Transportation
Ferries
The Angkor Express Boat, operated by Khmer locals since 2002, offers round-trip rides between Penh and Siem Reap as well as Siem Reap and Battambang in Cambodia. It's best experienced from August to February when the Mekong River water levels are high. The journey provides a unique opportunity to witness the beauty of Tonle Sap Lake and the bustling life of floating villages along the river.
We took the ferry from Siem Reap to Battambang. A very nice way (but not very comfortable) to combine transport and sightseeing. It toon us 6.5 hours. Mostly cruising the river with the busy life of the floating villages and friendly waving locals. The boat does look different than on the website😏. It is very noisy so take earplugs. There is a simple toilet and they stop at a floating shop half way for 20 minutes if you fancy fried Rice.. ticket 30 usd and sometimes they can puck you up at your hotel.
Claudine M — Google review
I love boats and I love the water but this trip was not a favourite and I'd recommend a different mode of transport between Siem Reap and Battambang. Seeing the floating communities and locals transferred via their small boats to and from the ferry was great but the length of the trip at over 6 hrs and the small size of the ferry are negatives plus at times it sounded like the engine was going to die completely! It was not in a great state of repair with loose wires hanging off! Its a narrow boat to negotiate some of the tight waterways it has to travel but it means you dont have much legroom from those across from you and the bench seats just have a thin cushion so not very comfortable. We stopped after 4 hrs for a lunch break but the food did not look great so I bought some packet items. There is a very small toilet on board that you kind of have to back into as its such a low ceiling. At Battambang we stopped well outside of town and had to disembark onto a muddy riverbank as it seems the local government has built a dam further upstream and banned boats from travelling further! Not sure if this is temporary or long term. As a result its a USD5 Tuk Tuk into town
David S — Google review
The price proposed by this company for the boat transfer from Siem Reap to Battambang (or the other way) is really expensive compared to normal prices to the normal counter office, and even much more expensive than prices for local people. And absolutely no service justifying this price. A scam!
Devy J — Google review
Interesting journey! See the floating villages! But seats are incredibly uncomfortable. The 6 hour journey took seven hours. Watch out for this unscrupulous tuk-tuk driver at the Battambang end! Not recommended to hire him for any length of journey. He's unnaturally happy, but his follow-up sales tactics leave much to be desired.
Gerry C — Google review
It was a good way of getting close to the floating villages AND getting from Siem Reap to Battambang. It took us close to 9h in end of February 2020 due to dry season and we couldn't reach Battambang but stopped before it. No aircondition but airstream from boat speed (23km/h max). Boat had sun roof and a small hole-in-the-flor toilet. No drinks provided on board. If you are looking for "local-kind-of-adventure" this is EXACTLY your thing. If not go by bus. Startet at ~7am in Siem Reap by getting picked up at the hotel with a pick up truck (with what else?! 😁😁 ) Drove probably 40min to an harbor outside of Siem (at Siem Reap River). Went over the TonleSap to Sangker River. Lots of floating villages on this riverside. Nice to watch. 👍😎 Had "lunch" at 12 in boat stop. You might want to bring your own lunch. After the lunch break the rivers gotten thiner and driving was not easy anymore. Jurney got a bit boring. Reached a place close to Battambang finally at ~4pm. There a tuktuk has to be taken and paid to get to your hotel (paid 5$).
Schorsch S — Google review
Attention fraud! you get thrown off the boat 20km from Siem Reap in no man's land. Everything arranged. tuk tuk drivers are waiting on site and charge $5 per person to be taken to Siem reap. there are no other ways to get there. There is also no internet to call a vehicle with the Pass app. The boat it also not the same like on the picture.
Aiken A — Google review
For me it is fraud! I bought tickets from Battambang to Siem Reap. But, the driver stopped about 20km before Siem Reap, everyone had to get out and walk to the already waiting tuk tuks. For an inflated price you have to be driven into town for another $5. So in total I paid 35 euros for 6,5 hours on a small boat on which you can not move, with a short stopover and with fraud later.
Iona L — Google review
Echo what everyone else has said. Wish I read these before travelling. It too us 11 hours door to door between BB and SR and cost $30 for first transfer and boat trip. They dropped us off 39 minutes away from SR and we had to take the tuk tuks available. They started at $8 each but when we complained dropped to $6 each. Just be aware before you book. It is a long and uncomfortable trip. The scenery is lovely but only for the first couple of hours. Then it becomess boring.

Tonlé Sap

Lake
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
Tonlé Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, is not only a stunning natural wonder but also one of the richest fishing grounds globally. The lake is home to several vibrant villages, with Kompong Phluk being the most accessible from Siem Reap. A short tuk-tuk ride will take you to this charming village on the northeastern shore, where you can immerse yourself in local culture and witness life in a water village.
Tonle Sap Lake in Siem Reap is a magical place, especially during sunset. Watching the golden hues spread across the vast waters while on a boat was a breathtaking experience. The sun seemed to dance on the rippling surface, painting the sky with shades of orange, pink, and purple. The calmness of the lake, combined with the natural beauty of the setting sun, made the moment unforgettable and peaceful. What made the visit even more special was witnessing the unique lifestyle of the floating village. The houses, built on tall stilts, stand resilient against the seasonal changes in water levels. Families live, work, and thrive in this remarkable environment, relying on the lake for fishing and transportation. It was inspiring to see how they have adapted so beautifully to their surroundings, showcasing the strength and resourcefulness of human spirit.

Highlight of my Siem Reap trip was visiting a floating village in Siem Reap. People there live outside the world of convenience. They use alum to filter lake water for cooking, drinking and washing. 😳. Visiting there was a reminder of all the things we have to be grateful for. 🫶
Maricar P — Google review
It's the biggest lake in Southeast-Asia and it's definitely impressive. We visited during the dry season, so during our boat tour we got to see the way the houses on stilts were constructed. The sunset is stunning.
Asmara T — Google review
There are several floating villages around Tonle Sap Lake, where people have adapted their lifestyles to the changing water levels with houses, schools, and small shops scattered along the river and lake. It’s about a 40minute drive from Siem Reap city, a great spot to visit when you feel like taking a short break from the temples. During the dry season, some areas become too shallow or muddy for boats to enter, so it’s best to check the conditions before you go. The sunset over the lake was absolutely unforgettable.
Donggeon K — Google review
A huge lake that shared with 5 provinces. We take a boat through Kampong Phluk, nearby Siem Reap. It took us around 30 minutes to reach here from the town. The lake is nice especially during sunset. You cannot see the shore of the other side from here. There are also few floating village that made for tourist attractions area and you can enter here for 22 usd. Totally an experience being here
Hafizun M — Google review
This is the largest freshwater lake in southeast Asia, designated as a Reserve by the UNESCO. You need to buy a ticket to get to the port to take the boat to the lake. There are different sizes of boats to accommodate different group sizes. We took a middle size boat that accommodates 10/12 people. We enjoyed the trip very much. The trip was an adventure as small and medium size boats cross each other along the river leading to the lake. Water was low but the trip was fun. You will see interesting homes with long stairs leading to the river. Fishermen families have been living on the water houses for decades if not centuries. There are some floating restaurants that serve local dishes, specially crocodile meat. You may see in these restaurants small crocodile farms. The lake floating village includes a church, restaurants, community spaces and many homes, is worth the visit. This is definitely a place to visit while in Siem Rip.
Philippe K — Google review
Tonlé Sap is a stunning freshwater lake that changes dramatically with the seasons. The lake is home to floating villages that offer a glimpse into a rare way of life—but timing is key. In the dry season, water levels drop, and many “floating” houses sit on dry land. The sunset viewpoint is absolutely worth a stop, offering golden reflections over the water. While there are charming floating tea points scattered across the lake, expect high prices and limited choices. Visit during the wet season for the most authentic and beautiful experience.
Vidya H — Google review
You may feel like you came to a sea but this is the largest freshwater lake in southeast Asia. It has been designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1997 due to its high biodiversity. Now come to the point what you will get as a tourist. You need to buy tickets to get to this lake through a muddy road. There are different sizes of boats of different size of groups. Anyway i would suggest to get a small motor boats if you are alone or 4/5 persons. This will help you to move fast and also see the fishermen families living on the water villas/houses for around 100 years. There are number of floating restaurants that serve local dishes, sea foods along with special crocodile meat; you heard me right…these boats are mini crocodile farms as well. To have the best of tonle sap lake, go more inside to the lake, stop the boat motor and enjoy the sunset. Its so refreshing and relaxing. On the way back to Siam Reap, try road side restaurants for fresh fish grill from the lake. Dont miss it.

