Castle
Nature & Parks
Vendeuvre is a stunning chateau with beautiful gardens and unique attractions. The large display of miniatures and the jardin du surprises are particularly noteworthy. Despite limited roadside parking, it's a highly recommended destination for a visit. The chateau features superb furnishings, historical small-scale furniture, and delightful automatons in each room. The gardens are described as fantastic and entertaining for both children and adults, with water jet surprises that add to the charm of the place.
A wonderful château, full of curios and a great way to spend a couple of hours. The collection of dog baskets and small kennels is astounding and unusual. The restored kitchen offers a window onto the past. Unfortunately, due to the recent wet weather, the garden was a little boggy, but this didn't take away from the delight of the water-based surprises. Hidden here and there throughout the garden are lots more curios, in keeping with the general theme of the place. I would recommend making the detour to visit this château.

Small but cute castle with a large and absolutely beautiful park which is very well maintained and includes woods and lakes. Perfect place to walk through and switch off. Highly recommended to visit!
Katharina K — Google review
What a hidden gem, the chateau is stunning and my wife especially liked the large display of miniatures. The highlight for me was the gardens. These were fantastic and we spent over an hour walking around enjoying them. The only downside is limited road side parking, but we visited on a Saturday afternoon and there were only half a dozen cars visiting and still some space. Highly recommended.
Andy S — Google review
Extremely interesting and beautiful chateau. We were welcomed and guided round by the count himself who told us about his family history. Everyone will enjoy the surprise garden, especially children.
Ron M — Google review
Lovely privately owned chateau. A remarkable display of miniature interiors. As a group, we were escorted by the count. Must visit the secret garden.
Ron M — Google review
A beautiful home, still in the same family since its origins. The main house has been kept preserved largely as it was when originally built and occupied, and as such is both interesting and worn from the passage of time. The family has done a lot of work to restore the house following WWII, and later the gardens, which are beautiful but also clearly a handful to maintain. Only cash or cheque is accepted for entrance. No cards (though perhaps that was just because the card machine wasn’t working?) and no crypto (yet). And no tea or coffee, or any food, of offered on site. Nor is there any cafe in the nearby village or for a few miles around. We were glad we brought water with us. Having a very basic option of bottled water, tea or coffee, and maybe a small ice cream freezer (if not some home-baked cakes), would be enough to provide for the visitors. But perhaps there are too few visitors to justify this? It’s difficult to know as we were there on the last Sunday before schools go back, and there were very few people in the grounds. Our favourite part of the visit was the grotto and gardens beyond. The surprise water gardens were also very fun. In England many of the old family-owned country estates are run as wedding venues or high-end “for hire” houses. The bones of the properties have been preserved, but the rooms adapted to accommodate guests. It feels like Chateau Vendeuvre could benefit from something along these lines, though that would break from generations of museum-like preservation. And I understand that it takes boldness and courage to break from the traditions our ancestors pursued when they were custodians before us. That said, they would not have felt the same way as us when they started out. They were indeed very bold, and adapted to the style and needs of the day. I wish the family all the best, and thank them for sharing their home and history with us.
Graeme B — Google review
A suprising lovely chateau. The lady at the counter and one of the owners of the property were very kind. Because we were kind of early, they had time to tell some stories about the chateau and the stuff in and around the house. The man played some music while we were there, which added a lovely vibe while exploring the area. As some reviews had said, the garden is full of surprises and looks beautiful. It was a lot larger than I had expected. Great service and lovely furnishing / decoration
Koen K — Google review
What a wonderful surprise! The miniature display at the entrance is the personal collection of Madame. The Chateau itself is wonderfully over charged with 100s of objects on display, the kitchens down stairs is almost in its original state and the gardens are full of surprises. 2hr minimum for the visit.

Military Museums
The Museum and the Merville Battery site is a restored Nazi fortification that now houses a WWII museum with bunkers, a sound & light show, and a C-47 plane. The site also features the Merville Gun Battery, which consisted of four concrete casemates housing 100mm guns threatening British troops at Sword Beach. The museum covers the battery's role in German defenses and the lives of stationed soldiers, as well as the story of Allied soldiers who captured it.
I thought I had done all D Day sites, but this one c was a jewel. I hadn't known about this one. Superb exhibitions and in one blockhouse there was an amazing exponential sound and visual experience of the gun emplacement being attacked. It was so good we went in twice. Great value for the ticket price. A must see place if you are interested in D Day.
Andrew M — Google review
Historic and extremely interesting trip to see the bunkers here. Lots of interesting info and virtual sounds and experiences of how it must have felt for the men who were part of the capture of this battery. You will have the chance to go inside a Dakota Aircraft and experience exactly how it was for the para’s awaiting their drop zone. Prices are available online and can be paid on entry to the museum.
Gail R — Google review
This museum is very interesting and is dog friendly which was great. Fun indoors and outdoors, great exhibits. You should go. However, the mowing/weed whip crew was there when we arrived and was so loud I couldn't really hear the videos and the grass really wasn't very long. I really think the museum should consider contracting for reel type mowers towed by electric vehicles and letting the grass get slightly longer. With scattered wild flowers and reasonably short grass it actually looked better when we arrived than when the mowing crew left.
Nate A — Google review
A real dive into life in a gun battery, lots of exhibits and multimedia explanations. The Dakota is an awesome exhibit and its history absolutely mind blowing. Very reasonably priced and with friendly helpful staff. Dog friendly (on leads of course) which is a bonus when you’re travelling with 3 chihuahuas!
Simon B — Google review
I’ve been guiding Normandy sites for 30 years and this is a definite go to location, take time and do your research to walk the route the paratroopers took to get here. Try to avoid the cruise ship groups so that you can enjoy the site and use the information boards to get the best out of it.
Gary C — Google review
Must visit if you're exploring the eastern front of the Normandy campaign. Tells the story of the paras et al that secured the site at a great loss, along with the pilots that got them there. Exploring C47 Snafu included within the museum entry was a great honour, to strap yourself into original belts and imagine their experience. Fantastic volunteers explained the parachute release mechanism and took time to show us the supply drop release mechanisms. The bunker 1 action experience is well recommended too, it brings the reality of fighting to you and gives some sense of the sensory overload that comes with it. Highly recommend it well done to the curators and staff.

