The Lofotr Viking Museum, situated in Bostad, offers a fascinating journey back to the Viking Age. The museum features archeological exhibits housed in a reconstructed longhouse and showcases recreated ships. Visitors can explore a 1.5km trail leading from the replica chieftain's longhouse to an authentic Viking ship on the water, providing insight into life during Viking times.
Fantastic; very interesting. Viking museum lots of interesting sections .from old games ; fur products. Viking artifacts. Must place to visit . Viking farm is a replica of the original which was discovered in 1980 . Opposite is the original excavation marked with stone artifacts found . The building on entry as a cafe and souvenir shop also toilets.alao a interactive museum.

Lofotr Viking Museum offers a fascinating look into Viking history with its realistic longhouse, detailed props, and knowledgeable tour guides full of interesting facts. Unfortunately, many of the hands-on activities like archery and axe throwing only operate in summer, so there wasn’t much to do during our visit — but it’s still well worth a stop if you’re in Lofoten.
K — Google review
I liked that everything is included in the price. The beginning of the museum where you listen, is a little short and could have improvement, but the rest is very good. I like the longhouse, axe throwing and arrow shooting. It's also a boat included to top the experience. Unfortunately I was a little too cold to try it this day, but looks fun. It has also a souvenir and taxfree shop.
June N — Google review
Very friendly and enthusiastic staff. The information and relics were really good. The long house was very immersive, we sat for the lamb soup…tasty. My teens and I enjoyed the minute walk to the archery, axe throwing, light hearted forest games and boat ride. A really good 3hours.
Lisa J — Google review
One of my highlights for the area, wasn't expecting it to be quite as amazing as it was. The Viking sailing experience is phenomenal (last boat at 4:30pm). Running horses, axe throwing, archery, and all the staff are so pleasant!
Kai T — Google review
The museum is really interesting, beautifully built and the personell is super friendly and open to questions. Also the prices on the area (e.g. coffee = 30NOK) are fair for norwegian standards. There is plenty activities to try out on the big area (e.g. sailing the repliqua of a viking ship, axe throwing, etc.). So why only two stars? I was actually negatively surprised that is such a friendly surrounding still a horse is offered for kids to sit on - a living being which would like to stand on the big field of the museum with it‘s animal compagnions instead of being climbed by little annoying humans who in most cases not know how to properly treat an animal - and are obviously not teached a this place. Especially when five meters away a sign is praising the norwegian horse race - what a disonance between respect and misuse. W/o that animal abuse 5 stars would be well deserved.
Valentin R — Google review
Such a disappointment for an adult visitor. The museum has great potential: the reconstruction of the longhouse is impressive, the artifacts on display are interesting, there's a film intended to immerse you in Viking life, and you can even sail a dragon boat! So what could possibly go wrong? Well, the longhouse exhibition contains almost no information in English—except for a small panel about mythology. As a result, we simply walked through a beautifully designed exhibit without gaining any real insight. I teach at a university, so I’m fairly tolerant of dry or academic content. However, the audio guide for the main exhibition has a very poor ratio of useful to irrelevant information. You have to listen to a lot of unnecessary stories just to find a few meaningful facts. The film offers no historical context—it’s merely an emotional (and slightly melodramatic) visual portrayal of one jarl’s life, again without providing much educational value. Finally, we wanted to sail the dragon boat. After a 15-minute walk to the lake, we discovered that we could only sign up for a ride an hour later. I really don’t understand why registration isn’t handled at the museum entrance - this would save visitors time and frustration. To sum up, you can have a nice experience here as an adult visitor - just don’t expect to learn much about Viking history.
Michal Š — Google review
Expansive Viking museum, with local artifacts on display, a re-constructed longhouse, & activities. It’s about a 20 minute scenic walk down to the water for boat rides & activities (axe throwing / archery / pony rides for kids). Good selection & quality at the cafe.

Hov Horse Farm

Equestrian facility
Tours
Hov Horse Farm, also known as Hov Gard, offers a charming experience for riding Icelandic horses in the Arctic landscape while immersing visitors in Viking history and locations. It's recommended to book horseback rides in advance due to high demand. The farm also features a unique restaurant that has received praise for its food and service. Visitors can enjoy camping, horse riding, and hiking around the area, with a beautiful white sand beach nearby.
What a wonderful experience of horse riding along the coast. Solid 1.5hrs of riding. 1st time tried riding horse. The guide is very clear and helpful in explaining the basic of riding horse. After the horse riding, we have lunch at the restaurant, ordered the lamb schnitzel, which was huge in size.
Poh O — Google review
Initially, I was worried about safety (some of the other posts kind of worried me) but safety was definitely #1 on the guides' minds. We had one guide leading the way on a horse and one walking with us to make sure the horse's were behaving and also checking on our saddles. They were really on top of it👌 The views were so pretty ocean side and the field of flowers near the mountains. Loved experiencing both. In addition, we took a short break and they took pictures for us! Overall, a super positive experience! It was also great for our kid who absolutely loved it.
Cathy M — Google review
Amazing guides; very friendly horses; they have helmets, gloves and jackets and pants in case it’s windy, cold or rains all part of it included in your fee. Amazing services. Highly recommend and will come back in March for Northern Lights and multi day trip

We visited to use the sauna and what a hidden gem we found. Sauna was wood fired and ready when we arrived. The beach had beautiful white sand, the arctic ocean was exhilarating to plunge in. 2 hours was the perfect amount of time. We then hung around to have dinner and it was THE BEST MEAL I’ve had in my entire life. We had the reindeer special that evening. I’ll never forget this experience. Thank you thank you thank you Hov Gard!
Gina L — Google review
We booked the sauna and stayed after for dinner. I could not recommend it more highly. They have a place to shower after your sauna and provided us with towels. The barrel sauna is beautiful and wood fired making for an excellent experience with access to the beach for cold dips. The restaurant was amazing as well. If it is a clear night in winter this area would also be great for northern lights viewing. Our evening sauna/dinner was one of our favorite experiences in lofoten and the area up there was uncrowded (in winter). Worth the trip.
Kevin T — Google review
Hidden gem. Tasty food, nice ambient with nature view. We tried even their sauna (located on the beach).
Tanja U — Google review
Took the midnight horse ride and it was so beautiful on the beach! The instructions were clear and the guides were friendly and helpful. The length of the ride was perfect, not too short and not too long. It was great fun riding the horses.
Kelly F — Google review
Wonderful winter tour with a very friendly guide. She was helpful and patient, taught us everything needed for the tour and even took pictures and videos during the ride. Incredible scenery. And then tasty cakes after the ride. Amazing experience overall 😍❤️

The Lofoten War Memorial Museum, also known as Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum, houses a diverse collection of civilian and military memorabilia from World War II. The museum showcases uniforms, weapons, literature, and intriguing items such as a lamp from the battleship Tirpitz and Eva Braun's handbag.
Museum of the second world war with an amazing collection of uniforms, weapons, books, photographs. It's amazing that the museum was created by one person. It was fantastically interesting I want to return to this museum Despite the fact that the fighting took place on the Lofoten Islands this museum contains photographs of Ukraine girls who took part in the fighting Be sure to leave time to visit this museum

