Visited Ettamanoor Shiva Temple after visiting Vaikom temple & Major Mahadev Temple Brahmamangalam. We reached after 10:30, so there was wait for the abhishekam. Not too crowded but yes there was enough crowd. There's huge parking but open not shaded. But it's free. There are small stalls to get some assescories and gift items and Statue. There's a refreshment stall too There's washroom available.

A beautiful spot worth visiting over a weekend, own vehicles are allowed only up to the base parking spot, from there dedicated jeeps take tourists to the top. It's a serene hill top with a near steep trek to the top. There are no proper steps for some distance and that's what makes it worth the visit. The trek will prove you tough for differently abled and senior citizens. But there are plenty of other spots for everyone to explore. The entire location is filled with scenic views, all around. It's worth enjoying with family and friends. Even the approach roads are awesome.

We visited it during a Sunday. The view point is somewhat up in a hill where you can either take a jeep or walk. It was a bit crowded. The view was indescribable. Though we could only spot the kallu from the valley of the hill, climbing the hill and experiencing the mist and fog felt joyous. The picturesque walking up the hill seemed as if climbing the great wall of china with the new railings installed. There is an interlock pathway confined to the area where the hill meets the land just to ease the walking uphill. And there are some benches where you can sit and relax. However there are no steps or pathway uphill which might be risky for kids and adults. With the rain, the terrain turned muddy and slippery. Illikkal kallu deserves to be visited atleast once in a lifetime.

There is a jeep trip from the parking area to the start of the hill hike. Recommend to take that, walking would be a bit hard, especially if you are there around noon. Try to visit in the mrng or evng. Excessive amount of tourists visiting the hill has caused soil erosion. There was some construction works going on without any precautions.

Illikkal Kallu gave me one of those rare moments where you feel small in the best possible way. I can’t wait to go back with friends and soak in that view all over again.

An excellent structure built by Canadian engineers. The dam which is the source of water for Kerala's largest hydro electric power station. Walking is not allowed over the dam now. We can use the buggy service to move around.

It is believed that Bhagavathi here cures mental and physical ailments, and I truly felt her healing presence. If you are seeking blessings, inner peace, or spiritual strength – this temple is a must-visit. More than just a pilgrimage, it felt like a divine calling. I left the temple with a peaceful heart and renewed spirit.

ARCHITECTURE The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam, Namaskara mandapam, Nalammbalam, thiruchuttambalam. Sanctum sanctorum is square in plan on a pada bandha adhistanam. The temple was constructed with stone from adhistanam to parastaram. A two tier nagara/ pyramidal Kerala style vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. The namaskara mandapam is with an elevated level platform and pyramidal vimanam. HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS It is believed the original temple belongs to 10th century CE, constructed during Chera period. Since the temple was built with wood, the temple underwent many renovations. The temple received contributions from, Cheras, Pandyas, Venadu, Travancore Kings, etc. KIZHUKKAVU TEMPLE On the eastern side of the temple pond stands the Kizhukkavu temple.The temple faces west (faces Chottanikara Bhagavathi temple). It is believed that the presiding deity was installed by Vilwamangalam Swamiyar. After the Athazha pooja (main pooja in the evening), the chief priest of the principal deity comes to Kizhukkavu to perform the famous and great pooja "ValiyaGuruthy" (great Sacrifice). The Guruthy is prepared in 12 cauldrons (huge vessel) and is performed at about 8.45 p.m every night. Those who witness the guruthy performance, which itself is awe inspiring and prolonged ceremony, finds it an experience which is indescribable. Being present here during Valiya guruthy on Fridays permanently cures women suffering from mental abnormalities like schizophrenia. An ancient 'Pala' tree standing on the northeastern side of the sanctum sanctorum is covered with long iron nails hammered on by haunted victims with their foreheads.

