Tachog Lhakhang Old Bridge

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
On way to Thimpu from Paro Airport, this was our first stopover to see a historic landmark. Made of iron chain link, the suspension bridge over Pa Chhu river is nothing less than an engineering marvel, keeping in view that it was originally constructed way back in the early 15th century,on a difficult terrain. Besides admiring this engineering marvel, we just soaked ourseves in the breathtaking scenic beauty all around. A very nice place to click pictures.
Arun G — Google review
This was the very first sight we stopped at after landing in Bhutan—just a short drive from the airport. The Iron Chain Bridge near Tamchog Lhakhang instantly made me feel like I’d arrived somewhere truly different. You can’t cross it anymore, but even from the side, it’s impressive. The old iron links, the prayer flags, and the sound of the river below all add to the atmosphere. With the mountains rising all around, it was a perfect first glimpse of Bhutan’s mix of raw nature and deep tradition. A peaceful and scenic start to the journey.
Tibor — Google review
The bridge looks amazing while crossing the heavy-flowing river. The old traditional iron chain bridge is closed and preserved, showcasing Bhutan’s historic engineering and cultural heritage. Surrounded by stunning nature, with mountains and a nearby temple adding to the peaceful vibe, it’s a place worth visiting. A newly built bridge allows visitors to walk across to the other side and explore the area safely. The iron bridge is an iconic landmark of Paro and a must-see for those who love history, architecture, and nature together.
Geo G — Google review
Tachog Lhakhang Old Bridge is a historic iron chain suspension bridge in Bhutan, known for its beauty and exciting crossing experience. It was originally built by the 15th-century Tibetan saint and engineer Thangtong Gyalpo. The bridge sways gently over the Pa Chhu River, offering visitors both thrill and stunning views of the valley below. Across the bridge lies the Tachog Lhakhang Temple, a private monastery run by the descendants of its original builder. The temple holds ancient relics, including statues, manuscripts, and Gyalpo’s walking stick. Nearby, two old watchtowers stand at each end of the bridge, giving visitors a great view of the river and hills. The area, decorated with colorful prayer flags, is also a favorite spot for photography. Located along the Paro–Thimphu highway near Chhukha, the bridge is open to visitors daily, usually from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There’s no entry fee to cross the bridge, but access to the temple requires permission from the monks. The original 15th-century bridge was swept away by a flood in 1969, but it was rebuilt in 2005 using the old iron chains. Travelers often describe crossing the bridge as a peaceful and thrilling experience, surrounded by natural beauty and centuries of history.
Weaning P — Google review
This is a 16th century iron bridge which can't be used now. This place for sure worth a visit and you can spend sometime in the river bank.
Salai C — Google review
The Iron Bridge in Bhutan is a fascinating piece of history. It was built centuries ago by a great Bhutanese saint, Thangtong Gyalpo, and it’s amazing to see how strong and well-preserved it still is.
Eddy T — Google review
GLIPMSE OF THE HISTORICAL CHAIN-LINK SUSPENSION BRIDGE  600 year old iron chain suspension bridge of remarkable beauty, design and strength  The iron used in constructing the hand-forged links was exceptionally durable, allowing the bridge to survive until 1969  At the base of mountain enroute Paro, on the river  Peaceful ambience with stunning views  Rafting possibility in the river  Treat to see the rushing waters, and the majestic mountains

It was a blessing for me and my wife to visit this beautiful and peaceful temple during our recent visit to Bhutan. It is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. The temple is amidst a beautiful garden /orchard. Do not miss to see two orange trees, which bear fruits throughout the year. There is no entry ticket. Photography is not permitted within the temple. However, one can take pictures all around the temple.

I fell in love with the entrance door and the yellow flowers blooming over it . Inside the courtyard to the temple is an orange tree which gives fruits 365 days a year, considered a miracle tree. the oldest temple and the most beautiful temples in Bhutan I have seen during my stay, the roses blooming bigger than my palm. I followed a locals as they prayered so that I don't do it the wrong way. Very peaceful as there weren't many tourist so the place was to us. Photography isn't allowed inside the temple but one can get good pics in the garden and around the prayer wheel.

Kyichu Lhakhang: A Sacred Jewel in Paro, Bhutan Kyichu Lhakhang, located in the Paro Valley of western Bhutan, is one of the oldest and most sacred temples in the Kingdom. It holds immense spiritual, historical, and cultural significance for the Bhutanese people and is revered as a site of great power and blessings. Historical Background Kyichu Lhakhang is believed to have been built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. According to legend, the king constructed 108 temples across the Himalayan region to subdue a demoness whose body covered the land. Kyichu Lhakhang was one of these temples and was said to be built on the demoness’s left foot to immobilize her and facilitate the spread of Buddhism. Religious Significance The temple enshrines a revered statue of Jowo Sakyamuni, the Buddha as a young prince, which is believed to have been personally blessed by the Buddha himself. It is considered a wish-fulfilling statue, and thousands of devotees come to pay homage and offer prayers for health, happiness, and spiritual merit. Over the centuries, the temple has been maintained and expanded by various Bhutanese kings and religious leaders. It remains an active place of worship and an important pilgrimage site, particularly for followers of Vajrayana Buddhism. Architecture and Atmosphere Kyichu Lhakhang consists of two main temples: the original 7th-century structure and a second temple built in 1968 by Her Majesty Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck, the Queen Mother of Bhutan. The complex is surrounded by beautiful prayer wheels, chortens, and ancient orange trees that are said to bear fruit throughout the year—a sign of the temple’s sanctity. The architecture is a fine example of traditional Bhutanese craftsmanship, featuring ornate carvings, vivid murals, and intricate woodwork. The peaceful and spiritual atmosphere of the temple grounds invites quiet contemplation and reverence. Cultural Importance Kyichu Lhakhang is not only a symbol of Bhutan’s deep Buddhist heritage but also a link between the country’s past and present. It plays a central role in many religious festivals and ceremonies in Paro and continues to inspire devotion among Bhutanese and visitors alike. ⸻ Kyichu Lhakhang stands as a testament to Bhutan’s enduring spiritual traditions and its commitment to preserving its sacred legacy. A visit to this revered temple is considered a blessing and a deeply moving experience. Enjoy💥
Tshering D — Google review
This is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Bhutan, and yes it’s spread over a beautiful scenic area. The stupa, the prayer wheels, the main temple complex everything is set in such a beautiful landscape, right in the lap of the green mountains. I hiked about 4km from the Paro town, along the Paro Chu River, and hiked my way to back entry into the temple complex. There’s a 300₹ fee to enter the main temple, also the main temple closes 1-2pm. One can also visit this while coming back from the Tigers Nest, it’s just 10 mins drive back towards the town. Nature at its best, and the Buddhist traditions in the complex offering a peaceful experience. It was awesome reading a book on Bhutan culture, sitting near the 5 prayer wheel structure and mesmerised in the rhythm of the bells clunking.