What a place. To understand what happened here is incredible. Well worth a visit. We were there 3.5hrs. There's a lot to see and read. Real heros dont wear capes, they wear a parachute and a maroon beret.

Factory Tours
Located in a small town in the Pays d'Auge, Graindorge E Fromagerie is a cheese shop that specializes in producing Livarot and Pont-lEveque cheeses. The shop offers tours of the cheese factory where you can learn about how these cheeses are made. You can also sample the cheeses and purchase them for take-away.
A wonderful free short self guided tour of the cheese factory. The children and adults enjoyed watching informative videos and seeing the cheese being made live. This can be followed up with a range of cheese tasting options at an additional cost. We shared ours between two and this was plenty. The cheese was so good!!! Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Laurence B — Google review
A surprisingly extensive exhibition that takes you right through the cheese-making process — literally through the factory. You walk in a glass tunnel between rooms where the magic happens. Tasting included, of course. The shop at the end is dangerously tempting, with a massive selection of Norman cheeses. Educational, tasty, and slightly risky if you're weak around Camembert style cheese. :)
Michael N — Google review
Very nice free self-guided tour, with free tasting! It's worth it if you are visiting Camembert area! Much better tour than the ones you have to pay for at Camembert! And you can see the whole cheese production live!
Natasa B — Google review
Visiting E. Graindorge Fromagerie was one of the highlights of my trip to Normandy. The interactive presentation was truly impressive—well-designed, engaging, and incredibly informative. It offered a rare opportunity to see the entire cheese-making process up close, from the milk to the final product, with plenty of insights into the craftsmanship behind each stage. What stood out most to me was how beautifully the experience celebrated Norman tradition. You can feel the pride and heritage in every detail, from the historical displays to the stories of local farmers and cheesemakers. It’s clear that this isn’t just about producing cheese—it’s about preserving and sharing a regional identity that has been passed down for generations. Whether you’re a cheese enthusiast or simply curious about local culture, this is an experience not to be missed. And of course, the tasting at the end is the perfect way to bring it all together—delicious and authentic!
Codruț P — Google review
Interesting place to visit to see how different kinds of cheese are produced locally at the factory. From one side the place is very touristic - groups are coming by busses one after another. From the other side the place is organized very efficiently to allow for such a flow of tourists. The visit is free, because at the end you exit via factory store selling all kinds of cheese they produce, as well as many other items (targeted to touristic purchase habits). The tour itself is very informative, with explanations (in French language only!) and allows a pick at the production areas where you see factory employees busy at various stages of cheese production. Worth a visit if you're nearby.
Arie R — Google review
Excellent visitor experience. Free to enter the comprehensive cheese museum. There are viewing platforms to see the cheese being made. Translation in English and German. Restaurant and gift shop at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Antony L — Google review
A nice museum/factory to visit; good for groups and families (even with small children). It’s free to visit, and the tour doesn’t take long. Most signs and plaques are bilingual (French-English), the videos have English subtitles, and at the beginning of the tour are resources in a number of different languages. We learned a lot from the tour and enjoyed seeing the different cheese-making processes. At the end of the tour, in the shop, you can sample the cheeses. The only aspect that I think could be improved would be to make a tasting an official part of the tour. You learn so much about the different cheeses in the museum, but it’s difficult to remember the particularities when you’re just quickly sampling cheeses in the shop. It would be nice to have a tasting with a museum guide offering explanations of each cheese and recalling the information presented during the tour. Of course there are employees in the store who are knowledgeable about the products and would be able to answer questions, but you don’t exactly want to monopolize their time when there are so many other customers in the store.
Marisa B — Google review
The farm has a fabolous touristic circuit, museum and production facility and ahop. It is free, we really enjoyed it. The ice cream we bought was a great extra!

A beautiful sandy beach. There is a wonder front built 100yrs ago and classic art deco. It is well patrolled, and beach rules are enforced, i.e., no alcohol or glass allowed. Bring your own parasol would a good idea

Nice sandy beach with plenty of shells. There are signs along the shore that advise against swimming but some people still swim until patrols tell them to leave. Horses frequently use the beach so there is often manure which is off putting.

The Basilica of Saint Therese of Lisieux, a major Catholic pilgrimage site, was constructed from 1929 to 1951 and features an interior adorned with ornate mosaics and marble. The basilica is dedicated to Saint Therese of Lisieux and can accommodate up to 4,000 people. It is the second largest pilgrimage site in France, drawing over two million visitors annually. The church houses the relic of St.
Basilica was closed when we got there. We went too early. Check the schedule before going. We only saw the surroundings and not the inside. We couldn't stay longer due to our structured schedule. We were a big group of pilgrims and needed to keep our schedules. Hopefully, we can return in the future🙏. You can also visit the Chapel of St. Therese, which is a few miles away from the Basilica.

What a glorious memorial to her this glorious building is . I could have spent days here and loved every minute of it . Bravo to the designers and builders . The locals must be very proud of Saint Therese herself and their memorial to her . I am so grateful to have been given the chance to visit . Merci Beaucoup .

