Hat Wanakorn National Park

Nature & Parks
Parks
Hat Wanakorn National Park is a serene and picturesque destination nestled between Khao Ta Mong Lai Forest Park and Klong Wan. The park boasts a stunning beachfront adorned with pine trees, offering breathtaking sunrise views and excellent snorkeling opportunities among the coral reefs. Visitors can explore scenic shoreline trails, observe diverse birdlife in the bamboo, rosewood, and myrtle forest, and enjoy peaceful camping experiences along the undeveloped beach.
The park was beautiful and peaceful. The staff were friendly and polite. The facilities were great too, and wheelchair accessible! We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, especially the walk on the beach at sunrise. We saw lots of little critters in the ocean. Additional: Housing: You can rent houses or just pay a fee to set up your tent. Bicycles: You can rent bicycles for 50 baht per bike per hour and go one a short but pretty bicycle trail with lots of birds and butterflies to be seen. They're a little rusty, but it was still fun. Snorkeling: We didn't try it because we didn't have time but it looked very promising. If I remember right the fee for Thai citizens is 500 baht not including the boat and 800. The boat coats 35 baht or something. They said the boat ride is 15-20 mins and the total snorkeling trip is around 3 hours. If I understand correctly, there must be at least 15 people going though, in order to get the boat. Boat: You can take a boat to a nearby island just for fun, I believe. Food: There is a canteen selling freshly made Thai cuisine. It was fresh and yummy, served within 20-30 minutes of ordering. We got rice for only 10 baht per cup, chicken, cashew and bell pepper dish for only 120 baht for a serving enough for 2 people, and pad Thai for 50 baht per plate. You can buy water or other basic essentials as well. Downside: There was an insane amount of mosquitos in the evening. Definitely recommend stocking up on mosquito repellent if you plan on camping!

Beautiful sea side national park. Feb.2025. Not busy at all. Camping allowed by beach area. A few people place a tent and relax. Also, They have many chalets to rent. I paid the entrance fee . ( check my picture) 130 baht. There are many parking spaces under the tree. A restaurant and a cafe is there. Q

Spent the night sleeping at the beach, it was very lovely. Plenty of toilets and shower, food starting 7/7:30 in the morning, camping equipment for rent, plenty of wildlife to see, simply amazing!

I felt very good when I stayed here. The atmosphere here is natural, there are many trees, it feels cool and shady. There are both rooms and tents to stay here. I stayed in a room with the sea at the back of the room and I really liked it, both the sound of the waves and the cool wind. In addition, I also rode a bicycle in the park to see the view of nature and the sea, which is like exercising your legs while enjoying the beautiful view. This is another place that I like.
Cynthia00_ — Google review
Superb natural environment. The beach is clean and the surrounding area for canning is very quiet and clean. There are plenty of public restrooms and shower areas for campers. Rooms and houses are also available for rent. There is a cafe and a restaurant inside. There are hiking and biking trails as well.
Arnold G — Google review
Personally, this park has taken me back down a memory lane of Thailand a decade or two ago. It is super peaceful, quiet, and not many tourists. Most people who are camping and staying are small and big families of thais. It is honestly refreshing to see coming from big cities like Phuket, Bangkok or Chiang Mai. The price of entry seems to be a topic of discussion here. In my opinion, it really isn’t overpriced even for foreigners (20b entry for a Thai and 100b for a foreigner). And to add to my point, camping is free of charge for as many days as you’d like unless you bring a big trailer or mobile home (200-400b per night). I’ve been to national parks that would charge 200-600b entry per foreigner. So pretty grateful for the price here, knowing they could charge that much more but choose not to. The national park is well-kept and all staffs are super friendly and welcoming. Probably because they are well-paid and well-cared for. The bathrooms are clean and the staff cleans them out multiple times a day. All the more reasons to pay the necessary costs for staying here. There is a restaurant onsite that opens from 8am until 5pm and coffee shop with AC that opens from 7am until 4.30pm (the hours varies depending on staff seminars and holidays). The campground is peaceful, shaded, and right on the beach. For those wondering about charging station, there is a charging station at the tourist center that you can use. There are also beach front houses available for rent as well. Price ranges from 700b per day and up. Truly a hidden gem 💎

One of the best national park and campground I've ever visited. Nice view, easy access, not far from highway, beachfront, cafe and restaurant serves inside the national park. Walking and biking trails are nice. Cabin home and electric plug in for motorhome also available here. Good landscape, clean park and restrooms. Snorkeling tour also available here.

Perched on the heights of Thong Sai Beach and overlooking Hat Sai Kaew, a few steps up and you arrive inside this superb building.

Firstly you should come early in the morning so you can enjoy the silence and spirit of that stunning tempel. There is a big golden Buddha next to the car park , and after that take a short walk up to the main temple. It looks amazing from the outside, but make sure to go up to the second floor as well where you will find some jaw-dropping panoramic views, with great photo opportunities.

Isan-quality temple in the south. This is a lovely place to visit and relax

Wat Tang Sai, one of the most spectacular temples in Thailand. It has a beautiful golden Buddha statue at the temple on the top of Thongchai mountain, Prachuap Khirikhan, Thailand. A supernatural atmosphere around and it's about four hours from Bangkok.

Interesting place for a quick stop as it’s high up on a hill overlooking the sea and Nan Krut bay and beautiful beach. It’s about a 200 metre walk uphill to the top. Some interesting stained glass windows

A very beautiful temple that is well worth the time and effort to visit. Would be good to allow 2hrs for the visit. The view from the 2nd floor of the temple is outstanding. Information: The amulet in the buddha heart is for offering and not for rent. There is not English signage.

Koh Talu Island Resort

Nature & Parks
Islands
After reading reviews I was doubting about visiting this place… but absolutely worthwhile to visit. Great Island with a fantastic white beach and and great snorkeling opportunities right next to the beach. Perfect thai food, people are proud on what they cook! Staff is very friendly. People who really look for an luxury environment should not go here: the rooms are perfectly fine, but need some refurbishment, same like the pool and other things on the island. But if you can look past these flaws, you will have a great stay! No doubt about it!
Bas E — Google review
Are you looking for a relaxing place with all the comforts? Koh Talu is the place for you. Everything was perfect. Very helpful, kind and smiling staff. The girls at the reception are lovely and helped me in different situations. The manager, mister Thu, makes you feel at home. I completed the open water diver course. The people at the restaurant are very sociable. I spent some wonderful moments at sea with the guys from the dive center, mister Boy and Egg. The food is very good. The bungalows is simple and very comfortable. There are many activities ideal for 3 days: snorkelling, kayaking, fishing, sup, turtle, trekking in the jungle to see the sunrise etc etc Thank you so much See you soon Koh Talu
Agnese M — Google review
Staying here at Koh Talu was one of the best experiences/ trips I have ever done. I stayed here 3 nights and I can’t wait to come back again. I went snorkeling many times, I went fishing, I went kayaking, i hiked to a viewpoint , I relaxed in the beautiful beach. I went octopus fishing and caught 4 octopus and they made sashimi for us. Also they have a spot for sea turtle conservation. I fed the turtles fish. It was really cool. The food everyday was incredible, 3 times per day. There was so much food, fruit, deserts. All the workers are friendly and took good care of us. The room was nice and cozy. The AC was good. Everything was clean. Mr. Tu took care of everything on the island and made sure the stay was incredible. Honestly this is probably my favorite spot in Thailand now
Edgar R — Google review
Not sure what scam they are running but I hope this review gets managements attention We were a family of 9 that was looking forward to visit the island and I was looking forward to do an honest Google and Youtube review. However the trip ende before even starting because of their dishonest pricing and conflicting information. On their website all prices and information are clearly stated. On the website it also says: "Exclusive Privilege for Koh Talu On Shore Guests. Enjoy an easy day trip to Koh Talu — just 20 steps from the hotel to our private pier and a 20-minute boat ride — at a special price of only 1,200 THB (regular price 1,600 THB) for guests booking through Direct Booking only." I reached out to their sales office by e-mail to make a reservation for hotel and daytour and received this reply: "The One Day Trip price to Koh Talu that you saw is indeed a special rate, but it is only available when booking directly through our website. If you are interested, you may proceed to book your room along with the day trip activity directly on our website. " So as instructed I followed the information and downloaded Line and sent a reservation request online. They did anwser fast but wrote: "Sorry, what you see is an old promotion and the price is not available during long holidays." I am sorry to say that these conditions were nowhere stated on their website and as the mistake is apparently on their side they should honor it. Being 9 adults a 400thb difference still ends up to be quite much. Due to all this, we decided to cancel everything and spend our money somewhere else as I do not believe this was properly managed by the resort.
Navid G — Google review
We had a great time there although the weather was not as nice as we wished. The food was delicious: every meal was great. There are activities that you can join. The whole team is very nice friendly and professional. We would definitely revisit when we have a chance in the future. Thank you!
Nong C — Google review
Took a day trip, arranged by the resort. The service was good and the island was beautiful. It’s a good day trip from Hua Hin for anyone who wants an island adventure. The speed board was smooth and not crowded. The buffet lunch was good and had good selection. The turtle sanctuary was quite interesting and had many turtles to see. Was please to see some newborn turtles about to be released. It’s a good conservation effort and well worth a visit.
John C — Google review
We booked a full package that included a 2.5-hour ride each way from our hotel in Hua Hin, a ferry, two dives, lunch, and a beautiful beach stop. The total cost for our family of five (3 adults and 2 kids) was 10,800 THB. We left the hotel at 7:00 AM and returned at 6:00 PM – a full, well-organized day that was absolutely worth it!

