I've visited large supermarkets, currency exchange, night markets, many fast food restaurants, massage shops, and electronic stores, but the prices are expensive, but there are cheap places. I recommend shopping at the large open market 5 to 10 minutes away from here. Carbon Macket

Magellan's Cross

Mentioned on
+85 other lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Magellan's Cross, located in the heart of Cebu City, is a significant historical site marking the introduction of Christianity to the Philippines by Spanish explorers in 1521. The cross, encased in tindalo wood to prevent theft due to beliefs in its supernatural powers, is enshrined just outside the Basilica del Santo Nino. This iconic symbol represents the beginning of European conquest that shaped the country's history.
A key cultural and historical landmark in downtown Cebu is the Magellan's Cross. It is a historical and religious landmark located in Plaza Sugbo, Cebu City, Philippines, situated beside the Basilica del Santo Niño. It is housed within an octagonal stone kiosk, known as the Magellan's Cross Pavilion, constructed in 1834 during Spanish colonial rule using coral stone. The cross itself is believed to be the one planted by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan upon his arrival in Cebu on March 15, 1521, marking the beginning of Christianity in the Philippines. I remember when we were children we only read about it in books and we're taught about it in school. Now, we have the privilege to see it personally. Thank and Praises to God. We've been here last September 18, 2025 for a Land Tour.
Gorj S — Google review
"Magellan’s Cross – Cebu’s Historical Treasure" Magellan’s Cross in Cebu is truly a remarkable landmark that holds both historical and cultural significance. Located right in the heart of the city, this iconic site marks the very place where Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan planted the cross upon his arrival in 1521, symbolizing the introduction of Christianity to the Philippines. What makes the experience even more fascinating is that the original cross, centuries old, is still preserved today—safeguarded within a tindalo wood casing to protect it from damage. The small but beautifully painted chapel that houses the cross adds to its solemn and sacred atmosphere. Visiting Magellan’s Cross is like stepping back in time, allowing you to appreciate Cebu’s rich history and its pivotal role in shaping the nation’s faith and culture. It’s not just a tourist attraction but a meaningful reminder of the Philippines’ deep spiritual roots. Truly, a must-see when in Cebu!
Dr S — Google review
Visiting Magellan’s Cross for the first time felt really special — like finally seeing a piece of history I’d only read about in textbooks come to life. Standing there beneath the iconic wooden cross inside the small chapel, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of awe and nostalgia. My childhood self, who used to memorize stories about Magellan and the first Christian baptism in the Philippines, was honestly so happy. The site may be small, but it carries such huge historical weight. The ceiling mural depicting the baptism of Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana adds to the experience — it’s simple yet powerful. I also love how the area is well maintained, with locals selling candles and sharing bits of history with visitors. It’s a short stop, but a meaningful one. Being there made me appreciate how much of our country’s story started right here in Cebu. Definitely worth visiting — not just for the history, but for that sense of connection to our roots.
Eugine P — Google review
That’s was one of the reason I stopped by in Cebu. The small chapel protects the wooden cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers in 1521, marking the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. Whether you’re a history lover or just exploring Cebu City, this spot is a must-see. Great experience.
Dmitry.ʎɹʇᴉɯp — Google review
Looking at the Magellan cross not only represents the faith of my dear religion Christianity, but also shows the beginning of colonialism by the Spaniards in 1521 using religion. During my visit to Cebu the Magellan cross symbolizes the beginning of Christianity of the Philippines in which our religion is still practiced today, but Spaniards use it for their own advantage for the Filipinos also. But today Christianity is not like that anymore and it's by pure faith and belief This cross represents both of these aspects and I was admired of the cross seeing it with my own eyes A much rather learning experience to me and my faith.
Kyle_58 — Google review
Interesting place. Visited on a Sunday and you could hear the mass in the adjacent place of worship. On this occasion it was closed the access to it so the photos are through a grated fence. Lots of children and touts trying to ask for money, but it is part of the culture and the charm of it all.
Mircea R — Google review
Great piece of history. Some negatives though are that it's in a place that's not really highlighted by is historical significance, the bar types that secure the cross is intrusive when taking pictures or viewing, and sellers hang around there negating the experience a little bit. Some alternatives would be to place less ornated bars, a security or police officer; especially since it's outside public office, and/or better explanation board to those that don't really know the importance of the object.
Tremain T — Google review
Well kept area. A lot of street vendors who are very appreciative of any busy you can give them. Fun trinkets and candles around. If you plan to visit the church just remember there is a dress code. No shorts, tight clothes, open shoes/sandals, caps, or graphic shirts

Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu

Mentioned on

Basilica
Museums
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Cebu, the Minor Basilica of the Holy Child of Cebu is a treasure trove of history and spirituality. Dating back to 1565, it proudly holds the title of being the oldest Roman Catholic church in the Philippines. This magnificent structure has withstood numerous trials, including devastating fires and earthquakes, leading to its reconstruction in baroque style during the 1700s.
A Gentle Pause at Basilica de Santo Niño, Cebu After our appointment at PSA Colon, we took a short walk to the Basilica de Santo Niño. It was my husband and kids’ first time there—a quiet milestone in our family’s journey. We didn’t stay long, just lit a candle and offered a silent prayer. But even in that brief moment, the place wrapped us in peace. A sacred stop, simple and grounding.
Ernelyn O — Google review
Visiting the Minor Basilica of the Holy Child in Cebu was a heartwarming experience for me. The moment I stepped inside, I felt a quiet sense of peace. Seeing the image of the Santo Niño up close filled me with awe—it’s amazing to think how many people have prayed here for hundreds of years. I spent a few moments in silence, just praying and thanking God for everything. It felt comforting, like I was being embraced by His presence. Watching other people light candles and whisper their prayers also reminded me how faith connects us all, no matter where we come from. That short visit left me feeling lighter and more grateful. It was a gentle reminder to trust more, pray more, and appreciate the blessings I often take for granted. Simple, but very meaningful.

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu is one of the most beautiful and spiritually moving places I’ve ever visited. Stepping inside feels like entering a sacred part of Philippine history — it’s humbling to think this is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, built where the image of the Santo Niño was found in 1565. The atmosphere is peaceful yet powerful. You can really feel the devotion of the people — from the long lines of devotees lighting candles to those praying quietly inside the basilica. I also love how the blend of old and new architecture tells the story of faith that has endured for centuries. The open courtyard, the sound of prayers, and the smell of candles all add to that sense of reverence. It was an emotional experience for me. Seeing the Santo Niño up close reminded me of my childhood prayers and how faith can stay constant through time. Whether you’re religious or not, visiting the Basilica gives you a deep appreciation for Cebu’s culture, history, and unshakable faith.

Great great great. It is landmark in Cebu — peaceful, historic, and architecturally stunning. A wonderful stop for anyone exploring the heart of the city. The basilica complex is large and well-organized: the main church, the open-air mass area, the candle chapel, and the museum all give you a deeper sense of Cebu’s religious heritage. Even if you’re not very religious, it’s a fascinating place to experience culture, tradition, and history all at once.

Sto. Niño De Cebu is one of the best tourist spot here in cebu city. But more importantly, you need to respect the culture of cebu because its one of sacred church not a public tourist spot. Additionally, when a priest is talking please refrain yourself taking a pictures. To show a respect is not a demand but to show what kind of person you are in a strange place.
Tibas B — Google review
During my recent visit to the Basilica del Santo Niño with a friend, we experienced a deeply troubling incident. A stray black dog — which I had earlier seen being mistreated by a guard — bit my friend inside the church. There were multiple witnesses, including three guards and a nun. I had to step in to get the dog to release her, and my friend was bleeding significantly. What was most upsetting was not just the attack itself, but the response. No one offered assistance. No first aid kit was brought, no one inquired about her condition, and no staff member took initiative to help or even show concern. As a sacred and historic site, I would expect far greater care and professionalism from those responsible for visitor safety. The lack of empathy and preparedness we witnessed was alarming and disappointing. I sincerely hope the Basilica leadership takes this as a wake-up call to review their safety measures, provide proper training to staff, stock each guard and guard station with a first aid kit, and ensure compassion is shown to anyone in distress. Visitors deserve to feel safe and cared for in such a revered place.

