Historical place
The Badami Cave Temples, located in the town of Badami in Karnataka, India, are a set of Hindu cave temples dating back to the 6th century A.D. These temples showcase impressive rock-cut architecture and feature statues carved directly from the surrounding rock. The town of Badami is also known for its ancient cave temples and served as the capital of the Chalukya Empire.
The ancient cave temples, majestic fort, and tranquil Agastya Lake offered a perfect blend of history, spirituality, and natural beauty. Walking through centuries-old carvings and gazing over the lake was truly peaceful. Highly recommended for anyone who loves heritage and quiet reflection. The caves are very well preserved and reflect the rich culture. Must visit place. Spend your evening at the Agastya lake. Very calming and beautiful sunset.

The Badami Cave Temples are a true architectural marvel and a window into India’s ancient history. Carved into red sandstone cliffs, each cave tells a story through stunning sculptures, intricate carvings, and peaceful spiritual vibes. Dedicated to Hindu deities like Shiva and Vishnu, as well as Jain figures, the site perfectly reflects the harmony of diverse faiths from the 6th century. The view from the caves is breathtaking-overlooking Agastya Lake and the majestic fort hills around it. As you climb from one cave to another, the artistry seems to get even more impressive. The highlight is the magnificent statue of Nataraja in Cave 1 and the beautiful Vishnu avatars in Cave 2 and 3. The atmosphere is calm, clean, and great for photography and learning about history. You may need to climb a bit, so comfortable footwear is recommended. Local guides are very helpful if you want to understand the stories behind the carvings. Overall, Badami Cave Temples are a must-visit heritage destination in Karnataka perfect for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys exploring India’s rich cultural past. Truly a place where nature, art, and devotion come together!

The place is very good and historical importance. Road to reach the spot are narrow , but there are road for cars to go. Don't rely on local rikshaw guys they will fool for money . Once you reach there .take proper govt approved guide he will show you around .everting is walking distance . It's beautiful in morning and early evening ..
Kaustubha D — Google review
Beautiful architecture that makes you so proud to know the legacy of this nation and is history. We took a female guide - Munira ( can't remember her name) who explained everything really well. The most amazing nugget is how everything has been carved from one rock. Even the ceilings have intricate and mesmerizing sculptures/carvings...all done with a simple hammer and chisel. It was humbling and a matter of pride. I do hope the government takes steps to both preserve the monuments and to get the world heritage tag. The surrounding area is peaceful. Just keep a lookout for the monkeys - they won't do anything unless you happen to have food packets with you. The guides will give you a full tour of all 4 caves. There's a fair bit of climbing and some of the steps near the 3rd cave are steep. But do try not to miss the 3rd cave as the carvings are utterly breathtaking
Leena N — Google review
One of the best monuments I have visited in my life... Very fine encarvings in the caves and all the sculpture represent a unique story in itself and it tells us our ancient history and culture. The scenery around the Agastya lake and bhutnath temple is so much beautiful and it gives a calmness and serenity in your busy life. The caves are really beautiful and I felt really great that I witnessed the beauty of nature and human artisanship at one place I loved the Badami Cabe temples and the complex surrounding

Absolutely stunning place with incredible rock-cut architecture and breathtaking views from the top! I’m surprised this historical gem isn’t more popular. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves ancient history, art, and architecture. Badami Cave Temples truly deserve more attention

Must visit place. Panoramic view, peaceful place. The Badami Caves are ancient rock-cut temples carved into red sandstone cliffs. They showcase stunning sculptures dedicated to Hindu and Jain deities, reflecting Chalukyan artistry.
Shubham M — Google review
The Badami Cave Temples are an architectural and historical marvel — a must-visit destination for anyone fascinated by ancient Indian art, culture, and history. Situated in Karnataka’s Bagalkot district, these magnificent rock-cut temples date back to the 6th and 7th centuries during the reign of the Chalukya dynasty and stand as a testament to the brilliance of early Indian rock architecture. Carved into striking red sandstone cliffs overlooking Agastya Lake, the complex consists of four main caves, each distinct in its design, deities, and intricate carvings. Cave 1 is dedicated to Lord Shiva and features breathtaking sculptures, including a magnificent 18-armed Nataraja. Caves 2 and 3, devoted to Lord Vishnu, showcase exquisite depictions of his various forms such as Trivikrama and Narasimha — among the finest carvings in South India. Cave 4, dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras, represents the later phase of Badami’s artistic evolution. The craftsmanship, precision, and storytelling reflected in every wall and pillar are extraordinary. The panoramic view from the caves — overlooking the serene lake and rugged terrain — is simply mesmerizing and makes the climb well worth it. The site is well maintained, though visitors should be ready for some walking and stair climbing. It’s best to visit early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Basic facilities like parking and rest areas are also available nearby.