The interiors are incredible, especially the murals and ceilings, as are most of the exhibits. The entry price - 5 rupees - is ridiculously low. It should be increased significantly for foreigners. We spent a happy hour here and could have spent more. The only disappointment we found with the place is that the entrance and surrounds need to be tarted up a bit to make the exterior look more attractive. Otherwise, top marks

Small palace or building converted to museum of sorts. Displayes certain items used by the royals like swords, knives, palanquins, headgears, uniforms etc. Tickets prices only Rs 5 for adults. You dont need to spend a lot of time since there isnt much to see. Lots of historical writeups on the royal family are there probably downloaded from Google and placed for public to read. Temple at the ground floor open only occasionallly and allows only Hindus to enter. Small market outside sells good small useful items at a fair price.

We just made it in time for the Kathakali show here, and I’m so glad we didn’t miss it. The makeup starts at 4:30 PM, and they do it right on stage so the audience can see the whole transformation — honestly, that itself felt like part of the show. The theatre is calm and welcoming, with devotional music and even a nice fragrance around, which made the experience feel special. Before the main performance, they explained the grammar of Kathakali — the expressions, eye movements, and hand gestures — and it was absolutely fascinating. The actual play started at 6 PM, and I was blown away — the makeup, the live instruments, the narration-singing, everything came together beautifully. You can really feel the love for culture in every detail. They also have a small shop at the back with souvenirs like oils, magnets, and antiques. Overall, it’s one of those experiences that stays with you — I’d definitely watch it again.

Fantastic experience at the Kathakali Centre. The staff are caring and committed to preserving the deep artistic heritage of Kerala, showcasing the various traditional artisans with respect and love. You see a small glimpse of performances, guaranteed to inspire you to seek out the full day long performances in the future. We watched an hour long Kathakali show, and a short demonstation of Kalari as well, both were fascinating in their own ways. I wish the centre a lot of success!! Please do visit and support the arts and culture of Kerala!

After 6 month wait, finally we could make it last week. We witnessed the Kathakali performance (including makeup) and Kalaripayatu(martial arts). Excellent performance by the artists in both shows. Good seating arrangements, light and sound. Ease of contacting and booking, courteous hosting and punctuality. Please make it day wise schedule because we wanted to watch classical dance as well but it was on a different day.

Its a must watch experience!!!! If you go early you can get a good spot near the stage where the artist do an interactive performance! All their efforts are so worth every penny. Absolutely loved it💚

Would surely recommend the Kathakali show. It takes us closer to our culture. The effort it takes to get ready for the show and the show itself is memorable. We should encourage these theatre forms for our future generations. My entire family enjoyed the ambirnce and the performance.

It is a Must visit place in Kochi. A unique and good experience along the side of the coast. The fisherman will do a lot of fishing on the sea shore. The mechanism is quite simple yet thoughtful. A few places give a demonstration about how it's done, we got a chance to see the entire mechanism because we had joined a bigger group. Lots of variety of fishes are available of various sizes. You can also purchase along the side and get it cooked in your stay if they allow.

Great place for viewing Arabian sea. You can watch the ships entering and leaving channel. Lot of food joints in around the Bay. Fresh seafood restaurants are there

If you are looking for a sunset backed pic of the Chinese fishing nets, try to reach before 6pm (check local timing for sunset). We unfortunately reached just after sunset but luckily still got some okay pics. There are many shops where you can check out fresh catch and ask for it to be prepared right in front of you. I am sure it will be pricey but should be okay for a one time experience. There is a sunset view point a little ahead of the Chinese fishing nets which you should visit. The ferry is awesome from Marine Drive (High Court Junction) which costs just 40 bucks. AC ferry which is very well maintained

The home stay was amazing! The family was really nice and the service was at the best. They made us great homemade dinner and breakfast, and took us through their garden.

From the first few minutes, when we were greeted with a snack and homegrown and roasted coffee, to the very last moments of our stay, my husband and I felt truly welcomed. All members of this wonderful family went out of their way to make this a memorable experience. A must-see is a tour of the garden and nursery, which has an amazing variety of spices, plants and flowers. Just out your window and from the veranda are beautiful local birds, great for birdwatching. Dileep had a number of tours that could be arranged on the spot, and he also arranged a private car to out next destination. We had a great time on a full day tour with Roy, who went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Evening meals there were delicious and hearty, as were the breakfasts. The homemade pineapple marmalade was a special treat. I don't usually write reviews this long, but I was really impressed with this place. I could write more, but I'll let you discover it for yourself.

