Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Nestled on the SherKaDandahill hilltop in Nainital City, Uttarakhand, G B Pant High Altitude Zoo is a 4.592-hectare zoo that sits at an elevation of about 2100 meters. Established in 1980 and opened to the public in 1995, this zoo is managed by Bharat Ratna G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo Management Society.
G B Pant High Altitude Zoo is an absolute must-visit and genuinely worth the entry fee! This beautifully maintained zoo offers a fantastic experience. The main attractions definitely delivered, especially getting to see the magnificent Royal Bengal Tiger and those incredibly cute Red Pandas up close. They also have an impressive array of Leopards, along with several species of Himalayan goats and sheep, like the striking Blue Sheep. While not huge, its mountain setting means sloped paths, which adds to the unique high-altitude feel, though elderly visitors might find it a bit challenging. I spent a relaxed 2-3 hours exploring everything thoroughly. A fantastic day out!
Vaibhav V — Google review
Well maintained zoo , if coming by foot be prepared for the good work out for legs. Tough for elderly people and heavy person. Very steep climb take car. Once you reach you have nice view of lake.
Ajeet K — Google review
Zoo is located on a peak accessible only through shuttles operating infront of India hotel on mall road. There's lot of walking and steep accent there no caddy available, therefore I would suggest avoiding aged people OT people who are not comfortable with heavy cardio. Overall zoo have decent number of species and animals are quite active.
Nishant B — Google review
Frankly, the zoo is nice, if you like climbing hills. I found it strenuous. You have to walk uphill quite a lot to reach the tickets counter and then inside the zoo more climbing. I enjoyed watching the tigers, leopards and red pandas and some mountain goats and deers. But many of the cages were empty. Sometimes only after a steep climb to an enclosure you realise that there is nothing there. Still I liked what I saw though I was really tired with all that climbing up.

Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo, Nainital – A Unique Hillside Experience The Nainital Zoo is located on a scenic hilltop, accessible only via shuttle services operating in front of Hotel India on Mall Road. 🚐 The route is quite steep, and there’s a fair bit of walking involved — so it may not be suitable for elderly visitors or anyone uncomfortable with heavy uphill walks (no caddies or private vehicles allowed). Once you reach the top, you’ll find a well-maintained zoo with a decent variety of animals and birds — from Himalayan bears and leopards to barking deer and colorful pheasants. The enclosures are clean, and most animals appear active and healthy. 🦌🐆 The fresh mountain air and peaceful surroundings make the visit enjoyable and educational, especially for families and children. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes and carry water for the climb!
Yaduveer S — Google review
Mesmerizing views of the Himalayas and a variety of animals make G B Pant High Altitude Zoo a must-visit in Nainital! 🏔️🐯 Stunning sunset views, well-maintained enclosures, tiger and a peaceful atmosphere. A great place to connect with nature and unwind. Highly recommended! 😊 What to Expect: - A variety of animals, including Bengal tigers, leopards, red pandas, Himalayan black bears, and several bird species Tips and Reviews: - Be prepared for a steep climb to reach the zoo - Wear comfortable walking shoes, as there's a lot of walking involved. - You can encounter with Langoors on the way from the cab dropping point to the ticket counter. Ticket Price - INR 150 / person Route - Cab is available from the Church area at the Mall road. Cab cost - INR 70/ person. Cafeteria: Available inside the Zoo
Travel D — Google review
The Nainital Zoo is located at a very high point. From Mall Road, you can take a cab service that charges ₹70 per person and drops you near the entry area. After that, you still have to walk quite a bit uphill to reach the ticket counter, where the ticket price is ₹150 per person. Once you enter the zoo, you first get to see some beautiful birds, followed by the Bengal tiger and many other animals. Since the zoo is situated at a high altitude, you have to keep walking uphill inside as well. If you have elderly people with you, it’s better not to take them along due to the steep climb. Apart from that, the zoo is surrounded by nature and the peaceful environment really wins your heart.

Tiffin Top offers stunning hilltop views, ideal for trekking, picnics, and photography. Peaceful, scenic, and worth the short hike.😍🚀❤️✨
Iswar K — Google review
If you're in Nainital and craving more than just lakes and boating, Tiffin Top (also known as Dorothy’s Seat) is a perfect escape into the hills. It’s not overcrowded, not too commercial, and offers a panoramic view of Nainital town, the lake, and the Himalayan range—especially on a clear day. This spot truly feels like a hidden picnic patch carved out by nature, meant for those who enjoy peace, panoramic views, and a little bit of effort. 🧭 How to Reach / Transportation: Option 1: Trekking (most popular & rewarding) !Ticket price is 50 rupees per head by walking !Ticket price with horse ride 100rupees per head Starting Point: Ayarpatta / Sherwood College area Distance: ~4 km uphill from Mallital (one way) Time Required: 40 to 90 minutes depending on fitness level and weather Trail is shaded with trees, birds chirping, and occasional monkeys (don’t carry loose food in hand). Option 2: Horse Ride Available near Cave Garden or Mallital Cost: ₹600–₹800 (round trip, may vary seasonally) Great option for those who can’t hike but still want the view Option 3: By Car (partial) You can drive or take a local taxi up to a point, then walk ~15–20 minutes Roads are narrow and parking is limited 🌄 What You’ll See at the Top: A beautiful stone bench (Dorothy’s Seat) made in memory of an English artist who died in a plane crash. A large open area surrounded by trees—ideal for a tiffin picnic, reading, or simply sitting in silence. Breathtaking views of Nainital Lake, forest ridges, and the Kumaon hills. On clear mornings, you may even glimpse snow-capped peaks in the distance. ⚠️ Trekking Precautions: 🥾 Wear proper shoes – trail can be slippery during monsoon. 💧 Carry water – there are no vendors once you’re on the trail. 🧥 Bring a light jacket or shawl – weather turns cool quickly, even in summer. 🕒 Start early (before 10 AM) – for best views and to avoid afternoon cloud cover or fog. 🐒 Avoid feeding monkeys – they can get aggressive. 🍃 Why Tiffin Top is Special: Unlike commercial viewpoints, this one offers quiet beauty, not chaos. It’s ideal for travelers who: Want a calm place to sit and enjoy nature Love photography, sketching, or meditation Prefer nature over noise Tiffin Top is not for the lazy tourist. It’s for the nature lover. You won’t find stalls, music, or crowd selfies here. You’ll find wind through the trees, raw mountain air, a story in every stone, and a view that makes the climb worth it. Go for the hike. Stay for the peace. Return with calm.

