Neyyar wildlife sanctuary has boating service along with elephant visits, deer visits, crocodile visits. Ticket fare is 100rs per adult. It's a very good view through the boat. The park has 2 elephants of one male and one female, lot of deers and you can see monkeys too. There will be guide who guides you and also convey all the information regarding park and animals. In the area where crocodiles are placed, has a python too. Each crocodiles are kept in separate cage. When you move forward you can go to the neyyar dam. A watch tower, dam, children's park, aquarium, swimming pool are provided. As all those near by, it will be a good spot.

Nice place situated near to Neyyar dam. We visited after rainy season so that there was water in the reservoir. There is no lion safari now. It is closed and there are no lions now. Picturesque views. We could able to see parts of hills from agastyarkoodam, kurishumala etc. There were three packages available. We took package-1 which covers deer park,crocodile park,elephants (1 big and 1 young one) and boating for 1 hour at 2900/-. Guides were there inorder to provide the information all the time. Boating was so good with panoramic views. Only 2-3 crocodiles are there in the crocodile park. We have to walk through a small narrow forest path unordered to see the deer park which was nice. We heard from one of the employee that all the lions are dead so that they have to shut down the safari. Earlier at a point, there were 16 male lions and it was difficult to feed them. And there were no profit from the sanctuary also. So one doctor approved for the sterilization procedure which made them infertile. It was a sad story.

The boat ride across the reservoir adds a touch of adventure, taking you to the Lion Safari Park and Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre. While these spots may not be high-end, they offer a raw and unique experience, especially for families or first-time visitors. Neyyar isn’t about grand sights or adrenaline; it’s about pausing, watching, and breathing. It’s best visited on a weekday for a quieter experience. There are limited food options, so carrying your own snacks and water is a good idea. If you’re looking for a simple, refreshing day surrounded by nature, Neyyar Dam is well worth a visit. During monsoon this place offers a completely different experience than that of the summer. Facilities are mostly minimal and the central view tower definitely needs some better management. Also thats the same situation of the parks, can be maintained well, with proper land management and maintenance. If you are someone who enjoys a view its a great place. There is also a KTDC restaurant right next to the dam. I hope they have accommodation facilities too as they had a decent menu. Prices seemed reasonable and can be subjective. There is also an aquarium that has a ton of fish species, and there are some giants too, giants in a sense as if they weigh over 50kgs. It has a seperate ticket counter. I believe it was the first fish aquarium in india or asia. The lighting and interior ambience during monsoon is very dull and moody, but i hope it will be better during the summer. The structure is also comparatively better considering a public building, its not great in terms of aesthetics but is definitely good in terms of flow, movement and exhibit placement. I liked that one. It also has some huge ponds outside the building close to its perimeter that has some large koi fishes. Overall a good place for a one day trip, and it’s always better to visit and leave early. Check with the authorities for official timings.

Agasthiyar falls are on the way from Papanasam temple to the dam area. One has to walk 500 m to get to the falls from the parking area. Most of the people going there take a bath in the falls. A separate bathing area and dress changing facility is provided for women. Overall a nice picnic spot. It was good but they allow only up to 5 pm. Overall it was nice place to spend some time. Water was clean and there is a special Siva temple which should be visited... the water falls was not a very big one. separate bathing area for gents and ladies.ladies crowd also large and ladies area also small. for gents it quite large and crows also less. the area not so neat.weekends will be crowded.water flow was good when we went on august.the road from papanasam checkpost will be narrow and hilly.probablity of trafiic jam during weekend is very high. we had 2 hours of jam. beware of monkey. only two small hotels are there near the falls. during break fast they serve poori and idly and lunch only tomotto rice and curd rice. dont miss kalyana theertham the path way is not neat. but the view point is good and temple above is very divine.

The main Deity of the temple is Sri Mahaganapathy (Ganesha). The original Idol was maintained by The Nair Brigade initially at Padmanabhapuram and later when they were shifted to Thiruvananthapuram they installed the Idol and the current temple came into being. After the integration of the Travancore army with the Indian Forces, the temple is being maintained by the Indian Army. The main Vazhipadu (Offering) in the temple is the breaking of coconuts at the temple.

There is dress code for men and women. Men should wear dhotis and for womens saree or lehenga. Kurti is also not allowed but you can wear dhoti over it as a skirt. At entrance dhoti is available. You can buy it from there. The queue was really long. But you can enjoy the temple architecture during the queue. The queue management was good. Drinking water facility was there.

There are quite a lot of activities around the area too, so there’s always something to do without it feeling crowded or chaotic. Overall, a great spot in Thiruvananthapuram to relax and enjoy the shoreline. Highly recommended!

It has a good variety of animals including tigers, lions, elephants, reptiles, and birds. The surroundings are shaded and peaceful, making it pleasant for families and children. Entry is affordable, and electric carts are available for visitors. However, some enclosures are small, a few animals seem inactive, and the food stalls or cart services can be slow on crowded days. The zoo can get very busy on weekends and holidays, and animals are less active in the afternoon heat. Overall: A clean, scenic, and affordable place worth visiting—best enjoyed in the morning or evening when it’s cooler and less crowded.

