The name literally means “Seat of the King,” and it’s said that the kings of Kodagu once came here to watch the sunrise and sunset. Today, it’s still one of the best spots to take in the breathtaking landscape of Coorg’s rolling hills and misty valleys. I went during the evening hours, just in time for sunset, and the view was absolutely mesmerizing. As the sun slowly dipped behind the Western Ghats, the sky turned shades of orange, pink, and purple, casting a magical glow over the entire valley. It was a peaceful yet lively moment — peaceful because of the beauty around, and lively because of the energy of the crowd, everyone trying to capture that perfect shot. There’s a small entry fee of ₹20, and the place is well-maintained with gardens, benches, and a small musical fountain area. The viewpoint can get very crowded during sunset, so it’s best to arrive at least 30–40 minutes early if you want a good spot to sit and enjoy. Parking is available nearby, and there are several stalls outside selling snacks, tea, and coffee — perfect for enjoying the view with something warm in hand. I absolutely loved this place! It’s a beautiful spot with great views and totally worth the ₹20 entry ride. The atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing a perfect getaway to enjoy nature. There are mini food stalls at the entrance selling corn, ice cream, and other snacks, which adds to the fun. They even have ziplines, making it an exciting place for both kids and adults! The area has plenty of seating, so you can relax and take in the surroundings. I really liked the animal statues and the light and water show in the evenings it’s a wonderful visual treat! Unfortunately, it started raining during my visit, so we couldn’t stay long. I would suggest adding a shade or shelter near the light show area so visitors can still enjoy it during bad weather. There’s also a park for kids, where they can play and have a great time. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for families, couples, and nature lovers looking for a relaxing and fun outing.

I think, it is most the famous waterfall of Coorg. it is located about 8 km from North of Madikeri town in Coorg, is one of the most enchanting waterfalls in Karnataka. Surrounded by lush coffee and spice plantations, the falls offer a refreshing escape into nature’s serenity. The water cascades down from a height of around 70 feet, creating a mesmerizing misty view, especially during the monsoon. Visitors can reach the falls through a short walk along a scenic trail filled with the aroma of coffee and cardamom. The hanging bridge was closed while I visited the falls. it was offers the best view for photography and sightseeing. Visited on 16th Nov 2025 Not bad, combine this place with other sightseeings. You need to walk down easy stairs for a km or less to view this Waterfall, and climbback. Its easy but could be tricky for elders. Once you reach the platform, the waterfall is beautiful. It is crowded so you need to struggle a bit to see it properly, but there will be no peace with 100s of people around 😉 There are photographers who would charge to click pictures. Don't go for Francis photographer, our deal was to click 5 photos and we needed soft copies only. He said he would share later as there was no network. However, he took money and did not share any photos to us later. I am still following up with him, no response. 10 Rupees entry fee for adults, and free parking space 😊

It's good waterfall only to watch. We cannot take bath as its restricted. Situated in the green coffee estate center area and other side forest. The scenic beauty is good to watch in Sep to December months. Later the flow will be reducing. Can take the ticket there itself after parking vehicle nearby. 750m walk to falls from main road. It may be difficult for the people with knee pains and elders as some area steps climbing is required.

This is the sacred birthplace of River Cauver. This place has a panoramic view. The drive from Baghmandala to Thala Kaveri is panaromic. River Kaveri is wife of Agyasthiyar Rishi also known by name Lopamudhra. There is no cost/ ticket to dip in holy Cauvery starting point Kund. One can offer some dakshina to the preist there who will happily do basic pooja. Beside the Kund, there are dress changing room separate for men and women. Also to mention free slipper stand and toilet are available as one enters the shrine Gate. First time when I went to Cauvery Kund, there were lot of tourist from north taking holy dip. But, the second time I went in September, during rainy season. Very few tourists came. the Kund had freezing water and the dip in Cauvery, is etched to my memory for life long. After taking holy dip and changing dress; perform pooja to Kaveri with preist. Then go up 20 steps, to visit 3 temple built. The Shiva linga is the one worshipped by Saint Agastya rishi.

