The castle's history, from its construction to the present day, is very interesting. The castle garden invites you to linger. I think it must be particularly beautiful in spring and summer.

The castle was closed the day we went to Brig, but the garden itself is worth the visit. It was quiet, a perfect place for a picnic with an astonished view. Toilets are available. Highly recommended

Nice Palace, but without a guide, you can't explore the interior at all. My bf and I ended up sitting out in the gardens feeding sparrows for an hour (which was lovely). Admission is free.

Late this freezing cold January Sunday afternoon we visited this magnificent 17th century castle in the very center of the old town of Brig, that previously was unknown to us. We were all by ourselves and could enjoy the sun progressively setting on the western facade of the castle with shadows of the naked trees being projected on the pale yellow color of the building. Our only regret was that we had not arranged for a visit to the interior but that will be a good project for a future visit.

There was a wedding going on when we arrived, so it felt rude to go in. Can't tell you much about the interior. Spent our time outside in the park. Nice kempt garden with students and kindergartens in all directions, but they were well behaved and not offensive. Lovely views and nice weather. Park at the train station and walk up. Plenty of touristy stuff around the area, so well catered for.

I haven't been inside the castle and only been to the courtyard and outside park of palace. It is an impressive palace and courtyard. If you are in Brig and have 30-45 mins, take a short walk from Bahnof through the old town to the palace. It is totally worth your time. You can have a guided tour for which you will need more time. Hopefully next time, I will be able to do it.

I’m glad I ignored the handful of negative reviews, which mostly are from a few years ago. These thermal baths are quiet, in a stunning location and with helpful, friendly staff. The view from the outdoor pool is beautiful, the spa “village” is very good and the Aufguss - every two hours - was excellent; the man who led it was a master with the towels! The Roman-Irish bath was well done - sure, it’s not Baden-Baden and the facilities are a bit tired in places, but I’m very pleased I made the trip.

Wanted somewhere to relax after a day waking in the mountains and was going to go to one of the other pools after reading the reviews. The other place was too busy for me so decided to ignore the reviews and try here. So glad we did. The pools are lovely and the outdoor pool has a stunning view It wasn't at all crowded and so relaxing. Yes the changing rooms may need an update and some of the lockers too but they were clean and the staff helpful and friendly

The Spa/ Therme is in a bad condition. In the shower the handle fall off, lights are broken, the floor in the water is dirty. Multiple elevators are broken. One Sauna is out of orders for years and I payed 40.- CHF for 3h. All that said, it's a shame cause the building itself is beautiful and has a great view. And the idea of an underground Sauna village is also beautiful. Because it's so run down you also have not many people around either what is nice at least. Of you owner of this spa reading this review: Please please please renovate this spa! It would be a shame to see it go under.

we were checking this place out to experiance another thermal spring in leukerbad. sadly this place wasnt worth going since it was almost deserted (including the mal which was almost dead (most shops where closed for good and empty), and the baths were poorly visited (mid july!). it was a weird experience. economicaly this doesnt seem to check out anymore. also lots of stuff in bad shape and poorly maintained.

Absolutely wonderful place for the family. Lots to do, spotlessly clean, friendly staff. No matter the weather this is a great year round activity. After you have paid you don’t need to worry about anything else, your wrist band is your locker key and how you pay at the bar. On the way out scan your wrist band on the pay machine and pay for your drinks.

I have absolutely loved it. There are so many things to do: water slides, outdoor and indoor pool, pool bar, sauna and so on. There are also facilities to people with children. Minuses: - Towel is not included, so bring yours. - We did not find any water fountains.

I liked the landscape and the diversity of options, both indoors and outdoors. I didn't find the installations particularly beautiful, but they were clean, perfectly working, and all seemed fairly priced. We didn't wait, and the employees were very welcoming.

The main indoor and outdoor pools look newly renovated and are in excellent condition. There’s also a children’s pool and a small play area, which makes it great for families. The spa area is in good shape, though a bit small. It includes a steam bath, three or four saunas at different temperatures, and a cold-water pool outside. The spa area is nude-only, and access to it costs an additional 15 CHF. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

Absolutely breathtaking. The top of Europe it prides itself as. 3475M of elevation. A must visit if you're in Grindelwald. You have to change trains twice to get up here but the views are amazing. Theres different stations that you can go to and there's an ice station as well. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours here.

It’s the kind of place that makes you whisper “wow” before you even realize you’re doing it. That said, the experience is very tourist-oriented — and I say that with both appreciation and a smile. On the one hand, it’s impressive how accessible everything is: tunnels, elevators, shops, cafés, even an ice palace. The Swiss engineering behind this mountaintop infrastructure deserves applause. On the other hand, the sheer number of visitors can make you feel like you’ve taken a scenic detour through a luxury shopping mall at 3,500 meters. And then there’s the crowd itself — a fascinating, unstoppable wave of excited tourists from all over the world. You haven’t truly experienced the Jungfraujoch until you’ve seen a group of people taking selfies in sneakers at nearly 4,000 meters above sea level. It’s equal parts surreal and entertaining — like a nature documentary directed by Wes Anderson. All in all, the Jungfraujoch remains an unforgettable experience. It’s beautiful, over-the-top, slightly chaotic, and absolutely worth it. Just don’t expect solitude or silence — and maybe bring sunglasses, patience, and a good sense of humor along with your camera.

