Yaganti Temple is a 15th-century Hindu temple renowned for its intricate stonework and surrounding rock formations. The temple complex consists of three caves, including one dedicated to Lord Shiva, which requires ascending a few steps to reach. The interior of the Shiva temple exudes vitality and color, inviting visitors to linger awhile. Local shops are available outside the temple, situated amidst rocky hills and ruins.
Yaganti Temple is truly a beautiful and divine place. Surrounded by stunning rock formations and peaceful natural scenery, the temple has a unique charm you won't find anywhere else. The ancient architecture, the growing Nandi statue, and the calm caves around make the experience feel spiritual and magical. It's not just a temple, but a perfect blend of nature, history, and devotion. A must-visit if you're looking for beauty and peace together.

You will be amazed to see such a temple ! I'm blessed to visit this temple, where we can witness amazing architecture, and nandi, which is growing year on year. Also the Venkateswara temple next to this, is also great.

Yaganti is located about 80 kms off the NH near Kurnool. The Uma Maheswara Temple is built by the Vijayanagara Kings in the 16th century. The place is surrounded by hills and is surreal. The drive takes you through hills and ravines and is an adventure in itself... worth the drive. We really enjoyed the beauty of the place and its history... legend says that Sage Bramha and Sage Agastya meditated in the caves surrounding the Temple. A must visit with family to understand our Rich culture and history.

Excellent temple, No crow is to be seen with in the premises as cursed by the great sage Agastya muni. 3 caves for Agastya muni, Venkateshwara swamy and Vishnu cave which needs some effort to climb all the stairs. Basavanna seems to be growing inch by inch as prophesised by Srimadvirat Pothuluri veera bhramendra swamy varu.

A wonderful ancient temple where you feel the vibe. The temple pond is there to chill before darshan. The caves were very cool even during the mid hot day.

The location of temple is picturesque. Lord Umamaheswara lingam looks very different!!! The trek to sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple is beautiful!!! Enjoy the nature's Beauty along with spiritual connections....
Pallavan C — Google review
Yaganti temple is very old and historical temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Inside the Garbhagruha, if closely observed, you can see both Uma (Parvathi) and Maheswara (Shiva) images on Lingam, thats why the name Uma Maheswara. We can touch the Lingam if we take special ticket for abhishekam and perform the abhishekam with our own hands. Inside the temple is very calm and peaceful, we can even do the meditation. There is a water pond inside the temple where the water flow continuously, not sure where it comes from. The main attraction of the temple is the Basavanna (Bull), who is growing every year. There are many historical caves around this temple, Dont miss to visit them.

Panchamukhi Anjaneya Temple

At the Abhaya Anjaneya Temple, there is no need to buy any tickets or wait in line to enter. The temple is surrounded by beautiful green nature, creating a peaceful and calm atmosphere. Nearby, there is also the Maa Lakshmi Temple, which adds to the spiritual and serene surroundings among the mountains. One of the most amazing sights here is the natural rock formation. Between two big stones, there is a small stone holding the weight of the larger one above it. It’s truly a wonder to see how the big stone is perfectly balanced on the small one without crushing it. This scene teaches us an important life lesson — no matter whether we are big or small, young or old, everyone faces problems. But, just like that small stone, God gives us the strength and courage to hold our problems and stay strong. Even when strong winds blow, the stones do not fall. Similarly, we must also stand firm in the face of challenges. Nature at this temple teaches us how to live with balance, strength, and faith.

Spiritually Powerful and Serene – A Must-Visit Temple The Panchamukhi Anjaneya Temple, located a short drive from Mantralaya, is a spiritually charged and deeply divine place. Believed to be where Lord Hanuman revealed his five-faced (Panchamukhi) form, this temple is surrounded by natural rock formations and peaceful silence — making the entire experience mystical and unforgettable. The temple stands on a small hill, and as you climb up, you feel a sense of calm and surrender. The deity of Panchamukha Anjaneya is carved into a rock and exudes immense power and grace. Just standing there in silence fills your heart with strength and devotion. The surrounding area is clean, and though the temple is in a remote place, it's well maintained. The scenic view, peaceful vibes, and divine energy make it a perfect stop for anyone visiting Mantralaya. Highly recommended for those seeking inner strength, peace, and blessings from Lord Hanuman. One of the most spiritually fulfilling experiences I've had.

Visited this holy temple on Friday evening around 6PM. Road conditions are good. Iit takes around 30 mins to reach from bichele. We are supposed to see this temple before we visit mantralayain temple as per priests. While going we saw lot of bullocks, good to see farmers are still using them in agriculture.

The Panchamukhi Anjaneya Temple, also known as the Panchamukhi Anjaneya Swamy Temple, is a significant pilgrimage site located in Panchamukhi, near Mantralayam, in the Raichur district of Karnataka, India. It is situated on the south bank of the River Tungabhadra, approximately 15 to 20 kilometers from Mantralayam. The temple is located on a hillock and is renowned for its unique five-faced idol of Lord Hanuman, which is sculpted directly into a large rock, making it a swayambu (self-manifested) form. This temple holds great historical and spiritual significance. It is believed that Sri Raghavendra Swamy, the revered saint of Mantralayam, meditated here for twelve years before settling in Mantralayam. According to legend, Lord Hanuman appeared in his Panchamukhi form (with faces of Hanuman, Hayagriva, Narasimha, Garuda, and Varaha) to Raghavendra Swamy after his meditation. The temple is also associated with the story of Hanuman's battle against Ahiravana, where he took on the five-faced form to extinguish five lamps simultaneously.

Panchamukhi Aanjaneya temple is formed in the rock, along with Aanjaneya you can see laksmi venkataraman, Ganapati and Rayaru. Saturdays you can expect some rush, but other days it's normal. Around this temple you can see Big Rocks naturally formed which looks like bed, Pushpaka vimana. And near by this temple you can visit one more devi temple.

Long queue. 100 rupees/head for a fast darshan. The queues are actually long but it may look small because it is hidden inside the side of the temple. The main Hanuman is inside a cave shielded by a silver armour (type thing) and the idol is flat on the ground (isnt upright) there are many other Idols of Gods and goddesses (upright). Prasadam is a sweet and kalakand(packets) for 50 rupees The way to reach the main shrine is by steps. There is good parking space.

SRI RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY MATHA

Mentioned on

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sri Raghavendra Swami Vaari Matham is a sprawling temple complex situated along the riverside, dedicated to a Hindu saint. The temple boasts of magnificent stone carvings and hosts daily rituals. Visitors can contribute to Annadanam and buy prasadam as well. The temple provides ample space for devotees, with many lodges available in the vicinity for accommodation.
Mantralaya Mutt is a very divine and holy place where Sri Raghavendra Swamy entered Jeeva Samadhi. The atmosphere here is filled with spiritual energy and peace, and as soon as you enter the mutt premises you feel completely blessed. The Brindavana darshan of Rayaru is a life-changing experience, and the chanting of mantras creates a very powerful vibration that touches the heart. The temple is very well maintained and the priests perform seva and puja with great devotion. On special days and Aradhana Mahotsava, the entire mutt is beautifully decorated and thousands of devotees gather to take blessings. Free prasadam is served daily to all, and the arrangements are very organized even when the crowd is heavy. Accommodation is also available nearby with good facilities for pilgrims. Visiting Mantralaya is not just a temple darshan, it is a spiritual journey that gives immense peace, hope and strength. Truly a must-visit place for every devotee of Sri Raghavendra Swamy.

I have visited sri rayara matha recently, it was Ekadashi day so it was very crowd. You will feel different devotional vibes here that you can experience. Suggestion to temple authority: Need to maintain public washrooms and drinking water facility. Private people occupied this void and earning somuch. Suggestion to devotees: As it an sacred place, request everyone to maintain cleanness around the place, and for accommodation do not rely on private hotels, temple rooms are very offordable and well maintained too, please use temple accommodation.

A truly divine and peaceful experience. The Mantralaya temple, the Brindavana of Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy, is a place of immense spiritual power and tranquility. The atmosphere is charged with devotion, and the positive energy is palpable. Spending time here, you can feel the blessings of the Guru. For those planning to visit, here is a helpful tip: If you wish to avoid the long queues, you can purchase the Anna Santarpane (Annadanam) ticket for ₹1000. This ticket is a donation towards the temple's food service and allows up to 8 people to have a special, expedited darshan. I was able to use this ticket multiple times during my visits, which was a great help and allowed me to have darshan without a long wait. It's a fantastic way to both contribute to a noble cause and have a peaceful darshan. I would like to conclude my review with a prayer to Guru Raghavendra. This popular shloka beautifully captures his essence: Poojyaya Raghavendraya Satya Dharma Ratayacha | Bhajatam Kalpa Vrikshaya Namatam Kamdhenave || Meaning: My salutations to the venerable Raghavendra, who is devoted to truth and righteousness. He is like the wish-fulfilling tree to his devotees and like the divine cow (Kamadhenu) to those who bow to him. A visit here is highly recommended for anyone seeking spiritual solace

Good this first no doubt Divine and spiritual place you must visit. Program inside temple and place it self take you to mind fullness. The aura of temple and great sages still overwarms you in peace. Large corridor which can accommodate lot of people special Prasadam (parimala). Crafted all Pura as, temples etc on walls with colourful must watching. Comes to other side discussion Its clear Management cannot handle large crowed. Clearly visible of recommendation and other rules breaking culture in temple like some one come in middle with some one permission and joins directly and go i side. No proper line Management out side temple. people pushing like anything. they are only focused on taking cash tickets but not arranging any board about prices and rules inside no security to handle people who come in middle of line or reverse line. No online transaction only cash. I don't see Digital India they just want cash. Room booking is really like hell you don't get online easily or direct easily. Except the temple and temple corridor you don't find any clean places. Finally you should not talk about roads if you are coming towards jogulamba its just roller coster you get will tried by you reach the temple.

