The ferry ride across is really nice. My kids really found it fun. The ferry also several clean toilets, which was a total bonus. There is also a small observation deck. Prior to getting on the ferry there is small snackbar, including a small fish n'chips shop at the parking lot before. The downside is the waiting time! The queue is far too long, in summer time expect to wait at least one hour. Another point is the road to and from the ferry is horrible, as it's just regular country and city roads.

Cost 8.50 to take a car + driver , which I think is ok, waiting times can be very long , I had to wait 40 minutes but later in the day it was over 2 hours wait (they usually announce on the website when waitings are over one hour and also on the radio (NDR ) If waitings gets longer, But if you aren't in a hurry and for example as me are heading west from the north this is a nice alternative to going on the A7 and does save quite a few miles. Unfortunately ( for us that travel by car)the que system doesn't apply to motorbikes , when a traveled over about 1/5 of the ferry was filled with bikes that just skip the line , seems to be a accepted fact , so if you are on a bike this route is a fast option

But took ages to get to the port driving through endless suburbia just to get to the port, only then to be told a few km from the port that there was a one hour queue, too late to turn around. 2025.02.15: free to enter, half an hour away from Hamburg, by car. The area is huge, if you're planning to go through in detail and also read everything you'll need multiple hours to do that. The place has a special atmosphere where you can really feel the weight of the happenings of the past. Worth visiting.

I spent 5 to 6 hours here , totally worth the commuting to this memorial. Even on a rainy day, it was worth it, it actually gave a deeper experience. Very wide big place. Advise hearing the audios of testimonies and take some time for reading to emerge into it. Altought peaceful, heavy.

Very informative and eye opening experience. The premise is spread over a very big area. So be prepared to walk a lot in the open. Unfortunately we visited on a rainy day, so couldn't explore much of the ground. But exhibition is very informative with lots of original photos and documents. Entry and exhibition are free.

It's hard to rate a place so full of sad memories and dark times. But the place itself is quiet, somber, and very respectful of its history. The displays are thoughtful and deep. I was particularly moved by the albums that were about a single person. When you read them and realize that over 100,000 passed thru the camp, it's an overwhelming moment.

This concentration camp became a prison after WWII, before becoming an exhibition centre. Therefore, there aren't many original features of the camp which remain. There is a lot of learning material available in the exhibition space, with photos and information. You have to pick up separate cards at each exhibit point if you want to read in English French or Polish. The reception desk has a map which suggests a one hour or two hour route of the camp.

Free to visit. You can still feel the menacing atmosphere. Many old buildings still intact and the exhibitions were interesting with lots of old stuff from the camps.

Recommended if you want to know more details about the World War 2 and the life of prisoners in this concentration camp. We can only imagine the effect that it left on so many families.

I enjoyed it so much that I booked a boat tour of both the Inner and Outer Lakes today.

Hamburg is rich in trees and beautiful gardens, and in addition to those resources, has some marvelous parks. The Stadtpark stands out — acres and acres of green spaces, trees, well-tended flowers and shrubs, with beautiful, quiet walking trails going all through the park. On the beautiful May evening we walked in the park, blackbirds were singing loudly, making the whole experience enchanted. As the friends who took me to the park said, "This is the green lung of our city and we intend to cherish it for that reason."

Great park for families! The huge water play area kept the kids entertained for hours. Lots of space to run around, clean facilities, and plenty of shade for parents to relax. Perfect spot for a summer day out.

Beautiful huge park! It was raining on that day, but still really enjoy to walk around. There are so many photo spots and places to go, but I only can explore a few of it: the lake, boat riding place, playground, and rose garden. I love to watch the ducks swimming around 🥰. Can't wait for the sunny day and bring my picnic mat!

This is a large, open park on the north side of Hamburg's city center, integrated into the urban landscape without big gates or fences. Many people come here to jog, walk, or walk their dogs, or cycle. The park also offers several restaurants and small cafes for relaxation. You might even spot a street performer playing the trumpet. if you like, do not spare your coins! The best part is the non-artificiality. There are no neatly paved running tracks, only wide paths covered in fallen leaves, with the smell of earth and moisture. Dogs, especially large dogs, can have a blast here, running freely on the grass without leashes. Although Hamburg winters are often gloomy and sunless, the vibrancy of this park is truly therapeutic.

This park is absolutely stunning. Very well maintained. There is an amazing cafe that sells an incredibly taste iced coffee with cream. It's worth making a stop here on your way from the airport to the city centre.

