The serene surroundings are home to playful swans and ducks that eagerly await food from passersby, making it a delightful spot for families. Ghora Katora Lake - One of the scenic places of Rajgir. With Gautam Buddha resting in middle of the lake, the views stand out pretty amazing, especially in sunset. We were very lucky to be a part of this beauty. You will find many swans and ducks who are always hungry for any food you throw at them. There is a stall for packaged food items from where you can buy for yourselves or to feed the swans/ducks. How to go: Take a Tanga (horse cart) and reach Sanchi Stupa point. Here, the tanga will halt for you. You will find a Toto stand which you will have to board to reach this spot (7km from Toto Stand). We were charged Rs. 100 per person full trip. Activities: Paddle boating is available. If you are coming by private vehicle (car/bike), then there is parking spot where you will need to park and then book the Toto. Closing time: 5 PM Ticket: Rs. 10 per person

It's so far from shanti stoop(approximately 7 km, as bikes or petrol vehicles are not allowed you have to take electric auto rickshaw from parking area of shanti stoop. With sharing it will be charged 100 rupees per person and in reserve they take 600 per trip. Rickshaw person left tourist on the spot and wait for half an hour and after boating they pickup their tourist and took them at parking area. It's an amazing lake with full of nature. Eco friendly, environmentally controlled, clean and beautiful lake. Forest greenery and numbers of hill arround the lake. Numbers of two seaters paddle boats for couples and four seaters paddle for groups are available there for boating in the lake. The charges of those boats are 80 rupees per person for half an hour.
Gulshan K — Google review
One of the attraction near the ropeway. There are e-rickshaws which charge Rs.100 per head, but if one reserves the whole e-rickshaws, it’ll be charged Rs.500 for the entire car. 6-7 on journey is quite tiresome, considering the road has not been rolled ever looks like. However, once we reach, the view is superb. There’s a park and there’s the huge water body, with Buddha statue installed behind matha. The e-rickshaws start from almost the foot of Rajgir ropeway. Some bargaining may help reducing the fare to 350-400. The name originated from either because the the lake is horse-shaped. Also, King Ajatashatru’s horses used to come and drink water from this hole. There’re 2 sets of ticket required for park and lake separately, can be bought close to base of ropeway. Quite a good experience.
Rajarshi S — Google review
This is a calm soothing place. In order to reach there you have to an e-rickshaw from the entry gate to reach there passing through woods to reach a place where you can see a lake , few boats and a statue of Lord Buddha. This great combination screams calmness and soothness of nature and it's beauty. There is also a park and washroom are also available. The boating ride is everything to chill and relax and enjoy. Highly recommend for nature lovers.
Ananya A — Google review
It is believed that the horses of King Ajatshatru used to drink water here. The shape of the lake resembles that of a horse and the lake is surrounded by mountains on three of the sides. A statue of Buddha sits in the middle of the lake. The 70 feet tall statue is constructed of 45,000 cubic feet of pink sandstone. The lake is around 6. 5 kms from the Vishwa Shanti Stupa and only battery operated vehicles are allowed. They charge Rs.100 per trip. Contrary to lot of other reviews there is no cafe or rest room nor any rest house.
Vikas S — Google review
No words to describe this place just serene and scenic. A must visit in winters. This place usually have less crowd and people can usually boat around the lake.
Sarang K — Google review
A very serene place with a scenic view of the Buddha statue at the centre of a lake. One can reach by toto from Shanti stupa to this place which costs Rs. 100 per head and is around 6 km distance. One can do boating. You can find a lot of ducks there. A small snack shop is there as well.

Ashoka's stupa

Mentioned on
1 list
Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Now completely in ruins, this Stupa is believed to have been built by Ashok sometime in 3rd Century BCE. Built with bricks , debri and mud, it possibly contained the ashes of Buddha. Most pics on the internet claim Vishwa shant stupa to be Ashok stupa which is incorrect. Ashok Stupa can be seen from the top of Vishwa Shanti stupa. If you can, there is a trekking route to top of the hill to reach Ashok Stupa
Vikas S — Google review
There is unfortunately nothing much remaining here. The photos of shanti stupa are misleading. There is just a few bricks and rubble with a Buddhist flag to commemorate the spot
Sagar N — Google review
Way to reachs ashoka stupa is very scary because a chain rop goes to the upper side of the place. Tourist place many of student and college student visit in a day. Its view is amazing and the gatum buddh statue is situated in the above of stupa.

This is not Ashoka’s stupa. It’s Newly Excavated Stupa. It’s on a top of a hill after Girddhakuta
Sarabjeet L — Google review
This not only a beautiful, natural and historical place but a place of peace and solitude. It is a small hike from Gridh Kut but it is worth the effort if you want a place to meditate or sit quietly. The trees next to the stupa give good shade all day making it possible to spend many hours there.

Griddhakuta (Vulture's Peak)