Perfect homestay. Dileep and his family are perfect hosts. They helped us to plan, cooked amazong meals for us and we also learned more about the culture and nature. The homestay is very sustainable and the garden full with spices and plants. We would highly recommend.

We only booked in for the tour of the gardens and cooking class and it was a great experience. We did however go first to the Rose Gardens in Munnar - so by the time we had sorted that mistake out and drove to the correct location (40mins away on the Kochi-Munnar Rd) we were a bit late! However Dileep was very understanding and accommodated our late arrival. The cooking class was run by Raji, (Dileep's mother) and Rose, (Dileep's wife). Two lovely women who talked us through the 4 x dishes we created. Really lovely food and easy recipes to follow. Highly recommended even though its a bit out of town, its worth the trip. Thanks to Dileep and family for a great morning cooking and recipes we can wow our friends with back home!

It's also possible to do cooking classes and get a tour around the garden. The whole family is super friendly, and we felt very welcome there. Great place to relax!

Cheeyappara Waterfalls is a stunning sight right along the Kochi–Munnar highway — you can’t miss it. The cascading water over the rocks looks beautiful, especially during or just after the monsoon. It’s a great roadside stop to take photos, enjoy some fresh air, and grab tea or snacks from the small stalls nearby. Parking can get busy on weekends, but the view is absolutely worth the quick break. A perfect start to your Munnar trip!

This waterfall falls on the way to Munnar from Kochi airport. Since we visited during May when it started raining we happen to catch a glimpse of this waterfall enroute. Not a great fan of crowded place but only the waterfall was good. Since it was afternoon when we visited this place, there were a lot of visitors around which made it very unpleasant experience for us. We just halted for 5 mins , clicked few pictures and we left the premises as soon as we can. Tip: try to visit this waterfall early morning so that the place is crowdless and the experience is great. I wouldn't recommend anyone to spend and time here.

Cheeyappara Waterfalls, located along NH 85 (Kochi–Madurai Highway) near Chillithodu, is one of the most beautiful roadside waterfalls in Kerala. The best part is that you don’t need to take a long trek to enjoy it—the falls are clearly visible right from the highway, making it a perfect stop for travelers heading towards Munnar. From Kochi, it takes about 2–3 hours by road (around 48 km before Munnar), and from Munnar town, it’s just a 40–minute drive. Public buses and cabs regularly pass this route, so reaching here is very easy. The waterfall cascades down several rocky steps, creating a refreshing and picturesque view, especially during the monsoon season when it flows in full glory. Entry is completely free for everyone, and there are small shops nearby for tea, snacks, and souvenirs. A wonderful roadside attraction, Cheeyappara Waterfalls is definitely worth a visit on your Munnar trip!

We visited tea gardens during our trip from munnar to Thekkady. Tea garden owner charged Rs. 50/- for per person visit for that. Although it's nothing in front of scenic beauty. We enjoyed it very much, All the warriors performances were very wonderful and Commendable. Must visit

We spent several very interesting hours watching the process to give everyone their cup of tea! Firstly there is a film which gives the background history. The set up which is a village of workers and includes hospital, Nursery, school and housing. A job for life ! The tea gardens are all around, miles and miles of small hills covered in tea. It is a very skilful job knowing which leaf to take. We went around the factory seeing the processes involved. The staff showing us fiercely proud. At the end we had a cup of tea of course and just like theme parks the obligatory shop on the way out!

A former Tata group owned factory/museum dedicated to rich history of beginning of tea plantation era and story of bringing eucalyptus tree in the Munnar valley. Located within 10 km radius of munnar city. Must visit place if you want to know about the history of tea plantation, settlement of Tamil people in Malayalam speaking state. The stuff of bygone era beautifully preserved. Also one can witness making of ctc tea from raw tea leaves excellently demonstrated and told. Also came to know about difference of white leaves, first flush etc. Truly knowledgeable journey. There is shop also adjacent the tea factory where one can purchase tea at reasonable price of his choice.

