Surkanda Devi Temple is a Hindu temple located on top of a steep hill, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Dedicated to Goddess Sati, it sits at an altitude of 3030m and can be reached by a 2km trek. Alternatively, visitors can take a ropeway for convenience. The temple is one of the 51 'Shaktipith' of Mata and hosts a popular annual festival.
Visiting Surkanda Devi Temple was a spiritually uplifting and scenic experience. The trek to the temple, surrounded by dense forests and misty mountains, felt both adventurous and serene. From the top, the panoramic views of the Himalayas were simply breathtaking. The temple’s peaceful aura and connection to local legends add a deeper spiritual charm. It’s a perfect blend of devotion, nature, and tranquility.

Visiting Surkanda Devi Temple was one of the highlights of my trip to Kanatal! To reach the temple, you’ll need to climb a short stretch of steps, and then you have two options: either take the ropeway (₹225 per person) for a quick ride up, or continue the scenic trek to the top. A quick tip: beware of the mischievous monkeys along the way, they’ve absolutely mastered the art of snatching snacks and bags, so keep your belongings close! 🐒 The temple itself is beautifully maintained, clean, organized, and peaceful. The moment you reach the top, you’re rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayas that makes every step worth it. You can easily spend hours here soaking in the serenity, admiring the architecture, and just being present in the moment. If you’re anywhere in the Tehri region of Uttarakhand, Surkanda Devi Temple is an absolute must-visit, a perfect blend of spirituality, nature, and scenic beauty. 🌄🙏

One of the Shaktipeeth where Maa Sati's head was said to be fallen. The temple is on a hill with amazing views from all sides. The trek not too long and properly paved can be steep in some places so recommended to take frequent breaks if your not used to the trekking. There is a option for cable cart but it was not operation during the time we visited (Mid Aug). At the top the air feels fresh and very calm.

I went for the evening aarti at Surkanda Devi temple and honestly it was such a peaceful experience. The whole place had this divine energy, and with the cool breeze blowing. The view from the top was just breathtaking – mountains covered in mist and the sky slowly turning golden. When the bells started ringing and the aarti began, it gave me goosebumps. Sitting there, with nature all around and the sound of prayers, it was truly mast and unforgettable

Surkanda Devi Temple, located near Dhanaulti in Uttarakhand, is a revered Hindu shrine and a must-visit for both pilgrims and nature enthusiasts. Key Points: Spiritual Significance: It's one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where, according to mythology, the head of Goddess Sati fell after her self-immolation. The Trek: The temple is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,757 meters and requires a 2-3 km moderate trek from Kaddukhal village. The path is well-maintained and offers scenic views. Ropeway: A ropeway has been built to provide easy access for those who cannot or prefer not to trek. Location & Views: The temple is nestled amidst dense forests of deodar, rhododendron, and oak, providing stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks, including Chaukhamba and Nanda Devi. Best Time to Visit: The ideal time is during the summer (April to June) and autumn (September to November) for pleasant weather and clear views. Winters (December to March) bring snowfall, making the trek challenging but offering a unique, snow-covered landscape. Nearby Attractions: The temple is a short distance from popular hill stations like Dhanaulti, Kanatal, and Mussoorie, making it a great day trip. You can also explore places like Tehri Dam and various adventure activities in the region.

This is my once in a lifetime experience getting to the feet of Mata Surkanda Devi at 10000 ft above. There are two ways to reach the Temple. Trekking and Ropeway. We took ropeway as we were with Senior Citizens. Also the trekking is difficult. Taking Ropeway is also time saving. It's so peaceful above and literally above the clouds. Amazing experience.

Because as I look straight to the beautiful view I see the mountain on which this beautiful and famous temple situated. I often visit this place a year or 2 from my childhood. Foreigners and many other states people frequently visit this place because it's nearest to mussoorie the overrated place of uttarakhand and nearest to my beautiful town chamma or chamba tehri garhwal uttarakhand.

This temple is so beautiful; I just love going there. It has such a calming vibe, and sitting to meditate feels incredibly peaceful. Plus, the view from the temple's location is mesmerizing—you can even get a glimpse of the Himalayas! It's also one of the Shaktipeeths, and for those who can't walk, there's an affordable ropeway. Ram Jhula is a stunning bridge that spans the Ganges River, offering a picturesque and spiritual experience. While it can be crowded, the journey to the bridge is filled with interesting sights such as monkeys and wandering cows. Walking is recommended over renting a vehicle, allowing you to enjoy shopping, snacks, and tea along the way. From Ram Jhula Ghat, you can witness the divine Ganga Aarti in a less crowded setting than at Paramathma Ghat.
Ram jhula, in Rishikesh one the most beautiful place, if anyone wants to see the beauty and glimps of this place do come at night after 8.30 or 9 pm cuz here is too rush in evening but at night is completely free from rush, and there no any things which scare for female or girls special police are here are vigilance and active no such miscreants are there. Soothing environment at night at ghats.
Padmanabh D — Google review
Ram Jhula is one of the most visited places in Rishikesh. It's the way to Famous Ashrams like Parmarth Niketan, Geeta Bhawan, Beatles Ashram. Also you can go to taxi stand for Neelkanth Mahadev and also paidal marg for the same. It has beautiful ghats for Maa Ganga Snan. Very scenic in evening and night. Also breeze in the night on this bridge is very calm and serene. Best month to visit Rishikesh and Ram Jhula is October and November. Please do not litter on these Holy places. Be kind to all. Highly Recommended. Thanks

