Ancient Shri Kethapai Narayana Temple

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Tucked away in the charming, historical town of Bhatkal, Karnataka, the Shree Ketapai Narayana Temple is an absolute treasure! This ancient temple stands as a living, breathing monument to the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the region. Stepping into this temple feels like being transported back in time—a fusion of Vijayanagara and Dravidian architecture welcomes you, with every mural, pillar, and corner telling stories of devotion, artistry, and history. The gopuram rises tall, and the colorful murals inside are simply breathtaking! The intricate carvings on the pillars aren't just decoration—they’re tales of Krishna’s playful mischief and Ramayana’s legendary battles etched into stone. It’s like the walls are alive, whispering ancient stories to anyone who pauses to listen. What really struck me during my visit was how peaceful and meditative the surroundings are. There’s an unmissable sense of sacredness that fills the air, leaving you reflective and inspired. Despite its significance, this historical marvel remains a well-kept secret, not nearly as popular as it should be—but that’s what makes it all the more special! If you're in Bhatkal, don’t miss the chance to explore this timeless beauty. Whether you're a history buff, an art lover, or just someone seeking a peaceful retreat, this temple has something magical to offer. Shree Ketapai Narayana Temple is not just a place—it’s an experience.

Must visit ancient temple in Bhatkal region. Clean and Well maintained. Contains rich history rani chennabhairadevi's contriburion to the region.
Sandeep P — Google review
Small temple with quick 10-15 tour. Well preserved and clean. One of 6 in the small area dating back to 1500 CE when Bhatkal was Vijaynagar empire's main port trading with persian gulf and beyond. Khetapai, one of the diamond business trader is believed to be amongst the many businessmen who donated to make these temples. Worth a quick stop, and only 100mt off the NH66. We happened to have the pujari around and he was very kind to explain the story of the stone art - of various gods, mahabharata and Krishna Leela.

I’ve never felt so welcome in a dive center as with these guys! They are truly amazing and responsible instructors, who take care of you. And for me as an experienced diver they made sure i got the best diving experience Netrani has to offer! I must recommend them to anyone who want to learn diving or want to do a fun dive in great company. See you soon guys! Can’t wait to find more turtles, sharks, cuddlefish and nudi’s!!! 🤩

Another 3 great days of diving with these amazing guys! Thanks Jason and Luis for truly being the best and for making sure every customer gets the best diving experience for their experience / certification level! Can’t wait to be back and do some more 90minute dives. See you soon!

The west coast team is very professional and we had a good time scuba diving at netrani Island. Keith and brain were very helpful. The underwater scuba pics were provided within a day. Definitely recommend them for scuba .
Glenn P — Google review
The dive center is THE BEST amongst the ones I have visited so far. You must be wondering this what everyone says for every dive centre but here are the reasons why this one is unique and the best. 1. The staff welcomes you and make one feel at home. This in turn helps in making connections outside of diving and not just going on dives. 2. There are many dive sites around Netrani and it takes one a lot of dives around that area to know the ins and outs of the place. Instructors are really enthusiastic about giving guest the best dive experience possible under water. 3. From my experience you’d enjoy the dive if you feel taken care of (also learn neat tricks and tips from experienced divers to improve yourself). The instructors are really accommodating for one’s needs whether I was doing a course or just a fun dive I never felt left out and felt really safe for myself and all the dive buddies diving in the group. I would highly recommend staying for a weekend or more and experience the best nethrani (the best site accessible from mainland India) has to offer with West Coast adventures. P.S. a lot of fake reviews are there as I have seen you can definitely ignore them.
Rishabh B — Google review
Scuba can't get any better than this in India. Professional, certified and experienced dive-masters take you to the depth of the waters surrounding Netrani island 20kms of the coast of Murudeshwar to witness the most exotic underwater life. The team is very sensitive towards the delicate ecology and make sure to preserve it. Apart from being very well organised, the crew is a treat and make sure the whole trip is a memorable one. The dive-masters make sure that they make dive a successful one, even for those who don't swim or are phobic. Equipment and safety are of the highest standards. 5 additional stars for the crew. Keep up the great job West Coast.

The Murudeshwara Beach, although slightly crowded, offers a stunning view that is especially delightful in the evening. The setting sun and cool breeze enhance the beauty of this beach, making it an ideal time to visit. Everyone should experience this beach at least once as it holds universal appeal. The beach is truly magnificent with a nearby temple adding to its charm.
Superb family beach. Clear water with fishes, crabs and sea shells. Very gentle slope. Fantastic for a dip. Relatively clean. Awesome views of the Shiva statue

Rajdev R — Google review
Murdeshwar is a town in Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India. It is famous for the world's second tallest Shiva statue, the town lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwara Temple. Surrounded by gentle hills and lush green foliage, this beach is always bustling with activity. Early morning hours the best time to visit this place, when you might even find the company of flying seagulls and kingfisher birds. A lot of water sports activities are also available here.
Sudarshan M — Google review
The Murudeshwar Temple Beach presents a truly stunning vista, with the immense Shiva statue and the grand gopuram serving as its captivating highlights. While the sandy expanse of the beach is remarkably clean, the large number of street vendors unfortunately results in subpar dust control. This makes walking barefoot uncomfortable and unsafe, as you'll encounter various debris like plastic covers and twigs. The beach is particularly scenic during the evening and morning hours. However, a word of caution: scorpions are known to be present on the shores in the mornings.
Soundar K — Google review

Jog Falls

Waterfalls
Jog Falls, India's second highest waterfall, is a stunning sight that varies from a gentle flow to a powerful cascade during the monsoon season. Although undergoing redevelopment, it remains a delight for the eyes. Due to construction work, access to the bottom of the falls is closed, and parking space is limited. The water source is a reservoir, and during heavy rain, gates are opened to increase water flow. Boat rides are available on the reservoir.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Visited Jog Falls — one of the most stunning natural wonders in Karnataka! The view of the waterfalls cascading down from such a great height is absolutely mesmerizing, especially when there’s good water flow. The mist, the sound of the falls, and the surrounding greenery make it a truly refreshing experience. There are multiple viewpoints to enjoy the beauty from different angles, and the area is well-maintained with decent parking and basic facilities. Best time to visit is right after the monsoon when the falls are at their full glory. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and photographers! 🌿💦
Rahul C — Google review
One of the most beautiful spots I’ve seen in India. The place is nice , calm, cool and soothing. Excellent place to click photographs. Sufficient parking space is available. Tickets are around Rs. 20 per person. Looks like they are planning many new attractions here, as there’s plenty of construction going on. Best time to visit would be when they open the nearby dam, and the waterfall is in full flow.
Alan F — Google review
I visited during dasara holidays and it was not very crowded, which made the experience peaceful and enjoyable. The falls looked beautiful and the weather was pleasant. There are some construction works going on near the view points and entrance, but it didn't affect the overall experience much. A great place to enjoy nature and relax.
Ramesh B — Google review
Jog Falls is a stunning destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts visiting Karnataka. As one of India’s tallest waterfalls, it plunges a remarkable 253 meters, especially dramatic during the monsoon season. Jog Falls, Karnataka-Jog Falls is the second-highest plunge waterfall in India, located on the Sharavathi River in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. The monsoon season (June to September) offers the most dramatic views, with the falls being at their full force. Enjoy the view from designated viewpoints Visit the Mahatma Gandhi Hydro Electric plant Explore the surrounding dense, evergreen forests Go during the monsoon season to see rainbows in the mist. A sightseeing tour offers visitors the chance to experience the majestic waterfall framed by lush green landscapes. Beyond being a peaceful escape, it's an ideal location for nature walks and photography. The tour package for Jog Falls also includes nearby viewpoints, perfect for a weekend getaway or a week-long vacation from cities like Bangalore. For photography enthusiasts, capturing the falls from various angles is a must, as the views provide stunning landscape shots at every turn. The area around Jog Falls can be slippery, so it is advisable to wear comfortable and sturdy footwear. It is also important to carry rain gear, as it can rain unexpectedly in the area. Jog Falls is surrounded by lush green forests and beautiful landscapes. If you have time, you must explore the surrounding areas and take in the natural beauty of the region. The main viewpoint is located on the opposite side of the waterfall and offers a panoramic view of the falls.
NK M — Google review
The sheer volume of water cascading down the rocks is breathtaking and the multiple segmented streams create an awe-inspiring view, especially during peak monsoon. The surrounding lush greenery adds to the serenity and beauty of the location. It's an unforgettable experience and a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers. Definitely a highlight of any trip to Karnataka.
Gokul P — Google review
Entry fees is 20 rupees. The experience is of a lifetime. We went during Monsoon on July’25. We were thrilled to see the sceneric beauty. It feels like milk is gushing down from the waterfalls more than water. India’s biggest waterfall is absolutely an eye soother. The ghat roads leading to jog falls, the Shimoga district, the road exiting Shimoga and going towards kumta all are satisfying. ❤️🧿❤️
The C — Google review
Jog Falls 🌊✨ Standing before the mighty Jog Falls felt like standing before nature’s heartbeat — powerful, calm, and endlessly beautiful. The mist kissed my face, the roar echoed through my chest, and for a while, everything else just faded away. 🌿💧 Even though the place is under construction, there’s something special about watching it evolve — a promise that soon, this wonder will shine brighter than ever. Change is happening, but the soul of Jog Falls remains the same — pure, majestic, and unforgettable. ❤️
Vishakh I — Google review
There is lot of construction work happening around so plan accordingly to visit Be careful about the touts around would cheat you by saying many things and take money from you. Just visit inside by paying ticket and watch that’s the best way. Road is also not good due to work happening around Right now water is there so you can watch the falls but after few days this will also stop as rain season has ended for the year To watch water in full best time to visit is July and August