Absolutely stunning, snow all round the year, less tourist compared to Titlis. A nice tour route set up. You will clearly need 5 hrs and more if you want to enjoy every spot at your pace. The snowtubing and sledging were absolute fun. 20 CHF for Half hour and unlimited rides. Ice palace was beautifully carved. The hot chocolate shop at Aletsch glacier was yummy. Point to note- you have to walk a lot there, but for older people and people who are unable to walk a lot, there are places to sit in the warmth of the tunnel and enjoy the views.

An absolute must see if you're in the Jungfrau region. The views of the Alps are unreal. The viewing platform at the Sphinx and the area with the flags lower down give the best photo opportunities. The ice sculptures are worth checking out.

The number one attraction as well as the most expensive attention in all of Switzerland. It cost about $500 usd for two people. The gondola ride up is amazing and the best cable car ride in the world. After the cable car you arrive at eigen glacier which is also very beautiful, then you take the train up to jungfraujoch and the train stops in the middle for you to see another glacier. Once you’re at the top there are several stations you can take a look at most of which can be seen in the photos I posted. You’ll also want to check their public webcam to make sure the weather is good on the day you come.

Maybe the one thing in Switzerland that doesn’t feel overpriced. Awesome experience. The roaring of the waterfalls in the caves was potentially a cooler experience than the actual waterfalls themselves. Plenty of parking Pro tip: take elevator to the 6-10 waterfalls and then make your way down from 6-1. Was an hour and a half experience for us.

Spectacular falls which are well set up with all the different viewpoints. I took the lift up to viewpoint 6 then walked the stairs to the top, which isn't difficult but you definitely need good grippy shoes. I didn't get too wet, only a few drips here and there but you will need a jacket as it is very cold. There is a little souvenir shop located along the path as well as the cafe with clean toilets. I stopped for coffee and a muffin, both were delicious 😋

An unforgettable experience! Trümmelbach Falls is a truly unique natural wonder — 10 glacier waterfalls hidden inside a mountain, carrying meltwater from the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. You ride a lift up through the rock and walk through tunnels, stairs, and bridges carved into the cliff. It’s moderately physical (lots of steps!), but totally worth it. The sound and power of the waterfalls — up to 20,000 liters per second — is breathtaking. Well organized, very safe, and perfect for a 1-hour visit. Highly recommend wearing good non-slip shoes. Tickets were CHF 14 for adults (2024) and free parking is just a 2-minute walk from the entrance.

Trümmelbach Falls, in Lauterbrunnen Valley lets you walk inside a mountain, with roaring waterfalls echoing through rock tunnels. The short hike includes stairs up and down, so wear sturdy shoes. There is optional lift inside the mountain. Visit early to avoid crowds and bring a waterproof jacket—the spray is strong. Tickets can be bought on site. The dramatic sound and close-up views make it a rare natural wonder worth seeing. Photography is allowed but watch your gear around water.

Very cool experience! The admission is 15CHF per adult and 7CHF per kid and for us it is it was definitely worth it. Not to mention that the walk to the area is breathtaking.

The walk to the falls was magical! There is an entry fee, I can’t recall the amount. You will get wet. There’s a bakery that you can enjoy before or after that was delightful!

Visiting Schilthorn Piz Gloria was absolutely one of the highlights of my trip. The cable car ride itself was an incredible experience, smooth, comfortable, and offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Swiss Alps. As we ascended, the scenery just kept getting more and more spectacular. At the top, the weather was perfect, which made the whole experience even more magical. The 360° views from Piz Gloria are truly stunning with snow-capped peaks, valleys, and endless mountain ranges that leave you speechless. The Bond-themed touches add a fun and unique twist to the visit, but the natural beauty alone is worth every penny. It’s not just a sightseeing trip, it’s an unforgettable adventure. Between the views, the atmosphere, and the overall experience, I can confidently say this was worth every moment and every cent. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Switzerland!

Somewhat pricey to take the gondola up to the top, but it's well worth it for the views. There is a bunch of James Bond history and plaquards. But the views alone are breathtaking. You should fefinitely wait for a clear day, othe you'll just be looking at the fog.

Break taking views! Certain areas were under construction, but it did not take away from our experience. Be sure to walk out to the point and enjoy time in one of the viewing boxes.

Was the filming location of a 007 movie. Granted it is not as high as Jungrafraujoch, but the views are equally fantastic. Highly recommended to make a trip here. There is a rotating restaurant at the tower area also as well that serves very decent buffet lunch.

Great experience. The cable car on the first stretch is supposedly the steepest in the world. Remembered to include the 9 Euro cheese / cold cut option, which is served at the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant. It comes with a drink and there was plenty of food to fill us up. And it tasted good, too. So pretty much a no-brainer. The view from the top was great. Unfortunately clouds descended while we were there and it even started to hail. Which kind of added to the whole experience. Some cool James Bond stuff - check out the bathroom mirrors! Unfortunately quite a lot of construction going on, which detracted from the whole experience. Will still give it 5 stars, but probably more like 4.5 due to construction, high cost and a very unpleasant guy in the ticket booth. Everything else was perfect and definitely an experience. Now back in the US and planning on watching On Her Majesty’s Secret Service tonight 😊

My less-than-ideal rating was solely due to the unfortunate timing of my visit. Otherwise, I would have missed the opportunity to go altogether. It was a heavily overcast day, because of that, I skipped exploring Birg and went straight up to Schilthorn instead. On top of the poor weather, Schilthorn was still under construction. After a quick browse through the gift shop, a short walk around the outdoor deck, and a light snack at the restaurant, it was already time to head back down. I’d have to return someday to truly experience the full beauty of this attraction. Hopefully on a clear day and once the construction is finally complete.