Fort San Pedro

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Fort San Pedro, a historic Spanish fortress dating back to 1738, is now home to a charming garden and museum. This impressive military bastion was meticulously constructed by Spanish conquistadors and stands as a testament to Cebu's grand past. As the oldest and smallest fort in the Philippines, it offers visitors a captivating journey through time, providing insight into the country's colonial heritage.
If you're a lover of history or simply looking for a peaceful yet captivating place to visit in Cebu City, Fort San Pedro is a must-see. As the oldest and smallest fort in the Philippines, it holds a powerful presence that echoes the rich Spanish colonial past of the country. Originally built as a military defense structure during the Spanish era, Fort San Pedro once served as a barracks for Spanish soldiers. Today, it stands proudly, retaining much of its original structure—thick coral stone walls, a commanding gate, and bastions that whisper stories of centuries gone by. Wandering through its well-preserved grounds feels like stepping back in time. The small museum inside offers artifacts, documents, and photos that give deeper insight into Cebu's vibrant past. It's not just a tourist spot—it’s a living piece of history. What’s even more fascinating is how the fort has been beautifully adapted for modern use. By night, the fort transforms into an enchanting venue often used for wedding receptions and special events. The blend of old-world charm and romantic lighting makes it an unforgettable setting—elegant, atmospheric, and deeply meaningful. Whether you're a history buff, a photographer, or someone looking for a quiet escape in the city, Fort San Pedro is a place where the past and present come together in a uniquely beautiful way.

Fort San Pedro in Cebu is a laid-back historic spot that’s worth a visit if you’re into old forts and chill walks. It’s not huge, but it’s full of charm, stone walls, leafy courtyards, and a nice peek into the city’s Spanish past. The vibe is relaxed, with lots of corners to explore and spots to just sit and take it all in. It’s right near the waterfront too, so it’s an easy stop while strolling around the area.
Dr. R — Google review
Great place. Great experience. I really enjoyed my visit. it’s one of those places where history, architecture, and peaceful atmosphere come together perfectly. Built during the early Spanish period, the fort is the oldest triangular bastion fort in the Philippines, and you can truly feel the heritage in every stone wall and corridor.
Dmitry.ʎɹʇᴉɯp — Google review
We came here for a quick tour to check it out. The entry is 30 pesos per person without a guide. I highly recommend you hire a guide. They get paid in tips so you can give what you feel is fair. The guide really made the journey worth it. Otherwise, we wouldn't have understood the history and whatnot as there aren't many infomative signs inside. All in all, it was a lovely 15-20 mins tour. If you have some time to spare, it's worth going through it. We did enjoy the walk and information. Our tour guide was very sweet and took nice pictures of us.

The Fort San Pedro in Cebu is a remarkable piece of Philippine history and one of the oldest surviving Spanish structures in the country. Built in 1565 under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, it originally served as a military defense fort during the early years of Spanish colonization. Made from coral stones and hardwood, the fort has a distinctive triangular shape, with two sides facing the sea and one side facing inland to protect the early Spanish settlement from pirates and invaders. Over the centuries, Fort San Pedro has taken on many roles — from a stronghold of the Spanish military to an American barracks, a Japanese prison camp during World War II, and later a school and zoo after the war. Today, it stands as a historical park and museum, preserving artifacts, documents, and relics that tell Cebu’s long colonial and cultural story. Walking through the fort’s stone walls and courtyards feels like stepping back in time. The structure is well preserved, surrounded by gardens and overlooking the port area, offering a peaceful yet nostalgic atmosphere. It’s not just a tourist attraction but a symbol of Cebu’s resilience and rich heritage — a must-visit for anyone who wants to connect with the island’s fascinating past.

The no BS review. Fort San Pedro is a nice small piece of history in the heart of Cebu. The place was clean and had a lot of cute and clean cats just roaming around. Good place for taking pictures especially in the afternoon. I think the place lacks a bit of storytelling. There are historical pieces but not much else.
Carl C — Google review
This is a historical place which tourists and even locals could visit at least once. You can tour the place for more or less 30-45 minutes. I recommend you to wear comfortable attire as the place is not airconditioned. There is a gallery and souvenir shop as well. Entrance fee is affordable!

Cebu Taoist Temple

Cebu Taoist Temple, situated in the Beverly Hills area, is a captivating complex constructed by the Chinese community. The temple features vibrant pagodas adorned with striking dragon designs and other intricate figures. Perched at an altitude of 300 meters, it offers panoramic views of the city, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. Visitors are advised to arrange return transportation in advance due to limited taxi availability in the area after 5 pm when the temple closes.
Located in the Beverly hills of Cebu, is a Taoist Temple with fascinating views and awe dropping buildings. Created in the past for rich Chinese settlers in Cebu to create an exclusive neighborhood with a temple to practice their culture. This temple has dragon sculptures, unique Chinese shaped buildings and telescopes to look closely into the city. But when you enter inside the temple don't picture the inside as it is disrespectful. And make sure to don't act loud and arrogant instead be respectful. This used to be a great place to view the city, before the TOPS was built but still a great place during the wet season so that you won't get blown away.
Kyle_58 — Google review
After seeing several posts online—especially the images of the striking green dragon winding across the hillside—I knew this temple was going on my Cebu itinerary. The Cebu Taoist Temple was a vibrant and fascinating visit with plenty to take in across the grounds. The temple is perched in the elevated Beverly Hills area and offers incredible panoramic views over Cebu City. There’s a fair bit of walking involved, with staircases and paths weaving through pagodas, pavilions, and beautifully manicured gardens. One of the highlights for me was the dragon sculpture near the upper level—vivid, dynamic, and a popular photo spot for a reason. Inside some temple areas, photography is prohibited, and this is strictly enforced, which I respected. Signs are clearly posted, and temple caretakers are present to maintain the serenity of the place. That said, the architecture, rooflines, and painted details throughout the exteriors are more than enough to fill your camera roll. This isn’t a fast-paced stop; it’s more reflective and peaceful. I’d recommend including it as part of a wider city sightseeing day. Entry is free, and the views alone make it worth the effort. Bring water, wear decent walking shoes, and prepare for a splash of color and culture. The Cebu Taoist Temple is one of the city’s most iconic cultural and spiritual landmarks. Built in 1972 by Cebu’s Chinese community, the temple sits atop the Beverly Hills subdivision in Lahug, offering a peaceful retreat with a panoramic view of Cebu City. Unlike most temples that are exclusive to worshippers, the Taoist Temple is open to everyone, welcoming both devotees and tourists who want to learn more about Chinese traditions and Taoist philosophy. The temple’s architecture is inspired by traditional Chinese pagodas, complete with dragon statues, intricate carvings, and bright red and green accents that make it stand out amid the lush hillside. Visitors can climb the 81 steps leading to the main temple—representing the 81 chapters of the Taoist scriptures—and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere at the top. Inside, devotees come to pray and light incense sticks, while others simply admire the detailed artwork and peaceful surroundings. Aside from its religious significance, the Taoist Temple also offers a breathtaking view of the city and the sea, making it a perfect spot for quiet reflection or sightseeing. It’s a reminder of Cebu’s rich cultural diversity and how faith, heritage, and community come together in harmony. Whether you’re visiting for spiritual reasons or just to appreciate the beauty of the place, the Taoist Temple is definitely worth a stop when you’re in Cebu.
Eugine P — Google review
I visited the Taoist Temple in Cebu and was pleasantly surprised by how much it offered in a short visit. Situated high in the Beverly Hills subdivision, the temple’s vibrant architecture - especially the winding dragon sculpture and colourful pagodas - immediately caught my eye. The view of Cebu City sprawling below added a striking backdrop. What I particularly liked was how the place felt calm and reflective, despite being a tourist spot. Entry is free, and wandering the terraces and stairs among the gardens was a relaxing change from the busy urban centre. On the flip side, preparing for the uphill walk and stairs is wise - I found myself glad I had comfortable shoes. Also, some parts of the interior are quiet worship areas where photography is not allowed, so it’s good to be mindful and respectful. I found that the staff were firm about those rules, and a little less engaged when I asked questions, which slightly dampened the experience. All in all, this temple is a strong “must-see” if you’re in Cebu and want something off the beaten track: visually beautiful, culturally rich, and peaceful. I’d recommend allocating about 45 minutes to an hour, and perhaps combining it with other sights nearby. Definitely worth it.

