I must have travelled the freeway below this massive fort controlling the narrow passage between the steep and dangerous mountain sides more than a hundred times over the past 30 years without reflecting on what you might find inside. This time I took a day trip from home in Switzerland with the aim to discover this surprisingly interesting place steeped in history lasting over 800 years. It's now owned and administered by the region of Aosta and houses 6 museums, a large museum shop, a cozy 11 room hotel and restaurant as well as a café. If you buy a simple entrance ticket you will access two exhibitions of your choice, if you want to see all six museums, the price is about double the ordinary entrance fee. There is ample parking around the castle, the near-most being paying. Access is either via an ingenious series of funiculars or by foot on a winding road. Avoid visiting on a busy day not to spend your time waiting to access the funicular system. I came on a Friday afternoon mid May 2025 and was surrounded by 15 year olds trying to learn Italian history, not the most serene situation. You do need a full day to fully appreciate the place so I will come back to spend a night here before touring the premises.

So much to see here! There are 5? main buildings, each housing different museums and (temporary, rotating) art exhibits. Costs €12 to visit 2 of any things of your choice or €24 to visit everything. But you can visit all the exterior fort for free! This is definitely worth it if you want a quick look and get a good view from the top of the Fort. If you want to visit the museums, you'll need a few hours to spare! Our 2 choices were both in the Carlo Alberto building (at the top). We did the Museum of the Alps which has SO MUCH to see, and quite the diversity of history and information. This took us 2 hours and we didnt look too closely at half of it. Could definitely take 2-4 hours depending on your interests. Absolutely 1 of the best ways to spend a solid chunk of your day here. 2nd, we did the prisons downstairs in the same building. This was cool but much quicker (like 30 mins). It was a toss up between the prison and the Ferdinando building at the bottom.. unsure what all that offers or the time it takes to visit. In total we spent about 3 hours here, and could have spent much longer if we got the full package. Lots of history here and offers a neat view of the valley. I would recommend it, but again, you'll need time if you want to visit any museums. I personally didnt care to visit any of the art exhibitions. From what I've gathered, they kind of have nothing to do with the Fort itself, so didnt seem worth any of my 2 choices.

Have you even been to Valle d’Aosta if you haven’t visited Forte di Bard? The structure is just impressive in its size and location! Inside is pretty bare, but the museums and exhibits are super interesting.

The castle is beautiful, no doubt there. However, we wanted to take a quick walk within the walls, and there is unfortunately no ticket allowing you to just stroll around. You have to purchase a ticket for 12e which allows you to enter 2 out of 6 available exhibitions/ “museums”. Maybe it would not be that frustrating if a couple in front of us wasnt allowed to enter for free by stating “we only came for a walk” in italian. We checked the japanese exhibition which was rather mediocre, not much to learn from it. We would appreciate some story behind and more descriptions behind the pictures. The other exhibitions was the prisons which was more interesting - you can see the real prison rooms and how the castle was evolving over time.

19th-century fortress, part of the fortifications of the Aosta Valley. The fortress is well maintained and houses a rich permanent exhibition (about forts and fortresses throughout history), as well as interesting temporary exhibitions. Entrance tickets: - €12 for visiting the fortress itself and two exhibitions - €24 for visiting five exhibitions Both tickets include access to the lifts. The ticket price is absolutely worth it.

Dirty, the pools are not clean enough, you can see green mold. The water in one interior pool was not clean and it was smelly. The saunas and the jacuzzi are ok. I could not see a bar.

Nice thermal pools both indoor and outdoor. Several different saunas. One huge one overlooking the valley with spectacular views. Hot tubs with equally stunning views. The place is a bit worn and could use some renovation, but it is overall nice and clean.

We spent a full day in Therme de Saint Vincent. The entrance ticket includes the wardrobe, slippers, lunch and acces to all pools and saunas. There are 3 pools indoor - at middle level. Outside there are 2 pools - one with a spectacular view at the Aosta's Valley, and another one in the back - a little bit warmer, surrouded by trees, next to the sauna. At the upper level there are 3 jacuzzi, for 4 persons each, a very large sauna, and a very spatious relaxing room, with the same wonderful view to the Valley. There are, also, many relaxing rooms, and You can have a tastefull TEA as you wish, included. Thankyou TERME DE SAINT VINCENT for this experince, even expensive, worth all the money.

Wonderful place to refresh yourself. Sauna and hot pools. Gorgeous views. Really nice folks are helpful. Very clean and neat. Great to walk up from Saint Vincent.

Smaller therm, very clean and nice. Staff was so friendly and helpful. The terrace is the best part. My only thing was the water was not really hot, but that may just be a personal preference. Otherwise, everything was fantastic!

A very basic spa/Terme with worn out design. Their view is great though. Most of their saunas are more or less similar with each other, so no proper variety between them. The price you pay is almost the same (54€ with a rental towel) on the weekends as on QC Terme luxury spa's nearby, so choose QC Terme instead for more upsclale ecperience.

Good enough to spend here 1 day (4 hours minimum) after several days of skiing. If you want to eat - there is only a predefined set of small bites and water. I didn’t really like it but it’s good enough if you are hungry. It costs 7 euro per person.

This is my 3rd trip to ski Cervinia. First time I actually stayed 7 days in town. I had a group of 8 people and we all agreed we would definitely go back. The town was easy to get around. Had plenty to do before and after skiing. The people were very friendly. The food was fantastic. The hotel was fantastic! The skiing and weather was second to none. Definitely plan on returning. A+ all the way around...

one of the best ski resorts in Europe. Thanks to the glacier and the high altitude - above 3500m - there will always be snow and skiing conditions. And the incredible beauty of the landscapes.

Perfect ski resort. Very recomemded especialy for beginners. The town itself is small and very nice, but not a real apre ski atmosphere. I advise to find a place to stay close to the Cretaz lift.

The best landscape ever: the Matterhorn is superbe, Les Grand Murailles are impressive, on the Plateau Rosa glacier you feel like touching the sky.

Cervino Ski Paradise is truly one of my favorite ski resorts in the world. The slopes are incredibly well-maintained, the views of the mountains are breathtaking, and there’s a perfect mix of runs for all levels. The lifts are fast and efficient, and the whole area has a wonderful alpine charm that makes every day on the snow a joy. The only thing I wish could be improved is accessibility for younger skiers and snowboarders: it would be amazing if prices were a bit more affordable for those under 30, making it easier for more people to experience this incredible place. Still, despite that, Cervino remains an unforgettable destination for any snow season lover.