Great Trail. You can reach the top either by horses or by foot. Would highly recommend by foot. I did after heavy rainfall and didn't faced any issue. Well maintained and there is shops on top too. Very genuine and nice people. Slopes somewhere are slippery. Wouldn't recommend for people with knee issue or senior citizen
Ariyan S — Google review
Frankly the Tiffin Top is one of the most beautiful treks I've ever had. I didn't give a five star rating only because there are no directions anywhere on the way and I had serious doubt which way to take at least in one juction where I saw some people taking the wrong route. Apart from that, the king cobble stone path to the top is good enough to walk and it is not too steep. I went in the rainy season in August, there were very few visitors and so the ticket counter was closed. Otherwise you need to buy a ticket for ₹ 50. Several reviews mentioned monkeys but I saw none on the way, probably also because it was not tourist season. Thank God it did not rain. Otherwise the trek would have been difficult. The view from the top is really beautiful but you need to be careful up there as there are no barricades. I think they are building some. There are two restaurants in the top where you can buy water to tea to soft drinks and even full meals. Of course it's expensive. I really enjoyed the trek all the way from the lake.
Sajeev J — Google review
Good tracking path with panoramic view on the top. We had a chance to visit Tiffin top this last month and it turned out nice tracking for us . Let me start from the beginning. We were just roaming around and checking the beautiful villas. Most of them were magnificent in their architecture. After few minutes we come across a blue sign board with Tiffin Top written on it. The weather was not good for track ans we were all no prepared for any tracking hence we decided to pass and walk further. After walking for an half an hour we reached to second point which was bit rough and less construct than the previous one. Btw, There are two tracks to reach on the top and that was the second one. We were skeptical but thought to check hence we embarked to move on the track. If you are fond of Snail the second track would be better for you. While tracking we witnessed beautiful curve and breathtaking mansion view on the way to tiffin top. Those villa were like we have all seen in movies, maybe some of us have seem in horror one. Anyway, the place is nice and track is too. Although the tiffin top is damaged now and has less space to seat relax
Rahul K — Google review
Absolutely loved the experience at Tiffin Top! It’s a peaceful and scenic viewpoint that gives a breathtaking panoramic view of Nainital and the surrounding hills. The walk up is a bit steep but totally worth it — you can go by foot, horseback. 50 rupees entry fees per person. The best time to visit is early morning or just before sunset when the skies are clear. The place is not as crowded as Naini Lake or Snow View, so you really get to enjoy nature in silence. There are also some snack stalls nearby if you need a quick bite. If you’re a nature lover or into photography, this is a must-visit spot in Nainital. Don’t forget your camera!
Wasim S — Google review
A truly great trail with beautiful surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. You can reach the top either on foot or by horse, but I would highly recommend walking — it’s an amazing experience! I did this trek after heavy rainfall and didn’t face any issues. The path is well maintained, and there are a few small shops at the top for refreshments. The local people are very kind, genuine, and helpful, which makes the journey even better. Some slopes can be slippery, so do be careful — it’s not ideal for people with knee problems or senior citizens. Overall, a wonderful trail for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. 🌿
Yaduveer S — Google review
The sunrise point is exceptionally beautiful, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. The trek is approximately 1.5 kilometers, with a somewhat steep incline, but the experience is certainly worthwhile.

I visited this lake multiple times and in all seasons but the rainy season took my heart. The misty lake looks even more beautiful. Boating is okay but the view was amazing.

Nainital Lake, nestled in the heart of the charming hill station of Nainital, is truly a gem of Uttarakhand and an unmissable destination for any traveler seeking tranquility and scenic beauty. The moment you arrive at the lake, its emerald-green waters reflecting the surrounding hills instantly capture your heart. Surrounded by lush mountains dotted with colorful cottages and pine forests, the lake offers a postcard-perfect view that feels almost surreal. Boating on Nainital Lake is an absolute delight and one of the most memorable experiences here. Whether you choose a paddle boat or a traditional rowing boat, the gentle ripples of the water and the cool mountain breeze make it a soothing ride. As you glide through the lake, you can see the famous Naina Devi Temple on one side and the bustling Mall Road on the other, adding a perfect mix of serenity and liveliness to the experience. In the evenings, the lake transforms into a dreamlike spectacle. The shimmering reflections of the streetlights and the colorful shops along Mall Road create a magical ambiance that feels straight out of a fairytale. The surrounding cafes and local eateries serve delicious momos, hot tea, and snacks, making the lakeside strolls even more enjoyable. The panoramic views from Snow View Point and Tiffin Top add another layer of beauty to the Nainital experience, offering breathtaking perspectives of the lake from above. Whether you’re a solo traveler seeking peace, a couple on a romantic getaway, or a family looking for a fun retreat, Nainital Lake never disappoints. It’s a place where nature and serenity embrace you completely—making it one of the most picturesque and soul-soothing destinations in the Indian Himalayas.

SATYAPRAKASH S — Google review
Naini Lake, the heart and soul of Nainital, is a breathtaking natural freshwater body nestled amidst seven lush hills in the Kumaon Himalayas. Its distinctive mango or crescent shape and tranquil, shimmering waters immediately capture the visitor’s eye, making it the focal point of this popular hill station. The Scenic Splendour and Ambiance The sheer beauty of the lake is undeniable. Surrounded by the colonial-era architecture of Mallital (north side) and Tallital (south side), the panorama is stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. . The hills—capped with pine, deodar, and oak trees—provide a majestic backdrop, creating a cool, peaceful atmosphere that is a much-needed escape from city life. Walking along the Mall Road promenade that runs parallel to the lake is a favored activity, allowing tourists to soak in the beauty and the bustling yet relaxed town culture. Tourist Experience and Activities The main draw of Naini Lake is, without a doubt, boating. Visitors have the choice of various watercraft: Row Boats: Typically charged for a half-round or full-round, these are popular for a relaxed ride, as a boatman rows for you. A half-round usually costs around ₹160 and a full round ₹210 (prices are approximate and can vary). Paddle Boats: Ideal for couples or those who enjoy a bit of light exercise, charges are generally around ₹210 per hour. Boating hours are typically from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the early morning and late evening offering the most photogenic light and serene experience. Beyond boating, the lake acts as a hub for other attractions, including the nearby Naina Devi Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, lending the area a profound religious and historical significance. A cable car ride near the lake offers a panoramic bird's-eye view of the emerald-green waters and the surrounding peaks. Mythology and Historical Context The lake’s mystique is deepened by its mythological roots. It is believed to be the site where the eye ( Nain ) of Goddess Sati fell after her immolation, giving the lake its name (Naini-tal, or 'lake of the eye'). This legend solidifies the area's sanctity. Historically, the town was 'discovered' by the British in 1841 by P. Barron, who was so taken by the spot that he established a European colony here, turning it into the summer seat of the North-Western Provinces, adding a distinct colonial charm to the lakefront. The Downside While breathtaking, the lake's overwhelming popularity means the area, especially Mall Road, can get severely crowded during peak tourist season and holidays. This can detract from the intended 'peaceful' experience. Furthermore, like many heavily visited sites, concerns about cleanliness and water quality are sometimes raised, highlighting the need for stricter environmental protection and maintenance to preserve its natural beauty. In conclusion, Naini Lake is an essential destination that fully lives up to its reputation as a stunning Himalayan lake resort. Its blend of scenic beauty, engaging activities, and deep-rooted mythology makes it an unforgettable experience, provided visitors are prepared to navigate the crowds during high season.

Shree Maa Naina Devi Temple, Nainital

Nestled near Nainital Lake, the Shree Maa Naina Devi Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Naina Devi and is known for its colorful shrines and associated mythological stories. Visitors can also enjoy a cable car ride to Snow View observation point for stunning vistas of the town and surrounding mountains, including Nanda Devi, the highest peak in Uttarakhand.
🛕 Naina Devi Temple, Nainital – A Divine Presence Beyond Words I recently visited Naina Devi Temple in Nainital, and I can confidently say—this is not just a temple, it's a powerful spiritual experience that stays with you long after you leave. Right from the moment you step through the entrance arch, there’s something in the air—peace, divinity, and a sense of stillness that instantly calms your heart. The temple is located at the northern end of Naini Lake, and as you climb the short steps, you’re greeted by bells, incense, and the soft chants that echo around the space. Honestly, I didn’t take any photos or videos—not because I forgot, but because I couldn’t. Sometimes, there are places where your phone automatically takes a backseat. I felt so connected and in the moment that capturing it digitally didn’t even cross my mind. You have to go and feel it yourself. Important Note (Real Info Alert!) Don't trust Google Maps for the timings—it’s outdated or just plain wrong. 🕔 The temple opens at 5:00 AM with the morning aarti 🕖 Closes by 7:00 PM sharp — after which the main gates are closed, and no one is allowed in. I saw many people disappointed who came relying on online timings. So, plan accordingly. Inside, the temple is simple yet soul-touching. The main deity, Goddess Naina Devi, is beautifully adorned, and the energy inside the sanctum is intense. There’s also a Hanumanji and Ganeshji murti beside, with hundreds of bells tied by devotees. Offerings like prasad and flowers are available just outside, and the pandas (priests) are polite—not pushy. Other Info: The view of the Naini Lake from the temple compound is stunning—especially around sunset. It gets a bit crowded on weekends and during aarti hours. Shoes must be left outside (there's a counter). Prasad is simple, fresh, and blessed (I took some home for family). Final Words: If you’re in Nainital, don’t miss this temple. Not for the photos, not for sightseeing, but for the calm, the blessings, and the rare feeling of stillness it gives you. Naina Devi isn’t just a place, she’s a presence.

