We were lucky as the weather was wonderful, no rain and full sun. Before the tour, you get a very warm jacket and life jacket, and a safety training. There is 5 minutes walk to the shore where you get on the boat. The nice guide gives you some information about the glacier and Iceland. The boat goes close to the glacier, and on the way, you can admire the icebergs floating in the bay and touch and taste the clean ice. The tour takes about 1 hour. It is worth taking this tour.

This was a last minute booking and I am so glad we did it. It was sunny when we did the tour so I’ll say we were definitely lucky. The whole tour was so organized. Our tour guide Felipe was extremely knowledgeable, funny and attentive. I learned so much in a span of 45 minutes. We were given life jackets and a thick jacket. The icebergs were less than I expected. This glacier mountains were definitely amazing to see even from afar. I highly recommend this tour if you prefer less crowd and longer boat ride. The parking lot wasn’t packed. There were restrooms available.

10/10 experience, small and family like boat experience, the guide was funny and explained everything very well and in an entertaining manner. You will see icebergs up close and the glacier too! Definitely a more intimate experience compared to the “big” ice outlet nearby! Will repeat the next time I come! Pd: we saw an iceberg flip maybe you are lucky as we were!

I originally didn’t plan to take a boat trip here – and definitely not at Fjallsárlón – but skipping it would have been a huge mistake. It turned out to be one of the very best experiences of our entire trip to Iceland. The views of the glacier were absolutely breathtaking, even in the middle of summer. Our guide (whose name I unfortunately don’t remember) was fantastic – he even looked a bit like Travis Fimmel, which made it extra memorable. Highly recommended!

The day we booked our tour, it was rainy and windy so, for safety reasons, they had to cancel BUT we were able to reschedule to the next day which was sunny and beautiful! Rainbows everywhere! The guides were super informative, nice, and patient while he took photos of everyone. 10/10 experience!!

An amazing experience that truly made our day! We took the Classic Iceberg Tour (around 40 minutes on the water, total time about 90 minutes) and it was absolutely worth the 10,500 ISK per person. We chose Fjallsárlón over the Diamond Beach lagoon – and we’re so glad we did. We booked just 30 minutes before the tour, and everything went smoothly. The scenery was stunning, and our guide was fantastic – knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely attentive. He made sure everyone had a great time and even helped us take the best photos, adjusting the boat’s position for perfect angles and snapping pictures with our phone. We were also lucky with sunny weather and a great group of fellow passengers. Highly recommended – a true highlight of our Iceland trip!

Great tour of the glacier. Our guide Andrea was very knowledgeable and super friendly. For anyone wondering what to wear, we were comfortable with thermal leggings, hiking pants, and rain pants over top, T-shirt and fleece under layer, then the provided winter jacket kept you well warm enough. Would also recommend a winter hat and water/wind proof gloves!

What an amazing trip! The crew was super friendly from the start, and our captain was fantastic. You could tell they were a real pro, not just at handling the boat but also in sharing their passion for the area. We got amazing close-up views of the glacier, and the captain pointed out so many cool details and explained the science behind it all without being boring. Honestly, it was the perfect mix of incredible views and interesting facts. We left feeling like we didn't just see something beautiful, but we actually learned something too. Highly recommend this tour!

We had our discovery tour recently and it was a great highlight of our Iceland trip. Jang has been a great guide throughout the tour: was very patient with all our questions; always try to find some beautiful and special spots for us to view and take photos; kept checking on us and went with our pace and needs. Hanka was my contact to help clearing out all questions before the tour. Hanka has been very patient with our questions with prompt replies and detailed explanation. Our experience with Local Guide has been excellent from online customer service to the actual tour. Thanks for the effort and care that Local Guide provided :)

This was so much fun, and absolutely worth the early morning wake up and workout. Just take note, I was expecting it to be very cold up on the glacier, so I was layered up, but by the time we got to the top I'd stripped down to my shirt, so bring a backpack to store your extra layers (this was in mid-May). I'd also recommend sunglasses and spare sunscreen to reapply as you go, as it gets very glary up there; and don't trust the weather forecasts - it was forecast to rain, so I didn't bother with sunnies, but the rain eased up as we started climbing, and it turned into a lovely (and bright) sunny day. 10/10, absolutely breathtaking views.

Our guide (Ian or Yan?) did a great job of helping us explore the glacier and learn the basics. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The glacier was awesome. We spent 3 hours on the glacier in glacier encounter. Well worth the money.

We had the most amazing time with this small group tour! We booked the glacier encounter. It was truly a small group with only 5 of us. Our tour guide was wonderful. Highly recommend!

We joined a glacier hike tour, and it was an unforgettable experience! There were so many great things about it, but here are a few highlights: 1. Booking Process: The online booking was simple and straightforward. We received reminder emails with clear details and the exact meeting point, which was easy to find. 2. Equipment & Preparation: Hiking boots were provided for those who didn’t have suitable footwear for crampons. The guides were very helpful in getting everyone ready and making sure the equipment fit properly. 3. Our Guide – Sam: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and beyond! Sam was absolutely amazing. Our parents weren’t very comfortable walking on the glacier, and she personally assisted them the entire way, ensuring their safety and comfort. We are incredibly thankful for her kindness and care. She also shared fascinating glacier facts throughout the hike, kept the group engaged with her humor, and even found a natural spring so we could try drinking fresh glacier water — such a special touch! Overall, it was a fantastic and well-organized tour with a truly exceptional guide. Highly recommended!

Yesterday I had a Discovery Tour and it was truly amazing. Why choosing this tour? Because the group is smaller and you get to go further, where less groups goes, so you can really enjoy the glacier. I wouldn’t say it was really challenging but obviously keep in mind when choosing this tour that it’s over 3h hike on the glacier so I would recommend it to anyone who is in general good fit. In my opinion good guide should have a knowledge, experience and a sense of humour, our guide - Sam had it all! She made sure we are all safe, enjoy the experience and have some good photos 😍 Tour starts early enough so we could be one of the first ones on the glacier and avoid crowds especially at the bottom of the glacier (you will see them on the way back 😂) Some practical tips (except for those that you can find on the website): - once you arrive to the meeting point you can ask guides what weather will be like on the glacier so you can eventually take off or add more layers of clothes before the hike - don’t worry about bringing too much water as you can fill up your water bottle with the water from glacier - there is a toilet in the restaurant next to, but it opens at 9, however guides were okay waiting 5 mins so people can use it We were also very lucky with the weather 😍 All in all one of the best experiences I had in Iceland!

Adventure of a Lifetime. The Glacier Discovery Tour with Mary and Rakuel this September was amazing! There's only the two of us plus another couple and we got 2 tour guides all to ourselves. We hiked 5.3km on Vatnajokull Glacier for a half day. Mary was very patient in explaining how to use crampons and ensuring our safety. She's also super knowledgeable about the glacier. We got to see an ice bridge, tried fresh glacier water, and stepped foot on different kinds of glacier. Our tour time was slightly earlier than the other groups so we get to enjoy the glacier mostly just ourselves! I would highly recommend anyone going to Iceland to be taking a tour with them! If I return again in the winter I'd love to sign up for the Ice Cave Tour too.

Assuming the vehicle works and the weather corporates, these type of services is 100% dependent on the guide and the company not overselling the event. So if you're looking to save some money, know you may be on a "cattle bus" (one guide bragged about having 12 people on his tour - that's a lot to keep up with for a place like this)event. For most of us, this is a once in a lifetime event. I want the best Our guide took her time, explained what to expect, how to use our gear, and then explained what we were looking at. I'm embarrassed that I don't recall our guides name, but she's the Scottish lady.

I enjoyed a wonderful adventure on a glacier! Our guide Anna(I'm not sure this is the right spelling)was one of the best guide I've ever met. She kindly awnserd about all the questions about the glacier and took care all of her clients! I really loved her joke 'careful from ice in eyes' Fact that we can see different glacier every new tour, due to the glacier is moving was amazing! I'd really love for one more tour next time I visit Iceland.

We signed up for a 6 hours tour (Glacier Explore tour) It should be a must-to-do activity in Iceland! Our tour guide Lucy and Gilles (from France, sry if spelling wrong) were amazing, you can feel them truly enjoyed the work and brought us wonderful experiences. Definitely recommend everyone to try it.

Jan was the best guide! He was funny and made sure we were all safe as he took us up the glacier. Highly recommend the tour and ask for Jan!

Any absolutely amazing time!! Can't recommend this excursion enough. Our guides, Olga and Steve, were phenomenal and made sure we had a great time while keeping us safe. We spent close to 3.5 hrs on the glacier using crampons/ice axe for the Glacier Explorer (5.5 hr tour). After getting outfitted and waivers signed, it was a short 10 min drive, followed by about a 30 minute hike (including hiking up the glacier terminus). Then gearing up with crampons and we were glacier hiking and exploring.

My wife and I have a pleasant but not easy Glacier Explorer 5.5 hours hiking trip with experienced Guide Anna. She tactfully encourages both of us, a couple aged over 60, stepping forward and offers necesary support during the trip. Hiking uphill and downhill skills on ice which are proved to be very useful were taught in details. Finally, the whole group are arranged to face a challenge - hiking down a deep ice slope. Amazingly, my wife and I can do it. Thanks Anna.

We booked the 3 hour glacier experience tour. Our guide Yitzhak was great and very patient (even with a kid that never wanted to listen or follow his rules). It's booked as a 3 hour tour but you honestly only are on the glacier for maybe 30-45 mins. The rest of the time is spent getting geared up, bus ride to the glacier and initial hike through the national park. We would love to book a more advanced tour on our next visit.

