You have to book the tickets in advance through online. KSEB Hydel tourist website. Keep all the electronic gadgets including mobile and camera in your vehicle. There will be a security check and entry through metal detector.

Visited on Chingam (malayalam month 1st day) sunday, so there was huge rush Usually there's puja that starts from 7am & last till 8am so one might experience extreme weight time when visiting. There's 2-3 parking place but might be crowded if visiting during peak hours & weekend day's. Especially morning times. There's lot of history and temple is well maintained. Washroom aren't available.

A Truly Divine Experience at Chottanikkara Bhagavathi Temple Visiting Chottanikkara Bhagavathi Temple was one of the most powerful spiritual experiences of my life. The moment I stepped inside the temple premises, I could feel the divine energy and blessings of Amme Narayana, Devi Narayana echoing in every corner. The early morning Guruthi Pooja and the chanting of mantras create an atmosphere that touches the soul and brings a deep sense of peace. The temple is beautifully maintained, and the priests perform every ritual with great devotion. I felt a strong spiritual connection as if the Goddess herself was guiding and protecting me. It is believed that Bhagavathi here cures mental and physical ailments, and I truly felt her healing presence. If you are seeking blessings, inner peace, or spiritual strength – this temple is a must-visit. More than just a pilgrimage, it felt like a divine calling. I left the temple with a peaceful heart and renewed spirit.

Such a powerful temple, really loved the place. I reached around 6 AM, and all facilities like dormitory, bathroom, restroom and cloak room are available just nearby. Mobile phones you can keep in silent mode. From 7 to 8 AM, poojai will be going on, so you will have to wait around one hour in the queue.

Idol of Mahavishnu made out of Saligrama is on the same pedestal along with Bhagavathi Amman and so the Deity is called Ammenarayana, Devinarayana, Lakshminarayana and Bhadrenarayana also. Along with Lakshmi & Narayana there are idols of Brahma, Siva, Ganapati (Ganesh), Subramanya, and Sastha on the same pedestal. In the thiruchuttambalam /outer praharam Kizhukkavu Bhagavathy temple, Sastha, Siva, Ganapati, Nagas and Kshetrapalakas and other Upa-Devas. Keelakarai Bhagavathy/ Keezhkkavu Bhagavathi Amman temple is about 200 meters from the main temple. Ayyappan temple on the way to the Keelakarai Bhagavathy Amman Temple. ARCHITECTURE The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam, Namaskara mandapam, Nalammbalam, thiruchuttambalam. Sanctum sanctorum is square in plan on a pada bandha adhistanam. The temple was constructed with stone from adhistanam to parastaram. A two tier nagara/ pyramidal Kerala style vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. The namaskara mandapam is with an elevated level platform and pyramidal vimanam. HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS It is believed the original temple belongs to 10th century CE, constructed during Chera period. Since the temple was built with wood, the temple underwent many renovations. The temple received contributions from, Cheras, Pandyas, Venadu, Travancore Kings, etc. KIZHUKKAVU TEMPLE On the eastern side of the temple pond stands the Kizhukkavu temple.The temple faces west (faces Chottanikara Bhagavathi temple). It is believed that the presiding deity was installed by Vilwamangalam Swamiyar. After the Athazha pooja (main pooja in the evening), the chief priest of the principal deity comes to Kizhukkavu to perform the famous and great pooja "ValiyaGuruthy" (great Sacrifice). The Guruthy is prepared in 12 cauldrons (huge vessel) and is performed at about 8.45 p.m every night. Those who witness the guruthy performance, which itself is awe inspiring and prolonged ceremony, finds it an experience which is indescribable. Being present here during Valiya guruthy on Fridays permanently cures women suffering from mental abnormalities like schizophrenia. An ancient 'Pala' tree standing on the northeastern side of the sanctum sanctorum is covered with long iron nails hammered on by haunted victims with their foreheads.