Divine feelings of Raghavendra swamiji is sure, but i hated the system which doesn't care about the people. Mark my words, the next big stampede may happen here. Very hot spot place. Police and people rush management service is nill. The Darshan time is around 5 or 6am, but actually there is no security maintenance to maintain queue system and also no cleanliness in surroundings, There is a ritual to take holy dip in river tungabhadra, but you know there is no proper dress room especially for women and children. Cleanliness is nill here. You take a dip there, you pee there, you spit there, that's the holy water we bathing.I don't what administration and management us doing, but it's worst scenario,as there is rise in devotees government has not yet planned to take an action. If there is something robbery or anything happens, you just can feel that's the fate with no deserving help service from police or security or management. The lodges surrounding here fares ₹3000 to ₹6000, which is too high. Totally it's unplanned, unserviced. I don't know what NEWS MEDIA is doing, there job is to check whether all the things are properly functioning. Cautioning again "Stampede chance is 99%". This is very sacred place. I have been visiting this place since my childhood, now I am 68 years old. During my last visit, I cannot help, but felt this place is changing fast. This place, once very sacred and holy, turning into a tourist spot with all the glitter and grandeur. With ever increasing visitors, there's hardly any facilities. Since the Mutt is under state government, neither the government nor the Mutt administration bother about visitors safety and facilities. No seperate que system for ailing and aged ( senior citizens). Only hefty Seva receipt holders get priorities. Poor Sevarthis left high and dry. Pradakshina and Namaskare Seva has became things of past. Concerned authorities and Mutt administration must act upon these things and try to bring back holiness and sacredness to this place.

Ballari Fort

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Hilltop remains of a stone military fortress, founded in the 16th century and renovated in the 18th.
Go to place for 1 day, but definitely not in summer. Careful with steps as they are uneven at some places. We need to buy a ticket at the bottom of the fort. Taking water bottle is suggested as there is nothing on the way or at the top of the place.
Sneha K — Google review
The fort is amazing .. The 1 star is for the ASI security staffs. They need to be more respectful to the visitors.. no wash room facility as it is locked.. drinking water was available.. Anyway.. it took one hour to reach the top.. carry umbrella and water.. ticket 25 rs.. you need to submit your aadhar id and go to the fort.. collect it after visiting.. access to some visitors were not allowed only because they didn't have proper id with them.. They call your phone number and ask you to come down if you take longer in the fort.. The fort is believed to have been constructed during the Vijayanagara Empire's reign in the 16th century by Hande Hanumappa Nayaka, one of its feudatories. It was later substantially expanded and fortified by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore, in the 18th century. After Hyder Ali's death, his son, Tipu Sultan, made further modifications to the fort to strengthen its defenses. It is said that a French engineer who worked on the fort’s fortification was executed by Tipu Sultan for overlooking a key flaw—the fort was vulnerable to attack from a neighboring hill, Kumbara Gudda. Tipu Sultan believed this flaw compromised the fort’s defensibility, leading to the engineer's death. In 1800, the British East India Company took control of Bellary Fort after defeating Tipu Sultan during the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. The British made some additional modifications and used the fort primarily as an administrative and military base during their occupation.

Bellary Fort is one of the most fascinating yet underrated heritage spots in Karnataka. Built on the massive granite hill called Ballari Gudda (Fort Hill), the fort has a very unique charm where natural boulders are seamlessly blended into its defensive walls. The fort is divided into two parts – the Upper Fort and the Lower Fort. The climb to the Upper Fort is quite steep and requires some effort, but the panoramic view from the top makes it completely worth it. You can see the entire Ballari city, the plains, and the reddish granite glowing beautifully during sunset. The Lower Fort, built later by Hyder Ali with the help of a French engineer, contains barracks, water tanks, and remnants of military structures that give you a glimpse of its historical importance. What I liked: ✅ Spectacular views, especially at sunrise or sunset 🌅 ✅ Peaceful atmosphere with fewer crowds compared to other forts ✅ Great spot for photography and history lovers ✅ Strong historical significance, dating back to Vijayanagara times and later expanded by Hyder Ali What could be improved: ⚠️ Limited signage and information boards – you need a guide or some prior reading to fully appreciate the history ⚠️ No proper shops or facilities nearby – carry water, snacks, and wear good shoes for the climb ⚠️ Maintenance could be better in some areas Overall, Bellary Fort is a hidden gem that deserves more recognition. It may not be as popular as Hampi or Chitradurga, but it offers an authentic experience, untouched beauty, and a chance to feel the history of Karnataka in a very raw and natural setting. Definitely recommended for history enthusiasts, trekkers, and anyone looking for an offbeat heritage trip.

Ballari Fort, located on Ballari Hill in Karnataka, is a historic site built during the Vijayanagara Empire. The fort is divided into two parts: the Upper Fort and the Lower Fort. Key Features: 1. Upper Fort: Built on a monolithic rock, it served as a military stronghold with rugged defenses, including watchtowers and reservoirs. 2. Lower Fort: Constructed later, it housed administrative buildings, a temple, and public spaces. History: Initially built by Hanumappa Nayaka, a feudatory of the Vijayanagara Empire. Strengthened by Hyder Ali of Mysore in the 18th century, who added fortifications with the help of a French engineer. However, a design flaw in cannon placement reportedly led to the engineer's execution. Unique Aspects: The fort's location provides a strategic vantage point with a panoramic view of the city. It features a blend of Indian and Islamic architectural styles. The hill and surrounding area are rich in granite, contributing to the fort's durable construction. Today, Ballari Fort is a popular tourist attraction, reflecting the region's military and cultural history.

Bellary Hill Fort is a magnificent, stunning fortification, one of the top three best forts in our beautiful state undoubtedly. Having visited so many of them in our state I can confidently say so. Maintained very well by the ASI. I and my friend hiked up the fort (400+ steep steps) recently in Aug 2025 early morning, starting around 7.15am when weather was kind. If you can buy online ticket on ASI website on the spot, can enter early morning. If you want to buy off line, the counter opens at 830am. Location is well within city limits. The fort is simply awesome. Nevertheless, it was sad to see our distinguished visitors discarding their plastic waste wherever they wish all along the Fort. ASI doesn't have so much resources to clean up trash left behind by our distinguished visitors on an ongoing basis... The fort has three layers of fortification. Walking along each of the periphery itself is quite long, as we found it for ourselves. Don't miss visiting this magnificent, sprawling fort. Pls remember to leave it clean, carry your waste with you back to base. At the base clean washrooms available. An ancient Nandi temple is also located at the base. The Shree Vijaya Vitthala Temple, dating back to the 15th century, is a massive complex showcasing the architectural brilliance of the Vijayanagara empire. Dedicated to Lord Vitthala, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, it features various shrines and halls including the Maha Mantapa, Kalayana Mantapa, Devi Shrine, Utsav Mantapa and Ranga Mantapa. The iconic stone chariot in its courtyard is a striking structure that was once movable.
Vijaya Vittala Temple is one of Hampi’s most impressive and iconic sites. The temple complex showcases incredible Vijayanagara architecture with detailed carvings, massive stone pillars, and beautifully sculpted mantapas. The Stone Chariot is a must-see and makes for amazing photographs, while the musical pillars in the Maha Mantapa are a unique marvel you can actually hear different notes when they are struck. The temple grounds are spacious and peaceful, allowing you to explore at your own pace and admire the artistry up close. Visiting early in the morning or late afternoon helps avoid crowds and the midday heat. A must visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or just soaking in the beauty of Hampi.

First of all, don't forget to bring a new crisp 50Rs note to take a pic with the stone chariot which is depicted on the note. Very beautiful and super intricately carved temple. Each idol is a work of art and it is difficult to fathom the depth and explanation without a good guide. Guide will explain the background, context, art, detailing and even the sound of various indian instruments by tapping on the columns. While planning a trip here, please understand that this temple can be accessed through two ways- First is the regular way to come to Vitthala temple parking and then proceed to temple by electric cart or by walking. By walking, you can explore the mantapas, temples and pushkarnis (ponds) on the way. Even some endemic plants, unique flowers and insects can be observed. Second way, a little adventurous and involving mild hiking is to come from Hampi Bazaar side, crossing Monolithic Nandi, Achutraya temple complex, Bazaar, taking right after pushkarni, from Varahaswamu gudi, lamp stand, kings balance and finally reaching Vitthala temple taking around 30-50 minutes depending on your fitness level. On the way, you can see Matunga hills on right and Tungabhadra river on left. Tickets for entrance are available at parking or also near the entry of Vitthala temple but mobile signals may be challenging here so keep small cash ready. Not much public amenities and if you plan to walk, especially in summer time, don't forget to keep water.

One of the most breathtaking monuments in Hampi! Vitthala Temple truly feels like walking into history. The intricate stone carvings, the iconic stone chariot, and the musical pillars make this place unforgettable. The architecture is grand yet so detailed—you can spend hours just admiring every corner. The surroundings are peaceful, and the walk toward the temple is scenic with ruins all around, giving a glimpse of Hampi’s glorious past. It’s well-maintained and perfect for photography, especially during early morning or golden hour. A must-visit spot if you’re exploring Hampi—absolutely worth your time!

Must visit place of hampi ruins. The famous chariot appearing on Indian rupee is here. Some of the buildings are very huge and detailed like music pillars etc. There is a river backside of the huge place which is a must walk , it was so good due to monsoon end and water flow was more. Pick and drop from parking is chargeable via battery car for rs. 20 per head if you wish to take that which I'll recommend to take it - else you need to walk like 750 ms inside. You will get a guides there to explain about the history of the temple. They will charge you 500rs. Must visiting place.