The Taoist Temple in Cebu is a cool, peaceful spot tucked up in the hills. Loved the colorful details, dragon statues, and calm vibe all around. Climbing up the steps felt like a mini adventure, and the view from the top is pretty awesome too. It’s quiet, not too crowded, and a great place to slow down for a bit. If you're into chill places with a bit of culture, it’s totally worth the stop.

Had a really nice visit to the Taoist Temple! Super quiet and peaceful, it had such a calming vibe. I honestly wanted to stay longer and take the time to pray, but dahil sa time constraints, di ko na nagawa. Sayang, but it’s definitely a place I’ll be visiting again next time. Perfect if you’re looking for a moment of peace away from the usual hustle. Highly recommend it for a quick retreat! 🙏🏼✨

November 2025 - my 4th visit and it never stops to amaze me... good thing they keep a good maintenance of this solemn place and best of all no admission fee. When visiting Cebu, this must be in the list. Whisper a prayer or wish in the temples or throw coins in the lucky pond or simply enjoy the high land and hills breeze and the panoramic view of the city.

Beautiful Architecture. It was difficult for me to learn anything about the temple or the belief system. I tried to ask someone about the Saint in their shrine and he had me sit down in front of his desk which had plexiglass. So there was a barrier between us and I could barely hear him. When I asked about the Saint he told me the name but didn’t elaborate any further, and just stared at me. I felt too awkward to ask other questions (that’s on me) so I thanked him and left. Later I went upstairs to another Shrine where there was another employee nearby. This employee was on his phone and when I said to him “excuse me I have a question…” he just looked at me disgustingly and waived his hand to shoo me away. I’ve never experienced that kind of rudeness in the Philippines. I was hoping that the gift shop might have some material or pamphlets but there was only figurines. Beautiful and quiet place but really strange vibe from the employees.

This place has always been fantastic. During the weekdays, it’s usually less crowded compared to the weekends, making it more enjoyable. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained, which is a plus. I appreciate that the management has installed bidets for people to use. They’re very popular among Filipinos, and using one makes the experience much more comfortable.

Opening 10 am. Lot's of different stores available. Friendly security. Good transportation choices available. More than enough coffee and food choices too

Ayala Center Cebu is my go-to destination for shopping, dining, and leisure in the heart of Cebu City. The mall’s modern design, combined with lush tropical gardens, creates a relaxing and inviting atmosphere that makes every visit enjoyable. When it comes to shopping, I love the variety of stores here—everything from high-end international brands to unique local boutiques. Whether I need fashion, electronics, or specialty items, I can always find what I’m looking for. The dining options are just as impressive, with countless restaurants and cafés offering both local and international flavors. My favorite spot is the central terrace area, where I can enjoy a great meal in a beautiful open-air setting. I also appreciate how clean and well-maintained the mall is. The open spaces and gardens make it a pleasant place to stroll and unwind, even on busy days. Security is a priority here, with thorough bag checks and safety measures that give me peace of mind while I shop and dine. Getting to the mall is easy since it's located in Cebu Business Park, but I’ve noticed that traffic can be quite heavy during peak hours. I always try to plan my visits accordingly to avoid the rush. Overall, Ayala Center Cebu is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to shop, dine, or simply relax. Every trip here feels like a complete experience, and I always leave feeling satisfied and refreshed.

Ayala still remains as one of the luxurious malls in the City of Cebu, with a location in the Business Area of Cebu, near the Center of Cebu in Fuente is a very luxurious mall. Not only does it have the luxury brands and restaurants, it also has a terraces, and a outdoor area on the top floor designed for social gathering and activities. It is also near BPO and Office Buildings, and Condominiums. Considering its in the middle of the economic center. But all in all it's a great luxurious mall designed to shop and enjoy. Even though there are areas with ongoing renovation, it remains one of the high quality malls in the City of Cebu.

Tops Lookout, situated along Cebu Transcentral Highway, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. For a nominal fee, visitors can enjoy this scenic spot until midnight, making it an ideal location for a quiet evening with friends or a romantic date. The lookout provides cold mountain air and various casual dining options, creating a perfect setting for picnics and relaxation. It is recommended to visit around 5:00 PM to witness the stunning sunset and the city lights coming to life.
If you're in Cebu and looking for the perfect spot to unwind while taking in a spectacular view, TOPS Lookout is absolutely worth the trip. Perched high above the city in the hills of Busay, TOPS offers a panoramic view that's especially magical at night. As the sun sets and the city lights start to twinkle below, the entire scene transforms into something truly breathtaking. You can see the glowing cityscape stretch all the way out to the sea, with the stars above and the sparkling lights below creating an unforgettable atmosphere. It’s peaceful, romantic, and perfect for photos—whether you're with friends, a special someone, or just enjoying some quiet time alone. There are food stalls and small cafés nearby, so you can grab a snack or drink while soaking in the view. Whether you're a local or a tourist, TOPS Cebu is one of those places that reminds you how beautiful the city really is. Just don’t forget to bring a jacket—it can get a bit chilly at night. Highly recommended for night-time visits!

Nice spot. Very beautifully created, the stairs, the flooring - it's all gorgeous and fits the ambiance. The view is super nice. But there is not much to do here but eat. I strongly recommend making this part of a larger day where you visit some of the other Great sites up this mountain like Sirao and Little Kyoto. That way you make better use of the long drive up here. Half hour looking at views, then get food, then go to the other sites!

Perfect spot for complete views of the city. Come in the evening to see the city lights in full effect. Place offers 360° views of the surrounding area (although is an additional cost to to the top floor for the full 360° view) There also lots of cafe's and restaurant to grab food or drinks. Can get to TOPS by taxi or bus. There is a bus route that leaves from IT park Cost is 200 peso's *in cash

Our family visit to Tops Cebu was a lovely escape into the hills. We arrived around 6 PM, riding their shuttle bus—fare was ₱200 per person, which already included the entrance fee. The ride was smooth and scenic, setting the tone for a peaceful evening. Though we missed the sunset and mountain views, the city lights more than made up for it. As night fell, Cebu sparkled below us like a sea of stars. For an extra ₱50 each, we stepped onto Sky360, where the view felt even more magical—quiet, vast, and full of wonder. It was a simple yet memorable moment for our family. If you're looking for a serene night spot with a panoramic cityscape, Tops Cebu is worth the visit.

Great views, many food places. Cozy specially at night. Nice to visit during the day if the sun's not out or weather is not too hot, more people come during the mid-afternoon and early evenings. Restaurants and bars open just before lunch. You may get dizzy coming here if you don't like winding roads but its worth it.
Joel J — Google review
Skip the traffic and rush hour! better be early like catching the sunset. Excellent , breath taking views like literally, city lights turned out to be stars on a night sky ;) Plenty of food to choose from, at a reasonable price. If you don't have a car, get the shuttle @ IT Park Cebu - Tops vice versa.
DreamHunter 8 — Google review
It is ok. Overpriced restaurants, you get stamped like you are going to a night club (it took 2 days to get rid of the ink lol.) Great views but nothing much otherwise. Oh and if you want to get to the top of it, you need to pay additional.
Mircea R — Google review
This place is relatively new. Pretty nice. It is a series of shops that surround a plaza overlooking Cebu City. Entry is PHP 100 per head. Parking is another PHP 50. I don't get why they still charge an extra PHP 50 to go to the rooftop viewing deck. Why not include that at the entry?