It's home to some of the most tantalizing eateries, provocative nightclubs, and chic boutiques within the region. Its vicinity is home to numerous hotels, night markets, and attractions, including dinner theaters, circuses, and walking paths. During holiday seasons, such as the Water Festival, the entire area is filled with massive crowds, vibrant colors, and bold lights that bounce off the pavement.

Lots of bars, massage centers, shops of all kinds and restaurants. It’s very clean too, rarely see trash in the street. Quite impressive pub street.
Jessy Q — Google review
If you love night life, Pub Street is Siem Reap is the place to be. It's located in the heart of the city. It's a pedestrian-only street at night, filled with bars, restaurants, clubs, and shops. Lots of cheap local beer, live music and traditional Cambodian food. Affordable foot massages are offered everywhere. These are amazing after a long day of walking in the temples. It's very touristy with lots of European foreigners. I spent a week here and it was also during the water festival. One of the best vacations I have ever had. I also bought lots of souvenirs here.

The Angkor National Museum is a modern and expansive museum showcasing a wide array of Khmer artifacts, including Buddhas and Hindu religious icons. It offers an impressive historical overview with slick displays of statues and artifacts from the Khmer Empire. Visitors can also explore Artisans d'Angkor for free tours of silk painting, lacquer, stone carving, and wood carving workshops to witness artisans hand-crafting beautiful items that once adorned the ancient sites.
This was one of the first stops on my trip, and it was the perfect introduction to Khmer history and culture. The museum is modern, clean, and thoughtfully curated. Exhibits range from ancient sculptures and religious artifacts to displays of traditional costumes and architecture. The Gallery of 1,000 Buddhas is especially impressive. Highly recommend visiting here before going to Angkor Wat. It gives helpful context that makes the temples even more meaningful. Also, great for escaping the afternoon heat in Siem Reap! 😄
Phuong L — Google review
I wish I would have gone earlier in my trip, especially for the Angkor Wat exhibit, before visiting the actual temples. A good introduction to Khmer culture and the area. Definitely recommend. Pictures aren't allowed in most of the rooms but good to go regardless.

Its was 12 dollars to get in and the voice tour was a further 5 but I can never stick to them so I declined and just went freely. Great video at the start and then the exhibits were all very well signed , lots to see , great descriptions , lots of space to move around too. Worth a visit
Taz M — Google review
Highly recommended to visit this museum before going to Angkor Wat or other temples. It gives great background on Khmer history, religion, and architecture, which helps you understand what you’ll see at the temples. The museum is clean, air-conditioned, and well laid out. Don’t miss the 1,000 Buddha gallery. Entry is $12, worth it for the insights.
Ivan L — Google review
As someone who has visited Angkor Vat many times, I have to say I am a bit disappointed in this museum. Firstly because 15 dollars to see national treasures - not just from the Angkor period, but pre- hindu goddesses; tapestry from villages in Northern India; Nepal, China; Bangladesh- humanity's treasures- should include an audio guide. This exceedengly important historical knowledge should be available to everyone, included and at choice. Regrettably, a few of the videos are at present outdated. The video room about Naga for example, a principal in Bhuddism- We couldn't make out a single word of what they were saying, the audio quality was unpleasant at best, inaudible in truth. You see that serpent? On all bills, guarding all temples, all parks, all bridges? But you're destined to google it instead: if you bother, that is. What is the point of having a giant pool on the first floor? Did I miss out since I didn't have enough for the audio guide? Just splendour? You could put up a plackard. For sure it's connected to the water pool of Ankor Vat. And the exhibit supposed to be dedicated to "life in the The Angkor period", missed- just that! It is the diety room, the bhuddas. What of the people who flourished there, the engineering of this civilisation-by means of water- all absent: what they wore, what they wrote, how they ate, how many they were- reconstructions of life around Siem Reap at the time, not to mention the wars fought over these temple grounds? From dynasty to dynasty, religion to religion. More relevant now than ever - missing reconstructions. Why? And now I stop my criticisms. The lovely, lively and exquisitely curated representations of bhuddas (must be one of the largest in the 🌎?.) From all over Asia and even Africa - is a SIGHT, the dim lighting, firebrick and crimson walls, highlighting faces and bodies: A room that calls you to the present. Stepping in there it came to me how Bhuddism could reach so many, because these bhuddas undeniably look like like women or girls, they look like a neighbour, like someone familiar; a stranger at peace. The same way Siddharta never became a god, nor did he want to- but "a scent, a heartbeat, the thread in everyone". This room is to bow for. Aaaand there should be a restaurant here that serves small portions of food, not just drinks.
Åse I — Google review
We enjoyed our visit a lot. I especially recommend you to visit museum before exploring the Angkor temples. In the museum you will learn about history and architecture details, that will make you understand more about temples and Khmer. We spend there 3 hours.
Ola K — Google review
This is a wonderful museum in Siem Reap. It covers the history of the area going back to before the temples were constructed. There is a room that has 1000 statues of Buddha. They explain the reasoning of the different poses. There were about 8 different galleries and each one focused on a different time period of history. This is a must see for visitors and I would go here before I would go to the temples. You will understand a lot more when you visit them. The price for admission for adults is $12. They did have me leave my backpack in a locker when I entered. Some of the rooms had a little bit of AC and others were hawt.
Melissa H — Google review
A modern and well-presented museum that tells the story of Angkor in a captivating way. From intricate carvings to ancient relics, every display reflects the skill and devotion of Khmer artisans. A perfect starting point before exploring the temples.

Angkor Wat is an iconic and expansive temple complex surrounded by a wide moat, adorned with intricate carvings. Its sheer beauty can be overwhelming, making other Asian sites seem less remarkable in comparison. Visitors often recount the awe-inspiring experience of witnessing the sunset and sunrise at this magnificent site, where the play of light and shadow reflects on the water amidst pink water lilies.
I did a small loop through Angkor Wat complex but honestly this main temple was the most amazing one for me. Started the tour at 10:00 and finished after the sunset. In my opinion it's better to watch the sunset directly at Angkor Wat, since sun is shining directly on its walls, instead of watching the sunset on the hill near by. You can barely see the main temple from the hill. The temple itself is amazing, hard to believe they were able to build it in XII century. Definitely a must see when in Siem Reap.

It is rare that world heritage sites live up to their billing but Angkor Wat is a success story in that regard in my book. At this point, it is probably unnecessary to detail the architectural and archeological importance of the site. But, may I suggest, there is something to be said for being an explorer, rather than going with a guide. Just open your eyes and wander in wonder through the maze-like ruins and porticos. Try to put yourself into the mind of an Angkorian. Put aside the detailed explanations and observations and just try to flow with the vibe of the place. I think that it is somehow more in tune with the spirit of the place to walk around in silent mystery. You can get the explanations and historical commentary from any number of excellent YouTube videos, before or even more powerfully, after your visit. Enter the temple with an open, detached mindset. Just my opinion, of course. Pro Tip Whatever your mindset, be aware that it rains frequently and heavily, from April to October so come with appropriate precautions (raincoats, umbrellas, etc.) or be prepared to be drenched as we were.

Angkor Wat: Cambodia's largest and most famous temple impresses with its extensive reliefs and majestic towers rising above the moat. If you travel to Cambodia, you'll almost certainly visit Angkor Wat. A fantastic temple unlike any you might have seen before in Thailand. Here you can feel and see the passage of centuries past. However, be aware that you won't be alone. Thousands of tourists throng, especially to the third terrace of the main temple. Meditation is only possible at night 😉

Most people would agree this is One of the most amazing sites in the world. For me, the most enjoyable factor is that whilst thousands of visitors visit every day, the site is so big you don't feel hemmed in by crowds. Look out for photo displays showing pre and post renovation work to appreciate the good work which has been done and continues to be done in conserving this place.

I went on a sunrise tour, strangers at the start of the day, but they were all open, friendly souls with interesting stories.I highly recommend you use a guide. I sometimes felt rushed but we got to see so much, abd our guide avoided the crowds, even at the popular places.