It was nice visit to this spiritual place. Went along with my friends. This place has very different vibe all together. Mighty Kumar Parvat is being visible. Went on Saturday evening had our prasad which took around 1 hour including wait & taking of prasad. Faced issues while getting guest house of Temple trust (book in advance) availability on weekends or festive season will be a issue. Took hotel outside. Darshan: went at temple at around 0600hrs and waited in a que till 0700hrs. Darshan started at 0700hrs & by 0740hrs we were out. Cons: Temple committe should work ok Maintaining the cleanliness of prasad house Overall experience was nice.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Kukke Subramanya Temple, one of the most divine and scenic temples located in the lap of the Western Ghats. The temple is beautifully built in traditional South Indian architectural style, with intricate wooden carvings and a peaceful ambiance. The main deity here is Lord Subramanya (Kartikeya), worshipped as the protector from serpent doshas. You can also have darshan of Vasuki, the serpent god, and other shrines like Adi Subramanya, Ganapati, and Uma Maheshwara within the temple premises. - The darshan queue is well-managed, on weekdays it takes about 30–60 minutes, while on weekends and special days it may take longer. - There are options for free darshan as well as special darshan tickets (₹50–₹200) for quicker Darsan. - The Anna Prasada (free meal) served by the temple is simple, delicious, and very well organized. - Timings: Generally, darshan is available from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM. - Ample parking space is available near the temple at a reasonable charge. - Numerous shops selling pooja items, prasadam, and local snacks are available right outside. - Several lodges and restaurants nearby offer decent accommodation and food options. Overall, Kukke Subramanya Temple is a spiritually uplifting and peaceful destination worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

We felt energised after visit to Kukke Subramanya temple. The kumaradhara river with rituals of placing flat stones in a pile in the river and on river bank. There are temples of Anjaneya, Ganapati and Vana Durga on the road to Subramanya temple. The road from Mangalore to Kukke has improved and further works are in progress.

A nice spot to visit while you are in Sakleshpura .. unfortunately not very well maintained, even the board to indicate the fort is not there at the entrance.. You have parking area at the foot of the fort. Around 250 steps to climb before you get to the top, a moderate hike.... Fort looks good and has scenic view around... Definitely for folks looking to take photos, ample opportunities 😁

A beautiful Blend of History and nature! Manjarabad fort, built by Tipu Sultan is an eight pointed star shapedbfort that offers stunning views of the western ghats. The short climb is totally worth it. The mist cool breeze and old stone walls create a magical atmosphere. Though facilities are limited the fort has a charm of its own. Fort which is little close to sakleshpur, well maintained by the staffs.. Challenging for few people as we need to climb close to 300 steps which might take close to 15 to 20 min. No private parking for this area... Had to leave at the side road .. also no restaurants near by so pls don't plan for ur food along with this visit

Coming to history of this fort was built by the then king of Mysore tippu sultan on 1792 to mark his power of succession over the region.This fort is used to store the ammunition and gunpowder for cannons.I do not recommend going to this fort unless you are a historical sites enthusiast anyway you will not be able to see the star shape of the fort which is unique. I strictly warn if you are going with older people

recently visited the Chennakeshava Temple in Belur, and honestly, it left me speechless. The moment you enter the temple complex, you can feel the history and devotion in the air. Every inch of the temple — from the outer walls to the smallest corner inside — is filled with unbelievably detailed carvings. You could spend hours just admiring the artwork and still keep finding new details! The sculptures are so lifelike and expressive — especially the dancing figures and mythological scenes. It’s hard to believe these were carved out of stone more than 900 years ago. The craftsmanship is truly world-class. The temple is still active, so you’ll see rituals and hear bells ringing, which makes the whole experience even more special. I also took a short guided tour (which I highly recommend) — it really helped me understand the stories behind the carvings and the history of the Hoysala dynasty. The surroundings are peaceful, and the place is well-maintained. It’s a perfect spot for anyone who loves history, architecture, or just wants a calm, spiritual break from the busy city life. If you’re planning to visit, try to go early in the morning or late afternoon for the best lighting on the carvings. And don’t rush — give yourself time to really take it all in.

Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it features a star-shaped plan, intricate soapstone carvings, and graceful Madanika sculptures that embody divine beauty.🎶 The Belur Temple Complex, built during the reign of the Hoysala dynasty, is centered around the magnificent Chennakesava Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, renowned for its star-shaped design and intricate soapstone carvings. Surrounding it are several smaller yet exquisitely crafted shrines, including the Kappe Chennigaraya Temple, built by Queen Shantala Devi as a miniature version of the main shrine, and the Andal (Ranganayaki) Temple, dedicated to the divine consort of Vishnu. Other notable shrines within the complex include the Saumyanayaki Temple, honoring another form of Goddess Lakshmi, and the Narasimha Temple, depicting Vishnu’s fierce man-lion incarnation. There‘s a parking fee of Rs.50 collected but no receipt given. No one to guide further, we had to go around the temple and find the parking lot at the back of the temple. 😒 At the entrance need to leave the footwear at the counter, was charged Rs.30 (no receipt given) At the entrance Guides can be availed ( Rs.500 - Receipt given), guides share history and details of the sculptures for 20-25 minutes. Can easily spend 1-2 hours admiring and taking pics. 😎 Theres a stepped pond and a book stall selling books of rhe history of Hoysala and temple in all languages. Best to visit either morning before sun goes up or after 4 pm as the stones gets heated up to walk Have a good time at the temple. Please keep it safe for generations to come 🙏

Beautiful ancient temple with amazing carvings! Visited Chennakeshava Temple in Belur and it's absolutely stunning! The temple is over 900 years old and the stone carvings are incredible - every wall has detailed sculptures that are hard to believe were made by hand. The architecture is beautiful and it's still an active temple. Very peaceful atmosphere. Takes about 1-2 hours to see everything. Remove footwear inside and dress modestly. A must-visit if you're in the area. Highly recommended!