One Awesome lifetime experience. Haven’t ever played with an elephant this close. A professional handling came here. Affordable. So considerate and friendly staffs. Peaceful ambiance. Enjoyed a lot. Packages of all ranges available here from specific rides to full day package. The staffs were so genuine and made necessary arrangements for us. The elephant ride was like 15-20 mins and bathing and feeding elephants was around 20-25 mins. Totally had a wait time like 10 mins each. This place had a neat dress changing rooms with heater provisions and neat and clean rest rooms too. The small hut cafe was so neat and got freshly prepared food too. Great. Unforgettable experience

If you want to have a close encounter with elephants this is the place. You can have elephant ride too short though a nice experience. Since it was raining we couldn't explore other activities like elephant bathing, log lifting etc. You may be able to take pics with elephant. The mahout may expect some tips from u. It is advisable to book ur slot to avoid ques especially during holidays and peak days.Overall it was a nice experience.

It was an amazing experience! The Kalari martial arts performance was fantastic, especially the last 15 minutes with the fire display – truly thrilling to watch. After the show, you can also take photos with the artists, which is a nice touch. The Kathakali show was equally mind-blowing. The performance was powerful, and the singer’s voice added so much depth to the storytelling. Photos with the artists are allowed at the end here as well. Show timings: 6:00 – 7:00 PM: Kalari 7:00 – 8:00 PM: Kathakali Charges: ₹150 per person (kids free). Overall, it’s absolutely worth the visit if you’re in Thekkady!

Extremely worth seeing and understand the dance form and marshal art of Kerala. These two traditional forms were never displayed and explained better before. Hats off to the artists and participants who are so devoted and keeping these art forms alive. The centre is located in the center of Thakkady and easily accessible. Strongly Recommendation to visit this center to witness rich heritage of our country.

The pine forest with its mighty old trees was picture perfect. You should visit this place in early monsoon and late monsoon. The way the moss covers the tree trunks are something out of a fairy tale. The place has a mystic sense of beauty and adventure. The parking is wheelchair accessible but that's it. The minute you step into the forest you gotta be able to trust your legs and lungs. The climb down is easy and fun, you could go all the way down to see the creek that flows gently right beneath. But the climb back up is bound to break those sweat glands and give your lungs a run for their money. But don't let that keep you away from its beauty. As they say, the most beautiful places require the hardest climbs.

Pine valley forest as it is known and called is located on the right side the road when you are nearing Vagamon when coming from Elapara. Just after the main gate of Kerala Veterinary and Livestock University is this place. There is a paid parking place or try to park along the left side of the road while coming from Elapara. There is enough parking space on the left side of the road in front of the University campus which is greenery. The entrance fee per adult is Rs. 10/-. You have to walk 200 mtrs from the entrance to reach the pine valley. There are a lot of way side shops where you can buy home made chocolates, sweets, tea dust or tea leaves etc. I suggest buy home made chocolates only after eating a piece as most of the these chocolates are not at all sweet. Mostly good for diabetes people as it is not sweet but can be eaten with the feeling it is chocolate. Inside the pine trees campus you have to walk down the hill fully covered with pine trees and so can stay out of the sun rays and heat. Better to visit during afternoon if you are on a one day tour as it gives relief from the hot sun which you experience visiting the Vagamon meadows and Thangalpara etc. If you are visiting Vagamon on a one day tour or plan to leave Vagamon via Elapara towards the end of the day I advice to visit Pine Valley towards the end of the sightseeing as from pine valley you can leave directly to Elapara. There is a Kudumbasree Hotel at the entrance of pine valley where you can get homely food at moderate prices. Happy sightseeing

Good place to visit. Pleasant climate once we enter the forest. Steep and uneven pathway to walk. That's a small difficulty for some people. Else good place for photography. Lot of shops from entrance till forest. We can have snacks, buy things for kids and adults and much more.

one of the most famous things about the Vagamon hills is the pine forest. Vagamon Pine Forest is a region with acres occupied by magnificent Pine trees thriving in the environment on steep slopes which is very unique to the region. This man-made forest was created during the British era and today also it is standing tall and beautiful. Even at noon, when the sun is very strong, the heat of sun does not penetrate and keeps the land very cool. It is worth taking some time to relax in the middle of pine trees enjoying the cool weather

We visited around 11:00 am. First buy a entry ticket at the parking area then wait for the forest bus to pick up and then the journey starts. Once you reach the forest you have to buy boating tickets for ride, if u don't want to ride then you can also visit surrounded areas of the lake by other ways like trekking or walking. We reached late and by the time there was no boat for the ride and the next ride was after one hour so it was not worth the ride. So we take pictures at the entry point of the lake and nearby surrounding areas.

