Outdoor Activities
Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud is a serene and picturesque beach destination located at the northern point of Luzon. With its sparkling clear aquamarine waters and powdery white sand, it offers a tranquil atmosphere perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. The beach is known for its calm and clear waters, making it ideal for various water activities such as surfing or riding the Banana Boat.
Great looking lagoon! Feel the breeze and enjoy the nature's best located in the northernmost of the Philippines ❤️ We stayed here in Blue Lagoon for one night. In the morning, we witnessed a very calming sunrise that can be seen in the horizon of the lagoon. You'll get to see the windmills too located on the mountain top. If you enjoy both water and landscapes, this is one of the best looking place to visit in Ilocos Norte. This location is perfect if you would also like to visit Bantay Abot Cave and the famous long and winding road of Pagudpud Viaduct/Bridge.
Heide G — Google review
Blue Lagoon will always be one of my favorite beaches. The first time I visited, the place was full of life—resorts were open, tourists were everywhere, and the beach was vibrant and well-maintained. It felt like one of the best destinations in the north. But coming back now… it feels completely different. The once-busy shoreline now feels like a ghost town. Most of the resorts are closed, only a few are still operating, and the energy that made the place so special seems to have faded. Nakakalungkot. The community here has been hit hard—very vulnerable sila sa extreme weather. Because of the frequent storms over the past years, it’s become harder for the locals to maintain the area and keep businesses running. Still, the natural beauty remains—the beach, the waves, the view—it’s all still there. But it’s clear this place needs support. I hope someday it bounces back, because Blue Lagoon deserves to be experienced at its best.
Janu P — Google review
You’ll get a beautiful photo angle on the way down to the beach. The view is stunning—the water is crystal clear and blue, and the sand is fine and white. A picture-perfect tropical spot!
Igo R — Google review
Absolutely stunning sunrise viewpoint—watching the sky light up over the calm sea was pure magic. The beach is clean, peaceful, and blissfully uncrowded—a perfect spot to relax and soak in nature’s beauty. The atmosphere is so serene, it feels like a private escape. However, while the water looked inviting, our swim was cut short by tiny fish that gave little surprise bites—not painful, but enough to keep us from staying in too long. Still, the overall experience was fantastic and incredibly refreshing.
Diana G — Google review
The time me and my cousin arrived had a sunset! It was so beautiful that i forgot to take a picture lol 😂 and the ocean water was so cold that a wave even showed up and it even dragged me into the sand! And here are the photos :

Nice place, but can't enjoy because of the storm. The upper resort is looked like been bankrupt. How sad to see it's close
Rose C — Google review
The utmost northern point in Luzon! Tucked in a hidden valley with windmills and nice beach front, this spot is perfect for beach bum and people who love serene! No entrance fee required but need to put on sunscreen of course to avoid sun burn! Lol Nice feeling be in an awesome place like this, the beach known as “blue lagoon” since its water is perfectly in different shades of blue. The seafront is facing South China Sea, Taiwan and westwards Hong Kong. I couldn’t say anything more with this place! A must try when you are in Ilocos!
Jay A — Google review
Arguably one of the best beaches here in the country. We came here on a Friday Morning (10 am and stayed until 2 pm) and the beach was relatively empty! We were the only ones there for a few hours. There were many different amenities including food stalls, cottages, restaurants and souvenir shops. However, most of the resort is abandoned so accomodation is a bit of a miss. Still, the beach itself is the main selling point! Cool winds, strong waves and pearl-white sand makes this a must-see in Pagudpud.

Bantay Abot Cave, which means "mountain with a hole," is a picturesque natural wonder in Pagudpud. The cave was once a tunnel through a headland covered in lush vegetation, offering stunning views of the rocky beach and strong waves. Unfortunately, an earthquake in the 1980s damaged the cave. Despite this, it remains an enchanting spot with its lustrous vegetative cover and echoes of waves and bird chirping inside.
Nice spot for picture! Aside from the rock itself, there is a spot where in the sea will serve as your background. No activities at all. Nice spot for picture only. Entrance is P20/head.
Kristine C — Google review
We arrived here on a high tide so we were unable to see the hole on the cave. We werent also able to get down to the shores because the waters high and the wind was a bit strong. The shoulder is big enough to be used as parking space and there's this big sign for photos. No fees.
Belle — Google review
Lovely place,I had fun looking at the view. But I would suggest being really careful on the way because it gets really hot when going there but then when you're near the cave you need to be careful on where you're stepping or you might trip if the rocks are wet. You also need to be careful when going up the cave because it's steep. Overall I would recommend it to young people or people who are fit enough when going up the cave
Jlo G — Google review
Our visit to Bantay Abot Cave in Pagudpud was a refreshing and memorable experience. This natural rock formation with a hole in the middle looked like something straight out of a postcard. The view from the cave was stunning—you could see the waves crashing against the rocky shore and the endless stretch of blue sea meeting the sky. Even though the walk to the cave was a bit rocky, it added to the adventure. The breeze was cool, the sound of the waves was calming, and the whole area had a peaceful vibe. It’s not a place for swimming, but it’s definitely worth the stop for the scenery and photos. Bantay Abot Cave is one of those simple yet beautiful spots that really leaves an impression.
Tin L — Google review
Such a beautiful cave. Hoping to visit again this place in Ilocos Norte. 🩵
Dahlia L — Google review
The cave is easily visible from the highway, making it a quick and scenic stop. We didn’t have to go up close to appreciate its natural beauty—it’s impressive even from a distance!
Igo R — Google review
Bantay Abot Cave offers fantastic photo opportunities, particularly the unique rock formation with a central hole that's undeniably Instagrammable. However, the slippery conditions demand extreme caution when walking. Adding clear signage about the hazardous footing would significantly improve visitor safety.

