Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple Karnataka

Mentioned on
1 list
Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled amidst picturesque mountains, Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple is a renowned Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to the lord of serpents. The temple's architecture reflects Kerala style and is well-maintained, exuding a divine atmosphere. However, some visitors have reported encountering impolite behavior from temple workers. During peak times like Ayilya (Ashlesha) star, the temple experiences heavy footfall.
Visiting Kukke feels like stepping into a combination of myth, nature, and devotion. The sound of the river, chants, the greenery, and the sense of history all blend to give a strong feeling of calm and spiritual solace. For many, the rituals (especially about snakes / serpent worship) feel deeply symbolic—of fear, protection, karmic balance, and hope. Famous for rituals related to Naga Dosha. Surrounded by Western Ghats forest beauty. River dip at Kumaradhara is a must before darshan. Anna Prasada (free meals) for all devotees daily. Timings (as per temple schedule) Morning Darshan: 6:30 AM – 1:30 PM Evening Darshan: 3:30 PM – 8:00 PM Poojas like Ashlesha Bali and Sarpa Samskara happen in specific slots; devotees usually pre-book. 🚌 How to Reach By Train: Nearest station is Subrahmanya Road (SBHR), ~12 km away. By Road: Well-connected from Mangaluru (105 km), Bengaluru (~280 km), Mysuru (~180 km). By Air: Nearest airport is Mangaluru International Airport (~115 km).

The temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya, worshipped here in connection with serpents (Naga devatas). The darshan was smooth and well-organized. Despite the number of visitors, the queue moved steadily, and the priests conducted the rituals sincerely. I was able to feel a strong spiritual presence inside the sanctum. I also appreciated the temple's cleanliness and orderliness, especially considering how many people visit daily. The architecture is traditional and adds to the sacred feel. The weather during my visit was rainy,. I recommend carrying an umbrella or raincoat if you're visiting during the monsoon season, as showers are quite common. My visit to Kukke Subramanya Temple was memorable and spiritually uplifting. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking divine blessings, especially those with a connection to serpent-related doshas or those simply looking for peace amidst nature and devotion. Note: If your planning on serpent dosha puja you have to book the puja in their website before visit it is a two daya puja

It was nice visit to this spiritual place. Went along with my friends. This place has very different vibe all together. Mighty Kumar Parvat is being visible. Went on Saturday evening had our prasad which took around 1 hour including wait & taking of prasad. Faced issues while getting guest house of Temple trust (book in advance) availability on weekends or festive season will be a issue. Took hotel outside. Darshan: went at temple at around 0600hrs and waited in a que till 0700hrs. Darshan started at 0700hrs & by 0740hrs we were out. Cons: Temple committe should work ok Maintaining the cleanliness of prasad house Overall experience was nice.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Kukke Subramanya Temple, one of the most divine and scenic temples located in the lap of the Western Ghats. The temple is beautifully built in traditional South Indian architectural style, with intricate wooden carvings and a peaceful ambiance. The main deity here is Lord Subramanya (Kartikeya), worshipped as the protector from serpent doshas. You can also have darshan of Vasuki, the serpent god, and other shrines like Adi Subramanya, Ganapati, and Uma Maheshwara within the temple premises. - The darshan queue is well-managed, on weekdays it takes about 30–60 minutes, while on weekends and special days it may take longer. - There are options for free darshan as well as special darshan tickets (₹50–₹200) for quicker Darsan. - The Anna Prasada (free meal) served by the temple is simple, delicious, and very well organized. - Timings: Generally, darshan is available from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM. - Ample parking space is available near the temple at a reasonable charge. - Numerous shops selling pooja items, prasadam, and local snacks are available right outside. - Several lodges and restaurants nearby offer decent accommodation and food options. Overall, Kukke Subramanya Temple is a spiritually uplifting and peaceful destination worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

I’m from Hubballi, and while looking back at some old memories from 2022, I just couldn’t resist sharing my experience of visiting the beautiful Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple. While scrolling through my gallery today (3 November 2025), I came across some old photos from my trip to Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple, and it instantly brought back a wave of peaceful memories. Seeing those pictures made me feel like reliving that beautiful journey again, and I thought it’s the right time to share my experience here. I and my family had visited this temple around 12 June 2022, and it was truly one of our most memorable trips. The journey was filled with lush greenery, winding roads, and misty hills that created a calm and refreshing atmosphere even before reaching the temple. The temple’s traditional architecture looked divine, and though it was quite crowded that day, the spiritual energy and positive vibe were truly unmatched. The sound of bells, chants, and the fragrance of incense made the whole experience unforgettable. After our darshan, we also explored some nearby scenic and historical places, which made the trip even more special. The natural beauty, flowing streams, and peaceful surroundings added a perfect balance of spirituality and serenity to our visit. The temple and its surroundings were clean and well maintained, and the entire area felt calm and family-friendly. Looking back now, I’m really glad I captured those moments, sometimes old photos remind us how meaningful those journeys were and how they still make us smile years later. Truly a place worth visiting with family for the blessings, the peace, and the timeless charm it holds. Thinking if I could visit here again someday… #kukkeshrisubrahmanyatemple #karnatakaheritage #nammakarnataka 💛❤️

The Kukke Subramanya Temple stands as a powerful and highly revered pilgrimage site, famous as the ultimate destination for resolving Sarpa Dosha (serpent-related afflictions). Nestled amidst the spectacular greenery of the Western Ghats, the temple offers a truly serene and mystical atmosphere. Dedicated to Lord Subramanya, the Lord of all serpents, its significance is rooted in the legend of the divine serpent Vasuki seeking refuge here. Visitors consistently praise the unique and profound experience of rituals like Ashlesha Bali Pooja and Sarpa Samskara. Essential practices include a holy dip in the nearby Kumaradhara River to cleanse the spirit before seeking darshan. While it draws huge crowds during peak season, especially for specific poojas, the temple is renowned for its strong spiritual energy. The traditional Dravidian architecture and the surrounding natural beauty of the Kumara Parvatha enhance the feeling of divine protection and solace, making it a must-visit for devotees seeking spiritual relief and peace. Online booking for major sevas is highly recommended.

Hi guys I am from Bangalore and I visited this Beautiful Temple on 30/6/25. But I am regular visitor since 1990... 1) Temple timings is from 6AM to 1.30PM and from 3.30PM to 9PM 2) The Kukke Subramanya Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Subramanya. 3)The temple is known for its religious importance, especially for those seeking blessings to remove Naga Dosha and other planetary afflictions. 4) The temple is surrounded by the beautiful Western Ghats, making the drive to and from the temple quite scenic. 5) It tends to be less crowded in the afternoons, while mornings can be quite busy. 6)The temple is well-maintained with facilities like shoe counters, luggage counters, drinking water, and seva counters. 7) Nearby, there are good food options like the New Mysore Cafe and some small Restaurants 8)There are special darshan options available for a fee, but it's recommended to get tickets in advance. 9) U have to take Different Tickets for Different Poojas 10) There will be Tiffin, Lunch and Dinner from Temple Side which is at free of Cost. 11) Lots of Buses are available from Bengaluru. 12) Lots of Staying Options are available with Reasonable prices. 13) Mobile phones are allowed inside the temple but No Photographs. 14) Darshan will be Quick even there is a huge crowds but if u want to make Some Poojas then it will take 2-3 hrs minimum so go early...

Paithalmala Tourism

Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Paithalmala is a stunning hill station nestled in the Kannur district of Kerala, India, and stands as the highest peak in the region at an impressive 4,500 feet above sea level. This picturesque destination is renowned for its lush biodiversity and breathtaking natural beauty, making it a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Trekking enthusiasts flock to Paithalmala during both monsoon and summer seasons to explore its scenic trails.
The mesmerizing effect of hills and valleys shrouded in thick fog is a spectacle unique to Paithalmala in the monsoon, offering a magical, almost dreamlike quality to treks and photography. Wandering through misty vistas with cool drizzles amplifies the adventure, making even short walks captivating, but often obscures long-range views and sunrises or sunsets. Nature photographers and contemplative walkers will love these atmospheric conditions. Be ready for sudden rains, muddy trails, and reduced visibility—these add thrill but require extra caution

Really beautiful place Small hike from ticket counter to reach hill top I went via KSRTC bus, which isn't a great idea since you need to walk atleast 3km to reach the ticket counter But the trek after that is beautiful and inside the forest.

My kids and I were the only ones who went. It felt like a different world. Trek is easy. It took us about 3 hours in total. It did rain and the weather up there is crazy as it was monsoon.... Plasics aee not allowed, so pack your snacks in a steel box and carry.... Beware of leeches. Timing is 9.30 am to 3.30. there are wildlife roaming including elephants. At the base at the ticket counter on the top and half way, all three places there were forest gaurds for monitoring..... We had lunch at paithal paradise and food was aweeeeesome, best ghee rice I ever had.... They also had fish, chicken and beef and also biriyani. Other snacks like cutlet and all.... Best place to visit for a different experience all together.... The guard there said one can expect rains till end of November in this region , so go prepared.