Bekal Fort is a must-visit gem in Kasargod! The old colonial-style fort is beautifully constructed, and walking through its massive walls gives a glimpse of history and architecture that has stood strong for centuries. The fort itself is well maintained and offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. Right next to it is Bekal Beach, which is clean, lively, and very happening. There are plenty of small stores and eateries around, making it a perfect spot to relax after exploring the fort. The sunset view from both the fort and the beach is simply spectacular. A perfect blend of history and natural beauty — highly recommended for anyone visiting North Kerala!

Bekal Fort is one of Kerala’s most impressive and beautifully maintained historical landmarks by ASI. 👍 Got famous after a Movie song in film (Bombay) 🎥 The entry / parking can be better managed, had to wait on the road for 20-25 minutes inching from main road to parking lot. Parking charge is Rs.40 Entry Tickets to be bought at the counter opposite to the main entry to port (Rs.25) Spread over 40 acres, it’s the largest fort in Kerala, built in the 17th century by Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty. Later, it came under the control of Tipu Sultan and the British — each era leaving its mark on the fort’s architecture and story. Prepare for long walks and inclined climbs in watch towers. Scenic views of the sea and nearby beaches and town views, worth it. There are stone benches to sit / relax. Could see drinking water taps at few places. There are couple of small shops selling ice cream, juices and water, packed chips, etc. Best part is on the west side sea viewing point (going down stairs) and watching sunset. There are places to sit and also go up to the final watch tower where the waves hit against. Around 5:45-6 the guards keep whistling to get the people out 😀 There are small sandy beach areas besides the port but access is restricted, though could see few people. Sea is rough so not recommended to venture. Overall a great place to spend few hours and take pictures 👍

Visited Bekal Fort recently — it’s a beautiful historic place with a stunning sea view. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for an evening visit. The fort area is well maintained, though it can get quite hot during the day, so sunset time is best. Nearby, there’s an ANERT EV charging station, which was very convenient for charging my electric car. Food options are limited (mostly ice cream and water), but overall it’s a must-visit place in Kasaragod! 🌊🏰⚡

Dharmasthala temple is a unique in temple architecture, unlike other temples have big gopurams, here the temple architecture looks like a home. - The temple is very spacious to accommodate thousands of devotees. - The premises surrounding the Dharmasthala town is like a forest and bit of uphill. - The main deity is Lord Manjunatheswara - Also, deities you can see Dharma Devas and Ammanavaru - Only traditional dress is allowed for Darsan, Male – without banyan and shirt, Jeans allowed. Female – Saree or Panjabi dress. Children – No western wear. - After Darsan, you can visit the Anna Prasada Hall and have temple food here. - Overall Darsan may take anytime between 30 mins to 2 hours, depending on the day and time you visit the temple. - If you have the time, visit the Netravati river and perform river bath before having the Lord Manjunatheswara Darsan. The lot of parking space is available near temple if you come in your own vehicle. Outside the temple you can find lot of shops and hotels if you need to shopping at roadside and have food. If you have the please do visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple which is about 1.30 hours away from Dharmasthala temple, and in general whoever visits the Dharmasthala temple, they also visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple.

There is drinking water facilities too and stores which sell eatables. Room is also equipped with TV. - Darshanna was quite good compared to before days. - Parking facilities are available - The Annaprasadam dinning hall also is so good and systematically arranged, one should not miss it.

Difficult to find rooms but the cost is affordable to all. Long wait for darshan. Recently they made resting areas during the queue like tirupati. Clean floors. Better to visit in the early morning to avoid rush. We entered at 6.30 am and came out at 7.30 am.

This is a very popular hill station near Chikmagalur that invariably is on the itinerary of every tourist. The drive itself is very scenic and beautiful. The road at places is bad but overall a good experience. Even though we visited this place on a weekday there was a good number of tourists. Light drizzle and a slightly misty top provided a surreal view.

We visited in the October end, it was great. We can go by our own vehicle to the top. Road is also good. It was fully covered by snow and you can feel the clouds passing by. And also there a temple within caves, but phones are not allowed inside. Nice place to visit, if it’s not covered by snow then you can get great view.

I just loved the place everything is perfect about this place there are 3-4 points here one is peak a view point a water falls(jerry falls) and one temple which is worshipped by both the communities i visited in june and for me it's the best time as monsoon just hit the place.

