the Keraton area with all the trees around. The museum also look super traditional and our tour guide was super smart and friendly, he explained everything clearly and not boring at all✨

Sukuh Temple, a 600-year-old complex located 900m above the Solo plain, offers stunning views of Gunung Lawu. The temple is known for its enigmatic and striking architecture, featuring a truncated pyramid and fascinating reliefs with Barong statues adorning the facade. It is believed to have been a site for practicing a fertility cult, earning it the nickname "the erotic temple."
A very nice hindu buddha tantra isoterism temple, focusing on the story of Durga purification. There are a lot of porn statues but actually it is not a porn temple. Rather than porn, it describes the genesis of men, which is from sperm and vagina, and that makes we gave to respect our parents. The lingga of the temple , 3m high, is stored at museum national Indonesia or museum gajah. Get a guide! The story is very interesting!

Sukuh Temple, located in Central Java, is a fascinating historical site that offers a unique blend of ancient Javanese culture and mysticism. Known for its distinctive pyramid-like structure and erotic reliefs, the temple provides an intriguing glimpse into the spiritual practices of the past. While it is rich in history, it deserves more promotion, especially among young local and international tourists, to help raise awareness of its cultural significance. With better promotion, Sukuh Temple could become a more popular and appreciated destination, showcasing an often-overlooked aspect of Indonesia's heritage.

Amazing! Proof of hindu reptilian ancient astronauts and genetic engineering? Candi Sukuh, here on the island if Java, Indonesia might be the strangest pyramids = temples in the world. Many of the statues have been destroyed and had pieces removed so we don't have a full picture. The 1st pyramid has an image of a strange lingam that looks as if 2 of the alien testicles were chipped off (like found on other lingams there) and strange flaps on the side of the yoni that aren't on female homosapiens. "Hindus believe that each twist in the umbilical cord is formed during each month of pregnancy. A human baby would be delivered after 10 lunar months, so the human umbilical cord was believed to have 10 twists." -Praveen Mohan Out side, on the wall of the 1st pyramid is a baby reptilian next to its placenta. On the way to the 2nd larger pyramid shows carvings of apears to be ancient astronauts in boots and helmet with 4 testicles, genetically modified pig/cows and rino/pigs, story boards of the reptoids, traditional hindu gods (Ganesh Ji, Shiv Ji, Kaal) and Gomphotheres; that went extinct here around 13,000 to 12,000 years ago. The main Pyramid is very similar to ancient pyramids of Egypt built 4,700 years ago and Mayan Pyramids built approximately 1,100 to 1,500 years ago. All religions/pyramid/temples are off-shoots of Sanatana Dharma, because Hinduism is the oldest and prehistoric. There was originally a 6' tall Shiv lingam (with 4 testicles) on top of the main pyramid that was removed for safe keeping.

Cetho Temple, also known as Candi Sukuh, is a 15th-century Javanese-Hindu temple located on a mountainside overlooking picturesque tea plantations. To reach the temple, it's recommended to use a Jeep or tourist vehicle due to the steep and challenging road conditions. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich history of Cetho Temple while enjoying the fresh mountain air.
A Peaceful and Beautiful Experience at Candi Cetho I visited Candi Cetho on December 2024 and it was an amazing experience. This beautiful Hindu temple is located in the Lawu mountains and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place for prayer and reflection. The temple itself is stunning, with detailed carvings and a calm, spiritual vibe. The surrounding nature is also beautiful, with lush green trees and fresh mountain air. Cetho Temple, located on the slopes of Mount Lawu in Central Java, is a serene and spiritually significant site. The temple has a unique charm, with its distinct Javanese Hindu architecture and beautiful mountain backdrop. However, it's likely that the current structure doesn't exactly resemble its original form, as some parts have been rebuilt or restored over time. Despite this, Cetho Temple still retains its cultural and historical value, offering visitors a peaceful atmosphere to explore its terraces and spiritual significance. It's a fascinating spot for those interested in Javanese history and architecture, though it's important to note that some parts have been modified from their original design.