Nice ski resort with great views especially the Matterhorn. Was very warm beginning of April so the snow became very wet and heavy early afternoon but this was to be expected for the time of year. Great skiing for beginners and intermediates. Some flat and uphill sections would benefit from a magic carpet or rope pull

Good number of runs across all levels and the ability to ski over at Zermatt as well is definitely a plus. Just be mindful of the time and not miss the last lift up to be back over at the Italian side as it can be a costly affair to miss the last lift back! View at the top is amazing!

Very well restored castle in western Italy. Visit is by your only which seems to leave every half hour. Out guide did not speak English but tried nevertheless very hard to accommodate us, which was not an issue because there are good explanation signs at each stop. A very interesting historical site dating back to the 1200's.

Well preserved castle in a beautiful area in north italy (Aosta). Visiting is by guided tour only. The tour is in Italian, and you can rent audio translation aids. The tour takes about 40-45 minutes and walks through most main chambers of the castle. The art is well preserved. Recommended stop on your way to the Italian Alps.

A classic pentagonal fortress, with towers and walls, long abandoned and used by the locals as a warehouse until its restoration, commissioned by an architect on behalf of the State. The large fireplace in the center of the castle is beautifully designed taking into account the cold and the need to keep the interior warm. The visit lasts about an hour, guided only, with numerous insights into the history of the castle and small peculiarities of the past, such as the almost sitting position during the night's rest so as not to be mistaken for a deceased person or the small faces engraved on the towers to keep evil spirits away. Dogs allowed in a carrier. It is recommended to purchase one of the many tourist cards of the Aosta Valley to be able to visit all the sites and castles of the region.

Stunning from the outside. Pretty basic and repetitive on the inside. Rooms are not decorated, but display a loooot of wooden chests. Only visitable with Italian guide, every half hour. English audiotour available, which provides similar info as the panels in the rooms. You need to give them your id to get a audiotour.

Elegant castle from the 12th century and now owned and administered by the province of Aosta. It has been completely restored from being close to a ruin, including the many indoor and outside paintings depicting religious and noble figures. You cannot visit the castle on your own and have to wait till a guide becomes available which precludes too many people inside the premises at one time. There is a lot to be learnt about how nobles lived and traveled during past centuries including why three legged chairs were used to avoid tipping over on the uneven floor surfaces. It made me remember growing up on the tree legged chair "the ant" designed by the famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen in the 1950-s. So nothing is really new under the sun...

Interesting history. You must go inside only with a tour, no self guided tours. Amazing artwork frescoes.

A unique experience, the castle is located on a hill with breathtaking views. Inside, it still has items from its time.

Very beautiful waterfall in a magical Alpine scenery. The entire Gran Paradiso National Park is amazing, and so is this piece. Even in September the waterfall was incredible, with a huge flow of water. We hiked for an hour to the Biolet Waterfall, not an easy route because of a steep climb but we managed. Plenty of parking at the beginning. Overall, very recommended.

Nice short hike. From the parking lot, take the left side trail that climbe up the hill to the last waterfall. From there, cross the bridge and go down to see the other waterfalls 9n your way back to the car.

Great hike. Did the large loop to lake Loie, difficult climb so make sure you are fit enough to do this. The lake itself was cute, but the real deal is the views. Saw a marmot on some rocks on the side of the trail. Near the end of the hike appears a huge field with plenty of flowers (even in September!)

Nice easy trek to see waterfalls. You can park at Lillaz if you want half an hour walk or start the trek in Cogne, walk to Lillaz and then continue to waterfalls

Very good quality starters (cold cuts and cheeses) typical from Italy and Spain. We chose Pasta (very Well cooked) accompanied with an artisanal beer. Nice desserts and friendly staff. We loved it. Didn’t give 5 starts because the restaurant itself is not “wow”, just a simple cozy bottega. But food-wise definitely worth it!!

Had a wonderful lunch with the family today. I definitely recommend the cured meats and cheeses platters, as well as the tagliatelle with culatello and parmesan! But generally speaking we were satisfied with the food and wine. The location is cosy, especially the 'underground' area. Service is nice, and you can purchase most of the products you have enjoyed after eating (which we definitely have done!) - we will come back!

The food was amazing, we tried the cheese and ham plate, that was really good. Beyond that, we tasted the tagliatelle and the polenta that were excellent. But, unfortunately, our experienced was affected by one staff that didn’t treat us very welcoming when we tried to get a table in the restaurant.

Delicious lunch here, a cute little 7 seat restaurant with wonderful local dishes and an amazingly inexpensive wines by the glass list. I only wish we had more of an appetite so we could have tried some of the meats and cheeses they had in their shop, but the tagliolini with butter, parm and white truffles was perfect, and the polenta in the La Carbonade was one of the best I’ve had!

A little pricey and they won't serve you tap water : you have to buy an expensive bottle. Other than that, great food and nice staff!

A stunning French/Italian mountain pass with views to die for on the Italian side. The huge reservoir at the top is crystal clear and fed by several cascading mountain streams. Apart from the wonderful natural scenery there are also some marvellous buildings, old and new, including the wooden church.

Very beautiful road! Altitude 2085 m. The term "Mont Cenis" could be derived from mont des cendres ("mountain of ashes"). According to tradition, following a forest fire, a great quantity of ashes accumulated on the ground, thus the name. The path of ashes was found during the building work of the route.

Great museum with beautiful grounds and park. We visited the museum for the special exhibit, from Renoir to Van Gogh. The exhibit was very interesting with many unique paintings. The regular exhibits of antique cars was very educational. The collection of photos of Giannadda definitely worth visiting.

The Tintin exhibition was incredible! The cars were a welcome surprise The employees are very friendly and a student ticket only costs 12 chf. Lovely museum shop. The coffee shop was gorgeoooouuus though I didnt have time for it

Unique venue, worth a visit. The TinTin collection was interesting. The vintage car collection was ok. Temporary exhibit of Armand Hammer collection probably presented not the best works of Vincent Van Gogh.

It is a luxurious collection of old cars and paintings. Unfortunately, all of the exhibitions and annotations are only in French.