Unchalli Waterfalls

Mentioned on

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the Western Ghats near Siddapur, Karnataka, Unchalli Waterfalls is a stunning natural wonder that boasts a 116-meter cascade surrounded by lush greenery. The best time to visit is during the monsoon when the falls put on a thunderous display of nature's grandeur. Adventurous visitors can trek to the base for an immersive experience, though it requires descending around 200 steps after a 500-meter forest walk.
Amazing view from the top, its truly mesmerizing. Never too crowded. We need to walk a little bit to reach near the waterfalls viewpoint. Some amount of fitness level is needed, it will be difficult for senior citizens.
Sachin M — Google review
Unchalli Waterfall is absolutely breathtaking! The view of the water cascading down from such a great height into the lush green valley is mesmerizing. The trek to the viewpoint is scenic and surrounded by dense forest, making the whole experience adventurous and refreshing. There are well-constructed viewpoints to enjoy the falls safely, and the sound of rushing water is truly magical. Best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon when the waterfall is in full flow. Highly recommended for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts! The sight of the water gushing down amidst the dense greenery is absolutely mesmerizing, and the sound of the falls feels so peaceful yet powerful. The short trek to the viewpoints is enjoyable, surrounded by forest and fresh air, and the views from the top are worth every step. Visiting just after the monsoon makes the experience even better, as the waterfall is at its fullest. It’s a perfect spot for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone looking for a calm escape into nature.
Shivkumar K — Google review
Awesome forest in middle of deep forest, great grandeur to watch and enjoy, not much crowd, need to walk around 500 mtrs from car parking, but fully worth it, totally Awesome, must watch mainly in July to Nov season
Be S — Google review
You will appreciate your hard work to reach this waterfall when you watch this amazing waterfall
Amar R — Google review
Awesome Falls near Nilkund Village Plan your visit after October, once the monsoon ends. During the monsoon season, it gets very foggy and you may not be able to see the waterfall clearly — the view appears for only a few seconds every 10 minutes or so, so you’ll need to wait patiently. The waterfall is about a 700-meter trek from the parking area. It’s formed by the Aghanashini River and offers an amazing view. To get the best view of the falls, you’ll need to climb down around 90–100 steps
Gajanana H — Google review
Had an amazing experience visiting this place with my family during the month of December 2024.We reached in the morning around 11:30 am and had to walk a bit to reach the visiting points. This place can be improved a lot.If you would like to see a beautiful waterfall with less crowd, then this is a must visit place.

Visited Serene Falls during the monsoon season, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience! The waterfall was in full force, cascading with incredible power and creating a stunning display of nature’s beauty. The surrounding landscape was lush and vibrant, with the rain adding a mystical touch to the scenery. The sound of the roaring water combined with the fresh, earthy smell of the forest made for an unforgettable visit. Highly recommend visiting Serene Falls in the monsoon for a truly magical experience!

Had lot of fun with friends, done tracking on mountain leads to multiple beaches, had good experience near beaches, played volleyball and other games and at the end relaxing view of beautiful Sunset. It was like mini Goa with less crowd. I went in February during Valentine.

A Peaceful Slice of Paradise – OM Beach, Gokarna 🌊✨ We recently visited Om Beach, and it was such an amazing experience! The beach truly lives up to the hype — peaceful, scenic, and shaped beautifully like the sacred “Om” symbol. The vibe here is calm yet vibrant, making it a perfect mix for both relaxation and fun. We started our day with a small trek along the cliffs that connect Om Beach to nearby beaches — the views from the top were absolutely stunning! You can spot movie-like scenery all around. Later, we just chilled by the shore, played some beach games like volleyball and frisbee, and ended the day watching a breathtaking sunset over the Arabian Sea — easily one of the best sunsets I’ve seen. 🌅 The beach is clean and less crowded, with a few small shops and shacks offering snacks, lemon soda, and local food. The whole area feels like a mini Goa but quieter, making it great for those who prefer a more peaceful atmosphere. A few quick tips: • No water sports here, so it’s more about peace than thrill. • Trekking shoes or slippers with grip help if you explore nearby spots. • Visit during early morning or evening for the best light and fewer people. Om Beach is not just another beach — it’s a place to soak in nature, unwind with friends, and reconnect with yourself. Whether you want to trek, chill, or just watch the sun melt into the sea, this place will leave you refreshed and smiling. 💙

A wonderful beach for families to enjoy some fun times here. The entrance has a bit of stairs to walk down which can be cumbersome when exiting when you have to climb those same stairs, especially with the sun shining. All in all a beautiful beach. Do visit to experience it yourself.

The most lively beach in Gokarna. The boating from there was top notch. Also the walk to the end of beach along with slight drizzle was amazing. Highly recommended.
Ambarish N — Google review
It is probably the best beach in Gokarna. There are 5-6 total beaches there which can be accessed both through the roads or hiking the hills. Have been to this place twice and it feels really good to be there. Car parking is an issue there as the number of visitors are gradually increasing in Gokarna. Do visit Mahabaleshwar temple whenever you go there.

It is such a beautiful stretch that sets the tone before you even reach the beach. The road is lined with greenery on both sides, with small cafes and local shops adding a cozy vibe. Gokarna Beach is a serene and scenic destination, perfect for those who love peace and natural beauty. The golden sand, clear waves, and laid-back atmosphere make it an ideal escape from the rush of city life. Unlike crowded tourist spots, it has a calm charm where you can simply relax, take long walks, or enjoy the sunset. A must-visit for beach lovers seeking tranquility.”

If you want to enjoy bathing in sea water, this will be the best option in India, even better than Goa and Puri sea beach. water is very clear and not so deep ideal for people of all age. For only sight seeing, better go to Om beach. But water will be dirty there.

Gokarna Main Beach is a peaceful and beautiful spot, especially in the mornings when it’s not crowded. The water is clean and the weather pleasant, making it a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Perfect for those looking for a quiet beach experience with good vibes and fewer tourists.
Hemanth R — Google review
1) Long beach where you find some crowd. 2) Though the beach is not super clean, it is well maintained as per my opinion. 3) One can see 4 to 5 waves coming up one on another at this beach in morning hours. 4) Ample 4 wheeler parking is available. But still you may find difficulty in finding place to park your vehicle. 5) Approach roads are very narrow and you may have to drive through thousands of people walking on these narrow roads.

It was a beautiful beach yes. But out of the 3 beaches I visited (Om, Kudle and Main) I will prefer the other two over this. We started the trek towards Kudle beach from here.

It is a very clean & long beach. There is a little crowd at the entry point however if one ventures further in, the beach is peaceful and secluded. The trafic is also well managed by the local Police.