Mountain pass

Scenic Drives
The Chele La Pass is a stunning mountain pass that offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas and Mount Jumolhari. This picturesque route showcases lush forests, cascading waterfalls, grazing yaks, and sweeping vistas. For those who seek romance in nature's embrace, the pass provides an ideal setting for a picnic against an incredible backdrop of the majestic mountains.
The highest motorable road in Bhutan at an altitude of almost 4,000mt/13,000ft gives you a wonderful drive to remember with its narrow roads and traffic on these narrow roads leading up to this point. The view from here is nothing great just the normal beautiful mountains which can be anyways be seen from most of Bhutan, it's just the thrill of diving up/down here.
Shaik M — Google review
This is the highest mountain pass accessible by road in Bhutan. It also has some of the best views for sure. If you're heading to Haa Valley from Paro, I'd definitely suggest getting out of the car and walking around a little bit to admire the views
Gunnar C — Google review
My visit to Chele Pass, Bhutan's highest motorable pass, was an unforgettable experience, even with the characteristic July weather. Situated at a breathtaking altitude of approximately 3,988 meters (13,083 feet) between the Paro and Haa valleys, the journey itself is a significant part of the adventure. The drive up to Chele Pass winds through dense forests, and even in July, the air becomes noticeably cooler and crisper as you ascend. While July is known for its monsoon season in Bhutan, bringing with it a higher chance of clouds and occasional rain, this lent a mystical and dramatic atmosphere to the pass. The majestic Himalayan peaks, including the sacred Mount Jomolhari, were often shrouded in mist, offering tantalizing glimpses when the clouds parted. This added an element of anticipation and wonder, making each clear view even more special.
Sachin B — Google review
This place is the highest motorable road of Bhutan about 13000 ft an altitude. Very scenic beauty with huge mountain range, clear blue sky with chilled cool winds , amazing views of Kanchan Junga . Worth visiting place.
Jasmine S — Google review
Chele La Pass is a must-visit in Bhutan! At 3,988m, it offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas and lush valleys. The drive up is scenic, and the prayer flags add a mystical touch. We visited on March 26, 2025, and were mesmerized by the crisp mountain air and breathtaking landscapes. Highly recommended for nature lovers!
Shashank A — Google review
This is 4250 mtrs. Height from sea level, fantastic view point ont only this point when you go there that way is also full of views, if you go there you can get too much enjoy
Rampada G — Google review
It is highest memorable road in Bhutan 3988 metres connecting Haa Valley and Paro. The pass is surrounded by mountain ranges from all the sides. We got to see the snow capped mountains and suddenly experiennced the snow fall also. Different coloured flags add beauty to the place. Winds are very speedy. We enjoyed coffee and Maggie also. A lady was selling some handicrafts at reasonable price than elsewhere. One must carry sweaters, hand gloves and caps in winter.
Kaushik M — Google review

Buxa Tiger Reserve

National park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Spacious jungle park featuring a range of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, bison & civets.
Buxa Tiger Reserve is a rich and vibrant sanctuary that offers a true taste of the wild. Like every tiger reserve, it’s divided into three zones—core, buffer, and transition. While visitors are allowed access mainly to the transition zone and parts of the buffer zone, the experience is still incredibly rewarding. The area is known for frequent sightings of majestic elephants, graceful deer, and the powerful Indian Gaur (Bison). For birders, Buxa is a dream destination—if you’re lucky enough to find a fruiting tree, it transforms into a paradise of chirps and colors. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or a casual nature lover, Buxa offers moments that stay with you. Just remember: nature is to be admired, not disturbed. Respect the rules, respect the wildlife, and let the forest thrive.

A good place to explore by nature lovers. One can visit core area by safari, can explore mahakal temple by trekking through Jayanti river. Can trek to lepchakha and also can visit Buxa fort, a historical place. The behaviour and ambience of prajapati home stay is very pleasant and welcoming. Must recomend this place.

one of best place for those who are nature lover and interested in wild animals especially birds and butterflies. A very healthy elephant population as well. but if you are looking out for tigers this place is not for you

Had a good experience at Buxa tiger reserve.Managed to capture elephants, deers, leopard and some beautiful birds, though the timeline is very less for the safari but the overall experience was good.
Anindita M — Google review
Buxa Tiger Reserve, located in the Dooars region of North Bengal, is a hidden gem for nature lovers, trekkers, and wildlife enthusiasts. The dense forests, hilly terrain, and serene rivers create a magical atmosphere that feels far from the busy world. The reserve is home to elephants, leopards, bison, deer, and many species of birds and butterflies. While tiger sightings are rare, the untouched natural beauty and peaceful surroundings make it a memorable experience. Buxa Fort is one of the main attractions — a historical site nestled deep in the forest that can be reached through a scenic trek from Santalabari. The trail offers breathtaking views, fresh air, and a close connection with nature. Villages like Jayanti, Raimatang, and Lepchakha are also worth visiting for their quiet charm and eco-tourism homestays. The forest department and local guides are friendly and helpful, and safaris are well-organized. It’s best to visit between November and April when the weather is pleasant and the forest is most vibrant. Buxa offers a perfect blend of history, adventure, and tranquility — ideal for those seeking a peaceful yet thrilling escape in the lap of nature.

Zangtopelri temple is located in Phuentsholing town which is the India and Bhutan border and the gateway to Bhutan. The temple is small but very photogenic with lovely Bhutanese architecture. On the ground level, there are statues of Guru and his eight manifestations. On the second floor, there are eight Bodhisattvas and statues of Avalokiteshwara and Zhubdrung Ngawang Namgyal while on the top floor, the main statue is of Buddha Amitabha. The temple is surrounded by a small ground which makes it even more beautiful.

🌸 Zangtopelri Temple, Phuentsholing, Bhutan I had the opportunity to visit this peaceful temple twice — once in December 2022 and again in May 2023. Each visit offered a different flavor of calm and beauty. In winter, the crisp air and prayer chants added to the spiritual aura, while in May, the lush greenery around the courtyard felt vibrant and alive. After a gentle rain during my first visit, I stumbled upon a quaint coffee shop "Kizom Cafe" just beside the temple courtyard — its Western classic ambience was a surprising delight. The warm cup of coffee, paired with the tranquil views of the temple, made for a perfect moment of stillness and reflection. A must-visit place for those seeking inner peace, cultural depth, and an unexpectedly good coffee stop.

Zangdokpalri Temple is a peaceful and alluring location that draws tourists from all walks of life to Phuentsholing, Bhutan. This lovely monastery, which is close to the India-Bhutan gate and across from Kizom Café, provides a tranquil haven from the busy city life. The temple is a significant religious and spiritual landmark because it is a replica of the mythical Copper Mountain Heaven, a sacred symbol in Bhutanese culture. The serene ambiance of Zangdokpalri Temple is among its most remarkable features. A feeling of peace descends upon you as soon as you walk in, creating the ideal setting for introspection and tranquility. Since there is no ticketing system in place, anyone who wants to visit can do so. In order to gain spiritual merits, devout people frequently come here to recite mantras while walking around the temple. Older devotees frequently make prostrations, which attests to the temple's profound religious significance. Not only is Zangdokpalri Temple a place of worship for devotees. Both locals and tourists use the nearby park as a recreational area. Young people are frequently observed creating TikTok videos or just taking in the serene surroundings while seated on the benches. Additionally, friends and couples are increasingly using the temple grounds as a meeting place. The lively ambiance is enhanced by the numerous stores that throng the area surrounding the temple. Convenient refreshments are available for visitors at a small shop on the right side of the monastery, complete with a vending machine. The Cooch Behar Palace, also known as the Cooch Behar Rajbari, is a magnificent architectural landmark located in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. Built in 1887 during the reign of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan of the Koch dynasty, the palace showcases the grandeur of the era and reflects the royal family's affinity for European architectural styles. 🏛️ Architectural Marvel Design & Structure: The palace was designed by architect F. Barckley in the Italian Renaissance style, inspired by Buckingham Palace in London. It is a double-story brick structure covering an area of approximately 51,309 square feet, with dimensions of 395 feet in length and 296 feet in width. The building stands 4 feet above the ground and features arcaded verandahs on both floors, with piers arranged alternately in single and double rows. Durbar Hall: At the center of the palace is the Durbar Hall, accessible through a projected porch. The hall boasts a beautifully shaped metal dome, 124 feet high from the ground, topped by a cylindrical louver-type ventilator. The dome's interior is adorned with stepped patterns and supported by Corinthians columns, adding to the hall's elegance. Interior Rooms: The palace comprises over 50 rooms, including the Drawing Room, Dining Hall, Billiard Room, Library, Bedrooms, Dressing Rooms, Toshakhana (treasure house), Ladies' Gallery, and Vestibules. These rooms once housed various artifacts and precious objects, many of which have been lost over time. 🕰️ Historical Significance Originally, the palace had three stories, but the top floor was destroyed during the 1897 Assam earthquake. The structure we see today is a restoration of what remained after the disaster. The palace reflects the Koch kings' acceptance of European idealism without abandoning their Indian heritage. 🖼️ Museum and Tourist Attraction Today, the Cooch Behar Palace functions as a museum, offering visitors insights into the region's royal history and culture. The museum houses various exhibits related to the Koch dynasty and the palace's history. Surrounded by lush gardens, the palace provides a serene ambiance, making it a popular spot for tourists and history enthusiasts. 📍 Location and Accessibility The palace is situated in the heart of Cooch Behar town, making it easily accessible by road and rail. The nearest operational airport is Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, approximately 151 km away. Cooch Behar railway station serves as the primary rail link to the town. Timing - 10 am to 5 pm Ticket price - 20 / head NEED MAINTENANCE OF THE GARDEN