Annie and Maija were amazing! They did a great job going very slow with all of our group. This is an easy to moderate hike. It does require you to be in pretty good health. This tour is amazing and very highly recommend.

Svartifoss

Waterfalls
Svartifoss, also known as Black Waterfall, is a stunning natural wonder located in Skaftafell National Park in Iceland. The waterfall drops 20 meters over a cliff surrounded by unique hexagonal black basalt columns, creating a picturesque and romantic scene. A hike to Svartifoss typically takes 2 to 3 hours and offers views of the waterfall, the Sjonarsker viewpoint, and the historic turf-roofed Sel farmhouse.
We walked up to the waterfalls from the car park, the entire walk and back took about two hours. It was foggy when we left but we were still able to get some lovely photographs once at the waterfall. The path was mostly easy to walk on but the descent to the waterfall itself was rocky, slippy, and uneven, all of our party managed it fairly easily though. We went early and avoided the crowds.

Loved this spot! Great view and spectacular waterfall. Amazing how much wind and spray the falling water can generate. Wear your raingear!

Amazing view of the falls Nice hike up there. The path is clearly mentioned. Went there early morning at around 9 am and there weren’t a lot of people. Hike is moderate, not difficult.

Svartifoss, located in Vatnajökull National Park in Iceland, is a stunning waterfall known for its dark basalt columns that resemble organ pipes. The name means “Black Falls.” Surrounded by rugged landscapes, it’s a popular hiking destination and one of Iceland’s most photographed natural wonders.
عبدالرزاق ا — Google review
Also known as, the “Black Waterfall,” is one of Iceland’s most iconic natural sights and a highlight of Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park. What makes it truly special is its unique setting — a cascade of water dropping gracefully over a backdrop of dark hexagonal basalt columns that look almost sculpted by hand. The striking contrast between the white water and the black rock gives it an almost cathedral-like appearance and has even inspired some of Iceland’s architectural designs, including Reykjavík’s Hallgrímskirkja. Reaching Svartifoss requires a moderate hike of about 30–45 minutes each way from the Skaftafell Visitor Center. The trail is well-marked and scenic, passing through lush green terrain (in summer) and offering smaller waterfalls along the way. The incline is steady but manageable for most visitors, and the payoff at the end is absolutely worth the effort. The viewpoint near the base provides the best perspective, though the rocks can be slippery, so good shoes are important. Because it’s one of the park’s most popular attractions, it can get busy during the day, especially in high season. Visiting early in the morning or closer to evening allows for a quieter and more peaceful experience. The lighting at those times also brings out the rich textures of the basalt columns beautifully. Facilities are conveniently located at the Skaftafell Visitor Center, including restrooms, parking, and a café, so it’s easy to plan your visit as part of a half-day exploration of the park. Weather can shift quickly in the area, so waterproof layers are always a smart choice. Overall, Svartifoss is one of Iceland’s must-see waterfalls — elegant, distinctive, and steeped in natural artistry. Its combination of accessible hiking, dramatic geology, and tranquil atmosphere makes it a memorable stop on any South Coast or Vatnajökull itinerary.

It feels I could enter Mordor (lord of the rings) if I had the secret code… impressive… worthwhile the walk up and down(bring crampons in winter)
Marianne B — Google review
Great place for a short hike. Pretty much all incline so be prepared for that! There are nice views and I recommend taking the short detour to Sel if you have the time because the view is lovel.
Michael L — Google review
Easy hike up but it is uphill there. They have the grating on the floor to make it easier and some wooden steps. A small bit with some rocks to walk down. About 30mns each way. Once you get there there's a viewing bridge but you can't see much. You walk along the path to the metal viewing platform to get close up 1000 krona to park unless you've camped there but the camping has no indoor kitchen. Free toilets and seating area

Vatnajökull National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Wild hiking trails in a 14,000 sq km glacier national park with visitor centers & camping grounds.
We did the waterfall trail. Stunning with basalt walls surrounding. Three different viewpoints. Up up up but the path is well maintained. Nice staff. Beautiful glacier. Views. Food truck available. Clean bathrooms.

A Hidden Gem in Skaftafell, Vatnajökull National Park If you love nature and hiking, Skaftafell – a breathtaking area within Vatnajökull National Park in Iceland – is absolutely worth a visit. The views from the top are unforgettable; it’s one of those rare moments when nature leaves you completely in awe. I found this place by accident, but it turned out to be one of the best surprises of my trip. Skaftafell is easily accessible via Route 1. The closest towns are Kirkjubæjarklaustur (about 70 km to the west) and Höfn (around 130 km to the east), making it an easy detour along the Ring Road. Once there, I discovered several marked hiking trails of varying difficulty. I chose the black trail – the most difficult and longest route – which leads to the Kristínartindar mountain peaks. Reaching the summit rewards you with stunning panoramic views and an up-close look at the vast glacier landscape surrounding you. I set off a bit unprepared – too little water and hiking alone – which I wouldn’t recommend. Mobile phone connection disappears as you approach the top, so if anything were to happen, help would be hard to reach. When I realize that, my hiking trip chage to real adventure :D What made this hike even more special was the solitude. The trail was almost empty, offering a truly peaceful and authentic connection with Icelandic nature, it is raw but beatiful! While the trail is technically manageable, the steady uphill climb adds a physical challenge that requires decent fitness. Proper hiking boots are a must, as some sections are rocky and uneven.
Niko G — Google review
One of Iceland’s greatest natural treasures — vast, diverse, and humbling in its sheer scale. Covering nearly 14% of the entire country, it’s Europe’s largest national park and home to Iceland’s most powerful landscapes: glaciers, volcanoes, ice caves, black deserts, and thundering waterfalls. At its heart lies the massive Vatnajökull glacier, the largest in Europe, surrounded by peaks, valleys, and rivers shaped by both ice and fire. Every corner of the park tells a story of geological power and constant transformation. What makes Vatnajökull so special is its incredible variety. In one area you can stand at the foot of a glacier like Skaftafellsjökull or Svínafellsjökull, while in another you’ll find deep canyons, glacial lagoons, or geothermal vents. The park includes famous destinations such as Jökulsárlón, Svartifoss, and Skaftafell, but also countless hidden gems for those who venture off the main paths. It’s a paradise for hikers, photographers, and anyone who loves raw, untamed nature. Accessibility is good along the South Coast, with well-maintained visitor centers like Skaftafell offering maps, guided tours, and facilities. However, once you step beyond the main areas, the park becomes truly wild — roads turn to gravel, trails become rugged, and cell signal fades. Preparation, proper gear, and respect for the elements are essential, especially for longer hikes or glacier exploration. Guided tours are strongly recommended for entering glaciers or ice caves safely. The weather can be unpredictable, with strong winds, sudden rain, or even snow outside of summer months. Still, every type of weather brings its own magic — mist over the ice, glowing sunsets over black sands, or the eerie blue of an ice cave in winter. Wildlife enthusiasts may also spot reindeer, Arctic foxes, or nesting birds depending on the season. Overall, Vatnajökull National Park is the ultimate showcase of Iceland’s natural drama. It’s a place where you can truly feel the planet’s power — where glaciers meet volcanoes, ice meets fire, and silence stretches across entire valleys. Whether you spend a few hours or several days, it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

This is a great park with a large campground. Our intended destination started out at Svartifoss Waterfall. On arrival, I learned that the hike was a little more intense and long than the Skaftafellsjokull glacial tongue hike including an 850 m elevation climb near the beginning of the hike. I decided to hike the glacier trail first and then circle back around for the waterfall without my partner who wasnt up to that hike. Sadly, weather turned nasty with very heavy rain so we got the glacier tongue in but I had to abandon the Svartifoss hike which was a disappointment. Vatnajokull has many hikes to choose from and you will find the one that works best for you. The park staff can be helpful in making these decisions. Be sure to stop in the visitor center to discuss options. The Skaftafellsjokull hike was great. Its only about 3.7 km (round trip). When you begin the trail you can choose left or straight.. stay left...its flatter, wider and entirely cultivated. Straight is a narrow, raw trail with large rocks and a lot of up and down though it does deliver a beautiful elevated view of the glacier lake when you arrive at the glaciers mouth that the other side doesnt. You also pass through great vegetation and flowers. On the other hand, the easier side takes you past some amazing basalt formations in the cliffs and a couple of small waterfalls. If you want to get very near the ice when you arrive stay far left. The trail takes you more right but you cant approach because there are wide rivers of water to cross. If you stay left you swing around these and can come out between them and the mouth of the glacier. Its a great hike, and for many, the closest they will get to a glacial tongue. Definitely a memorable experience. Remember, with glaciers come with danger so use caution and wise judgement. Never climb the ice without a trained guide. You want good footwear for this hike. The parking fee is 1000 ISK, however, if you visit Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon in the same day you will receive 50% off the second location and the parking app recognizes this and applies the discount for you. There are plenty of WC facilities here at the park...and very clean. It makes the price of parking worth it. There is a small gift shop as well as a cafe. We ate at the cafe and the food was very delicious especially the tomato soup. Definitely recommended. Plan a minimum of 2-3 hours here there is a lot to take in and its time well spent.