Gridhrakuta, also known as Vulture Peak or Vultures Peak, is a significant pilgrimage site for Buddhists located in the Nalanda district of Bihar. It is believed to be one of the most ancient sites where Buddha preached his Lotus Sermon and used to meditate. The peak resembles the shape of a vulture's head due to natural stone formations.
Good and sacred place where Siddhartha Buddha and his chief disciples Thera Sariputta and Maha Mogallana used to stay on this hills.
Rohit P — Google review
Interesting place to visit. However taking the Bimbisara road up, it was sad to see so many locals begging along the path. But then when there were less pilgrims, they were all gone! Despite having all their disabilities and ailments… The walk is well paved out and the peak can be easily reached. The men who take care of the spot are rude and harshly beat one of the wild dogs until it was screaming so loudly. Right in front of the Buddha idol too. Very disrespectful.
Sagar N — Google review
This peak can be climbed in less than one hour from Rajgir. There is also a ropeway but that goes to a different nearby hill. It is shaped like a vulture's beak if you see it from a certain angle, hence the name vultures peak The atmosphere at the top is amazing and very conducive to meditation. Many devotees come in the peak season to meditate. There is a small shrine where the buddha used to sit and meditate, on base of the hut on the peak. There is also another ananda hut a little distance away. Below the peak there are ruins of a mauryan era monastery, a few caves notably those of Shariputra and Maudgalanya, lots of Tibetan prayer flags and so on. Those caves are also good for worshipping and meditating. One nice way to gain some merit by cleaning the place, if it is dirty. Some people who come do not know the significance of the place and treat it as a picnic spot, especially in off season. Better to come early in the morning when its cool and easier to climb.(source kuch internet and kuch khud ka anubhav)
Rishabh S — Google review
Lord Buddha had spent some time here and he delivered some of the important Sutra here and this place was highly known among serious mediation practitioners.
Stanzin S — Google review
I feel awesome here. I feel like home. So peaceful, beautiful and the most holy place in Rajgir. It has so much of history related to Buddha and Buddhism. Buddha spent some time here in few caves, and Buddha used to give sermons here. Bimbisar, the king of Magadh changed his religion here, he was converted to Buddhist by the Buddha himself. In dwapar yuga, Jarasandh was the king of Magadh, It is said that after loosing numerous wars to Shri Krishna, He started worshiping many Gods and as a result many of the Gods appeared here in Rajgir ( Rajgrih as per history). You can still feel the presence of Gods here in Rajgir, And this Vulture peak and the surrounding has extreme positive energy. I would recommend to explore this place alone. Someone wrote in review it is a challenge to walk to Gridhkut. I ran and reached here, you have facilities to reach the top and prices are fair. Rajgir small footpath sellers keeps prices low and equal, so don't indulge in discussion of you are buying something.
Gaurav S — Google review
Here Bhagwan Buddha gave all the Lectures continuously 27 years. Very sacred place for Buddhist People ! Most of the History of Buddha is Created Here ! Visit this place with 3 Full says of Time ! All The Best !
Mathskart C — Google review
UPDATE: I visited this holy site again in Feb 2023. And I am deeply concerned at how this site has become a business for a handful of Indians. In 2020, there was no Buddha idol. Now, they have placed one to deceive disciples to offer monies. In addition, they have made to remove shoes - again a business for a person who is supposedly taking care of it. Please know that these people are swindlers by fooling a pure hearted disciples. We should always discourage these kinds of fraudulent activities at holy sites. OLD REVIEW: Gridhakuta is a hill located at Rajgir, Bihar where Lord Buddha carried out many dialogues with his disciples after he achieved enlightenment. It is the place where Lord Buddha started his second helm of commandment and preached many inspiring teachings and sermons to his disciples. Gridhakuta hill is also known as Vulture’s Peak. It was at Gridhakuta hill that Lord Buddha gave his two significant sutras the Lotus Sutra and the Prajnaparamita. But beware of beggars and swindlers who try to sell you different religious items from rosary to prayer flags. Also, do discourage child begging as these children will never grow out of this habit. Religious trip shouldn't come at the cost of ruining child's life. I always stay away from child beggars.
Denzi ( — Google review
It is so named because it resembles a sitting vulture with its wings folded. Lord Buddha used to sit and preach here. Its location is frequently mentioned in Buddhist texts in the Pāli Canon of Theravada Buddhism and in the Mahayana sutras as the place where the Buddha gave certain sermons. Among the sermons are the Heart Sutra, the Lotus Sutra and the Śūraṅgama Samādhi Sūtra as well as many prajnaparamita sutras. It is believed that it was here at Gridhakuta, where Buddha made Mauryan king Bimbisara convert to Buddhism.

Perched atop the Gridhakuta Hill at an altitude of 400m, Viswa Shanti Stupa Rajgir is a modern white stupa built by the Japanese as a symbol of world peace. It features four gilded Buddha statues representing significant events in Buddha's life. Accessible by cable cars, this site also includes a temple for prayers dedicated to universal peace.
World Peace Stupa Rajgir is a very good place to visit with family or friends. The view of the surrounding hills from here is outstanding, the air here feels very good, and there are other temples around it as well.
Sujit A — Google review
scribed as a serene and awe-inspiring experience, offering breathtaking views from the top of a hill. Visitors can reach the stupa via a ropeway or a challenging but rewarding trek, both of which provide unique perspectives of the surrounding mountains and forested ravines. The experience is further enhanced by the peaceful atmosphere, the sight of the beautiful white stupa itself, and the chance to see monkeys, though visitors are advised to be cautious with food.
Dr C — Google review
Ropeway is the best attraction and buddha temple beside the stupa is peaceful. If you have time then must meditate there. Take your tickets as early as possible and make sure you are in the queue it takes time to board on the ropeway cabin.
Sujal S — Google review
A peaceful and spiritual destination in Rajgir! The Vishwa Shanti Stupa, located atop Ratnagiri Hills, is a symbol of peace and non-violence. You don’t need a ticket to visit, and you can reach the top by a scenic ropeway or a forested walking trail. I saw several groups of monkeys around the area—interesting to watch, but do be careful with food and belongings. The stupa features four golden Buddha statues, each facing a different direction, depicting major events from his life. Visitors include Buddhists from all over the world, which reflects the site's global importance. The view from the top is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is calm and deeply spiritual. Let’s respect and preserve this sacred place for future generations.
Roshan J — Google review
Viswa Shanti Stupa atop the hills, is one of the major attractions of Rajgir. I visited this place recently after a gap of 40 years ! It remains ever so beautiful and pristine. Lord Gautam Budhha sits in all his glory in the white temple and you immediately find peace as you pray to him and seek blessings. One has to reach the mountain top by a cable car and now i found the introduction of glass units which gives a beautiful view of the surrounding as you hang from the cable and climb up. Upto 8 passengers can travel together to seek the blessings at the temple on the top of the mountain. The old arrangement of open single hanging iron chairs are no longer in use as cable car seats.
Shibaji S — Google review
Brilliant japanese architecture. Infrastructure was top-notch. The place is quite crowded even on weekdays but it's worth it especially during rainy season cuz of the fog (images taken by me 😁)

Vishwa Shanti Stupa in Rajgir is a serene and spiritual site nestled atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Hiuen Tsang Memorial is a beautifully constructed piece of architecture dedicated to the famous Chinese traveller we all have read about in our history books. Definitely a must visit. The tickets to the memorial have to be purchased at a counter located in the Arts and Craft Market, adjacent to the memorial. When you reach Nalanda, you can take your personal vehicle till the Arts and Craft Market near the Memorial or you can hire an Electric Auto which would take you to 4 sites 1. Hiuen Tsang Memorial 2. Jain Temple 3. Black Buddha Statue 4. Nalanda Mahavihara. They take you to these places in this sequence and ask for 400 Rupees.