A Royal Family Day at Cooch Behar Palace Today, my family and I had the absolute pleasure of spending a full day at the magnificent Cooch Behar Palace, and it was an experience we thoroughly enjoyed. From the moment we laid eyes on its impressive exterior to exploring every intricate detail inside, the palace captivated us completely. This vast palace, a stunning example of European architecture from the Italian Renaissance, was built by Koch Nripendranarayan in 1887. Its sheer scale is impressive, with the two-story brick building (originally three, damaged in the 1897 earthquake and then renovated) covering an area of 4768.5 square meters. We particularly admired its facade, adorned with elegant Corinthian columns, both single and paired. The central long portico, serving as the main entrance, leads into the grand courtroom. The enormous Corinthian columns here, inspired by St. Peter's Church in Rome, with their four arched arches above, are truly breathtaking. The twelve-cornered dome, featuring a beautiful light window and intricately crafted small chambers, is a marvel of design. Below, the circular hanging balcony and twelve windows offer unique perspectives. We were fascinated by the royal emblem of bravery and glory carved in Bengali marble at the courtroom's center. Every artifact and architectural detail spoke volumes of its rich history. The spires on either side of the main dome further enhance the palace's majestic beauty. It was a truly immersive and educational visit for all of us!

Cooch Behar Royal Palace is truly magnificent! Visiting this place fills you with pride and admiration for our ancestors who built such grandeur through their hard work and struggle. The architecture, history, and peaceful surroundings make it a must-visit heritage site. You can truly feel the royal legacy here

It's a fairly maintained, little crowded palace and its grounds, worth a visit. Some of the museum's artifacts are really impressive, like the 10th century statues or the rather large gun collection. Note: no photography allowed inside the buildings.
Andrzej N — Google review
A huge palace made available by the government for us yet we get to see merely ten percent of the site overall. Three to four rooms are open to view the antiques and royal arsenal. The garden is not well maintained. Despite the shortcomings, it's commendable that we get to see the great architecture and well planned road system, Transcending back to the previous century.

Jaldapara National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
National park comprised of savannah & forests that are home to rhinos, elephants, leopards & more.
went for the 8:30 am jeep safari in November, when we were advised that early morning and late evening safaris are better for animal sighting. Since my main motive was to see the forest, was saddened to see how much pressure both the driver and guide were under to find larger animals. The amount of information the guide had was a pleasant surprise, as was the patient attitude - a vast contrast to the Corbett bullies. Although the park is less well known, it has managed to integrate well with the local villages and kept the forest relatively untouched. was a delight to experience as a less commercialized gem in conservation efforts

Peacocks are very common. But if you are lucky you may witness Elephants, Bisons, deer & One horned Rhino. The safari ride and its guide will ensure that you get the best possible experience of the safari. The guide will just go with you, they don't share much about the jungle and the animals. The tour also includes the folk dance of the Boro tribe in the end, which would give a musical ending to the safari. The Safari route is not in the dense forest so you may miss the jungle vive. Safari starts at 6 am in the morning. 3 slots are there in the morning and also 3 slots for afternoon from 2 pm to 4 pm. Elephant safari booking done the day before safari at 6 pm at the ticket counter. No online Booking available for any safari. For afternoon safari you need to reach the ticket counter at least before 2-3 hours. ticket booking time is like - for 2 pm safari counter issues ticket at 1 pm, and so for 3 pm & 4 pm safari counter opens at 2 pm and 3 pm respectively. A photocopy of any Id prove required for all the persons for safari ticket. One person for one car needs to be in the line for booking, ( in one car 6 people can go. Children above 4 years need a ticket). total cost 1750 including guide for one jipsy car. For tribal dance they charge 50/ person that you can opt out.

One of the attractions of Dooars. There are several gates where you can book jungle safari, both online and offline. The elephant safari is done from Holong gate, if you book it online. The safari takes place in a breathtaking forest area, offering a chance to spot an array of wildlife, including bison, rhinos, deer, peacock and more. For a responsible and enjoyable safari experience, please maintain silence to avoid disturbing the wildlife and keep the forest area clean by refraining from littering.

Baba Harbhajan Singh Shrine

Mentioned on
4 lists
Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, also known as Baba Mandir, is a memorial and temple dedicated to the Indian army soldier Baba Harbhajan Singh. Situated at an impressive altitude of 13,123 ft between the Nathula Pass and Jelep La Pass, this temple is a posthumous tribute to the brave soldier.
Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple in Sikkim is easily one of the most unique and memorable places I have visited, blending history, faith, and breathtaking Himalayan scenery in a deeply moving way. Located on the road between Gangtok and Nathula at an altitude of over 13,000 feet, the temple is not a typical shrine. It was built to honor Baba Harbhajan Singh, a soldier of the Indian Army who died in 1968 under unusual circumstances, yet is still revered as a protector of the nation. The story goes that Harbhajan Singh was serving with the Army when he tragically lost his life while escorting a mule column. Soon after his passing, fellow soldiers began experiencing visions of him warning them about threats and guiding patrols. These accounts became so widespread that the Army built a shrine in his memory. Over the decades, his presence has been so strongly felt that many soldiers believe his spirit still guards the mountain passes and even alerts the Army about potential dangers along the Indo-China border. His belongings, including his uniform and boots, are kept here with reverence, and the temple is treated like a living memorial. The atmosphere of the temple is serene, with fluttering prayer flags and the cold mountain air adding to its mystique. Visitors can see his bed and personal items maintained as if he were still present. For soldiers, it is a place of pride and respect, while for civilians, it is a deeply humbling experience that shows how one man’s memory can transcend even death. The drive up is as memorable as the destination, with winding mountain roads, snow-draped peaks, and clouds brushing the valleys below. Given the high altitude, it is important to carry warm clothes and be prepared for thinner oxygen levels, which some may find challenging. Despite these conditions, the experience is worth every effort. A small tea stall nearby offering hot tea and snacks adds warmth to the otherwise harsh landscape. Overall, Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple is much more than a tourist stop. It is a place where history, patriotism, and spirituality meet on sacred ground. Standing here, one not only feels the weight of legend but also the unbreakable spirit of devotion that continues to protect this beautiful region of Sikkim.