One of the best trekking spot you have to experience . You have to be there on time otherwise you will miss it. (9:00 am to 3:pm) Its better if you reach there before 1 pm. So you can experience the whole thing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Paithalmala – A Perfect Nature Escape! Paithalmala is one of the best hilltop trekking destinations in Kannur! The views from the top are simply amazing — lush green mountains, cool winds, and a great spot for sunrise and sunset lovers. 🌄✨ The trek path is moderate and enjoyable for beginners too. There’s a watchtower at the peak where you can take stunning photos. 📸 The weather is usually misty and refreshing, especially during monsoon and winter seasons. ✅ Peaceful environment ✅ Great photo spots ✅ Good for trekking & nature lovers ✅ Perfect weekend getaway ⚠️ Small tip: Carry enough water and wear proper trekking shoes. Visitors to this pastoral landmark can rent a Jeep to reach the top for panoramic valley views.
Well organised mafia of 4X4 jeep drivers. 18 kilometres from Abbey falls. The drive is extreme off-roading with large stones not suitable for regular cars. The rates vary based on the day of the week. On reaching the peak you are given 40 minutes to explore the area before you return by the same jeep. Absolutely not suitable for people with back aches. Bikers too have to be extremely cautious on certain strips. Keep a watch for leeches during the rainy season.
Rohan F — Google review
Jeep ride to the top costs around 2500/- fits 6-8 people. Off road is really tough and doable by 4x4 and very experienced bikers. Not recommended to visit this place by own vehicle in monsoon.
Soumyojit S — Google review
Nice place but unfortunately was too sunny when I visited. The Jeep ride was very bumpy. Nice place but not worth the hype according to me.

Mandalpatti is an absolutely beautiful place and a must-visit if you’re in Coorg! The view from the top is breathtaking – you literally feel like you’re standing above the clouds. The off-road jeep ride to reach the viewpoint was an amazing experience by itself, super fun and adventurous. The jeep ride to the top is an adventure by itself — bumpy but totally worth it once you see the clouds and greenery all around. The weather is cool and refreshing, making it a perfect escape from city life. Only suggestion: the road could be better maintained, but the view makes you forget everything. A must-visit for nature lovers and photographers! 🌄🚙

Waterfalls
Mallalli Waterfalls is a stunning natural attraction located near Pushpagiri hills in Somwarpete. Accessible from various directions, the area offers breathtaking views of multi-tiered waterfalls amidst lush greenery. Visitors can enjoy the wide flowing falls and take in the scenic beauty from different viewpoints while navigating around 600 steps to reach the base. Although there are no entry fees, a parking charge applies.
Absolutely stunning waterfall during the monsoon. You can take a view from the top. However if you wamt to have an amazing close look and feel the fresh mist and water sprinkled on your face, you need to go down the 500+ stairs but the view will be worth it.
Umer S — Google review
The falls is really beautiful, especially during the monsoons. To see the falls from really close you've to get down abt 615 steps... My advice is not to go near the falls as the view from up close is not that great with all the fencing that's been put to safeguard the tourists. You can get an awesome view from slightly higher up rather than from the base.
Ck P — Google review
Mallalli Waterfalls in Coorg is an absolutely awesome place to visit! The waterfall is grand and powerful, surrounded by lush green hills that make the view simply breathtaking. The trek down to the falls is a bit tiring, but totally worth it once you see the beautiful cascade up close. The sound of rushing water and the cool mist in the air make it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. It’s best to visit during or right after the monsoon season when the waterfall is at its fullest. Overall, Mallalli Waterfalls is a must-visit destination in Coorg — peaceful, adventurous, and truly stunning! 🌿💦
Dada P — Google review
The gushing waterfall during monsoon is serene and the beauty of the waterfall is beyond words. It's 15 mins of walk from the hill top to the view point. The climb down to the view point and hard climb up after the view is really worth it.
Srujan C — Google review
The waterfall is great and can be covered as a part of a one day trip in Sakleshpur itinerary. There is enough parking but mind you, internet for Jio/Airtel is simply non existent.Do carry cash with you. If you are somewhat healthy you can climb down the stairs and get a magnificent view from close quarters. Elderly people can take around 50 stairs to go down and still see the view from a distance. Overall a good waterfall during rainy season and the drive towards the falls is via ghat roads and easy drive.
Dodo G — Google review
It is an amazing place , 10 mins down walk. 30 mins up walk on stairs , while climbing back might feel tired and exhausted but the view is more worth ,amazing water amazing nature must visit
Vinay V — Google review
Mallali Falls, near Somwarpet in Coorg, Karnataka, is a majestic 200-foot waterfall formed by the River Kumaradhara, surrounded by dense forests and coffee estates of the Western Ghats. The drive itself is scenic, but the highlight is the trek of around 500–600 steps down to the viewpoint. The descent offers incredible views of the valley, while the climb back up can be quite tiring but rewarding. The best time to visit is from July to October, when the waterfall is at its most powerful and the landscape is lush. Exploring the site typically takes 2–3 hours, including the trek, time at the base, and the return climb. Facilities are minimal, with parking and small stalls selling tea, water, and snacks, while accommodation and restaurants are available in Somwarpet or Madikeri. Carry sturdy shoes, drinking water, and a raincoat. Cameras are safe if kept in a waterproof pouch, as the mist near the base is strong. Avoid plastics, slippery footwear, and heavy baggage to enjoy the raw beauty of Mallali Falls.

Upon reaching the destination, the sight of the flowing water is truly awe-inspiring, providing an ideal setting for photography and unwinding. The area is well-kept, allowing for easy exploration and a leisurely picnic.
Not easy to reach near the falls. Had to walk around 400 mts and not advisable for physically challenged people.

This waterfall can be considered more of an optional stop during your Coorg trip, as you can’t actually reach the bottom for a close-up view. The location is a bit far and there aren’t many other attractions nearby, but if you have extra time, it’s still worth a visit. You’ll need to climb a little to reach the side viewpoint, but the scenery from there makes the effort worthwhile and offers a refreshing experience amidst nature.
Kumar K — Google review
The drive to the falls is quite good, through the hills and coffee plantation. The falls is visible from the road itself. There's a short hike (200m) from the road, through a small part. Beware of leeches though. The road goes towards a peak and viewpoint from here. That was totally worth it btw.

Chelavara waterfalls is a nice waterfall in Coorg near Kabbe Betta. There is a small parking space (for 2-3 cars) here. Waterfall can be accessed by a small 5 minute hike. Bicolored frogs can be spotted here. Area can be bit dirty especially during rainy season, recommend good shoes while visiting the falls. Not recommended to enter the waterfalls even though it doesn't look dangerous, it seems many have lost lives here.

There is a small hike to reach the view point of the falls. However due to heavy monsoons, there is no entry to the falls, you can view the falls from far. The view is beautiful, with greenery all around

Abbey Falls is one of the star attractions in Coorg, known for its stunning silver cascade that plunges about 70 feet below. The journey to the falls takes you through picturesque coffee plantations, setting the stage for the breathtaking sight that awaits. Visitors can also explore other nearby attractions such as Mallalli Falls and Iruppu Falls. For animal enthusiasts, a visit to Dubare Elephant Camp is a must-do experience where trained elephants can be observed and even bathed by visitors.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Abbey Falls in Kodagu (Coorg) is one of those places that truly makes the long walk worth it! To reach the falls, you drive 🚗 through narrow winding roads surrounded by greenery and coffee plantations. There’s a parking area from where you continue on foot — a short but steep walk down with many stairs 🪜. The descent feels refreshing, with the sound of birds and the distant rush of water 💧. At the bottom, the sight of Abbey Falls is mesmerizing 🤩. The waterfall gushes powerfully, and even though there’s often a crowd, the mist and roar of water give you your own peaceful moment. Standing near the railing, feeling the cool spray, is instantly rejuvenating. The atmosphere is cool and calming 🌿, especially in monsoon season, making this a perfect nature escape. Wear comfortable shoes for the staircase climb — every step is worth that stunning view.
Anee K — Google review
I think, it is most the famous waterfall of Coorg. it is located about 8 km from North of Madikeri town in Coorg, is one of the most enchanting waterfalls in Karnataka. Surrounded by lush coffee and spice plantations, the falls offer a refreshing escape into nature’s serenity. The water cascades down from a height of around 70 feet, creating a mesmerizing misty view, especially during the monsoon. Visitors can reach the falls through a short walk along a scenic trail filled with the aroma of coffee and cardamom. The hanging bridge was closed while I visited the falls. it was offers the best view for photography and sightseeing. Visitor Information: Timings: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Entry Fee: Around ₹20 per person Best Time to Visit: July to October for lush greenery and full water flow Facilities: Small parking area, refreshment stalls near the entrance, and restrooms available Tips: Avoid visiting during heavy rains as the paths can get slippery. Early mornings are less crowded for peaceful exploration. Overall, Abbey Falls is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape amidst Coorg’s misty charm.
Devendra C — Google review
Abbey Falls is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Coorg, and after visiting, I can see why! The waterfall is located just a short drive (about 8–10 km) from Madikeri town, surrounded by lush coffee and spice plantations that make the journey as beautiful as the destination itself. Once you reach the parking area, there’s a short walk through a scenic trail lined with tall trees, pepper vines, and cardamom plants. You can hear the sound of gushing water as you get closer — a reminder that nature truly rules this place. The viewpoint offers a spectacular sight of the water cascading down from a height into a rocky gorge below. During the monsoon or right after it, the falls are at their most magnificent — powerful, misty, and surrounded by thick greenery. Though visitors are not allowed to get into the water for safety reasons, the suspension bridge facing the waterfall provides an excellent spot for photos and videos. The area is well maintained, and there are a few small snack stalls and local vendors near the entrance if you want to grab some refreshments. What makes Abbey Falls special is the blend of tranquility and raw power — you can spend time simply taking in the sound of the falls and the crisp, cool air that surrounds it. It’s a great stop if you’re exploring Coorg, especially for nature lovers and photographers. ⭐ Tips: The best time to visit is right after the monsoon (August–October) when the water flow is strong. Wear comfortable shoes, as the path involves a bit of walking and can get slippery. Try to visit early morning or later in the afternoon to avoid crowds.

