Waterfalls
Nestled in the scenic Mhow Tehsil of Indore district, Patalpani Waterfall is a breathtaking natural wonder that captivates visitors with its stunning beauty. Cascading from an impressive height of 300 meters, this majestic waterfall truly comes alive during the monsoon season when it swells dramatically, creating a powerful spectacle. Surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, it's no surprise that Patalpani has become a favored picnic destination for locals seeking to escape into nature.
This is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and hills. The view is truly refreshing, especially during monsoon, when the waterfall is at its full charm. It’s a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy nature’s beauty. A must-visit place near Indore for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.

It's a good picnic spot for indorians, but it's good until you keep your self safe. After rain the fall becomes attractive. Now a days so many shops are there to fulfill the needs of public travelling to it.
Nikhil R — Google review
Amazing place for a short picnic. Few food stalls available but beware of monkeys. Amazing view points. Water flow was high in October 2025. I reached Mhow Railway and took a to and fro auto for 500 Rs. Do bargain. However if you have own vehicle its much easier.
Kishen H — Google review
It is a very picturesque spot, especially in monsoon when the water gushes down the 200-foot deep gorge. The view is very scenic when the sun sets. A good place for a nice trekking or camping activity also. People should rake efforts to keep the area clean. Beware of monkeys as they can be troublesome sometimes. Adequate parking space is available. It is also a historical spot to commemorate the heroics of Tantya Bheel against the British.
Tejas A — Google review
It's a beautiful place, lack of maintenance. Full of trash and junk. And I understand some people trying to make money out of visitors, with photographers set up and occupied all the spot and chats Dukan. They make the place miserable loud , noisy and dirty. If you wanna enjoy the beauty of this place you have to walk further, not from the actual view spot.
Danny A — Google review
Deepest waterfall in Indore. Good only for monsoon season. Avoid in summers. Very hot and around 40kms from Indore city. Nothing to visit around. And located in village area.
Vigyan P — Google review
Patalpani Waterfall is a breathtaking natural retreat just outside Indore. The cascading water from nearly 300 ft, nestled amid dense greenery and rolling hills, offers serene beauty and refreshing tranquility. Ideal for a quick getaway, its monsoon splendor and scenic train views make it a memorable picnic and trekking spot
Sourabh M — Google review
Nice and beautiful springs falling from Sky. Cleanliness is required in surrounding. Don't do any adventure and not make any reel. Feel the really beauty of nature with family and friends. Have a visit to Patalpani railway station take photo with heritage train. Take butta. And must visit to the monument of Tribal leader Tantia . Where his holy ashes cremated after execution at Jabalpur. Enjoy the liberty gained through our bevere Leaders.Salute to Tantia...the real hero. A part of God.

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham Hindu Mandir, Indore Overview and Location The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham Hindu Mandir is a significant and beautiful religious center in Indore. It is a highly recommended religious place for devotion and peace. The temple is conveniently located on the AB Road Bypass in Indore. Personal Visit Experience I had the pleasure of visiting this temple during the first week of November. The timing of the visit was perfect, as I found the Mandir to be exceptionally well-decorated with lights during that period. This special festive lighting created a truly beautiful and divine atmosphere across the entire complex. I was very impressed and really liked the temple's presentation and grandeur. This Mandir is a very good place that offers a deeply satisfying experience. It is highly suitable for visiting with family, friends, or children, providing a peaceful and positive environment for everyone. It is definitely a must-visit location on the AB Road bypass in Indore.