I went ther recently with my friends to enjoy the weekend. We booked our hotel near ramjhula to enjoy the ganga view, also rafting and more adventure activities. As we know about ramjhula Ram Jhula is a long hanging bridge in Rishikesh built over the holy Ganga River. It connects two sides of the town and is used by people walking, cycling, and visiting temples. When you stand on the bridge, you can see the clear water, green mountains, and colorful boats. The wind feels cool and fresh. Many tourists come here every day to enjoy the calm environment. In the evening, the lights around the bridge make it look even more beautiful and peaceful. It is a famous place to visit.
Kanishk R — Google review
The most bustling place in Rishikesh where you need to visit once you visit Rishikesh. It's the suspension bridge and most of the famous ashrams are situated on either side of the Ganges once you cross the bridge. You can enjoy boating in the Ganges also, which is near this suspension bridge. There are plenty of eateries nearby where you can have lunch or quick bites. Visit with adequate amount of time for optimum enjoyment.
Shinjan P — Google review
Ram Jhula in Rishikesh is truly one of the most beautiful and iconic places in the city. While it’s charming at any time of day, if you really want to experience its true beauty and peaceful vibe, visit after 8:30 or 9:00 PM. During the evening, the area can get quite crowded with pilgrims and tourists, but at night, the rush fades away, and you can enjoy the calm, soothing atmosphere by the Ganga River and the ghats. The illuminated bridge reflecting on the water looks absolutely magical — it’s a sight to remember. 🌙 The area feels completely safe for women and families, as police patrols are active and vigilant even late at night. There are no miscreants or disturbances, making it a peaceful place to stroll, sit by the river, or simply absorb the serene energy of Rishikesh. If you love quiet moments, twinkling lights, and the sound of flowing water, Ram Jhula at night will surely touch your heart. 💛
Yaduveer S — Google review
Since the closure of Laxman Jhulla to vehicular traffic, this iconic suspension bridge has become a bustling thoroughfare for both pedestrians and bikers. At any given time, the bridge is adorned with a lively crowd, creating an energetic atmosphere. The view from the bridge, overlooking the majestic Ganga River and the captivating sight of rafting activities below, adds to its charm. Approaching the Ramjhulla parking side, visitors are treated to a picturesque view of the Ganges. Toward the end of the bridge, on the left-hand side, lies Goa Beach, offering a serene escape along the riverbank. Crossing the Jhulla and continuing on the left, one encounters the road leading to Laxman Jhulla. On the right side, the area is adorned with renowned tourist destinations, predominantly ashrams such as Parmarth Niketan, Swargashram, and Sivanand. Notably, the famous Chotiwala restaurants are also situated on this side, providing a taste of local cuisine. The allure of Ram Jhulla is further heightened during the evening when the entire structure is illuminated, casting a warm glow across the surroundings. This nightly transformation enhances the bridge's beauty, creating a captivating ambiance that draws visitors to witness the enchanting play of lights against the backdrop of the flowing Ganga River. Ram Jhulla stands not only as a functional crossing but also as a symbol of vibrancy and charm in the heart of Rishikesh. Significance & Function Spiritual Hub: Connects important spiritual centers like Sivananda Ashram and Swargashram, making it a vital crossing point for devotees. Tourist Attraction: A major landmark that provides panoramic views of the Ganges, the Himalayan foothills, and the surrounding temples. Access to Ashrams: Provides easy access to ashrams and other religious sites situated along its banks. What to Do There Walk or Cycle: Cross the bridge on foot or bicycle to enjoy the views and the serene atmosphere. Explore Markets: Browse the small markets at both ends of the bridge, offering souvenirs, local handicrafts, and religious items. Visit Ashrams: Discover the spiritual essence of Rishikesh by visiting the temples and ashrams that line the bridge. Photography: Capture the picturesque scenery of the river, mountains, and the bridge itself.

Nice experience, Devine place, One can visit on weekends. When you will just cross Ram Jhula, turn left side (instead of right)100 meter, a beautiful view is waiting for you.you will find benches on the bank of Ganga or you go down on sand beach. Opposite to benches economic and good guest houses are available @₹700-₹3500. If you want go to some crowded place or market then turn right from Ram Jhula. There you may participate in ganga aarti, shoping, fooding, tea, coffee, etc. Yes, walking around is nice, when you reach Laxman jhula must enjoy Honey-ginger lemon tea.

Hanging bridge joints left bank of Ganga River to Right bank where Swargashram is situated. In Rishikesh it's about 500 metres long and 10 feet width. Two wheelers are strictly prohibited on this way.At the Rishikesh, when we reached at Ram Jhula,a group of 6-7 persons comes from Canada n leaded by Sandra, introduced by her to all members and talk 👄 😀 😄 😉 about their good and bitter experience in Haridwar and Rishikesh. The Beatles Ashram

Ashram
Sights & Landmarks
The Beatles Ashram, located about 3 km from Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh, was once a quiet place for yoga and meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. However, it gained global attention in 1968 when The Beatles visited to learn about Transcendental Meditation. Today, the ashram features Beatles art and graffiti. The area is a mystical campus with stunning architecture nestled in a forested area near the Ganges.
A calm and scenic place surrounded by nature, with old meditation caves and creative art on the walls. It has a peaceful vibe and is great for photography and quiet walks. But the area needs more care and maintenance. Many parts are broken, there’s no proper seating, and paths are not well-kept. Still, they charge an entry fee of ₹200, which feels too high for the current condition. The government should take better care of this historic place. Worth visiting once for the vibe and views, but it could be much better.
Bhupender R — Google review
★★★★★ / 🌿 “A Timeless Melody of Peace, Art & Nature in Rishikesh!” 🌿 The Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutiya) in Rishikesh is not just a historic spot — it’s a soulful retreat that beautifully blends nature, art, and the lingering legacy of music. Once home to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram, where The Beatles stayed in 1968 and composed many of their iconic songs, this place still echoes with creativity and serenity. Nestled on the banks of the Ganga and embraced by the Rajaji Tiger Reserve, the ashram has an otherworldly calm. Walking through its abandoned meditation huts, crumbling stone pathways, and moss-covered walls feels like stepping into a peaceful time capsule. The silence here is profound — you hear the wind in the trees, birdsong, and your own footsteps — offering a rare space for reflection and stillness. ⸻ 🌟 Highlights of the Experience • Historic Legacy: Knowing that The Beatles, along with other artists and seekers, meditated and created music here adds a magical energy to the visit. Fans of the band will feel the nostalgia instantly. • Street-Art & Graffiti: The ashram walls are covered with vibrant murals and Beatles-inspired artwork by international artists. Every corner feels like a living gallery that celebrates music and peace. • Meditation Huts (Chaurasi Kutiya): These dome-shaped stone huts are scattered throughout the ashram. Exploring them is fascinating — they feel raw yet inviting, and many still have an aura of tranquility. • Nature & Scenery: The ashram is surrounded by lush forests and offers glimpses of the Ganges. The air feels fresh, and the natural silence makes it a rejuvenating experience. • Peaceful Vibe: Despite being a popular tourist site, the ashram retains its calm energy. It’s a wonderful place for meditation, photography, or simply sitting under a tree and soaking in the moment. ⸻ 📝 Practical Details • Entry: There’s a nominal entry fee (for both Indian and international visitors) which is worth it for the well-maintained paths and restored sections. • Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late afternoon — the light is softer, the air is cooler, and it’s less crowded. • Duration: Ideally set aside 1.5 to 2 hours to walk, explore, and sit quietly. • Photography: The combination of ruins, murals, forest, and domes makes this a paradise for photographers. • Walkability: Expect a lot of walking inside; wear comfortable shoes as paths can be uneven. • Safety: The site feels safe and secure; there’s a forest vibe but nothing to worry about during visiting hours. ⸻ 💭 Final Thoughts The Beatles Ashram is more than a tourist destination — it’s a soulful pause in the rush of travel. Whether you come for its history, its art, or its quiet connection to nature, you leave feeling a little lighter and more inspired. ⭐ Overall: A must-visit in Rishikesh — perfect for music lovers, history buffs, meditators, artists, or anyone seeking peace amidst nature’s charm. ✨ Review by @the_solo_wanderer_ For more soulful journeys and untold stories, search me on Instagram 🌿📸