This waterfall spot is a decent place to visit if you’re looking for a short and relaxing outdoor experience. The area offers ample parking space and walking paths, making it convenient for families and casual visitors. The mini waterfall is the main attraction, it’s small but quite scenic, especially for those who enjoy nature and photography. However, the place can get very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. There isn’t a proper viewing or waiting area, so everyone tends to stand in one spot to take photos, which can make it difficult to capture a good picture of the waterfall. The surroundings could also use better maintenance and repair work, as some parts look worn out and could be improved for safety and comfort. There are food stalls and small eateries right outside the location, offering snacks and refreshments, a nice touch after walking around. Overall, it’s a good spot for a quick visit or a short family outing, but don’t expect too much if you’re looking for a quiet or adventurous experience. Tips: Visit early in the morning or on weekdays to avoid crowds and get better photos.

Abbey Falls is one of those spots in Coorg that truly captures the essence of nature’s raw beauty. The waterfall is surrounded by dense coffee and spice plantations, and the walk down to the viewpoint is short but scenic. You can hear the roar of the water long before you see it, and when you finally do — it’s a breathtaking sight, especially during or just after the monsoon season. That said, the area around the falls is fenced off for safety, so you can’t get too close to the water. It’s more of a viewpoint experience than an immersive one. The place can get a bit crowded during weekends and holidays, so early morning visits are the best for a peaceful vibe. There’s a small parking area and some local stalls for snacks and coffee. Overall, Abbey Falls is worth a quick stop — not an all-day destination, but definitely a refreshing and photogenic spot to include in your Coorg itinerary.

A Breathtaking Natural Gem! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Abbi Waterfall is an absolute must-visit and truly deserves five stars! The location feels like a magical, hidden gem, easily accessible yet completely peaceful. The short walk through the surrounding greenery is refreshing and the air is clean and cool. When you reach the falls, the view is simply breathtaking—the water cascades down with impressive force into a beautiful, clear pool. It's a perfect spot for photography, nature observation, or simply relaxing by the water and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere. It’s well-maintained, clean, and provides a truly immersive escape from daily life. Highly recommend planning a visit to recharge and enjoy the stunning natural beauty!

The beautiful scenery and the charming, albeit small, waterfall make this a lovely spot. While the grills prevent close access, the main issue is the significant overcrowding. We suggest implementing improved organizational and management strategies to enhance the visitor experience.

Beautiful place, you feel very near to nature. Thanks and kudos to the authorities who are working tirelessly to keep the area clean of litter. Visitors are requested to use dustbins since the are is secluded and far from civilization.

Raja's Seat Garden is a must-visit attraction in Madikeri, Karnataka. It offers stunning views of sunrise and sunset, making it an enchanting spot for nature lovers. The garden was once frequented by the Coorg Rajas and their consorts to admire the beauty of nature. Visitors can also explore the nearby Gandhi Mantap and enjoy a toy train ride around the garden. Raja’s Seat is one of the most popular viewpoints in Coorg, and after visiting it for sunset, I completely understand why. The name literally means “Seat of the King,” and it’s said that the kings of Kodagu once came here to watch the sunrise and sunset. Today, it’s still one of the best spots to take in the breathtaking landscape of Coorg’s rolling hills and misty valleys. I went during the evening hours, just in time for sunset, and the view was absolutely mesmerizing. As the sun slowly dipped behind the Western Ghats, the sky turned shades of orange, pink, and purple, casting a magical glow over the entire valley. It was a peaceful yet lively moment — peaceful because of the beauty around, and lively because of the energy of the crowd, everyone trying to capture that perfect shot. There’s a small entry fee of ₹20, and the place is well-maintained with gardens, benches, and a small musical fountain area. The viewpoint can get very crowded during sunset, so it’s best to arrive at least 30–40 minutes early if you want a good spot to sit and enjoy. Parking is available nearby, and there are several stalls outside selling snacks, tea, and coffee — perfect for enjoying the view with something warm in hand. Overall, Raja’s Seat is a must-visit location in Coorg, especially for photographers and nature lovers. The sunset view here truly feels like the perfect ending to a day in this hill town — serene, colorful, and unforgettable. Best time to visit: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM (for sunset) Entry fee: ₹20 per person
Rishav S — Google review
I absolutely loved this place! It’s a beautiful spot with great views and totally worth the ₹20 entry ride. The atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing a perfect getaway to enjoy nature. There are mini food stalls at the entrance selling corn, ice cream, and other snacks, which adds to the fun. They even have ziplines, making it an exciting place for both kids and adults! The area has plenty of seating, so you can relax and take in the surroundings. I really liked the animal statues and the light and water show in the evenings it’s a wonderful visual treat! Unfortunately, it started raining during my visit, so we couldn’t stay long. I would suggest adding a shade or shelter near the light show area so visitors can still enjoy it during bad weather. There’s also a park for kids, where they can play and have a great time. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for families, couples, and nature lovers looking for a relaxing and fun outing.

Raja’s Seat Garden, Madikeri, Coorg: --- Raja’s Seat, perched atop Stuart Hill in Madikeri, Coorg, is a classic destination blending natural beauty, colonial history, and tranquil vistas. Often referred to as the “Seat of the King,” this spot was once the place where the Rajas of Kodagu came to relax, enjoy views of sunrise and sunset, and soak in the cool hill-air. The garden itself is beautifully maintained. Flower beds of seasonal blooms, neatly trimmed hedges, paved walkways, and decorative fountains create an environment that is both picturesque and soothing for a leisurely stroll. A pavilion with four pillars bridged by arches, known as Raja’s Seat proper, serves as the central viewpoint. One of the major draws is the view. Early morning mist clinging to the valleys, the rolling hills, and later the sunset sky ablaze with colour as the sun dips behind the Western Ghats—these moments are what make Raja’s Seat memorable. There are some additional attractions: a toy train ride around the garden (a hit with children) , musical fountain shows in the evening at scheduled times , and viewpoints at different levels allowing for slightly varied vistas. On the flip side, Raja’s Seat tends to get quite crowded, especially around sunset or on weekends. Parking can be a bit inconvenient. Also, if the weather is cloudy or mist thick, the views may be obscured. In terms of value, the entry fee is minimal (around INR 20), making the experience very affordable. Visiting during weekdays, or early morning/just before sunset, gives a more peaceful, immersive experience. --- Verdict: Raja’s Seat is a must-visit in Coorg. For anyone who enjoys nature, photography, or relaxed hill-town vibes, it delivers—magical views, well-kept gardens, and a touch of historical nostalgia. Just plan timing well to avoid the crowds.

Raja’s Seat Garden in Coorg is a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy nature. The garden is well-maintained with colorful flowers, green lawns, and a peaceful atmosphere. The main highlight is the viewpoint — it offers a stunning view of the hills and valleys, especially during sunrise or sunset. There’s also a musical fountain show in the evening, which is a nice touch for visitors. The place can get a bit crowded during weekends or holidays, but it’s definitely worth visiting for the scenic beauty and cool weather.

Raja’s Seat Garden in Coorg is not just a tourist spot but a place to slow down and connect with nature. Children play area available for below 5 years separate. Above 5 years (depends on weight) trampoline, sky walk, tire tower and other activity available at cost of 150 INR for one child. No need of any advance booking. Best time to visit around sunset.