Very nice museum, small but cute. There is an exhibition that changes time to time, and two areas dedicated to the main characters of the museum. There is also one area with the cars of the beginning of 20th century. There are 2 cafeterias, one indoor, very cute (like a step back in time), and one outside in the garden, where it is really pleasant to sit and enjoy the park and the weather. The park is also interesting, with pieces of art of various artists placed here and there. Suggested.

The museum is not big, but has such an eclectic variety of collections that's its a very entertaining way to pass an hour - no matter what you're interested in. There's a potted collection of roman artifacts, early cars, contemporary sculpture and decorative arts. The Cafe in the sculpture garden is a great place for a leisurely aperitif or on a sunny day. The history of Roman Martigny is well explained in French and German, but most other signage is in French only.

I took a friend there to see the vintage car collection and we were happy with the visit except for the very rude staff member called Martine. I was telling my friend about how Anker used red in most of his paintings as told during my previous guided tour. Martine then said very loudly about me being too close to the painting which is impossible because of the barrier. They can easily get their surveillance cameras to see that I was no where near paintings. She then said very loudly in French to another customer that 'some people don't understand anything ' in French, referring to me. Now that I can no longer find my previous review also about her rudeness, I guess she remembers me. My friend's first thought was her being racist, but I sincerely hope not. It was such a shame that how a rude staff member can totally spoil an almost perfect experience. Honestly, she should not be working there.

The location and pools were great. Most pools had luke warm water with the exception of the pool at the top, which was hot. The dry sauna was hot and delightful. The inside water rooms were fun. My problem was with the staff. The young lady with brown hair and glasses who was in charge of seating for the aperitif on August 1 at 1900 was very rude. She came to our table and instead of making polite conversation with us, she told us story after story about how our home country was full of stupid people, we don't know geography, our food is bad, and we all go around waving guns. Although she has never been to our home country, she was sure to tell us everything wrong with it. It was uncomfortable and insulting.

Amazing experience! From the very beginning staff were nice and helpful, the service was great throughout. The location is absolutely perfect - you swim in the hot water underneath the snowy Mont Blanc. The views and scenery is gorgeous. The place’s facilities are great, the have plenty of hot baths (covered and outside) so it is never too crowded, and they have saunas, relaxing area, massages and lunch. The food at lunch was excellent as well. You receive everything you need - a towel, slippers and a robe, and even a change of robe if you have lunch. The shower area is very well equipped and well designed. Absolutely recommended!

Not the best experience at this spa, we went there at 6, and given a happy hour at 6:45. Which we completely missed because there is only a single clock hidden in one of the buildings. Also we where not told that there are no food options on the premises, so we went hungry for our time there. Many people brought their phones in to take pictures, videos and face time, this made us uncomfortable. I would not recommend people going to this spa for a relaxing time, the view is wonderful, but you don't need to be in this spa to see it. Also there where no employee's to speak to about issues.

The facilities are great. The Lady with classes working in the Bistro was very rude. We were not informed that the Bistro was only available up until a certain time. We missed the slot and were Rudely expelled

Absolutely stunning spa getaway in the mountains. Went here while on a rest day in Coumayeur hiking along the Tour du Mont Blanc, and it was the highlight of my rest. Felt refreshed to get back on the trail the next day.

The views are beautiful. However, Was extremely disappointed here. (Only used spa and had lunch and aperitif) Have been to various QC TERME and this has to be the worst for service. The hospitality staff were rude and I wont go back to this particular qc. That being said every other QC has everything.

The terme was nice and relaxing, but there were no signs to help people find their way, especially to the upstairs rooms. First-timers might miss the stairs. Better guidance is needed, and people with lone hair should be asked to tie their hair more properly.

Ski trip in mid february. Here a detailed review: Arrival: I stayed in Val Claret, the road up was clear and only on some parts covered with ice/snow. If there was recent snowfall, caution is advised. I liked that there is also a ski run going through the town of Val. Ski runs: Now the ski area Tignes-Val d'Isère is pretty big and you have lots of variation. About 75-80% of all runs are above the treeline. There are a lot of kids areas (in every town), lots beginner areas (around the Borsat chairlift and Solaise). For experts there are plenty of ski runs: the stade olympice/face de bellewarde (can be very icy), the foret, la Sache, Chicherit, Aiguille Percée. The Tunnel (near Leissieres) was sadly closed due to lack of snow) You have some pretty long ski runs as well: skiing all the way down from Grande Motte to Val Claret, from Aiguille Percée to Les Brevières, from Cugnai to Laisinant, from Borsat chairlift to Val d'Isère or Daille and from Col de l'Iseran to Fornet. My favorite runs were: blue Génépy & black Descente on Grande Motte, blue Grattalu, blue Anemone, black La Sache (upper section, the lower section was very icy), black La Foret and of course the famous offpiste run "Vallée Perdue". This last run is pretty adventurous and shouldnt be missed (you should be an advanced skier though). Snow Conditions: Due to the higher elevation it was very snow secure, though there were still some spots where the wind blow off the snow. The weather was blue sky and sun for 6 days, so ski runs sadly tend to become very icy, especially steeper runs under 2000m elevation. Lift infrastructure: The ski area is excellent interconnected, though compared to other european ski areas, you wont find any of those hyper modern bubble chair lifts. There are still some painfully slow and rough chair lifts, like Col des Ves, Grand Huit and Cema. Crowding: I learned to NEVER again come to the french alps on saturday mid february. The roads were full of traffic jams (Lyon-Albertville-Moutiers) and the drive took 3h longer than expected. Mostly british and dutch tourists. Tignes-Val d'Isère was the most crowded I've ever experienced in any ski area and I've been before in ski resorts in switzerland and austria at the same holiday period. There were lines up to 15min at some chairlifts. On the ski runs, especially the main runs down to the valley it was more like an obstacle course to avoid colliding with others. Then there were the ski schools, there were just too many of them. Even in the Vallée Perdue, I encountered a ski school. During lunch time it calmed a bit down and there was a window for a less crowded ski run. Staff: The staff at the lifts and desks were all very nice and helpful. When buying a ski pass via the Val d'Isère app, the machine wont get you your pass in Tignes, even though the ski area is connected, one of the guys easily helped me out and was really nice. The staff at the lifts were all cool except the guy at the bottom of Merles chairlift (at 3pm last tuesday), he was rudely yelling at me, stressing, even though there was no reason and there was no line of people behind. I signaled him to chill down and he became menacing. Pricing: The prices were in the middle to upper level. The ski pass for 5 days is around 355€. A little takeaway burger can be around 18€, a 1l beer is 21€ (!!). Its certainly not a place if you want to eat/drink on a budget. Scenery: The landscape is amazing, you can see Mont Blanc. Also check out the Aiguille Percée arch and the Vallee Perdue canyon (if you are a good skier). To even more enjoy the landscape you can even do a tandem ULM flight. I think though some people might prefer a bit more forested hills, if the weather would be foggy I bet its easily a whiteout in the ski area. *Verdict*: ++ variety of runs & area size + beginner & expert offer + nice offer of activities outside of skiing (ULM flight, Bungee ski jump, sledding etc.) - pricey ski area (especially concerning food drinks and hotels) -- can be severely crowded during school breaks