Recommended visit time needed approx 2hrs. Costs for foreigners is 1200 rupi. Located in a white corner of the mountain. Very interesting to see where the Beatles spent some time connecting to there inner self escaping all the worldly noise. You just walk around and feel the peace. Birds chirping. You see the bungalow where the Beatles stayed. You see a small gallery with a bunch of photos of the Beatles in the ashram. There is a Small canteen where you can buy drinks and lunch.
Moshe M — Google review
I finally visited this place on my third trip to Rishikesh. I had high expectations, but I left a bit disappointed. The road leading to the ashram is quite tricky and feels more like off-roading. There are no proper guidelines or directions about where to go first—you just end up wandering around the ashram. The place is huge, and the meditation domes made from river stones are quite interesting. Apart from that, there’s a small gallery near the canteen displaying photos from when the Beatles actually visited the ashram. Overall, I feel the ₹200 entry fee isn’t justified. With better maintenance and proper guidance, the experience would definitely be worth it.

The Beatles Ashram, Rishikesh A peaceful nature trail ideal for meditation and reconnecting with yourself. The walk through the woods is scenic and soothing, though the old huts (“kutiyas”) are now poorly maintained. The ticket feels slightly overpriced, but the calm aura and greenery make up for it. Don’t miss the canteen’s pahadi wali Maggi! 🍃 Wear comfy shoes and watch out for monkeys — a lovely spot for a long, mindful walk in nature.

The ruins of an old ashram in Rishikesh. You can spent around 2 hours to see it around. The stone caves for medition built of the hand picked pebbles from Ganga river is the highlight here. It's not well maintained though. It's part of s tiger reserve now.

Beautiful place. You will get some amazing pictures in your gallery after the visit. Prefer the winter season to enjoy it more.little huts looks beautiful and view of ganga river is good. Full network area , washroom at entry point and drinking water too. Carry your aadhar card for entry .

It's actually the chauras kutiya near Janki Jhula , and timings are till 3pm so one should know this everywhere it's mentioned incorrect, which wasted our time. Also there is a very- damn- best - beautiful view point at the end of the trail. You will reach there just go till the last. Bring physical ids, adhaar and student id.

Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh is a significant spiritual site located on the banks of the Ganges River. It is considered the biggest and busiest ghat along the river, holding immense religious importance for Hindus. The evening Aarti, known as Maha Aarti, is a pure and sacred ritual that attracts many devotees. This ghat is renowned for its serene ambiance during early morning hours when visitors can witness the tranquil beauty of sunrise and experience a profound sense of peace.
Must visit place when you are travelling to Rushikesh. The aarti at Triveni ghat is a devotional experience. Reach early to get a good spot for attending the aarti. In winter months aarti starts around 6pm. After the aarti there is Bhajan where one can enjoy the spiritual connection.

Management themselves provide Aarti thalis to many people and they shares thalis with each other so each and everyone can enjoy and participate at Aarti. And story doesn't ends here, Bhajan starts after Aarti and surely you will get goosebumps if you have vitnessed the joy. In short don't miss it if you are visiting Haridwar and Rishikesh.

Truly one of the best spiritual experiences of my life. Felt divine and calm attending the Ganga Aarti here. Too much crowded and if you need good places to sit, consider reaching there early. After Ganga Aarti you can sit at the ghats enjoying the peace and serenity.

Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh is a beautiful and peaceful place to experience the true spirit of the Ganga. The atmosphere here is calm in the mornings and truly divine during the evening Ganga Aarti. Watching the lamps floating on the river with the sound of chants feels magical. The area is well-maintained, and you can sit by the river to relax or take a holy dip. It’s one of those places where you feel peace and positivity all around. A must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Rishikesh.

Triveni Ghat is a truly spiritual and beautiful destination in Rishikesh. The evening Ganga Aarti is mesmerizing, with soulful chants and vibrant rituals that create an uplifting atmosphere. Sitting by the banks of the Ganges surrounded by mountains, you feel tremendous peace and positive energy. It can get crowded during the Aarti, so arrive early to get a good spot. The whole experience — from the holy dip in the river to the aarti and the nearby temples — makes Triveni Ghat a must-visit for anyone seeking serenity and divine vibes in Rishikesh.