Went on a weekday. No so much crowded, but yes it's a tourist place so there'll be crowd especially on Sundays. The ticket price google mentioned (200/-) is dfor foreigners and the ticket price for Indians is only 40(for adults). I only support zoo when they can provide better facilities for animals that they can't get them on forest. But I'm not sure about here, because most of the animals are always lay down like they don't have enough health, especially the lion,tiger & cheetah(pythons too). It seems they can barely walk. On the other hand the bear,deer, and hippos seems pretty healthy. So I'm not sure, maybe it's the time I went there. The main problem is you can't clearly see most of the birds, I'm not sure till why they don't use glasses for clear visibility rather than the small grill, that you can barely see them. The white tiger was a suprise and he/she/they/them whatever was actually stunning. Most of the cages were empty (I'm actually glad for that). A 20 min walk through a"made up jungle" is actually good. The staffs always clean the place but be careful of the tree branch. The snakes non of them are even moving, I'm not sure if they alive or not for some reason. Anyway yeah as I mentioned earlier if you can provide better facilities for animals yes it's a good initiative. Unless it's cruelty.

You can see lions, tigers, crocodiles, and many exotic birds. It’s a peaceful escape in the city and a great spot to spend a few hours enjoying nature and wildlife. Perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers who love animals and quiet walks. Entrance is 200 rupees. I went to this zoo hoping to see an elephant, but there wasn't one there.

The zoo was decent but had a limited variety of animals. The deer and porcupine enclosures were quite crowded, making it hard to get a good view. Some of the reptiles were not present. The layout could be better managed for visitor flow. Kids still enjoyed spotting the few animals around. Overall, an average experience that could improve with better space and crowd management. The entry fee for family is ₹100.

Zoo is good. Enjoy for picnic or one day fun. Must visit nearby locations like palace and museum, located within one KM. Restaurant and washroom and and Shop available inside the campus and nearby. Easily available auto for this place or for go to outside. Greenery is superb and all three locations are fantastic for photoshoot. You can also enjoy fish aquarium located in this area.

One sincere request to the Govt of Tamilnadu is to introduce english too in name boards as people who can't read Tamil gets confused seeing the same Sivalinga in many locations. Visited Arulmigu Kasi Viswanathar Temple and it was wonderful. The tall Gopuram and beautiful carvings are stunning. The temple is peaceful and a large space area with neat and clean maintaining atmosphere. It's a great place to visit for anyone who loves history, spirituality, or just wants to experience something beautiful. Everyone visiting courtallam and nearby areas must visit this temple.

This was my 2nd visit after 11 years. Not changed much. A simple temple. Good architecture not great like tanjavur. But still it is an important temple in the region.

Every time in upstairs when I see the majestic gopuram, it feels truly divine. When we enter the temple , the air itself seems to welcome us with a sacred energy. The darshan of the Shiva Lingam is so powerful that it brings goosebumps & tears to the eyes. A must visit temple that fills the heart with devotion and peace.

I had a truly wonderful and peaceful experience visiting the Kaasi Viswanathar Temple. I traveled all the way from Kerala to experience this sacred place, and it was absolutely worth the journey. The atmosphere within the temple complex is incredibly serene and calming. It offers a beautiful retreat from the hustle and bustle outside, providing a genuinely good and peaceful environment for prayer and reflection. The architecture and the spiritual energy are deeply moving. If you are in the area, this temple is an absolute must-visit. A must visit Temple when visiting Tenkasi, A peaceful and delightful experience visiting this 🛕. The surroundings of this temple also was neat and well maintained when we visited. The only issue we found here was the provision for parking, we must be lucky enough to find a spot. Tenkasi is built around the Kasi Viswanathar temple. The temple has a seven-tiered gopuram (temple tower) and has concentric granite walls that enshrines all the shrines in the temple. The temple has a pillared hall from the entrance leading to the flagstaff hall. The sanctum is located axial to the entrance facing east. The image of Kasi Viswanathar in the form of lingam is housed in the sanctum. The images of Vinayaka and Subramanya are located on either side of the hall leading to the sanctum

truly a beautiful spot to visit. The surroundings are calm with a cool breeze that refreshes the mind. There’s plenty of parking space, and the adult entry ticket is ₹70. It’s best to visit on normal days, as weekends and holidays can get very crowded. Private vehicles are not allowed near the falls since it’s a forest area, but the office provides shuttle buses (two are available) to take visitors from the parking area to the waterfall. The staff and security are very friendly and helpful—one security officer even helped us take pictures. There are small shops nearby for tea and snacks, and clean bathrooms are also available. Bathing at the waterfall is comparatively safe, and steps are provided to climb up for better views and photos. Payments are cashless, so only UPI or cards are accepted. Overall, it’s a well-maintained place and worth visiting. The best time to go is early in the morning. The falls open at 8 AM.

We recently visited Palaruvi Waterfalls, and it was an amazing experience! From the ticket counter, it’s about a 3 km ride to the falls, and visitors are taken there by the park’s bus service since private vehicles aren’t allowed. The waterfall offers a stunning view, and bathing in the cool, refreshing water was truly enjoyable. There are changing rooms available for women, which is very convenient. The area does have quite a few monkeys, so it’s best to keep an eye on your belongings and avoid taking food outside. The place wasn’t too crowded, making it perfect for a peaceful trip with family or friends.