Should have been a beautiful natural spot. But people have converted it into a crowded dirty area with hundreds taking bath. Concrete walls has been putup to hide it from viewing by visitors who do not intend to take bath.

Very Crowded area...only one changing room is for girls otherwise everyone change outside of the spring... Soap and Shampoo is not allowed. the spring water is very soothing and fresh especially in winter....one thing I have to tell that at first you have to clean yourself by the water from outside of this spring where some water flowing from a statue then you can go into the spring for bath otherwise the priests were not allowed you to go into this spring...

You have to climb stairs and take right downstairs to visit Hotspring it is very crowded place. Hopefully when I was there it was not too much crowd. It doesn’t feel too much hygienic to take bath I just put my leg inside the water there is no changing room so you will not so comfortable for changing the clothes after taking bath due to heavy crowd and heavy crowd, you should avoid going Hotspring. It could be dangerous because of less space at one time 6 to 7 people were comfortable at Hotspring during taking bath

At a distance of 3 km from Rajgir Railway Station, Rajgir Hot Springs are the sacred natural water springs in Rajgir, Bihar. Situated near Pandu Pokhar, it is one of the popular hot water springs in Bihar and among the prominent places of pilgrimage in Rajgir. Situated at the foot of the Vaibhava Hill, Hot Water Springs are one of the most popular attractions of Rajgir. There are around seven Hot Springs in Rajgir which are considered to be sacred places for Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The water comes from the seven streams known as Saptadhara that are believed to originate from the Saptaparni Caves at the top of the hill. The Brahmakund Spring is regarded as the most sacred one as well as the hottest one with a temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius. The Hot Springs are also known for their medicinal values which help to cure many skin ailments. The water from the spring is collected in an enclosure, which is accessible by a staircase. There are also faucets with running water where one can bathe. Separate bathing places are allocated for men and women. Non-Hindus are not allowed to enter the spring. A flight of stairs above the Brahma Kund leads to Pippala cave, a massive stone structure with grottos on all sides. It has been identified as the Pippala stone house, which was frequented by Buddha and later his disciples. It is named after the Pipal tree at the cave's entrance that is said to have been occasionally visited by the Buddha for meditation after his midday meal. The structure is popularly known as 'Jarasandh ki Baithak' after King Jarasandh who figures in the text of the Mahabharata. One can also visit Lakshmi Narayan Temple located beside the hot spring. Timings: 6 AM - 6 PM Entry: Free

At the foot of Vaibhava Hill, a staircase leads up to the various temples. Separate bathing places have been organized for men and women and the water comes through spouts from Saptdhara, the seven streams, believed to find their source behind the "Saptarni Caves", up in the hills. The hottest of the springs is the Brahmakund with a temperature of 45 degree Centigrade.

Sariputra Stupa, also known as the Nalanda Stupa is one of the remarkable excavations present amongst the ruins of Nalanda University. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the most important monument in Nalanda and stands as a testament to its rich cultural heritage. Built-in the 3rd century BC by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka, in the honor of Buddha's follower Sariputra. Sariputra became a celebrated Arhat after he was able to attain salvation following Buddha's footsteps. The Stupa contains the bones of Sariputra, one of the two chief disciples of Gautam Buddha. The stupa is shaped like a pyramid at the top. The multiple flights of stairs surrounding the stupa, lead to its top. Seven layers of construction explain its colossal size, making it a sight to behold. Beautiful sculptures and votive stupas flank the structure. These votive stupas have been built with bricks and passages from sacred Buddhist texts have been inscribed on them. It is believed that these stupas were constructed over the ashes of Lord Buddha. The most striking of all the votive stupas is the fifth one, which has been preserved well along with its corner towers. These towers are adorned with exquisite panels of Gupta-era art that include stucco figures of Lord Buddha and scenes from the Jataka tales. The top portion of the stupa features a shrine chamber that houses a pedestal, which must have been originally used to place a large Lord Buddha statue. The Gwe Bin Tet Kon stupa in Myanmar is said to be influenced by the Nalanda Stupa. Timings: 0900 - 1700

Shariputra Stupa is the tallest temple and supposed to be famous Buddhist temple In Nalanda premises. Most of the places, Nalanda is represented by the images of Shariputra Stupa on text book, Blogs etc. Now Shariputra Stupa is protected and we can just see the stupa standing at a distance. Once Bollywood used this site for filming.

Another important account of the times is the biography of the Tibetan monk-pilgrim, Dharmasvamin, who journeyed to India between 1234 and 1236. When he visited Nalanda in 1235, he found it still surviving, but a ghost of its past existence. Most of the buildings had been damaged by the Muslims and had since fallen into disrepair. But two viharas, which he named DHANABA and GHUNABA, were still in serviceable condition with a 90-year-old teacher named Rahula Shribhadra.

Ruins of Nalanda Mahavihara

Archaeological site
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
I visited the Ruins of Nalanda yesterday, and it was a deeply enriching experience. The site is a testament to India’s ancient educational brilliance and Buddhist heritage. The layout of the monasteries and temples is awe-inspiring, and the peaceful atmosphere adds to the sense of reverence. The ASI has maintained the site quite well, though better signage and stricter regulation of guides would improve the experience. I’d recommend hiring a good guide to truly appreciate the historical context. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike.
Anand V — Google review
This is widely considered to be among the greatest centres of learning in the ancient world, and often referred to as "the world's first residential university". Its completely ruins and ASI also didn’t marked all the places well inside. There are lot to see inside and you will require 2-3hrs if you want to explore it completely. The parks are well maintained but the ancient structures are not that much maintained. There should be some more descriptions of the ruins as things are not understandable much. The place is on the road but there are people charging for the parking and e-rickshaws taking money for roaming around which can be done by walking only. They are misleading people to take the rickshaw.

Nalanda Ruins – A Walk Through Ancient Wisdom A visit to the Nalanda ruins is like stepping back in time to witness the legacy of one of the world’s oldest and most celebrated universities. Although the Nalanda Museum is currently under renovation and closed to visitors, the ruins themselves remain the heart of the experience and are absolutely worth exploring. Tickets are available separately for the ruins and can be purchased on-site. The vast archaeological site can easily take 3 to 4 hours if you truly wish to explore every corner and absorb the depth of its historical and architectural richness. Walking through the remains of ancient classrooms, temples, and dormitories makes you feel deeply connected to the scholarly past that once flourished here. Avoid visiting in the peak summer months, as the entire site is open to the sky with very limited shade. The heat can be quite harsh and exhausting. The best time to visit is from autumn to spring (October to March), when the weather is more pleasant and allows for a more relaxed and immersive experience. Overall, Nalanda is not just a destination—it's a journey into the heritage of learning and cultural brilliance. Make sure to take your time and soak it all in.