◻️ Located high up in the mountains at around 13,000 ft, the surroundings are absolutely stunning and peaceful. ◻️ The temple is maintained by the Indian Army, and everything is kept clean and well-organised. ◻️ You’ll need a permit to visit since it’s a protected area, but the process is simple if arranged beforehand. ◻️ The whole place has a very calm and spiritual vibe — prayer flags fluttering in the cold wind make it even more beautiful. ◻️ The soldiers posted there were extremely polite and helpful, guiding visitors with genuine warmth. ◻️ Honestly, my perspective of the army changed after meeting them — they were respectful, kind, and very down to earth. ◻️ The temple preserves Baba Harbhajan Singh’s belongings, like his uniform and boots, and the soldiers shared his story with a lot of respect. ◻️ I also want to mention the Sikh community — their devotion and the way everything is managed really touched me. ◻️ Overall, this place isn’t just a tourist spot; it’s a place of peace, faith, and respect. A must-visit when you’re in Sikkim.

The Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, also known as Baba Mandir, is a revered shrine located near the Nathula Pass in East Sikkim. It honors Captain Harbhajan Singh, a soldier of the Indian Army who is believed to have died in 1968 but whose spirit is said to continue guarding the border. 🛕 Key Highlights Location: Situated at an altitude of over 13,000 feet between Nathula and Jelepla passes, near Kupup and Gnathang Valley. Legend: After his death, fellow soldiers claimed he appeared in dreams, guiding them to his body and requesting a memorial be built. This legend has turned the site into a pilgrimage destination. Old vs New Mandir: Old Baba Mandir: Built near Chhokya Chho, where his bunker and belongings are preserved. Less visited but deeply spiritual. New Baba Mandir: More accessible and frequented by tourists, located en route to Nathula Pass. Rituals: Devotees leave bottles of water at the temple and collect them later, believing they are blessed by Baba’s spirit. Atmosphere: The temple is maintained by the Indian Army and features a photo of Baba Harbhajan Singh in uniform, his bed, and personal items. 📍 Visitor Info Detail Information 📌 Address 9R8Q+85V, Phadamchen, Sikkim 737102, India ⏰ Hours Opens daily at 9 AM (currently closed) ⭐ Rating 4.7 stars from over 7,700 reviews

A small yet good stop to visit when going to or coming back from Nathula pass. This place is an inspiration to our soldiers ! You can get eating options here and can add this as a stop on your trip. There is an issue with parking here. You would need to coordinate with your driver to meet at a certain point. The police patrolling ensures the cars keep moving, so we had to be quick in getting into the car. This place is also a no drone zone. So it’s better to be informed and not carry or fly any drones in this area.

Nathula Pass is a stunning mountain pass nestled in the Himalayas, connecting India with China's Tibet Autonomous Region. This historic pass was once traversed by mules carrying valuable goods along the ancient Silk Road. At an elevation of 14,450 feet, it stands as one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Visitors can partake in Yak safaris and witness the border gates between India and China.
A beautiful place situated in Indo-China border. You can see the chinese post from this place. Nathula Pass is one of three open border posts for trade between India and China. Indian citizen need a permit to visit this place. The permit can be obtained by submitting Voter card/Passport, PAN through a registered travel agency. As per the information Nathula pass remains close for visitors on Monday. This place is situated at an altitude around 14200 feet above sea level. We visited mid Oct therefore haven't seen any snow fall or not even get any road closure. The day was shiny and sky was total clear. From last 3 kms people are only allowed to go with big vehicles and one can hire a shared vehicle from Tsomgo lake. It was a worth visiting Nathula.

Scenic roads leading right up to the border from Gangtok, Sikkim. The roads here are constructed and managed by BRO who do an amazing job of ensuring the road is in top condition. Army personnel manning the roads and check points are extremely helpful and polite. Good food joints dot the entire stretch.

Nathula Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass in Sikkim, India, which connects the state to China's Tibet Autonomous Region, serving as one of the three open trading border posts. Historically, it was a major part of the ancient Silk Route and is now a popular tourist destination known for its breathtaking Himalayan views, its strategic Indo-China border location, and proximity to sights like Tsomgo Lake and Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple. Visiting requires a special permit for Indian citizens.

Visiting Nathula Pass was truly one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I went there with my friends during our trip to Sikkim, and we started from Gangtok early in the morning. The drive itself was scenic, with winding roads and breathtaking mountain views. As we climbed higher, the temperature dropped drastically, and soon we were surrounded by thick snow. When we reached Nathula, the entire area was covered in a beautiful white blanket of snow. It was freezing cold, but the excitement kept us warm. We had a great time playing in the snow, clicking pictures, and just soaking in the surreal atmosphere. It felt like we were on top of the world! Nathula Pass is located at an altitude of 14,140 feet (4,310 meters) above sea level, making it one of the highest motorable roads in the world. One of the main highlights was visiting the Indo-China border. We could actually see the Chinese side guarded by their army, and it was both thrilling and a bit emotional to stand so close to an international boundary. Of course, you are not allowed to cross it, and the army presence is very strict, but it was fascinating to see. The place was quite crowded, with many tourists braving the cold to witness this high-altitude wonder. Overall, Nathula Pass was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll always cherish. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sikkim!

Unforgettable climb to the Indo-China border. Though it was not there in our original itinerary, our car driver helped us visit Nathula Pass. It was a great decision as we got the opportunity to see a marvellous hill station. We had enough warm clothes but we were not really prepared for the thin air at a height of 4300 meters. It was a novel experience. And the slippery ice. And the presence of Indian military personnel everywhere. And the large crowd assembled there to visit the Pass. Though photography was not permitted at the top, we could stay there sufficiently long to get a clear view of the border and could see a few Chinese soldiers as well as a couple of mechanics kin the Chinese territory.

It is important to know the historical Nathula Pass between India and China that was used for trade. On 8 November, 2025, I visited Nathula Pass, there was no snow fall, temperature quit low, that is in between 5 to 9 degrees centigrade.

We started our journey from Madarihat which is around 100 km away from Samsing/Suntalikhola. We were five persons in the group. One of the main attractions was beautiful tea gardens both the sides in our way to. Samsing. At Suntalikhola you have to take the local car from the spot for the sightscene. They charge you Rs 400 for almost nothing. So we dropped the plan and decided to travel by walk. First we went to hanging bridge. Then started to trek few km up towards muchaki army camp. There is a nice spot to take a look to the beautiful villages in this route. Foods are overpriced, you will find few local restaurants at Suntalikhola stand.

Gorumara National Park

Nature & Parks
Gorumara National Park is a vast floodplain and forest national park that covers an expansive area of almost 50 square miles. The park houses diverse wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, and leopards. For visitors looking to explore the park, it's recommended to opt for a jungle safari rather than a watch tower Safari. The best time for a jungle safari is during morning slots when chances of spotting an elephant are particularly high.
Review of Garumara Jungle Safari – 20th April Our experience at the Garumara Jungle Safari on the 20th of April was nothing short of incredible. I had the pleasure of going with my team, and it was a day filled with adventure, bonding, and nature at its finest. From the very beginning, everything was well-organized. The forest guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about wildlife. The thrill of venturing into the dense forest, with every turn holding the possibility of spotting something wild, kept us all excited throughout. We were lucky to witness a variety of animals, including deer, peacocks, and even a few elephants in the distance. The sounds of the jungle, the fresh air, and the serenity of nature offered the perfect escape from our usual routines. My team truly enjoyed the experience — from the bumpy jeep ride to the scenic watchtowers, every moment felt special. It was also a great opportunity for us to unwind, connect, and share some laughs in the heart of nature. A big thanks to the team managing the safari — your efforts made this adventure safe, informative, and memorable. Highly recommended for nature lovers and teams looking for a refreshing break together!