The views are priceless and it's definitely worth it to go! However, be warned that getting around through the construction is extremely difficult. It look 20 minutes to figure out how to go down to the Walk of Fame and the View Lounges. That, for me, was the best part. It's away from the hordes of people fighting to get the best selfie and closer to nature. You can see forever! The best time to go is usually between 15:00-18:00 in the summer (weather permitting) because the clouds tend to lift around that time.

Lauterbrunnen Valley is absolutely breathtaking! The river runs crystal clear, waterfalls cascade from the cliffs, and during spring, the valley is filled with vibrant yellow flowers. A truly magical place to experience nature at its best.

Such a beautiful little town, very clean and well maintained. The streets are charming and it has a really pleasant atmosphere. We spent about two hours strolling around, taking our time to enjoy the views and the peaceful vibe. A lovely place to wander and soak up the surroundings.

Saw very good review about this place decided to give it a try. The playground is nice. CAROUSELL is simple but age 130 years old something different. The house that showcase how 200 years ago people living here is quite interesting, but wish there are more English explanation so that we know what we seeing. Many houses we visit is close or no one around at all. If need to pay for ticket I think is not quite worth it. We got cover by Swiss travel pass. The train ride inside is almost non existence because only a few ride a day at selected timing and you can tour around if you want to take train. End up we walk alot and some are not easy path. We were lost half way as this place is huge and limited sign. The map and sign some need sometime to figure out.

it's an amazing journey through time and hand-crafts! there are hundreds of structures guiding you through the places and timea of older switzerland with live demonstration for pottery, rope making, milling and many more! the crafts are well explained and kids & adults are equally in awe! many nifty playgrounds and infrastructure make the experience well rounded. the horse carriage schedule and high prices could be made more pleasant. also more simple info for how such houses were build would be cool.

Absolutely loved every moment of my visit! I had the honor of meeting a leather craftsman who was so kind as to make me a keyring. I chose a Longhorn design, perfect for a Texan. I also met the soup and coffee makers who used original equipment to create delicious, timeless food and drinks. It was truly amazing to watch. As I walked around the open-air museum, I was fascinated by how each house was unique in its own way. There was also a restaurant and a shack selling food and drinks. I could have easily spent the entire day there but unfortunately I had to catch a train and it's time to leave. Highly recommended.

You can spend the best 6 hours here. I am so impressed how well it is done and how big this is. I will come every season. It is definitely worth traveling 5 hours just for this❤️

I recommend arriving early to get full value from your visit as you’ll need several hours to explore the various areas of Switzerland that are represented. A beautiful place, friendly staff and an essential stop for a summertime holiday in the Bernese Oberland.

Absolutely captivated by the scenery. Waking up to a view of the Eiger and Jungfrau bathed in early sunlight is something I’ll never forget. The crisp mountain air, the mirror-calm lake, and the gentle sound of water lapping against the quay created the perfect backdrop for a peaceful stroll. Treated to postcard perfect views, a serene water, flower lined pathways, and the gentle rhythm of swans gliding across the lake. It is a must visit. PS: Whether you’re sipping a coffee as dawn breaks or enjoying the rose-gold glow of sunset on snowy peaks, every moment here feels like a postcard comes to life. If you’re after pure Alpine beauty and true relaxation, this spot i.e the Lake Brienz is not to be missed. Highly recommended for visiting when in Swiss.

One of the most picturrsque spots most visited in Switzerland. My family was there on a holiday. Switzeland with its mountains lakes valleys is a tourists paradise.

Tis a stunning turquoise-colored lake. The lake is surrounded by majestic mountains, creating postcard-perfect views. One of the best ways to explore the lake is by taking a boat cruise, offering scenic views of the surrounding villages and peaks. Activities - Kayaking & Paddleboarding, Hiking & Biking, Photography, hiking trails. perfect for strolling and offer a glimpse into Swiss rural life. A half-day to full-day visit is ideal to soak in the breathtaking scenery.

Amazing! Totally worth it. Try to plan so that it's not too cloudy and foggy at the top of the mountain so you can enjoy the view. There are a couple of Cafe's at the top. Give yourself 1-2 hours to enjoy the view before the return trip.

Our journey stopped at the middle station as the train derailed, the staff said she has never seen it happen before so it doesn’t look like it happens often, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It was a cloudy day with little bit of sunshine, the view from starting point to the middle station was already stunning. As other people photos have shown, the best part is definitely the second half of the journey that we missed, it was a shame to have travelled across half the world to get here and missed that but we didn’t regret taking the train ride and enjoyed the first half, and unexpected events are part of the fun of travelling! While stuck at the middle station, they offered us apple juice for free. It took them about 1 to 2 hours to get another train up to take us back down to the starting point, then a full refund was given back to us.

This is an absolute must-do — totally worth it! We only made it up to Planalp that day because it was snowing at the top, but even that part of the ride was stunning. You get sweeping views of Lake Brienz and the surrounding snowy peaks all along the way. At Planalp, there are several hiking trails plus a restaurant that was packed with people. Honestly, the moment we opened the door it felt like walking straight into a scene from Red Dead Redemption 2 😂. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, an absolute MUST when visiting Switzerland. Highly recommended booking your tickets in advance, as they tend to sell out quickly. I was fortunate to visit on a clear day and the scenery was breathtaking at every turn. The panoramic views were nothing short of spectacular. So glad I didn’t miss this unforgettable ride.

