There is a dress code to be followed, shorts and sleeveless not allowed so carry a spare jacket, fortunately the administration gave us a shawl which was returned after coming back. The statue offers a sense of calm and photography is allowed but selfies and drones are not allowed. Must visit place for history lovers and architecture fanatics.

There is nothing like this place. It’s a historical spiritual temple that makes you forget everything and the statue just grabs your attention. If you are physically fit it will take you around 25 mins to climb the mountain but the view, energy and every step was so worth it. I hope I come here again and again. If you have some one who can’t climb the mountain you can ask for doli at main office. The dharshan is worth it.

Lovely place, the rope bridge across the river is main attraction. Huge market outside. Entry fee is 10 rs. Inside park after the river has rabbits, parrots, deers etc. Paddle boating is also available. Adventure sports mini versions are also available.

Brindavana Gardens ಬೃಂದಾವನ ಉದ್ಯಾನವನ What a beautiful place with lushy greenary, beautiful flowers, well maintained pathways, water fountains. If you ever visit mysore you must visit Brindavana Gardens, and make your day happy. Ticket price is one hundred rupees only per person, and transportation for this is kind of moderately expensive, there are buses but they only reach to Brindavana gardens circle only, from that we have to take auto. Drinking Water and washrooms are kept for visitors convenience.

It is a very pretty garden. There are fountains, front and centre. It has a lot of beautiful arches covered with vines. A wide variety of flora and fauna can be seen over here. It is extremely colourful through and through. It is an aesthetic garden, a perfect place to click pictures.

We had a wonderful experience at Dubare Jungle Lodges! The place is truly beautiful, surrounded by nature, and perfect for a family or friends outing. The food served was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. One of the highlights was bathing and feeding the elephants – such a unique and memorable experience! The staff deserve a special mention – they are extremely sweet, caring, and make you feel very comfortable. On the night of our stay, we were the only family there, and though we felt a bit scared at first, the staff were so friendly and reassuring that we soon felt completely at ease. Officer Ram was very helpful throughout our stay, and Nagaraj, who guided us on the safari and nature walk, was polite, patient and courteous Overall, we had the best day at Dubare Jungle Lodges and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in nature

Stayed at JLR Dubare on 12th October 2025 Open but safe parking. Rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Food options are limited but sufficient. The safari is good for beginners — great to enjoy the forest landscape and trees, but not ideal if your expectation is to spot tigers or elephants. The Dubare Elephant Camp is the real highlight — a wonderful experience to interact with elephants up close: bathing, feeding, and learning about them. Special thanks to Mr. Girish, an excellent naturalist, who ensures you have a meaningful and memorable time with the elephants. A must-visit for elephant lovers!

Rooms were spacious. We booked the River View cottage and the view was indeed beautiful. The food was homely and all the service personnel were extremely helpful. The elephant interaction and elephant feeding activities were great! The safari was not worthwhile but that might have been our bad luck.

We only stayed for a day, but wow, what a great spot! The backwater scenery is stunning. We had such a fantastic time—the music was awesome, and Prashanth, you have a killer voice! Seriously, the food is delicious too. Definitely recommend it!

If you want an entire private jungle experience, head to JLR - Dubare. The resort is completely cut off from the rest of the crowd. To start with, you can park you vehicle on the banks of the Cauvery, and take a private boat to the resort. There you will be greeted by the helpful staff who will brief you about you stay. The itinerary includes 3 meals , tea/coffee, snacks apart from the nature walks and jungle safari. If you are luck you will spot some creatures during the safari. The staff is courteous and polite. During the rains, beware of leeches abd make sure to wear closed footwear. The resort's room are made with bamboo furniture and there is damp smell to it. If you dislike this, visit in the summers, but Cauvery might run dry then. The main attraction is the fully private elephant interaction experience. You can bathe and feed these gentle giants and click a million pictures with them. A must do, if you have kids.

Absolutely stunning palace, it's majestic looks is a pleasure to watch from a distance and at when it's lit up in the evening, it takes you into fairy land kind of feeling. Inside also is very royal in its looks, a room is dedicated to Raja Ravi Verma's paintings, other rooms and people's court and VIP court are just magnificent.

Mysore Palace is truly majestic, but be prepared for heavy crowds on weekends. It’s better to visit on a weekday for a smoother experience. Footwear is not allowed inside, but you can deposit your sandals at the counter free of cost. There is car parking available at ₹50, which is convenient if you’re driving. The entry fee for the palace is ₹120, and you are allowed to take your camera inside without any extra charges. Once inside, you can enjoy the beautiful architecture, vibrant interiors, and royal design. However, if you’re expecting a full heritage display, it might feel limited — many rooms are closed, and there aren’t many antique items on show. Facilities such as toilets and small shops are available inside the premises. If you’re visiting on a Sunday or public holiday, don’t miss the palace illumination between 7–8 PM. The entire palace lights up beautifully and is truly worth watching. Overall, Mysore Palace is a must-visit for its grandeur and architecture, but plan your timing wisely to avoid long queues and crowds.