A powerful and moving experience. This World War II museum offers an incredibly well-curated and informative journey through one of the most important periods of modern history. The exhibits are rich with authentic artifacts, personal stories, and multimedia presentations that make the past feel very real and present. I was particularly impressed by the thoughtful layout and the emotional impact of the survivor testimonies. It’s a place that invites reflection and helps you understand the human cost and complexity of war. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, education, or simply gaining a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made during WWII. A must-visit.
Matteo M — Google review
A great little museum with tons of stuff packed into a small place, and some very interesting artefacts. Perhaps a bit of an over emphasis on the Waffen SS, but plenty of stuff on other branches off the German armed forces as well as other nationalities involved in the war in Norway.
Martin R — Google review
A hidden gem in the north! This collection is truly impressive - a wealth of information alongside historical artifacts. The museum is a great way to spend an hour or so if you have any history-lovers in your party. You'll leave with a better understanding of how the war impacted Norway and the part that Northern Norway played.
Beau O — Google review
Museum with a lot of uniforms and other items. A lot (but not all) texts are translated to English, German and sometimes French. This museum also covers some aspects of World War II that are sometimes forgotten when viewing the large picture. This place is worth a visit if you are interested in this part of world history!
Johannes H — Google review
Just an immense collection by one extremely charming man, our visit was short but extremely memorable, recommended
Andy F — Google review
Amazing experience to see all these WW2 relics displayed. There are German, Russian, Norwegian, Danish, American and others on display. Weapons are real and not replicated, most are in good condition and you can see a lot of details on them. If you have the chance to go, do yourself the favor!
Kristoffer B — Google review
This museum has an awesome WW2 collection! Not neatly packed in chronological order, just stuffed to the brim with cool memorabilia. From swastika-Christmas bellls to an alarm horn from battleship Tirpitz. And it's right next to the cruise terminal, so if you're traveling the norwegian coastal route and only have 40 minutes in Svolvaer, you can spend 39 of them here. A true walhalla for history buffs!

Embark on the Trollfjord Cruise, a 5.5-hour journey that offers a picturesque cruise through the stunning fjord and an exciting kayaking experience guided by knowledgeable experts. The cruise takes you to Skrova Island for a memorable kayaking adventure before returning to Svolvaer. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced kayaker, this trip welcomes all skill levels.
My Parents and I did the Classic Sea Eagle Tour. It was so much fun also to have nice warm soup on the Boat and tea or Coffee. The Seagulls Followed our boat too and the Troll Area was fun too but look closely at the Rocks how that place got its name. I was Lucky to see the Sea Eagles around the troll area and a couple of nests are there you can sit outside or on a Rainy day inside the boat with lots of seats and some Tables. My dad caught a Fish I thought I almost had one as I thought I felt tugging but unfortunately it didn't clap on the hook and swam away but it was a nice try. It was a very Enjoyable tour. When we booked it in advance one of the guides was Even there who called our names. You have a choice of tours but the Classic one I did Really Enjoy and hope Tourist's will try and enjoy that one I Recommend.

The silent Trollfjord cruise was a delight! Saw many see eagles, the views were magic, the information provided was interesting and informative, the pre-ordered hot sou- was a great addition! It was an afternoon cruise and we reached Trollfjord (which takes almost 2 hours to reach) we were the only ship there and it is there when the boat switches to a quiet electric power. Highly recommend!
Dmitri N — Google review
One of the best fjord tours I've been on. The people running it were also super enthusiastic and big lovers of wildlife conservation which I heavily respect and relate to.
Emilia D — Google review
Try to do this cruise if visiting Lofoten islands. Make reservations once you are certain of the weather on the particular day you are picking - make sure it’s sunny as on a cloudy/rainy/snowy day the mountains and islands are not visible :( We were lucky to get great weather and the cruise was absolutely worth the money and spending 3 hours. It’s not choppy or uncomfortable (for people who have motion or other sickness), it’s silent and very smooth. Extremely beautiful views throughout- it was like a series of countless picture postcards ! Wasn’t windy and we could stand outside and take pictures as well as sat inside. They offer refreshments on the cruise for people to purchase. There were 2 marine biologists on board - one local from Norway and one from Australia - both very knowledgeable and shared their views and wisdom on marine life throughout. In the last 30 minutes or so, they dropped a drone in the water and showed sea kelp forest, sea urchins and other local Norwegian marine life. It was fun overall and well worth the time & money!
Neha B — Google review
Cat cruise. I’d recommend a seat closer to front of the boat. Interesting commentary along the way. Light drinks on board. Boat was very stable.
Philip L — Google review
I did Classic Sea Eagle Tour and I really enjoyed it. The giude was very nice and calm. He was very attentive to people's needs and shared some fun facts about the place with us. We saw eagles and I managed to take some awesome photos of them. We had tasty soup on board, as well as coffee, tea and snacks. The day was rainy, but it wasn't a problem at all. Thank you, guys!

Magic Ice Lofoten is located in a former fish-freezing plant and offers a unique experience with its 500-square-meter space filled with impressive ice sculptures depicting life in Lofoten. Visitors are provided with warm clothing and a drink in an ice glass upon admission. The bar's staff is known for their friendliness, and guests have praised the talented sculptor from Lithuania who serves drinks.
Stumbled upon this fun place on a July Havila cruise stop and glad we did! -5 centigrade met us with a blast of cold air (coats and gloves provided). A cold cocktail provided, and ice sculptures and an ice slide rounded out the exploration. About 20 euro admission each, which seemed steep at entrance but we laughed and chilled our way through it. Maybe stayed 30 minutes max (my partner insists it was only 15 before we were bone cold!). Hindsight says it was well worth it. Good memories.
David W — Google review
We had so much fun. The bartender/ barman from Rome was really friendly and helpful! You have to try the ice slide. Fascinating ice sculptures related to runic mythology. Excellent alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with a variety of flavors, sitting at ice tables on warm furs! I chose apple and cinnamon, and it was fantastic in the ice glass. We took lots of photos. About €25 per person, but well spent. A unique experience!
Debora C — Google review
Great ice bar, entrance includes drink gloves and jacket (returned). Staff are super friendly and helpful. There is a great slippery dip. Loved it, totally worth going. Don’t miss it if you are in town
Donna G — Google review
What an excellent find! We had 30 minutes in the port and this was ideal. Three minutes walk from where our boat docked. Excellent and very welcoming staff. Incredible ice sculptures in a permanently frozen warehouse. They provide extra warm capes. The 200 NKR admission fee includes a cloudberry wine drink served in a cup made of ice. The floor is easy to walk on, not slippy. The sculptures are Nordic themed. Be careful if climbing onto the slide or the throne (both permitted) as they are obviously incredibly slippery. ♿️ Accessibility seemed easy, wide entrance, all on one level and plenty of manoeuvring space. Once again very good find with incredibly welcoming staff. Late opening hours to suit ship’s arrivals!
Peter W — Google review
It is a tourist trap, but a good one. If you never been to a place like that it’s worth paying $30 pp (including a drink). When we went it was pretty empty, it was nice to have place to ourselves. Spent there probably only 15 minutes there but the experience was pretty cool!
Dmitri N — Google review
You put on a poncho and gloves and enter a hall cooled down to -7 Degree Celsius. A drink within an ice-cup is included as well. Big and impressive sculptures!!! Very nice experience! Thank you very much!