Waterfalls
Nestled in the heart of a lush tropical forest, Kabigan Falls is a breathtaking natural wonder in Pagudpud, Philippines. A 120-foot cascade of cool, fresh water flows into a serene basin, inviting visitors to take a refreshing swim. The trail to the falls winds through rocky terrain and dense foliage, offering an immersive experience in one of the country's few remaining virgin rainforests. Guided tours lead hikers on a 1.
Cold crystal clear waters..u have to hire for a tourguide altho treks are very obvious u will not b lost going up but its their living so just think u helped them by getting one:5pax.not allowed to cook up there.bring packed food.keep it clean no littering.easy climb.
Hard R — Google review
100 entrance fee each person with a 10mins trek going to the falls. Refreshing cold water will welcome you.
Ysa D — Google review
Easy trail to waterfall however must be able to climb steps up and down, and cross log footbridges. Must stop at entrance to pay small fee and a tour guide will lead you in and out. Less than 1 mile round trip.
Jackie T — Google review
The water is so refreshing to swim. Free of charge. Has to walk 5 minutes from parking. Tour guide most are senior and you can pay as much as you want.
Lly 9 — Google review
The falls themselves are quite nice and the water is cool and refreshing, perfect for a swim. However, you are required to hire a local guide to take you there, and the fee felt a bit expensive for what it was, especially for a solo traveler. The 30-minute walk to the falls is easy and goes through some nice rice fields, but the mandatory guide policy was a bit of a downside for me. The experience was good, but be prepared for the extra cost.
Arzz P — Google review
This could be hiked by different ages. We went here with my parents and kids ages 2,3,5 and 8. The entire hike going up took about 30-35 minutes. There’s some water with rocks to cross so prepare to get wet. I managed to save my sneakers from being soaked but you have to be physically jumping from one rock to the other. Our guide was very helpful assisting the kids and my parents. Lots of shades so even if it was hot it wasn’t that terrible. The entire place is very clean and not trashed. It was well worth it. Will come back to hike this trail again. The kids loved it.
Shiela G — Google review
A wonderful place that one should paid a visit. My tour guide was Maam Jenny, she is a housewife and very energetic. We came here around 2:30 in the afternoon. You have to pay 200.00 for the whole trek. Its a 15min walk and trek. At the end you will find the magnificent water falls, Kabigan from its name Kaibigan then changed to kabigan which means to attract! Strike a pose and off to go for swim or not! Lol
Jay A — Google review
Very nice place, you can swim in it if you want, it's very refreshing. Be careful it pulls you towards the waterfall. There is a changing cabin. Only 15 minutes to walk. You need a Tourguide to go there. The guides are already there and waiting for you😊 I don't got a ticket and they count me 100 pesos.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Patapat Viaduct is a 1.3 km elevated concrete bridge that offers stunning views of the Pasaleng Bay and connects the Maharlika Highway from Laoag, Ilocos Norte to the Cagayan Valley Region. It was built to address landslides and vehicular accidents in the area, providing a safe passage along winding coastal mountains.
I’m so glad this place is far from the city. It feels untouched, peaceful, and full of natural beauty. Parang reward siya para sa mga taong willing maglakbay just to see something this special. Not everyone gets to experience a place like this—and maybe that’s a good thing. Kasi places like Patapat Viaduct deserve to be preserved and protected. Hindi siya para sa lahat, kundi para sa mga marunong mag-appreciate ng ganda ng kalikasan. The view, the sea, the road curving along the mountains—everything feels surreal. It’s one of those rare places that make you feel small in the best way. If you’re lucky enough to be here, take it all in—and help keep it the way it is.
Janu P — Google review
The scenery never fails me as an Ilocano. I brought a friend with me (Taiwanese) and he was really amazed by what the North can offer. The beach is stunning and the viaduct is as astonishing as ever.
John D — Google review
The Patapat Viaduct, located in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, is a scenic coastal bridge that connects the northernmost part of Luzon. It harmoniously combines engineering and nature, offering travelers stunning views of the West Philippine Sea and surrounding landscapes. Beyond being a functional roadway, it has become a landmark that represents both progress and natural beauty in the region.
Anthony S — Google review
Road-Bridge-Aqueduct-Seawall, you could really appreciate public construction that is well made, planned and built to last.
Vincent G — Google review
Driving along the Patapat Viaduct felt like a scene from a dream where the mountains kissed the sea and the winding road seemed to stretch endlessly into the horizon. It was one of those unforgettable moments where nature and man-made beauty came together perfectly.
Hansel P — Google review
I love the scenic view especially at sunset, and i even visited that place again after 6 WHOLE YEARS! Plus, it's even more fun with my cousin (ofc she invited me)
LeynardxPlayz_ Y — Google review
Today, my wife and I suddenly decided to hop on our motorcycle and ride. No itinerary, no packed bags, just the desire to go somewhere and breathe. From Aparri, di namin namalayan na nakarating na pala kami dito. This roadtrip wasn’t something we planned — it just happened. This place has a nice view of the sea and tourists usually stop-by to take pictures. Include us.
Robby O — Google review
The last time I visited this place was back in 2001. I didn’t really appreciate it back then since I was still a kid. But now, I’m truly amazed by the beauty of the view. If our relatives hadn’t come to visit us here in Ilocos Norte, I probably wouldn’t have had the chance to see it again. Highly recommended! The craftsmanship is top-notch—truly a Marcos signature. A lasting Marcos legacy!

Magapit Suspension Bridge

I just love the idea of how the bridge was created...it reminds me of the United States' San Francisco Bridge... I wish people from the provincial Government or DPWH to restore its original color as its rusty to look already in some parts... I highly suggest to paint it with some kind of stunning to look at as it has already have that kind of wow factor.. #bridge
Trip F — Google review
Local government should improve and make this a destination. I walked early morning. Pedestrian path not visible from a distant. Perhaps a park near the bridge and more organized shops. Not that much to do nearby. I was looking for the story behind the bridge and great river. Nothing found when i walked. Dangerous vehicles stopping in the middle of bridge.
Anthony V — Google review
It was a neat road. Though if high tides arise or rain fall occurs, drive safely!

Late review - visit date: Feb2017. Magapit Suspension bridge is best visited when the sun is still up. Unfortunately we arrived the area at night due to some delays during our North Loop DIY tour hence my photos of this bridge did not show how good it is when seen with our eyes. If I am not mistaken this is the only suspension bridge in the Philippines so this landmark is also worth a visit to say the least.
Teya B — Google review
One of the nice Bridges in Cagayan, you can feel the vibration in the ground as heavy vehicles cross the suspension bridge.

John S — Google review
The Magapit Bridge is suspension bridge that opened in 1978 to connect the east and west sides of the Cagayan River in the province of Cagayan. It is located in Magapit, Lal-lo, Cagayan, Philippines. The bridge was also named by the locals as the "Golden Gate of Cagayan". This bridge is one of the only two bridges in the province that runs across the mighty waterway of the Cagayan River.