This is a must visit museum in the city of Bagalkot! It archives some of the best moments in the history of development of UKP (Upper Krishna Projevt), Bagalkot Nava Nagar, and the historical heritage sites of the region. Very spacious, sufficiently lit and well ventilated. Has lots of articles of interest. Facilities of drinking water and clean restrooms are available at the premise. There is still scope for improving this museum and attracting a larger crowd. A great day for school outings and family picnic can be planned.
Vipul D — Google review
One best place for visit our family.. So beautiful of village nature and old stones and statues and old coins all available for sawing
Arjun C — Google review
The museum contains information about Anthropological aspects related to different festivals of north and south Karnataka, live stiles of rural societies, cattle raring and different occupations along with human size live modals. other than that the museum also holds picture expeditions about dams all around Karnataka, historical artifacts, coin and stamp collection and stone sculptures of pre historic times. Fun and learning place for School trips.
ABHISHEK S — Google review
The museum is located in Navanagara close to DC office and City Municipal Council. The entry fee is ₹10 which is really reasonable. The place could be well maintained. The artifacts and sculptures are worth a watch. The lifestyle and history of the city of BAGALKOTE is brought up well by the sculptures. If you are around the city and want to spend some quality time pls do visit the Museum. Parking wise there is good parking space for both 2 and 4 wheelers. Auto also is available from and to Bus Stop which is near by around 1-1.5km

Shree Renuka Yallamma Devi temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Hindu site dedicated to the goddess Yellamma, with an annual procession drawing crowds of followers.
Visiting Yellamma Temple in Saundatti was truly a wonderful and divine experience. The temple is very powerful, and you can genuinely feel positive vibrations as you pray and walk around. For us, Yellamma is not just a deity but our house goddess, making the visit even more special and emotional. However, while the spiritual energy of the temple is pure and uplifting, the behavior of some people around the temple was quite disappointing. Without your permission, some individuals apply thilak on your forehead and immediately demand money. Others try to sell items aggressively — if you refuse, they even sneak items into your bag and then insist you pay for them. It’s important to stay alert and cautious in these situations. Bargaining is common, but sadly, it feels more like you are dealing with a market rather than experiencing peaceful devotion. Also, most items being sold are overpriced, and purchasing them is unnecessary. Adding to the disappointment, the surroundings are often littered, which spoils the beauty and sanctity of such a powerful place. Overall, if you focus only on the temple and the divine energy of Yellamma, the visit is deeply fulfilling. But it’s better to be careful, avoid unnecessary purchases, and protect your peaceful experience
Nandini S — Google review
We believe in god. This review is not about the Devi Renuka yallamma but about the shameless management who is managing this temple. There is no proper maintenance, plastic everywhere, people using innocent kids for begging that too inside the temple. No gaurds to control the crowd. Totally disappointed with the maintenance. Such a shameful for Karnataka government for maintaining this famous temple in this bad condition.
Sunil M — Google review
1stly Get the holy water and visit jamadagni and finally visit devine place of yallamma( Renuka). Fees: 1.Regular -Free 2. 100/- special Darshan per head 3. 500/- near garbhagudi 4. Vehicle Pooja 500/--1000/-.
Ameet G — Google review
Very devotional place 🙏 It’s so beautiful and peaceful 😌 It is located in the YELLAMMANA GUDDA which is almost near Hubli On the way to the temple, you will get to see the SAVADATTI FORT 🏰 which is so big. On the way back from the temple, there is a beautiful waterfalls. The temple is so big And especially during jathre or full moon day, there will be heavy crowd of pilgrims from different parts of the country in the temple You’ve to wait for a long time to take darshan And avoid wearing gold jewelleries or carrying any other valuables during these days or else there will be the chances of getting it lost in the crowd and you won’t even get the lost things back Even special darshan takes a lot of time. They will allow the elder people who can’t stand in the queue for the direct entry into the temple. Mixture of Kumkuma, Arishina and flowers is casted all over the temple by the devotees.
Khushi — Google review
Renuka Yellamma Devi Temple, Saudatti One of the most worshipped and strong devi 🙏 Currently temple is under construction and heard that temple will be closed for next few years - please check with someone before visiting.
Chetan Y — Google review
The surroundings of this premise is very dirty and nobody is there to clean it. It's all covered in cow dunks (poop), garbage etc. There are 3 ways to enter the temple, 1st is completely free and far away from the devi, 2nd is paid entry with little fees which gets you a little bit closer to devi but the poojari is very bad mouth in there and not letting anyone stand there for even 2 seconds and complete their prayer, and 3rd one is expensive which will get you inside the mandap with your family for special pooja. The main problem is on the exit, the moment you exit the temple there are several beggars (mostly female) begging for money and all of them are sitting behind a steel fence in line till the premise of the temple is complete. Administration of the temples should do something about this.
Abhay R — Google review
Went on Monday and it was smooth dharshan. I visited probably after 5 to 6 years and I feel there is quite a good change around. No much begging and harassing if devotees, surroundings are fairly clean and queues are managed well. It could be more better and I am kind of sure in years to come it would. But from what I had seen in my childhood days almost 2 to 3 decades back and now things have been remarkably better. It feels good!