Its a amazing experience to see ganga aarti there. Ghat is also good and clean. Maybe ut could be little bit crowded depending on any special occasion. But still it look peaceful.
Prashant K — Google review
Well managed. Entry is started at 5 pm for the Arti at 6 pm. Orderly queue is started at 5. People pay to offer 'special' puja, and they're allowed to/ are conducted fpr puja before the Aarti begins. It's well choreographed. Quite a spectacle.
Ajay S — Google review
A very beautiful place to be if you are spiritual. Usually a must visit when the Ganga Aarti happens. Usually during winters the Aarti happens at 5.30pm however it's important that you reach there 20 minutes earlier to get the front seats.

Eco Park, located in Dhanaulti, is a serene and beautiful national park surrounded by deodar and oak trees. Despite lacking some basic infrastructure like good toilets and seating areas, visitors can enjoy hiking trails and comfortable swings with stunning views. The park is divided into two forests - Amber and Dhara, making it an ideal destination for families with a dedicated playground for kids.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Must do!! Best if you carry water bottle (please get it back too and don’t throw trash there). Keep walking, talk to your loved ones. Do a research on the kinds of birds you can see here and download relevant apps (merilyn is what I use) you can see beautiful birds, best views of the snow capped mountains, flowers in spring (march-april). Carry tea or simple snacks and plan a picnic here. Best if you go during afternoon/evening. Mostly the place is a simple walk, but the view is great. And if you enjoy being in the jungle then this is perfect.
Urvi S — Google review
It is a serene place to relax and have a great time with your family and friends. There are small and not so difficult trails you can walk to enjoy the artistic view of nature around. The pine trees and flowers in the park are really beautiful. Please do not pluck flowers and do not litter. 🙏 It requires at least 1 hour to see around but you can spend more time. The ticket is priced at Rs 50 for adults. It has these amenities.. Toilets Dustbins Benches to sit and relax Swing Sheds Some paid adventure activities for kids in a small area. Parking is outside in the open area at a safe distance from the main road. There are eateries outside where you can get plenty of food options to choose from. Enjoy the weather and scenery.

50₹ ticket for one adult. 25₹ ticket for one child below 9 year. It is a one time park location if you are coming here first time. There are some little activities here which has separate ticket. Green place filled with trees. A Hidden Gem for Nature Lovers! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful — this place is truly a must-visit for anyone who enjoys nature, peace, and panoramic views. I highly recommend bringing a water bottle with you — and please, take it back with you. Let’s help keep this beautiful spot clean and trash-free for everyone to enjoy. The walk is simple and serene, perfect for a relaxing stroll with your loved ones. It’s a great place to talk, unwind, and reconnect with nature. If you’re into birdwatching, do a little research beforehand! You can spot a variety of birds here, and I personally use the Merlin app for identification — it makes the experience even more rewarding. In spring (March-April), the flowers are in full bloom, making the area look absolutely magical. The views of the snow-capped mountains are breathtaking and offer amazing photo opportunities. I suggest packing some tea or light snacks and turning your visit into a peaceful picnic. Afternoon or early evening is the best time to visit for both good lighting and cooler weather. If you enjoy being in a forest-like setting, you will absolutely love this place. Highly recommended for a short escape into nature!

shantikun Retreat Experience 🌿✨ In June, we visited Shantikun with our family and stayed for around 4 days. The environment was incredibly peaceful and serene, offering us a much-needed break from the hustle of daily life. 🌸 The people there were warm, kind, and spoke with such love and respect—it truly felt like a spiritual home. During our stay, we participated in Sharamdaan (voluntary service), took part in a sacred Hawan (fire ritual) 🔥, and even received Diksha (spiritual initiation), which made the experience deeply meaningful and memorable. 🙏 Overall, it was a soul-refreshing journey filled with positivity and tranquility. 🌞

It was such a great feeling of peace and happiness of mind, in the premises of Shantikunj. Full of greeneries and cleanliness inside the campus. A must visit for anyone visiting Haridwar. Only the entry process needs to be modernized. Digitized entry will make the entry process faster and smoother.

One of the worst places I have visited in my life, Its name should be Ashanti kunj. Reason - 1.Mannerless guards and other people. 2. Unheignic rooms or you can say halls. 3. Poor planning, you have to borrow Blanket and mattress from a central place and carry to your hall. 4. You can't buy water bottle from 9 PM itself ,u need to fill from water coolers. 5. No reason to stay here except free of cost , technically u should leave ur respect aside if u want to stay here. This place is not for young person who went to enjoy Haridwar, its for those who are only spiritual person. There buildings are clean but rooms were very unheignic and filled with manner less people. Kindly don't take your kids to this worst place, stay safe and take a good Hotel or refer some good and reputed Ashram if you want to live in ashram only.
Manish K — Google review
Shantikunj Haridwar is more than just an ashram; it's a sanctuary of peace, spirituality, and selfless service that leaves a lasting positive impression. From the moment you step onto its well-maintained grounds, a palpable sense of tranquility washes over you, a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The serene atmosphere, coupled with the gentle chanting and the fragrance of incense, creates an environment conducive to introspection and inner peace. The teachings and philosophy of Gayatri Pariwar, which are at the heart of Shantikunj, resonate deeply with their emphasis on holistic well-being, ethical living, and selfless service. Participating in the daily yagnas is a powerful and uplifting experience, fostering a sense of community and spiritual connection. The volunteers, dedicated to their seva (selfless service), embody the spirit of the ashram, always ready with a helping hand and a warm smile. Beyond the spiritual aspects, Shantikunj also offers practical avenues for personal growth and well-being. The various workshops and training programs on topics like stress management, yoga, and meditation are invaluable. The well-organized and clean accommodation, along with the simple yet nourishing food, further contribute to a comfortable and conducive stay. What truly sets Shantikunj apart is its unwavering commitment to social welfare and the upliftment of society through initiatives in education, health, and environmental conservation. Witnessing this dedication firsthand is both inspiring and humbling. A visit to Shantikunj is not just a retreat; it's an enriching experience that rejuvenates the mind, body, and soul, leaving you with a renewed sense of purpose and positivity. It's a place where you can truly connect with yourself and the divine.

