One among the finest beaches nearby Kochi (Cochin). The sandy beach and great sunset views would give you memorable moments. There are foods and souvenirs available here but there is a good scope for improvement.

What didn’t work well: Parking charged at around ₹30/hour without designated slots or secure fencing. I had to park in mud and struggled to exit—a guard set the fee, but no proper system or shelter. The beach area is tight and congested, especially during evenings. Space to walk, sit, or play is limited. The shoreline has noticeably narrowed—sea erosion seems to have taken over the sand, reducing usable area. Waste and debris are common, especially after high tides. There’s no visible cleaning schedule or waste management system. Few signboards or markers to guide visitors on safe zones, entry points, or amenities. Numerous resorts and restaurants line the edge, but prices are high, making the experience feel more commercial than relaxing. Safety feels uneven—lifeguards are present only at the main beach, leaving parts of the shore less monitored. The narrow access roads are often crowded or uneven, making approach and exit difficult. Positive aspects to highlight: The location is scenic—where backwaters meet the sea; gentle tides often make it suitable for dolphin spotting. Early mornings and off-peak hours offer calm, peaceful views and a quieter stretch to enjoy. A few local vendors sell light bites such as fried banana or chilli—simple and tasty. Suggestions for improvement: Create organized, secure parking with shade or paved surfaces—and consider validating or waiving fees for visitors. Increase frequency of beach cleaning crews and establish designated waste bins to manage both tidal and on-site debris. When I walked into Paliam Palace, it felt like stepping into another era. This wasn’t just the home of the Paliath Achans, the hereditary prime ministers of the Kochi Rajas—it was a seat of power, diplomacy, and influence in Kerala’s history. What struck me first was the architecture. The nalukettu design, with its central courtyard, sloping tiled roofs, and beautifully carved woodwork, has a charm that no modern building can match. You can almost picture the Achans walking through those corridors, discussing matters of state with the kings of Kochi. The palace has a unique story even in recent times. It was a private property until 2014, when the Government of Kerala took it over and began preserving it as a heritage museum. Then came the 2018 floods—the palace was submerged in water, and the damage was heartbreaking. Standing there, knowing that the same rooms I was in had once been filled with floodwaters, gave me a strange mix of sadness and respect. Sadness for the loss, but respect for how well the palace has endured and been brought back to life. Interestingly, not all of Paliam’s heritage has turned into a museum. Some other nalukettu houses nearby are still private homes, with families living in them. That contrast made the experience even more real—it’s not just history frozen in glass cases, it’s a legacy that still breathes. The ticket price is just ₹55 per person, and honestly, it feels like a gift. The guides inside are the true highlight. Their storytelling is so vivid that the palace comes alive in front of you. I loved how they explained not only the history of the Achans but also small details about the rooms, the architecture, and even the lifestyle of those times. Without them, it would have been just a building—but with their explanations, it became a journey into the past. As I left, I felt grateful that places like Paliam Palace are being preserved. If you're someone who enjoys culture, heritage, and architecture, this place is a must-visit gem tucked away in Kerala. The ticket was quite reasonable — just ₹160 for 3 people, which gives access to both the main palace and the nalukettu (traditional quadrangle-style ancestral home). Upon entry, we were shown a short video presentation, which helped us understand the historical importance of the Paliyam family, their connection to the Cochin royal family, and their influential role in Kerala's political and cultural landscape. This context really helped us appreciate everything we saw inside. Photography is not allowed inside the palace, which actually adds to the sanctity and quietness of the environment. The place feels very serene and steeped in history, as if time slows down once you walk through the gates. One fascinating part of the palace is the Sapramanchakattil — a special cot made entirely of medicinal woods, used by the palace members for their health and well-being. It’s a rare and thoughtful aspect of traditional living that shows how wellness was woven into everyday life. The architecture of the palace is truly remarkable – intricately carved wooden ceilings, traditional tiled roofs, and unique design elements that reflect the craftsmanship of a bygone era. We even saw a specially designed toilet structure placed outside the main palace, which was fascinating in terms of ancient hygiene planning. There’s also a photo gallery featuring portraits and historical moments of key Paliyam family members, which gives a face and personality to the names we hear in Kerala’s history. Overall, Paliyam Palace is a quiet yet powerful place to experience Kerala’s aristocratic heritage, and a perfect spot for a half-day cultural trip if you're in or around North Paravoor. I highly recommend it to history buffs, students, and anyone looking to explore Kerala beyond its beaches and backwaters.