St Joseph's Church

Mentioned on

Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
St Joseph's Church is a striking example of Brutalist architecture, designed by Auguste Perret. The church features an imposing octagonal tower and stunning geometric stained-glass windows. Standing at 107 meters tall, the illuminated spire serves as a beacon visible from the sea. While Perret intended the church to serve as a memorial to those lost in war due to his atheistic beliefs, collaborator Raymond Audigier envisioned it as a symbol of gratitude for peace.
Humbling and impressive church rebuilt to also act as a memorial to the previous church and lives lost to the bombings that leveled a lot of the city in the WWII 1944/1945 timeframe to include the hommage to the priest who lost his life going down with his church. Very modern and sobering structure now. Worth the story and understanding, especially with the carnage photos.
Richard — Google review
Surprisingly great brutalist church. Imposing architecture and magnificent lights inside thanks to the artistically tinted glasses. Perfect combination with the austere concrete interior decoration. Amazing
Tony B — Google review
Unique angular and modern architecture with a single tall steeple covered in coloured glass. Worth the trip to go inside to admire the colours. Even the seating is non traditional with pews on the sides of the central stage.

This quite modern church tower can be seen almost anywhere in Le Havre. Quite an imposing structure, modern because Le Havre was flattened in WW2.

What a beautiful church, I lovely walk upto it past some boutique shops, it's cold inside (we visited in February off a cruise) but the stained glass and serenity is wonderful. €2 cash to light a small candle if you are thinking of this, no cards here as far as I can see. Free to enter here too.

What a hidden gem! Out in the middle of nowhere, but such a great place! I loved the fact you had the coloured routes. I loved the free train ride. The animals looked so happy and healthy with some really unusual animals too! I'd never seen a real polar bear before! The goat feeding was great and the pygmy hippos were adorable. We had such a great time!
Josie B — Google review
Wonderful wildlife park. Animals all had lovely large enclosures but were still remarkably easy to see. Only 1 cafe open today but food was tasty and plentiful. Plenty of toilets which were all very clean. Free safari train was also great fun and gave closer views of some of the animals, with additional commentary in English. 3D cinema was good despite not understanding all of what was said (was only in French) could still make sense of the story.

Great zoo, there was not too many people (end of September), you can really see all, animals wothout disturbing them much, we took a private visit to girafes and bears, it was great! Good restaurant at the entrance. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic zoo where you really feel like a visitor in the animal's domain. You see in the animal's eyes that they are truly at ease and happy. Other zoos look like they were built around the paths, here the paths are built through their habitats.

I was carried away by all these 5 star reviews and expected way too much. Maybe because it was August, but it was a Thursday, however it was just too crowded. Yes, the zoo or let’s say wild life park is amazing but apart from the giraffes you cannot get really close to any animals. Still to see the hippos and rhinos is something else. Too see animals close you had to manage a crowd of 20-40 other spectators and try to get a peek. Very stressful, to walk the path was in line and I had to wait 20 minutes for a safari train. They are still worth it and take you to parts of the park that you cannot access otherwise. Worth a visit but brave yourself for a crowd.

Vieux Bassin is a charming old harbor in Honfleur, lined with 16th–18th century houses and a carousel. The port was created in 1681 by demolishing existing coastal fortifications and expanding the existing port. It's a popular spot for tourists and amateur photographers due to the beautifully preserved historic homes reflecting in the calm waters, especially at night when lights and lanterns are lit.
A very beautiful port with not a lot of mention.... We were told by others how beautiful this place is and decided to check it out ourselves and they are absolutely right!! It's prettier than old port of Genoa and old port of Marseille... Maybe it's because it's much smaller? But it's absolutely charming

Nice old little harbour with cute french fish restaurants. Check your tripadvisor first though... Some are great but some are horrible eg: la cabane du pêcheur 🤢

This is a city from Sec XI which remains in the 11th century in terms of acessibility. It was really good if the responsible for the town mantenaince/repair to think about the people with reduced mobility because they can't visit or even get close to the city streets, so difficult, even hard it is even with all the help of my friends. Don't come close... Disappointed !!!! So disappointed.... AVOID if you use a wheelchair! AVOID if you use a scooter! REDUCED MOBILITY AVOID!!!!

Église Sainte Catherine

Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
Located in Honfleur, France, Église Sainte Catherine is a remarkable wooden church dating back to the 15th century. It stands as the oldest wooden church in France and is also the largest with a separate bell tower. The church's unique construction gives it the appearance of an upside-down ship's hull, with massive original wooden pillars and grand arcades.
Beautiful wooden church with so much history about it. The spire is not connected to the actual church because it was too big and too heavy. So stunning and a great centrepiece to the lovely little seaside town of Honfleur
George W — Google review
This place is a must visit when you are in Honfleur. Also right next to it there is a Eugène Boudin Museum, where you can look at this church painted by different artists in quite different styles. So I highly recommend to visit both !
Valeriya S — Google review
Beautiful early wooden church built apparently by ship builders the ceiling looking like a boat. Some lovely stained glass windows. Donations or purchase a souvenir coin or light a candle. A must see if in Honfleur.
Gary L — Google review
A wonderfully preserved wooden church made by shipwrights and dating back to the 1460. This is France’s biggest wooden church and a rare survivor. There is some lovely arches inside with chapels and plenty of room to look around. There is entrance fee but a donation can be made.

Really enjoyed this place. Visited after cruise stopping off at Honfluer. Some said they couldn't get in earlier as it is still used, but we went in afternoon and no issues.