The palace looks good from a distance but nothing much special inside. I strictly recommend visiting in the early hours so that you can spend ur time nicely as you like it, if you reach late they will still give you the tickets but chase you away before 5.30 to 5.45 pm However the light show is good in the end 10 mins with the full lights on the palace, it's for 1 hour first 40 mins you listen to the story and again they will chase you out to start the next 1 hour show.

The zoo was a delightful experience overall, offering a pleasant atmosphere for all visitors. visited Mysuru Zoo and really enjoyed the experience. I got to see the tiger, hippo, leopard, cheetah and giraffe, which was the highlight of my visit. All the animals looked healthy and active. The zoo is clean, well maintained and has lots of trees, so walking around felt relaxing. There are benches and water points along the way, which was helpful. The information boards near the animals were also easy to understand. It's a great place to visit with family and kids. Overall, I had a very good time at Mysuru Zoo and would definitely recommend it. Note: eat well before you enter

An absolute wow! Probably the best zoo in the whole country. All the animals are given plenty of space to wander around. So many species of animals, birds... And they even got some rare species, like white peacock, bengal tiger, black swan, etc. The zoo is veryyyy big, so u can easily spend ur whole afternoon here. They have clean restrooms, places for seating everywhere, and that too in a reasonable ticketprice... They also apply stickers on the plastic items u carry inside, in order to ensure no spoiling. Overall, loved it ✨

Mysore zoo has always been great. It is one of the best zoo in the country. It is quite large with a lot of collection of different animals. Although zoo is not the right way to see animals where they are kept in captivity, Mysore zoo has kept the animals enclosures as close to their natural habitat environment as possible. The design of the animal enclosures are quite good and no compromise on the space. The animals also appear well fed and healthy. The zoo is almost always crowded. The zoo is quite large and the entire walk around the zoo is more than 2.6 km. But battery operated carts are available for the elderly and those in need. Plastic is not permitted inside the zoo. They collect ₹10 in case you are taking any plastic inside the zoo. This is refunded if you show the same when you come out of the zoo. There are lots of trash cans inside. Adequate toilets are also available inside. The full trip to the zoo could take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours depending on how fast one can walk. There is a lake with boating facility adjacent to the zoo. If one wishes, a combined ticket to the zoo and lake can be purchased.

One of the well maintained and the biggest zoo in South India. All the animals and birds looks active, if you visit in the morning soon after the opening time. You can see lots of big trees and resting seats all over the zoo. Trees are properly maintained. Animals are fed on time. We happened to see some doctors checking up with the animal caretakers. The entire zoo holds around 3km of area, so you will be burning up your calories for sure. A must visit place in mysore, if you have kids. Also, you can book your tickets through scanning the QR code shown before the ticket counter. So, the payment can be done through UPI without any hassles. You need not stand in the que for tickets. This is very much appreciative.

Mysore Zoo is beautifully maintained and easily one of the best zoos in India. The variety of animals is impressive lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and many rare birds. The enclosures are spacious, and the greenery inside makes walking around very pleasant. You can choose how you want to explore: take the battery operated bogey ride if you want to cover the zoo quickly, or walk if you’d like to really see and experience everything at your own pace. Walking gives you the full feel of the place, but the ride is a good option if you’re short on time or with small kids. Weekdays or mornings are the best time to avoid heavy crowds. Overall, a must visit in Mysore for families, kids, or anyone who enjoys nature and wildlife.

Beautiful waterfalls during the monsoon. It has a very spectacular view. Parking is available near the waterfalls. Roads are good till we reach the destination.

Directions: 133 kms from Bengaluru and 78 kms from Mysore, on the state highway, Maddur - Kollegala Road. iii. Plenty of seating place at different levels, socialise and photograph. iv. Closeby restaurant, souvenirs shopping available.

Breathtakingly beautiful. It takes you a while to get there but it's so worth it. I went on Independence day so there was a lot of crowd there so I would suggest going during offseason to peacefully listen to gushing sound of the falls. The viewing area is vast and there is enough space to accommodate a lot of people, you just have to be careful of the crowds there. Plenty of roadside food options too. Definitely worth a trip.

It's a beautiful place it visit specially during monsoon season when the water is released from KRS dam. The beauty of this place can't be expressed in words you need to come n experience by yourself. The flow of water from the rocks is just like milk flowing through it, that's the beauty of this place. I suggest this place for a one day trip. Though the government is taking entry fees the road to such beautiful place is in worst condition from many years, since many people visit this place they should develop proper road to here.

