We had a fabulous day on Culatra. After getting the train from Faro, we caught the local ferry. It took about 30mins to sail over. Once you dock you walk through the quaint little town following signs for the beach, its easy walking on the boardwalk. After about 1km you reach the Atlantic ocean, the beach is spectacular with gorgeous sand & blue sea. We opted to walk along the beach to Farol. Took about 40mins, bit harder walking on sand but lovely to paddle. The beach at Farol is fine, perhaps not quite as nice as further along but still good. Spent few hours here, had lunch at the Maramais then got 4pm ferry back. A perfect day ⛱️🍻😎

Beautiful, authentic island with not very much tourism - and that in combination with the fishermen and their families living there is what makes it so unique and beautiful. Take a walk, enjoy really fresh fish, the long besutiful beaches and respect the families living there. Enjoy a calm small island.

🤩 it takes 20-25 minutes to get there walking in the trail from the boat to the beach. But, it is worth it. Awesome beach, water, there is a bathroom and a bar for drinks

Great experience. Traditional fisherman industry island with typical villages, casas and restaurants from snacks to top Portuguese couisine. Prices for all pockets. 2 broadwalks. One to the main Atlantic beach where at the end you will find a beach bar or cross the lagoon when the tide is out and walk on the north side to the island's tip where a small deep chanel seperates Culatra from Ilha Armona. An Ultra natural and protected area. Some of the tour boats take day trippers there for idilac paddling and canoeing. (See Captain Steve Tours). Remember Keep to paths not dunes. On this side....There is a lonely tree near a small broadwalk. Planted by a tiny seed and tendered regularly by a German who settled on the island and built a house on the lagoon from waste and flotsam. Died 2022 .. his casa is still there but sadly vandalised and much of his loved art work that decorated his casa gone. From the Atlantic beach you can walk to the village Farol where the lighthouse is and catch the ferry back to Olhao.

The beach here is off the track and worth the trek. Getting onto the island took an hour by ferry from Olhao. Once you make the seemingly unending 20 min walk, you step onto a beautiful beach. Clear, cold waters, lots of waves. Has one beach kiosk and could do with an extra toilet.

Beautiful white sand island only accessible by ferry from Olhão. The beaches on the Atlantic side are impressive but the water is cold and waves can get rough but where it's more sheltered its wonderful. Dont miss out on exploring the lagoons and interior of the island, it's fun with the kids. Then grab a beer in one of the bars while waiting for the ferry back to Olhão.

Such a nice location. Visited for an afternoon and was lovely. Its slightly cooler than inland Faro which was nice. Not a cloud in the sky and the sea is crystal clear. Only costs €5 to get over on a 45 min boat ride. Would definitely recommend!

The Barreta island, or Ihla Deserta, is a must see if you are in Faro. We visited in December, but the weather was still great for sunbathing and a swim. You can hike around the island, and stop any time for a swim or to enjoy the view. We got there using the ferry, which was 10€ with return for a 45' journey each way. We found that the side of the island where the ferry left us had better places to swim, as the water was calm, while it was pretty wavy & windy on the other side of the island. As the island is deserted, there is only one restaurant there, which can be pricey if you want to dine in, but we used their take away service and the sandwiches were reasonably priced and tasty.

Wonderful, peaceful island. We were there off season. So not many people there a we could enjoy it more. I think, during the season it's a wonderful place for the lazy type of vacation. Just enjoy the sun on the beach

Lovely isolated beach to visit if you are looking to relax somewhere with few people. You can take the ferry from Faro that costs 5 euros and it takes around 45 mins to arrive or there is a faster option with shuttle that takes 15 minutes and it costs 10 euros. There is one restaurant at the island but it expensive so I would recommend to bring food if you don’t want to spend more money on food. There is an option to rent an umbrella with two chairs that costs 20 euros for the whole day. I think if you are planning to go 3-4 hours is enough to spend on the island! Beautiful views, the sand is so soft but the water cold!

Nice , peacefull island. On the ocean side there are plenty of huge shells. It's wotth to take the walking path around

The boat tours are a must-do, providing an intimate look at the diverse ecosystems and the unique fishing communities on islands like Armona and Culatra. The guides are knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience educational as well as enjoyable. While the commitment to conservation and animal welfare is evident, and it’s heartening to see such dedication to preserving this slice of paradise, some areas could benefit from better signage and maintenance. Also, the availability of amenities like restrooms and cafes is limited, which is something to keep in mind when planning your visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed this park. Very inexpensive 3.20 euros, gorgeous views, a visitor center, the flowers were simply splendid & seeing the crabs dive into their holes was funny & fascinating. Would love to go back some day.

Awesome place! Did we see chameleons? Unfortunately not, but we did see storks, two kinds of grey birds, thousands of crabs and a beautiful park. Really worth it! Recommend a visit. The recommended hike is only 2.5km so its nice if you're looking for a short activity

Pretty for a walk. I did a wildlife boat tour they were friendly but didn’t see much of anything. But it was relaxing. I would skip the boat tours.

A beautiful park that's home to a huge variety of wildlife and has some of the best sunsets I've ever seen. Depending on the time of year the tide will usually be in during the morning, then out until the evening, so be careful not to get caught out walking in the marshes. Otherwise there are plenty of permanent paths so that you can walk around the little salt lakes and admire the wildlife. Look out for flamingos and other types of birds if you visit!