The weather was good when I visited. It’s like 2 km trekking into the forest with a guide. Unfortunately couldn’t spot any animals except a wild squirrel. Chances of seeing animals are very rare I guess. Still the ambience is good. There is a tree house in the forest which is not at all safe, since the floor needs repair. People with kids better not to go since there were elephant attacks few months ago. Varieties of butterflies are one of the main attractions here.

Best for place for a good forest experience. There will be 2 option for you to explore the forest. First one you can drive through the forest with extra charges for your car and the second one by walk. I recommended for the walk it will gives you very special experience. This is the only one wild life sanctuary in kannur district more over you can visit agricultural area also. You have to pay for a guide also with out guide you are not allowed to enter the forest. Any way this will be great experience. Animal sightings are rare here but you will elephant sighting with more chances.

Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The lush greenery, serene atmosphere, and rich biodiversity make for a perfect escape. A must-visit for anyone seeking tranquility and a chance to spot some amazing wildlife. The staff is knowledgeable and the trails are well-maintained.

If you're a nature lover, this place is truly a hidden gem. The experience starts with a peaceful river at the entrance, setting the tone for the tranquil journey ahead. Within just 2 km, you'll find yourself immersed in the forest, with a knowledgeable guide who shares fascinating stories and history about the area. The fees are very reasonable, making it accessible to everyone. As you walk along the path, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature – various trees, the gentle flow of the river, and the soothing sounds of the forest. Though we didn’t spot any wild animals during our visit, the variety of birds and the serenity of the environment more than made up for it. There’s also evidence of wildlife, like elephant footprints, adding to the sense of adventure. The walk itself is easy and enjoyable, with no steep climbs. If you're in need of a break, the riverside offers a perfect spot to relax and even catch sight of beautiful butterflies fluttering around, creating a mesmerizing experience. The area is not crowded, and there’s ample parking outside the entrance, making it a peaceful retreat for those who love the outdoors. Overall, this place offers a calm, immersive experience that’s perfect for anyone looking to connect with nature.

It's a good place to visit, with an entry fee of ₹115. Additionally, you'll need to pay for a guide. You can walk up to 2 kilometers, but to explore further into the wild, you'll need to hire a travel jeep. The area is home to many animals, although sightings are mostly limited to birds, monkeys, and various types of trees.

A truly beautiful yet exhilarating experience! I'd heard about wildlife encounters here, and seeing broken fences and trees snapped by intelligent elephants (who seem to bypass electric fences now!) certainly kept us on our toes. Our guide, Rajani Chechi, was phenomenal, sharing all her knowledge of the forest. Trekking on foot made us incredibly alert, especially with sightings of animals, even tigers, reported on the trail. While I'd recommend taking a vehicle for a bit more safety, the trekking experience itself was absolutely incredible. Everyone should come here to feel that profound connection with Mother Forest.

The sanctuary is well-maintained, with clear trails and thoughtful facilities that enhance the visit. The guides provide valuable insights into the area's ecology and wildlife, making the exploration both educational and engaging. A visit to this sanctuary offers a peaceful retreat into the wild, where the natural world takes center stage, untouched and thriving.

Jungle Lodges and Resorts - Dubare is a picturesque retreat nestled amidst lush greenery near the Dubare Elephant Camp. The tranquil atmosphere makes it an ideal escape for nature lovers. Guests can enjoy close encounters with majestic elephants through activities like bathing, feeding, and even riding experiences. For adventure seekers, there's the option of river rafting on the Kaveri River. Families will find it to be a great place to bond while exploring the elephant camp and partaking in forest safaris.
Overall, our experience was wonderful. We wanted to get a cake to celebrate a family member's birthday, and when we spoke to the manager about our request, he took it upon himself to ensure that the cake was ready at the perfect time. Thanks to him and the rest of the staff, we were able to cut the cake right at midnight. Their level of service truly impressed us. They handled every request we had with enthusiasm and a genuine smile. A huge thank you to everyone at Jungle Lodges Dubare for making our stay so comfortable. I do have one suggestion: it would be helpful to inform guests that they need to cross the river to reach the lodge, and that a boat is available for this purpose. We weren't aware of this initially, which left us a bit confused at first. However, the staff on the other side were incredibly helpful and guided us well.

We had a wonderful experience at Dubare Jungle Lodges! The place is truly beautiful, surrounded by nature, and perfect for a family or friends outing. The food served was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. One of the highlights was bathing and feeding the elephants – such a unique and memorable experience! The staff deserve a special mention – they are extremely sweet, caring, and make you feel very comfortable. On the night of our stay, we were the only family there, and though we felt a bit scared at first, the staff were so friendly and reassuring that we soon felt completely at ease. Officer Ram was very helpful throughout our stay, and Nagaraj, who guided us on the safari and nature walk, was polite, patient and courteous Overall, we had the best day at Dubare Jungle Lodges and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in nature

Stayed at JLR Dubare on 12th October 2025 Open but safe parking. Rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Food options are limited but sufficient. The safari is good for beginners — great to enjoy the forest landscape and trees, but not ideal if your expectation is to spot tigers or elephants. The Dubare Elephant Camp is the real highlight — a wonderful experience to interact with elephants up close: bathing, feeding, and learning about them. Special thanks to Mr. Girish, an excellent naturalist, who ensures you have a meaningful and memorable time with the elephants. A must-visit for elephant lovers!

We had a wonderful stay at Jungle Lodges .. Dubare Elephant Camp. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained, offering a peaceful stay close to nature. A special mention to the naturalist who guided us during the elephant interaction session..he was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything so patiently. We truly enjoyed learning so much about these gentle giants. The food was the highlight of our stay. Every dish they served felt homely, fresh, and full of flavor. It’s rare to find such simple yet delicious food, and we genuinely looked forward to every meal. Yes, the stay is a little on the expensive side, but the experience, hospitality, and quality make it worth every penny. Overall, a memorable and refreshing getaway. Would definitely recommend it to nature lovers and families.

If you want an entire private jungle experience, head to JLR - Dubare. The resort is completely cut off from the rest of the crowd. To start with, you can park you vehicle on the banks of the Cauvery, and take a private boat to the resort. There you will be greeted by the helpful staff who will brief you about you stay. The itinerary includes 3 meals , tea/coffee, snacks apart from the nature walks and jungle safari. If you are luck you will spot some creatures during the safari. The staff is courteous and polite. During the rains, beware of leeches abd make sure to wear closed footwear. The resort's room are made with bamboo furniture and there is damp smell to it. If you dislike this, visit in the summers, but Cauvery might run dry then. The main attraction is the fully private elephant interaction experience. You can bathe and feed these gentle giants and click a million pictures with them. A must do, if you have kids.

An Oasis of Peace and Stunning Beauty - A Must-Visit! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Namdroling Monastery, popularly known as the Golden Temple, is truly a spiritual and architectural marvel that deserves every one of its five stars. Stepping onto the premises is like entering an entirely different world—a peaceful, serene oasis that immediately calms the mind and soul. The sheer scale and artistry of the main temple, the Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara, are breathtaking. The interior is dominated by the colossal, golden statues of the Buddha (Guru Rinpoche, Buddha Shakyamuni, and Buddha Amitayus), which stand several stories high. The intricate murals, vibrant colors, and meticulous detail covering the walls and ceiling are awe-inspiring and showcase the rich heritage of Tibetan Buddhism. It’s impossible not to feel a profound sense of reverence in their presence. Beyond the main shrine, the monastery complex is beautifully maintained, offering tranquil grounds where you can watch the resident monks go about their daily life. Waterfalls
Iruppu Waterfalls, located in Brahmagiri, Kurchi, Karnataka, is a stunning natural attraction that draws visitors with its captivating beauty. The trek to the falls offers an invigorating experience amidst lush greenery and breathtaking landscapes. The sound of the cascading water enhances the serene atmosphere, making it a perfect destination for nature enthusiasts and photographers. This picturesque waterfall holds cultural significance and is nestled in the scenic village of Kutta at the Karnataka-Kerala border.
Not that great in summer as water flow is quite low. However, it's in a thick forest, covered with large trees which makes it worth the hike (about 250 steps). You can go right below the waterfall to get a good soak during summer days. At the base, there are a couple of small time eateries that serve, juice, ice cream and some basic things. There is a clean enough paid toilet too.

It’s very beautiful waterfall. Almost a Km walk on cemented path and around 150-200 steps. Walk is very exciting and beautiful as it’s surrounded by dense Jungle. Can have your foot in water at foot of waterfall. Cold water will enthrall you. It’s almost 50-55 Km or 2 hr car drive from Coorg. Your driver may say you that it’s landslide or waterfall is closed etc., but don’t believe on him. It remains always open till 5 pm.