Gokak Waterfalls: The Niagara of Karnataka Gokak Waterfalls, often referred to as the Niagara of Karnataka, is a spectacular natural wonder located in the Belagavi district of Karnataka, India. Experience: Visited in the morning. Scenery: Beautiful view with a good amount of morning fog, creating a serene atmosphere. You can also see birds and hear them chirping, which adds to the charm. Maintenance: Well-preserved and easy to explore. Accessibility: Steep climb; normal older buses may struggle. We got off the bus and walked, and it turned out to be a fantastic walk. Yellur Fort is one of the most impressive historical places to visit in Belgaum. It is also known as Rajhansgarh fort perched at the top of a hill. The fort was built by the Ratta dynasty and later rebuilt or renovated in stone by Asad Khan Lari. It was strategically positioned as a watchtower to monitor enemy movements. A, 43 feet tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was inaugurated by Karnataka CM in the center of the fort on March 2, 2023, mentioning its significance during his era. Yellur fort has also a beautiful temple known as Siddheshwar (Lord Shiva) temple, is a significant landmark within the fort The fort is a major tourist attraction of the city offering a blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty. Ancient Shri Kamala Basadi

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
The Kamal Basadi Jain temple was constructed in 1204 by Minister Bichiraja for King Kartaveerya of the Ratta Dynasty. The temple is named after its lotus-shaped design and features a beautifully carved green marble idol of Shri Neminath Thirtankar. Additionally, there is another temple within the complex that requires restoration. The ceiling is adorned with a lotus flower pattern, and various statues can be found throughout the temple.
Old Jain Basti with beautiful architecture. Pillar and roof top cravings are mesmerising. One can visit this site, I request the archeological department and government to please take care of this Jain Basti. No ticket, No waiting time, No crowd, plenty of parking space is available. 30- 40 minutes of watch time. Good vibes.. 😎

The most prominent and iconic symbol of Jain's centuries old temple 'Kamal Basadi' is located inside Belgavi fort. This temple, also known as Shri Neminath Tirthankar was built in 1204 CE by Bichiraja of the Ratta Dynasty. The temple's Ranga Mandap has a massive stone Lotus ceiling, hence the name Kamal Basadi. The lotus has 72 petals believed to represent 24 tirthankaras of past, present and future. The pillars are well-carved with decorations and neatly polished. The mukhamandapa of the temple is considered an architectural masterpiece. The architecture of the temple is striking and definitely worth appreciating. The surroundings are very peaceful and full of greenary. The Chikki Basadi and a priest's house is located near the Kamala Basadi. There is no entry ticket and no crowd all the time. This Jain Temple stands as a testament to timeless craftsmanship and spiritual devotion. Excellent for history seekers and Photo mania !!!

I’m from Hubballi and visited Shri Kamala Basadi inside Belagavi Fort on 15th October 2025 at around 4:00 PM (Yesterday). I rode all the way from Hubballi to Belagavi on my scooter.. my trusty mate, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful trips I’ve had recently. The ride itself was smooth and enjoyable, and reaching the fort felt like stepping back in time. The temple is truly a hidden gem. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by calm surroundings, cool stone floors, and intricate carvings that instantly capture your attention. The beautifully carved lotus ceiling inside the temple is breathtaking, it’s no surprise that so many visitors mention it in their reviews. As a history lover, I was amazed by how well-preserved and detailed the architecture still is. You can feel the devotion and skill of the ancient artisans in every carving and corner. Around 4 PM, the atmosphere was just perfect, quiet, not crowded at all, with a gentle breeze and the golden light of the evening sun making the stone glow beautifully. The area around the temple is clean and green, adding to the peaceful vibe. Just beside Kamala Basadi, there’s another small but elegant Jain temple called Shri Chikka Jaina Basadi. It’s simpler but equally serene and worth visiting while you’re here. Together, both temples reflect the depth of Jain heritage and the architectural brilliance of that era. Overall, it was a refreshing and meaningful visit, a mix of a pleasant ride, rich history, and inner calm. If you love exploring heritage sites or just want a quiet escape, Kamala Basadi is definitely worth a stop the next time you’re in Belagavi Fort. #belagaviheritage

I absolutely loved this place in Belagavi! It's beautifully surrounded by lush green trees, offering a serene and refreshing atmosphere, especially during the hot summer months—it truly feels like a hidden gem. The cool breeze and natural shade make it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The architecture of the temple is striking and definitely worth appreciating, with intricate designs that reflect a rich cultural heritage. The idol inside is very old and holds great spiritual significance, making the darshan experience deeply peaceful and fulfilling. A must-visit if you're in the area!