Very nicely preserved place. Fresh air, lots of things to see, from plants to birds. Would be nice to enforce people respecting the rules of not walking on the dunes and not throwing trash. Very nice welcome also from the reception

Lovely view from the top of the tower, the bells are in working order so be aware that they are loud if you’re quietly enjoying the scenery. There’s a display of historic clothing, which is interesting. The shrine of bones is small and missing all the skulls. The inside of the cathedral is quite impressive.

The Cathedral in Faro is a charming historic building with a lot of character. The real highlight is climbing the tower, where you get fantastic views over the old town and the surrounding area. That said, parts of the cathedral and museum feel a bit run down, and the €5 entrance fee seems a little steep for what’s on offer. It’s best to see the fee more as a small contribution to preserving the place rather than paying for a polished attraction.

It’s absolutely worth a visit! The Cathedral is beautifully decorated and even has a charming little garden. Your ticket includes access not only to the Cathedral itself, but also to the museum, the fascinating bone chapel, and the tower. I especially appreciated the multilingual information provided for each piece of art, which makes it easy to understand the history behind them. Climbing the tower is definitely rewarding — it offers a wonderful panoramic view of the city. A very complete and enriching experience!

Gorgeous cathedral in the historic centre built in the Gothic style in 1249 which replaced a Muslim mosque, itself built on a Roman temple ! Some notable vestiges of its origins remain, such as the tower and the large ogival portal. The two side chapels of the transept, surmounted by ribbed vaults, also in the Gothic style, date from the 15th century. Plundered and burned down in 1596, it was remodeled many times. Worth seeing are the late 17th-century azulejos that adorn the Capela de Nossa Senhora do Rosário and the tomb of the knight Rui Valente.

Very touristy, but it's a tourist area so you can expect nothing less. Still quite busy considering it's off peak. Doesn't seem to be to expensive. Getting around using the Bolt app.

It is beautiful, with great art from the Barroc. It is 5 euros. It is worth it. You can go up the tower with beautiful views.

The cathedral combines Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements, reflecting the many changes it has undergone since it was first built in the 13th century. While not as imposing as some cathedrals in larger cities, its charm lies in the details like the intricately carved wooden choir stalls, decorative tiles, and peaceful inner courtyard. One of the highlights is the bell tower, which you can climb for panoramic views over Faro’s historic center and the nearby Ria Formosa lagoon. It’s a short but slightly narrow and steep ascent, so be prepared, but the view at the top is well worth the effort. The entry fee is modest and includes access to the cathedral interior, the tower, and a small religious art museum. It’s a quiet and contemplative stop that doesn’t take too long to explore but leaves a lasting impression thanks to its peaceful atmosphere and historical significance. The Cathedral i definitely worth visiting, especially if you’re already exploring the Old Town. It offers a calm and beautiful experience with a glimpse into the city’s religious and architectural heritage.

I have just returned from a fabulous stay in the Aquashow Park Hotel. The cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding. Food was excellent and staff were so attentive and friendly. Nothing was a problem to them. We had access everyday to the waterpark and it was also excellent. I must mention Pedro on reception who had only started 15 days before we arrived. His personality is outstanding. The bar and restaurant staff were fantastic always smiling even at 7.30am. This hotel is rated a 4 star and in my opinion it should be a 5 star. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful stay

This hotel, staff, facilities and food was just perfect for our weeks stay in September. Our room was on the 4th floor and looked out over the waterpark and Quarteira were I witnessed every sunrise which was so very beautiful and different each day. The room, bathroom and balcony were spacious, clean and well equipped. A small fridge , free to use safe, toiletries, hairdryer and tv. The beds were very comfortable too. We stayed half board and the hotel is quieter by the 3rd week in September but this was also nice because their were no queues for tables or food. We have to give a special shout out to our waiter Cristiano who went above and beyond during our stay. The Aquapark attached to the hotel was clean with no queues this time of year and all the staff very helpful and friendly. I have a spinal condition so could only use the lazy river and my daughter and staff helped me on/off the lazy river every time. I was more than happy filming and photographing my daughter having the time of her life. Facilities at the park are excellent. Plenty of food/beverage outlets, rollercoasters, photographers, amusements and more. The location of the hotel is in a quiet area outside Quarteira itself but with easy access to the town, Vilamoura and Albufeira via bus, taxi or user so it was not a problem. We recommend this hotel and will hopefully return in the future.

We had a wonderful stay! The location is slightly out of town, but with a car it was no problem – only about 10 minutes to Vilamoura. This hotel is absolutely amazing for kids. There’s an indoor soft play area, an outdoor play area, and free access to the water park right next door. My baby is only 18 months, so still too young, but for children over 100cm it’s incredible – honestly one of the best water parks we’ve seen, and entry is free when staying at the hotel. Breakfast was solid (I’d give it a 4/5) – good variety, with fruit changing daily, and a decent coffee machine. The bar and staff were excellent, really attentive and friendly. A special mention to the kids’ entertainer, Teddy – he went above and beyond every single day, making the kids feel so happy and included. Reception staff were also fantastic – every request I made was handled quickly and with a “yes,” nothing was too much trouble. Little touches like having kettles and beach towels available with a refundable deposit were very handy too. All in all, a brilliant family-friendly hotel – highly recommend, especially if you’re visiting with kids!