The water is wonderfully refreshing, and the views surrounding the falls are simply breathtaking – lush greenery as far as the eye can see. The trek to reach the falls is also quite enjoyable, a nice winding path that adds to the overall experience. Just a friendly heads-up though: keep an eye out for leeches along the trail. While they didn't detract too much from the beauty of the place, it's definitely something to be aware of. Overall, a fantastic spot to connect with nature!

It's a seasonal waterfall (our driver told us). It's beautiful waterfall !! You can even bath and enjoy there. There are changing rooms available at the fall. You can buy tickets at the entry gate ₹50 per person, but they made an extra ticket for ₹20 vehicle parking and ₹25 per person for iruppu waterfall.

Must visit place if you are a nature lover. Visit during the monsoon to witness its full glory.Had to walk almost 1 km to reach the falls. There are about 200 steps to climb, but it isn’t hard at all. The ticket costs ₹75, and it’s worth it if you visit during the rainy season. Shops near the parking area sell food at a high price, so ask the price before you order.

Iruppu falls is formed by a river lakshmana thirtha after falling from a height of 51.8 meters. The water is so clean. We have to be careful because the stones in the falls are very slippery. The water pressure is also very high right now. There are leeches at the falls so we should be careful. We can see beautiful blue flutter butterflies also in the forest. Please be cautious keeping in mind the water pressure and do not go wandering into the forest trail in brahmagiri. The water is super cold and it’s amazing to play. Be careful about slippery rocks, leeches and water pressure.

Sights & Landmarks
Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located at an altitude of 900 meters in north Wayanad, Kerala. It is dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu and features intricate architecture and carved pillars. The temple is well-maintained by the locals and holds great historical significance.
Visiting this ancient temple was a profound experience. You can truly feel the history in its 1000-year-old walls, making it a remarkable piece of heritage. What makes this place even more special is the magnificent, panoramic view of the hills directly behind it. The combination of ancient architecture and natural beauty is simply stunning and creates a very peaceful atmosphere. A crucial tip for anyone planning to visit: make sure to verify the temple's darshan timings ahead of time. They are quite specific, and it would be a shame to arrive when the doors are closed. Highly recommended for both spiritual seekers and lovers of history and nature.

We recently visited the Tirunelli Temple as a family, and it was a peaceful and memorable experience. The drive to the temple is beautiful, with well-maintained roads that pass through scenic forest areas — a treat for nature lovers. Though the temple is currently undergoing renovation, it doesn’t affect the visit or rituals. The surroundings remain calm and spiritual, and we had no trouble accessing the main temple. Overall, it's a serene place worth visiting, both for its spiritual significance and the scenic journey to get there.

Review: Sree Thirunelly Mahavishnu Temple, Wayanad Sree Thirunelly Mahavishnu Temple, located in the serene hills of Wayanad, is one of Kerala’s most sacred destinations for performing after-death rituals like Sradham and Bali Tharpanam. Revered alongside the Sree Parasurama Temple in Thiruvallam, this temple is deeply rooted in tradition, spirituality, and ancestral reverence. The main deity here is Lord Mahavishnu, facing east from the ancient sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum), which is square in shape and traditionally roofed with copper sheets. The temple structure is centuries old, now undergoing phased renovations from 2024 onwards to preserve its heritage. Sub-deities include Lord Ganapathi and Thevaramoorthi, whose sreekovils are also being renovated within the Nalambalam. A standout feature of this temple is the arrangement for ancestral rituals, performed throughout the year in the holy Papanasini River, which originates from the Brahmagiri hills and flows past the western side of the temple. The temple administration conducts mass Sradham in an organized manner, with experienced priests guiding every step with devotion and discipline. The temple also provides Annadanam (free meals) to devotees — an important part of the ritual offerings — with clean and timely breakfast/lunch served at the Devaswom dining hall. There are provisions to donate for Annadanam as well, enabling devotees to contribute to this noble cause. Travel & Accessibility: • Location: Around 30 km from Mananthavady, Wayanad District. • Transport: Buses (KSRTC & private) available from Mananthavady Bus Stand starting 6 AM. Travel time is approximately 50–60 minutes. • Nearest Railway Stations: Kozhikode and Vadakara, which connect to Mananthavady. Facilities: • Spacious vehicle parking • Clean washrooms • Local restaurants and hotels • Shops selling spiritual items and Wayanad village products Recommendations: If you’re planning to perform rituals for your ancestors, a visit to this temple is highly recommended. The temple is especially busy on Sundays, public holidays, and Amavasi (no-moon days), so plan your visit accordingly. Bali Tharpanam is conducted from early morning until the Uchapooja (around 12:15 PM), so arriving early is ideal. Other Attractions: • Ancient water channel system using rubble troughs • The sacred Panchatheertham pond fed by five holy water sources • Gundika Sivan cave temple • Tranquil Papanasini riverbank where rituals are performed Conclusion: Sree Thirunelly Mahavishnu Temple is not just a temple — it’s a timeless spiritual experience that blends natural beauty, divine energy, and cultural legacy. A must-visit destination for those seeking to connect with their roots and perform sacred duties to honor their ancestors.

Thirunelli Temple is located about 50 km from Wayanad, near the Kerala-Karnataka border. Nestled in a valley surrounded by lush forests, it has the majestic Brahmagiri Hills as its backdrop. A road trip to the temple through the hilly landscape can be truly exhilarating. Pilgrims visit Thirunelli Temple mainly to perform ancestral rites known as Bali Tharpanam. It is believed that performing these rituals here helps liberate the soul of the deceased from the earthly realm. Ample parking is available for visitors, although the temple is currently under renovation.

Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife and safari park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, Tholpetty, is a part of the Banasurasagar Project and offers a picturesque sight with the Banasura hills in the background. The sanctuary features various forest types including tropical moist dry deciduous and semi-evergreen forests, along with teak, eucalyptus, silver oak, and rosewood plantations covering about one third of the area.
A less visited wildlife sanctuary and safari compared to the nearby Nagarhole and Kabini safaris. The chances of sightings of big cats are less here owing to the dense foliage and relatively high rainfall and resulting greenery. As on April 2025, there are 15 jeeps in the morning and 15 jeeps in the evening on a first come first serve basis. No online booking option is there. Jeep safari is for about an hour and a half, costs 2100 for a jeep with 4 people (I am not sure if it's 3 or 4) with 350 Rs for every additional person. Duration is for about 1.5 hours. There is only one fixed route for both morning and evening safaris. I went in April and had sightings of elephants, gaurs, spotted deers and numerous birds. As per the jeep drivers, chances of big cat sightings are more during their mating season (Nov to Mar) here, unlike in other places (like Kabini in summer).
Deepak J — Google review
A good ride through the forest. But couldn't find a great verity of animals. It depends. You really get a great time with the nature and fresh air. Could spot the footprints of tiger. There is a change in the timings. The safari starts from 6 am to 10 am in the morning and 3 pm to 6 pm in the evening. 60 trips per day. 30 in the morning and 30 trips afternoon. So if you are planning to go on weekends and holidays be sure you reach at the earliest. And. The best time to go for is from November to jan. The climate also too good. Maximum number of people that can travel in a jeep is 7. It starts from 3-4. Costs 2100rs. One guide will accompany you to describe things and helps you to spot the animals.
Jain J — Google review
Better to buy tickets online a day before through keralaecotourism website. There are two slots, one morning 6 and evening at 3. Animal sighting is purely based on your luck but signs of animals can be found there, even tiger marks.
Athif A — Google review
The safari last 1.5 hours, costs rs2250 per jeep, so its affordable. its one single road to enter and exit from the other side, its not like Kabini or Nagarhole which branches out like a combing search safari. Its hard to spot animals coz of the thick forest. We spotted Elephants, Sambar deer, tortoises, giant squirrel
Bhaskar R — Google review
We participated in a Sunday evening safari during rainy season at Tholpetty Wildlife sanctuary. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but compared less favorably to the similar offering 20 km away at Nagarhole in Karnataka (see below for details), which we did the next day. For one jeep with 5 people (including a 5 year old child), we paid Rs. 5500, compared to Nagarhole, where the per-person charge was Rs. 1000/adult, 500/child. Pros: No wait. Was able to pay by foreign credit card without a problem. Note to foreign travelers: one passport is required for identification purposes). The tour lasted about two hours. We saw one elephant—a tusker!) deep in the woods and one peacock, but that’s it. Since this was rainy season, wildlife sightings are much rarer. Cons: The safari vehicle used was cramped and very inconducive both to comfort and wildlife viewing as the seats faced inward with very little head clearance and very little window surface area. See photo for comparison to the Nagarhole (Karnataka) safari vehicle. In terms of price, I might be wrong about this, but I believe that one has to rent the entire jeep at a cost of Rs. 5000, which may not be economical for smaller groups. Overall, if you are visiting the Tholpetty area and cannot make the short drive to the Karnataka side of the forest, then this excursion is recommended. I would strongly suggest trying to do so in the dry season to maximize chances of wildlife sightings. If only possible to visit during the rainy season, I would favor the Nagarhole side both for price (pay per head as opposed to per vehicle), vehicle design/comfort and wildlife viewing opportunities.

