Whale2Sea Andenes - Whale and Bird Watching - former Sea Safari Andenes

Whale watching tour agency
Outdoor Activities
Whale2Sea Andenes offers an unforgettable whale-watching experience, where visitors can witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. The tour provides the opportunity to see sperm whales and other marine life while following expert guidelines for a comfortable and safe journey. Guests have praised the knowledgeable guides, who are marine biologists, for their friendly and respectful approach towards the animals. Despite potential weather-related cancellations, many have been fortunate enough to embark on this remarkable adventure and witness these beautiful animals up close.
An amazing experience! We saw both orcas and sperm whales. The tour was very professionally organized, and our guide Jade was incredibly enthusiastic — easily the most passionate person you could hope for on a trip like this. She knew everything about whales and was happy to answer all our questions. The duration of the tour was just right, and we were provided with warm, professional suits that made the whole experience much more comfortable. Highly recommended!
Sjoerd L — Google review
We got lucky enough to see a group of pilot whales and a sperm whale in one single tour. This was amazing. Our guide and captain where competent, friendly, and made us feel safe. Amazing experience 🤩
Lucas D — Google review
Because of the determination of our guide and captain we were so lucky to see pilot whales, killer whales and cherry on top, a beautiful sperm whale just before his dive! What an amazing experience!
Yasmine X — Google review
We did the whale tour on the historical Reine boat. Saw two sperm whales! The trip was amazing, the hosts were very nice, helpful and specially enthusiastic about the whales. In every action you can see that these people also do the research and appreciate the animals: it's not your everyday tourist location, but an ethical hybrid between tours and science. We talked a lot with our German host Christina, cheers from Finland if you happen to see this! We loved her insights on the subject and also about living in the area. Since these are wild animals, there is of cource no guarantee that you see them every time you go. With this in mind, we were very lucky today and made unforgettable memories! -Adam

Be warned: you will get soaked. Whale2Sea Andenes (formerly Sea Safari Andenes) is not your average tourist boat ride—it's a full Arctic adventure. We got soaked to the bone, right down to our underwear. Even our amazing guide, Francocio, said he'd never been that wet before—and that’s saying something. Despite the weather, he stayed warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. You could see his passion for the whales in every word—and every one of his whale tattoos. The ride itself was bumpy, wild, and at times felt like we were holding on for dear life—but in the best way. The North Sea doesn’t hold back, especially if you're out on a windy day. If you're sitting at the front of the boat, prepare to get the full force of the spray. Swimminh Goggles wouldn’t be overkill. Seriously. Dress warm. Not “a jacket should be enough” warm—Arctic warm. Waterproof boots, thermal layers, and dry gloves are a must! Wellies or sturdy boots are your best bet unless you enjoy soggy cold socks. In the end, it was a tough, raw, and thrilling experience—an unforgettable way to see whales in their natural habitat. Cold, wet, and worth every second. Oh yeah, we saw a sperm whale.
Ben C — Google review
I did two different tours, both amazing experiences with passionate and knowledgeable guides and captains, all set up very well and worth every penny. The only thing missing for me was information about climate change and other human threats to marine ecosystems and cetacean habitats and migratory patterns. Perhaps the idea here is that people don’t pay this much money to be bummed out, but I think this kind of education is crucial and is the whole point to ecotourism, people are that much more receptive in such an awe-inspiring setting.
Leonie S — Google review
Great trip, we saw pilotwhales. Crew and service was excellent, everything was clear what to do, you get waterproof overfall suit and a life jacket. Remember to wear layered warm clothes, hat and gloves if not a hot summer day. Our guide Jesus told much Information about the whales and our captain Roni was also a very cool guy and an excellent driver. Some waves but the ride felt smooth. But prepare to get a bit wet 😅
Janne R — Google review
Amazing experience, we both went with the big boat and the rib. I recommend both. On the big boat we were lucky to see both pilotwhales and spermwhale. But when we went with rib we got much closer and we saw 4! Spermwhales very close.. Awesome experience!

