The World Peace Pagoda in Lumbini is a magnificent symbol of peace and unity, built by Japanese Buddhists at a cost of $1 million. This impressive white stupa stands 48 meters high and features golden statues of Buddha in various poses. Adjacent to the Lumbini Crane Sanctuary, it offers stunning views across the wetlands. The pagoda's tranquil ambiance, surrounded by lush gardens and scenic ponds, makes it an ideal place for meditation and reflection.
Located in the northern side of Lumbini complex, the stupa was built by Japanese Buddhists symbolizing peace and harmony. It has a vibrant golden Buddha statue and there are stairs to climb to different levels to take a complete circle of the stupa and observe the surrounding.
Sandeep — Google review
At the top end of the Lumbini Sanskriti complex, this stupa shines in dazzling white, a contribution from Japanese Buddhists. After removing your shoes, you can walk around the stupa. We went on a blazingly hot day and there is no cover - take water and an umbrella. I would have hoped for more information and explanation to understand the context, that's the missing star.

🌸 World Peace Pagoda, Lumbini 🌸 The World Peace Pagoda in Lumbini stands as a shining symbol of harmony, love, and unity. Built with the dream of spreading peace across the globe, it inspires every visitor with its serene beauty and spiritual presence. Surrounded by calm gardens and the sacred birthplace of Lord Buddha, the pagoda invites people from all walks of life to pause, reflect, and embrace the message of non-violence and compassion. It is not only an architectural wonder, but also a reminder that true peace begins within ourselves and flows into the world when we live with kindness and understanding. Visiting the World Peace Pagoda is like touching the heart of peace itself. ✨🕊️

What a lovely place to admire and visit in order to meditate or reflect on what matters for you! It is one od the most important World Peace Pagodas built worldwide. Its location at Lumbini, Buddha's birthplace, makes this monument unique.
Stamatios T — Google review
The Lumbini Peace Pagoda is at the opposite end of the complex from Buddha’s birthplace. It’s constructed by a Japanese mission to create 108 similar peace pagodas. I think there are 84 or 88 already built. There’s another one in Pokhara. The grounds are peaceful and there’s a beautiful lotus pond. A gardener asked if I wanted some flower seeds, so I was all about it. Marigolds, poppies, and another red flower. Try to grow flowers from the Peace Pagoda? Yes, please.

Pokhara Shanti Stupa is a Buddhist monument on Anadu Hill. Shanti Stupa shrine was built as a symbol of peace. Situated at the height of 1100 meters on the Anadu Hill. Nepal has two of the eighty peace pagodas in the world: Shanti Stupa in Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha and Shanti Stupa in Pokhara. Shanti Stupa in Pokhara has also become a tourist attraction. It provides a panoramic view of the Annapurna range, Pokhara city and Fewa Lake.

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Lumbini, Nepal, Dae Sung Shakya-Korean Gumba offers a tranquil escape from the bustling energy of nearby monasteries. This traditional Korean temple stands out for its authenticity and vintage charm, reminiscent of the temples found in Korea. Despite being located just across from the lively Chinese Monastery, Dae Sung Shakya provides a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection and relaxation.
Multistorey building with Korean Architecture. The building remains cool inside even in summer. There are many trees planted outside which makes it a cool place. Please click the helpful button if the review was helpful.

Dae Sung Shakya Korean Gumba is a really peaceful spot, especially compared to the busier Chinese monastery across the way. The building itself has a bit of a vintage feel, which I kind of liked. Overall, it was a great place to relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Bibhushan S — Google review
A traditional Korean monastery located in the west zone of Lumbini. It is less crowded and quiet as compared to other religious and historical landmarks of Lumbini.
Sandeep — Google review
This was one of the quieter "national monasteries" in Lumbini, which was surprising because it was right across the road from the Chinese Monastery, which, perhaps unsurprisingly, was far and away the loudest and busiest of them all. I didn't see any monks here and the buildings looked practically deserted. But it made for a nice, quiet visit. The buildings themselves certainly reminded me of many temples I saw when I lived in Korea so kudos to the builders for authenticity. Definitely recommend visiting.
Gunnar C — Google review
This gompa is beautiful with such a quiet and peaceful ambience inside, but I feel disappointed at how it is still incomplete. On my previous visit, no one was allowed to go inside and the gate was closed but this time, the gate was open and people were allowed to head in.
Rahul R — Google review
Possible to stay for 3 nights (or in exceptional cases longer) for 500rs/night including 3 meals a day. However the area is monastic and forbids singing/dancing/instruments/cards etc. 4-bed dorms with equipped mosquito nets and gender separated. Unfortunately the workers do not seem to respect the rules as they shout loudly across the complex although telling you off for playing instruments inside the dorm. Also they enter the dorms (males in female dorms and females in male dorms) without knocking and walked in while I was sleeping and started talking. Sheets are not washed regularly but decently clean. The Buddhist ceremony every morning and night is beautiful and worth staying there for. Food is good and price is great.