Amazing Mandir. The Garb Gruh is on the ground floor and there's a Sabhamandap on the upper floor where Satsang sabha is there every Sunday evening. The campus also features a guesthouse, with 20 AC rooms for the convenience of travellers. There's also a Dining Hall within the Main building itself. Mandir is very nicely decorated with Parks around it. There's a well established community which attends the Sabha every weekend, and they are nice to talk to. Worth a visit

Roopmati Pavilion

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Architectural Buildings
Roopmati Pavilion, a palace with a romantic history, was built by Baz Bahadur for his beloved Roopmati. It offers stunning views of the Narmada River and is part of the ancient rock-cut architecture dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries. Originally an army observation post, it later became Roopmati's residence. The palace is meticulously maintained and surrounded by lush greenery, adding to its charm.
It is an excellent place to sit and view both the history of the pavilion and the plains below. Original a watch tower, it was subsequently repurposed for the queen offering her privacy for her prayers and daily chores. It is very windy on top and one can see how painstakingly efforts were taken to conserve water through rain water harvesting. The climb to top from the security gate may be tiring for old people and wheelchair bound person.
Tejas A — Google review
The Roopmati Pavilion in Mandu, Madhya Pradesh, is a captivating blend of history, architecture, and romance. Built in the 16th century by Sultan Baz Bahadur for Rani Roopmati, this pavilion offers stunning panoramic views from its hilltop location, overlooking the Baz Bahadur Palace and the Narmada River. The architecture is a beautiful example of simplicity and elegance, with arched openings and well-designed rooms that provide both aesthetic appeal and natural ventilation. The pavilion is steeped in the legendary love story of Baz Bahadur and Rani Roopmati, making it a poignant and historically rich destination. A visit to the Roopmati Pavilion is a journey through time, offering breathtaking views, architectural marvels, and a deep dive into the cultural heritage of Mandu. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking to experience the beauty of history and romance.
Hamza F — Google review
The Roopmati Pavilion is a compact yet beautiful architectural marvel that offers spectacular panoramic views and a wonderful, cold breeze, making the sight of the Nimar Valley the clear highlight. However, while the structure is excellent, the small site can be explored in just 1 to 1.5 hours and the overall visitor experience is let down by poor amenities. Specifically, the lack of clear signs to explain the smaller historical areas, along with a noticeable absence of good drinking water and clean restroom facilities, detracts significantly from the visit. Despite these flaws, the breathtaking vista secures it a respectable 3.5/5 rating.
Rohan G — Google review
Nice, small fortress, with a nice early morning view. You can ask for a local guide for the history of the place. Access to the top is blocked, but the view from the accessible areas is also good. It is important to know the story of Baaz Bahadur and Roopmati to appreciate the place.
Prashant D — Google review
Beautiful place — we were lucky to experience rain. The views are great, and the history of this place is rich. A must-visit, with a well-maintained monument and garden
Bhavna V — Google review
We visited Roopmati Mahal in Mandu during the last week of September in 2025. While the fort is old and there is nothing much to see there but the views of Vindhya ranges and nearby areas are mesmerizing. It was green all around with scenic beauty. We really enjoyed the fort. 30-45 minutes are good enough for the fort visit. Need to walk 300-400 mtr on an altitude but worth visiting.
Santosh G — Google review
If one has not visited Mandu then, he must make an endeavour to do so. Foolling are photos of Rani Roopmati Mahal, from where she used to have darshan of Ma Narmada River. One can see how rain water harvesting & storing was done during that time & how a fort was built & defences around

Treasure Island Mall, affectionately known as TI Mall by locals, is a vibrant multi-level shopping destination nestled in the heart of Indore. This contemporary mall boasts an impressive array of well-known retailers alongside a bustling food court and a state-of-the-art multiplex cinema. After undergoing extensive renovations and reopening in December 2015, it has become a favorite spot for both shopping enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
The mall is really good and well-maintained. It has a wide range of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options for everyone. The place is clean, spacious, and nicely organized. The ambiance is pleasant, and the staff are helpful and courteous. It’s a great spot to shop, dine, and spend quality time with family and friends.
AKSHAY S — Google review
Treasure Island Mall is a decent spot if you're looking for a quick shopping spree or a casual hangout. The mall offers a good variety of brands, and the food court has multiple options to satisfy your cravings. It's centrally located, which makes it easy to access. One nice feature is the game zone for kids — it’s a good place to keep the little ones entertained while you shop or relax. It’s not very large, but it has enough games and activities to keep kids happy for a while. However, the mall feels a bit cramped on weekends, and the parking situation can get frustrating. Some areas could definitely use better maintenance, and a few shops remain empty, which dulls the overall vibe. It’s a good place for a casual visit, but don’t expect a luxurious or very vibrant experience.
Hershit G — Google review
Nice mall with adequate parking place & other required facilities, automation and nature friendly precautions followed at every end. Need more food courts with better serving capacity. Allover look of the mall is good, you can refresh here with your family and shopping as per your requirements. Some unique collections are available here.