Perched atop the Neel Parvat in the Shivalik Hills, Shri Maa Chandi Devi Temple is a historic Hindu pilgrimage site with a rich legacy. Built in 1929, it is believed to house an ancient idol of the goddess dating back to the 8th century. The temple attracts devotees year-round and is known as a Siddha Peetha, where worshippers seek fulfillment of their desires.
Chandi devi temple located at hilltop of Neel Parvat was memorable experience. We went by ropeway to enjoy bird's eye view of Haridwar, Ganda river and surrounding hills. Early Morning Trekking is also good option to enjoy panaramic view. You can either buy combo of Mansa devi and chandi devi temple the only thing is you should be able to reach both temples on the same day if there's no long queues then it's easy. When we went in 2022 combo charges 324 rs per person while only chandi devi temple ticket charges 195 rs per person. Temple is clean and well maintained. Temple premises contains idols of lord kali ma, sankat mochan hanuman, Maa Annapurna, Santoshi Maa etc. This siddhpeeth is heavy crowded on festive like Navratri and holiday season. There are waiting halls at each levels and quite nice dining cafe inside and children game area to spend sometime. You'll find beautiful dress photography studies at all places in haridwar rishikesh masoorie.

We visited Maa Chandi Devi Temple and had a wonderful spiritual and scenic experience. We went up using the ropeway, which was truly enjoyable — the short 5-minute ride offered beautiful views of the mountains and the surrounding greenery. It felt peaceful and refreshing. After reaching the top, we took the blessings of Maa Chandi Devi, and also visited the nearby Hanuman, Anjana Mata, and Santoshi Mata temples. The place has a divine atmosphere, and the entire visit felt serene and fulfilling. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for both spiritual seekers and nature lovers. The combination of the ropeway ride and the temple’s peaceful ambiance makes it a memorable experience.

Ma Chandi Devi Mandir, located on the beautiful Neel Parvat hill in Haridwar, is one of the most sacred and enchanting temples in Uttarakhand. Dedicated to Goddess Chandi Devi, this temple is not only a significant spiritual destination but also a place that fills the heart with peace and devotion. According to mythology, the temple marks the site where Goddess Chandi defeated the demons Chanda and Munda, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The journey to the temple itself is memorable. Devotees can either trek up the hill or take the ropeway (Udan Khatola), which is an experience in itself. The ropeway offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Ganga River, the lush green forests, and the entire city of Haridwar. As you ascend, the cool breeze and scenic beauty make the ride truly mesmerizing. It feels as if you’re floating above nature’s divine canvas. The temple premises are clean, well-maintained, and radiate positive energy. The aura of the Goddess, combined with the chants of devotees, creates a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Visiting Ma Chandi Devi Mandir is not just a religious trip—it’s a soulful experience that connects you with faith, nature, and inner peace. A must-visit place for anyone coming to Haridwar.

The ropeway to Chandi Devi Temple offers stunning aerial views of Haridwar, the Ganga river, and surrounding hills. The ride is smooth, safe, and takes just a few minutes to reach the top. A great experience for all age groups and totally worth it for the scenic views alone.
Joyita S — Google review
The temple is peaceful and worth visiting, but the overall management is poor. Ropeway waiting time is 1–2 hours and the area is overcrowded. Biggest issue is returning without your own vehicle — auto drivers refuse to go unless their big autos are full, making tourists wait for hours. Strongly recommend visiting only if you have your own transport. We recently visited Chandi Devi Temple in Haridwar and while the temple itself is serene and spiritually uplifting, the overall experience left us disappointed due to poor management around the visit. To reach the temple, you need to take the tram (ropeway) service, but the waiting time is extremely long — anywhere between 1–2 hours. The starting point for the tram is overcrowded, which makes the wait even more uncomfortable. There are some small shops for souvenirs, snacks, and games, but that doesn’t balance the chaos. Once you reach the top, there is a small hike via stairway to the temple. The stairs are divided into two sides — one for going up (which is in good condition) and one for coming down (which is poorly maintained and quite difficult to walk on). All of this could still be manageable, but the biggest problem starts when you have to return to your hotel or onward destination without your own vehicle. The auto drivers outside act like goons — they refuse to take passengers unless their large autos are filled completely, or you hire the entire vehicle even if you’re a single person. When I asked small auto drivers, they said they’re afraid of the big ones as they get threatened or beaten if they pick up customers from there. We ended up waiting more than an hour just to get back, which completely ruined the experience. The temple is worth visiting, but I strongly recommend going with your own vehicle. The authorities really need to step in and resolve this transportation issue, as it’s making tourists suffer unnecessarily.

Beautifully located on the top of the mountain with Har Ki Pouri beneath it. The road ,if you go walking, is all winding and will take a long time to reach the top. There is cable car service which is pretty crowded but well organised and takes you up in minutes. The view on the way up or down is awesome, with Ganga stretching out for a very very long distance, the Har Ki Pouri, the bridges, etc you can see and the majestic mountains surrounding the area. The temple was quite crowded and people were unruly pushing and pulling, no crowd control as such. Even the darshan was difficult as people were pushing from the back. Apart from the crowd control rest is good. Jai maa Mansa Devi. 🙏

Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar is one of the most popular and sacred temples, beautifully located on the Shivalik hills overlooking the Ganga and Har Ki Pauri. The cable car was a very good experience and offered good views. Keep hold of the ticket if you buy return. The temple complex is very cramped and offers no outside areas (unless you walk up??) The cable car waiting area was not full and the snack outlets in the temple were not open ,I assume it was a less than busy time so I dread to think how claustrophobic it would be when super busy! Shoe stand at entrance. Negotiating each little temple section without being dragged in easier as a westerner but do keep an eye on the rest of the group as we waited ages for" Tail End Charlie "at the the shoe stand on the way out!!
Musicians M — Google review
The temple is located on top of a hill accessed by a ropeway. There is some 15 minutes wait for the ropeway on crowded days. The charges are ₹190 per person and you can book ropeway for Chandi Devi temple too at a discounted package rate here. There is a sloping walkway also available. The views from the ropeway is breathtaking, but the approach to it is through narrow lanes in between houses and dilapidated structures. The Q system was good till the final steps to the temple. Then it became crowded and unruly, maybe due to Diwali week. You can buy some Prasad along the Queue which will be offered to the Goddess and given back. There is a place to keep footwear after the ropeway ride.