In Lumbini, Nepal—the birthplace of Lord Buddha—many countries have built monasteries inside the Lumbini Monastic Zone. Among them, South Korea has also established its own monastery. The Korean Monastery in Lumbini is officially called: Dae Sung Shakya Sa Korean Monastery

The Maya Devi Temple in Lumbini is an ancient Buddhist shrine and archaeological site that holds great spiritual significance. It marks the exact spot where Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Prince Siddhartha, who later became Buddha. The temple enshrines this sacred location, with a marker stone encased in glass and a sandstone carving depicting the birth of Buddha.
Mayadevi Temple is a sacred religious and historical place which is the main attraction of Lumbini. Emperor Ashoka of India erected a Pillar in 249 BC in which the Brahmi Script writing on analysis confirmed that Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini. Later in 19th century Khadga Samsher Rana and Anton Fuhrer, a German archeologist, further excavated the ruins of temple and the town that was dated back to 3rd century BC. Inside the temple there is a footstep of Gautam Buddha and marker stone confirming the site of birth of Buddha. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple. A pond is located beside the temple formed from two naturally occurring well (इनार) where it is believed that Mayadevi took bath after giving birth to Siddhartha Gautam. Ticket is mandatory for visit to all Nepali and Foreign nationals except if you are native resident of Rupandehi district. It is quite busy on weekend and during Buddha Jayanti. Avoid visiting Lumbini on summer as the heat is unbearable.

Shri Gorakhnath Mandir

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sprawling monastery & temple complex with galleries of Hindu deity statues & a sacred eternal flame.
When we reached Gorakhpur for our UP Police exam, one of the most memorable experiences we had was visiting the Gorakhnath Mandir. Located in the heart of the city, this grand temple is not just a place of worship, but a spiritual and cultural landmark that leaves a lasting impression on every visitor. As soon as we entered the temple premises, we were welcomed by a peaceful and divine atmosphere. The temple is dedicated to Guru Gorakhnath, a revered saint and spiritual leader, and it stands as a symbol of devotion, discipline, and tradition. The architecture is stunning, with beautifully carved pillars, a clean and spacious courtyard, and the main sanctum that radiates positive energy. The sound of bhajans and chants added to the spiritual charm of the place. What touched us the most was the discipline and cleanliness maintained throughout the temple complex. Devotees from all parts of India visit this temple to seek blessings, and yet, the atmosphere remains calm and well-managed. We also saw people feeding cows in the gaushala and participating in community services, which reflected the temple's role in promoting social values. Our visit to Gorakhnath Mandir was not just a religious stop, but a moment of peace and reflection before our exam. It gave us a sense of calmness and motivation. We felt truly blessed to be there, and we would recommend everyone visiting Gorakhpur to take some time and experience the spiritual strength of this sacred place.
Shivansh R — Google review
My visit to the Gorakhnath Temple was truly a highlight of my trip to Gorakhpur. I went on a weekday morning to avoid the crowds, and the peaceful atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for. The temple complex is expansive and immaculately maintained. The grounds are very clean, and there are clear signs, making it easy to navigate. The main temple, dedicated to Guru Gorakhnath, is impressive with its beautiful architecture. Inside, the spiritual energy is palpable. I also appreciated the smaller shrines dedicated to other deities, which are scattered throughout the complex. The large pond and well-kept garden areas provide a perfect place for quiet reflection. One of the most charming aspects was the Goshala (cowshed), which is very well-maintained and shows the temple's dedication to serving and protecting cows. The arrangements for depositing and collecting footwear were smooth and efficient, which is a big plus. For future visitors, I would highly recommend an early morning visit to enjoy the tranquility. While some reviews mention being approached by pandits for money, I didn't experience this and found the staff to be respectful. Overall, this is a must-visit place for anyone seeking a blend of spirituality, history, and serene beauty. It's a truly well-managed and significant pilgrimage site.