Sightseeing Tours
Lofoten Explorer AS is a sightseeing tour agency that takes visitors on a trollfjord and sea eagle safari tour. The outfit can be a little strange at first, but once the boat starts moving it all makes sense. The scenery of Lofoten is amazing and the tour was very informative. My six-year-old daughter had a great time too.
I booked "Sea Eagle RIB Safari" on 07/17/2023. Company : Lofoten Explorer Price : 1,090 nok I took the speed boat and saw eagles. It's good experience and activity.^^
미래소년코난(sslee1982) — Google review
Did Trollfjord and eagle tour. Was very cold but clear, but the gear they give you kept us rugged up. Tour was amazing, lots of grey action shots of white tailed eagles swooping in to feed, and a beautiful little fjord. Highly recommend.
Daryn G — Google review
Nice trip to the Trollfjord with multiple stops to view eagles. Good opportunities to see the eagles from close by. Friendly shipper which gave good explanations..
Maurice K — Google review
Very good experience! We had a great sea eagle trip — there was enough time to stop and take photos, and we saw many eagles today. The guide also gave us explanations along the way. On the way back, we even saw orcas! The guide kindly stopped the boat so we could fully enjoy watching them before heading back. Such a wonderful person!
Seah — Google review
If you’re looking for something fun to do for a couple of hours, I’d definitely recommend this. The guide was awesome—he managed the boat like a pro while keeping us entertained with amazing stories, like the one about Troll Mountain.
NNP_NUT — Google review
My experience with Lofoten Explorer was good. I did the Eagles safari and Trollfjord. The best moment was to see Eagles in wild state. Trollfjord is OK but it was not amazing for me. The views during route on the speed boat were wonderful all time. The clothes, which they borrow you, is very good for cold and wind. I suggest to wear thermal socks and good shoes for cold and wind. The staff was friendly, but I could not listen very good the explanations of guide during activity because of noise. The total time is 2,5h. The speed boat stops in different places to see eagles. The speed boat is safety. I recommend to do this activity if you want to see Eagles catching fishes and beautiful views. I will not repeat this activity because one time is enough to me and it is cost too much money.
Mario A — Google review
My wife and I had a wonderful experience. It was fast and fun, but also safe. We watched the eagles feed and visited the Trollfjord. I would highly recommend this trip.

Sea eagle safari - May ‘25 Wow wow wow!! Brilliant trip - we saw a lot of eagles but more than that the guide was great with local knowledge and seeing Trollfjord from a rib was stunning. If you get chance book it…don’t think twice!

Loved it! Never done anything like it before and was apprehensive about being out at sea for 4 hours. However, it was great. Friendly knowledgeable crew and plenty of fish to be had. For two adults and two older teenage kids it really worked. Boat wasn’t overcrowded. Definitely recommend. Nice good staff back at office too.

I booked the sea kayaking with this company and it was a great experience. Our guide was very precise and patient in explaining us how to wear our equipment and how to paddle. The Norwegian Coastal Express Museum offers a unique experience for maritime enthusiasts and history buffs. Visitors can explore a complete former postal ship, gaining insight into the daily life aboard these iconic vessels. The museum features tours of a 1956 passenger ship, providing a glimpse into the past for all ages. With physical interactions and digital displays, it offers an engaging experience, including archival insights into the first passengers' experiences and the accommodation of captains and crews.
This is the Hurtigrute Museum in Stokmarknes, Norway. It's an amazing museum. It's as if the museum was built around the ship. What I like most about this ship is that you can go directly into different rooms instead of viewing through glass. Many rooms that you wouldn't ordinarily see are open. Highly recommend.
Beverly ( — Google review
An absolute must see - either if you have any interest at all in this essential part of Norway’s history, development and transportation OR if you just want to experience one of the most fantastic museum experiences! A ship in a bottle!! (Well in an amazing glass walled building!). One man’s dream has turned into one of the ‘must sees’ in Norway. Absolute superb presentation & information provision, with wonderfully passionate & helpful staff. What is also amazing about the museum is that 1 in 4 of the island’s population have annual tickets so it has also started to become the community hub, especially with it’s evocative coffee shop & cafe on board the ship itself. And no you can’t possibly do it justice if you only have 45 minutes in port! The last few reviews seem to miss the point. This would be a wonderful sight to see (a huge vessel in an amazing building) for even 5 minutes but you really need 2-3 hours to take in the whole story. And, to correct the last reviewer, every information board is in Norwegian, English AND German. It was an inspired move to encase this beautifully restored vessel in glass & huge thanks must be given to the dreamers & tenacious persisters who have made this possible - and the amazing team of volunteers who still turn up every day to keep everything ship shape. THANK YOU
Mike D — Google review
The museum is unuseable for a visit with a 45-minute stop on a Hurtigruten ship. There should be a signposted tour with distance and progress information that one could follow quickly. Only then would you have a good sense of seeing a lot and of reaching the exit in a defined manner. There's a lot to see on and in the historic ship that I would have liked to examine more closely without having to wonder how to get there and back without ending up in a dead end.
W. L — Google review
Excellent museum and a must do when you are in Norway, even if you are not a ship person. We have sailed on the Hurtigruten new and the old ships, so to be able to go around all of the 1956 built ship was amazing. We even managed to find the cabin in 3rd class where we had our first trip. There is a lot of information available on the ship and part of the steam ship lounges from early 1900s. They also give the story of how they saved the Finnmarken ship and the long process to build the stunning glass building that surrounds it.
Simon R — Google review
Amazing! Went in on a rainy day but definetely worth visiting if you want to learn about one of the Norways most important mean of transportation - the coastal express. Interactive, informative and interesting. Better than the Amundsen museum in Oslo
Frantisek C — Google review
Quick and impressive way to learn about Hurtigruten and coastal transport development. We particularly like cafe on board, and the backstory of how community effort fostered the museum. The furnishings are authentic and well preserved. There is no glass that restrict visitor access and you can enter most rooms and feel the vibes! Go around 1pm and you might spot active hurtigtruten ferries moor on the quay beside the museum. Glad to see such fabulous piece of local history be preserved so well.
Wong B — Google review
This museum is time travel at it's finest. Really takes you back to being a passenger on MS Finnmarken in it's glory days! You get to explore the ships exterior and interior in full detail without much restrictions, as sadly is the case with most other museums of this type. Full access to the most of the ship! Even the resturant in the ship serves the kind of traditional Norwegian food you would expect in 1956. Highly recommend a visit to anyone who would like to experience this Norwegian coastal liner the way it used to be!