You can pay respects to a collection of deities here, including Lord Shiva, Ganesha, Muruga, and more, all within one sacred space. Essential Visitor Information- Dress Code: Be aware of the strict dress code for men: they must remove their shirts and enter with their torsos bare above the waist. Worship Time: Due to the large number of devotees, your time in front of the main deity is very brief—you typically get only 30–45 seconds to see and pray to the divine lord. Closing Hours: The temple is extremely punctual with its closing schedule. It shuts down exactly at 11:30 AM on weekends/special days and 11:00 AM on normal weekdays. Plan your visit accordingly to ensure you don't miss the morning darshan. A Tip for Tourists Be mindful of the lottery sellers operating just outside the temple gates. They can be quite persistent in trying to lure tourists into buying tickets. It’s best to politely decline and keep moving. Overall, this is a beautiful and spiritual experience! Most famous temple in thrissur where thrissur pooram is celebrated. We visited there in the evening after 5pm (suggesting you the same). No dress code like traditional dress like mundu and saree in this temple. But men has to remove their shirts while visiting the main deity. After coming out we sat near the temple and watched sunset.

An elephant camp by Govt. Parking available at payment. 70 Rs per ticket for people and 35 for senior citizens. 8 elephants are now here including the notorious one in the history Peelandu Chandru. Needs more maintainance. Children park is there with some rides. Also one eco shop canteen by department is available. Basic toilet facilities also available. Worth for 1 time visit

We went to this centre to see the elephants with our family. We could tell it was a great place for children to spent time in. It's a govt funded training centre for rescue elephants. The place was very quiet with lots of beautiful trees and their canopy protecting from the heat. We went their in an afternoon and it was like trekking. We had to walk through the forest like place with a pavement road in the middle and after awhile we could see some areas with protected deers and elephants. It's a great place to spent time in if you want to relax with nature and hear the birds flying through the thick trees. We can also see some areas of a lake where the elephant bathe most days. There are bamboo seats everywhere to sit and look at the greenery. We also saw some tree houses . It's a great place to enjoy nature and get some fresh air.

Kodanad elephant park is situated near Perumbavoor on the banks of Periyar River in Ernakulam district .It's one of the famous elephant training centres in Kerala Located at the distance of 45 km towards the north east of Kochiit's a place where the newly captured elephants are kept for training. Earlier, elephants were captured in the Malayattoor forests and trained at Kodanad. Though capturing Elephants are banned now and Kodanadjust become the training centre for elephants. There are many walkways beside the river that give pleasant experience to the visitors. There is a small wildlife park at the centre which is a home of deer and other wildlife.

The place has a huge area with very well maintained flora and fauna. The elephants here look healthy and friendly. A good place for a nice stroll,with fruit orchards, bamboo trees etc. A great number of deers as well as sambar deer are there. The butterfly garden is also nice. The place also has 2-3 tree houses which is yet another highlight.The place is very well maintained with a nice park, swings and some really good photo spots. Parking is also lavish.

It's a very nice place amidst nature. Such a big forest with a few big elephants and lots of deer. Spotted Deer and Sambar Deer are seen. It has a very big parking space. Take your tickets and go inside. Toilet available but no lights inside. Cafeteria available but with less options. Children park is also there even swings for the adults. One watch tower to climb up and take pictures. On the other side boating is available. It's a nice place for a day outing. Elephant Training can be seen but not allowed to go near them. Roads are well connected. No hotels nearby. Better to come in the morning and enjoy here.

The scenes there was wonderful. There was so much crowd that time. We can buy the tickets and have to walk somtime to reach the top of the waterfalls. There are shops at the top. You can have tea or icecreams. Then on the right side there is a way to the view from the bottom of waterfalls. The way is somewhat adventurous. It will be difficult for people with joint issues. You have to walk down the road. The way to top is wheelchair accessible.

Well worth the detour to spend a couple of hours here!! There is a small fee one must pay to visit the falls. There is parking by the side of the road, but spotty cell signal.

Visited Palakkad Fort on a holiday and it was almost empty except for a few workers. The calm and peaceful atmosphere made it a relaxing stop. Don’t expect an overwhelming or grand experience, but it’s definitely worth visiting for its historical significance. A quiet place to walk around and soak in a bit of heritage.

Later, it was captured by the British East India Company in 1768, briefly retaken by Tipu Sultan, and then permanently taken over by the British in the late 18th century. During British rule, it served as a military base and later as a administrative center. 🧱 Architecture Constructed mainly using laterite stones, a common building material in Kerala. The fort has thick walls, wide bastions, and a moat surrounding it. Inside, you can find: Hanuman (Anjaneya) Temple Sub-jail (used during British period) Children’s park Museum (run by the Archaeological Survey of India)

The place has a big parking area and no waiting time. Tickets can be booked online to save money, and children below 15 years get free entry. Overall, it’s a good experience for families. The fort is small but beautiful and beautifully maintained by ASI, there is nothing to see much but it's a quiet place in the middle of the city. Ample car and two wheeler parking is available in the fort premises. Fort is surrendered by water.