A wonderful overall experience and an incredible place. This is a destination that you shouldn't overlook when in southeast asia. I highly recommend spending an afternoon here.Touring through the ruins and exploring history.

Experiencing sunrise at Angkor Wat is truly unforgettable, a moment where history, culture, and humanity converge. Standing among travelers from all over the world, you witness golden light illuminating the central towers and reflecting across the surrounding moat, a vision that stays etched in memory. The temple’s intricate bas-reliefs and seamless blend of Hindu and Buddhist symbolism make exploring its corridors and courtyards endlessly fascinating. Even after hours of wandering, new details emerge at every turn. To fully appreciate it, a guided tour with advance ticket booking is highly recommended, making this majestic temple the must visit centerpiece of Siem Reap.

A long awaited visit as its high status both religiously and as a wonder of the world. I would have expect d the same level of vibe as say the Taj Mahal. Entry was $37 buying tickets online. We had problems with the site as it would keep crashing and payments were bouncing back. Kept trying for about 6-7 times before getting through. The structure itself is not as big as I anticipated, but the grounds are set over a vast space. Several gates need to be passed before arriving at the central monetary. The is considerable restoration works needed and I was surprised due to the high level of prestige it hold both religiously and internationally it was in such a poor state. There is a lot of mi ey in the country as apparent from the plethora of range rovers on the streets. I was surprised to see the number of high value cars, especially having passed through Laos and Vietnam. With everything said, the architecture is clearly amazing you know the pyramid like mysteries as to how they were able to achieve such a fate so many years ago. Some of the stones are colossal and would have taken effort to move around. The handcrafted detail Is also impressive as the time it took for such detailed work would have been colloidal. I feel in years to come when restoration work have taken place and all the failed debris removed this will only get better. I was underwhelmed due to the high expectations I had, because I heard the high status the monastery holds. It was only for the bucket list and I am glad I was able to see it in other than media imagery.

Angkor Wat

Projat S — Google review

Bayon Temple, located in Angkor Thom, Cambodia, is a 12th-century marvel known for its iconic stone faces carved into the walls. Built under King Jayavarman VII's reign, this temple features 37 standing towers adorned with over 200 smiling faces. It also boasts impressive bas-reliefs depicting a mix of mythological, historical, and everyday scenes. The temple's eastward orientation makes it popular to visit in the morning or late afternoon for stunning views.
just insane - this was the last temple we visited and most notably, the one with monkeys all through it. they were a bit scary but fascinating to watch after perhaps overdoing the temples

Friday 10th October: The whole Angkor complex probably needs a day or two to see everything, this part was probably my favourite. Ancient relics, and then a rainstorm, it all just added to tbe experience. A fantastic place to visit and soak in (literally) the atmosphere
Alan H — Google review
Love the temples and the scenery. When you come to Cambodia, don’t miss out on the chance to see the amazing temples. Do be aware of wild Monkeys that are around there as they can sometimes be aggressive and will steal your food if you’re not careful.

Bayon Temple: This temple is known for its countless, enigmatically smiling stone faces that look in all directions. The Bayon Temple is a small, mystical temple that is far less crowded and bustling than Angkor Wat. Here, you can still experience some of the special atmosphere of those temples. A very beautiful place that shouldn't be missed on a tour of Angkor Wat.

The faces were so amazing on this temple and it was neat how much cooler it was inside with the breezes and shade. A couple of monkeys running around but we didn’t see any issues or attacks with them. Very busy on a Saturday morning though!

Beautiful Khmer temple with Khmer architecture. The temple is well known for the so called friendly smiling Buddhist faces carved in stone. So do keep your eyes open in every direction. The complex is beautifully preserved

Ruins of Angkor Thom are spectacular. They are different than Angkor Wat in that they are not part of one religious complex but part of several religious and civil building programmes undertaken over several different centuries. They are also not quite as well preserved as Angkor wat, but the temples, sculptures and building that you'll see there are no less than Iconic. Especially the Bayon Temple and the sculpted city gates. If you have the time in Siem reap don't just visit Angkor Wat, go a bit further and explore the bigger Angkor Thom, You will not regret it.

Ta Prohm Temple, a stunning 12th-century Buddhist site, is a captivating blend of nature and history. Nestled within the lush jungle, this temple showcases the incredible power of nature as towering kapok trees and strangler figs weave their roots through ancient stone structures. While Angkor Wat exemplifies human architectural brilliance, Ta Prohm stands as a testament to the relentless embrace of the jungle over time.
Ta Prohm: Where Nature Reclaims Ancient Stone! As a local guide, Ta Prohm remains one of my absolute favorite temples to share with visitors. Unlike the perfectly restored Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm offers a truly unique and evocative experience, showcasing the raw power of nature intertwining with ancient Khmer architecture. What makes Ta Prohm so special are the colossal silk-cotton and strangler fig trees whose roots have embraced and, in some cases, consumed the temple's stone walls. It's a breathtaking sight that truly transports you back in time, making you feel like an explorer discovering a lost city. This "unrestored" charm, famously featured in the "Tomb Raider" movie, adds an undeniable sense of mystery and adventure. While navigating its crumbling corridors and narrow passages, you'll find countless opportunities for stunning photographs. I always point out the intricate carvings still visible amidst the encroaching foliage, reminding visitors of the incredible artistry that once flourished here. Be prepared for crowds, especially during peak season, but even then, Ta Prohm manages to retain its magical atmosphere. It's a place that speaks volumes about the passage of time and the enduring spirit of both human creation and natural forces. A visit here is not just seeing a temple; it's experiencing a living, breathing testament to history and nature's embrace. Highly recommended for those seeking a truly atmospheric and unforgettable Angkor experience!

Very cool to see the temple based in the Tomb Raider film. Hasn’t been restored to the same level as Angkor Wat but it has a cool rustic charm. Very cool to see how the trees have grown inside the walls. Probably a close second best behind Angkor Wat.

This is the temple famous for the big trees that grow over the temple!! If your are a big tree lover, like me, Ta Prohm needs to be on your bucket list! Their size and tenacity is astounding!😯 🌳 Oh, and the temple is pretty good too!

A mystical jungle temple where huge tree roots overgrow the old stone walls, creating a unique, enchanted atmosphere. Everyone knows that the film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was filmed here in 2000. And anyone who's been here will understand why. The scenery, with tree roots entwined around the walls, is fantastic. Other tourists want to see it too. Taking a "natural" photo requires patience.

Kbal Spean

Nature & Parks
Kbal Spean, also known as the River of a Thousand Lingas, is a historical site in Cambodia dating back to the 11th century. It is nestled amidst lush greenery and features intricate Hindu sculptures and sandstone carvings along the riverbed. To reach this hillside location, visitors must embark on a 1.5-kilometer uphill climb through beautiful large trees.
Kbal Spean: A Local Guide's Hidden Gem!!! As a local guide, I'm always thrilled to introduce visitors to the lesser-known wonders beyond Angkor Wat, and Kbal Spean is undoubtedly one of my top recommendations. Often referred to as the "River of a Thousand Lingas," this ancient site offers a unique blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and a refreshingescape from the bustling temples. Nestled deep in the jungle, the journey to Kbal Spean itself is part of the adventure. A pleasant trek through lush forest leads you to the riverbed, where the true magic unfolds. Here, beneath the clear waters, you'll discover thousands of intricately carved lingas (phallic symbols representing Shiva) and other Hindu deities etched into the sandstone. It's a truly remarkable sight, showcasing the devotion and artistry of the Khmer people centuries ago. Beyond the carvings, the site boasts a beautiful waterfall, especially impressive during the wet season, where you can cool off and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The air is fresh, the sounds of nature are abundant, and the spiritual energy is palpable. Kbal Spean is perfect for those seeking a tranquil and culturally rich experience away from the crowds. It's a place where history, art, and nature converge, offering a deeper understanding of Cambodia's ancient heritage. Don't forget comfortable shoes, as the walk can be a bit uneven, but trust me, the reward is well worth the effort! It's a definite must-visit for anyone looking to explore the hidden depths of Siem Reap's historical landscape.