Nice place to relax, especially with children. It’s very warm everywhere, which makes it quite cozy. However, the whole experience is significantly affected by the following issues: • Mediocre food at best, for premium prices. Bringing your own food is forbidden, yet you’re expected to pay 10+ euros for a Currywurst and fries (“Sparmenü”). I wouldn’t complain if the food quality and taste were acceptable. • Changing is challenging. There are very few changing rooms, which are not practical for families. As a result, you may end up having to change in the open areas. • Too few lockers for valuables. By noon, I found all of them already occupied. Overall, I found that the experience fell short in a few areas compared to the advertising. It feels a bit run-down, yet you’re expected to pay premium prices. Around 100€ per day for two adults and two kids is typical.

Absolutely amazing! Thank me of the top indoor/outdoor pools in Germany. We went here expecting to just spend 2-3hrs. We ended up staying the whole day. Plenty of fun’s for the kids. The saunas are phenomenal. Highly recommend. Recommend bringing your own towels and robes for the sauna. But you can also rent them for a small fee.

Probably the best spa resort for families with small children. Suggested to come at the opening hours, tends to get very full during midday. Also, it is advised to order lunch before 12:00, because the wait times get long. Otherwise top when it comes up cleanliness and service.

Everything was ver nice! That is the most clean wellness center I have ever seen, of course we went on a Monday which is not so crowded but still you can see they take care of the place! The stuff was very polite and helpful and I loved how the place has so many different styles to relax! Also the price is quite fair for what you get! I am taking one star away because the sauna programs was like everything the same ,boring and never on time! We were there sitting and waiting for the people to come slowly and make the program! Also there was no rule for staying quiet as a result some rude people to talk o laugh loud and none of the stuff do anything! Bit annoying! And one more reason that the bar was a little expensive! I mean 2,40€ for a small glass tap water is waaay too much! Above all that was a place I highly recommend and you should try

Great little “village” of designer brands from all categories, dotted with coffee shops and ice cream parlors. The shopping selection is impressive and well-organized, with something for every taste and budget. Food wise, it’s functional rather than fantastic but enough to keep you going. Don’t expect a culinary highlight. A well-maintained and pleasant place for a day of bargain hunting (weather permitting).

The calm before the shopping rush gave me a chance to really take in the spacious layout and the modern design of the outlet. Located on Oderstraße 10, it’s about 45 minutes by car from Hamburg, and you can also get there by train from Hamburg Dammtor to Neumünster with a transfer, which takes around 1.5 hours. Even before the shops opened at 10 am, I noticed the huge parking area with plenty of spots, including premium and electric vehicle charging stations. The outlet hosts over 120 designer stores offering discounts up to 70%, featuring brands like Karl Lagerfeld, Woolrich, and Zwilling. I was excited to come back later and explore all the fashion, accessories, and more. The peaceful morning also gave me a moment to appreciate the cafes and restaurants that would soon fill with visitors. It felt like a perfect blend of convenience and style, making it clear why this spot is a favorite for both locals and travelers looking for great deals near Hamburg. If you’re coming without a car, the best way is to take the train from Hamburg Dammtor to Neumünster, then a short bus or taxi ride to the outlet. I recommend a WHOLE day here. It's really worth seeing all the stores, we spent 4.5 hours there and it wasn't enough. Coach, Aigner, Joop Mixed with Levi, Marco Polo , Wrangler ... A mix of high end brands and affordable brands. Highly recommend 🥳

An interesting way of transporting people and cars over the canal. As pedestrians and bikes are prioritised, and the que for cars can be long (takes max 4 cars of max 3,5 tons, and no motorhomes), go there on foot or by bike. It's free of charge either way. Runs 4 times per hour.

A really beautiful bridge with an interesting transportation for crossing the river. Meanwhile, taking a train passing through the bridge is fantastic, sine it is really high, you would get an astoniahing view. ;)

Supposedly a great show. Was supposed to be seated front and center but could not go to seat because our kid was asleep in his pram. After being told it was ok to seat somewhere in the middle, eventually got told off and had to go all the way up to the very back seats where it was very windy. Completely killed it for me.