I want to express my heartfelt congratulation and best wishes on the occasion of 'Nanda Ashtami', the festival that celebrates the worship of Goddess Nanda-Sunanda, the leading deity of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. I always suggest visiting Nainital for the Nanda Devi Mela, which is something I always recommend. Being a part of the Nanda Devi Mela is something I am always grateful for.

Naina Devi Temple is a quiet and peaceful place with great mythological significance for Hindus. The temple management is very good, polite, and well-organized. We visited during the Nanda Devi festival, when the entire area was filled with vibrant energy and a lively fair (mela) was organized as part of the celebrations. During festivals, the temple timings are extended till 10 pm, allowing devotees more time for darshan. It is truly a must-visit place in Nainital, offering both spiritual serenity and cultural vibrance.

Great experience to enter those cave.. old caves where you can experience how earlier people used to live also animals too. Can't much explain in words you can feel this by yourself

A must-visit attraction in Nainital, enjoyable for both adults and children. The natural caves are easy to navigate with kids, though the last one—called the Ape Cave—is a bit challenging and the most fun. By the end, you’ll feel truly satisfied with the experience.

Chauli Ki Jali is a popular hiking spot and scenic overlook located high atop a cliff with a sheer drop and a historic temple, Mukteshwar. It offers picturesque views of the mountains and the Kumaon Valley. Visitors can walk along the rocky path next to the temple to reach a cluster of cliffs where they can spend time observing Himalayan eagles, trying adventure sports like zip-lining, rock-climbing, and rappelling.
This place near Mukteshwar mahadev temple ant it's an amazing place giving an awesome view but be careful with height and also you take ride of rope slide like zip line.

Breathtaking Views at Chauli ki Jali, Mukteshwar! Chauli ki Jali is one of the most stunning viewpoints in Mukteshwar. Perched on a cliffside near the Mukteshwar Temple, it offers spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges and deep valleys below. The experience of standing at the edge and watching the vast landscapes is absolutely thrilling and unforgettable. The place is also known for its mythological and historical significance, which adds to its charm. It’s a great spot for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers, and the unique rock formations make it even more fascinating. Whether you go for the mesmerizing sunrise/sunset views or just to soak in the natural beauty, Chauli ki Jali is a place you simply cannot miss while visiting Mukteshwar.

Chauli Ki Jali, located behind the Mukteshwar Temple in Uttarakhand, is one of the most beautiful and adventurous viewpoints in the region. Perched at an altitude of about 2,500 meters, it offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges and the deep valleys below. The site is famous for its naturally formed rock wall with holes (“Jali” means net or lattice), which adds a unique charm to the spot. According to local legends, Goddess Kali fought a demon here, and the marks on the rocks are believed to be from that battle. It’s also a popular destination for adventure lovers who enjoy rock climbing and rappelling. The combination of spiritual significance, natural beauty, and thrilling experiences makes Chauli Ki Jali a must-visit spot in Mukteshwar.

It's scenic and I think the only most visited place and attraction in Mukhteshwar, overcrowded no parking at all in season. Long traffic for cars.

If you already went to places like waichin valley, Tosh, munsyari, ladakh etc. this one may not impress you. However, sunset from the cliff is impressive and now the zipline is also added (fare 500 pp). Walking distance (5 minutes) from Mukteshwar mahadev mandir.
Ashish K — Google review
This place is situated just beside the Mukteshwar Dham Temple. There is walkway just beside the entry of the temple that leads you to this place. On the entry to the walkway, you have small open shops and eateries where you can munch on Samosa, Kachori, Fruit Chat, Rajma Chawal, Dal Chawal and much more. You need to walk around 500 mts before you reach this place and once you reach there are more eateries. There are even two ziplines if you are someone who loves thrill. The place is now heavily commercialized and that's my first complain with this scenic place. Chauli ki Jhali is essentially a mountain cliff which gives you breath-taking views of Himalayas and there is no wonder this place is so popular but due to heavy commercialization the place is very dirty and too crowded. You can spend good 15-20 mins here taking back the mesmerizing views the place has to offer. Also dno't forget to click some pics on the first cliff just when you enter the area. That spot is a good one. Totally recommened and more so in off season.

Sights & Landmarks
Mukteshwar Dham Temple is a must-visit iconic place in Mukteshwar, located about 40 km from Nainital. The temple, with its historical significance linked to the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, sits amidst beautiful deodar forests and offers a pleasant climate throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy not only the spiritual experience of the ancient Shiva temple but also breathtaking views after a short climb.
Mukteshwar Dham is a serene and spiritually uplifting destination nestled in the hills of Uttarakhand. It is also one of the Shakti Peeth. Beyond its spiritual importance, the temple also offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys — a true visual treat. To reach the main shrine, you’ll need to climb a decent number of stairs, but the journey is worth it. During peak times, there are arrangements like scooty or bike rides available for those who prefer not to walk. On regular days, cars can comfortably reach up to the temple’s entrance. Mukteshwar Dham is a must-visit.

Peaceful and Divine Experience at Mukteshwar Dham Temple Mukteshwar Dham Temple is a must-visit spiritual spot in Mukteshwar and is considered to be one of the Shaktipeeths, which makes it even more sacred. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple has a strong spiritual aura that instantly fills you with peace and positivity. To reach the temple, you need to climb a series of stairs from the main road, and the short ascent feels refreshing amidst the natural surroundings. Once at the top, the atmosphere is serene and divine. Apart from its religious significance, the temple offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas – truly mesmerizing and soul-soothing.

“Mukteshwar Dham is one of the most peaceful and divine temples I have ever visited. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is situated on a hilltop and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The atmosphere here is calm, spiritual and full of positive energy. The temple is clean, well-maintained and perfect for meditation and prayers. Early morning darshan is especially blissful. A must-visit place in Mukteshwar for devotees as well as nature lovers.”
Ravindra P — Google review
Great holy temple of Lord Shiva. Around 350 yrs old. We need to ascend some 136 steps but the temple and view from top is worth it. Chauli ki jaali too is near by to this place.
Anurag S — Google review
A serene temple with breathtaking views—but be prepared for a bit of a hike! Mukteshwar Dham Temple is truly a peaceful and spiritually uplifting place, perched right at the top of Mukteshwar. The view from up there is absolutely stunning—calm, serene, and perfect for some quiet reflection. The temple itself has a divine energy, and even though it can get a bit crowded, the overall experience is still incredibly soothing. That said, one thing to be aware of is the parking situation. Cops won’t allow you to drive all the way up to avoid traffic jams, so you’ll have to park about 1.5 km before the temple. From there, you have two choices: either enjoy a moderately steep uphill walk or hop on a scooter offered by local riders, which usually costs ₹50–₹100 for the ride to the top. The walk can be a bit of a challenge, especially for elderly people or those not used to walking uphill, so plan accordingly. Despite this small inconvenience, the view and the temple make it absolutely worth the effort.