Dhyanalinga has been created as a very powerful presence so that the vignanamaya kosha or etheric body of a person is touched just by being in its sphere. To experience the Dhyanalinga, sit and gaze at the linga for a few minutes. Then close your eyes, palms facing upwards, resting upon your lap. The Dhyanalinga requires no pooja, prayer or worship. Well, big land converted to a religious place having Lor Shiva's statue 🙏 but other than the statue, it is just a place where you can enjoy some food, have shower, and see bullock cart. Lastly a Dome, also called Dhyanlinga where you can sit and meditate. It can also be done at home for people who don't know. Try this, go back home and close your eyes, empty your mind and call upon whoever you worship. God is within you. They have SAVE SOIL slogan and they love animals. There is bullock cart in 50° degrees carrying passengers from one place to the other. I mean we have battery cars and golf cars but they love animals and want them to know that they are loved deeply. Lets make these poor animals carry 9 people at once under the 50° degree sun. Touche! Tradition can be supported with technology too, we don't need to harm animals this way. We could barely walk in the sun and these poor animals were carrying so many people. God forgive these people who are doing this to animals 🙏 BATH FACILITY - We had shower in the morning so we didn't go shower here. I mean it's not elixir otherwise we would have definitely. DHYANLINGA - the road (walk only) leads to dhyanlinga but when its nearly 50° degrees, it makes it difficult to walk barefoot on the UNEVEN and hot surface. They could have put Carpet on the foor covering uneven surface but i guess they were short of funds and also they wanted you to feel the culture. You are going to feel that culture the next day too when your feet hurts. There were old people walking slowly and some of them were pouring water on the floor to walk on that hot surface. It was 3PM and Carpet is a must for people who aren't used to walking on the uneven hot surface. Finally when you reach dhyanlinga, they will force you to sit inside dome and meditate. We recently had an accident and couldn't sit on floot so they forced us to sit on the chair. We didn't want to be rude so we sat for 2 minutes. There was a small baby crying very softly and these CARETAKERS asked the lady to get out pointing finger as if she made a huge mistake. If they can't respect humanity, what good will come of anything they practice in life. We saw that and immediately stood up. 2 of them tried blocking our way. Well, just to be clear, We bow to God only and there was no God here. We are not slaves they need to get this to their heads. We left instantly without responding to them. By the way, the best feeling was when we bought 3 packets of biscuits and made the dog eat. He was very happy and kept coming back to give his love. That was the only good feeling we got. We made sure the dog wasn't hungry anymore and then left back for the hotel. Canteens are everywhere so don't worry if you miss one. There are more on the way. Also phones were not allowed but we noticed some of them carrying it quietly with them. The deposit box is safe. They take your photo and phone number. So nothing to worry about.

The area around the statue is clean, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by scenic greenery. The volunteers manage everything smoothly and guide visitors with genuine warmth. As the sun sets, the light and sound show transforms the space into something extraordinary — a mesmerizing blend of devotion, art, and technology that narrates the story of Adiyogi and the origins of yoga. We visited in the evening, and watching the lights play over the massive face of Shiva under the night sky was truly divine. It’s a place where spirituality meets serenity. I must commend the facilities management team—the entire campus is kept spotlessly clean, remarkably well-organized, and visitor flow is managed very efficiently. The Adiyogi area of Isha Yoga centre is about a km from parking area. This is a very impressive giant sized statue on a large platform. There is a Shiv Linga in the forecourt area of this statue where visitors can offer Jal abhishek amidst continuous chanting. A good arrangement ! But the walk from parking to the adi Yogi arena can be a challenging one for senior citizens & children during mornings & summer times as it's a wide open area without any trees/shade. So beware of this aspect & go prepared with sunglasses, Caps etc.

The food, stay and the hospitality by the tribal people was awesome. The only place we had issues with the guide. Better to plan in Feb or March as you can see many animals due to summer. Kudos to the food preparation

Excellent place. The rooms are neat and clean. In the morning, I saw a beautiful peacock sitting on the fence and saw a giant squirrel. This place is much more suitable for people visiting groups where you can get 6 rooms in the same place.

A guest house inside a deep forest maintained by kerela eco tourism. You can spot deers peacocks and sometimes elephants near this stay. The overall experience is amazing. But only drawback was even if drinking and smoking is banned here few tourist were drinking and smoking and created lot of chaos there. That ruined the place. Do not do that

A must visit temple that perfectly blends spirituality with the beauty of nature. You can either climb the 600+ steps or take the bus service available, but I highly recommend walking, it’s an excellent experience. Once you reach the top, you can truly witness the divine presence of Lord Murugan and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surroundings. If you are visiting Coimbatore, this temple is definitely not to be missed!

Peaceful and well-maintained temple Visited the Murugan Temple in Coimbatore and had a really calming experience. The temple is clean, well-organized, and has a serene atmosphere. The architecture is beautiful and the surroundings are quiet, making it a nice place to sit and reflect. The darshan was smooth and the staff were helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a spiritual break.