This review focuses on the boat safari, which is located inside the National Park. The safari lasts for one and a half hours and provides an amazing opportunity to see wildlife along the lake's banks. Sightings of elephants, deer, and bison are common, making it a unique and thrilling experience. To access the boat safari, I took a bus from the city, where there is excellent paid parking available. This was very convenient for me, as I traveled from Bangalore in my own vehicle. The parking area is spacious and very safe. The ticket counter for the bus, which takes you to the starting point of the boat safari, is located at the end of the parking lot. The bus journey took about half an hour. There are various time slots available for the boat safari, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. I chose the 1:45 PM to 3:15 PM slot. All the staff involved in the management were very helpful and humble, enhancing the overall experience. After finishing the boat ride, the return bus took us back to the same parking lot, and we did not need to buy bus tickets again. I forgot to carry binoculars, but if you want to watch the wildlife closely, it's a must-have. Photography enthusiasts should definitely bring zoom cameras. I visited in October, and the weather was pleasant, making the experience even more enjoyable. Periyar Boat Safari is a must-visit for nature lovers, offering a blend of adventure and serenity.

If you're lucky, the tranquil atmosphere might allow you to witness wildlife, like elephant families or even a tiger approaching the lake for a drink, making it an unforgettable experience. Even if wildlife sightings don’t happen, the surrounding landscape alone makes the trip worthwhile. Periyar Lake is a must-visit for nature lovers in Kerala!

This lake is inside the national park . The ticket price is 250 each for boat in this park and lake visit. The bus will take you from tickets counter to the park and then the ticket for boat ride. There is cafeteria and complex too. It’s an 1.5 hour boat ride and the way is too beautiful. If you are lucky then you will watch birds and animals there drinking water at the bank of the lake. Also camping and staying available there . We had morning batch boat and the views are too good .

A very good place to visit if you are in thekkady. Plan your day accordingly because there are lots of thing to do here Periyar lake boating is common here and if your are planning to do it kindly book you ticket in advance no offline ticket is possible here . We did nature walk here which was a very great experience to do. If you miss boating here you can do these other activities. You can look photos and videos for reference

It's a boat ride for 3 hours on Periyar Lake in the Periyar National Park. Upward journey takes 1.5 hrs and downward journey takes 1.5 hrs. You can find some wild animals like sambars, elephants, tigers (if you are lucky enough). You will certainly find the Sambars as they are more in number. We had found 4 cute Cubs but from a long distance, watched them on Binocular. The ticket price is ₹255 which is very reasonable price for 3 hrs ride.

Periyar is the longest river and the river with the largest discharge potential in Kerala.  It is one of the few perennial rivers in the region and provides drinking water for several major towns. The Periyar is of utmost significance to the economy of Kerala. It generates a significant proportion of Kerala's electrical power via the Idukki Dam, Mullaperiyar Dam and flows along a region of industrial and commercial activity. The river also provides water for irrigation and domestic use throughout its course besides supporting a rich fishery.  Due to these reasons, the river has been named the "Lifeline of Kerala". Mullaperiyar Dam is a masonry gravity dam on the Periyar River of Idukki district of Indian state of Kerala. It is situated 150km south east of Kochi and 200km north east of state capital city of Trivandrum. It is located 881 m (2,890 ft) above the sea level, on the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats in Thekkady, Idukki District of Kerala, India.

A lush green serene place full of tranquility where one can immerse in magic of nature. The boat ride in the lake and sighting of wild animals and birds roaming freely is icing on the top. From Periyar bus stand taken to jetty and carried out boat ride. One can purchase tickets at jetty itself if done earlier online. Excellent arrangements. One can opt for green walk also. Truly mesmerizing.