This is a place still under construction, mainly. There are some rooms already to rent. There is a bar restaurant which can cook some easy plates and some beverages, but don't expect to pay the same prices of a normal bar restaurant, of course. There is even a small pool with the water not exactly clear. It's nice to chill out laying on the beach beds, watching the beautiful bay. Just watching because there are sand flies, jellyfishes, low tide mostly on the daytime. Anyway it's pretty probable to experience construction inconveniences caused by trucks and others work machinery, till the construction will be over.
Giuseppe G — Google review
went here for a swim in the pool and beach. drinks were good, music was on point, and the food was fantastic, some of the beast we've had on our thailand holiday so far. prices were really good. staff were really lovely too.
Martin C — Google review
Nice area, definitely got potential. But the beach itself and surrounding grounds didn't present well. A little more attention to cleaning and tidyness would go a long way. The thai food served was good. The farang food served was terrible, even by thai standards. Will probably come back in the future to check on the progress.

Beautiful place small swimmingpool not very clean beach is full of trasig. Wi-Fi in the bar is worthless. And not to forget The sandflies on the beach and by The pool 🤔

I had a wonderful experience at View Seafood Resort! The resort's minimal style by the sea was absolutely delightful. The beach was stunning, with shades of blue water that were breathtakingly beautiful. The accommodation was comfortable, and the seafood served at the resort was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing seaside getaway.

We only ate at the restaurant which had good Thai food. The Tom Yum Goong was a bit spicy at first but delicious 😋

We stayed here overnight. The reception lady accommodate and allow us to check in early. Our room cost 1000 baht. We have a nice view to the beach and the room is spacious. They have other rooms as well but the one we stayed is N2. Wishing this place keeps its service and price reasonable. Thank you very much.

I recently visited this View seafood restaurant, just near hotel i stayed in Tung Wua Laen Beach. The atmosphere was nice, very local, you can hear beach wave. We ordered three crispy spicy salad, stir fried crab meat with curry powder, boiled cockles, stir fried Liang leaves with egg, we really love it, real southern food taste, and of course we would come back again!

Food was delicious. Portions are rather small but this is forgotten once you taste the lovely fresh crab meat. Most Thai dishes are prepared to accommodate a Western public (not as spicy).

Phra Tamnak Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak

Mentioned on

Monument
Sights & Landmarks
Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak Shrine is the biggest among several shrines constructed by a Thai prince. It serves as a place of homage to the 'Father of Thai Royal Navy', Prince Chumphon, who passed away at Hat Sai Ri. The shrine is situated near a navy ship which tourists can visit and there is also an exhibit showcasing the biography of the prince. Moreover, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the beach's cool breeze.
Krom Luang Chumphon is a well-known and respected Royal pricee from King Rama 5. The sailers do pray to him prior the sailing. He is the sea/ ocean protector for Thai fishermen. The place is nice, clean and not far from the city center. It is about 30 mins by car.

Explore a fascinating temple complex in Chumphon, right by the beach. This temple pays tribute to the Royal Thai Navy, and you can even step aboard a retired gunboat! Just be aware of one-way streets in the area if you're driving or riding a motorbike.
Banyapon P — Google review
A lot of people visited this place to make merit. The place is stunning. You can offer flowers or fresh fruits to the Shrine. You can also walk along the beachside road. They also have toilets, souvenir shops, coffee shop stall and picturesque views.

Being that my wife is ex army - her mother & father ex army and grandfather also so when we tripped through Chumpon this apparently was a place we had to stop. The shrine is dedicated to Admiral Phrachao Boromwongse, His Royal Highness Prince Aphakorn Kiatwong Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak", the son of King Rama V "Chulalongkorn" and "Chao Chom Mode", the mother. His former name was "Prince Aphakorn Kiatwong". The story here is that he is credited with being instrumental in the formation of a formal Navy for the Kingdom ( as best I understand it anyway 😀) New navy recruits, fishermen or pretty much any persons involved in any branch of maritime related duties or profession. It is believed that coming to the shrine for worship provides protection from the "wilds" of the sea. When we were here (sunday), the place was jammed. With all of the above said, the shrine is located on a small hill overlooking the bay surrounded by a small rampart with cannons. Further, there is a navel vessel On display that looked WW2ish, but I could be wrong. In general, it was enjoyable. We gave our respects with incense and a red rose. Looking around at those in attendance, I couldn't help but feel the deep respect and thoughtful prayer I was sure was going on. Loads of parking, beautiful views, and some really nice culture to take in. Highly recommend.

Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak Shrine (พระตำหนักกรมหลวงชุมพรเขตอุดมศักดิ์) is a revered landmark in Thailand, dedicated to Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, the father of the Royal Thai Navy. Located in Chumphon, this shrine holds cultural and historical significance. It is both a tribute to the Prince's contributions to the navy and a place of spiritual importance where locals and visitors come to pay respect and make merit. Visitors to the shrine find beautiful ocean views and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The shrine itself is adorned with statues and naval memorabilia, reflecting the Prince's legacy. It is also a popular spot for those seeking blessings, particularly for safe travels and good fortune.

The shrine for people to come respect for the "Father of Thai royal navy". Tourists can visit a navy ship located next to the shrine and small exhibition about the bibliography of the prince. Enjoy nice breeze scenery of the beach. Free parking lot is available. Mostly crowded during long weekend.

Hands down nicest pitstop location ever. If you need to stop along this route, stop here. Coffee and cake are delicious. The rest area is amazing. The toilet theme is very creative and funny. It's got a theme park style walk through the forest area, poop and toilet themed, in a good way, kids will love it too!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five-star dining at Krua Suan Nai Dum I’ve visited Suan Nai Dum many times for coffee and cake, but only recently sat down for a proper meal at the restaurant. Since there’s no separate Google Maps pin 📌 for the restaurant itself, I’m leaving my review here. First, a little context: my in-laws 🎃 are very particular about Gaeng Som. We’re talking next-level purists: what can and can’t go into a proper Gaeng Som is a regular (and somewhat unexciting) family debate. So when I saw that Krua Suan Nai Dum offered Gaeng Som with durian, I knew better than to invite them. They’d write it off as some kind of novelty. Instead, I came alone so I could enjoy it all by myself 😂. 🌟 Recommended Dishes: Gaeng Som with Durian (แกงส้มทุเรียน) Rich, homemade Southern-style curry paste, perfectly balanced. The durian adds a creamy texture and depth without overpowering the dish. Absolutely delicious. Bai Liang Pad Khai (ใบเหลียงผัดไข่) A Southern comfort classic. Simple, high-flavour, and surprisingly healthy. One of those dishes that reminds you how good local food can be. The service was friendly, and prices are very reasonable. Bonus: there’s tons of parking as it's a popular rest stop for travellers.