This forest is like a rainforest!! As it’s completely different from jaldapara national park! Gorumara forest is a dense forest and completely green!! The scenery really really soothes the soul! In my opinion Must visit this place! And lose yourself in the lap of nature!!
Krittita P — Google review
Tourist trap. Through and through. For the Matla Tower: You must pay for a guide who only talks when you ask questions. You pay for the jeep driver to drive and talk to the guide. You’re obligated to pay for a bullock cart ride, who takes you the remaining distance to the tower, even though the jeep could’ve done that. You see some bison licking a salt lick that the locals placed. You see some captive elephants. Maybe you see a peacock and some deer… Seems very uncommon that people see rhinos. The price is still low, but visiting a zoo would be a better use of time. I should add, we planned to do a safari, but staff at the ticket counter convinced us we’d see more wildlife with the tower because it goes into the park whereas the safari apparently skirts the outside of the park? Who knows- a group at our hotel went on the 6am safari and said they only saw a baby peacock. 🤷‍♂️

Gorumara National Park is a true gem in the Dooars region of West Bengal. It offers an amazing opportunity to experience the rich biodiversity of North Bengal up close. The park is famous for its population of Indian one-horned rhinoceros, but you can also spot elephants, bison (Indian Gaur), deer, wild boars, and a variety of birds including peacocks and hornbills. I had the chance to go on a jeep safari, and it was a memorable experience. The forest is dense and green, with the sounds of birds and the wind through the trees making it feel magical. Our guide was knowledgeable and respectful towards the wildlife, which made the journey even more meaningful. The watchtowers inside the park, like Jatraprasad and Medla, offer stunning views of the forest and the animals in their natural environment. The park is clean and well-managed, and the local people are friendly and welcoming. Gorumara is a perfect getaway for anyone who loves nature, photography, and wildlife. I highly recommend visiting this place to feel the beauty and tranquility of the forest. It’s an experience you won’t forget.

The famous places for the jungle safari atJatraprasad and maidla watch tower we had done the jatra Prasad booking for our jungle safari and the Jeep cost was 1700 including guides fees.

Great experience on a safari . Did the 3:30 pm jeep safari followed by the cultural show where members of the Tribal groups perform their dances. For the cost, I would have liked the jeep safari to be longer and waits at the lookout points to be longer. Just paused for 10 mins and since there were no animals , we moved on. Safaris involve waiting and watch in and I felt hurried.

Gorumara National Park is one of the most beautiful wildlife destinations in North Bengal, located in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The park is famous for its rich biodiversity and scenic beauty, especially its population of the one-horned rhinoceros. The lush green forests, grasslands, and rivers create a perfect habitat for elephants, bison, deer, leopards, and many species of birds. The early morning and evening jungle safaris are the main attractions, offering a thrilling experience of spotting wild animals in their natural surroundings. The watchtowers like Jatraprasad, Rhino Point, and Chapramari provide a stunning panoramic view of the forest and wildlife. The park is well-maintained, and local guides are knowledgeable and friendly, making the visit both enjoyable and educational. Overall, Gorumara National Park is a must-visit for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Its peaceful environment, natural charm, and thrilling safaris make it one of the best eco-tourism spots in West Bengal. Best time to visit: November to March
Abhijit M — Google review
Okay, Gorumara is straight-up old-school jungle safari in West Bengal. The main flex here is spotting the Indian one-horned rhino, which is a rare vibe check. You definitely gotta book an elephant or jeep safari if you wanna see the real action, like bison and deer. Solo traveler-wise, it's super structured—you gotta have a guide and follow the park timings, which is actually safer when you're out alone. The lookouts, espcly the one near the Murti River, are fire for watching the rhinos hang out. It's not a place for aimless wandering, but for intentional wildlife sightings. The accommodation options outside the park gate are chill. Pro-tip: Go in the dry season for the clearest sightings. Vibe: Structured jungle immersion, rhino hunting with a camera.

Our recent stay at Mayfair Gangtok was truly exceptional — an experience that beautifully combines comfort, warmth, and top-notch hospitality. We stayed in Room 325, which offered a stunning view and was impeccably maintained — clean, cozy, and filled with that signature Mayfair charm. A special mention to Mr. Pranab and Mr. Arup (dinner time) and Mr Vivek & Ms Rajashree (breakfast time) from the Orchid Restaurant, whose attentive service and gracious hospitality made every meal memorable. The entire Orchid team deserves appreciation — from the warm greetings to the prompt service and the perfectly curated buffet spreads, everything was beyond expectation. Breakfasts were a delight, and dinner felt like an experience in itself, thanks to the team’s attention to detail and personal touch. What makes Mayfair Gangtok stand apart is not just its grandeur or scenic setting, but the heartfelt hospitality — the staff truly make you feel like a valued guest, not just a visitor. Great Hospitality, Even at 11 PM We reached Mayfair Gangtok around 11 PM with friends. Didn't know that the whole city goes to sleep by 8 PM here! But the hotel staff was kind enough to feed us even though they weren't required to. That really shows how much they care about guests. The hotel is really big and looks beautiful. It's been around for about 19 years now. They also have a casino inside, which I plan to check out next time I visit. Manager Udit from Odisha was super helpful and friendly. He made sure we were comfortable and took good care of us. We tried some stuff from their bakery. The brownie was really good. The cheesecake wasn't up to the mark—expected better. But the caramel dessert was honestly the star of the show, really tasty and worth trying. Overall, Mayfair Gangtok impressed us with genuine hospitality and good service. The staff goes out of their way to help, which is rare these days. Definitely recommend this place if you're visiting Gangtok.

Delo Park is a lovely spot to spend some peaceful time amidst nature. The park offers several scenic viewpoints that provide breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and landscapes. A small entry fee is required, which is quite reasonable for the experience it offers. Horse rides are available inside the park, which is a fun activity, especially for kids. It's also great to see that the park maintains an eco-friendly approach by not allowing plastic inside. However, the park could benefit from better maintenance in certain areas to enhance the overall visitor experience. With a little more care, it has the potential to be an even more beautiful and well-kept destination.