Treasure Island Mall in Indore is a great place to spend a few hours, whether you’re shopping, catching a movie, or just hanging out. The mall has a good variety of brands — from fashion to electronics — and the layout is pretty easy to navigate. The ambience is clean, modern, and well-maintained, which makes the overall experience pleasant. The food court has plenty of options, though it does get crowded during peak hours. Parking is convenient but can be a bit tight on weekends. One thing I really liked was the overall vibe — it feels lively without being too overwhelming. Overall, a solid shopping experience and definitely one of Indore’s better malls. Could improve crowd management and seating areas, but still worth visiting!
Modi L — Google review
Very Nice shopping mall in the central market of Indore. Beautiful and wonderful atmosphere for shopping with family. All facilities are available in one place.
Pawan P — Google review
Went at 20:44 hrs on 21st Oct'25. At basement car park the counter person said fast tag not working. Asked to pay Rs 30 for parking. Paid and got reciept. At exit one attendant asked for parking payment proof and after seeing the reciept kept it with himself. Later on checked my sms an amount of Rs 50/- was deducted from my fasttag. Either mall doing scam or staff. The staff clearly said that fast tag is not working.

Shri Annapurna Temple Indore

Mentioned on
8 lists
Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
The Annapurna Temple is an ornate Hindu temple in Indore, India dedicated to the goddess of food, Annapurna. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit this shrine every year, drawn by its imposing facade and gilded gate.
This temple is dedicated to Maa Annapurna and stands out for its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere. The structure is single-leveled, but its beauty lies in the intricate details that adorn every part of it. The temple is supported by numerous finely carved pillars, each featuring beautiful architectural engravings that reflect traditional craftsmanship. Constructed entirely with white marble, the temple walls, pillars, and boundary are adorned with delicate carvings of various gods and goddesses, especially from the Malwa region’s artistic style. At the heart of the temple resides the deity of Maa Annapurna. The inner sanctum offers a peaceful and calming environment, making it an ideal place for meditation or quiet reflection. The marble flooring adds to the soothing vibe, encouraging visitors to sit and absorb the divine energy of the space. From the outside, the temple is equally captivating. Especially during the evening, it is beautifully illuminated with white and blue lighting that gives the entire structure a divine and ethereal glow. The temple is not just visually impressive, but also thoughtfully designed for visitor comfort. A dedicated footwear stand is available to the left of the entrance for safekeeping. Within the same temple complex, there are several smaller shrines, including one dedicated to Lord Shiva. I also noticed a covered well, suggesting that the temple has historical roots and has likely undergone renovations over time. Interestingly, the temple is usually not very crowded, which allows visitors to fully appreciate its spiritual and architectural charm in a calm and peaceful setting.

This mandir is absolutely stunning — the entire place is made of beautiful marble with intricate designs that make it look divine. The lighting, especially in the evening, adds a golden glow that makes the whole temple shine even more. The atmosphere is peaceful and spiritual. They also serve free herbal tea, which is a lovely gesture and adds to the calm and welcoming experience. Definitely worth visiting for both the architecture and the serenity! 🙏