Lapulapu Monument

Sights & Landmarks
The Lapu-Lapu Monument in Cebu, Philippines, is a 20-meter bronze statue honoring the native warrior Lapu-Lapu, who famously defeated Magellan and his men in 1521. This historical landmark holds great cultural significance and serves as a poignant reminder of Filipino heritage. Surrounded by the beautiful Mactan Shrine, it stands as a symbol of the nation's proud history.
The statue of Lapu Lapu is a 20 meter high bronze sculpture of the Philippines first national hero. It is part of the Mactan Shrine, a park that commemorates the Battle of Mactan. Lapu-Lapu's statue looks realistic, his detailed torso, arms, and legs are dirtied from battle, and his indigenous loin cloth seems to flap in the wind as he looks out to the sea.

I would imagine that locals would flock here over the weekend or school holidays to take a dip into the clear waters! There is also some boats/kayaks (?) There are also cute little huts in the middle of water. A definite good time by the waters in a historic location. Its true that a tourist will have nothing much to do here but to learn of the significance of Lapulapu. If it's not on your way, you might want to give this a miss, especially if there are elders in your group. I guess this place is best visited with a local Filipino friend on a weekend/holiday escape ✌️

Easy to locate but the entrace is a bit tricky, we walked far from where we parked. Sun's extremely hot! It will be nice to have a board that says 'this way to where'. Place is huge, there's also a guide who knows the story (unlike Magellan's Cross). A small souvenir shop inside (but a but pricey tho) Hustlers cannot be avoided also, specially if you want a great picture w your family.

Would be nice for more back story and translations to English and Korean What a treat it was! You must go visit this historic site even though it’s pretty empty There’s alot of Kuya’s helping find parking, one even so kindly followed me around with umbrella So bring tips! Philippines was founded here so you gotta see a place’s origin when you can! Especially with the on going conversations about colonialism good to know how a nation comes to be.. Didn’t seem to involve any ticketing to see the monument

My favorite sandbar in Sagay City and the best conservation narrative I have heard. Lifted from my article at my website: Ex-poachers and ex-dynamite fisherfolks now protect the 32,000-hectare protected seascape for 5 decades and about 200 hectares of that is a marine sanctuary known to be Sagay's poster destination: the famous Carbin Reef. The protected marine seascape features its ever changing sandbar surrounded by clear waters dotted with a teeming marine ecosystem.

The water is clear, clean, cold, and calming. The boat ride going to the island is so worth it if you wanted a dose of vitamin sea. The place is not crowded even in the peak of summer vacation because they make sure that the number of tourists visiting the island is just enough.
May L — Google review
The island is clean since they are practicing “garbage in, garbage out”. Maximum number of guests in the island is 70. They accept early bookings. No store or restaurant in the island so better to bring your own food/drinks. Prepare fee for each guest, for boat rental and for cottage.
Dzeidee — Google review
It's a nice place if you like blue ocean water, but don't expect nice sandy beaches here. The 'beach' is not made of sand, but of razor sharp coral particles and after just a few hours it becomes unbearable to your feet. There are about 5 simple 'gazebo' like places where you can sit and aside from swimming and going to the tower there is nothing else to do here, nor can you buy anything and also no toilet. The waters are fair, blue yes, but also teaming with little crabs and random little trash. See photo's. Most of the trash floats ashore Sagay beach though.

St. Peter the Apostle Parish - Bantayan

Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Nestled in Bantayan City, Central Visayas, St. Peter the Apostle Parish is a stunning testament to history and architecture that dates back to the Spanish era. Originally constructed in the 1600s, this remarkable church has stood for over 180 years and was once a crucial stop for Spanish priests arriving in the Philippines since 1580. The structure showcases exquisite coral stone craftsmanship adorned with intricate carvings, antique pews, and an impressive altar that transports visitors back in time.
Beautiful ceilings. Redone in 2019, this church dates back 500 years ago. Very beautiful
Noah W — Google review
Visited January 8th 2025 with 6 Family members. A wedding had just finalised and we entered the old church. Inside the religious murals on the ceiling are magnificent and quite spectacular. Taking photos or video recording the murals just doesn't capture the beauty and colours and artistry involved when you view this in person. I'm not even Catholic but Church of England, yet was inspired enough to donate money to the restoration of this church. I only gave this church 4 stars because, apart from the ceiling, the church needs more restoration to fix it up. Which is a crying shame as the Philippines government could provide more as from my point of view as a tourist this church is worth seeing and worth saving. More tourists = more money = more Filipino jobs.

amazing church ! the paintings were so well made. please visit and light a candle :)

Beautiful open air church! This church is packed full of history and beauty. It is currently getting a face lift by several dedicated Filipino artists that are balancing sky high on bamboo to meticulously hand paint every detail onto the ceiling of this church. I highly recommend coming to check out this piece of history, but don't forget your hand fan because it is very toasty inside!

Vincent O — Google review
Street parking available if you have cars. There were traffic constables around so just ask.
Sarah J — Google review
Originally built in the 1600's, the current church is about 181 years old by local fisherman that caused a shortage of fish and prompted the pope to exempt the island from no meat Friday rule, which stands till today. A visit to this church is like traveling in a time machine. I am amazed at how the church is preserved, from it's coral stone construction with carvings, to the old antique pews and the grand altar. I wonder what it was like for people coming in the 1800s. The most spectacular sight is the ceiling mural painted on the plain ceiling in 2018 thru 2019, and depicts the creation, fall of man, and redemption, by a group of talented artists. A must see.

Sandira Beach

Nestled on the serene shores of Bantayan Island, Sandira Beach is a tranquil retreat that promises an escape into nature's embrace. This hidden gem, often called Paradise Beach by locals, boasts fine white sand and crystal-clear waters that are perfect for snorkeling. As you stroll along the picturesque pathway leading to this secluded spot, you'll be captivated by its unspoiled beauty and calming ambiance.
Sandira Beach is a great destination for those seeking a peaceful and quiet seaside experience. It’s ideal for private visits or small group swimming outings, offering a calm and relaxing atmosphere away from the crowds. The entrance fee is reasonably priced at ₱70 for adults and ₱30 for children. The beach is open during the day and closes at 5:30 PM, so it's best to plan your visit accordingly. While the beach itself is serene, it’s not the best spot for watching the sunset. The view is partially obstructed by rock formations along the shore, which block the full beauty of the setting sun. If you’re specifically looking for a picturesque sunset experience, you may want to consider another location. However, for a quiet day by the sea, Sandira Beach is a solid choice.

Its one of the nice beaches in the islands . Tough not much facilities exist and relatively small, it’s quite clean and nice place to swim and get rest. Better to bring your own food and drink tough a small kiosk exist but it was closed when I arrived around 16:30 .

Paradise Beach...come on guys, came today, place looks like forbiden. Dirty, locals are sittings, do nothing, beach is totally devastated, Everywhere is plastik, bottles, one big trash, no one cares...of course they do charge 70 peso to see trash...dont be naive to belive that picture are current online, check mine and decide

30th June 2025, don't go there, dirty beach full of algae and jellyfish. According to the locals it will remain like that until at least October. Spare yourself the time and stick to Kota Beach.
Marcel — Google review
I’d rate Sandira Beach 10/10. You won’t worry if you decide to swim with your barefoot as the sea is as clear as a still water. You can literally see the tiny fishes underneath. It’s def a beach that I’d always come back to. 🫶🏻
Jessa A — Google review
I'd give this 3 stars, when we visited the actual site the place was full of trash and dead seaweeds and leaves. There were no crowds so we were able to spend our time at the beach. When entering the actual Paradise Beach the roads were not develop considering we had to pay 70 pesos for the entrance fee. I mean, we all get it but at the very least they could have started a project to focus on the roadwork. It still a great experience though 😊

When we visited this place, it was at noon and high tide. The umbrellas are not properly installed. I love the view but I felt bad for dogs, there are no lots of visitors here. They are malnourished and definitely need some water and food. I suggest to bring extra food and water here for the dogs.