My visit to Periyar National Park was an amazing experience. I went bamboo rafting, took a boat safari. Rafting program includes 7 km trek into the forest and the rafting. It's lasted about an hour for one way. Although animal sightings were few, the trek and overall natural beauty made it worthwhile. If you’re hoping for more wildlife, the best time to visit is between April and May the animals will more easily spotted.

We were lucky to spot elephants, deer, and several bird species during our visit — a perfect place for nature and wildlife lovers. Visited Ettamanoor Shiva Temple after visiting Vaikom temple & Major Mahadev Temple Brahmamangalam. We reached after 10:30, so there was wait for the abhishekam. Not too crowded but yes there was enough crowd. There's huge parking but open not shaded. But it's free. There are small stalls to get some assescories and gift items and Statue. There's a refreshment stall too There's washroom available.

Visited this waterfall with my family, and it was a lovely experience overall. 🌿 The place is naturally beautiful, and even though the water flow was less during our visit, we could still enter and enjoy the refreshing surroundings. My kid had a great time! However, one area that could be improved is cleanliness — the toilets were not well-maintained. Entry fee is ₹26, which is reasonable for the experience.

Worst boating stay. They don't turn the AC on till night even if it's hot and humid outside. Horrible food which was served onboard. They didn't even offered salad along with food. No provision of cold drinking water. In name of welcome drinks, offered "Real Juice". It stinks at night as boat remains is stationed at one location. Washrooms weren't clean.

They won't drive full night,1:30 pm they were started,they stopped 1hr for lunch,again started ,they start different business fish market and spa, they all are business traps too cost we should be alert on those, finally they stopped the boat at 5pm near one village again they start tomorrow morning 7am only they drop with in hour near starting point.they provide food through out the journey.this and all are big business behind this ,going day time ship is 100%better.

I visited Alleppey to enjoy this house boat last week. A wonderful experience I have got while on the boat. Foods were prepared in the boat and served by the boatmen. Foods were hot and delicious. Speed boats are available there for thrilling surfing in the lake water. On the way, some shops are having milk, chicken, fish, mutton and more available. Boatmen told me, if you want to eat anything available in the on going shop, purchase on your own cost and we are ready to cook. This is apart from their giving food menu. Also icecreams are available in a small boat wandering around the lake.

Do not book houseboat through ,Kerala houseboat cosy regency Alleppey through goibibo, we came here and shocking is that although we book individual house boat and here after coming they say you have to seat in sharing boat because no individual house boat available at present and if you not seat then your money go waste as we have no option we have to take boat , they ruin our trip, food was not good. Very very bad

There are many small shops nearby selling food, ice cream, juices, and snacks, so you’ll never run out of options to munch on. The play areas and leisure spaces are also well-maintained and neatly arranged, making it a good place for families and children. However, there’s a slight fishy smell in beach areas, which can be unpleasant at times. Apart from that, the beach itself is beautiful and offers a refreshing experience overall.

Visited Alappuzha Beach in the evening. It was a very active and lively beach. The weather was beautiful and pleasant when we visited. There are many coffee shops, cake shops,and restaurants located below the pine trees, creating a great vibe. You’ll need to park along the roadside under the N.H. overbridge.It’s a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends. oilet facilities are available, but they are not very clean. 🏖️ A truly beautiful beach with a refreshing atmosphere.

This is one of the most beautiful, serene and less crowded beach I have ever visited. The water is usually quite and it might surprise you with prettiest rainbow in the middle of nowhere as well. We also did a lot of shell hunting and found beautiful sea shells. There are beautiful cafes, small food joints along with the beach. You can visit with your family, friends and your partner and can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere around the beach. Make sure to not litter and be respectful and responsible towards the beach.

The powerful and soulful Vanchippattu (boat songs) sung by the rowers created an electrifying atmosphere and gave me goosebumps. There’s also a small museum, a 3D show, and a shop selling forest products. The place is closed on Mondays, and car parking comes with an extra charge. Overall, the site feels a bit run-down and could really benefit from improvements to enhance both the visitor experience and the well-being of the animals.