Very nice museum. You could see both the outside and inside of the ship. It was very small inside so I would revomend not going if claustrophobic. Good sighs everywhere absolut the board history. You could read in norweigan, english and german.

Dronningruta hike

Mentioned on
1 list
Hiking area
Outdoor Activities
Dronningruta hike, also known as the Queens Route, offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for hikers in Norway. The trail provides stunning views but can be more intense than expected, especially on sunny days. Starting from the main point near a restaurant, hikers can enjoy beautiful scenery along mountainous paths and serene sea trails. The hike takes about 7 hours with food breaks and photo stops, offering breathtaking views of the coast and offshore islands.
Beautiful scenery! From Nyksund to Stø we took mountainous half of the hike and stopped in Stø to refill energy with some fish soup and coffee. From Stø to Nyksund along the sea path with a stopover to enjoy the beach and cold waters of Norwegian Sea! Every minute worthwhile itself!
Eloradan K — Google review
Great hike, but it’s heavier and more intense than expected. We did the Dronningruta hike (Queens Route) in August on a very sunny day and the views are stunning but the climb is a lot harder. We started the hike from the main starting point which is across a restaurant. If there’s no parking spots available, try and park on the side of the road. Do not drive down and park on the paying parking unless its absolutely necessary. (All information is in Norwegian and paying is difficult for foreigners with rental cars) After 10km you will be close to a small campsite with a small cafe and some cool graffiti. After that continue via the beach and prepare for a very steep climb back to the starting point. It’s a very intense hike but worth it and great prep for the Kings route!

Very nice hiking, quite difficult but beautiful scenery

An absolute must if you are in vesterålen. Took us about 7 hours from nyksund to stø, with two food breaks and countless photo stops. Recommend mosquito spray for the first part of the hike.

Arctic Whale Tours - Stø

Whale watching tour agency

Dolphin & Whale Watching
The best tour operator for whale and orca safaris. A comfortable boat and the best captain. Relevant and humorous commentary. An attentive crew and, most importantly, the assurance of seeing marine animals in their natural habitat. A must. I recommend them without reservation.
Seb M — Google review
Truly an unforgettable experience ! Great marine biologists that explain everything, we saw a lot of orcas and mink whales, we were in awe of the amazing encounters. Bonus : you help protect the animals in the area by doing whale safaris! It was worth every cent!
Pauline R — Google review
I was curious to explore Stø and see some whales. One thing to note is that they only do the tour if 20 people have signed up. Furthermore, on the day we were to depart from Stø, the boat would not start and they could not fix it after two hours. Since the weather was amazing, the company was kind enough to rebook us to Andenes for later in the day and we finally had an incredible Orca whale show after nearly six hours of sailing on the fjord under the midnight sun. I would highly recommend this company due to their commitment to making sure that you get to see whales on your safari. I would encourage others to make flexible travel plans and reach out to them by email as you cannot be certain of exactly how the day will unfold. One thing is to be sure, it will be an adventure of a lifetime!!
Tahoe F — Google review
We had a really amazing day yesterday! The weather was great and the brief before we started was very informative. We started off the safari with many minke whales, which was incredible to see. Eventually we saw a big group of orcas, which stayed for a while around our boat. Remi, the guide said there were around 3 pods at the same time which was super cool. Such a great gift from nature to see these incredible animals in the wild, playing and communicating with each other. Also the staff was super friendly and gave a lot of nice info about everything that we saw during our safari. Thanks a lot for the great day!
Lotte H — Google review
Had a really nice experience. Nice to be on the boat for a day. To see Mink whales, dolphins, artic puffins and sea Eagles. We did not see the big whales unfortunately. However, the crew did their absolute best to find some for us. We stayed on the sea for about 9 hours. The crew was enthusiastic and could tell us a lot about the whales! So all with all, did see whales, the crew was nice and good and had a really good experience!
Luuk H — Google review
Everything was perfect from the start, the sun, the crew, the pilot whales around the boat… until the crew decides that it was over after less than 4h, we knew nothing about that, we just end up before 2pm on the deck again. I do not recommend the lack of honesty of this company as it’s written everywhere that you’re supposed to come back around 4-6 pm. No effort also for everyone wondering what’s happening; we just have to « speak to the manager ». (Rémi and Eva were super nice btw)
Katell C — Google review
Scam during summertime. All you get to see are some large dolphin species called pilot whales. The larger whales like spermwhales, orka's or humpbacks, feed only in the arctic sea from end oktober untill march. During the summer they live in the mediterranean area. In the end they tell you that you have seen (pilot) whales so the 'whale guaranty' does not apply. We felt pretty ripped-off as we left the ship after 3-4 hours.
Coert S — Google review
We had an amazing experience. The whales were eating and hunting the herring, amazing to see. Also saw loads of Orcas. Captain was very skilled, it was super windy yesterday. Would definitely recommend this boat, friendly staff and felt like they respected the animals. Thanks again for a lovely day!

Nestled conveniently between the E6 highway and the ferry route to Lofoten Islands, the Knut Hamsun Centre is an essential stop for literary enthusiasts. This museum stands out not only for its tribute to Nobel Prize-winning author Knut Hamsun but also for its striking contemporary architecture that captures the essence of northern Norway's design landscape. Visitors can explore well-curated exhibits detailing Hamsun's life and works, with friendly staff eager to share insights about his literary contributions.
For a place based on a writer, words are important so here are a few- wonderful, inspiring, creative, challenging, conflicting, political, historical, engaging, unmissable, bold. We loved the architectural tour and left with a free poster 😎 Highly recommended.

This is the best museum I’ve ever been to that’s based on a writer. If you haven’t ever read Hamsun, this will make you want to read Hamsun. The staff are also super friendly and incredibly willing to answer any questions you may have.

We had lots of fun at the farm and the owners are caring a lot about their reindeers. Our Guide told us many stories about the saami culture and sang beautiful traditional songs as well as a saami style happy birthday for a friend of me. Thanks for the great experience!
Henning K — Google review
Super lovely and friendly owner. We came there quite early, and she offered for us to wait until the guided tour and feeding of the reindeers started, but we unfortunately couldn't wait as we also had a boat tour booked in Bleik. Reindeers look lovely though and there are two very cute dogs on the property. Don't make the same mistake as us and allow enough time to get the full experience there!!

The bathroom was not it had piss all over the toilet and the ground please fix it + when I orded it took me about 30 minutes to get my food, the walls are too old and service was slow but the rest was nice I recommend to add a fun long slide. 3 ⭐️

Grottebadet is placed in an underground cave, what makes it special and different than other water parks. There are different pools to choose between in Grottebadet. For example the racing pool (which also has a 1, 3 and 5 meter jump), the hot pool, or the normal big pool with a big slide and waves. If you are hungry you can also buy food in the small restaurant which is placed next to the big pool. The prices are a little bit high, but that is normal. It is a great place to visit with your family at any day of the week.