The Shree Vijaya Vitthala Temple is not merely a ruin; it is the architectural crown jewel of Hampi and the Vijayanagara Empire, captivating visitors with its unparalleled craftsmanship. Dedicated to an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, this 15th-century Dravidian masterpiece showcases the peak of South Indian temple design. The temple complex is famed for two monumental attractions. First, the iconic Stone Chariot (a shrine designed as an ornamental chariot), which stands as the state's most recognized symbol and is featured on the ₹50 note. Second, the incredible Ranga Mandapa with its 56 Musical Pillars (or 'SaReGaMa' pillars). When gently tapped, these large granite columns emit distinct musical notes, a testament to the ancient sculptors' sophisticated knowledge of acoustics and stone carving. Though the main idol is gone, the sprawling campus, with its intricately carved halls, shrines, and towering gateways, offers a profoundly immersive journey into a glorious past. Budget a minimum of two hours here to truly appreciate its artistry.

Shree Vijaya Vittala Temple is the crown jewel of Hampi and one of the most breathtaking architectural wonders I have ever seen in India. This temple is not just a monument it is history frozen in stone, showcasing the artistic excellence of the Vijayanagara Empire. The first thing that amazed me was the iconic Stone Chariot, which is the symbol of Karnataka tourism. Seeing it in real life felt surreal the detailing, the symmetry, and the precision of the stonework are truly unbelievable. Just behind it, the Musical Pillars (Saregama Pillars) inside the Maha Mantapa are a masterpiece of engineering and creativity. Each pillar produces musical notes when tapped something that still surprises modern architects! The temple complex is massive, with beautiful carvings, open corridors, pavilions, and mandapas that reflect stories of gods, dancers, musicians, and royal life. Even though the structure is partly in ruins, it still holds incredible grace and power. What I loved most was the peaceful atmosphere — no loud noise, just the gentle wind passing through ancient pillars. The sunset light falling on the stones creates a golden glow that makes the entire temple look divine. It’s a perfect place for photographers, history lovers, devotees, and travellers seeking inspiration. There is a bit of walking required to reach the temple (around 1 km from the parking area), but the scenic pathway with boulders and greenery makes it worth it. The temple is maintained nicely, and guides are available if you want to learn deeper history. If you visit Hampi and don’t see the Vittala Temple, you miss the soul of Hampi. This is not just a heritage site — it’s a living example of India’s artistic brilliance. Truly unforgettable! Just Abinash YouTuber | Traveller

The Elephant Stables in Hampi, India, are a remarkable example of Indo-Islamic architecture and were once used to house the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. This well-preserved 16th-century structure boasts 11 intricately carved rooms set in grassy grounds. Despite the entry fee, visitors find it worth it for the chance to explore the cool stone buildings and relax on the expansive lawn.
Just next to the Lotus Mahal lies one of the most iconic sights of Hampi - the Elephant Stables. This long row of 11 interconnected domed chambers once housed the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara kings. The Indo-Islamic design is impressive, with each dome having a slightly different pattern. The structure is remarkably intact and gives a sense of the empire’s grandeur. The spacious lawns in front make it perfect for photos. Even after centuries, it stands strong and remains one of the best-preserved examples of royal architecture in Hampi.

It is an impressive structure that was used to provide shelter for the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is in excellent condition that has survived through the years. The elaborate structure indicates the importance attached to the royal elephants during those days. It also suggests towards the amazing craftsmanship of the artisans of that era. Lots of people here, careful with personal belongings. Toilets available. Fee charged for entry. Higher fees for foreigners. Great place for photography.

Stepping into the Elephant Stables in Hampi is like walking onto a beautifully preserved royal stage. This magnificent long building is a highlight of the Vijayanagara ruins, showcasing a striking blend of Indo-Islamic architecture. Each of the eleven domed chambers, where the royal elephants were housed, is unique and impressively large. The grand central chamber is particularly ornate. The sheer scale and symmetry of the structure are breathtaking, offering a powerful glimpse into the empire's former glory. Set against a vast, manicured lawn, it's a remarkably peaceful and photogenic spot, making it an absolute must-see.

I really enjoyed visiting the Elephant Stable in Hampi! 🐘 It’s a cool historical site built to house the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. The architecture is a mix of Indian and Islamic styles, and the 11 large chambers are pretty amazing. 🏰 The central dome is the biggest and most beautiful. Even though the building shows some wear from time, it’s still in good shape and a great place to explore. 🕰️ I spent around an hour here, and it was peaceful and interesting. ✨

Elephant Stables at Hampi The Elephant Stables at Hampi are one of the most remarkable structures that reflect the grandeur and architectural brilliance of the Vijayanagara Empire. Located near the Zenana Enclosure, these stables were built in the 15th century during the reign of the Vijayanagara kings. They were used to house royal elephants, which played an important role in warfare, ceremonies, and processions. Today, the Elephant Stables stand as a symbol of the empire’s power, discipline, and artistic excellence. The structure is an elongated rectangular building with eleven large chambers arranged side by side. Each chamber has a tall arched doorway, which provided enough space for a full-grown elephant to enter and rest comfortably. The stables are built with strong stone and mortar, reflecting the Vijayanagara rulers’ emphasis on durability. The central chamber is larger and more decorated compared to the others, possibly used for housing the royal elephant. One of the most fascinating features of the Elephant Stables is their unique architectural style. The domes on the roof are built in various shapes—some are circular, some octagonal, and others pointed, resembling Islamic architecture. This shows how Vijayanagara builders skillfully blended Indo-Islamic styles, creating structures that were both functional and artistic. The ornamentation is minimal, but the symmetry and proportions make the stables aesthetically pleasing. Elephants were considered symbols of power and prestige in medieval India. They were used in battles, royal parades, and religious ceremonies. Housing such magnificent animals in a grand structure reflected the prosperity and strength of the Vijayanagara Empire. The stables were not just shelters but also well-ventilated and spacious, ensuring the comfort of the elephants. This highlights the kingdom’s sense of discipline and organization. Today, the Elephant Stables are a major attraction for visitors to Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tourists from all over the world come to admire this masterpiece of medieval architecture. Surrounded by lush green lawns and other ruins, the stables give us a glimpse into the lifestyle and priorities of the Vijayanagara rulers. In conclusion, the Elephant Stables at Hampi are not just remnants of the past but a proud reminder of India’s glorious heritage. They stand as an architectural marvel, combining strength and elegance, and continue to fascinate historians, architects, and travelers alike.

The Elephant Stables in Hampi is an impressive structure that once housed 11 royal elephants. Each of the 11 interconnected domed chambers has its own unique design, showcasing a beautiful blend of Indo-Islamic architecture. The central dome is larger and more ornate, likely reserved for the most important elephant. The symmetry, scale, and craftsmanship are remarkable, making it one of the most photographed and well preserved monuments in Hampi, a true reflection of the Vijayanagara Empire’s grandeur.
Arun N — Google review
This magnificent 15" century structure, built in the Indo-Islamic style of architecture, is considered to be the stable for the state elephants. However, it is also argued to be a palace secretariat. This long rectangular structure is 85 x 10 m in dimension. It faces west and has eleven large domed chambers. They are identical, with recessed niches on three sides and an arched entrance on the west. Out of the eleven chambers, 8 have arched small openings on the east wall. Three more arched small openings are found on the north and south walls connecting four chambers. Between the entrance arches, the exterior represents small arches topped by three smaller arched niches and miniature recesses with angled tops. Above, the chambers rise domes symmetrically arranged and of varying types such as circular, octagonal, ribbed and fluted in design. Above the central chamber is a ruined two-storeyed structure that is reached by two staircases. There are remnants of ornate stucco and plaster ornamentation, on both the exterior and interior, which were once part of the architecture and design of the building.

The Virupaksha Temple in Hampi is one of the most magnificent and spiritually powerful landmarks in South India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is not just a place of worship but a living heritage site that has continued to thrive for over a thousand years. Located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River, the temple’s towering gopuram (gateway tower) welcomes visitors from afar and sets the tone for the divine atmosphere inside. As soon as you enter, you’re captivated by the intricate carvings, detailed pillars, and age-old murals that narrate stories from Indian mythology. The temple complex is vast and beautifully maintained, preserving its ancient charm while still being active with daily rituals and devotees. You can witness traditional pujas, hear the ringing of bells, and feel the spiritual energy that fills the air. One of the unique experiences here is watching the inverted shadow of the main tower cast naturally inside one of the inner chambers—a fascinating example of ancient Indian architectural brilliance. The temple elephant, Lakshmi, often blesses visitors near the entrance, adding to the temple’s warm and traditional feel. The surroundings of the temple are equally mesmerizing, with the Hampi Bazaar, river ghats, and ancient ruins nearby, making it a perfect starting point for exploring Hampi’s rich history. Early mornings and evenings are the best times to visit, especially during sunrise or sunset, when the golden light enhances the beauty of the temple and the granite hills around it. Definitely a must-visit spot in Hampi for anyone who enjoys history, art, or just a bit of peace.