The food is delicious, the environment, and the location is great. There were several restaurants to eat, very relaxing, the sound of birds, the shade from lots of trees. Perfect place to eat and have an unforgettable family time. The menu on site is in Thai. This link might help you to know what yo order. http://suannaidum.in.th/Kruasuannaidum.html

Punyaban Waterfall is a delightful natural attraction located near Route 4 in Ranong, Thailand. Unlike many other waterfalls in the area, Punyaban Waterfall is easily accessible from the highway, making it a convenient stop for travelers. The clear and cold waters of the waterfall offer a refreshing swimming spot with both shallow and deep areas. While some visitors find the waterfall to be less powerful during dry seasons, others appreciate its beauty and serene surroundings.
Super beautiful waterfall surrouded by lust green jungle and cliff. Breathtaking scenic. There is entering fee. Car parking lots at the opposite of the road provided and you can just walk through the bridge under the road to the waterfall There is coffee shop at the ranger site beside the waterfall. Tips: If you visit Khao Kor Ma viewpoint before, you can just show the ticket to the officer to enter the waterfall without paying any more fee.

Really beautiful waterfall. Unlike many waterfalls in Thailand this one is super accessible. Just turn of road 4 and you are literally there. 100 baht entrance fee. A side the waterfall there is a small cafe and a restroom. We took a short swim in the pool underneath the waterfall.

Comprising over 40 islands, this marine park features lush tropical rainforests, dramatic limestone cliffs, and pristine beaches that beckon adventurers to explore. Ideal for kayaking and snorkeling enthusiasts, the park offers organized tours that guide you through hidden lagoons and secret caves while providing all necessary equipment.
Ang Thong is stunning! The water is clear and calm, perfect for swimming and relaxing. Hiking up to the viewpoint was really tough and exhausting, but once you reach the top, the view is absolutely breathtaking. Totally worth the effort!

We have been here with a guided tour in 3 small islands and 1 snorkeling spot and has been an amazing experience! The National Marine Park is pristine and you can visit from beautiful beaches to a breathtaking view points. We have managed to enjoy some relaxing time and to prove our self on really tough trails to reach the viewing points, but has been worth it! We have been so lucky to find monkeys with babies during one of thr trail and to see some huge and colored fishes in the snorkeling point. The emerald lagoon is amazing aswell! If you are here around you cannot miss this.

Amazing national park and must see when in the south of Thailand. Gorgeous views, clear water, many nice activities and many animals! Including cute monkeys. Do watch out that they don't take your stuff.

Absolutely stunning marine park with turquoise water, limestone islands, and breathtaking viewpoints. The scenery is incredible, both from the boat and from the hilltop trails. Snorkeling and kayaking are great ways to explore the area. Well organized tours and respectful handling of nature. A must-visit when staying around Koh Samui or Koh Phangan.

The view was absolutely breathtaking, a solid 10/10. But happy cardio to climb in 500 M. 🤪 I’m so grateful to have had the chance to experience such beauty in my lifetime. It really highlights how important it is to have a climbing partner who can encourage you along the way. 💗
KathD — Google review
Wide variety of activities to do from hiking to scenic viewpoints, swimming, snorkeling, hanging out at the beach, and watching wild life. Had a good experience traveling to this island from Koh samui via Grand Sea discovery.
David T — Google review
Wonderful trip, we got everything we needed, they took great care of us, Mr. Thai was very funny and kind, and his jokes made the whole day even better. The hike to the viewpoint took 20–40 minutes depending on experience and fitness level. A must-do is kayaking (if you don’t go kayaking, you’ll end up waiting on a crowded beach). We booked it through GetYourGuide.
Barbora Č — Google review
My honest review would be that I was not expecting this tour to be as exhausting as it was. I appreciate the operator and the tour guides, and the views are nice. However, the travel time from the pier to the first island is quite long, which already drains my energy. Then, the nature trail to the viewpoint is another exhausting one. The tour guides can mention in advance that if they are interested, they can hike. I cannot recommend this tour to those who are weak in endurance. Plus, I think the trail is not just 500 meters long. So, I decided to go down after the next stop. There is less time at the beach to explore and swim. The lunch provided is so-so. The kayaking was also too much with the distance. It was quite exhausting, and we were not informed that it would be very far, plus the waves were strong. If you can find another island tour aside from this, I recommend choosing that instead.

The Smiling Seahorse is a popular choice for liveaboard diving trips in Thailand. Guests have raved about the unique and spectacular dive experiences, particularly enjoying the sunset and black water dives. The boat itself is praised for its comfortable, modern cabins, spacious dive deck, and large social areas.
This is the third time for my partner and first for me in this liveaboard and I can see why she wanted to return. Everything is thought through looking for their guests to have the best possible pleasant, easy and enjoyable vacation in the middle of the sea. The whole staff is very friendly and ready to help, the food is amazing and the equipment and boat are well maintained. Zero complaints!

Fantastic trip highly recommended for any dive trips in Thailand. The staff is fantastic and extremely helpful. The dives were amazing and dive guides helped make them even more memorable pointing out the magnificent sea life. I can't say enough good things about this liveaboard operation.

Boat owner Frank and his awesome crew made our first liveaboard experience one to remember! We had a great time. The diving was unbelievable and the dive team were super knowledgeable and helpful. The food was great and varied and our cabin did the trick. We highly recommend Smiling Seahorse!

Was on a trip with the Smiling Seahorse in late January. Highly recommend!! The staff were wonderful, the food was great, dive sites were incredible. The boat staff really had the vibes right. Overall had a great experience, a ton of fun. Would absolutely do it again.

My first live aboard trip and it was fantastic! The boat is comfortable, there is a much appreciated photo room and the food was good. I am especially grateful for the vegetarian choices! Franck and the team put a lot of thought into the itinerary and for being back to Myanmar after 3 years of covid pause, it was really exciting. The spontaneous trips to land (beach and temple landing) was a great surprise and the guests loved it. The ship crew consisted of the friendliest and most attentive people I’ve met in a long time. They are a very big part of making the trip exceptional! The only thing which did not live up to the expectations was our Dive Guide. Sadly the only person on the boat, who had a hard time returning a smile and who wasn’t very engaging in the dives. That opinion was shared by his whole group and sadly took away joy from the experience. There was also a questionable decision in taking one claustrophobic diver (who mentioned his concerns beforehand) into an actual very narrow cave. Other than that a fantastic trip I can recommend to anyone!

The Smiling Seahorse Review My wife and I just spend an amazing week living aboard The Smiling Seahorse which took us through the many renown diving spots Thailand has to offer. The past 7 days, we sailed the Andaman Sea, stopping at busy Richelieu Rock by the Mu Ko Surin National Park and exploring the wonders of Ko Tachai and Ko Bon. We were amazed at the beauty of Breakfast Bend (3 trees), the imposing Elephant Rock (Hin Pusa) and Shark Fin Reef (Hin Phae) dive sites off the coast of Mu Ko Similan National Park. We were greeted by superb Oceanic Mantas at Red Rock (Hin Daeng), Purple Rock (Hin Muang) right in the Strait of Malacca and gasped at the grandeur of Cathedral (Koh Haa Yao). Last but not least, Ko Li Pe delivered schools of Fusiliers, Trevalis and Small Tooth Emperors reigning over the rest of the innumerable schools of fishes at Stonehenge and 8 Miles Rock (Hin Paad Mile). The crew on board was the friendliest and always helpful, accommodating my wife’s (many) food allergies with kindness. Speaking of the food, the chefs on board are incredible and you are in for a treat after each dives (my favorite being the post-morning dive breakfast). Our cabin (number 1) was spacious with a large bed and ample space to organize and store our luggages away. The bathroom was clean and perfect for a week on board. The entire dive masters crew was always professional, taking the time to go over the dive plan, answering any concerns and helping locate and identify the many hidden wonders discovered during each dive. We highly recommend signing up for the black water dive if this is something you have never done as Franck (the owner) is an amazing photograph and will lead you through a new way to discover this part of the animal kingdom. Kudos to Franck and his team for organizing everything in a seamless fashion getting on and off the boat and everything in between. Thank you for having us, we’re looking forward to discovering Burma in a future adventure!