Holi place in Nainital district of Uttarakhand about 57 kilometers drive from Nainital city. Temple of Mukeshwar Mahadev. Excellent view of snow peaks from Mukteshwar. Many luxury hotels are available there. There was apple orchards on the way. Temple is situated at the top of Mukteshwar.
Anindya P — Google review
If possible, AVOID going to the temple on weekends, especially during peak season. The cab-wallahs will not tell you that the cabs will be stopped about 2 kms before the temple, and then you will either have to walk all the way through a nightmarish traffic or hire a two-wheeler to cover that distance. You will end up paying 2500/- to the cab-wallah (from Kasiyalekh) and then either walk 2 kms (one way) to the temple or pay another 200/- to the two-wheeler-wallah (for one person) for riding one way. So, if you are a group of 4, you will have to shell out another 1600/- if you choose to take the two-wheeler ride for all, both ways. The locals exploit the situation, but the administration is not bothered. If you choose to go in a self driven vehicle, be prepared to get mad. If you are only 2 in a group, a better way would be to hire a two-wheeler to the temple from Kasiyalekh instead of going there in a four- wheeler. But, we were told that on weekdays the situation is not so bad. We visited this place on Saturday, 21 June 2025. I tried to find some peace, serenity, and calmness at the temple but failed miserably. The covered concrete steps to the temple are a recent construction (although it has definitely ruined the beauty of the natural surroundings of the temple). Before, it used to be a hike to the temple through the jungle around.

PWD Inspection House

Road construction company
Sights & Landmarks
Architectural Buildings
Nestled in the picturesque Mukteshwar, the PWD Inspection House is a heritage gem that offers an enchanting stay steeped in history. Once frequented by the legendary Jim Corbett during his quest to hunt a notorious man-eater back in 1929, this charming bungalow has been transformed into a delightful guest house managed by KMVN.
This heritage property has been taken over by KMVN few years back, so now any body can book it. Legendary Jim Corbett stayed here when he came to kill the man-eater of Uttarakhand. That was 1929, almost 100 years back. This makes the stay in the PWD GH more exciting. Mukteshwar has its own beauty. But this guest house is even more beautiful. It feels heavenly. Very close to Delhi, about 8 hours drive including break for food etc. Due to this reason it remains booked for the entire year. Avoid holiday seasons and weekends when there is extra rush. Now let's talk about the property and beauty of nature. It's a very old building made from wood. With old styled wooden sloping roof, extended box glass window, full wooden walls you have modern day beds, toilet, furniture. You will feel very relaxed and comfortable. Glass window gives a near 180 degree view of the himalayan ice caps. There is a lawn in front of the guest house which offers unobstructed view of the snow clad mountains. We stayed there for 3 nights and didn't do any sight seeing. All that we went there for was in front of us. You will never get bored of looking at the snow clad mountain range. Food is good. Staff is helpful. KMVN tourist lodge is located across the road. It's a modern day building but does not offer same view. However, the kitchen and dining hall is there. So you have to walk about 100 meters up the slope or about 30 steep steps to have your breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure that you book room no 4 here. It's the best.

Has a beautiful view of the Himalaya. On a clear day you would be able to see a almost a 360 degree view of the valley and range. Very close to the Chauli ki jali and Mukteshwara Dham Temple. Go there check out the view and just relax and soak in the beauty with a cup of warm coffee. I just wish we were there on a day with clear weather.

The area around this place has lot of attraction. The first is mukteshvar mahadev temple. It is at a height of 8200 feet. It's a very old and famous temple and visited by thousands of people. Next to it is chauli ki jaali which has a straight fall of 1000 ft. You can enjoy rope diving here.

A small treak from chauli ki jali leads you to pwd inspection house and it’s beautiful since the local people had tried to keep it clean. There is also an public convenience (sulabh restrooms) available (payments to be done ) they water is scarce so most of time no waters in restrooms. Must watch for the seven peaks watch.

Heritage Hotel with amazing views. The bungalow is old fashioned which was once a heritage site. Now it is run by KMVN as a hotel. The luxury rooms are well kept and the staff is courteous. Breakfast and Dinner are included in room tariff. The food is delicious and home-style. There is a nice lawn/garden. The view is amazing. Mornings are very special very bird chirping and the scenic beauty of sunrise hitting the top of snow bounded mountains. Just grab a cup of tea and enjoy a nature.

This is a must visit attraction of Mukteshwar which shouldn't be missed . The history of this banglow is directly related to Jim Corbett himself . And one can stay in the property too having prior booking . The Himalayan peaks are very clearly visible from here till Nepal . Such beauty isn't visible from Any point . The height of this place is around 7500 feet . Nanda devi peaks and almora are in straight line of sight . The details of all the visible peaks are also mentioned from the view point which is very educative for young kids .
Jeevan T — Google review
The inspection bungalow is famous for its view of the mountain ranges. It is one of the places to visit for the view of mountain ranges and if you are lucky with the weather (no cloudy day) then you can cherish the amazing view of Trishul, Nanda ghunti, and even panchahuli peaks. So this place has no parking lot as such you have to park your vehicle outside the gate of the bungalow on the road itself. Then you can enter the bungalow and reach towards the open ground with wooden sitting benches and a table. And the viewpoint from where you can click the photographs and cherish the majestic view of peaks. The garden is well maintained and planted with so many beautiful Dahlia and gladiolus flowers. So this place also provides or serves you as a guest house, if you want to stay there you can book rooms from the kmvn website. And if you are not staying here then you can also come to this place just to admire the view with a cup of chai and coffee and pakoras. Yes, they also have a little canteen so they serve as per their menu. We enjoyed our view with chai and pakoras do visit this place and admire the majestic view.

The area around the temple also offers a variety of vegetarian dishes and is known for its apple orchards at Chaubatia Gardens.
Very nice place, situated in the hills of Ranikhet nearby military area. Photography is generally prohibited outside the temple but no restrictions within the temple. Good to see an uncountable number of locks hanging around the temple(as a result of people getting their wishes fulfilled) ❤️

Another must visit temple for any devout hindu visiting Ranikhet & it has a huge reverence. Visit, seek a manokamna & upon realisation of your wish revisit and tie a temple bell on the temple premises. It's very nice!!
Aditya S — Google review
The architecture isn't spectacular, but it's antiquity dates back 700 years according to local lore. The current structure, of course, is more recent in origin and dates to the last century. It's quaintness lies in its thousands of bells, big and small, along the walls of the temples and inside, donated by grateful worshippers. People come here to get their new vehicles blessed!
Saurabh — Google review
The experience was wonderful! The place has an incredible sense of peace and tranquility. Although this temple is often associated with Ranikhet, it’s actually located quite far from there — in a serene, isolated spot right beside the Army Jat Regiment check post. Just 3–4 km from the temple, you can also explore a beautiful garden in choubatia, which is said to be the second largest of its kind in Asia.

While the architecture of Jhula Devi Temple may not be grand or ornate, its antiquity and spiritual significance make it one of Ranikhet’s most cherished landmarks. According to local lore, the temple’s origins date back nearly 700 years, though the current structure was built in the last century. What truly makes this temple special are the thousands of brass bells — big and small — adorning its walls and ceilings. Each bell has been offered by a devotee in gratitude, symbolizing wishes fulfilled and prayers answered. The gentle sound of the bells swaying in the mountain breeze gives the temple a truly divine and peaceful aura. 🔔🌿 It’s a tradition among locals and travelers to visit the temple to seek blessings for new vehicles, symbolizing safety and good fortune. The energy here feels both sacred and timeless — a blend of faith, history, and the mountain spirit of Kumaon. If you’re in Ranikhet, Jhula Devi Temple is not just a place to visit — it’s a place to feel. 🙏