First of all... I suggest if you're going to attempt this you be in pretty good shape. It's basically 1 mile straight up the side of the mountain climbing over lots of boulders and obstacles. This is definitely not for anyone elderly or with any kind of mobility or balance issues. It's quite a hike back into the jungle to see the waterfall. When I arrived after aboit 40 minutes of hiking there two men swimming butt naked in the water so... You may run into that. Overall very nice hike, very hot though and pretty challenging climb. If you're in shape definitely go for it. Bring lots fo water.
Yelorsirhc — Google review
This is one of my favorite places to hike and enjoy both nature and the vibe of the ancient builders. The Shiva linga's in the water baffle me, the amount of work needed to carve out the depictions in the stone of the mountain is huge and there is a great sense of little detail and symmetry. Good place to walk the dog too

Kbal Spean is one of the most unique and spiritually significant sites in Cambodia’s Angkor region. Often called “The River of a Thousand Lingas,” it’s a sacred site where nature and ancient Khmer spirituality merge.

Kbal Spean: This is an off the beaten track waterfall and historical site, located 48 km north of Siem Reap – on route # 67. To get there from Siem Reap, the best options are by guided tour or on a a motorbike. Note: To visit this site, you’ll need the Angkor Pass. The main sightseeing attractions are the Hindu Rock Carvings, reportedly 1000 years old, which are located at a small, picturesque waterfall site. To see these attractions, you’ll need to make a short hike (1.5 km) through a beautiful jungle landscape. The Jungle Trail: From the parking area, there’s a dedicated trail, with directional signage, which is easy enough to follow. The hike will normally take around thirty minutes as the first 800 meters is a steady incline. The trail eventually leads to the top of the waterfalls area where several Hindu Rock Carvings can be seen. Note: If you visit during the rainy season, there’ll probably be too much water flowing and you won’t see the rock carvings. From the upper level, follow the riverside trail down to the lower level where you can see the Lingam Carvings on the riverbed. At the very bottom of the riverside trail, down a wooden stairway, is the main waterfall. From the top of the stairway, the riverside trail veers back to the main trail and you can return to the parking area. Safe travels, Mega.

The Kbal Spean is a Hindu Temple nestled up on this mountain. You need to have a valid Angkor ticket for access. Carvings of Hindu Gods on the rocks where the river runs , these echoes Hinduism influence in Cambodia. Warning ...IT IS A HIKE TO GET THERE ! you will be walking in jungle weather, it can get really hot and humid. such rewarding waterfalls at the top . our local guide said u can bathe in the waterfall.

Lovely and peaceful place with lots of butterflies, fresh air and or course a fascinating assembly of lingas and ancient carvings. Worth the effort to go there from Siem Reap. Food stalls at the entrance / foot of the mountain of the mountains were a bit overprized but the food being served is good. Picking by the riverside at the waterfall is a great alternative and seems very popular. J

Prasat Beng Mealea is a captivating Angkor Wat-era temple nestled in the Cambodian jungle, located approximately 68km northeast of Siem Reap. The temple, built in the 12th century under Suryavarman II, is shrouded by lush vegetation and surrounded by a vast moat. Its sprawling ruins offer an awe-inspiring experience akin to an adventure from Indiana Jones.
My favorite temple. Truly a fascinating temple that defies explanation. Although the temple is largely destroyed it is an amazing place with some of the most remarkable structures and stone work that you don’t see at others. Something about it just doesn’t fit, it seems to possibly be from an earlier time. Well worth a visit and it does not have the crowds.

Boeng Mealea Temple is a beautiful and natural place to explore. It’s not as crowded as Angkor Wat because it’s a bit far from the city, which makes it peaceful and relaxing. If you plan to visit Phnom Kulen, I highly recommend stopping by here as well. It’s definitely worth it!

Incredible jungle temple, less crowded and more wild than Angkor Wat. Tree roots grow through the ruins—feels like a movie set. Wear good shoes and go early. Tip: visit Angkor National Museum first to better understand the temple’s history.

See what nature will eventually do to all of man's works. This is an awesome place. Still virtually unrestored, Ta Prohm on steroids, the ultimate movie set for a Hollywood epic. This temple is well worth the time and travel to get there. There is nowhere like Beng Melea. If you can fit it into your agenda, if you are here long enough you should make it out here. I have to recommend a tour package though, because it just makes it so much better if you don't have to do all the arrangements, although the tour I took included Preah Vihear, which is another "must see" site, given the military action in the neighborhood, it might not be possible, but only time will tell, but if you can make it there as well it would be all to the good, but at any rate an air-conditioned minivan was the way to go. A lot of dozing was done between sites.
Greg O — Google review
Great temple taken over by the jungle. Like the video game Uncharted! Definitely worth the drive. Take care to take right road (N64), google led us on the wrong path after the road towards the airport. Temple visit is possible with the same ticket as for Ankor Wat. Additionally, the park is home to archaeological sites and a shrine with a large reclining Buddha, offering an enriching experience for those interested in history.

Phnom Kulen: A Sacred Escape into Nature As a local guide, Phnom Kulen National Park is a destination I highly recommend for those looking to combine natural beauty with spiritual significance. Often considered the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire, this sacred mountain offers a refreshing escape from the temple crowds and a chance to connect with Cambodia's rich history and stunning landscapes. The highlight for many visitors is the impressive waterfall, which provides a perfect spot for swimming and relaxation, especially on a warm day. Beyond the cascades, you'll discover the River of a Thousand Lingas, an extraordinary site where thousands of phallic symbols are carved into the sandstone riverbed, a testament to ancient Hindu beliefs. Another significant stop is the Preah Ang Thom pagoda, home to a massive reclining Buddha carved into a natural sandstone boulder. The panoramic views from the top are truly breathtaking and offer a sense of peace and tranquility. Phnom Kulen is not just about historical sites; it's also a place of lush jungle, diverse wildlife, and a cooler climate, making it ideal for a day trip. I always encourage visitors to appreciate the serene atmosphere and the deep cultural importance this mountain holds for the Cambodian people. A perfect blend of history, spirituality, and natural beauty, offering a unique perspective on the Angkor region!

Phnom Kulen National Park is truly a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The scenery is stunning with its lush nature, waterfalls, and sacred atmosphere that makes it very special. It's a great spot for both relaxation and exploring Cambodian culture and history. However, the experience depends a lot on the weather. On rainy days, the river water turns yellow with stronger currents, the mountain view is often covered by mist, and the paths can be quite slippery-so you need to be extra careful. Don't forget to bring a raincoat or umbrella, especially near the waterfall area where the splash can be quite strong. That said, whether sunny or rainy, Phnom Kulen still has its own unique charm and is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended

Siem Reap offers a fantastic location featuring a mountain, a temple, and waterfalls. While the waterfall stands out as the main attraction, the temple and the reclining Buddha at the summit are also impressive, especially for the stunning views they provide. I truly loved the waterfall experience.
Chetra Y — Google review
Lovely views and nature. The waterfall was definitely the highlight, but the temple and the reclining Buddha at the top is also worth seeing if just for the views. The locals were a bit too pushy (even compared to what you get in Siem Reap), and I hope they'll focus a bit on their plastic waste in the future. The walk through the jungles by the 1000 lingas towards the spring was nice too (even if we got caught by sudden rains).

Visiting this park was probably in my top five favorite things that I’ve done in Cambodia over the last three years. From the Temples, to the little village that sells food and has campsites on the river, to the actual waterfall itself, this place is astonishing. It takes a little over an hour by car to get there from the city and it’s well worth it. As a matter of fact, you would be remiss to skip this is part of your travel itinerary as this type of nature and culture experience is just breathtaking.
Riel ( — Google review
Although the park itself is very beautiful we were so gutted to pay 20 dollars each to see the Kulen Waterfall full of rubbish everywhere. It is absolutely not acceptable to pay so much as a tourist and find the park not well looked after. Around the waterfall there are a lot of local businesses and people who live there but it just made the beautiful park look like a slum instead of a beautiful preserved place. The water was cleanish, but I wouldn't consider staying in for too long and bathe as there was also rubbish in the water and the locals wash their clothes at the top of the waterfall. Overall it was a bittersweet experience as we paid quite a lot of money for Cambodia, therefore were expecting to find beautiful preserved nature and what we found was just the remains of human consumption and no maintenance whatsoever. Nevertheless, I am choosing to believe it was worth going.