Whalesafari Andenes

Whale watching tour agency
Outdoor Activities
Whalesafari Andenes offers an awe-inspiring experience of whale watching in the deep waters of the fjords in Northern Norway. Visitors have the chance to witness majestic whales and other wildlife such as puffins and orcas up close. The knowledgeable staff provides information throughout the tour, making it an educational experience. Additionally, visitors can enjoy amenities such as tea, coffee, soup, and bread on board.
Great experience! We had a great weather for whale watching and we actually saw many orcas. The thing with these kind of excursions is that you never know what you'll get. We were lucky and got the most of it - literally. Also, the crew is really nice, it seems like they know a lot about what they are doing and it was a pleasure listening to them. I truly recommend the trip, it's worth the money spent.
Blazka R — Google review
An unforgettable experience with Whale Safari Andenes! Everything was incredibly well organized, and the guides and crew were professional, friendly, and passionate. The whales were located quickly by sound, and the boat was positioned at a safe but exciting distance – the views were absolutely breathtaking. We were on a slightly larger boat, which was stable and comfortable, even for families. Onboard, we were served warm soup, coffee, tea, and biscuits – creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
Jari U — Google review
What an experience! If you're thinking about doing this just do it! We were supposed to go out on the Thursday but the forecast wasn't looking favourable so the staff got in touch and moved us to the Friday morning instead. We went out at 9am with Sam on a Rhib boat, we were given a water resistant suit and a life jacket and off we went, he was very knowledgeable and we managed to see a few sperm whales, there's a not a question he didn't answer. I think the smaller boat is better it seems to be able to respond quicker to sightings by the other boats out at sea which gives you better chances I guess. Honesty had such an amazing time and we went to the lecture in the cafe in the evening too which was by Sean (I think) that was also fantastic. Thank you to everyone who made it a great experience. We'll be back!
Jamie M — Google review
Fun little museum. Could do with some paint to freshen up what is the basement to match the updates which is nice and new. Great facility to use before heading out on your whale wachcing trip.
Ben C — Google review
I joined the whale watching tour on the historic boat Reine and really enjoyed it! The weather was perfect and the sea relatively calm. However, if you are sensible for motion sickness you should not book a tour. The swell is different in a harbour or on a beach than the swell several kilometers out on the sea. Some people still had to use the vomit bag. One incredible thing to point out is the crew: there were several guides on the boat speaking Norwegian, English, German and Spanish and informing you about everything you need to know about whales, dolphins and birds! The captain did a good job in maneuvering the boat in a way that we could have a nice view on the sperm whales without disturbing them to much. Also, make sure that you stay for the free „whale lecture“ at 6 PM! You will learn a lot from an experienced researcher.

As I was travelling in the north of Norway visiting the beautiful Islands Arte the Lofuten -our guide took us to a trip to see the whale in Andenes - first we visited the very interesting museum gathering various species then we travelled to the arctic sea and got the chance to see 3 different sperm whales - it was a great trip worth a visit …
Eva P — Google review
We did do this tour in the mist, on the Juli 13th. It was disappointing as we did chase a whale for about 2 hours, and the tour guide could not give so much information other than what was on a sign / board.
Vincent M — Google review
Did the snorkeling tour with them and was not great, do not recommend as there are other options. They would not get close to the whales while other companies do. While others would keep following the some group of whales and jumped in 10-15 times in the exact same day and time our tour was able to get in the water 4 times only.

Andøymuseet

Museum
Specialty Museums
The Andøymuseet offers a glimpse into the rich history of the island, showcasing various aspects such as the region's only dinosaur discovery in northern Europe, the mysterious disappearance of Haugenes village, and the Pomor trade that flourished between Northern Norway and Russia. Additionally, visitors can learn about Hilmar Nois, a renowned trapper whose legend prevails. While exploring this fascinating museum, one must also be alert for polar bears.
So cozy museum and pleasant staff. Here you can get good coffe and delicius vaffles with strawberry jam. Visit the lighthouse was amazing experience, the staff told us about history, great! Thank you.
Aneta K — Google review
It was cloudy so we didn't pay to go up the tower, but if the weather was nice we would have as I am sure the view would have been nice. The cafe and souvenir shop was nice too and the staff were really pleasant. It was a good place for a pit stop driving through.
Ann M — Google review
Nice very small museum. Be careful entry fee is 50nok. My wife swears the young lad asked for 400nok for the 2 of us. I think she may have misheard him. Just be sure to only pay 50nok if you want to visit.

Andøy Museum shows an excerpt of the island's history. Here you can see the only dinosaur found in northern Europe, the story of the village Haugenes that disappeared, the Pomor trade between Northern Norway and Russia and the story of the legendary trapper Hilmar Nøis. Watch out!!!! Here is a polar bear! Also you cab climb the 147 steps of the famous Lighthouse

Spaceship Aurora

Visitor center
Museums
Nestled just a kilometer south of the town entrance on the way to Bleik, Spaceship Aurora is an exciting destination for space enthusiasts and families alike. This innovative center features a captivating 16-minute widescreen film that delves into the mesmerizing aurora borealis and highlights Norway's significant contributions to space research.
Fun experience. The first place I've seen fully utilizing the fact that pretty much everyone has a smart phone, sincethe audio guide is simply a webpage. It's very comfortable to use your own headset and phone to add to the exhibition. Without the audioguide it would have maybe been a bit too little. Despite the size of the exhibition it is good and very interactive. The films were very good. I found the two first to be more interesting than the last. So you can consider leaving after the first two.
Joakim S — Google review
I got a bit disappointed by the fact many exhibition items were malfunctioning or not working at all, and by the unsurprising technology shown here. I mean this is a space center after all... Also like other said, the price for the entrance is just bonkers. My kids 2 and 4 had a great time in the interactive climbing wall though. (I hope this is a constructive feedback, Andoya Space)
Ricardo M — Google review
Way to expensive price to do «the trip to Mars» and it’s for kids. Not war I was expecting at all from this «museum».
Thomas T — Google review
Very nice place to visit, especially with kids.
Stanislav L — Google review
Paid 625 NOK for two adults and a kid to see what felt like the world’s tiniest museum and a short movie about the Northern Lights. Blink and you’ve seen it all. If you’re hoping for an epic aurora adventure, this isn’t it—unless your idea of excitement is squinting at a few displays and wondering where the rest of the place went. Save your kroner for something that lasts longer than your coffee break.
Eric H — Google review
VR experience is very fun, as well as the exhibition. Different pedagogical activities to play with. Very nice moment.
Pierrick M — Google review
I got an welcome of a weird smell not sure what it was do not want to know that it was. We bought tickets that was way overpriced. We bought the travel to mars tickets 400nok for one ADULT! And 225nok for an child. (9-16) there was some uniforms in shitty condition. Sure the training was sort of fun but not really. When we came into the spaceship there were seats with seatbelts. I thought there was gonna be some vibration or get thrown. But no why is there seatbelts then? And then came the last room. You got some vr's mine was a little bit destroyed but still worked. You controlled sone robots surprisingly that was the best place to be. Would I come back? No if you have kids under 9 they could have fun but no. Was it worth it? No there is nothing special there you can learn it on YouTube or search it up on Google. The rating is really bad you should step up your game with this. Or lower the price. Waste of time and money.
Gabrielius D — Google review
Was so Lucky to get a hold of a family ticket with the Mission to Mars and all 5 of us were fully entertained by our roles on the spaceship. Kids were loving it!