Just returned from 10 day holiday here and we loved it! Hotel and water park are fabulous, clean and great for families! The staff at the hotel are kind, polite and attentive. They were super friendly to our children and couldn't do enough to help us as a family with anything. We are really impressed with the cleanliness at the park and the hotel, everyday all day there were people cleaning and tidying in and around both the water park and hotel. We will definitely be returning and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to others! Location is a bit remote but easy to get to local towns using the hotel taxi service or Ubers.

The staff at this hotel are amazing, honestly they all really need a pay rise. The reception, bar staff and restaurant staff can’t do enough for you. They’re so kind and make you feel really welcome. The food is also amazing. Yes there a few ants in the rooms but you’re in a hot country what can they do! They do their best to keep on top of it. Loads off stuff to do for the kids here also. The cleaning staff were also lovely. The staff here really do make this hotel, this was one of the best holidays me and my children have been on. I do really hope the owners of this establishment recognise how lucky they are to have such amazing staff. PAY RISE FOR ALL OF THEM!!!

I had booked my stay at Aquashow Hotel well in advance through the HRS platform, and the very next day I called the hotel directly to confirm the reservation and ensure that access to the water park was included, even though it was a corporate rate. During that call, the receptionist spoke with her supervisor and clearly confirmed that with my reservation, access to the park would indeed be included. I trusted their word. After driving 5 hours to get there, we arrived at the hotel and, during check-in, I was told that park access was not included. I calmly explained the situation and even showed the phone record proving I had called them the day after the booking, which was a call lasting about 3 minutes. Despite this, the staff refused to take responsibility for the information they had previously given me. They contacted the hotel manager/administrator, who didn’t even come to speak with us in person. Her response was simply that she wasn’t interested in offering any adjustment or compensation, and that no tickets would be provided. Their only offer was either to accept the stay without park access or cancel the booking free of charge, which we ended up doing, because this kind of attitude and treatment is completely unacceptable. After five hours of driving, this was the reception we received. Absolutely unprofessional and disappointing.

Such a brilliant place. Feels like you’re off the beaten path but this beach is well covered with eateries and souvenir shops. Visited in April so my experience is that it wasn’t too busy. Water was a good temperature too!

Village beach close to the bars, restaurants and toilets. There is quite a high tidal change so the beach can be a bit small at v high tide. Well worth a visit.

Atmospheric place to relax. Small but comfortable beach with easy access. Fresh water showers available. Nearby there are many places where you can drink your favorite drinks or eat. Through the hills you can walk along the path to the neighboring large beach Plaia do Barranco das Belharucas, enjoying the beauty of the Atlantic along the way. Lovely beach

A very pretty little beach with a good, if not inexpensive, restaurant right on the waterfront. Free public parking a few hundred meters from the beach make this an ongoing favorite of ours. More authentic and a little less touristy than most other comparable options in the area.

Fantastic quiet beach but bare in mind I visited in late December (Christmas week). The entire week it was so peaceful, quiet and not many people around at all. An introverts dream 🥰🙌🏼 There was no sunbeds, umbrellas, rubbish or screaming humans - just peace 👌🏼✨ the beach was just fantastic and the views were amazing. Beautiful waves all around, ideal to just sit and read a book 📖 lovely sunsets at night too. Really picturesque. Christmas Day was the only time I seen the beach busy even at that it wasn’t overcrowded just Portuguese people with all their kids. Overall, highly recommend if you want somewhere peaceful to go.

very interesting old town. also a beautiful and widespread beac. the underground is mostly sandy with little rocks and shells . two sunbeds cost 21€. the old town has a party mile with live music and restaurant after restaurant with low prices.a pint of beer costs 4€. a stroll through the city is easily made in three hours.

I spent a week here 17 years ago, back then it was quiet bars and restaurants with quaint shops. Now it's like it's on speed! It seems the strip has moved into old town. The one thing stopping a 5 star from me is the fact you get hounded to go into the bars and restaurants, even in the morning! That aside the place is lovely the locals are great and there are some fantastic places to eat!

The latest visit in Albufeira that I did was last Thursday in September 2025. It was windy and still had many tourists. Nothing much changed from my last visit in 2021. The beach was beautiful. The sun is warm. Souvenirs, cafes, bars, restaurants, ice creams are there to be seen.

Cool place to hangout with friend’s and family. The nightlife is amazing. Must experience the sunset. 🌅 The place needs more public toilet.

Absolutely stunning,small streets and gorgeous views,gets really animated in the evening,filled with loads of restaurants and places to have a bite and a drink.

It's definitely worth the visit. Very unique architecture, plenty of different kinds of eateries and shops including some local merchants. Even on a hot day, you can enjoy a pleasant stroll shaded by ever-present trees.

It has so much to offer, a bit for everyone, For people with historical interest, for couples, for families, for food lovers, for shopping enthusiasts, for club & music crazy, for beach parties, for sunbathing, for water sports. It’s absolutely brilliant places, please keep at least 2 days to enjoy & explore the old town. There are few tourists traps so be a bit careful. Only one drawback the whole place turns into a night club after 10pm with no presence of police

This tour was simply fantastic! Ricardo, our guide, was so friendly and hilarious. As a marine biologist, he was able to tell us loads of interesting things about the wildlife, the coastline, and all the things we saw on the way out. As we kayaked back to the beach, we went through caves, little passageways, and spent time on a deserted beach. The final cave we visited was the coolest thing we have done on this trip. Ricardo took amazing care of us as a group and was the absolute best guide. We really enjoyed this trip, which is a little off the beaten path, in the best way possible. Absolutely recommend!