We haven't seen anything except deer inside the forest. Despite travelling 1.5 hrs through the forest with 4500 INR loss, nothing could be seen. And road was completely offroad (I mean not good for old members)

Good forest range. It's a buffer forest. Recommended to go in summer if you want to spot wildlife. If you just want to see the vegetation then monsoon or winter.

Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the northern part of Wayanad, is one of Kerala’s most captivating wildlife destinations. The sanctuary offers an authentic forest experience, where visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of untouched nature. The jeep safari, usually conducted early in the morning or late in the afternoon, is the best way to explore the park. As you move through the dense forests and open grasslands, there’s a high chance of spotting deer, elephants, gaurs, peacocks, and a wide variety of birds. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a leopard or the majestic Bengal tiger. The forest is peaceful, with a calmness that makes the experience refreshing and memorable. The guides are knowledgeable and ensure safety while sharing insightful details about the flora and fauna. The sanctuary is well maintained, and the natural landscape—misty air, towering trees, and serene lakes—adds to the charm. Tholpetty is ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to disconnect from city life. While sightings aren’t always guaranteed, the overall atmosphere makes the visit worthwhile. It’s a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility, offering a true taste of Kerala’s rich wildlife heritage.

This waterfall along the Kaveri river tumbles down over a rocky cliff near a Hindu temple.
Best time to visit this place is during Monsoon season as water flow rises. Beautiful place to spend time with devine touch since it is located besides the famous 'Sree Kodandarama' temple which dates back to thretha yuga.

Nice place for a short family outing. Tourism department has built a watch tower and view point. There is a children's play area as well. Premises needs some maintenance - weed clearing and cleaning. They have now blocked access to the river, which is a good thing. Kodandarama temple is also well maintained and worth a visit. Note to Visitors - don't throw trash here. Take it back to your homes and dispose it properly.

If you want to hear the roar of mother Kaveri , this is the right place for it! You can hear the waterfalls from a good distance. I would highly recommend coming here during peak monsoon to witness the Kaveri in her utmost beauty! Situated right above the banks is Shri Rama devasthana , just beside the road from where you will be seeing the falls. The temple is well maintained! There is a decent amount of parking available but not manned or paid. On the opposite side there is a GIL Hydel powerplant. During the weekend this place gets very high footfall so for a peaceful experience, weekdays would be the best option. Behind the temple is a Hanuman statue and a small park. Nobody is allowed to go towards the river due to heavy water flow. Roadside food stalls available. You get various Chaat items. I would highly recommend you to try out the Sugarcane juice there! Overall a very excellent location, just that the crowd is high(thanks to the weekend) and with it brings littering.

Falls was at full glory in the month of July. Thanks to the Rain gods. Please follow the instructions set up local authorities and it’s dangerous to approach the falls to get a closer view. It has a great view from the tower, where the falls can be seen at a vantage point. Place has sufficient free parking and area is maintenance is great. There is a fun park for children to play too, that’s a welcome move. There isn’t any decent eatery/hotel for lunch/snack. All you will find is the freshly made churmuri/ puffed rice / Mysore pak and other condiments by local sellers at a very nominal price. IMO, It’s best to take Holenarasipura route to reach this spot than Mysore route.

Chunchunkatte Falls is an absolute hidden gem nestled in the heart of Karnataka. Located about 55 km from Mysuru, this spot is perfect for a peaceful day trip. The waterfall is formed by the Cauvery River, cascading gracefully over rocky terrain. It’s especially breathtaking during the monsoon season when the water flow is at its peak. Surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil forest vibes, it feels like nature’s own symphony. The sound of the gushing water is incredibly soothing and rejuvenating. Unlike many popular waterfalls, Chunchunkatte is relatively less crowded. This makes it ideal for those looking to avoid the hustle and bustle. There’s also a small but beautiful temple right next to the falls. The temple, dedicated to Lord Kodandarama, adds a spiritual charm to the visit. The story of Lord Rama’s visit here, as per local legends, adds cultural depth. Photography lovers will find countless spots for nature and landscape shots. You can climb down closer to the rocks for better views, but do so cautiously. The area can get slippery, especially after rain—wear good footwear. There are very limited food options nearby, so it’s best to carry your own snacks. Drinking water and basic necessities should also be brought along. Parking is available, though not very organized or marked clearly. The road leading to the falls is narrow and patchy in places, but manageable. People are generally friendly and happy to guide tourists. Morning visits are highly recommended for the best light and serenity. If you’re lucky, you might spot some birds and butterflies around the area. The breeze here is refreshing and carries the scent of the nearby forest. There’s something incredibly meditative about sitting and watching the falls. It’s a great spot for family picnics, though supervision is important for kids. No entry ticket is required as of now, which is a plus. Cleanliness is decent, but visitors should help keep it that way. Plastic and littering are discouraged, and rightly so. This place is a wonderful reminder of nature’s unspoiled beauty. I would recommend carrying a camera, towel, and a small mat for sitting. If you’re spiritual, don’t miss attending a pooja at the temple if it’s happening. There’s a calm energy here that’s hard to put into words. Ideal for nature lovers, spiritual seekers, or anyone needing a break from city life. You won’t find loud tourists or commercial activities here—just peace. Do note: there are no changing rooms or major restrooms nearby. Best to plan your visit between July and January for peak flow. Even during summer, the falls don’t dry up completely, which is rare. It’s an offbeat destination that deserves more recognition. We spent about 2–3 hours here and it was truly time well spent. I’d gladly visit again—next time with a picnic basket and a book! Chunchunkatte Falls is truly a serene, soul-soothing spot worth exploring. ⸻ 📸: NIKON Z30 | follow me on instagram : @gibhili.jpg

The place is quite beautiful. The waterfall is pretty loud when you’re on the outside but as soon as you enter the temple the noise is just cancelled. Lots of monkeys around, they tend to snatch stuff from your hand.

Gommateshwara statue

Sights & Landmarks
Gommateshwara statue, located at the top of a hill, is a must-visit for a day trip from Mysore. It's advisable to arrive early to avoid the heat and crowds. The climb involves around 700 steps on Vindya giri and 200 steps on Chandra giri. At the top, you'll find the famous Jain temple and the impressive 57-foot-tall monolithic Gommateshwara statue.
Shravanabelagola is one of those places that stays in your memory long after the visit. I’ve been here twice. It was a wonderful experience both times. The climb to the top is a bit of a trek with over 600 steps, but it’s totally worth the effort. The steps are manageable if you take it slowly, and there are places to rest along the way. We went early in the morning, so the weather was pleasant and the view was clear. Once you reach the top, the huge statue of Lord Bahubali is truly awe-inspiring. It has a calming and peaceful presence, and the view of the town from the hilltop is absolutely amazing. The temple surroundings are well maintained and clean. There are no footwears allowed on the steps, so it’s good to carry socks, especially during summer. There are shops and eateries at the base if you want to refresh after the trek. Overall, it’s a beautiful mix of spirituality, history, and a bit of adventure. A must-visit place for everyone and anyone exploring Karnataka. I’d happily visit again.

This place has both historical and the spiritual significance. The climb is a bit steep but steps are in good shape and the railings really help for support. There is a dress code to be followed, shorts and sleeveless not allowed so carry a spare jacket, fortunately the administration gave us a shawl which was returned after coming back. The statue offers a sense of calm and photography is allowed but selfies and drones are not allowed. Must visit place for history lovers and architecture fanatics.

The Gommateshwara Bahubali statue in Shravanabelagola is one of the most iconic and spiritually significant monuments in India. Standing tall and majestic on the Vindhyagiri Hill, this massive monolithic statue is truly a wonder of art, devotion, and ancient craftsmanship. The moment you see it, you can’t help but feel a deep sense of peace and admiration for the spiritual heritage it represents. The statue of Lord Bahubali, carved out of a single stone, is an extraordinary example of ancient Indian architecture and Jain artistry. Its calm and serene expression beautifully symbolizes inner peace, renunciation, and enlightenment — the core principles of Jainism. The statue is about 58 feet tall and is believed to have been built over a thousand years ago, yet it still stands strong and graceful, untouched by time. Reaching the statue involves climbing several stone steps up the hill, which can be a bit tiring but is completely worth it. The view from the top is breathtaking, offering a panoramic sight of Shravanabelagola town and the surrounding landscape. Along the way, there are smaller shrines, carvings, and inscriptions that reflect the rich history and devotion of Jain culture. The area is clean and peaceful, maintained with great respect for its religious importance. During the Maha Mastakabhisheka festival, held once every 12 years, the statue is anointed with milk, saffron, and sandalwood — an incredible sight that attracts devotees and tourists from all over the world. The temple complex also provides facilities like drinking water, footwear stands, and resting areas for visitors. It’s best to visit early in the morning or late in the evening when the weather is cooler and the climb is easier. Overall, the Gommateshwara statue at Shravanabelagola is not just a monument — it’s a divine experience that connects you with peace, history, and spirituality. A must-visit destination for anyone traveling through Karnataka, especially for those interested in history, architecture, or spiritual exploration.

