Firoz Shah Palace Complex

Heritage building
Sights & Landmarks
Remains of a 1350s complex of red sandstone with a mosque, underground apartments & other buildings.
Gujri Mahal in Hisar, Haryana, was built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in the 14th century. He constructed it for his beloved wife, Gujri, who was from a local pastoral community. Reason for Construction: When Firoz Shah Tughlaq was on a hunting expedition in the Hisar region, he fell in love with Gujri. However, she refused to move to Delhi, so he built Gujri Mahal for her in Hisar itself. The palace was part of the larger Hisar-e-Firoza fort complex, which he developed to establish Hisar as a strategic and administrative center. Today, Gujri Mahal is in ruins, but its historical significance remains as a symbol of medieval architecture and Tughlaq’s devotion to his queen.
Sandeep B — Google review
Known originally as ‘Hisar-e-Firoza’, this large palace complex was built by the Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1354 CE. It consists of various palace buildings, stables, a Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), hamaam (or bath chambers), a mosque (the Lat ki Masjid), granary, and other buildings. Unfortunately, except for the Lat ki Masjid, nothing is signposted, so you wander through with no idea of which building is supposed to be what. There are no guides around either, so all you can do is get a feel of how vast this place once was. No entry fee is charged for the palace complex. Note that Google Maps incorrectly shows the entrance to the palace complex as being through a narrow lane branching off from the main road. The correct entrance is on the main road, very close to a large bulging bastion beside a foot overbridge.

Firoz Shah palace complex (Hisar-e-Firoza) is an archaeological complex located in modern-day Hisar, in the Haryana state of India, built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq of the Delhi Sultanate in 1354 AD. It is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The original town of Hisar was a walled settlement inside of the fort. The Jahaj Kothi Museum, a past residence of George Thomas, sits inside the Firoz Shah palace complex. The complex contains the Lat ki Masjid mosque and an Ashokan pillar. Gurjari Mahal, another palace nearby, was also built by Firoz Shah for his wife Gurjari in 1356. Construction began in 1354 CE, supervised by Firoz Shah. Stone was brought from the hills of Mahendragarh to build the ramparts, which were surrounded by a protective moat. A tank inside the complex was used to refill the moat. The complex was completed in 1356 after two and a half years, and Firoz Shah ordered his courtiers to build their palaces within the walls of the fort. Restoration work began on the palace in 1924 and has gradually continued since. The complex has been declared a Centrally Protected Monument by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Firoj shah ka mahal (हिसार-ए-फिरोज़ा, Hisar-e-Firoza) is located in the city of Hisar in Haryana, India. It was built by Firuz Shah Tughlaq in 1354 AD. The original town of Hisar was a walled settlement inside the fort with four gates, Delhi gate, Mori gate, Nagauri Gate and Talaqi Gate. The palace consists of a mosque known as Lat ki Masjid. Lat is a sandstone pillar about 20 feet high and was earlier an Ashokan pillar.

Liked thoroughly my time here. Definitely a crown of the city of Hisar. Can spend at least 30 mins - 1 hour exploring the labyrinths of the compound. Kids will surely love to explore and be allowed to do so. Palace complex has been renovated and much better preserved now. A must go if you are visiting Hisar.

Very Bad Theatre Experience (Audi 1). The screen was not at all clear in 3D. The sound was too low and also the interval was just 2 minutes long. How would you expect to use the washroom or buy some food in that time. Please upgrade the screen quality and speakers quality.