I visited Konni Eco Tourism Centre recently. The place is naturally beautiful and has good potential for eco-tourism, but honestly, I felt it is not maintained as well as it should be. Some areas looked neglected, and with proper care the place could be much more attractive. Parking is available near the entrance (₹15 for two-wheelers, ₹40 for cars), which is convenient. However, the entry fee (₹80 for adults) feels a bit high compared to what is currently offered inside. For the amount they charge, visitors expect better facilities, cleaner surroundings, and more engaging activities. It is still a peaceful spot to spend some time in nature, but in my opinion, it doesn’t feel fully worth the ticket price. With better upkeep and a little more attention to detail, this centre could definitely become a top eco-tourism destination. NB: Only card or GPay is accepted at the ticket counter

My visit to Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple was a truly peaceful and blessed experience. The temple has a calm and divine atmosphere that instantly fills your mind with devotion. I visited on a weekday, and since it wasn’t crowded, I was able to pray peacefully and spend some quiet time in the temple premises. The temple is well-maintained, with beautiful traditional Kerala-style architecture and a serene ambiance. Everything is neat and clean, and the entire area gives a sense of purity and calmness. One of the main attractions here is the famous Ambalapuzha Palpayasam (sweet rice pudding), which is renowned all over Kerala for its divine taste and long-standing tradition. On normal days, each person usually receives about 1 litre of Palpayasam, but on rush days or during festivals, the quantity is reduced to 500 ml per person. If you’re planning to get the Palpayasam, it’s good to know the timing: Receipt distribution starts around 10:00 AM. Palpayasam distribution begins only at 12:30 PM. It’s best to reach early, get your receipt, and then collect the Palpayasam once distribution starts. The process is organized, but reaching early helps avoid long queues. However, during my visit, I noticed some issues in the distribution process. I waited in the queue for nearly three hours, and during that time, I observed that the distribution was not handled equally. Some people seemed to get their Palpayasam receipt easily because they knew the staff, and a few even appeared to have reserved their share by calling someone inside. This kind of favoritism and queue-skipping is disappointing to see, especially in a sacred place where everyone should be treated equally. In other temples like Guruvayur, the system is much fairer — devotees take the receipt and receive their prasadam in proper order. I truly hope the Ambalapuzha temple authorities look into this issue, as a temple should always uphold equal justice and opportunities for all devotees, regardless of connections. Overall, my visit was deeply spiritual and refreshing. The peaceful atmosphere, the beauty of the temple, and the divine Palpayasam together make it a memorable experience.

It’s definitely worth visiting. The place gives vibes similar to Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya. We didn’t get a chance to try the payasam because it was too crowded, but many people say it’s really good.

truly a beautiful spot to visit. The surroundings are calm with a cool breeze that refreshes the mind. There’s plenty of parking space, and the adult entry ticket is ₹70. It’s best to visit on normal days, as weekends and holidays can get very crowded. Private vehicles are not allowed near the falls since it’s a forest area, but the office provides shuttle buses (two are available) to take visitors from the parking area to the waterfall. The staff and security are very friendly and helpful—one security officer even helped us take pictures. There are small shops nearby for tea and snacks, and clean bathrooms are also available. Bathing at the waterfall is comparatively safe, and steps are provided to climb up for better views and photos. Payments are cashless, so only UPI or cards are accepted. Overall, it’s a well-maintained place and worth visiting. The best time to go is early in the morning. The falls open at 8 AM.

We recently visited Palaruvi Waterfalls, and it was an amazing experience! From the ticket counter, it’s about a 3 km ride to the falls, and visitors are taken there by the park’s bus service since private vehicles aren’t allowed. The waterfall offers a stunning view, and bathing in the cool, refreshing water was truly enjoyable. There are changing rooms available for women, which is very convenient. The area does have quite a few monkeys, so it’s best to keep an eye on your belongings and avoid taking food outside. The place wasn’t too crowded, making it perfect for a peaceful trip with family or friends.