During our trip to Denmark, we made a stop at Gottorf Castle (Schloss Gottorf) and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The castle is located in a picturesque spot surrounded by beautiful trees and lush green areas, offering a peaceful atmosphere. The numerous sculptures scattered around the grounds add a unique artistic flair, making the castle even more iconic and memorable. Although it’s not a luxury castle, it holds a lot of historical charm. The cozy coffee shop outside was perfect for a quick break, and the convenient parking space made it easy to rest during our journey. Gottorf Castle is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area – a great blend of culture, history, and nature that provides a perfect stopover on a long drive.

An excellent, detail oriented museum combining ongoing exhibitions on regional art, culture and history as well as special ones. As it is quite large it is advisable to plan according to own points of interest beforehand, as there is a lot to see.

Great Museum. Spent the day here and didn't get to see everything. The Palace has 2 Museums, one of the local history, the other of Art and Culture. There were also 2 art exhibitions, 1 one of which was included in the price of €10, the other was 5€ extra. The Gardens and park were free, the Globus in the gardens is an extra 3€. Great value for money. Highly recomended. Haitabu, Schleswig, Kappeln and the Schlei are all very close by.

Beautiful museum, beacuse of lack of time i only manage to see new viking exhibition + early medieval and late medieval in main building. The only thing that is missing is date/period on exhibit description.

Stopped here driving from Germany to Denmark. You can walk around outside for free. It is very picturesque! There was a small Cafe on the grounds. Plenty of free parking.

Amazing collection showing pieces from the county from the building of the original castle back in the 1100s. No English translation on the individual exhibits, but a nice description in general of each room on a display stand. The Nydamboot display, a 23m viking boat found in a nearby bog, in a separate building is very well done. We didn't have tune to see the baroque gardens, the archaeological exhibit, or the other art displays in the stable buildings, so definitely a reason to go back again.

A hidden gem of a museum, just outside of Schleswig at the Schlei (Sly Firth). Stone Age tools, Bog bodies, Iron Age relics, an old rowboat that is close to 1800 years old, and so much more await in this very well curated museum. A great overview over human activity reaching back thousands of years, in what is now northern Germany and southern Denmark. Many signs are in German and Danish only, but English reference text and possibly audio are available.

It really is hard to represent this place via pictures. The quiet, the smell, the absolutely immense size of the site... you must go and experience it. The village was built with impressive attention to detail. The animals surrounding the area add to the atmosphere of a time were food was produced close to where it was consumed. The sheep you can actually get close too and approach. Museum staff is adorable! =) Super helpful in setting up the voice guides. Definitely a bucket list item for viking and nature fans. Notes I wish I had before going: 1) It's a huge place! Go with time. At least half a day. The museum closes at 17h, that can complicate an afternoon visit. 2) Start at the museum, it will give you context on the landscape where the village sits. 3) Take food with you. There is a coffee shop there, but limited meal choices. Only one restaurant close by. Decent food, but bit pricey. Not very friendly to foreigners, no English menu. 4) If you are into woods, you can take some extra time to explore the area around. 5) If you go by public transport, remember it's a rural area. Flashier clothes / left leaning symbols may get you an occasional intrigued and not so friendly pair of eyes.. or comments.

Good museum of the Viking Age. For English speakers there is a complete book of reading for the exhibits and you can use your phone for audio and text information. The outdoor recreation of buildings is good but under developed - there is little explanation. A lot more could be done here.

Absolutely fascinating place with an importance during Viking times that can hardly be exaggerated. Highly recommended!

Very interesting museum and exhibits rather spoilt by poor building design and poor exhibition design. When we visited we had to wait for about 20 minutes outside the entrance before we could buy tickets. What happens when it rains? The entrance building should have been much larger in order to accommodate the large numbers of people who visit. Once we had tickets we had to go outside again to access the exhibition crossing the line of people waiting to buy tickets. Large numbers of the exhibits are badly lit so that it is not possible to read the information cards. Some exhibits are on shelves above eye level so it is not possible to see them! There is very little information in English. At the housing site there is a short leaflet available describing the houses but at the main exhibition there is virtually no information available in English. I am sure that English-speaking visitors would be willing to buy an information booklet in English; it would make the visit so much more enjoyable and informative! So many opportunities have been missed!

I attended the summer Market (Viking event) held on the archaeological site. So, a visit inside the museum was absolutely necessary. The museum is very interesting as you will see all the items found so far on the site. I heard that the searches are not finished yet, so more items are added year after year.

This is a wonderful store to find Christmas decorations, in including a large assortment of candles. The store is very busy on Saturdays, but it is definitely worth the trip.