Bantayan Island Airport

Bantayan Airport is accessible from Cebu's Mactan International Airport via a direct bus to Santa Fe, including a RoRo onboard. Alternatively, travelers can take a bus to Hagnaya Port and then board the RoRo there. Skydive Greater Cebu offers licensed and certified skydiving experiences with a focus on safety. The airport also accommodates well-maintained aircraft for sightseeing flights over Bantayan and Virgin Island, providing an incredible experience for visitors.
-bantayan to mactan airport only took around 25 mins vs 5-6 hours by land + boat is very efficient. -bantayan airport has very friendly crews. clean space. lacking ac room but not really a big deal since the holding area is al fresco
Michael R — Google review
Bantayan Airport is likely the smallest airport I’ve ever been to, with a compact and minimalistic setup. Here’s a breakdown of the experience: Facilities • The security and check-in area is tiny, about 10 sqm in size, but it is air-conditioned for comfort. • After security and check-in, passengers must pay a ₱50 terminal fee at the airport. • There’s an open-air waiting area after the terminal fee counter, but it lacks any shops or amenities. It’s best to buy snacks outside or bring your own, as the options available are extremely limited. Baggage and Weight Restrictions • Only hand-carried luggage under 7 kg is recommended for this short flight. • All passengers’ weight is taken, presumably for weight distribution on the aircraft. Flight Experience • The flight to Cebu takes only 30 minutes. • The aircraft during my flight didn’t have a functioning air conditioning system, which is reportedly a recurring issue. Seasonal Schedule • Flights are seasonal and only available on Fridays and Sundays. • The majority of passengers are tourists heading to or from Cebu. Arrival at Cebu • The flight lands at MCIAA General Aviation Building instead of the main domestic terminal. • A bus, provided by the airline, transports passengers for ₱50 to Island Central Mactan, which is a much better option than trying to find public transportation at MCIAA. Tips • Bring your own snacks as amenities at the airport are minimal. • Prepare for a no-frills flight, with no guarantee of air conditioning. • Plan your onward journey from the general aviation building ahead of time (have not tried booking via grab but probably the best option) Best Travel Option • Compared to the RORO and bus option, which can take almost an entire day, this flight is a much quicker and more convenient alternative. Overall, Bantayan Airport is functional for what it offers, catering to seasonal tourist demand, but it’s far from a full-service airport experience. For those looking for a quicker way to get to Cebu without spending almost an entire day on travel, this flight is the best option.
Hans B — Google review
Very nice that they expanded the runway and are now able to accommodate commercial airplanes. Travel time from Cebu City is reduced to 20 minutes from whatever arduous journey it was previously. Hopefully, they will be able to maintain a regular flight connection. However, what's really absurd is that what seems to be the only dirt road on the island is the small road leading from the airport terminal to the entrance gate.😂 So, tourists stepping out of the arrival hall are kindly greeted by an uneven and muddy dirtroad.🤦🏻 I can't imagine what it must look like after heavy rain. 🤷‍♂️ It's like you've just arrived in sub-Saharan Africa..

I am a pilot from the USA. RPC8597 is a *very* well maintained C182. Recent Pponk high HP engine conversion. Yes the runway is not totally paved, but the aircraft have modified tires and gear for the bumps. I fly worse grass strips in the US with lesser landing gear. The pilot that I met was just accepted in to a major airline. Mr Davis and his wife worked in the USA and owned a skydiving business there. If you have a skydiving itch to scratch, I would not hesitate to jump with this group and wish them the best. 👍

Santiago Bay Beach is a spacious and inviting destination with its expansive white sand and clear waters. Visitors can rent umbrellas, tables, or snorkeling gear for a comfortable beach experience. The shallow waters near the shore make it safe for families with young children, while also providing opportunities to spot starfish and other marine life. The bay-like geography keeps the water warm close to the shore but becomes cooler further out.
The beach was absolutely stunning, with an incredibly wide expanse of soft, white sand. It was a relief to find no garbage littering the area, thanks to diligent maintenance by the government. Being open to the public meant everyone could enjoy the serene beauty and relax without any worries. It's definitely a spot I'd recommend for anyone looking to unwind and soak up some sun without the usual beach cleanup concerns.

One of the largest public beaches in Camotes Island. There are several resorts, restaurants and hotels around the area that can accommodate the tourists. The beach sand is golden - brown with an extensive shoreline. Parking and beach cottages are also available. Beach night life is alive especially during weekends.
Shad C — Google review
Just an average white sand beach. The only difference is that the water is shallow for the first 100 meters away from the shoreline. Combining with the bay-like geography (which restricts water flow) the water would be so warm (between 45°C during noon) making it unpleasant to swim. Unless you would go further away from the shore where water became deeper, then it would be colder.
K G — Google review
Nice and fairly large beach with white fine sand. Free admission and you can rent a table with an umbrella or a swimming mask or sit there in a bar. The water is really clean and you can see the starfish, other fish and the sea flora. It was never crowded. safe even for families with small children because a large part is shallow water. (especially at low tide) If you stay longer you can enjoy a nice sunset.

Visited on July 29 until July 31, 2022. My review is a 2.5 but I can't do a .5 so a 2 will do. The sand is fine and feels great on my toes. The food stalls nearby are subpar, surprisingly there is only one stall that does cocktails. The karaoke is way too loud, considering how close all the stalls are. With a few drinks and a good meal, the karaoke does cease to annoy me. The meals are delicious and each order feeds a couple and maybe a small child. It lacks variety though, as every food stall sells about the same thing. There is a business that does snorkelling, and diving services which will add to your experience! The view is gorgeous and there is no entrance fee, however, the beach is littered with trash. It is by a river and gets flooded with human trash. During the high tide, the trash gets pushed up to the shore. It is an ugly sight. It is also unpleasant to swim amongst so much filth. They do make an effort to clean it up after the high tide. They push the trash in the corner and so the shore looks beautiful but it still gets washed back during the high tide. If it were cleaned more, it would be a more enjoyable experience. If you don't mind trash, it is okay.

It is part of Mangodlong Rock Resort, which offers a breather for visitors before they head to the beach. The beach features calm waters suitable for activities like kayaking, and during high tide, visitors can enjoy a giant octopus slide into the water. The area is abundant with fish life and algae, making it an exciting spot for children.
The beach is beautiful, you will really enjoy here. There's nothing to worry about food coz they can serve you from breakfast to lunch and to dinner. Lot's of view to take a photo and you can stay here for a night.

Nice quiet place but nothing to do anywhere around that resort. The beach is nice it's a good place to relax but the diving sucks there are no fish in the water due to Dynamite fishing I went snorkeling everyday off the beach and I saw maybe two fish total. The water is very clear however and I swam out about 200 yards and still didn't see any fish I did see a sunken boat that was very deep maybe 50 down. The diving is extremely disappointing on the entire Island. Don't go there if you want to go diving and see a lot of fish or sea life

Very good place.. swimming, snorkel, and cliff jumping too 😊
Trebbew — Google review
Visited on July 30, 2022. This is a private beach with a fee. The owner of this resort is the same as the owner of Santiago Bay and Garden resort. It is of the same quality, however it seems that this resort is less well-known. It is smaller and has less variety of rooms and is not nearly as gorgeous as Santiago Garden. However, the beach is preferable. It is full of algae, which suggests abundant fish life. There is a playful octopus that excites the children standing on the rock. It seems to be out of order but the pipes suggest it was once a functional slide. I suppose if you don't mind a little pain, it is still a slide. Haha. However, it is now a more functional diving board. The beach is much cleaner than Santiago Bay and I actually prefer it. The sand is just as fine and it is much quieter here. The only downside is, if you are a tourist that prefers a "night life", you will not get it here. It is private and secluded. There is no karaoke and no other competing restaurants nearby. You only have the resort restaurant. If you're just looking to sleep and swim, I suggest doing it here. If you want a more varied experience and don't mind some trash, Santiago Bay is better for you.
Marii — Google review
The place is a little bit pricey compared to other beaches in camotes. Nice view, nice place to relax, nice place for diving

If you are coming from Danao port, this resort is just a minutes away frm consuelo port Limited beach front space but i like the privacy here and accommodations compared to Santiago Bay & Garden Resort.