We will visit here atleast once in a month. You will find peace here. Situated in the hills, if you plan to visit the temple , and if you plan use the steps , you need to reach there before 5pm. Steps are closed after 5pm on all days due to elephants and chetah movement. Two wheelers or four wheelers are not allowed after 7 pm during weekdays and after 5 pm during weekends as well as festival seasons. Four wheelers are not allowed after 5 pm on any day. They have there own small buses carrying from hill bottom to top. But they too stop after 7 pm. Temple closes around 8 to 8.30 pm after Pooja's.

This temple is around 25 kilometres from Coimbatore, the entry fee to hill for car is 30 Rs. This place having limited car parking near the temple, so sometimes becomes difficult to get car parking here. There is a toilet facility there, the cleanliness is average. You have to climb few steps around 100 to reach the temple, there are two line for darshana one general darshana line and second one is special darshana line, the charges for special Darshana is 50 Rs. Per person. The temple situated at the foothills and surrounded by hills, it's a very spiritual experience to visit this temple. From the temple you can see bird view of Coimbatore city.

We visited the temple on a Friday. On that day, cars were not allowed to go up the hill due to the Krithigai festival, but vehicles with political flags were still permitted. If you are a common devotee, you’ll have to wait longer and face some struggle to get a darshan. Temple buses are available to take devotees up the hill near the temple, but you still need to climb a few steps to reach the main shrine. Senior citizens, patients, and differently-abled people find it difficult to manage this climb. Otherwise, the temple is clean and well-maintained, and some development work is in progress. It would be good if the Government or HR&CE department could improve facilities to help senior citizens and differently-abled devotees reach the temple more easily.

Went to this temple during my first visit to Coimbatore. This temple is located 15km from the main city of Coimbatore. The temple is at the base of the hills of western ghats. It is said to be over a 1000yrs old temple with visitors coming from all over India. I went on Friday evening, the experience of going to the temple was not pleasant as we had to wait at the foothills for more than 1 hrs just to go to the top of the hill. There are people manning the entrance of foothill with security. The stop vehicle movement and charge 20rs for parking. The foothills to the entrance closes at 7pm, even local bus service to the top closes at 7pm. Once you go to the hilltop, Darshan is available until 8:30pm. The place has not developed much. Lots of inconvenience for visitors. No proper parking, lack of basic amenities like public toilet, drinking water etc. Very limited shops near the temple. The only good thing is having darshan of Lord Murugan. We were lucky to see Abhishekam of Muruga as well at 8pm. Apart from that the place doesn't give a good temple atmosphere or a serene experience. Govt must take up the task of developing the place at foothills with hotels and shops for visitors. May be due to forest area and western ghats they might have restricted the development activities also. There are elephant movement at stairways when going towards the hilltop. The highlight here is the famous for ritual, where people grind red chilli into paste with their hand and rubs on god — many believe their problems are resolved soon after. Very peaceful, beautiful and an important place in the film history perspective. Better to visit in monsoon or the winter season, else the scorching sun will not allow your sense of relaxation to exist. Tender coconut is a bit costly, wondered why the land of coconut has become like this. There are other places better than this nearby. Need atleast two days to completely experience this out.

Aliyar Dam is in Tamil Nadu but it is part of the Parambikkulam-Aliyar Project. The dam is a good tourist destination. You can spend some time on the dam viewing the deep blue water in the reservoir and the surrounding hills. It is an excellent spot for photos. Usually there are several tourists on the dam. If you go there in the evening you will love the dam and the surroundings in the fading light.

One of my favourite dams in Tamil Nadu is this one. ​I love this place for its serene and nature-bound atmosphere. The dam offers a fantastic view of Valparai and other mountains. ​Don't miss the stunning view from atop the dam. Be sure to walk the full length to witness more scenic views of the bridge, the flowing water, and the surrounding mountains. The entire area seems to be covered with coconut trees. ​The small entry fee is well worth it to enjoy the beauty of the place. It's especially beautiful to visit on non-summer days. Aliyar Dam is a charming location surrounded by Annamali Hills with wonderful natural views. It is located between Pollachi and Valparai. The dam's location amidst the Western Ghats provides a stunning backdrop, and the surrounding hills and reservoir offer picturesque views. Mango orchid and coconut trees on the one side and hills and water on the other side. Absolute beauty. Entry fee is 5 ₹ person and 20₹ to carry mobile phones inside. Note they don’t accept UPI at the counter , so carry cash. Inside the premises they have various play stations - swings toy trains and many other kids play games - few of them are paid entry. You have to walk to the top of the damn via stairs - close to 100 steps .