An absolute gem of an odds and ends store, where you plan to just take a look and leave with a bag full of stuff you never knew you needed in your life :-D Also famous for its all-year-round christmas cellar shop, where you can buy all christmasish stuff even when it's 30°C outside. Also a good place for souvenirs, as they have probably everything you can imagine with a danish flag on it :D Also friendly personal. You can pay cash (danish Krona only) or with VISA/Master/EC.

If you really like Christmas why not celebrate it all year long and why not buy Christmas stuff anytime you wish. If you think that's just a fantasy and dream, like castles in the clouds, come down to earth and visit Tønder to see the incredible manifestation of a Christmas shop all year round. But that's not all, you can get lots of other stuff you might never need but which will make your life so much more beautiful being surrounded by stuff. If you look for a gift for someone and you don't know what to buy, here you'll find lots of great ideas.

Like many other places in Germany, this area has been cared and well maintained by the people cherish the local historical relics. Inside of area where hidden some exciting lovely dining places can be found, such as beer garden, Irish and British restaurants, bars and etc.. How interesting!Imagine you spend a wonderful evening in the English garden right in the middle of German town! Little shops and boutiques have been opened since then. If you’re new in town, this is one of place you should not miss.

Verona - via Munich, to the danish girl that recommended going to Flensburg and visiting Rote Strasse´, big Thank You! =) I very much appreciated the "old town" style architecture and small shops, cafés, museums. The street is short but walking to the right at the end (coming in from Klostergang) will take you to a town square with local market (saturday only?) and after that you have the main street of FLensburg straight ahead as well, plenty to see. Much better than staying in Hamburg on my way home, genom Danmark till(+) Sverige.

Super interesting and impactful experience. I am more of an artsy person, but i would not miss this. Definitely worth the entrance fee especially to see all the ship models, the view and the submarine! It is such a unique experience to walk inside a submarine and get to know all the historical and technical details about it. I absolutely recommend to visit.

In memory to the fallen soldiers. The memorial looks powerful and depressive. Inside there are some pictures and stories about the war time. I like the wall with many submarines, it shows how many of them sank. It is crazy. So many lost lives. The tower is quite high and inside is a bit creepy if you walk the stairs. The view from the tower is great. It is definitely worth seeing it.

And shows the losses of German ships during both world wars and The transformation of the German Navies. You can take the flight of stairs, or the elevator all the way up to the top of the memorial where you have a wonderful view of U-995 and the surrounding beach. 12/10 would recommend you to go visit if you're in the area.

The venue deliberately didn't respond to mails and calls weren't answered because they were moving to another place or something. How’s our wedding plus reception at Gram Slot. We also booked our all the accommodation. Owner Svend and Exec Chef/Manager Alex were very accommodating for the 60 people in attendance. Accommodation was clean and spacious. Team were very helpful in ensuring satisfaction of our guests. Food quality was fantastic and the wine pairings were perfect. Really recommended!

Their website somehow lacks quite a bit of information about events going on. If there had been more information the trip would have been far more enjoyable. A lot of the things that happen there only happen at a certain time once a day and the information for some of these things were hard to find.

We held our wedding dinner at Gram Slot, and was very satisfied :) The food and location was amazing and we got the bridal suite on the second floor with view of the garden. The only thing we did not understand was why they do not have more weedings at the castle, it is ideal for it :) Pricewise it was really good as well, 21 adaults, 2 kids was less than DKK 20K. Thank you Gram Slot for having us!

We were here because our old friend work as tour guide. Very interesting museum and we were learn about the history of the 1st world war between Denmark and Germany. The kids were enjoyed! Learn about the morse and old fashioned bowling. And beautiful views and the windmill.

It is an interesting historical place for the battle that happened here. Mostly for Germans and Danes. Even though it was back in 1864, there's a lot of information about who was fighting and who died. It was also the first time the Red Cross was there to help.

Very interesting exhibition with lots of history about what happened in the months of 1864. Unfortunately it is a very small site and you can see it all in a few hours. But if you add some walking routes in the surrounding area to see the ancient battle positions it will take longer. Support history and visit this site if you are in the area.