We visited on weekend. This place was not crowded at that time in Oct end. We did trek in the beach but don’t do trekking in the evening after 5 pm because at that time waves are so high. And u cannot go from one beach to another by trekking.

Sacred & Religious Sites
Shri Mahabaleshwara Swamy Temple in Gokarna is a grand Hindu temple complex with multiple shrines and a central tower. Built of granite by Mayurasharma of the Kadamba dynasty in the 4th century, it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Pilgrims believe that even catching a glimpse of the temple brings blessings, and rituals are performed for the deceased.
I recently visited the Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna, and it was a deeply spiritual and soul-touching experience. This temple is not only a place of worship but also a site of immense historical and cultural significance. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is considered as sacred as Kashi, and many devotees call it the “Dakshin Kashi”. 🛕 Spiritual Significance & History: The temple has a rich and ancient history, believed to be over 1,500 years old. It is famous for housing the Atma Linga, which, according to legend, was given to Ravana by Lord Shiva. The story and faith associated with this temple make it one of the most important pilgrimage sites in South India. The intricate stone carvings and the timeless architecture reflect its heritage beautifully. ✨ Darshan Experience: Darshan here feels very divine and powerful. The temple priests are well-organized, and even though there are usually crowds of devotees, the queue system is managed well. Standing inside the sanctum and having a glimpse of Lord Shiva’s Atma Linga is truly an unforgettable and spiritual moment. 🌿 Temple Atmosphere & Surroundings: The temple is located close to the beautiful Gokarna beach, which adds to its peaceful atmosphere. The surrounding lanes are filled with small shops selling flowers, prasad, and traditional items. The entire town has a very spiritual and traditional feel, making the visit even more memorable. 📍 Facilities & Accessibility: The temple is well-maintained, and cleanliness is given attention. Basic facilities like drinking water and footwear stands are available. It is easily accessible from the main town, and the local people are very helpful and welcoming. 🙏 Overall: The Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna is not just a temple but an experience of devotion, history, and culture. If you are visiting Gokarna, this place is a must-visit for spiritual seekers as well as those interested in India’s rich ancient heritage. Attending aarti or visiting during festivals makes the experience even more divine.

I recently visited the Gokarna Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple, and it was a deeply spiritual and memorable experience. This ancient temple, located right along the coastline of the Arabian Sea, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered one of the holiest places in South India. The temple houses the Atmalinga, which is believed to be as powerful and sacred as the one in Kashi, earning Gokarna the name “Dakshina Kashi.” The temple architecture is classic south indian style, with beautifully carved stone pillars and a traditional layout that radiates divine energy. The darshan queue is generally smooth, though it can get busy during weekends and festivals. Regular darshan is free, and special poojas or Abhishekas can be booked at the temple office for a nominal fee. - Dress code: Traditional attire is compulsory. men should remove shirt and banyan and wear a dhoti or pancha, and women are expected to wear sarees or salwar suits. - Timings: Usually from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. - Anna Prasada is offered during specific hours near temple. - Shops outside sell pooja items, prasadam, and souvenirs. - Ample parking space is available at Gokarna main beach which is walkable distance from temple. - People generally do the punya snana near beach and visit the temple. - Nearby restaurants and lodges make it convenient for visitors. Overall, Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple offers a divine and peaceful atmosphere, a must visit for anyone seeking spiritual connection and inner calm by the sea.

We went to this temple on the Sep 28th 2025. Since it was a weekend it was crowded and there was heavy downpour. The roof needs a renovation and most of the devotees were drenched. Once you are inside, the roofing is good and barely any water is seen leaking. They have a strict dressing policy, please ensure to adhere to it. The queues can stretch long but it's a moving crowd and we got darshan in about 30-40mins. The roads leading to and away from the temple are very narrow, so plan your conveyance accordingly. There are several shops in and around the temple. In monsoon it's best you carry a raincoat(u can get this nearby shop for about 100). Umbrella's won't help you a bit during this season. This temple is a must visit if you are gokarna. Recommended.

I recently visited the temple during dasara and had a great spiritual experience. I was able to do sparsha darshan in the morning, which was very special and peaceful. Though it was a festival weekend, the early morning hours were relatively calm and well managed. The temple atmosphere is divine and the ancient architecture adds to its spiritual charm.

This is the one of the oldest temple in Gokarna. The one and only temple where shiva Aamtlinga present.Dhoti is compulsory while visiting the temple. Everyone is allowed to touch the Aamtlinga.Behind this temple there mahaganapti temple where ganpati idol having bump in head due to Ravana hit ganapati as he put the aamtlinga on the earth.Nice temple.

1. Mahabaleshwar Temple, Gokarna • The most famous temple in Gokarna. • Dedicated to Lord Shiva (Atma Linga). • The temple is over 1,500 years old and built in classical Dravidian style. • Believed to be one of the seven sacred Muktisthala temples in India. • A major pilgrimage spot — devotees come here for blessings of the Atma Linga. • Dress modestly; sometimes men are expected to remove shirts while entering the sanctum. 2. Maha Ganapati Temple, Gokarna • Located right beside/near Mahabaleshwar Temple. • Dedicated to Lord Ganesha. • It is believed that Ganesha installed the Atma Linga here by tricking Ravana. • Devotees usually visit this temple first before entering Mahabaleshwar Temple. • Small but spiritually powerful; the idol of Ganesha is ancient and beautifully carved.

A must visit place if you are in Gokarna. Can drive to the location by your own vehicle or can rent it from gokarna (1 Hour drive). We visited in monsoon the place is fabulous. A small temple and the big cave that's the visit target here. 20 to 30 min of walk from parking to cave entrance. The walk is not easy so you must wear sports shoes. Ticket to buy at the gate of the cave and have to remove your shoes as not allowed. Must keep cash with you and download an offline map in google so if you drive to the location, otherwise you will lost as no network and all signs to reach there are not in english they are in local language. - June 2025

A place where you don't get a mobile network but it is worth visiting. The rocks were amazing. You will love driving here, make sure your car is powerful. There are some nominal entry fees. You won't get food here so carry your own. You can enjoy it outside.

Surreal experience! It’s truly a must-visit place. The caves are mesmerizing, and the route that takes you there is calming and scenic. The Shiva temple is swayambhu, and the walk from the caves is actually a parikrama to the temple. Droplets of water naturally cascade from the rocks onto the Shivling, making it a one-of-a-kind experience. The light filtering through the rock formations in the caves creates a dramatic and cinematic effect.

The legend of Yana Caves in Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, is deeply intertwined with the story of Bhasmasura and Mohini. Yana is famous for these two massive rock outcrops known as the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the Mohini Shikhara Yana is also well known as a pilgrimage center because of the cave temple below the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara where a Swayambhu ("self-manifested", or "that which is created by its own accord") linga has been formed. Water drips from the roof over the Linga, adding to the sanctity of the place. Yana Rocks made up of limestone . It is near to Sirsi Kumata highway. Vehicle not going near to Rock.. A single lane road was constructed in the thick forest which reduces the trek-length 1.0 kilometres .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Peaceful and Photogenic Place – Must Visit! Yana Caves is a very beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by lush greenery. The temple adds a divine charm to this natural wonder. It’s also a very popular and photogenic destination — perfect for nature lovers and photographers. Tips for visitors: Try to visit in the morning in summer , as you need to trek around 500 meters from parking. The return trail is uphill, which can be tiring for elders and children, especially in hot weather. Washrooms are located at the base and a bit far from the temple, so plan accordingly. Drones are not allowed here, so avoid carrying one. Overall, a wonderful and serene experience — definitely a must-visit spot near Gokarna!

Vibhuthi Falls is a stunning multi-level waterfall located in the Ankola taluk of Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district. The name "Vibhuthi" comes from the limestone rocks near Yana, through which the water flows. Surrounded by lush greenery, this remote natural wonder offers a mesmerizing sight of cascading water and creates a tranquil atmosphere.
Beautiful waterfall and a must visit if you are in Gokarna, the distance is 45 kms from Gokarna and the travel time is 1 hour 10 mins, in that 45kms journey around 10kms road is very bad and bumpy, government should act quickly and repair the roads so that more tourists will travel. After parking the vehicle to reach the falls, we need to walk around 600 meters and the path is not great but we'll find some scenic views of the mountains. Overall we had a great experience except the bumpy road.