Koh Ker Temple is a 10th-century complex located in Srayong Cheung village, Cambodia. It was once an ancient capital built by King Jayavaraman IV and is situated on the Chhork Koki highland. This unique temple features a 35-meter high seven-tiered pyramid design, facing west towards Angkor city. Despite being relatively far from Siem Reap, it has recently gained UNESCO recognition and offers stunning views from its designated stairs and walkways.
Koh Ker is a magical place. It feels like you're truly discovering a lost city, with ancient ruins taken over by the jungle. The pyramid is an amazing sight, and the quiet, calm atmosphere makes for an unforgettable visit. A perfect alternative to the more crowded temples. ❤️

Koh Ker Temple is absolutely stunning—especially during the wet season when everything is lush and green. Highly recommend visiting during this time for the full experience!
Mike C — Google review
Discover the awe-inspiring ruins of Koh Ker, a forgotten city that once rivaled Angkor. Unlike the sprawling temples of Angkor Wat, Koh Ker's centerpiece is a majestic seven-tiered pyramid temple, Prasat Thom. This is no ordinary temple; it's a monumental structure that evokes the grandeur of ancient Mesoamerican pyramids, right in the heart of the Cambodian jungle. Imagine a journey into a mysterious and untouched world. Koh Ker is shrouded in a dense, enchanting forest, creating a sense of adventure and discovery. The jungle has reclaimed much of the site, with ancient trees coiling their roots around crumbling stone, offering a breathtaking blend of nature and history. The air is thick with the sounds of exotic birds and the rustle of leaves, making you feel like a true explorer. Climb to the top of the pyramid and be rewarded with a panoramic vista of the lush, green canopy that stretches to the horizon. This is more than a historical site; it's a place of profound peace and raw beauty, a testament to the power of a lost civilization and the relentless embrace of the natural world. Don't just see history—experience it. Koh Ker offers a unique adventure for those seeking to step off the beaten path and into a world where ancient legends and wild nature collide. Are you ready to uncover its secrets?

I went here on a tour, seemed to be a bit rushed, but my choice. An awesome looking pyramid of the type found in Mexico and Central America, South America. The stairs have many steps, well-spaced and they are numbered, no less. the usual hydration rules and taking it slow applies to climbing this, but I think it's worth the trouble. It is a very photogenic temple. When you get to the top there is a dark hole running down the center, which has all the signs of it being looted at some time, but the tour guide said no, we will have to disagree on this one. Incidentally, I also find this temple listed as Prasat Thom, in some books but not on Google Maps. I would highly recommend going here, because of the lack of crowds and the peaceful tranquility of the place, and it looks just the way you would expect it to look, more along the lines of a lost temple, ready-made for an Indiana Jones, or a Lara Croft. If you're wanting to range out for something a little bit different, try this.

Coved by 9km² it's has over 100 temple s there but only 20s temples can visit. It was hard to extend the city this is the reason why they last king moved to Angkor city

A former Khmer Empire city and also abandoned for many years when these country fall into civil war… now it’s good chance to visit as it’s beautiful temple where offerings to many deeply story and especially these giant pyramid temple Koh Ker. It won’t take long for travel to these temple from Siem Reap. I am strongly recommend to client who look for soft adventure…

Impressive, yes. But impressive enough to warrant the time and expense of visiting? Not sure. All reviews describe the ruins as “in the jungle ”. I’d say in the woods, as the trees seem too thin and small to be a jungle, like those around main Angkor temples. The whole complex is much quieter, which is nice, (except I was there with a Cambodian school group😁) and the views from the top of the pyramid, out over the trees, is great. The temples are much more ruinous than Angkor, but most just seem to have collapsed. And the scale is much smaller than Angkor. I made the visit on my way to the airport, saving a bit of time and money. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I go back? Probably not (I’ve been to Angkor 3 times😜)

Climbing to the top (via a staircase added for visitors) rewards you with panoramic views over the surrounding jungle and countryside. This is one of the highest temple structures in Cambodia, and the vistas are especially breathtaking at sunrise or sunset.

Waterfalls
Li Phi Somphamit Waterfalls, also known as Tat Somphamit, is a stunning natural wonder located on Don Khon. The falls are famous for their raging rapids and rocky hills where local fishermen risk their lives to catch fish using bamboo traps. The name 'Li Phi' means 'Spirit Trap,' reflecting the local belief that the falls act as a trap for bad spirits as they wash down the river.
Great waterfalls although smaller than the ones in the other side of the island. 30k entry but if you want to use the suspension bridges it’s another 250k each. We skipped as are on a budget. There’s also a zip line but not sure if it’s operational at the moment.
Henry B — Google review
Very impressive, we were during the end of the rainy season so the Mekong river was very high with water. I highly recommend to pay the extra 12$ to go over the 5 bridges that allow you to walk just above the water very close to the waterfall, a terrific experience.
Gabi Z — Google review
Need to pay for the entrance fee 33,000 kip (same price for Lao and foreigners) if you are Lao no need to pay but you have to show ID card or family documents or drivers license or passport. It's very nice to cross the bridge to the waterfall point with price 250,000kip.
Nang S — Google review
Beautiful waterfalls, there's a nice short trail to walk around the property. You can't swim here. Next to the parking lot there's food and drinks available. Entrance fee: 30.000 Hanging bridges: 250.000 Zip line: 700.000 4 stars because you can't swim here.
Julian A — Google review
We paid 200 kip per person for waterfall experience, and it was amazing! Highly recommend! We crossed 5-6 different bridges across the Mekong river. The view was breathtaking 😍
Kristina — Google review
Nature is always beautiful, but the maintenance of the area is pretty poor now. Prices for zip lines are too high - just bridge costs more than $10 per person to enter. Not something wow, but if you have a lot of free time - why not.
Eleonora A — Google review
Loved it when I visited 2023 for the first time. Will go again tomorrow. If I get a chance I'll stay around here longer. The waterfall is amazing with a small beautiful beach but can't swim everyday only when we are allowed if there is safety.

The zip line is short and a bit expensive (700k per person) but the environment is really worth it!

Khon Phapheng Falls

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Khon Phapheng Falls is an impressive natural wonder located in South Central Laos, near the Four Thousand Islands. It is renowned for being the largest waterfall by volume in Southeast Asia, with millions of liters of water crashing over the rocks every second. The site offers multiple viewpoints to observe the powerful falls and rapids from different angles. While there is a jacked-up price to visit, it's worth experiencing this awe-inspiring display of unrestrained aggression by nature.
This is the largest waterfall by volume in all of Southeast Asia! The entire Mekong river has to go through here. There are multiple viewpoints here which let you see the various falls and rapids from different angles. I highly recommend visiting this place. It is a must-do when you visit Don Det.
Konstantin B — Google review
Stunning place that's also fascinating. I'd definitely visit again. The waterfall is gushing so much and it's even more intriguing that it's the most powerful one in the world when it comes to water flow. In fact, it's more than all of the other top 10 combined. Mind blowing! The toilets come with a small charge but it's fine. They're not the most clean but they're not horrific as well, especially for public toilet standards in Laos. The walk can be a lot in the heat (even though it's not far from the entrance) so please be hydrated.
Ehab A — Google review
Impressive waterfalls!! I think during and after the rainy season they must be even more beautiful full of water 💦
Pilar C — Google review
An amazing waterfall, surrounded by cute paths, interesting flowers and a small temple dedicated to a sacred tree. Definitely worth the visit just for the vibes but also because it's the "largest waterfall by volume in Asia", so that's fun
Kai T — Google review
Khone Pa Soi is a natural Waterfall located on the east side of Don Khone near Si Phan Don - Four Thousand Islands in South Central Laos. It is one of the worth visiting places for visitors while exploring Don Khone Island, which is non-touristy and smaller compared to other waterfalls in the region. The falls are about a 25-minute moto-bike ride from the Don Det-Don Khone Bridge. After riding on a bumpy dirt road that winds through the middle of the island, small signs direct visitors toward a suspension bridge. The bridge is safe, but likely to bring fears of those who care for dangling over rocks and a rushing river. Leaving moto-bikes behind, the falls are just about a 5-minute walk from the bridge. The walk to the waterfalls is adventurous and involves a traipse over a sizeable wooden suspension bridge above the roaring rapids of the falls. From this bridge, visitors can witness the panoramic views of the falls and beautiful countryside consisting of green rice fields. A walk further along the trail takes visitors to other points of the waterfalls. There is also another smaller bridge, which leads to walls built by the French for logging during the colonization times During the rainy season, it may be difficult for tourists to see much of the falls, and be prepared to get wet LoL
Dinh T — Google review
Amazing views with beautiful nature and waterfall good place for relaxing with peace❤ Better visit during winter or summer not raining season because the rain will cause the water turn to yellow😉
Seeda L — Google review
Awesome! World’s 3rd largest by annual flow. Better go take picture at the last view point. You can walk down to the shore, very close to the falls, a bit scary tho.