I Love Tignes, I Stay Here Twice For A Seasonal Work In Winter, I Was Taken Away On How Kind And Lovely The Local Was. I Was Taken Away On How Beautiful The Area Is And I Use To Love Walking Around The Le Lac After Work Before Season Started. Tignes Is A Very Picturesque Place And It A Photographer Dream Location. I Was Lucky Enough To Be Goving Opportunity To Come In October And Catch The Last End Of Autumn Which Was Beautiful. I Feel Tignes Will Alway Hold A Place In My Heart.

It’s a shame that ski passes are sold with the Carré Neige insurance, which turns out to be useless when you actually need it. There’s no point in offering a service that borders on a scam. The ski resort itself, as always, is excellent.

Wonderful place at an altitude of 2100 m. Lots of sports activities including summer skiing. Mentally I struggle a bit with the fact that every hotel wants parking for a not so small fee. But that's just France. ⛰️🇫🇷

A wonderful ski station with fantastic views and an enormous number of slopes for all levels. Also there are plenty of activities to do apart from skiing and a good infrastructure. Tignes application is very useful. I highly recommend Tignes as a ski resort !

The aquatic centre is right next to the Tignes Lake. Coming with local buses you can get on-off the bus at Tignespace few minutes walk or at Toviere bus stop. The town centre few minutes walking distance. During ski season many skiers in the open space in front the centre. The reception ladies speak English, are helpful. Payment by cash or card. The place is clean and tidy, wifi available. The swimming pool is nice offering relaxatio for swimmers, beginers or those who want to do laps. The changing and locker areas are warm and clean with showers. The gym isn't bad but don't expect a big room. In the morning until noon isn't crowded. Cardio and strengh training. The orices are a little high and combos can be done like swim+gym, spa+swim etc. The reception is big.

The water was freezing and impossible to enjoy. Our kids normally want to swim for hours and we only lasted about 15 minutes I literally had goosebumps and was shivering in the water. It was in no way relaxing nor enjoyable and a far cry from the amazing Japanese onsens you can visit after skiing there. Very disappointed we will not return.

This review is for the Gym: It's a well equipped gym with a good variety of equipment. It has 3 squat racks on a rig and a selection of 10s, 20s and some fractionals. The quantity of plates is fine if only two of the racks are in use, but could do with a larger selection if all three racks are in use. There used to be some 15s but they disappeared when an extra rack was added for some reason. The barbells are in ok condition, but one of them does not spin well so makes olympic lifting uncomfortable if you're stuck with that barbell. As for dumbbells, fortunately there is a decent selection again, but proportionally there is not really enough space, nor benches, to make full use of the selection when the gym is busy. Machines and ergs wise, again a good variety. Could do with a ski erg or another rower, especially as the 3 rowers are very close to each and so having all three in use is not really feasible. Plenty of spin bikes for the classes they run too. I would give the gym 4 stars, but I cannot. The single worst thing about the gym is that it only opens at 9am and given this is the only gym in Tignes, it makes it incredibly frustrating to not be able to get your workout done before your day, be it work, skiing or relaxing. This issue is exacerbated by the fact that naturally the gym gets incredibly busy in the afternoon/evening and by opening at 9am, it makes the rest of the day busier as those who train in the morning are forced to work around the 9am opening and increase busyness later in the day.

The front desk staff are blunt/unhelpful, it leaves a poor ambiance to the centre. Swimming pool is good and plenty for kids but the facilities are poor considering the high cost, such as hair driers not working. It's the second time I have found staff to be unhelpful and when speaking to other locals and seasionairs it is well known.

The gym was very small and basic for the price. The staff were mostly interested in checking multiple times if we had a towel and clean shoes which was a bit odd and not very welcoming. Once we were allowed inside the changing room wasn't very clean and most of the locker doors were missing. Pool looks nice but we were a bit put off going back after the gym experience.

Terrible service, pricy, no towels, hot tubs, not even slightly hot. You can't go into the wellness area if it's full. Waste of time and money. Dis recommendation. Very disappointed, especially after long day of skiing when all you want is to relax.

A great place to spend during a stormy day. The jacuzzi weren't hot enough. The saunas were really good.

A breathtaking journey to the highest peak in the Alps on the Italian-French border Starting from the Italian city Courmayeur, a charming town 1,300 meters above sea level, I began my ascent via the Skyway Monte Bianco. I purchased a round-trip ticket for €63.5 at the main station. Punta Helbronner (3,467 m): The final destination was magical. The temperature dropped to around 1.8°C with a light wind, making it refreshingly crisp. From here, a 92-meter below a tunnel leads to a ski station and an open-air restaurant. I made my way to the top terrace—what a view! Standing above the clouds with 360° views of the Alps was an indescribably beautiful and humbling experience. Breathtaking panoramic views of the highest mountain in Europe. Even though I was there at a pretty cloudy day, view was just one of its kind. I was disappointed that the triple cable car was open only one way to France, and nobody could return (because of different regulations).

Wonderful day trip in summer up this mountain via cable car. Don't miss the Refugio and the area covered in snow beside the Refugio.

Stunning views of mountain peaks, an entire glass wall dedicated to local gemstones alongside a view of Mont Blanc and a lovely little cafe where you can sip quality coffee while you admire the peaks! Even though during my visit there were quite a few clouds, the various platforms and views from this height were spectacular. It does get cold at the top observation deck (since you are standing around) so I would recommend an ultralight down! To get around the observation decks (external) you do need to do some stairs, but the building (internal) itself with the cafe and viewing areas is fully accessible! From this point, you could pay for the additional trip on the Mont Blanc Panoramic cable car that takes you over to Aiguille du Midi! I would also recommend going early- so you get fewer clouds and crowds!