Such a magnificent temple with such a detailed carving I was absolutely stunned and speechless by the details and the beauty the symmetry I kept on looking around in circles. I couldn't resist from taking pictures even though the priest warned me not to click pictures. The Kamal Basadi has been built in the later Chalukya style. The temples main deity is lord Neminath.

The special feature of this place is that Swami Vivekananda stayed here for 8 days, moreover, there are many types of colorful flowering plants beside the ashram and they are well taken care of. 🌸💮 The ashram is very attractive from outside and inside. The atmosphere there is very calm and positive. Once inside, Gaelic doesn't seem to come out. Many people were sitting there chanting.💫💫 Inside the temple there is a lot of carvings and idols. I found the people there very peaceful. The guards there were also very nice and gave us proper information. It feels very cool because there is peace there. They have made a small museum of Swami Vivekananda on the left side of the ashram. They have given a lot of information there that what Swami Vivekananda preached while staying there is shown by Chitran.✨✨ There are many such places to visit in Belgaum.👍🏻👍🏻

Military Mahadeva Temple is One of the city's oldest temples, this Shiva shrine is managed by the Indian Army and was inaugurated in 1955. The temple is situated on Camp Road and is surrounded by a green, well-landscaped garden with a children's play area and has some benches to sit on. The central shrine houses an awe-inspiring black Shiva Lingam, guarded by five-hooded serpents, which captivates visitors with its mystical allure. Adjacent to the temple is a mini zoo that houses deer and emus, providing an additional attraction for families and nature enthusiasts. The temple complex includes statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and replicas of forts associated with him. The temple is open on all days from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. It has relaxing and peaceful settings makes the place worth a visit !!!

Kids will enjoy as there is a small zoo kinda attached to temple compound where one can spot few deers , swans, turtles. Overall it's a good place for people of all ages. There is parking space for 2 and 4 wheeler and it's absolutely free .

Best place to go for a relaxed walk, quality time with family, kids love it. This was the must go destination for me as a child. Loved watching deer, rabbits, peacocks, emu. The temple was a must visit place. Going to the Krishna fountain to spot tortoises was the next best activity. It was very hard to get a chance to sit on the swings. I always preferred the slide.

The temple is clean, well-maintained, and less crowded, making it perfect for slow exploration and quiet moments. A must-visit heritage spot near Kolhapur for anyone who loves history, art, and serene divine energy.

Visiting Kopeshwar Temple was an absolutely mesmerizing experience. The temple is not only an architectural marvel but also a living testimony of India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The intricate carvings, unique circular design, and the way the temple blends both Shaivite and Vaishnavite traditions left me truly awe-struck. Every pillar, every sculpture tells a story, making it feel like you’re walking through history. A very special mention to our guide, Aappa, whose knowledge and storytelling brought the temple to life. He explained the legends, historical significance, and hidden details in such a captivating way that it made the entire visit unforgettable. His passion and respect for the temple truly enhanced the experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend visiting this hidden gem, and if possible, take the tour with Aappa – he will make sure you don’t just see the temple, but truly experience its soul. 🙏

You cannot understand and enjoy this magnificent temple without a proper guide. Our guide Mr.Appu created that aura of the temple with his beautiful narration. Though it's a small temple..I would say one day is also very less to study n observe beauty of each pillars and stories of the each beautifully carved art. Only shocking observation is why Govt or Archeology society is not taking care and beautifying. These are just one of few left over beautiful art pieces by our ancestors , if we don't preserve this for our future generations..it will also go very soon. We need to give importance to glorify our History, keeping politics away. If you are in kolhapur , you must visit this temple, (it's 1 hr 45 minutes away from kolhapur.)( Driving through the sugarcane fields is another unforgettable moment)