Iguig Calvary Hills, situated in the municipality of Iguig along Cagayan Valley Road, is a renowned pilgrimage site and scenic destination. This 18th-century park overlooks the picturesque Cagayan River and features a historic church, San Antonio de Galicia, as well as 14 life-size Stations of the Cross.
Been here twice already.. 2018 and 2025, it's the same old story.. You might check this if you pass by this town, no entrance fee.
Hansel P — Google review
It's a nice sight to see, but not well maintained. The grass is overgrown by a foot or two and you can't read half of the text on the statue bases.
Nicholas V — Google review
Its a shame there was something happening inside while visiting so i didn't get to have a good look around but outside was stunning with great weather to suit, large grounds well maintained, maybe better to visit through the week if possible. Would definitely go back if in the area again.
Daniel H — Google review
This is a very scenic park located on a hill top right beside the historic and beautiful Iguig Church. Has a breathtaking view of the sunset. However, some of the life-size monuments have not been well-maintained through the years, missing some parts or limbs.
Ching P — Google review
Big place. Nice old church. Probably very good view, but I can’t confirm since it was raining during our visit there. It is worth to visit the old Spanish well that is close to the entrance.
Anna K — Google review
Great for pilgrims and retreats. Overlooking Cagayan River. Road leading to this place is narrow but there's a parking space for people coming in with their own vehicles.
Mari L — Google review
Nice to visit but there was no mass when we visited. There is also an overlooking of the Cagayan River.
Arvin S — Google review
A breathtaking view of Cagayan. This calvary hills top is one of a kind scenic destinations to visit. Catholic or not, anyone can enjoy the picturesque grassland, life-size stations of the cross, and the old church of Iguig at the entrance. I hope this beautiful place can be maintained properly all year round to keep its cleanliness, and be promoted for tourism to increase its resource upkeep and therefore, restore some of its aging monuments.

When you find yourself in the enchanting Cagayan Valley, a visit to Callao Cave is an absolute must. This remarkable limestone cave complex boasts seven chambers, each showcasing unique rock formations that will leave you in awe. One of its most captivating features is a chapel nestled within the first chamber, complete with an improvised altar and a stunning natural skylight that allows sunlight to pour in, creating a serene atmosphere for reflection.
Review as of April 2025 Callao Caves is among the 300 caves in Peñablanca, Cagayan. It is where the oldest human fossil (Homo Luzonensis) in the Philippines was found. Entrance fee is free for children below 7 years of age, 50 for students, 100 for adults, and 200 for foreign nationals. Getting inside starts with a 184-step climb. Once there, one is greeted by the first and largest chamber followed by a chamber turned into a chapel. Only 5 of the 7 chambers can be visited to protect this landmark and ensure safety of guests. Our guide was a volunteer who took the awesome shots to showcase the best of this natural wonder.

Callao Cave isn’t just famous for its chapel inside—it’s also where the oldest human remains in the Philippines, called Homo luzonensis, were found (around 130,000 years old!) 🦴 🎬 Plus, it was the wedding shoot location of Bea Alonzo & John Lloyd Cruz in The Mistress. To reach it, you’ll need to climb 184 steps, but the view inside is worth it. Our guide, Harlem, was excellent—knowledgeable about the cave’s history and also very skilled at taking photos. Guide fee is ₱350 (required, 1 guide per group of 4). Entrance fee is ₱100 per person, plus ₱20 for a helmet and ₱45 for parking per car. The cave actually has 7 chambers, but since it was raining, we only got to explore 2 because the ground was slippery and muddy. I’d recommend coming during the dry season for the best experience plus you’ll be able to see the river in its beautiful summer colors.
Fel D — Google review
Not that far from city center but takes about more than an hour via tricycle or about 40mins by car. It takes leg strength and endurance to walk up the 180 steps going to the cave entrance. There are 5/7 chambers that visitors can see and wont require any special attire or shoes. Comfortable clothing and shoes with enough traction are enough. Depending on the stops for picture-taking, the entire tour may range for about 1-1.5hrs. there are accredited tour guides that help in the orientation and i suggest that visitors give tips worthy of the effort. Look for Niño, he orients and takes pictures well. And there is a 100php entrance fee per adult.

Callao Cave, located in Peñablanca, Cagayan, is a prominent attraction known for its stunning limestone formations and historical background. It is approximately 30 km northeast of Tuguegarao City. Staffs and tour guides are super friendly, I really enjoyed my short time in here.

Thank you to our tourist Guide - John. He was excellent and very humorous. The cave is amazing and the chapel really added to its appeal. Sadly, because of vandalism the stalactites starts to be damaged. All in all it was one of a kind experience.

Worth a visit if you are in Tuguegarao. This cave is famous for the chapel built inside which was used as a scene in the John Lloyd-Bea movie "The Mistress". There's a fee to be paid to get in and includes a tour guide. Our tour guide, Bella is amazing! She shared so many information about Callao Cave, Tuguegarao and the Cagayan Valley. She is a native Aeta so she knows so many things about the area. It was like talking to a friend, we joked around and she was great at taking photos. The cave is really beautiful. It's not like other caves I visited because this one has an open dome. You wont feel claustrophobic and there's a lot of light and breeze. Just make sure you wear comfortable shoes as there's more than a hundred steps to climb and the ground is slippery and muddy. There's clean toilets at the entrance area, parking, store to buy snacks and beverages as well as souvenir shops.

The priests are great! Intellectual, and witty as I can describe them. The church is a beauty inside, giving a traditional and modernized feel. There are air conditioning units installed so it feels cosy and comfortable when the Eucharistic celebrations are ongoing

It's a small quaint church that is locked out. I got into the grounds through the back gate but cannot view the chapel. It has a/c condensers under all its' windows.

Sights & Landmarks
Buntun Bridge, located in Tuguegarao City, is a significant landmark that spans the Cagayan River and connects the city to Solana. This impressive bridge, constructed with 14 Japanese steel spans, holds the distinction of being the longest river bridge in the Philippines at 1,369 meters (4,491 feet). The construction of this iconic structure began in 1959 under President Carlos P. Garcia's administration and was completed over three administrations.
It was nice that they are repainting the bridge. Every time we cross this bridge, I always enjoy it. The bridge is even prettier at night because of the lights. It's really impregnable too, withstanding strong typhoons over the years.

One of famous landmarks in Cagayan.200 meters long you can see this bridge on t shirt selling on souvenir shops
Oppah — Google review
I recently passed through Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao, and while it still feels sturdy and continues to serve its purpose as a vital link across the Cagayan River, it’s clear that it needs some maintenance. The bridge really needs repainting, as the old paint is already fading and rust is starting to show in some parts. It’s still impressive to cross, especially with the wide view of the river, but regular upkeep would help preserve both its appearance and durability. Hopefully, a repainting and proper maintenance can be scheduled soon so it can remain a proud landmark of the city.

When you're in Tuguegarao, be sure to pass by Buntun Bridge if it's not along your way. The bridge is long enough that if you try singing the Filipino National Anthem the moment you enter the bridge, you're still on the bridge once you finish singing.

The bridge connects the Solana, Tuao, Santo Niño and part of Isabela. It serves as a middle structure along the long and wide Chico River. The said bridge was built during the Marcos era.

St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral, also known as Tuguegarao Cathedral, is a stunning 18th-century Baroque-style church located in the city of Tuguegarao. It is considered one of the oldest churches in the area and boasts a majestic facade made of red bricks. The interior design and architecture are equally impressive, making it one of the most beautiful churches in northern adventure.
It's a huge and beautiful church in Tuguegarao City. Very beautiful ceiling. Don't miss the details of the church design when you visit, like the church facade, windows, statues of saints, and in particular the molded bricks with various symbols found in both inside and outside the church.