Just out of this world experience. The views are absolutely stunning. The facilities are amazing considering the height. Multiple decks for panoramic views. Do keep in mind that the oxygen level will be low and some might feel a bit dizzy. Once in a life time experience,

Your amazing ride starts in the center of chamonix, there you will take the most thrilling cable car ride if you life. With the best views, grass that turns u to snow, and trees that turn into massive cliffs. Aguille du midi is a must for everyone. The views at the top are truly out of this world and make you seem so small. Would recommend to everyone visiting chamonix. Give out of five stars

Wow!!! Just stunning. Exceptional views 360. Will do again. Review will not do any justice. You just have to go. Nice cafe as well. Stairs from elevator to cafe was a bit of a drag in the thin air. Wife’s lips turned purple from lack of oxygen. Be aware of the signs.

The cable bus from the Chamonix city with a change over in between takes you to the peak of Aiguille du Midi. This peak is exactly in the border of France and Italy. A 20 minutes journey of ten each takes you to the peak. To see the mont blanc, you have to take a pass like temporary visa to the italian side and from the peak to which a lift is taking you, you can see the mont blanc. There is also a glass cage with dead drop bottom. The view from the top is magnificient. It takes you to the view of entire iced surroundings. The mont blanc is the highest peak of Alps. More famous for limited edition pen. They are allowing a total of 2 and half hours to see and come back. On a sunny day, the views are beautiful. The climate is sometimes minus in the peak

Amazing experience. They give you a paper to indicate you have a time to get off the mountain to avoid rushes. Even though it was for 1.5 hours as the recommended time, we spent close to 4 hours (with about 1.5 hours for queuing for the glass dome alone). This was an unforgettable experience and highly recommended.

The ski resort is very large and you can have fun regardless of your skiing level. There are also many hiking trails that allow for wonderful snowshoe hikes. The natural surroundings and views are fantastic.

Arguably one of the ugliest ski resorts in the French alps, however, this is in stark contrast to the excellent ski area, fast lifts and varied terrain. If you are an avid skier or snowboarder this is one of if not the best resort in the alps to visit.

This was my first time skiing in the Alps. I highly recommend this resort to all skiers ⛷️ and snowboarders. You will love the slopes, people, and food.

Amazing ski resort! Several ski slopes and many possibilities for other activities. The bobsleigh descent is unforgettable.

Beautiful well designed apartments for skiers and walkers (depending on the season). Beautiful views of the mountains and lifts (depending on which side you're on I suppose). The apartments are compact but with 2 twin bedrooms, 2 bunks and a double sofa bed, with ease you could fit 8 people in ours. Galley style kitchen is best suited to one person cooking at a time so pre-plan to share the cooking duties if possible. Good extractor fan and each apartment is well appointed with plates and cutlery for 16 (2 meals a day) and a dishwasher as well as breakfast bowls and a host of utensils. We were only short a grater and a potato masher (apparently not French essentials). There a multiple lifts to various parts of the buildings as well as a lot of basement bootrooms/lockers to store your boots and skis and keep your apartment dry. The complex has a code entry to the pool, when you want access - daytime only (closes at 7) and no access on Saturday (change over day) with a new code each week. A 5 minute walk to the local Spar shop makes this a very convenient location with a Restaurant next door to the Spar as well as one opposite the entrance to Lagranges. The Ski and board hire shop is spitting distant from the complex check-in with convenient ski racks located around to stash your skis whilst you buy passes or snacks. The ski-pass system is very flexible at the resort with options for beginners being circa €35 a day, half day options, full resort passes, multi-resort passes and a pedestrian access pass to access the top of glacier via bubble lift for only €8! Superb. The resort is at 1800m so well above the snowline with easy access up to 3000m for fresher snow more often. Snowed again just as we left so if you're looking right now it's perfect for a last minute get away (9/01/23) enjoy! Back again for New Year 2024 - snowed every day so far and the trails are well groomed. Swimming Pool has been renovated as well as the wooden features across the resort.

Great ski resort especially if your using a motorhome parked right next to the main run back to La Plagne. Electric at the end of every row (which didnt trip once) and water is located at a hut at the entrance of site (short slippery walk). The while of thus network is mostly made up of about 70% blues 25% Reds and 5%blacks although many of the blues are more red like. Some great places to eat around the area but it is pricey.. €9-11 a pint !!! Food is around normally UK prices. The roads leading up the mountain to Villages was always mint ( the French know how todo it) the only time we had to put chains on was at the start of the aire as its not as well maintained as the main roads. I'd defo go back to this site and la plagne.

Loved the experience, and the Prestige section was a special treat. But they should give some thought to rearranging the layout a bit as you certainly can't use much of the deluxe chair features since you're totally constrained by the folks across from you in the four-Plex sections. Do yourself a favor and pick a seat from the single row sections - even if that means splitting up your party. Also, could really use some cupholders and places to stash your phones/cameras besides your lap or behind the front and back seats.

The GoldenPass Belle Époque ride was an absolute highlight of our trip. The vintage-style carriages, elegant interiors, and large windows created a charming and nostalgic atmosphere from the moment we boarded. The scenic journey was stunning throughout, offering beautiful views of lakes, mountains, and picturesque Swiss villages. Everything about the ride felt comfortable and memorable. If there’s one thing that could make the experience even better, it would be having a restaurant or dining carriage on board. Enjoying a proper meal while taking in the breathtaking scenery would elevate the journey to another level. Overall, a lovely and highly recommended experience for anyone travelling through Switzerland!

Really nice and smooth ride. The beauty of the sights you see really does feel like the time flies. I highly recommend reseving a seat, and even though all views are breathtaking, may be the right side of the train was of my preference. We traveled from Interlaken to Montreux, approximately 3,5 hours, and it felt like no other train ride before. Definitely a must.

I did the entire Golden Pass train journey from Interlaken ost to Montreaux. While the train with huge windows is great, the best panoramic views are only between Gstaad and Montreaux. This panoramic train is included in Swiss Travel Pass. Since I did my journey on a weekday during spring season in April, I did not reserve my seat and was able to get a very good seat. However, I strongly recommend seat booking if traveling during peak summer season.