I liked the big statue and the spiritual feel. It was a nice and refreshing experience. A must-visit place in Gorakhpur.

Gorakhnath Math, also known as Gorakhnath Temple or Shri Gorakhnath Mandir, is a Hindu temple of the Nath monastic order group of the Nath tradition. The name Gorakhnath derives from the medieval saint, Gorakshanath (c. 11th century CE), a yogi who travelled widely across India and authored a number of texts that form a part of the canon of Nath Sampradaya.Shri Gorakhnath Mandir's facade stands as a beacon of spiritual enlightenment. The temple's facade reflects Gorakhpur's rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Gorakhnath Mandir is a spiritually powerful and peaceful place. The atmosphere is calm and filled with positive vibes. The temple is very well maintained – clean premises, organized management, and a spacious campus. Apart from the main temple, the gaushala and sacred pond add to its charm. Sitting here brings a deep sense of inner peace. A must-visit spot in Gorakhpur for both devotees and tourists!

I visited here with my friends during the evening time, and the view was so mesmerizing that noone could resist seeing and falling in faith. There's no need to buy a ticket to enter the temple. Tha temple is clean and beautifully managed.

Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur is a peaceful and spiritual place that fills you with positive energy the moment you enter. The surroundings are clean, well-maintained, and calm. The temple itself is beautiful, with detailed walls and peaceful vibes. Inside, there are many different gods, and each one feels special in its own way. One of the best things is that the temple is very well-organized. There’s proper security at the entrance, but it’s just a simple check—nothing that takes much time. You don’t have to wait in long lines to go inside, which is a big plus. Behind the temple, there’s a small pond where ducks swim around. It’s a lovely spot to sit quietly and enjoy the peaceful environment. The cool breeze and soft sound of bells make you feel relaxed and connected to something higher. Near the temple, you’ll find many small shops selling sweets and prasad. There are plenty of options, and the shopkeepers are polite and helpful. If you love sweets or want to carry some prasad for your family, it’s the perfect place. Also, there’s a strong sense of safety here. Security guards are present everywhere, and the overall atmosphere is very family-friendly. If you are ever in Gorakhpur, I would strongly recommend visiting Gorakhnath Temple. It’s not just a religious place, it’s a complete experience of peace, devotion, and beauty. Don’t leave the city without spending some time here. It truly touches your heart.

Vishnu Mandir

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Down-to-earth Hindu temple featuring a veranda & a black-stone statue of Lord Vishnu.
The Lord Vishnu temple in Gorakhpur is a historic and religiously significant site. The temple is located just two kilometers from Gorakhpur Railway Station and holds importance throughout the eastern region. The Lord Vishnu idol installed in the temple is made of black stone and dates back to the Pala Empire (8th century). The idol was first discovered in 1914 by a local mason named Gorakh. The specialty of this idol is that it is a Chaturbhuj idol, a rare and significant representation of Lord Vishnu. The historic and religious significance of this idol is widespread in Gorakhpur and the eastern region. This temple and idol are an essential part of Gorakhpur's rich cultural and historical heritage and serve as a significant attraction for tourists and devotees. The story of the Lord Vishnu idol is quite fascinating. One day, a mason decided to take a stone home. When he turned the stone over, he discovered the idol of Lord Vishnu. The mason informed the then Honorary Magistrate and Zamindar, Rai Bahadur Abhinandan Prasad, who had the idol brought to his residence, Nandan Bhavan. However, the idol did not stay there for long. When the then British Collector, Sillett, came to know about it, he had the idol removed from Nandan Bhavan and kept in the district's Malakhana (treasury). Later, it was sent to the Lucknow Museum. Today, the idol is still housed in the Lucknow Museum and is an important pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Vishnu. Here is the translation: Every year, the Vishnu Mahayagya is organized here, in which the people of the city participate enthusiastically. This event is held in the premises of the Vishnu temple, which is taken care of by the Shri Vishnu Bhagwan Committee. According to Rishabh Jain, secretary of the Shri Vishnu Bhagwan Committee, this event is held every year in the premises of the Vishnu temple, in which people from the city as well as from surrounding areas participate. In this event, along with the Vishnu Mahayagya, a grand Ramleela is also organized, which has been a tradition since 1972.