Because there are 2 steep turns and steep uphill before reaching the temple, there may be about 500 meters of the road. No need to hesitate for front-wheel drive automatic vehicles if you want to go to the location, as long as the vehicle is in prime condition and the driver is experienced. However, it is paid off with a beautiful view from the top of the temple, with an entrance ticket of 15 thousand / person. Thankyou and hopefully useful.

Beautiful temple. But already altered so much resembling besakih temple in Bali. The road to this temple already good and wide, just be careful because it is a winding road and quite steep.

It was a good historical place. The road is dangerous. If you a new biker don't go with your bike. Usually you can use Jeep or tourist vehicle. The road is too stepper and concrete and stone are everywhere. Becarefull in the driving. After reaching the place, you feel so good.
Osman M — Google review
Amazing view, large temple and rich history. Cheap tickets, cold and chilling breeze and many food stalls around the temple. The road to the temple is steep. Recommended to ride with 125+ cc motorcycle.

Simpang Lima Gumul, also known as Monument Simpang Lima Kediri City, is a historic landmark in Kediri that attracts many tourists, especially young people who come to enjoy the town's beauty and socialize. The monument resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and was built in 2003, inaugurated in 2008. Visitors are advised to stop by this spot, although it can get hot during the day.
The building is actually very beautiful and stunning. Unfortunately, it lacks maintenance. There is a lot of dust and dirt visible in several places.

Whether you're looking to explore its unique structure or simply enjoy the surroundings, Simpang Lima Gumul is a top-notch spot that truly deserves a five-star rating.

The ladies toilet is horrible. The door has no lock and the glass door is transparent and people can see someone through the glass door clearly. What's so bothering me is the janitor's room just beside the toilet. It's not safe for ladies and children going alone to use the toilet.

Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country that was originally established based-on two of its main philosophies, namely Nusantara and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Nusantara was used to refer all the islands range from Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku, to Papua which were conquered and united through the Oath of Palapa. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is a writing in the Book of Sutasoma written by Mpu Tantular which means that we may be diverse but we are one. Both of these things were the legacies of Majapahit Empire summarized in formed of Pancasila, an ideological reflection of Bung Karno during his exile in Ende, which later became the foundation of Indonesia. Ir. Soekarno is the founding father, the first president, the proclaimer of Indonesia. A man who with all his thoughts, feelings, and soul at that moment, had succeeded in freeing Indonesia in 1945 from the chain of colonialism for +- 350 years. His tenacity along with the glory of his life's history were then immortalized in a museum which was officially inaugurated by his daughter, Megawati Soekarnoputri, on July 3rd 2004, located at his homeland in Blitar, East Java, Indonesia.

The Proklamator Bung Karno Library is located near Bung Karno’s grave. It has a fairly large collection of books and provides a comfortable space for reading and working. There are plenty of seats and a quiet atmosphere, making it a nice spot for anyone who wants to learn more about history or simply enjoy some peaceful reading time.
IWA S — Google review
The place is beautiful. First time you entered, there is an office where you need to report yourself first. Once you're done you can go down the stairs and find the library on the left side while museum on the other side. Same like the entrance, you need to fill up your details first then you are free to roam around in the library. Atmosphere is super relaxing and peaceful. Clean and not smelly. AC and Wifi are there but wifi is slow in my opinion. Anyways, this is a good place where you can get a amazing view, peace, and knowledge at the same place and time.