Annapurna Temple in Indore is one of the most famous and revered temples of the city, known for its spiritual aura as well as its architectural beauty. Dedicated to Goddess Annapurna, the goddess of food and nourishment, this temple attracts not only devotees but also tourists who wish to witness its unique charm. The temple is built in a way that beautifully combines spirituality with art, as its entrance resembles the grand style of South Indian temples. The towering gate is decorated with sculptures of elephants and four life-sized elephants at the entrance, which immediately leave an impression of grandeur and divinity. Inside, the temple houses the idol of Goddess Annapurna, along with other deities such as Shiva, Hanuman, and Kalabhairava, giving devotees a complete spiritual experience. The atmosphere is peaceful and calming, especially during the morning and evening aarti, when chants and bells fill the air. The temple is not only a place of worship but also a reminder of the importance of food and nourishment in our lives, as symbolized by Goddess Annapurna. Apart from its religious significance, Annapurna Temple is also an architectural delight. The carvings on the walls and the structure of the temple make it a favorite spot for those interested in art, culture, and heritage. The temple is well-maintained, clean, and easily accessible, making it convenient for people of all age groups. Whether you are a devotee seeking blessings or a traveler exploring Indore’s culture, Annapurna Temple is a must-visit destination that offers peace, devotion, and cultural richness in one place. ...🚩📿

The temple is very beautiful, and once you enter and sit there after darshan, you instantly feel calm and relaxed. The entrance with the big elephant structures really catches your eye, and the detailed carvings inside the temple are amazing. It’s not too crowded, and there’s no ticket required for darshan. Parking is also available inside the temple premises, which is convenient. The whole place gives a very positive and peaceful vibe — truly worth visiting if you’re in Indore.

Very old Heritage temple. It was recently renovated and they have a very huge backyard where religious events take place often. Parking is at the back of the temple and they also have a gaushala with more than 25 cows. They are now building a annkshetra (food hall) at the back for common people.

Lal Bagh Palace

Mentioned on

Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
Lal Bagh Palace, a lavish 19th-century mansion of the Holkar dynasty, showcases a blend of baroque, rococo, and neoclassical architectural styles. This three-story palace has been transformed into a grand museum featuring Italian and Indian paintings, exquisite chandeliers, and furnishings reflecting early Georgian and late Persian designs. Spanning across 28 hectares of land, it stands as a testament to the opulence and culture of the Maratha kingdom.
Very great palace to know about the Holkars dynasty. The architecture was mix of European and Indian mix. The interiors are very posh and royal, however there were renovations going on in the palace. Once it is complete, I am sure it would be a must visit place in Indore. The entry ticket for adults is Rs. 50 and for kids it is free entry. Ample parking space and good greenery around the palace.
Vishnu C — Google review
My experience was quite good, but to get there you first need to bargain with the auto drivers. They will ask for ₹100, but you should only give them ₹20. They will tell you that the gate charges parking fees, but in reality, the parking is only ₹10. The place is not very far from the gate, so you can also go by walking. As for inside, you won’t find drinking water there, so it’s better to carry your own water bottle. The entry ticket is just ₹20. There isn’t much special inside the palace. However, it’s a nice place for couples—it’s peaceful, surrounded by forest, and you can sit quietly and talk. But if you are going with your family, then you won’t really find it that enjoyable.
RAVI K — Google review
Lal Bagh Palace is one of the most fascinating heritage gems in Indore, and my visit here was an unexpectedly rich experience. The moment you step inside the massive iron gates, imported from London and said to be inspired by those of Buckingham Palace, you instantly feel the grandeur of the Holkar era. The palace was built in phases between 1886 and 1921 by the Holkar rulers, mainly by Tukoji Rao Holkar II and III, and it served as one of their important residences. Knowing that you are walking through the same corridors where the Holkar royal family lived makes the visit even more special. The interiors are the real showstopper. The palace has a strong European architectural influence, especially Italian and French styles. The grand ballroom, with its large Belgian mirrors and ornate decorations, is absolutely breathtaking. One interesting fact I loved learning about is that the ballroom’s floor was designed with springs inside so that it would vibrate with the rhythm of the music during royal dances something truly ahead of its time. Another surprising feature is the European-style elevator, which was installed more than a century ago! Seeing such engineering in a palace of that era is genuinely impressive. The walls, furniture, chandeliers, and artwork, all reflect the luxurious lifestyle of the Holkars. Every room seems to preserve a piece of history. The palace also sits on a beautiful 28-acre estate, and although some areas outside could use better maintenance, the overall charm is still intact. The museum section displays old photographs, royal artifacts, weapons, and personal belongings that give insight into the Holkar dynasty’s cultural legacy. What I personally found most interesting is that Lal Bagh Palace used to host major diplomatic and royal gathering, it wasn’t just a residence but a symbol of Indore’s power, culture, and openness to global influences.
Hemendra D — Google review
This is a grand palace with a lot of European architectural influence. But it has its own pros and cons. Pros: Beautiful architecture and high ceilings (I really like buildings with high ceilings). Massive garden area in the premises. And since Indore doesn’t have a lot to offer, you can visit this to pass time. Cons: It’s under renovation for restoration work. Most of the palace is inaccessible. There is not much to see with what is accessible. If you have visited a lot of museums and palaces, you won’t enjoy it at all. Ticket price is only Rs 20 pp.
A K — Google review
I am disappointed and feeling cheated. The Lalbagh Palace is under renovation but they didn't tell me this before I bought the high priced ticket (400) for foreigners. Only a few ground floor rooms are accessible, other ones are closed. The garden is poorly maintained and littered, the toilet is broken and dirty. When I asked why the renovation wasn't mentioned, they said it is written. Yes, in Hindi. Why they couldn't write that two words: "Under renovation" in English? Waste of money and time. This high entry fees for foreigners, the constant discrimination, will not develop the international tourism.