Beautiful and Serene Vibhuti Falls is a stunning spot surrounded by lush greenery, offering a peaceful escape into nature. The short walk from the entrance is easy and rewarding with breathtaking views. Entry Fee The entrance fee is affordable—₹20 for adults and ₹10 for children—making it a budget-friendly destination. Road and Fuel Tips The roads leading to the falls are in poor condition, so drive cautiously. If you’re traveling from Gokarna, fill up your tank beforehand as there are no fuel pumps nearby. Quick Tips • Wear comfortable shoes for the short walk. • Changing rooms are available • Visit during or after the monsoon for the best views. Final Note Despite minor inconveniences, Vibhuti Falls is worth visiting for its natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. A must-see for nature lovers!

Vibhuti Falls is a scenic waterfall near Gokarna known for its serene natural beauty and peaceful surroundings. It offers a tranquil spot for visitors looking to escape the busy beaches and temples of the area. The falls are relatively less crowded, making it ideal for nature lovers and solitude seekers. However, the 3-star rating reflects some limitations: the access trail can be a bit challenging and not well maintained, which might make the hike difficult for some visitors. Facilities near the falls are minimal, with limited amenities such as food stalls or seating areas. The overall infrastructure around the falls could be improved for a better visitor experience. Nonetheless, it remains a charming spot for those who enjoy nature and trekking.

Sights & Landmarks
Shri Marikamba Temple in Sirsi is an ancient Hindu temple renowned for its stunning Kaavi murals. Erected in 1688, it reveres the goddess Durga and draws an enormous crowd of devotees during its biennial fair held in March. The fair is one of Karnataka's most significant events. The temple is open from 6 am to 9 pm daily, with Tuesdays and Fridays being ideal times to visit.
Beautiful and sacred site offering darshan of Shree Marikamba Devi. The temple premises is well maintained and we get a chance to visit the main sanctum sanctorum and visit devi from up close and give our offerings. Calm and peaceful temple premises 🙏🏻
Sachin R — Google review
The temple was built in 1689, making it one of the oldest Shakti temples in Karnataka. Dedicated to Marikamba Devi, a fierce form of Goddess Durga, she is revered as the “elder sister” (Doddamma) of all Marikamba goddesses across Karnataka. I visited it on a Thursday morning of September at around 7:30 am as I was returning from Jog falls and it was supercool as there was no crowd and I could do Darshan straight. You must visit this if you are around this place. The temple features rare Kaavi murals—an extinct art form of coastal Karnataka involving red-pigmented plaster over a white base, engraved to reveal intricate designs. Inside, a central courtyard surrounded by cloisters displays images of deities from Hindu epics. Shri Marikamba Devi was installed in 1689 A.D. Sirsi was then a tiny village. The deity which is said to have been found in a local tank was installed here through the efforts of the Nandikeshwarmath Swamiji with the consent of Sadashiva Raya II of Sonda Dynasty, a sub-Kingdom under the famous Vijayanagar Empire. Since then Shri “Devi” has become the popular ‘Grama Devata’. Till recently the administration of the temple was looked after by the elders of the town. But from 1955 A.D. the temple is being administrated by the BOARD OF TRUSTEES comprising of 5 members. The trustees are nominated by the District Judge once in five years. Shri Marikamba is the Mother Divine like Kali of Bengal, Ambaji of Rajasthan and Ambabhavani of Maharashtra. She is Mother in love. She subdues the wicked and protects the Virtuous. It is a fact that all the wishes of her devotees are fulfilled only by their prayers. The annual Chief festivals are ‘Jayanti’, ‘Navaratri’ and ‘Kartheeka’ Illuminations, and bi-annual car festival. The temple is beehive of religious, social, educational and cultural activities. 20 Kindergarten Schools in the town area are being run by Temple. The temple is open Tuesday, Friday from 7.00 A.M. to 10.00 P.M. & other days from 7 A.M. to 9 P.M. for various sevas.

Sirsi Marikamba Temple is a Hindu temple located in Sirsi town of Karnataka, India. It is one of the prominent temples in Karnataka, Also known as Doddamma Temple, Marikamba Temple is dedicated to the goddess Durga, who is also called Renuka and Yellamma. It is one of the popular places to visit in Sirsi. The temple was built in the year 1688, and it is one of the important seats of shakti worship in Karnataka. The temple is highly regarded by devotees not just all over Karnataka but also in the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. People of Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts consider Goddess Marikamba as their family deity as they believe that Devi will destroy all evil forces and protect them from natural disasters. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has the central image of goddess Durga in the fierce form with eight arms mounted on a tiger. Legend has it that this 7-foot-tall image was discovered in a pond near Hangal. In 1611, Sadashiva Rao II, the King of Sonda, gave orders to install the wooden deity at this place. The architecture of this temple is splendid making it a must-visit place. Marikamba Temple is decorated with Kavi art on both sides of its walls. Close to the Marikamba temple are the temples dedicated to Maha Ganapati

Sahasralinga is a Hindu temple located near Sirsi, known for its intricate carvings of Nandi bulls and hundreds of Shiva Lingas. The site serves as a pilgrimage destination for followers of the religion and features a hanging bridge that adds to its allure. Visitors should exercise caution when swimming due to the presence of whirlpools, but can also enjoy natural fish spas in the cool surrounding waters.
Unique historical site with hundreds of ancient rock-carved shiva lingas in the river bed. Best time to visit is during summers or much later after Monsoons when the river water levels recede and the Shiva Lingas are visible. The place itself is very calm and soothing. One can walk down the river bed with the lingas all around, presenting a stunning site. But sad to see people not respecing the sanctity of the place by taking baths and washing clothes in the river right next to the lingas, which is a sad sight. The Government must ensure such things don't happen. But definitely a must visit place, which reveals India's rich and mysterious history.
Sachin R — Google review
Sahasralinga is divine place. Visit during monsoon, be careful while taking dip in the river. Take photos on hanging bridge.
Siddu G — Google review
Visiting Sahasralinga in the month of July during the monsoon offers a completely different yet magical experience. Located near Sirsi in Uttara Kannada, this sacred site is known for thousands of Shiva Lingas carved on the rocks in the Shalmala River. During this season, the river flows full and strong, covering most of the stone carvings beneath the water. While the lingas are mostly submerged, the roaring river, lush green surroundings, and misty weather create a mesmerizing and spiritual atmosphere. The sound of gushing water mixed with the gentle rain makes the place feel alive and divine. Although you might not see many carvings clearly, the natural beauty and peacefulness of the monsoon-drenched forest make it a serene getaway. Just be cautious, as the rocks can be slippery and the water flow strong—it's more for enjoying nature and less for sightseeing the lingas during this time. Ideal for: Nature lovers, monsoon travelers, and those seeking a peaceful, offbeat spiritual retreat.
Sangamesh S — Google review
I have visited the Sahasralingeshwara Temple near Sirsi twice, and each time has been a deeply spiritual experience. Nestled on the serene banks of the Shalmala River, this sacred site is truly unique, with thousands of Shiva Lingas carved on the rocks. Built under the patronage of King Sadashivarayavarma (1678–1718), the place beautifully reflects the devotion and craftsmanship of that era. Walking along the riverbed, the sight of countless Shivalingas accompanied by carved Nandis creates an atmosphere of divine energy and timeless heritage. The calm flow of the river adds to the temple’s tranquility, making it not just a religious site but also a peaceful retreat for the soul. Each of my visits here has left me with a sense of awe and spiritual fulfillment, as the energy of the place feels constant and eternal.
Manoj M — Google review
Visiting Sahasralinga is not just a journey through nature, but a journey within — a place where faith meets peace, and the heart finds silence in the presence of the divine. Truly, it is one of the best and most soulful devotional places in Karnataka, a must-visit for all Shiva devotees.
Ashok D — Google review
Great place to relax and enjoy nature! Really peaceful spot surrounded by trees and a beautiful river view. The stairs take you right down close to the water ane shivalimgas, and the whole vibe is super calming. Perfect for a short walk, some quiet time, or just soaking in the natural beauty. Just a heads-up: try not to visit during the rainy season — the steps can get slippery and the water level rises, which makes it a bit tricky to explore safely.
Rakesh P — Google review
Lingas r beautiful although we could see only few as river was full of water. Don't forget to visit the hanging bridge. Staff there is helpful. Public toilet available but not very clean esp for females.
Raghu S — Google review
A divine and peaceful place surrounded by nature! Sahasralinga is truly a hidden gem near Sirsi. The riverbed is filled with beautifully carved Shiva Lingas and Nandi statues, all set against the serene flow of the Shalmala River. It’s a spiritually uplifting experience to see the natural jalabhisheka as the river flows over the Lingas. Best time to visit is post-monsoon or during winter when the water level is low and you can see most of the carvings clearly. The surroundings are calm and green, perfect for a peaceful getaway or family trip. No entry fee, but it’s important to keep the place clean and respect the sanctity. Highly recommend visiting during Maha Shivaratri for a more vibrant atmosphere!