Virupaksha Temple is a truly amazing 7th-century temple that honours Lord Shiva. It’s a fantastic example of Dravidian architecture. What makes it even more special is that it’s the oldest building still standing in Hampi, which sets it apart from the other ruins of the ancient Vijayanagara Empire.
Nil C — Google review
Virupaksha Temple, Hampi - one of the most fascinating and spiritually active heritage sites in India, and a must-visit when in Hampi. The massive temple complex was originally built by Lakkana Dandesha, a chieftain under King Deva Raya II of the Vijayanagara Empire. The architecture and craftsmanship here are breathtaking — a fine example of how art, devotion, and science blended seamlessly in ancient India. The main temple consists of a sanctum, three ante chambers, a beautifully pillared hall, and an open mandapa, all surrounded by smaller shrines, courtyards, and gateways. The nine-tiered eastern gopuram, rising nearly 50 meters high, is the most striking feature. With a stone base and a brick superstructure, it dominates the skyline of Hampi and serves as the main entrance to the temple’s outer court filled with sub-shrines. A smaller eastern gateway leads to the inner court, while another northern gateway — the Kanakagiri Gopura — connects to the Tungabhadra River through a small enclosure of shrines. A narrow channel from the river even flows along the temple terrace and down into the old temple kitchen — a clever example of ancient water management. One of the most fascinating details is how the temple design incorporates mathematical concepts and fractal geometry. The triangular main structure and the repeating carved patterns on the towers demonstrate symmetry and self-repetition, almost like natural fractals — proof of how advanced and thoughtful ancient Indian architecture was. Inside, you’ll also find the famous pinhole image effect — where sunlight passes through a small hole and projects an inverted image of the gopuram inside a dark chamber. Small wonders like this make the temple feel alive with ingenuity. The temple is located at the end of Hampi Bazaar, right beside the Tungabhadra River, and the surroundings are vibrant with pilgrims, locals, and travelers. Early mornings and evenings are the best times to visit — the golden light against the sandstone and river backdrop is mesmerizing.

Visited Virupaksha Temple, Hampi 🛕 Over the weekend…. One of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Hampi .. still active and full of divine energy 🙏. The tall Gopura is amazing, and inside temple you can even see its shadow appear upside down on the temple wall — a must-see! You can also visit the small shrine of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari Devi (Karnataka Kuladevate) inside the temple. The whole place is very peaceful and clean. There’s a big pond outside the temple which adds to the beauty of the surroundings. You’ll also see many monkeys around, so keep an eye on your belongings. For a closer darshan, there is a ₹25 ticket that allows you to walk near the main god and have a blissful darshan of Lord Veerupaksha. It can get crowded at times, but the experience is totally worth it. Need to walk bit from parking area.. A must-visit place in Hampi for its history, architecture, and spiritual vibes. 🙏

The Virupaksha Temple in Hampi, Karnataka, is a stunning example of South Indian temple architecture and an enduring symbol of Hindu faith. Dating back to the 7th century, it was expanded under the Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th century, becoming a grand center of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva, known here as Virupaksha. The temple complex features a towering 9-tiered gopuram (entrance tower), intricate carvings, pillared halls, and sacred shrines that reflect the spiritual and artistic brilliance of the era. A living temple, Virupaksha has never ceased to function, even after the fall of Hampi in 1565, and remains an active site of devotion. It hosts the grand annual chariot festival and betrothal celebrations of Lord Virupaksha and Goddess Pampa, attracting thousands of devotees. The temple’s sanctity, centuries-old traditions, and architectural majesty make it a cornerstone of Karnataka’s cultural and religious heritage, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Chitradurga Fort, located in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, is one of the most remarkable forts in southern India, known for its stunning architecture and strategic design. Built between the 10th and 18th centuries by the Chalukyas and later expanded by the Nayakas, the fort is popularly called Kallina Kote or the “Fort of Stones.” It features seven concentric fortification walls, secret passages, watchtowers, and water reservoirs that demonstrate exceptional engineering skills. The fort gained historical importance during the rule of Madakari Nayaka and is famously associated with the brave Onake Obavva, who defended it single-handedly against Hyder Ali’s soldiers. With its massive boulders, winding paths, and panoramic views, Chitradurga Fort stands as a symbol of valor, resilience, and the architectural genius of ancient Karnataka. The tickets are very affordable. The place is well maintained and clean.

Shivamogga Zoo & Safari is a wildlife park and zoo that houses a variety of animals including lions, tigers, rare birds, and primates. The environment around the zoo is clean and well-maintained. While some visitors have noted that there are fewer animals to see at times, it's still considered a great place to visit with family and friends. The entry ticket prices are reasonable for a day of enjoyment.
🌿 Shimoga Tiger-Lion Safari – Full Gen Z Review Okay fam, let’s talk about the Shimoga Tiger-Lion Safari (Tyavarekoppa Safari) – honestly, it was a vibe. If you’re someone who loves nature but also wants that lil’ adrenaline rush of seeing wild animals up close, this spot is low-key perfect. 🐅 Safari Experience The main attraction? Definitely the tigers and lions. The safari bus (yes, it’s caged, so chill 😂) takes you through the park, and the moment a tiger or lion casually strolls near the bus – bruhhh, chills. It feels surreal to see them in a semi-natural habitat instead of behind tiny zoo bars. There’s also leopards, sloth bears, deer, and a bunch of birds. The bird section is actually super calming – like nature therapy after the big-cat drama. ⏰ Best Time to Visit Pull up in the morning (10 AM – 12 PM or 3PM to 5PM) if you actually wanna see animals moving around instead of them napping in the shade like lazy roommates. November to February = peak season. Cooler weather, better pics, and more active animals. Summer afternoons? Hard pass. Both you and the animals will just be melting. 🛠️ Facilities & Chill Points Tickets are mad affordable. Entry fee is like a couple of snacks’ worth, and the safari ride doesn’t break your wallet either. Perfect for college students or squad hangouts. There’s a food corner for tea, snacks, and basics – don’t expect fancy café vibes, but it gets the job done. Parking is easy, so no stressing about where to leave your car/bike. If you’re with fam, kids are gonna love it – they even have a small play area. Surrounded by greenery, so your lungs get a break from city pollution. 📸 Content Creator POV If you’re into photography or just wanna flex on the ‘Gram, this place is solid. The animals look majestic, the greenery gives forest-core aesthetics, and if you catch golden hour, your reels will be 🔥. Just remember: charge your phone/camera fully, because wild animals don’t wait for you to find your charger. 💡 Pro Tips for the Safari Hit it early morning = more animal action. Rock comfy outfits & sneakers – you’ll walk around a bit. Carry water, because hydration >>> everything. If you’re going in summer, sunscreen is your bestie. 🎯 Final Take The Shimoga Tiger-Lion Safari is not like some wild African savannah, but for Karnataka, it’s a solid 9/10 experience. Affordable, chill, and packed with wild energy. Whether you’re with friends, family, or even solo, it’s a refreshing break from city life. If you’re in or near Shimoga, don’t even think twice – just go. You’ll leave with cool memories, dope pics, and maybe a new favorite spot to recommend.

Visited Shimoga Zoo and Safari recently, and honestly, it felt more like just a zoo than an actual safari. The "safari" experience was underwhelming — the animals, including the tigers, were in enclosures just like in the zoo, so it didn’t feel like a true safari at all. There was only one lion, and overall, the zoo section wasn’t very impressive either. There's definitely a lot of room for improvement in terms of animal habitats, maintenance, and visitor experience. That said, the highlight was getting to see some big cats up close — lions, tigers, leopards, and even a black panther, which was exciting. But beyond that, it didn’t quite meet expectations.

The forest space is huge but has only a lion and a couple of tigers. The guide informed that they are bringing in 4 more tigers from bengal in the month of October. We took a private jeep and yet the tour was rushed by the guide stating that it was peak season and hence reducing a star. There were plenty of deer families and the bisons were magnificent.

Not at all worth for the money we pay for both safari and zoo. No much animals / reptiles / birds. No much maintenance too with respect to animals. Eatables are available only at the exit of zoo. Park will be occupied only by adults without even caring for small children. Cycle is available to roam inside the zoo at Rs.50. Parking fee must be paid at the entrance itself

Although it has almost all type of animals , count of the same are limited . It’s really good place for kids to learn and enjoy. I recommend parents to get ther kids to visit . So not compare it with Bangalore or Mysore. This zoo is well maintained. I don’t recommend safari here but if you have time and first time visiting then it’s worth.

A very poorly managed Zoo and Safari near Shimoga. Only One lion and two tigers were there in the Safari Enclave, all of them in cages and we need to travel in fully secured buses to watch caged predators.... What is the logic behind this? Why it is called a Safari? Rs. 250 is the ticket cost per person for Zoo and Safari, totally worthless for the Safari Part. Moreover, despite having so many buses, the drivers used to wait till all the 20 seats got occupied and we made to wait for nearly 20 minutes inside the bus for other people to come.... Disgusting indeed.....!

Zoo still under upgradation Quite a good place Not comparable to Mysore and Hyderabad Zoo's Safari was very nice ..... especially the details explanation form the safar jeep staff

Sakrebyle Elephant Camp, part of the Jungle Lodges and Resorts, offers a unique opportunity to see captive elephants and even enjoy elephant rides and bathing for an additional fee. The camp provides comfortable accommodations in a natural setting, with attentive staff who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. Visitors can expect clean lodgings, delicious local food, and the chance to immerse themselves in nature while being close to the elephant camp.
I recently stayed here and had a wonderful experience. The wooden cottages were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, offering a comfortable and relaxing environment. The service was equally impressive — the staff was warm, attentive, and always ready to assist, which made the stay even more enjoyable. One of the highlights of the location is its proximity to an elephant training camp and a nearby elephant bathing area. It was truly a unique and memorable experience to watch the elephants up close and even participate in their bath session. Overall, it’s a perfect place to unwind while enjoying a bit of nature and local charm. Highly recommended for families and nature lovers!

We had a fantastic experience at Jungle Lodge Sakrebyle Elephant Camp! The staff were very accommodating and helpful. We requested them to arrange a cake for our daughter's birthday, and they kindly brought one, making the day even more special. The elephant interaction was wonderful - we got to bathe and spend time with these majestic creatures. The natural surroundings and rain added to the charm. The staff's kindness and efforts to make our stay memorable were truly appreciated. Overall, a great experience! 🐘🎂 5/5 stars

We were 2 families with 4 kids. Calling on prior day of travel to check on our visit and food preference gave confidence on our reservation, very nice gesture. Everyone at the resort from the pick up/drop vehicle, guide explaining all details on itinerary, dining staff patience, house keeping staff quick service, less spicy food but with good quality, decent nature walk trek, very good boating, everything was good. Premises kept clean, elephant interaction was very nice especially for kids. Special part was elephants stopping near resort was too good. Team was well prepared to be patient and provide great service, memorable vacation.