One of the best One day trip place to visit if you are in Bangalore. July to August perfect time to catch hold of Cauvery water falling from the hill rocks. Roads are very nice, it takes approximately 2.5 hours from Bangalore. If someone starts at 6am. Breakfast can be planned on Kanakapura road side restaurants and easily by 9am you will reach the spot. Going early avoid entry and exit traffic at the spot. Big land with Ample parking available near the falls, don't go crossing the parking ground since it's dead end it will be difficult to get U turn done, only bike parking can be done there. Govt has constructed the view points in 3 to 4 spots in a step wise manner for us to view the falls from different angles. Suggest to take umbrella since this is raining season. You get snacks and juice there. Mobile signal is weak here, UPI payment can be difficult better to carry cash.

Journey was so beautiful with hill n palm tress view. Destination is blessed with Beautiful waterfalls with two sides – Gaganachukki and Bharachukki. Best in monsoon when the flow is huge.Last but not least don't forget to for Kaveri river baoting.Nice spot for a quick trip from Bangalore/Mysore. Gets crowded on weekends, but worth it for the view!

I visited in the second week of July, and it was truly great to witness the waterfall in full flow. There is ample parking available, which is very convenient. Please note that you cannot go close to the waterfall or touch the water for safety reasons. This is a must-visit place for a one-day trip from Bangalore.

The temple is a revered Shakti Peetha, deeply rooted in mythology as the place where Goddess Chamundeshwari (a fierce form of Shakti) slew the demon king Mahishasura, from whom the name 'Mysuru' is derived. Dating back to the 12th century, the temple’s current magnificence is largely due to the patronage of the Wodeyar royal family, who adopted the Goddess as their tutelary deity. The temple is a stellar example of Dravidian architecture, instantly recognizable by its towering, seven-tiered Gopuram (entrance tower), which is adorned with intricate carvings and topped with seven golden Kalashas. The silver-plated entrance doors and the peaceful atmosphere inside the Navaranga Hall truly convey a sense of ancient, royal devotion. The location itself, nearly 3,500 feet above sea level, is captivating. The drive up the hill is scenic, and the summit offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city of Mysuru. From the viewpoint, you can clearly see landmarks like the Mysore Palace and Karanji Lake. For those interested in a spiritual and physical challenge, the climb up the 1,008 steps is highly recommended, as is stopping to admire the colossal monolithic Nandi statue—Lord Shiva's mount—situated halfway up the hill. As the temple attracts devotees globally, it can get very crowded, especially on weekends and during the auspicious Ashada Shukravara (Fridays in Ashada month) and the spectacular Dasara festival. To ensure a smoother darshan, I highly recommend purchasing the Special Entry Ticket (₹100) or the VIP Darshan Ticket (₹300) to bypass the longer general queue. Public transport via KSRTC buses is frequent, and ample (paid) parking is available. Remember to follow the modest dress code and note that the hill area is strictly a No Plastic Zone.

Visited the Chamundeshwari Temple on Nov 1st during Rajyotsava— the darshan itself was truly divine and powerful, you can really feel the energy of the goddess. However, the overall experience was quite stressful. The temple gets extremely crowded, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Even with a VIP pass, we had to wait for hours in the queue. Entry tickets cost ₹30 for general darshan and ₹100 for special darshan, but everything is cash only. Crowd management was poor, with no separate lines for senior citizens, families with small kids, or differently-abled devotees. It was hard to stand for long, and the pushing made it uncomfortable. The staff were not very polite, and there was a lot of confusion inside. Parking was also badly managed, adding to the frustration.Govt really need to improve crowd management and cleanliness of Chamundi devi temple. On the positive side, the temple’s divine atmosphere, architecture, and the powerful darshan of Chamundeshwari Devi make it worth visiting at least once. The authorities just need to improve arrangements so devotees can experience peace along with devotion.

Chamundi Temple is a beautiful and divine place in Mysuru, built during the reign of the Mysore Wadiyar kings. It is believed that Goddess Chamundeshwari killed the demon Mahishasura here, which is how Mysuru got its name. The temple’s 1,008 stone steps and the massive Nandi statue carved from a single rock reflect its glorious history. They also serve delicious prasada at specific timings (as captured in the picture). Temple is good it is on the chamundi hill, here you can see devi chamundi statue inside the temple by puchasing the ticket (general ticket- 30 Rupess, VIP Datshan- 100 Rupess) per person. You can visit nandi statue which is nearby to the temple nearly 300 steps down. You can have a picture with most famous Mahisasura statue. Near the mahisasura statue only you can get the bus also to enter in the city again. Don't forget to take picture here from the hill top from where you can see the whoe Mysore city.