Best library in town. Clean, good atmosphere. complete collection with new books that are always updated. Hopefully the collection of children's books will increase. friendly staff, fast service. New room. New vibes. Colorful. Kids friendly. More comfortable. Really really best place for family.

really recommend, for those of you who like history. know the journey and struggle of the proklamator as well as read the books in his library. You can also make a pilgrimage to the grave of the first president, Bung Karno, the Proklamator. You can buy various souvenirs too.

the place is clean, cool, also has good photo spots. And of course, if you want to have a trip here, the cost is really cheap, that is, you just pay the parking fee. but if you want to buy souvenirs you must also provide your own budget hehe

Museum Angkut is a unique and whimsical museum that showcases various types of transportation, from traditional to modern. It features scenes and characters from Hollywood movies, as well as an impressive collection of cars, tanks, and mopeds. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the history of transportation through interactive displays and simulations. With almost 4 hectares of space, it is the first transportation museum in Southeast Asia.
Better get your legs and energy ready—this place is huge! The museum ticket is a bit on the pricey side, but honestly, it's so worth it. Every detail is carefully designed, and you can really see the effort they put into everything. Plus, the cool Batu weather makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Debbie F — Google review
I really recommend visiting Museum Angkut, it’s absolutely worth it! The place is huge, very clean, and well-organized with so many amazing vintage cars on display. What impressed me most is that the cars are not just for show, most of them are still in excellent condition and can actually start, the engines are well-maintained. The museum opens at 11, and they also have exciting car shows with drifting. The schedule is at 1 PM, 4 PM, and 6 PM, and it’s really fun to watch. Inside the museum, there are many resting areas where you can stop, relax, and enjoy before continuing the tour. After finishing the museum, you get an incredible view of Mount Kawi, standing tall and beautiful in the background, a perfect ending to the experience. 🎟️ Ticket price: 110k Overall, an amazing experience for car lovers and families alike! 🚗✨
Zakaria F — Google review
An interesting place to learn about types of transportation from around the world. It is child and adult friendly. There are interesting and changing events all the time. The ticket price is also not too expensive, and there are many food vendors with various choices. In addition, there is also a large selection of interesting rides.

Museum Angkut is an amazing place to explore! The collections of classic cars, airplanes, and other vehicles are impressive, and the themed zones make the experience fun and educational. The atmosphere is lively, the staff are helpful, and it’s a great spot for both families and history lovers. Definitely one of the must-visit attractions in Malang.

A joyful and colorful place that brings history to life. Every corner tells a story — from classic cars to charming city replicas. It’s a wonderful spot for families, kids, and anyone who loves vintage vibes. Men can get lost in admiration over the engines and timeless designs, while children laugh and learn with wide-eyed wonder. The place feels alive, nostalgic, and full of memories waiting to be captured.
Mida A — Google review
A must-visit museum when in Batu. It showcases various forms of transportation, and we can experience travelling around the world in a single day—from Asia and Europe to the USA. Every afternoon, there’s an entertaining show on Broadway Street. No need to worry about going hungry, as a Floating Market awaits at the end of the museum tour.

The place is quite big but the condition is great. There are lots of areas that need lotsa time to enjoy urself taking pictures. There's a cafe inside and musolla for Muslim is also available (at China country area) If u wish to watch the live show, u need to take ur lunch first, then u enter the museum . The live show starts at 3.15pm and there's another 2 more shows available. Wish to repeat this place again.
Eryna X — Google review
This is a very cool museum, when you enter there is the entrance tickets, cost 110k for holiday season. As you enter there will be a lot of classic cars such as shelby cobras, military willys jeeps, and etc. Then there will be a lot more things to do, i’m not going to spill all hehe. But promise you that this place is cool, there is a festival in gangster city, food places that have es potong durian, etc. Overall, solid 9.3/10

Having great fun and able to explore half day here due raining seasons . Visit on weekdays and great less crowded and they should put more shelter in case heavy rain comes. Price is start 100ribu rupiah and it’s worth it , to those who have school holidays can bring along their children.