LOHARU FORT IS NOW TEMPORARY CLOSED BY GOVT. BECAUSE FORT IS DILAPIDATED. Nawab Ahmed Baksh Khan, nawab of Loharu is ruler of the fort.
PUSHPENDRAA T — Google review
Worst experience. As soon I visit this place I find that the present condition is so far different from the pics available on google. I don't know why the government haven't paid any attention so far to maintain this fort. Every part of this fort is broken or damaged. Archaeological Survey of India should pay attention here to improve the conditions.
Sudhir P — Google review
Only ruins left of what was a fort once! It definitely has the potential to become one of the top attraction points in and around Loharu. The park adjacent to the fort provides some space for leisure.
Himanshu Y — Google review
Not a magnificent view. A park is built around the fort, which makes it less scenic
Shivam V — Google review
Once being the pride of Loharu, the Fort has been diminished into ruins. Loharu Fort was built in the year 1570 CE by Thakur Arjun Singh.  Rao Shekha had originally divided Shekhawati into 33 thikanas, of which the Fort was 33rd. It was then a small village with a kuccha, a mud fort, and stayed as such until 1800 CE. The Fort was in the hands of later Nawabs of Loharu until 1971 when the Late Nawab Aminuddin Ahmed Khan sold it to the Government of Haryana. Since these buildings were uninhabited, all the north-wing had collapsed as was part of the east-wing. Only the south-wing of the fort (containing the Farukh Manzil) survives, and that too went into a very dilapidated state.

Ancient rainwater harvesting and storage structure built by a wealthy businessman of Churu. The tank boundaries are embellished with chhatris with traditional architecture. It's a heritage structure & worth visiting when in a visit to Churu. However, it has fallen into disuse & the water is dirty, the approach road is a dirt track& there aren't any facilities in the vicinity.

June 2023 trip to Churu and Sethani ka johara comes up in every search of interesting places to visit in Churu. We really felt sad visiting this place. So dirty. This place is so beautiful in pictures. But reality is different. Only carelessness of the people who frequent the place. We should be proud of our heritage and save such National monuments. Dear responsible authorities, please take some action.

The ground floor houses galleries showcasing Rajasthani culture, including costumes, turbans, musical instruments, and models of forts. Well restored haveli with museum-like exhibits that give some idea of life then. Clean space, toilets, curator cum guide, a folk singer who will play a tune for a small fee and affordable entry tickets will complete the tour of this adorable place. We went there for visit during the weekend. This haveli is located in the heart of Nawalgarh. Once you enter around the area of Nawalgarh then you will feel that you have travelled back in time. There are a lot pf havelis in this area and this one is one of the best. It has been preserved as a small museum but there is plenty of stuff to watch out for. It carries heritage of Rajasthan in the form of wall paintings which is really amazing to watch.

LE PRINCE HAVELI

Apartment complex
Sights & Landmarks
Elegant guesthouse offering ornate quarters in a 19th-century building, plus an outdoor pool & bar.
Beautiful Haveli with amazing fresco paintings and ambiance. Owned by a French family who bought it from the original Indian ownner 16 years back and took 6 years to restore to it's present glory. At present a caretaker manages the property and owner comes once a year from France. Entry ticket is 100rs and open from 10am to 6pm.
Rushir S — Google review
I tried to and wanted to visit this Haveli during my trip to Fatehpur Shekhawati but I could not as it was closed. I could just see the outer walls of the Haveli. Though, there was a board outside the haweli which says, “Open everyday from 8 am to 6 pm.” I read about it online that a French artist has restored the haweli, there were no signs of restoration from outside. It looked to me in ruined state. Locals informed me that it never gets opened after COVID. Sometimes, a foreign lady comes to visit the haweli and that’s it. Instead, you can visit nearby havelis. Though, very few havelis are available for tourists if you are an Indian. Hardly, you will get access to 1 or 2 havelis to visit.
Deepesh P — Google review
Excellent old style marwari Haveli. The fresco work and restoration done. The staff is friendly and good. Mr Sanjay however could learn to smile! Good bar and dining room ambience. Cons: 1. Lack of acceptance of credit cards despite it being mentioned on the booking website 2. No service of tea coffee in room or kettles in room 3. Toilet is extremely small and shower too. Super uncomfortable. Book and stay only at prince 1 &2 rooms. Rest are not advisable.

Nearly 200 years old place. Being frescoed. Good place to stay for a couple of days. Food taste like home cooked. Drinks available at the bar. Rooms are old times. But No place for car parking in the premises, it has to be done outside on the road.

Is this closed ? All doors are closed. It’s completely isolated and not maintained from outside.

Crammed with history. Come for a tour, understand the historical significance of the place that led to the creation of these havelis. Roam around the fully restored haveli. And stay back for lunch / dinner. Staying in this Haveli itself is also a good option.