Its location is beautiful as it is situated in the valley of tea plantation but I was not too impressed with their management. First the tickets can only be bought by cash was a bit of a hassles for us. Inside it was crowded and we were rushed in all the rooms where antiques were, later a huge crowd were given the demo which was a bit difficult to follow from distance among the crowd. I would recommend to find other private tours which we did later and it was a short group and more detailed one.

It's about 1 hour to reach there on foot from the Munnar town market like me in a muddy and gloomy rainy day, but could have been a way shorter time if it was a good sunny weather! On the way, there were only private tour cars and 🛺 auto rickshaws, which threw water splash all over me unfortunately, which i believe they didn't mean, but it was what it was. All my clothes and shoes were soaking wet reaching there and back to my hotel in the town on foot since I was already soaked. One good side is not about the tes museum, the tea plantation along was gorgeous and enjoyed breaking some time to capture the moments! The tea museum is quite small in size and just ok for one time visit, nothing special! There is a equally as big as a gift shop right next to it. One mystery thing is that I couldn't locate any toilet facility in there where i was hoping to clean up my muddy shoes, perhaps I couldn't find one.

The water body is well maintained, pollution free. there are different varieties of boat rides. Speed boat gives an awesome adventurous feel, a must try. If you lucky can see elephants and bison come to the dam territory to drink water. good place to enjoy and have fun. Tickets can be booked online which is preferable rather than buying tickets over the counter which leads to wait time.

It’s a nice scenic place with a beautiful dam surrounded by greenery. The water looks clean, and you can even enjoy boating here it costs around ₹400 for 30 minutes. There’s also horse riding available, and you can get your photos clicked with a professional camera for about ₹100 per big photo. Apart from that, there are small shops, street food stalls, and a few local items to explore. Overall, it’s a good place for a one-time visit and to spend a relaxed day outdoors.

Construction of this concrete dam commenced in 1949, just a few years following India's independence. Mattupetty Dam was completed and opened to the public in 1953, within a span of five years. A visit to Mattupetty Dam presents breathtaking views of a serene lake, enveloped by verdant landscapes and mist-shrouded hills. The peaceful ambiance makes it an ideal location for relaxation and immersion in nature. This area is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, offering opportunities for boating and other water-based activities. Pedal boats, speedboats, and rowboats are available, providing an enjoyable experience for families, couples, friends, and adventure seekers alike. However, the heavy traffic in and around the dam can be a source of inconvenience. The area can become quite congested, often resulting in traffic delays. The presence of large buses navigating the single-lane road across the dam can contribute to traffic congestion, particularly during peak seasons. Nevertheless, by venturing a short distance away from the crowded areas, one can discover a peaceful atmosphere, escaping the chaos and fully appreciating the dam's scenic beauty.

Dam not big in size with free entry and small market for shopping, completed in 1953 for hydroelectricity purposes, is set amid lush mountains and dense foliage of eucalyptus trees. If you're lucky, you can see different wildlife species at Mattupetty Dam such as elephants, bison, deer and birds. You can also visit the nearby Eravikulam National Park or Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary for more wildlife spotting opportunities.

The dam itself has a narrow road with two way movement of vehicles and tourists + those visiting passing through. The parking lot is prone to puddles of water with light rain. The reservoir (lake) is picturesque, particularly when the mist is descending. There's boating for those who are interested. Is it a must-see? Perhaps a bit underwhelming for many, but you need to pass this place to visit Echo Point and other attractions further away.

Good for clicking pictures. Goodviewpointt. Boating present at the dam. We could not go inside due to traffic jams and the place was too crowded. We had a lot of time constraints, too. You can enjoy the view along the bridge. The lake is surrounded by tall trees.

One among the finest beaches nearby Kochi (Cochin). The sandy beach and great sunset views would give you memorable moments. There are foods and souvenirs available here but there is a good scope for improvement.

"Clean, Calm, and Perfect for a Relaxing Getaway!" Cherai Beach is one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches near Kochi. With golden sands, gentle waves, and a clean shoreline, it's perfect for a relaxing day out.