Standing before this 12th-century Hoysala masterpiece, I felt like I was walking inside a living scripture. Every inch of this temple carved from soapstone carries a story… scenes from the Ramayana, Lord Vishnu’s divine forms, dancers, warriors, celestial beings — all frozen in time yet so alive to the heart. It’s humbling to think that centuries ago, in golden evenings lit by countless diyas and moonlight, this temple must have shimmered like a dream. I could almost imagine the hymns in the air, the fragrance of incense, and devotees circling the temple with faith as unshakeable as the stone beneath their feet. If only stones could speak. Shri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple is about an hour’s scooter ride from Mysore, and the journey itself is beautiful, passing through the South Indian countryside. This 13th-century UNESCO temple isn’t very large, but it’s definitely worth a visit. You can easily spend around an hour exploring the carvings and atmosphere, and the entry fee is only about 3 USD (parking not included). It was calm and quiet when I went (especially during the monsoon season), which made it a perfect place for silence, reflection, and of course some beautiful photos. You can hire a guide if you’d like, but with a bit of AI assistance for dates and background info, I felt I got along just fine — and honestly, how many numbers and years do we really remember? If you do decide on a guide, read up beforehand about realistic fees and tipping. A beautiful wildlife sanctuary with rich biodiversity and serene landscapes. The safari is well-managed, giving a good chance to spot elephants, deer, bison, peacocks, and if lucky, the majestic tiger or leopard. The forest feels untouched and peaceful. A must-visit for nature and wildlife lovers seeking an authentic jungle experience. However, you have to wait for getting tickets as there is only one window and there is always crowd.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve forest is a lush green thick forest shutter to numerous number of birds and animals. This road leads to Ooty, Tamil Nadu. This natural forest is a treat to watch. WE spotted lot of Deers. If you are lucky you can see Elephants, Peacocks, Tigers also. This forest is a land of lot of tigers. If you want a rich wild life experience Bandipur Tiger Reserve is a perfect getaway. Monsoon Season will be the best time to visit.

However, the parking is not easily identifiable, lots of these for cars are given to the buses. The hike from parking to the cave is moderately challenging, with 5-6 steep slopes. We went on a Sunday so it was extremely crowded with many people jumping queues and yelling. More staff is needed to manage the crowd on such days.

They assign a numbered parking area (ours was No. 7), and from there, you walk some distance before the line of small shops begins. The path gets progressively steeper, though it’s a tar road initially. After a long uphill walk, you’ll reach another ticket counter (₹50 per person) to continue further. Beyond this point, the path turns rocky and steeper, and you’ll need to climb or walk over rocks carefully. There’s even a narrow opening to pass through, a fun little adventure before you reach the upper section. The views from there are beautiful, and thankfully, steel railings have been installed to assist with the climb. At the top, on the right side, there’s a cave-like chamber where you can see ancient carvings, not very clear, but still fascinating to witness in person. The exit route is separate and has full steel railing support for an easier descent. ⚠️ Note: The climb is not suitable for elderly visitors or those with health or breathing issues. The trek up the Ambukuthi Hills is moderately challenging, with a mix of rocky paths and scenic greenery all around — but the view as you climb higher keeps you going. Once you reach the top, the cool breeze and panoramic view of the valleys are absolutely stunning.The caves themselves are truly fascinating. Inside, you can see ancient carvings on the rock walls — human figures, animals, and strange symbols that date back thousands of years. It’s amazing to think that these were made by people from the Stone Age! The atmosphere inside the cave feels calm and mysterious, almost like stepping back in time. Overall, it’s a perfect blend of history, adventure, and nature — a must-visit spot if you’re in Wayanad.

Place of historic importance - it is more of a rock chamber than a cave. A large rock wedged into the space between the surroundings rocks has formed a large room which probably was used as a living space by people 1000s of years ago. The walls have rock cut pictorial depiction of humans, animals and natural phenomena. There is also evidence of writing in Brahmi script

Visiting the Edakkal Caves was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had in Wayanad. The trek up the Ambukuthi Hills is moderately challenging, with a mix of rocky paths and scenic greenery all around — but the view as you climb higher keeps you going. Once you reach the top, the cool breeze and panoramic view of the valleys are absolutely stunning.The caves themselves are truly fascinating. Inside, you can see ancient carvings on the rock walls — human figures, animals, and strange symbols that date back thousands of years. It’s amazing to think that these were made by people from the Stone Age! The atmosphere inside the cave feels calm and mysterious, almost like stepping back in time. Overall, it’s a perfect blend of history, adventure, and nature — a must-visit spot if you’re in Wayanad.