The St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral, also known as Tuguegarao Cathedral, is an 18th-century Baroque church and the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tuguegarao. It's considered one of the largest churches in the Cagayan Valley region. I really love the grandeur atmosphere this Church emits. It's definitely a must visit when you're in Tuguegarao City 😇
Besinga, P — Google review
This beautiful Catholic Cathedral of God was closed due to the death of the Parish Priest. The security guard did not inform.us when they charged us P20 for our vehicle to enter the Church grounds. The carvings of the door on the left depicts the Old testament and the right is the new testament. We prayed outside the Church especially for the departed soul of the Priest with other faithful who also came to a closed Church. It's like Catholics and People were barred to visit God or enter the His House. When we told.the guard we came to pray and visit the Blessed Sacrament, they told us to enter through.the back door. Again it was closed. Beautiful statues of Saints surround the area. Padre Pio, St Anthony, San Lorenzo Ruiz... May God forgive the people who closed the Church and prevented all His Children from visiting and adoring Him. May they remember that the Church belongs to the Prople of God and not the bishops nor the clergy.

I love this Cathedral. Intricate ceiling and they have masses in English as well in case you don't speak Ibanag. Haven't had the chance to explore the area coz it was raining. There are statues of saints around the complex like the design of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican.

St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral also known as Tuguegarao Cathedral is one of the largest 18th century Baroque-style churches in the Cagayan Valley. It's facade is a sight to behold, so majestic because of its' size and the red bricks added to the beauty of this church. It's evident that it is well-maintained. The interior design and architecture is also equally admirable. One of the most beautiful church i've seen in my northern adventure! ❤

This Metropolitan Cathedral in Tuguegarao is recently renovated and is spacious inside for all its churchgoers. It is also spacious outside the church and can accommodate more than enough people during mass celebrations whenever it’s full inside. It is strategically situated at the busy plaza of Tuguegarao and easily accessible by cars and public transport vehicles at all points.

Tirad Pass, the site where General Gregorio del Pilar valiantly defended General Emilio Aguinaldo against American soldiers, is an ideal destination for hiking enthusiasts. While the camp may be relatively small, it does offer a water source and makeshift restroom facilities. A statue of Del Pilar stands proudly in the campsite, serving as a poignant reminder of his heroism. Visitors can also witness the old pomelo tree that marks his original burial spot.

The place where Gen. Gregorio del Pilar died defending Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo against the American soldiers. It is a good place to hike. The camp is quite bit small, but it has water source and make shift comfort room. A statue of Del Pilar was erected in the campsite in memory of his heroism. You will see the old pomelo tree where he was originally buried. From the campsite, it is still 4hours up going to the summit. The summit however can only accomodate 4-5 people. It is highly recommended to have a local guide when assaulting. The terrain is very dangerous especially for newbies. We climbed the summit on our own, and it was not advisable. Ropes are needed when assaulting for safety purposes. It was a great experience since we hiked that mountain on a holloween.

Bomod-ok Falls

Waterfalls
Bomod-ok Falls, also known as the Big Falls, is a breathtaking 200-meter tall waterfall hidden in Sagada, Mountain Province, Philippines. Despite the challenging two-hour trek through picturesque mountain villages and lush green rice paddies, visitors find the stunning view of terraces and hills to be incredibly rewarding. The trail to the highest falls in Sagada is paved but requires comfortable footwear and plenty of water due to the hot conditions.
If I had to choose between Marlboro hills and this one, I'd choose this. Pretty easy walk and the views are amazing. We went here end of Nov and surprisingly the water is not that cold. You'll pass by a convenience store halfway and there's an option to take a shuttle going back to the jump off point.
Leyneleen T — Google review
Easy Hike. Good for beginners. Nice falls, very cold water. You will be accompanied by dogs going to the falls.
Jovit V — Google review
This place is simply stunning. The majestic waterfall stands 60 metres and falls into a pool suitable for swimming. You'll need the tourist/environmental tax and receipt from the Sagada Tourist office in town, plus a guide to be hire near the start of the village.
Chung H — Google review
A hidden gem in the flatlands of Northern Sagada. You need to trek down a cemented set of stairs to get to the village, and eventually to the river and to the falls. Entrance fee is 10/head, guide fee is 500 per group of 7, and shuttle fee (if you're coming from the city) is 600. The trek down is around 2 km, and we got it in less than an hour (40-45 mins) without stop. It isn't that much difficult as the steps are small and you can really rush your way down. We entered through the tourism office (Bangaan jump off). We had it early morning (8:30 AM) so the sun is still calm and tolerable. We were the first to set and arrive at the falls. We did it on a Saturday, as tours usually do the Marlboro Hills/Blue soil first so there are no other guests aside from us at this point. You will pass by the village on the way. You can ask your tour guide/the tour guide will share with you the history of the barangays in the northern part, how they are different from the central Sagada, etc which are really interesting. Beautiful rice fields after the village--you can take instagrammable shots there. River is a bit dried out during summer, and there is also fewer water rushing out of the falls; the good thing about this is you can come closer to the falls, compared to when it's raining and you can only come to a certain point. Very cold water. Locals also come here to gather, swim, play. They were very nice and a good experience to immerse with the community. There's a hidden area some may check in; you need to crawl on the small chamber on the left and there's a mini falls facing right the big falls. Going up is the real challenge. We opted to exit in Pide, going up there is tolerable. You will exit right in the village and you will hike up a cemented road with less stairs. It was way easier as I imagined climbing back to Bangaan. The stairs going back are grouped together in big numbers, so you will be forced to climb continuously and it's very tiring!! Especially, under the heat of the Sun. In Pide exit, the stairs will only be on the last leg and it's tolerable compared to the ones we passed through in Bangaan. I would say it's worth the adventure! Not the best falls in the Philippines but definitely one great experience!
Mark S — Google review
For any Sagada adventurer, especially first-time tourists, a trip to Bomod-ok Falls is an absolute must. Your journey begins at the Tourism Office, where you'll register and pay a tourism fee of PHP 100. A guided tour fee of PHP 1500 is also required, ensuring a safe and informative experience. The trek to the falls kicks off about 20 minutes from the tourism center. If you're new to hiking, expect the descent to take a few hours. However, seasoned hikers can complete the downward trek in as little as 30 minutes. As you make your way down, you'll pass through a charming Kankana-ey community and stunning rice terraces, offering incredibly picturesque views. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the splendid Bomod-ok Falls. Its crystal-clear waters are not only beautiful but also potable, serving as the main water supply for the surrounding community.