A must-visit natural wonder! Palaruvi Waterfall is truly one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kerala. The name “Palaruvi” means “Stream of Milk,” and it perfectly describes the white, misty flow of the water. The journey through the forest is scenic, peaceful, and full of greenery. The water is cool and refreshing — perfect for a quick dip! The place is well-maintained with separate areas for families and ladies to bathe safely. There’s also a small parking area, restrooms, and a ticket counter managed by the forest department. The best time to visit is during or right after the monsoon when the waterfall is in full flow.

Superb waterfalls, worth spending time with family. Very fresh water, fresh air, and great natural scenery. Well-maintained by the Kerala Government, which helps save nature. More crowds on weekends. We can reach the water falls through the forest department bus only, they charge Rs.70/- for each person. At the ticket counter, they only accept digital payments (UPI/card)

Paal means milk and aruvi means waterfalls .A Refreshing experience worth the travel. This is located in Kerala and very well maintained(Unlike the several badly maintained falls in Tamilnadu). To protect our environment, Plastic Bottles and eatables are not allowed.The vehicle by which we travel has to be parked and all visitors need to travel 2 to 3 kms in the Forest department buses which is mandatory. The staff were very courteous as we waited in the queue and were making us comfortable. The view was stunning but involved climbing a path ! Can't bathe directly under the strong flow . A small area where we can take a dip in the cool, flowing waters was very refreshing !

Nice place to visit, Well maintained by the Kerala Forest Department. Friendly staff in guiding us too. Amble parking space. The transportation arranged is also good. The only drawback I saw here is the wait till me for transportation when we return back. People coming in groups keep on coming at different times and these people kept on entering in between the queues increasing the waiting times of the people already waiting there ,.especially the elder people and people with kids . I would humbly request deploying more staff on thr waiting area to avoid such situations, so as to ensure the smooth functioning of this tourist place.

One of the divine and nearest temple in varkala. Also 2000years old. At the temple entrance, small pond is available. The water is refreshing, & even spotted a little turtle. The temple was neat, clean, and maintained with care. While it looked like many other traditional temples as well. It was quite hot during my visit, For Gents - The shirts and inner baniyan to be removed due to temple customs. The god looked unique from others. It was an pleasant moment but it stayed out for more than half an hour because of prasadham offering for the god.

Some of highlights - - Vishnu Ji Murti is so beautiful and different - the number of diyas lit in the evening are just amazing - and to top it up there is Gajraj ji (elephant) in the temple complex 😍. Few tips - Try to go in night around 6:30 as diyas are lit that time , you can also help in that - In Mandir main compex you have to remove the shirt /tshirt

A lady told me to remove it,possibly due to temple customs.

LOVE THE PLACE. I love visiting this place every now and then—the whole place issa vibe. Everything you need is on the cliff, from food to clothes to antiques, you name it. I bought a bunch of antique stuff on my last visit. There are honestly so many shops selling antiques, jewellery, clothes, and all kinds of random things. But here’s a tip: don’t jump at the first price they tell you. You can usually bargain and get things for a much better deal. Also, the same item might be in a bunch of different shops, so take a walk around before buying anything. There are so many—literally so many—cafés and restaurants up there. But don’t just go with the Instagram hype. Do a bit of research or explore on your own, because there are a lot of great spots apart from the usual “Instagram-approved” places. A coffee while taking in a glimpse of the beach, or sipping a cocktail with the sea view, is a must if you ask me. The views from the cliff are just stunning, especially during sunset when the sky goes crazy with colours. It does get crowded in the eve. People chilling, music playing from cafés, and the sea breeze it all feels perfect. If you’re in Varkala, the cliff is definitely a must-visit.

Certainly one of the best beach, having a great cliff connecting through another beach and having all restaurants/cafés and shops over the cliff. Must recommend the morning walk through the cliff and have a great sight during sunrise. For party ppl Evening time is great fun.

It is a beautiful beach. It has got peace and calm ambience. Where you can sit peacefully, and you can listen, the sounds of the waves. moreover, you will be having less crowd and compatible with Cherai and Cochin Beach. I have been there along with my family enjoyed a lot that too during night time it was very pleasant to hear the song. It is one of the decent features I have ever seen.

The Varkala Beach does not allow people to bathe in the water. The beach is always crowded but it very closely to the stays. The beach is in walking distance of 3 to 5 KM only. It is the most unique Beaches in Southern part of India. The views from cliff is Stunning. It is well known for its lively atmosphere with many cafes and restaurants along the cliff, catering to visitors. After sunset, it's possible to witness bioluminescence, an aquamarine glow in the water, making for a magical experience. Swimming is not always not safe due to strong currents, so visitors are advised to be cautious and not allowed during season time. It's Good place to relax and unwind. But the food is costly and I don't highly recommend.

Varkala Beach is quite overrated and usually very crowded. Most of the time, access to the beach was restricted, so we could only watch the sunset. However, the sunset view itself is truly mesmerizing. The beach is easily accessible, with plenty of buses running on this route from the railway station. There are also several nearby beaches that are less crowded and have fresher water.