Best liveaboard trip I had ever since. The team is so energetic and hospitable. From the very start to the end of the Liveaboard trip they were consistently hardworking to offer the best experience of the dive. We had booked for the 10 day trip to the Mergui Archipelago (Burma). The office team had helped us greatly to clear all our documentation and immigration and visa formalities. The Hosts and dive team, the dive guides, especially to mention about the energetic Mr. James, Mr. Frank, Our Dive team leader and Guide Sophie and Mitsy, and Mr. Simon. Their energetic relentless efforts and made our trip a success and enjoyable also memorable. Also to mention the tiring and toiling efforts and cooperation of the Boat captain and the crew of M.V. Smiling Seahorse who manned and well maintained the boat always ready for action. As noteworthy point was that they had organised few classrooms for enhancing and updating our knowledge on the manta rays, which was very nicely delivered by the Thai manta expert, Ms. Jamie. We especially thank you for the sweet memories and bondings, we definitely be back again whenever possible. Many thanks indeed, and all the best for their future endeavours. P. S. - I was very excited also to attend the engine room tour of the boat. 😊

Frank the owner of the boat, a tall, French, fish loving guide, friend, and entertainer who walks around like the Thai fishermen wearing local clothes and a winter hat to keep the wind out of his ears, along with the crew gave a trip of a lifetime. Frank jumps in the water each day along with the divers purely because he loves diving and taking AMAZING pictures. He sat and talked to me about remedial camera skills, settings, and technique to take the best pictures even though his level of photographing is light years beyond what I’m doing. He is genuine, kind, insightful, and informative. You can tell that Frank loves being on the boat being with the divers, making friends and because of that you get treated like his friend from the food he plans like the barbecue night with massive ribs, chicken, and potatoes and opening some rum for everyone to enjoy (at no cost) as the music plays and people let their hair down. Then the final meal was mouth-watering steak, with pasta, and delicious veggies in a cream sauce. When you are treated like the owners good friend on the boat, you get the best of everything. Taking a trip on the Smiling Seahorse to me is like feeling that I should have had to pay more for the trip that I actually did. I love to get the best deal, even if that means having to put up with some not so nice things. This trip I feel like I got so much more than what I paid for. I cannot say enough about this trip. I’m sad it had to end and now any other live-aboard I go on in the future will have a very, very high bar. Thanks Frank and the team!

Ponrang Hot Spring in Ranong, Thailand is a popular destination currently undergoing improvements. The site features several pools at different temperatures, allowing visitors to choose their preferred level of heat. Additionally, there is a stream running through the area for a refreshing change. Clean and well-maintained changing rooms, showers, and washrooms are available on-site. Visitors can enjoy soaking in the thermal springs and then cool off in the nearby river.
Absolutely stunning! Phonrang Hot Spring in Ranong Province is a true hidden gem. Nestled deep in the lush jungle, it offers an incredibly immersive nature experience. The entire facility is remarkably clean and exceptionally well-maintained. The hot springs themselves are amazing, with various pools to enjoy. What truly sets this place apart is the fantastic service and the very well-appointed facilities. It's a peaceful and rejuvenating escape that I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone!

Lovely hot springs, with multiple pools and a cool river to swim in! The cafe is good for lunch. Prepare to pay for national park entrance (100b) plus car fee, personal fee and service fee (whatever they are!). But still cheap and gives you access to the pools. The path to the waterfall was blocked so we didn't get a chance to walk there, you can if you have a car/motorbike.

One of my favorite places in Ranong! 10/10. This is a great place for families - people of all ages come here. It’s especially wonderful to see many elderlys come to relax and enjoy themselves and soaking in the pools. Also, strike up a conversation with them, most of them love a good conversation especially while you are in the pools - not a bad place to make new friends 🤎 They’ve been making this place more modern. I see the progress everyone I visit and it’s pretty impressive how they continue to improve it. Check out the newest part that is on the hill - looks like a scene from a cafe in Bali! It’s also not covered by the treats and completely out in the open. Love the vibe. Looks like the pools are still not open to use yet but it is such a good spot for tanning! It’s very spacious and you can definitely lie down - I think foreigners will like this as they want to get more sunlight an a good tan Enjoy natural hot spring, small waterfalls, cold dipping in the little lake and trying mineral water boiled eggs. It’s an absolutely wonderful experience. Such a wholesome place. My favorite spot is at their little outdoor cafe right at the entrance overlooking the water - you can see a picture included in this review 😊 It will be very packed on weekends and holidays. There are room rentals right into the hot spring and also around the area - actually it’s a great idea to get a place nearby so you can drop by for a morning dip quite effortlessly. Place closes about 16:00 pm

A natural hot spring that is beautifully managed while still keeping its charm! The setting feels very authentic, surrounded by trees and fresh air, and the water is clean. I love that the entrance fee is very affordable, yet you get to enjoy such a wide range of hot spring experiences - whether it’s soaking in the natural river stream, relaxing in the pools designed for your feet, or choosing a private pool for a more peaceful moment. If you’re in Ranong, this place is a must for relaxation and a unique connection with nature.

A must visit if you are interested in history, this is an amazing for me as I am particularly interested in Srivijaya period and I wish to know more about the history during that period of time. This nice Buddhist also house a school in a more traditional style. There is a the main hall (Viharn) with nice style of Buddha statues not seen in other places. The stupa /Chedi is so beautiful, which is believed to house the Buddha relics. There is a huge car park in the front area. Must check out the museum if you are interested to see items from prehistoric to 6th 7th 8th etc century. The museum is part of the National Museum in Bangkok, which I hope to visit as we have been told many original artifacts are housed in the National Museum. Enjoy your visit. Wat Suan Mokkh Phalaram is a serene Theravada Buddhist monastery situated in a peaceful forest environment. It provides opportunities for meditation retreats and learning about dhamma amidst the beautiful scenery of huge trees, rock formations, and sand spaces. Visitors can purchase books and souvenirs related to dhamma from the building near the entrance gate. The temple is surrounded by a stunning park but unfortunately lies close to a busy highway that connects Bangkok to the south.

Located in a nicely kept park, this is not a buddhistic temple, but an ecumenic ( multi-religious ) center of spiritual belief. Both the architecture -with one building resembling the shape of a ship- as well as the wall paintings are very remarkable and well worth a visit.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely beautiful spot! Ko Tao Resort – Paradise Zone is a hidden gem up on the hillside with incredible panoramic sea views. The room was clean, spacious, and had a private balcony that made it feel like our own little piece of paradise. Super peaceful and surrounded by nature. Even though it’s up on the hill, it only takes about 3–5 minutes to walk down to the beach — easy access but far enough to enjoy some quiet away from the crowds. The pool also has amazing views and is a great place to relax. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming. Perfect for couples or anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Koh Tao. Would definitely stay again😍💞

A forest temple, Wat Suan Mokkhabalarama was founded by Buddhadasa Bikkhu in 1932. The grounds are massive and cover 120 acres of space, mostly jungle the way it was when originally founded. Suan Mokkh temple is on the west side of the highway, and is sometimes called the "Thai side" of Wat Suan Mokkh. Anyone can go there to walk around, or register to stay in either the male or female dorm there overnight without charge. The sleeping area is concrete and you'll get a pillow and a mosquito net. This is an ideal temple for self-guided meditation retreats. I've spent time here doing so. If you're not going to stay overnight, you might try walking meditation on the forest paths. There are dogs around some of the monk kutis which are not friendly. Across the highway on the east side of it is the Suan Mokkh International Dhamma Hermitage - meditation center. This is where the 10-day retreats are held each month for foreigners (1st through 10th of the month), and for Thais the 11th through the 20th of each month. Sometimes over 100 people join the retreat. This is a silent retreat. Very little talking can be done during the 10 days. This is not for everyone. Meals are provided and instruction in English is provided. You should already be able to meditate for an hour or so at a time, and just know that most of the day will be spent in meditation, mindfulness, working, walking, and contemplating the present moment as much as possible. No phones or other electronics. A donation is suggested. One of the best meditation temples in Thailand. Highly recommended for meditators looking to take it to the next level. If you have any questions, you can contact me through the Jhana8 website. With metta... Vern

The moment you step inside, you can feel a unique energy flowing through the building—almost as if the very ethers are being pulled through its walls. This shrine holds an air of ancient wisdom, a quiet power that connects you to the deep history of the region. It’s not just beautiful; it’s a spiritual experience that invites reflection and awe. A must-visit for anyone seeking a connection to ancient knowledge and the tranquil energy of the past. 🛕

The Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine is a true gem in the city of Surat Thani and a place that every visitor should definitely experience. As soon as you enter the shrine, you will be amazed by the impressive architecture and tranquil atmosphere. The intricately designed statues and the loving attention to detail reflect the rich culture and tradition of Thailand. The central pillar, which is considered a symbol of the city, is particularly impressive. It is not only a spiritual place for the locals, but also a fascinating photo opportunity for tourists. You immediately feel the peaceful energy that surrounds this place and it is easy to get caught up in the moment. Many people come here to pay their respects and ask for luck for their families and friends. The location of the shrine is also excellent. Surrounded by lush greenery and close to several other important attractions, it is perfect for a relaxing stroll. Access to this sacred place is easy and the surrounding area is clean and well maintained. Overall, I highly recommend the Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine. Whether you are looking for spirituality, a cultural experience or just a peaceful place, this shrine offers all that and more. An absolute must for any Surat Thani visitor!