We visited Sagada on February 16, 2024, and on the second day of our stay, we went to Bomod-ok Falls right after Marlboro Hills - Blue Soil and Sumaguing Cave tours with only an hour or two of rest. We didn't want to waste time, so we made the most of the day. This falls is very beautiful, and the view on the way to the falls is stunning and worth it, although we got tired from the trekking going and coming back. The stairs going up, you will really feel the pain in your thighs after trekking. I regularly hike, I didn't get tired from Marlboro Hills, Blue Soil, and Sumaguing Cave. But it was here in the trekking to Bomod-ok Falls that I got tired in the afternoon, but all of that was worth it, and I didn't regret that we did Marlboro Hills, Blue Soil, Sumaguing Cave, and Bomod-ok Falls in one day. The tiredness was totally worth it.

Bomod-ok Falls in Sagada is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. The hike to the falls is filled with stunning views of lush landscapes and terraced rice fields, making every step a visual delight. During our hike, we are also greeted with a field of wild sunflowers, making the experience memorable and sweet. A guide is required for the hike, ensuring you stay on the right path and learn about the local area. The trail itself is quite challenging, often steep and demanding, which can be very tiring and tough on the knees. Having a walking stick is highly recommended to help navigate the rugged terrain. However, the effort is well worth it. The sight of Bomod-ok Falls cascading down into a serene pool is breathtaking and a perfect reward for the hike. The falls is very cold and the water is deep. If you know how to swim, jump into the water to feel refreshed before your trek back. Despite the physical challenge, the experience of reaching the falls and soaking in the natural beauty of Sagada makes it an unforgettable adventure.
Rock M — Google review
It took us less than an hour to reach the falls. The route is cemented but better to wear slippers. The trek to the falls was fairly easy but the trek back was bloody because of the steep uphill battle. Our experience with bomod ok falls was okayish because we wanted to climb up the falls but it was raining during our visit so the water current was strong and dangerous to attempt to climb. On our way back, you can take the orginal route to the drop off point or take a lesser stressful climb. However, you will be charged 300 pesos for the latter route because its somewhat a short cut. Once you reach the top, you will again be paying 500pesos for a jeep ride back to the parking lot

Been not exactly at the lake, but at the sunset observation point at the main road - good place to stay, although one can not exactly observe the sunset there 😃 The eatery is very nice and there is a not bad choice of local food, and even pizza.
Angel M — Google review
Five stars if it's a foggy day. Two stars if it's a sunny day. The fog makes all the difference. So if the rains spoil your Lake Danum sunset experience don't fret, the misty lake experience is more magical than the touristy sunset that's overrated. Just too many people all over the place when it's a clear afternoon they didn't realize the magic of the mists when the rains chase away all the distractions.

Although photography is restricted due to copyright concerns, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into indigenous artifacts in the Philippines.

Sagada Weaving is a must-visit souvenir shop in the picturesque Sagada, Philippines. It showcases the traditional weaving artistry of the Mountain Province, offering a diverse selection of handwoven textiles such as blankets and scarves crafted by local artisans. The shop reflects the rich cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of the Igorot people. Established in 1968, it is known for practicing both traditional and ethnic weaving techniques using purely spun polyester on backstrap and upright looms.
went here to buy woven stuff and was not disappointed, in addition to the usual woven bags and wallets, they also have woven guitar / camera straps 🥰 the ice cream vendor just outside the shop selling strawberry and avocado ice cream just added to the great experience

A small business with 5-6 hand looms. Tremendous, as you can get very close to the weavers. Next door the material is sewn and items are for sale. Would be nice if there was some one to offer information - but still worth an hour visit. Closes for lunch at midday.
HeatSand C — Google review
Sagada Weaving is a small local shop worth visiting if you’re looking for handwoven wallets, bags, placemats, and other pasalubong items. The quality of their products is impressive—you can see the care and craftsmanship in every piece. Personally, I just wish they offered more modern bag designs to appeal to a wider range of tastes. One nice feature is that you can walk to the back of the shop and see the handlooms used to make their fabric. It’s an interesting glimpse into the weaving process, though it would have been even better if there was someone available to explain more about the craft and history behind it. Parking is available inside the compound, though space is limited. Street parking is also an option nearby. Overall, Sagada Weaving is a great stop for locally made items with a lot of heart and heritage—just a few small touches could make the experience even more engaging.

a must-visit if you want to see authentic local craftsmanship. They’ve been around for decades, producing handwoven bags, clothes, and souvenirs that showcase traditional Cordilleran patterns. A place that preserves culture while supporting local livelihood.

One of the oldest churches in Baguio City is St. Mary's Episcopal Church, which was constructed in 1909. The church's conventional English Gothic Revival design and gorgeous stone and wood architecture are stunning. Its stunning stained-glass windows, tall oak ceilings, and beautifully carved altar provide a tranquil and serene atmosphere that is ideal for introspection and prayer. The history of the church is equally fascinating. Originally constructed as a house of worship for American Protestants, St. Mary's was founded during the American colonial era. The church has contributed significantly to Baguio City's religious and cultural life over the years, and both locals and tourists adore it as a landmark. St. Mary's Episcopal Church is renowned for its inviting and inclusive community in addition to its stunning architecture and extensive history. individuals from different backgrounds and faiths attend the church's services and events because it is open to individuals of all beliefs. In order to deepen the relationships between the church and the larger community, the church also conducts a variety of outreach programs and events, such as feeding programs and community service initiatives. St. Mary's Episcopal Church was a beautiful place to visit overall. Anyone visiting Baguio City should go there because of its stunning architecture, interesting history, and warm people. St. Mary's Episcopal Church should be on your list of places to visit whether you're seeking for a place to worship, want to learn more about the history of the area, or just want to meet new people.

The Hanging Coffins of Sagada, located in the Philippines, are a unique and captivating sight. This ancient tradition dates back over 2000 years and is attributed to the indigenous Igorot people. The coffins are placed high on limestone cliffs as part of an elaborate burial custom. It is believed that this practice brings the deceased closer to heaven and protects their bodies from being disturbed by animals or other tribes.
A remarkable place. Our guide Arther was excellent, a local, provided loads of great information the walk is not too challenging ( we are seniors), well kept and clean. A great place to visit for a few hours. Walkable from Sagada tourist office.

The famous Hanging Coffins of Sagada are one of the region’s most iconic and culturally significant attractions. To reach the site, you’ll need to take a short trek down a well-marked trail, which is manageable even for beginners. The path offers a mix of scenic views and fascinating insights into the local traditions along the way. Though the hike requires a bit of effort, it’s definitely worth it once you arrive and witness this unique burial practice that reflects the rich heritage of the Igorot people. A must-see for anyone interested in history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.

The hanging coffins are a really fascinating local custom. Although the most famous coffins are the ones placed on the mountain side. It's worthwhile getting a guide as you get more information about the history of this practice. The valley is also the site of caves which contain coffins. A guide will lead you to a couple.