Nadine was an excellent guide, perfect English, very professional and extremely knowledgeable, this lady needs a promotion. So many rides great place to spend the day and great value. Amazing staff
Gordon R — Google review
good if you want to learn things. however, i came here to enjoy the rides, yet a lot of the places were closed. the staff were not too friendly to remind us that there are a lot of the rides that are being repaired/in maintenance. we clearly stated to the staff that we come for the haunted house, yet the staff just smiled without informing us anything that apparently, it was being repaired... 👎 we came for the rides, but only able to enjoy the learning experience and taking pictures... nah for me...maybe later time when the rides are opened..
Michael P — Google review
This place is suitable for all ages, the important thing is that young and old have things to prepare themselves, it's a shame to go there when it's raining so you don't ride the super complete rides, only ride 3 rides for the sake of employment safety, that's also good, it's recommended that you go here from morning so you can enjoy the rides. The ticket I bought was 110 for all the rides, even though some of the rides were paid, almost all of them were included in the 110 IDR package. Entering at the beginning of the route you will be treated to museums throughout Indonesia, then ride and go home, don't forget to buy souvenirs.
Indana Z — Google review
It's a fun and vibrant small theme park. The rides are not that special, but they have a lot of other unique attractions as well. The park is quite big, they also have a waterpark in the middle of the park for those looking to cool off.

I came here on peak season. You can buy ticket directly from ticket booth. I bought bundling ticket Museum Angkut+ Jatim Park 1 for 170K/person. I dont know exactly how much it costs on weekday. Last time i was here i think more than 10 years ago. I saw many changes and it's beyond my expectation. I think it'll need more than 5 hours to visit all areas in Jatim Park 1. Unfortunately, my visit was hampered by heavy rain for almost than an hour. So i could only stuck at the food court area. It's quite tiring to reach to the exit door because you have to get through stores and it's like a labyrinth. It takes more than 10 minutes to reach exit door towards parking area.
Belavita D — Google review
We had a lot of fun, and the prices are very reasonable for the experience you get! However, I’m removing one star because I truly believe that keeping captive animals in this setting is unnecessary. Seeing the sea turtle confined to such a small space, along with the very old aquariums housing visibly unhealthy fish, was quite upsetting. It was disheartening to witness, and I hope the management will reconsider this aspect in the future.

Quite good, of course u cannot compare it to Dufan and Universal studio Singapore. But I love the Indonesia's cultural and educational introduction from this place.

We did not stay here, only came here for the golf. The course is quite well maintained and we love the scenery surrounding the golf course. They also allow me to fly drone on the golf course. Green fee on weekday is very affordable at 700k rupiah per person, which includes caddy and buggy. There’s also free use of table tennis and pool table

THIS IS FOR THE GOLF ONLY. Nice fairways. Fast greens. Nice people. Good staff. Resto served good food too. Nice caddies. Can be challenging. Buggies were good. Buggy on track. Overall happy we came to play here.

Today we had lunch at the Taman Golf Club restaurant (full name) and the service was disastrous. We ordered our food at 4:00 PM. I received two dishes at 4:45 PM, but my wife had to sit and watch me eat for 15 minutes because her meal did not arrive until after 5:00 PM. And, worst of all, one of her dishes still hadn’t arrived even after an hour of waiting. At a restaurant of this supposed level and in the setting of a golf club, one expects professionalism, organization, and respect for the customer. Unfortunately, none of that was found here. This is the kind of place you go to once by mistake, not by recommendation. And the wisest choice is never to return

I have no words to describe the experience! My partner and I did a 4d/3n Bromo-Ijen-Sukamade on Sep2023 and it was awesome! The driver and guides were really nice and were 100% involved to make it an unforgettable experience. The landscaping, the dawns, the volcanos, the jungle, everything was surreal and you cannot be in better hands! I truly recommend this tour with Bromoijen Tour and Transport.