The garden is well-maintained with smaller fountains adding to its charm. After exploring the garden, you can climb the stairs to get closer to the dam. One side of the dam is bordered by the scenic garden, while the other side is flanked by magnificent mountains, making it an incredible sight. Outside the garden, you’ll find some small vendors selling fruits and snacks, although they tend to charge slightly more as it’s a tourist area. However, during my visit, I didn’t see any vendors inside the garden itself. There are also a few shops near the entrance where you can grab some food. For families with children, the kids’ play area inside the garden is a thoughtful addition. If visiting during the daytime, especially in hot weather, it’s advisable to carry water bottles and a cap to stay comfortable. The best time to visit is in the evening when the weather is cooler and the views are even more magical. Parking facilities are available outside the garden, making it convenient for those arriving in private vehicles.

Visited this temple during our coimbatore visit, this temple was suggested by Anandas hotel manager. The temple is located 12-15kms from coimbatore city. The Vinayagar idol is about 6ft tall and looks magnificent. The entire temple gives you a Devine feeling. There is a small garden and a marriage area inside the temple. Parking is available for 3 to 4 cars, there are shops to buy pooja items as well. this temple is located under the flyover and has continuous vehicle movement. This temple is special because many new bike or car buyers get their pooja done here. Many devotees also perform dristi removal ritual with coconut here. Nice place to add to your coimbatore list.

The idol became embedded in the soil, which devotees interpret as a divine sign, leading to the construction of the temple around it. The temple has undergone several significant updates over the years, with the first Kumbabhishekam held in 1977, and photographs from the ceremony are displayed at the temple. How to reach: • By car/taxi: It is about 12 km from Coimbatore city and takes roughly 30 minutes. (I was driving from Kerala via NH544 and NH968 to reach the temple) Note that the temple is located right by the roadside under a flyover, so parking can be challenging. • Public transport: Buses and taxis are available from Coimbatore, which is often more convenient due to traffic and limited parking.

This is the tallest peak in Southern India , South of Himalayas. The peak towers at 8133 feet above sea level. It appears like. Elephant head , hence the name Anamudi (elephant head in Malayalam). Various places around munnar gives the majestic view of this peak, most prominent views are after Eravikulam national park.

The highest peak in India (apart from Himalayas) we drove all day to the Eravikulam National Park only to be told that you are not allowed to trek up Anamudi...you are only allowed to go 3km to the view point. This was a huge disappointment as we can here especially for this trek from the UK.

Anamudi is a mountain located in Ernakulam district and Idukki district of the Indian state of Kerala. It is the highest peak in the Western Ghats and in South India, at an elevation of 2,695 metres (8,842 ft)The name Anamudi literally translates to "elephant's head" a reference to the resemblance of the mountain to an elephant's head. If visiting Eravikulam National park then you can get a good view of Anamudi Peak which is only a 2 hrs trek from Eravikulam National Park tourist point but common tourists are not allowed further than the viewpoint. Would for sure hire a local guide as they know how to get to and from the campsites that ate gated because of the tigers, elephants, and other creatures that may be destructive to us humans.

Park is open 6 AM–6 PM; check‑posts close at 4 PM—don’t miss the 6 PM Valparai cutoff ⚠️. Roads are steep and narrow, drive carefully 🚗. No shops inside—carry water, snacks, and a camera. The reserve is rich in biodiversity—800+ plant species, 250+ birds ﹨cite﹂turn0search6﹂turn0search1﹁. Best time to visit is October to May for pleasant weather and sightings. Avoid weekends/holidays—they get crowded by midday. Stunning for nature‑lovers seeking calm forest trails, wildlife and views ✨.

Very serene place. We went around noon so it was a little hot but it was not that warm. We saw monkeys, deer, peacocks etc. but if it was evening time we could see more of them. There is a canteen near the top slip and washrooms were also available. Through this we can reach the kerala border through Parambikulam Tiger reserve but the road is not recommended. Better coming back through Aanamalai tiger reserve is best.

Nice place to chill over the weekends. We can see elephants live feeding at the camp, other wild animals like bison, deer, bird varieties, monkeys(not the one's that we usually see), wild squirrels, wild elephants etc. Try to be here early as possible, maybe around 6.30 so that you can see wild animals inside the reserve.

Good jungle safari. Spotted elephants, deep down the woods. Morning first safari we could enjoy fresh nature breeze as well as elephant’s feeding. Evening sessions may also have them bathing 😆😜

Mostly very hot place . Only day time we can travel through this forest area. Thick forest mostly we can see monkey, peacock,little birds . Can't stop the vehicle inbetween passing . Don't throw any waste & plastic items . Can experience a good forest drive . Fresh air .

Trekking through Chinnar forest is some experience we will never forget. Don’t book this one for animal sightings, but for a peaceful walk through the jungle, you can watch a variety of birds though. The first visit was a trek to Vashyappara Peak. The second visit was to stay in the Pampar log house and have a couple trekking through the forest. The bath we had in the Pampar River was so refreshing.