Lalbagh Palace at Indore was built by the Holkar Dynasty. The Holkars resided in the palace up to 1978. After the demise of Tukojirao Holkar(III), his granddaughter Usha Raje set up a trust to look after the estate. Later, it was brought under the control of State Government. It is a lovely palace to visit and has some beautifully decorated rooms which are very similar in architecture to what you see in Windsor palace. So whenever you are planning a trip to Indore, do visit this iconic Palace, and fall in love with its wonderful architecture. Owing to its real royal feel, Lal Bagh Palace has remained one of the favourite Bollywood shooting location. Many movies like Kalank, Singh Saab the Great and Mahal (Tamil Movie) have been shot in the palace. Date visited : 22.10.2025

Echoes of Time — Rajwada, Indore By Musafir Nama (@Rana’s Photography) Indore wasn’t just another stop on my official trip — it turned into a walk through history. Before heading back to Delhi, my curiosity led me to the heart of the city — Rajwada Palace, a place where every arch and corridor whispers stories of the Holkar dynasty. As I stepped inside, the air felt different — heavy with heritage, yet peaceful. The long corridors echoed with the footsteps of the past. The stone arches stood tall, as if still guarding the royal memories etched in them. Each turn revealed symmetry, strength, and silence — a reminder of India’s architectural brilliance. Descending the narrow stone staircase felt like entering another era — dimly lit, mysterious, timeless. And when I finally stood in the courtyard, looking at the magnificent façade, I could almost imagine the royal gatherings that once filled this space with life and laughter. Travel isn’t always about distance — sometimes it’s about depth. Rajwada reminded me how every city has a soul, waiting to be heard. 📍 Rajwada Palace, Indore 🎥 Captured on an unplanned detour 📸 @Rana’s Photography ✨ Keep wandering. Keep feeling. — #MusafirNama

Rajwada Palace, Indore – A Grand Portal to the Rich Legacy of the Holkars Visiting Rajwada Palace in Indore is like stepping back in time to an era of royalty, artistry, and cultural grandeur. Built by the Holkar dynasty around 1747 AD under Malhar Rao Holkar, the palace stands as one of Indore’s most iconic landmarks. 🏛️ Architecture & Design The palace is a magnificent seven-storied structure — the lower three floors made of stone and the upper floors crafted in wood. This blend of materials gives it a unique charm while showcasing traditional Maratha, Mughal, and French architectural influences. The grand arched gateway, beautifully carved balconies, jharokhas, and large wooden doors add to its royal aura. 🔥 History & Restoration Rajwada has witnessed multiple fires over centuries, the most severe during the 1984 riots, which damaged many wooden sections. It was lovingly restored in the 2000s under Maharani Usha Devi Holkar, staying true to the original style using traditional materials. The gardens, fountains, and statues of Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar now make the palace surroundings even more inviting. 👀 What to See & Do Inside, the small museum displays royal artefacts, weapons, paintings, and heritage items from the Holkar era. The Darbar Hall and Ganesha Hall sometimes host cultural programs and exhibitions. Outside, the bustling Khajuri Bazaar and local street food stalls bring the old city of Indore to life. ℹ️ Visitor Info & Tips Timings: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (approx.) Entry Fee: Very nominal (around ₹10) Best Time: Morning or evening hours for pleasant weather Carry water, wear comfortable shoes, and plan to explore nearby markets. 💬 Final Thoughts Rajwada Palace is a beautiful blend of history, architecture, and local culture. Its restoration preserves the essence of Indore’s royal heritage. Walking through its gates, you can feel the pride and grandeur of the Holkar dynasty. A must-visit for anyone exploring Indore — whether you love history, architecture, or simply beautiful places.