Had a wonderful time at Sakrebyle Elephant Camp! From the moment we arrived, everything felt so peaceful and well taken care of. The stay was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff ( Venkatesh & Santhosh along with two others) were genuinely warm and helpful. The highlight, of course, was spending time with the elephants — watching them, interacting, and learning about them up close was such a beautiful experience. It’s one of those places that leaves you with a calm mind and a happy heart. Would definitely love to visit again! 🐘

Amazing authentic experience. First time I saw so many elephants and somewhat authentic and rustic experience. They also allow elephants to roam freely after 1pm in the jungle. They also feed elephants at 12, though we’re not allowed to feed them. Kids will love it.
Raj N — Google review
Had a good stay here at the Sakrebylu JLR. Since it's close to a forest, rooms had worms, millipedes and frogs - but this is unavoidable. The food was quite tasty and we had a very good experience bathing the elephants here! Try reaching this place before 1245 pm - at about 1 pm the elephants will return from the river to go to their resting place, and they pass through the JLR. So you can view them at close range. Also, bathing the elephants is only visa limited booked slots, that too mostly for people booking their stay at the JLR. Elephant bathing activity happens only from 9 to 10 am. Go with the JLR person, talk to them and maybe give them a few rupees and they will ensure you get a good slot and bathing experience.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Sakrebyle Elephant Camp Jungle Lodges & Resorts. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant and memorable. The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and offered a very comfortable stay, while the food was absolutely amazing – fresh, tasty, and served with warmth. A special mention and kudos to the brilliant team of naturalists – Mr. Suresh and Mr. Abhi. They made our treks unforgettable by sharing their vast knowledge of the forest, carefully explaining about the plants, animals, and their lifestyles. They even showed us different pug marks and footprints of leopards, deer, and elephants, and explained how mahouts track elephants using footprints and chain marks – truly fascinating! The highlight was definitely the interaction with the elephants at the camp. Watching them up close and even helping in bathing them was a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Overall, this place offered not just a pleasant stay but an enriching journey into nature, with warm hospitality, great food, clean rooms, and unforgettable experiences. Highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with nature in the most authentic way.
Nitin S — Google review
The name of the place is highly misleading. It doesn't have any link with the Elephant Camp, just that it is located opposite to the camp. If the purpose is only to visit the elephant camp, it would be better to stay in any nearby hotel (Shimogga is 15 minutes drive) and arrive at the camp directly at 9AM. Once we are at the camp, it dosn't matter whether you stay at this resort or not. Room was old but clean, we stayed in wooden cottage. Food options were limited but everything they served was tasty. Children play area is begging to be renovated. No other amenities to keep kids enganged. Once we arrived, lunch was ready and after that they took us to boat ride. But, this was paid and they skipped nature walk for this and mentioned that the morning trek would be same as nature walk. But the boat ride was a big dissapointment, it is just a small 10 to 15 minutes ride on the boat. Coffee, snacks were served along with a documentary show. The show about Bhadra Santuary was played on a small TV with very low volume which doesn't serve any purpose at all. Soup was served with campfire followed by dinner. While walking back from dinner to the room, a venomous pit head viper was spotted and promptly removed by the staff, luckily before anyone stepped on it. The lighting in the property is not adequate. Early morning, the trekking was cancelled a wild elephant was spotted. They could have taken for a walk or bird watching, but they didn't oblige. Next activity was elephant interaction. They dropped us in the camp. Entrance was free but, ticket was to be bought for elephant bathing! They could have included that as well. We had to check out after the elephant interaction. Overall, the rate they charged included only a night of accomodation and food, which is grossly overpriced.

Hebbe Waterfalls

Mentioned on

Waterfalls
Hebbe Waterfalls is a picturesque tourist attraction on a coffee estate featuring cascading waterfalls standing at 551 feet tall. Visitors can access the falls by hiking or hiring an SUV for about INR 3-4k accommodating up to seven people. The SUV ride is quite thrilling and lasts for about half an hour. Once at the parking lot, visitors must walk to reach Hebbe Falls which takes around 20-30 minutes.
I recently visited this beautiful waterfall, and it was a truly refreshing experience! The waterfall is stunning — surrounded by lush greenery and a calm atmosphere that makes the short trek absolutely worth it. To reach the falls, you’ll need to take a jeep safari. Both KSTDC jeeps and private jeeps are available. I’d highly recommend booking tickets in advance and going with KSTDC. Their vehicles are well-maintained, they carry only a limited number of people, and the overall experience feels more organized. Private jeeps, on the other hand, tend to charge more and often expect passengers to adjust beyond the jeep’s actual capacity, which can make the ride less comfortable. From the dropping point, you’ll get exactly one hour to visit the falls. The jeep will wait there for your return. It takes around 20 minutes to walk down to the waterfall, where you can spend about 20 minutes enjoying the view, and then another 20 minutes to head back. Tip: If you’re visiting on a public holiday or during peak season and haven’t booked in advance, be prepared for a longer waiting time for jeeps. Overall, this place is perfect for a short and scenic adventure. Comfortable footwear, a water bottle, and pre-booked jeep tickets will make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.

Hebbe Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve visited in Karnataka. The journey itself is memorable — you can either take a jeep ride through the forest or trek part of the way. The fall cascades beautifully into two stages, and the misty surroundings make it feel magical. It’s a great place for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape. Do carry some snacks and water, as there are no shops nearby. Best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon!

Visited on 03.11.2025. Must visit waterfalls when you visit chikkamagaluru. To reach the waterfalls we have to take Off-roading jeep ride and cost of the ride per person was ₹590. The off-roading route was covered with full of scenic views and every view is beautiful one. Jeep will stop at a place which is 1 km far from the waterfalls and we have to walk that distance. Driver will take UPI payments only, he will took the amount at the middle of the ride because there will be no signals at the starting point.

Hebbe Falls is a very beautiful natural waterfall and a must-visit destination. The location is scenic and peaceful, making it a great place to enjoy nature. The natural flow of water looks stunning and adds to the charm of the place.

The most beautiful place. I had been there two times. To reach there, we took jeep ride as other commercial and private vehicles are not allowed. Price per head is 599. You will enjoy the journey with scenic view on the way to waterfall. If you have any back pain and all, suggest not to visit and road is good. But it’s worth to get pain to reach there.

The experience is awesome. So beautiful and that off roading is worth every penny. So close to nature. On trekking path , 2 or 3 streams you will find. You will get to see crab, fish everything there. It's so refreshing and beautiful journey. For the jeep ride per head they will charge 590. Beware of the leeches. Such a beautiful place to visit in the winters.

Hebbe Waterfalls is an absolutely breathtaking destination and a must-visit for nature lovers! The off-road jeep ride to reach the falls is an adventure in itself — bumpy, thrilling, and full of scenic beauty all around. Once the jeep ride ends, there’s a 1 and half KM walk through lush greenery and small streams, which makes the journey even more enjoyable and refreshing. When you finally reach the falls, the view is simply mesmerizing — crystal-clear water cascading down surrounded by dense forest and mist. The sound of the waterfall and the cool breeze make it a peaceful and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Chikmagalur! 🌿💦

Hebbe falls is one of the best waterfalls I have been to, the overall lead to it was great, the jeep safari through the hills, then a short 10 minute teek, finally you get to the majestic looking falls and it was all worth it. Water flow was a bit high when we went in October so we could not get too close but still it was worth it. There is a broad waterfall in front a smaller one on top in the foreground. On the way to the falls, you will also cover two small bridges which was beautiful.

Baba Budan giri, also known as Chandra Drona Mountain Range, is a revered pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Muslims. It is home to the shrine of Sufi Saint Baba Budan and boasts stunning landscapes with lush greenery. The area is famous for the rare blooming of kurinji flowers once every 12 years.
Ride is truly enjoyable only if you go by bike otherwise, you won’t get the same thrill. Road conditions aren’t great, but the route takes you to Baba Budangiri. eventually to Manikya Dwara(complete mud road). Sitalayyana giri and mullayana giri on the way but need to take diversion. Visit the dargah here (remember to leave your shoes outside as per the tradition) divine experience ! Roads near the top become quite narrow (be careful if are riding alone) so you need to be cautious. A ride during the monsoon makes the whole experience even more memorable, with mist and greenery adding to the charm.

This is a very popular hill station near Chikmagalur that invariably is on the itinerary of every tourist. The drive itself is very scenic and beautiful. The road at places is bad but overall a good experience. Even though we visited this place on a weekday there was a good number of tourists. Light drizzle and a slightly misty top provided a surreal view.

The corn-shaped peak of Baba Budangiri is absolutely scenic and unique, offering stunning panoramic views all around. We visited in the October end, it was great. We can go by our own vehicle to the top. Road is also good. It was fully covered by snow and you can feel the clouds passing by. And also there a temple within caves, but phones are not allowed inside. Nice place to visit, if it’s not covered by snow then you can get great view.