Ruins of the once one of the largest learning centre in the world. Good place to go back in history. Well maintained. I visited on a weekday in April, so there was not much crowd. I could easily purchase ticket from ticket counter. There were some people around ticket counter who claimed they were guides. I was not too keen to hire so I politely refused them. It seems private cars are not allowed in the area. E-auto fellows flank you once you reach the location. The e-auto guy suggested 4 places visit for Rs350. He said it was off season so they were charging less. During season they charge Rs600. Some guys extorted Rs50 from me for parking my car in some place slightly inside the road. It didn’t even look like a parking area but they just surrounded me and started arguing aggressively. One star less only for this unpleasant experience.

Nestled in the heart of Bihar, the ruins of Nalanda University whisper tales of an ancient epicentre of learning. Founded in the 5th century CE, this monastic and scholastic institution flourished for over 700 years, attracting scholars from across Asia, including China, Korea, and Tibet. Its sprawling campus, built with red bricks in the Kushana architectural style, housed thousands of students and hundreds of teachers, fostering an environment of intellectual pursuit in diverse fields like Buddhist philosophy, logic, astronomy, medicine, and grammar. The remnants reveal a meticulously planned complex of monasteries, classrooms, stupas, and temples. The impressive Sariputra Stupa, with its multiple tiers and intricate stucco work, stands as a testament to the architectural grandeur of the Gupta period. Excavations have unearthed monastic cells, lecture halls, and courtyards, offering glimpses into the daily lives and academic rigour of the Nalanda community. Its famed library, Dharma Gunj, was legendary, reportedly housing millions of manuscripts. Tragically, the university was destroyed in the 12th century, and its legacy lay buried until its rediscovery in the 19th century. Today, the ruins of Nalanda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, evoke a sense of awe and reverence for its profound historical and intellectual significance, symbolizing India's rich heritage in education and its contribution to global knowledge.

Beautiful and well maintained Garden in Rajgir. Don’t miss if you are in Rajgir. Brief History as below, as per Bihar tourism dept. This place is regarded as one of the first places gifted to Lord Buddha by Bimbisara, the king of Magadha at that time. Bimbisara once got delayed while taking bath at the nearby Saraswati River and and the gate of the Rajgir city was closed even to the king. An exemplary security system indeed! The King spent the night in the company of Buddha at this Bamboo Garden and that is how the place is significant to the devotees. There is a large artificial lake and a Buddha sculpture built by Japanese devotes next to the lake where one can bask in the peaceful atmosphere.

One if the worst experience if this adventure place. They will take exorbitantly charges at the gate and post that nobody is bothered to check if you are able to figure our activities o not. Money is too much but not maintained at all. Entire kids play area was dirty with mud and never cleaned. It so unhygienic. The only thing okay was boating and few activities like zip line. But highly rated for unnecessary reasons. Poor service. Never recommend to walk kms Inside this place and achieve and enjoy nothing. No facility for elderly.

It's a very beautiful place for staycation!! Well planned , Hut like rooms are present which are luxurious .Its superclean has supernatural feels. The place has a park attached with it ...which is worth a really good walk, well- maintained!! They have lots of activities for kids and for adults they have boating too! The stay was pretty amazing and peaceful! Scope for improvement - they had like very minimal options for breakfast..they told us there was live dosa counter so we ordered 2 of it! But ...it took around half and hour to first of all bring that dosa! And when they brought so the batter seemed to be quite old enough to taste really bitter! Other options were bread and butter ,puri aloo sabji and aloo bonda..! Which were good! The locality is serene to stay at! It looks very amazing overall and the staff is really helpful ! They have a good parking space also and provide tour packages too! Preferably Stay here if you are visiting Rajgir!!

This review was long pending. I finally took time to write it. If you ever want to visit Rajgir, then do not look for other options if a cottage at Pandu Pokhar is available on your travel date. To be honest, while booking my stay, I was a bit skeptical as my mother had been operated few months ago. But I spoke to the manager on phone and his tone was confident about the property and its facility. I made the booking and do not regret it. Travel to Pandu Pokhar- We reached Patna airport on 8th May at 5:45PM. We got a cab at 6:30PM. At around 9PM we called the reception to check the restaurant kitchen timings. They were closing in at 9:30PM. We said we would reach by 9:20 PM and requested them to take our dinner order. They accepted it. So, the service experience was great before we arrived there. So, it takes around 2:45 mins to reach there from patna airport. Stay at the resort Our check-in was smooth and the cottage was really nice and comfortable. The weather was really hot but the ac worked fine and the bed was good to relax your back after travel. The resort for its price is offering a 4 star service. The activities that a guest gets as complimentary with the stay is really nice. In a 4-star hotel apart from gym and swimming pool , you can do nothing. But here with kids you can ride a bike within the resort premises, do rappling , play snooker, dart, shooting, horse riding, and few other games. There also a nice amphitheater and place for meditation with a Buddha statue. Food at the resort - We were tired after our travel and the dinner to our surprise was as if we are having home made food. It was super delicious and indeed finger licking good. The morning breakfast and our 3rd day lunch was another treat for our taste buds. Special thanks to the kitchen and service staff. I noted every staff's name to mention them in the review. They all deserve salary raise and lots of appreciation for their work. Thanks to Vikash Kumar, Sikander Kumar, Akash Kumar, Luvkush Kumar, Vishal Kumar from the service team. And thanks to Prem Kumar, Ballu Kumar, Santosh Kumar from the kitchen team. Thank you to the entire resort team for making our stay memorable. I will definitely visit again.