Super affordable, you can enjoy cliff jumping and the beautiful white sand.
Joanmel C — Google review
Place was clean, waters were clear, fine white sand, you can rent a kayak since the waters there are calm. There's a giant octopus which also doubles as a slide to the waters. But you can only use it during high tide.

Sillon Island, often referred to as Virgin Island, is a charming little gem nestled in the municipality of Sante Fe in Cebu Province. This idyllic spot is perfect for beach lovers and adventure seekers alike, offering opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and even cliff diving. Accessible via rental boats from Bantayan Island, it’s an easy getaway that promises stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere.
Chill place to be in with friends and family. Better to bring your own food. Sea sand sun were perfect!

Part and higlight of Island Hopping in Bantayan. Virgin Island is privately owned, hence the entrance fee. White sands and some rocky areas ideal for snorkeling. Food is available though pricey due to location.

One word.... WOW. amazing island view, very beautiful shoreline, rock formation, cliff diving and many more. A 5 star place indeed. A little pricey on the food and beverage but still worth it. Very friendly local. Thay have floating huts and bamboo board. Enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water and very white powdery sand. Cheers
Johnmark C — Google review
I was a bit wary before coming here due to the mixed re views but I did enjoy it. It has a couple of beautiful beaches. Great for swimming. The snorkelling wasn't up to much but there was a couple of fish floating around. Price for drinks/food wasn't too bad. Cost for hiring the cabanas was too much so we didn't bother and just found a shaded spot on the beach. It's quite a little tourist trap but on saying that it was quite clean and pretty compared to some of the beaches on bantayan island. Would recommend for a day out.
Adrian S — Google review
Virgin Islands - nice place and beautiful beachline. You can do snorkling activities here. Lots of colorful fishes. You should come here during weekdays so that only few tourists are present so you get to have all the beach to yourselves.

MY FAVOURITE PLACE OF ALL IN MY ENTIRE VACATION IN CEBU ❤️❤️ the sand are soooo white and clean! The place is not that crowded. There are lots of activities to do there like beach volleyball, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. Plus life vests can be used for FREE! The seabed is not full of rocks so it's not slippery. They also have clean comfort rooms. They have a restaurant there and to my surprise its affordable and delicious! It's just the ambiance that I don't like cause its full of flies. But overall, we will definitely go back here! 👍🏻❤️
Ivon C — Google review
A must visit when in Bantayan. Accessible by rental boats from Bantayan Island. Entrance fees are as posted in the pictures and are actually reasonable (Php 200 for adults). Wrist bands will be issued upon admission. Admission staff are not so friendly, but lifeguards are. Lifeguards are everywhere and are very helpful. Island is privately owned and maintained hence the good services and general set-up of the place. There's a cliff diving spot some 10mins walk from the main activity area. If you want some little seclusion there's another coastline near the cliff diving area. They seem to also have a restaurant but haven't tried since we bought with us our food. There's overnight accommodation available and they are also quite reasonable in price. Will definitely go back and try their overnight accommodation and experience for myself. All in all Sillon Island, or Virgin Island as they advertise it, is a very safe place to be. During summer months be watchful of jellyfish though, they're quite painful if you happen to encounter one.

Lake Danao is a serene and picturesque destination on Camotes Island. The park offers pedal-boat rentals, tree-shaded grassy areas, and a scenic islet in the lake. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with abundant shade from numerous trees and refreshing breezes. The park's vastness and the size of the lake are impressive, providing an ideal setting for nature lovers.
Lake Danao Park was undoubtedly the highlight of my vacation on Camotes Island! The park gives out a relaxed atmosphere with a abundant shade from numerous trees to shield you from the sun's heat, and the refreshing breeze adds to the charm. The park's vastness and the size of the lake were impressive. Upon arrival, we were the only visitors, affordable entrance fee, and the staff there were friendly. Inside the park, there are foods, but we only bought Buko Juice and Salvaro. I also encountered the most adorable dog here. Originally, we had only planned to enjoy the scenic beauty of Lake Danao, but our excitement soared when we discovered the pedal boats on the lake. The pedal boat only cost 50 pesos per person. This allowed us to truly experience the lake, rather than merely observing it. There was also a lengthy zipline that stretched across the lake, but we were on a budget so we decided not to. Our time at Lake Danao Park was genuinely enjoyable. If you're planning a visit to Camotes Island, be sure to include this park in your gaals! I highly recommend it.

It has some activities that you could try like horse back riding, water cycle and zipline. There is also a "salbaro" (local delicacy) which is a cracker with coconut syrup for 10 pesos and some fresh buko juice.
Majrie — Google review
Suggest to try their Zipline because you will be able to see the vast view of the lake. But I do hope they will expand it more and put more activities in the place. You can rent a boat for a round tour in the lake. Affordable entrance fee.

The place offers a lot of outdoor activities from water sports like kayaking, boat tour and they have also zipline, horse backriding and a souvinier shop. The place is perfect for instagrammable shots and the space so huge. The lake view is awesome you can see the entire view if you are in ziplining. For more epic vibes you may watch my vlogs on my channel at Jill Travenner.

If you want to chill and just be close with nature, Lake Danao is a great choice to go. There's a lot of activities you can do in the place such as Zip line across the other side of the lake for 250Php(rates may change), Kayaking, Pedal boat for two or four people. It was not commercialized tho but you could actually have fish spa with the fishes at the side of the lake. There were also some birds in the place. And if your famished with all the activities there's also a lot of available restau in the place for an affordable price
Franco — Google review
I love the place! You can do all kinds of water activities (kayaking) for as low as Php 50! They also have zipline (Php 200) where it takes you to the other side of the lake! They also serve food. This place is very relaxing. Definitely will go back if I visit the Islands again.

Kalanggaman Island is a hidden gem that has recently gained popularity for its stunning natural beauty. This petite paradise, located near Palompon, boasts pristine white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The island's highlight is its impressive 795-meter long sandbar, often celebrated as one of the finest in the Philippines. With no resorts or restaurants to disrupt the idyllic scenery, visitors can truly immerse themselves in nature’s tranquility.
can keep coming back and never get tired of this place! more worth it if you stay the night. keep in mind to go in summer. a little rain or too much wind can easily cancel boats from sailing to the island. walk the island end to end to see both sandbars. cheaper if you DIY. tents and loungers are available for rent on the island. great place to snorkel as well. keep within sight of people of the lifeguard.
Raz B — Google review
My first island visit and it did not let me down. We rented a charter boat to take us here. Brought out own lunch and rented one of the huts on the island. The water was a nice super clear and clean and the sand bar was visible that day.The island is peaceful and never felt overcrowded, making it perfect for those looking to escape the hustle of city life. Whether you're swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, or just relaxing under the palm trees, there’s a sense of calm and serenity that's hard to describe. What stood out most was how well-preserved the island is—credit to the locals and caretakers who clearly take pride in keeping it clean and sustainable. We brought our own food for a beach picnic and left only footprints, which added to the authentic island experience. If you're planning a trip to the Philippines, don’t miss Kalanggaman. It’s truly a hidden gem that deserves all the praise it gets!

The sand here is whiter than the other island I've been to. I did not manage to see the long sand bar just a half of it since it appeared only in late afternoon. I only had a day tour on the island. I enjoyed exploring the island alone. Hehe.

Kalanggaman Island is absolutely stunning! The white sand, crystal-clear waters, and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature. The long sandbar is a must-see — great for photos and a relaxing walk. Boats are organized, and the locals are friendly. Don’t forget to bring your own food and water. One visit is definitely not enough — I’ll be back for sure! 🌊🏝️
Crystal A — Google review
Kalanggaman Island is easily one of the most beautiful small islands with a sandbar that I’ve visited so far. It features pristine white sand, crystal-clear waters, and is a great spot for diving and snorkeling. The famous sandbar only appears during low tide, so it’s best to plan your trip accordingly—locals are quick to advise timing your visit just right. While there’s a small store on the island for basic food, most tour packages already include lunch. Just make sure to bring your own drinking water, as fresh water is limited on the island. Overnight stays are possible, but be aware that your return depends on boat availability. If there are no boats scheduled, you might end up waiting until a tour boat from Cebu arrives. There are designated snorkeling areas, but exercise caution—currents near the sandbar can be quite strong. If you're lucky, you might even spot dolphins swimming between Malapascua and Kalanggaman, which is a magical bonus to the trip. Overall, Kalanggaman is a must-visit destination—just come prepared and time your trip well for the best experience.