Laxmangarh Fort

This place is closed now as the ownership has changed but when I visited, the place was huge and very pretty. Walking wasn’t a hassle but there were a few upward slanting ways to go through before reaching the main entrance. There is also a Balaji mandir at the entrance of the fort so do take his blessings. The caretaker gave a personalised tour of the place when I visited, thank you for that. He was sweet and polite and gave info about the place. It was also neat and tidy with the paint still intact on the inside. Wish it was open now too but it isn’t. Lucky I got to see it before it closed.

You cannot enter the fort as it's not under ASI or state archeology, it's privately owned. There is a small Balaji temple inside the premises till which is where you are allowed. You can visit the fort only if you are able to get special permission from the owners.

Step Back in Time - Laxmangarh Fort, Sikar My recent visit to Laxmangarh Fort in Sikar, Rajasthan, was nothing short of a journey through history. This imposing architectural marvel transported me back in time, offering a glimpse into the region's rich heritage and royal past. From the moment I entered the fort's gates, I was captivated by the intricate detailing on the walls and the grandeur of the structure. The craftsmanship and architecture of the fort are truly commendable, reflecting the artistic excellence of a bygone era. Exploring the fort's various sections, including the palace, courtyards, and corridors, felt like unraveling the layers of a fascinating story. The well-preserved frescoes and murals adorned with vibrant colors and intricate designs were a testament to the artistic sensibilities of the time. The panoramic view from the fort's vantage points was nothing short of breathtaking. It provided a sweeping panorama of the town of Sikar and its surroundings, giving me a unique perspective of the region's landscape.

No Benefit to visit the place...I went to the place and it was completely locked...only Balaji Mandir Of Fort was Open...rest was locked and nobody was allowed to visit or enter in the Fort Interior
Sandeep S — Google review
It has absolutely nothing to offer for tourists and absolutely not worth making a visit. It is a private property and you can only access the stairs to a point publicly. Absolutely recommended to skip this fort for a planned visit. Water logging is complimentary if you visit the fort😀😀

It is a private property so we they don't give us permission to visit. But their is temple inside it we can go there but it is very close just near the door. So can just see the city from here which you can see in my photo's.

Shree Salasar Balaji Mandir, Rajasthan

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Built in 1754 AD, this bustling Hindu temple provides traditional rituals, feasts & ceremonies.
I recently visited Salasar Balaji Dham, and it was a very peaceful and satisfying experience. The darshan was smooth and didn’t take much time – around 10 to 15 minutes, which made the whole visit very comfortable. The temple atmosphere is truly divine, and being in front of Balaji Maharaj felt very special. One thing I really appreciated was the parking facility. On normal days, except Tuesdays and Saturdays when the crowd is very heavy, there is plenty of parking space available near the temple. This makes the journey a lot easier, especially if you are coming with family. The temple surroundings are also well managed, and the shops around make it convenient to buy prasad or other items. Overall, my visit was memorable and left me with a sense of calm and positivity. It’s definitely a place worth visiting, whether you are going for darshan, spiritual peace, or just to experience the energy of such a sacred place. I would highly recommend planning your visit on weekdays for a smoother experience and to avoid the heavy rush.

The temple is beautifully maintained, and being in the presence of Balaji Ji and the Akhand Jyoti fills the heart with faith and positivity. I noticed that while some people were allowed to go near the statue of Balaji and close to the Akhand Jyoti area. The temple, known for its miracles and peaceful atmosphere, features traditional Rajasthani architecture and offers facilities for pilgrims, making it a significant spiritual and cultural landmark in Rajasthan. The visit was spiritually enriching🙏