It's a really nice place with a lot of things to do and explore. We had a lot of fun being there. We missed a lot of shows because of our poor timing and the language (some of them are in german). There's a lot of things to do for children and adults alike. We especially enjoyed the wind tunnel ( Beat the Storm) and the Sky Trail (the climbing area...beware of vertigo). It's a good place to visit 2, 3 times. After buying your way in, they will give you a bracelet with a chip encoded that will help you enter anywhere in the park. The restaurants prices are a little steep, but that's to be expected. The staff is friendly and helpful at any stage. You have the option to rent a small wagon for your children or your things, to carry around, for a 50 dkk fee. Most attractions have a secure locker room that you can open via your bracelet, so you can store your belongings while visiting. The parking is decently big, but I would still recommend coming in early. Get your tickets in advance so that you can benefit from 25% discount. [Furthermore, you get a 50% discount if you have a season pass from other attractions (like Givskud Zoo)].

The park is very interesting and educational. However, the way how the park handle the visitors in virtual line making it super unfair for the visitors with regular tickets. At the Sky Trail, the employees kept letting the visitors in the virtual line to get in first whenever they showed up even though the people in the regular line had already waited there for more than 20 minutes (the regular line was not even long at all).

Great expectations and some of them delivered in plenty. Innovative games, quizzes and challenging engaging experiences for most ages. Unfortunately this day some of the biggest exhibitions were closed due to a faulty fireprevention system or other fault. There was a lack of communication from the staff as to why half of the exhibitions were closed due to this.

It's a large science park that kids can enjoy. Children can become familiar with different scientific concepts, play games, and have fun, while parents can enjoy the beautiful and green area inside the park. There are restaurants, ice-cream shops, gift shop, etc. It is a fun way to spend a day.

2025-09-14 - Visited with my wife and three daughters (age 9, 6 and 3). We had a great day with lot of fun. The park is best if you are more than 1,3 meters high as there was quite many attractions which only my oldest daughter could try… Bust still we had a good day!

It's a nice place to spent a day with the kids. I would give it 4,5* if possible. The missing half star is because there were some experiments that where not working ( fire zone) and you should work on the soap mix in the bubble zone 😉

At the Skytrail climbing attraction, our children — who were clearly waiting earlier in the queue — were consistently overlooked, while others who arrived later were helped and equipped first. There was no clear order or number system, yet our children were skipped without explanation. The contrast in how other children were assisted — with attention and patience — was stark. A similar situation occurred at the Segway station, where one of the same staff members again seemed to intentionally avoid instructing or assisting our children, while being notably more attentive to others. Being treated this way — especially when children are involved — simply because of where we come from is unacceptable. We came as paying guests like everyone else, and no one deserves to feel ignored or unwelcome because of their background. Discrimination, intentional or not, has no place in any customer-facing setting. We truly hope your team will take this feedback seriously and address it with the relevant staff. Nice church with good background information about the history

The restoration of this old castle is unique and worth seeing just for a completely different approach to restoring and protecting a heritage building. Definitely worth visiting.

13th century castle on a hill overlooking the town and the castle lake. It is probably Kolding's most famous landmark. If you want to see the castle from the inside, you will have to spend a lot of money. The entrance fee is quite expensive. You can pay in advance online or on site at the ticket office.

Interesting mix of old and new architecture. The castle was partially destroyed in a fire in 1808 and was rebuilt in the 20th century in a way which preserved the original building but also clearly showed the modern parts. One of the highlights for us was the Flora Danica table service. Just amazing. The princess gowns were lovely. There was even the possibility to dress up as royalty yourself. There is a cafe on site. There is parking near the castle but the castle is also within walking distance from the center of town.

Nice castle, the floral porcelain table ware was amazing. I also liked the replica clothing. The lace making looks very hard.

The Kolding Fortress or "Koldinghus" really is an iconic landmark for the city, It being destroyed back in the 1800's has still had a good restoration. Overall it's a good museum and has a great view on the top with the Hercules Statue remaining intact, it's overall a location worth visiting if you're having a transit through the city of Kolding.

This was under serious renovation at the time we visited. Although looking back at the history it seems to have spent more time like this than not! Was a nice casual look around, the way the modern elements slotted into the existing fabric was nothing short of breathtaking.

A really cool place where you can get inspired and enjoy playing with LEGO. Don’t forget to check out the balconies - there’s stuff to see there too. It’s really convenient that you can access all the media you’ve created there with a code from your bracelet and don’t need to save every photo and video separately. Make sure to visit the Mini Chefs restaurant - you’ll need to book in advance, but it’s totally worth it: the food is surprisingly healthy, and the whole presentation and atmosphere are fantastic.