Narsoba Chi Wadi Mandir

Mentioned on

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Narsoba Chi Wadi Mandir, also known as Shree Kshetra Narasimha Wadi, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Dattatreya. It is located in the Kolhapur district near the confluence of the Krishna and Panchganga rivers. The temple offers a peaceful atmosphere for meditation and reflection, with manageable crowds even on special occasions. Visitors can easily get darshan after a short wait in line.
Complete Spiritual & Travel Experience – Shri Narsobawadi Datt Mandir My recent visit to Shri Narsobawadi Datt Mandir in Kolhapur district was a deeply fulfilling experience — both spiritually and as a traveler. The presence of Shri Narasimha Saraswati Swami Maharaj can be truly felt here. The temple is peaceful and well-managed, and the afternoon Mahaprasad is served with love and devotion — a must-experience for every devotee. Throughout the day, various vidhis and pujas are continuously performed in and around the temple area — such as abhishek, pradakshina, datta mala jaap, and sankalp pujas — creating a strong spiritual atmosphere that makes you feel deeply connected and at peace. The cold, holy water of the Krishna river nearby offers calmness and purity. I also enjoyed the boat rides (boat vihar) which provide a beautiful view of the temple and riverbank — very relaxing especially during early morning or sunset. For families and travelers, the place is very convenient: There's a dedicated play area and stalls selling a variety of toys, which children enjoy. The area has many restaurants and hotels, offering everything from local snacks to full meals and stay options for all budgets. A big plus is the huge parking space that makes arriving and leaving easy, even on crowded days. Around the temple, there are many small shops and stalls selling souvenirs — like Devotional Books, photos and idols of Lord Dattatreya, prayer beads (malas), religious books, keychains, sweets like pedha,Basundi, Khawa, other prasad items and decorative items — perfect for taking home as memories or gifts. The area is well-developed with many restaurants and hotels offering everything from local Maharashtrian meals to basic lodging and even AC rooms for longer stays are easily available, and local food is tasty and budget-friendly. Whether you're a devotee seeking spiritual upliftment or a traveler looking for a serene and culturally rich destination, Shri Narsobawadi is a must-visit. It truly offers a complete experience of devotion, natural beauty, tradition, and comfort. Highly recommended for all age groups and especially for devotees of Lord Dattatreya.

Narsobachiwadi, also called Narsobavadi, is a famous holy place near Kolhapur in Maharashtra. It is located at the meeting point of two rivers – Krishna and Panchganga – which makes the place very special and peaceful. The main reason people visit here is the temple of Shri Narasimha Saraswati Swami, who is believed to be the second incarnation of Lord Dattatreya. It is said that Swamiji lived in Narsobavadi for 12 years, and his blessings still protect the land. The temple has the sacred padukas (footprints) of Shri Narasimha Saraswati. Devotees from all over India come to worship here and seek peace and guidance. Inside the temple, the sound of prayers and chants of “Digambara Digambara” creates a very spiritual and calm atmosphere. The river ghats nearby are also very beautiful, where people take a holy dip and spend time in meditation. Visiting Narsobavadi feels truly peaceful and divine. The soothing chants, holy river ghats, and sacred temple atmosphere create a sense of calmness. Surrounded by devotion and natural beauty, you feel blessed, stress-free, and connected to God, making it a perfect place for both faith and inner peace.

We traveled from Chikkodi to Narasobawadi and found it convenient using KSRTC buses. The journey took about an hour by public transport. We visited on a Thursday and were able to have darshan within 10–15 minutes, which was great. A delicious lunch was served at 12:30 PM

My recent visit to Shri Narsobawadi Datt Mandir in Kolhapur was an incredible experience! The temple's peaceful atmosphere and the presence of Shri Narasimha Saraswati Swami Maharaj were truly palpable. The Mahaprasad was served with love and devotion, and the various vidhis and pujas created a strong spiritual vibe. The temple's location on the Krishna riverbank added to the serenity, and the boat rides were a great way to relax and take in the views. This is the deity worshiped by not only Sanglikars, but also by devotees from all over Maharashtra. The temple that was built by Raje Patwardhan is based on "Panchayatan" system of deity placement. It's a place to find solace , calm , peace of mind and the God of wisdom, Ganpatibappa is also known as Wighnaharta, i.e., the one who destroys all your worries. Just go and find your solace.
Kaustubh K — Google review
Ganapati Temple is regarded as the most beautiful temple in south Maharashtra. It is situated on the banks of river Krishna at Sangli. Thorle (elder) Chintamanrao Patwardhan consecrated the idol in 1843. The temple has been artistically built with black stone brought from Jyotibha hills. There is a platform, a hall and a 'Nagarkhana' inside the vast two acres complex of the temple. The entrance door has been carved out of different coloured natural wood. The idol of the Lord Ganapati is made of copper. The idol has been kept in a way that it is visible from any part of Ganapati Peth. It looks so beautiful when the silvery rays of evening sun brighten the face of the Ganapati idol. Ganapati festival is celebrated with great religious fervour for five days from Bhadrapad Shuddha Chaturthi. Sangli is well connected by air, train and road. Dharamshalas and small budgeted hotels at Sangli are available for accommodation.

Actually first of all it is not a fort at all. Fort is just a misnomer for this and that's why I gave only 4 star . Yeah, there is a museum which is really mesmerising and just for 10 rs , you can stay there as long as u want. Behind that museum there is Darbaar Hall, which is a temple and also a great symbol of beautiful architecture . I personally loved the museum. There is a government office behind. The museum opens after 10:30am and ya, dont touch anything in the museum and you are also not allowed to click the pictures inside the museum and darbaar hall too.