Place of historic importance - it is more of a rock chamber than a cave. A large rock wedged into the space between the surroundings rocks has formed a large room which probably was used as a living space by people 1000s of years ago. The walls have rock cut pictorial depiction of humans, animals and natural phenomena. There is also evidence of writing in Brahmi script

It's a strenuous climb upto the caves,even to the ticket counter. Be prepared with good shoes and not advisable for those already struggling with climbing stairs. There are only stone steps carved out of rocks and no hand rail on the way up. On the way down was easier with steel hand rails and straight steps.

Decent spot in Wayanad with nice views from the lake. They have pedal boats, but cycling them is quite tiring and not very smooth. The place is okay, not the best. But still a relaxing break if you're nearby and want to enjoy some quiet time.

Went here without much expectations and there is nothing either, it's just a walk around the lake and if you are interested in some boating you can go here. Also we went during rainy season, there were lot of leeches every one has seen the blood.

Pookode Lake is a calm and refreshing spot. I visited today and loved how peaceful the whole place felt. The walkway around the lake is scenic, the water is clear, and the surrounding greenery makes it perfect for slowing down and just enjoying the moment. It’s a great place to sit by the lake, relax, and take in the view. There are a few activities like boating and small shops around, but the best part for me was simply the quiet atmosphere. Even with people around, it still feels serene. The place is clean and well maintained too. If you are in Wayanad and want some fresh air and a peaceful break, this is an easy recommendation.

A beautiful, picturesque lake that's a perfect spot for families with children. Just be aware that it gets extremely crowded on holidays and weekends, which means a very long wait for boating. We'd highly recommend visiting on a weekday to enjoy it peacefully.

Paying money fornthe park is a waste of since 80% of things in park is broken/not working. But we cannot do peddle boating or kayaking wothout paying to enter to the park which is waste of money. But peddle boating was worth of additional money spent. Great view.

It was an amazing experience. Could clealy see the hair pin curve roads, the beautiful mountains, clouds and ofcourse the fresh air. You have to be there by 6 - 6:30am latest to get the most of it and spend an hour around, click pics etc. After that the mountains will be covered by snow (Koda in local language). If you aee staying in a nearby hotel, get up early, go to this place, come back and then have your breakfast n stuff. You won't be able to see anything after 8 - 8:30 am. No entrance fee and have few parkings on one side of the road. Since we reached there early, there were only a few tourists thus got parking very easily.

Be aware of monkeys. This viewpoint is located along a national highway, surrounded by greenery and offering a scenic experience that automobile riders are sure to enjoy! The view becomes absolutely stunning during sunset, making it a must-visit spot. This viewpoint is located right on the last hairpin bend of NH766 and is one of the most beautiful and easily accessible spots in Wayanad. It offers stunning panoramic views of the Western Ghats and breathtaking sunsets. There isn’t any dedicated parking space near the viewpoint. Visitors can park their vehicles near the entrance arch and walk down to the spot. Unfortunately, some people park on the hairpin curve, causing traffic issues on the busy road. The views from here are truly mesmerizing. You can see the lush green valleys below and the majestic Western Ghats stretching into the horizon. If you walk a bit further below to the next curve, you’ll be rewarded with a magical sunset experience. The mist-covered silhouette of the Western Ghats during the evening adds to the charm, making it a must-visit spot! Just before you reach the arch that welcomes you to Wayanad, you have this Lakkidi view point. Most people stop here to enjoy the view. You can see the top view of twists and turns of the ghat road. It’s best to see vehicles driving up at night as small dots of light. There is only a small space by the road side to park the vehicles. So make sure you don’t trouble other vehicles while parking here. Also beware of monkeys who could possibly steal your snacks.

There may be a traffic near view point on week end we have to wait near 15 mins, but after that we can see the full beauty of the ooty view. We can cover almost full of the area from here. Stunning view is there try to be visit on sunny day otherwise mist may hide the view. Entry fee will be collected at the entry for vehicle and we have to pay 20 rs per head we can pay through UPI also. Many shops available there we can purchase small things. Restroom available here.

This is a really good view spot in Ooty and a must visit, it is the tallest point in the Nilgiris. The experience was decent, first you are supposed to buy a ticket, but before you get in line for the ticket, you have to enter the market, which had clothes and souvenirs. There are may cameramen present there who will click and print photos on the spot. There is also a watchtower, which you can climb up to get a better view from the Peak. The road leading up to this peak is also scenic, with tall trees.