Paal means milk and aruvi means waterfalls .A Refreshing experience worth the travel. This is located in Kerala and very well maintained(Unlike the several badly maintained falls in Tamilnadu). To protect our environment, Plastic Bottles and eatables are not allowed.The vehicle by which we travel has to be parked and all visitors need to travel 2 to 3 kms in the Forest department buses which is mandatory. The staff were very courteous as we waited in the queue and were making us comfortable. The view was stunning but involved climbing a path ! Can't bathe directly under the strong flow . A small area where we can take a dip in the cool, flowing waters was very refreshing !

Nice place to visit, Well maintained by the Kerala Forest Department. Friendly staff in guiding us too. Amble parking space. The transportation arranged is also good. The only drawback I saw here is the wait till me for transportation when we return back. People coming in groups keep on coming at different times and these people kept on entering in between the queues increasing the waiting times of the people already waiting there ,.especially the elder people and people with kids . I would humbly request deploying more staff on thr waiting area to avoid such situations, so as to ensure the smooth functioning of this tourist place.

One-of-a-kind place! Truly worth visiting. The Jatayu sculpture is massive and a real piece of art. However, a few improvements can make the experience much smoother: • Ticketing system needs restructuring — more ticket counters are required, and there should be a proper waiting area downstairs as well or online tickets. • AC in the waiting areas needs better cooling, especially considering the crowd and weather. • Cable car safety can be improved. It should fully stop for tourists to get in and out; stepping off while it’s moving feels unsafe. • Clear instructions should be displayed at the entrance so visitors know the rules beforehand, especially since food and water are not allowed inside. • Refreshment counters need better cooling, more options, and water dispensers. • Photos for purchase look overly edited or AI-generated; more natural edits or original prints, especially with the Jatayu structure in the background, would be much better. • Souvenirs missing — fridge magnets or Jatayu-themed items would be great additions. Overall, it’s a great experience with a lot of potential to become even better!

Jatayu Earth Center in Kerala is known for its massive sculpture of the mythical bird Jatayu, placed on a rocky hilltop. Visitors can reach the top either by cable car or by walking up the pathway. The hilltop area can get quite hot during sunny hours, so carrying an umbrella or cap is advisable. At the top, there is a small water area and a shop for basic refreshments. A temple is also located near the sculpture, adding a peaceful touch to the visit. The viewpoint offers good spots for photography, making it suitable for families, friends, and solo travelers. Overall, it is a place where visitors can comfortably spend time exploring the sculpture, views, and surroundings.

It is maintained by a non government organisation/ private organisation. Well maintained property. Beautiful scenic surroundings view. Plastic Water bottles and eatables are not allowed. Free water is available everywhere. Amount paid 555₹ per person including entry ticket and cable car ticket. Second option of 325₹ was available for who wish to climb 826 steps almost 1km elevation. Please note that full ticket is applicable for people with more than 90 cm height including children. They take your photo at start which is available at 260₹ per copy or 210₹ for multiple soft copies at 1st floor. 1st floor has some small food counters along with children play area. Jatayu sculpture is beautiful with in detailed carvings. Small Lord Rama temple is situated upstairs. Devotees can see the foot step of Lord Rama backside of this temple. Overall fantastic experience.

Worth visiting the place when you are in trivandrum, Varkala or Kollam. The opening time is as mentioned on the site, it's exactly at 10AM. The ticketing system could have been little hassle free. They have one ticketing window at the ground level, this makes the process way slow. And also I don't find a reason of having another ticketing window at upper level to decide cable car or walking track. Most of the time I feel the cable car may not operate because of heavy wind in the area, so keep in mind. However I felt it was blessing in disguise to get our cable car got cancelled because of harsh weather and we could take a nice walk among the nature, it's just a km of climb. The management has arranged all necessary facilities like drinking water and toilets in all levels. The ticketing from online is fraud, there is a strict warning at the entrance to avoid online ticketing. The management does not allow any big bag, plastic items including water bottle and sanitizer but at the 1st floor they sell all plastic items which is contradicting to their policy.