What didn’t work well: Parking charged at around ₹30/hour without designated slots or secure fencing. I had to park in mud and struggled to exit—a guard set the fee, but no proper system or shelter. The beach area is tight and congested, especially during evenings. Space to walk, sit, or play is limited. The shoreline has noticeably narrowed—sea erosion seems to have taken over the sand, reducing usable area. Waste and debris are common, especially after high tides. There’s no visible cleaning schedule or waste management system. Few signboards or markers to guide visitors on safe zones, entry points, or amenities. Numerous resorts and restaurants line the edge, but prices are high, making the experience feel more commercial than relaxing. Safety feels uneven—lifeguards are present only at the main beach, leaving parts of the shore less monitored. The narrow access roads are often crowded or uneven, making approach and exit difficult. Positive aspects to highlight: The location is scenic—where backwaters meet the sea; gentle tides often make it suitable for dolphin spotting. Early mornings and off-peak hours offer calm, peaceful views and a quieter stretch to enjoy. A few local vendors sell light bites such as fried banana or chilli—simple and tasty. Suggestions for improvement: Create organized, secure parking with shade or paved surfaces—and consider validating or waiving fees for visitors. Increase frequency of beach cleaning crews and establish designated waste bins to manage both tidal and on-site debris. Install clear signage and maps to guide visitors to access points, seating areas, restrooms, safety zones, and lifeguard-watched areas. Expand the beach footprint or undertake erosion control measures to restore walking and leisure space. Offer affordable lounge spaces or shaded seating for families and groups, separate from high-cost resorts. Consider extending lifeguard coverage to broader areas or offering beach safety warnings during peak hours. Overall recommendation: Cherai Beach has charm and potential, especially for early-morning strolls or a quick getaway. However, the current experience is hampered by parking hassles, limited space, unclear safety measures, and inadequate cleanliness. Cherai Beach is a beautiful spot with clean sands and calm waves. Perfect for a relaxing evening walk or watching the sunset. The beach is less crowded than others, making it ideal for families and couples. Definitely a must-visit if you're near Kochi.

Scenic views. You should go there if you just want to relax and be with nature, need to be fit enough to finish the entire trek, needs 3 hours minimum to explore. Facilities available for food. Unfortunately we didn't find the goats during our visit.

the Eravikulam National Park would be good but the visitors are allowed only very very limited access. Secondly, There is no control on local village vehicles and both the Forest department vehicles and the local villager vehicles ply too fast which will affect the animal movement. Thirdly, we had hired a exclusive electrical vehicle for visit. wildlife sighting was limited to Lion-tailed macaque. the Vehicle driver had limited knowledge of wildlife of maybe a communication problem. Paying Rs 7500/ seemed too high, given the experience. the forest department should take care of these issues. The VR Show of Eravikulam National Park was good. The Eravikulam National Park has endangered Nilgiri Tahr, along with mammals like the Gaur, Sambar Deer, Nilgiri Langur, tiger, and leopard. The park is also a significant bird habitat, with 132 species recorded, including endemics such as the black-and-orange flycatcher and Nilgiri pipit. unlike we were not able to experience the wildlife, just the drive, most of which was lovely tea estates. A sincere request to forest department, to control vehicle speed and the noise pollution by vehicles

Brilliant place to visit if you love nature and magnificent views. A bus takes you from the entrance of the park to a quarter of the way up. After that you can walk to up to half way. It is not a long walk about 20 minutes at a slow pace. The views are magnificent and there are many springs and waterfalls along the way. I wish the path went up further and there were more different paths. It would be a hikers paradise.

A natural way and big walk. Enjoy a bit of nature. But nothing special otherwise than a walk up the hill. Could be strenuous for old or heart patients. Overall it's okay place. We didn't see any animals.

It's a beautiful place between fog and clouds. Eravikulam National Park is home of endangered species (Nilgiri Tahr) and many special species of plants and flowers!! And yes nature is mashallah❤️ But if you are going to see Nilgiri Tahr don't go, visibility of Nilgiri Tahr is very rare . So enjoy the nature don't expect anything. But yes we have seen wild elephants.