Visiting Patal Bhuvaneshwar Cave Temple was an absolutely divine and mesmerizing experience. The cave’s intricate natural rock formations and spiritual significance make it a place like no other. Patal Bhuvaneshwar is a hidden pilgrimage centre, seepded in mystery and mythology, near Gangolihat, on the way to Berinag, at a distance of 35 kms. from Pithoragarh. This shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The way to the cave temple is through a long, narrow tunnel. The cave is 160 m long and 90 feet deep from the point of entrance. Patal Bhuvaneshwar is not merely a natural wonder but the abode of Lord Shiva himself. Skandh Puran has it that the cave serves as a gateway to the netherworld, where the divine trinity—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—reside in eternal harmony. A nominal fee, and a guide will take you all along the stories, and all hidden caves/ sthanas- Shesh Naag, Bhuvaneshwari Devi, Amrit Kund, Airawat, Kalp Vriksh, Kaamdhenu, Shiv Jatas and many more. Here's what makes it significant: Location: It's situated in Bhubneshwar village, about 14 kilometers away from Gangolihat, at an altitude of 1,350 meters (4,429 feet). Description: * This isn't just one cave, but rather a series of interconnected caves. * The main cave is about 160 meters long and descends 90 feet from its entrance. * Inside, you'll find stunning natural formations of stalactites and stalagmites that have, over time, taken the shapes of various Hindu deities and mythological figures. These include representations of Lord Shiva, Ganesha, Sheshnag (the divine serpent), and even what is believed to be the severed head of Ganesha. * The cave is electrically illuminated, allowing visitors to witness these intricate formations. Mythological and Historical Significance: * Ancient Mentions: Patal Bhuvaneshwar finds mention in the ancient Hindu scripture, the Skanda Purana, specifically in the Manas Khand. * Discovery: Legend has it that the cave was first discovered in the Treta Yuga by King Rituparna of the Surya dynasty. It is believed that he was guided through the cave by Sheshnag himself. * Rediscovery: In the Kali Yuga (the present epoch), the great sage Adi Shankaracharya is said to have rediscovered this cave in 1191 AD, establishing its modern pilgrimage history. * Abode of Deities: It's a strong belief that this cave is the abode of 33 crore (33 types, as "koti" in this context means type) Hindu gods and goddesses. * Connection to Char Dham: Many believe that a pilgrimage to Patal Bhuvaneshwar is as sacred as visiting the Char Dham (the four major pilgrimage sites) of Uttarakhand. * Passage of the Pandavas: Some legends suggest that the Pandavas, the heroes of the Mahabharata, meditated here during their final journey to the Himalayas. * Symbolic Entrances: The cave is said to have four entrances: Randwar (path to war), Paapdwar (door of sin), Dharamdwar (door of righteousness), and Mokshadwar (door of salvation). Currently, only Dharamdwar and Mokshadwar are open. It is believed that Paapdwar closed after the death of Ravana and Randwar closed after the Mahabharata war. * Link to Mount Kailash: There's a belief that Patal Bhuvaneshwar is connected to Mount Kailash through an underground passage. Visiting Patal Bhuvaneshwar: * The journey inside the cave involves descending about 82 steps and navigating narrow, sometimes wet passages, often with the help of iron chains for support. * The atmosphere inside is typically dimly lit and solemn, adding to the mystical experience. * Priests from the Bhandari family have been performing religious rites here since the time of Adi Shankaracharya. * The cave timings are generally from 8 am to 6 pm during summer and 9 am to 5 pm during winter, but it's always good to confirm locally. * Entry into the cave is often in batches of 20-30 people. In essence, Patal Bhuvaneshwar is more than just a cave; it's a place steeped in mythology and spirituality, offering a unique and somewhat adventurous pilgrimage experience.

A thrilling experience. After getting down from the vehicle, it's 1.5 KM walking distance through a mountain path. For 3 person, ticket charged around 290/-. But when I came to the entry of the downward stairs at this cave, I refused to enter and returned back. But later when I saw that all men, women and even 7 to 10 years kids were entering, then I entered. After climbing down 90 feet of stairs, there was uneven land with misc mythology. Main thing is to hold the chains tightly, which passes from both sides, it will save from any kind of fallen. At the time of climbing up, it's the same funda - hold the chains and move calmly, don't hurry.

Binsar zero point

Nature & Parks
Mountains
Pure nature in its full bloom among thick oak forest. Pin drop silence with gentle breeze and birds chirping in the background. A small hike of short trail of about 2 kms from Tourist Rest House, Binsar leads to the zero point. Beauty of nature on the way is pure bliss. Small benches on regular interval invite you for a small break. View of the valley downward awestruck you. It's reminds you of the nature that was pure and pristine few decades back.

Binsar Zero Point is the highest point of the Binsar Wildlife, from where one can savour a 360-degree view of the Himalayan beauties namely Kedarnath, Shivling, Trishul and the group of Nanda Devi peaks. Entire trail is beautiful, many birds can see from there. 2 km trail gives you serenity. If you stay in Binsar, must do this trail at morning.
SAIKAT M — Google review
A beautiful point giving a valley view along with mountains all around. If it’s cloudy you will literally feel like walking on the clouds and see them below your eyeline. Majestic place to say the least !
Sahil C — Google review
Binsar is a beautiful area about 30km from Almora with an average height of 2412 metres. It is made of a series of ridges and gorges. Binsar used to be summer capital of Chand kings. It was later on established as a sanctuary for the conservation and protection of Oak forests. It has over 200 species of bird. However, when we visited Binsar in February last year, we did not have much luck with seeing these birds, possibly because in winters they had migrated elsewhere.

Ticket price - 250 per car. 200 per person. The fees goes to the forest department while the road is maintained by pwd. As on December 2024, the 10km road to the trek start point is in horrible condition and sedans and low ground clearance vehicles should avoid it. There are half foot craters with mud and I saw cars with broken bumpers. 200mm ground clearance is recommended minimum. The trek itself took around 20 mins one way and it easy . Carry water as there is no water source on the way. The view from here on a clear day is amazing with all peaks visible.
Soikat P — Google review
Beautiful trek to the breathtaking view. Jungle feels too quiet even after so many calls from the birds. Trek is 2 kms but easy level. Must visit place.
Gaurav M — Google review
Avoid visiting this place or taking hotel at the top of zero point. The road are such pathetic you will end up telling why did we choose this place. Bikers who love off-roading will definitely love this place but make sure you have a good riding skills. They have ticket of rupees 200per head and Rs250 of car. And there is nothing much at Zero point. The road to zero point is definitely not to travel after 3PM(much recommended) because travelling during dark is very very risky with no light no fencing at the sides and no proper roads might put life in danger.
Tanay C — Google review
Absolutely over rated. It's a good hike and view but you can get it anywhere in and around Binsar. No need to make an effort to do this trail. If you are there it's okay to trek but then there are so many trails everywhere. In fact staying inside the forest is also not necessary. The views are better from Dinapani or Kasardevi.

Anasakti Ashram, located in Kausani, Uttarakhand, is a peaceful abode dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. This religious site offers a picturesque setting with stunning views of the mountains and sunrise. The ashram features a prayer room, small museum with a picture gallery showcasing Gandhi's life, and accommodation facilities in old-style rooms reminiscent of an old Dak Bangla.
Anasakti Ashram in Kausani, nestled amidst the Himalayas, holds a historic charm. The sublime beauty of this place is amplified by its connection to Mahatma Gandhi who took refuge here. You can sense a serene and peaceful atmosphere, following the same tranquility that Gandhiji once experienced. It houses a small museum preserving his teachings and a library with a rich collection of his works. If you seek a place for quiet introspection coupled with scenic views, Anasakti Ashram is truly an ideal retreat.

A quiet and peaceful place with beautiful mountain views. Entry is free, and you can spend 1–2 hours here. Quite high parking fee required for four-wheelers, but space is limited. I would recommend it for a one-time visit if you're in Kausani and got spare time.
Dr R — Google review
What a great place. I will suggest you all visit this place in morning then you will able to see clear view of himalayas and its so beautiful. Very peaceful place. The ashram is located at a convenient distance of a kilometre from the Kausani bus stand. Gandhiji spent a number of days here in 1929 and a lot of people come to this place following in his footsteps. Local legend proudly suggests that Gandhiji was so besotted by the natural beauty of the place that he exclaimed that this was truly the Switzerland of India. He is believed to have been working on his theory of Anasakti Yoga, which preaches the belief in the philosophy of non-attachment to the material world. There is a small prayer room in the ashram, where prayers are held every morning and evening. Much like in the rest of the Kumaon region, sublime views of the Himalayas are abundant and omnipresent. The quietude and serenity of the spot is disturbed by little else and heightened by the locally popular reading library. The ashram also features a small archive-like museum that showcases photographs of Mahatma Gandhi’s stay here along with other paraphernalia associated with him. There is also a study and research centre in the ashram, which work towards taking Gandhiji’s philosophies forward. For those looking for an immersive experience, there are a small number of rooms available that can be rented.