Old pool, mold on the walls. Persistent smell of chlorine. This place needs major repairs. I do not recommend.

It is a unique place for swimming, man made cave like. I just hope they allow people to bring their own food since the cafe is too expensive and kinda unhealthy.

Very nice water park, a good way to both relax and having fun with friends or family! Watchout though, the closing time is 20.00 but they will take you out around 19.30 to do the cleanings. History Museums
Trondenes Historical Center offers a fascinating journey through the region's history, with exhibitions showcasing the timeline of the area. While some displays are only in Norwegian, many are in English. Visitors recommend bringing a translator to fully appreciate the texts. The center features artifacts from medieval times and the Viking Era, including a realistic depiction of a Viking Lodge at the medieval farm. One highlight is the impressive stave church on site. However, there are some drawbacks to consider.
It's an eye-opener for sure seeing the WW-II damage wrought on the city during those times. But the artifacts in the museum provide an insight into the lives of native Norwegians.
Harika K — Google review
Located in the Northern Lofoten town of Harstad , this historical center and the adjacent church and it’s cemetery are a very unique combination of Viking history and the World War II Prisoner of War camp for the Russian soldiers captured by the Nazi Germans occupying Norway . Also added bonus is one of the oldest Viking Churches in Norway .
Scott H — Google review
Very dark inside so it's difficult to read the descriptions. However, outside was very interesting with a Viking lodge and some branch fencing. Only $17 US for seniors so it was OK.
Jennifer E — Google review
Interesting exhibitions showing timeline of history in the region. Some signs etc only in Norwegian but a lot in English. Take a translator with you to read these texts. Some of the monitors were not working which was a pity. Admission price is a bit high (NOK190 for adults - seniors NOK170). The farm is interesting for kids but you do not see too much of great interest except perhaps for the stave church if you have not seen one before.
Martin B — Google review
Quick bus ride from central bus station. The museum has very comprehensive displays of Harstad’s history from 500 through WWII. Good video about the medieval church that was built here and was one of the largest in the area (you may need to ask the staff to start it for you). There's a lot to see in the museum since it covers such a long period; nicely laid out with combination of objects, recreations of scenes, and excellent descriptive signage. Although the section about Harstad's WWII role revealed a little known (at least to most Americans) aspect of Norway's war experience, I learned a lot about the early, early development and then Harstad's role as a trading/fishing center. Very good museum. There’s a recreation of a medieval farm village next to the museum so I wandered around there - a stave church, sod house and rooster enclosure. Then I walked to the medieval church (5 minutes away), which unfortunately closed so I’m glad I watched the movie at the museum. The hours are usually 11 am - 2 pm, so you have to plan it carefully.

Brought my daughter here for an Easter Sunday. Asked if the priest could baptize her with the other children during the mass but apparently it wasn’t appropriate so I don’t know what they are doing here, but it’s not God’s work. It’s a nice museum but it’s run by a bunch of charlatans that do not understand anything about what the church should be. Stay away if you appreciate anything holy! There are plenty of other places to visit.

Rather plain looking Medieval church built since 14th century. I did not see inside , it was closed. There are many headstones in the surrounding cemetery. There is a monument for Russian prisoners of wars died during Nazi occupation. The church is on the water edge and it is serene and beautiful.

War museum
Narvik War Museum is a compelling destination for history enthusiasts, offering insights into the impact of war. The museum delves into the Nazi-Germany's attack on Northern Norway and the subsequent occupation, as well as broader implications of warfare. It features exhibitions focused on the Narvik Campaign during World War II, showcasing authentic artifacts, photographs, and narratives that provide a poignant glimpse into the past. The immersive experience incorporates multimedia elements to transport visitors to that era.
An excellent museum that mixes classic cabinet style exhibits with excellent new audio visual content. Well laid out. Some fantastic artefacts and, while the focus is the Narvik campaign, it has context for the broader Norwegian experience of WW2.
Dex M — Google review
One of many WWII museums in Norway, like always with a local touch; here about the battle over Narvik, massively destroyed. A must for anyone interested in our recent history as it relates to occupation of other countries.
Sebastian R — Google review
Learning more about Norway’s history completely changed my road trip experience through the country. The museum clearly shows Norway’s position during one of the most significant wars in human history. Understanding the past, the battles, and the losses also makes us reflect on the present, the future, and the value of life. If you get the chance, it’s definitely worth setting aside a few hours to dive deeper into this part of Norwegian history. The museum is very complete, with artifacts from the time such as letters, radios, clothing, photos, audio recordings, weapons, and even vehicles. It was an intense and transformative visit that I truly recommend!
Luana M — Google review
We had the most wonderful experience in this poorly advertised Museum. We were lucky enough to have a private after-hours tour with the very knowledgeable Alf. We had no idea that we would be so thoroughly engrossed for about 1 ½ hours. The original items housed here are incredible - weapons, uniforms, battle and invasion information and pieces from daily lives. These are things we had only ever seen in movies. Really nice presentation and a really thoughtful, well-curated Museum. We couldn’t believe how small and inadequate the signage is- this is an amazing Museum and deserves more notice.
Lee — Google review
The museum has a strong focus on the World War II fighting in and around Narvik … to gain control over the harbor (and the steel that was shipped here). Towards the end it asks: How far could you go to for what you believe is right? Difficult question, isn‘t it!? We recommend visiting the museum while in Narvik, in particular if you plan to visit Kiruna.
F V — Google review
While the museum was not that large, it was a informative and enjoyable visit.
Alwin — Google review
Excellent museum. Superbly laid out with engaging exhibits and an extraordinary number of local artifacts from WWII. (Even though I'm not a militaria buff, it really captured my interest. It really brings to life the background to Narvik's WWII story by explaining the military campaigns and the impact on the local people). Recommended.
Phil L — Google review
This is a Museum with a story telling the World War II from Norways perspective. Incredible artefacts from the war, including replicas, regenerated voice of war victims, shows and exhibitions. It's best experienced with reading through the captions and listening to the voiceovers on the 'Euseum' app. A third floor has a more general view on wars and the perspectives on killing other human beings. Must visit!

Nedre Fjellheisstasjon Narvik is a must-visit destination, offering a breathtaking 656m ascent via cable car. Visitors can enjoy the stunning views of Narvik from the top, with the convenience of a restaurant and comfortable seating areas. Families with children will appreciate the playground area. For those who prefer not to take the gondola, there's an option to hike up as well.
We had amazing off-piste day with Oscar. Perfect and untouched powders off the piste with interesting forest runs. The unique night ski with headlights is super fun! Highly recommended.

The location of this ski resort is amazing. I loved spending a day here, however it was very disappointing to learn on arrival that there was a skiing competition that was blocking 3 of the 5 available slopes. They eventually opened them gradually. Also, keep in mind there are 2 lifts closed for the season (see attached photo). I don't think this is very clean on their website.