Well, if you are lucky and the sky ia clear, the views are insane! Really recommend for the views. It was a bit unpleasant on the way up because you have to stay with other 7 people in the same cabin all the time and it’s to tight. The best thing about this activity is that they offer you FOR FREE the ticket if it’s your birthday the day you go- so 100 less on expenses and they offer you as well a small gift ❤️

Unforgettable experience with the steam train and the hotel on top of Rothorn. The view was absolutely stunning during the train ride. The hotel staff was customer-oriented and very attentive. Food selection was quite limited, though. But we can understand because it's nearly 3000m from sea level, there's no direct access to supply.

I have to say that it is a very worthwhile experience. It is recommended to stay on the mountain for a while so that you can overlook the entire lake! also! The staff are really patient and kind! ! I accidentally left my headphones on the train and they helped to keep it until I was coming back!!! Sincerely appreciate it which makes me love Swiss 🥹

Surrounded by mountains, charming villages, and historic castles, it’s the perfect place to disconnect, breathe in fresh air, and marvel at nature. The water has a mesmerizing turquoise color, and every spot looks like it belongs on a postcard. Whether you’re sailing, strolling along the shore, or simply sitting down to take in the view, this lake offers peace and beauty in its purest form.

Lake Thun has absolutely amazing scenery. We spent almost an entire day there and still couldn't get enough. Starting in the morning, we enjoyed the view from St. Beatus Cave, getting a panoramic picture of the lake from above. Then we continued our adventure by ship, circling the lake and savoring every corner. The lake has very clear water, with beautiful typical farmhouses and the Swiss Alps in the background, adding to the picturesque setting. Every corner of the lake was stunning, perfect for healing and taking a break from your busy life.

The morning view of Lake Thun from Beatenberg is simply breathtaking and worth waking up early for.

We were in the area on vacation and decided to take a train down to Thun and look around. The castle is very prominent on the skyline and looks quite interesting. We walked though the building and looked at the various displays which were well done. Centuries of history briefly summarized. The building itself is the main attraction. We went all the way to the top into the corner towers. The roof structure was amazing. Definitely recommend!

Castle Thun is a must-see when visiting the town! The displays and information are well-curated, making it easy to explore everything in just 2–3 hours. There are also interactive sections, like the wooden architecture exhibit in the attic and rooftop area, and the fascinating collection of ancient armors and weapons. The castle is well-maintained, easy to navigate, and offers a great balance of history and experience.

Worth the trip. The castle is stunning and you can see artefacts of the Old Swiss Confederacy, such as halberds, tapestries and armors. The Knight's room and the room under the roof where particularly stunning. On top of that, 4 towers flanking the roof are accessible and give you wonderful views of the city

The basic castle tour was interesting, but I was disappointed to find that there were virtually no period furnishings in any of the rooms. The audio tour aid added tremendously to the understanding of the castle history. Look closely, though, to find the signs which indicate when to use the audio aid. I recommend paying the extra fee to use it. I enjoyed the views from the tower. I paid extra for the special exhibit, which I didn't feel was worth the fee; skip it unless you are interested in forms of medieval punishment.

Thun castle does not match the vibe of other castles of Switzerland like Gruyère castle and Chillion castle. The castle is poor in terms of content and exhibits. Not much to explore inside. The staff is very friendly and there are free locker rooms available to keep your luggage. The best part was the top level of Thun castle from where you get 4 different panoramic views of Thun city and Lake Thun. If you are visiting Thun city then definitely visit this place otherwise skip it. Entry to Thun castle is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

An amazing experience and a chance to see some brown bears in real life. Great for kids but also adults who miss their childhood. Right next to the river, the park is both scenic and entertaining.

It’s quite astonishing to see a bear park right in the middle of the city — a truly unique setting. The enclosure is spacious, well-designed, and blends beautifully with the natural surroundings along the river. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into making it as comfortable as possible for the bears. Still, it’s a reminder that the animals are in captivity, which can feel a bit bittersweet despite the excellent care they receive.

The views are quite beautiful, and the bears are adorable, but I feel terrible they don't have more space to roam around in. They did build a little section in the river so when it is hot, the bears can at least cool down and fish :)

Love that they have a bear refuge near the city. They have so much room to roam. I would suggest adding more signs not to feed the bears or be fined. I saw some stupid kid form a different country throw something down in the bear area and the parents didn’t do anything.

Fantastic river walk along the Aare ends up at Bear Park. Complete with Bears! Stop off to spend some CHF for beers and food up top for great views.

Very nice attraction in the center of the town with a rare chance to see from close range real bears 🐻 very well designed for the wellbeing of the wild animals including also a swimming pool. Definitely a Must visit in the area

Marvelous architecture. You can just sit inside for hours. The tower is a bit of hard climb but it is beyond worth it. The view from the top is amazing. You can see the entire city and the river. Really love it, highly recommended.

The Cathedral of Bern is truly a stunning landmark with impressive architecture and a commanding presence in the city. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to go inside or climb the tower due to the opening hours — we arrived in the evening and left the next morning. It was a bit disappointing and sad, as we would have loved to explore it fully. Even from the outside, the cathedral is beautiful and worth visiting. A must-see for anyone in Bern, and definitely a reason to plan a longer visit next time!