Baba Budangiri Peak is a peaceful and scenic spot that offers a refreshing break from the busy tourist trails of Chikkamagaluru. The moment you reach the top, the cool breeze, wide-open valley views, and calm surroundings make it an instantly enjoyable place to relax. It’s less crowded compared to Mullayanagiri, which adds to the serenity and makes it perfect for spending quiet time with nature. The drive up the hill is beautiful, with lush greenery and winding roads. At the peak, you’ll find a few refreshment stalls serving tea, coffee, and snacks—perfect to enjoy while taking in the views. The weather is usually cool and pleasant, and the panoramic scenery is fantastic for photography. Baba Budangiri also holds cultural and historical significance, with viewpoints that you can explore if you have extra time. The overall atmosphere is spiritual, calm, and soothing. A truly enjoyable and scenic spot, great for families, friends, or anyone looking to unwind in nature. A must-visit place when exploring the Chikkamagaluru hills.

Baba Budangiri Peak: A Mesmerizing Journey to Serene Views Baba Budangiri Peak is truly a captivating destination, and I've been fortunate enough to visit multiple times, even making it a combined trip with Kallathigiri Falls on one occasion. The journey up to the peak itself is absolutely mesmerizing, winding through beautiful landscapes. Be aware that the forest department collects an entrance fee and conducts checks upon entry. Once you get closer, you'll find there are about 3-4 distinct points to explore, including the main peak, a viewpoint, and a waterfall. You can park your vehicle near the stalls and dargah at the top, from where it's roughly a 2km walk to the peak. Alternatively, if you have a bike or a vehicle with good ground clearance, you can actually drive right up to the last point; it's not as difficult as some might claim. Don't be swayed by local vehicles trying to charge a lot by stating the terrain is unmanageable – that's often not true. Once you reach the final parking spot, making the short 10-15 minute climb to the very top of the peak is a must. The view from up there is simply serene, often cloaked in a mesmerizing fog, creating a wonderfully calm atmosphere. As you enter the area, you'll find stalls selling refreshments like Maggi, bread omelet, fruits, and water, though do note that these items are a little pricier than usual. It's a fantastic place to experience nature's grandeur and find some peace.

Mullayanagiri Peak, standing at 1,925 meters, is the highest point in Karnataka and offers breathtaking views and a summit temple. The peak is renowned for its serene atmosphere, lush grasslands, and rugged rocks. Adventure enthusiasts flock to this popular trekking destination with its snake trails, moraine and rocky patches, rolling hills, camping grounds, and cave explorations. Nearby coffee plantations add to the allure of the area.

This is the highest peak in Karnataka, stands tall at 6330 feet.👍 Named after sage Mullappa swamy, who believed to have mediated in a cave at the peak. Located 20+ KMs from Chikkamagaluru, would need 40+ minutes due to the winding and scenic hilly roads. Make a note to get the Mullayanagiri vehicle pass online in advance to allow the car thru the checkpost as there are limits on the number of vehicles entering in a day. Need to park the vehicle at Seethalayana giri base and avail a local jeep services (Rs.50 per person one way) there. Jeep drops at the Mullayanagiri base / parking lot and from there it is a 20-25 minutes climb through paved stairs. There are around 450+ stairs, not very even, challenging for people with mobility issues. The climb is beautiful, offers great views of Chikkamagaluru valleys, Baba Budangiri hills and Shola forests, grasslands and distant waterfalls There are no restrooms at the peak, carry water, At the base there are many food cart vendors for snacks. No restaurants or ATMs. Weather keeps changing, most of the time mist engulfs blocking the views and offers a different kind of experience. Carry a light jacket, may tend to get colder post monsoon. At the peak/summit, there is Mullappa swamy temple and a milestone mentioning the height. The summit area can be kept clean and neat, on the other side some old buildings, thrash and debris are seen. ☹️ Would be a great place for taking pics and enjoying scenery/nature 👍

Visited this place before local authorities has made booking tickets online. View is great. Morning views are still beautiful. There is a temple at the top. One can easily spend half a day. One has to park their vehicle near Seethalayyana giri and walk or take jeep for next 3km. Even if you take jeep ride, they'll stop around 1.5 km before actual peak. So, it is very much convenient to walk as the path is very good and not much steep. There are some food vendors near the temple and near Seethalayyana giri.
Likhith C — Google review
Great view point. We spent ₹100 at entry, we have to do the booking online only from the website we can do, if you haven’t done you can do at the toll, even if you have network issues they have wifi. Cars ₹100 There are slots, mostly in weekends better book earlier. Bike no charge So u can go by own vehicle or rental or by package too. Own vehicle earlier is allowed till top, now they stop 3km before peak saying its new DC order. Not sure from when and why this came up, but yeah yu can take a jeep from there. Per jeep minimum 6 ppl, per person cost ₹50. In total they charge ₹300 one way, if you are group of less than 6 then also same amount or if yu okay with sharing they u can let two ppl join you. Two way cost avg ₹100 for jeep, which is quiet expensive, and to be honest we can go by our car itself. At top we have small shops, and tower is very bad. They will leave u at entrance from there u have to take 300-350 steps to reach top and there is a temple. Views were so good, climate was chill carry jackets for comfort. Since we went on a weekday it was fully empty.
Swarna S — Google review
Just an amezing place. enjoy the nature beauty from highest point of the hill. you need to buy ticket via online or at the entrance. Vehicle needs to be parked near Temple and from there to mullayanagiri , you need to go with shared Jeep. Its worth exploring it.
Guru P — Google review
We visited Mullayanagiri around 11 AM, and the views were absolutely amazing — refreshing wind, scenic mountains, and a peaceful atmosphere. From the drop point, you need to climb around 500 steps to reach the peak, which is totally worth the effort. There is also a temple at the top that adds a spiritual feel to the experience, and the view from there is just stunning. However, the experience felt a bit commercialized. From Seethalayyanagiri parking, jeeps are the only option to reach the drop point, and they charge ₹200 one way. If bikes or cars were allowed instead of forcing everyone to take the jeep, the visit would be more hassle-free and less commercial. Overall, a beautiful place to visit — great for photos and nature lovers — but the transportation arrangement could be improved.

The scenery of the place is marvelous. If you go there in early morning, you will experience this yourself. We can take the safari ride in jeeps or in boats. We travelled in Jeep and it cost us like 654 per person and there are ten seats in a jeep. Go there as early as possible because it gets filled with people in a blink of an eye. Although the ride was almost 3 and a half hours long, we did not encounter that many animals. We got stopped in our way by a wild bull. We encountered a leopard and some birds too. There are a couple of small lakes here and there. There is a resting place inbetween the ride where we can fresh up and rest for a bit. The weather was good but pretty cold. Overall, the ride was fun and enjoyable. I suggest you visit it once.

Although this is luck based activity if still suggest going early morning for higher chances of spotting animals. The ride was almost for 1.30 hour. Loved it

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka, is a protected area known for its rich biodiversity and scenic beauty. It's a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers, offering a chance to spot various species of flora and fauna. The sanctuary is named after the Bhadra River, which flows through the area. The sanctuary is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including tigers, leopards, elephants, gaurs, and various species of birds and reptiles. You can explore the sanctuary through jeep safaris, offering opportunities to spot these animals in their natural habitat. The lush green forests, rolling hills, and the Bhadra River create a picturesque landscape. Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is also known for its trekking trails and opportunities for adventure activities. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from October to May, when the weather is pleasant, and the animals are easier to spot. Remember to carry essentials like water, snacks, and wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

Beautiful lush green forest. Spotted a few animals during the jeep ride

A majestic 500 year old Pleasant Shiva Temple also known as Aghoreshwara Temple nestled in the dense Malnad Region and just 6 kms from Taluk HQ, Sagar in Shivamogga Dt. has a very peaceful atmosphere and positive vibes A must visit when one passes by. NO Entry tickets NO Photography inside

Beautiful temple just 5kms from Sagara town. This temple is by default included in tourists route. The idol in garbhagriha is not the original idol. Original idol of 13ft standing Aghoreshwara was destroyed by Islamic rulers. A linga was later installed. Admire the beauty of magnificient Nandi at the entrance 👌🏻 Also notice beautiful stone art on outer walk.
Navaneeth K — Google review
Aghoreshwara Temple in Ikkeri is a stunning example of ancient South Indian architecture, blending Hoysala and Vijayanagara styles beautifully. The temple’s intricate stone carvings, grand Nandi statue, and peaceful surroundings create a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Maintained by the ASI, it remains clean and well-preserved, offering visitors a serene and authentic experience. There’s no entry fee, and the site is less crowded, making it perfect for calm exploration. Only drawback — the stone floor can get hot and DSLR photography is restricted. A must-visit heritage gem near Sagara.

There's no entry ticket to this place, finding out address is very easy on Google maps, but the best part is how beautiful is this place!? We went during monsoon and it was just too pretty to describe. A must visit if you're visiting jog Falls

The temple of agoreshwara in ikkeri an archaeological maintained structure is an awesome old temple with fine architecture . The main temple structure has siva on a very high pedestal unlike other siva temples. The nandi made of granite sits majestically across. One of the nice places to visit while in shimoga. No other facilities like toilet , drinking water are available.

Beautiful Ancient Temple With Positive Vibe. Nandi is huge and beautiful. Peaceful Location. Very powerful Shiva Temple. Strongly suggesting to visit Temple.

The temple is built with a mix of hoysala and Vijayanagara style of architecture. As you enter the gates, you first are welcomed by a giant Nandi. Then you enter the temple with the main diety, lord shiva. The temple is not crowded and has parking space at the entrance. There's no entry fee.