Pine View Nursery

Pine View Nursery, also known as the Kalimpong Cactus Nursery or Mohanji nursery, is a must-visit attraction in Kalimpong. Founded by Mr. Mohan S Pradhan, this unique nursery boasts an extensive collection of over 1500 species of cacti and succulents from around the world, making it the largest cacti collection in Asia.
Visited July 31, 2025 – Day 28 in India After saying goodbye to my dear friend and her son, the mood in the car was very heavy. My girls, aged five and seven, were quietly crying and missing them already. It was one of those moments when parting feels so hard, especially after such a warm reunion. Our driver suggested stopping by Pine View Nursery for some sightseeing, and I’m really glad he did. Since it was early in the morning, we were the only visitors there, which made the whole experience even more special. The place was wonderfully peaceful, surrounded by calm and quiet that felt like a gentle balm to our hearts. Walking through the nursery, we were completely fascinated by the incredible variety of cacti around us. There were so many different shapes and sizes, some small and round like little green balls covered in fine spines, others tall and columnar stretching upwards like natural sculptures. Some had delicate patterns on their surfaces, almost like nature’s own artwork, while others sported colorful blooms that popped brightly against the desert-green hues. It was amazing to see species from all over the world, each adapted in its own unique way to survive in harsh environments. The textures varied from soft and fuzzy to sharp and prickly, and the colors ranged from deep forest green to almost silvery shades. Some cacti even had tiny flowers blossoming, which added a surprising touch of beauty and delicacy to what you might otherwise think of as tough and rugged plants. My girls were completely absorbed, marveling at the strange and wonderful shapes. They asked so many questions, and it felt like a small adventure for them to learn about these unusual plants. I loved watching their curiosity grow with every step we took. The nursery was carefully organized so that we could take our time and appreciate each section. There was a calming rhythm to the visit, allowing us to forget the sadness we had felt earlier and instead focus on this quiet celebration of life and resilience. Leaving Pine View Nursery, I felt a little lighter. It was exactly the kind of peaceful interlude we needed to balance the emotions of the day. For anyone visiting Kalimpong, this is a serene spot that offers more than just plants, it offers a moment of calm, wonder, and a reminder of how diverse and beautiful nature can be.

Pineview Nursery in Darjeeling is a very beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It is not a big tourist attraction, but it feels special the moment you walk in. The nursery is full of different kinds of plants, especially cacti and succulents that you don’t usually see in this region. Some are tiny and cute, while others are tall and strangely shaped—it feels like walking through a little desert garden on a hill. The paths are clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. I was surprised to learn how many varieties of cactus they grow here. The display is arranged neatly, with colorful pots and name tags for most plants, which makes it easy to look around and learn. From the nursery, you can also enjoy a nice view of the surrounding hills, which adds to the charm. It’s a quiet place, away from the crowd, and perfect for people who love nature and gardening. Visiting Pineview Nursery was a refreshing experience. It showed me how beautiful and unique plants can be, even in a small corner of Darjeeling. I left with a peaceful mind and a smile on my face.

Avoid this place in Kalimpong. Bad experience. Staff is exceptionally rude and wasn't allowing us entry as we had just 10 minutes left. Although we were allowed later we were charged the full ticket fee. It is a really small place with very few cactus. Maintenance is very bad and seems the entry fees goes to the staff's pockets.

A cactus lover’s paradise in the hills! 🌵✨ Pine View Nursery in Kalimpong surprised me with its incredible and massive collection of cacti — easily one of the most unique nursery experiences I’ve had in India. From tiny, intricate varieties to giant, spiky showstoppers, the diversity here is mind-blowing. Some of the cactus species are rare and decades old, and you can tell they’ve been lovingly nurtured. It’s like stepping into a desert-themed botanical garden, but set against the misty backdrop of the Himalayan foothills — absolutely surreal! Even if you’re not a plant enthusiast, walking among these beautiful, unusual plants is a visual treat. It’s peaceful, educational, and truly photogenic. You’ll definitely walk away with a new appreciation for these fascinating plants. If you’re visiting Kalimpong, don’t miss this spot — a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who enjoys the quiet charm of green spaces. 🌿📸🌵 Would you like a quirky or punny version for Instagram? Something like: “Kalimpong’s sharpest attraction — and I’m totally stuck on it! 🌵😉”

A peaceful and spiritually uplifting destination nestled amidst the misty mountains of Ravangla. The towering statue of Lord Buddha is truly majestic, set against a scenic backdrop of lush hills and clouds. The park is beautifully maintained, with well-laid walking paths, manicured gardens, and an informative monastery museum inside the complex. There’s an e-cart service for ₹300—not mandatory, but I visited during heavy rain, and it was extremely helpful for a comfortable visit without getting drenched. On a clear day, you can easily skip it and enjoy a serene walk.

We visited Buddha park on 04.06.2025. It was raining a lot since morning. It was densely foggy. We couldn't see the Buddha statue for a long time. The weather cleared a bit after a while but we weren't satisfied. So we came back in the afternoon and stayed till evening. The weather was absolutely clear then. The morning tickets allowed us entry in the afternoon. Ticket prices were Rs. 80/person and with a student ID, you can get ticket for Rs. 20. Parking charge was Rs. 50.

Very beautiful and serene place. But the authority should arrage 1) Drinking water in the long trekking way from the gate to the ruins 2) Toilets 3) some resting places to seat As, for the older peoples, its very essential.

Extremely well maintained Palace Ruins not to be missed! We loved our visit to Rabdentse Palace Ruins, the walk through the ancient alpine forest brought a sense of serenity... Nice walk and view.
Mr. K — Google review
Rabdentse was a great experience. It is a historical place deeply connected with the political history of Sikkim. In fact, it was the second capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814. We could visualize the past getting recreated when we were told that the old capital city of Rabdentse was destroyed by the invading Gurkha army. Now what we see are the ruins of that old palace and other buildings.

This is the second capital of Sikkim. The ruins are not in very good condition. ASI should take more care to protect it The path leading to the ruins is through a dense 1 km long pine forest

Rabdentse, the former capital of the Sikkim kingdom, is an important historical site. Access involves a 20-minute trek through dense forest, offering an adventurous experience in refreshing, cool air. On clear days, visitors are rewarded with a spectacular view of Kanchenjunga; however, during our March visit the weather was cloudy and cool. The premises are well maintained, making it a rewarding destination for history and nature enthusiasts alike.

Tiger Hill, situated 2590 meters above sea level and 13 kilometers from Darjeeling, is renowned for its breathtaking sunrise views. It offers a spectacular sight of the sun illuminating the peaks of Kanchenjunga before it appears at lower altitudes. This hill is also the summit of Ghoom, the highest railway station on the Darjeeling Himalayan Train route, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Dear folks I'm reviewing Most beautiful place in Darjeeling. The Tiger Hill. Tiger Hill Sunrise Point is truly a must-visit when in Darjeeling! Located about a 30–40 minute drive from the main city, it’s famous for offering a breathtaking view of the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Ideally, you should plan your visit between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to catch the magical first rays lighting up the snow-clad peaks. However, do keep in mind that the weather in Darjeeling can be very unpredictable. If clouds are too dense, the majestic Himalayan view might hide itself away! The spot is peaceful and fills you with a deep sense of calm and wonder. With the cool winds blowing. whether you make it for sunrise or visit later in the day, Tiger Hill is absolutely worth every moment — a truly unforgettable experience. Must recommended place in Darjeeling
Dhaara S — Google review
Check for the clouds at around 3am before heading here to get an idea whether you can see the mountains especially the Kanchanjunga. The vehicle management needs to improve. The entire tourist population of Darjeeling will be here with atleast 300 cars on a weekday and more on the weekends. So be ready to walk a bit because your driver will prefer keeping the car at the far end to ease the departure. No official observatory here when I went in the month of October 2025. You'll have some local vendors who serve maggie and momo as well. So enjoy this place and be hopeful that the weather gods bless you

At Tiger Hill before the dawn, The world is quiet, still, and calm. Then slowly, light begins to rise— A golden whisper in the skies. Kangchenjunga wakes in glow, Blushing pink with morning’s show. The Sleeping Buddha shines in gold, A sight that never can grow old. Clouds drift soft, the air is chill, Magic lingers on the hill. In that moment, pure and true— The mountains feel like they’re blessing you. A sunrise framed in heaven’s hue—

Beautiful resort, with amazing decor and friendly staff. It is centrally located. There are two lifts, one from the parking lot and another from the front entrance. The resort is spacious and spread over different levels. The parking, though available, is limited. The food is good but the buffet is too expensive compared to the choice of dishes offered. Rooms are spacious, with good heating arrangement, but the wardrobe space is limited. The mobile signal of most national networks is intermittent, but the WiFi connectivity is good. The reason for the 4 star ⭐ rating is mainly the intercom. Every time you wish to dial another room, you have to go through the operator.