Wonderful world “ Vatnajokull”! Vatnajökull, located in southeast Iceland, is the largest glacier in Europe by volume and a defining feature of the Icelandic landscape This lake is fed by meltwater from Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Iceland. The melting ice flows onward to the Atlantic Ocean, which is not far from here—it’s even within walking distance. We visited during the autumn, yet there was still plenty of ice to see. Some of these ice chunks are hundreds or even thousands of years old. Some are speckled with black ash from volcanic eruptions, while others have a bluish tint due to the immense pressure they’ve been under for so long. If you stand still, you can hear the soft crackling of the melting ice. Climate change is right here in front of us—unmistakably real. Vatnajökull is a huge national park in Iceland with a mix of glaciers, volcanoes, and unique landscapes. You can hike through the Skaftafell area to see waterfalls and glacier tongues, or visit Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach to see icebergs in a lagoon and on the black sand. For a true adventure, consider a guided tour to go ice caving or glacier hiking. It's a must-see for any nature lover, just be sure to dress in layers!

This was amazing and I highly recommend you do some form of kayaking! Grab a lobster roll next door! Beautiful experience and you can walk across the road to diamond Beach and see the icebergs riding into the ocean!

Geologic Formations
Kirkjugólf Natural Monument is a protected natural pavement of basalt located 1.5 km east of Kirkjubaejarklaustur in Iceland. The site features hexagonal-shaped basalt columns that resemble tiles on a church floor, created by the erosion and shaping of the columns by wind and waves.
This little monument is a unique look at basalt columns. Take the short path from the parking area to reach it. Stop here and then up the road for the nearby falls for a rewarding side detour!
Tiffany W — Google review
In local language it’s called church floor. Though there was no church at all. Its is strange rock formation. Million years ago there was lava flow from the near by mountain. As the sea at that time was near the water covered the area soon after the deposition. Then due to the rapid cooling the rock ( basalt type) solidified quickly and crystallised in the typical form. The crystallised rock is within the soil and only the up portion is visible as such. Any one can spend 10 minutes here and take pictures. This a curious sight only for common people aside geologists.
Atis B — Google review
No that much to see, but still very interesting and only a small wal away from the parking lot. A free parking lot! Time to spend: no more then a few minutes. Looks, like a lot of things in Iceland, not out of this world.

Very cool structure leftover by volcanoes. Not far off the main road and short walk to the site. Easy stop on a day trip of sight seeing.

🌍 Explore, Taste, and Travel with Us! Follow our adventures and food journeys on Insta: vibrant_wanderer_rhythm Not a necessary stop really. It is the ruins of a church. Though the small piece of land/ rocks is beautiful and is on the way with a small 500 m detour, would not say it’s a necessary stop to make. Happy exploring

Fjaðrárgljúfur

Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Fjaðrárgljúfur is a 2 million-year-old river canyon in Iceland, carved by the Fjadhra River through thick rock. The canyon offers a walking path with panoramic views of verdant cliffs, deep valleys, and the serpentine river. Hikers can descend to the river or trek along the canyons edge for stunning Instagrammable views.
Beautiful canyon and waterfall. It’s a good hike up hill to the waterfall but the canyon views are well worth it. It does cost to park and free to get in.
Dave H — Google review
One of Iceland’s most striking and photogenic canyons — a winding, moss-covered masterpiece carved by the Fjaðrá River over thousands of years. Located near the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, this 2-kilometer-long and up to 100-meter-deep canyon looks almost unreal, like something out of a fantasy movie (and in fact, it’s featured in Justin Bieber’s “I’ll Show You” video, which brought it sudden fame). The first thing that strikes you upon arrival is the scale — the canyon’s steep, mossy walls twist and turn dramatically as the river snakes below. Walking along the marked path above gives you breathtaking views from multiple vantage points, each one better than the last. The best viewpoints are toward the end of the trail, where the canyon opens up beautifully and you can see the river cascading down from the highlands. Because of its sudden rise in popularity, parts of the canyon have been closed at times to allow the delicate moss to recover from heavy foot traffic. Visitors are urged to stay on the marked trails and respect closures to help preserve this fragile landscape. Even with these restrictions, there’s still plenty of beauty to take in safely and respectfully. The weather here can shift quickly, and mist or light rain only adds to the canyon’s mystique — though it also makes the paths slippery, so good footwear is essential. Parking is free and conveniently located near the trailhead, and the hike itself is relatively easy, taking about 30–40 minutes round-trip depending on how often you stop to take photos (which, honestly, will be often). Fjaðrárgljúfur perfectly captures Iceland’s blend of drama and serenity — a place where nature’s artistry is on full display. It’s easy to see why it’s become such a beloved spot for travelers, photographers, and anyone who wants to feel small in the best possible way.

It's an easy hike with a few observation points along the way. It doesn't take long to see ot all. Yet another beautiful, though small canyon with great colors, rock formations, and a couple of waterfalls at the head.

Unbelievably beautiful! Would highly recommend to come early in the morning to see the sunrise! One of the most beautiful places ever!!

Absolutely stunning place! The canyon is breathtaking and 100% worth a visit! Parking costs a small fee 1000isk - I recommend parking at the top, where you’ll find the viewing platform with the best views. The toilet at the lower parking area was closed between 12:30 and 17:00, but everything else was clean and well maintained. Yes, it’s a bit touristy, but the beauty of nature makes up for it! Afterwards, continue on the F206 - a dreamy off-road adventure and pure Iceland vibes! 🚐
Michelle K — Google review
Beautiful, great canyon. Definitely worth a visit. Gravel path up the side of the canyon as you park at the bottom (paid parking). Views are amazing across the landscape. There are a few viewpoints at the top into the canyon.

Undeniably beautiful but Pretty crowded spot. And the cat walk bottle necks to the best views so you’ll probably find lineup of people trying to get photos
Brandon F — Google review
We stumbled into this spot, not knowing what awaited us, and we were all stunned at the scale of the canyon. Even the valley the canyon sits within is beautiful in its own right. We parked at the top parking site along F206, which is free, but the road is very rough. (7 Aug 2024)

5 stars isn't enough. This place is wonderful. The location is great, very close to Vik and local sightseeing. The views from our room was breathtaking. Clean and spacious, comfortable bed. Large kitchen with everything you need. Highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing stay. Super clean and well furnished room, clean and relaxing bathroom, and beautiful view of the coast. Staff was friendly. Somewhat pricey but to be expected for Iceland and the quality of the stay that you end up getting.

Great place to stay in a quiet spot just outside Vik. The apartments are modern, comfortable, and spacious. The shower in our unit was lacking an entry or door (why is this a thing? impossible to contain the water). Still would recommend as a very nice place to stay as a jumping point for all the south coast points of interest.

great location, well equipped studio apartment with modern interior. Super clean and cozy even in winter- great balcony view to the ocean and even able to spot northern lights! Clean and modern bathrooms as well, great service and friendly staff! Great value for money. Definitely visiting again :)

The best place ever where we stayed on our 10 day trip to Iceland this month. We spent three wonderful nights in a delightful suite with our own kitchen and amenities. Comfortable bed and modern /clean lines throughout. Our second floor balcony looked out at the beach / lighthouse. And to top it all off we finally got to see the Northern Lights one clear night. I would highly recommend to anyone. Five plus star rating!! Thank you to all the wonderful staff answering our ignorant questions ;-)

Great stay! Front desk was warm and welcoming, letting us checking in a bit earlier. Room and bathroom were amazing. They provided coffee, tea, kettle, microwave, oven and everything you need to cook, including oil, salt and pepper.

We stayed at Black Beach Suites, and it far surpassed our expectations. The bonus of having a mudroom and separate bathroom area made it especially convenient and provided a nice sense of privacy. The view of the black sand beach from our full wall of glass windows — and from the porch — was absolutely stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights right from our windows and porch! Parking was easy — we were able to drive up, unload our bags, and park directly in front of the suite. The room itself was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare full meals, including a stovetop, microwave, fridge, dining area, and a comfortable couch. There was also complimentary coffee and tea, which was a nice touch. On our second night, we were initially booked in the hostel portion called The Barn, but after experiencing the suites, we decided to upgrade — and the staff was incredibly accommodating. They moved us to the deluxe suite, which was very nice, though we actually preferred the standard one for its layout and convenient mudroom. Overall, Black Beach Suites offered a perfect combination of comfort, practicality, and unforgettable views — we would absolutely stay here again.

Iceland Oct 2025 From the moment His Majesty and I crossed the threshold of this resplendent Icelandic haven, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of understated opulence and Nordic charm. Our three-night sojourn felt less like a hotel stay and more like a curated experience in refined hospitality. The staff, ever gracious and impeccably mannered, anticipated our needs with the kind of intuitive finesse one typically reserves for palace attendants. Our suite—an exquisite blend of modern elegance and cozy sophistication—boasted every amenity one might desire, from plush linens that whispered luxury to a décor so tastefully orchestrated it could have been lifted from the pages of Architectural Digest. The view? Positively cinematic. Each morning greeted us with a panorama so breathtaking, it felt as though Iceland herself had arranged the landscape for our private enjoyment. The location, too, was nothing short of perfection—close enough to the pulse of adventure, yet secluded enough to preserve our royal tranquility. Needless to say, we are already plotting our triumphant return.