There is nothing like this place. It’s a historical spiritual temple that makes you forget everything and the statue just grabs your attention. If you are physically fit it will take you around 25 mins to climb the mountain but the view, energy and every step was so worth it. I hope I come here again and again. If you have some one who can’t climb the mountain you can ask for doli at main office. The dharshan is worth it.

Terraced gardens featuring colourful ornamentals, plus fountain shows & views of the adjacent dam.
Brindavan Garden is one of the most beautiful attractions in Mysuru. The lush greenery, sparkling fountains, and calm lake view make it a peaceful retreat. In the evening, the musical fountain show with colorful lights creates a truly magical atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to visit with family or friends, and every corner is picture-perfect. The serene vibe here makes you want to visit again and again. ✨🌷
BIKASH — Google review
Brindavan Garden in Mysore is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Karnataka and is well known for its beautiful layout, musical fountain, and scenic beauty. The garden is located near the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam, and the view of the dam from the garden is truly delightful, especially during sunset when the sky reflects on the water, creating a stunning scene. The garden itself is beautifully designed with symmetrical lawns, colorful flower beds, and fountains spread across the area. The musical fountain show in the evening is the main highlight and draws a large crowd. The lights, music, and water display create a magical atmosphere that everyone enjoys, especially families and children. However, the cleanliness and maintenance of the garden are not up to the mark. Some areas are littered with plastic bottles and food wrappers, and the pathways need better care. The benches and lights in certain sections also look old and could use renovation. The authorities should focus more on maintaining hygiene, cleanliness, and overall management to preserve the beauty of this historic place. Crowd management is another area that needs improvement, as the garden becomes very crowded during weekends and holidays, making it difficult to enjoy peacefully. Despite these issues, the garden still remains a pleasant place to visit for its ambiance and scenic beauty. Overall, Brindavan Garden is a lovely tourist spot with great potential, but it definitely needs better maintenance and cleanliness to give visitors a more enjoyable experience. With a little more care from the management, it can once again become one of the most beautiful and well-kept gardens in India.

A Magical Evening at Brindavan Gardens! (5/5 Stars) Brindavan Gardens is an absolute must-visit when you are in Mysore. It truly deserves every one of its five stars! The sheer scale and meticulous symmetry of the terraced gardens are breathtaking. Walking through the pathways, lined with vibrant flowers and perfectly manicured hedges, felt incredibly calming and refreshing. The way the gardens are laid out, leading down to the reservoir, creates stunning panoramic views, especially at sunset. However, the real spectacle begins after dark: the Musical Fountain Show. The way the water dances in rhythm with the music and colored lights is pure magic—a genuinely captivating experience that draws the crowds. It is well-organized and a perfect culmination to the visit. It's clear that the entire complex is beautifully maintained, making the entire visit a clean and enjoyable experience. Tip: Get there an hour before the fountain show starts to secure a good viewing spot and enjoy the peaceful sunset views over the Cauvery River. It's a perfect spot for families, couples, or anyone seeking natural beauty and delightful entertainment. Highly, highly recommended!

Where Lights, Water, and Music Dance Together – Brindavan Gardens, Mysuru Just below the mighty Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam, lies one of India’s most enchanting spots — the Brindavan Gardens. 🌿✨ It’s not just a garden; it’s an experience that blends nature, architecture, and art into a living melody. Built in the 1930s under the vision of Sir Mirza Ismail, the then Dewan of Mysore, these gardens were inspired by the Mughal-style terrace designs — symmetric lawns, colorful flowerbeds, water channels, and dancing fountains that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a royal dream. 👑🌺 Walking through Brindavan Gardens is pure magic — the gentle mist from the fountains, the reflection of the KRS Dam on the water, and the sound of laughter echoing through the soft evening air. As the sun sets, the entire place transforms — thousands of lights flicker on, and the musical fountain show begins, where water dances to the rhythm of music and colorful lights fill the night. 🎶💧 Couples, families, and travelers from all over India come here to witness that one unforgettable scene — water and light performing in harmony against the backdrop of the dam. The atmosphere feels festive yet peaceful, romantic yet serene. Pro Tip: Visit just before sunset to enjoy both the daylight beauty and the illuminated night view. Don’t miss the musical fountain show (6:30 PM – 7:30 PM) and the short boat ride — they’re worth every moment. Brindavan Gardens isn’t just about flowers and fountains — it’s about how art, water, and light can come together to create emotion. A timeless place where nature smiles, and Mysuru’s royal charm still blooms. 💫

Brindavan Garden is a lovely place to spend your evening, especially if you enjoy wide, open spaces. It can get crowded on weekends, but because the garden is quite spacious, it still feels comfortable to walk around and enjoy the views. There is an entry fee, and once inside, you can explore the beautifully maintained pathways and fountains. The main highlight is the musical fountain and light show, held between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM. The colorful lights and music make it a must-watch and the garden looks even more magical after sunset.

Nice place to chill out. Highly crowded place during weekends. Many people have spoiled the place by leaving plastic and glass bottles. Glass pieces will be found inside and outside the water, so please be careful while swimming. Don't walk in barefoot. There is a temple inside the water in the centre of the lake. Water will be present throughout the year. Best place for sunset view. Depth of this lake is not yet been know. Many people have died who tried to know the depth. Mysore Palace, a stunning Indo-Saracenic architectural marvel completed in 1912, boasts a grand durbar hall and hosts weekly illuminations. The palace is famous for the traditional Dasara procession, Jamboo Savari, featuring a decorated elephant carrying the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari during Vijaya Dashami. This centuries-old celebration was initiated by Raja Wodeyar in 1610 and has continued uninterrupted.

Palace is absolutely beautiful! It closes at 5:30 PM, so it’s better to visit inside during the day. But if you really want to see the best part, come back in the evening. Mysore Palace is truly a sight to behold! The grandeur, artwork, and royal architecture still make it one of the most stunning palaces in India. The interiors are beautifully preserved and showcase the rich heritage of the Wadiyar dynasty — every hall and corridor has a story to tell. However, the exterior does seem to be losing a bit of its charm over the years and could use better maintenance, as some areas appear slightly faded. But once you step inside, the craftsmanship and vibrant detailing easily make up for it. Overall, it’s a must-visit landmark in Mysore — majestic, historic, and perfect for photography and architecture lovers.

Mysore Palace is undoubtedly a magnificent sight and a must-see for its stunning architecture and royal history. However, it tends to get extremely crowded, especially on weekends, so visiting on weekdays is a better idea. The premises are fairly neat, but cleanliness could definitely be improved. The free audio guide centre was not functional during my visit — it should really be made operational to enhance the visitor experience.

Amazing food and such a good ambience.. Friendly front office staff gave us some good guidance on shopping.. The rooms are so well maintained.. I have given 4 stars because the lock of some rooms were not working despite repeated requests and that took a little of our time.. We were a group of 15 people and we really enjoyed their swimming pool and amazing breakfast with very good coffee.. located in the center of the city it is very easily accessible to a lot of other food joints.

I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. The property was very comfortable, spacious, and more than enough in every way. The staff were extremely well trained, attentive, and made the experience seamless. The swimming pool was spotless and comfortable, adding to the relaxing environment. The highlight for me was the larger-than-life breakfast – everything was delicious, with fresh pooris, dosas, and omelettes served hot at the table on request. One small detail that stood out was the service — when I requested a blanket, it arrived within a minute. God speed to such efficiency! If I had to make just one suggestion, it would be to have a clearer board/signage on the main road to make the hotel easier to locate. Beyond that, everything was perfect. Overall, this property offers great value, and I would love to stay again — at this hotel or any property from the same group.

This hotel delivered one of the worst services I have ever experienced, with Manager Mr. Ashok being the primary reason—his repeated false promises and deliberate misinformation make it clear this establishment is unfit to host any corporate event. His unprofessional behavior and dishonesty do not just reflect poor management but actively damage the hotel’s credibility. It is unacceptable for a managerial representative to mislead guests so blatantly, and I strongly warn other organizations against considering this venue for professional gatherings. The lack of accountability and basic hospitality standards is appalling.

Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, commonly known as Mysuru Zoo, is a well-established and popular zoo located near the palace in Mysore, India. It was established by Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur and is known for its cleanliness, conservation breeding of endangered species, and recreation of natural habitats for captive animals.
We had a wonderful experience visiting Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysore Zoo). It’s one of the best-maintained zoos in India clean, spacious, and beautifully organized. The variety of animals and birds is truly impressive, and the enclosures are thoughtfully designed to give them a natural environment. 🐅🦜 The staff do a great job of maintaining the place and ensuring visitor safety and cleanliness. It’s an educational and enjoyable experience for both kids and adults. A must-visit attraction in Mysore! 🌿✨

visited Mysuru Zoo and really enjoyed the experience. I got to see the tiger, hippo, leopard, cheetah and giraffe, which was the highlight of my visit. All the animals looked healthy and active. The zoo is clean, well maintained and has lots of trees, so walking around felt relaxing. There are benches and water points along the way, which was helpful. The information boards near the animals were also easy to understand. It's a great place to visit with family and kids. Overall, I had a very good time at Mysuru Zoo and would definitely recommend it. Note: eat well before you enter

An absolute wow! Probably the best zoo in the whole country. All the animals are given plenty of space to wander around. So many species of animals, birds... And they even got some rare species, like white peacock, bengal tiger, black swan, etc. The zoo is veryyyy big, so u can easily spend ur whole afternoon here. They have clean restrooms, places for seating everywhere, and that too in a reasonable ticketprice... They also apply stickers on the plastic items u carry inside, in order to ensure no spoiling. Overall, loved it ✨
Tejas W — Google review
Mysore zoo has always been great. It is one of the best zoo in the country. It is quite large with a lot of collection of different animals. Although zoo is not the right way to see animals where they are kept in captivity, Mysore zoo has kept the animals enclosures as close to their natural habitat environment as possible. The design of the animal enclosures are quite good and no compromise on the space. The animals also appear well fed and healthy. The zoo is almost always crowded. The zoo is quite large and the entire walk around the zoo is more than 2.6 km. But battery operated carts are available for the elderly and those in need. Plastic is not permitted inside the zoo. They collect ₹10 in case you are taking any plastic inside the zoo. This is refunded if you show the same when you come out of the zoo. There are lots of trash cans inside. Adequate toilets are also available inside. The full trip to the zoo could take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours depending on how fast one can walk. There is a lake with boating facility adjacent to the zoo. If one wishes, a combined ticket to the zoo and lake can be purchased.
ADISHANKAR — Google review
One of the well maintained and the biggest zoo in South India. All the animals and birds looks active, if you visit in the morning soon after the opening time. You can see lots of big trees and resting seats all over the zoo. Trees are properly maintained. Animals are fed on time. We happened to see some doctors checking up with the animal caretakers. The entire zoo holds around 3km of area, so you will be burning up your calories for sure. A must visit place in mysore, if you have kids. Also, you can book your tickets through scanning the QR code shown before the ticket counter. So, the payment can be done through UPI without any hassles. You need not stand in the que for tickets. This is very much appreciative.
Vibes S — Google review
Mysore Zoo is beautifully maintained and easily one of the best zoos in India. The variety of animals is impressive lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and many rare birds. The enclosures are spacious, and the greenery inside makes walking around very pleasant. You can choose how you want to explore: take the battery operated bogey ride if you want to cover the zoo quickly, or walk if you’d like to really see and experience everything at your own pace. Walking gives you the full feel of the place, but the ride is a good option if you’re short on time or with small kids. Weekdays or mornings are the best time to avoid heavy crowds. Overall, a must visit in Mysore for families, kids, or anyone who enjoys nature and wildlife.

Shree Chamundeshwari Devi Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Perched atop the Chamundi hills in Mysore, the Mysuru Shri Chamundeshwari Thayi Temple is a traditional Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Durga. It features statues of Nandi and Mahishasura, the demon, and offers breathtaking panoramic views. The temple is steeped in history and legend, with its rituals closely tied to the story of goddess Chamundeshwari's triumph over the buffalo-headed demon Mahishasura.
The Chamundeshwari Temple is one of the most sacred and iconic temples in Mysore, situated on the Chamundi Hills. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the presiding deity of Mysore. The atmosphere here is very peaceful and spiritual, with a beautiful view of the entire Mysore city from the hilltop. ✨ Highlights: The temple’s architecture is stunning with its tall, intricately carved gopuram. Well-maintained premises and a strong spiritual vibe. Panoramic view of Mysore Palace and the city lights from the hill. Free shoe-stand and drinking water facility available. ⏰ Best Time to Visit: Early morning or evening to avoid crowds and enjoy pleasant weather. 🚗 Accessibility: You can reach the temple by car, bus, or even by climbing the 1,000+ steps for a divine experience.

Chamundeshwari Hill Temple in Mysuru is a must-visit landmark for its striking seven-tiered gopuram, panoramic city views, and powerful spiritual vibe. The temple’s Dravidian architecture and ancient history, with the iconic Chamundi idol symbolizing the victory over Mahishasura, create a truly atmospheric setting. Clean premises, ample space, and easy access make the visit comfortable. The massive Nandi statue on the 700 step is a highlight not to miss alongwith mahabaleshwar and narayana temple just behind chamundi temple. You can sit on stairs behind Mahabaleshwar Temple to enjoy sunset
Mahesh K — Google review
The Shree Chamundeshwari Devi Temple, perched atop the scenic Chamundi Hills, is more than just a religious site—it is the very heart and soul of Mysuru, offering an unforgettable blend of spirituality, history, and natural beauty. My visit here was truly a highlight of exploring the city. The temple is a revered Shakti Peetha, deeply rooted in mythology as the place where Goddess Chamundeshwari (a fierce form of Shakti) slew the demon king Mahishasura, from whom the name 'Mysuru' is derived. Dating back to the 12th century, the temple’s current magnificence is largely due to the patronage of the Wodeyar royal family, who adopted the Goddess as their tutelary deity. The temple is a stellar example of Dravidian architecture, instantly recognizable by its towering, seven-tiered Gopuram (entrance tower), which is adorned with intricate carvings and topped with seven golden Kalashas. The silver-plated entrance doors and the peaceful atmosphere inside the Navaranga Hall truly convey a sense of ancient, royal devotion. The location itself, nearly 3,500 feet above sea level, is captivating. The drive up the hill is scenic, and the summit offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city of Mysuru. From the viewpoint, you can clearly see landmarks like the Mysore Palace and Karanji Lake. For those interested in a spiritual and physical challenge, the climb up the 1,008 steps is highly recommended, as is stopping to admire the colossal monolithic Nandi statue—Lord Shiva's mount—situated halfway up the hill. As the temple attracts devotees globally, it can get very crowded, especially on weekends and during the auspicious Ashada Shukravara (Fridays in Ashada month) and the spectacular Dasara festival. To ensure a smoother darshan, I highly recommend purchasing the Special Entry Ticket (₹100) or the VIP Darshan Ticket (₹300) to bypass the longer general queue. Public transport via KSRTC buses is frequent, and ample (paid) parking is available. Remember to follow the modest dress code and note that the hill area is strictly a No Plastic Zone.
Sreedevi B — Google review
Visited the Chamundeshwari Temple on Nov 1st during Rajyotsava— the darshan itself was truly divine and powerful, you can really feel the energy of the goddess. However, the overall experience was quite stressful. The temple gets extremely crowded, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Even with a VIP pass, we had to wait for hours in the queue. Entry tickets cost ₹30 for general darshan and ₹100 for special darshan, but everything is cash only. Crowd management was poor, with no separate lines for senior citizens, families with small kids, or differently-abled devotees. It was hard to stand for long, and the pushing made it uncomfortable. The staff were not very polite, and there was a lot of confusion inside. Parking was also badly managed, adding to the frustration.Govt really need to improve crowd management and cleanliness of Chamundi devi temple. On the positive side, the temple’s divine atmosphere, architecture, and the powerful darshan of Chamundeshwari Devi make it worth visiting at least once. The authorities just need to improve arrangements so devotees can experience peace along with devotion.

Chamundi Temple is a beautiful and divine place in Mysuru, built during the reign of the Mysore Wadiyar kings. It is believed that Goddess Chamundeshwari killed the demon Mahishasura here, which is how Mysuru got its name. The temple’s 1,008 stone steps and the massive Nandi statue carved from a single rock reflect its glorious history. They also serve delicious prasada at specific timings (as captured in the picture). This sacred temple should be well maintained for future generations, and it’s our duty to keep the surroundings clean and preserve its devotion and heritage. A must-visit! 🙏

Temple is good it is on the chamundi hill, here you can see devi chamundi statue inside the temple by puchasing the ticket (general ticket- 30 Rupess, VIP Datshan- 100 Rupess) per person. You can visit nandi statue which is nearby to the temple nearly 300 steps down. You can have a picture with most famous Mahisasura statue. Near the mahisasura statue only you can get the bus also to enter in the city again. Don't forget to take picture here from the hill top from where you can see the whoe Mysore city.