An elephant camp by Govt. Parking available at payment. 70 Rs per ticket for people and 35 for senior citizens. 8 elephants are now here including the notorious one in the history Peelandu Chandru. Needs more maintainance. Children park is there with some rides. Also one eco shop canteen by department is available. Basic toilet facilities also available. Worth for 1 time visit

We went to this centre to see the elephants with our family. We could tell it was a great place for children to spent time in. It's a govt funded training centre for rescue elephants. The place was very quiet with lots of beautiful trees and their canopy protecting from the heat. We went their in an afternoon and it was like trekking. We had to walk through the forest like place with a pavement road in the middle and after awhile we could see some areas with protected deers and elephants. It's a great place to spent time in if you want to relax with nature and hear the birds flying through the thick trees. We can also see some areas of a lake where the elephant bathe most days. There are bamboo seats everywhere to sit and look at the greenery. We also saw some tree houses . It's a great place to enjoy nature and get some fresh air.

Kodanad elephant park is situated near Perumbavoor on the banks of Periyar River in Ernakulam district .It's one of the famous elephant training centres in Kerala Located at the distance of 45 km towards the north east of Kochiit's a place where the newly captured elephants are kept for training. Earlier, elephants were captured in the Malayattoor forests and trained at Kodanad. Though capturing Elephants are banned now and Kodanadjust become the training centre for elephants. There are many walkways beside the river that give pleasant experience to the visitors. There is a small wildlife park at the centre which is a home of deer and other wildlife.

The place has a huge area with very well maintained flora and fauna. The elephants here look healthy and friendly. A good place for a nice stroll,with fruit orchards, bamboo trees etc. A great number of deers as well as sambar deer are there. The butterfly garden is also nice. The place also has 2-3 tree houses which is yet another highlight.The place is very well maintained with a nice park, swings and some really good photo spots. Parking is also lavish.

It's a very nice place amidst nature. Such a big forest with a few big elephants and lots of deer. Spotted Deer and Sambar Deer are seen. It has a very big parking space. Take your tickets and go inside. Toilet available but no lights inside. Cafeteria available but with less options. Children park is also there even swings for the adults. One watch tower to climb up and take pictures. On the other side boating is available. It's a nice place for a day outing. Elephant Training can be seen but not allowed to go near them. Roads are well connected. No hotels nearby. Better to come in the morning and enjoy here.

The food, stay and the hospitality by the tribal people was awesome. The only place we had issues with the guide. Better to plan in Feb or March as you can see many animals due to summer. Kudos to the food preparation

Stay is very good. The wash rooms are kept neat and clean. Bedsheets and furnitures are cleanly maintained.

Excellent place. The rooms are neat and clean. In the morning, I saw a beautiful peacock sitting on the fence and saw a giant squirrel. This place is much more suitable for people visiting groups where you can get 6 rooms in the same place.

A guest house inside a deep forest maintained by kerela eco tourism. You can spot deers peacocks and sometimes elephants near this stay. The overall experience is amazing. But only drawback was even if drinking and smoking is banned here few tourist were drinking and smoking and created lot of chaos there. That ruined the place. Do not do that

Park is open 6 AM–6 PM; check‑posts close at 4 PM—don’t miss the 6 PM Valparai cutoff ⚠️. Roads are steep and narrow, drive carefully 🚗. No shops inside—carry water, snacks, and a camera. The reserve is rich in biodiversity—800+ plant species, 250+ birds ﹨cite﹂turn0search6﹂turn0search1﹁. Best time to visit is October to May for pleasant weather and sightings. Avoid weekends/holidays—they get crowded by midday. Stunning for nature‑lovers seeking calm forest trails, wildlife and views ✨.

Very serene place. We went around noon so it was a little hot but it was not that warm. We saw monkeys, deer, peacocks etc. but if it was evening time we could see more of them. There is a canteen near the top slip and washrooms were also available. Through this we can reach the kerala border through Parambikulam Tiger reserve but the road is not recommended. Better coming back through Aanamalai tiger reserve is best.

Nice place to chill over the weekends. We can see elephants live feeding at the camp, other wild animals like bison, deer, bird varieties, monkeys(not the one's that we usually see), wild squirrels, wild elephants etc. Try to be here early as possible, maybe around 6.30 so that you can see wild animals inside the reserve.