This is a beautiful shrine surrounded by some well kept lovely gardens . Not a destination attraction but definitely worth the detour if passing nearby . Lots of street parking and no fee to enter .

Beautiful - smaller than expected, but a nice stop on the way 🌟

Nice little shrine to walk through if you’re passing by, but it’s not worth travelling for otherwise. The place is lit up beautifully at night although they close it so you can’t get close by. In daytime it’s nice to sit by for a short while and just relax as it’s very quiet without many visitors.

I had a great time in the Surin Islands through Sabina on their 2N3D snorkel camping tour. They were easy to book and they answered all my queries via Facebook. The tour involved 6 snorkel sites/sessions with a final day visit to a Moken village. The included food was tasty and large portions, served promptly as you arrive at the Restaurant (only wished the food was a little warmer). The whole tour went well, it took the stress out of self planning. The snorkel equipment and tents were in good condition and great, well maintained National Park facilities with enough bathrooms for everyone. All the Sabina staff were friendly and helpful and boats ran on schedule. I appreciated they took me to Khura Buri bus station to buy my bus tickets for onward travel the following day. Stunning islands, beautiful corals and marine life 🐠

Sabina Tour was amazing. They are very professional and polite. I spoke with 2 ladies on the phone and they handled my reservation easily and it was all set up when I arrived to check in. The boat is fast and safe and the crew are excellent. The only slightly negative comment is the morning speech before you get on the speed boat is too long. Everything else was excellent!
Peter B — Google review
Very good and fair service, I would book again from them. Good tents, good snorkeling tour, good equipment and price is cheaper than on national park campsite. Thank you for good experience 😊

Great service by Sabina Tour! They organized the transfer from Khao Sok to Khura Buri, Koh Surin and later also to Ranong. The beachfront tents were perfect, the snorkelling tours as well. When we decided to stay longer on Koh Surin they even organised fresh fruit from the mainland and send them via boat to us… what a service! Thank you!
Nico T — Google review
Thank you Sabina Tours for making our trip to Koh Surin national park smooth and easy. We bought the boat tickets, tent hire and snorkelling trips. The checking in process was very informative and allowed us to buy the snorkeling vouchers - that saved us a lot of money, much better than buying them when you arrive on the island. We wish we had also rented your fins as they are probably also cheaper than renting from the park office. After checking in our bags were transferred to the boat. The speedboat out and back was fast and comfortable. On arrival our bags were again moved for us, we were a little early so the staff let us use an empty tent until our one was ready. We went for a snorkelling trip and by the time we got back our stuff had been moved into the new tent for us. Super-nice! The snorkelling trips were great, easy to book and the boats leaving reasonably on-time. Good locations - deep water, with currents, but we felt safe knowing that the boat Captain and the guide were watching out for us. The bottle of water and pineapple were nice after the salt water swim. One extra thing we liked was being able to buy ice from you in the evenings - luxurious! Overall a great trip made easier for a very reasonable price. Thanks to all of your staff and we will definitely usde your services again.

Unprofessional jerks! The worst travel company. Always late. Throw luggage. When returning from Surin island they made 40 of us wait for 2 hours so they could take 6 people out snorkeling. The boat was racing through the coral filled ocean before they handed out the life jackets. The boat was dangerously overloaded. Complete idiots.

Took multiple tours from Surin around to different bays. Boat 30-40 mins late on both days! Paid to sit and wait too long. I'm flexible but this late on both days suggests not well organised, and no apology to the customers. Try a different company.

A fantastic company with an excellent mission. I recently did the Moken experience tour through them on the Surin Islands. This was a wonderful experience and a chance to understand a community that have been living on the waters of the Andaman for thousands of years. Although not the cheapest tour operators you will find in the area, this is for a good reason. A large portion of their profits go to the communities that they offer tours with. They are a highly ethical business that looks to offer very unique and culturally sensitive experiences that allow you to speak and learn from indigenous communities. My trip truly impacted me with the people I met and what I took away from it. My guide and translator had a log established relationship with the people I met and there is a genuine connection, not just a business opportunity. They also have their own charity/fundraising branch (North Andaman Network Foundation) which looks to raise money to support opportunities and cultural preservation. A truly human centered not-for-profit tour company that is looking to educate through meaningful experiences. Will definitely return again.

Under the banner of sea star they are. Tour was phenomenally organized. Loved it. ALL you need is taken care of. (Except a poo toilet on the 1.5 hour ride😁, pee yes though.) Snorkeling; great fish scenery, friendly turtle, clean warm water!

I did the 4 day "Beach Village & Moken Experience" Tour. These tours are a great way to experience and get to know the local communities while also supporting them financially. 50% of the profit goes back into the communities and projects. It seemed to me that the organization really cares about helping the local people and gives them a very fair amount of money (this is often not the case with other organizations offering similar experiences). The whole trip was very well organized by Tui. She also came along as my translator along with an intern named Earn. It was great to have both of them along the whole time because they helped me engage with the locals by acting as translators. It was really interesting learning about the Moken way of life and visiting their village. However, I wish I knew how crowded this area would be. There are boat loads of people coming to visit them every day. However, if you want to visit them, Andaman discoveries definitely seems the most authentic way to do so because we actually can engage with them. If you spend the night, you must camp in tents at the national park headquarters. There were probably 100 tents all very close together and you all eat at the same dining area (like an outdoor cafeteria). This part of the trip was a bit less enjoyable for me because I like to get off the beaten path more. There is an area nearby where you can rent little cabins.. this would be a bit more expensive, but perhaps a nicer experience. Staying with the Muslim family in the village was the highlight of the trip for me. I got to visit several different homes in the village and do several different activities. This felt much more authentic and unique. If you are looking for a tour with a homestay, I highly recommend this company.

Truly authentic experience with the moken people, we had a fantastic time on the surin islands, snorkelling, learning about the moken culture, spearfishing for banana fish, rowing boats and enjoying wonderful beaches and turquoise waters. The tour guide was great, a lot of knowldge to transfer, very funny, helpful and she took good care of us, thank you very much Tui! Whoever wants to experience the real thailand should book a tour with andaman discoveries!

We booked a trip to Kao Sok and Surin Island with Andaman Discoveries. We were given the impression it was one unified package RUN by them, but soon discovered they were shuffled from one operator to the other, and, thus never really met anyone from Andaman Discoveries. The trip to Khao Sok was organised by the hotel we were put in (River Cottages, which offer it to anyone). We were told it will be with 8-10 other guests. In reality it was with about 30 other guests. A thing one should bear in mind, Khao Sok itself is far from the idyllic far away place image. It's mass-tourism and full of people. The next part was Surin Island, organised through Greenview tours. The trip itself was amazing. But we were lucky, as we stayed with only 100 people on the island. But, were told by our guide that usually it's nearer to 900 people at a time. Before reaching Surin Island, we were brought to a hotel in Khura Buri, with no word of explanation what is coming next, and really felt a bit in the dark. No one told us when to expect being picked up, and we needed to really call and ask ourselves to get the information. Overall, Andaman Discoveries offer a service very far removed from the personal trip they claim to offer. I would personally recommend booking directly with the operators, thus have control of your trip and know the itinerary you have. There is nothing particularly sustainable about booking with Andaman Discoveries.