Boat Tours
Wow! What a trip and a must do. We wanted to see the puffins, and boy did we see them. There were 1000s of them on the water, taking flight, flying by & above and diving. We also saw 11 eagles soaring above the island waiting for a takeaway. Unfortunately the eagles have 2 takeaway puffins a day. There are 50000 pairs on the island or out fishing during the 4 month breeding season. You go out on an old small fishing boat. The skipper and guide have been doing it for 25 years so they really know their stuff about the puffins and the island. Even though the conditions were windy and rough the skipper did a really good job to get us up close to the puffins and the island. The boat only takes 12 therefore you need to book your ticket through their website in advance.
Simon R — Google review
Lucked out with excellent weather. The crew was awesome and informative. The birds are amazing. Wish I had the right camera equipment! The weather changed rapidly as we came in. Amazing experience to see the birds and the weather!
Les L — Google review
Can highly recomment, despite not so perfect weather conditions, it was absolutely worthwhile going out on the boat. The tour started exactly on time, Peter gave very good information about the Puffins and all other birds, the captain did a very good job keeping the boat a steady as possible. Thank you for the great experience.
Bab D — Google review
We had a wonderful time, and it was one of the highlights of our trip for sure. The guide was so knowledgeable and gave some really interesting facts and the captain was also so lovely! The sea was a bit rough on the way to the island meaning we only managed to take pictures with one hand but who needs pictures! :) cute, cute puffins and majestic eagles galore :) the memories are forever in our minds. To top it up my granddaughter who was celebrating her 8th birthday (this was one of her presents by choice) got a book with beautiful pictures of all these lovely creatures :)
Maria A — Google review
What a great adventure, thank you! The guide was really nice, together with the captain of the ship they took us to the Bleik søya. That is the mountain where all the puffins are nesting. 50.000 pairs, so 100.000 bird are nesting on this mountain! What an nice view and experience. The Sea eagles we could easily spot, they eat the Puffins as they like them so much… there is a book with pictures you can buy, I would recommend that and just enjoy the safari, the book has way better pictures then you can make. See the last e pictures.
Vincent M — Google review
Review: Puffin Safari – A Flappin’ Good Time We picked the sunniest day for our puffin safari—because let’s face it, even seabird fans need to soak up some rays before soaking in puffin facts. The captain, who looked suspiciously like my old headmaster, Mr. Bonfeild—cheerful, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly loved what he did. That goes for both my teacher and the captain. He navigated the waters with ease and a good sense of humour. Safe to say, he passed with flying colours. (Puffin pun) Our guide, Linea, was fantastic too— informative and quick to point out puffins, eagles, and other local birdlife. The puffins were absolute stars—bobbing, diving, and flapping about like they owned the place. Honestly, they were beak performance artists. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we were served fresh cod, with a postcard-worthy beach as the backdrop. It was a true cod classic moment. In short: birds, sun, sea, smiles—this tour was the real squawk of the town. Highly recommend if you want to feel puffinately delighted by nature.
Ben C — Google review
It was a great experience, the captain and the guide were very kind and knowledgeable. We talked with the captain about the differences of our countries and he was really interested and we appreciated it. We saw many puffins, eagles and other birds. To have an even greater experience we suggest to go after 16/17.
Pier B — Google review
Great cruise! We saw many different birds. Not only great puffins, but also eagles, cormorants, seagulls, oystercatchers, guillemots and birds attacking puffins to get fish. The guide and the captain were great. They know a lot about birds, and the island. They showed us different parts of islands. We really had great time! Higly recommend this puffin safari 😃

Nestled in the charming village of Dverberg, Alveland AS, affectionately known as 'Elf Land,' is a delightful shop and café that beckons travelers with its warm ambiance and unique offerings. This hidden gem specializes in natural products, featuring an impressive array of handmade soaps that make for perfect gifts. The café serves up scrumptious treats like freshly baked cinnamon buns and the renowned Norwegian Suksessterte, which has garnered rave reviews for its delectable taste.
We stopped here for a quick break and we tried their fresh out of the oven cinnamon roll which was really delicious! The owners are really friendly and welcoming, they also have a small shop with local products. Prices are very reasonable for the region. The setting is warm and cosy as well. A mandatory stop if you drive by!