We arrived from Milan Sept 6, 2025 just in time for the 3 days Freddie Mercury birthday celebration. I enjoyed the celebration right there in Lake Leman so happy to celebrate 🥳 his birthday and experience where he once stood. The museum dedicated to Queen is just 200 meters from his statue.

Enjoyed the walk around Lake Geneva, admiring the many statues, small or lifesize. The iconic one of Freddie Mercury was like icing on a cake. However I do wish someone would clean up the statue once in a while, there is just too much junk hanging on him and around him as gifts from well meaning fans.

When in Rome...er, Montreux. Worth a visit for a photo or two if you've got the time. And there's a gelateria just a block away! Hang out on/near the lake right there at the coolest public bench circle ever made, then take a stroll along the lake - preferably near sunset.

As a lifetime fan of Freddie, I took a 4 hour detour, just to go and pay respect to the greatest singer and entertainer if all time. He has a beautiful spot with a great view of the lake. I'm sure he would have loved it.

The great representation of a Titan of music. A little hard to get a great photo as they were doing some construction around the area. At one point, he even had a do not cross tape wrapped around 1 foot as they made a fence to do some work on the viewing platform for the lake. I did manage to get one or two good shots. If you can get a picture of him from the side with the mountains and the lake on a nice day it is very breathtaking in a view. I’m sure he appreciated when he was in town to record music.

Statue of Freddie Mercury (Real name: Farrukh Bulsara) was a British singer and songwriter who achieved global fame as the lead vocalist and pianist of the rock band Queen. This statue is a tribute to him and serves as a memory of the days of his life he spent in Montreaux, Switzerland. The location is also stunning alongside Montreaux promenade. Tip: Don't forget to visit his recording studio in Montreaux. Search on google maps: Queen Studio Experience. Entry is free.

The online capacity viewer was a little out of date and we had to wait to get in. Once in, lockers require either a 1 or 2 euro coin which is returned. The changing room is mixed gender with individual booths that are double sided, so you are fighting against people getting out of the pool to use one as well as other people wanting to get in. The pool itself is just a pool with a few jacuzzi like areas, a lazy river and a half pipe style slide. There is also a kiddy area, although I didn't use this. My over arching feeling was that it didn't measure up to its own hype. The pool's one redeeming feature is that they do not enforce the ridiculous French pool rule about men only being allowed to wear the skimpiest of swimsuits!

A great place to spend a few hours. It was warm and clean in the changing rooms with lots of locker space and the complex wasn’t too busy for the first couple of hours of our visit and got busier as the afternoon went on. The water temp inside on a cold day in the main pool was slightly chilly so it’s worth having a towel but a perfect temp in the outside jacuzzi and splash park sections. We drove up from Saint Gervais as day guests on a cold wet day during the Easter holidays and it was the ideal rainy day activity for about 3 hours as we drove up out of the rain into snow and winter wonderland. The half pipe is really fun and the lazy river is great. If there was a big slide or two as well this place would be absolutely perfect. My kids are 8 & 10 and enjoyed trying to crack the climbing wall. When you could get space in the outside jacuzzi that was also a highlight as it began to snow. I would say it’s perfectly suited for toddlers and small kids and a fun activity for a family outing with older kids for an afternoon.

It’s colder than you would like it to be. There are no towels as well, and no private showers, so if you hve something planned for after, allow time to go home first. For 12 euros, walk in (they don’t take bookings) and unlimited time inside, it’s fair, the slide is good fun, there’s a long wait but it’s an extra I wasn’t expecting for. I probably won’t be back, manly cause the temperature is too cold to be enjoyable. It said 31° but I doubt (just saw other reviews complaining about the same)

Great experience just could be a tad warmer! Kids didn't mind the water temp just the adults!

A nice break from skiing, this pool is perfect for going when the weather is too bad to ski. Some lazy river routes, pools to swim and fun for the kids. There's even an outside jacuzzi. Can be quite busy, the only downside was children throwing snow at each other and splashing in the outside pool with no life guard or parents to tell them to stop - this was quite off-putting so I'm only rating it 4*. Changing rooms ok, a bit small cubicle sizes. Overall ok, it's the only water park pool in the area so I can't be picky.

Great value in the summer when quiet. Almost limitless goes on the u bend slide. Clean, warm and with good water jets.

What an amazing experience if you are feeling stiff and need some tlc pop in the pool and the jet hose help the tiered legs out a treat and the water halfpipe is good fun for all ages highly recommend an afternoon chilling in there

Avoriaz is, without a doubt, the best ski resort we’ve ever been to — and that’s saying a lot after more than 30 years of skiing! Everything is designed for maximum comfort, with ski-in/ski-out access from almost everywhere. The resort is fully pedestrian, which makes getting around incredibly easy and safe. The staff is genuinely kind and helpful, and to our surprise, we haven’t had to queue at all for the chairlifts — even during busy hours. And the snow? Absolutely amazing, even at the very end of the season. We’ll definitely be coming back — and recommending Avoriaz to everyone we know!

This beautiful ski resort is very active in the summer with plenty for the family to stay active. Whether mountain biking, hiking giant games of checkers, chess and tennis plus trampoline. The aquatic center is an excellent family swim . The beautiful French Alps surrounding the town

Great skiing resort. We went over new year so was a bit busy but also great New Years Eve celebrations and midnight fireworks were amazing. All staff we talked to ( in hotel, restaurants, shops etc ) were lovely and friendly. Would recommend for 1st time skiers , families or someone who likes ski fun parks too

Love Avoriaz. It’s like home - a nice friendly place. Resort is great, slopes are fantastic. Its can get overcrowded at vacation time and some places are overpriced but overall its a great place for a skiing holiday. No cars in the resort, only horse-drawn carriages which gives it a special atmosphere, along with the wood-covered buildings which blend into the countryside.

What a lovely ski resort in French Alps. Beautiful place with no cars alowed. By winter, there is a taxi from centre, horse pulled sleigh. They give you a blanket to cover legs, so you could not catch a cold 🙃 I will come back in summer, to see again this paradise!

Lovely and wintery with snow all around in this high altitude snow sure resort. Cars aren't allowed in the town so it's safe to walk around too. A bit artificial in feel though compared with nearby more traditional resorts, partly due to its newness, so this may make it feel less homely and welcoming in the summer. Wonderful in the winter though. Great skiing too.