I recently visited Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, and it was such a refreshing experience. 🌿✨ Located on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the whole place feels untouched, raw, and very close to nature. The drive itself was scenic — hills, forests, and fresh air everywhere. Once inside, the sanctuary offered a mix of wildlife, trekking, and peaceful landscapes. I spotted deer, monkeys, peacocks, and even rare birds. Though spotting elephants and leopards depends on your luck, the thrill of waiting quietly in the forest itself is worth it. 🐒🦌🦜 What I loved most: The guided trekking experience was safe, informative, and gave us a deeper connection with the forest. The watchtowers gave a panoramic view of the entire forest and surrounding hills. The rivers and waterfalls added a calm vibe, perfect for photography and relaxation. Facilities are basic — don’t expect luxury. It’s more about experiencing nature in its raw form. Food and stay options nearby are limited, so plan accordingly. Overall, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who wants a break from busy life. It gives you that true forest experience is calm, wild, and unforgettable. 🌳🌊✨

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary stands out as a unique, unspoiled destination—definitely a must-do for serious nature lovers visiting Kerala. We opted for the guided wildlife trekking tour, The absolute highlight, however, was the trek up to the waterfall. The hike itself was beautiful, winding through dense, cool forest trails. When we finally arrived, the view was breathtaking.

Excellent tourist destination. Chinnar is on Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway. It is adjacent to the Tamil Nadu border. Chinnar is extremely good as a birding spot. You can also get some wild animals like sambar deer, barking deer, elephants, spotted deer, Malabar giant squirrel and the rare species called grizzled squirrel. There is trekking facility throughout the day. You will get tickets from the ticket counter and a guide will accompany you throughout the trekking. You can opt for a two hour trekking or a three hour trekking. You can also opt for a short walk to the watch tower. There are different kinds of accommodation arranged by the Forest Department.

One of the most beautiful lakes in south India. The backdrop was like something from the Himalayan meadows, and the climate was incredible! We had a great time going on a boat ride, which they call in Tamil "Parisal". You get to do these 360 degree stunts due to its circular structure. Overall worth a visit.

A very beautiful lake after a small walk surrounded by green valleys. Very calming and serene before the crowd kicks in. So try visiting before 10:30-11 AM. You have other activities like kayaking, coracle, zip lining, and a park for kids.

Seeing this lake you have to pay Entry ticket 30/- that's not fair on top for toilet they are asking extra 10.. Snakes are costly inside... It's bit crowded in Weekend so plan for week days. For kids it's great because they have play are and some activities such as Zip line, Horse rige, Kayaking, Parisile. We loved the road trip more then this place if you go by bike you will know! Enjoy your time there.

The temple was built in 1936 by a Australian lady who converted to Hinduism and became Leelavathi. Kurinji Andavar means God of the Kurinji flowers. In Tamil language, the word Kurinji means 'hill region' and Andavar means 'God'. Thousands of devotees visit this temple during the summer festival to seek the blessings of Lord Muruga. When we visited on a Sunday, there was a Queue for Darshan and it took about 20 minutes in Queue. Photography is not allowed inside the temple.

During my recent journey to Namakkal, I had the privilege of visiting the awe-inspiring Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple, renowned for its 18-foot tall monolithic statue of Lord Hanuman—one of the tallest in South.

This temple is of a large sized boon giving Anjaneya in standing posture. Here Anjaneya with folded hands, is facing the sannidhi of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha across the road. Regular Pujas and Thirumanjanams are held to this deity by aspiring devotees - including betel leaves mala, sandal paste, white butter, vadamala etc. A must visit temple in Namakkal & a popular Parihara sthalam.

Not a falls person but this made me one. It was majestic, spectacular and huge. We had to climb down steep steps of 1100 steps to get down there. Getting up again might be difficult. But it's worth the trip. Literally the best falls in Tamil Nadu imo.

However, reaching the falls is “not for the faint-hearted!” The descent involves “around 1,200 steep steps”, and while the views along the way are stunning, the climb down (and especially back up) is quite challenging. The steps can be slippery, so wearing “good trekking shoes” is a must. There are a few resting spots along the way, but be prepared for a strenuous workout. If you’re not used to long treks, take it slow and carry enough water. Once you reach the bottom, the sight of the “powerful waterfall” makes every step worth it! The pool at the base is perfect for a refreshing dip, though the currents can be strong, so caution is needed. The untouched beauty of the place makes it feel like a secret escape from the world. Tips for future visitors: ✅ Start early to avoid the midday heat. ✅ Carry snacks, water, and a change of clothes. ✅ Wear “non-slip shoes” the steps can be treacherous. ✅ If you have knee or mobility issues, reconsider the trek. The journey back up is even harder, so pace yourself. But honestly, the sheer beauty of Aagaya Gangai makes the struggle worthwhile. It’s one of the most stunning waterfalls in Tamil Nadu, and the sense of accomplishment after completing the trek is unbeatable! “Highly recommended for adventure lovers and nature enthusiasts” just be prepared for a tough but rewarding experience! 🌿💦 Would I visit again? The falls themselves are nothing short of spectacular. Towering and powerful, the cascading water resembles fine powder pouring from the top of the hill. The spray from the falls is so intense that it feels like standing in a gentle rain—an experience that will leave you mesmerized. Tips for Visitors: Wear raincoats and use waterproof mobile covers. Avoid carrying electronic gadgets unless they are well-protected from water. Aagaya Gangai is truly a must-visit spot for anyone exploring Kolli Hills. The walk down and up the 1200+ steps is worth for the view. It’s sad though to see the trash of plastics, clothes, etc. We seriously lack civic sense to maintain our nature.