One-of-a-kind place! Truly worth visiting. The Jatayu sculpture is massive and a real piece of art. However, a few improvements can make the experience much smoother: • Ticketing system needs restructuring — more ticket counters are required, and there should be a proper waiting area downstairs as well or online tickets. • AC in the waiting areas needs better cooling, especially considering the crowd and weather. • Cable car safety can be improved. It should fully stop for tourists to get in and out; stepping off while it’s moving feels unsafe. • Clear instructions should be displayed at the entrance so visitors know the rules beforehand, especially since food and water are not allowed inside. • Refreshment counters need better cooling, more options, and water dispensers. • Photos for purchase look overly edited or AI-generated; more natural edits or original prints, especially with the Jatayu structure in the background, would be much better. • Souvenirs missing — fridge magnets or Jatayu-themed items would be great additions. Overall, it’s a great experience with a lot of potential to become even better!

Jatayu Earth Center in Kerala is known for its massive sculpture of the mythical bird Jatayu, placed on a rocky hilltop. Visitors can reach the top either by cable car or by walking up the pathway. The hilltop area can get quite hot during sunny hours, so carrying an umbrella or cap is advisable. At the top, there is a small water area and a shop for basic refreshments. A temple is also located near the sculpture, adding a peaceful touch to the visit. The viewpoint offers good spots for photography, making it suitable for families, friends, and solo travelers. Overall, it is a place where visitors can comfortably spend time exploring the sculpture, views, and surroundings.

It is maintained by a non government organisation/ private organisation. Well maintained property. Beautiful scenic surroundings view. Plastic Water bottles and eatables are not allowed. Free water is available everywhere. Amount paid 555₹ per person including entry ticket and cable car ticket. Second option of 325₹ was available for who wish to climb 826 steps almost 1km elevation. Please note that full ticket is applicable for people with more than 90 cm height including children. They take your photo at start which is available at 260₹ per copy or 210₹ for multiple soft copies at 1st floor. 1st floor has some small food counters along with children play area. Jatayu sculpture is beautiful with in detailed carvings. Small Lord Rama temple is situated upstairs. Devotees can see the foot step of Lord Rama backside of this temple. Overall fantastic experience.

Worth visiting the place when you are in trivandrum, Varkala or Kollam. The opening time is as mentioned on the site, it's exactly at 10AM. The ticketing system could have been little hassle free. They have one ticketing window at the ground level, this makes the process way slow. And also I don't find a reason of having another ticketing window at upper level to decide cable car or walking track. Most of the time I feel the cable car may not operate because of heavy wind in the area, so keep in mind. However I felt it was blessing in disguise to get our cable car got cancelled because of harsh weather and we could take a nice walk among the nature, it's just a km of climb. The management has arranged all necessary facilities like drinking water and toilets in all levels. The ticketing from online is fraud, there is a strict warning at the entrance to avoid online ticketing. The management does not allow any big bag, plastic items including water bottle and sanitizer but at the 1st floor they sell all plastic items which is contradicting to their policy.

I had an amazing time visiting Jatayu Earth Centre. The entire experience felt so well crafted especially the background music inspired by Indian history. It was incredibly soothing to the ears and added a beautiful depth to the whole ambience. During my visit, the museum was closed, possibly due to ongoing construction work, so I couldn’t explore that part. But the view from the Jatayu rock more than made up for it absolutely stunning and worth the climb. Overall, it’s a place everyone should visit at least once in their life. Truly a memorable experience

One of the oldest lighthouses in Kerala, it holds history from the time of the British East India Company. Both an elevator and stairs are available to reach the top. The view from the top is worth the journey and ticket amount of 20rs.😀

Worth a stop on the way up north to Alappuzha for only 20rpi. Worth noting there is a ticket office for the fun park , so make sure you go up the road to the actual light house entry gate. Founded in 1902 this is one of two lighthouses in the Kollam area. After to begin showing cracking in 1930, this lighthouse was strengthened by A.N Seal in 1940. A Historic place in kollam. Well maintained renovated lighthouse. Evening view is mesmerizing. They are charging an entry fee of र20 for adults, र10 for children(3-12) and senior citizens and र50 for foreign citizens. There is an extra fee of र10 for taking photos.You have to keep the footwear outside before entering the lighthouse. Monday is a holiday. There is a children's park in the compound And a small refreshment shop there. Unofficial parking fee is too high that's collected by a lady whose home is near to the lighthouse.

What a beautiful light house it is, with a lift inside to make our effort of walk easy to reach the top. Beautiful view of the whole thamarassery area and kollam. 20rs is the admission fee for one person and 10 extra for using the camera. 10min is allowed maximum if there is rush to spend on the top. Otherwise 10-15 is maximum allowed. Try to take the stairs instead of lift, if you want to burn some calories😜

Awesome views from the top and yes there is an elevator so we has to climb only a few stairs ! The sunset view would be spectacular but it closes at 6 pm .However the walking path also gives a great view .

The view and the feel up top is nothing like you ever seen. Do visit the top they also has elevator installed. You still have to climb some stairs though.