In 1929, Gandhiji came to Kausani for two days but he liked the place so much that he stayed here for 14 days and completed the book Anashakti Yoga. Because of this book, this guest house was named Anashakti Ashram. This place is very beautiful and one can get a panoramic view of the Himalayas from here. Kausani is a small village but a very peaceful place.

Remote area only accessible by a trail, offering a peaceful waterfall near a small temple & caves.
The visit to the Rudradhari Mahadev temple and waterfall, nestled in the heart of a serene forest was a tranquil experience. Our guide, Laxmanji, was helpful and knowledgeable, adding to the richness of our journey. Being away from the hustle and bustle of urban life and spending time in such a pristine natural atmosphere was a refreshing change. From my experience the best time to visit the Rudradhari Falls would be during the monsoon or later May. There is a beautiful trek of about 1.5KM. The waterfall has a Shiv Temple adjacent to it. There are many Eateries before the trek but none on the way. The water is clean and cold. Must visit! Neil's Tip:DO NOT VISIT DURING SUMMERS

This temple is inside a cave deep in the forest. The hike to the temple is a short yet lovely one. Especially if you start very early in the morning. I had a great time hopping boulders, crossing streams, picking up Rhododendron flowers and clicking ton of pics. A must do hike if in Kausani, but not for the seniors who may have joint pain or are not used to hiking.

Was here during heavy rains and the trek seemed not so easy. We hired a guide who charged us 300 after a little bargaining. But the guide was worth it and he also helped with our 2 year old kid. We had to cross 6 streams out of which 2 were knee deep as the river was little flooded. It was worth the visit once we reached the waterfall which also had a heavy flow. We visited during peak monsoon and you would need to check for leech everytime you cross the stream. Definately the trek was worth it once you reach the temple. Please note there is no Jio or Airtel network at this place.

The temples are well-preserved and offer a glimpse into the rich cultural and religious history of the region. The priests are warm and welcoming, adding to the spiritual charm of the place. The nearby river and lush greenery further enhance the tranquil experience. A must-visit for anyone looking to connect with nature and spirituality. Highly recommended!

Baijnath is very famous for the ancient temples and historical importance. The temple is located on the banks of the beautiful Gomti River, in the Bageshwar district (Kumaon region), Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to the Lord Vaidyanatha (Lord Shiva as the Lord of physicians). It is said that (euttaranchal.com) the temple was built by the Kumaon Katyuri King in around 1150 A.D. This is a temple complex with the idols of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahma. The enchanting view of the Himalayan peaks is great seen from this place, particularly the Sun-rise and Sun-set reflections on the mountain. We have visited this place in the month of October with a clear sky all the time. It’s a must visit place

Shridhar Baijnath Group of Temples – Serene Heritage by the Riverside If you're traveling from Kausani towards Munsiyari, the Shridhar Baijnath Group of Temples makes for a perfect cultural and spiritual stopover. Located just about 16 km from Kausani in the peaceful town of Baijnath, this ancient temple complex sits beautifully along the banks of the Gomti River. It's not just another temple visit — it's a moment of connection with Uttarakhand’s rich history and timeless architecture. Dating back to the 12th century, the temples are known for their exquisite stone carvings and tranquil setting. There's a calmness in the air, and the view of the surrounding hills adds to the peaceful experience. It’s a great place to stretch your legs, soak in the heritage, and click some memorable photos. The temples are dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva (Baijnath), and the complex features beautiful stone-carved shrines and idols that reflect the rich architectural heritage of the Katyuri dynasty. It's not very crowded, making it a perfect place to sit, reflect, and connect with nature and history. This stop also fits naturally into the route to Munsiyari via Bageshwar, Chaukori, and Birthi Falls. It adds both spiritual value and a refreshing break during the long road journey. You don't need to spend hours here — even a 30-45 minute pause is enough to admire its beauty. This site is not just a religious stop but a cultural gem worth visiting for its peaceful aura, beautiful setting, and ancient artistry. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, culture, heritage, serenity and a slice of Uttarakhand’s spiritual past or just some quiet time amid nature.

Vaibhav S — Google review
The temples are ancient and worth visiting. Located on a promontory jutting over a bend of the Gomti river, the temples beauty has been enhanced by damming the river and creation of a lake. Sadly the landscaping around the lake is in poor taste, with ugly architecture and gaudy pedal boats, totally out of sync with the ancient architecture of the temples. Encroachments around the temple overshadow the temples themselves. This place holds a lot of promise, as a spiritual destination, as a recreational zone and as a birdwatching nature reserve. A lot of effort is required to make this a tourist destination. At the moment, Baijnath, with its ugly, poorly constructed buildings has no town planning and nil building regulations. It's a surprise anyone would wish to come here, or having come unwittingly, stay for long.

The Trishul Peak is one of the most prominent and awe-inspiring sights visible from the Almora district. Rising high above the surrounding ranges, this three-pronged massif resembles the divine trident (Trishul) of Lord Shiva — a sight that feels both sacred and spectacular. During sunrises and sunsets, the peaks glow in shades of gold, crimson, and violet, standing out sharply against the Himalayan sky. It’s a view that stays with you long after you’ve left the hills. 🌄✨ At 7,120 meters, Trishul I is the highest summit among the three, though together they form the mighty Trishul massif — a landmark that defines the skyline of Almora, Ranikhet, and beyond. If you’re visiting Uttarakhand, take a quiet moment to watch the Trishul peaks at dawn or dusk — it’s not just a view, it’s a spiritual experience in motion. 🙏

Tungnath is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on a mountain peak 12,000 feet above sea level. The 2.5 to 3 mile trek to reach the temple is quite challenging but fulfilling and offers breathtaking views of snow clad mountains. Limited food options are available for visitors, but they can enjoy Maggi noodles while admiring the scenic beauty around them.
Easy trek of 4km. It took me 2 hours to reach the temple and one hour to get down. Chandrashila is further 2km trek from the temple. Where you will get 360° view of mountains. Its a good trek for all weather. If you like snow trek visit the place in Jan & Feb to have experience of snow covered trails. If you like flowers and colorful trek, this trek is full of Buransh flower in Mar and Apr. But the temple is closed from Nov to Apr. So during this period you can only enjoy trek and surroundings. While from May to Oct the temple is open and you can visit the temple. But wont get any good views like snow and flowers. So it depends on your purpose and choice. I visited this place twice. Once in Mar end and second time in Oct starting this year. Sharing pics for reference of both the season. For Chandrashila view, I would suggest to start the trek in night or early morning around 3am to see sunrise from Chandrashila. Or plan your trek to reach Chandrashila before 2 pm in the afternoon. Because after 2pm weather changes in mountains and there will be clouds and you won't be able to get any view as they are thick clouds and wont be clear after 2pm.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Mesmerizing Shree Tungnath Trek in October Trekking to Shree Tungnath Temple in October was an unforgettable experience! The weather was cool and pleasant, with clear skies offering breathtaking views of the snow-capped Chaukhamba and Kedarnath peaks. The trail was covered with vibrant autumn colors, making every step feel magical. The trek is moderate — not too difficult, but you’ll need good stamina, especially for the last steep climb towards the temple. Once you reach the top, the serenity and divine energy of Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, make it all worth it. If you start early morning, you can even trek further to Chandrashila Peak for an incredible sunrise view. October is the perfect month — fewer crowds, clear views, and pleasant weather. Highly recommended for spiritual seekers and mountain lovers alike! 🏔️🙏

The trek to the temple is moderate and filled with mesmerizing scenery — snow-capped peaks, meadows, and clouds floating right beside you. The peaceful energy at the top and the view of the Himalayas from there make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience 🌄. A must-visit for both devotees and nature lovers!