We travelled from Kolhapur to Hyderabad and he stopped multiple times for loading lauggage (not the traveller lauggage but some shipping parcels) but when we asked him to stop at any hotel for washrooms he said 10 mins but after 2 hrs also he never stopped near any hotel. Finally when he stopped at some place for loading parcels we went to hotel for using restroom and the person who is incharge of the bus started behaving very rudely with us.

Ujalai Devi temple is situated close to Kolhapur and is one of the Navdurga temples in the area. Visitors must descend stairs to reach the temple, where they can experience a chilly climate. While there is a waterfall nearby, it is not suitable for bathing. The temple itself offers a serene natural environment, with small picturesque waterfalls in its vicinity. The location and scenery are beautiful, except for the fact that the waterfall receives dirty water from a drainage channel.

Have a lot of childhood memories related to this place but was really sad to it’s current condition with sewage water being mixed with the waterfall near the temple and some of the adjacent private construction which almost looks like encroaching the temple area. Despite of this all, the place have a different vibe and connect for me personally.

Nestled in the heart of Kolhapur, the Shri Ambabai Temple, also known as the Mahalaxmi Temple, is a stunning 12th-century Hindu shrine that captivates visitors with its intricate sculptures and rich history. Revered as one of the Shakti Peethas or Dakshin Kashi, this temple holds immense spiritual significance for devotees seeking liberation from desires or fulfillment of their wishes.
Beautiful and divine temple with rich history. The idol of Ambabai is mesmerizing and the atmosphere inside is very peaceful. Well-maintained and clean. Gets very crowded on weekends and festivals, so early morning darshan is best. Parking can be difficult near the temple. Overall, a must-visit spiritual place in Kolhapur.

-Get down at main entrance, we mistakenly had dropped down backside gate. -Senior citizens are allowed to sit in the entrance if any large queue was there. -Inside temple, womens are separately in queues to have Darshan as its Mahalaxmi Temple. -Drinking water facility available when you come out of Darshan. -Several shops available inside for shopping devotional items. -Peda Prasad nearby exit of Darshan is the cheap and best which was sold by local guys. -Also, Laddu Prasad sold by Temple committee. -Best part is free Bhojanalaya as like in Shirdi was available and taste was very good. (Variety Rice, sabhji, butter milk, sweet.) -Timing 12PM to 3PM -This is located in backside of temple which is of 50m distance from temple. -Free Tokens are given in main entrance and backside gate. -Volunteers/Members inside Bhojanalaya strictly instructs all devotees to not waste food. One should complete his/her food and allowed to get up for handwash. - Plates for children were asked there parents before giving in order avoid wastage of food. - But this Bhojanalaya is present in 1st floor, which is a very big minus point for those where not able to step up. - Footwears are to be kept outside Bhojanalaya.

Beautiful and very very old temple. Powerful vibes can be experienced. Crowded throughout the day. We had gone in the afternoon and early morning and both times the temple was crowded. We were blessed to have a security officer help us out of the blue as my mom couldnt stand and wait in the queue for long hours. Once inside you can feel the essence of an old temple and the idol is so so mesmerising! Truly blessed to have got a chance to visit the divine Mahalaxmi!

"The Mahalakshmi Ambabai Temple is one of the three and a half Shakti Peethas. 🛕 We reached the temple at 5:00 AM, and the early morning time, the pleasant atmosphere, and witnessing the goddess's worship and aarti made our hearts feel completely serene. 😊🌸 There is very little crowd at the temple in the morning, and this is when you get the good fortune of witnessing the goddess's worship and aarti. ☺️ Therefore, you should definitely visit the temple during the morning hours. 😊"

Shahu Palace is a beautiful heritage spot in Kolhapur that truly reflects royal elegance and history. The architecture is stunning, especially the clock tower and detailed carvings — a real treat for architecture lovers! The palace also has a small museum showcasing artifacts from the royal era. However, mobile phones and cameras are not allowed inside the inner section, so you can’t take pictures there — but it’s worth visiting for the experience and glimpse of history. The outside garden is peaceful, clean, and great for photography. There’s also a small area with deer and ducks nearby, which adds to the charm 🦌📜✨

A Hidden Gem of Maratha History & Architecture! Visited the New Palace (Shahu Museum) in Kolhapur and I was completely blown away! This stunning Indo-Saracenic palace, built in 1884, is an architectural masterpiece with its black polished stone, elegant clock tower, and beautiful manicured gardens. The moment you step in, you’re transported back to the royal era of the Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. The museum inside is brilliantly curated – from the exquisite durbar hall with its Belgian chandeliers and stained-glass windows to the impressive collection of royal costumes, weapons, jewellery, and Shahu Maharaj’s famous taxidermy animals (the wrestling tiger and hunting trophies are unforgettable!). You have to buy tickets Rs.20 for kids and Rs.40 for adults

A must-visit spiritual place! The temple is situated on a hill and offers a peaceful yet powerful vibe. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kolhapur. ⭐ Rating: 5/5