Incredible island and beautifully well kept by locals, definitely recommend a boat trip here. Clearest water I’ve ever seen, make sure you walk to both ends of the island. The end where the boats don’t go is a great spot for snorkelling.

Logon Beach, situated on the southwest side of Malapascua Island in Cebu, Philippines, is a picturesque and secluded white sand beach known for its clear waters and stunning coral reefs. Despite being close to residential buildings and the ferry terminal to Maya, it offers unique cabins and relatively uncrowded surroundings. The beach is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving, sunbathing, and relaxation amidst lush tropical vegetation.
As I travel more in the Philippines I find the longer I stay in one place the less money I spend because I eventually find the best deals, restaurants, etc. upon arriving in malapascua I met a guy named Jason, he is one of several " local tour guide, boat Capt, area expert" he was amazing, he even gave me a ride for free when I visited the small local congregation of my church. He found me a good deal on a private taxi back to Cebu, various other deals and his cousin Marybelle is the best professional massage girl on the island.

Once a Nice beach, now more busy port. Mamy boats, a lot of trafic. Water is clear but shalow. During low tide is swiming unpossible. On the beach is a Lot of garbage. Only kookay hotel does cleaning in front of property.

Logon beach is pretty much besides the port of malapascua where all the pump boats coming from Maya roro port land. This area has facilities for the boats to land including wharfs. The area is shallow with clear waters. Logon beach has nice fine sand perfect for swimming in
Richard F — Google review
Everything is perfect. The people are friendly and the beaches are great. It's when you're leaving that makes it a bad experience. You get treated with a non-chalant terminal staff who does not seem to care about cancelled trips. Boats gets cancelled without any apparent replacement and you will be forced to wait for another 30 mins. Maybe foreigners get treated different? Who knows. The rest is close to paradise except for when you're leaving.

Nestled in the lush greenery of Biliran, Ulan-Ulan Falls is a breathtaking natural wonder that stands 25 meters tall. The name 'Ulan-Ulan,' meaning rain in the local dialect, perfectly captures the enchanting atmosphere surrounding these falls. A short trek leads you to Recoletos Falls, where you'll find a delightful natural swimming pool perfect for cooling off after your adventure.
Visiting Ulan-Ulan Falls is a breathtaking experience, hidden deep within the lush forests of Biliran, Philippines. After a scenic trek through dense greenery and streams, the sight of the falls, with water powerfully cascading into a crystal-clear pool, is mesmerizing. The cool mist and the untouched beauty of the surroundings create a serene atmosphere, offering a refreshing escape from the world. Swimming in the crisp waters and listening to the roar of the falls immerses you in nature's tranquility, making the journey completely worthwhile.
Robert G — Google review
Our local tour guide said Ulan-Ulan Falls is by far the most beautiful waterfall in Biliran—and we can definitely attest to that. The entrance fee is ₱20 per person, and there are small stores near the registration area where you can buy snacks. There’s a short trail with stairs leading down to the waterfall. Once you reach the falls, you’ll immediately feel the powerful rush of water—it was a fun and amazing experience. Everyone should definitely include Ulan-Ulan Falls in their itinerary when visiting Biliran. Caution: When we visited, there was a thin, long snake spotted along the stairway. Fortunately, no harm was done as our guide noticed it early and safely moved it away. Just a reminder—when you’re in nature, it’s normal to encounter different species. Be mindful, stay alert, and always show respect to the environment and its wildlife.

Must visit falls when you're in the area! We went in the morning and pretty much had the falls for ourselves. If you're hungry, there's a small store you can buy chips, biscuits and drinks near the entrance. The shower area at the entrance is also well maintained. Entrance is Php20 per person.
Haifa C — Google review
By only looking at the images and videos you see in social media, tha falls looks deceptively serene. But when I arrived there, it was awesomely overwhelming. Before reaching the spot, you get to walk into a challenging terraine of about 300 meters. Expect narrow trails with mud and rocks, and mini cliffs on your left side covered in bushes as you descend going there. You will first hear the falls before seeing it so keep your eyes open. Once you see a glimpse of the falls, expect the road to be better as that portion is already cemented. Then enjoy the view of the falls while traversing atop the boulders and dipping into the cold waters. Well worth the hike.
Greur B — Google review
When you like to see a very nice Waterfall, than you should drive to the Ulan-Ulan Waterfall. When you use Google as your navigation system, please drive further when google say, you are reaching the spot. Because the road ends on the new entrance and you need to go only 5 to 10 minutes down to the waterfall.
Andreas B — Google review
The path to the falls is cemented so it was a pretty easy walk. We were told that it was previously a pretty rough road. It can be a bit of a struggle climbing back up the stairs though. It can be pretty steep.🥲 I had a slight struggle to be able to actually reach the water because of the huge rocks. Be careful so you won't slip. There's no cottages or seats down there. They must be preserving the natural state of the falls. So just bring a mat if you plan to hold a picnic and swim with your fam. Be sure to clean as you go.💗
Bethany S — Google review
Ulan-ulan Falls offers a refreshing and memorable experience for nature lovers. The paved road leading to the top and the cemented pathway with handrails make it easily accessible, even for beginners or families with kids. The walk down is scenic, and the pathways are well-maintained. Once you reach the falls, the natural beauty truly takes your breath away. Though there are some rocky areas near the falls, it adds to the adventure and natural charm of the place. The water is cold, clear, and so refreshing—a perfect reward after the short trek. The falls are impressively high, with strong, gushing water that makes the experience feel even more majestic. Overall, Ulan-ulan Falls is a must-visit when in Biliran. Whether you're a thrill-seeker or simply want to relax in nature, this place won’t disappoint!

Driving from Naval city over the mountains is one of the most beautiful scenery. As in all the the natural attractions, there's no road signage. The road is concrete right down to the parking lot. We paid 40 pesos for 2 people and 10 pesos for parking. Nicely maintained with concrete stairs down to the water and cross a like bamboo bridge. Then walk a few hundred feet over rocks to the base of the falls. We swam in the cold water but wasn't overly cold. Will go back again.

I give it 2 stars. Though the view is great and the water quality, it’s sad to see that the management don’t practice proper waste disposal. I did see a dump of trash behind the toilet and it’s the only disposal they have just right beside the river itself. How can we promote Eco tourism when we ourself cannot do the things that should properly be done. The Provincial Government of Biliran can do better than this.
Bryle N — Google review
If you are in Biliran, this is a must-visit falls especially if you have your own vehicle, since the place is already accessible. _ Tiredness are gone after seeing it with my own eyes for the firstime. It took me sometime to watch its natural structure before i even say a word. " i was really amazed by its beauty. _ Also after knowing that i might found more layer of falls at the top of the first one. And it didnt failed me . I really found more. _Being a person who love discovering a hidden natural beauty of a place. _ I highly recommend " Tinagofalls of Biliran " .

Unfortunately totally destroyed nature and infrastructures due to typhoon in January 2018. Water showed it's power. Needs massive repair and securing work. Try to get reliable information before going there. I guess they will need several months to make it secure. For now no need to go there. UPDATE april2018: stumbled over few posts on other travel site according to which some activity is back there.