The entry fee is ₹80 per adult, but honestly, the experience doesn’t feel worth the cost. Most of the time, the children’s park inside seems to be closed, so there’s not much for kids to do. There are a few elephants, including a baby, but sadly, they are kept chained — it would be much better if they were presented in a more ethical way. There’s also a small museum, a 3D show, and a shop selling forest products. The place is closed on Mondays, and car parking comes with an extra charge. Overall, the site feels a bit run-down and could really benefit from improvements to enhance both the visitor experience and the well-being of the animals.

I visited Konni Eco Tourism Centre recently. The place is naturally beautiful and has good potential for eco-tourism, but honestly, I felt it is not maintained as well as it should be. Some areas looked neglected, and with proper care the place could be much more attractive. Parking is available near the entrance (₹15 for two-wheelers, ₹40 for cars), which is convenient. However, the entry fee (₹80 for adults) feels a bit high compared to what is currently offered inside. For the amount they charge, visitors expect better facilities, cleaner surroundings, and more engaging activities. It is still a peaceful spot to spend some time in nature, but in my opinion, it doesn’t feel fully worth the ticket price. With better upkeep and a little more attention to detail, this centre could definitely become a top eco-tourism destination. NB: Only card or GPay is accepted at the ticket counter

A place which holds historical values in elephant nursing. But this place now looks unprotected without proper care. Many staffs but not maintaining properly. No baby elephant, they charge 80 per person which doesn’t make any value inside.

The queue is extremely long — it takes around 8 to 9 hours to reach the temple. If you are going with children or elderly people, it can be very dangerous because of the huge crowd. The security and police don’t seem to take much control, and most areas are so dirty that you can’t even place your feet comfortably. Once you enter the queue, you cannot step out or find a place to sit. If it rains, the situation becomes even worse — the ground gets messy and unhygienic. I personally waited for more than 8 hours, surviving only on a little water and a few biscuits. If there’s an emergency or someone needs to use the toilet, it’s almost impossible to leave the line. Seeing this made me question whether God truly exists here, because the place feels so unholy and inhumane. It literally felt like hell — plastic and garbage are scattered everywhere along the path. While the pathway itself is decent, people keep littering despite there being waste bins around. So, the problem isn’t with the government or the Devaswom Board, but with people’s mindset. Even though this temple is in the middle of a forest, people pollute it on their way to see God. It feels like the place has become more about business than devotion. We must remember — if there is any God, it’s within us, and only people can make a change, not any divine being.

Sabarimala is the sacred abode of swamy ayyappan and is situated on a hilly forest terrain in ranni perunad village in pathanamthitta district. This is the only temple in our country having a pincode 689713. Sabarimala is administered by atheists is a disgrace. Legendary belief is that after the victory over the demon, lord ayyappa meditated at sabarimala and attained moksha thus transforming this place as spiritual destination and worshipping here is highly auspicious. The holy eighteen sacred steps pathinettam padi is the main stairway to the temple. Here swamy ayyappa is placed gracefully in a beautiful sanctum sanctorum with dwarapalakas. Acknowledging the traditional importance and to adapt contemporary sensibilities temple is opened for five days every month. Main pilgrimage season is the mandala makara vilakku from november to january for sixty seven days. During the year temple will be opened for certain festival days also for a short period. Pilgrimers observe 41 days celibacy as customary principle for darshan to this temple. As part of custom womens of menstruating ages will not go for darshan. Without any dress code devotees themselves wear black or blue coloured shirts and dhotis. Here devotees address each other as 'ayyappa' or "swamy" and not by their names. Pilgrimers wear a thulasi bead carry a sacred bunch called as irumudi packed with cloth pouch filled with dried rice, ghee filled coconut, arcenut, jaggery, betel, coin, kadali pazham. Irumudi can be packed at pamba ganapathy temple. Atfirst to reach near nilackal for parking and by state transport bus to pampa. All trek barefoot towards sannidhanam from pamba which is the commonly preferred route. Some prefer other traditional trek routes such as erumeli kalaketti pampa and vandiperiyar sathram pulmedu sannidhanam. After wetting feet in the pampa river take darshan in pampa ganapathy temple and start trekking towards sannidhanam on the stone tiled paths passing through the divinely significant places such as sabaripeedam, pandithavalam, cheriyanavattam, neelimala, apachimedu and atlast reach sannidhanam. Those disabled can avail the dolly services. Free food at pamba and sannidhanam available but is conducted in a disgraceful manner. Those with irumudi kettu are only allowed pathinettam padi access. Devotees can offer for various rituals such as neyyabhishekam, ashtabhishekam, kalasabhishekam, kalabhabhishekam, pushpabhishekam which is also not systematically organized. Aravana and appam available as prasadam but commercialized. Common devotees are put to much hardship and maximum sufferings kept waited for long hours in long ques and are pulled out inhumanly before sopanam without enabling a small glimpse of the lord. Only bigwigs entourage found given undue privileges enabling smooth darshan. Moreover contributions of devotees seems not properly utilized for devotee friendly infrastructure improvements as the pilgrim facilities found inadequate in nilackal, pamba, erumeli and sannidhanam. Online bookings for darshan and accommodations handled unprofessionally. Being a globally revered divine destination sabarimala lacks professionalism and transparency in administration as it requires a separate devaswam and at the helm a IAS officer.