The shop is a bit hidden, but once you find it, it’s truly a delight. Lovingly and beautifully decorated. :) The pastries are a dream! The best cinnamon roll I’ve had in a long time – you can really taste how fresh it is. We got it straight from the oven, still warm and incredibly fresh. Highly recommended!

A very good story about SAMI people trough the years, no matter what they will stay united, a reineer soup and walking with the reineers was perfect! THANKS

We had lots of fun at the farm and the owners are caring a lot about their reindeers. Our Guide told us many stories about the saami culture and sang beautiful traditional songs as well as a saami style happy birthday for a friend of me. Thanks for the great experience!
Henning K — Google review
Super lovely and friendly owner. We came there quite early, and she offered for us to wait until the guided tour and feeding of the reindeers started, but we unfortunately couldn't wait as we also had a boat tour booked in Bleik. Reindeers look lovely though and there are two very cute dogs on the property. Don't make the same mistake as us and allow enough time to get the full experience there!!

(Translated by Google) In search of fresh fish or crabs we went to the tourist information center. There they circled 2 shopping centers for us on a city map. The lady said we should try it there. Apparently she meant the supermarkets. However, we thought more of a fish shop or a stand that sells fish sandwiches or fish from the ship. In the supermarket, an employee said that people probably don't eat crabs here, only in the south. We left disappointed. The lady at the tourist information office could have explained this to us in more detail. It's a real shame, they have the sea on their doorstep and it's so difficult to get fresh seafood. Very disappointing here.

Whale watching tour agency

Dolphin & Whale Watching
The best tour operator for whale and orca safaris. A comfortable boat and the best captain. Relevant and humorous commentary. An attentive crew and, most importantly, the assurance of seeing marine animals in their natural habitat. A must. I recommend them without reservation.
Seb M — Google review
Truly an unforgettable experience ! Great marine biologists that explain everything, we saw a lot of orcas and mink whales, we were in awe of the amazing encounters. Bonus : you help protect the animals in the area by doing whale safaris! It was worth every cent!
Pauline R — Google review
I was curious to explore Stø and see some whales. One thing to note is that they only do the tour if 20 people have signed up. Furthermore, on the day we were to depart from Stø, the boat would not start and they could not fix it after two hours. Since the weather was amazing, the company was kind enough to rebook us to Andenes for later in the day and we finally had an incredible Orca whale show after nearly six hours of sailing on the fjord under the midnight sun. I would highly recommend this company due to their commitment to making sure that you get to see whales on your safari. I would encourage others to make flexible travel plans and reach out to them by email as you cannot be certain of exactly how the day will unfold. One thing is to be sure, it will be an adventure of a lifetime!!

We had a really amazing day yesterday! The weather was great and the brief before we started was very informative. We started off the safari with many minke whales, which was incredible to see. Eventually we saw a big group of orcas, which stayed for a while around our boat. Remi, the guide said there were around 3 pods at the same time which was super cool. Such a great gift from nature to see these incredible animals in the wild, playing and communicating with each other. Also the staff was super friendly and gave a lot of nice info about everything that we saw during our safari. Thanks a lot for the great day!
Lotte H — Google review
Had a really nice experience. Nice to be on the boat for a day. To see Mink whales, dolphins, artic puffins and sea Eagles. We did not see the big whales unfortunately. However, the crew did their absolute best to find some for us. We stayed on the sea for about 9 hours. The crew was enthusiastic and could tell us a lot about the whales! So all with all, did see whales, the crew was nice and good and had a really good experience!
Luuk H — Google review
Everything was perfect from the start, the sun, the crew, the pilot whales around the boat… until the crew decides that it was over after less than 4h, we knew nothing about that, we just end up before 2pm on the deck again. I do not recommend the lack of honesty of this company as it’s written everywhere that you’re supposed to come back around 4-6 pm. No effort also for everyone wondering what’s happening; we just have to « speak to the manager ». (Rémi and Eva were super nice btw)
Katell C — Google review
Scam during summertime. All you get to see are some large dolphin species called pilot whales. The larger whales like spermwhales, orka's or humpbacks, feed only in the arctic sea from end oktober untill march. During the summer they live in the mediterranean area. In the end they tell you that you have seen (pilot) whales so the 'whale guaranty' does not apply. We felt pretty ripped-off as we left the ship after 3-4 hours.
Coert S — Google review
We had an amazing experience. The whales were eating and hunting the herring, amazing to see. Also saw loads of Orcas. Captain was very skilled, it was super windy yesterday. Would definitely recommend this boat, friendly staff and felt like they respected the animals. Thanks again for a lovely day!

We bought tickets for 2 in advance. It was a really cool experience! The tour of the museum included a VR experience. We then went out on speedboat to the fish farms, and came back to enjoy smoked salmon, biscuit and tea in a candlelit shack. Waterproof jacket, boots, gloves, and life vest are provided for the boat ride. Don’t follow google maps directions to the place - go straight instead of turning right into the tiny bridge. Turn right further down on the second bridge.

Enjoyed the boat tour - the guided exhibition - the tasting - the VR exhibition (with a movie in French our mother tongue). We were only 5 visitors on that afternoon so we enjoyed very much this "private" tour ! We recommend it !