Reynisfjara Beach

Reynisfjara Beach is a must-visit destination in Iceland, featuring striking black sand and impressive basalt columns. The beach is known for its powerful waves and stunning rock formations, making it a popular stop for travelers. Nearby, the town of Vik i Myrdal offers a glimpse into local life and provides opportunities to enjoy warm meals and local crafts. Visitors should exercise caution due to strong currents and sneaker waves that can be dangerous.
The black volcanic sand gives the whole beach a surreal, otherworldly vibe. And the basalt cliffs: they look like something straight out of The Fifth Element. It’s wild, cinematic, and absolutely unforgettable.
Kateryna M — Google review
Quite impressive scenic black sand beach, but I only spent a few minutes there, because it was way too crowded during the day. Also, mind the deadly sneaker waves!!
Daniel R — Google review
What an amazing place! It was rainy and windy the day we visited, but that did not dampen our amazement at this otherworldly beach. The basalt columns are quite intriguing and provide great photo opportunities, and the lava cave is a pretty neat place to check out as well. Definitely a must-see place just off the ring road.
Kevin H — Google review
Absolutely stunning place! Reynisfjara Black Beach is one of the most beautiful and powerful spots I’ve ever visited. The black volcanic sand, massive basalt columns, and the roaring Atlantic waves make it feel almost otherworldly. You can truly feel the raw energy of nature here. But it’s also a place where you have to be careful, the waves can be crazy and come out of nowhere, so it’s best to keep your distance from the water. Still, standing there and taking it all in is unforgettable. A must-see when visiting Iceland!
Dorian N — Google review
Very nice place, but 1000 people is too much for that beach. Way too touristic! Still give 5 stars if you visit early in the morning, before the flood of people comes.
Marius A — Google review
A must see spot in Southern Iceland, be careful of the weather as it changes rapidly. The beach is safe prepared with instructions and guidelines, no swimming but the views make up for it.
Przem K — Google review
One of Iceland’s most famous black sand beaches, known for its dramatic basalt columns, sea stacks, and roaring Atlantic waves. The scenery is undeniably breathtaking, with the stark contrast of black sand against the ocean and cliffs creating an atmosphere that feels almost otherworldly. However, what makes Reynisfjara so beautiful is also what makes it dangerous. The weather here is notoriously volatile, shifting from calm to stormy in minutes, and the waves are unpredictable and extremely powerful. Sneaker waves can rush far up the beach without warning, and rockfalls from the cliffs are a real hazard, so keeping a safe distance from both the water and the cliffs is essential. Despite the risks, Reynisfjara remains one of the most visited places in Iceland, partly thanks to its cinematic appeal. It was featured in Game of Thrones (Season 7, Episodes 5 and 6) as the setting for Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, which has drawn even more crowds. Even during storms and heavy winds, you’ll often find groups of tourists braving the elements to see the site for themselves. The beach is accessible by a short drive from the village of Vík, with a large parking area and basic facilities, but once you step onto the sand you are completely exposed to nature. The mix of dramatic views and harsh conditions means you’ll want to dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes, and stay alert at all times. Reynisfjara is at its best when treated with respect. It’s a place to admire the raw power of Iceland’s coastline rather than a spot to relax. Photographers and nature lovers will find it unforgettable, but safety should always come first. Overall, Reynisfjara is one of Iceland’s must-see natural wonders, both awe-inspiring and intimidating. Its global fame and striking appearance make it unmissable, but visitors should be fully aware of the risks and avoid the temptation to get too close to the waves or cliffs.
R — Google review
Very cool location. Especially on a clear day. The waves here are HUGE. I enjoyed watching people turn their backs to the waves to take selfies and end up wet. Parking and bathrooms can be difficult. Large number of buses coming through all day.

Dyrhólaey, located 10km west of Vik in Iceland, is a small peninsula with stunning natural formations and breathtaking views. Once a volcanic island known as Cape Portland, it is now connected to the mainland and offers panoramic vistas of Iceland's South Coast. The area is home to a rich birdlife, including puffins nesting along the cliffs. Visitors can enjoy the crashing black-sand beaches and marvel at the large stone sea arch rising from the sea.
Visited in late July on a rainy day and had great views of the puffins along the cliffs. It’s a beautiful place. Parking was easy. The drive was fine too. We were there in the morning and it was not too busy at that time.

Li excellent view point where you can see glaciers on 1 side and black sand each on the other side. Walk around 1 km to reach various view points. Paid parking is available
Neelamegam B — Google review
A beautiful area with nice views all around. Can walk along the cliff, or simply drive between the vistas here depending on your preference. On the east side, enjoy views of birds and rock formations. On the west side, enjoy a view of a seemingly endless black sand beach. Do a brief lap around the lighthouse and you'll also get a nice vista of the iconic arch formation. Much of the cliff is all chained off now so you can't go too near the edge for safety reasons. Lots of wildlife around to enjoy. Note: cameras scan your license plate as you drive in, so be prepared to pay for parking.

Most of my time in Iceland the sky was cloudy and overcast, but the skies finally opened up my trip to Dyrhólaey, and I was so glad they did! This was one of the most scenic places I have ever been, top notch views in every direction! From the ocean views to the cliffs, to the black sand beaches, this entire area never disappoints no matter what angle you see it. Do yourself a favor, and make the trek out to this most wondrous location!
David K — Google review
Beautiful location and cliff views. Lots of puffins August 5. The upper parking lot was full when we arrived around 11am so a lot of cars were parked along the roadside. They were in the process of installing cameras to enforce the parking fee.
Jenny W — Google review
Stunning views of the ocean and a great place to see puffins. We were there and we saw many puffins. It was very windy on top of the cliff, so be prepared! It was beautiful and you could look over the black sand beach.
Henry S — Google review
This Lighthouse location is perfect for watching Puffins, as well as a gorgeous panoramic view of the black sand beaches of the southern coast of Iceland. The drive up to the lighthouse is on a windy narrow two lane road, and watch out for the random pedestrians who like to hike up the road for some unknown reason. the historic Turf Houses that are part of the Skógar Museum (Skógasafn) Open Air Museum. These houses are located right near the Skógafoss waterfall (the wide, powerful one in your other photo), making it a very convenient and popular stop on the South Coast. Here are some details about this fascinating part of Icelandic history: 🏠 Skógar Museum Turf Houses Location: In the village of Skógar, just a minute's drive from Skógafoss. Architecture: These structures are a fantastic example of traditional Icelandic architecture, known as torfbæir. They were the primary form of dwelling in Iceland for over 1,000 years. Purpose of Turf: Turf (sod) was used because wood was scarce on the island, and the thick layers of turf and stone provided superior insulation against the harsh, cold, and wet climate compared to simple wooden structures. The Look: The houses are often built directly into a hillside, as you see in the video, to provide extra protection and insulation from the back. The grass on the roof makes them look like they are part of the landscape. The Museum: The museum features a collection of these and other historical buildings, which were moved from different areas of the region and reconstructed on-site to preserve regional heritage.

My wife and I had an absolutely unforgettable time on the Buggy Tour with Southcoast Adventure. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The scenery was breathtaking, and the buggies were a blast to drive. But what truly made it exceptional were our guides, Dori and Inga. Their expertise, humor, and genuine care for our group made the experience truly memorable. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Their enthusiasm and passion for Iceland truly made the tour special. I highly recommend Southern Adventures Tour to anyone looking for an adventure in Iceland!

The South Coast Adventure Buggy Trip was honestly one of the most unforgettable experiences we had in Iceland. It lasted about three hours, and during that time we drove through rocky, steep trails, crossed rivers, explored a cave, and even visited some incredible filming locations. What made it even better was our guide, Alejandro. He’s super responsible and always made sure we felt safe, but at the same time he knows exactly how to bring out all the fun and thrill of off-road driving. He shared so much interesting knowledge about glaciers and the landscape in such a professional yet easy way, and he’s also such a fun, charismatic person to be around — you never feel bored with him. Thanks to him, the whole trip was not just exciting, but also truly joyful and memorable

My husband and I went on a 2-2.5 hour buggy ride in May 25 and had an amazing time. There were only us and two guides in our group so we drove at our pace the whole time. We got kitted out from head to foot in safety gear which kept us both warm and dry the whole time. My husband drove first and then we swapped over something got to drive for a while and then he drove back to Basecamp. Our guides were amazing, sorry I can't remember their names, they took a fun selfie so you'll recognise them 😂They showed us some amazing geological features of the area in spite of the low cloud and rain. We loved the river crossings and splashing through puddles and exploring on foot. 100% recommend using South Coast Adventure

This was the only negative I have about this was that they offered to book the tour for may but after some research it seems no one can really get into there until June. But back to the tour we got, we got Aron as our guide in a super jeep and he made the day incredible for us taking us on roads we’d never dare to drive on, up the side of a mountain to view Hekla, and the surround area that felt like another planet. He took us through some river crossings, an old Viking village and some short hikes to secluded areas with breathtaking nature. Over all we were extremely satisfied with the outcome not knowing what to expect after our Landmannalaugar was canceled. Would highly recommend south coast to anyone looking for a super jeep tour.

Gljúfrabúi

Waterfalls
Nestled in a narrow canyon, Gljúfrabúi is a breathtaking waterfall that offers an enchanting experience just a short stroll from the more famous Seljalandsfoss. This hidden gem in South Iceland invites adventurers to navigate through rocky terrain and shallow waters to reach its stunning cascade. As you approach, be prepared for the refreshing mist that envelops you, creating a magical atmosphere.
This waterfall is a short and easy 10 minute walk from Seljialandfoss. Once you get to the entrance, you will have to walk on top of several rocks through a narrow passage in order to get a full view of the hidden waterfall. Once inside, the view is spectacular and you will get wet from the mist. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice hidden waterfall. You have to walk on rocks through the stream to get there. Bring rain gear and waterproof boots. Well worth the hike.