The powerful and soulful Vanchippattu (boat songs) sung by the rowers created an electrifying atmosphere and gave me goosebumps. It felt like stepping into a living tradition that has been carried forward for centuries. The pine forest with its mighty old trees was picture perfect. You should visit this place in early monsoon and late monsoon. The way the moss covers the tree trunks are something out of a fairy tale. The place has a mystic sense of beauty and adventure. The parking is wheelchair accessible but that's it. The minute you step into the forest you gotta be able to trust your legs and lungs. The climb down is easy and fun, you could go all the way down to see the creek that flows gently right beneath. But the climb back up is bound to break those sweat glands and give your lungs a run for their money. But don't let that keep you away from its beauty. As they say, the most beautiful places require the hardest climbs.

Pine valley forest as it is known and called is located on the right side the road when you are nearing Vagamon when coming from Elapara. Just after the main gate of Kerala Veterinary and Livestock University is this place. There is a paid parking place or try to park along the left side of the road while coming from Elapara. There is enough parking space on the left side of the road in front of the University campus which is greenery. The entrance fee per adult is Rs. 10/-. You have to walk 200 mtrs from the entrance to reach the pine valley. There are a lot of way side shops where you can buy home made chocolates, sweets, tea dust or tea leaves etc. I suggest buy home made chocolates only after eating a piece as most of the these chocolates are not at all sweet. Mostly good for diabetes people as it is not sweet but can be eaten with the feeling it is chocolate. Inside the pine trees campus you have to walk down the hill fully covered with pine trees and so can stay out of the sun rays and heat. Better to visit during afternoon if you are on a one day tour as it gives relief from the hot sun which you experience visiting the Vagamon meadows and Thangalpara etc. If you are visiting Vagamon on a one day tour or plan to leave Vagamon via Elapara towards the end of the day I advice to visit Pine Valley towards the end of the sightseeing as from pine valley you can leave directly to Elapara. There is a Kudumbasree Hotel at the entrance of pine valley where you can get homely food at moderate prices. Happy sightseeing

Good place to visit. Pleasant climate once we enter the forest. Steep and uneven pathway to walk. That's a small difficulty for some people. Else good place for photography. Lot of shops from entrance till forest. We can have snacks, buy things for kids and adults and much more.

Vagamon Pine Forest is a region with acres occupied by magnificent Pine trees thriving in the environment on steep slopes which is very unique to the region. This man-made forest was created during the British era and today also it is standing tall and beautiful. Even at noon, when the sun is very strong, the heat of sun does not penetrate and keeps the land very cool. It is worth taking some time to relax in the middle of pine trees enjoying the cool weather

My visit to Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple was a truly peaceful and blessed experience. The temple has a calm and divine atmosphere that instantly fills your mind with devotion. I visited on a weekday, and since it wasn’t crowded, I was able to pray peacefully and spend some quiet time in the temple premises. The temple is well-maintained, with beautiful traditional Kerala-style architecture and a serene ambiance. Everything is neat and clean, and the entire area gives a sense of purity and calmness. One of the main attractions here is the famous Ambalapuzha Palpayasam (sweet rice pudding), which is renowned all over Kerala for its divine taste and long-standing tradition. On normal days, each person usually receives about 1 litre of Palpayasam, but on rush days or during festivals, the quantity is reduced to 500 ml per person. If you’re planning to get the Palpayasam, it’s good to know the timing: Receipt distribution starts around 10:00 AM. Palpayasam distribution begins only at 12:30 PM. It’s best to reach early, get your receipt, and then collect the Palpayasam once distribution starts. The process is organized, but reaching early helps avoid long queues. However, during my visit, I noticed some issues in the distribution process. I waited in the queue for nearly three hours, and during that time, I observed that the distribution was not handled equally. Some people seemed to get their Palpayasam receipt easily because they knew the staff, and a few even appeared to have reserved their share by calling someone inside. This kind of favoritism and queue-skipping is disappointing to see, especially in a sacred place where everyone should be treated equally. In other temples like Guruvayur, the system is much fairer — devotees take the receipt and receive their prasadam in proper order. I truly hope the Ambalapuzha temple authorities look into this issue, as a temple should always uphold equal justice and opportunities for all devotees, regardless of connections. Overall, my visit was deeply spiritual and refreshing. The peaceful atmosphere, the beauty of the temple, and the divine Palpayasam together make it a memorable experience.

Famous for paal payasam & rituals surrounding various pujas, this is a must visit place. One can book paal payasam in advance or be there in the queue from 12 noon after which it's distributed to general public.

The temple has beautiful traditional Kerala architecture and a calm atmosphere, especially in the early hours. The surroundings are clean and well maintained, and the local devotees are very welcoming. A must-visit spot if you’re in Alleppey for its spiritual and cultural charm.

It’s definitely worth visiting. The place gives vibes similar to Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya. We didn’t get a chance to try the payasam because it was too crowded, but many people say it’s really good.