Karwar Beach used to feel like an everyday childhood escape, but now it’s littered with garbage and surrounded by mess. The play area also needs serious attention, with rusted and damaged equipment in need of repair and improvement.

The beach is naturally serene and calm. Not crowded and can walk peacefully. It's dark sanded and has a rustic look. Landscapes are awesome with hills in background. It's just a few minutes detour from NH66 towards Mangalore side. Local government really need to work on the cleanliness side and need to build more facilities and a good toilet. Didn't find any good food stall or restaurant closeby. Dogs and cows wandering in the beach even at late night. Lot of littering all around the beach. Parking space is ample.

The museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the ship's interior, including the captain's cabin and control room, providing an educational and entertaining experience for history enthusiasts and families alike.
Visited the Warship Museum (INS Chapal) in Karwar – a unique experience inside a real Navy ship. You can explore cabins, weapons and get a feel of naval life. The view from the deck, especially near sunset, is beautiful.

It’s a great place to visit. It’s a very small theme based museum. It’s a navy ship INS Chapal and a cargo plane. Only navy ship is converted into museum where you can go inside seeing all the inner things like how to cabins were made, how the staff operated, how the places and engines are designed and assembled. Everything being kept in its original form that’s why it became rotten. But worth visiting. It’s lies somewhere between Gokarna and Goa route(may be I am not correct) Entry fees only 20rs per person. Must visit once.

A visit to INS Chapal is a great way to learn about India's naval history and appreciate the sacrifices of our brave sailors. Highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in naval history, technology, and patriotism.

50 Rs. Entry ticket per head. Could have been managed better by the Karnataka Tourism Board. Since, I have been to the naval museum at Vizag, this feels a little less. The caretaker at the entrance of the Karwar tupalov aircraft museum is very passionate about his job and knowledgeable about the exhibits and enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with visitors. I hope the government provided better guided facilities to the visitors here since the entry is ticketed.

The Warship & Aircraft museum at the Karwar beach is a special thing. We are allowed to get the glimpse of a decommissioned missile launcher ship of Indian Navy, the INS Chapal. Along with that the anti submarine aircraft Tuplev T-142M is also on display. After watching the amazing machines from inside and outside, one is filled with pride about the skills and hardwork that our soldiers put in for our safety. Photography is allowed on the deck and inside the ship but not inside the plane. AC are installed inside to make our experience more comfortable. A must watch if you go to Karwar. ₹ 50 are charged as ticket fee per person. The museum is open daily from 9.30 to 12.30 and then from 14.00 to 17.00

Located less than a km from Rabindranath Tagore beach, this warship museum uncovers the rich legacy of the Indian Navy. A great place especially to those who love to experience and pay attention to tiny details from the structure to a unique glimpse into life at sea. Entry fee is ₹15 and please ensure you carry change with you. Online payment was not accepted when I visited so please ensure you have cash to avoid unnecessary hassle.

Karwar Beach, also known as Rabindranath Tagore Beach, is a serene and tranquil spot located in the beautiful Karwar city along the Arabian Sea. It's a popular destination for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying breathtaking sunset views. The beach is well-maintained and offers a peaceful atmosphere for visitors to relax and unwind. Nearby attractions include a fish museum and war museum, adding cultural interest to the area.
A year ago, during my return from a college trip to Goa, we stopped by this incredible beach. It’s one of the cleanest beaches I’ve ever seen, with minimal crowds, making it a perfect spot to rest and unwind for a while. Although I didn’t personally try it, my classmates mentioned there’s a nearby hotel that serves good food. I’ll share some photos of the beach so you can get an idea and plan accordingly. As for activities, I didn’t notice any, like motorboats or other water sports, during my visit.

Tanshikar Spice Farm is a unique and scenic retreat spanning over 25 acres, run by the passionate Tanshikar couple. The farm offers a fascinating spice plantation tour led by Gauri, who provides detailed explanations about the different spices. The property features a 250-year-old mud house and delicious meals, especially noteworthy vegetarian dishes. Visitors praise the exceptional service and diverse language capabilities of the guides.
I didn't stay there. We went for a day outing to see the Spices at the farm. It's a generation old forest, full off native Indian and some other spices. They serve a welcome drink and then give you a tour with all the information and history you need ! It's great. The food they serve is healthy and freshly made, must have that too after your tour. And they also have a souvenir shop where you can buy all the spices and different amazing products made out of them.

Tanshikar Spice Farm, Goa Tanshikar Spice Farm is a truly delightful place to stay. The eco-friendly hut set right in the heart of the jungle offers a peaceful and immersive nature experience. The food was excellent — fresh, flavourful, and prepared with spices grown on the farm. Birding around the property was wonderful, with many species visible throughout the day. The night safari with owner of property Chinmay Tanshikar and Sahil the naturalist there ,was the highlight of our trip — we spotted a Slender Loris and five species of snakes, making it an unforgettable wildlife experience. A perfect destination for nature lovers looking for tranquillity, good food, and a touch of adventure.

We had an amazing stay at Tanshikar Spice Farm, Goa! 🌿 The place is a perfect mix of nature, learning, and relaxation. The organic food was absolutely delicious and fresh from the farm. We really enjoyed the trek and jungle safari – spotted some animals and got to experience the raw beauty of nature. What stood out most was the opportunity to learn about organic farming and sustainable practices – very insightful and inspiring. The owner and guide were wonderful hosts, making us feel at home with their warm hospitality and knowledge. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something offbeat, peaceful, and close to nature. Will definitely visit again! 🌱✨

We had a wonderful time here. Even the journey to the spice farm is magnificent. What we learned about spices here was very informative and interesting. We were able to marvel at the owner's ancient mud house and gained a fantastic insight into the beautiful natural surroundings. The thali, prepared with local ingredients, was delicious. The shop is also magnificent. For little money, you can get exclusive, high-quality products here: spices, honey, chocolate, and coffee varieties we had never seen before. A unique experience for all the senses. An experience you will never forget. Thank you very much, dear friends.

We went to Tanshikar Farm House for a Day Package Tour. The farm is spread over 25 acres of land. During our tour, they showed us a variety of spices and trees. Ms. Roshani guided us around the farm and shared detailed information about the plants and their uses. She was very brilliant, knowledgeable, and cheerful. The food was delicious, especially the mackerel fry, which was amazing. We also saw a 200-year-old mud house and honeybee hives. In the end, we purchased some spices and honey from their sales counter. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience

🌿 A Must-Visit Gem in Goa’s Heartland I recently visited Tanshikar Spice Farm in Netravali, and it was one of the most authentic and enriching experiences I’ve had in Goa. Owned by Mr. Chinmai Tanshikar, whose family has nurtured this land for over 250–300 years, the farm spans 23 lush acres and is a living example of sustainable, organic farming. From arecanuts, cardamom, coffee, maize, honey, pepper, and countless other spices, everything grown here is 100% organic—and available for purchase directly from the source. The guided tour was both educational and immersive, and the staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help, making the experience feel personal and warm. The food is simple, home-cooked, and deeply nourishing, prepared mostly with ingredients sourced from the farm itself or nearby homegrown plots. Meals are lovingly crafted by Mr. Chinmai’s mother and a few professional chefs, blending tradition with care. You can truly feel the freshness in every bite—it leaves you not just satisfied, but glowing from within. What truly sets this place apart is its eco-conscious spirit. They offer day and night treks, and within the estate flows a serene waterway that leads to a natural pool—perfect for a refreshing dip. Even more inspiring is their commitment to animal rescue, caring for stray dogs, snakes, and birds with compassion and dedication. This isn’t just a farm, it’s a sanctuary of nature, culture, and kindness. If you're ever in Goa, Tanshikar Spice Farm is a place you must visit at least once in your lifetime.