Beautiful resort, with amazing decor and exceptional hospitality. All aminities available, centrally located. My only concern was with the food. I generally avoid buffets as food in buffet is most of the times average and also you tend to overeat. I stayed there for 4 nights and opted for the alacarte dining. Choice of items is limited, more over the preparation/ taste of food is very very average, rather below average for the dishes I had ordered......absolutely not expected from a star rated property. Will I stay there again - Yes Will i dine there - No

My 2-year old son, wife and I stayed in there for 3 nights and here is my honest experience. Please note we stayed in Lloyd's cottage so the room related details are specific to the room. Rest of it is generic Hotel itself is excellent - huge and spread out hotel with a colonial heritage. impeccably maintained. Service - The BEST part. We had been quite demanding, keeping in mind we had an infant with us. Every request was kept with a smile. Amenities - Cannot imagine needing anything else from a hotel. They provided slippers, bathrobe, even umbrellas, there was a playroom for children as well. Food - the breakfast spread was excellent. The Ala carte menu was decent. Location - Not exactly on the mall but just a 10 min walk in a quieter neighbourhood. Possibly less so for fitter people. Room and view - very decently sized room. We had a balcony with a valley view. Overall we were extremely satisfied with our stay. Our heartfelt thanks to each employee.

As I stood at the institution in Darjeeling, the Himalayas unfolded before me like a canvas of breathtaking beauty. The snow-capped peaks, majestic and towering, seemed to defy gravity, their rugged grandeur softened by the gentle caress of mist. The mountains' serene silence was punctuated only by the sweet songs of birds and the rustle of leaves, creating a symphony that resonated deep within my soul. The Himalayas are a masterpiece of nature, crafted over millions of years by the patient hands of wind, water, and ice. As I gazed upon their majestic form, I felt the weight of their ancient history, the stories of civilizations past etched into every rock and valley. The institution, nestled in the heart of this natural wonder, seemed a haven for those seeking knowledge and adventure. The Himalayas near Darjeeling are a haven for the senses. The scent of rhododendrons and pine wafted through the air, mingling with the earthy aroma of the forest floor. The taste of local tea, rich and full-bodied, was a perfect complement to the stunning views. As I sipped my tea, I felt the stress of the world melt away, replaced by a sense of tranquility and awe. The institution's surroundings offer a wealth of opportunities for exploration and discovery. From trekking and mountaineering to birdwatching and photography, there's something for every kind of adventurer. As I watched the sun set over the Himalayas, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson, I felt grateful to be in this enchanting location. In the evening, as the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, the Himalayas took on a mystical quality. The mountains seemed to whisper secrets to the wind, their ancient wisdom carried on the breeze. As I stood there, enveloped by the majesty of the Himalayas, I felt a deep sense of connection to the natural world. The Himalayas near Darjeeling are a treasure trove of natural beauty, cultural richness, and adventure opportunities. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or simply someone seeking inspiration, the Himalayas are sure to leave you spellbound. As I left the institution, I carried with me memories of the majestic Himalayas, their grandeur and beauty forever etched in my mind.

Invaluable tourist spot in Darjeeling. Great place to view the glorious attempts to climb the tallest mountain peaks in India and Nepal. We also get the opportunity to see the various gear used by the countless mountaineers in their attempts to climb them. There are also the statues of Tenzing Sherpa and Edmund Hillary. We pause there in awe as we recollect their heroic feat. The entire process of mountaineering is described in detail there. There are several magnificent photographs too.

The location is scenic, nestled near the Darjeeling Zoo, with a backdrop of the Himalayas. Great for families, students, or solo travelers. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and the entire experience is both educational and enriching. Truly Peaceful: Kanchenjunga Views & Japanese Culture The Darjeeling Peace Pagoda is a must-visit for total peace and incredible mountain views. The natural setting is beautiful, filled with lush trees and the sound of birds chirping, making it instantly calming. On a clear day, the view is spectacular—you get a clear, majestic shot of the Himalayas, especially the iconic Kanchenjunga. The Pagoda itself is an important symbol of Buddhism and global harmony. It was built by the revered founder, Nichidatsu Fujii Guruji, and its simple, elegant design beautifully showcases Japanese culture and architecture. It's a wonderful, pristine spot for quiet reflection. Highly, highly recommended!

A calm and spiritually refreshing place with stunning views of the Darjeeling hills. The Japanese Temple exudes serenity, and the rhythmic chanting of the monks creates a deeply peaceful atmosphere. The adjoining Peace Pagoda, with its gleaming white structure and golden Buddha panels, is beautifully maintained and photogenic. A short walk connects both sites, making it a fulfilling visit. However, parking can be quite congested, especially during peak hours, so it’s better to come early or hire a local cab. A must-visit spot to experience peace, architecture, and panoramic views of Darjeeling in one frame.

Batasia Loop is a must-visit attraction in Darjeeling, India. Located near Ghoom, it features a lush green garden where the Toy Train completes a loop. The garden spans an impressive fifty thousand square feet and showcases an array of beautiful flowers and plants. This spot offers panoramic views of Darjeeling and was designed to facilitate easy navigation around the area's terrain.
Owners are so soft-spoken and extremely extremely helpful ... They keep an sharp eye for all the comforts of the guests ... They provide few services (which few hotels charge money for) without even charging anything and even help the guests out if they are facing some problems during their stay ... They have magic in their hands as their home-cooked food with fresh ingredients are at another level which will force someone to gain 3-4kgs, can't stop drooling over their cooked meals ! 🤤The view of the toy-train passing by is the cherry 🍒 on the top 😍

You will get a unforgettable memory... 🏔🤍

Fantastic place but the road from Tumling will be hell even in a 4x4. It's very cold (once it gets cloudy and chilly) even in October so take appropriate warm clothes. Ideal for treks. Do not mess with the yaks and the horses. The yaks might chase you thinking you have salt. Running water is a big issue here.

West Bengal s highest mountain peak but it is very crowdy. Beautiful sceneries can be seen from here . Most favourite trekking attraction is sandakhfu for trekkers. You can also come this place by landrover but trekking is more adventurous.
Debraj B — Google review
One of the most beautiful place I have ever visited. I was there in the month of February 2024. It was a bit off season and at night temperature was around -5 degree. Hotel sunrise is one of the choices for staying there. But when I stayed there , there was no electricity, so as usual there was no room heater or anything to keep us warm, so in that climate condition it was a bit difficult for all the travellers. Even glass windows were frozen inside the room. But the very next day when we saw the clear sky and the beautiful sunrise , all our exhaustion had turned into joy and happiness.you can visit the place either by hiking or by car , you can reach to Manibhanjan from NJP , from Manibhanjan you can hire a guide if you want to reach the place by trekking,it’s a 4 days trek only for sandakphu , and if you want to cover Phalut , then it’s a 5 days trek. Another option is you can take the legendary Land Rover or Mahindra Marshal kind of jeeps to reach there. If the sky is clear then you can see the most mesmerising view of Kanchanjunga range. I am sharing some photos from my gallery. Keep travelling keep knowing the u know.

The peak is located at the edge of the Singalila National Park and has a small village on the summit with a few hotels. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. Must visit place in West Bengal, its beauty is beyond expectation.