Peaceful and spiritual experience at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. I visited the temple yesterday on the full moon day. It was quite crowded, with special prayers going on, but the atmosphere was very peaceful and filled with devotion. Despite the crowd, everything was well managed, and it felt nice to see so many people gathered in faith. The annadhanam was well organized and served with care — simple, tasty, and offered with genuine warmth. Such a worthy visit. Best temple to visit if you love ancient architecture. Best time to visit will be early in the morning and early in the evening before the temple closes, to avoid crowd. I was not able to get a Darshan because of the long que, even though it was disappointing, the exploration into the architecture made me compensate.

Srirangam is a magnificent temple with a vast, beautifully maintained complex. The divine idol of Anantha Shayana Vishnu in the main sanctum is truly awe-inspiring. Don’t miss the Lakshmi and Garuda shrines. The temple is very clean and well-managed. You can also opt for the ₹500 official ticket for direct darshan.

When in trichy, you can go to this temple but please make sure you are fit to climb around 300 steps. If you have any knee pain or foot pain, please skip this temple. Visit this temple only by taking an auto as its located in a very chaotic and busy lanes of the market area.

Think about 400 steps but worth it for the view when you get to the top, shoes are not allowed, plenty of things to see along the way and rest if get tired, if unfit go when it is cooler.

Good temple to visit in Trichy. No wheelchair accessible entrance ♿. Photography is not allowed once inside the sreekovil. Great view once you reach the top. Resting bench and water is available at top of the fort.

A very huge and beautiful Shiva temple..the paintings on walls are incredible and one of the best dipicting the stories around the temple significance..one has to see those painting in live...color full paintings..one of the best and must place to visit in trichy, need to climb around 200 steps visit the temple. The view from the top of the hill is amazing and incredible. The entire trichy city can be viewed and the river kaveri can be viewed and the banks of river kaveri.

A padal Petra sthalm. This temple is so famous in the name of Utchi Pillayar temple. When you step up to Utchi Pillayar temple this Thayumanavar (shiva) temple, Mouna madam temple, Meenakshi Sundreshwarer temple, many small temple (sculpture) and also Pallava caves is on this route. Big step around 600 is there. All temple are well maintained. You should have to spend about 3 hours to get your dharsan and photos.

Temple is located on top of a hill. Accessibility is via stairs. The best time to visit is during evenings when you can watch the city scape while enjoying the the cool breeze.

This temple coumpound is large, well maintained except few areas. Free place to keep shoes. Mobiles allowed. I could see n elephant & there's also cow shed inside . It looks like more easy going temple than others.

This temple in Srirangam is around 2 kms from the more famous Ranganatha temple. It is dedicated to Jambukeshwarar (Shiva) and Akhilandeswari (Parvathi). Legend has it that Parvathi prayed in the Jambu forrest and created a lingam made of water from Kaveri river. This temple is one of the pancha bhoota sthalams, signifying water as its element. As one enters one of the gopurams, one gets the feeling that the temple is relatively small with an open space, pond and gardens. When one goes further inside, the massive enclosure in which the temple stands reveals itself. The precincts are beautiful, some of them with many ornate pillars. The sanctum of the temple is dedicated to Lord Jambukeshwarar and is a small space where not more than 5 people can stand at a time. It is a beautiful structure and a must visit for anyone visiting Srirangam/Trichy along with the Ranganatha temple. We did not see any designated parking around the temple and had to park on one of the lanes in the vicinity.

Divine Evening Visit to Jambukeshwara Temple We visited the Jambukeshwara Temple in the evening, and it was a serene and peaceful experience. This temple represents the Jala Lingam (water element) among the five Panchabootha Lingas, and it was our final stop to complete the sacred journey of all five. The temple’s architecture is beautiful, and the spiritual energy inside is truly calming. The approach roads are quite narrow, but there is sufficient parking space near the temple. Inside, we were delighted to see the temple elephant, which added to the traditional and sacred atmosphere. The priests were polite and helpful, and the overall experience was memorable and spiritually fulfilling — highly recommended for anyone visiting Trichy!