We had planned a tour to this most talked Spice Plantation of South Goa near Netravali Wild life area. There is an important advice to whomsoever planning to visit this area is to Download the Offline Maps properly in advance because there is no network coverage available here, though they provide the Free WiFi service at their spice plantation area. We were greeted by Mrs. Tanshikar and were welcomed with warn Green Tea. After which our tour got started. Mrs. Tanshikar explained us every plant in detail according to us Language which was Marathi. Due to which our kids also related to the explanation and understood every aspects about this plantation. The have many plants and spices which they grow here and the do it by Organic Farming and avoid the use of Harmful Pesticides and fertilizers. We explored plants of Coffee, Coco beans, Vanilla, spices, Nuts, Cloves, cardamom, Elaichi, etc. we also saw their 250 years old House which is built by using Soil and Clay and woods. We also had done some Spices shopping while returning from the farm. They were generous enough for not charging any tickets of our children and enjoying their tour. We were charged 350 per head which we felt were ok, as we got to see so many rare plants which didn't saw earlier anywhere else. So I would recommend others to kindly plan your visit and do call them before visiting to confirm your time slot.

Has the most wonderful afternoon at this farm. The owner gave us a thorough, insightful and intelligent tour of his plantation and 3rd generation family home. Lunch was included and we came away feeling spiritually enlightened, more knowledgable and so glad we learned about the importance of organic farming and permaculture. The whole experience was full of great energy and would highly recommend

Syntheri Rocks

The Syntheri Rocks is a park area that showcases a river with small rapids and rock formations that have been shaped and hollowed out over time. Visitors are required to pay an entry fee of 50/- per person and must navigate narrow roads for some off-roading before reaching the destination. The area offers ample parking space for both cars and bikes, but visitors should be prepared to walk down several flights of steps to access the rocks.
Good place/ falls for a picnic with family. Suggestion: 1. Can't swim 2. No network 3. Carry some cash. 4. Carry your food. 5. Entry fee (50) per head.

I visited here on 20-Apr-2025. Serene place. Parking available. 80 rupees per person. There is a small stall where you can get water and other stuff. From parking to the view point there are steps, climbing upstairs will be a little breathtaking so do have water in hand. One of the best places to visit in Dandeli. Some people do park their vehicle at the ticked counter and tend to walk, trust me it’s doing to be tiring better take your vehicle till the parking place.
Abhishek J — Google review
One of the unique natural monolithic rock formations to see which has been preserved. Recently opened. Do visit when it's not raining since it's a mud road which poses risk with downhill bends and elevation while returning. Cash only tickets. Either way you won't get any network.
Amit T — Google review
Syntheri Rocks is a towering granite monolith in the heart of Dandeli, shaped millions of years ago when molten magma cooled and later sculpted by the relentless Kali River. Its caves, potholes, and honeycomb patterns tell stories of centuries of erosion. In monsoon, the river crashes against it with wild force; in dry seasons, it stands calm and majestic. Visiting feels like meeting an ancient giant — silent, powerful, and timeless — a perfect blend of nature’s beauty and deep history.
Prajwal C — Google review
It's a wonderful heaven-like place. You can see various types of rock elements in one giant Syntheri rock. The beauty the rock has with underwater has a great impression.

A really beautiful place, it would’ve been better if we were allowed to go down but there was a fence, it’s really worth a visit, car parking was available but the washrooms are unusable

Nice place but have to go down a long way. Going down is easy, while coming up ita tiresome. Carry water no shops nearby. From gate its no proper road to point/steps atleast 15 min.

“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence."... ............ Exploring Karnataka....at Dandeli...... The famous monolithic granite.....Syntheri Rock..... At a distance of 31 km from Dandeli and 16 km from Ulavi, Syntheri Rock is monolithic granite structure with a height of 300 feet, which is located in the dense forests of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. It is one of the top Dandeli tourist places to visit. Syntheri Rock is a huge, massive limestone rock formed due to volcanic eruptions some million years ago. It is named after an English lady called Ms. Cinthera who is believed to have discovered this place in 20th century. River Kaneri passes along the side of this rock. Owing to the flow of the river from the vicinity, erosion has resulted in the rocks getting hollowed. The corners of this rock cave are inhabited by numerous pigeons and honeybees. Entry to the venue is controlled by forest department. The site can be reached either by jeep or by walk through the dense forest from the entrance. At the entrance visitors need to pay nominal entry fee and vehicles can go up to the parking area from where visitors need to climb down to reach the base. There is a 15-20 minute walk from the vehicle parking to the rock. A flight of 200 odd steps downwards lead you to the base. The steps are very steep and various types of rocks found in the forest are displayed along the steps.

An amazing place to view nature. To paraphrase Kuvembu , the river looks like a God's Signature among the infine sky and the green mountains from here. You need permission to go here and also try to go before 5pm.

We were searching for some view point and visited this place randomly. Really amazing to see and fantastic view. Only thing is photography not allowed inside premis. You can get some photos outside. Best view point i ever visited, soothing cold air and fog passes through you, we visited after noon so couldn't see much fog, morning is best time to visit. Do carry any ID proof as they will ask in checkpost. Must visit place.

Sykes Point is a must-visit destination in Dandeli, offering stunning views of the valley and surrounding forests. The confluence of River Kali and Nagzari River is a sight to behold. Trekking enthusiasts can enjoy the trails, while bird watchers can spot giant hornbills. Don't miss the sunset here. Permission from Karnataka Power Corporation is required, but it's worth the effort. Try for permission from KPCL security office at Ambikanagar in advance. Photography was not permitted.

It's beautiful and exciting side seeing into heart of the teak wood forest of Ambikanagar, Dandeli, But one to be noted you need to get permission from the Authorities of Karnataka Power Corporation Limited, Kalinadi Hydro Electric Project, Ambikanagar. Please keep the surrounding clean, so that our next generation can visit.
Chintamani N — Google review
Indeed, visiting this place is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, offering breathtaking views of nature's wonder. However, to access this beautiful destination, it's essential to obtain permission from KPCL (Karnataka Power Corporation Limited) in Ambikanagar, Dandeli. Once permission is granted, you'll be rewarded with a mesmerizing viewpoint of River Kali as it flows through a deep V-shaped gorge. The river gracefully curves around 90 degrees first towards the right and then towards the left, creating a truly awe-inspiring sight that showcases the raw power and beauty of nature.

“Agadi Thota” was conceptualised in the year of 2000 with a theme we grow, we offer, we process our produce. In the year 2017, as a value addition and to generate additional income to make agriculture more self sustainable, we started to offer a special authentic North Karnataka’s ethnic food which is a geographical indicator of this region. It was one of the best experiences to spend quality time with my family, surrounded by nature and enjoying traditional food. I especially loved the mud kitchen items prepared in the old style from our UK side — I’m a big fan! The food was completely tasty, healthy, and reminded us of our roots. The entrance games were on another level, and I had so much fun playing with my little and younger brother. It created beautiful memories for all of us. I sincerely request Agadi Thota to make mud kitchen items available either online or offline, so more people can use them, as they are really good for health. Nowadays, in Dharwad city, I only come across matka water, but not such authentic items. I am truly thankful to Agadi Thota and everyone behind it for keeping us healthy and for teaching the importance of our old lifestyle. 🙏

Agadi Thota is a perfect destination to enjoy the real rural beauty and culture of North Karnataka. The farm is well maintained, calm and quiet in lush green surroundings. The activities provided are enjoyable for all age groups. From bullock cart ride, pottery making, boating, rain dance and many others. But mind you they only provide the structure you have to do everything yourself. But the best part is the food of North Karnataka served during entire day..it’s simply awesome..fresh, tasty ,homely and unlimited also.. The staff is very warm and makes sure that whoever comes there have a great time. The concept of organic farming and showing people how to do such type of farming in a very sustainable manner is really appreciated. It’s not about visiting, it can be called as an complete cultural exposure. I would say family outing, school outing or if you are just bored from the life going around. If you are anywhere near Karnataka u must visit this place!