Dronningruta hike

Mentioned on

Hiking area
Outdoor Activities
Dronningruta hike, also known as the Queens Route, offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for hikers in Norway. The trail provides stunning views but can be more intense than expected, especially on sunny days. Starting from the main point near a restaurant, hikers can enjoy beautiful scenery along mountainous paths and serene sea trails. The hike takes about 7 hours with food breaks and photo stops, offering breathtaking views of the coast and offshore islands.
Beautiful scenery! From Nyksund to Stø we took mountainous half of the hike and stopped in Stø to refill energy with some fish soup and coffee. From Stø to Nyksund along the sea path with a stopover to enjoy the beach and cold waters of Norwegian Sea! Every minute worthwhile itself!
Eloradan K — Google review
Great hike, but it’s heavier and more intense than expected. We did the Dronningruta hike (Queens Route) in August on a very sunny day and the views are stunning but the climb is a lot harder. We started the hike from the main starting point which is across a restaurant. If there’s no parking spots available, try and park on the side of the road. Do not drive down and park on the paying parking unless its absolutely necessary. (All information is in Norwegian and paying is difficult for foreigners with rental cars) After 10km you will be close to a small campsite with a small cafe and some cool graffiti. After that continue via the beach and prepare for a very steep climb back to the starting point. It’s a very intense hike but worth it and great prep for the Kings route!

Nestled conveniently between the E6 highway and the ferry route to Lofoten Islands, the Knut Hamsun Centre is an essential stop for literary enthusiasts. This museum stands out not only for its tribute to Nobel Prize-winning author Knut Hamsun but also for its striking contemporary architecture that captures the essence of northern Norway's design landscape. Visitors can explore well-curated exhibits detailing Hamsun's life and works, with friendly staff eager to share insights about his literary contributions.
For a place based on a writer, words are important so here are a few- wonderful, inspiring, creative, challenging, conflicting, political, historical, engaging, unmissable, bold. We loved the architectural tour and left with a free poster 😎 Highly recommended.

This is the best museum I’ve ever been to that’s based on a writer. If you haven’t ever read Hamsun, this will make you want to read Hamsun. The staff are also super friendly and incredibly willing to answer any questions you may have.

Norwegian Coastal Express Museum

Specialty Museums
The Norwegian Coastal Express Museum offers a unique experience for maritime enthusiasts and history buffs. Visitors can explore a complete former postal ship, gaining insight into the daily life aboard these iconic vessels. The museum features tours of a 1956 passenger ship, providing a glimpse into the past for all ages. With physical interactions and digital displays, it offers an engaging experience, including archival insights into the first passengers' experiences and the accommodation of captains and crews.
This is the Hurtigrute Museum in Stokmarknes, Norway. It's an amazing museum. It's as if the museum was built around the ship. What I like most about this ship is that you can go directly into different rooms instead of viewing through glass. Many rooms that you wouldn't ordinarily see are open. Highly recommend.
Beverly ( — Google review
An absolute must see - either if you have any interest at all in this essential part of Norway’s history, development and transportation OR if you just want to experience one of the most fantastic museum experiences! A ship in a bottle!! (Well in an amazing glass walled building!). One man’s dream has turned into one of the ‘must sees’ in Norway. Absolute superb presentation & information provision, with wonderfully passionate & helpful staff. What is also amazing about the museum is that 1 in 4 of the island’s population have annual tickets so it has also started to become the community hub, especially with it’s evocative coffee shop & cafe on board the ship itself. And no you can’t possibly do it justice if you only have 45 minutes in port! The last few reviews seem to miss the point. This would be a wonderful sight to see (a huge vessel in an amazing building) for even 5 minutes but you really need 2-3 hours to take in the whole story. And, to correct the last reviewer, every information board is in Norwegian, English AND German. It was an inspired move to encase this beautifully restored vessel in glass & huge thanks must be given to the dreamers & tenacious persisters who have made this possible - and the amazing team of volunteers who still turn up every day to keep everything ship shape. THANK YOU
Mike D — Google review
The museum is unuseable for a visit with a 45-minute stop on a Hurtigruten ship. There should be a signposted tour with distance and progress information that one could follow quickly. Only then would you have a good sense of seeing a lot and of reaching the exit in a defined manner. There's a lot to see on and in the historic ship that I would have liked to examine more closely without having to wonder how to get there and back without ending up in a dead end.
W. L — Google review
Excellent museum and a must do when you are in Norway, even if you are not a ship person. We have sailed on the Hurtigruten new and the old ships, so to be able to go around all of the 1956 built ship was amazing. We even managed to find the cabin in 3rd class where we had our first trip. There is a lot of information available on the ship and part of the steam ship lounges from early 1900s. They also give the story of how they saved the Finnmarken ship and the long process to build the stunning glass building that surrounds it.
Simon R — Google review
Amazing! Went in on a rainy day but definetely worth visiting if you want to learn about one of the Norways most important mean of transportation - the coastal express. Interactive, informative and interesting. Better than the Amundsen museum in Oslo
Frantisek C — Google review
Quick and impressive way to learn about Hurtigruten and coastal transport development. We particularly like cafe on board, and the backstory of how community effort fostered the museum. The furnishings are authentic and well preserved. There is no glass that restrict visitor access and you can enter most rooms and feel the vibes! Go around 1pm and you might spot active hurtigtruten ferries moor on the quay beside the museum. Glad to see such fabulous piece of local history be preserved so well.
Wong B — Google review
This museum is time travel at it's finest. Really takes you back to being a passenger on MS Finnmarken in it's glory days! You get to explore the ships exterior and interior in full detail without much restrictions, as sadly is the case with most other museums of this type. Full access to the most of the ship! Even the resturant in the ship serves the kind of traditional Norwegian food you would expect in 1956. Highly recommend a visit to anyone who would like to experience this Norwegian coastal liner the way it used to be!
Erik-André H — Google review
Very nice museum. You could see both the outside and inside of the ship. It was very small inside so I would revomend not going if claustrophobic. Good sighs everywhere absolut the board history. You could read in norweigan, english and german.