Beautiful Hilltop Temple - Must Visit for a Spiritual Experience! 🙏 This is a magnificent temple located on a beautiful hilltop ⛰️. It's the family deity (Kuldaivat) for many people, so you'll feel a very special, spiritual atmosphere. The temple itself is spacious and beautifully carved in stone 🗿. You can get the darshan of both Jyotiba and a Jyotirlinga here. Practical Tips: * Be prepared for crowds 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦! It gets very busy on weekends, holidays, and especially during the temple fair (Yatra). * The wait time for darshan is generally 30 to 45 minutes. * Parking can be tight on peak days 🅿️. * Good to note: The temple is wheelchair accessible ♿. * The unique part is the tradition of showering Gulaal (red powder) and Khobara (dry coconut) during your visit 🔴🥥. Small shops are available nearby. Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable visit! Highly recommended. 👍

Jyotiba Temple is a very famous and holy place near Kolhapur, about 17 km away. The temple is on a beautiful hill, around 3,100 feet high, and gives amazing views of the mountains and nature around it. The temple is dedicated to Lord Jyotiba, who is believed to be a form of Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. He is also known as Dakkhancha Raja, the king of the South, and the brother of Goddess Mahalakshmi. The temple is made of stone and has a very peaceful and powerful feeling. One special thing here is the pink “Gulal” powder that people throw in the air — it turns the whole hill pink! During the Chaitra Purnima festival, thousands of people come here, and the temple becomes full of energy, music, and devotion. It’s peaceful on weekdays but very crowded on weekends and festivals. Darshan usually takes 30–45 minutes. Parking is available, but it can be tight on busy days. Many shops sell gulal, prasad, and coconuts nearby. The temple is wheelchair accessible and easy to reach by road.
Nishad S — Google review
acred and powerful temple dedicated to Lord Jyotiba. The location on the hilltop is very scenic, giving a peaceful spiritual atmosphere. The temple has great historical and religious significance, and many devotees visit throughout the year. It gets very crowded during fairs and festivals (especially Chaitra Yatra), so visiting early morning is more comfortable. Roads are a little congested and parking can be difficult, but the darshan experience is divine and worth it. A must-visit place near Kolhapur.
Bharati G — Google review
Frequent buses are available from Kolhapur, making travel convenient. We visited on a Friday and had darshan within just 10 minutes. The whole experience was smooth and peaceful.
Pallavi G — Google review
Beautiful hill temple with strong spiritual vibes and scenic views. Peaceful on weekdays, very crowded during festivals. Architecture and pink gulal make it unique. Parking and cleanliness can improve, but overall a divine and memorable experience.
Aniket B — Google review
Deity Jyotiba is an avatar of Lord Shiva. This temple was built in the year 1973. Jyotiba was born from the combined energies of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh to defeat the demon Ratnasur and He is also considered the brother of Kolhapur's Goddess Mahalaxmi. Locals say that the visit of Mahalaxmi Temple is followed by Jyotiba Temple, and both deities are protectors in the region. This is also called Pink Temple" because devotees scatter pink colored powder as an offering, causing the entire temple and surrounding area to turn pink.

On a family trip to Malvan, Sindhudurg, we made a stop at the Rautwadi Waterfall in Olavan of Radhanagari taluka. Just 8 km from Radhanagari, this easily accessible waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a stunning natural setting. Standing at around 100 ft tall, it features a beautiful walkway leading to the summit.
Rautwadi Waterfall, nestled near the village of Rautwadi in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, is a hidden gem that offers a refreshing escape into nature. Surrounded by dense forests and lush greenery, the waterfall is at its most majestic during the monsoon season when the water cascades down from the cliffs in full force, creating a breathtaking sight and a soothing sound that fills the air. The trek to the waterfall is moderately easy, making it accessible even for beginners and families. The route itself is scenic, passing through paddy fields, forested trails, and small streams. For nature enthusiasts and photography lovers, the surroundings provide ample opportunities to capture the unspoiled beauty of the Western Ghats. One of the best parts about Rautwadi Waterfall is its relatively low crowd density compared to more commercialized spots. This makes it an ideal destination for those seeking peace and solitude. Visitors often enjoy bathing under the waterfall or simply relaxing by the rocks, immersed in the calm atmosphere. Basic amenities near the site are limited, so it is advisable to carry essentials like water, snacks, and first-aid. Local villagers are friendly and sometimes offer homemade refreshments. There are no formal entry fees, which adds to its appeal for budget travelers. While Rautwadi may not yet be widely known, it is certainly worth a visit for anyone exploring the natural beauty of Maharashtra. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple looking for a quiet retreat, or a group of friends seeking adventure, this waterfall promises a memorable experience. However, as with any natural site, responsible tourism is key—leave no litter, respect the environment, and enjoy the serenity that Rautwadi offers. In short, Rautwadi Waterfall is a pristine, peaceful, and picturesque destination that leaves a lasting impression.