One of the most difficult terrain to conquer. ROADS are almost non existence. But adventurous. If you're looking for adventure you can definitely visit this place. View of Kanchenjunga is Mesmerising and the sunrise is just wow

The last 14 km trekking from Tumling to Sandakphu is totally WORTH it!! I would suggest everyone who lives in West Bengal to atleast visit this place once in their lifetime. This place is indescribable and unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! ❤️ One of the best place I've been. Very cheap, if you know the place and people. If you want to go by car, book Land rover car from the ticket counter. It will be very cheap for you. PLEASE don't allow the "Tour Guide" book the Hotels and Cars, they will charge double. The Guide will tell you Hotels/cars are not available etc... Just to fill up their pockets. Always book cars and hotels by yourself. Don't go for so called guides (dalals). People are very nice and helpful over there.. I've been to this place two times.

Jaanki temple pride of mithila. It reminds us the glory of mithila, raja janak and mata sita. My nani always wanted to visit Janki temple, so we all decided to go to Janki temple. So We hired a car and went to Janki temple. Reaching there we saw the temple, a high white colored temple in which red and green colors were also used; its grandeur was spreading in all four directions. Our day was good, so we could have darshan of mata sita very easily. The attitude of the pujari's of the temple was very good towards the devotees. The temple was quite clean. We also saw the marriage place, it was also equally grand. Everything in the entire temple was very good except one thing and that was the toilet, the toilet was arranged at a distance where a lady used to sit and before using the toilet we had to pay money, without money she would not let us go inside. Due to her we and more than us our ladies faced a lot of problems.

Janaki Mandir is a major Hindu temple in Janakpur, dedicated to Goddess Sita (also known as Janaki), the daughter of King Janaka and wife of Lord Rama. It is one of the largest and most important pilgrimage sites in Nepal. The temple celebrates the sacred love story of Goddess Sita and Lord Rama, making it one of the most spiritually uplifting places in Nepal. Its bright white façade, domes, arches, and carvings make it look like a palace—especially magical during sunrise and evening lights. Colorful Madhubani/Mithila paintings around the complex reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Maithil people.

I recently visited Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Saheb (Patna Sahib) with my family after a long time and it was a deeply peaceful and spiritual experience. The Gurudwara is beautifully maintained — the white marble, golden domes, and serene atmosphere fill you with calm. Knowing it’s the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji made the visit even more special. The Langar was simple and delicious, served with great devotion. However, one thing that didn’t feel right was being asked to join both hands while receiving roti — it almost gave a feeling of being treated like a beggar rather than a devotee. I completely understand the intent of humility, but perhaps this could be done in a more respectful way. Overall, it’s a divine place that fills you with peace and positivity. A must-visit for anyone coming to Patna. 🙏

Takht Shri Harimandir Ji, also known as Patna Sahib Gurudwara, is one of the most revered Sikh pilgrimage sites and a spiritual gem of Bihar. Built in honor of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru who was born here in 1666, the shrine holds immense historical and religious significance. The moment you enter the complex, a sense of peace and devotion takes over. The architecture is grand yet serene, with its white marble structure, golden domes, and intricately carved interiors reflecting both beauty and divinity. The sanctum, where devotees bow in reverence, radiates calmness and spiritual strength. One of the most touching aspects of the gurudwara is the practice of langar (community kitchen), where free meals are served to all visitors regardless of faith, caste, or background. The volunteers’ dedication and the spirit of equality here leave a lasting impression. The gurudwara is well-maintained, though it can get very crowded during festivals and important Sikh occasions. Still, the management handles the flow of devotees efficiently, ensuring everyone gets a chance to offer prayers. Overall, visiting Takht Shri Harimandir Ji is not just a religious experience but also a lesson in humility, service, and unity.

Golghar, a stupa-style granary completed in 1786, is a prominent tourist attraction in Patna. Although climbing the 145 stairs to the top for city views may be restricted currently, it remains a popular spot for picnics and hosts sound and light shows from Tuesday to Sunday. Originally built as a storehouse, Golghar now stands as a recreational site drawing both local and international visitors annually.
It is a peaceful historical place, there is also a park here, people often come here in the evening to listen to the chirping of birds. You must visit here, it is huge and can be seen closely.

Visitors can climb the spiral staircase, which has 145 steps, to enjoy breathtaking views of the Ganga River and Patna city. Though never used for its intended purpose due to a design flaw, Gol Ghar remains a fascinating historical landmark.Golghar, an enormous granary, was built by Captain John Garstin for British army in 1786, after the terrible impact of 1770 famine. The winding stairway around this monument offers a brilliant view of the city and the Ganga flowing nearby. It is pillar-less with a wall of thickness of 3.6 m at the base height of 29 m..The Golghar or Gol Ghar, is a large granary located to the west of the Gandhi Maidan in Patna, capital city of Bihar state, India.
Santosh P — Google review
Golghar is a pre-historic tallest building of Bihar but in present times, buildings much taller than Golghar have been built in Patna but Golghar is no longer like it was before, you can only visit a small park
Manish K — Google review
Not much of a monument but a place to chill . Often less crowded , good for individuals, couples ,who want to spend time alone. Maximum half an hour is required to fully explore it.
Mohammad R — Google review
The Golghar, meaning "Round House," is a monumental granary located in Patna, Bihar. It was commissioned by the then Governor-General Warren Hastings and constructed by the British engineer Captain John Garstin, with completion in 1786. Its primary purpose was a humanitarian measure: to act as a massive storehouse for grains to prevent the widespread starvation witnessed during the devastating Bengal Famine of 1770. Architecturally, the Golghar is a magnificent, beehive-shaped dome, rising 29 meters high. It is notable for its pillar-less design and massive walls, nearly 3.6 meters thick at the base, which maximized internal storage space. The structure's design was inspired by the ancient Buddhist Stupa style, creating a striking historical silhouette against the modern cityscape. The most distinctive feature is the twin spiral staircase wrapped around its exterior, comprising 145 steps. This ingenious design was meant to allow workers to ascend with grain sacks on one side and descend on the other without obstruction. Ironically, a rumored design flaw, the doors opening inwards, meant the granary was never filled to its intended capacity of 140,000 tons. Today, the Golghar functions as a prime tourist attraction, no longer serving its original utilitarian purpose. The climb, while lengthy, is worth the effort, rewarding visitors with a breathtaking panoramic view of Patna and the flowing Ganga River, making it an iconic spot for photography. Ultimately, the Golghar stands as a potent symbol: a testament to colonial-era engineering and a solemn reminder of the famine it was built to combat. It is an unmissable landmark that beautifully merges historical context with striking architecture, anchoring the heritage of the city.
Rizwan U — Google review
Golghar in Patna was quite disappointing and didn’t live up to the hype. The structure itself is historically interesting, but the maintenance is very poor. The area around it is unclean, with litter scattered and little effort made to preserve the site’s heritage value. The inside of the monument is closed to visitors, so there’s not much to actually experience except walking around the dome. The viewpoints that were once popular are no longer accessible, and the surrounding gardens are neglected and poorly kept. Overall, Golghar feels more like a forgotten monument than a tourist attraction. With better upkeep, lighting, and informative signage, it could be a beautiful historical spot, but in its current state, it’s not worth a special visit.

This temple is run by a trust which use money of the temple in the development for example they have hospital etc. This is the most important site for hindu. There is shoe counter outside the temple which is free of cost. Must try Navedam sweet which is made up of pure ghee and dry fruits. After hanuman darshan must see the stone on the 1st floor which keep floating in water. This temple is just outside the Patna railway station. Therefore it is one of the my favourite place in Patna to visit.