Simply awesome experience, a lot of various, different and interactive activities. All of the center was very bright and beautiful, people working there are like little shiny stars in this sometimes hard world. Definitely worth visiting! Also it was opened when Legoland was in the November break.

Brief but amazing experience around the Lego House store. We stayed for few hours primarily for having dinner at Mini Chef where we shop around while waiting for our table. I particuarly love the mosaic maker section where you can order for your own customize Lego puzzle/mosaic pieces for you to build. It's really a wonderful Lego Billund souvenir choice that you can take home to build and display as keepsake.

Dependant on whether you want a theme park experience vs lego-build experience, this is the better of the two respective lego activities in Billund. The activities and experiences are amazing - builds are huge and well curated, the experiences engage all ages and can be accessed post-visit. The venue and staff are incredibly neuro-affirming too, with low sensory areas and kits available at check-in desks.

Absolutely phenomenal, no matter how old you are, this place brings you back to some very special memories. It’s nostalgic and the Lego House museum adds to an already amazing experience. There are lots and lots of interactive activities for the kids and the builds are just mind blowing

If your a fan of Lego you just need to come here and spend a day exploring the building and all it has to offer and needless to say you need to buy some of those sweet signed sets or even the house exclusive sets. Beautiful park, some areas could need a little touch-up / love, but we absolutely loved it. There is something for everyone. I especially adored all the attention to details. A dog bowl in Lego etc. Halloween isn’t really a thing where we’re from, so we were surprised to see the whole park decorated. (Since we forgot that we were going in the week of Halloween) It was a pleasant surprise and made the whole experience feel magical. The prices change when pre ordering tickets depending on date, it was wise to order them with a discount online, the day before we went.

We just visited during the autumn holiday and had an absolute blast on the rides! The atmosphere was great, and we treated ourselves to some delicious churros too 👀 I was also there in summer and had such a fun time - especially on the water-themed rides like the canoe and the pirate boat 💦 Always a great day out! Even during holidays the lines aren’t bad - the longest we waited was about 20 mins. Highly recommended for kids! ✨️

A fantastic place for kids and families! The park is cozy, creative, and full of fun details everywhere you look. I recommend going on a day when it’s less crowded – it makes the experience so much better (we loved being able to walk straight through the queues without waiting). This place is so fun my 3 children had a blast. They have many rides that even my 1 year old can go on, providing that we held her in our lap or sat next to her. The rides are diverse, the line ups were not too long. All in all a fantastic experience. Only criticism would be we should have had 2 full days to see everything, it's a lot if you only have 1 day.

We visited in September, and Legoland was a bit of a disappointment. It’s the oldest Legoland, and you can tell - everything looks a bit faded, there’s some cobwebs here and there, and it’s not very clean overall. Inside there’s a great big LEGO store, but the prices are higher than in the Netherlands. It only really makes sense to buy the limited editions - though, to be honest, they’re not particularly exciting either. Overall, if you’re traveling from another country just for Legoland, it might be worth considering other destinations. But don’t forget - there’s also the LEGO House in Billund, and that place is really great.

Fun for a whole day for both small kiddos and adults. Plenty of spaces to sit down and eat the lunch you bring (and you should bring one, because food in the park is expensive). The Atlantis sea world part was very cool with live fish aquariums to look at. We were there on a Friday in October on a mostly cloudy day and it was the perfect amount of people - we only had to queue for the biggest thrill rides and even then only 15min. All other attractions was max 5 minutes wait, so we could even do all rides multiple times if we wanted to. Pay for parking in advance for smoother experience.

The internationally renowned museum of modern art, craft and design, Trapholt, is situated in gorgeous surroundings by Kolding Fjord. The museum featuring paintings and sculptures made by famous international and Danish artists. Its a must visit place in Denmark 🇩🇰. Highly recommended.

Trapholt always puts on very interesting exhibitions and Feel me is well worth a visit. Daniel Wurtzel's piece Air Fountain in particular makes the trip exceptional but there are many other wonderful works included which means that you should go. If you have time and spare cash for a visit to the cafe then that's recommended as well. It may seem dear at first glance but you get value for money with good food and sizeable portions. Don't forget to grab a piece of cake if you have room for it (we didn't 😂). After lunch make sure you stick your head out into the lovely grounds which offer rich beds of flowers at the right time of year (we were there in July), and beautiful views of the sea all year round.