Highly recommended for anyone looking for an insightful and fun kayak tour - including cave exploration and snorkeling. Ricardo was fabulous in explaining and sharing his knowledge about the marine life in the Algarve, as well as keeping us safe. This was such an amazing experience. The guide was so knowledgeable and even took us to some hidden secret caves that aren’t reachable by regular boat. Definitely recommend, especially for the price!

It couldn't have been better. We had a fantastic kayak tour with Ricardo - including sea cucumbers, crabs, sea urchins and a sea baptism 😀. Ricardo calmly showed us the most beautiful caves. Had an amazing morning with friends on a guided tour by Algarve Freedom Kayaks. A friendly welcome right from the start. First we received our lifejackets and dry bags, and then were given an explanation on how to paddle and steer our kayaks. We were then towed in our kayaks by boat for about 20mins from Ferragudo to around Carvoeiro. Then our host Ricardo took us on our tour. This included caves, beaches, snorkling, and beautiful scenary. One of the best parts for me was Ricardos incredible knowledge of the environment and ecosystem, sealife, birds and fish, which he was happy to share. Such insight and experience makes this trip unique. You get more of an understanding and feeling for the area, that enhances the natural beauty of the seascape. I highly recommend this tour. At 30 euro for 3 - 3.5hours its well worth it. Morning tour is the best, starts at 10am and not soo busy in the area at that time. Muito Obrigada!

We loved our morning on the kayak tour. Ricardo and Octavio were super kind and had such knowledge of the area. They really wanted us to experience everything. The caves were amazing and only accessible by kayaking so if you’re thinking of a boat trip, this is what you must do instead! Octavio caught and released an octopus we could see and hold. The caves were a once in a lifetime experience, the light, the water. It was magical. Octavio is a linguist who relayed all information in multiple languages to the group and Ricardo was our patient captain. We highly recommend.

We just got off from the Dolphins & Caves tour and it was an extraordinary experience. We saw a whale on top of the dolphins. The caves were also very nice. The staff is incredibly kind and friendly. I can only recommend them if you visit Ferragudo and want to have some fun time!

We booked a trip with Wildwatch at the start of September. The whole experience from start to finish was flawless. We had 2 young children and all the staff were absolutely fantastic with them, even making way for them to get to the front of the boat to have a close up at the dolphins. Brilliant tour, can’t praise it enough. Incredibly friendly staff that are hugely knowledgeable. Their success ratio is incredibly high for sightings and are very respectful of the animals. All staff are incredibly well experienced and are there to give you the best experience they can. Took us a good while to see our first sighting (so don’t be concerned if it takes a while) but when we saw the dolphins and porpoises we were treated to amazing sights. Great review of videos and photos when we got back and tea and biscuits. Can’t thank them all enough or recommend more. Obrigado/Thank you/Diolch/Merci.

We looked at several dolphin watching companies in the area and chose this one as it was recommended by someone in our accommodation. We were not disappointed! Wildwatch presented themselves as a responsible provider and definitely not one of the many other providers that you see running up and down the coast in convoy. Only 12 people onboard for the 1hr45 dolphin watching trip and after a fast and exciting 30mins run out into open water, the captain and marine biologist spotted a group of bottlenose dolphins - approximately 30 of them with 2/3 juveniles. They treated them with respect and didn't crowd the group whilst getting us up close to witness the beautiful interaction and playfulness of these stunning animals. On return, we were treated to cake and coffee and a detailed / informative de-brief. Overall, an exceptional trip with an exceptional provider. Highly recommend going with this company.

Very nice people at Hugo's, unfortunately my quad was badly maintained. Mirrors broken and duct taped on, no braking liquid in rear circuit so no rear brakes ... tour was nice but very calm. Drink stop was exceptionally closed... swim in the lake would be even better without leaches... next tim better...

What a great trip! We went on the 2 hour quad bike tour and loved it. 2 of our group had never been on a quad bike before hence the shorter tour. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived and the whole place had a relaxed atmosphere. Questions were welcomed and any concerns were quickly addressed. The tour itself is guided by a very knowledgeable guide who leads the way through a maze of tracks that would have the rest of us lost in minutes. He was happy to stop on request to take photos or break for water but also happy to keep riding too. The scenery was unbelievable! one minute you are on top of a cliff with views over the land and next surrounded by trees in the woods. If I could offer any advice to people looking at this tour it would be to take the longer tour as the time passes so quickly once you are out. We would have easily managed the 3 hour tour. I can't praise Hugo's quad adventure enough and we will certainly be doing it again.

The beginner's trip was nice, nothing special, and the couple were very nice, but they were also 40 minutes late to our appointment and refused to give us any reimbursement nor take responsibility for this.

Very nice tours, but they don't allow over-taking or any sudden accelerating and breaking... health and safety reasons, but does take the fun out of it a little bit.

Brilliant experience, lovely people, definitely worth going for the 3 hour tour to get a dip in the freshwater lake!

Amazing, must visit. The drive up the mountain top is worth it by it self. If you drive slowly enough there is lots of balconies/road sides to stop and admire the views. When visiting the mountain in May there was hardly any people. Made a friend with a local dog who visits the mountain from close by farm/house.