Amazing place. It is out of the ordinary and I would have expected to see such a church in the north. The inside was spiritual and looks corresponding to the outside. If you have time, don’t skip it!
Andy L — Google review
Église Sainte-Catherine in Honfleur is a must-visit gem that left me in awe of its unique beauty and historical significance. Tucked away in the heart of Honfleur’s charming, cobbled streets, this 15th-century wooden church is unlike any other in France. As the largest wooden church in the country, its distinct maritime character and warm, inviting atmosphere make it a standout. The moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the remarkable architecture. Built by local shipwrights after the Hundred Years’ War, the church’s vaulted ceiling resembles an inverted ship’s hull—a nod to Honfleur’s shipbuilding heritage. The wooden interior, crafted from oak sourced from the nearby Touques forest, exudes a cozy, almost rustic charm that contrasts with the grandeur of typical stone cathedrals. The twin naves, with their sturdy oak pillars and intricate carpentry, create a sense of intimacy and craftsmanship that feels both timeless and unique. The stained-glass windows, though modest, cast a soft glow that enhances the wood’s warm tones, adding to the serene ambiance. The separate bell tower, located across the square, is another fascinating feature. Constructed to protect the main structure from lightning-induced fires, it’s a testament to the practical ingenuity of the era.
Ron J — Google review
The oldest wooden church (15thc) , this beautiful and eye catching church with its separate Bell tower (now partly a toilet!) Is a must visit in Honfleur. Free entry and it looks even more beautiful in the evening lit up.

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The Pont de Normandie, also known as the Normandy Bridge, is a remarkable cable-stayed toll bridge that was constructed in 1995. It spans the estuary of the River Seine, connecting the cities of Le Havre and Honfleur. The bridge features pedestrian, bike, and motor lanes, making it accessible to various modes of transportation.
I absolutely loved crossing this bridge! Its impressive height and length make it a remarkable engineering feat. The view from the top is stunning, offering a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding landscape. The toll for crossing is €5.90, but the experience is well worth it. Whether you're driving across or simply admiring it from a distance, the Pont de Normandie is an iconic landmark that adds to the beauty of the region. Definitely a site worth seeing!
Matt S — Google review
The Pont de Normandie is an impressive feat of engineering with a striking design. Crossing the bridge offers spectacular views of the Seine estuary. However, be prepared for a toll. Despite the cost, the experience of driving across this iconic structure is well worth it.
Nay R — Google review
Such a great time saver and a spectacular view. We made the mistake of walking over the bridge with the kids and we were covered in what looked like crude oil from the exhaust fumes, but nothing prepared us for the largest selection of human excrement we had to dodge on the pavement. Even this hadn't laid the ground for the poo museum under the supports. I assume this is based on a twenty year long collection. Who curates this? A true work of genius we won't be returning.
Paul C — Google review
Stunning bridge, looks like a road to nowhere. It's a shame you can't stop on it to admire the view.
Kevin D — Google review
Fantastic looking bridge, looks scary to cross from a distance, but is fine actually! Some gret views as you cross, better to be a passenger!

Amazing free to motorcycles. Go to the very left hand side where they have a dedicated motorcycle lane and you just ride on through 🏍
Nicola M — Google review
Pont de Normandie connects Le Havre on the north with Honfleur at the south. It spans the Seine estuary with the English channel. The bridge is pretty long, in fact there two parts - one over a smaller Seine canal and then over the Seine. As you might expect there's a higher toll (some 5, 6 Euros) to cross, but worth it for the views and saving your time.
Dejan B — Google review
The Pont de Normandie is an iconic cable-stayed bridge that spans the Seine River in Normandy, France. Completed in 1995, it connects the towns of Le Havre and Honfleur, serving as a vital transportation link in the region. The bridge is celebrated for its impressive engineering and stunning design, making it a significant landmark in Normandy. Stretching over 2,143 meters (7,000 feet) in length, the Pont de Normandie was, at the time of its completion, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. Its elegant lines and soaring towers create a striking silhouette against the landscape, making it a popular subject for photography and sightseeing. The bridge features a unique design with a main span of 1,600 meters (5,249 feet), supported by two large pylons that rise dramatically above the Seine. The roadway is elevated, providing breathtaking views of the river and the surrounding countryside. Visitors crossing the bridge can enjoy picturesque vistas of the Seine estuary and the Normandy coast. In addition to its functional role as a transportation route, the Pont de Normandie has become a symbol of modern engineering and architectural achievement. It attracts tourists and locals alike who come to admire its beauty and take in the views from the bridge. On the Honfleur side of the bridge, visitors can explore the charming town, known for its historic architecture, art galleries, and picturesque harbor. The area around the bridge also offers a range of outdoor activities, including walking and cycling paths that provide additional vantage points for enjoying the scenery. Overall, the Pont de Normandie is not only a crucial infrastructure project but also a stunning architectural landmark that enhances the beauty of the Normandy region. Its blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal makes it a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Normandy.