A peaceful little gem in Gorakhpur, quietly beautiful temple with a striking ancient idol and a calming atmosphere. The temple has an interesting local legend, the idol was discovered by a mason who found what he thought was a stone and later realized it was a divine figure. The architecture and the chaturbhuj form of Vishnu feel historic, and visitors often comment on the peaceful vibe. Open in the mornings and evenings (check local timings before you go). A short, meaningful stop if you’re in Gorakhpur, great for darshan, photos, and a little local history.
Divyam S — Google review
It is an ancient temple of Lord Vishnu painted in white colour and located near Asuran chowk, just in the side of Medical road. The architecture of the temple is square-shaped with strong thick pillars at the four corners and each corner/side has small sanctums dedicated to the deities Jaganathpuri, Badrinath, Rameshwaram and Dwarika. The main attraction of the temple is black stone statue of Lord Vishnu. It remains open all days of the week from 6 am-12 noon and then from 3 pm to 8pm. The surrounding has good greenery but without maintenance. There is rectangular Parikrama-path around this temple. Also there is open discourse theatre in left. On right side are many Vedis where Yagna are performed. Temple is decorated mainly at Dussehara time/ Janmashtmi. It is under restoration phase and there is no proper maintenance. It can be developed as a good holy sacred place. See pics for more clarity.. There is a hotel named Yaduvanshi sweets in the road 30 m away from where sweets and chaats etc can be taken from the outside.

This temple is the oldest temple of Lord Vishnu at Gorakhpur . Constructed in the 12th century of Pal dynasty period ,it is a heritage monument of India. The building is located in the Asuran Chauk area of Gorakhpur.about 2 Kms from the Railway station.White in color ,sitting at a height with many swirling pinnacles at the top. Main sanctum is of Lord Vishnu with beautiful black color idol. There four other small sanctum devoted to Char-Dham at each four corners.they are of Badrinath, Dwarika ,Ramehswaram and of Jagannath Puri. Overall a serene and religious atmosphere is here. Thursdays is the main day of prayer and relatively crowded. Satish Tripathi Gorakhpur.

Nehru park is the biggest park in gorakhpur. It had a big playground, 0.7km long walking track and greenery. In this park a memorial of freedom fighter pandit ramprasad bismil. In this park a mini open Jim .

Excellent place for daily walk, security guard at main gate with adequate parking space. Refreshments tea stalls nearby the park entry gate. Park has kids play area, excercise zone and jogging track. Fountains are not operational from quite sometime though and park needs some maintenance work, probably it would be taken care of post pandemic.
Tabish A — Google review
It's under construction, we had to make request to the guards to open it as it's only open till 11 on Sunday..ponds were dry, no equipment for children to play, no proper shaded place to sit and chat, reaching there was a mammoth task, it took 1 hr to reach there from betiahata as we got stuck in sahebganj.. I will not recommend this park to anyone who have less time to visit any park. Might be a good option for the local people.

Went there for a haircut. Overall experience was great but the price for a short haircut has increased from 300rs to 500rs..Trimming of long hair is 300rs still. And other treatments on hair has also increased. But the hairstylist was friendly and staff too. So yeah. All in all 4 out 5. Just cutting off a point for the pricey haircut. But theyalso told me about prices beforehand