Shree Daksheshwar Mahadev - Daksh Prajapati Temple is a vibrant and significant Hindu temple situated near the River Ganges. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds historical importance related to the tale of King Daksha, Sati, and Lord Shiva.
The temple where Mata sati was born and also the same place where she jumped into the hawan kund, when mahadev is insulted by his father. After listening to this that Mata sati is no more mahadev incarnate veerbhadra one of his most aggressive and powerful entity and command him to kill prajapati daksh, and also command him if any God, Gandharva, army, demi God came up in his way then also kill them but don't stop.. so veerbhadra defeated the whole army and tear them like a piece of paper and killed the prajapati daksh by his single attack and separate his head from his body. After that mahadeb took Mata sati body and roamed in the entire world here and there , and seeing this lord Vishnu start cutting Mata sati body in many parts and each part fallen down on earth and where the all 108 pieces are fall are today's known as shaktipeeth..

Where Divinity Meets Eternity – Daksheswar Mahadev Temple, Kankhal In the serene heart of Kankhal, Haridwar, lies Daksheswar Mahadev Temple — more than just a temple, it is a place where myth and divinity quietly breathe as one. This sacred site holds deep significance in Hindu mythology, marking the place where King Daksha performed his yajna and where Goddess Sati, overcome with grief and devotion, surrendered herself to the sacred fire. The temple echoes the divine tale of Lord Shiva’s sorrow, the creation of Virbhadra, and the eternal love between Shiva and Sati — a story of cosmic energy, sacrifice, and spiritual union. Even today, the energy here is palpable — peaceful yet deeply powerful. As you walk through the temple’s corridors, you don’t just witness devotion… you feel it. The gentle chimes of the bells, the fragrance of incense, and the chants in the air transport you to another realm. It’s a place where time slows down, where the heart feels light, and where the spirit quietly bows. A must-visit for every spiritual traveler, devotee, or seeker of divine peace. Daksheswar Mahadev Temple is not just a destination — it’s a divine moment carved into the heart of Haridwar. The energy here is very strong, and you feel a deep sense of devotion the moment you enter. The temple is clean, well-maintained, and beautifully built. There’s a calm atmosphere around, and it’s usually not very crowded, so you can peacefully do darshan and spend some time in meditation or prayer. It’s a must-visit for Shiva devotees and anyone interested in spiritual or historical places. A truly divine experience! 🙏🏻💫

In taps even after turning geeser hot water was not there. So much water problem. Noone comes to clean room even after calling control desk.

What impressed me most is that they managed expectations very well at the time of booking with a very frank description that does not over promise. GUCCHUPANI ROBBERS CAVE

Mentioned on
59 lists

Hiking area
GucchuPani, also known as Robber's Cave, is a popular tourist spot in Dehradun with a fascinating history. Legend has it that the cave was once a dwelling place of Lord Shiva and during British rule, robbers used it to hide their loot. The natural formation of the cave between conglomerate and limestone adds to its allure. Visitors can enjoy the serene surroundings and even take a dip in the waterfall.
It's a very beautiful & amazing place to hang out with your loved ones. Once you enter you'll be mesmerized by it's scenery & you can take dive into the waterfalls. The ticket price is 35rs for adults but the drawback is they only accept cash no option for online, so you better carry the loose money. Entry was smooth as we went there early so there was no rush as such. Parking was available nearby with 100rs charges for 4 wheeler. You have to wear slippers because of the waterfalls. You can rent the slippers as there were many sellers. You have many shops on the side lane for breakfast & snacks. The best time to visit there is summers. Hope you all find this helpful 🙏 🙏
Nitin S — Google review
Robber’s Cave in Dehradun is a naturally beautiful spot—a narrow gorge with a stream running through it—but honestly, it didn’t feel as peaceful as I’d hoped. The place was overcrowded, which took away from its natural charm and made it hard to enjoy the serene vibe I was expecting. The rock formations and cold water are impressive, and it could be a lovely experience if you manage to go at a quiet time. But if you’re looking for a calm, reflective escape or somewhere to just breathe and soak in nature, this isn’t the best choice on busy days
Bhargavi — Google review
After spending days in the hills, visiting Gucchipani felt like a refreshing little adventure. The place is known for its natural cave formation where a cold stream flows right through the rocks — and walking barefoot in that crystal-clear water is pure fun. As soon as I entered the narrow cave, the temperature dropped and the sound of running water echoed beautifully. Sunlight peeking through the gaps above created a magical vibe. It’s not a long trek, but every step inside feels like walking into nature’s own secret tunnel. The water was icy cold — perfect to beat the heat — and it was amazing to just sit near the waterfall at the end, dip your feet, and let the calmness sink in. Outside, there are a few small cafes serving Maggi, chai, and pakoras — the perfect mountain snack combo after the walk.
Praveen G — Google review
The crowd ruined the experience as there was hardly any space to truly appreciate its beauty. The cave was overcrowded, and the water flow was minimal—made worse by the number of people, making even the dirty water hard to see. The ticket price is ₹30 per person. It’s better to go on foot, as the route is not suitable for cars or other vehicles. To enjoy it properly, avoid visiting on weekends or during rainy days.
Farheen B — Google review
A beautiful and unique spot in Dehradun! Robbers Cave (Guchhu Pani) is perfect if you enjoy nature and a bit of adventure. Walking through the cold stream between high rock walls is an amazing experience — super refreshing, especially in summer. The place is easy to reach and has basic facilities like changing rooms, lockers, and food stalls nearby. However, it can get quite crowded on weekends and cleanliness could be better. Try to visit early morning for a calmer vibe. Avoid going during heavy rains as the water level rises quickly. Overall, a must-visit place for a short getaway or a fun day with friends and family.
Shubham S — Google review
It’s a good natural place to visit in Dehradun. You can walk through the natural caves in the water and if you keep walking in the end you get of caves but can still walk with the stream. There are some spots to jump in and play in the water. Near the entrance there are so many shops selling swim clothes, renting flip flops and providing locker and changing room service. It’s very popular place and hence very crowded. There is plenty of parking space but since it gets crowded it can hard to find a parking spot. I would suggest coming early in the morning to avoid the crowds and also have enough time to explore. The river can be dangerous and is prone to flash floods. Be careful in rainy season and follow the advice of the staff.