A few minutes away from Ooty centre, it's worth visiting. At Doddabetta checkpoint, around Rs 50-60 deducted for car entry. Entrance fee is Rs 10. Have to walk a couple of steps to go to the viewing point. There's a small watch tower. There's also a few steps leading down to another viewpoint. Overall, amidst the hills of Ooty and Doddabetta, the views are scenic and serene.

One of the great spots to experience Ooty . I wanted to see sunrise but looks like they allow only after 8 am & they follow stringent timelines on open n close so don’t bother visiting after or before official time . They are many good scenic spot while climbing the peak as well .

The views are beautiful, and the lively surroundings make it a great spot for families, friends, and tourists. However, the cleanliness of the surrounding areas could be improved. Some shops tend to dispose of waste water and garbage carelessly, which affects the overall experience. Additionally, toilet facilities are quite limited, especially considering the large number of visitors the beach attracts. Overall, Kozhikode Beach is a great destination with amazing food options, but better waste management and improved sanitation facilities would make it even more enjoyable.

Our visit was on a rainy and windy afternoon so we could not spend much time. However we have been to the beach at different times and spend time. We enjoy the gigantic waves and the cool breeze. It is a beautiful beach and keep it clean as some areas were not. Sunsets and sunrise are amazing 🤩

I visited Kozhikode Beach early in the morning around 6 a.m. The place was full of life...many people were out for exercise, walking, sitting, and relaxing. Near the park area, some were practicing martial arts, others were playing football, and quite a few were just enjoying watching the activities. The atmosphere is vibrant and it’s a good spot to spend time. However, the beach is not at all hygienic. It is quite polluted, lacks proper walking paths, and is poorly maintained. With better cleanliness and care, Kozhikode Beach could truly become an excellent attraction for locals and visitors alike.

Well, big land converted to a religious place having Lor Shiva's statue 🙏 but other than the statue, it is just a place where you can enjoy some food, have shower, and see bullock cart. Lastly a Dome, also called Dhyanlinga where you can sit and meditate. It can also be done at home for people who don't know. Try this, go back home and close your eyes, empty your mind and call upon whoever you worship. God is within you. They have SAVE SOIL slogan and they love animals. There is bullock cart in 50° degrees carrying passengers from one place to the other. I mean we have battery cars and golf cars but they love animals and want them to know that they are loved deeply. Lets make these poor animals carry 9 people at once under the 50° degree sun. Touche! Tradition can be supported with technology too, we don't need to harm animals this way. We could barely walk in the sun and these poor animals were carrying so many people. God forgive these people who are doing this to animals 🙏 BATH FACILITY - We had shower in the morning so we didn't go shower here. I mean it's not elixir otherwise we would have definitely. DHYANLINGA - the road (walk only) leads to dhyanlinga but when its nearly 50° degrees, it makes it difficult to walk barefoot on the UNEVEN and hot surface. They could have put Carpet on the foor covering uneven surface but i guess they were short of funds and also they wanted you to feel the culture. You are going to feel that culture the next day too when your feet hurts. There were old people walking slowly and some of them were pouring water on the floor to walk on that hot surface. It was 3PM and Carpet is a must for people who aren't used to walking on the uneven hot surface. Finally when you reach dhyanlinga, they will force you to sit inside dome and meditate. We recently had an accident and couldn't sit on floot so they forced us to sit on the chair. We didn't want to be rude so we sat for 2 minutes. There was a small baby crying very softly and these CARETAKERS asked the lady to get out pointing finger as if she made a huge mistake. If they can't respect humanity, what good will come of anything they practice in life. We saw that and immediately stood up. 2 of them tried blocking our way. Well, just to be clear, We bow to God only and there was no God here. We are not slaves they need to get this to their heads. We left instantly without responding to them. By the way, the best feeling was when we bought 3 packets of biscuits and made the dog eat. He was very happy and kept coming back to give his love. That was the only good feeling we got. We made sure the dog wasn't hungry anymore and then left back for the hotel. Canteens are everywhere so don't worry if you miss one. There are more on the way. Also phones were not allowed but we noticed some of them carrying it quietly with them. The deposit box is safe. They take your photo and phone number. So nothing to worry about.

We visited in the evening, and watching the lights play over the massive face of Shiva under the night sky was truly divine. It’s a place where spirituality meets serenity. I must commend the facilities management team—the entire campus is kept spotlessly clean, remarkably well-organized, and visitor flow is managed very efficiently. The Adiyogi area of Isha Yoga centre is about a km from parking area. This is a very impressive giant sized statue on a large platform. There is a Shiv Linga in the forecourt area of this statue where visitors can offer Jal abhishek amidst continuous chanting. A good arrangement ! But the walk from parking to the adi Yogi arena can be a challenging one for senior citizens & children during mornings & summer times as it's a wide open area without any trees/shade. So beware of this aspect & go prepared with sunglasses, Caps etc.