Falaise d'Aval

Scenic spot
Sights & Landmarks
Towering white cliff featuring a monumental natural arch eroded by the sea, accessible at low tide.
The place was very beautiful, but there were so many people and it took a very long time to find a parking spot. I recommend you to go there early morning to avoid the traffic. And I also recommend you to climb the hill. You could see the amazing view from there !
Chisato O — Google review
The natural formation is in itself spectacular but it's the color of the ocean around it, the color of the cliffs, the sound of the ocean, the waves, the cries of the seagulls, the tall grass growing on the hills bending to the wind, the wild flowers, creating that picturesque landscape, all coming together for an unforgettable experience and ambience. When it's cloudy, the colors are so special somehow. The walk up to either side to the see the views is not bad at all, like a ten minute climb. Enjoy your experience! Take a picnic up to the top of the hill to enjoy the serenity longer!
Elana P — Google review
A piece of heaven. Loved the place long time back when I went there for work and fall in love with it. A wonderful place with an amazing view. This time spent a full day and weather was exactly what you expected to have the best experience. A must see place in west of France
Amir — Google review
What more can you say? Stunning natural rock formations, a postcard-worthy arch, crashing waves, and... scattered German concrete bunkers. It’s a mix of dramatic cliffs, windswept plains, and wartime history that somehow works. The views are breathtaking from both above and below — and when the wind picks up, walking becomes a full-body sport. A place that impresses without even trying. :)
Michael N — Google review
Absolute must see in the Normandy, breathtaking views and a unique feeling. Very crowdy, don’t try to park in the city , you will fail :) better to stay a kilometer or so before the coast and take a walk instead. Or go there early in the morning, then you will be able to find a parking spot near the edge. Otherwise be prepared paying 25euros / day to locals offering parking spaces in their gardens :) Lot of restaurants and shops in the area, but most important are views from the cliffs. There’s also a small „train” which takes you to the cliff on the right (that one with church on the top) .
Mateusz K — Google review
The arch and scenary is, like in so many places around the coast of Normandy, incredible. Walking to the top is worth it if you want to enjoy the view. A few things to note: Walking to the top takes a while and may be exhausting. Given the step stairs, it is impossible for people having problems with walking or stairs. Though some basic railing exists, especially children should be very careful. Especially around summer the area is a tourist hot spot and therefore full of people. This will certainly slow you down too.
Joshi — Google review
This place is amazing! If you are into hiking, I'll recommend to you to park your car outside the downtown. Go to parking area so called "my parking etretat" and then walk few minutes to small street called "Petit Valaine". At the beginning it's lil bit climby and then you will find big field on your left, and golf course area on your right. Just walk following the golf shape of the golf course until you'll find the magnificent view. This path is unofficial walk, but I saw some local going through this path and also this path is MUCH better because there is no STEEP stairs (I noticed the official path has steep stairs). So with this path, you will just go downhill instead of uphills. Worth to try.

Beautiful views to the see and cliffs. The cathedral looks old and small, and for now it is closed due to maintenance works. The place Could be reached via steps directly from the beach, or you could drive here though I didn’t noticed any parking lots Close to the gardens.
Yana P — Google review
Pros: we arrived on Friday evening, the weather was bad so we had no problem to park for free right by the beach, otherwise there is for sure a problem with parking because the parking lot ia small and nearbay streets are narrow, the cliffs were nice - you can climb (walk up) on both sides, but I was much more excited about the stony beach and the gorgeous sounds that the waves made as they hit the rocks, it was an incredible experience to hear the power of the sea, we went up to the cliffs, took a few photos and returned back down, it's a very interesting place, worth seeing and especially for hearing, Cons: watch out for children - there are no obstacles on the cliffs - it is a extremelly dangerous area !!!

Jardins d'Etretat is a stunning garden perched on the cliffs to the east of Etretat, influenced by Claude Monet and created by landscape architect Alexandre Grivko. Originally established in 1905 by Madame Thebault, a friend of Monet, it now features avant-garde stone sculptures and meticulously shaped shrubs.
This park was one of the highlights of our visit to Étretat. Perched above the sea with panoramic views of the cliffs and the town below, it’s an absolutely breathtaking place to explore. The gardens are beautifully maintained, blending art and nature in a way that feels both serene and inspiring. Whether you’re a nature lover, an art enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful escape, this park is definitely worth visiting. Take your time here—it’s not just a quick stop, but a space to truly enjoy.

Nice and quite small park on the hill. There are some sculptures etc. but 20-30 mins more than enough. For 14 euros... big question mark. Maybe I don't understand the cultural impact - I wasn't impressed, sorry...

I think this botanical garden is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. There are so many different installations in a relatively small area. I didn’t spend a lot of time there, but it was definitely worth it – it’s quite big, and that’s part of its charm.

This place is absolutely beautiful, so good that even the weather didn’t ruin our experience! 10/10 and so happy we visited! Would be great if one day they got given the rest of the hill to make perfect like this place, it would definitely make Etretat UNESCO World Heritage worthy (as if the wonderful sea arches wouldn’t be enough already)!

tourist scam for 12 euros. garden is very small, there are like 5 heads sculptures. you can see the sea from only one point, which is a dedicated photo area but since the garden is on the cliff there’s a better view right next to it and it’s FRE OF CHARGE. these 5 heads are not worth it and you can’t even take a normal picture because of the crowd of tourists. i don’t even know what else to say..

Palais Bénédictine is a Gothic/Renaissance venue in Fécamp, France, built by the founder of Benedictine liqueur. It now serves as a Town of Art and History and houses art exhibits and antique books. The area around Palais Bénédictine offers attractions such as the Fécamp Promenade, where visitors can enjoy the seaside and visit the fish market for fresh seafood.
We were welcomed with a delicious cocktail and then allowed to take that up to the museum portion before the guided tour. The museum was beautiful and very interesting. The guided tour portion was fantastic, our guide was very knowledgeable. The tour ended with a tasting of 3 Benedictine varieties with explanations, overall a great experience.
Elizabeth F — Google review
It was interesting, but not really our cup of tea. It seemed many people enjoyed the tour, but it fell short of our expectations. Also, not being drinkers, the sample tasting of the Benedictin liquors did not sit well with either my wife nor me. But, as I said, I think the place is great for most visitors, just not a match for us.
Frank A — Google review
My family loved our visit to the Palais Benedictine! The building is stunning with such an interesting collection in the museum. We enjoyed the welcome cocktail and love that we able to bring home the souvenir cups! So clever how the cocktail recipe is printed on the cup. They even gave our daughter a non-alcoholic beverage. The staff and tour guide were friendly and knowledgeable. We took an English tour and our guide was charming! Such fascinating history. It was nice to have time to explore the museum on our own before the tour. The setup of the displays with interactive screens was very well done, the tour was well organized and informative, and the tasting at the end was a fun treat. Great experience!