Sea eagle safari - May ‘25 Wow wow wow!! Brilliant trip - we saw a lot of eagles but more than that the guide was great with local knowledge and seeing Trollfjord from a rib was stunning. If you get chance book it…don’t think twice!

Loved it! Never done anything like it before and was apprehensive about being out at sea for 4 hours. However, it was great. Friendly knowledgeable crew and plenty of fish to be had. For two adults and two older teenage kids it really worked. Boat wasn’t overcrowded. Definitely recommend. Nice good staff back at office too.

Lofoten Explorer AS is a sightseeing tour agency that takes visitors on a trollfjord and sea eagle safari tour. The outfit can be a little strange at first, but once the boat starts moving it all makes sense. The scenery of Lofoten is amazing and the tour was very informative. My six-year-old daughter had a great time too.
I booked "Sea Eagle RIB Safari" on 07/17/2023. Company : Lofoten Explorer Price : 1,090 nok I took the speed boat and saw eagles. It's good experience and activity.^^

Did Trollfjord and eagle tour. Was very cold but clear, but the gear they give you kept us rugged up. Tour was amazing, lots of grey action shots of white tailed eagles swooping in to feed, and a beautiful little fjord. Highly recommend.

Nice trip to the Trollfjord with multiple stops to view eagles. Good opportunities to see the eagles from close by. Friendly shipper which gave good explanations..

Very good experience! We had a great sea eagle trip — there was enough time to stop and take photos, and we saw many eagles today. The guide also gave us explanations along the way. On the way back, we even saw orcas! The guide kindly stopped the boat so we could fully enjoy watching them before heading back. Such a wonderful person!

If you’re looking for something fun to do for a couple of hours, I’d definitely recommend this. The guide was awesome—he managed the boat like a pro while keeping us entertained with amazing stories, like the one about Troll Mountain.
NNP_NUT — Google review
My experience with Lofoten Explorer was good. I did the Eagles safari and Trollfjord. The best moment was to see Eagles in wild state. Trollfjord is OK but it was not amazing for me. The views during route on the speed boat were wonderful all time. The clothes, which they borrow you, is very good for cold and wind. I suggest to wear thermal socks and good shoes for cold and wind. The staff was friendly, but I could not listen very good the explanations of guide during activity because of noise. The total time is 2,5h. The speed boat stops in different places to see eagles. The speed boat is safety. I recommend to do this activity if you want to see Eagles catching fishes and beautiful views. I will not repeat this activity because one time is enough to me and it is cost too much money.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. It was fast and fun, but also safe. We watched the eagles feed and visited the Trollfjord. I would highly recommend this trip.

Great experience! We saw so many sea eagles! The place was well equipped with waterproof suits, gloves and goggles, so you are warm during the trip. The guides were engaging. Highly recommended!

Lofoten Lights

Tour operator
Tours
Lofoten Lights offers an authentic Scandinavian experience in the Lofoten Archipelago with a 4-day tour including an Aurora Chase, guided tour, RIB boat tour, and accommodation in a traditional fisherman's cabin. Another option is the Tromso Wildlife & Northern Lights package which includes a wildlife cruise and northern lights hunt. Additionally, private tours are available for those interested in flexible and personalized experiences.
We love our private tour with Maurizio from Svolvaer to Å. The tour is very flexible, fun, and humorous... Yet knowledgeable. Lofoten light also provided us with tips and location to visit for our self-guide since their tour was sold out for one we are interested in. He also told us locations for northern light, but unfortunately the weather was not good even though the KP level was high in 4. He suggested we didn't get the car for that day.

Great tour and great price with pick up at Cruise Port, Leknes, Norway. The bus was clean, comfortable, and not overcrowded. We traveled along the roadway, crossing through the many tunnels, making stops along the way. ( not in order) A pronounced O, Reine, Ramberg. The white sand beaches were truly amazing with clear turquoise waters. There was also a surf beach we drove by. Although there were no breaking waves, it was equally stunning. Lots of overnight campers enjoying breakfast and the beautiful area. The many villages, churches, and stunning beauty of picturesque Norway came to life right before or eyes. Amazing!! The gentleman tour guide provides a wonderful narrative throughout the tour. Our bus driver kept us safe throughout the day as some areas were crowded. Highly recommend this tour company!