Baba Budangiri Peak: A Mesmerizing Journey to Serene Views Baba Budangiri Peak is truly a captivating destination, and I've been fortunate enough to visit multiple times, even making it a combined trip with Kallathigiri Falls on one occasion. The journey up to the peak itself is absolutely mesmerizing, winding through beautiful landscapes. Be aware that the forest department collects an entrance fee and conducts checks upon entry. Once you get closer, you'll find there are about 3-4 distinct points to explore, including the main peak, a viewpoint, and a waterfall. You can park your vehicle near the stalls and dargah at the top, from where it's roughly a 2km walk to the peak. Alternatively, if you have a bike or a vehicle with good ground clearance, you can actually drive right up to the last point; it's not as difficult as some might claim. Don't be swayed by local vehicles trying to charge a lot by stating the terrain is unmanageable – that's often not true. Once you reach the final parking spot, making the short 10-15 minute climb to the very top of the peak is a must. The view from up there is simply serene, often cloaked in a mesmerizing fog, creating a wonderfully calm atmosphere. As you enter the area, you'll find stalls selling refreshments like Maggi, bread omelet, fruits, and water, though do note that these items are a little pricier than usual. It's a fantastic place to experience nature's grandeur and find some peace.

This is the highest peak in Karnataka, stands tall at 6330 feet.👍 Named after sage Mullappa swamy, who believed to have mediated in a cave at the peak. Located 20+ KMs from Chikkamagaluru, would need 40+ minutes due to the winding and scenic hilly roads. Make a note to get the Mullayanagiri vehicle pass online in advance to allow the car thru the checkpost as there are limits on the number of vehicles entering in a day. Need to park the vehicle at Seethalayana giri base and avail a local jeep services (Rs.50 per person one way) there. Jeep drops at the Mullayanagiri base / parking lot and from there it is a 20-25 minutes climb through paved stairs. There are around 450+ stairs, not very even, challenging for people with mobility issues. The climb is beautiful, offers great views of Chikkamagaluru valleys, Baba Budangiri hills and Shola forests, grasslands and distant waterfalls There are no restrooms at the peak, carry water, At the base there are many food cart vendors for snacks. No restaurants or ATMs. Weather keeps changing, most of the time mist engulfs blocking the views and offers a different kind of experience. Carry a light jacket, may tend to get colder post monsoon. At the peak/summit, there is Mullappa swamy temple and a milestone mentioning the height. The summit area can be kept clean and neat, on the other side some old buildings, thrash and debris are seen. ☹️ Would be a great place for taking pics and enjoying scenery/nature 👍

Visited this place before local authorities has made booking tickets online. View is great. Morning views are still beautiful. There is a temple at the top. One can easily spend half a day. One has to park their vehicle near Seethalayyana giri and walk or take jeep for next 3km. Even if you take jeep ride, they'll stop around 1.5 km before actual peak. So, it is very much convenient to walk as the path is very good and not much steep. There are some food vendors near the temple and near Seethalayyana giri.

Great view point. We spent ₹100 at entry, we have to do the booking online only from the website we can do, if you haven’t done you can do at the toll, even if you have network issues they have wifi. Cars ₹100 There are slots, mostly in weekends better book earlier. Bike no charge So u can go by own vehicle or rental or by package too. Own vehicle earlier is allowed till top, now they stop 3km before peak saying its new DC order. Not sure from when and why this came up, but yeah yu can take a jeep from there. Per jeep minimum 6 ppl, per person cost ₹50. In total they charge ₹300 one way, if you are group of less than 6 then also same amount or if yu okay with sharing they u can let two ppl join you. Two way cost avg ₹100 for jeep, which is quiet expensive, and to be honest we can go by our car itself. At top we have small shops, and tower is very bad. They will leave u at entrance from there u have to take 300-350 steps to reach top and there is a temple. Views were so good, climate was chill carry jackets for comfort. Since we went on a weekday it was fully empty.

Just an amezing place. enjoy the nature beauty from highest point of the hill. you need to buy ticket via online or at the entrance. Vehicle needs to be parked near Temple and from there to mullayanagiri , you need to go with shared Jeep. Its worth exploring it.

We visited Mullayanagiri around 11 AM, and the views were absolutely amazing — refreshing wind, scenic mountains, and a peaceful atmosphere. From the drop point, you need to climb around 500 steps to reach the peak, which is totally worth the effort. There is also a temple at the top that adds a spiritual feel to the experience, and the view from there is just stunning. However, the experience felt a bit commercialized. From Seethalayyanagiri parking, jeeps are the only option to reach the drop point, and they charge ₹200 one way. If bikes or cars were allowed instead of forcing everyone to take the jeep, the visit would be more hassle-free and less commercial. Overall, a beautiful place to visit — great for photos and nature lovers — but the transportation arrangement could be improved.

From parking to peak around 400 metre treks. Beautifull view but the place is not managed properly. Authority should plan beautification of this place.