Avoid this resort at all costs!!This place is a complete scam. They lure people in with positive reviews and photos of a different resort, but when we arrived, they shifted us to another property called *Wildernest* without any prior notice. When we questioned them, they gave a vague excuse, claiming they assign resorts based on "availability." Since we reached late at night, we had no choice but to stay. The resort we were sent to was poorly maintained, none of the promised activities were available, and the worst part — they served the *same food* for all three days! If you value your time and money, do not book this resort. It completely ruined our vacation experience.

Dudhsagar Falls, located on the Goa-Karnataka border, is a stunning three-streamed waterfall known for its milky white waters. Surrounded by lush forests, the verdant landscapes come alive with cascading waterfalls and secluded swimming pools. The area is particularly enchanting during the Goa rains when crowds thin out and great deals on accommodations can be found.
One of the best and easiest trek. Start ny morning itself 12+12 kms trek thru forest, streams and tracks. Earlier trek till upper waterfalls now they stopped. Always book a guide, if going solo join a group.

We travelled on 11th Oct 2025. Jeep safari had just opened a day before after the monsoon break. It's recommended to start the journey early we started at 8 am . It is a one hour journey by jeep to the waterfall. You will be given 90 minutes at the waterfall. Additional time can be spent at additional charges. It is the best time to visit as waterfall is in full flow post monsoon. Jeep can accomodate 7 pax . 600 rs per person or 4200 per jeep. Forest check point charge 250 which includes life jacket charges. Pls do not litter this beautiful natural paradise.

A must visit place for people seeking some adventure. You have to reach Kolem by your convenience. Then you’ll have to book local jeep that will take you near the waterfall which would take around 45min. Then there’s 5-10 minutes of hiking and you’ll see the beauty of nature. That’ll cost around Rs 850/- including the forest charges which is 250 Rs. You’ll also get a life jacket that’s included in 850 Rs. You’ll also can also swim in the waterfall.

Good place for adventurous trip. You have option to go for hiking treking and jeep tour. It takes 45mins to go by jeep from the forest gate. Some places you cross the streams and full bumpy road for 45mins. You will be given 90 minutes to enjoy at the water falls. These jeep drivers charge waiting charges if you cross 90 mins. Avoid if elders with back pain. Also the water fall area doesn't have proper fencing support railing or any proper means to stand. Plenty of changing rooms but not maintained properly. You have a life guard near the water falls. Rocks are very skidy and be cautious.

Heavy Queue up to 3-4 hours for buying ticket, after ticket buy seat in their bolero around 45 min then you reach dudhsagar waterfall parking area… after that 10 min walking for dudhsagar waterfall, after seeing you feeling just wow… awesome location.. but time taken.

No shops inside, so take your water bottles with you. The road is very very rocky. Anyone with back problems is adviced not to go. You will need to pay a maintanence fee, its about 220 per person. Carry cash, they do not accept any digital payments. Theres 3 ways to reach the actual falls. The first 2 options are a trek. You can trek from Kullem or Castle Rock. The trek from Castle Rock is almost a whole days worth trek and you will need a guide. The one from Kullem is about half a days worth. The roads to reach there are also very muddy mostly because of jeeps that keep crossing the road. I personally would not recommend the trek because it's not very scenic, the roads are bad to non existent and is dangerous in general, especially from Castle Rock. And you can't take a jeep back from there either because jeeps already have their passengers pre-booked from the ticket point. The only advantage of the trek is that you can stay at the falls as long as you want. The third way is to book a jeep. Best way imo. They run non stop from the ticket point. It's 500 person(on top the maintanence fee). They'll drop you at the final leg, from there you have to trek for 10mins. A very simple trek. You get 1.5 hours at the falls. Enough to see whatever the falls has to offer.

It’s an easy to moderate trek for around 11.5 kms one way…the view is not much what we expected but was okish. The guide will force you to take the train track route but please make sure you take the forest route for better view and experience.

There are Two ways to Explore the Mighty Falls, one in by Trek and other is Jeep safari which is 4200 per jeep (Rs.700/- per Head) if you are less then 7 you can share with others. By Trek is very difficult for Inexperience, its took 3 hours up and 3 hours down total of 6 Hours Walk. Forest Entry Ticket is Rs.250/- per person. Jeep Travel time is 45 Min up and 45 min Down. They Gave you 1.30 Hours for bath in Falls if waterflow is low. The 1.30 hours time is not enough for everyone because we cant get out of the falls due to its carry such joy and wild experience, they gave you life jackets so don't worry about if you not know to swim. Overall I highly recommend everyone must visit this Falls once you are in GOA. Timing 9.0 am to 3.0 pm. Checkpost is walkable from Kulem Railway Station, which is 30 min from Madgoan Junction.

Such a beautiful creation by nature!! An adventurous drive by the jeep for almost an hour to the majestic Dudh Sagar waterfall. On the way it's a lush green rain forest with a few water crossings. The sight of the mighty waterfalls is so mesmerizing. Swimming at the bottom the waterfall is an amazing experience. Visiting this place is definitely worth it!!

While I have been to Doodhsagar falls a couple of times, this time we decided to go on a trek. A total of 12 kilometres from the gate to waterfalls, it was an awesome experience in the morning. Walking through the forest, if you are a nature person, then I bet you will enjoy the early mornings. All is good until you have walk back 12 kms .. it was not at all fun to walk back in the scorching sun ... Yet it was fine .. overall an unique experience.

We wanted to go to Dudhsagar waterfall but there were no jeep service available that time hence we took this trekking route for 10 km's. We have walked through this jungle, its has got lots n lots of surprises. It was raining and river was flowing on its full throttle. I can't explain it was so beautiful.

Dodhsagar water fall is present in it, need to carry cash here, good place for trekking, safe haven for endangered species, contribute to environmental education, conservation, and community well-being, provide a space for visitors to learn about biodiversity, ecosystems, and the importance of conservation in a hands-on, engaging way.

Kadamba Shri Mahadeva Temple, Tambdisurla

Kadamba Shri Mahadeva Temple, Tambdisurla is a 12th-century Hindu temple located in the serene surroundings of the Bhagwan Mahavir wildlife sanctuary. This architectural marvel is constructed without any binding between stones, maintaining cool interiors even in scorching temperatures. Believed to be the oldest shrine in Goa, it showcases Kadamba-Yadava architecture and is a significant attraction.
This is a fascinating destination for nature lovers, history lovers and the adventurers. As also those who are religious(primarily hindus) since they worship God in this temple. This monument has been declared to be of national importance. The journey to this location situated in the Mollem wildlife Sanctuary was breathtakingly beautiful with lush forests on both sides of the road. The road which connnects from the main road to the location was well maintained and was a pleasure to drive on. We started off from Mapusa and proceeded to Valpoi via Bicholim, proceeeded to Honda and took a right turn at Cotorem untill we reached a junction where we took a left turn. From here the temple is about 15 km. The road is straight and simple. The road is being widened at certain areas. If you continue going right for another 7 kms you ll reach Bondla Park and Zoo. It took us about 90 minutes or so to reach this destination. A charge of Rs 10 per person is charged by the Panchayat at the Mollem Sanctuary checkpost to take care of the Garbage as per their receipt. On the way there were ample opportunities to click beautiful pics with mother Nature. Upon arrival you are greeted with the locals selling fresh flowers to offer to the temple diety for 30 Rs a bunch. (Wrapped by a large leaf) an eco-sensitive move. There are a couple of eateries which serve you lime soda, softdrinks etc. Along with mirchi pav, kaapa, maggi noodles etc. There is a small bridge built over the stream and after a brief walk (100m) leads to the main temple arena. Chilled and hygienic drinking water is available. There is toilet facility. Car parking is ample but on weekends it could get a little crowded. In one corner of the area there this beautiful tree with Pajakta flowers(parijat) also known as night jasmine. It made a pretty sight. There is provision to light incense sticks. The structure of the temple is made up of Basalt rock and has multiple carvings which has been detailed by the ASI(Goa circle) in its information board at the entrance. This place would be worth visiting during rains however no swimming is permitted which can lead to fatalities. A warning board is seen to that effect. We were lucky to see small animals such as the cute monkeys who eat from your hand, monitor lizards and mongooses. we also saw a school, a health centre and a car workshop in this area. Looks like things are developing in this area. All in all this temple is a masterpiece of a carving dated to 12th or 13th sanctuary. While in Goa, put this destination on your travel list!