Visited a waterfall in Rangárþing eystra — absolutely stunning! Powerful, breathtaking, and surrounded by incredible Icelandic landscapes. The mist, the views from the top, the sheer force of nature — unforgettable. A must-see!
Dorian N — Google review
Located right next to Seljalandsfoss, this waterfall is hidden deep within a narrow canyon. Entering through a small gap in the rocks, you’ll find a magnificent waterfall about 40 meters high. The area around the basin is filled with mist, so waterproof gear is essential. The view of the waterfall from inside the cave is truly breathtaking.
HiDe86 — Google review
Gorgeous waterfall in a crevice! Totally worth getting my sneakers a little wet. Rain boots or other waterproof shoes would be the best option since you do have to walk a very short distance through the stream to see the waterfall, but there are rocks to balance on.
Maya B — Google review
The most beautiful waterfall! A raincoat and shoe covers are a must. Advice: if you don't have shoe covers, so as not to wet the niches, then put a plastic bag inside your shoes, this will protect you! The views are amazing!!! Enjoy!

Gljúfrabúi feels like a hidden gem tucked away near Seljalandsfoss. To get to it, you squeeze through a narrow opening in the rocks, and once inside, you’re surrounded by cliffs with the waterfall cascading down—it feels almost magical. We went right after visiting Seljalandsfoss, and it was absolutely worth the short walk. You will get wet, so make sure to wear waterproof footwear. Such a breathtaking and unique experience!
Vanessa R — Google review
This hidden waterfall is worth the short walk—just follow the narrow path and step carefully across river stones. I was lucky to have it almost to myself, but on my way out, a large tour group was just arriving. So it was a little tight to pass them with water on the side. Peaceful and magical when it’s quiet.

Seljalandsfoss is a stunning 200-foot waterfall fed by a volcanic glacier, allowing visitors to walk behind it for a unique perspective. It's part of the South Coast attractions in Iceland, along with Skogarfoss waterfall and the Skogar Folk museum featuring reconstructed Icelandic turf houses. Optional activities like snowmobile or ATV tours are available in the area.
Amazing waterfall and you can walk behind it (*grab a raincoat). Great view. Also you can go in the right of the waterfall (as you stand with the waterfall behind you) and you'll find another waterfall inside a cave, pretty cool.

Must see - bottom of waterfall views are easy access for all abilities. We climbed to the top and went an additional 2 miles down the trail. Plan for crowds and all types of weather.

Beautiful water falls and many different views. Can walk to the backside of the falls and capture some amazing photos. Carry a proper water proof wear/ rain coat. In summer itself the temperature was almost 0 degrees.

This waterfall is a must-see; what makes it special is that you can walk behind it. A parking lot is in the immediate vicinity, as well as restrooms, a souvenir shop, and a snack bar.
Daniel B — Google review
Beautiful waterfall and definitely worth a stop! Be prepared to get really wet - waterproof clothes are a must! There’s a cute souvenir shop and a nice little food truck by the parking area. Clean toilets, parking costs 1000 ISK. Only minus: it’s very touristy, but still an amazing experience overall!
Michelle K — Google review
It is stunning scene in front of the waterfall. Rainbow appears over the waterfall due to reflection of sunlight in the water mist.
Dominic C — Google review
In a country of spectacular waterfalls this is one of the standouts, but be prepared to get very wet! Getting anywhere near to Seljalandsfoss, and especially if you walk behind it, you will get soaked, so make sure you have a good waterproof jacket and trousers. The kiosk in the car park sells cheap ponchos if you’ve not come prepared, and there’s also decent toilets and a small cafe. As this is close to the ring road, and on everyone’s must see list, you can’t escape the crowds, but the circular route under the falls keeps people moving, so there’s never much of a holdup, especially as everyone is getting soaked. The car park is not huge, and, there’s a fee, but attendants were doing a good job of finding spaces and keeping cars moving.

One of my favorite waterfalls in Iceland so far. The short walk to the falls is very easy, and going around the falls is a very fun experience. Just be sure to take rain gear, you can get sprayed with tons of mist when you go around the falls. If you continue around the trail, there is another waterfall that you can walk through a little cave creek to get to it. There can be lots of tourists there, so try to get there early.

Midgard Adventure is a tour operator and travel agency located in Hvolsvollur, Rangarthing eystra, with a population of about 2000. The company offers authentic experiences with local and highly experienced guides. Hotel Hvolsvollur provides friendly accommodation for all travelers, offering sixty-six rooms including triples and doubles. Additionally, the area boasts various dining options such as Valhalla Restaurant and Gallery Pizza Restaurant.
My daughter and I booked the Midgard Adventure guided day hike for Þórsmörk. Our guide Ragnar took us on a stunningly beautiful hike and did an excellent job encouraging me, because I was the least fit of the group. He provided interesting geological and historical information for the area and Iceland as a whole, as well as funny commentary that kept us all laughing. The Midgard base camp was well stocked and easy to get to. The entire experience was stress free and an amazing adventure. Would book again and recommend to all.

We had a fantastic Super Jeep Tour into the Highlands to Landmannalaugar with Midgard. Our guide David led the tour with a great sense of humor and deep knowledge about Iceland. Even though the weather in the Highlands can change extremely quickly, I always felt safe and well taken care of thanks to his experience. The scenery is truly breathtaking – at times it feels like being on another planet. For anyone who wants to experience Iceland in a very special way and has the time (and the budget), this tour is absolutely worth it!

We did the Þórsmörk Super Jeep Tour in late October 2025. Ragnar was our guide - and he was not only a fantastic driver but entertained us the entire day with the most interesting stories about Icelandic geology, history, customs and myths. Ragnar - you are the best (even though you ‘made us looking for stones for 10 minutes and enjoyed it ;-)! We saw a lot of the fantastic wilderness - glaciers, waterfalls, hidden valleys and a cave. Our day was rounded up by a hike to the top of a mountain with an amazing view and lunch at one of the cabins in the area. After our return, we had dinner at the Midgard Base Camp - yummy! Thanks to entire team for an unforgettable adventure.

If you travel to Iceland and don't spend some time with the Midgard family, I'm sorry ... you're doing it wrong! Great accommodations, great people, great tours and great food! If/when I return to Iceland I will book with Midgard again.

We booked the Þórsmörk Super Jeep Tour with Holly as our guide. It was amazing! Holly talked to us about Iceland geology and took us to various locations of interest. We started at Landeyjahöfn black sand beach, across from the island of Vestmannaeyjar, then drove to Þórsmörk. We got to see the massive Eyjafjallajökull glacier then walked through the Stakkholtsgjá canyon. Stopped for lunch and had a short hike then drove to another hike at Basar á Goðalandi. At the end of the day on the way back to base camp one of the massive tires blew but Holly did an incredible job of controlling the Jeep and getting us to the side of the road and to safety. The day was beautiful, the company was great, and overall we were extremely happy with our tour. Would definitely recommend for a stress free, adventure filled day.

My wife and I took Midgard Adventure’s 7 day Epic Midgard Trek and it was truly epic! This is a great tour and a great family-run company. We started with a night at Midgard Base Camp where the staff could not have been more friendly and the food was truly excellent. Lamb skewers and arctic char were both delicious. We finished the evening soaking in the hot tub. The next morning we were off in a super jeep that took us to an off-the-beaten path trailhead in a “high heat” area where we walked through steaming lava vents. All of day one was off trail and spectacular. We are experienced hikers and this was our best day of hiking ever….as in ever! Our tour guide Thorir was as local as local gets, born and raised in town. He literally knew everyone in town and many guides on the trail. That said on Day 1 we were absolutely alone for most of the day, absorbing the unimaginable beauty of the changing Icelandic scenery. Hiking days 2, 3 & 4 were on the world famous Laugavegur trail which brought us into contact with many backpackers from across the world; it was fun to chat and compare stories. We slept in huts which was a fun experience but definitely made better by having ear plugs (someone always snores)! Plus we saw the Northern Lights which was a great bonus! Day 5 was the AMAZING Fimmvörðuháls trail. A 15 mile demanding hike up 1000m through glaciers and lava fields, plus a gazillion amazing waterfalls. Midgard transported our packs from place to place and delivered fresh food, veggies and bread daily. We just carried water and day clothing. A true glamping experience foodwise! We HIGHLY recommend Midgard Adventures as a company and Midgard Base Camp for excellent food and as a place to stay and use as a base camp. We are in our late 50’s and work out several times a week. The 7 day hike is for folks who are in good shape and can handle several 12 mile days of hiking with ups and downs in a row. Nothing technical in term of hiking but it’ll keep your muscles toned and moving! And it’s well worth getting into shape for! You will not be disappointed!

Had the greatest time on Day Hike Tour to Thorsmork. The entire experience was incredible. The guide knew the area very well. We had great weather for our hike but the guide told us that they are able to adjust their hikes based on the conditions. I will definitely recommend Midgard Adventure to my friends!

Our experience with Midgard Adventure was absolutely incredible. We took a private super Jeep tour into Þórsmörk for our wedding photography session. Our guide, Alessandro, was great, and we had an amazing evening. They were flexible and it was all around just so much fun. A few days later, Midgard went above and beyond for us on our wedding day. At 6 in the morning as I got ready in Reykjavik, I decided to email Midgard to see if we could stop in at their base camp for make up touch ups before going to our ceremony location 15 minutes away. I figured we would just use the bathroom in the lobby. Harpa replied not long after saying yes of course and even showed us a private area we could use. It was incredibly kind of them. We cannot recommend Midgard Adventure enough! First two photos by Ívar Eyþórsson.