A simple yet beautiful Shiva shrine surrounded by an awe-inspiring enclosure of mandapams and pathways. The entrance, with the Nandi Mandapam and its four gigantic pillars, is among the most magnificent in any South Indian temple. Visit very much recommended. There is a new rule of no photography but you can carry your cames in the temple.

It is famous Siva temple, Out of five major elements Lord Siva represents water element here. Lord Siva is called as Jambukeswarar and his consort name is Akilandeswari. The temple has fine architecture. It is believed that goddess Akilandeswari is worshipping Lord Siva daily at noon. An archagar dressessed as a lady worshipping Jambukeswarar and cow at noon. Cow puja is famous here..

A huge temple complex Jabukeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is worshipped as the water element in this temple. It is around 10kms from the city of Trichy or Tiruchirapalli. On weekdays the temple here usually open at 5.00am and closes at 12.30 pm. And opens again at 4.00pm. One suggestion to all travelers do not refer timings given on Google to schedule your visit. Timings may change unexpectedly.

Nice Small Fort. Family friendly area. 50 to 75 steps but manageable . Avoid heat timings or use an umbrella. Left side a siva linga available. Careful while on the ladder. Totally worthy of you having extra time while going through nearby area.

The Fort Structure is large and has a towering granite walls with cannon(artillery gun). Rock cut Temple, Impressive sculptures. Lord shivalinga is also there inside it hard to climb so avoid that. Well maintained fort by TN govt. Ticket: 25 for Adult. Wear Sensible Footwear: The site involves climbing, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Visit in the Morning: Exploring in the morning offers a quieter experience. Limited Facilities: Some reviews mention a lack of amenities, so plan accordingly.

The fort will not be an apt word for this. Seems like a watch tower to me. It has a Siva temple which I saw. But in google it says there is a Vishnu temple and a darbar too in it which I couldn't identify. No guide , no signages . Archeological India should ensure all these exist. The entry by paying in office is 25/person, payment online it's 20/ person. Why this disparities is not clear. Should display and promote local items sale .

At the top of the fort you can see the whole city.. actually fort wall designed layer by layer to prevent and attack the enemies.. near fort siva and perumal kudaivarai statue temple is located.. you can visit that also... CURIOSITY DRIVES TO THIS AREA AND ALSO FOUND A MARVELLOUS TEMPLE INSIDE THIS ROCK AREA. FORT WAS BUILT IN 1687 . VEERAPANDYA KATTABOMMAN A HEROIC PALAYAKKARA CHIEFTAIN BRAVELY FOUGHT AGAINST BRITISH RULE IN THIS AREA AND BEEN HANGED BY THE WHITES.HIS BROTHER OOMATHURAI ALSO CONTINUED HIS FOOTSTEPS AND KILLED BY BRITISH IN THIS FORT.

One of the two brahma temples in India. A must visit in Trichy. The historical significance makes this temple a place one should never miss when they are on a pilgrimage. There is a beautiful outdoor spaces surrounding the temple that lets you relax and meditate.

A nice and peaceful temple located out of the way in Tirupattur in Trichy. Unlike the more commercial temples, this one wasn't crowded. This is actually a Shiva temple with a special shrine dedicated to Brahma. Legend has it that after Shiva cursed Brahma that he wouldn't be worshipped, Brahma did severe penance at the location of this temple. Shiva pleased, allowed Brahma to have a shrine here. So Brahma apparently changed his destiny, which is what many of the devotees here aim to do. Various types of poojas are done here and there is a big board outside the temple listing how many deepams to be lit depending on what desire needs to be fulfilled, including 'blessing for the birth of a son' :) There are many monkeys in the area so be careful with any eatables. There are 12 shiva lingams in a garden next to the temple. These are situated near a tank called the Brahma Theertam. We visited in the evening, there were many bats inside the shrines containing the lingams. Please be careful if you want to step inside. There is also a statue of sage Patanjali in the temple.

The only temple where there is a separate shrine for Brahma. If course within the brahamapurreswarar temple. Brahma is cursed without any shrine or devotees because her lied having seen the head of Shiva. Well maintained temple but cleanliness needs a lot to be improved. Variety of deepams and coconut breaking rituals are well explained.

The temple is very beautiful and chill. No wait up needed as we visited during the day time. They have free parking facilities. It is walkable around the temple.

Presiding deity Lord Brahmapureeswarar is suyambu here and is seen slightly slanted. HIS consort Goddess Brahmasampath Gauri is housed separately in standing posture facing east. Lord Brahma worshipped 12 Lingams here including moolavar - devotees can see some near Brahma theertham and some in the prakaaram as well. A separate sannidhi for Lord Brahma, a big one with 3 heads is in the prakaaram. It is believed that Pathaanjali Muni attained JS here as well (one among 10 places).