Om Namah Parvati Patye Har Har Mahadev! Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world, located at an altitude of 3,680 meters (12,073 ft) in the Garhwal Himalayas. The best time to visit is between September to November, when the temple doors are open for devotees. If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend starting your trek early, around 3 to 3:30 AM. Trekking in the dark might sound tough, but the trail is well-maintained and much easier when it’s cool and quiet. Reaching the temple before it opens is a truly peaceful and spiritual experience. For those chasing sunrise magic, don’t miss the Chandrashila Peak trek, which is about 2 km from Tungnath. The views from up there — sunrise lighting up the snow peaks, and clouds swirling below you — are unforgettable. Take photos, make time-lapse videos, but don’t forget to carry warm clothes and shoes with good grip. There are a few local shops near the temple selling water, tea, and snacks. Yes, the prices are a bit higher — but considering the effort it takes to stock supplies at this altitude, it’s totally fair and appreciated. Photos and videos can never fully capture the beauty and peace of this place — it's something you have to feel with your own eyes and soul.

Peaceful and Divine Experience at Tungnath Temple Tungnath Temple is truly a heavenly place! The trek to reach it is short but steep, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and fresh air. The silence, the sound of wind, and the divine aura of Lord Shiva make the entire journey worth it. Once you reach the temple, the feeling is beyond words — peaceful, pure, and deeply spiritual. The view from the top, especially during sunrise or sunset, is unforgettable. The route is clean, and small tea stalls along the way help you recharge. Overall, it’s a perfect blend of adventure and spirituality — a must-visit for every nature and Shiva devotee.

Amazing walk/ hike/ trek to Gurson Bugyal. Mesmerizing views. We hiked much further up from the touristy view points. Definitely coming back to see the enormity of bugyal in it's lush green splendor.

Easy nice trek of one day with spectacular views , beware of guides , they charge too much , only if you are well off then take guide else go in group and if any one stops like forest guard try to please him nicely. He may take 50-100 rs for going up or try to take deposit if you carrying plastic items , kindly dont litter in bugyals , just go enjoy the view , spend time and carry all your garbage with you back.

The Ropeway to Auli offers a unique experience, with the cable car providing space for up to 30 people. The journey covers an elevation gain of almost 4000 ft, making it a rare and scenic ride in India. The 25-minute trip showcases breathtaking snow-capped peaks and picturesque landscapes. While the car may feel a bit cramped when full, the staff is helpful and accommodating.
Very nice experience. I have travelled in many ropeways in India as well as in in other countries. Considering the cable-car itself it's not anything special. 30 people can stand in the car. It's bit uncomfortable when full as the car itself is not that spacious. However what is special is the terrain where the cable car is built. The lower tower is at 6252 ft and the upper tower is at 10,200 ft. So the elevation gain is almost 4000 ft which is very rare in India. It takes almost 25 minutes to go up and 22 minutes to come down. The scenary from the Ropeway is Unbeatable. The lower tower is having lots of Peach trees. As we visited in August the trees were full of delicious 😋😋 peach 🍑🍑 fruits. We took the liberty of picking up some. The local authority welcomed us. It was one of the most pleasant experience. Thanks to them.

Auli ropeway or Gondola is the worth having experience when you're in Auli. It's an open flying trolley that takes you to the top and you witness breathtaking mountain views. Price per person is Ra.500/- only. You can do several snow adventure activities like Skiing, sledging, trekking etc when you reach the top.
Vatsal G — Google review
Its the most unique experience. Ropeway costs 1000 and 500 for chair car incase you have reservations. Its a 25 min ride and the most enticing experience. You can see all snow tops. Beautiful scenery. . Tickets for ropeway gets booked easily and it closes by 4. So keep your timelines scheduled.
Tanvi S — Google review
The longest ropeway in India.A full 25 minutes of hanging over some of the most picture-postcard perfect locales ever. We took it a total of four times during our five days stay there. The staff is helpful the gondola has a standing-only place and in case you want to go to the Auli ski resort you get down at a pillar before the end and take a rickety lift six floors down and then take the ski lift to the resort. The experience of sitting with your legs dangling and nothing but a bar between you and everything else around you ( in the ski lift) is like being in another world altogether. Even if you are not booked into one of the resorts in joshi math, please take this trip up to auli . It's worth every minute and every rupee sent on it
Neelesh K — Google review
Nice place to visit. It’s very beautiful to visit both in winter and off winter. There are variety of flowers in this place. They looks so mesmerizing. After the rope way we took mule ride to see flowers. It was so beautiful. One must visit.
Sharath K — Google review
We went there but couldn't experience it. It's very important to get online booking done if you are choosing a crowded day like new year. Also, the offline booking portal opens at 9 am. So if you haven't got online ticket, try buying it offline early morning.
Rushali C — Google review
The true beauty of this place can be enjoyed only during peak winter that's when the entire area is covered in snow and winter sports like 🎿 is very popular. If the sky is clear and visibility is good then you would be able to see some of the peaks. Coming back to the ropeway it's a joy ride for sure but on the expensive side. The counter accepts payment in cash only (as usual in most part of UK and UP). Be aware that though there is a departure and return schedule the cable car won't take off until they have 20-25 people. The ground staff will ask you to enjoy pakoda and wait for your turn. The ride it self is good and takes ~ 21 mins one-way. After reaching the peak you can roam around and enjoy the view , take a pony ride or simply sit back and enjoy pakoda again :-).
Sibu N — Google review
This ropeway has two places to board. One is from Joshimath which is closed cabin and you have to go standing and maximum people allowed in cabin ropeway taxi is 25 people. This ropeway taxi goes at the maximum altitude of 10200 feet from where you can view Nandadevi, Trishul, Hathi ghoda Palki and many more peaks. Another ropeway to board is from Auli, which is open sitting seats and four people can sit on it.

Nestled amidst the majestic Himalayan peaks, Sri Hemkund Sahib is a revered Sikh pilgrimage site located next to the tranquil Hemkunt Lake. This high-altitude spiritual destination, perched at 4,633 meters, holds great significance for devotees and nature enthusiasts alike. The serene Gurudwara honors Guru Gobind Singh and offers a sense of tranquility in its snow-covered surroundings.
Hemkunt Sahib is truly a divine and unforgettable experience. The trek is quite challenging, especially with the steep climbs and unpredictable weather, but absolutely worth every step. For those who may find the trek difficult, there is the option to go by horseback, which is helpful. The place radiates peace and spiritual energy, and the views are nothing short of breathtaking — snow-capped peaks, alpine flowers, and misty landscapes that feel straight out of a dream. Weather here can change quickly and it often rains, so I highly recommend starting the trek as early as possible in the morning. The window to visit is short during the year, so plan accordingly. This was one of the most serene and powerful places I’ve ever been to. A must-visit for both spiritual seekers and nature lovers!
Shilajit V — Google review
The trek to Hemkund Sahib is filled with faith and beauty. At 15,000 feet, the calm lake with the Gurudwara beside it makes all the effort worth it. It’s a place where you truly feel peace, divinity, and the pure touch of nature❤️.
Chetan K — Google review
Beautiful glacial lake. Peaceful gurudwara. Hot chai and Khichdi are served at the langar. Next to it, around the place where the horse stable is, is a tiny mountain with a lot of Brahma Kamal plants. They are quite beautiful. Also try to visit on a day with clear skies. During the 1.5 hours I was up, the sky cleared out for like 2 minutes during which I clicked the pictures. Take the horse service if you can (to not get overly exhausted esp if doing after the Valley of Flowers Trek) I took the horse up and walked my way down and ended with lot of knee pains (for someone in 20s)

Hemkund Sahib is a soul-stirring destination, serene, sacred, and surrounded by stunning Himalayan beauty. 🏔️ However, the trek to reach here is more challenging than the Valley of Flowers. It’s a steep climb with many switchbacks, and the high altitude makes it even more demanding.