We had an amazing trip! Ary, the owner of the agency, was always super responsive, flexible and available, which made everything easy. Our driver Bagus was fantastic, very friendly and professional, and the guides during the excursions were also excellent. I can only highly recommend this agency to discover East Java!
Andréa P — Google review
The BROMO-IJEN Tour was very well organised from beginning to end. The communication was fluid and clear, our tour was personally customised to ensure we got the most out of our time in Indonesia. The first customisation involved being picked up from our hotel in Bali. Agus was our driver and we did A LOT of driving. He was polite and fun, accomodated our wishes every step of the way, the vehicles were very comfortable and air conditioned. We even had Wifi (on of those pocket wireless dongles) which was a very nice touch. So they picked us up from Bali, took us all the way across the country to Yogyakarta visiting Bromo and Ijen volcanoes along the way, then back up North to Surabya airport where we took a flight to Lombok. Everything went as planned, we didn't have to worry about hotels or restaurants as everything was pre-booked and Agus had all the options pre-prepared with regards restaurants. A special shout to Iwan who took us down to see the Blue Fire with our gasmasks, he was jolly, super friendly with us and everyone along the way and was cracking jokes and singing from beginning to the end! If we're every back in Indonesia, we'll be Whatsapping Iwan! Should also mention the guide who took us to Mt. Bromo from Lava Cafe let us sit on the roof of the jeep for our descent - an awesome experience. If you're going to Indonesia, get in touch with this tour agency, very professional and friendly.

We did the Surabaya Bromo Tour (2D1N) 8 May - 9 May 2019 I first emailed Ary at tbe start on January 2019. Right from the start he was so kind and helpful. He answered my countless questions and emails so quickly and was always friendly and helpful. He came to meet us at Surabaya Gubeng train station and was just as lovely in person. Our Mt Bromo tour with BROMOIJEN Tour Transport was a wonderful experience. Every aspect of the tour was perfect and we will treasure the memory of the tour forever. Iqbal was our driver and drove us from Surabaya to Cemoro Lawang and back. Iqbal was a very nice man and an excellent driver. We felt safe with him and he did a great job especially given the traffic at that hour in Surabaya. Travel in the car was very comfortable. We had great air-conditioning, bottled water and even Wi-Fi! Café Lava was very comfortable and extremely close to the entrance to the national park. A very convenient location, large bed, hot shower and scrumptious breakfast. Our Jeep Driver/Guide at Bromo was wonderful. His name is Kunang. He is such a lovely person, he made the experience at Bromo even more special. He was just amazing. Very enthusiastic, friendly, and such a great photographer! We will always remember him :-) We were extremely lucky and had beautiful views of the sunrise at Bromo. What a magical sight. We felt very lucky and thankful. BROMOIJEN Tour Transport made our Bromo adventure a perfect experience. I would recommend BROMOIJEN Transport to everyone wanting to visit Bromo. Thank you Ary, Iqbal, and Kunang.

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time. We think the whole team (the driver and tour guides) did a very professional job with us, the tour guides were amazing, specially Iwan (from Ijen volcano, he speaks spanish and was all time taking care of our safety at the volcano and inside the crater). All of the tour guides and drivers took great care of us. Since the first until the last moment they made sure everything went fine with us and resolving any questions at all time, they even came with us on the ferry, all drivers were waiting for us wherever we go on time. Very great attention. We would 100% recommend the tour. BIG THANK YOU 🙏🏻

Professional and fast communication at a fair price. We had to change our plans due to the recent earthquake and contacted Bromoijen. Ary was very friendly, professional, and responded quickly . Even though we decided to go with another company in the end, I wanted to leave a good review because he made such an effort to work out a good itinerary for us and the price would have been very reasonable. (We didn't go because Bromoijen was fully booked on our preferred dates which is understandable in high season and on a short notice).
Anna M — Google review
We did the 4 night (Bromo-Kalibaru-Ijen) package tour with Ary, who was very friendly and communicative the whole time. He really tried to make sure we enjoyed ourselves, and was very flexible when we were delayed coming in to Surabaya and when we requested a different ending point for the tour. Advice for Bromo - bring goggles and prepare to be coated in ash and dust if it's windy. The guide Iwan was great, and he honestly takes the best photos. We will definitely go through Ary again the next time we're in the area. Recommended!