I recently visited Trapholt in Kolding with my parents and my girlfriend, and despite not being someone who regularly visits modern art museums, this experience turned out to be a truly pleasant surprise. Trapholt is beautifully located near the water and has a light, open architecture that makes it feel welcoming and easy to explore. The layout of the museum is very visitor-friendly, and it was a joy simply walking through the space. Many of the exhibitions invited a kind of semi-interactive experience, which made the visit feel more engaging and personal. During our visit, we saw two major exhibitions: Michael Kvium – Skyggeteater (Shadow Theatre) and Mie Olise Kjærgaard – Agile Aggressions. Kvium’s work was, as always, thought-provoking and slightly unsettling, exploring the darker sides of human nature through dramatic imagery and strong symbolism. Mie Olise Kjærgaard’s exhibition, on the other hand, felt more abstract and experimental, and it invited us into a colorful and chaotic universe that was both playful and aggressive, in the best possible sense. One of the highlights of the day was visiting the Arne Jacobsen summerhouse, which is an integral part of the museum’s permanent collection. This full-scale house was designed by the famous Danish architect and designer in the 1950s, and walking through it was like stepping into a living design catalog. The house is a unique example of modernist architecture and functionalist design, with every detail—furniture, color palette, materials, and layout—carefully thought out. It showcases Jacobsen’s ability to combine simplicity with elegance, creating a space that feels both practical and deeply aesthetic. For anyone with even a passing interest in design or architecture, the summerhouse is an absolute must-see. All in all, Trapholt offered an inspiring and relaxed art experience that felt approachable even for someone not deeply immersed in the world of modern art. It’s a place I would definitely recommend—and one I wouldn’t hesitate to return to.

A great experience overall. I went with no expectation and knew nothing of the current exhibitions. There was a good selection of art pieces and great variety in styles, concepts and shapes. The tour to the Kubelflex was also something I recommend as it adds to the visit. I spent 2 hours there and covered all available rooms.

Give yourself at least 60-90 minutes to take it in. See the church in the back, we were lucky to hear the organist playing. Many families here with hands on activities. Take a while to explore and read the markers for explanations. Good gift shop too.

There is a big hill next to a church that you should and can't ignore when you are visiting there. It's a good relaxing sight but the only way to get up on the top of the hill is by walking on the staircase next to the church. There is no flat road, so if you are a bad walker you may want to think twice if you want to go upstairs. There is no bench or sitting place on top of hill. For history buffs, you are looking at the runes that established Denmark as a country. The historic church (kirke) is typical of the many that dot the landscape of Denmark.

The science museum is free to enter and you could certainly have a great time in here. The museum seems to be more targeted for a younger audience than for adults who aren't parents. Parents will probably have a good time here with their childrens. I have not seen all of it and left early as I felt like it wasn't meant for me but for kids. Therefore I gave a 3 / medium rating as I didn't saw everything. The place is wheelchair accessible and bad walkers, their is an elevator for those who needs it too. There are several staircases throughout the building and rooms each with their own display. Some rooms are harder to access for wheelchairs users. Make sure to visit this place if you have children or early teen with you!

It’s fun, educational, and designed to spark curiosity in a way that keeps kids entertained for hours. A fantastic day out and highly recommended!

This place was incredible- so interactive and creative. My 7 year old gave it 1000/10 and wanted to go round twice. Highly recommend and it’s free!!

This wonderful centre was a surprise gem that we came across during our stopover in Vejle. It's a really thought provoking experience done in a entertaining way as you explore the different zones. I'm so glad we went and the staff were super kind and helpful.

This prison museum was incredibly interesting and left a deep impression. I found every section engaging, with new and informative displays around each corner. The basement was the most impactful part for me — especially the photo of a former prisoner, which really stayed with me. Most of the written information is available in English, making it easy to follow along. However, the films are all in Danish, so keep that in mind if you don’t speak the language. Overall, a powerful and well-designed museum that I definitely recommend visiting.

It was okay but we had smaller children and it was not very interesting for them. The biker gang stuff, the contraband search game and the escape tunnel were good though and I would still recommend it if people have the time.

Faengslet as an event site has potential but it is cold everywhere. The atmosphere is authentic but low-key. We had a great event!

Amazing history museum in an old prison. It guides you through history of Danish penal system and engages you with stories of Danish criminal underground and increduble jailbreaks.