The gondolas up to the top gives a beautiful view of Narvik and the sea. Each gondola has 10 seat. 👍🚡 The restaurant at the top only serves simple foods and drinks. 👎 Out of 3 automates for buying parking and gondola tour only 1 worked! 🅿️👎

Rental equipment is very low quality and very expensive for that also. Additionally, the person at the rental was extremely rude of us. He did not understand our English and since he did not understand, he made fun of us. If you can't talk English properly, it's you I should make fun of. Sorry, we definitely won't take a vacation here again. Great job.

Polar Park

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Polar Park is a family-friendly zoo and polar park located about two hours away from Tromso. It offers large enclosures where visitors can observe arctic fauna such as wolves, brown bears, lynx, arctic foxes, elk, reindeer, musk-oxen, roe deer and moose. The park also provides guided tours for a more informative experience.
What a great place. We were lucky to be there on a Viking cruise with a guide who was feeding along the way and informing us of the different animals. We got to hear the wolves howl and see most of all the creatures in the natural habitats!!!
Jep R — Google review
The only good thing about this park was that the animals had a lot of space, it was really nice to see. However, it is way overpriced for what you actually got to see. The goats and sheep were right near the entrance and you could even go into the goat enclosure if you wanted. The enclosures are set up in a way that makes it very hard to see the animals. If the price was reduced it wouldn’t have been as bad, but any child would have been exceedingly disappointed with the lack of animals. There was only 1 moose (that we could see), couldn’t see the wolves at all, couldn’t see the reindeer, saw the bears, couldn’t see the Lynx, saw the deer, couldn’t see the Musk Ox.
Molly K — Google review
We had the most incredible experience here! Even with the large, natural enclosures, we saw EVERY animal except for the wolverine. I went in with low expectations because natural habitat zoos give the animals plenty of places to get away and hide from the visitors, but that wasn't the case during our visit. We loved it.
Aimee E — Google review
We visited the Polar park today in the awful rain but still it was a great place to visit just remember your waterproofs of it's raining as it's obvious out in the open. We arrived and we where greeted At the entrance by a very friendly lady who told us all about the park and some advice on how best to spend our time. We spent over two hours walking around the park enjoying seeing the animals though due to the poor weather we couldn't see the Lynx or Wolverine but it's one of those things you have to expect unless you arrive as they are feeding the animals in the morning. We managed to see all the other animals and it was nice to see they had big enclosures in a very natural environment. After getting drenched in the rain we headed back to the cafe and had lunch which was very nice and even tried a reindeer burger which was beautiful. There was also a well stocked gift shop there too if you fancied a trinket for your visit. Overall a really interesting place to go and see some of Norway's wildlife and learn more about them.
Tom B — Google review
Great zoo, must do the tour with a guide. That makes it great, otherwise you would not see the animals at all. As they just want some food, and they can do some tricks as well.
Vincent M — Google review
Park is really nice, great maintained, with a cozy small dining space and souvenir shop at the entrance. On the day of my visit was quite a rain, so I suggest to check up on weather forecast beforehand 😌 If you decide to have a quick bite, reindeer hamburger was 10/10.
Jovanna M — Google review
Make sure you go on the guided tour, our guide was able to get all the animals except the lynx to come out. Otherwise you can spend hours staring through the trees trying to see any animals
Sandy D — Google review
Amazing park, you might not see all the animals unless you go with the feeding at 16.30. but in my opinion that is a good thing, the animals can hide and seek rest. They are not on display like a attraction and the animal wellfair seems really really good❤️ i got to see all the animals❤️

Even my 5 year old wouldn’t stop doing the kid section by herself. Hotel was nice 3 bedrooms. 2 bunk bed rooms and a sauna. Full kitchen!! Stephan was great too. We saw the northern lights every night! I highly recommend. Not crowed at all.

Polaria aquarium is a unique and striking arctic aquarium located in Tromso, Norway. Housed in a modern building designed to resemble ice floes, the aquarium offers an interactive and educational experience focused on Arctic wildlife. Visitors can enjoy exhibits showcasing the impact of climate change on glaciers and Arctic wildlife. With its kid-friendly approach, Polaria is a must-visit attraction for families, offering a panoramic cinema and the opportunity to observe seals.
Loved my time at the Polaria aquarium in Tromso where the seals were definitely the highlight. The aquarium itself aims to be more educational than "entertaining", especially where the seals are concerned and they definitely managed to achieve this. Initially skeptical, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed myself, and how well the seals are taken care of and respected. Definitely recommend it to both children and adults.
Nidhi M — Google review
Small aquarium but very nice exhibits. Some unique species since it focuses on arctic. It does have areas under construction so it is expanding. It has a very nice seal exhibit with tanks and a walk thru tunnel. 3 seal training sessions as well.
Thomas S — Google review
Such a fun place to visit! There are informational videos throughout the day, interactive exhibits and the seal feedings and trainings are open to watch. I would say the entry fee is slightly overpriced, but we still had a wonderful experience.

Little aquarium in Tromso, Norway. Its a fantastic place to bring family and group of friends. A great place to see the seal up close. We where there during winter, and the scenario outside the aquarium was just as great. Theres lots of activities for kids to learn about the oceanic life
Sandee T — Google review
Great little place. Watched one of the seal feeding and spent ages watching them swim around. The individual exhibits are really cool too as is the viewing tunnel. Not a big place but we'll worth a visit. Really enjoyed it and they have some very good souvenirs too.
Simon H — Google review
Nice place. Plenty of information accessible, staff is humble and you can shop. Only downside is there internal fixes going on in the building which kid of ruins the vibe and variety of species is limited. If you want to see seals eat, visit at 12:30 pm😄
Srilekha R — Google review
We absolutely loved our visit to Polaria! It’s such a fascinating and family-friendly place — both educational and fun. The exhibitions, the aquarium, and especially the adorable seals kept us all entertained. Our little boy was so happy that he said, “This feels like heaven!” ❤️ Definitely a must-visit when you’re in Tromsø.

Visiting Polaria was pretty fun. It's a small marine attraction, with some tanks with sealife, and the main attraction being the seal training sessions. Nicely accessible for wheelchairs. Construction work going on at the moment so some dirty and cold areas.

Churches & Cathedrals
Tromsø Cathedral, also known as Tromso Domkirke, is a stunning Protestant place of worship located in the heart of Tromsø. Built in 1861 by the renowned architect Christian Heinrich Grosch, it stands out as one of Norway's largest wooden churches and is considered the northernmost Protestant cathedral in the world. The Gothic Revival style and its unique construction using primarily wood make it a remarkable landmark.
Centuries old church with antique furniture, especially the pipe organ, makes a magnificent landmark. Free entry. Ticket booking required if you like to attend the prayer session on Sundays. It's worth to pay to listen the cathedral music of the magnificent pipe organ. It lies nearby the harbour for cruise ships and in the heart of the city. Several souvenir shops around there.

What a wonderful moment to visit this century wood church in Tromso. I went on Monday but it was closed. But I got to see its night view. Luckily I stayed nearby in town. So I went again on Tuesday. When stepped in to the church, I felt amazed of the building and atmosphere. Peaceful and calm. There was a lady playing old piano. Such beautiful piece and real experience. Thanks for keeping such priceless church.