Nestled within the protected area of Boeng Yeak Lom, Lake Yeak Laom is a stunning emerald crater lake that captivates visitors with its crystal-clear waters and lush jungle surroundings. This serene destination in northeastern Cambodia offers an idyllic setting for swimming, thanks to several wooden piers that line its perimeter. The lake, formed by a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago, boasts impressive depth while still being safe for swimmers equipped with life jackets.
Nice view, good place for picnic and swimming. The water is really green! Would be lovely to visit in low season. It could be crowded in national holidays as it is also a popular tourist spot among local.

Yak Lom Lake is a hidden gem in Ratanakiri. Just a short drive from Banlung, this peaceful volcanic lake is surrounded by dense forest and has incredibly clear, cool water—perfect for a refreshing swim. The circular shape of the lake is pretty striking, and the whole area feels calm and untouched. There’s a nice walking path around the lake, with places to sit and take in the view. It’s also a special place for local indigenous communities, which gives it a deeper sense of meaning. If you’re in Ratanakiri, don’t miss it—it’s easily one of the most relaxing spots in the region.

Having said, this lake existed after the eruption of volcano thousands years ago. It’s a very deep lake, but you still can swim using swimming lifeguard suits. Nothing much to do here but you can enjoy shopping local products especially ancient tribal wine. Try it. Restaurants are also available but people don’t usually stay here longer. Your choice, and enjoy your journey. :)

A lovely old place, i spent time with the head Nun at the back in the living quarters for the orphans. It was good to see arable farm land being put to use. With a small amount of livestock,Sisters' most driving need was food, food to feed 180 mouths, average age 6yrs old live on donations and the grace of God. So please if you visit this grand Street front cathedral please leave a donation how ever small.

Majestic church in Kon Tum! This 100 years old church was made from wood. The church design is a combination of Roman architecture and traditional stilt house style of Bahnar people. It is called a wooden church because the main material to build this church is wood abundant in the Central Highlands. All structures from columns, trusses, to floors are made of wood and glued together tenons without nails. The ceilings and walls are plastered with earthen materials mixed with straw in the style of the traditional houses of Central Vietnam. There is no reinforced concrete or mortar used. Must visit place in Kon Tum city!

Must visit spot in Kon Tum city. This is 100 year old wooden cathedral. French built this by combining Roman catholic and local architecture. It took 6 years to complete and still stay intact. People use local instruments for prayers. Propably one of a kind. You can spend short time inside praying. Sunday is the best time to visit.

The Mercure French Village is a beautiful hotel and a lovely place to stay. We really appreciated having direct access to the park, and our room was modern, clean, and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and always helpful, which made the stay even better. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of foods. The only downside for me was the smell of cigarette smoke in the bedroom but overall we truly enjoyed our stay.

I had a wonderful trip here with my family. However, there were a few issues regarding our room. Fortunately, a very helpful staff member assisted us. Her name is SUNI. She enthusiastically advised me on the room options, pricing, and the services available, which made my trip much smoother. Due to the unexpected nature of my work, I had to leave the hotel before I could thank her in person. Please help convey my gratitude to Ms. SUNI. Thank you to everyone for making my vacation even more wonderful. See you!

I came back here after a year, this time with my family on my birthday. The weather in November up here is quite harsh in my opinion =))) so my experience wasn’t exactly perfect. The food didn’t suit my taste, the room was noisy because of the neighbors, and the interior and architecture seem to have deteriorated. These issues were already present the first time I visited in May 2024, but they still haven’t been improved. Perhaps the only thing that really impressed me was the customer service. A family member of mine had dinner here and ended up with food poisoning. Fortunately, a staff member named SUNI and the medical team quickly came to help and were extremely attentive. Luckily, my family member is okay now. I hope that next time I come, the hotel will still be operating and will have renovated the rooms so the trip can be more enjoyable. You should visit here in spring or summer for a better experience, as winter can be quite rough

They communicated really well. I read all sorts of reviews re confusing check in ..as soon as u get there, look for a mercure staff in uniform and they would take care of you I read that the rooms had thin walls...true but probably as the neighbours were walking past but never lasting more than 1 min Breakfast..good selection and farah was so kind to my mum as she was patient with howshe wanted her coffee Dinner buffet...good price and quality..even juice and water were inc Maison du roi..great food To finish it, we forgot a handbag in the room and contacted them while we were on the cable car....they r bringing it down as I am writing the review. What can I say...memorable and super pleasant stay. Looks chaotic but they somehow have it worked out really well. Thank u mercure staff We would be back soon with friends and the rest of the family

First time staying at Mercure French Village. I love the design of the hotel; it makes me feel like I am in the middle of a French city. I really appreciate the excellent service from Lucia. She added me on WhatsApp and promptly replied to all of my requests. During our trip to Ba Na Hills, there were many things I didn’t understand, and she assisted me by answering all my questions. I am truly grateful to her. We also had the chance to have dinner at L’ETable! The food was amazing, and the service from Mira was exceptional. She took great care of us during dinner at L’ETable and also during breakfast. We were really happy with her service. **Things to Improve:** This time, our room had a cleanliness issue, which I hope the hotel can improve. **Tips for Travelers:** If you book a stay at Hotel Mercure French Village, there is a dedicated area for you to drop off your car and check in. They can sell you discounted cable car and Ba Na Hills tickets, so you won’t have to queue with other travelers. There is a specific cable car reserved just for hotel guests. Also, the next day, from 06:00–06:05 am, 06:30–06:35 am, and 07:00–07:05 am, the hotel offers an early cable car service to the Golden Bridge exclusively for hotel guests. This allows you to escape the crowds and take photos in peace.

My Son is a captivating historical site located in the serene Duy Phu Commune of Quang Nam Province, approximately 69 km southwest of Danang. This UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases the remnants of Hindu temples built between the 4th and 14th centuries, characterized by stunning red brick structures adorned with intricate carvings. Once an imperial city during the Cham dynasty, My Son served as a significant cultural and religious hub for this ancient civilization.
Highly recommend adding this to your Vietnam itinerary! The site is beautiful and has so much history. You are able to walk around and go inside many of the buildings. There are three sites to visit and there is a pavilion which has a show a couple times a day. There is also a small restaurant on the property.

We visited very early today (~7AM) and we were the first guests to enter the area which was very nice. Overall we had a nice morning there and the temples, altars and other Chamba buildings were very interesting. Can highly recommend to do the tour with a guide.

Nice historic site made of ancient ruined Hindu temples easily accessible from Danang and Hoi An. We visited in low rainy season and were the only visitors on site which was quite spectacular in many ways ! If you feel like walking a bit, it is only a 2-km walk from the entrance to the site and quite a lovely journey. There is a 15-minute traditional show at the end of the tour to close the visit. First show of the day this time of year was at 9:45am. Therefore all tourist buses and groups are not aiming to arrive on site before 8:30-9:00. I did not feel it was so impressive but definitely a nice and interesting visit.

A great little morning trip out of Hoi An. Very interesting site in a really lovely location. Come with a guide and you’ll learn a lot. We did an early morning guided tour from Hoi An, arriving at My Son at 6.30am and it was perfect time, so quiet and you got to have a really open and comfortable experience.

Visiting My Son was an unforgettable experience! The site is incredibly atmospheric, surrounded by lush greenery, and the ancient temples and ruins are absolutely fascinating. Walking through the area really gives you a sense of the history and culture of the Champa Kingdom. We were amazed by the architecture and the peacefulness of the site. It’s less crowded than other tourist spots, which makes it even more special to explore at your own pace. A visit to My Son is a must for anyone traveling to Vietnam, both for history lovers and anyone who enjoys beautiful, serene landscapes.