Eldheimar is a museum located in Westman Island, Iceland, showcasing the complex nature of the business environment. The museum features more than 400 buildings buried under lava from the 1973 eruption, with a special focus on one house excavated from 50m of pumice.
Lovely museum and very informative about volcanoes and the tragedy that they can cause. Such an interesting island, definitely worth visiting!!!
Kay W — Google review
We're not usually museum people, but we had some time to kill on the island before our ferry departed so we went here. It was great actually. Loved how the museum is built around a house that was mostly destroyed by the eruption and there were lots of great videos and displays. Spent a little less than an hour there as the place was closing and it was about the right amount of time to see it.
Stephen L — Google review
Excellent museum. It was aesthetically beautiful and well laid out. The headset guided tour was very good and available in many languages, not just English and Icelandic. We learned so much about the island from this museum, and it provided greater context to everywhere we went on the island. My 6 year old was a little scared once we started getting into the sections about the eruption itself (because the storytelling in the audio tour really is compelling) but there was an inactive sand thing for him to play with, and that occupied him. Don't forget to check out the upstairs section about the Surtsey explosion too--- that was also fascinating :)
Kathryn H — Google review
This museum is built on the site of the 1973 eruption of the Eldfell volcano. The remains of a home destroyed by the volcano is at its center. It provides audio and an immersive, multimedia experience to convey the volcano's horrific impact on the community. It also celebrates how the island worked together to rebuild. There are special exhibits on the second floor.
Barb ( — Google review
We were really amazed by the detailed depiction of the eruption and how the people of the island fought against it.
Marko K — Google review
Interesting subject matter and the display of the excavated home was cool to see. But the displays were flashy but lacked clarity. Lots of noisy displays that really did not add to the information. Overall I would rate this as a "meh" experience as it was pricey. More impactful to us were the ash poles sprinkled around town and the partially buried house just outside of the museum.

Ribsafari offers an exhilarating one-hour tour around the Westman Islands on a small speedboat. The boat can navigate into watery caves along the shore, providing a unique and invigorating experience. The tour includes music, historical and geological information about the islands, and sightings of caves, birds, and the impressive Elephant Rock. The friendly staff provides waterproof suits to keep participants dry and warm during the adventure.
This boat tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland! We had Kristin as our guide and Eythor as our captain and they were amazing!! The views were stunning coupled with the music they played on the ride. Kristin was a wonderful storyteller and also gave us a lot of recommendations to checkout on the island for the rest of the day. I’d definitely recommend the earlier tour so you can also get some recs from the team. Make sure to bring gloves and hats. We also regretted not doing the 2-hour tour, so definitely book the longer one if your budget/time allow. It was so much fun, 12/10 I’d do it again and again!

Absolutely amazing time. A must do while at Westman Islands. We got a potential wind warning before 9 am for our 12 pm trip that the wind was too high and to stand by. However, the captain was able to alter the route so we stayed around the East side of the Iceland. And it was freaking amazing. Music was great. Captain Omar was skilled. Our guide Albert had really nice personal stories. I can do this trip every day!

Amazing experience. Easy to get to from the ferry and only takes an hour to see a lot of the beautiful islands of Westman-islands. And still leaves you with plenty of time to see more of the island. The tour guide Kristin and the sailor was really skilful, funny and informative. You could tell that safety was THE top priority.

This was a really fun, fast boat ride with music. We enjoyed it even though the weather was not great. We saw sea caves and puffins and the beautiful islands.

Highly recommend this trip- for the one hour. The tour around the island is amazing and fun. They play music while going full speed around the island and they tell you some history and stories on the islands around. You can see some caves, birds and the best is the elephant rock- was awesome. The staff was so nice and kind. The tour was fully booked online, but we still went to their office and were able to book tickets. So give it a try anyways, even if it’s booked online.

It was tremendous experience, I recommend it to everyone who loves sea, feeling freedom and enjoy energy. And of course SEE PUFFINS 🥰🥰🥰

What a fun experience. We rode these powerful boats around the islands surrounding the main island. Thor told us many great stories and the music added to the experience (especially in the caves). We saw the Elephant Rock!!! We saw puffins, tho the boat scared them underwater. We even saw two Orca pods on the ride back. Definitely recommend trying this!

Eyjatours in Iceland offers a puffin and volcano tour that provides a great overview of the island. The tour guide, Ebbi, is passionate about the island and its history. He not only runs the tour but also works on converting a Viking stone house into an educational venue for children. The tour is recommended for solo travelers as well and provides insights into historical and cultural aspects of the island while offering sightings of puffins from a distance.
The Puffin & Volcano Tour with Ebbi is a must-do 2-hour tour in Vestmannaeyjar! Ebbi is so friendly, fun, entertaining & knowledgeable while taking you through his entire hometown. We got to enjoy the natural beauty & culture of Iceland including a tour into the Viking history. Super fun & unforgettable. Thank you Ebbi!

Did the puffin and volcano tour, Ebbi was a great guide, took us to all placers to see on the small island, had a lot of jokes. Visited the puffins, so cute! Would take another tour with Ebbi any given time. Visited some real 'viking' houses, learned what 'sprangan' means, wnet to 'thez most windy place in Europe' Great tour!

Amazing tour! Highly recommend. Our tour guide was so much fun and humorous and entertained even my kids age 11 and 13. I learned so much on the tour and got to see all the great spots on the island. We saw lots of puffin, so that was definitely the highlight, but really the whole tour was a perfect thing to complete our trip to the island.
Catherine B — Google review
My family of four thoroughly enjoyed Ebbi’s tour. His sense of humor, local roots, and easy style were greatly appreciated. My elementary school aged daughters loved learning about puffins and volcanos. Well worth the time and money, highly recommend for your consideration.

Thank you, Ebbi, for a world-class, two hour tour of the island your family has called "home" for hundreds of years. I really appreciated both your humor, and your local knowledge, from the Viking houses to the "Puffling Patrol."
Chad K — Google review
Wonderful tour! Worth doing if you come to Iceland! Learned a lot from Ebbi! He was quite funny and entertaining! Got to see so much of the island! And the puffins were so fun to see. Also wanted to mention that we miss-estimated the time it would take to get to the island (based on the ferry times) and arrived 20 mins late due to this. They were kind enough to take us in another van to join the tour (that had already started), and we were so appreciative of that. We would have been so sad if we had missed it! Thank you for accommodating us! Had some amazing pizza and beer after the tour, while we waited for our return ferry. Be sure to check ferry timings before you book tour so you don’t make the same mistake we did!

The Puffin and Volcano tour was an excellent way to explore Heimaey's many sites. Ebbi was an excellent guide and so very knowledgeable as an actual 'Islander'. His demonstration of the cliff climbing for eggs was impressive (particularly in the rain). Even in inclement weather, the tour was amazing and a definite 'must do' for anyone visiting the Vestmannaeyjar!
Brian W — Google review
While the tour is called Puffins and Volcanoes it was so much more. Our guide Ebbi was so knowledge and included a number of stops around the island. We were fully engaged from the time we stepped into the bus. We would highly recommend taking this tour. You will enjoy it.

Strokkur Geyser is a popular geothermal attraction located in the Geysir area of Iceland. While the old Geysir is inactive, Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes, shooting water up to 15-20 meters high. The surrounding area also features other geysers and hot springs, creating an otherworldly landscape for visitors to explore.
Nice hot springs and geyser. It shoots every 5-8 minutes and is short. Worth the wait to get it on camera as I missed it the first time. Great view from the top of the mountain. Free to see. Does cost to park. Also has a nice give shop and snack bar.

Absolutely amazing place! The geysers erupt regularly and it’s truly fascinating to watch the power of nature so close. The steam, the sound, and the sudden burst of hot water create an unforgettable experience. The area is well organized with clear paths and good viewing spots, and it’s easy to take great photos. A must-see stop on any trip to Iceland!