Visited the Bern Cathedral and the climb to the top is definitely worth it. The view from up there is crazy, you can see the whole city, the river, everything. It’s one of those spots where you just stop and take it all in. At the top, there was this older gentleman working there who was honestly one of the highlights. He was super friendly and took the time to explain what we were looking at, the history, the mountains in the distance, and some really interesting details we wouldn’t have noticed on our own. Just a really good, genuine conversation. Made the experience feel personal. The cathedral itself is beautiful and detailed, but that view and the kindness up top really made it memorable.

The main portal of Bern Minster is one of the most complete collections of Late Gothic sculpture. The tympanum depicts the Last Judgment, carved entirely by Erhard Küng, which gives the ensemble a remarkable unity of design. The wicked are shown naked on the right and the righteous clothed in white on the left, while in the center Archangel Michael holds a raised sword, overseeing the fate of souls. Flanking the doors, the left side depicts the five Foolish Virgins, the right side the Wise Virgins. The Dance of Death (Danse Macabre) stained glass window in Bern Minster was created in 1519 and depicts skeletons leading people from all walks of life—kings, clergy, peasants, and children—toward death, emphasizing the inevitability and universality of mortality. Bern Minster (Berner Münster), begun in 1421 and completed with its 100-metre tower in 1893, is the tallest church in Switzerland and a landmark of late Gothic architecture. It became Protestant in 1528 during the Reformation. The church has a three-aisled basilica plan with slender columns, high rib-vaulted ceilings, and flying buttresses supporting the nave, exemplifying the vertical emphasis and detailed craftsmanship typical of the late Gothic.

The church provided vital history about city and people. Always fascinating to see evolution of architecture over the centuries. Amazing how items like seating areas have been preserved since the late 1400’s.

Get the chance to go all the way up to see the city of Bern with a panoramic view. It costs 6chf to go up, but you will enjoy it. Just make sure to be a bit fit as it is a lot of stairs. The last entrance is at 16h30.

Very nice park at the top of Bern city, offering a place to rest and fantastic view. The restaurant is ideal to take a break from a walking tour, having all the city in "the plate". Very nice place for panoramic photos of the city and the river. A must visit

We were not able to have a table by the side, with the amazing view as we had not made a reservation. We came here on a whim. We were given 2 other seating options, 1 which we were warned we would be hit by the sun soon and the other on the other side near the kids playground on the high chair stools and table. The waitress who served us was super busy, there was a large party of 10 or so and lots of other small tables she was serving. She did her best to keep everyone happy. There was a bit of a wait time to order. Once the food came, it tasted good. However due to being summer, wasps started to appear and take over. The toilets are inside, downstairs, they were clean. Upon exiting the building we saw a huge amount of salad plates ready to go just sat on the side. Overall, it was good.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the city. In a hot summer day you will not be able to dine inside because it’s extremely hot and there isn’t AC. We dined at the patio and unfortunately were invaded by dozens of flies as soon as our food was received. We prompted to move everything inside. Service is mediocre.

In my opinion, Bern's old town is one of the most beautiful and compact in the world. Its specialty is the arcades formed by the old buildings lining the streets. The arcades are lined with shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, etc. It is worth walking around the old town, also along the banks of the Aare River, and climbing to the Rosengarten to admire the magnificent view of the old town. Every time I visit Bern I feel amazed.

LOVE this pretty place! So historic and colorful, tons of lovely photo spots! Love the iconic fountain and huge clock tower, as well as all the cute trains and buses that came in different shapes and sizes 🚂🚌🇨🇭❤️. Was glad I dropped by Bern - after all it’s the capital of Switzerland, and a must drop by imo, even if it’s for a short day trip! 😆 I was really happy to be here 🥰👍.

A beautiful town, probably the nicest in Switzerland. In the morning it is less crowded and the streets are well conserved. The prices are really high, which makes the costs hardly affordable for foreigners

You are unwinding the clock back 500 years ago to experience the lifestyle in medieval time. The old street (made of sandstones), clock tower, cathedral surrounded by garden and river are breathtaking.

Beautiful and quaint little old town in the capital of Switzerland! I got there early so the streets were rather empty and it was nice taking a slow stroll down this street. The street was lined with familiar brands/shops, the trams ran down both sides and I almost felt like I was transported back to medieval times - except the modern shops bring me back to the present. If you walk further down, you’ll end up at the Bear Pit, another little tourist attraction of Bern.

Old Town Bern is picturesque both in the day and night. Can take Bus 12 from main square to Bear Park and return. If you stay in hotel, can get activation code for free bus ride in Bernapp. Else, can park at Casino car park but it's expensive.

Visiting the Zytglogge was a highlight of my trip to Bern. This 13th-century clock tower is not just a beautiful landmark, it’s a piece of living history. I arrived a few minutes before the hour and was amazed by the mechanical figures and the precise chime—it feels like stepping back in time. The surrounding Old Town streets are charming, full of cafés and little shops, making it a perfect spot to explore after watching the show. Whether you love history, architecture, or just a great photo opportunity, the Zytglogge is a must-see in Bern.

Walking through Bern’s Old Town, I stumbled upon Bim Zytglogge and was instantly charmed. The area around the clock tower feels like a slice of history—cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and the hourly show of mechanical figures on the astronomical clock. It’s a lively spot, with locals and tourists mingling, and plenty of cafés and shops nearby.