Rail Museum

Rail museum
Museums
Specialty Museums
Vintage locomotives & displays on the history of regional railways, plus mini-train rides for kids.
Visited on 21 March 2025. For gorakhpur standards , good place for kids. A huge park, with a toy train for kids to ride on. Its fun and kids love it. There is huge space and garden, with slides and rides. There is a museum inside for those would be interested in history, i liked it. There is a restuarant inside it, with variety of food to chose from like momos, dosa, Ice cream, Pao Bhaji , cold drinks. Entry tickets - 20 rupees per person, 10 rupees per kid for train ride. Mosquitoes could be a menace after dark, be cautious.
Aanchal T — Google review
There were some toy shops outside the museum. The entry ticket for the museum was 20 rupees, and since there wasn’t much crowd, I got it immediately. Inside, there was a lot of greenery with many trees, and the names of the trees were also written. There was a rail tour happening as well, and the canteen was set up inside train coaches. There was also an old train engine and many other things. The museum had a lot of information and items related to railways. The food and drink facilities inside were very good, and the toilets were also fine. Opening Hours General Timings (Apr–Sep): Tuesday to Sunday, 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM (ticket booking until 8:30 PM); closed on Mondays . Winter Timings (Oct–Mar): Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM; closed on Mondays . Some sources also list a slightly earlier opening (e.g., 11:00 AM as per TripNight), but official seasonal timing updates are more reliable . Entry Fees Museum Entry: ₹20 for adults (above 5 years) . Toy Train Ride: ₹10 per person (often for children up to around 12 years or 2.5+ years, depending on policy) . Parking: Bike — ₹10; Car — ₹30 (per some travel guides) . Visitor Experience & Reviews Highly Rated: Enjoys positive ratings (~4.1 out of 5), especially among families and children . Highlights: Unique blend of education and recreation, with historical exhibits and a toy train ride. The themed canteen inside a coach adds a retro charm and enhances the dining experience. As one reviewer puts it, the mini train ride with classic tunes “makes you feel like a time traveler.” Playful park setting, classical music, and thoughtful lighting create a nostalgic yet vibrant atmosphere . Considerations: Limited parking onsite—visitors may need to find alternatives elsewhere . Some visitors observe that the place feels more like a mini theme park than a conventional museum due to its limited indoor exhibits but strong recreational appeal .
Ayush V — Google review
Best place to visit for family and especially children timing is 2 to 9 Approximately 30/- per adult person 20 bucks for entry 10 bucks for rail toy train ride l. With this you can access rail museum and resturants is also available for quick refreshment great taste but adherence to 9 pm exit is very strict. Highly recommendable for children below 12 years of age and rail enthusiast. Closed on monday.

Observatories & Planetariums
This planetarium, also known as Nakshatra Shala, is located in Taramandal, Gorakhpur. I believe it’s a fantastic spot for learning and exploring the wonders of space. The videos presented by Vratino Technologies are detailed and well-explained. The show lasts around 25 minutes without any interval. Visually, it's amazing once your eyes adjust to the lighting. However, since I watched the show in Hindi, it was a bit challenging to understand some of the terms. Still, the show was very educational. The seating is comfortable and can accommodate around 100-150 people at once. A humble request to visitors: please avoid bringing babies, as their crying can disturb others. - Ticket Price: ₹25/person - Timing: See the picture (2024 updated) - Language: Hindi for most shows, but check with the ticket counter for options.

The people working on the property are very rude, they were not helpful also there was no signage that we cannot take photos still some random person came took my phone and deleted a few pictures that i took of the place from the road. On further investigation with locals, got the information that the place has been closed for a while due to some construction and it will further be closed for a year more for everything to commence and place to start again. Dont visit this place its a waste of time rather visit other places for a good happy time.

The dome offers a unique space for astronomical projections, and even though only a portion of it is currently being utilized, it still provides an immersive experience. The documentary shown is concise, around 20 minutes long, making it a quick introduction to space science. With a few enhancements in content depth and visual quality, it has great potential to become highly engaging. The documentary is presented entirely in Hindi, which supports language inclusivity and promotes regional understanding—though incorporating a mix of Hindi and English scientific terms in future versions could make it even more accessible to a wider audience. The facility also features an astronomical exhibition filled with a variety of electronic displays. While some devices are currently non-functional, they show promise and could greatly enrich the learning experience once restored. With a little more maintenance and active involvement, this place has immense potential to become a vibrant center that ignites curiosity about astronomy in young minds. It's a valuable space with all the right ingredients to inspire future explorers of the cosmos.