Palace is beautiful and interesting, but it’s just a couple of rooms - and I think it doesn’t worth 60 eur for 2 persons per visit (tickets + audioguide)
Igor K — Google review
It was an interesting visit, also giving you the chance to enter this beautiful palace. Unluckily there are only two kinds of tickets, children and adults, a bit expensive because they include several liqueur tasting even for the people who do not drink. There is a fresh welcome drink served with lime juice, then the tour starts with the discovery of flavours, ingredients and history of the liqueur, ending with the final tasting of all the kinds of Bénedectine that are produced, and that are also available in the shop.
Monica P — Google review
We can only be "awed" by the architectual offering!
Peter L — Google review
Nice palace and tour, but it’s a shame to provide only one English session per day. On the web site they mentioned that it’s not a problem - you can get a audio guide - but it covers only 50% of your, next 50% will be conducting in French language (producing, cellar, etc).
Наталия К — Google review
Interesting place to visit. Only organized groups tour are allowed. We didn't have English speaking group, so joined a French language group and received a brochure to follow up. A couple of rooms were closed, so the tickets' price reflected that - it was correct. The guides were pleasant and answered our questions in English, when was possible. The video went into loop, so the group was seating and watching it second time - probably scared from exam at the end of a tour:) The tasting was well organized with 3 out of 4 type of spirit presented. Overall - a pure touristic spot. We left with a feeling that it was questionable to drive 45 minutes for it. Average value for your money.

Visited the abbey several times in the past years. It is a beautiful place. Last time (in 2018) we got a tour in the abbey church by one of the monks. It was very interesting. The museum shop has moved in another building. The monks sell self-manufactured tableware, religious books and food. The buildings are in good shape. The bell tower Saint-Nicolas is impressive. It's definitely worth it to participate in a guided tour. Have to speak French though.

Château du Champ de Bataille is a magnificent 17th-century country mansion located in Normandy, often referred to as Normandy's Versailles. The chateau boasts grandeur and was built by Alexandre de Crequi Berneuille in the 1600s. The property features furnished apartments, formal gardens, and a vaulted tea house that adds to its charm.
The gardens are just breath taken! You can see that the castle was very good taken care of! Amazon aesthetics inside, I loved the ideas that they put there! The library was just wow, but I wished we could have enter more, and actually sit on a chair and explore it, but I also understand the idea of preserving it! Also the Indian part in the gardens was closed, but just looking through the window was just amazing! I totally recommend to visit this beauty!

The gardens are stunning. House is interesting but just a collection of items from the period. Give yourself a full day to see all.
Jonathan R — Google review
We visited entirely by chance. A chateaux which was open and on our driving route. We knew nothing about it. The entry off the main road is understated, and we thought that maybe there was little to see. We persevered and continued to what is now the public carpark and entry. We could only visit the gardens because the house was open later and time was not on our side. That decision forced on us was excellent. You could spend a whole day walking through the grounds. There was so much to see, and it definitely should not be rushed. I would love to see the chateaux at night with the fountains lit and the fires lit. What an excellent place for a celebration.

A beautiful parkland golf course with picturesque undulating fairways and woodland surrounding. Some really cool par 3s including across valleys both up and down.

Not a great experience. To drive 90 minutes to & from Paris to this château isn’t worth it. They charge 27 euros to see the inside (only one of two buildings are open) and gardens and you’re aren’t allowed to take picture on the 2nd floor. (They don’t tell you this when paying which is deceitful) They literally had 2 hall monitors to make sure you don’t take pictures. People took the shots they could ! That was ridiculous. Considering you can see Versailles for 1 euro more and it’s 10x bigger, more beautiful, closer to Paris and you can take images! - it’s not worth to make the drive there and back. The gardens were ok nothing amazing. You have chateaux like Fontainebleau, Champs sur Marne, VLV etc that are closer, less expensive, more beautiful and you can take images. You can skip this château, not worth it in any sense.

Abbaye de Jumièges

Immerse yourself in the timeless beauty and rich history of Abbaye de Jumièges, a vast monastery founded by Saint Philibert in 654. Nestled in the picturesque Seine valley, this ancient abbey offers a mesmerizing blend of tranquility and charm. The magnificent ruins and ancient church provide an unforgettable experience, while the surrounding scenery with its ancient trees adds to the magical atmosphere.
We loved this Abbey! Worth the visit and the walk. It also has a great gift shop. The town nearby is cute as well. I would recommend buying a guide book as there wasn’t that much information available around the Abbey.

€7 for this fabulous 13th Century Abbey, with oooodles of history, before and after, the remaining building you see today. This huge monastic building , with its cloisters, nave, transept and 46m tall towers dominate the town. Allow time to wander, imagine times gone past, changes to the religious feelings of the days. There are information boards scattered throughout, an informative leaflet in numerous languages, and guides on site for more if wanted. We noted headsets at €5 and you can have a tour guide too. Unfortunately the monks house at the very top of the grounds was shut (no explanation). The bakery has a little display in it and is worth a walk over to it via the walled garden area. Toilets and gift shop on entry/exit. Very interesting, great value, definitely worth a stop if in the area.

extremely beautiful ruins in a very green park with gigantic old trees 🌳. we first walked around, then hung out for a bit in a ‘beach’ lounge chair that we could move to a spot of our own liking, which in our case was a spot in the shade of a huge tree, right in between the ruins. if you're visiting on a sunny day and you need a break from driving around, bring some water and a snack and perhaps a book and plan for up to two hours here. 😌

Amazing place to visit and walk around these fantastic ruins. We visited on a very hot day but managed to find plenty of shade in the grounds with plenty of seating provided. Parking was also very accessible around the town, there was a long residential road opposite where we parked on the verge like most people were doing.