AGHORESHVARA TEMPLE, IKKERI Ikkeri grew into a powerful independent kingdom with capital at Keladi under the early Vijayanagara chiefs. During the reign of Chaudappa Nayaka, (A.D. 1499-1544), the capital was shifted from Keladi to Ikkeri. The north-south orientated aghoresvara temple, built in granite, during the time of the Nayaka's of Keladi, is a classic example of the nayaka style of architecture. Stylistically it is datable to sixteenth century AD. On plan it has a Garbhagriha, an Ardhamandapa and a large Mukhamandapa with a separate pavilion for Nandi. Interiorly the floor in front of the shrine has effigies of three Keladi chiefs doing obeisance. The Garbhagriha contains a gignatic pedestal sculptured with 32-seated female figures. The temple has a metal image of thirty-two handed Aghoresvara. In the Ardhamantapa is a small translucent Nandi carved out of white spar. Flanking the Ardhamantapa doorway, on either side are two niches, containing sculptures of ganesa and Kartikeya to right and Mahishamardini and Bhairava to left. The front Mukhamandapa is supported by carved pillars. Exteriorly the sanctum has a huge Sikhara in the Dravida order. The walls of the sanctum have double pilaster turrets. The walls of the Mukhamandapa are pierced with three omate doorways approached by balustraded steps. The northern main entrance is flanked by caparisoned elephants. The available space of the walls is provided with nearly twenty perforated windows with omamental arches interspersed with figure sculptures. The Nandimandapa has a huge couchantibull with a yali-balustraded steps at south. The pavilion has lion-based pillars. Towards the west is parvati shrine built on similar lines to the main temple with lesser dimensions and fewer sculptures.

Kundadri Hill, standing at 826 meters, is a picturesque destination known for its dense forests and a 17th-century Jain temple dedicated to Parshwanatha. The hill offers stunning views of sunrise, sunset, and natural beauty amidst the clouds. It's recommended to visit in the early morning when the gates open at 6:00 AM. The area has parking space but requires careful driving due to steep and narrow roads with U-turns.
Kundadri Hill is a hidden gem for nature lovers and spiritual seekers alike. Nestled in the Western Ghats, this tranquil peak offers breathtaking views of the surrounding green landscapes, rolling hills, and mist-covered valleys. The journey to the top is an adventure in itself, with winding roads leading to a view that is well worth the climb. At the summit, the ancient Jain temple adds a unique charm to Kundadri, giving the place a peaceful, spiritual vibe. Dedicated to the Jain Tirthankara Parshwanatha, the temple is surrounded by small ponds that reflect the clouds and sky, adding to the serene atmosphere. For anyone traveling in Shimoga or the Western Ghats, Kundadri is a must-visit destination for its beauty, tranquility, and the sense of connection it offers to both nature and spirituality.

Best during monsoon and less effort to reach peak which is hardly finds 20 to 30 stairs but 6-7 kms road travel is very narrow and steepy. Good place to sit and chill.
Mohan O — Google review
Do not visit during the monsoon, since you won't be able to see the breathtaking views that everyone is talking about. Once in a while the fog clears up and you can appreciate the view. The drive/ride up the hill is tortuous and difficult. Would not recommend unless you have a bike or a decently powerful scooter. Stay safe!

This place route is not so easy, road condition is totally worse! If suddenly opposite vehicle comes, it becomes difficult to manage and pass from there! Better park your vehicles near the Main road temple Arch and take a jeep ride or better enquire with nearby localites about the condition before going to tophill During our visit it was difficult due to worse road condition

This is one of the oldest Jain temples, dating back to the 17th century, located atop a hill at an elevation of over 800 meters. The site offers a mesmerizing viewpoint and is truly a must-visit destination. Please note that the approach roads include several narrow curves—drive carefully.

Beautiful sights of the valley below and rocks around. The drive up to the hills was difficult with very rough dirt roads. But worth the view.
Nikku M — Google review
It's a Jain temple with breathtaking view at the hilltop of the western ghats during the monsoon season. The road though is in very poor condition. People with good driving experience can take this route. The gate to this place closes down at 5pm so make sure you reach there on time.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Western Ghats, the Adishakthyathmaka Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple in Horanadu is a divine sanctuary that captivates visitors with its serene beauty. Located on the banks of the tranquil Bhadra River, this ornate Hindu temple is surrounded by lush greenery and majestic mountains, creating a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection and devotion.
Annapoorneswari Temple in Horanadu is a beautiful temple surrounded by forests and lots of greenery. The views around the temple are fantastic. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, and it feels very spiritual. I had a fantastic darshan and felt super happy after visiting. The whole place is clean, well-managed, and full of positive energy. It’s a wonderful place to visit for peace of mind and blessings.

The best place ever for devotees.. Goddess Annapoorneshwari is so powerful that she makes you to automatically come there, take blessings and have the Annaprasada whenever she wants to see you. Her Ashirvada is the only thing everyone would love to have and she gives it hands full if you seek her blessings from your heart. There are accommodation facilities available. You can have a hot water bath for 30rs only. Washrooms are neat and clean. To prebook the rooms you should contact the office. Waiting time for darshana is around 5 to 10 mins and the greatness of the goddess is she allows all to get her view from as near as possible. Mangalarathi takes place around 1.30 pm in the afternoon and that might be the best time according to me to have darshana in the day time. If you are staying in there then the night darshana and mangalarathi would be great as the Alankara to the goddess looks amazing and divine. From this place sringeri is 3 hours away and you can plan one day trip to both Sringeri and Horanadu. Many types of Seva are available and the Akki Seve is the one which is very famous.

Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple was one of the most peaceful and fulfilling experiences I’ve had. The moment you step inside, there’s a sense of comfort that’s hard to put into words. The darshan of Goddess Annapoorneshwari feels genuinely divine. The way the deity is adorned and the energy in the sanctum make the whole experience very calming. The temple administration is well-organized, and the place is maintained with real care. The highlight, of course, is the anna prasadam. It’s simple, pure and served with so much warmth that it truly lives up to the spirit of the temple. Sitting down for that meal feels like a blessing in itself. The surroundings are beautiful too, especially if you visit early in the morning or around sunset. The entire area has a quiet spiritual charm that makes you want to stay back for a while. If you’re anywhere near Chikkamagaluru, this temple is a must-visit. You leave with a full heart and a feeling of gratitude.

I recently visited the Hornadu Annapoorneshwari Temple, and it was a truly peaceful and divine experience. The temple is surrounded by lush green hills and the Bhadra River, giving it a very calm and refreshing atmosphere. The temple architecture is traditional and beautiful, with detailed carvings and a golden idol of Goddess Annapoorneshwari, who is believed to be the Goddess of food and nourishment. The darshan felt very special and serene. The temple management is very organized. The darshan queue moves quite smoothly, and even on weekends or special days, the wait is not too long. There’s no specific fee for regular darshan, and the temple offers free meals (Anna Prasada) to all visitors throughout the day. The prasadam is simple, tasty, and served with great devotion. It’s one of the main highlights of this temple. - Clean and well-maintained premises. - Separate area for footwear and a cloakroom for bags. - Plenty of parking space near the temple. - Shops outside selling pooja items, prasadam, flowers, and souvenirs. - Lodging and food options available nearby for those who wish to stay overnight. - Darshan timings: usually from around 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Overall, Hornadu is not just a temple visit, but a soul soothing experience filled with devotion, nature, and positive energy.

More than a Temple, It's a Blessing. A powerful darshan left us humbled by Annapoorna Devi. Pray for abundance and the ability to serve others. Gratitude and Grace at Annapoorna Devi's Temple. This visit was a profound reminder of divine provision. We prayed for the ultimate blessing: the means to be a blessing to others. Plus, with a great parking lot and a darshan under 20 minutes, it was a perfectly smooth spiritual journey.

Kodachadri is a 4,406-ft. peak located in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, offering trekking trails through dense forests, waterfalls, and breathtaking elevated views. It is known as a paradise for trekkers and provides an exciting opportunity to explore the beauty of the region. Accessible from Shimoga, this destination allows visitors to embark on challenging treks amidst cloud-covered peaks and lush green terrain.
I did the Kodachadri trek on June 22, 2025, in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka. Starting from my homestay, I covered around 14 km in total, doing only the one-way trek on foot. The return was via a jeep ride that cost ₹450 per person. The trek took about 6 hours to complete and reached an elevation of 1,343 meters. It was a moderately challenging route that pushed me both physically and mentally. One of the highlights was crossing a waterfall during the trek. The trail was incredibly scenic, surrounded by dense greenery and the peaceful sounds of nature. I went with a group of friends, and the shared effort and laughs made the experience more enjoyable, even when it got tough. Reaching the top felt amazing. The weather that day was just right for a monsoon trek—light rain and fog added a magical, calming vibe to the whole atmosphere. Standing at the summit after the climb was truly rewarding. However, the trekking group we joined, Native Trekking, was a big letdown. Their coordination was very poor—they were late at every stage, and at the trek checkpoint, we were made to stand in line for over two hours just to register. On the way back, some fellow trekkers played loud music and behaved rudely, and the organizers didn’t respond at all to complaints—possibly because they were part of the same local group. Kodachadri is undoubtedly a beautiful place, and I would definitely recommend the trek itself—but not with Native Trekking. Their lack of professionalism ruined part of the experience. I had done the Netravathi trek earlier, and compared to that, Kodachadri was a mix of breathtaking nature and poor management.

I've visited this stunning hill station twice - once in 2018 during the rainy season and again in 2019 during the summer. Both times were breathtakingly beautiful in their own ways. The trek to the top is moderately challenging, but the scenic views are simply divine. I loved the misty greens and the beauty of nature all around. It's really heaven! Plus, there's an option to reach the top by jeep too, so you can choose your adventure. Trekking is a great way to experience the natural beauty up close, with mist-covered hills and lush greenery all the way. And the moment you reach the top, it's like a divine feeling washes over you - your mind becomes calm, and you feel serene peace. The panoramic views from the summit are pure magic, with sunrises and sunsets that'll leave you speechless. Kodachadri is a must-visit destination for any nature lover or trekking enthusiast.