Bhairo Baba Mandir is a temple known for peace and popularity. Nobody knows the date when the temple came into existence. It is linked with mythological period as people say that King Daksh had performed his famous Yajna here. The new temple is very high which was constructed by Brahmchari ji in year 1971. But the address given in google map is totally wrong. It's not in Pakri kalan, Paharpur Azamgarh. It is located at Mahrajganj Bazaar which at a distance of around 25 km from Azamgarh city. People have great faith and obeisance in Bhairo ji. There are number of temples besides main Bhairo ji temple. The big pond close to the temple is very sacred.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5/5) A Peaceful and Spiritually Enriching Experience 🙏 Visiting the Mahaparinirvana Temple in Kushinagar was a truly serene and soul-touching experience. This is the sacred place where Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana (final salvation), making it one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. The temple houses a beautiful reclining statue of Lord Buddha, symbolizing his final moments. The surroundings are calm, clean, and filled with spiritual energy. There are also several ancient ruins and stupas nearby, giving a glimpse into the grandeur of Buddhist architecture during the Gupta period. The partially excavated structures and broken sculptures around the temple complex add to the historic charm of the place. It’s fascinating to see how these remains have stood the test of time and still carry such powerful energy. There are also helpful signboards and information plaques for visitors. Perfect place for meditation, history lovers, and anyone looking for peace of mind. Highly recommended for those visiting eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The Thai Temple in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, is a significant symbol of the cultural and religious ties between Thailand and India, particularly in the context of Buddhism. The temple, also known as Wat Thai Temple, was constructed to honor the place where Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana (final liberation). It serves as a center of spiritual devotion and cultural exchange for both Thai Buddhists and international pilgrims. History of the Thai Temple: Built by the Thai Government: The temple was established in the late 20th century with the support of the Thai government and Buddhist monks from Thailand. It was built to commemorate the deep-rooted Buddhist traditions that link the two nations. Architectural Design: The temple showcases classic Thai architectural style with curved roofs, ornate carvings, and golden decorations. The unique Thai Buddhist elements, like stupas and pagodas, make it a stand-out structure in Kushinagar, drawing attention for its serene and beautiful design. Monastery: There is also a Thai monastery on the temple grounds, which is home to resident Buddhist monks who perform regular prayers and rituals. The monastery serves as a place of meditation and reflection for visitors. Importance of the Thai Temple: 1. Cultural and Religious Significance: The temple symbolizes the shared Buddhist heritage between Thailand and India. It is an important pilgrimage site for Thai Buddhists and serves as a spiritual hub for Buddhists worldwide. 2. Buddhist Pilgrimage Circuit: Kushinagar is one of the four major pilgrimage sites related to Lord Buddha's life (the others being Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, and Sarnath). The Thai Temple contributes to the importance of Kushinagar in the global Buddhist pilgrimage circuit. 3. Promotes Meditation and Peace: The temple and its surroundings offer a peaceful atmosphere conducive to meditation and spiritual practice. It plays a significant role in spreading the teachings of Lord Buddha and promoting peace and harmony. 4. Cultural Exchange: The temple also fosters cultural and religious exchange between India and Thailand, with frequent visits from Thai dignitaries, monks, and pilgrims. The Thai Temple in Kushinagar remains an essential site for those exploring the legacy of Buddhism, offering a serene space for prayer, reflection, and cultural appreciation.

The most beautiful temple in Kushinagar... it is really a royal palace! The temple has a amazing Buddha Statue! Very well carried!!! Inside there is a stupa, but it is only for Thailand people or VIP... luckily I got the chance to see... there is bullet prof chamber inside with “Buddha Relics” and the hair of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. I was wondering... here is the place of Buddha last breath... the cremation was here... they divided Buddha’s relics here... but still... I didn’t see any of his relics... so there is one here at this temple!!!! It was a very rare chance, as I am been coming here for some years...

Sher Shah Suri Tomb

Imposing Afghan style domed, brick tomb of a 16th century Mughal ruler.
A Grand Monument of History and Architecture! Visited on: 27 June 2025 This place left me awestruck! The tomb of Sher Shah Suri in Sasaram is not just a historical monument — it’s a masterpiece of Indo-Islamic architecture. Surrounded by a serene water tank and accessible via a beautiful stone bridge, the structure stands proudly with its grand domes and intricate carvings. The atmosphere inside is calm and reflective, with multiple smaller tombs and well-preserved interiors. The craftsmanship and symmetry are stunning. You can feel the historical weight and the glory of the era just by walking through the corridors. It’s clean, well-maintained, and perfect for anyone who loves history, architecture, or photography. I highly recommend visiting during late afternoon for soft lighting and a peaceful vibe. Tip: Don’t miss the view from across the water — it’s absolutely postcard-worthy!

One of the beautiful historical places in Bihar. The tomb is built in the middle of a water body (lake) and it looks amazing. The architecture is indo-Islamic and is really impressive in a quite peaceful location. It is being maintained by ASI and so it was clean and well maintained.