I had an amazing time visiting Jatayu Earth Centre. The entire experience felt so well crafted especially the background music inspired by Indian history. It was incredibly soothing to the ears and added a beautiful depth to the whole ambience. During my visit, the museum was closed, possibly due to ongoing construction work, so I couldn’t explore that part. But the view from the Jatayu rock more than made up for it absolutely stunning and worth the climb. Overall, it’s a place everyone should visit at least once in their life. Truly a memorable experience

One of the oldest lighthouses in Kerala, it holds history from the time of the British East India Company. Both an elevator and stairs are available to reach the top. The view from the top is worth the journey and ticket amount of 20rs.😀

Worth a stop on the way up north to Alappuzha for only 20rpi. Worth noting there is a ticket office for the fun park , so make sure you go up the road to the actual light house entry gate. Founded in 1902 this is one of two lighthouses in the Kollam area. After to begin showing cracking in 1930, this lighthouse was strengthened by A.N Seal in 1940. This 120+ year old light house will provide stunning views over Kollam and the Indian Ocean

A Historic place in kollam. Well maintained renovated lighthouse. Evening view is mesmerizing. They are charging an entry fee of र20 for adults, र10 for children(3-12) and senior citizens and र50 for foreign citizens. There is an extra fee of र10 for taking photos.You have to keep the footwear outside before entering the lighthouse. Monday is a holiday. There is a children's park in the compound And a small refreshment shop there. Unofficial parking fee is too high that's collected by a lady whose home is near to the lighthouse.

What a beautiful light house it is, with a lift inside to make our effort of walk easy to reach the top. Beautiful view of the whole thamarassery area and kollam. 20rs is the admission fee for one person and 10 extra for using the camera. 10min is allowed maximum if there is rush to spend on the top. Otherwise 10-15 is maximum allowed. Try to take the stairs instead of lift, if you want to burn some calories😜

Awesome views from the top and yes there is an elevator so we has to climb only a few stairs ! The sunset view would be spectacular but it closes at 6 pm .However the walking path also gives a great view .

LOVE THE PLACE. I love visiting this place every now and then—the whole place issa vibe. Everything you need is on the cliff, from food to clothes to antiques, you name it. I bought a bunch of antique stuff on my last visit. There are honestly so many shops selling antiques, jewellery, clothes, and all kinds of random things. But here’s a tip: don’t jump at the first price they tell you. You can usually bargain and get things for a much better deal. Also, the same item might be in a bunch of different shops, so take a walk around before buying anything. There are so many—literally so many—cafés and restaurants up there. But don’t just go with the Instagram hype. Do a bit of research or explore on your own, because there are a lot of great spots apart from the usual “Instagram-approved” places. A coffee while taking in a glimpse of the beach, or sipping a cocktail with the sea view, is a must if you ask me. The views from the cliff are just stunning, especially during sunset when the sky goes crazy with colours. It does get crowded in the eve. People chilling, music playing from cafés, and the sea breeze it all feels perfect. If you’re in Varkala, the cliff is definitely a must-visit.

Certainly one of the best beach, having a great cliff connecting through another beach and having all restaurants/cafés and shops over the cliff. Must recommend the morning walk through the cliff and have a great sight during sunrise. For party ppl Evening time is great fun.

It is a beautiful beach. It has got peace and calm ambience. Where you can sit peacefully, and you can listen, the sounds of the waves. moreover, you will be having less crowd and compatible with Cherai and Cochin Beach. I have been there along with my family enjoyed a lot that too during night time it was very pleasant to hear the song. It is one of the decent features I have ever seen.

The Varkala Beach does not allow people to bathe in the water. The beach is always crowded but it very closely to the stays. The beach is in walking distance of 3 to 5 KM only. It is the most unique Beaches in Southern part of India. The views from cliff is Stunning. It is well known for its lively atmosphere with many cafes and restaurants along the cliff, catering to visitors. After sunset, it's possible to witness bioluminescence, an aquamarine glow in the water, making for a magical experience. Swimming is not always not safe due to strong currents, so visitors are advised to be cautious and not allowed during season time. It's Good place to relax and unwind. But the food is costly and I don't highly recommend.