Such a nice Watch tower. Very interesting and of course, full of historical events to tell from it and its city, Bern. Really a great stop-by spot, a must when you'd like to see the spectacle of the watch with its figures moving at 6pm.

Its a big old clock. There is some entertaining bits on the west side every hour but dont expect anything dramatic like a giant cuckoo clock. Pretty cool though for an 800 year old piece of work.

Zytglogge (Clock Tower) was built in 1220 as part of Bern’s western gate, becoming a civic clock tower after the city expanded. The astronomical clock was added in 1530 with moving figures such as bears, a jester, and Chronos, which perform each hour.

This restaurant is ideal for business lunches and romantic dinners, offering great service, delicious food, and friendly staff. However, the menu does not provide sufficient details and is only available in German, making it challenging for international guests to understand and make informed choices.

Michelin level award winning food that's surprisingly good value for money especially for Switzerland. Don't get me wrong it's not cheap, bit the ambience, service and venue was excellent. Not too stuffy either, a place where you can relax. Food was outstanding, everything. Highly recommended if your not on too tight a budget.

Beautiful inside and out. Delicious food paired with exceptional service. Salad is fresh and crisp with shaved carrots and beets. The Wienerschnitzel with fries is my favorite. The restaurant has a nice bar and lounge as well.

DO NOT GO! Completely rigged card machines for dealing at the tables. W e were there for 1 hour and we all only won 2 hands.

There were 5 of us in the group. We all wanted to drink cocktails or some other drink. A lady who worked there, welcomed us very arrogantly ( without smile) and said that we cannot drink on that terrace, we can only eat. And she said that we can have a drink on the other terrace. That second terrace is about 100 m away, in the middle of the park, and is not part of the Baden Casino terrace. The lady was very unprofessional. She behaved the same way with the guests in front of us, who also wanted to drink. Since when do you discriminate guests who want to have just a drink? That doesn't exist anywhere, not even in more expensive and luxurious restaurants! Shame, never again in the Casino Baden restaurant.

Best dining experience within Baden. The staff were friendly and quite helpful.

The wooden covered bridge in Bad Säckingen is truly impressive and full of history. Crossing it feels like walking into another time, with the Rhine flowing below and beautiful views all around. It’s amazing that such a long wooden bridge still connects Germany and Switzerland today. A must-see landmark!

Well maintained bridge from 1888. One of couple Rhein borders between CH and DE. Nice place to chill out - there is a bench to sit and relax.

This zoo os great with kids. The surounding are made with so many details in mind, everything is green when you walk around. My kids and I loved it. There is great food stations too, amany animals. Especially the aquarium part is super big and nice too. The only downside, its in the middle of the city of Basel, a little hard to get too.

Love love this place- I went pretty late (4-6pm). Although I skipped the crowds, some of the animals were already in their enclosures (not in exhibit), but it didn’t detract from my joy of being there. Loved the vivarium, farm animals, snow leopard, flamingos, meerkats, and penguins. I would have loved to be able to see the new hippo baby though :(.

Zoo was good for a city zoo. I don't want to spoil it so only posted a miniscule amount of photos. I loved going into the bird house. It had some levels to it so find the elevator or stairs. Spent from just after 9am until 4pm.

It is very convenient. With stroller we could go through the whole Zoo. We were lucky we could see all the animals. They have huge space in the restaurant & also banks everywhere to sit.

A very nice zoo – not too big, not too small. There’s a great variety of animals, and even on rainy days you can enjoy several indoor areas. We always love coming here!

It's a very strange and beautiful place. They let the penguins walk freely in the zoo. However, the path was very clean. The staff there were very kind. Everything was good. I was there for 6 hours and I didn't want to leave at all. It was very enjoyable to be with the animals. I wish they were free in the wild, but the animals are having fun there too. The animals are definitely happy there. I recommend you to go there to enjoy being with nature.

What a lovely zoo- lots to see with a variety of animals. I particularly liked the giraffe enclosure. There was also a lovely coffee shop and gift shop near the entrance.

Wow! We wish we had had more time to see all the amazing art! Quiet and clean. Lockers for backpacks- easy to use. Put this on your to do list when you are in Basel. Give yourself 3 hours at least.

This museum is truly the treasure of Switzerland, imagine MoMA & The Met combined in one address. As an active art lover and collector, I have not spent too much time in this museum before unfortunately, as I had only been there for events during Art Basel week. Finally I had the chance to come back to Basel and dedicate some time for a thorough visit and viewing last week, and it was for nearly 6 hours, and every moment was well spent. The museums have two buildings connected by an underground tunnel, with vast permanent collections from Renaissance & Early Modern (15th-16th c.) with strong holdings from the Upper Rhine: Hans Holbein the Younger, the Amerbach Cabinet origins; 17th-18th Centuries, Flemish and Dutch masters (like Rubens, Rembrandt); 19th Century of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Symbolism. Simply impressive collections from Monet, Cézanne, Manet, Van Gogh. Swiss artists too, such as Ferdinand Hodler. Then the 20th Century including major movement coverage: Fauvism, Cubism, Expressionism, Surrealism, Constructivism with Important works from artists: Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Marc Chagall, Piet Mondrian etc. The collections from this era at this museum impressed me the most this time! The Post Modern / contemporary collections are also worthy investigating, from Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, Miriam Cahn, Dan Flavin, Kara Walker, Bruce Nauman, Calder and more. There are plenty of rooms to wonder with comfortable sofas in and out the exhibition halls, so you could really take time to experience the art, and it is never too crowded with too many phone cameras or noises around. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, very refreshing especially compared with other major museums around the world. Highly recommend it for art enthusiasts, families and it is a must visit when in Basel.