A great walk to the summit - but the summit itself is deeply scarred by all the ugly towers. It’s quite awful at the top and we could let get away from it fast enough.

Fóia is a superbeautiful place to visit! It is the place from which you can see almost over all the Algarve. You can see west and southcoast coming together, you can see almost all coast cities and being there with having that view is just breath taking but also breath giving! The ride up there is fun, with decent to good roads, miradouro just below the top and a good parking area on top! On weekdays dyring the day its not crowded, but it can be in weekends. There is also a café and an Artisenal store next to the parking lot. Quite enjoyable too! Make sure you are daring to drive up to the mountain, if comming from the NL and you have never driven hills or mountains it can be quite a challenge, just make sure you dont try to shift up gears to quickly. I never had problems with it but i have seen people struggling with their cars or even (camper) vans.

This is really an amazing view. You can see both the west and south coast and get a great view over the whole area. We were there in august and the temperature was really nice and not cold so no need to dress up during summer.

Great beach. No sunloungers, has lifeguards, disabled facilities, toilets, restaurants nearby and surf hire. Can be very busy with parking an issue. That being said plenty of parking on the roads leading to and from the beach and there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out there towels and umbrellas.

Stunning! Not really one beach, but a whole section of coastline at low tide, amazing interesting geological rock formations to fish from, backed by soaring cliffs. Beautiful sand and lots of surfing hire etc in the tiny village which backs the beach. Some good cafes etc You can't really go wrong here for a beach day out!!!

One of our favorite local beaches! In the low season it is great for taking the dogs for a walk along the beach. It is also family friendly and easy to get to by car.

The old church here has an impressive interior, but the rest of the exhibits in the museum tend to be dark and gloomy. None of the information boards have English translations, so much of the explanatory information is lost to non-Portuguese speakers. That said, the entrance fee is very cheap and includes the entrance to another museum.

A beautiful and interesting place to visit - the sad but romantic story of Sister Mariana whose love letters to a French young man named Noel Barton, Chamilly's Marquis were discovered after her death. These letters were world renowned. The church is very intricately carved with much gold leaf used. I enjoyed an excellent salad to finish off the day .

A small regional museum housed in an old convent of Our Lady of the Conception. It is worth a visit, especially if you like late Gotic and Baroque architecture as well as tiles - there are beautiful azulejos everywhere, both blue and white (sometimes also yellow) in the Baroque style and also some late Gothic Moorish looking azulejos. Housing a beautiful marble head of Julius Caesar as well, one of the few made when he was still alive. Friendly staff and hopefully they'll be able to make renovations of the building soon enough, the place deserves some decent care and restoration.

Convent is actually a Pousada Hotel. But you can explore the convent's massive rooms by just walking in. Lovely calm impressive building. Good as a hotel too with good swimming pool.

Unique castle and fun to explore. Little art gallery but nothing else here, not really a museum and a few plaques about the structure. Definitely worth a visit if nearby but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit

Nice safari park with most animals given plenty of space. The 1hr safari ride at 4pm is a nice touch. Nicely laid out with animal shows every hour. The water rafting is great fun also. Could easily spend 3+ hours at the park. The safari could do with a bit more range of animals.

This is a park very well maintaned, with space for wild life, majority of animals are free. The staff is very friendly and explains everything. The place has well maintained bathrooms, and places to buy food or to sit down and eat food that has been taken from home. The extra experiences like lemur its totally worth it - they super cute, lovely and they jump on top of you while they explain about their ecosystem and how they behave.

It's not a Disney cartoon, it's a wild nature, even if it's organised by humans. The road is dusty and it's normal for this type of place. The Safari ride takes 45 min. How to get there? From Santiago by car - 7 min, by bike - 25 min, buses are rare, bus stops are not close to the park. To the owners of this business: you can add an online option "Safari taxi" for the visitors from Santiago, Grândola, Sines.

Fabulous day out for all the family! Highly recommend paying to see the Lemurs and for the water rapids, too! It's a very chilled atmosphere and wasn't too busy when we visited on a Monday in July.

Nice experience but I was expecting better organization. You have weird timing to follow for different activities and it becomes confusing. We just visited safari and also took lemur interaction which is a very cool experience. But pretty expensive hence you already pay for access. They do not allow to take pictures there with lemurs and doing photo - and then sell for €12 which makes it weird. They did 2 photos of wife and child and asked 12 per each… We missed other activities due to weird timing so I would rate overall experience as 3.5

Lots and Lots to see.It was great having over an hour and half to visit and learn about the various animals in the park ( not a Zoo). Safari was great and you forget you are in Portugal not in Africa. The Park soon becomes a Safari and Ranch with so many different bugger animals. My absolute highlight was getting within touching distance of the majestic Giraffes 🦒 that came round our transport just freely walking back & forth...truly Magical ✨️ The only thing I was dissapointed in was fact none of the talks, tours etc were in English and was told quite abruptly...only in Portugese! I am entry level 1 but surely you need consider some visitors come from across the World to support the park ?