Visited Palakkad Fort on a holiday and it was almost empty except for a few workers. The calm and peaceful atmosphere made it a relaxing stop. Don’t expect an overwhelming or grand experience, but it’s definitely worth visiting for its historical significance. A quiet place to walk around and soak in a bit of heritage.

It is an old palace ground that has been converted into an elephant sanctuary, where you can see many elephants cared for and trained for temple rituals. Watching the elephants being bathed, fed, and decorated for temple festivals is a wonderful experience, especially for children and families.

Punnathur Kotta, also known as Anakkotta meaning "Elephant Fort" , is an elephant sanctuary and former PALACE located near the Guruvayur Temple in Thrissur, Kerala, India. It is a unique sanctuary and a major tourist attraction, housing and training the elephants that belong to the Guruvayur Devaswom (temple administration) for participation in temple rituals and festivals. Punnathur Kotta (Largest Elephant Sanctuary) is one of the largest elephant camps of its kind, home to approximately 50 to 60 captive elephants at any given time.he site was originally the palace grounds of a local ruler, the Punnathur Raja, before being acquired by the Guruvayur Devaswom in 1975. The sanctuary provides the elephants with food, shelter, veterinary care, and training from mahouts (trainers). Punnathurkotta Elephant Camp – Devotion or Silent Suffering? Visited the Guruvayur Devasthanam Elephant Camp (Kottara) at Punnathurkotta, home to 36 elephants, of which only 3 are female. A stark and disturbing reality: almost every elephant is chained on two or three legs, with only a rare few chained on a single leg. The mood is unmistakably heavy — none of the elephants seem at peace. Their eyes reflect stress, loneliness, and captivity. One particularly sensitive elephant is kept away in a secluded inner enclosure, possibly due to trauma or temperament. A board reads “Livestock Office” — reducing these revered beings to mere inventory. It’s heartbreaking to witness such cruelty masked as tradition, especially when elephants are considered sacred in our culture. Where is the compassion in our devotion? If worship doesn’t include empathy for the beings we use in rituals, is it truly divine?

'Punnathur Kotta' is managed by 'The Guruvayoor Devaswom Board'. It's a sanctuary for elephants. Very great care of elephants is taken by management. Here elephants are being trained for temple processions and festivals. It's a must visit place. Jackfruit lovers, don't miss to taste 'Jackfruit Icecream' sold at a shop near main entrance.

According to tradition, a visit to Guruvayur Temple is considered complete only after offering prayers at Mammiyur. The temple is under renovation stage. The architecture reflects the classic Kerala style, rich in spiritual energy. A spiritually significant and serene place — a must-visit for devotees coming to Guruvayur.

The ancient Mammiyur Temple is situated at a walkable distance of 200 metres North West to the famous Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple. The main diety is Lord Shiva in the form of Uma maheswara. Door for Main deity will be closed by 10 AM and the door for Devi will be closed by 12 PM . Then again pooja will start by 5 pm only . Outside temple there is clock room and rest room available . Story behind Mammiyur which is interesting. The legendary history extends to the consecration of the famous Sree Guruvayur Temple - It was the final phase of Dwaparayuga. The great Deluge has submerged Sree Krishna's abode Dwaraka and the Lord, as a playful child, was frolicking on a banyan leaf tossed about by the surging waters. Devaguru Brihaspathi and wind god Vayu stumble upon him where upon the Lord himself handed over to them the idol of the Supreme Lord that he has been worshipping at Dwaraka, with instructions to have it installed and consecrated at an appropriate spot on earth. Guru and Vayu then descended on the banks of a sprawing lake Rudratheertha rendered holy by Lord Shiva who has been doing penance there for ages. Realizing the purpose of the visit Lord Shiva suggested the consecration there itself on the bank of Rudratheertha and obligingly moved over to a near by location on the other side of the Rudhra theertha. The place where Guru and Vayu consecrated the idol of Lord Krishna became GURUVAYOOR and the site that Lord Shiva chose for himself and his consort Sree Parvathy became Mahimayur, mahima evolving out of the status bestowed on Lord Shiva for voluntarily relinquishing his initial abode to accommodate Lord Krishna. Mammiyoor Temple is a peaceful and divine place located close to Guruvayur Temple. The temple has a calm and positive atmosphere, perfect for a quiet spiritual visit. Currently, some renovation and maintenance works are going on, but darshan is still smooth and well managed. The temple premises are clean, and the staff and devotees maintain good discipline. It’s believed that a visit to Guruvayur Temple is complete only after visiting Mammiyoor, so this is definitely a must-visit for devotees.