The entry price is quite high, but if you’re into modern and contemporary art, there’s plenty to explore. The collection includes works by Picasso,Van Gogh, Kandinsky, and Holbein, among other major names. The architecture itself is impressive. clean, modern, and beautifully designed. Worth visiting if you enjoy art museums.

The paintings were good but to be honest they were not great! It felt mediaeval and repeated with the paintings and the work structures. The museum has an old museum and the new and of the two, I think the new section is good. Because of the reviews and recommendations on Google, one gets eager and also excited to visit this museum but for me it was just an ordinary museum with no great paintings on display. However the most humane and exceptional part of the museum visit are the people who manage the ticket counters and offices. They are kind, gracious and always always ready to help and assist. I would remember the visit to the most gracious lady sitting at the ticket counter, who asked me to check for the Basel card and advised me to call the hotel for the digital copy to save me some money. Also at the same time a couple offering me to share their card with me, even asking me if they can pay half the amount for me. That was generous of them, I assured them that money is not the issue but the kind lady just wanted to save my money. I got the card through my mail in about 15 minutes and more than me the lady at the counter was happy. That's the beauty of Basel and its people! I took the tour and was happy to not miss it because it was more than a tour for me. The building is amazingly attractive and thoughtfully built. The surrounding area is just like another place within the old World charm of that area, just a few minutes away from the munster!

This was the most humiliating and hostile museum experience I have ever had. An employee wrongly accused me of taking a photo, which I was not, then followed me upstairs. He walked back and forth with another staff member, laughing and staring at me. Later, he deliberately waited for me, locked eyes, and stood there until I spoke. When I asked why he was staring, we had a full conversation where he mocked me, laughed at me, and bullied me instead of acting professionally. It felt like he wanted to provoke me into a confrontation. I am a quiet, respectful visitor, and it felt like he singled me out as an easy person to intimidate. Instead of enjoying the art, I was harassed until I left the museum in tears. For such an expensive ticket, this treatment is completely unacceptable. A museum should be a place of inspiration and safety, not surveillance, intimidation, and humiliation. I strongly recommend avoiding this museum if you expect basic respect as a visitor.

It's nice. Not outstanding. The collection is a bit of a random mix and it's curated in a strange way. Not that much art really, but I did like the medieval art they had.

Definitely worth the visit, the building is beautifully crafted. If you walk behind the building you will have an excellent view overlooking the River. Lots of people were having picnics and relaxing here.

Solo travelers are not allowed to climb the towers, for suicide prevention reasons. You can find another tourist and ask to accompany them, but without the employee seeing this. Don't let them know you are strangers. There's a small fee to climb the towers and it's well worth it. Basel Minster was built between the 11th and 16th centuries in a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles. After the 1356 earthquake, it was significantly rebuilt incorporating Gothic elements such as pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and large stained-glass windows. The cathedral is made of red sandstone and is notable for its two main towers, St. George’s and St. Martin’s, and its patterned tile roof. The Minster served as the Catholic cathedral until the Reformation in 1529, after which it became a Reformed Protestant church. The Gallus Gate at Basel Minster is the oldest Romanesque figure portal in the German-speaking world, built around 1185. In the tympanum is Christ as Judge of the World, accompanied by Peter and a donor figure, while the lintel below shows the Parable of the Ten Virgins. During the Reformation in Basel (1529), iconoclasm took place at Basel Minster as part of the city’s shift from Catholicism to Protestantism. Religious images, statues, and altars that were seen as idolatrous were removed or destroyed. The interior today remains relatively bare compared to its original medieval design.

It was originally built in the 1000’s as a Roman Catholic Cathedral and became a Protestant church. There’s no fee to get in the church but there’s a fee to go up the top. Behind the church is the Rhine River.

Had a free walk around then spotted people paying to go up the towers. We tried this for a small charge and it's well worth the steep steps to go to the 3 levels available. Bit tight at times depending on how many people go up but numbers are controlled.

Basel Minster is absolutely worth a visit! I’ve climbed several church towers across Switzerland, but this one had the narrowest spire staircase I’ve ever squeezed through! It’s a bit of a tight spiral toward the top, but that only adds to the adventure. Once you reach the viewing platform, you’re rewarded with panoramic views of Basel, the Rhine, and even into France and Germany on a clear day. The cathedral itself is beautifully maintained, with intricate stonework and a peaceful courtyard. It’s a perfect mix of charm, challenge, and postcard-worthy scenery. Don’t miss it!

Impressive red building.... incredible architecture. The atrium with its stunning murals and the imposing statue is very interesting. It is located in the center of the city and certainly stands out because of its color.... free entry to the atrium is allowed!

The Rathaus (town hall)—very impressive red building with rich decorations inside. Seems like you need a tour to fully explore it though.

Basel Town Hall stands as an impressive cultural keepsake of the city. It is highly recommended to check out if you are close by, it also serves as a basis for the centre of the city and often has many pop-up shops close by and restaurants as well. There is a lot of history here if you’re wanting to know more about the city.