A tranquil temple slightly away from Kasargod town. As we step into the temple premises there is an instant calm that settles in you. A beautiful experience. Do not miss the sannidhis near the dining hall. I have heard that the annadaanam here is very good.

A must visit temple. It's near Kumbala in Kasaragod dist. About six km from Kumbala railway station. You will get Autos from station for about Rs. 130-140. The temple closes after "Ucha pooja" at 12:30pm and after that there is Anna prasadam, very delicious veg lunch. There is guest house also. Those who want to stay can book by calling to the temple office.

This is a unique Hindu temple in Ananthapura, only temple built in the middle of a lake in Kerala. 👍 The main sanctum is surrounded by a rectangular lake, access to the sanctum is via a footbridge on the eastern side. The temple welcomes all visitors regardless of faith who are respectful and mindful of the sacredness of the place. Dress code - Men need to remove the shirts / T-shirts before entering sanctum area (you can remove and keep them with you). Women are expected to wear Saree, salwar Kamez, or long skirts. Avoid sleeves tops, short dresses or tight western wear. Puja tokens are issued near the entrance counter The lake seems to have a Vegetarian Crocodile 😀 we couldn’t see though. Footwear must be left outside the temple like any other temple. (No shoe racks) Photography inside sanctum not allowed. There’s enough parking space for two and four wheelers outside. Few shops in parking area to buy any puja items.

The Shree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Temple, often called the Ananthapura Lake Temple, is a captivating and peaceful sanctuary nestled in Kumble, Kasaragod. As the only lake temple in Kerala, it offers a truly distinctive pilgrimage experience. It is an absolute must-visit! This temple holds immense spiritual importance as it is believed to be the Moolasthanam (original seat or source) of the much larger and famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The legend centers around the great sage, Divakara Muni Vilwamangalam, who was performing penance here. Lord Vishnu appeared before him as a mischievous child, whom the sage, annoyed by the pranks, chastised and pushed away. The child vanished into a cave, proclaiming that the sage would find him again at 'Ananthankadu' (the forest of the serpent Anantha). This cave is still visible near the lake, and the sage's subsequent journey led him to Thiruvananthapuram, where the massive Padmanabhaswamy Temple was eventually established. The Deity and Spiritual Core The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his non-reclining form, Ananthapadmanabha, The main sanctum is built on a rock structure in the center of a large rectangular lake (known locally as the kottaram). The architecture follows the classic Kerala style, blending seamlessly with the serene natural environment. The Lake and Its Divine Guardian The most famous and unique feature of the temple is the natural lake and its resident 'divine' crocodile, Babiya. Legend holds that Babiya is the guardian of the temple and is a strict vegetarian. While we visited the temple, the famous crocodile, sadly, remained elusive. We could not find the crocodile on this visit, but the large pond did host several fishes, which were cool to watch as they darted through the water. The Ambience: A Cool Midday Retreat We visited the temple around 12:00 PM in the afternoon, which might typically be the hottest time of the day. Surprisingly, the atmosphere was exceptionally calm and refreshing. The traditional architecture, the lush surroundings, and the cooling effect of the water all contributed to a wonderful, cool vibe. It was a serene and welcoming experience, making the midday journey completely worthwhile. Accessibility and Tips The temple is located approximately 14-16 km from Kasaragod town. It is easily reachable by road. Timing: Check timings before visiting, as like many temples, it closes for Ucha Pooja (midday worship). Visiting around 12:00 PM might mean you arrive just before the closing.

Ananthapura Temple is a truly peaceful and divine place. The atmosphere is calm, spiritual, and very well maintained. The most special attraction is the famous guardian crocodile, which makes the temple even more unique and valuable. A must-visit temple for anyone coming to Kumble.

The best place ever for devotees.. Goddess Annapoorneshwari is so powerful that she makes you to automatically come there, take blessings and have the Annaprasada whenever she wants to see you. Her Ashirvada is the only thing everyone would love to have and she gives it hands full if you seek her blessings from your heart. There are accommodation facilities available. You can have a hot water bath for 30rs only. Washrooms are neat and clean. To prebook the rooms you should contact the office. Waiting time for darshana is around 5 to 10 mins and the greatness of the goddess is she allows all to get her view from as near as possible. Mangalarathi takes place around 1.30 pm in the afternoon and that might be the best time according to me to have darshana in the day time. If you are staying in there then the night darshana and mangalarathi would be great as the Alankara to the goddess looks amazing and divine. From this place sringeri is 3 hours away and you can plan one day trip to both Sringeri and Horanadu. Many types of Seva are available and the Akki Seve is the one which is very famous.

Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple was one of the most peaceful and fulfilling experiences I’ve had. The moment you step inside, there’s a sense of comfort that’s hard to put into words. The darshan of Goddess Annapoorneshwari feels genuinely divine. The way the deity is adorned and the energy in the sanctum make the whole experience very calming. The temple administration is well-organized, and the place is maintained with real care. The highlight, of course, is the anna prasadam. It’s simple, pure and served with so much warmth that it truly lives up to the spirit of the temple. Sitting down for that meal feels like a blessing in itself. The surroundings are beautiful too, especially if you visit early in the morning or around sunset. The entire area has a quiet spiritual charm that makes you want to stay back for a while. If you’re anywhere near Chikkamagaluru, this temple is a must-visit. You leave with a full heart and a feeling of gratitude.

Nice temple. The temple located on the bank of Tunga river. Very powerful godess. We visited the temple just 5 days back when it was raining. Due to raining the temple sorroundong area was become dirty. Otherwise temple is well maintained. The food is very tasty. The dinning hall is very clean and hygiene. Huge car parking available opposite to the temple. Overall it is very good holly place and everyone should visit.

I recently visited the Hornadu Annapoorneshwari Temple, and it was a truly peaceful and divine experience. The darshan felt very special and serene. The temple management is very organized. The darshan queue moves quite smoothly, and even on weekends or special days, the wait is not too long. There’s no specific fee for regular darshan, and the temple offers free meals (Anna Prasada) to all visitors throughout the day. The prasadam is simple, tasty, and served with great devotion. It’s one of the main highlights of this temple. - Clean and well-maintained premises. - Separate area for footwear and a cloakroom for bags. - Plenty of parking space near the temple. - Shops outside selling pooja items, prasadam, flowers, and souvenirs. - Lodging and food options available nearby for those who wish to stay overnight. - Darshan timings: usually from around 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Overall, Hornadu is not just a temple visit, but a soul soothing experience filled with devotion, nature, and positive energy.

Very Good Place. Beautiful memories. I love the management of temple like they are providing free morning afternoon and night full of Annaprasada (meals) and good place to take rest and washrooms . That too they provide pillows and bedsheets to sleep.

You can feel the might of the great sea here. Amazing. Mind blowing. The beach is enclosed in both sides sadly, and even in the front due to it being monsoon so not much to do but sit and stare. If you are lucky you can even spot a few peacocks. Note: They charge you Rs. 100 per 1.5 hours for the umbrella chairs, the non-umbrella benches are free.

Tannirbhavi Beach in Mangalore is a hidden gem for anyone looking for peace away from the hustle of the city. The shoreline is wide, clean, and far less commercialized than most popular beaches, making it perfect for long walks, sunsets, or simply sitting by the waves. The sea breeze here feels refreshing, and the golden hour views are absolutely worth the visit. What I loved most is the calm and uncrowded vibe—you can actually hear the sound of the waves without constant noise around. However, since there aren’t too many shops or eateries nearby, it’s better to carry your own snacks and water. Also, swimming can be tricky because of the strong currents. Overall, Tannirbhavi Beach is a beautiful spot to unwind, capture stunning pictures, and experience coastal Karnataka in its raw, natural form. 🌊✨

Lived up to the expectations of a Blue Flag award. To get here, you take a short ferry ride from near Sultan Bathery across the Gurpur river, followed by a quick 400-meter walk. The month I was here (July), the tides were high and barriers along the shore kept us from entering the waters. Such a beautiful spot to spend time at. There are mini cafes at the entrance where you can grab a quick bite during your visit. Sorry I don’t have the best pictures!

Tannirbhavi Beach which is a blue flag beach awarded by Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), India for that meet high standards in water quality, environmental management, safety, and sustainable tourism. Essentially, it signifies a beach that is clean, well-managed, and environmentally responsible. The beach was very gorgeous, neat and I really fall in love with the beach. Since its rainy season and lot of high tides around in Arabian sea, Beach management asked visitors not to enter into the sea and they put barricades around the sea. Worth visiting.

Historically, Thanneer Bhavi has been known as a peaceful riverside spot, and over time, it became a calm coastal beach visited mostly by locals. Unlike the more popular beaches, this one is quiet and serene—perfect for those who want to enjoy nature without the crowd. If you’re visiting Mangalore and want to experience the raw beauty of the sea, Thanneer Bhavi Beach is a must-visit. You’ll come back feeling refreshed and connected to nature.

It's a Haven of Butterflies Visited Beluvai Butterfly Meet 2024 (Batch 8): This place is a paradise for nature lovers. We spotted 90 butterfly species in 3 days. The garden's night walk was thrilling, revealing many nocturnal creatures. We savored delicious Mangalorean meals throughout our stay. Excursions to nearby forests allowed us to observe butterflies in their natural habitats. Kudos to Sammilan's team for their excellent organization. Don't miss to buy the beautiful butterfly lapel pins as a souvenir.

Aimed at spreading awareness about butterflies, this Butterfly Park is a must visit. The owner is extremely patient and explains both via a presentation and in-person the lifecycle of a butterfly, the speciality of each type of butterfly. The park showcases a diverse variety of butterflies and plants. It's educational and highly interesting.