A must-visit place in Dehradun! Gucchupani (Robber’s Cave) is a truly unique spot where you can walk barefoot through cool, flowing water between beautiful natural rock formations. The whole experience feels refreshing and adventurous at the same time. The water is crystal clear, and the surroundings are calm, making it a perfect escape from city life. It’s best to visit in the morning or late afternoon when it’s less crowded. Carry an extra pair of clothes and slippers, as you’ll definitely want to wade through the stream. There are also small eateries nearby for snacks and tea. Overall, a peaceful and fun experience with family or friends — highly recommended if you’re in Dehradun!

Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir, a renowned Hindu temple in Dehradun, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its tranquil atmosphere. The temple is situated inside a natural cave with water dripping from the ceiling, creating a serene ambiance. It houses one of the earliest Shivlings and is located on the bank of the seasonal Asan River. The temple complex also includes other shrines and deities, making it a popular pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand.
Tapkeshwar Temple, an ancient revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva or Mahadev located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. It is famous for its natural Shivling inside a cave, on which water continuously drips from the cave's ceiling. This unique phenomenon gives the temple its name, "Tapkeshwar," which is derived from the word tapak, meaning "to drip". There is also a sulphur cold spring near the temple for devotees to take a holy dip. You need to walk down approximately 100+ steps to reach the temple and while returning you need to take these steps uphill so not recommended for people who have walking or knee problems.

Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir is truly a sacred gem in Dehradun. Nestled inside a natural cave, the temple offers a divine experience — the continuous dripping of water on the Shiva Linga feels magical. You can also enjoy the nearby stream and scenic beauty around the temple. A visit here fills you with peace and positivity. 🙏🕉️

Surrounded by greenery and built around a natural cave, the temple has a calming atmosphere .The continuous water droplets falling on the Shiva Linga adds a unique, serene charm. The walk down to the temple is beautiful, and the sound of the flowing river nearby makes the whole experience even more soothing. The cave itself is cool and naturally lit, giving it a sacred and ancient feel.

It's just a divine experience for the spiritual seekers!! The temple is present amidst the panorama of caves, the fiercely flowing "Asan" river by its side and many more pictures and idols of religious and spiritual significance. This temple is basically dedicated to Mahadev and is named after the fact that the water droplets fall continuously from the roof inside the cave directly on the Shiva Linga (the symbolic of Mahadev); hence the name goes Baba Tapkeshwar!! A must visit devotional site for seeking blessings of Mahadev!! Har Har Mahadev!! Baba Tapkeshwar sabke upar apni kripa drishti banaye rakhe!!🔱📿🙏❤️

Visited Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Dehradun — truly a divine experience where one can feel real peace and spiritual energy all around. The temple is well-managed and beautifully maintained, offering a sense of calm away from the city’s noise. However, cleanliness can be improved a bit to make the experience even better. Overall, a must-visit place for anyone seeking peace and blessings.

It’s truly a divine experience for every spiritual seeker! The temple is nestled amidst majestic caves, with the fiercely flowing Asan River adding to its serenity and power. The entire atmosphere feels sacred — surrounded by spiritual idols and symbols that radiate peace and devotion. 🕉️ This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Mahadev (Shiva). It is named “Baba Tapkeshwar” because water droplets continuously fall from the cave’s roof directly onto the Shiva Linga — symbolizing the eternal blessing of Mahadev Himself. Visiting this place fills your heart with a sense of calm, purity, and deep devotion. Truly, a must-visit for all devotees seeking the divine grace of Mahadev.

One of the best place in dehradun. The calm & soothing environment. Best place for meditation. The aroma & sound of water stream makes you forgot all your tensions. Along with Mahadev temple Maa Vaishno devi cave is there & Huge statue of Bajrang Bali. River is clean yet avoid stepping in it. Go with your family, with your friends or even alone. You can directly book auto or cab to be here. Om Namah Shivay
AKANSH S — Google review
Great place for devotional visitors. Has a large parking spot in an open ground and a lift is there to bring people to and from ground area. ##Caution for 4 wheelers## Google maps shows incorrect way to the temple , from near ShuttleZone Badminton and HM Gate Garhi Cantt. The road ahead is extremely narrow and it is instead recommended to go from Tapkeshwar road from Garhi chowk instead. ##### There are around 3 distinct temples in the area. It was heavily damaged in sep-oct 2025 floods but temporary and secure bridges have been built to navigate and renovation is ongoing without hindrance to visitors (Nov 2025). The two cave like temples are in natural (or probably natural like) caves and require ducking and slight crawling.

_A Hidden Gem for Photography Enthusiasts - Kalesar National Park_ I recently had the pleasure of visiting Kalesar National Park, and I must say, it's a nature lover's paradise! The park is lush green, with a serene atmosphere that's perfect for photography enthusiasts like myself. However, I was surprised to find that safari services are currently not available, and visitors are allowed to enter at their own risk. But that didn't deter me! I ventured in and was rewarded with some amazing experiences. The park is a haven for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers. If you're lucky, you can spot beautiful peacocks and capture stunning images. The surroundings are breathtaking, with great roads and scenic views that make for perfect photography opportunities. I highly recommend Kalesar National Park to fellow photography enthusiasts. Be sure to allocate sufficient time to explore the greenery, roads, and surroundings. A word of caution: be aware of wild animals, as they can appear unexpectedly. Keep your wits about you while taking pictures, and you'll have a wonderful time. _Recommendation:_ If you're passionate about photography and nature, add Kalesar National Park to your bucket list. It's a hidden gem waiting to be explored!