Good jungle safari. Spotted elephants, deep down the woods. Morning first safari we could enjoy fresh nature breeze as well as elephant’s feeding. Evening sessions may also have them bathing 😆😜

Mostly very hot place . Only day time we can travel through this forest area. Thick forest mostly we can see monkey, peacock,little birds . Can't stop the vehicle inbetween passing . Don't throw any waste & plastic items . Can experience a good forest drive . Fresh air .

Very peaceful, beautiful and an important place in the film history perspective. Better to visit in monsoon or the winter season, else the scorching sun will not allow your sense of relaxation to exist. Tender coconut is a bit costly, wondered why the land of coconut has become like this. There are other places better than this nearby. Need atleast two days to completely experience this out.

Aliyar Dam is in Tamil Nadu but it is part of the Parambikkulam-Aliyar Project. The dam is a good tourist destination. You can spend some time on the dam viewing the deep blue water in the reservoir and the surrounding hills. It is an excellent spot for photos. Usually there are several tourists on the dam. If you go there in the evening you will love the dam and the surroundings in the fading light.

One of my favourite dams in Tamil Nadu is this one. ​I love this place for its serene and nature-bound atmosphere. The dam offers a fantastic view of Valparai and other mountains. ​Don't miss the stunning view from atop the dam. Be sure to walk the full length to witness more scenic views of the bridge, the flowing water, and the surrounding mountains. The entire area seems to be covered with coconut trees. ​The small entry fee is well worth it to enjoy the beauty of the place. It's especially beautiful to visit on non-summer days. You'll find many small eateries outside the dam. ​This is a place you shouldn't miss when you're in Pollachi.

Aliyar Dam is a charming location surrounded by Annamali Hills with wonderful natural views. It is located between Pollachi and Valparai. The dam's location amidst the Western Ghats provides a stunning backdrop, and the surrounding hills and reservoir offer picturesque views. Mango orchid and coconut trees on the one side and hills and water on the other side. Absolute beauty. Entry fee is 5 ₹ person and 20₹ to carry mobile phones inside. Note they don’t accept UPI at the counter , so carry cash. Inside the premises they have various play stations - swings toy trains and many other kids play games - few of them are paid entry. You have to walk to the top of the damn via stairs - close to 100 steps .

The entry fee is quite affordable, just ₹5 per person for access to the garden attached to the dam. If you plan to take pictures using your mobile, there’s an additional ₹20 photography fee. The garden is well-maintained with smaller fountains adding to its charm. After exploring the garden, you can climb the stairs to get closer to the dam. One side of the dam is bordered by the scenic garden, while the other side is flanked by magnificent mountains, making it an incredible sight. Outside the garden, you’ll find some small vendors selling fruits and snacks, although they tend to charge slightly more as it’s a tourist area. However, during my visit, I didn’t see any vendors inside the garden itself. There are also a few shops near the entrance where you can grab some food. For families with children, the kids’ play area inside the garden is a thoughtful addition. If visiting during the daytime, especially in hot weather, it’s advisable to carry water bottles and a cap to stay comfortable. The best time to visit is in the evening when the weather is cooler and the views are even more magical. Parking facilities are available outside the garden, making it convenient for those arriving in private vehicles.

Essential Visitor Information- Dress Code: Be aware of the strict dress code for men: they must remove their shirts and enter with their torsos bare above the waist. Worship Time: Due to the large number of devotees, your time in front of the main deity is very brief—you typically get only 30–45 seconds to see and pray to the divine lord. Closing Hours: The temple is extremely punctual with its closing schedule. It shuts down exactly at 11:30 AM on weekends/special days and 11:00 AM on normal weekdays. Plan your visit accordingly to ensure you don't miss the morning darshan. A Tip for Tourists Be mindful of the lottery sellers operating just outside the temple gates. They can be quite persistent in trying to lure tourists into buying tickets. It’s best to politely decline and keep moving. Overall, this is a beautiful and spiritual experience! Parking can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but the overall experience more than makes up for it. In short Sree Vadakkumnathan Temple isn’t just a religious site and it’s a place where spirituality, history, and Keralas cultural essence meet beautifully. Finally I would say that it's a Must visit for anyone who wants to feel the soul of Thrissur and Kerala’s heritage.