I have been visiting this place since 2021, it's been getting more and more awesome, a 3 day session is must visit to see more butterfly activities be it in summer or monsoon, if you go for one day visit you may not be able to see much activity and a butterfly life documentary will be screened at the park. Do try to attend both monsoon and summer meets to see more number of butterflies, also the park is not just for butterflies, you will also find other creatures as well, if you are a macro photographer then you will get one or the other to photograph like moths, snakes, frogs scorpions, spiders and nany more.

Panambur Beach — a really nice beach, though it gets quite crowded in the evenings. The best time to visit is early in the morning to truly enjoy the vibe. When we went, it started raining, and the dramatic visuals of nature were both stunning and a bit scary to witness.

Located some 12 km from the city centre, situated quite inside from the main road, this beach doesn’t come close to the fame it has. It’s a dirty, badly maintained and just one-time visit type of beach. Quite spacious and good scope to develop it as a model- sea beach, Government apathy and lackadaisical attitude towards any tourism places not just beaches have made such a wonderful location in a just one cheap and third grade beach. I don’t recommend. But yes, it does have some extra activities to for enjoyment.

Best during monsoon and less effort to reach peak which is hardly finds 20 to 30 stairs but 6-7 kms road travel is very narrow and steepy. Good place to sit and chill.

Do not visit during the monsoon, since you won't be able to see the breathtaking views that everyone is talking about. Once in a while the fog clears up and you can appreciate the view. The drive/ride up the hill is tortuous and difficult. Would not recommend unless you have a bike or a decently powerful scooter. Stay safe!

This place route is not so easy, road condition is totally worse! If suddenly opposite vehicle comes, it becomes difficult to manage and pass from there! Better park your vehicles near the Main road temple Arch and take a jeep ride or better enquire with nearby localites about the condition before going to tophill During our visit it was difficult due to worse road condition

This is one of the oldest Jain temples, dating back to the 17th century, located atop a hill at an elevation of over 800 meters. The site offers a mesmerizing viewpoint and is truly a must-visit destination. Please note that the approach roads include several narrow curves—drive carefully.

Beautiful sights of the valley below and rocks around. The drive up to the hills was difficult with very rough dirt roads. But worth the view.

It's a Jain temple with breathtaking view at the hilltop of the western ghats during the monsoon season. The road though is in very poor condition. People with good driving experience can take this route. The gate to this place closes down at 5pm so make sure you reach there on time.

Awesome and beautiful place for weekend fun. It is a jain place of worship so pls maintain sanctity and respect the nature. Enjoy the view and do not pollute the environment. Can enjoy the fresh air and greenery. Reach there by 6 am and not later to enjoy sunrise and also the view.

It's a nice place to visit at night as u can see the lightening chariot and the pond would be fully decorated with beautiful lights. But the dharsan pathway is too smelly n the restrooms were not cleaned properly. The food providing hall is also dirtyy.

People sit in the long rows and food will be served in steel plates using trolleys. Must eat here once you come for Darshan. Hot food and tasty. If you are late you may miss curry ( banana fry item).

Food is available 2times a day.. Nad absolutely free of cost.. In ekadashi kitchen is closed. Lunch available from 12 to 2 And Dinner from 8 Pm to 10. You can donate if you want. Menu if fixed Dal, Sambar and Rice. Sambar test so different from ever I eat anywhere. Cleanliness is absolutely fine in Dining hall.. Dishes are not so clena.. Take some tissu and Water botol with you. Don't waste food take all you can eat.

I have had food at many famous temples like Dharmatsala, Tirupathi, Kukke Subramanya, etc. but Udupi Temple have very poor food quality. In the rice serving atleast 15-20 rice bugs was there. We consider this as Prasadam and don’t want to complain. But definitely this quality requires improvement.

Kind of prasasan in the form of food. The devotees are given food free of charges. The serving starts only after a line of people are seated. The plates come in a trolley,. Infact, everything comes in trolleys pulled by the service persons . The plates are to be picked when they go past you. The serving starts with a sweet. Then the rice is served, followed by dal, and finally chaas. The devotees need to give their plates themselves for washing, before washing their hands