A sacred symbol of the Arctic, this cathedral is Norway's largest wooden church in the world. Built in 1861 by architect Christian Heinrich Grosch, it stands out for its Gothic Revival wooden architecture. It is located in the heart of the city, close to the main street, Storgata. I stayed here for three nights, passing almost every time because of its central location. It is beautiful both day and night, and is peaceful, alive, and calming in itself.

Lovely Cathedral in Tromso city central Norway. This Cathedral is among one of the oldest and most iconic in Tromso, Norway. We visited Tromso during the winter, so we were able to observe this Cathedral both during the day and at night. The color and feel to the Cathedral changes as the sun gone down, yet all we're very beautiful. Theres a few walking tour that can book for the local guide, its highly recommended

A beautiful and atmospheric cathedral right in the heart of Tromsø. The unique wooden architecture and the tall spire make it stand out immediately. Inside it’s calm, bright, and very cozy — a great place to take a short break and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. I really liked the design, the acoustics, and the overall vibe of the place. If you’re nearby, definitely step inside — even a few minutes here leave a really pleasant impression.

Don’t ask the lady with dark wavy hair and glasses for help, it’s too much for her to be polite. Am sure the other staff are lovely. The staff at the tourist office by the ferry terminal couldn’t have been more helpful.

Next to the cruise ship port that is very easy to identify, located in a building looks like a shopping mall from outside, there are couple clothing stores and a cafe with seating area! The visitor centre are located in the middle of the building, you need to take a mumble from a machine and wait for your turn! The visitor center also has limited amount of items you can purchase! Buses routes also clearly displayed! It is very nice and warm and helpful place!

Just like any tourist information centre, this is the place to be if you need any info. The staff here are very friendly and helpful, they can help you to book any tour if needed. This visitor centre is very modern, they have some touch screens console for you to search for the info you needed. The souvenirs and gifts sold here are very good quality, worth to buy. However, you can only find booklets/info about the Troms region here, not other regions.

Friendly and helpful personnel. They could speak English, Norwegian, German, Japanese and most likely much more. Through the information desk, a huge variety of activities can be booked. For example: dog sledding or Northern lights chase. Ice climbing etc. The shop features awesome tourist gifts. Including post cards and stamps.

The Polar Museum, located in a charming wooden building by the harbor in Tromsø, is part of the Arctic University Museum of Norway. It showcases scientific, cultural, and archaeological exhibits related to the area's history and heritage. The museum delves into the city's origins as a hub for Arctic hunters and explorers, featuring captivating displays on exploration, hunting, and wildlife in Svalbard.
It is really nice when you get there. You get to know the way of life in the North Pole and the polar history. Many representative items placed therein make it more realistic. The ticket is about 10€ per person. There are some souvenirs that you may also buy (prices are typical). A hard copy guide is given , free of charge, available in many languages.

A great little museum to learn about all things Artic. We were in Tromso Norway for holiday and we stumbled into this little museum. We were given an English booklet to explain about each room and the history behind. As someone from the tropical its really fascinating to learn about the Artic way of life, the people, the technician, Marine life and much more. A great little museum to check out while in town

What an unforgettable experience when I visited it on 26 March 2025! The Polar Museum in Tromsø absolutely blew me away. It's incredibly well maintained, and every corner is packed with fascinating stories from the Arctic explorers and trappers who braved the extremes. I loved how all the information was available in multiple languages—it made everything so accessible and inclusive. The exhibits are a perfect mix of engaging history, incredible taxidermy, and authentic artifacts that truly transport you back in time. I could almost feel the chill of the polar expeditions just walking through! And speaking of chill—the temperature inside is so well controlled, making the whole visit comfortable, the temperature outside was just -2 degrees. Touching pieces of history and learning about the raw, untamed Arctic life left me deeply moved. A must-visit if you're in Tromsø. You'll leave with a whole new appreciation for the spirit of exploration!

I've learned so much here! At the reception I received an information booklet with lots of engaging and interesting stories, including the North Pole expedition of the Fram ship and the adventures of Nansen. The pieces showed in the museum were a good visual aid for all the amazing stories.

Located in the heart of Tromsø, The Polar Museum (Polarmuseet) offers visitors a captivating journey into Norway’s Arctic past. Housed in a charming 19th-century warehouse by the harbor, this museum focuses on the lives of polar explorers, trappers, and whalers who ventured into some of the world’s harshest environments. It's not just a museum—it's a portal into the gritty, courageous world of Arctic survival and discovery. Inside, you’ll find detailed exhibits on legendary Norwegian explorers like Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen, who played key roles in conquering the North and South Poles. Through authentic artifacts, old photographs, and personal journals, the museum brings to life the extreme challenges these men faced, from bitter cold to months of isolation. There’s also a strong focus on hunting culture, especially the lives of seal hunters and trappers who once spent years living in Arctic wilderness. While this aspect can be controversial, the museum presents it with historical context, allowing visitors to reflect on both the resilience and the impact of human activity in the polar regions. Although it’s not large, The Polar Museum is rich in storytelling and atmosphere. The creaky wooden floors and dim lighting make it feel like stepping into a time capsule.
Phạm T — Google review
It’s a very interesting museum. Walking through the rooms filled with different exhibits, I genuinely felt like I was stepping through Tromsø's and Norway’s history, and I learned a lot about Arctic life! The only downside was the paper guides - they were a bit too long to read at times. I understand it might be a budget choice, but audio headsets or more consistent English labels on the exhibits would make the experience even better.

Tromsø offers a variety of fjord tours that allow visitors to experience the stunning surrounding landscape by boat. These include options such as a fjord cruise with onboard sauna and jacuzzi, an Arctic sailing safari, a luxurious catamaran trip to witness the Midnight Sun in summer, and another catamaran trip for viewing the Northern Lights in winter. These tours provide unique opportunities to explore the natural beauty of Tromsø and its fjords while enjoying different experiences depending on the season.
I did the fjord cruise today. Fred, Carlo and Freda were fantastic. They work as an awesome team, very friendly, very informative and had us all laughing on many occasions. This was a great tour and I really enjoyed it. The facilities onboard were good. The bar was well stocked and pastries available looked good too. The customer service was great and the presentation of the history of Tromso was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this tour and with this team. Thank you for a great day Fred, Carlo and Freda.