Truly memorable place, great people (one or two not so good!) totally ski in/ ski out place scenery to die for and something for everyone from the beginners to the more experienced skiers. Bars and restaurants great apart from a certain Italian! Booking our return trip!

Nice ride up to just above the Bionnasay Glacier. The website sucks bigtime but don't let that withhold you from a beautiful day in the mountainbike.

Took this trip to explore more of the Mont Blanc range and wasn't disappointed. Incredible journey up the side of the mountains, sharing the trip with mountaineers who were off to the summit. Good choice of walks from the top - clothing for cooler weather & good footwear essential.

Beautiful views along the road

We were here in early July and it was a nice walk along the lake to this museum perched on a small hill in the middle of a lovely park. Please visit the grounds even if you do not step inside the museum. Nice views over the lake and pleasant outdoor Olympic related art and information sprinkled through the outdoor grounds and all of this is free to access. Inside it is a well curated place with lots of information for an Olympics fan. We did it all in about 2 hours. The gift shop is where you buy the entrance tickets. Pro tip: if you do have a ticket and are there during the daytime, you do NOT need a lunch reservation to simply have a drink on their glorious outdoor terrace at the restaurant on the top floor. We just asked the host if we could sit outside for a drink and he enthusiastically said of course! What views!!! Drinks were not cheap but not more expensive than any other restaurant. So if you are curious and didn’t make a lunch reservation, please do stop by and see if you can snag a seat outside. The staff were kind and helpful.

It is obviously a must visit museum if you are in the Olympic capital Lausanne. Everything is very well presented. I particularly love the video clips introducing every Olympic Games through the years, as every clip begins with important events of that year. I’d very much love to finish them all but my schedule doesn’t allow me to. All the collections are inspiring and hold collective memories of people from all over the world, some of which remind me of the days when I was little and watched on TV the Olympic Games with my father. The -1 floor is fun. View of the lake from the terrace of the restaurant is stunning. Free access for Swiss pass holders.

Very nice. We were desperately looking for a clean bathroom that’s also free lol. It’s nice to see the poster of the Beijing Olympic in 2008. Unfortunately we only found the poster card but not many other souvenirs options such as fridge magnet for the Beijing Olympic.

Free admission with the Lausanne city pass. Cool exhibition showcasing the history of the Olympics from ancient times, all the way through to 2026. Highlights include a section about art and design of the posters and iconography of the Olympics, as well as a well rounded gift shop with good items at all price ranges

Olympics museum is a must visit place for all Olympic fans. The location is stunning on the shores of lake Geneva in Lausanne. Infrastructure of museum is excellent with free locker rooms for storage. You study entire history of Olympics from its origin in Greece to revival of modern Olympics. There are archives of summer and winter Olympic games, mascots and models of all Olympic torches, Olympic uniforms etc. The museum used excellent multimedia to present everything. There are videos on projector screen which display opening ceremonies of all Olympic seasons. However, Olympics museum has lots of scope for expansion considering its huge space. You can have interactive games like FIFA museum in Zurich. A Hall of Fame can also be made featuring most celebrated Olympians of all times like Michael Phelps. A special section for upcoming Olympics can also be done. Hope to see these updates with passing time. Entry to Olympics museum is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

This museum is located facing Lausanne (Geneva)Lake with a nice park in front and is very well connected through road and metro rail network. It is a fantastic audio visual experience indoor as well out door and must see for tourists. Plan to spend at least 2 hours here and you will cherish it.

We spent there more than 2 hours. Interactive, with plenty of interesting information, surrounded by a nice park, with a great view and even access to a beach. If you are in Lausanne, must visit. Tickets are 20 CHF per person, no needed to buy in advance.

Impressive cathedral with wonderful views of the town. A bit of a climb up steps if one takes the wrong route, but in any case well worth a visit. Large, quiet, peaceful, stained glass, statues, carvings, small and unobtrusive gift shop. Not overly commercial, and free to enter, as it should be but in some churches is not. Great place to spend some leisure time here.. quite a lot of tiny things to do here especially for kids and family.. you can just sit around and soak in the beauty of lake Geneve... don't miss this..

Clean and very convenient. Easy access to the port and parks. Pricing is cumulative in 20-30 minute increments, so you end up paying 4CHF for 40 minutes.

None of the electric charging machines are operational. None working.

Parking was fine. Charging station couldn't be used with two different cards.

Really bad experience. Bad organised, had to wait a lot till we found a place and to go out from the parking ,it took an hour, because it id really bad organised. Do not recommend it at all. The worst experience with a car park ever for my 43 years .

Port D'Ouchy itself is a magnificent place. We went on a Sunday-- so clean, serene, the views of Geneva Lake and nearby France are spectacular. There is also a park and a nice view of Chateau D'Ouchy from behind. Good for picnics.

Pretty big underground parking lot near lake which should be your first destination during exploring Lausanne. I personally like LED lights which indicates free or occupied parking space. This parking isn't free, but this is common thing in Switzerland.

Very small area, a fantastic little church and a good view. A short visit on the road. Few shops, all closed but possibility of getting lunch or ice for the kids.

Medieval City on top of Albertville. Very nice place to have a beautiful view on the city. Wonderful to wonder around and discover shops signals and modern art pieces. Worth to visit one time in life!

A pretty little medieval place, with parking lots, shops, museum, parcs, a church, narrow and paved streets, and a nice view of the mountains, far away from the intense traffic of Albertville. 2-3 hours visit.

Conflans in November is absolutely beautiful. The leaves have changed color and the mountaintops have snow on them. There aren't very many other visitors during this time of year, which allowed us to explore the city quite freely. Arguably, the best view of Albertville is from the garden at the top of Conflans. Follow the stone path up the hill and it will turn into a dirt path as it goes under the arch in the wall. An old place, small and cozy, like a jewel...a good place to relax and to buy unique hand made souvenirs (paintings and so many beautiful things)!

This is the tourism office where you can request for any information and help that you need. Yvoire is a lovely place and was really a super fun and well spent day. I will highly recommend a visit here. Very beautiful with the cobblestone roads, stone and wood houses with beautiful flowers everywhere. Totally fantastic, a place out of a medieval fairytale!