The Strkkur Geyser is certainly something to see if you've never seen see anything like this before. I did feel a little bit underwhelmed, but that's just me. It is amazing how the water heats up and bubbles away. The Geysir Centre across the road has toilets, food, drink and the standard souvenir shop. They have cold weather clothing for sale, but be prepared for the high price! Worth the trip and recommend a visit, but don't worry about FOMO if you don't.
W Q — Google review
This was our very first time seeing a geyser in action—and it was absolutely amazing. The anticipation alone is worth the visit: the water begins to bubble and swell for a few minutes, building up this quiet tension… and then the showstopper erupts with a burst of power that’s raw, dramatic, and unforgettable. We were completely mesmerized and ended up staying long enough to watch it erupt three or four times. Each time felt just as exciting as the first. Beyond the main geyser, the area is dotted with smaller steaming pools and bubbling hot spots that look almost otherworldly. A heads-up: the sulfur smell is strong—very “rotten eggs.” For a moment I genuinely thought I was the one smelling, but it’s just the geothermal activity. You get used to it quickly. It does get a bit crowded so if you want the perfect shot, have patience. There is no entrance fee. Getting there is easy. You can drive straight to the paid online parking right across from the geyser area, which is extremely convenient. There’s also a large store (expensive)beside the parking lot where you can grab warm clothing, souvenirs, or a quick snack before or after exploring. An unforgettable stop—don’t rush it, stay for multiple eruptions!
VB — Google review
Strokkur Geyser was absolutely beautiful! I visited in January, so it was quite cold, but there are nearby buildings where you can warm up for a bit between eruptions. Such a stunning natural wonder — I’m really glad I went!
Savanah E — Google review
Several geysers are scattered throughout this area, but the largest and most active one is Strokkur, which erupts every seven to ten minutes. After the first eruption, it often erupts again about 15 to 20 seconds later, so if you stay and wait, you can witness a second burst. Around the geyser, tourists stand ready with their cameras to capture the perfect moment, but it’s best not to wait on the downwind side. In strong winds, there’s a chance that the hot water from the eruption could be blown toward you.
HiDe86 — Google review
The undeniable star of the Haukadalur geothermal area, and witnessing it erupt feels almost unreal no matter how many times you’ve seen it on video. The geyser erupts every few minutes, often shooting a column of boiling water impressively high into the air, sometimes more than once in quick succession. The anticipation and the sudden burst make it a fun experience for both casual visitors and photographers. It’s an easy, flat walk from the main paths, and you can get fairly close as long as you respect the barriers. The ground around the geyser is extremely hot and fragile, so staying on marked trails is important for your safety and for preserving the area. Steam and sulfur smells are part of the experience, and depending on the wind, you might catch some spray, so keep your camera protected and maybe stand slightly off to the side if you want the best view without getting misted. Crowds gather quickly, especially right before an eruption, so arriving early in the morning or later in the evening makes it much more enjoyable. Once you’re there, give yourself time to watch several eruptions; each one is different and sometimes the second or third burst is the most dramatic. The combination of geothermal colors, the bubbling pool before eruption, and the wild Icelandic backdrop makes this one of the most memorable stops on the Golden Circle.
R — Google review
Strokkur is one of the geysers at Geyser on the main route of the golden circle. Parking here is at th visitors e center but it's such a hassle finding a spot with so many people always there. The walk to Strokkur is about 10 minutes total, and you pass by some other cool geothermal features. The geyser goes off every 3-5 minutes so you basically can't miss it. Really cool place to stop for a few to stretch and see something fun.

Geysir is a renowned hot spring located in the geothermal area of Haukadalur Valley, in southwest Iceland. This attraction is part of the Golden Circle and features hot springs, active geysers, and boiling mud pits. It's less than a two-hour drive from the capital city of Reykjavik. The area also offers dining options such as Geysir Bistro and opportunities to explore nearby attractions like the Icelandic Phallological Museum.
Good place to see geysers here. There is a big one 20m every 4-7 minutes and a small 1m almost continuous one. If you want to see many more and much bigger ones go to Yellowstone.
Cezar A — Google review
An amazing geothermal area that reminded me a lot of of the old faithful area of Yellowstone. While the original Geysir is no longer active, there is another one named Strokker that does erupt on a regular basis. We saw several eruptions while we were there, and it seems every other one is big and the in between ones are rather small. There is a nice walking trail that takes you through boiling pools and steam vents as well. Plenty of parking, and a large restaurant and gift shop here as well.

What a Fantastic and wonderous scene. My wife and I have seen simillar view in New Zealand a few years ago. It have to visit place in Iceland.
Ji H — Google review
One of the most beautiful places on the Golden Circle route is here. You can visit bubbling hot springs with temperatures between 80 and 100 degrees and eat the famous Icelandic soup at a nearby restaurant and enjoy your trip to Iceland.
Milad R — Google review
🌫️📸 Iconic spot but very touristy The geyser is impressive and definitely something to see at least once. The eruptions can reach a surprising height. But the area felt very crowded and touristy. I think geysers are more magical in quieter, less busy places. Still, it’s a famous site for a reason.
Kateryna M — Google review
Crowded. But still a lot of fun! Parking was easy. Great gift shop with options to eat. The paths were super well maintained and accessible. The walk up the hill was great with a beautiful view, surrounded with lupin.
Akiko U — Google review
I thought this was just going to be a geyser that a ton of people waited to see erupting, but it’s a fantastic beautiful area full of steam and springs and the star or the show the Strokkur geyser gifting us an eruption every 4-10 minutes. It was ADORABLE to see people clapping and cheering at the geyser, so happy and proud of her!!!! Adorable. And the walk is beautiful and it’s great to get thermal steam in your face and lungs. I loved this
Irene A — Google review
Remarkable, entertaining, well kept, and easy to navigate. There are geysers of all sizes and shapes, some barely bubbling while others are shooting tens of meters high. The olace is sufficiently compact than you can easily walk through the import parts. The visitor center is one of the most well equiped of all of Iceland touristic spots. Not to be missed

Nestled in the picturesque Icelandic countryside, the Secret Lagoon, or Gamla Laugin, is a geothermal gem that has been captivating visitors since its establishment in 1891. This enchanting hot spring offers a unique blend of relaxation and natural beauty, featuring soothing waters surrounded by stunning landscapes and steam rising from the warm springs. Located near an old fishing village in Fludhir, it provides not only a tranquil bathing experience but also insight into the area's rich geological history.
Hverahólmi – Geothermal Oasis in Iceland Hverahólmi is a truly unique spot in Iceland where nature’s raw power meets relaxation. The site features a geothermal system that powers Jarðhitakerti, a beautiful geothermal garden with hot springs and bubbling mud pools. The Sundlaug pool was absolutely amazing—bathing in naturally heated water right from the volcanic system while rolling in the snow was an unforgettable experience. The combination of warm water and icy surroundings creates an incredible sensation that you won’t find anywhere else.
Dorian N — Google review
It's the oldest thermal bath originally built in 1891 and one of the most affordable thermal bath in Iceland. It's located in the Golden Circle so it's convenient to get to. Note that it closes at 8 PM so don't arrive too late. The facility is really basic but you get to see a rustic view. The floors of the pools feel slippery and slimy, so if you're really picky about cleanliness, this may not be good for you.
J T — Google review
Polite and helpful staff. Not too crowded & perfect temperature. Some reviews mention the ground feeling weird, we did not experience this at all. You DO need to shower naked with 8 other people in a shared shower, keep that in mind.

After visiting the Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon, and Secret Lagoon, I left feeling that the Blue Lagoon simply didn’t justify its high price tag. While it’s the most famous of the three, it ended up being my least favorite—and not for lack of comparison. To start, both the Sky Lagoon and Secret Lagoon were significantly more affordable, yet offered nearly the same level of amenities. All three locations provided free showers, changing rooms, and lockers, and both the Blue Lagoon and Sky Lagoon included free towels, with the Secret Lagoon being the only one that didn’t. What surprised me most was that the water at the Blue Lagoon wasn’t as hot as at the other two sites, which made the experience feel less relaxing despite the higher cost. The iconic blue water is really the only unique feature of the Blue Lagoon, but even that came with a downside: the milky color made it hard to see underwater, so I kept bumping my legs against the seats because they were nearly invisible. In contrast, the Secret Lagoon’s natural hot spring setting, with its large black pebbles, felt soothing underfoot, and I actually preferred that to the smooth rock bottoms of both the Sky Lagoon and Blue Lagoon. As for amenities, the Sky Lagoon easily outshone the Blue Lagoon. Both offered saunas and steam rooms, but the Sky Lagoon’s infinity pool and the included seven-step ritual made the experience feel far more special and immersive. At the Blue Lagoon, all you get is a single silica mask included in the basic admission, which felt underwhelming given the price. The only feature that stood out at the Blue Lagoon was the bathing suit–drying machine—convenient, yes, but certainly not worth the extra cost on its own. Accessibility was another major drawback. The Blue Lagoon required a long walk to reach the actual pool area, which isn’t ideal for anyone with mobility issues. In comparison, both the Sky Lagoon and Secret Lagoon were located just a short, easy walk from their entrances—within about 20 feet. While all three lagoons had seating in the water and offered basic toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and soap, the overall value just wasn’t there for the Blue Lagoon. In the end, its fame and blue water felt like its only real distinguishing features, and for the price, I expected a lot more. If you’re choosing between the three, I’d highly recommend the Sky Lagoon for its experience and value, or the Secret Lagoon for its natural charm and affordability—both offered a better, more relaxing time than the Blue Lagoon ever did.

Oldest termal spa in Iceland. It is relaxing. Some hours are quite, some hours are crowded with people. The shower types fixed in the wall here are really inconvenient to shower properly. Booking the tickets online really recommended. Take flip-flops and towel with you.

Visited during a sunny day after we were dead tired from hiking the day before. It was a welcome break for us and we had a good time here soaking our tired legs. It was also fun to drift along the lagoon on the provided floats. The water here was on the warmer side though and it was difficult to soak for long periods without taking a break. We spent about an hour here.

This place is well worth a visit. There's a hot swimming pool. A hot seated pool and a cold plunge pool. The two hot pools are heated from the geothermal spring that is just above. You can walk along a board walk to see it. Get a beernor a glass of wine and cook yourself. Your skin will thank you.

Ideal place to stop off at and warm up after completing the golden circle classics. Entry fee was c. ISK 4000 but bring your own towel. They also had a facility to spin dry your swim costume and there is a cafe for refreshments.

This is such a wonderful experience of visiting and riding Icelandic horses. Beautiful friendly animals who are more gentle and curious than larger horses in Europe and North America. Our guide was an excellent host and we had an amazing afternoon playing in the snow in January with some truly extraordinary animals.