The overall experience did not fully align with pre-visit expectations. Although the park offers a sizable area, the observed animal population appeared somewhat restricted. The associated costs for a family of four presented a perceived premium. It is acknowledged that the upkeep of the park and the care of the animals necessitate substantial financial investment. The primary area of concern centered on the safari ride, which was conducted exclusively in Portuguese. Despite communicating a preference for English, the tour proceeded without accommodating this request. This required the continuous use of a mobile translation device during the ride. Furthermore, all scheduled shows were presented in Portuguese; therefore, visitors should be prepared for this.

The hotel grounds are really beautiful and peaceful. The pool area and common spaces look great and the food is very good. The staff is also amazing. Everyone we met was kind, helpful, and friendly. But the rooms were a big disappointment. Ours was small and plain, with almost no decoration. It looked more like a small New York apartment or a basic Marriott room than what you’d expect from a hotel this expensive. The linens felt like the kind you might buy on Amazon, not soft or special. For how much the hotel costs, the rooms should be much nicer. Also, the beach is a 10-minute shuttle ride away, which we knew, but the shuttle only leaves once an hour. This is a beach town and most people go to the beach during the day, so it doesn’t make sense. If you miss the shuttle, you have to wait another hour, which is not what you’d expect at a hotel like this. The setting is beautiful and the staff is wonderful, but the rooms and beach access really took away from the overall experience.

A beautiful retreat to relax and enjoy quality service and food with a beautiful beach in nearby Comporta. The two beach clubs, JNCQuoi and Sublime, are also upscale and wonderful. It seems like the surf is not as rough in Comporta, however. FYI. (The two beach clubs are fantastic and definitely worth visiting though). I had two fantastic massages in the spa. Thank you, Joana and Katia- I feel so much better and really enjoyed meeting both of you; you’re top-notch!

Wow! What a fantastic combination of luxury and casual relaxation. Our room was lovely with a biopool just outside the patio door and a modern bathroom and welcoming layout. Everyone I came into contact with on this property was kind and genuine. We attended a cooking class which was a lot of fun. Having stayed for several nights I left feeling refreshed and relaxed. The spa treatments were top notch and the grounds were impeccably maintained. I hope to stay at this and other Sublime locations for years to come. Thanks for such an incredible experience.

Absolutely loved our visit here! Felt like I was staying at a resort that White Lotus would film at. Stayed in room 8 which I feel is a great location to the gym, spa and main restaurant. Breakfast is fabulous and nice that it is included. Had dinner one night and had the Sole for two - 10/10. Service at this hotel is outstanding. My only complaint which is minor, better lighting at night when walking back to your room. Highly recommend this beautiful resort.

The location and grounds are beautifully kept. Sadly the quality of the experience makes it hard for me to recommend this location to any of my American friends in search of a place to unwind in luxurious stillness. 🚨 Most alarming: I found the staff to be quite dishonest about the services we were interested in. We were even charged a fee for something that was phrased as complimentary when offered. When I explained my confusion given the wording, management was unmoved and offered no concession for the miscommunication. It was a bit disappointing to say the least. For anyone hung up on Sublime, we have been shopping around for wedding venues so I will edit this post with my top recommendations in the coming months 💕

Amazing place for families! We loved our stay at Sublime Comporta. Such a beautiful and peaceful place, surrounded by nature. We played padel, had an amazing spa treatment, and spent time at the beach club — perfect for long lunches and sunsets. The staff were super friendly and made everything easy. A really special spot for a family getaway.

I used already a few times the charging station of this beautiful hotel. But today I was refused and told that only hotel guests are allowed to use it. It is still very difficult in Portugal to find a fitting charging station for your electric car and it is a very unpolite and rude behaviour to disallow the usage. The hotel has two charging points and both were available.

Views are stunning. Hotel itself is very dated and rather tatty. Needs refurbishment. Staff were lovely but breakfast was a massive fail - food products were inferior, given the prices, and the grounds are in need of better care - cigarette butts litter the gravel and the plants are in need of love. On the plus side dogs are allowed although they charged us a 60 euros for our two boys ( one small and one medium). That said, they did give the boys a lovely furry friends treat box. So on the whole, lovely stay but over priced for the condition and quality of food.

A Perfect Stay at the Pousada em Alcácer do Sal Our stay at the Pousada was simply perfect from start to finish and we were a family group of 10. Everything exceeded our expectations: the rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The atmosphere throughout the property strikes a perfect balance between historical charm and modern comfort. The pool area was a true highlight: serene, well-maintained, and ideal for relaxing under the Alentejo sun. The food was also outstanding, with a great variety and high-quality ingredients that showcased the region’s flavors beautifully. Above all, the staff were warm, professional, and attentive, making us feel welcome and cared for at every moment. It’s rare to find a place where everything comes together so harmoniously, but this is it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic, and luxurious experience in Alcácer do Sal. The Castelo itself offers everything you would expect from a Pousada. The rooms have seen better days..., the silicone joints in the bathroom were moldy - the entrance corridor was not bright and welcoming due to the dark brown build in wardrobe and the wainscoting of the same nature. The bedroom was good, The small terrace was nice, offering a great view towards the valley. The service in this Pousada in contrast to other Pousadas was reasonably good. I would not recommend the restaurant.

Historic pousada, well situated. It's a 10 minute walk from the rivierbank, where thé shops and restaurants are. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool. Big and clean rooms. The building is impresive.

Had a great experience riding there. Horses were very gentle, pretty much just walked on their own. Sometimes my horse stopped to snack on the grass but a simple redirection is all that's needed. The trip started at the rice fields, then a slight sandy hill to the beach. Beautiful views. The guides were friendly.