Most famous temple in thrissur where thrissur pooram is celebrated. We visited there in the evening after 5pm (suggesting you the same). No dress code like traditional dress like mundu and saree in this temple. But men has to remove their shirts while visiting the main deity. After coming out we sat near the temple and watched sunset.

Chavakad beach is, like any beach, fascinating giant waves, yes waving you to come near get drenched in the salty water enthusiastically calling you inviting you like a friendly host which very rarely you can resist.. The great grand sea continuously roaring with white hearted foam, the waves humbly bending the face like a young wife blushing.. You can't take it that way always.. at times gets ferocious and swallows whatever coming on its way. Anyway enjoy the sea from a distance safely sitting on the beach. Chavakad beach tells these to you when you go there. Don't miss it. 🙂🙂👍

The place is great with comparatively less number of people. The main problem here is some guys are suspicious and were always looking for our bag while we were in the sea. Security there is a lack. Otherwise Sun set view in there is magical

We visited Chavakkad Beach in the evening around 4 PM. The beach was very neat and clean, and we really enjoyed our time there. My daughter had a wonderful time playing in the sand and watching the waves. However, it is not safe to go deep into the sea, so we stayed near the shore and played carefully. There are small shops near the beach where you can buy snacks and drinks. We traveled from Guruvayoor to the beach by auto-rickshaw. The auto fare was ₹200 one way, so it cost us ₹400 for the round trip. Overall, it was a beautiful and refreshing experience at Chavakkad Beach.

Visited this temple during our coimbatore visit, this temple was suggested by Anandas hotel manager. The temple is located 12-15kms from coimbatore city. The Vinayagar idol is about 6ft tall and looks magnificent. The entire temple gives you a Devine feeling. There is a small garden and a marriage area inside the temple. Parking is available for 3 to 4 cars, there are shops to buy pooja items as well. this temple is located under the flyover and has continuous vehicle movement. This temple is special because many new bike or car buyers get their pooja done here. Many devotees also perform dristi removal ritual with coconut here. Nice place to add to your coimbatore list.

The Adiyogi area of Isha Yoga centre is about a km from parking area. This is a very impressive giant sized statue on a large platform. There is a Shiv Linga in the forecourt area of this statue where visitors can offer Jal abhishek amidst continuous chanting. A good arrangement ! But the walk from parking to the adi Yogi arena can be a challenging one for senior citizens & children during mornings & summer times as it's a wide open area without any trees/shade. So beware of this aspect & go prepared with sunglasses, Caps etc.

Well, big land converted to a religious place having Lor Shiva's statue 🙏 but other than the statue, it is just a place where you can enjoy some food, have shower, and see bullock cart. Lastly a Dome, also called Dhyanlinga where you can sit and meditate. It can also be done at home for people who don't know. Try this, go back home and close your eyes, empty your mind and call upon whoever you worship. God is within you. They have SAVE SOIL slogan and they love animals. There is bullock cart in 50° degrees carrying passengers from one place to the other. I mean we have battery cars and golf cars but they love animals and want them to know that they are loved deeply. Lets make these poor animals carry 9 people at once under the 50° degree sun. Touche! Tradition can be supported with technology too, we don't need to harm animals this way. We could barely walk in the sun and these poor animals were carrying so many people. God forgive these people who are doing this to animals 🙏 BATH FACILITY - We had shower in the morning so we didn't go shower here. I mean it's not elixir otherwise we would have definitely. DHYANLINGA - the road (walk only) leads to dhyanlinga but when its nearly 50° degrees, it makes it difficult to walk barefoot on the UNEVEN and hot surface. They could have put Carpet on the foor covering uneven surface but i guess they were short of funds and also they wanted you to feel the culture. You are going to feel that culture the next day too when your feet hurts. There were old people walking slowly and some of them were pouring water on the floor to walk on that hot surface. It was 3PM and Carpet is a must for people who aren't used to walking on the uneven hot surface. Finally when you reach dhyanlinga, they will force you to sit inside dome and meditate. We recently had an accident and couldn't sit on floot so they forced us to sit on the chair. We didn't want to be rude so we sat for 2 minutes. There was a small baby crying very softly and these CARETAKERS asked the lady to get out pointing finger as if she made a huge mistake.