One of the must-visit places in Sagada is the Hanging Coffins—a remarkable site with a rich history behind this unique practice. It’s an amazing experience that made me feel deeply connected to my ancestors.

It's a wonderful place, if you're looking for some trail vibe, because it's a lot difficult to climb some rocks and pass through some tiny passages, especially for those who is not used to... But you will be okay, just rest and go slowly. Interesting history btw
André F — Google review
You will be amazed not just by the views but also the history of townsfolk and the history of hanging coffins. Burials have different spots, this famous area is the specific spot for tourism but before you reach the spot you still need to trek and hike for 10 mins which is a bit difficult due to the steep stairs might be a hassle for others such as senior citizens and some that have problems in knees, but overall it is a worthy experience.
Akuseru P — Google review
We heard interesting stories about the hanging coffins from our tour guide. While some might not support the idea of the mandatory tour guide, I believe this is one of those tourism activities that are worth supporting because visitors can learn something straight from a local (though these info are all available online).
Ced A — Google review
The price though every and solemn had such a peaceful vibe. Our tour guide was so informative. My husband and I learned so much not only of the place but of the culture of the People from Sagada. Our dog had the time of his life exploring the nature all around.

Marlboro Hill, located in Sagada, Philippines, is a captivating destination known for its resemblance to the famous cigarette brand's advertising images. The vast expanse of rolling hills and grasslands offers a relatively easy hiking trail suitable for various skill levels. At the top, hikers are rewarded with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Cordillera mountain range and the renowned sea of clouds at sunrise.
A 04:00 am start was made pleasant with the prompt arrival of tourist board guide, coffee and hot bananas! Great 40 minute walk up the hill for a super windy and chilly sunrise over a sea of clouds. Excellent morning - we were back down by 08:00 am. Best part - we observed an Asian White Breasted Woodpecker in action for 10 minutes!!

On a lucky day, this spot offers a breathtaking view of the famous sea of clouds, making it a must-visit in Sagada for early risers and nature lovers. The temperature can get quite chilly in the early morning, so bringing a jacket is a good idea. It's an easy 30-minute hike from the roadside, making it accessible even for beginners looking for a rewarding trail.

This was worth the hike! And not bad for noob hikers wanting to witness the beauty of sunrise and sea of clouds! Truly an amazing experience! Best part of my Sagada trip!

We loved Marlboro Hills! It was a 1 hour hike but it's all worth it! We have availed the Marlboro Hills to Blue Soil which happened to be around 3-5 hours of a total hike all in all. It's very nice! Indeed a must try! We had really fun with this wild adventure!

Marlboro Hill in Sagada is a breathtaking viewpoint that lives up to its name, reminiscent of the wide-open plains seen in famous cigarette ads. The rolling grassy hills stretch endlessly, offering a serene escape into nature. Hiking up the trail is invigorating, with cool mountain air, scattered pine trees, and panoramic vistas of surrounding valleys and distant mountains. Sunrise and sunset provide especially magical moments, painting the landscape with golden hues. The area is peaceful, perfect for relaxation, reflection, and photography. Friendly locals add warmth to the experience, and nearby Sagada attractions complement the visit. Marlboro Hill is a must-see for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Caverns & Caves
Lumiang Cave, nestled in the enchanting town of Sagada, is a mesmerizing underground wonder that beckons adventurers and history enthusiasts alike. This cave is not just a geological marvel; it holds deep cultural significance as it serves as an ancient burial site for the Igorot people. As you wander through its interconnected chambers, you'll encounter stunning limestone formations like stalactites and stalagmites that come to life under your headlamp's glow.
Are you willing to decend into the darkness and depths of Lumiang Cave? It is one of the most exciting, adventurous, and dangerous things to do in Sagada. I recommend using a guide so they can point out the interesting features of the cave. This underground trek is broken down into 3 stages, each with its own characteristic. Many photo opportunities abound in the cave. Stage 1 is slippery, so be careful. You walk and climb down some stairs and craggy rocks, which warms you up for the adventure and danger ahead. Stage 2 is where you take off your footwear, and you start to wade on the water. The depth of the water will depend on if the season is wet or dry and ranges from ankle to thigh deep. The funnest part was the repeling portion. Just hold on and follow your guides instructions. Stage 3 includes fitting through a tiny opening and then getting waist deep into the water as well as a portion that you need to hold on to a rope as you traverse the cave wall. The cave spelunking lasts about 3 to 4 hours in and out, and the last entry into the cave is at 5pm.Be brave, be bold, and listen to your guide.
Jeremy A — Google review
The ‘connecting’ cave tour was the craziest experience I’ve done in my life. BE WARNED! Firstly, the entrance of Lumiang cave is an astonishing historical, spiritual and cultural site with the 300-year-old burial caskets tucked along the side and its crevices. Earthquakes have resulted in broken caskets with human skeletons to be littered further down the entrance. You’ll be walking through these as you enter deeper into the cave. Here’s where you start your Lumiang - Sumaguing cave connector tour. We were NOT warned or informed of what this would be, so we had no clue that we would end up doing something so dramatic, dangerous and mind-blowing. We thought we would just sightsee two caves, but we eventually found out we were in for a CRAZY 3 hour, 3 kilometer, extremely dangerous, cave climb which required squeezing through tiny cracks/crevices to climbing up slippery rocks into certain sections that were 40 story high chambers. All the while underground waterfalls and rivers raged around us. There are at least 3 sections that are life threatening sections where a slip would have resulted in certain death or a fall down the abyss for a casket-less burial. The Lumiang section is the most dangerous and slippery. Once you get through the ‘connector’, a hole in the wall where you’ll be dangling by a rope above a dangerous waterfall chamber, you’ll reach the Sumaguing section which is not so slippery. Once we got out alive, it was one of the most insane and amazing experiences we had done. But do ensure that you are 1. absolutely fit 2. Do not suffer from claustrophobia 3. Do not have any injuries (you’ll need to use all your muscles) 4. Are not overweight (so you will fit through certain sections) 5. Will stay calm when confronted with life-threatening situations If you pass the above, then make sure you have good climbing shoes. And this will be a one of a kind experience.
Gerard H — Google review
Both a heritage and adventure visit. A must experience for cultural understanding of how our ancestors live. Less challenging than Sumaguing cave but you can enter Lumiang and exit Sumaguing cave for those who are fit and not claustrophobic.
Elmo B — Google review
Lumiang Cave in Sagada offers an intriguing and adventurous spelunking experience for those eager to delve into the depths of Sagada's underground wonders. The entrance itself, marked by an impressive rock formation, sets the tone for an exciting exploration. Inside, the cave reveals a labyrinth of chambers adorned with ancient coffins, adding a cultural and historical dimension to the adventure. Navigating through the cave involves traversing narrow passages and navigating underground streams, providing a true caving challenge. The stunning rock formations, including the famous Coffin Chamber, add a sense of awe to the journey. Lumiang Cave's unique blend of natural beauty and cultural significance makes it a compelling destination for adventure enthusiasts seeking a memorable and enriching experience in Sagada.