We booked 2 day private tour of the island. It was a fantastic way to experience the beautiful Island. We had Vera as our guide. She is absolutely phenomenal! She has a great personality and is very knowledgeable. She took us to very picturesque spots and we had a lovely time touring the island with her. Also wanted to thank Claudia and Eleonora for helping me to plan my itinerary. Thank you!

Had an amazing 2-day tour with our wonderful guide Lena, sharing her knowledge in an interesting & at times, humorous way of the places she brought us. The owners Claudia & Maurizio are wonderful too, would definitely recommend them if you ever pay a visit to Svolvær.

We joined two days tour covering south and “north” islands. Eric from German was our guide, he was very knowledgeable, friendly, approachable, and provided his best to help us during the trip! Eric is definite our recommended guide !

I took the North Lofoten Top Highlights Photo Tour today and it was fantastic. Andrea, our tour guide is very knowledgeable about the places we visited. The views were just stunning. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to explore the Lofoten Island and in a very limited time. I will take the tour again the next timeI visit Lofoten.

My husband and I booked the Svolvær South of Lofton Photo tour. We had a blast learning about the island and going to the most picturesque places to take photos. Our tour guide, Vera was amazing and we can not say enough about her insight and conversation while driving between points. We would definitely recommend and if you get Vera you will have a great time, we sure did!

Incredible experience. My tour guide Eliza was very knowledgeable and showed us all the little gems. The one on one interaction with the small groups makes them all the more to book with again!

Embark on the Trollfjord Cruise, a 5.5-hour journey that offers a picturesque cruise through the stunning fjord and an exciting kayaking experience guided by knowledgeable experts. The cruise takes you to Skrova Island for a memorable kayaking adventure before returning to Svolvaer. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced kayaker, this trip welcomes all skill levels.
My Parents and I did the Classic Sea Eagle Tour. It was so much fun also to have nice warm soup on the Boat and tea or Coffee. The Seagulls Followed our boat too and the Troll Area was fun too but look closely at the Rocks how that place got its name. I was Lucky to see the Sea Eagles around the troll area and a couple of nests are there you can sit outside or on a Rainy day inside the boat with lots of seats and some Tables. My dad caught a Fish I thought I almost had one as I thought I felt tugging but unfortunately it didn't clap on the hook and swam away but it was a nice try. It was a very Enjoyable tour. When we booked it in advance one of the guides was Even there who called our names. You have a choice of tours but the Classic one I did Really Enjoy and hope Tourist's will try and enjoy that one I Recommend.

The silent Trollfjord cruise was a delight! Saw many see eagles, the views were magic, the information provided was interesting and informative, the pre-ordered hot sou- was a great addition! It was an afternoon cruise and we reached Trollfjord (which takes almost 2 hours to reach) we were the only ship there and it is there when the boat switches to a quiet electric power. Highly recommend!
Dmitri N — Google review
One of the best fjord tours I've been on. The people running it were also super enthusiastic and big lovers of wildlife conservation which I heavily respect and relate to.

Try to do this cruise if visiting Lofoten islands. Make reservations once you are certain of the weather on the particular day you are picking - make sure it’s sunny as on a cloudy/rainy/snowy day the mountains and islands are not visible :( We were lucky to get great weather and the cruise was absolutely worth the money and spending 3 hours. It’s not choppy or uncomfortable (for people who have motion or other sickness), it’s silent and very smooth. Extremely beautiful views throughout- it was like a series of countless picture postcards ! Wasn’t windy and we could stand outside and take pictures as well as sat inside. They offer refreshments on the cruise for people to purchase. There were 2 marine biologists on board - one local from Norway and one from Australia - both very knowledgeable and shared their views and wisdom on marine life throughout. In the last 30 minutes or so, they dropped a drone in the water and showed sea kelp forest, sea urchins and other local Norwegian marine life. It was fun overall and well worth the time & money!

Cat cruise. I’d recommend a seat closer to front of the boat. Interesting commentary along the way. Light drinks on board. Boat was very stable.

I did Classic Sea Eagle Tour and I really enjoyed it. The giude was very nice and calm. He was very attentive to people's needs and shared some fun facts about the place with us. We saw eagles and I managed to take some awesome photos of them. We had tasty soup on board, as well as coffee, tea and snacks. The day was rainy, but it wasn't a problem at all. Thank you, guys!

Magic Ice Lofoten is located in a former fish-freezing plant and offers a unique experience with its 500-square-meter space filled with impressive ice sculptures depicting life in Lofoten. Visitors are provided with warm clothing and a drink in an ice glass upon admission. The bar's staff is known for their friendliness, and guests have praised the talented sculptor from Lithuania who serves drinks.
Stumbled upon this fun place on a July Havila cruise stop and glad we did! -5 centigrade met us with a blast of cold air (coats and gloves provided). A cold cocktail provided, and ice sculptures and an ice slide rounded out the exploration. About 20 euro admission each, which seemed steep at entrance but we laughed and chilled our way through it. Maybe stayed 30 minutes max (my partner insists it was only 15 before we were bone cold!). Hindsight says it was well worth it. Good memories.

We had so much fun. The bartender/ barman from Rome was really friendly and helpful! You have to try the ice slide. Fascinating ice sculptures related to runic mythology. Excellent alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with a variety of flavors, sitting at ice tables on warm furs! I chose apple and cinnamon, and it was fantastic in the ice glass. We took lots of photos. About €25 per person, but well spent. A unique experience!