Nestled in Palo, the MacArthur Leyte Landing Memorial National Park stands as a poignant tribute to a pivotal moment in history—the landing of General Douglas MacArthur and Allied Forces on October 20, 1944. This protected area not only commemorates the liberation of the Philippines from Japanese occupation but also showcases impressive bronze statues that tower over visitors, capturing the essence of that historic day. Among these larger-than-life sculptures are representations of key figures who participated in this monumental event.
A must place to visit when in Tacloban, a nice view of the sea, fresh air, good for jogging, hang out and food trip...also it reminds us of our history...(note: its under renovation/maintenance as of today)
Ecko V — Google review
It was pouring when we visited and there was ongoing construction in one area but still a beautiful memorial. I appreciate the signs and mini history lessons. The park is huge and well maintained. It has enough parking across the street, has a security guard and everything is clean.

The park partly under renovation. Very well maintain , clean. Police visibility are there, you can feel history . Picture take any where, any angle you wanted

The Santo Niño Shrine and Heritage Museum, located in Tacloban City, Leyte, is a significant historical and cultural landmark. Established in 1990, it aims to preserve and showcase the rich history and traditions of the Philippines, particularly the veneration of the Santo Niño. The museum boasts an impressive collection of historical artifacts, antiques, religious objects, and artwork that reflect the deep Catholic faith and cultural heritage of the Filipino people.
We recently revisited this place in 2024, and overall, there haven’t been many changes compared to our visit six years ago. Here’s what I observed: What I Liked Rich Historical Value: This location remains a great place to visit for anyone interested in history. Its significance and stories continue to make it a meaningful destination. Final Thoughts Despite the lack of noticeable changes over the years, this is still a wonderful place to visit, especially for those who appreciate historical landmarks. It’s a timeless destination that’s worth recommending to others!

Was here in 2017 and it has declined tremendously. The ground floor was soaked in flood water in last year's typhoon and it has damaged so many of the rooms, furniture and walls. The 2nd floor was also damaged by strong winds and broke windows, curtains rails etc. There is a fee of 200 per person for a guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the items in the shrine and the best places to take photos. It was surprising to know that the Marcos family has never stayed at this house. Imelda Marcos built this to store her items, mostly were given as "gifts " by world leaders. It's sad that this property is not being taken cared of well.
Belle — Google review
This is a sequestered Marcos family mansion turned into a museum. The design is very lavish, with most of the decorations being imported or gifted. Guided tours are available daily from 8 am to 5 pm at Php 150/adult.
Stephanie L — Google review
A trip to Tacloban will not be complete without visiting the Santo Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum or the Romualdez mansion. In here one would learn to appreciate the beautiful taste of Imelda Marcos or for others frown at the extravagant way of life. The Chinese vases and porcelain , ivory artifacts, religious items are of high quality and with stickers of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) which meant they were part of the assets seized after the Edsa revolution. I just wonder though if we have updated appraisal of the value of everything inside including several Malang paintings that were part of the artworks displayed in the rooms inside the museum. The Malang paintings were no longer in display but I saw them in 2019. Per the volunteer tour guide the Malangs were put in the storage during the pandemic. For a minimal fee of 150 per person this is a good deal. One may also opt to have a tour guide which I found better than going on our own since the guide will be able to give insider info on some historical tidbits like it was there where George Hamilton danced with Imelda Marcos. Highly recommended when in Tacloban especially for lovers of antiquity and student of history. #museum #SantoNinoShrine #ImeldaMarcos #chineseporcelain #whenInTacloban P.S. some of the photo captions were generated through the use of google lens.
Pearly J — Google review
This is basically a "showroom" of Imelda Marcos. The tour guide said the Marcos family never lived here. There are more than 20 rooms. This is currently managed by an NGO and still controlled by PCGG. The entrance fee is P150 per person. However, the showroom is very dusty and lacks proper maintenance. Visiting this place, triggers a lot of opinions and questions in our minds.
January S — Google review
I initially thought this place was a shrine, but it is actually a museum of Marcos’ wealth with an altar inside. During our visit, we paid a 150-peso entrance fee and were immediately assigned a guide. We passed by the altar, and the guide highlighted rooms with different motifs. The furniture collection is quite impressive, as they came from different parts of the world. The museum is spacious, and the hallways are well-maintained, but the rooms, especially on the ground floor, need restoration. Overall, we left impressed and might recommend it to our friends visiting Tacloban.
Janu-Rey S — Google review
very nice experience. the tour guide was very helpful and has explained every parts of the museum. P150 entrance for adults

M/V Eva Jocelyn Shrine is a memorial dedicated to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda, which struck the Philippines in 2013. The shrine features the remnants of a cargo ship that was swept ashore in Tacloban's coastal barangay of Anibong during the devastating storm. This historical site serves as a reminder of the impact of Typhoon Haiyan, historically known as one of the strongest typhoons ever recorded.
Good educational experience. Can't imagine the force to push that thing ashore, Yolanda must have really been something else. Unique to visit! Word to the wise, the bathrooms located in the back are not kept up at all! Enter at your own risk!
Scott H — Google review
The M/V Eva Jocelyn ship had set sail from Basey, Samar, and was swept ashore by storm surges caused by the super typhoon Yolanda. It washed up in Barangay Anibong, Tacloban City, Leyte. The ship was made a memorial and renamed to commemorate of the victims.
Raphael N — Google review
We didn't really get to experience the Yolanda personally. We merely saw the tremendous effect of the super typhoon in the news. This place reminds us of how we need to value life and thank God for His protection.
January S — Google review
Intresting sight to see when one is in Tacloban City and to learn about Super Typhoon Yolanda.

This Shipwreck in Tacloban stands as a solemn yet inspiring landmark, a lasting reminder of the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Yolanda, the lives lost, and the unwavering resilience of the people who rose from the tragedy.
Renzil B — Google review
Sad story but the Filipino resilience has prevailed, this is a memorial of the ship that end up in the road push by 6 metres waves and wind of 370klm
Xavier M — Google review
Review as of March 2024 The people of Tacloban did the right thing making the shipwreck into a monument as a reminder how disastrous a typhoon can get. Not much to do here other than take photos. There are also no restaurants nor museums to make the visit last longer than a few minutes.
Kwik A — Google review
The place is accessible since its by the road and there's no entrance fee to enter the place. This is already portion of the entire ship that was washed ashore during the landfall of Yolanda Typhoon. If you stand from the shrine and you look behind you'll see how far the ship wss from the sea! It's chilling cause you'll then realize how many people were killed during that time.

Nothing to rave about. The area is inhospitable to foreigners which makes the bridge that much less worthy of getting any attention. Just a stupid bridge in a stupid area. Oh, and I was scammed by the woman beside me in the picture. Waste of time effort and money to go there to just be taken advantage of when you only ever had good intentions. I will never go back there.
Daniel A — Google review
Beautiful truss-design bridge that lights up at night after dusk. There was no prominent viewing area promoted but we found one (see the pic)...you have to go down a road that runs next to the bridge (on the opposite side to the Polytechnic) that takes you to an area where you cross back under the bridge and along a walk way (see pic). The viewing area is really nice and right on the water, making for a great view of the bridge as the sun goes down. We were told there was a light show of different colours and spotlights but the bridge just stayed the same colour (purple) the entire time we were there so didn't see any light show.
Andrew S — Google review
Constructed during the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos through Japanese Official Development Assistance loans, it has a total length of 2.16 kilometers (1.34 mi)—the second longest bridge spanning a body of seawater in the Philippines after the Cebu-Cordova Bridge. It was also the longest bridge in the Philippines upon its opening in 1973, surpassed in 1976 by Candaba Viaduct of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), another bridge that connects from one province to another, connecting the provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan. Its longest length is a steel girder viaduct built on reinforced concrete piers, and its main span is of an arch-shaped truss design.
Raphael N — Google review
We crossed the bridge both in the daylight and nighttime to have a better look and experience of this great structure. I suggest you should also pass by it by night as it has better visuals with its colorful lights and you can pose for more photos as it’s less crowded compared in the morning. Just be cautious on passing vehicles and be reminded to be fast for cars are not allowed to stay for too long.
Charlotte ( — Google review
Review as of March 2024 San Juanico Bridge runs over 2100m long over the San Juanico Strait. It is the 2nd longest bridge in the Philippines which connects Leyte and Samar. The view around is spectacular if you have a chance to slowly drive to appreciate the horizon.