I had recently travelled to leh Ladakh with planet way around , as a co passenger with Rahul, words are quite less to express my gratitude the way the trip had went. I had a lifetime of experience with the most stunning, extremely beautiful places in Ladakh with the most adventurous experience without any fear. Been on some of the most dangerous terrain and roads, but with expertise Rahul had shown and the guidance he had provided , I had the wonderful and way more comfortable trip as I had imagined. I would definitely recommend Planet way around if you really want to go out of the box and experience the things which you do not have imagined also.

Nestled in the historic city of its namesake, the Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Center is a beautiful and unique destination that masterfully bridges the gap between ancient epics and modern scientific curiosity. It is more than just a museum; it’s a captivating experience, perfect for a family day out, brimming with fun activities and enriching knowledge. The center’s main attraction is the breathtaking Panorama, a visual and auditory spectacle dedicated to the Mahabharat war. Inside a circular building, a magnificent panoramic painting and a dramatic sound-and-light narration bring the climactic battle of Kurukshetra to life. You don’t just learn about the war; you feel transported to the battlefield, gaining a profound understanding of this pivotal moment in ancient Indian culture and history. Complementing this journey into the past is the Science Center, which is a guaranteed hit with kids. Packed with interactive exhibits and working models, it makes complex principles of physics and technology accessible and incredibly fun. Children can engage with hands-on activities that spark curiosity and make learning an adventure. Beyond the indoor exhibits, the complex offers a lovely backyard park. Here, children can enjoy swings and, to their delight, often spot playful rabbits hopping around. This green space provides a perfect setting to relax and is a good place to click some beautiful pictures, with the unique architecture of the center serving as a fantastic backdrop. Whether you are a history buff, a science enthusiast, or a parent looking for an engaging outing, the Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Center delivers. It’s a place where you can spend quality time, where every corner offers something new to discover, making it an unforgettable and highly recommended experience for all ages.

Brahma Sarovar, located in Thanesar, is a significant Hindu water pool surrounded by sculptures and temples. It is a historic site that has been mentioned by the 12th-century scholar Al Beruni in his memoirs about India. The sarovar attracts pilgrims, especially during solar eclipses when it is believed that taking a dip in its waters can absolve one of all sins.
A place with religious significance. It is believed that Lord Brahma performed a yajna here in which all demigods participated and since then this place is called Brahma Sarovar. A well maintained place. Lot of locals come here for morning and evening walks. There is a Hanuman ji temple outside the premise and Shiva temple inside along with Maa Katyayni temple and some other temples too. Very peaceful and serene place. In the evenings aarti is performed at the sarovar, just like Ganga aarti. We couldn’t attend the full aarti as a huge storm suddenly brewed up in Kurukshetra at the time of aarti. There are many incidents marked on the pillars which have sone relevance to Kurukshetra. I loved the place and it’s upkeep.

I had the chance to visit Brahma Sarovar in January this year, and it was truly a beautiful and peaceful experience. The place holds immense historical and spiritual significance, yet it’s surprisingly less known among tourists. The energy here is something you feel the moment you step in. It’s serene, scenic, and deeply rooted in India’s legacy. I really hope more efforts are made to promote this hidden gem—India needs to know more about treasures like this!

Brahma Sarovar is an ancient, sacred, man-made water tank in Kurukshetra, Haryana, India, associated with Lord Brahma and the Hindu faith. It is a significant pilgrimage site where devotees take holy dips for spiritual purification and which hosts the annual Gita Jayanti festival, commemorating the birth of the Bhagavad Gita. The area is also significant for its connection to the epic Mahabharata and offers a serene, peaceful environment with a traditional evening aarti ceremony.

Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra is an absolutely breathtaking place, blending natural beauty with spiritual tranquility. The vastness of the area is the first thing that strikes you—spanning across acres of land, it offers a serene and peaceful environment perfect for relaxation and reflection. The large ponds that fill the Sarovar are equally impressive, but dirty waters. One of the most memorable experiences here is the evening Aarti. The atmosphere during the Aarti is nothing short of magical—the sounds of devotional chants and the fragrance of incense fill the air, while the setting sun casts a golden hue over the entire area. It's a truly spiritual experience that brings a deep sense of peace to anyone who takes part in it. The sight of graceful swans gliding across the water adds an extra layer of charm to the place. Watching them move in harmony with the water is both mesmerizing and soothing. Whether you're a spiritual seeker, nature lover, or simply looking for a peaceful spot to unwind, Brahma Sarovar is the perfect destination. The combination of its natural beauty, spiritual energy, and the peaceful ambiance makes Brahma Sarovar a must-visit when in Kurukshetra. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a meaningful and peaceful experience!

Gurudwara Sri Manji (Baoli) Sahib Ji is a stunning Sikh temple adorned with gilded domes and intricately designed marble prayer halls, set within a spacious colonnaded courtyard. This sacred site marks the location where the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind, took refuge during his journey to meet Emperor Jahangir. Nestled along G.T.
The Gurudwara Manji Sahib was built on the site where the sixth Guru stayed during his visit to Ambala city. The main Gurudwara building is on G.T. Road (Shershah Suri Marg). Devotees come to this pilgrimage site to take a dip in the nearby pond. They also take nectar from the stepwell built by the sixth Guru during his stay here. Gurdwara Baoli Sahib or Gurdwara Manji Sahib – It is said that Guru Hargobind stayed here on his way to meet Emperor Jahangir. Villagers of nearby Khurrampur Majri complained of a chronic shortage of drinking water. The Guru encouraged them to dig a stepwell and ordered some of the Sikhs living there to help the villagers dig the stepwell and bridge it. On returning from Delhi, the Guru was happy to see that the work was completed. The Sikhs established a memorial platform, the Manji Sahib, at the place where the Guru lived near Baoli.

Very calm and serene place. Visited this place during my SSC exam. The place is beautiful especially at night. There's a pond behind the main Gurudwara which is lovely. They have good room facility to stay at night. Only 300 for a night. Rooms are spacious and they are also clean as well. Although the top most rooms can feel a little hot in summer. But it's the ideal place to stay if you are going for an exam.