The worst place in Rajgir. They only care about money, not about the people visiting. Hardly any staff is available, and the ones who are present behave very rudely. The ruins of Nalanda University, located in Bihar’s Nalanda district, are among the most iconic and historically significant sites in India. As one of the world’s first residential universities, Nalanda flourished between the 5th and 12th centuries CE, drawing scholars from China, Korea, Tibet, and Central Asia. Spread across more than a dozen hectares, the site is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of India’s ancient knowledge traditions. Nalanda is about 95 km southeast of Patna and approximately 15 km from Rajgir. The most convenient way to reach Nalanda from Patna is by road. You can hire a taxi directly from Patna, which takes around 2.5 to 3 hours via NH31 and NH120. Alternatively, trains are available from Patna Junction to Nalanda or nearby Bihar Sharif; from there, local autos or shared vehicles can take you to the university ruins. Bihar State Tourism buses also operate between Patna and Rajgir, with Nalanda as a stopover. For a cost-effective and flexible trip, many travelers prefer taking a morning train or bus and returning to Patna by evening. Once at the site, the main attractions to explore include the Great Stupa with its terraced structure, rows of monasteries with student cells, and lecture halls that once echoed with philosophical debates and Buddhist teachings. The preserved layout shows how Nalanda operated as a planned university complex, complete with libraries, prayer halls, and dormitories. Nearby, the Nalanda Archaeological Museum houses over 13,000 artifacts, including ancient sculptures, terracotta items, and Buddhist seals. Also worth visiting is the Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, a modern research institute established to revive Buddhist studies. For a deeper understanding of the site’s historical and cultural value, hiring a local guide is highly recommended. Knowledgeable guides are available at the site entrance and can be hired for as little as ₹200. These guides, many of whom are trained by the Archaeological Survey of India, provide rich narratives about the university’s academic system, its destruction by invaders, and the legends of renowned scholars like Xuanzang and Dharmapala. A guide can transform your visit from a silent walk through ruins into a vivid journey through one of ancient India’s greatest intellectual legacies.

Lomas Rishi Cave is a part of the Barabar Caves, which are the oldest surviving rock-cut caves in India dating back to the Maurya Empire. The cave is a remarkable example of rock-cut architecture and was built during the reign of Ashoka, dedicated to the Ajivika sect.
This is oldest surviving caves of Aajivakaas sect of that time which is also mentioned in buddist tipitak alongwith other sects. And donation to aajivakaas by king ashoka is also mentioned in ashoka inscription.✌️ which was adopted by Buddist later on as prototype for their caves.

The Barabar Caves, located in Bihar, India, are a remarkable testament to ancient Indian rock-cut architecture. Dating back to the 3rd century BCE, these caves are the oldest surviving examples of such craftsmanship and were used by ascetic groups like the Ajivikas. The caves, carved into granite hills, are notable for their astonishingly smooth, mirror-like interiors and precise geometric shapes. The Lomas Rishi Cave, with its beautifully carved doorway resembling wooden architecture, stands out as a masterpiece. The acoustic properties of the caves are particularly intriguing, enhancing the meditative atmosphere. Despite their age, the inscriptions, including those by Emperor Ashoka, remain well preserved. Visiting the Barabar Caves is like stepping into a piece of ancient history—raw, spiritual, and awe-inspiring. It's a must-visit for anyone interested in archaeology, history, or early Indian religious traditions.

The Barabar Hill Caves are the oldest surviving rock-cut caves in India, dating from the Maurya Empire (322–185 BCE), some with Ashokan inscriptions, located in the Makhdumpur region of Jehanabad district, Bihar, India, 24 km (15 mi) north of Gaya.[1 These caves are situated in the twin hills of Barabar (four caves) and Nagarjuni (three caves); caves of the 1.6 km (0.99 mi)-distant Nagarjuni Hill are sometimes singled out as the Nagarjuni Caves. These rock-cut chambers bear dedicatory inscriptions in the name of "King Piyadasi" for the Barabar group, and "Devanampiya Dasaratha" for the Nagarjuni group, thought to date back to the 3rd century BCE during the Maurya period, and to correspond respectively to Ashoka (reigned 273–232 BCE) and his grandson, Dasharatha Maurya The sculptured surround to the entrance to the Lomas Rishi Cave is the earliest survival of the ogee shaped "chaitya arch" or chandrashala that was to be an important feature of Indian rock-cut architecture and sculptural decoration for centuries. The form was a reproduction in stone of buildings in wood and other plant materials.[2][3] The caves were used by ascetics from the Ajivika sect,[2] founded by Makkhali Gosala, a contemporary of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, and of Mahavira, the last and 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. The Ajivikas had many similarities with Buddhism as well as Jainism.[5] Also present at the site are several rock-cut Buddhist and Hindu sculptures and inscriptions from later periods.[1] Most caves at Barabar consist of two chambers, carved entirely out of granite, with a highly polished internal surface, the "Mauryan polish" also found on sculptures, and exciting echo effects.[3] The caves were featured – located in a fictitious Marabar – in the book A Passage to India by English author E. M. Forster.

Gaya as we know happens to be the best place to conduct Hindu rituals for one's ancestors. We visited Gaya to perform annual shradh of my mother and performing pind-dan as posthumous ritual for departed soul of my parents and ancestors and on 10-11 Dec 2024. We spoke with Pandit Gautam Gayaav ji a month prior, in order to understand the types of rituals to be performed (as per our requirements) and the proper time to perform these rituals and accordingly, we booked a suitable date with him. We decided to stay for one night in Gaya and also perform all related poojas. We were given one of the designated rooms on the ground floor . The room was good, with a wide mattress and a bed for sleeping. The room was well-maintained with attached bathroom. After reaching Pandit ji’s place, he met us at our room and we discussed about the rituals which were to be conducted on the next day.Next day, we got up early and proceeded around 8 am by to a place dedicated for conducting rituals. The place has a lot of multiple structures constructed to conduct rituals and the tall trees and interspersed patches of grass, makes one feel that these rituals are being conducted in the midst of nature at the bank of river Falgu. The ritual went on for about 5 hours, we felt a sense of accomplishment paying obeisance to my parents and our ancestors. We were very thankful to Gautamji for all his efforts and for conducting the rituals to our satisfaction, and also for guiding us at key moments.

The infrastructure should have been better. Devotees from all over India come here for pind-dan ritual. The pandas are just trying to gather money from the pilgrims by hook or by crook.

The infrastructure is poor. The pandas and pandits involved in the pooja are loots. Beware of the broker pandas..they are real loots..please do not book in advance. It is advisable to come one day advance and see all the arrangements urself if you're coming here for pooja of more than a day. Chose the right pandit after meeting in person. See all the staying arrangements urself before finalising anything. The pooja is divine but the people involved in it are completely business minded. Its all test of patience.