Varkala Beach is quite overrated and usually very crowded. Most of the time, access to the beach was restricted, so we could only watch the sunset. However, the sunset view itself is truly mesmerizing. The beach is easily accessible, with plenty of buses running on this route from the railway station. There are also several nearby beaches that are less crowded and have fresher water.

I recently visited this temple and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere here is truly special there’s a peaceful, spiritual vibe that makes you feel instantly calm and welcome. The temple is impressively neat and clean, with well maintained surroundings that add to the sense of serenity. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and always ready to help or guide visitors, which made my visit even more pleasant. The temple’s architecture and overall ambiance beautifully reflect its ancient heritage, giving you a sense of connection to history and tradition. Overall, it’s a fantastic place for anyone seeking tranquility and a touch of spiritual energy. Highly recommended for both devotees and tourists alike!

One of the divine and nearest temple in varkala. Also 2000years old. At the temple entrance, small pond is available. The water is refreshing, & even spotted a little turtle. The temple was neat, clean, and maintained with care. While it looked like many other traditional temples as well. It was quite hot during my visit, For Gents - The shirts and inner baniyan to be removed due to temple customs. The god looked unique from others. It was an pleasant moment but it stayed out for more than half an hour because of prasadham offering for the god.

A peaceful and spiritual place with centuries of history. The architecture is traditional and well-maintained. The temple is located on a hilltop, offering a serene atmosphere and beautiful views. It’s very calm inside, and devotees come here to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu.

Incredible ❤️😍. So different from other temples and so beautiful. A must visit of Varkala. Some of highlights - - Vishnu Ji Murti is so beautiful and different - the number of diyas lit in the evening are just amazing - and to top it up there is Gajraj ji (elephant) in the temple complex 😍. Few tips - Try to go in night around 6:30 as diyas are lit that time , you can also help in that - In Mandir main compex you have to remove the shirt /tshirt

We recently visited this temple and had a very peaceful experience. There’s also a pond near the temple, which adds to the calm and serene atmosphere. One important thing to note is that boys need to remove their shirts during darshan, as it’s a mandatory tradition here.

Before entering the temple, I spent a few quiet moments at the temple pond right in front of the entrance. NO STARS! Although the temple space is beautiful I could not enjoy it because I could not get over the animal torture that is going on here! They are holding an innocent elephant captive! She is 52 years old and suffering. 😭😭

Santhigiri Ashram is a spiritual center and pilgrimage site, located in Pothencode, Thiruvananthapuram. The ashram is well known for its architectural beauty of white marbles. It is very calm and quiet around there and has a beautiful view because of the white marbles. The ashram is a temple built by the followers of Karunakara Guru. This is a spiritual ashram.

An interesting exercise for people interested in spirituality and history of the keralite spiritual movement. Feel free to ask around. You will find men committed to the cause spread by the philosophy and they are happy to answer your questions but within the confines and interpretation of their philosophy. Note: Make sure to visit the photographs in the entry wall to get an interesting glimpse of our gone time.

I've visited Santhigiri Ashram multiple times, and each time I'm struck by its serene atmosphere. The majestic lotus is a symbol of tranquility, evoking positive emotions. During my recent visit for the Santhigiri Festival, the rain added a refreshing touch, but unfortunately, it limited my exploration. The rides were relatively empty, making for a peaceful experience. Regrettably, technical issues due to the rain prevented me from exploring Nakshathra Vanam. However, the exhibition was outstanding! One suggestion: enlarging the nameboards at the animal and bird exhibition would enhance readability. Overall, Santhigiri Ashram offers a wonderful experience. I look forward to future visits.

This review is not about the asram, but the Santhigiri fest 2024. There is only some photo points totally. Not worth for its entry fee. You may like the lights if you visit in the evenings. Otherwise its a total money waste

Surely not my cup of tea, visited as part of the Carnival. But yeah the infrastructure definitely deserves applause. But it's too small for a long drive all the way there.