Lots of fun in the cave. Definitely worth it if your up for some adventure. Some parts were a bit sketchy for sure. just stay focused and dont look down if you're not into hights. (Little caving experience would be nice) did the cave connection tour second cave is easy for beginners aswell.
Marnix M — Google review
Our first ever spelunking! Caves also has it's beauty. We were not prepared of the darkness and coldness inside, but it's also enjoyable. You get to experience climbing up rocks using the ropes provided and of course, going/sliding through holes. It was a memorable long-hour journey.
Charmaine R — Google review
Make Lumiang cave as the entry and Sumaguing cave as your exit. It is a great adventure but it is physically demanding. It requires a lot of scrambling and squeezing through small holes. Just pay attention to your guide as they know best. Your guide will tell you the best way for each hole you pass through. Watch every step as limestones are slippery. Be ready to get wet. Enjoy the bats serenading you from above. Take a lot of photos when you are in sumaguing cave. Have fun but be safe.

Sumaguing Cave is a centuries-old cave in Sagada, known for its impressive limestone formations and challenging spelunking opportunities. To explore the expansive cave network, visitors can register at the Tourist Information Center and arrange for an accredited guide to lead them through the three levels of spelunking activities. The first level offers a two-hour exploration within Sumaguing Cave, while more adventurous options involve traversing multiple caves with longer routes.
Have you ever done spelunking before? If not, then this should be an easy yes decision if your physicality permits. The cave is deep and dark (as they should), and our guide is deeply knowledgeable and funny, which made the experience even better. There are quite a few rock formations, from a queen’s vagina to elephants, crocodiles, and turtles. Expect to get wet and dirty, and there will instances where it will be slippery. But trust the process. I further recommend to go as deep as you can, especially the tunnel portion to get the full experience. Go there early to avoid the crowd. 7am - 8am is a good time, right after breakfast. It takes around 2 hours, so you will still have the rest of the day ahead. Peep the coffins at the cave’s entrance!

I visited this cave after Go Sagada arranged transport and a guide for me. The Sumaguing Cave is the best caves in Sagada. Descending as much as 150 metres down, you'll get to see some incredible formations created by water, some of which have names corresponding to their visual, such as the bird and mother and baby elephants, the tortoise and palm tree. Near the bottom of the tour are pools where you can take a dip. The water is cool, but not too cold. Make sure you have the tourist tax and receipt from the Sagada Tourist office. I'm not sure if it's permissible to visit without a guide, but I would not want to go down without one. Awesome experience.

I visited this place with my daughter, Ezra, and it has become one of the most unforgettable memories of my life—sharing the experience together made it truly special. The journey was challenging, and now I understand the meaning behind the tagline “I survived” in Sagada. I highly recommend it to those who seek adventure and thrilling challenges. Our tour guide was highly professional, and the photos they took were absolutely superb and amazing. Sagada is a must-visit! A perfect 5 out of 5.

The cave is deep and easy to get wet in the last stage. Stairs are only available for the first few 100m. Be prepared with adequate equipment, the rocks are slippery. The route is difficult and dangerous. Make sure your shoes are water proof and suitable for climbing. Better to bring a cross water proof bag to store your phone. Free your hands are the key to get yourself in and out safely. Do not go without a guide. The view are amazing but rmb your safety is the highest concern.

First time trying out spelunking and I would recommend everyone to do this at least once in their life, the rock formations as you go deeper inside the cave just get better. Air is a little bit cold and so is the water so I recommend wearing sports clothing and your strongest slippers/hiking sandals for this adventure. You can also opt to explore deeper into the cave but you would have to go through tight, smaller holes. Expect to get wet and dirty. We went there at 8:30 am and got out around 10. We were the 2nd to arrive and while we were on our way back out, a lot of people were starting to come in so highly recommend to go there earlier.
Karlee C — Google review
This is one of the highlights of our Sagada experience. The cave is beginner friendly for those who want to experience cave spelunking. This has the biggest cave chambers among caves in Sagada. We entered the cave late in the afternoon but there are still a lot of tourists going in and out of the cave so it is safe to explore. This is a thrilling experience. Our young tour guide was very accommodating and made our cave experience easy and fun he even made gimmicks for our photos
Akuseru P — Google review
If you’re heading to Sagada and looking for something more exhilarating than sipping mountain coffee and pondering life at sunrise, Sumaguing Cave is a must. The rock formations are the main stars—impossibly intricate, with amusing names like the “King’s Curtain,” the “Pregnant Woman,” and the “Chocolate Cake.” Your guide will point them all out with equal parts enthusiasm and dry humor. There’s also a natural underground pool you can wade through, if you're okay with water that feels like it came from a melted glacier. The trail is very slippery and muddy the tour guide will ask you to remove your shoes as well for safety. Bring a dry bag or at least protect your phone and wallet. It's kind of hard you need strength going up.

The Church is nice and located beside the national highway. Despite the heat outside, surprisingly the inside is not too hot. The pews are also in good condition and the place feels very solemn. Tappiyah Falls is a captivating waterfall located in Banaue, Philippines, nestled amidst the stunning Cordillera Mountains. Accessible via a scenic trek through UNESCO World Heritage Site rice terraces, this natural wonder offers a refreshing plunge into a pool surrounded by lush greenery. The once challenging trail to the falls has been improved with paved and cemented steps, making it more accessible to visitors.
Whenever I visit the breathtaking and awe-inspiring Batad rice terraces and Tappiya Falls, I am instantly enveloped in a sense of tranquility. My first time in Tappiya Falls but second time in Ifugao. The place is really far-the cliffs are no joke and it's kind of scary at first, the road is concrete up to the dead end where you need to walk, walk, walk for about an hour ( that's in our case and experienced) You also need to log your name at the Tourist Center. YOU NEED A TOUR GUIDE ! We went on a hike at 5:00 in the morning, and reached the Tappiya Falls for about 7:00 in the morning. Guys, the earlier you hike, the more chances you're gonna see a rainbow! I am so blessed to personally experienced and see it. Be careful in walking because some are steep concrete stairways . I actually struggled going there - it's really far from the Inn and the stairs are crazy! You will first experience the beauty of the rice terraces before reaching the Tappiya Falls. Make sure to wear proper footwear and clothing. There is only one store at the Tappiya Falls so better bring lots of water to stay hydrated and put lots of sunscreen too. The water is so cold and refreshing so take extra clothes if you plan to take a dip. From 5:00 AM hike we got back at around 1:30 in the afternoon. The place has no cellphone reception or low internet speed from the inn we stayed for a night, which I love because the place is freaking magnificent not to see or take videos and photos. We stayed or 2 days and 1 night and we also enjoy the local food.