Overcrowded and far too noisy. Pind daan should ideally be performed in a serene and silent atmosphere, which this place lacks. Add to it countless interferences during the proceedings by money hungry pandas who will pester you for information about the place of residence of your forefathers.

Bodhgaya Bodhi Tree is a significant site for Buddhists, believed to be a descendant of the original tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. The area has been important to Buddhists since the formation of the Buddhist community. The current Bodhi tree outside the Mahabodhi temple is not the original, but a direct descendant. It has been replaced many times and is adorned with marigold flower strings during religious ceremonies.
I have just returned from a 12 day tour of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. I am extremely grateful to have Fen from BODHITREE INDIA TRAVELS for planning, preparing and customising our itinerary and making it the best one possible. We were a group of 4 Family members travelling together. We travelled from Cochin-Munnar-Madurai-Periyar-Allepey- Cochin. We arrived in Cochin not knowing what to expect, but was overwhelmed and surprised by the excellent choice of hotels selected for us by Fen. On arrival in Cochin, we received a warm welcome from Fen, even though it was very early in the morning and he stayed in contact with me throughout our stay there, ensuring our well being and comfort. A very special and heartfelt thanks goes out to our Driver Sajan. He really made our long journeys easy and comfortable with his smooth and safe driving. he was very cooperative in heeding to our needs and very knowledgeable about the local sightseeing and markets. he was professional and helpful to us all the way. Sajan became our translator, photographer and a friend all rolled into one and we were very sad to say goodbye to him on the last day.

Mahabodhi Temple

The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya, also known as Buddha Gaya, holds great historical and religious significance as the place where Siddhartha Gautama attained Enlightenment under the sacred Mahabodhi Tree. The temple complex, dating back to the 3rd Century BC, is a major attraction for Buddhist pilgrims and tourists alike. The present Mahabodhi Tree is a descendant of the original tree taken to Sri Lanka in the 3rd Century BC.
Visiting the Mahabodhi Temple was one of the most amazing spiritual experiences of my life. The moment you enter the temple premises, you feel a deep sense of peace and positivity. The security here is extremely alert and well-organized, which gives a lot of comfort to visitors and allows you to focus completely on the spiritual experience rather than worrying about safety. The temple itself is breathtaking. The main structure is so beautifully designed that it reminded me of the traditional temples of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, grand, detailed, and full of intricate carvings. Inside, the statue of Lord Buddha is truly mesmerizing, sitting there for a while brings an indescribable sense of calm. One of the best things here is that there is hardly any crowd most of the time. You can visit the temple peacefully without the rush and chaos you usually find in other tourist places. With fewer people around, it feels more personal, quiet, and truly meditative. Another favorite part was the serene pond at the back of the temple. It’s so peaceful and perfect for quiet reflection. Walking around the complex, seeing monks from different countries meditating under the sacred Bodhi Tree, was a surreal experience, it felt like I was in a place beyond this world, like heaven itself.
Drabir K — Google review
“The place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment at a very young age beneath a Sacred Fig tree is truly remarkable. I fully recommend all tourists to visit this place with their children so that they can learn about Buddha’s life. When you see it with your own eyes, the experience is far more powerful than just reading about it in history books or religious stories.” There is also a conservative type transport service that is called "tam tam " in local language but they charged farely . It is fully free service and there is place where you can keep your phone in safe locker for free .

Mahabodhi Temple – A Spiritual Journey to Enlightenment Visiting the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya is like stepping into the heart of Buddhist history. As soon as you approach the temple complex, the serenity of the place envelops you. The main stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands majestically at the center, radiating peace and spiritual energy. The temple is surrounded by lush gardens and pathways that are perfect for quiet reflection. Pilgrims from all over the world visit here to meditate, chant, and pay homage to the sacred Bodhi Tree, under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. The atmosphere is calm yet profoundly moving, giving visitors a sense of inner peace. Inside the temple, intricate carvings and sculptures depict the life of Buddha, offering a glimpse into ancient artistry and devotion. Photography is restricted in some areas, which preserves the sanctity of the place. The temple complex also houses several smaller shrines and meditation spots, making it ideal for both spiritual seekers and history enthusiasts. Visiting hours are convenient, and the temple is well-maintained, with facilities like rest areas and guides available for a deeper understanding of its history. Whether you are a devotee, a tourist, or someone seeking peace, Mahabodhi Temple promises a memorable and soul-refreshing experience. Tip: Arrive early in the morning to witness the morning prayers and enjoy the calm before the crowd arrives.

Visiting Indosan Nipponji was a peaceful and beautiful experience. The temple’s architecture is colorful and unique, reflecting a mix of Japanese and Buddhist influences. The surroundings are calm, making it a perfect place to relax and reflect. One important thing that stood out was the lack of proper wheelchair accessibility, which I hope will improve in the future.

A serene and quite temple, the decor of which provides a archetypical example of Japanese temple construction (at least as I understand it). Please note that as of February 2023 the daily chanting and meditation sits are no longer happening, which is unsurprising in this late/post-pandemic period. Nonetheless, it seems that you are still free to come and do your own meditation sits if you want. It showcases Japanese paintings that depict important events of Buddha's life. Peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained.

Located very near to giant Buddha statue. It's excellent piece of architecture. As like other monastery this is also very colourful , photography is only allowed in premises but not allowed in temple. Excellent paintings, nice premises, very interesting stupas in premises. Very peaceful indeed. It has a chanting hall with Buddha statue. The Chanting happens in morning (5 to 6 in summer and 6 to 7 am in winter ) and evening for an hour ( 5 to 6 pm ) . This place also has school for kids, hospital as well. They do have special annual puja !!. It has a lot of painting inside the temple . There are cushions available in case you want to meditate.

The road is rather dusty as it seems there’s some construction going on. Although same can be said for most of Bodhgaya. The temple holds true to its Japanese architecture. However, it’s not as well maintained as the Bhutanese temple nearby. There’s a large stupa and bell as well as a small playground. The playground is meant for the kindergarteners schooling in the compound.

A very serene and calm Buddhist place of worship built by the Japanese. Very clean and neat both inside and out. Roof inside is made up of wood as in Japanese architecture.

This temple was built by the Japanese Daijokyo Society. It is situated right next to the Karma temple and on the way to the giant Buddha. The peaceful vibe of the temple is quite destroyed by the nuisance of beggars at the entrance. Having said that, definitely worth-visiting.