Kodachadri trek is an amazing experience filled with lush greenery all around. The trails are quite steep, making it a bit challenging, especially during the rainy season when the path gets slippery and fog covers the view. But the misty atmosphere makes it feel magical

Kodachadri, located in the heart of the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary in the Shimoga district of Karnataka, is more than just a mountain peak—it's an adventure, a spiritual retreat, and a paradise for nature photographers. Standing tall at 1,343 meters (4,406 ft), this peak truly lives up to its name, which translates from Sanskrit as "Jasmine of the Hills." The main allure of Kodachadri is the journey to the summit. Visitors have two primary modes of transport: the adventurous trek or the thrilling jeep safari. Once at the peak, the views are breathtaking. The sunset views here are truly magnificent, painting the sky in fiery gold and orange hues. Kodachadri is deeply linked to mythology and history, adding a layer of spiritual significance to the visit. Sarvajna Peetha is a small, ancient stone structure believed to be the spot where the great philosopher and saint Adi Shankaracharya meditated. Whether you're a nature lover, a trekking enthusiast, or a spiritual seeker, Kodachadri offers a deeply satisfying experience.

One of the best trekking route in Karnataka. Kodachadri trek in western ghats passes through the deep forest trails. Trek can be done is 2 routes one is from the Kattinahole via the Hidlumane waterfalls and second is from Valur route. The most popular, adventurous and beautiful trek route is being Hidlumane waterfalls starting from Kattinahole. Need to register online for the trekking. If you are looking for Jeep to reach the peak of Kodachadri, no online bookings required. A 12KMS trail passes through deep forest trials along with Hidlumane waterfalls. Trek is going to easy to moderate trek with slight steep trek during the mid points.

Kodachadri, with its lush forests, hidden waterfalls, and misty peaks, offers breathtaking views and fresh air far away from air and noise pollution. With no mobile networks to distract you, it’s a perfect escape for trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers. The best time to visit is during the monsoon, when the landscape comes alive in its full glory.

Kodachadri, nestled in Karnataka's Western Ghats, is a renowned destination celebrated for its lush landscapes, spiritual significance, and adventurous trekking routes. Standing at an elevation of 1,343 meters, it is the highest peak in the Shivamogga district and has been designated a natural heritage site by the Karnataka Government. 🌄 Highlights Trekking Experience: The trek to Kodachadri is both challenging and rewarding, offering routes through dense tropical forests, meadows, and waterfalls. The journey culminates at the Sarvajna Peetha, a small temple where Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have meditated, providing panoramic views of the Western Ghats. Off-Road Jeep Ride: For those less inclined to trek, a jeep ride is available, navigating through rugged terrains to a point near the peak. While the ride is thrilling, it can be quite bumpy and is not recommended for individuals with back issues. Spiritual Significance: Beyond its natural beauty, Kodachadri holds religious importance, forming a backdrop to the Mookambika Temple in Kollur. The Sarvajna Peetha at the summit is a revered site for devotees. ⚠️ Things to Consider Physical Demands: The trek can be strenuous, especially during monsoon seasons when paths become slippery. It's advisable for individuals with health concerns to assess their capabilities before attempting the trek. Limited Facilities: Accommodations at the peak are basic, with limited amenities. Travelers should be prepared for minimal facilities and carry necessary supplies. Environmental Concerns: Visitors have noted instances of littering at the summit. It's essential to maintain the sanctity and cleanliness of the environment by disposing of waste responsibly.

Spiritual Experience amongst the hills !! Plenty of small hotels around for a quick freshen up or day stay to suit budgets ! Reservations is required for bigger hotels like Mahalakshmi hotel , probably the most popular one. Plan for parking as the places around temple is no parking zone ! Darshan and various poojas tickets can be brought at the temple complex once you enter ! The darshan is divine and you can get a small blessing, which is a few add on most temples have introduced in the temple complex once! Around south canara most temples offer prasada in form of lunch and dinner which is a must try experience

Visiting Kollur Mookambika Temple is not just a journey to a sacred shrine — it’s a soul-stirring experience that stays with you long after you leave. Nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats in Karnataka, surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle hum of nature, this ancient temple dedicated to Devi Mookambika feels alive with divine energy. The moment you step into the temple complex, there’s a quiet sense of sanctity that embraces you. The golden idol of Goddess Mookambika, said to embody Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati, radiates such grace and strength that it’s impossible not to feel moved. The priests perform the rituals with deep devotion, and the chanting of mantras echoes beautifully through the temple halls. What makes Kollur so special is the powerful feminine energy that permeates the space. Whether you come seeking wisdom, strength, or peace, there’s a sense of being heard here — as though the Goddess herself listens with compassion. The temple’s location adds to its magic: misty hills, the Souparnika River flowing nearby, and the sounds of birds at dawn make the surroundings feel heavenly. If you visit early in the morning, when the lamps are still flickering and the temple bells ring softly, the experience feels almost otherworldly. Prasadam is simple yet soulful, and the temple is well-maintained despite the large number of devotees who visit each day. Pilgrims from across South India — especially from Kerala and Karnataka — come here for Vidyarambham, Aksharabhyasam, and special pujas for children and students, making it a deeply family-oriented and spiritually uplifting place.

I recently visited the Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, and it was one of the most divine and peaceful experiences of my temple journey. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Mookambika, an incarnation of Parvathi Devi, who is worshipped as the goddess of power, wisdom, and courage. Located at the foothills of the Western Ghats and surrounded by lush greenery, the temple’s atmosphere is serene and filled with spiritual energy. The architecture of the temple is traditional Kerala style mixed with Karnataka influences, with beautiful stone carvings and copper plated roofing. The main deity is made of Panchaloha (five metals), and the sanctum radiates a powerful divine presence. The darshan queue is well-managed, and even during weekends, it moves smoothly. Regular darshan is free, and special poojas or sevas can be booked at the counter for a reasonable fee. - Timings: Usually from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. - Dress code: Traditional attire is compulsory, men should wear dhoti or pants, and women should wear sarees or salwar suits. - The temple serves Anna Prasada to devotees daily, which is simple and delicious. - Ample parking space nearby. - Several shops around the temple sell pooja items, prasadam, and souvenirs. - Lodging and food options are easily available near the temple premises. Overall, the Kollur Mookambika Temple offers a deeply spiritual and peaceful atmosphere, making it a must-visit for devotees seeking blessings and inner tranquility.

This is a highly potent Shakti Peetha where the Goddess Mookambika, the embodiment of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati, blesses devotees. The setting is beautifully serene and spiritual, situated on the banks of the sacred Souparnika River and backed by the lush Kodachadri Hills. The main deity, a Swayambhu Lingam with a unique golden line, represents the harmonious union of Shiva and Shakti—a powerful sight. The temple, consecrated by Adi Shankaracharya, is a key center for knowledge (Vidya) and is exceptionally well-maintained and organized. An unforgettable spiritual journey that offers immense peace and attracts devotees from all over South India seeking divine knowledge and blessings.

From the moment I stepped into the temple premises, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and reverence. 🌺 Divine Experience at Sri Mookambika Temple 🌺 My visit to the sacred Mookambika Temple was truly a soul-touching experience. The divine presence of Devi Mookambika can be deeply felt the moment you enter the temple premises. The peaceful atmosphere, the powerful vibrations of the chants, and the spiritual energy around the sanctum bring immense calmness and devotion to the heart. The temple is beautifully maintained, and the priests perform the rituals with great devotion. The surroundings — the lush greenery, the sound of the Souparnika River, and the gentle bells — make it a perfect place for prayer and reflection. I felt truly blessed to receive Devi’s darshan. A visit here is not just a journey of faith, but also a reminder of divine grace and protection. 🌸🙏 Highly recommended for all devotees seeking peace, blessings, and spiritual awakening.

A very spiritual and calming place nestled in nature. The darshan of Goddess Mookambika is truly divine and gives a sense of peace. The temple is neat and well organized, and the priests conduct the poojas beautifully. The road to Kollur is scenic, making the journey enjoyable. However, it can get very crowded during weekends and festivals, so patience is needed. The Souparnika River nearby adds charm, but cleanliness could be improved.

Beautiful and unique beach where the sea runs parallel to the highway. The view is stunning on both sides — Arabian Sea on one and Souparnika River on the other. Very peaceful and clean place, perfect for a sunset stop during a coastal drive.

Maravanthe Beach is highly praised for its stunning natural beauty, featuring a unique geography where the Arabian Sea is on one side of the highway and the Souparnika River on the other. The sea near Maravanthe Beach has a steep gradient, there are no lifeguards, and it can be dangerous to swim, particularly during the monsoon season when tides are strong. Many advise avoiding deep sea bathing here. The beach is less crowded, making it a peaceful spot, and the roadside stalls offering snacks like crispy gobi manchurian add to the experience.

This beach is uniquely picturesque—the National Highway runs right between the serene Arabian Sea and the parallel Souparnika River. It boasts a long stretch of pristine white sand and clear blue water, earning it the nickname "Virgin Beach" for its untouched beauty. The spectacular sight of the sea and river running side-by-side is considered the only one of its kind in India and is a photographer's delight. The area offers a wonderful mix of tranquil relaxation and the option for exciting water sports in a less crowded, peaceful environment. Watching the sun set over the Arabian Sea from this vantage point, with the river glowing behind you, is an unforgettable and deeply calming experience.

Maravanthe Beach is a unique coastal gem, a destination where the road, the sea, and the river meet—and every frame feels like a story waiting to be told. The golden sands, calm waves, and endless horizon make it a place where every moment feels cinematic. As the sun sets, the whole coastline glows in warm amber tones, blending the beauty of nature with the quiet rhythm of coastal life.

One of must visit beach Near Gokarna. One side high way road, another side beach with stunning views. It gives you best and memorable experience. I recommend to go there with your own vehicle or rent any car or bike. Because public transport is not much frequent in this route. Sun rise and sun set looks so asome from this beach.