A nice stay. Extra plus for the good beds and superb bed lining. On the downside it smelled of mold in the sleeping area. The museum was a treat and the whole family enjoyed it.

♿ Entrance = Yes ♿ Parking = Yes ♿ Building = Yes ♿ Elevator = medium size There are many parking lots in front of the building where you can park and the entrance is big enough for wheelchair users. The main building has a souvenir area, AQUA and outside there are several animals and a massive playground. The Aqua building is a bit of a let down if you don't speak danish. Most of the floors are only in the danish language. The outside has like 19 different animals and every hour some of the animals are fed by the zookeeper's. They are also telling more about the backstory of the animal. The entire park is accessible by a wheelchair but the only thing you may want to keep in mind that the sand walking path can be soft at times beEventually you will come across a big water playground for the kids and I'm talking around the size of one animal place, which makes This place amazing for kids if they have swimming clothes. One thing I don't understand is why the snacks and the ice cream shop is only open on the weekend. They are missing out on a lot of money by having the shops closed because of the kids and the big playground. Most families have 2+ kids. They have free WIFI. I have seen everything in 3 hours but it may be possible for you to do less making it debatable if the entry price seems fair or a bit too expensive (especially if you don't understand the danish language in the AQUA)

It is not that big but the water play is very amazing. They called it a aquarium zoo but not much fish nor not much animal Instead the design for water plan is very nice, based on the environment of the beaver, which is the animal you see. Their website can improve on more info on English and also let parents know to bring bathing suits

Go on a sunny day if you have children — then it’s probably a 5-star place to be. Most of the park is outdoors, and they have a big playground, which is fantastic for kids. Everything is based around water mechanics, so bring some swimwear! Why it was a 3-star place for us: we don’t have children (yet), so we came for the animals and to learn something. In the aquarium, as a foreigner, you’ll need a good internet connection for Google Translate because everything is in Danish… The upper floor looked educational, but I had no idea what it was trying to tell me. I found one monitor that could switch to English, but it failed to load. Outside, there is some English on the signs, which helped a bit. The otter exhibit is so overgrown with vegetation that, with a bit of luck, we saw one — but it ran away immediately. The beaver exhibit was the best part! One of the beavers was swimming while the others, including a few babies, were sleeping — it looked really cozy! All the animals are native to Denmark, so don’t expect any fancy, bright-colored fish. There’s a small parking lot in front of the aquarium. You’ll need some luck to find a spot there.

This place is a hidden gem, especially for anyone interested in local Danish nature. The focus on fauna from the Gudenåen area is both educational and fascinating, and the otters, racoons and beavers are so cute. You can watch the otters being fed and hear how they get there. They also do rescue work and take care of otters needing help. The staff are friendly and welcoming. While the aquarium seems to cater mainly to families with young children, it’s just as enjoyable for adults visiting solo. The eel exhibit, in particular, is both intriguing and a little eerie, making it a standout experience. The location itself is stunning, set in a beautiful area perfect for a peaceful walk by the lakes and river afterward. It's well worth a visit!

Exhibit for the fish is a bit limited but combined with garden outside makes it worth coming here with children. Also there is a good walking trail along side the lake. Café Dråben is where its extremely disappointing. I dont think the fault is with the teenage girls doing the cooking but rather the ingredients and how the girls were taught to prepare food. One of the worst salads i ate in my life.

Amazing experience! Instead of going and seeing the standard 'zoo setup', use the experience to see what cute creatures and other animals are living in the forests, rivers here in Europe. Easy to get there, by car or train (I travelled from Aarhus by train). Tickets cost cheaper if bought online and I suggest visiting the centre in morning, around 10:00 then the animals haven't had their breakfast yet and are more active and visible. Timewise - and hour is enough, in case you are in rush, if not, then you can enjoy the park for longer time, there was a space dedicated for children and areas where you can sit down and rest for a while, if needed. Recommend!

Museum Jorn is a quiet and small museum. It can be an enjoyable stop for those interested in Asger Jorn’s style. Some of the works are quite interesting and unique, and overall, the museum has a different kind of atmosphere. If you have time in Silkeborg, it’s worth a visit.

Cool and reasonably sized museum. Both Jorn and other artists too. Great for kids, painting studio and a really nice playground just around the corner.

Beautiful museum and surroundings. Art collection ok. Go for the architecture and cafe, and then take a stroll in the park on the marina.