Like Golgumbaz in Bijapur this tomb is for Hoshang Shah who was burried here with his wife. The place is well maintained. The attraction is the perfetly aligned three rows of pillars in the hall to the right side of the tomb. The geometrical symmetry is something spectacular. worth visiting once.

Beutifully carved and well maintained. It's just behind jami masjid and only small steps are provided through jami masjid for this place. So I have to look carefully otherwise I may miss this place. It resembles tajmahal. Architecture is like mixed hindu and Persian type. There are many small tombs inside.

Hoshang Shah’s Tomb is mainly known as the inspiration for the Taj Mahal, but beyond that there isn’t much to see. We ended up spending more time at the registration counter filling out the form and making the payment than inside the monument itself, where we were the only visitors.

The tomb of Hoshang Shah in Mandu, built in the 15th century, is widely regarded as the earliest marble mausoleum in India. A notable landmark of Afghan architectural style, it later influenced the design of the Taj Mahal, with Emperor Shah Jahan reportedly sending his architects to examine its structure. The monument stands out for its gleaming white marble, impressive domes, and detailed ornamental work, showcasing a harmonious blend of Afghan and local Hindu architectural traditions.

Hoshang Shah's tomb is situated in the middle of the courtyard of the majestic mausoleum, surrounded by square-shaped walls. One can enter the mausoleum from the entrance gate, (which is built on a square plan with a marble dome) in the middle of the northern wall. The tomb of Hoshang shah is a grand construction, having a square plan and a dome. It is built on a basement of remarkable width and height. The entire building including the dome is covered in marble, providing majestic atmosphere. It is interesting to note that the main entrance and stairs are situated in the south side, the other side of the entrance to the courtyard. In the four corners of the domed roof, there are constructions with battlements and small domes. They are above the basements, which are built along with a dome. There are plant decorations extending from the edge of the roof and the eaves. They are coloured in red and black, accenting the marble building. Hindu patterns can be observed in the decorations. Considering these and other patterns inside the tomb chamber, we can assume there was involvement of Hindu workmen from the neighbouring towns.

The Hindola Mahal, or ‘Swinging Palace,’ is a striking architectural jewel within Mandu’s Royal Enclave, dating to the 15th-century Malwa Sultanate. Constructed perhaps under Hoshang Shah, it served as the kingdom's primary royal audience hall, or durbar. Its defining feature is the immense, theatrical incline of its buttress walls . Sloping at a dramatic 77-degree angle, these supports create the palace’s characteristic optical illusion of being in perpetual, gentle motion—a masterful feat of engineering. The Mahal exemplifies a bold, minimalist Indo-Islamic style, where stark visual impact outweighs excessive ornamentation. The simple T-shaped plan and towering ogee arches demonstrate an elegant fusion of Afghan structural strength and indigenous functional clarity. As the epicenter of power, the colossal hall witnessed countless royal ceremonies and major state assemblies. Its imposing structure clearly underscored the authority and prosperity of the Malwa rulers, who called their capital 'The City of Joy' (Shadibad). Today, this engineering marvel endures as a vital cultural artifact, narrating a story of medieval ingenuity and regional heritage. Its unique design and dramatic presence continue to inspire awe, securing its place as an indispensable Indian landmark.