On a little sign (and noted on the back of the free visit pamphlet) we found the link to the Jumieges 3D app and it really made our visit (available in English, French, German, Italian). The free basic pamphlet is available in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch. There is a free audio guide on the app and a function where you can view a recreation of what you would be looking at in the past. Note that guided tours are exclusively in French. You can choose to pay €5 for an audio guide tablet available in French, English, German, and Italian. There are lots of areas to sit down and the trees provide good shade on hot days. The exposition in the Logis Abatial at the back of the property featured artists predominantly from Tunisia and it was worth a (free) visit as well! We visited from Rouen by bus for a day trip and a few hours was all we needed. You can buy bus tickets to get back to Rouen at the Tourism Office because you cannot pay by card and the app doesn’t work well.

Beautiful setting and much larger than first appears. There are lots of paths in the grounds to take, and the abbey ruins really are spectacular. We we're surprised that there was no cafe, and food/drinks were not on sale. There is a cafe in the town close by but this doesn't open until 12.00.

Very old romanic cathedral, 7th century built, later in Gotic style extendet. The monastery was plundered after the French Revolution and the stones were used for local house construction. If the original monks had known this, it would have been in a drama. Very impressive to look at, nice reception and shop. The bar opposite has cold beer too!

Nestled on the stunning Alabaster Coast, Veules-les-Roses is a charming village that captures the essence of Normandy. Just 12 miles from Dieppe, this picturesque spot features delightful half-timbered cottages and an enchanting atmosphere steeped in history. The Veules River, known as France's smallest river at just 1,100 meters long, meanders through the village before flowing into the sea amidst striking chalk cliffs.
One of the oldest villages in the Country of Co (Pays de Caux) and the most beautiful villages in Normandy. Veul-les-Roses will enchant you with its landscapes: the charm of its seashores, rich architectural heritage and greenery along the shortest river in France - the Veul. The length of this river is only 1100 m. Walking along its banks, you will discover the history of the village (mills, resort villas, flower houses, churches) and come out to the sea with a sandy beach. You will find buildings of various styles here - from rustic wooden houses and fishermen's houses to chic villas of the early 20th century, as well as small and large gardens with an abundance of flowers, especially roses.
Hanna S — Google review
It is a small valley nestled in the Pays de Caux, between the alabaster cliffs. Between the banks of the Veules and the seafront, a village stretches out where Belle Époque villas rub shoulders with old half-timbered Norman houses. At first, painters and intellectuals from all over Europe stopped to visit Veules-les-Roses and eventually succumbed to its charms. You simply have to visit Veules-les-Roses! Stroll, stroll, stroll in this village which alone concentrates all the charm of Normandy. It is one of the most beautiful in France and one of the oldest in the region. It was built in a valley, a depression in the cliffs which gives access to the sea. Everything is there, from half-timbered houses to old mills, including Belle Époque villas and bath cabins. The smallest river in France which is 1149 meters long. This is one of the peculiarities of the village and you should not miss to walk along it obviously. You can start the walk on the waterfront to go up the path to the source of the river. You will come across old stone bridges, half-timbered thatched cottages and old hotels.

Located in Rouen, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen is a stunning 12th-century Gothic cathedral with a rich history. The cathedral offers tours that include the remains of a crypt from a Roman structure on site. As you approach the cathedral from the Gros-Horloge shopping street, you'll notice its asymmetrical facade, reflecting its centuries-long construction and renovation history.
Absolutely beautiful! One of the most breathtaking churches I have been too! Walking inside takes your breath away. The ceilings are giant, the statues amazing and the stained glassed windows just wow! We didn’t have to pay to enter. It is breathtaking. Loved all the statues on the outside with the gargoyles everywhere.

Impressive, monumental cathedral in every sense of the word. With highly detailed, intricate sculptures piling on every inch of the building, it is a stunning, beautiful structure all around. There is a large tent set up in the front currently, perhaps for a reception or important event, it obstruct part of the front view. Walk around and to the back, the design continues to impress. There are cafe shops, restaurants and fast food takeout, pastries, souvenir shops nearby. The uniquely frrncg architecture, medieval looking town is so quaint and pretty to visit. Wear comfortable shoes as the town is walkable and all cobblestoned, it can be hard on the feet after a while. There are several other great attractions earby such as the large clock, Jeanne D'Arc church...all are must-see monuments. I didn't go inside the cathedral (not religious) just love European flares, history and art.

A breathtaking masterpiece of Gothic architecture — one of the most magnificent cathedrals in all of France ⛪✨. Standing before it feels like stepping back through centuries of history, art, and faith. Every detail, from the intricate façade to the towering spire, tells a story of devotion and craftsmanship. 🏛️ What Makes It Special The cathedral inspired Claude Monet, who painted it over 30 times to capture how light changes its appearance — and when you stand there, you understand why. The play of light and shadow across the façade is mesmerizing, especially during sunrise and sunset. Inside, the soaring ceilings and stained-glass windows create a peaceful, almost spiritual silence. 🕰️ Historical Importance Built between the 12th and 16th centuries, it houses the heart of Richard the Lionheart and remains one of the tallest church structures in France. Despite damage during wars and lightning strikes, it has been beautifully restored — a symbol of Rouen’s resilience. 📝 Practical Info ✅ Free entrance ✅ Light show (in summer months) — a must-see experience that brings Monet’s vision to life 🎨 ✅ Nearby cafés and shops for a perfect cultural stroll afterward A place that leaves you speechless — not just for its beauty, but for its soul. Whether you’re religious or not, standing here fills you with awe and peace. ⸻ For more tips follow me on Google. The church is beautiful and impressive! You can spend a good time admiring all the details on it. During the evening (10:30pm) they had a light show - it was SO BEAUTIFUL. It had history and beauty in the show and it was captivating. It’s for free, you just need to get around the church and enjoy the free experience. Highly recommend.