The place is majestic. The trail is not that hard because it is already a scemented stair. Swimming is available but highly suggested not to go to the deepest part under the fall of the falls. Batad Rice Terraces is a UNESCO world heritage site located in Ifugao, known for its stunning cascading layout over an amphitheater-like hillside. Accessible only by foot, this hidden paradise offers breathtaking scenery and friendly locals. It's recommended to hire a tour guide for safety and to bring a walking stick for the hike. The area is also home to some of the friendliest dogs that can accompany visitors on tours around the paddies, valley, and falls.
The Batad Rice Terraces offer an extraordinary experience, blending physical challenge with breathtaking reward. The hike to reach the terraces is indeed grueling, demanding significant physical effort and resilience. However, the effort is amply rewarded by the stunning view of the centuries-old terraces, cascading down the mountainside in an awe-inspiring display. The combination of lush greenery and the intricate patterns of the terraces makes for a scene that is truly unforgettable. Despite the sweat and tears shed along the way, the experience is wholly worth it for the unparalleled beauty that awaits at the end.

An absolutely amazing wonder of the world and worthy of a place on the UNESCO list of intangible heritage. There's lots of steep climbing, both up and down, but the terrain is otherwise fairly easy. A guide isn't really necessary. Definitely take the route that traverses the upper part of the slopes and it gives the best views.

Okay, first the view is awesome and we only paid an entrance fee of P50.00/head - exclusive of tour guide fee of course. 2nd, if you’re going to spend a night or more at this place, I am warning you not to bring a luggage! Guys what you’re visiting is a mountainous area not some concrete tourist attractions. Majestic. The hike was tiring but worth it. You may explore the place alone. It is easy to navigate because pathways that lead to the Tapiyah falls are already cemented. There are 2 pathways, one shortcut but steep, and the other is relaxed but longer. The option is yours right after the elementary school where you can find the forked path. Tip: Do not speak loudly. Respect the culture.

I read a lot of reviews and I'll try to give as much info as I can. Visited on Nov 28, 2024. 1. I had my own transport. Cost to park a scooter was 50 PHP for the day from the Batad Trail Parking point. From the vehicle stop point end to end it took me 4 hours total, however I didn't linger too long anywhere. I spent about 20 minutes at the falls. I rested for 5 minutes here and there and moved on. Most other groups I saw took longer for both so maybe 5 hours is a good amount of time to budget for this from the parking point and back.... 2. If you have bad knees or have bad vertigo, this is not for you. The stairs are steep and plentiful. If you do have bad knees, you can still go to the registration desk, pay the 50 PHP entrance fee and get to a viewing deck. Take your selfies and go back because you pay for the price of admission both literally and in fatigue. You'll basically walk from the top of the mountain down to the village at the bottom of the valley then back up to a viewpoint at the top of the mountain, then down to the waterfall, then back up to the viewpoint at the top of of the mountain, then back down to the village and back up to the top of the mountain. It's a workout. There are vendors that will sell you a walking stick, skip it and just rent one for 10 PHP, it's not like you're going to stick it in your luggage and bring it home with you :). I'd recommend getting one, mainly for the down and I say this as someone that didn't get a walking stick and am used to aggressive hiking without hiking poles. Your knees won't regret the extra balance point going down for 10 PHP. 3. I was solo, skipped the guide. One of the guides gave me a hard time as it's their living, but it's not really necessary to have a guide. When you enter just meander down the stairs; if you take a wrong turn a local will shoo you to the right spot :). Once you're down at the terraces, there is literally only one concrete pathway across the terraces after you pass through the lower village in the valley. If you're walking on mud or grass, you're on the wrong terrace path :) - you do have to go up one terrace level after exiting the lower village to get across. You basically pass across all of the terraces on the concrete path until you see concrete stairs. Follow them to the top to get to the viewpoint. After you're done there, walk down a short distance then laterally to the blue roof building. In the back of this building are concrete stairs down to the waterfalls. After you come back up from the falls, backtrack to get back to the pickup point. 4. You can find proper food in the upper village (where you entered the valley), but once you're in the lower village and beyond there are really only snacks and refreshments available. Fuel up before you exit the upper village or pack something, you'll need the energy. 5. The falls are cold. You'll probably jump in anyways from the sweat, but yeah they're chilly. 6. Forecast in the region was for rain. It rained elsewhere, but in the valley it didn't rain on me. YMMV. I went here after visiting many other terraces in the region (just taking pictures from viewpoints above). This one is the most impressive and I understand why it's a UNESCO heritage site. I think it's worth visiting.

Nestled in the picturesque municipality of Hungduan, the Hapao Rice Terraces stand as a testament to traditional agricultural ingenuity and cultural heritage, recognized by UNESCO. Unlike their more famous counterparts like Banaue and Batad, these terraces boast a unique rectangular design with solid stone walls that rise up to 20 feet high. This remarkable engineering not only retains water and soil but also creates flat surfaces ideal for rice cultivation.
Very nice and easy trek through the rice terraces. You need a guide to trek here. Passes through the hot spring on the way for a refreshing break. Overall took around 3 hours total walking time in an easy slow pace.

The terraces are lush and vibrant, especially from March to August, when the fields are at their greenest. Wanderlog. These photos were taken in the month of October, so it’s not planting season yet.

We visited the rice terraces during our 4 days 3 nights trip in the Banaue region. It was simply magnificent and we walked the rice terraces completely alone (only with our guide). For me it's a must see if you have a few hours to spend.

The Hapao Rice Terraces is one of the five sites in Ifugao included in the UNESCO World Heritage list under cultural landscape category. It is located in the municipality of Hungduan and is about approximately an hour away from Banaue. Differentiating this site, the Hapao Rice Terrace  is the longest among the five sites and you would not actually see its both ends, according to the tourism officer. Trekking through the terraces is easier thanks to its gentle slopes unlike that of Batad and Banaue.

More scenic than Banaue Rice Terraces in my opinion. Note, I don't think Google Map's pin for this is in the right place: the Hapao Rice Terraces are closer to Ba-ang than Ohaj. I should know because I walked most of it from Banaue and the extra distance wasn't appreciated!

Hungduan Rice Terraces is a breathtaking sight to behold, offering a stunning view of rice terraces, hot spring rivers, and Mt. Napulawan. Located in Banaue Ifugao, it takes about an hour to reach from Hapao. The locals are known for their warm hospitality and the area offers a homely atmosphere. While there are no entrance fees, visitors should be cautious when parking along the narrow highway.
God gave us a wonderful creation that we need to preserve and care for our future generation

If you're gonna go in this place, I recommend Pearls Hungduan Homestay. One of the best Terraces I've ever seen in my life, next to Batad.