Just feel like telling you what a wonderful experience we had in late march on the Khao Sok Lake with Andaman Tours. Our guide Em was excellent and fullfilled all our wishes as well as answered all our questions about the nature and area, and we had the best experience in Thailand (and had lots of good ones!). It is nice and of great value that someone take care of sustainability and tourism at the same time.Thank you! Anne and family, Denmark

Cheow Lan Lake is a stunning 185-square-kilometer artificial lake located in Khao Sok National Park, created by the Rajjaprabha Dam. Visitors can stay in floating houses and bungalows for a unique experience surrounded by serene natural beauty. The area offers small food stands, shops, and clean restrooms. Boat rides through the dam and lake are popular activities, providing breathtaking views and great photo opportunities.
Very nice one day trip, we book it one day before at our accommodation(near the lake) Price per person: 1500THB plus fee 300thb for national park + 40 THB for the pier The lunch was really good

Cheow Lan Lake is located in Khao Sok National Park, in the province of Surat Thani. The water area is about 165 km². The reservoir is surrounded by karst mountains, thickets of tropical trees and winding rivers. The water in the pond can be turquoise, or maybe blue - it all depends on how sunny the day is. We came to Cheow Lan Lake by bike and rented a boat ourselves.
Maria D — Google review
Cheow Lan Lake in Khao Sok National Park is not only a natural wonder of Thailand but also one of the most unique destinations I have ever visited. Created by the Ratchaprapha Dam in the 1980s, the lake stretches over 165 square kilometers and is surrounded by dramatic limestone karsts that rise majestically from emerald-green waters. The landscape has a grandeur that is both serene and awe-inspiring, comparable to the world’s most famous natural landmarks. What makes Cheow Lan Lake truly exceptional is its atmosphere of untouched wilderness. Despite being a man-made reservoir, the ecosystem has flourished, and the area is now home to rich biodiversity, including hornbills, gibbons, and even wild elephants. Cruising through the lake feels like entering a lost world—remote, quiet, and deeply connected to nature. One of the highlights of staying here is the experience of the floating raft houses, where guests can wake up to mist drifting over the water and the calls of wildlife echoing through the forest. This is not simply accommodation; it is immersion in nature at its finest. Unlike more commercialized attractions, Cheow Lan Lake has maintained its sense of authenticity and exclusivity. It is a destination that combines ecological importance with breathtaking beauty, making it ideal not only for leisure travelers but also for those seeking a deeper appreciation of Thailand’s natural heritage. In short, Cheow Lan Lake is more than a place to visit—it is a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature in one of Southeast Asia’s most extraordinary settings.

I really advise this visit

Beautiful landscape, amazing river in the middle of the jungle. You can go kayaking, safari, night safari, trekking, visit for a day trip or sleep at one of the beautiful hotels straight on the water.

Amazing place to visit. Part of Khao Sok national park. Take one of the many long tail boat trips around the islands. Once you've done that and wondered about the trees that still poke their tops above the surface of the 40m deep man-made lake, read a bit about the history of the place ( there's a reasonable page on Wikipedia). The way the Thai government compensated the farmers who had had to be relocated is an interesting story.

This is one of the most special places in Thailand, as it is about the oldest rainforest in Thailand and in the world. We took a private longtail boat at the lake, who kindly showed us around at Cheow Lan Lake. It was a beautiful experience and definitely must-do when you have the chance!

Rajjaprabha Dam, a towering rural dam constructed in 1987 to generate electricity and facilitate irrigation, is a serene getaway offering refreshing experiences. Though remote and not easily accessible by road, the place boasts of clear blue waters surrounded by mountains and sky. The water's emerald color enhances its beauty under the sunny weather.
Rajjaprabha Dam (Cheow Lan Lake) and Khao Sok National Park offer an unforgettable escape into Thailand's stunning natural landscapes. The emerald waters of the lake, punctuated by dramatic limestone karsts, create a scene of breathtaking beauty. Exploring by longtail boat is a must-do, revealing hidden coves and unique wildlife. True natural beauty unfolds across the vast Cheow Lan Lake and dramatic limestone landscapes above Rajjaprabha Dam. With deep emerald waters, floating raft accommodation, and unmatched sunrise views, it’s easy to see why it’s called “Guilin of Thailand.” Visitors can enjoy boat tours, kayaking, guided cave treks, or just relax aboard a floating lodge in serene surroundings. Accommodation ranges from basic floats to nicer raft houses—cheap, charming, and close to nature. Open daily 08:00–18:00. Located in Ban Ta Khun District, Surat Thani Province, the site is easily reachable via Highway 401 or chartered boats from nearby piers. A top highlight of Khao Sok National Park and a must-see for travelers craving breathtaking scenery and peaceful escapes.

Khao Sok National Park, located in Surat Thani province, is a vast expanse of ancient rainforest and limestone cliffs. There are a handful of must-see places in Thailand, this is one, without a doubt. Doesn't matter if it's a day trip or overnight on the floating bungalows, do not miss this. A damn built in the 80s that basically flooded a whole region, so an artificial, giant lake in a biome that would normally not have one. Witness man playing God. A beautiful park, I'd definitely recommend visiting if you're in Khao Sok!! Although everyone speaks about the lake tours as if this is the only activity in Khao Sok, we found this amazing park full of beautiful scenery of many types - a wild jungle, divine waterfalls & stunning rivers. Entrance fee is 200 baht per person, and you can either enter on your own and walk until a limited point (about 6km back & forth) or you can take a guide and walk further. If you do decide to take a guide, make sure to book them in advance. We decided to walk on our own, so we have more privacy, and it took us about 3 hours long, including some stops on the way, and dipping in the amazing Wing Hin waterfall. To conclude, if you're looking for a more unique and custom made experience in Khao Sok, this is definitely a most visit.

While I loved the park and everything about it, I'd like to bring to attention this boatman guy/ guide, and request all to avoid him to have a stress free trip. This guy speaks no English, and if he does, refuses to talk- as a guide, that is one of the major things one should do. He smoked weed/ some narcotic, made us pay for kayaking (which we had already paid for to our tour operator) - since it was only a 100Baht per person, the three of us who had booked the boat privately paid again because this guy refused to communicate. At the caves, he walked on at his own pace, shining the light randomly, and made to exit within 5 minutes. Thankfully we latched onto another group who had an English speaking guide to make sense of the wonders of the cave. We managed to click a whipping scorpion and a cricket with that group- a stark difference. After leaving the cave, he stopped in the middle of the water to light another joint, at which point we thought it a good idea to fly our professional camera drone for some photography. As soon as our drone gained some height, the boatman moved the boat forward, when we shouted at him with sign language to stop the boat. While landing the drone, since the boat had moved, the drone fell into the water, just short distance from where the boatman sat. Had he not been stoned enough, he could have moved his hand and caught the drone. The drone fell into the water, the boatman looked at the drone, looked at us, and shrugged his shoulders as if to say, your problem. The complain I wish to raise, is that this guy was so stoned, that if a human would have fallen off, he would simply have let the person drown, despite wearing a life jacket and knowing how to swim. Since we had to leave to catch our connecting flight from Phuket to Chiang Mai, we didn't have time to officially complain. In case anyone reads this, please ensure to avoid this guide. For your own well being.

The monastery and the temple are located directly on the mountain. The scenery is very impressive. The area is a bit run down and the temple is currently being restored. There is also the Buddha cave and a pool where many monkeys play. Restrooms are available Don't forget to behave respectfully, as it is not only a place of worship but also the place where the monks live and work.

30 baht per person entry. Lovely temples and the highlight was the water fountain feeding area for the monkeys, they are so chill and fun to watch.

Amazing temple right off the side of the road, entrance fee is 20 baht as of August 2024. Friendly monkeys will take banana right from your hands (banana provided by temple staff as part of fee). Take a moment to go up to the cave on the cliff. You do have to climb 6-7 very steep ladders, but it’s very pretty and worth the short climb. Barely any other people there on a Saturday afternoon.

She even did a Cookery class for us! So impressive. A highly recommended tour with Sherry. The lunch provided was truly superb. First class including vegetarian options! Pls see food video posted!!

Nice place for a short visit for like an hour. Monkeys are calm and its not crowded by tourists. If you stay in the Treehouse resort, its a good walk. We didn't have to pay, but it was a special day.
Dan R — Google review
Obviously there are a temple and monkeys but there is also a pretty big cave (took me 10 minutes of walking in one direction) with bats and interesting rock formations. Entrance fee is 20 bath. 20 bath for bananas or peanuts. The entrance to the cave is upstairs. Take a flashlight and tracking shoes if you are going to explore it.