Not to miss this unique experience if you visit Comporta! Going through the rice fields, sand dunes and the beach! The team is really professional and made us feel really welcomed and safe in every moment. They have a nice bar where to have a drink after riding. They also offer drone videos a pictures of the journey if you wish.

Amazing experience. First time on a horse, the group leader was really nice and gave us lots of advices. The landscape is amazing, felt like we were alone on the beach. 60€/pax for 1h30 of spree.

As an experienced rider I paid for a private ride, which meant I could canter along the beach. Just me and a guide, the ride was incredible, on lovely horses too. For me it was a dream come true! The horses all seem well cared for in great facilities, many of them are even rescued. One thing to improve? Communication and booking was difficult, with a few crossed wires! Worth it in the end though.

Loved it here. It was definitely worth the drive on the rough road to get here. Loved the energy. Such a cool space that many wouldn’t enjoy but big energy space and a lot of history.

We visited this site: the walk is quite long since it’s best to leave the car at a distance. The road to get there is in very poor condition, so you really need to drive slowly to avoid damaging the car. The archaeological site itself is nice – there’s nothing around it, but it’s still an interesting place to visit.

From the top car park its only a short walk. A much much longer walk from the other lay by area. Easy to misunderstand which one your going to look at due to the poor information. The stones themselves definitely need more information to tell the story behind it. The road up on small dirt bikes was excellent fun but cars need to take it steady.

Great piece of history! The drive is tricky though. You will need a decent car there are a lot of potholes! Worth the visit though!

Stones from 5,000 B.C. It's a climb up a very narrow bumpy road from the interpretive center, biking it was probably easier than driving. The stones are amazing and there are views across the plains all the way to Evora in the distance.

You can access to this mystic place by car , of course the road is not a good one but with cautious driving you will get there. I call it a Portuguese Stonehenge , I believe it is worth a visit . There’s free parking lot and lots of cork fields .

We had a low rental car and the road actually was blocked off maybe 2.5 kms before, because it was washed out. We walked to it and it was beautiful through a cork farm. Use a compass to see the alignments of the rocks that mark the cardinal points and solstices. Super cool and older than Stonehenge based on the soil samples and relics buried there. Can see some of the carvings in the rocks. It’s free to view.

Large remains of what once must have been a beautiful castle with surrounding town. Especially in the 15th century it was a powerhouse and it was here that the first plans were made for a first sea expedition to India. That voyage would later be made by Vasco da Gama

Great partially restored castle. Be sure to stop in to the interpretive center and watch the brief video of the history of the castle, along with great exhibits and a very knowledgeable young man who will gladly answer any questions you may have.

Castle in a small town with an amazing view. I hope that is restored to its original state, as it needs some love. Nevertheless there is an audio tour and information so worth the detour from main highway.

55 mins drive from lisbon. One of the best beach with sooo clear water and also the day i went were less waves, felt like swimming pool. It gets very busy though sk recommend going early And parking is on streets if you got lucky or nearby in a hotel parking uptown floor 7, which is costly I paid 10€ for around 4 hrs

Good beach. Hotel could do some cleaning of the litter that gets washed up on shore but otherwise it's easy to get to and relatively quiet.

Calm waters, really beautiful but usually very full... It has all the amenities you need, it's fairly easy to park either in the hotel park or the outside park behind it. You can always get a space in one of the concessions but if you don't want that just keep walking until you reach the end of the beach, you'll usually find a spot there.

One of my favorite beaches in Lisbon area, beautiful views, good infrastructure in the season (out of season unfortunately public toilet is closed, the same with beach bars, but there is plenty of bars and restaurants nearby).

It is an amazing place, really touristic, different shops and market for to buy any kind of food with good prices, I bought a cold cane of tea for only 85cent. The sea it is so clean and clear that even the water it is cold, looks like amazing for to swim in.

Just a lovely beach! We went early so it was not very crowded. There are many parking spots near the beach and if you want you can rent an umbrella. The water was just perfect and the beach was very clean. There are no showers so you should come prepared for that.

Beautiful setting on the old fort. We had a grilled sea bream which was good and fresh. The sides the fish comes with were boring (just a few potatoes and some steamed vegetables). Not the cheapest place, but it shouldn't be either with that location.

The view was excellent and the service was friendly, but the food, the most important part, was very disappointing. I ordered a tuna steak rare, but it arrived well done and covered in SWEET TOPPINGS!! Never seen this in my life! I asked before ordering if the dourada was “wild from the sea”, which was confirmed. But it was bland and tasted like it came from a fish farm even thought it is priced as wild. Not a place to eat real Portuguese food.

We only had coffee...but the service was excellent. Very friendly. The views are spectacular. Highly recommend.

The view is amazing but the food was terrible. It was served called and tasted poorly. We had creamy lobster rice, duck breast and Atlantic soup. They also charged us 15Eur for starters we didn’t order and didn’t touch. All in all, it is a very overpriced place with a low quality food

Good place for walking with geat views over the coast and inland. Most of the paths we have taken so far are reasonable but some of the mapped routes online need some updating. there are wild boar around but we didn't " bump" into any. uber is cheap here so you can either do circular routes or get an user back if you start finish on a road as we did.