Mesmerizing historical site, featuring ancient Cham temples set amidst lush, green landscapes. The intricate stone carvings and ruins reflect a rich cultural heritage and impressive architectural skill. Walking through the sanctuary feels like stepping back in time. Guided tours enhance understanding, though it can get hot, so bring water and sun protection. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and culture lovers exploring Vietnam.
LEVI S — Google review
Beautiful place, although brickwork looks slightly dated and in need of some maintenance. All jokes aside, this Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is an incredible UNESCO world heritage site that is definitely worth it if you are in the region. There is so much to see when walking amongst these ruins that would have been a prominent religious place in their day. The carvings, sculptures, and feeling of walking up stairs and through chambers that people worshipped in centuries ago is a timeless reminder of our human spirit. Logistically, We rode a scooter there from Hoi An, sweated through our clothes in the heat, then had coconut coffees. Magical.

Laguna is a stunning golf course. I would recommend any golf enthusiast to try it out. I am my friends were blown away by the landscape. The course isn't the toughest, and the caddies were helpful. The food was generally good at the clubhouse, too. My only gripe was about some of the policies and other customers. I didn't feel the need to deduct a star, but it needed to be noted. There is a policy of no driving the golf cart on the fairway. However, a team of locals behind us were allowed to. We were told one of them had an injury, but then why was he on the course? Also, another group we ran across were quite impolite an uncivilised. Not exactly the course's problem, but it did give some wrong impression

Spectacular in every way. Awesome hold course. Great layout. Greens could have been better but they have just been sanded. I highly recommend.
Patrick O — Google review
Couple of things that really wet a bad tone here... 1. Driving range charge for balls .. at a place like this that is ridiculous. 2. Caddie made me wait until exactly my tee time although I was a 1 ball and teeing off first at 6am 3. Water is charged at $7 usd a bottle... 4. Course condition is horrific, ground staff everywhere blowing non existent leaves whilst the greens die from compaction. The head greenskeeper should be fired immediately. The course layout is great but the condition combined with the cost makes it a hard no from me. I will not be back.
Mike H — Google review
In the condition we played on it’s a 1 star. T box to fairway 8/10 condition, around the greens 4/10 and putting greens1/10. Course should be more forthcoming about the greens rather than hiding behind fancy promo names why there are specials. Very disappointed as we spent over an hour driving each way to course after flying to Danang . Yes, discounted but if we had known how bad the greens are we would not have played here.
Laura T — Google review
80 mins drive from Danang and gota cross 2 mountains before to reach this course. Nice course layout and terrain. But green very bad condition. Also very slow play and every shot waited for 5 to 10 mins ... 6 over hours to complete 18 holes. Marshals should look at the pace of play. Course layout and terrain 4.5/5 The green and pace of play were bad and therefore I am giving a 3 stars

I and the most wonderful tome yesterday at this great course. I first saw a picture of the 9th hole in a magazine years ago and that made me always want to go. It lived up to my expectations and more. The service is outstanding and the owners should be very proud of all of the staff, from the greeters, to the girls in the shop, the people in the bar and restaurant and the people in the locker room. The groundstaff working hard were all friendly along with the caddies and course Marshall.. the staff here are ALL Outstanding and wonderful. The course itself is either my favourite or 2nd favourite in Vietnam, its very close. The design is fantastic, even hole is different. I absolutely loved it.

The lantern-lit ambiance gives the area a magical charm, perfect for strolling, taking photos, and soaking up the unique charm of Hội An. The market itself is vibrant and diverse, with a wide variety of shops and stalls lining the street. You’ll find everything from handmade lanterns, souvenirs, and local handicrafts to jewelry, clothes, and small trinkets that make for perfect keepsakes. Many vendors also sell delicious street food and snacks, giving you the chance to try authentic flavors while exploring. What makes the market special is not just the shopping, but the overall vibe. The streets are lively yet relaxed, filled with music, laughter, and the warm hospitality of local vendors. You can feel both the local culture and the tourist buzz blending together in a way that feels festive and welcoming. Being located right by the Thu Bồn River, the night market also offers a chance to enjoy the riverside scenery. You can take a lantern-lit boat ride, admire the reflections of colorful lights on the water, or simply sit back and enjoy the bustling evening atmosphere. For anyone staying in Đà Nẵng, a trip to Hội An Night Market is definitely worth it. It’s an easy day trip that transforms into an unforgettable evening with beautiful lanterns, unique shopping, and an energetic yet cozy vibe that captures the essence of Hội An.

The boat ride was fun, best done at night. Cost us 170,000 for a boat for 2 people. Tried charging us 50,000 per lantern, once we said no, offered us 2 lanterns for 20,000 🫠 -Boat ride itself was around 20 minutes , scenery is great with all the street lanterns and other boats. The night market itself was like any other standard night market, nothing very special about it. However, some vendors promoted that they would not hassle customers to buy which was a nice touch 🙂

Hoi An Night Market is a must-visit! The vibrant atmosphere, colorful lanterns, and variety of local street food make it a perfect evening spot. Great place to shop for souvenirs, handmade crafts, and try Vietnamese snacks. It’s lively but not overwhelming — a memorable cultural experience in the heart of Hoi An.

Hoi An's night view was absolutely stunning! The boat ride was an amazing experience, with its aesthetic beauty leaving a lasting impression. Ticketing was hassle-free, with tickets available within minutes. However, Fabric shop prices were steep, being about three times the original price. There was lantern making classes as well .The only downside was the overwhelming crowd, even on weekdays - I can only imagine how busy it gets on weekends! On the bright side, the numerous eating joints near the lake added to the picturesque scenery, making it a truly memorable experience.

Hoi An Night Market :) A place full of big, beautiful things! I sent my wish into the sky — for peace of mind and good health for me and my family. That’s all I really need :) As long as my heart is calm and my family stays healthy, everything else can be enjoyed, learned, and achieved along the way. I just hope to become a better version of myself than yesterday, and to stay away from the foolishness of chasing unhappiness by comparing myself to others. -BOFF

Exploring the Hoi An Night Market is a wonderful experience. Walking through the vibrant lantern lit street is amazing and magical. It is lively atmosphere, with a mix of modern and traditional. Enjoyed exploring the different colorful stalls, sharpening my bargaining skills, trying out delicious street foods. It's about feeling the warmth and charm of the locals.

Beautiful at night with the lights and hustle and bustle of the crowds. It started raining heavily so I bought a cheap umbrella (left mine at the hotel,) but still a great experience. Lots of shops and restaurants, a fun place to walk around.

Hoi An is a must visit as it's only 40 minutes away from Danang. It's like walking through a place in history. If you don't like the noise of the bars and restaurants, you can walk further inside where you will find many great shops. We bought a whole bunch of lanterns to bring back home.

Japanese Covered-Bridge

Sights & Landmarks
Chùa Cầu Phố cổ Hội An, also known as the Japanese Covered Bridge, is a significant landmark in Hoi An, Vietnam. This 18th-century wooden bridge showcases elaborate carvings and a pedestrian passageway. Originally built by the Japanese community to connect with the Chinese quarters, it has retained its ornate design over the centuries. The French made alterations for cars but the original arched shape was restored later on.
The Japanese Bridge, located in Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most fascinating cultural attractions in Vietnam. Built in the 17th century, this monument has witnessed many changes in the town. If you come to Hoi An, it is a must-visit. The Japanese Bridge is called Chua Cau Bridge in Vietnamese. It was built by Japanese merchants to connect with the Chinese neighborhood. It was built for communication and connections and has a very important meaning. The Japanese Bridge in Hoi An is considered a beautiful representation of the town’s long history. For centuries, this bridge has connected the past, present, and future. In 1719, Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu visited Hoi An and inscribed the name “Lai Vien Kieu” in three characters at the entrance of the bridge. This means “Lai Vien Kieu” in Vietnamese and “Bridge to Welcome Guests from Far Away” in English. Also, because this tower was mainly built by the Japanese, it was named the "Japanese Bridge" or "Japanese Covered Bridge." Although it is commonly called the "Japanese Bridge," it is a unique combination of Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese cultures in terms of building materials, design, patterns, and decorations. On February 17, 1990, this bridge was designated as a national historic and cultural heritage. There are a dog and a monkey at the entrance and exit of the bridge, respectively. These two statues symbolize the guardian deities of the bridge, as they symbolize protection and safety in Japanese culture. It is also said that these two statues mean that the construction began in the Year of the Monkey and was completed in the Year of the Dog. Various cafes and restaurants have been built on both sides of the street centered around the Japanese Bridge, utilizing old and quaint houses. The old cultural heritage of Hoi An (UNESCO World Heritage) and the appearance of the ancient city still remain along the street. There are many unique cafes and restaurants here. There are also many shops selling traditional specialties, handmade products, and souvenirs on the street. And there are various galleries of various genres gathered here. This street was also a place where trade between Vietnam and Japan was active in the 17th century. It is a place with many things to see, so I recommend you visit. Unlike the daytime, the nighttime scenery is also breathtakingly beautiful.