The tomb stands majestically in the middle of an artificial lake, giving it a striking island-like appearance. It is built primarily of red sandstone and features stunning domes, arches, and intricate carvings. The central dome rises to a height of about 122 feet, showcasing a brilliant blend of Afghan and Persian architectural styles. Its octagonal structure symbolizes balance and harmony, and the stone causeway leading to the tomb adds a dramatic and serene touch. The Sher Shah Suri Tomb is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or offbeat travel destinations. It may not receive as much attention as some other monuments in India, but it is undoubtedly one of the most awe-inspiring and culturally significant structures in the country. Best place to visit if you are in Sasaram. It's only 40 minutes journey from Sasaram station though road condition is not good. From Car parking near Manjhpr kund it's a 5 minutes walk towards view point.During heavy rain, forest guards closed the roads sometimes for safety reasons. This waterfall must be visited during rainy season to see the vastness.

If you're looking for an offbeat and exotic getaway in Bihar, Dhua Kund is the perfect destination. Tucked away in nature, this place offers an amazing blend of serenity, adventure, and fun. It's an ideal spot for picnics, outdoor parties, or just to chill out with friends. What makes Dhua Kund special is its beautiful waterfall, where you can actually take a refreshing dip. The experience of bathing under the waterfall is nothing short of magical. The natural surroundings add to the charm. Getting to Dhua Kund is an adventure in itself – you’ll need to offload and trek a bit, which adds to the thrill and makes the journey even more memorable. But this place is likely to be good only in rainy seasons .

Abhishek V — Google review
The Deo Surya Mandir in Aurangabad, Bihar is a fascinating place for several reasons: Solar Shrine: Unlike most Sun temples facing east, Deo Surya Mandir faces west, towards the setting sun. This unique orientation makes it a standout place for Sun worship. Historical Significance: The temple's exact origins are shrouded in mystery. Legends claim Lord Vishwakarma built it in one night, while evidence suggests its presence around the 7th or 8th century CE. Inscriptions point to renovations by King Bhairavendra in the 15th century. Chhath Puja Center: Deo Surya Mandir is one of the most sacred places for Chhath Puja celebrations in Bihar. A large pond surrounds the temple, adding to its beauty during the festival. However, unlike the wide-open spaces of the Ganges in Patna, reaching the temple by vehicle becomes difficult during Chhath due to the large crowds. Architectural Blend: The temple's architecture is a unique mix of Nagari, Dravidian, and Vesara styles. A dome with a gold urn placed on top adds to its grandeur. So, Deo Surya Mandir offers a place steeped in history, with a unique architectural style, and a central point for Chhath Puja celebrations, though with some access limitations during the festival
Piyush R — Google review
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Visiting this ancient Hindu temple was a truly captivating experience. As one of the oldest temples, it holds a profound historical significance. The architectural marvel speaks volumes about the craftsmanship of its builders. The temple's resilience is commendable, having withstood the test of time, including a period of demolition during the Mughal era. Despite the challenges, the spirit and sacred aura of this place prevail, reminding us of the enduring cultural legacy. Exploring its sacred grounds transports you to a bygone era, offering a glimpse into the deep-rooted traditions and spirituality that have been cherished for centuries. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking a connection with India's rich cultural tapestry.

The Deo Sun temple of Aurangabad, Bihar, is located 14 km from the district headquarters. This temple is a solar shrine dedicated to the god Surya. It is popular across the country for its Chhath puja. The temple follows the traditional style of Nagara architecture. It is one of the few west-facing Sun temples. When we enter the temple premises we can see two huge Shivlangas and some unique shaped square stones craved like flowers below the giant bell. The sanctum santorum of the temple features idols of the lord Surya, Vishnu and Avalokiteshvara. The temple pavilion is now filled with colours hiding its actual beauty. If you want to see the real beauty of the entrance you can see this in the painting of Daniells and the photographs by Peppe. The main attraction of this temple is its main structure which is 100ft tall with beautifully carved Amalika and Kalash on the top. The stones used in the temple are the same used in the Umga temple. People believe that these two temples are built by the same person overnight. This is briefly explained by the historian and author Premendra Mishra in his book "The Mysterious Hills Umga" with logical facts about how temples were made overnight back then. According to Premendra Mishra, this temple is 200 to 600 years older than the temple of Umga. Still, there are many theories regarding the dating of this temple which is not cleared in any inscription found here. But according to local legends, the temple was built by King Aila 949126 years ago. But as we see the architecture of the temple which is of Nagara style is a maximum of 1400 years old. Historians believe that this temple was erected in the 6th-7th century by the Chandravanshi king.