Great ice bar, entrance includes drink gloves and jacket (returned). Staff are super friendly and helpful. There is a great slippery dip. Loved it, totally worth going. Don’t miss it if you are in town
Donna G — Google review
What an excellent find! We had 30 minutes in the port and this was ideal. Three minutes walk from where our boat docked. Excellent and very welcoming staff. Incredible ice sculptures in a permanently frozen warehouse. They provide extra warm capes. The 200 NKR admission fee includes a cloudberry wine drink served in a cup made of ice. The floor is easy to walk on, not slippy. The sculptures are Nordic themed. Be careful if climbing onto the slide or the throne (both permitted) as they are obviously incredibly slippery. ♿️ Accessibility seemed easy, wide entrance, all on one level and plenty of manoeuvring space. Once again very good find with incredibly welcoming staff. Late opening hours to suit ship’s arrivals!

It is a tourist trap, but a good one. If you never been to a place like that it’s worth paying $30 pp (including a drink). When we went it was pretty empty, it was nice to have place to ourselves. Spent there probably only 15 minutes there but the experience was pretty cool!
Dmitri N — Google review
You put on a poncho and gloves and enter a hall cooled down to -7 Degree Celsius. A drink within an ice-cup is included as well. Big and impressive sculptures!!! Very nice experience! Thank you very much!

The town of Svolvaer is on the Lofoten Island of Norway . It is a very beautiful and touristy place with lots of sightseeing , hiking , seafood and ferry to Norway mainland . Enjoyed the visit there and beautiful Marina with five star restaurants .

It’s touristy. The sculptures were numerous and some pretty well. The bar serves drinks in an ice cup. A little pricey for what it is but interesting, especially if you have never been to an ice bar.

The Lofoten War Memorial Museum, also known as Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum, houses a diverse collection of civilian and military memorabilia from World War II. The museum showcases uniforms, weapons, literature, and intriguing items such as a lamp from the battleship Tirpitz and Eva Braun's handbag.
Museum of the second world war with an amazing collection of uniforms, weapons, books, photographs. It's amazing that the museum was created by one person. It was fantastically interesting I want to return to this museum Despite the fact that the fighting took place on the Lofoten Islands this museum contains photographs of Ukraine girls who took part in the fighting Be sure to leave time to visit this museum

A powerful and moving experience. This World War II museum offers an incredibly well-curated and informative journey through one of the most important periods of modern history. The exhibits are rich with authentic artifacts, personal stories, and multimedia presentations that make the past feel very real and present. I was particularly impressed by the thoughtful layout and the emotional impact of the survivor testimonies. It’s a place that invites reflection and helps you understand the human cost and complexity of war. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, education, or simply gaining a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made during WWII. A must-visit.

A great little museum with tons of stuff packed into a small place, and some very interesting artefacts. Perhaps a bit of an over emphasis on the Waffen SS, but plenty of stuff on other branches off the German armed forces as well as other nationalities involved in the war in Norway.
Martin R — Google review
A hidden gem in the north! This collection is truly impressive - a wealth of information alongside historical artifacts. The museum is a great way to spend an hour or so if you have any history-lovers in your party. You'll leave with a better understanding of how the war impacted Norway and the part that Northern Norway played.
Beau O — Google review
Museum with a lot of uniforms and other items. A lot (but not all) texts are translated to English, German and sometimes French. This museum also covers some aspects of World War II that are sometimes forgotten when viewing the large picture. This place is worth a visit if you are interested in this part of world history!

Just an immense collection by one extremely charming man, our visit was short but extremely memorable, recommended
Andy F — Google review
Amazing experience to see all these WW2 relics displayed. There are German, Russian, Norwegian, Danish, American and others on display. Weapons are real and not replicated, most are in good condition and you can see a lot of details on them. If you have the chance to go, do yourself the favor!
Kristoffer B — Google review
Not the largest of museums, But has a greater impact than many more prestigious ones I have been to!. The museum is the collection of one man and that makes it even more impressive!. Walls, ceiling and cabinets are crammed with history, not just of counties but of the people. Very moving. Time and money well spent.

Yesterday we joined Jann to see the Northern Lights and it was an absolutely amazing experience! Not only Jann is extremely knowledgeable but also he is very funny which makes the trip even better. He took us to different places to see the lights and told us historical facts about Svolvaer. He also taught me the best way to capture the Northern Lights with my camera which I really appreciate! Jann you’re an absolute star!!

We went on a Northern light trip organised as part of a package from staying at Svinoya. Jan took us out, gave us history and facts about Lofoten Islands. He was determined to help us see the lights, using satellite weather information to find gaps in the cloud, to drive to the right place and the result was exceptional.

I did a 2-day kayaking course for beginners (NPF Basics WetCard) in July 2024, and had fantastic experience with Lofoten Aktiv. Even before the course started, communication from the owner was great both online and over the phone. The course itself was fantastic. Odd and Eilif are both brilliant instructors - super patient, and also really fun to learn from! They both made me feel completely safe even as we learned more advanced techniques and started doing more challenging maneuvers out on the open water. The whole course was a great way to build my skills - and also fall in love with sea kayaking!