I bought tickets for a sea tour in search of whales (Fjord Tours) started with strange things a week in advance. A few days later I found out that in December there is no sun, so I wrote a letter to the tour operator - is it really dark in December and how can you see whales in such darkness! No one replied to my letter. On the day of the tour, the 19 December 2024, from the morning breakfast at the hotel on time delayed, in a hurry had to gather. Got there in time to the meeting point Kaigata St. 6, there was already a lively line at the boat, waiting to board. Here came to the queue man (an employee of the tour company) and said that everyone went to board another boat of the same type. Although there was a boat in the place in a wound up state inside which the service personnel carried out preparatory work to prepare for departure. As a result, all about 15-20 people went to a different boarding place. The controllers at the boarding entrance checked the electronic tickets by QR code. Some of the tour participants, including me, were delayed in boarding because they had to do online registration. That is, you had to enter your personal data on the site of the tour operator. After entering, I chose a good seat for two on the lower deck by the window. But I asked my partner at the same time to see if there were better seats on the second floor than on the lower deck. The partner called upstairs. At the top it turned out that the place was chosen also by the window but for four people sitting next to each other (two against two at the table). Meanwhile the number of tour participants was increasing. In the end the following picture appeared: - at the top half of the participants consisted of Italians, most of whom were quite mature people, over fifty years old. They were noisier and talked louder than the rest of the attendees (non Italians). The tour operator tried to give information over the loudspeaker, but the Italians would not calm down and kept talking and laughing at full volume. Some of them turned on their cell phones on speaker and watched video clips. - A couple of Italians about fifty years old came over to us. Before we could sit down, they started kissing and hugging as if they hadn't seen each other for a long time. And it was obvious that they were playing around. But besides being chatty, they began to drink alcohol, after which there was a terrible odor. Anyone who doesn't drink understands me. The whole tour, on the second floor of the boat, most of the time there were fogged windows, stank of alcohol and cigarette stench. Italians (as I realized) were not interested in what was going on overboard and what was the purpose of the voyage. The main thing is talking, cell phones and drinking alcohol and of course walking back and forth to the toilets, slamming doors and spreading the stench on the top floor. Concluding this message/opinion about the trip I want to add the following: - I don't understand why the first boat was packed with passengers and the second boat was sent half empty? - Why the registration of these passengers tour operator does not conduct at the time of purchase of tickets, and makes you do it again a day before sailing, when it generally flies out of your head. But at the same time the tour operator informs that it is your fault that you did not register your data after the purchase, at the specified time. But I'm sorry, it's not my problem, it's yours. Because I was ready to enter all the data at the time of ticket purchase, so why should I do twice the work and waste my time again?! - Passengers walking every second just because they don't want to sit still even when the boat is rocking on the waves, - noisy toilet doors closing noisily, - Italians talking loudly, - watching videos on their cell phones at a loud volume, - disrespecting others, Anyone who does not like noisy and drinking communities, this tour will not be a pleasant experience with such a community. I regretted buying tickets for this tour at all.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Arctic Cathedral, a striking church in Tromso, Norway, is an architectural marvel with its pyramid shape and glass facade. Designed by Jan Inge Hovigand and inspired by the region's fiskeheller and lavvu, it stands out as a landmark. The spiral shape of the cathedral reflects the aurora borealis, while its titanium exterior mirrors the dancing lights in the sky.
The Arctic Cathedral is one of Tromsø's most iconic landmarks. It's located on the eastern side of the city, just across the Tromsøbrua Bridge in the Tromsdalen district. The cathedral resembles an iceberg or a Sami (Arctic indigenous) tent. The structure, made of white concrete and glass, contrasts with the sky and snow-capped mountains, symbolizing the beauty of the Arctic. Situated on a hillside with no tall buildings blocking the view, the Arctic Cathedral is a popular spot for viewing the Northern Lights during winter. The views are stunning, offering panoramic views of the city.

Beautiful place! If you opt for piblic transport you can direct get down at the nearest bus-stop, Very accessible place. And if you really want to visit by walking, I would suggest, stay there till the sunset, enjoy beautiful colors and head back. Its just 2-2.5 kms from harbor area.
Srilekha R — Google review
An inspiring piece of Nordic architecture with a relatively easy walk over the road bridge from the main part of Tromsø. The cathedral is slightly expensive for admission, and as we went a bit later in the day to see the stained glass lit up we didn't feel we would have had enough time inside for the cost. Other than that, it's a highly recommended place to visit if you are interested in Scandinavian design.
Caleb W — Google review
A modern structure sitting atop a hill, walkable from downtown area of Tromso. It is across the main bridge, about half an hour on foot or, by local bus. Since I'm not familiar with the bus route and I love walking, it suits me fine to cross the bridge. Make sure you walk on the path for pedestrians, not one for bicyclists. The wind is stronger across the bridge so bundle up. The cathedral was closed on the day I was in town, but it's nice to see the outside. A tall, erect structure in a giant triangle. There is not much outside to see, no garden, park or anything interesting so I didn't stay around long. Behind it is the route to the cable cars, interesting to take. $60 usd for the ticket if you like an aerial view of the town. The church itself is worth a walk to but unless it is open, visit nearby attractions such as the cable cars.

I visited the Arctic Cathedral on a sunny day, and it was absolutely beautiful. The architecture is so unique, and the light made it shine even more against the mountains and water. The view from there was stunning, definitely one of my favorite spots in Tromsø.

If I could give 6 stars I would! An absolutely incredible day from the pick up from town in a comfortable van by Aaron right to the end. It was a stunning hour drive to the farm and with some really quick and clear instruction by Anna we were out on the dogs in no time. After a long and beautiful run up and down hills we returned to the house for lunch and to get to know our hosts. They were kind and friendly and taught us all about the dogs and life as a musher. We loved that it was a small group of only 8 and out in the mountains meant our tour went ahead on a stunning blue sky day whilst many larger tours were cancelled. Do not hesitate to book with Northern Light Dog Adventures! Thank you Thomas, Aaron and Anna!

Completely exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our trip to Tromso! The whole service; from the explanations, conversation, extra clothing, teas and coffees after the sledding was absolutely perfect! I really enjoyed how you could ride yourself and it wasn’t just on flat ground, you were going up and down hills as well. Such an adventure, I will carry this memory with me for the rest of my life! Everyone in the family is so lovely also.

We had such a great time on this tour. It's a small norwegean family business tucked away in the mountains. So no tourist trap. Even though it snowed a lot we could drive the sled for one hour. What an amazing feeling being out there with these lovely dogs and driving the sled by yourself. Uphill you need to help them a bit so you need to have a little bit of fitness. The mountains around, just stunning. I can recommend it to anyone!!! It's an experience you'll never forget in your life.

Fantastic experience, authentic and beautiful location. Tomas and team keep it simple and make it memorable. The dogs are the stars of the show! Don’t forget to take a lunch and wear comfortable clothing - but good quality oversuits are provided. This is a small family business and well worth supporting - they’re the best!

Fantastic! Exceeded all expectations. The team was great and we learned a lot about the sport. Everything was well prepared and ready to go before we arrived. They had additional clothes and provided warm drinks for after the sledding. The dogs are super friendly and well cared for. Would definitely return to do this again!

Northern Light Dog Adventure does an exceptionally well dogsledding experience. These guys take pride in providing a small group experience and when we went it was just my wife and I which was great because they were able to personalize the experience to suite us. We took the sleds through all types of different, beautiful and challenging terrain and even took us to create new trails! The dogs seem very well taken care of too. If you enjoy the "real" experience, small groups and don't enjoy the large tourist traps this is the place for you.