Huge impressive cathedral. Tribute to Jeanne d'Arc. Unfortunately, some parts have been distroyed in WW2, and renovated using concrete, and glass windows, instead of vitrages.
Noam L — Google review
Impressive cathedral with wonderful stained glass windows and a crypte. You don’t need to be history or architecture savvy to appreciate this! The impressive tree next to the cathedral was planted in 1797 to commemorate the French Revolution.
Benoit S — Google review
Glorious cathedral both inside and out and the 10:30 light show was worth the wait. There are so many intricate designs and figures throughout the building that you could spend hours just checking them out.
Phil M — Google review
Visiting the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris was an absolutely breathtaking experience. It’s truly one of the world’s most stunning architectural masterpieces. It’s amazing to see how beautifully it’s been restored after the devastating fire in 2019. The cleaned marble and vibrant stained glass made the interior glow like never before! Even with the long line (though I’m glad it moved quickly!), it was worth every second. There’s something so magical about standing inside a place with so much history and artistry. Seeing the rose windows, the stained glass windows, the sculptures, and the architecture was awe-inspiring. Notre-Dame always leaves a lasting impression. This 850 years old treasure is back and as magnificent as ever. If you are in Paris it is definitely a must see.

The Rouen Museum of Fine Arts, also known as the Meeting of Metropolitan Museums (RMM), is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts. Established by Napoleon, this museum boasts an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and decorative arts spanning from the 15th to the 21st centuries.
Un vrai trésor insolite! What a wonderful Sunday surprise to find a museum with free (!!) entry, no crowds, and room upon room of abundant chefs d'oeuvre from artists ranging from local stars like Bouton and Zacharie to luminaries such as Renoir, Sisley, Velasquez and Caravaggio. Cherries on top were the absolutely lovely and helpful staff (including the delightful staff member with the gorgeous earring 💜 and the coupe casquette) and the excellent selection in the shop. Also, there's a grand piano you can play surrounded by great art — what a treat!!We'll be back!

The Monet was a bucket list item. Easy to find. Friendly staff and such a pleasant atmosphere. A variety of amazing artists. There are a few paintings that just blow the mind with their size and complexity. Not sure if wheelchair friendly. The toilets were clean and tidy. Lockers for bags and a curio shop. Well located and has few restaurants in the area. The video attached of the Seine and the artists paintings along the river.

Beautiful fine arts museum; free entrance, open daily from 10 AM. It has 2 floors; some exhibitions are paid. Amazing beautiful hall at the ground floor with 3 huge pictures made by Dufy, other big pictures and many statues. The museum houses works of famous painters and sculptors; some decorations are also on display. 1-2 hours. Highly reccomended!

A truly beautiful and inspiring museum — one of the best in Normandy 🎨. The collection covers everything from medieval to modern art, including masterpieces by Monet, Caravaggio, and Delacroix. The layout is open and easy to follow, allowing you to take your time and enjoy each room without feeling rushed. 🖼️ What Makes It Special The balance between classical and impressionist works is perfect. The lighting and spacious halls create a calm atmosphere that lets you appreciate every detail of the art. Many of the pieces are directly connected to Rouen’s history and its influence on the Impressionist movement. 🎧 Practical Tips ✅ Free entry — a huge plus for such a quality museum. ✅ Descriptions available in both French and English. ✅ Café and gift shop inside for a relaxing break. 🚗 Parking is nearby, and the museum is just a short walk from the city center. But its very hard to find a spot! So if u find any in the way just park and walk If you love art, history, or architecture, this place is a must-see. This place was well maintained and had many beautiful floral trees. Being someone who seeks out a more natural setting though, I disliked how many tourists were there even on a weekday. You never we're able to have too much time alone since everyone follows the trail. None the less, it was a nice walk on a spring day..only a little chilly in the shady parts.

Lovely gardens; over looking the sea with the most beautiful views of topery and flowers. There's also the very pretty woods full of lushous greens as well as interesting trees and jungle like plants. Pretty good place to take children to run free and have fun while parents watch the sea view. There's also a beautiful house to look around but not as good for children. Parking is also free and most staff speak fluent English. Would definitely go again and everybody should take a look if in the area.

This is an Arts & Crafts house designed by Edward Lutyens with a garden by Gertrude Jeykll, the first of their collaborations. You can't see inside the house at the moment, but the garden is spectacular. Around the house are a series of 'rooms', which are well presented, and then you walk down a valley with mature trees, and wonderful rhododendrons and azaleas at this time of year. The weather was a bit dull, but it didn't take away at all from the sheer exuberance of the displays. Note that the garden is open for two hours in the morning, and four in the afternoon. I think you need at least two hours to properly appreciate the garden !

Chateau Musee de Dieppe, located in Dieppe, France, is a hilltop castle with a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Overlooking the English Channel, it has served as a military fortress, prison, and now houses an impressive museum. The museum features fine paintings, artworks, ivory carvings from the impressionist era and folding lace fans. Visitors can also enjoy stunning views of the city rooftops and waterfront from this historical site.
Simple but nice castle. The walk up to the castle is doable, the view is very pretty! We didn’t enter the museum, but looked around the castle and in the shop. If you’re exploring Dieppe, you should pay a visit to the castle! Wouldn’t take up much of your time.

We went there to eat as it was the only place in walking distance from our accomodation. The place is huge, filled with kitchy native American motives and hunting trophies. I got the buffalo antricote which was quite difficult to chew. They served us very fast, actually it was too fast, I suppose they already had the food prepared and just warmed it a bit. Very exciting place. An extremely charming old chateau. And a very exciting and beautiful sculpture garden. The art exhibition is fantastic. A nice and friendly café, with delicious cakes and coffee. Worth every penny. Thank you very much.

Lovely setting. Some great modern art in the form of statues displayed around the grounds and in the lovingly restored chateau. The exhibition within the chateau was not to my taste but that did not detract from our visit. The cascade near the restaurant is beautifully set.