Visited this waterfall with my family, and it was a lovely experience overall. 🌿 The place is naturally beautiful, and even though the water flow was less during our visit, we could still enter and enjoy the refreshing surroundings. My kid had a great time! However, one area that could be improved is cleanliness — the toilets were not well-maintained. Entry fee is ₹26, which is reasonable for the experience.

A very scenic spot with lots of photographing opportunities. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get in because it was closed due to heavy rains. However, the place seemed to be very beautiful from the outside. There seems to be pathways inside to walk and take pictures in. I will visit another day.

Worst boating stay. They don't turn the AC on till night even if it's hot and humid outside. Horrible food which was served onboard. They didn't even offered salad along with food. No provision of cold drinking water. In name of welcome drinks, offered "Real Juice". It stinks at night as boat remains is stationed at one location. Washrooms weren't clean.

They won't drive full night,1:30 pm they were started,they stopped 1hr for lunch,again started ,they start different business fish market and spa, they all are business traps too cost we should be alert on those, finally they stopped the boat at 5pm near one village again they start tomorrow morning 7am only they drop with in hour near starting point.they provide food through out the journey.this and all are big business behind this ,going day time ship is 100%better.

I visited Alleppey to enjoy this house boat last week. A wonderful experience I have got while on the boat. Foods were prepared in the boat and served by the boatmen. Foods were hot and delicious. Speed boats are available there for thrilling surfing in the lake water. On the way, some shops are having milk, chicken, fish, mutton and more available. Boatmen told me, if you want to eat anything available in the on going shop, purchase on your own cost and we are ready to cook. This is apart from their giving food menu. Also icecreams are available in a small boat wandering around the lake.

Do not book houseboat through ,Kerala houseboat cosy regency Alleppey through goibibo, we came here and shocking is that although we book individual house boat and here after coming they say you have to seat in sharing boat because no individual house boat available at present and if you not seat then your money go waste as we have no option we have to take boat , they ruin our trip, food was not good. Very very bad

The beach has a nice and cool atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot to relax and unwind. The surroundings are calm and peaceful, perfect for spending some leisure time. There are many small shops nearby selling food, ice cream, juices, and snacks, so you’ll never run out of options to munch on. The play areas and leisure spaces are also well-maintained and neatly arranged, making it a good place for families and children. However, there’s a slight fishy smell in beach areas, which can be unpleasant at times. Apart from that, the beach itself is beautiful and offers a refreshing experience overall.

Visited Alappuzha Beach in the evening. It was a very active and lively beach. The weather was beautiful and pleasant when we visited. There are many coffee shops, cake shops,and restaurants located below the pine trees, creating a great vibe. You’ll need to park along the roadside under the N.H. overbridge.It’s a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends. oilet facilities are available, but they are not very clean. 🏖️ A truly beautiful beach with a refreshing atmosphere.

Gorgeous long beach on the Arabian sea... perfect for walking. Big waves. Lots of small stalls/shops along the way.. Jet skiing, quads and speed boat trips on beach.. very cheap approx €6 for jet skiing.

This is one of the most beautiful, serene and less crowded beach I have ever visited. The water is usually quite and it might surprise you with prettiest rainbow in the middle of nowhere as well. We also did a lot of shell hunting and found beautiful sea shells. There are beautiful cafes, small food joints along with the beach. You can visit with your family, friends and your partner and can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere around the beach. Make sure to not litter and be respectful and responsible towards the beach.

Visited at night — the beach was calm, breezy, and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing walk by the waves. However, there’s no proper parking facility, which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, a nice spot to unwind! 🌊

There are plenty of snack shops nearby, so it's convenient if you want a quick bite. It is also a good spot to bring kids and spend some peaceful time. A must-see tourist spot in Kottayam district, the area is surrounded by forests and the ticket price is Rs. 100 per person.There is no parking facility, but the parking fee is extra. You have to walk about 2 kilometers through the forest.There are two watchtowers, the first of which is restricted, but if you climb the second one, you can get a good view of the birds.

Nice walk (around 2km each way) through the trees and wilderness. You can see birds at a distance only when you get to the watchtower at the end of your walk. If you are really interested in bird watching, it is better to go through the backwaters in a boat

Located along the banks of Vembanad Lake in Kerala, this sanctuary is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The weekday visit ensured a peaceful atmosphere with fewer crowds, allowing for an immersive experience in the lush greenery and tranquil surroundings. The highlight was the 2.25 km walk to the watchtower, which is a must for spotting birds. The trail, though moderately long, is well-maintained and offers stunning views of the wetlands, mangroves, and lake. The scenery is breathtaking, with vibrant flora and the calming sound of water and bird calls. I spotted several species, including egrets, herons, kingfishers, and migratory birds, though the variety might depend on the season. The watchtower provides an excellent vantage point for birdwatching, so bring binoculars if you have them. A tip: carry a water bottle, as the walk can feel tiring under the humid Kerala sun, and there are limited facilities along the trail. Wear comfortable shoes and light clothing, and consider sunscreen or a hat. The sanctuary could benefit from more signage about bird species and perhaps a small refreshment stall near the tower. Overall, Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a gem for anyone seeking nature and solitude. The beautiful scenery and diverse birdlife make the trek worthwhile. Highly recommend for a half-day visit! Took the boat ride towards the village. Saw a lot of birds on the way like kingfisher, purple heron, brahmini kite, eagle, cranes, ducks, bee -eater, cormorants, black ibis and darter. The guide was excellent. Boat ride cost is 750rs