Adjoining the famous Jahaj Mahal, Hindola Mahal forms Parrt of the heritage royal buildings complex in Mandu. This historical building has slanting outer walls at an angle of 77° and thus it presumably gives the look of a swing. Frankly I could not visualize it as a swing. That apart, the building looks beautiful. There are other buildings. The surrounding are very well maintained. Adjascent to Hindola Mahal, there are other smaller monuments worth seeing.
Arun G — Google review
Hindola Mahal – meaning Swing palace is so named due to its sloping side walls. The Hindola Mahal might have been constructed during the reign of Hushang Shah about 1425 C.E. but may date to the end of the 15th century during the reign of Ghiyas al-Din. It is one of a set buildings making up the royal palace complex at Mandu, which consists of the Jahaz Mahal, the Hindola Mahal, the Taveli Mahal, and the Nahar Jharokha. The Hindola Mahal may have been used as an audience chamber. The plan of the Hindola Mahal is a T-shape, though examination of the exterior walls leads to the conclusion that the crossbar was added later. The vertical mast of the plan consists of one main hall measuring 30 by 18 metres (98 by 59 feet) and 12 metres (39 feet) high. Its lateral walls are 3 metres (9.8 feet) thick and further reinforced by massive inclined buttresses that angle over 77 degrees. These highly inclined buttresses give the Hindola Mahal (Swinging Palace) its name. They also neutralize the outward force of five massive arches that once supported the large flat roof of the main hall. On each exterior of the long sides of the main hall are six recessed arches which hold doors in their lower sections and three slabs of open-work stone windows to let in air and light. A high wall holds battlements on the roof of the building.

The entire fort complex within the Jahaj Mahal of mandu is steeped in history, it's not only absolutely stunning but also such an experience. Hindola Mahal is undergoing certain upkeep work and that's great, but the place itself is very beautiful, the architecture is to die for and the light and sound show at night is also projected here, such a great experience.

Hindola Mahal is Artistic, Beautiful Unique Structure ! Hindola Mahal Built by Hushang Shah, probably around A.D. 1425 as a Durbar hall. The walls are inordinately thick and slope like those of a castle. The slope of over 77 degrees gives a swinging appearance to the building, hence the name. The plan is 'T' shaped. The upright stem being the main hall (which was built first), and the cross bar is a transverse portion added later. The structure was probably supposed to have the zenana place as another storey above the main hall, which would explain the bulk and strength of the walls. Jantar Mantar in Ujjain is an 18th-century observatory established by Savai Raja Jay Singh, featuring vintage astronomical devices like the Samrat Yantra and Digansha Yantra. This historical site serves as an equinoctial sundial, aiding in time detection and celestial body positioning. It stands as evidence of Ujjain's long-standing reputation as an educational hub.
Jantar Mantar in Ujjain is an ancient astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It is one of five such observatories in India, designed for precise astronomical measurements. The site features large stone instruments used to observe celestial movements, measure time, and predict eclipses. Notable instruments include the Samrat Yantra and the Nadi Valaya Yantra. Ujjain’s Jantar Mantar holds historical importance as it lies on the Tropic of Cancer and was a key center for Hindu astronomical studies. Visitors often appreciate its architectural brilliance and the scientific knowledge it reflects. It's an intriguing destination for history and astronomy enthusiasts.