Stunning views on the south side of Setúbal. This highway is one you want to swap drivers just so both people have a chance to look out into the ocean 😋. If you go in the evening it may be less busy.

Fantastic beach. Bit of a steep walk to get to the ocean but was manageable with a 2yr old. Shame the restaurants at the front had no simple food options and both are 100% not suitable for children. Really let the place down. Had to leave and go elsewhere for lunch and dinner.

This open air fish and produce market (primarily) was an amazing experience. It was a definite example of sustainable living.

Excellent market with huge variety of fish & crustaceans as well as fruits & vegetables, meats, breads and cakes. Highly recommended for a lively experience of a market appreciated not only by tourists but more importantly by local residents.

Absolutely one of the best markets to visit. Incredible fresh fruit and vegetables, plus the the most fresh fishery to buy anything you desire. You can also enjoy some fresh oysters and drink wine while at the market.

I love a good open-air market, and while visiting Setúbal I stopped by to walk around theirs. It’s a large, lively market filled with local vegetables, organic products, butchers, fisheries, and a few restaurants tucked along the sides. It’s vibrant, full of color, and one of the best places to immerse yourself in fresh local produce and meet warm, friendly people. Definitely worth a visit — and you can’t miss the big pink building. Hard to miss!

Loved this market...didn't know what expect but pleasantly surprised..ended up walking up and down ...marvelling at the produce and deciding what to buy 🤔 loved the statues that tell the story of the market history... ( some videos have strobe effect)

Amazing hotel, wow, wow, wow! You really feel the castle stay: from the portraits on the walls, to the decoration, to the furniture - everything is transporting you back in time and providing for a unique experience. The staff is great and very helpful. The breakfast was probably the best of the whole trip - quality cheeses and hams, pastries and special shout out to the pumpkin cake, still dreaming about it. Unforgettable stay, definitely will try to come back.

Had a wonderful stay here in this beautiful historic castle. Staff was extremely friendly. Rooms were in great shape and with adequate AC. Dining options were great. Daily breakfast was exquisite, tasty with great variety and beautifully presented. You can freely explore the castle grounds while it is open as well which is a great way to enjoy an early AM or evening stroll. Great views too. I will definitely be back when passing through this area again. On another note - I left a personal item in the hotel and they even mailed it back to me, all the way in the United States at no charge. Superb service.

Wonderful place to stay, not far from Lisbon. The restaurant is fantastic and breakfast in the courtyard was so fun. Comfortable rooms. The wine in this region was our favorite of the trip as well.

Great atmospheric place! If you are looking for solitariness, quitness, and historical vibe, go for it. This is the right place for you. But be ready to stay at a medieval castle with some disturbing things that come with it. Like strong ever-present musty smell, unstable Wi-Fi, poor bathroom utilities... Overall, an interesting place to stay at,but not for more than a couple of days.

Fantastic hotel within the old castle. Large, comfortable, quiet and cool rooms. Excellent buffet breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice ambience and clean and well maintained. Highly recommended.

I was there with my husband and children to celebrate 10 months of my son's and our wedding anniversary, but I was there only for breakfast service. The place is amazing. Beautiful and historic place, but the breakfast service wasn't on the same level level from the group of this place is a piece, We had waited a while before we checked with the person who needed to be informed we were there like walking in nothing like a guest in the Place. The hot food sector wasn't so incredible and the coffee wasn't so incredible an experience for those who love coffee I advise you to go get a Nespresso made by yourself. For the group Pestana, famous in Portugal for getting a 5-star in service and hospitality I received a 2-3 star service, and it was needed to make a reservation during the summer. Maybe if you're a guest the attendance and treatment can be better than what I got, but one place like that wasn't worth the money, but the view and the castle are fabulous that worth your time.

Interesting historical place to stay with a view all the way to Setubal. Prices a bit high as it is a Pousada. Not worth the money. Better stay downtown cheaper and just visit the Pousada to see it. Parking high up just outside the hotel entrance. Several tourists just parked there to see the church and museum.

It’s a nice and pleasant drive, but I found the prices quite similar to the ones in Norway. Took my son about 20 minutes to get an ice scream scoop with only a table seated. Hard to understand Had problems with the tax free as not all workers are informed about the rules between Norway and European Union.

Nice complex, with easy access and ample parking. Many shops but not all have the same quality products as the normal shops on town. More outlet shops… prices are competitive if you look for deals. All in all not bad

Open-air outlet with a nice layout. I was expecting more summer clearance deals, but most stores were already preparing for the winter season. Still, it’s a pleasant spot to walk around, with a good mix of popular brands.

Such a hidden gem just outside of Lisbon! I spent two full days shopping here because it’s full of designer stores at really affordable prices that you wouldn’t get anywhere else. There are also clean bathrooms and places to eat so you can spend a lot of time.

I like this kind mall, you can enjoy outside and inside shops, maybe not all shops in my budget, but some of in very good price quality balance :)

Nice outdoor shopping center. Lots of stores from famous international brands, plus numerous local shops that we not familiar with. We went on a Monday and it was not at all crowded. In fact it was quiet and pleasent to walk around.

We were lucky it was a beautiful November day when we went to Freeport. I was a bit afraid as it rained the days prior and there are no covered passages in this place. To go from shop to shop, if it's raining, you will get wet. If it's hot, you will melt. But there are a lot of great shops with good, end of collection/season deals. It's worth a visit.