There are also guest houses and a dormitory for those wishing to stay overnight. Shops selling flowers and puja items line the approach to the temple, along with some restaurants catering to visitors. Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Rathotsava in December are celebrated with grandeur here, drawing large crowds. On regular days, especially weekdays, the temple offers a calm and spiritually enriching experience. Annegudde Temple at Kumbhashi is an important spiritual destination in Karnataka. Vinayaka temple Annegudda Udupi District Anegudde in Karnataka . One of the best known Ganesha temples in Udupi District is that of Shri Maha Ganapathi at Anegudde. Anegudde is one of the seven ‘Mukti Sthalas’ (Parashurama Kshetra) in coastal Karnataka . While the name Kumbhasi is said to be derived from Kumbhasura, who was slain here. The story behind the name goes like, Long ago Once, faced with recurring spells of drought in the region, the sage Agasthya decides to perform yagas and penance to please the gods and bring rain. But all his efforts were constantly ruined by a demon named Kumbhasura living in the vicinity. The sage is determined that the demon must be eliminated to bring peace and prosperity to the region. Having learned that the Pandavas were roaming the region in exile, he requests Dharmaraya (Yudhisthira) to send Bhima for slaying the demon. Being the strongest amongst the Pandavas, Bhima readily agrees and a ferocious battle ensues. Despite Bhima’s strength, he is unable to kill Kumbhasura, who, by the virtue of a boon, seems invincible. Worried about the prospect of defeat, Bhima, while returning to camp after the day’s fight, happens to hear a divine voice that advises him to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha for achieving victory. On praying to the Lord, Bhima is bestowed with a sword by him, in the guise of an elephant that helps Bhima slay the demon. Tulabharam, a custom of offering to God valuables in weight equivalent of a person is frequently done in this temple by devotees. Ganesha Chauthi is the main festival in this temple. I've visited this stunning hill station twice - once in 2018 during the rainy season and again in 2019 during the summer. Both times were breathtakingly beautiful in their own ways. Plus, there's an option to reach the top by jeep too, so you can choose your adventure. A very spiritual and calming place nestled in nature. The darshan of Goddess Mookambika is truly divine and gives a sense of peace. The temple is neat and well organized, and the priests conduct the poojas beautifully. The road to Kollur is scenic, making the journey enjoyable. However, it can get very crowded during weekends and festivals, so patience is needed. The Souparnika River nearby adds charm, but cleanliness could be improved.

One of the most beautiful spots I’ve seen in India. The place is nice , calm, cool and soothing. Excellent place to click photographs. Sufficient parking space is available. Tickets are around Rs. 20 per person. Looks like they are planning many new attractions here, as there’s plenty of construction going on. Best time to visit would be when they open the nearby dam, and the waterfall is in full flow.

I visited during dasara holidays and it was not very crowded, which made the experience peaceful and enjoyable. The falls looked beautiful and the weather was pleasant. There are some construction works going on near the view points and entrance, but it didn't affect the overall experience much. A great place to enjoy nature and relax.

It feels like milk is gushing down from the waterfalls more than water. India’s biggest waterfall is absolutely an eye soother. The ghat roads leading to jog falls, the Shimoga district, the road exiting Shimoga and going towards kumta all are satisfying. ❤️🧿❤️

Small temple with quick 10-15 tour. Well preserved and clean. One of 6 in the small area dating back to 1500 CE when Bhatkal was Vijaynagar empire's main port trading with persian gulf and beyond. Khetapai, one of the diamond business trader is believed to be amongst the many businessmen who donated to make these temples. Worth a quick stop, and only 100mt off the NH66. We happened to have the pujari around and he was very kind to explain the story of the stone art - of various gods, mahabharata and Krishna Leela.

A smallish beach that is clean and also less crowded. I understand this beach can be reached by boat or by hiking from nearby beaches. I had hiked it down from the Belekan beach (30 min) which was an amazing experience. From here I walked down to the Half moon beach. The beach has some shops and shacks.

Paradise Beach is a hidden gem, accessible only by trekking from Om Beach to Half Moon Beach and then onwards. The best time to embark on this adventure is during the early morning hours (6:00 am - 9:00 am) or late evening (4:30 pm - 6:00 pm). Don't forget to carry water bottles to stay hydrated. The scenic trek rewards you with breathtaking views and a few quaint cafes along the way. The lush green surroundings and serene atmosphere make it a truly unforgettable experience. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers!

Truly a paradise if you can endure the rough trek to the beach from the parking area (which we did). An easier option perhaps is to take a ferry ride from Om beach which is more accessible. They offer a pickup and drop facility and offer half or full day packages with some beach activities like kayaking, deep water swimming etc. thrown in at a reasonable cost.

One of the most unforgettable adventures of my life! Reaching Paradise Beach is not easy, you have to trek 2–3 km through a dense, dark jungle. We went at night with just our torches, singing and motivating ourselves along the way. But the moment we reached, it truly felt like Paradise. We camped on the beach, cooked barbecue, and spent the night under the stars. If you love adventure, this place is a must visit. Not for the faint-hearted, but absolutely worth it!

Beautiful , serene and calm beach...We trekked from om beach to Halfmoon to Paradise..such a superb experience...While on the trek trail it feels we are inside a dense forest no sign of sea around and after that beautiful trek the trail leads us to the beach...Amazing view and Experience.. Some shops are available here for refreshments. Waste management is poor is ,we an see some plastic wastes dumped by the sea in the beach