It's a nice bridge but don't get your expectations too high! You'll enjoy taking pictures there if it's not too crowded. I think this place is more interesting if you are into historical stuff, the origin of the bridge, architecture, etc. Other that that... It's a bridge!
Dimitri S — Google review
Free to walk across the bridge and take as many photos as you would like. If you buy a ticket from the ticket office nearby (170,000) - you can enter here and numerous other historical sites in the town. However, there is not a lot to see inside just an information board about the bridge - a quick Google could save you the time. Took around 5-10 minutes for everything, and most tours will bring you here 🙂

This iconic landmark sits in the heart of Hoi An’s Old Town and offers both charm and history. Built in the late 16th century by Japanese traders, it connected their settlement with the Chinese quarter across the river and symbolized peace between the communities. It’s beautifully decorated and famously guarded by statues of dogs and monkeys at either end — symbolic of the years it began and was completed. The area can get quite busy, especially around lunchtime, late afternoon, and into the evening when the lighting is perfect for photos. Many visitors gather on the riverbank to capture the bridge in all its charm. Despite the crowds, it’s a must-visit while exploring the Old Town.

The rich history of Hoi An is captured beautifully by this landmark bridge and the nearby Chinese temple, but the true charm of old Hoi An lies in the glorious street scene with shops, restaurants and coffee outlets galore, and as far as we could tell they’re all awesome. Each evening the locals put on events like the lantern parade on the river, and the spectacular Hoi An memories show which I personally cannot recommend highly enough.

If you’re visiting Hoi An, don’t miss this little gem! The whole town feels full of history and charm, and this shop fits right in. Khoi Khoi Design has so many beautiful handmade dresses — unique pieces for both adults and kids. The quality and design really stand out, and each piece feels one of a kind. The owner was so kind and patient, helping me find the perfect fit. I love that everything is locally made — such a meaningful souvenir to bring home. Definitely worth a visit if you have 2 days in Hoi An!

The Hoi An Covered Bridge is known a the tourist symbol of the Old Town. One of the highlights on Hoi An tourism with its quiet street scenery. The pagoda is designed with wood imbued with Japanese style with a graceful roof and the foundation is made of stone pillars.

Interesting stopping place in Hoi An. On the tourist ticket list but no one asked to see the ticket so could have got it free. About 10 minutes needed but the nearby souvenir shops and other old buildings are worth a visit.

An Bang Beach, located just 3 kilometers east of Hoi An, is a serene escape that beautifully combines natural beauty with local charm. This picturesque beach features soft white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters, making it an ideal spot for sunbathing or enjoying the gentle waves. The area is lined with charming beach huts and offers a variety of eateries where you can savor fresh seafood and refreshing cocktails while soaking in stunning views of Da Nang Bay and the Marble Mountains.
It's a nice beach with fine sand. I went there during week days so it wasn't busy. The beach is clean and water temperature is perfect to cool down. There are a few vendors trying to sell you stuff but they are very polite and might have a quick chat with you.

A great spot to unwind, An Bang Beach offers a clean stretch of sand, plenty of shade under beach huts, and rows of loungers perfect for relaxing. The beachfront is lined with a mix of thatched umbrellas and green canvas canopies, giving it a tropical feel. There’s a safety net installed along the swimming area which is a thoughtful touch, especially on busier days. The beach was clean and pleasant to walk along barefoot. At the top of the beach, you’ll find a long line of restaurants and bars. Most of the better spots (and better prices) are on the right-hand side if you’re facing the ocean – definitely worth walking all the way down to compare. It can get quite crowded during the hotter afternoons, but that only adds to the lively vibe. Whether you’re in the mood for a swim, a sunbathe, or a chilled coconut under a hut, this beach delivers a great afternoon escape.

Very nice and cleaner than I thought from reading reviews. Very very long walkable beach with sand. Sand can get very hot so make sure to bring footwear. Otherwise the water is nice and clear and you do not need water shoes. Not much to snorkel here but if you have goggles there are some different fish to see as well as occasional jellyfish… The beach chairs and umbrellas are free if you order food and drinks from the restaurants which own those chairs…

Clean, beautiful stretch of beach. Warm water, soft sand, and calm waves perfect for the whole family. Plenty of good restaurants lined along the beach, if you order food from them then you dont have to pay the lounger and umbrella. We are lucky that we are staying just a good 5 minutes walk away from the beach. During our stay, we get to do our early morning walk and swim in the morning.

An Bang Beach in Hoi An is a beautiful and relaxing spot with soft sand and clear water. It’s a great place to swim, walk, or just unwind by the sea. There are plenty of beachside cafes and restaurants where you can grab a drink or meal while enjoying the view. It can get a bit crowded later in the day, but the atmosphere is laid-back and friendly. A perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon in Hoi An.

Wide, expansive golden sands meet calm waters (not the clearest, but overall fine)—perfect for relaxing strolls. Super pleasant vibe with tons of beachfront restaurants offering fresh eats right on the sand. Rented a surfboard easily and had a blast catching waves. Highly recommend!
Tzvi A — Google review
perfect spot for both local and foreign tourists. The water is purely blue and the vibe is feasty on the beach. There are many food options with reasonable price. Totally safe and worth the money
Trinh P — Google review
An Bang is the closest beach to Hoi An Ancient Town, so it might be the only one you visit while you're here. It's close enough that you can easily head back for a lantern-lit dinner, but far enough to give you a real beach escape vibe. Whether you're there for a few hours or a few days, An Bang Beach offers that slow, coastal magic that's hard to leave behind!

Amazing value for money, the owner is extremely helpful and communicative. The restaurant that is literally next door is one of the best we tried on our trip. Very close to the ferry to go to Cham island (5 minutes by foot) so is perfect if that's your next stop.

You get what you pay for. Amenities worked in my case, had to ask to find a working fridge. Location is beautiful and air is good. But it's kinda remote and everything is overpriced around there. Hard to get a bike taxi sometimes. The place is deprecated, falling apart and nobody gives a damn.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I was supposed to stay for 5 nights but checked out after the 1st night as it was so unbearable. I haven’t received a refund yet for the last 4 nights but I had to get out of there. It was filthy, smelly and depressing. I know it’s cheap but I pay only a bit more for a nice guest house where I normally live. DO NOT STAY HERE Edit: finally received a partial refund for the last 3 nights but had to argue for days and they refused a refund of the last four nights unused.

My experience was excellent, but you should have my taste : - the location is at the end of the city, quiet, beautiful view and only 5-10 min scooter ride to the center , 2km to the beautiful beach. But you must have a transport ( rent a scooter) otherwise it’s not convenient to order grab every time you want to go out. - the staff are very nice welcoming people, the English is slow but manageable. I enjoyed it, hopefully you do also

Visited in March 25. Huge building slightly dilapidated and outdated but I was ok with that like stuck in a time warp. Complimentary water toothbrush paste and shampoo. What I was not ok with while I was there was barking dogs in the neighborhood from 10pm onwards into the night making it impossible to sleep. Mossies were also an issue buzzing about your ears all night which was intolerable even trying to write this review is next to impossible with them. Someone inconsiderately playing their TV far too loud. I wouldn't say it was quiet and peaceful like some reviews here.

Yes, it's an old and run down building, but the service is pretty fantastic, we did have a little problem with one of the rooms and they switched us no problem. One of the cheapest rooms we could get. So really no complaints here
Sebbo G — Google review
DO NOT STAY HERE the rooms are filthy and are riddled with termites and mould the pictures are nothing like the rooms. We had to change rooms as soon as we got here and complained about the second room the staff are unbothered and will not help