Most amazing experience, the people were so kind and we fed the elephants lots of bananas and leaves. The elephants were clearly very loved and taken care of. The walk through the palm trees with them was so cool and at the end we had some lovely tea and biscuits and they dropped us back at the hotel!

We visited the sanctuary in April 2025. There are 3 old elephants, that are taken care of by the humans. They walk freely on the territory of the sanctuary and you can come, watch and feed them a couple times a day. Great experience of being next to these amazing creatures
Alla V — Google review
This was truly one of the most incredible experiences of our lives. At the sanctuary, we had the opportunity to care for these magnificent, gentle giants under the guidance of the sanctuary staff — or “rangers,” as I would gladly call them. The visit began with an informative session about the elephants — their nature, their past, and how many of them had been exploited by previous owners. We learned how harmful it is for elephants to be ridden or used for transportation, which sadly still happens in some places. Here, instead, we got to feed them and help wash them in the river. Getting up close to these amazing animals and interacting with them in such a respectful, natural way was truly unforgettable. One very important tip: bring clothes you don’t mind getting very dirty — think mud, water, and everything in between. Also, bring swimwear or a change of clothes. You’ll get soaked — and it’s absolutely worth it!
Fur K — Google review
Amazing experience. These elephants are so gentle. We fed them leaves and bananas, had a walk with them and just observed their behaviour. Their caretakers are also very gentle and love to explain the history of each elephant. Sadly there were 3 but one of them died 2 months ago. Take the 1,5 h tour, and support a good case.
Valerie A — Google review
Kind family that cares about the elephants. All three elephants have been rescued. The newest one had only arrived 10 days earlier and they were watching her carefully. We purchased the 1.5 hour tour and felt it was perfect for us. We took photos, touched, fed, and walked with the elephants.

Amazing experience seeing these majestic animals in their natural habitat. This ethical Elephant Sanctuary treats the elephants extremely well, not allowing bathing with or riding the elephants. They were explaining very well about the elephants and you can clearly notice they care for them a lot. Hugely recommended if you want to see elephants, and you want to do it the right way! The people from the sanctuary were also extremely helpful and friendly, offering me a ride back to my hostel. Very pleasant experience!
Camille R — Google review
I went to the Khao Sok Elephant Conservation Centre with the excitement of meeting an elephant. The experience of seeing them and feeding them for a few minutes was amazing, but I believe it should not be daily or last so long. Seeing them for just a couple of minutes is more than enough. Interactions like bathing or hugging them are not part of their natural behavior and can make the experience worse, leaving visitors with a negative impression of the centre. Tourists who truly want to care for the elephants will pay for that anyway, and you should be more conscious in this regard and avoid forced interactions. Observing them from a distance and feeding them briefly is sufficient, respecting their life and wellbeing.
Yohanna C — Google review
Very good elephant sanctuary. Elephants are old. They are treated well and taken care properly. The property is large enough to care elephants. Staffs are kind and decent. Their programmes are well organised so there is no time for wasting. Elephants stroll and move freely even staffs don’t have sticks! I also participated in their day tour for lake. It was also great and cheap!

We had a great experience, the trip was an hour long, the guide was nice and showed us some birds, lizard and snake. In the dry season the river is not high and it’s better to come after 13pm
Adi O — Google review
Really disappointed with this little Amazon tour. We bought a ticket for a canoe tour for 1000 bhat. You don’t see the river from the ticket area or we wouldn’t have bought tickets. We were then shocked to see how low the water level was. The tour guide was very friendly and nice, we do not feel it’s his fault as he wasn’t the one who sold us the tour. However, he literally had to drag the boat majority of the way as the water level was so low. We were scraped along the river bed most of the time which was very uncomfortable. He barely paddled as he had to walk pushing the canoe. We only got about half way down the river and had to turn back as the there was logs blocking the route. When we arrived back, the staff were aware how low the water level was. We asked for a partial refund, which they agreed to give us 300 bhat. Considering we only completed half of the route and we had been scraped the whole way by branches and rocks we didn’t think the refund was sufficient. We were then shocked when they offered a discount on a tour the next day! It’s ridiculous considering our experience they think we would come back and give them more money. Would not recommend.

We came in the morning, and the tide was high. We saw a few snakes sleeping in the trees, beautiful owls, a few crabs, and lots of birds and butterflies. It was a great experience. Our tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Totally worth it.

Really nice boat excursion. Saw heaps of birds and snakeswe went on a motorboat tour with our two kids but you can also get canoes. Definitely recommend! Note that there are two businesses next to each other. The other one was more expensive and aggressively tried to herd us into their premises using yellow flags.
James C — Google review
very nice tour! our guide was very nice and took us directly into the mangroves to take cute photos. Unfortunately he spoke very little to no english. We booked a couple days in advance over whatsapp.
Notorious L — Google review
We had a lovely 1 hour guided canoe trip down the river and back with Moo. He was very informative and pointed out many mangrove snakes and a python resting in the banyan trees. The two thousand bhat price was a bit on the high side for what it was but we enjoyed it.
Moyra S — Google review
At first we saw their price was 500baht per boat for kayak, and 700baht for motor boat. It was from a Thailand tourism website, but they denied. They asked for 800baht for kayak, and 1200baht for motor boat. I think after we came they changed the details of the website and the Thailand tourism website were removed from the google map. We were on with the price but just feels that we were being cheated. And the couple that talked to us were very rude. Even with no wildlife to see in the afternoon, there’s just a bunch of trees and to experience the boat trip. We managed to see 3 snakes sleeping on the branches. The reason I gave only 2 stars, it’s because of the feeling of being scammed and the rudeness of the couple. Recommend: maybe. In the morning. Don’t come in the afternoon, it has nothing to see.
Kent G — Google review
We came here with motorbike and paid 500baht for about 45 minutes on the little amazon. Our tour guide was really friendly. We saw monkeys, snakes and different birds too.It was a great experience.

The Ban Nam Khem Tsunami Memorial Center is a historical landmark located on a picturesque beach, featuring a curved concrete wall resembling a wave and adorned with a Buddha statue. The park serves as a touching tribute to the victims of the devastating tsunami. The design of the memorial center is impeccable, conveying both emotion and beauty in equal measure. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments at the small restaurant nearby, making for an all-around memorable experience.
A place filled with deep feelings of loss and hope. We visited the day before Songkham so families were there connecting with each other, eating food and remembering their loved ones. It was a very emotional visit.

Almost 20 years today, the destructive tsunami of 2014 that swept through Thailand made an impact on this small Ban Nam Khem village. Today the village housed the memorial of those perished on that faithful day. Nice beach, a restaurant and massage services for those who wished to relax by the beach.

This memorial in Ban Nam Khem, Thailand is a beautiful and moving tribute to those who were affected by the tsunami of 2004. It is a very peaceful, respectful place that honors the terrible tragedy that occurred in this part of the world. The monument is comprised of a single, tall, bronze sculpture that rises from the waters of the sea, representing a group of people, who were trying to escape the devastating tsunami. The memorial includes a plaque with the names of the victims and those who were killed or disappeared. The memorial also includes a bridge leading out to the statue that visitors can walk across to get a bird's eye view of the statue. The memorial is a touching reminder of the tragedy that took place that day and a sober reminder of the human cost of this disaster.
Wisanu T — Google review
Glad I went to visit as I think it is important to remember and acknowledge the devastation the 2004 Tsunami caused across Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka and India. The memorial is a bit run down which made me sad. A number of the plaques with people's names are faded and there were line needles collecting on them. Still glad I went to visit.
Katherine S — Google review
Definitely worth a visit, don't forget to visit the museum a couple of minutes drive around the corner too
Kyle W — Google review
This is one of the 2 memorials along the coast of Phang-Nga district that remembers the many people who lost their lives in the Tsunami on 26th December 2004. There is a park and beach near the memorial with a large Buddha, and a small Tsunami information centre. The plaques along the wall of the memorial are there to honour each of the many local villagers and overseas visitors who perished on that fateful day. My wife spoke with a local woman walking near the beach who told her how she had lost 3 family members and still to this day cannot understand why she survived. Please don’t be put off by some of the negative comments about this is place it really is somewhere to come and reflect on the terrible tragedy, honour the loss of so many lives and a great example of nature’s awesome power.