Fantastic toboggan run and an amazing experience! At the top of the mountain, you can take a short walk through the forest and enjoy a kiosk with a breathtaking view. The only downside is the long wait in line for a ride that feels over too quickly. Still, it’s absolutely worth it!

Amazing ride!! 14.50euros for ski lift up and toboggan down. We had backpacks and could put them in the front when you go up the ski lift. Then otw down you could strap it into the toboggan. Ski lift was about 12 mins up. And toboggan down was about 6 mins. SO FUN.

Me and my partner visited here and it was amazing! Unfortunately we arrived in the rain but even in the rain this place was amazing! The views from the top were still beautiful, and thanks to the weather, we had the track almost completely to ourselves. The ride was super fun (a bit more thrilling in the wet) and felt totally safe. Honestly, a great experience— rain or shine. I’d highly recommend to anyone in the area! It’s €7 for the ride down or €14 if you wish to be lazy (like us) and ride their ski lift up to the very top instead of hiking up! There is also a FREE car park only a short walk away!

A great alpine coaster in Todtnau, Germany (Black forest). Not the cheapest but certainly one of the better coasters. You need to take an open cable car to the mountain top before you start. It’s a pretty long ride and can get really fast, if you wish. There’s a parking lot at the bottom of the mountain. We had a great time!

The coaster decent was fun but not very thrilling (as compared to Alpine coaster). The employees were sending coasters back to back which caused traffic at end of the line and we were not able to enjoy full ride. But can't blame them as it was very very crowded (1 hour queue). View from top is beautiful. You can see the Hanging bridge and Feldberg.

Fantastic alpine coaster, even longer than I imagined. We'll worth the 1hr drive to get too and at €14.50 for the lift hill and coaster ride I think its great value. Free parking a 2 minute walk away too

The hike is super short but definitely worth it. It costs 2.5€ for the waterfall and 12€ bridge+ waterfall. If you decide to do the waterfall and change your mind to do the bridge as well later you will end up paying twice. The ticket includes passing through the bridge once on each side of it and a bathroom stop at the bridge entrance. Earlier in the morning its quite empty. The hike back and forth is 90 min super nice. Super easy to go by public transportation the bus stops literally at the bridges gate.

Entry Ticket for One adult- 12 euros The bridge swings in the air and you need to hold to railing. The view is thrilling yet very safe. There are some benches on other end of bridge where you can rest and calm your nerves down if you feel overwhelmed.

The hike up the mountain is well worth it, leading you to a spectacular suspension bridge with breathtaking views all around. This place offers a perfect mix of nature, adventure, and relaxation. A unique and memorable experience for the whole family, and one I highly recommend to anyone visiting the Black Forest. Truly unforgettable!

Visited this beautiful bridge and waterfall with my family. While buying tickets, the kind lady advised the bridge might not be suitable for my one-year-old German Shepherd and even offered to look after him during our visit. Such kindness is rare — we need more people like her everywhere.

Really loved the place... the bridge looks nice and easy walking through but it is really not... it moves a bit and makes me dizzy (on the good side). My kids really liked it and the view is stunning... it is really great on the way attraction. (1 hour)

It was a beautiful experience for my kids because the last time they visited was 3 years ago with their cousins from Bielefeld and they love it. The nature, the water and the views. I recommend this place for family.

WELL PRESERVED ROMAN RUIN. Entry fee 3€ (2023) which is more than acceptable. You can visit the roman baths through a overlooking bridge covered with a glass roof, which is the best way to experience such a old place without contaminating it.

Very well preserved remains of ancient romain bathhouse. Well organized exhibition with art statues built in the historical ruins. Interesting Film about the bathing traditions in Roman time. Nice park around- especially in spring.

Excellently preserved roman bath ruins. Cost of entry was €2,50 per person with Gästekarte, which I think is very reasonable. Good information (all in German though).

The only downside logistically was looking for parking. The ruins themselves were cool and nicely maintained, though more signage/labels would have been nice

As a foreigner visiting this place, it was a bit confusing, navigating the labyrinth of pools, hallways, locker rooms, and entrances that required a key fob. That said, this place has a lot of history and is a popular attraction for this small town. It’s a bit pricey unless you plan on spending the whole day.

It was very relaxing. We'll organized too. I enjoyed it. It would be nice if there was a sauna and steamroom that all could use. There was a sauna, at extra cost, but you had to go naked. Not really very british 🤔

The Cassiopeia Therme in Badenweiler is such a beautiful and relaxing place. We went in the evening, and it was truly magical once it got dark outside - the calm atmosphere, the warm lights, and the peaceful pools made it an unforgettable experience. Everything felt quiet, clean, and perfectly maintained. The combination of indoor and outdoor areas is great, and soaking in the warm water while it’s dark outside is incredibly soothing. A perfect spot to unwind and recharge - we’ll definitely come back next time we’re in Badenweiler!

Very nice place with good prices. The best pools are outdoor, with a beautiful view into old garden. Big choice. Located near romanian ruines, worth to go for a walk before or after the bath.

What a nice Therme/Spa destination, with excellent facilities. Indoor and outdoor pools are all comfortable and warm at around 26.5 degree or more depending on which bath you go. A wonderful Roman bath area, great sauna land with separate pool. Restaurant menu with many options to choose from. Good value. In case you have parked your car at the city carpark nearby you will get 2 hours for free.