Salasar Balaji Mandir, located in the Churu district of Rajasthan, is one of the most famous temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Popularly known as Salasar Dham, this holy shrine holds immense religious significance and attracts devotees from all over India throughout the year. The temple is renowned for its unique idol of Lord Hanuman, which has a distinct beard and mustache, making it different from other depictions found in most temples. The spiritual atmosphere of Salasar Balaji Mandir is truly mesmerizing. As soon as you enter the temple premises, the aura of devotion, the sound of bhajans, and the continuous chanting of “Jai Shree Ram” fill your heart with divine energy. The temple is especially crowded on Tuesdays and Saturdays, as these days are considered very auspicious for Lord Hanuman. Despite the rush, the arrangements for darshan and offerings are well-managed by the temple committee, ensuring that devotees have a smooth spiritual experience. Apart from its religious importance, the temple complex is also known for its cleanliness, spacious surroundings, and facilities for devotees, including resting areas, drinking water, and prasad distribution. The nearby market offers devotional items, souvenirs, and traditional Rajasthani food, making the visit even more memorable. Every year, two big fairs are organized here during Chaitra Purnima and Ashwin Purnima, attracting lakhs of devotees. During these times, the temple town comes alive with vibrant energy, devotional songs, and cultural programs. Overall, a visit to Salasar Balaji Mandir is not just a religious trip but also a soulful experience that leaves one feeling blessed, peaceful, and spiritually uplifted. It is undoubtedly one of the must-visit temples in Rajasthan for devotees of Lord Hanuman and seekers of divine blessings. Would you like me to make this review sound more formal like a travel magazine article, or more personal like a devotee’s experience?

Salasar Dham is located in Churu district in Rajasthan and is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The key highlight of this shrine is that Hanuman is portrayed with a beard and a moustache. The idol also has knotty eyebrows and beautiful eyes as well has a tilak on its forehead. One noteworthy aspect of the Salasar Balaji temple is that it is believed to be a swayambhu shrine or a temple with an idol that manifested by itself. Worshippers also consider the temple to be a Shakti Sthal or a place of power. The temple is also claimed to be a place where the wishes of devotees come true. History: Long ago on a Tuesday in the Shravan month on Navami, a farmer from a village called Asota in Rajasthan was ploughing his field. His plough suddenly struck something hard and the farmer could not move it any further. When the farmer inspected the area, he saw a stone there. The farmer removed the stone and started digging further only to find an idol of Hanuman. It was exactly at that moment, the farmer’s wife came to the fields with lunch for the farmer. She had brought churma made using bajra for his lunch. The farmer fed some churma to the idol also. Since then, it is a customary practice among devotees to feed the deity in the shrine with some bajra churma. Parking could be difficult to find.

Salasar Balaji Salasar Balaji, also known as Salasar Dham, is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located in the Churu district of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites for devotees of Lord Hanuman and attracts thousands of visitors every day, especially on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and during the annual fairs held in the months of Chaitra (March–April) and Ashwin (September–October). According to legend, a farmer named Ginthala from Asota village found an idol of Hanuman in his field after a divine dream. The idol was later enshrined in Salasar, where it miraculously became heavier, signifying the Lord’s wish to stay there. Since then, Salasar Dham has become a sacred center of faith, devotion, and miracles. The temple’s unique idol features a beard and mustache, which distinguishes it from other Hanuman temples. Devotees believe that praying here fulfills wishes, removes obstacles, and grants strength and courage. The temple complex is beautifully maintained and surrounded by shops, dharamshalas, and facilities for pilgrims. People from all over India visit Salasar Balaji on foot, often as part of a spiritual journey from Khatu Shyam Ji to Salasar, covering nearly 80 kilometers. The atmosphere of the temple is filled with divine energy, chants of “Jai Hanuman,” and the unshakable faith of millions.

This temple is incredibly peaceful and soothing to the mind. Located at the top of the mountain, it offers a serene experience. I highly recommend going by bike, as you'll feel the refreshing wind on your face and get to enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountains along the way, including the roundabout. The journey itself adds to the charm of the visit!

Worth a visit. Best time to visit - winter Mode of transport - four-wheeler Best time of visit - day light ( winter sun ) Roads are dangerous and are not well protected by the edges, make sure that a professional is driving. Reckless driving can be deadly. Once you reach the top, strong winds will welcome you with dozens of monkeys. Stay away from the apes. Visit all the temples as they are centuries old.you will find our culture in their architecture. No entry fee / parking fee. The view from the top is breathtaking. The entire Sikar is visible alongside nearby towns.