It was really nice time there. For 1.5h we were feeding, washing and putting mud on skin of elephant for 2000 baths (2 adults + child). After all activities there was also fruit dessert +water. Owners are not speaking English, but with hands and images we showed what we want. Elephant seems to have there good conditions to live. From minuses owners are offering riding (that we didn't take)
Mateusz P — Google review
I would give no stars if I could. It was a heartbreaking experience. Don’t believe the positive reviews and comments of ignorant people who can’t see the animal suffering. While the man who was controlling the elephant seemed nice, the elephant is mistreated and abused daily. Poor Tongdee was dragged into the water by her ear and we were given brushes and a bowl to brush and bathe her (against her will). We were told to go and sit on her but we refused. Then she was taken out of the water and we were told to pay for the fruit to feed her. Please don’t support this elephant imprisonment camp.
Eadaoin C — Google review
Do not support this place! The elephant here is chained up, and it's heartbreaking to see it treated this way. They offer elephant ride, which are known to cause immense stress and physical harm to these beautiful animals. If you love elephants, support ethical sanctuaries that prioritize their well-being rather than abuse them for entertainment...
Flo D — Google review
Do not go here or to any elephant parks. I cannot believe that people think it's ok to ride elephants! It's beyond cruel, imagine how much they are suffering. Bathing elephants ALL DAY until their skin is sore for human entertainment is sick Please go to a sanctuary instead where you're not allowed to touch the elephants.
Natasha B — Google review
Absolutelly amazing time. Run by super friendly and honest family. Had a ride on 2 elephants hagled and got for 2000 baht for 2 kids and 2 adults for about 40 min ride. And extra 50baht for feeding (basket of bannanas) (Other camp next door asked 3500baht just for 20min ride). This camp have 2 elephants one of them named Tongdee, both as owner said about 40 years old and clever, have not seen to be touched with stick, they listen to voice commands and do as asked. Owner very friendly told a lot things about camp and elephants, like grown up ones eats 300kg daily and cost quite a lot to keep them. Not crowded place, feels like private tour. We got there by rented car. Even got picture together with his family. Verry recomended. While wated for elephants to be ready we were offered some fruits, pineaple, cofe, cold water, bisquits. Amazing 5* service. Kids loved so much, we had such amazing time. Would give even more stars if could :)

Wat Rat Uppatham, also known as Wat Bang Riang, is a stunning temple complex located in southern Thailand. Perched atop Khao Lan Hill in the Thap Put region, this temple is famous for its giant seated Buddha statue and a statue of Kuan Im, the Goddess of Mercy. Visitors are drawn to the temple in hopes of receiving blessings for good luck.
Absolutely beautiful temple complex. A bit tricky to get to, but absolutely worth it. Leave enough time to walk to the Goddess of Mercy and golden Buddha if you can. Cute cafe for refreshments and lots of parking.

The most beautiful place! There are 2 spots - wat at the begining of the hill (great boat with temple) and wat on top of the hill. They are close, but not in the same place. If you like to go where is amazing view you should take left road (when you are staying in front of first wat with boat).
Dasha L — Google review
Wat Bang Rieng Temple, is one of the most beautiful temple complexes in southern Thailand. After a winding ascent along a narrow mountain road you will be greeted by long stairwell adorned with serpents (Named Naga) which make up both sides of the walk way leading to the temple. The main temple building of Chedi Rat Uppatham is positioned at a height of over 100 meters. Sitting below there is a statue of a golden Buddha with snakes and a statue of the goddess of mercy Guanyin (Guan Yin), complete with it's own meditation room where the monks come to pay respect and meditate. The construction of the complex began at the behest of the King of Thailand, Rama 9 in 1986. The courtyard of this temple is decorated in traditional Thai style, and here you can see the various mythical creatures of the three-headed elephant Erawan, yakshas and the Garuda bird. From the courtyard you can enter Chedi, where the Buddha’s relics are located. Chedi is located on a high hill, so there opens a great view of the sitting Buddha statue and the Guanin statue against the background of the surrounding mountains and banana plantations. The inside is elaborately decorated with historical and culturally significant artwork central to the Buddhist religion. This temple is truly something to behold providing diverse architecture, numerous points of interest and amazing views. Well worth the visit. Remember to show respect and wear shirts that cover the shoulders and preferably longer shorts that come to knee length. If you don't have any of this with you then the temple has some pyjama style pants you can slip on.

We had the privilege of visiting a truly breathtaking Buddhist temple — an awe-inspiring space of peace, beauty, and architectural wonder. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was serene and welcoming, with beautifully manicured gardens, towering statues, and intricate carvings adorning every corner. The scale of the temple was incredible — vast open courtyards, expansive halls, and towering pagodas that seem to touch the sky. Every detail, from the delicate gold leaf work to the peaceful sound of chanting in the background, made the visit feel sacred and deeply moving. Whether you're spiritual or simply appreciate history, culture, and beauty, this temple is a must-visit. A truly unforgettable experience that leaves you feeling lighter, more centered, and incredibly grateful.

The place is incredible!! It's really unique, I've never seen such a place before ! You have to pay 50 bath per person for tourists to go in the main temple, it really worth it ! We went on a Sunday and it was super calm ! I really recommend the place. It's something so unique to see 🤩 You have one big temple but also a lot of other temples to check... it was too bad because a lot were in construction but you can still take a look at them from the outside, which is impressive to see! We got to see an elephant as well, it was so fun!

Breathtaking wat! We went for river rafting and on the way back our driver suggested to visit this beautiful temple. This Buddha temple a spectacular giant golden tower surrounded by many other interesting buildings, and covering a very large area, the temple features a prominent central Buddha statue and a surrounding walkway encircling the stupa on all four sides. Inside the temple, there are exquisite mural paintings depicting Buddhist stories adorned with delicate Thai bird motifs, creating a captivating atmosphere. You can see lots of statues along with Buddha, statues are mixed of Thai and Indian gods. Very beautiful and impressive. There is a nice cafe outside the temple for a break. Nearby there is also a food market, and when we visited it was not too busy there were only 5-6 people. It looked like a newly built temple and the left side building was still under construction. Amazing place with a lot to see. We spent almost 45 minutes in the temple, it’s very calm and relaxing place, we had a great time over there. It takes about an hour from Krabi but well worth a visit. The architecture is breathtaking. There was a baby elephant, we took photos with him and got kisses from baby elephant. They have very clean restrooms outside the temple.

One of the most wonderful temples I ever seen in my life. You will be amazed seeing it. It is huge and surreal with the colors and the unique architecture. The ticket is 50 bTh per person and Thank to previous review, we had socks on and felt much better from the ground heat as you have to leave your shoes outside. The main temple is huge that you take at least 45 minutes to walk around and see how amazing it is . There are also some others smaller constructions they are building more. Remember to dress properly when you visit the temple

A must see! This place is epic, such a beautiful temple complex. It was one of the most peaceful places I've been too. Before entering the complex go eat at the local restaurant on the left side of the road before entering the gate. Food is amazing and the owner is super lovely. I spent several hours walking around the temple complex.

I had the pleasure of visiting Wat Maha That Wachiramongkol, better known as Wat Bang Thong, and all I can say is that it was an unforgettable experience. The majestic architecture of the temple is simply breathtaking. The large stupa in particular, which shines in gold and white colors, immediately catches the eye and conveys a feeling of peace and spirituality. The entire complex is very well maintained and exudes a calm atmosphere that invites you to linger. The location is also perfect for exploring the surrounding area. The lush gardens and surrounding landscapes offer many photo opportunities and create a harmonious connection with nature. Overall, I can only highly recommend Wat Bang Thong. Whether you are looking for spiritual enlightenment or just want to admire the impressive architecture - this temple will not disappoint. A visit absolutely worthwhile!

A very impressive renovated temple with the tallest pagoda in southern Thailand, reaching a height of 95 meters. Inside, the pagoda is decorated with many colorful and beautiful murals. Hundreds of sitting Buddha statues representing his reincarnations. You must get off your shoes before the entering the Pagoda's complex, so bring the socks because the ground too hot.