What an atmosphere 👏 almost 16-17 km trek up-down from Ghangharia. Try to start trek as soon as possible (4-5 am).
Anjan K — Google review
Just completed the trek to Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara, and it was an experience of a lifetime! Every step of the challenging journey was worth it for the breathtaking views and the sense of accomplishment. The Gurudwara's serene atmosphere and stunning location amidst the Himalayas left me spellbound. But what truly made the experience special was the Kadha Prasad served at the Gurudwara. It was the perfect reward after the hectic trek, and every bite felt like a blessing. If you're a trekker or a spiritual seeker, Hemkund Sahib is a must-visit destination. The pain of the trek is compensated by the peace and beauty you'll experience here. Highly recommended!"

Nestled in the majestic Himalayas, Kedarnath Temple is an 8th-century Shiva temple and Hindu pilgrimage site adorned with Pali inscriptions and mythological scenes. Pilgrims embark on a soul-stirring journey through breathtaking landscapes, including the glacial lake Gandhi Sarovar, where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed.
It's a great emotional experience to reach here after a 16 kilometres trek. It may take 5 or more hours to reach the shrine depending on your stamina. *September* is the month you should choose to avoid heavy rush. At night Kedarnath can be too cold to hold. It's a high altitude place situated in the greater Himalayas. The temple is one of the most visited sacred places in India. It's one of the Char Dham Yatra temples in Uttarakhand and one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples in India. Unforgettable divine experience... I recently had the profound blessing of visiting Shri Kedarnath Temple, and I am still overwhelmed by the spiritual power and majestic beauty of this sacred place. It is, without any exaggeration, a 5-star experience that transcends any rating system. From the very beginning, the journey itself is a form of meditation. The trek from Gaurikund is undoubtedly challenging, but every step you take through the stunning Himalayan landscape, with the sound of the Mandakini River beside you and the chants of "Har Har Mahadev" all around, strips away your worldly worries and prepares you for the divine darshan. The moment I first laid eyes on the temple, standing strong and ancient against the backdrop of massive, snow-covered peaks, I was moved to tears. The entire valley vibrates with a divine energy that is palpable. The darshan of the sacred Jyotirlinga was the absolute pinnacle of my journey. The feeling inside the garbha griha (sanctum) is indescribable—a powerful sense of peace, history, and an immediate, personal connection to Lord Shiva. Everything about this place is magical: the crisp, cold mountain air, the sound of the temple bells, the morning aarti that echoes off the mountains, and the sense of unity with thousands of other devotees. This pilgrimage is not just a trip; it's a transformative experience. It tests your body but fills your soul. I left a piece of my heart in Kedarnath, and I brought back a sense of peace that I will cherish forever. I wholeheartedly recommend this divine journey to every single person.

Bheem Pul, located in the charming village of Mana, the last Indian village near Badrinath, is one of the most fascinating and spiritually enriching spots in Uttarakhand. According to legend, this natural stone bridge was placed by Bheem, one of the Pandava brothers from the Mahabharata, to help Draupadi cross the Saraswati River on their way to heaven. The mythological connection adds an aura of mystery and divinity to the place. The bridge itself is a massive natural rock arching gracefully over the roaring Saraswati River, whose powerful flow and thunderous sound create a breathtaking sight. Surrounded by snow-clad peaks, lush greenery, and the crisp mountain air, Bheem Pul feels like a window into another world — untouched, pure, and deeply sacred. Visitors are often mesmerized by the energy of the river, the serenity of the landscape, and the warmth of the locals who share stories of its divine origin. Very gruelling trek over the Gangotri glacier to Tapovan this year. The landscape has changed dramatically, making it difficult for amateur trekkers to go to Tapovan

Superb experience, awesome place to visit for friends and family. A point on the glacier where it gets converted into river is called the snout or mouth of the Glacier. One such famous snout of Gangotri glacier is called Goumukh or the source of Bhagirathi river - a tributary of Ganga. If one loves adventure and landscape photography then the Gangotri trekking is the best. There is a trek of 19 km from Gangotri to Gaumukh. It takes take around two days and two nights.

India in a region bordering Tibet. This glacier, one of the primary sources of the Ganges, is one of the largest in the Himalayas with an estimated volume of over 27 cubic kilometers. The glacier is about 30 kilometres long and 2 to 4 km wide. It is most beautiful place and peace of mind

Significance Of Saraswati River In Hindu History Saraswati River was a manifestation of Goddess Saraswati. She is the goddess of knowledge, music and creativity. Many Sanskrit texts refer that Kartikey, one of the children of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, was appointed the Commander of Deva forces near the bank of Saraswati River. Lord Parshuram, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, bathed in the water of Saraswati River to repent for the sin of killing tyrant Kshatriyas. King Pururava, mentioned in Mahabharata, met his to-be-wife Urvashi near the banks of the Saraswati River. Not only the war of Mahabharata was fought near the Saraswati River, its recital also happened near the banks Sarswati river is said to be disappeared nowadays but in the first Village of mana you can see the origin of Saraswati river. If you want to see the sacred Saraswati River, there’s only one place on Earth to do it—Mana Village. Nestled in the high Himalayas near Badrinath, this is where the mythical river bursts forth from the mountains, foaming and roaring with a power that takes your breath away. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesha himself declared that Saraswati would not be visible anywhere else in the world, making this sight truly one of a kind. Before you reach the river, the village greets you with a charming market full of handwoven shawls, woolen caps, traditional crafts, and friendly locals happy to share their stories. Don’t miss the “Last Tea Shop of India,” where you can enjoy hot chai while gazing at snow peaks. The beauty of the Saraswati here is unmatched—its crystal-clear, icy waters tumble over rocks with incredible force, framed by lush greenery and ancient stone paths. Just a short walk away lies Bheem Pul, a colossal boulder said to have been placed by Bhima from the Mahabharata to help the Pandavas cross the river. The combination of living culture, stunning landscapes, and epic legends makes Mana an unforgettable destination. A must-visit for anyone seeking the magic of India’s heritage and nature in one place.

The place is not fully developed from earlier. Now you will find many shops just after mana parking. The place is quite crowded as there is very small area at main point. Overall place it worth to visit it. You will find Sarasvati temple and river. Temple is also converted to big temple which is attraction point. I would recommend everyone to visit at least once if you are coming yo Badrinath. You need to walk for approx 1km from parking.

There is a Saraswati temple near the Saraswati river and Bhim pul in Mana village. We need to trek for about 500m from car park. Also swarga rohini arch is found nearby from where the Pandavas went to swarga. We didn't go beyond this point as the locals suggested that it would be difficult for us to manage.

The Sarasvati River is a deified river first mentioned in the Rig Veda. Already since the 19th century, attempts have been made to identify the mythical Sarasvati of the Vedas with physical rivers. Many think that the Vedic Sarasvati river once flowed east of the Indus (Sindhu) river. Scientists, geologists as well as scholars have identified the Sarasvati with many present-day or now-defunct rivers. Two theories are popular in the attempts to identify the Sarasvati. Several scholars have identified the river with the present-day Ghaggar-Hakra River or dried up part of it, which is located in Northwestern India and Pakistan. Saraswati River, a tributary of Alaknanda River, originates near Badrinath. Saraswati River in Bengal, formerly a distributary of the Hooghly River, has dried up since the 17th century. Considered sacred by millions of Indians, Saraswati is one among the trio of India's holy rivers, along with Ganga and Yamuna. As per the documents submitted by the Haryana government in the recent case, around 6000 years ago the Saraswati river disappeared due to tectonic disturbances, impacting its tributaries.