Inital walk is okay. The path is not maintained. Walk is about 2km one way. Reaching the 2nd Watchtower requires walking through 500 meters of thick mud and sludge as there is no path to walk. The 1st Watchtower has been closed for 2 years due to damage. The 2nd Watchtower is very rusted and in urgent need of maintenance. Do not attempt walking more than a kilometer in Monsoon. No path after the yellow bamboo bridge Boat ride is good. KTDC needs to maintain this sanctuary urgently. Entry charges are ₹100 and ₹25 for parking.

Visited the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary recently and had a great experience. The entry ticket is ₹100, and the sanctuary closes by 4 PM, so it's best to reach early. The total trail is around 4 km (up and down), so wear comfortable shoes. You can spot a variety of birds,🐦especially from the view tower which offers a great vantage point. The entire area is very eco-friendly and peaceful, surrounded by lush greenery and chirping birds. Ideal for nature lovers, bird watchers, or anyone looking to unwind in a serene environment. Highly recommended if you're visiting Kumarakom❤️

Visited on Chingam (malayalam month 1st day) sunday, so there was huge rush Usually there's puja that starts from 7am & last till 8am so one might experience extreme weight time when visiting. There's 2-3 parking place but might be crowded if visiting during peak hours & weekend day's. Especially morning times. There's lot of history and temple is well maintained. Washroom aren't available.

The moment I stepped inside the temple premises, I could feel the divine energy and blessings of Amme Narayana, Devi Narayana echoing in every corner. The early morning Guruthi Pooja and the chanting of mantras create an atmosphere that touches the soul and brings a deep sense of peace. The temple is beautifully maintained, and the priests perform every ritual with great devotion. I felt a strong spiritual connection as if the Goddess herself was guiding and protecting me. It is believed that Bhagavathi here cures mental and physical ailments, and I truly felt her healing presence. If you are seeking blessings, inner peace, or spiritual strength – this temple is a must-visit. More than just a pilgrimage, it felt like a divine calling. I left the temple with a peaceful heart and renewed spirit.

Such a powerful temple, really loved the place. I reached around 6 AM, and all facilities like dormitory, bathroom, restroom and cloak room are available just nearby. Mobile phones you can keep in silent mode. From 7 to 8 AM, poojai will be going on, so you will have to wait around one hour in the queue.

Dwarapalakas are at the entrance of sanctum sanctorum. In sanctum sanctorum Sree Bhagavathi Amman is about 7 feet tall with 4 hands. The upper hands holds shankha and chalra and lower hands are in abhaya varada hastam. Idol of Mahavishnu made out of Saligrama is on the same pedestal along with Bhagavathi Amman and so the Deity is called Ammenarayana, Devinarayana, Lakshminarayana and Bhadrenarayana also. Along with Lakshmi & Narayana there are idols of Brahma, Siva, Ganapati (Ganesh), Subramanya, and Sastha on the same pedestal. In the thiruchuttambalam /outer praharam Kizhukkavu Bhagavathy temple, Sastha, Siva, Ganapati, Nagas and Kshetrapalakas and other Upa-Devas. Keelakarai Bhagavathy/ Keezhkkavu Bhagavathi Amman temple is about 200 meters from the main temple. Ayyappan temple on the way to the Keelakarai Bhagavathy Amman Temple. ARCHITECTURE The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam, Namaskara mandapam, Nalammbalam, thiruchuttambalam. Sanctum sanctorum is square in plan on a pada bandha adhistanam. The temple was constructed with stone from adhistanam to parastaram. A two tier nagara/ pyramidal Kerala style vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. The namaskara mandapam is with an elevated level platform and pyramidal vimanam. HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS It is believed the original temple belongs to 10th century CE, constructed during Chera period. Since the temple was built with wood, the temple underwent many renovations. The temple received contributions from, Cheras, Pandyas, Venadu, Travancore Kings, etc. KIZHUKKAVU TEMPLE On the eastern side of the temple pond stands the Kizhukkavu temple.The temple faces west (faces Chottanikara Bhagavathi temple). It is believed that the presiding deity was installed by Vilwamangalam Swamiyar. After the Athazha pooja (main pooja in the evening), the chief priest of the principal deity comes to Kizhukkavu to perform the famous and great pooja "ValiyaGuruthy" (great Sacrifice). The Guruthy is prepared in 12 cauldrons (huge vessel) and is performed at about 8.45 p.m every night. Those who witness the guruthy performance, which itself is awe inspiring and prolonged ceremony, finds it an experience which is indescribable. Being present here during Valiya guruthy on Fridays permanently cures women suffering from mental abnormalities like schizophrenia. An ancient 'Pala' tree standing on the northeastern side of the sanctum sanctorum is covered with long iron nails hammered on by haunted victims with their foreheads.