Very good scenes in this place. I was very delighted to see the view here. Here the traditional clock and time which has been in existence since the Vedic period is known with complete accuracy. Please come here once with your family.
Prince S — Google review
If you are planning to visit Jantar Mantar (Vedh Shala) after Mahakaleshwar Darshan, it is quite convenient because the observatory is located at a short distance from the temple. After completing your darshan at Mahakaal, you can simply take an auto-rickshaw from outside the temple premises. Normally, the distance is around 2 km, and it hardly takes 10–15 minutes to reach, but autos in Ujjain generally charge a minimum of ₹100, even for short distances. If you are walking, it will take about 20–25 minutes through the narrow streets. The Jantar Mantar is open during the day and is managed by the Archaeological Survey of India. The entry fee is very nominal, usually around ₹10 for Indian visitors and a little more for foreign tourists and ₹ 20 for Tara Mandal. Once inside, you can explore the unique astronomical instruments built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the 17th century. Guides are also available, and they explain how these instruments were used to calculate time, predict eclipses, and study planetary movements with surprising accuracy long before modern technology. For travelers who are already in Ujjain for Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Darshan, a visit to Jantar Mantar makes the trip more fulfilling, as it connects spirituality with India’s scientific heritage. Since both attractions are close, you don’t need separate travel arrangements

Reasonably priced, easy atmosphere and great place. Integrating western and Vedic culture it amply showcases our unique knowledge of planets, motion and calendar. Few boards are discoloured. Caves are ok. They are very small. Do not rush into the caves when lot of people are there. It get a bit suffocating when too many people. Be patient and wait for your turn. The more calm and composed you are the more fun you will have.

Bhartrihari Gufa (Caves) is a famous spiritual and historical site in Ujjain, associated with the great sage Maharishi Bhartrihari, the elder brother of King Vikramaditya of Ujjain. He became a disciple of Guru Gorakhnath (Nath sect) and spent the rest of his life in meditation in these caves. Inside, there are small shrines dedicated to Bhartrihari, Guru Gorakhnath, and other Nath yogis. The atmosphere is peaceful, attracting saints, sadhus, and devotees throughout the year. Around 3–4 km from Mahakaleshwar Temple.

Bhartrihari Gufa (caves) in Ujjain is a sacred cave complex on the shores of the River Kshipra, named after the legendary King Bhartrihari who is said to have meditated there for 12 years after renouncing his kingdom. The site features traditional rock-cut architecture, a tomb (samadhi) of the sage, a dhuni (fire for yoga), and is a peaceful spot for religious and historical tourism, though the narrow passages may not be suitable for everyone.

The ancient cave structure stands as a testament to the lives of people in the past, before the development of modern construction technologies. Under what circumstances did one of the great emperors encounter Saint Goraknath, receive his blessings, and learn valuable lessons about the superiority of a yogi's power, which encompasses the ability to both kill and give life, unlike the limitations of a king's authority?

MAHESH P — Google review
A famous temple in Kotasur village, Birbhum, West Bengal.
Subir B — Google review
In my opinion it's not at all a mandir first of all. It's a natural rock formation, kind of a cave. It is situated at least or more than 500 feet from ground level of Banswara. After a very steep climb one reaches to this place. Good part is that vehicles like truck or bus can even reach easily just upto this mandir. So they actually created or build some construction just to cover those natural mountains and made it a lord Shiv mandir. It's on the Banswara-Ratlam Road near Kagdi pickup outside the city. This mandir or natural cave can not be judged from outside while on the road. When one reaches infront of the Shivling mandir, only then the real beauty of the nature can be felt. The construction again is in several different parts at different intervals of time. While i was there i saw nearby parts of mountain being broken so as to make proper construction. Other part of construction include, accommodation for those living at mandir promises and much more. Overall a very beautiful place to hang out, relaxing, happy moments or just peace of mind. They have tried to make garden and green place as the surrounding itself is of that kind, forest area. Overall extremely cosy place to hang out. Neat and clean. Do visit once with your family, friends, or loved ones.

There is a temple of Goddess Tripura Sundari known as Tartai Mata here, which has beautiful idol of black stone having 18 hands each carrying a symbol, while the Goddess is seen riding a tiger. The exact date of construction of this temple is not known, it is said to have been built before Samrat Kanishka, who ruled here. It is one of the ‘Shakti Peeths’ of the Hindus Mother Tripura Sundari is revered in Matabadi in the small village of Umrai, in the lap of dense greenery under the high Raul ranges, at a distance of only 5 kilometers from Talwara village, about 14 kilometers from Banswara in Rajasthan. It is said that earlier there were three forts around the temple. Due to being situated in these three puris named Shaktipuri,