The Great Buddha Statue

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Inaugurated in 1989, the 25-meter-tall Buddha statue located near the Mahabohdi Temple is a major attraction for Buddhist pilgrims. The statue depicts Buddha seated in dhyana mudra on a lotus and is flanked by ten statues of his great disciples. Erected outdoors, this awe-inspiring statue stands at an impressive height of 19.5 meters and was complemented by the installation of ten additional standing statues in 1996.
Visiting The Great Buddha Statue in Gaya was truly impressive. The massive statue stands peacefully in the middle of a green and calm environment, giving a deep sense of peace and spirituality. The place is well-maintained and perfect for photography or just relaxing in a quiet atmosphere. Unlike many tourist spots, it was not overcrowded when I visited, so I could easily enjoy the whole area without much disturbance. The pathways are good, but some parts could be improved for better accessibility, especially for wheelchairs. This site is definitely a must-visit when traveling to Gaya.

Powerful Icon of Peace & Spirituality..! I visited the Great Buddha Statue in Bodh Gaya, and it truly lives up to its reputation. Standing about 25 meters (≈80 ft) tall, it shows the Buddha in meditation pose (Dhyana Mudra) seated on a lotus. The construction uses red granite and sandstone, and the craftsmanship is impressive…!

The Great Buddha statue at Bodh Gaya stands as a magnificent testament to India’s spiritual and artistic heritage. Towering over the sacred landscape where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment, it reflects the enduring legacy of Buddhist architecture and devotion. Crafted from sandstone and red granite, the statue’s serene expression captures the essence of calm reflection central to the Buddha’s teachings. Morning sunlight accentuates its fine detailing, highlighting the craftsmanship of those who built it as a symbol of peace and learning. Visiting this monument is not merely a visual experience, but a journey through history — to the heart of one of the world’s cultural and philosophical traditions.

*5.0 out of 5 stars* A Spiritual Oasis in Bodh Gaya I'm still under the spell of the Great Buddha Statue in Bodh Gaya! This magnificent 80-foot-tall statue is a must-visit for anyone seeking peace and enlightenment. The serene atmosphere, the intricate carvings, and the stunning architecture will leave you breathless. The statue, made of red granite and sandstone, depicts Lord Buddha in a meditative pose, surrounded by 10 smaller statues of his disciples. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the peaceful ambiance is palpable. I was impressed by the statue's sheer size and grandeur. The hollow interior contains 20,000 bronze Buddha images, and the spiral staircase leading to the chest offers a unique perspective. *Tips for Visitors:* - Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and crowds. - Take time to appreciate the intricate carvings and architecture. - Don't miss the 10 smaller statues of Buddha's disciples. *Highly Recommended:* If you're in Bodh Gaya, don't miss the Great Buddha Statue. It's a spiritual oasis that will leave you feeling peaceful and inspired.

The Buddha Smriti Museum (Buddha Smriti Park) in Patna is one of the most peaceful and spiritually enriching places in Bihar. Built in memory of Lord Buddha, this museum and park beautifully capture the essence of Buddhism and its deep connection with Bihar — the land where Buddha attained enlightenment. Located right in the heart of the city near Patna Junction, it’s easy to reach and offers a calm retreat from the busy streets outside. The centerpiece of the park is the magnificent Pataliputra Karuna Stupa, which houses sacred relics of Lord Buddha brought from different Buddhist countries. The architecture is stunning — modern yet deeply symbolic, with clean lines and a serene ambiance that invites silence and reflection. Inside, the museum features fascinating exhibits, sculptures, and interactive displays that depict Buddha’s life journey and teachings. The audio-visual presentations are very informative and make the experience even more engaging. The place is immaculately maintained, with beautiful gardens, meditation halls, and pathways lined with greenery. The atmosphere feels truly divine, especially in the evening when the entire complex lights up softly, creating a magical and meditative environment. If you’re visiting Patna, this is a must-see destination — not just for Buddhists but for anyone seeking peace, knowledge, or inspiration. The Buddha Smriti Museum perfectly blends spirituality, history, and modern design, making it one of the finest attractions in the city. 🌸🕊️

The Great Buddha Statue in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, is a truly awe-inspiring sight and a must-visit for its majestic scale and deep spiritual significance. Standing approximately 80 feet tall, this magnificent figure is one of the largest Buddha statues in India, depicting the Lord in a profound meditation pose (Dhyana Mudra). Constructed from a beautiful mix of sandstone and red granite, the statue exudes a powerful sense of peace and serenity. It is located in a well-maintained garden near the Daijokyo Buddhist Temple, providing a calm and meditative environment that perfectly complements the surrounding pilgrimage sites of Bodh Gaya. The sheer height and presence of the Buddha, seated upon a giant lotus, draw visitors from around the globe seeking a moment of contemplation and inspiration.

Nestled near Bodhgaya in Bihar, India, the Root Institute for Wisdom Culture is a serene retreat offering basic accommodations and a range of courses on Tibetan Buddhism, meditation, and yoga. The institute's proximity to the Mahabodhi Stupa makes it an ideal place for contemplation and spiritual practice. Despite not participating in Buddhist courses, visitors found solace in the tranquil environment and appreciated the opportunity to meditate.
Very beautiful place! ✨ Meeting intellectuals and discussing different views on life is truly making a difference. I really appreciate it. 🙏

Root institute is a Tibetan Buddhist centre that offers a place to stay, retreat, study, and participate in buddhist courses. There are a great number of residence buildings on the property for accommodation. Accommodation types available include multi-bed dormitory, triple room, double room, single room with common washroom, or single room with private washroom. Three vegetarian meals are included that are served in the canteen at 7:30AM, 12PM, and 6:30PM. In February (high season), I booked a single room with a common washroom for 1000 rupees a night. If you stay a month or longer, you can apply a 25% discount. During the winter season, there are teachers and lamas who come in and either host a week course or give a dhamma teaching during the day. There are also several drop-in events/pujas scheduled here every so often. It appears that anyone is welcome to come and participate in these drop-ins, even some where traditionally I think people would need to have received some initiation first. It appears that isn't important here. Interesting to note that Root Institute's spiritual guide, Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche passed away in 2023, and since has been without any direct successor. In February it was a bit noisy here at night. This is because there are some venues neighboring areas that appear to host some big events and sometimes play loud music throughout the night. I recommend earplugs for sleeping. Bodhgaya is not specifically the best place to have a quiet environment for meditation though. It is more of a pilgrimage town. Even the lama who recently came to give a teaching here said he doesn't recommend Bodhgaya for finding peace and seclusion. That said, it is still fairly peaceful within the two gompas (tibetan temple) here for meditation during the day.