A fantastic experience, huge waterfall, heavy rain, place is surrounded with mountains and lush greenery every where. Rs 50/ - need to pay to Padali grampanchayat. Ensure you carry enough snacks or food with you, snacks available are bit costly. Also parking facility is along the road side, better to visit before 1-2 PM so to avoid heavy rush during season, as usual sharing some photos.. Enjoy...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rautwadi Waterfall is amazing! It’s a beautiful spot near Radhanagari Dam, with water falling from high up, surrounded by green trees. The short walk to the falls is easy, and the path is nice and clean. Standing near the waterfall feels so refreshing, with cool mist and loud water sounds—perfect for relaxing or taking photos. The hot sweet corn from nearby stalls is so tasty, with just the right spices. It’s the best snack to enjoy while looking at the falls. The Radhanagari Dam with its seven gates is close by, and the calm water and hills are super pretty. The place feels safe, with friendly people and basic facilities like bathrooms. It’s not too crowded, especialy early in the day, which makes it peaceful. If you want a fun day out with nature, yummy corn, and a cool dam nearby, Rautwadi Waterfall is perfect.
Pramod M — Google review
Rautwadi Waterfall is quite beautiful, but my experience was somewhat mixed. The access roads can be quite congested, and once there, the area feels a bit restricted, limiting the room to spread out and truly enjoy the surroundings, especially with a larger crowd. I found that it's much more enjoyable with a limited number of people, and definitely recommend visiting on a weekday rather than a weekend to avoid the rush. Having explored other options, I personally believe that Nitawade Waterfall is a superior choice compared to Rautwadi waterfalls for a more spacious and relaxed experience. If you're looking for the best waterfall experience in the area, consider Nitawade first.
VINAYAK S — Google review

It was a very nice weekend experience at Rautwadi Waterfall, it is from 51-54 km's from Kolhapur, so I went on a scooter. There is 10 rs entry charge, but there is a major issue of parking that's why the road got a jam meanwhile. For tourists, this waterfall is a very good attractive point, you will get tea, Maggie stall near. It was a very nice and good experience watching the high flow of waterfall and experiencing it 🙂
Kedar G — Google review

Nestled in the scenic hills of Panhala, just a short drive from Kolhapur, Sajja Kothi stands as a testament to Maratha history and architectural beauty. This historic structure is renowned for its intricate carvings and stunning domes, making it an essential stop for anyone interested in the region's rich past. It was here that Sambhaji Raja was held during his 'saja' by Shivaji Maharaj, adding layers of significance to this landmark.
Sajja Kothi is among the places where Shivaji Maharaj used to hold his meetings during wars. A dense forest reserved for bisons. This place opens at 6 am in the morning. The best time to start the safari is 6 am to 10 am as animals come to drink water so we can see them easily. There are shekarus in the forest which is state animal of maharashtra. We went in may still there were lush green trees. We took a jeep for 10 people which costed us ₹2000 and each persons ticket was ₹ 50 Must visit once. This forest is well resereved. There are towers on the main site points which are good photogenic and view from there is amazing. The guids are nice. they try their best so that we can see the animals. Even if we dont see any animal the road journey in the jungle is worth it. It is a 4 to 5 hrs journy so bring your own water bottle, caps, goggles, some snacks etc.

It is a very peaceful place to visit especially in the monsoon. Calmness at this place can be felt very well. Also its views on the way are wonderful. Covered with mountain ranges and clouds trying to escape from in between.

Beautiful Place and relaxing. Road connectivity is good. Maharaj Cave is really best place for worship. Staff is so helpful. Photo's are not allowed in some corners but it's acceptable. If you want to visit with government transport then you have to walk for 3 km from Bu stop. Temple complex full with artworks. You can even take a room here to spend night if you're getting late.

It is a very beautiful, peaceful, and unforgettable place. It is the ashram of Shri Chaitanya Gagangiri Maharaj❤️. It is not a tourist spot but a sacred place, and everyone should be mindful of this while visiting and taking darshan.

Unbelievable experience, This place is situated at top where one need to take atleast 150 stairs, surrounded with clouds, heavy rain and electrifying atmosphere. Parking is available, but few cars can be parked, Prasad is available on daily basis for devotees, lord mahadev, vitthal madir is also available, darga is available at the top. Extremely windy, and classic view.

We visited here on Saturday. It was a little crowded because of the weekend. Worth the visit, very pleasant atmosphere. They serve prasad ( dal, rice and sweet) after Pooja and aarti in the afternoon. There are many things to visit like Gagangiri Maharaj Math, Dhuni mandir, Mahadev mandir. Kanif nath samadhi. Keep enough time in hand to visit all places as they are not close to each other.