Moolavar : Sree Mahadeva Thayar : Sree Parvati Some of the salient features of this temple are…. The temple cmplex faces east. The complex consists of both Shiva and Maha Vishnu sannidhis side by side with common entrance. Dwarapalakas are on both sides of the entrance to the sanctum sanctorum. Balipeedam and Rishabam are in front of Shiva’s sannidhi and only balipeedam infront of Maha Vishnu sannidhis. In praharan Ganapati, Murugan and Ayyappan. The parivara deities’ sannidhis are in construction. ARCHITECTURE Both Shiva and Vishnu Temples are constructed in the same line facing east. A Rishabam and balipeedam are infront of the temple. Both temples are on adhistanam and temple was built like house with mangalore tiles roop. Thease two temples are again under a shed with metal truss.

Temple is under construction and we went by 11.05 AM but the sannadhi was closed but in internet it was mentioned as 12.30 PM. Very old architecture was missed out but the place has its own power and divinity.

Closing Hours: The temple is extremely punctual with its closing schedule. It shuts down exactly at 11:30 AM on weekends/special days and 11:00 AM on normal weekdays. Plan your visit accordingly to ensure you don't miss the morning darshan. A Tip for Tourists Be mindful of the lottery sellers operating just outside the temple gates. The temple area has a gentle rhythm of devotion and calm. Early mornings are magical, with devotees offering prayers under the first light of dawn. During Thrissur Pooram, the place transforms into a grand cultural spectacle drums (chendas), elephants, fireworks, and a festival spirit that’s hard to describe in words. There are also plenty of small shops and local eateries around the temple, where you can enjoy a good cup of tea or any ice cream or traditional Kerala snacks ouside the round bounday after your visit. Parking can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but the overall experience more than makes up for it. In short Sree Vadakkumnathan Temple isn’t just a religious site and it’s a place where spirituality, history, and Keralas cultural essence meet beautifully. Finally I would say that it's a Must visit for anyone who wants to feel the soul of Thrissur and Kerala’s heritage.

Most famous temple in thrissur where thrissur pooram is celebrated. We visited there in the evening after 5pm (suggesting you the same). No dress code like traditional dress like mundu and saree in this temple. But men has to remove their shirts while visiting the main deity. After coming out we sat near the temple and watched sunset.

Athirappally Waterfalls is a "must-visit" for nature lovers, renowned for its spectacular, cascading waters and lush, verdant surroundings in Kerala, India. Praise as the "Niagara of India" for its breathtaking beauty, the falls are known for their majestic size, described as the largest in Kerala and the surrounding green forests provide a serene and natural atmosphere. You can enjoy views from different points, including the top of the falls and the base, though the trek down to the base is a 1 km path that can be challenging. Visitors can bathe in the natural pools found in the upper part of the river near the falls. For the adventurous, there's a trek down to the base of the falls, though it can be slippery. The dense forest surrounding the falls offers a chance to experience spellbinding natural beauty. The area is also popular for birdwatching. Also famous being known as "Bahubali Falls" as clippings of Blockbuster flick "Bahubali" was shot here. It is also being featured in lot of Bollywood movies. PS:- Athirappilly Falls is a majestic sight! The water plunges from a height of 80 feet, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Highly recommended for visiting.

Great place to visit. Do visit there once. Initially when we reached there the water was low. But as time went the water raised. It was great. We were washed by the water hitting the stones. The scenes there was wonderful. There was so much crowd that time. We can buy the tickets and have to walk somtime to reach the top of the waterfalls. There are shops at the top. You can have tea or icecreams. Then on the right side there is a way to the view from the bottom of waterfalls. The way is somewhat adventurous. It will be difficult for people with joint issues. You have to walk down the road. The way to top is wheelchair accessible.

Beautiful place. A must-visit. I recommend going during the monsoon to see the waterfall in its full flow — it’s often called the Niagara Falls of India. Make sure to wear good anti-skid shoes, and be prepared for about 30 minutes of descending steps to reach the falls. During the monsoon season, it won’t be possible to get close to the waterfall due to the strong flow.

Beautiful place in the lap of nature. Must visit. Best time to visit is during rainy season . But going down nearer to the waterfalls is bit difficult.

The waterfall is majestic and powerful, surrounded by dense forest and fresh air. It’s truly a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature and photography.

We took a detour from Kochi to Munnar and visited these beautiful waterfall. Word has it that certain scenes from the movie Baahubali were shot here. It's a short walk up from the roadhead - at the fork in the trail the left fork takes one to the top of the waterfall and the right fork leads one down a winding set stony steps and then a field of large rocks to the base of these wonderful waterfall. Well worth the detour to spend a couple of hours here!! There is a small fee one must pay to visit the falls. There is parking by the side of the road, but spotty cell signal.