I’m a beginner and was given a great introduction to horseback riding. Beautiful Icelandic horses with a great instructor and a super clean organized and well run stable facility and school. We even got to do the Tölt gait. This is a smooth gate for Icelandic horses. The ranch was with beautiful scenery and we wrote along a pack of 25+ horses. Wow.

We did the one hour beginners tour on a beautiful sunny day! Lady who took us around was so friendly and knowledgeable, giving us information on Icelandic horses and the area. Would definitely recommend, one of my favorite Icelandic memories.
Olivia W — Google review
This was the highlight of our entire trip. We booked the 1 hour ride for our party of 5 (ages 10-76), but that day ended up being outrageously, frigidly windy. When we arrived, the staff talked with us about rearranging our booking (refunding us the difference) for an indoor experience, which we were grateful for. We ended up with an incredible experience! Our guide, Elsa, took us for a tour of the barn followed by a demonstration, then a lesson for us all, and we finished with hot chocolate in the cafe. Our guide, Elsa, was fantastic! She, Lisa, and the third colleague could not have been more informative, helpful, patient, and kind! They made sure everyone felt comfortable on their horses. They were so personable and welcoming — it felt like we were acquaintances who were invited into their barn. Our group was small, 8 people (the 5 of us and another party of 3), and with 3 instructors we had a lot of personal attention. And the horses are everything I heard them to be — social, agreeable, sweet, patient. The facilities were cleaner than any barn I have ever been to in the States. (I expected my clothes to have that “horsey” smell after our ride — which I kind of enjoy — but there was no odor at all!) Overall, I would recommend this hands down! It was an amazing experience all around, and, with these horses, one you can’t get anywhere else in the world.

We went on the 1 hour tour as a group of three beginners and the whole thing was amazing, from being introduced to the horses, instructions and the tour. The instructors were lovely and helpful. The offer of trying the tolt was available if we were confident enough as a group to try it. They have additional wet weather gear on hand if it’s needed.

Super cool experience riding icelandic horsies, they're so cute and lovable. Our guides were knowledgeable and patient. The tour for a novice was great, can absolutely recommend the experience!

Did a 2-hour ride with a combination of experience the novice riders. Everyone had a great time. The staff at the barn and on the tour were great.

If you are in Iceland, then this is a must! Something traditional, beautiful and worth the money. We got 1.5 hrs of riding and our guide took extra time to explain everything, got us geared up and in the end gave us some more time to try the special walk these icelandic horses do - beautiful animals and don't worry if you have no experience, because the horses are very calm and relaxed. You will love it!

We’re so lucky we found this place last minute and was able to book online the day before ! We did the 1 hr tour which was perfect for total beginners like ourselves. This wonderful place is about an hour's drive from Reykjavík. The owners and the staff are extremely nice and friendly. Everyone is welcome, regardless of riding ability. We had an amazingly good riding experience. The landscape was beautiful and it was fantastic to explore it on horseback. Of the more than 100 Icelandic horses, there are all colours, foals, small ones, big ones, but what they all have in common is that they are all very friendly without exception. We had an unforgettable experience, this was our favourite of our visit to Iceland. We hope to return again some day. Thank you again! We are very grateful for everything.

I went recently and it was a magical experience! The staff was lovely, and made us feel very safe and comfortable. I have no experience on horses, and am usually a bit afraid of them, but you get used to it quickly and you start trusting the horse. We rode on a beautiful path, which gave me enough time to enjoy the view and the horse. I am forever grateful for this experience, and I really appreciate the staff who made this all enjoyable and beautiful♥️

Urriðafoss

Waterfalls
Broad, powerful cascade & summer fishing spot in a serene locale.
Urriðafoss is a beautiful waterfall and a peaceful spot to visit. In the summer, it’s surrounded by colorful lupins, which adds a nice touch to the scenery. Getting there is easy, and there’s paid parking through the Parka app, so just keep that in mind. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re exploring the area.

Urriðafoss in South Iceland is a spectacular hidden gem! This powerful waterfall roars over wide, rugged rocks, creating a dramatic, misty scene. Less crowded than other falls, it offers a peaceful escape. The short drive from the main road and easy access to the viewing area make it perfect for all visitors. A raincoat is recommended due to the heavy spray. The surrounding volcanic landscape adds raw beauty, ideal for photos. Visit early for a serene experience. Urriðafoss is a must-see for anyone exploring Iceland’s untamed, breathtaking natural wonders!
Alameen K — Google review
It was not nearly as impressive as the Gullfoss falls but it was beautiful and serene. Definitely worth a stop if you're driving by. Zero crowd.
Joe E — Google review
Pretty impressive waterfall! It's huge and wide, and there's an info board about it. You need to pay for parking if you stay more than 10min, however, no restrooms as in many other tourist spots with paid parking
Agnė J — Google review
Urriðafoss may not be the tallest waterfall in Iceland, but it’s incredibly powerful and impressive in its own way. The sheer volume of water rushing through is breathtaking, and because it’s a bit off the typical tourist radar, you can enjoy the view without big crowds. There’s a small parking area and a short path leading to a great viewpoint. It’s a perfect quick stop if you’re driving along the south coast. Peaceful, raw nature—definitely worth it!
K. S — Google review
One of many stops less than 2 hours driving from Keflavik Airport. Parking is free if you quickly walkabout (10 mins) to snap pictures, but we paid to support all the natural sites that Iceland has to offer. Make sure to follow the path to the end to enjoy different angles of the falls. We spent about 30 mins enjoying the walk and sights as well as the fresh air 👍
Mike M — Google review
Urriðafoss might not be the tallest waterfall in Iceland, but she makes up for it with sheer power and beauty. The force of the water is incredible—and what really caught my eye was her stunning Tiffany blue water, swirling with such intensity that it felt almost unreal. It's like nature added a touch of elegance to raw strength. The area is peaceful and not crowded, which made the visit even more special. A quiet but powerful gem—definitely worth the stop.
Pohchin L — Google review
Urriðafoss is a beautiful waterfall that may not have the height of Iceland’s more famous ones, but its sheer power and strength are truly impressive. It’s a place where you can really appreciate the force of nature.

Nestled on the shores of Laugarvatn Lake, Laugarvatn Fontana is a serene spa offering an authentic Icelandic experience. Visitors can unwind in natural steam rooms and outdoor mineral pools, with the hot spring bubbling beneath them. The geothermal spa boasts stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Separate dressing rooms are available for men and women, along with various thermal pools offering different temperatures.
My girlfriend and I came here to enjoy the spa, since we found the Blue Lagoon way too expensive. It was a great place on its own, but given that it costs only a third of the Blue Lagoon, it felt like excellent value. Nice and clean facilities, with several pools at different temperatures. Loved that you could take a dip in the lake, and there were also multiple steam rooms using natural geothermal steam – very cool! There was also a minibar where you could order refreshments.

Would highly recommend the bread baking tour! It is interesting to learn about the hot springs in the area and how they harness them to cook bread. The tour is very thorough and then concludes with the ability to taste the bread alongside Icelandic butter and cured trout -- all of which were delicious!
Tom S — Google review
We just did the 4 pm bread making tour today and had a blast (despite it being rainy). The tour guide, Vlad, was informative and kind. I even got to help dig the bread out of the banks on the lake. The bread is sweet and delicious with Icelandic butter and smoked trout. A real treat!
Katheryn H — Google review
2 of the 3 steam rooms were outside temp (like a dank Pirttburgh cellar), these were "recommended today". The third was blazing hot but steamy. We did you see anyone last more than 90 seconds. The Finnish sauna wouldn't get over 60C and the window is boarded over with plywood. The hot tubs were fine and enjoyable.

We spent an afternoon at the Laugarvatn Fontana geothermal baths. There we booked a guided tour to bake bread in the ground using the natural geothermal heat. From the online description and what I had seen on the TV show "Down To Earth with Zac Efron", I was expecting more of a hands-on experience but it turned out to be just a demonstration. However, the bread and butter was delicious. The facility housed two steam rooms and multiple baths of various sizes and temperatures, all using water coming from the natural hot springs. The website information and gallery made it look like a tranquil spa-like oasis, but that’s not the experience we had there. I was surprised at how many small children were being loud and splashing around in the pools like it was a waterpark. Neither of us could find the towels either, so we were drip-drying until we asked someone. Turns out you have to pay to rent towels! That fact was also omitted from the booking website, which shows multiple photos of adult couples holding towels, wrapped in robes (which you could also rent) and enjoying the serene environment. The redeeming quality of Laugarvatn was the lunch. Their soup and bread bar was quite delicious. The raucous nature of the pools combined with the exorbitant $8 fee to rent a singular towel makes this a place I would not return or recommend.
Katrina M — Google review
The flavor of the bread after digging in out of the ground is unforgettable. Our tour was really kind and patient with our children and was a true credit to the bakery and Iceland in general. The spa itself was amazing and overlooks the water. Nothing could be more serene.
Mike F — Google review
We visited this place while passing by with a tour. It was very cool and the storytelling about the place was very interesting also. I would have enjoyed a freshly baked bread but I guess you would need to wait for quite some time before it would be done. But still the whole idea seemed very cool. Also be careful with the water it is boiling hot in some places so just look before touching the water if there are bubbles.

My friends and I did the bread experience where we tried rye bread fresh from underground geothermal ovens. The bread by itself… good! The bread with butter… amazing!! The bread with butter AND smoked trout… MIND BLOWING!!! Doing the bread tour is a must when visiting Iceland!! You will not regret it.