I was at root institute recently. Excellent place spiritual seekers to meditate and connect one's inner self to the cosmic world. Food and facilities are also very good. After a flight from Vancouver, Canada, with several days in Delhi and then several more days in Varanasi, a long train ride to Gaya and a 3am tuk tuk ride to Bodhgaya…. I definitely needed some peace and quiet from the last 10 days and this is exactly whaat I received from my stay at Root Institute. Even though I did not take part in any Buddhist courses i felt welcomed. My room was a perfect. I found the time and place to practice my meditation and to calm my mind. The food was great. My stay allowed me time to visit friends get some dental work completed in Gaya and some much needed Ayurvedic care less than a 5 minute walk from my cabin. When I left after 12 days i was totally relaxed and ready to take on the rest of my vacation in India before heading come. I will definitely return to this wonderful center and its wonderful staff again.

The best place to be for self reflection and also self imposed retreat. Their canteen has been a saviour with regular timing to eat. Abhishek V — Google review
The Deo Surya Mandir in Aurangabad, Bihar is a fascinating place for several reasons: Solar Shrine: Unlike most Sun temples facing east, Deo Surya Mandir faces west, towards the setting sun. This unique orientation makes it a standout place for Sun worship. Historical Significance: The temple's exact origins are shrouded in mystery. Legends claim Lord Vishwakarma built it in one night, while evidence suggests its presence around the 7th or 8th century CE. Inscriptions point to renovations by King Bhairavendra in the 15th century. Chhath Puja Center: Deo Surya Mandir is one of the most sacred places for Chhath Puja celebrations in Bihar. A large pond surrounds the temple, adding to its beauty during the festival. However, unlike the wide-open spaces of the Ganges in Patna, reaching the temple by vehicle becomes difficult during Chhath due to the large crowds. Architectural Blend: The temple's architecture is a unique mix of Nagari, Dravidian, and Vesara styles. A dome with a gold urn placed on top adds to its grandeur. So, Deo Surya Mandir offers a place steeped in history, with a unique architectural style, and a central point for Chhath Puja celebrations, though with some access limitations during the festival

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Visiting this ancient Hindu temple was a truly captivating experience. As one of the oldest temples, it holds a profound historical significance. The architectural marvel speaks volumes about the craftsmanship of its builders. The temple's resilience is commendable, having withstood the test of time, including a period of demolition during the Mughal era. Despite the challenges, the spirit and sacred aura of this place prevail, reminding us of the enduring cultural legacy. Exploring its sacred grounds transports you to a bygone era, offering a glimpse into the deep-rooted traditions and spirituality that have been cherished for centuries. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking a connection with India's rich cultural tapestry.

The Deo Sun temple of Aurangabad, Bihar, is located 14 km from the district headquarters. This temple is a solar shrine dedicated to the god Surya. It is popular across the country for its Chhath puja. The temple follows the traditional style of Nagara architecture. It is one of the few west-facing Sun temples. When we enter the temple premises we can see two huge Shivlangas and some unique shaped square stones craved like flowers below the giant bell. The sanctum santorum of the temple features idols of the lord Surya, Vishnu and Avalokiteshvara. The temple pavilion is now filled with colours hiding its actual beauty. If you want to see the real beauty of the entrance you can see this in the painting of Daniells and the photographs by Peppe. The main attraction of this temple is its main structure which is 100ft tall with beautifully carved Amalika and Kalash on the top. The stones used in the temple are the same used in the Umga temple. People believe that these two temples are built by the same person overnight. This is briefly explained by the historian and author Premendra Mishra in his book "The Mysterious Hills Umga" with logical facts about how temples were made overnight back then. According to Premendra Mishra, this temple is 200 to 600 years older than the temple of Umga. Still, there are many theories regarding the dating of this temple which is not cleared in any inscription found here. But according to local legends, the temple was built by King Aila 949126 years ago. But as we see the architecture of the temple which is of Nagara style is a maximum of 1400 years old. Historians believe that this temple was erected in the 6th-7th century by the Chandravanshi king.

From Car parking near Manjhpr kund it's a 5 minutes walk towards view point.During heavy rain, forest guards closed the roads sometimes for safety reasons. This waterfall must be visited during rainy season to see the vastness.

It's an ideal spot for picnics, outdoor parties, or just to chill out with friends. What makes Dhua Kund special is its beautiful waterfall, where you can actually take a refreshing dip. The experience of bathing under the waterfall is nothing short of magical. The natural surroundings add to the charm. Getting to Dhua Kund is an adventure in itself – you’ll need to offload and trek a bit, which adds to the thrill and makes the journey even more memorable. A Grand Monument of History and Architecture! Visited on: 27 June 2025 This place left me awestruck! The tomb of Sher Shah Suri in Sasaram is not just a historical monument — it’s a masterpiece of Indo-Islamic architecture. Surrounded by a serene water tank and accessible via a beautiful stone bridge, the structure stands proudly with its grand domes and intricate carvings. The atmosphere inside is calm and reflective, with multiple smaller tombs and well-preserved interiors. The craftsmanship and symmetry are stunning. The tomb stands majestically in the middle of an artificial lake, giving it a striking island-like appearance. It is built primarily of red sandstone and features stunning domes, arches, and intricate carvings. The central dome rises to a height of about 122 feet, showcasing a brilliant blend of Afghan and Persian architectural styles. Its octagonal structure symbolizes balance and harmony, and the stone causeway leading to the tomb adds a dramatic and serene touch. The Sher Shah Suri Tomb is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or offbeat travel destinations. It may not receive as much attention as some other monuments in India, but it is undoubtedly one of the most awe-inspiring and culturally significant structures in the country. The Rajdari and Devdari waterfalls are found in the Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary was established to conserve Asiatic lions and though their population has dwindled, there are several species of animals and birds that live here. Apart from the animals and birds, the sanctuary is home to several other attractions, more notably the Rajdari and Devdari waterfalls. The crystal clear waters, gurgling over the rocks present a breathtaking sight. The scenic, tranquil surroundings lend a sense of mysticism to the experience. People usually come here for a day trip and though there is no accommodation here, there are several eateries here to serve snacks and drinks.