Beautiful Yvoire, a must see village in France

A city of medieval where wood, stone and flowers meet. You can be lost in the history while you wander in its tiny historical streets. I would like to take pictures of its every single building, gardens and roads. I liked it too much. I highly recommend you to visit this beautiful place.

Yvoire is one of the most beautiful place I've seen around the Leman Lake. The car-free zone is wonderful, with lots of historical buildings.

Fantastic, very touristy nowadays but there are still some hidden gems that are quiet but you’ll need a car to find them (one was through an industrial estate so very hidden). Restaurants are great and people very friendly

This would have been beautiful in the right weather. It was just our luck that we arrived in the height of Summer, at the end of a heatwave and were met with heavy rain and thunderstorms o the water didn't have its famous greenish-blue hue. It is a lovely natural beauty surrounded by mountains.

I was just remembering how much we loved it there last year. My son and I rented bikes and went all around the lake. We also got a pedal boat and took a swim. Saw some young people doing a rope swing jump and did that too. Fabulous.

I took a day trip from Lyon, a great place, I'm sorry I only stayed one day, it's definitely worth 2-3 days! A place not to be missed if you're in the area!

It is a MUST to go, partying, water scakating, swimming and lots of boat cruises around the great lake surrounded by magnificent mountains. 30 min away and your up amongst snowy mountains as early as September.

Dinner with team after congres day. 2 had filets de perche this fish filets were baked with a tartare sauce nothing to have a waw feeling. 1 penne ciocarna ( see picture) also no real wow effect missong of spices and 1 spaghetti fruits de mer seems was ok. white swiss wine could be better. Service 2 people avetage. Thats why give a 3

Really good pizza, I recommend the « jet d’eau pizza » Only bad fact is that the crust was too thin.

Staff were really friendly and accommodating despite a language barrier. I was even given a free salad! Food was some of the best me and my friends have ever had and is well priced. The restaurant atmosphere was incredible as well. We all agreed we would absolutely eat here again 👍

I am travelling for work. Great food and even better people. Seems like a family owned business. I had the pugliese pizza and was amazing. But hey!! Be careful with the spicy oil they offer 🥵very hot

The food was delicious and the waiters really helpful to translate to English for us. They even had a English menu. The place was warm and the pizza oven in the heart of the restaurant. It felt like an authentic Italian family business.

Impressive cathedral in the old town area with lots of period buildings around it. On a bit of a raised area but an easy walk up. Quiet, peaceful, can sit for as long as one likes. Free to enter, as it should be, but is not in some places. Different parts obviously built/added/repaired/rebuilt at different times, which is always interesting. Well worth a visit.

Undoubtedly, this is a majestic cathedral in the heart of Geneva, with stunning Gothic architecture and a historic stone façade. The church is very well preserved, and from its current state, you can almost imagine the grandeur it must have had 1,000 years ago. Inside, the serene atmosphere, detailed sculptures, and beautiful architectural features make it a remarkable place to explore. A must-visit for anyone interested in history or architecture.

Visiting St. Pierre Cathedral in Geneva was truly memorable. One of the highlights for me was climbing the 160 steps to the top of the tower. The stairwell is narrow and may be a little intimidating for some, but the effort is completely worth it. Once at the top, you’re rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Geneva and the surrounding area—perfect for photography enthusiasts. The cathedral also has a small shop where you can browse a selection of cards and postcards as a memento of your visit. Inside and out, the cathedral offers plenty of opportunities for taking beautiful photos, from its impressive architecture to the breathtaking vistas from the tower. Despite the slightly nerve-wracking climb, it’s an experience I’d highly recommend.

This cathedral is a highlight located in the center of Geneva's old town. The top offers a great view over the city and the lake. I recommend combining a visit with a walk to the beautiful nearby square "Place-Du-Bourg-de-Four" (my favourite place in old town). Take a break there for a snack and a drink. Enjoy!

I always try to visit at least one church during my travels, though sometimes it doesn’t work out. I’m so glad I made it to this cathedral—it was actually one of the reasons I wanted to visit Geneva in the first place. I’d heard about the 157-step spiral staircase, and let’s just say I realized how out of shape I was while climbing it! But I made it, and it was absolutely worth it. Such a beautiful piece of history to experience. The fee to go up is currently at 7chp.

Excellent 360° views of the city, lake & mountains. The stairs were in a very good condition compared to other church towers in Europe. The entrance price was included in our tourist city pass so it's a very much worthwhile visit.

A great place to enjoy nature! It’s comfortable even on very hot days thanks to the plenty of shade and the cool breeze from the river. The trail is easy and suitable for all levels..

This was a fun walk, wear sensible foot wear - mostly so you don't loose your treasured flip flop into the torrent below! It's not expensive and it's pretty spectacular. Not challenging (unless you're not keen on high suspended walk ways over gorges and rapids!). Can be quite busy and parts get congested and require you wait for your turn to pass.

Absolutely stunning natural gorge open for 156 years. The footbridge was nicely build since than but with upgrades of course. For non adventurous peraon like me, it's scary to walk on the footbridge but definitely worth going here. Recommend to wear anti-slip shoes and bring less things with you. Ticket is at €6

Absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth the, in my opinion, small entry fee (€6,-). A nice walk through a steep and interestingly shaped gorge, where a narrow deck/bridge, suspended from the side of the wall, takes you along and above the flowing waters at the bottom of the crevices. For most of the route, the walkway is halfway between the top and bottom of the gorge, which gives a impressive view of the worn out stone and swirling river below. Near the end of the route, the walls open up and you get a view from just above the gorge. Looking down, there are many, massive blocks of stone that have sheared of the very walls you're standing on and have tumbled down into the waters. All in all a very impressive sight.

A truly magical place. I returned after two years and it didn't disappoint at all. Ps. look for the magic of the place, faces and creatures can hide in every stone ;)

We had an amazing day there! We stayed in Annecy for a few days, without a car, and decided to go there by public transportation. It took around 1 hour by bus and we had to walk 20min (not an easy path, it was a steep descent which we had to go up after). The experience in Gorges du Fier worth the work to get there, the place is beautiful and it was not full of people, which made our pictures look so nice! There’s a small shop, bar and toilets before entering the park. Our card didn’t work to buy tickets so we paid with cash, keep this in mind because there’s no ATM there. I definitely recommend this visit! It’s totally possible with public transportation and walk but it’s easier by car! ☺️