A very mystical temple with strong vibes. Situated in bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary the drive itself to the temple is serene. The temple is from 13th century and is maintained by ASI. Very neatly maintained lawn n garden. The forest area, river and the less crowd makes this an offbeat experiance. Must visit if you are in Goa.

Located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer wildlife sanctuary in Goa, Tamdi Surla Mahadev temple or Kadamba Shri Mahadev temple is a 13th century Kadamba dynasty temple. Legend say, Pandavas had built this temple even earlier to this period when the queen of Kadamba dynasty rebuilt this temple again. The temple is located in dense forest along the river Surla and has a beautiful Kadamba style architecture. Temple is very devine and has a spiritual aura with a beautiful carvings. Post temple visit, pls do try the snaks from the locals outside the temple. They are lip smacking..!

My Experience at Tambdi Surla Temple Visiting the Tambdi Surla Mahadev Temple was a truly enchanting experience — a perfect blend of spirituality, history, and nature. Hidden deep within the lush forests of the Western Ghats, the temple felt like a timeless treasure untouched by the modern world. As I walked along the narrow path surrounded by towering trees and the soothing sound of a flowing stream, I could already sense the sacred energy of the place. The moment I saw the temple, I was mesmerized. Built entirely out of black basalt stone, every inch of it is adorned with intricate carvings that tell ancient stories of devotion and craftsmanship. The cool stone walls and the soft fragrance of incense inside the sanctum created a divine peace that’s hard to describe in words. The sight of the Shiva Lingam and the majestic Nandi facing it filled me with a deep sense of reverence. What struck me most was the serene silence all around — broken only by the chirping of birds and the rustle of leaves. It’s amazing to think that this 12th-century temple has stood strong through centuries, protected by nature itself. Tambdi Surla is not just a temple; it’s an experience of divine calm, architectural brilliance, and natural beauty all woven into one. It reminded me that spirituality often resides in the quietest, most hidden corners of the world.

One of best and peaceful place . The temple is small but the architecture was very old which tells a lot of history. Temple is located middle of the forest the road was good you can easily reach the temple no need to walk. It's better take one vechile or rental cars . Public transport is also available but only 1 time from Panjim to tamde surla that reaches 2:30 pm and will back After 2:30 again to Panjim . From madgaon also you'll get but you have to change 2 more bus . Madgoan to ponda to mollem from mollem you have to take bike on rental ( piolet) they will charge 250/- per person . Beside the temple there is small channal is there and the water is very clean looks like filter water . Temple was very neatly maintained . From temple arround 1km there was a water fall is also there but when we visited in that time it was closed due to some reason. In front of temple limited snacks shops are available the taste is very good. Overall my opinion is very good place visit with your family and friends.

This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is at the end of an offbeat road in Tambdisurla, Goa. You have to take a detour of around 20 Kms from the main Panaji Belgavi highway and you drive down winding roads between lush green forest on both sides. You find an occasional stream flowing which makes it even more serene. The temple is built in the late Chalukya and Hoysala architecture. There is a Shivalinga inside the sanctum and pooja is still offered here. Opens at 9.00am in the morning and closes at 5.30 pm in the evening.
Prashant G — Google review
Mahadev Temple at Tambdi Surla, is that of the Kadamba style, dated 13th Cent. It is reminiscent of the temples at Aihole Karnataka. This temple was built with Basalt, carried here from the Deccan plateau. It is perhaps the only Kadamba architecture made in Basalt. It survived all types of invasions due to it being located deep in the forests at the foot of the western ghats. Just our floundering luck, of being unable to see the inside of this Mahadev temple. First the premises were locked and after being opened for us to troop in, the temple was not accessible , since the priest wasn't there. I personally loved the serenity the place.

A beautiful and timeless 13th century temple built by kadambas. The Shiva Linga fills you with devotion the moment you see it. The peaceful water stream with small fishes adds to the charm. The drive to the temple is awesome, and the place is very clean and well maintained. A must-visit spot for a calm, divine experience.

Unkal Lake Hubli: Perfect for Picnics & Peaceful Walks! Unkal Lake is a popular and well-maintained spot in Hubli, ideal for picnics, walks, and quality family time. The lake is large, complemented by a clean garden, playground, and walking pavements right at the entrance. Entry is a nominal ₹10 per person, and car parking is conveniently available in front. While the lake itself is well-maintained with regular de-weeding and attractive new fountains with lights, it's disheartening to see visitors still scattering garbage and plastic, despite efforts to keep it litter-free. A great place to relax, if visitors contribute to its cleanliness.

A great place to spend time with family and friends! The Unkal Lake and garder is the place where you can find real peace and happiness. The place is totally covered with greenery and we can see many view points there so that we can enjoy the lake view from there and can feel the atmosphere. The lake and garden is really wonderful but I suggest to maintain the Unkal Lake more as the water seems to be polluted, and also request each and everyone (including me) to maintain the place and follow the rules so that the lake and garden look better and it's our own responsibility to maintain our area and surroundings clean including public parks, gardens and more. My overall experience was pretty good and I really enjoyed a lot. Most recommended garden to visit for the one who are new to Hubballi, and i recommend those too who haven't visited this place. There are even many more kids playable area so that kids can enjoy and have fun. Best walking trails are available for morning and evening walks and you'll really enjoy it. Huge Parking facility is also available vehicle parking. The ticket is Rs.10 per person and Rs.5 for vehicle (the day I visited). * Online Payment Option is not available. ** No entry ticket and vehicle parking ticket were provided by the ticket counter agent, who was unresponsive.* Overall my experience for this visit was worth watching and I really enjoyed here! Great place for walkers and jogger’s . We could only make 1/4th round of the entire lake . According to the security of the lake the entire periphery of the lake is about 6.5 kms . The lake closes at 07:00 pm . If you are planning to cover the entire round then have ample time before you take the full circle. The lake is just next to Hotel naveen . The pavement have been well laid . There are lights out along the track so that the move may be smooth . There is a sun set view point at the enterance at a heightened location . There is an eatery/restaurant at the entrance where you can grab snack before you set out for walking . Entrance fee is 10/- and parking fee is also 10/- . If you are in Hubballi and not sure where to go in the evening then this is a good place to explore .

I am a resident of Jaipur and have been visiting lake for long walks ever since childhood. I have seen people from all walks of life come to lake for morning and evening walks. I like to walk the talk here with friends and family. The environment of the lake is very conducive for deep introspection. Watching the sunrise or sunset gives me an exhilarating experience and makes me feel one with God and Nature. Of late you can see the water shimmering like silver if you go around 5:30 or 6:00 pm and makes the whole area look so calm and serene and beautiful. At the other end of the lake there is now a Buddha Park with a very beautiful calm and serene statue of Lord Buddha in sitting pose. At the entrance you will find the lake club, restaurant, lots of vendors selling eatables, and a big play zone for kids where you can enjoy with kids. Also, there are ducks in the lake which you can feed or go for a boat ride. There are plenty of things to do here. It has become an activity centre for people. All in all an enjoyable experience.

Kittur Fort is an archaeological site that houses the remains of an old fortress, along with well-maintained garden areas and a small museum showcasing ancient artifacts, armour, weapons and other items used by soldiers. Located just 1 km from the highway, this quiet fort is easily accessible with ample parking nearby.
Pride of Karnataka. We can see how scientific and safely those people spend their lives during ancient days. We know it's too old and destroyed most of the part but yet it gives a view on their scientific lifestyle. Presently reconstruction work is going on. Anybody can visit the fort at any time after completion of construction work. Thank you 😊...

"I'm absolutely in awe of Kittur Fort, a true pride of Karnataka! Despite being ancient and partially destroyed, it showcases the scientific and safe lifestyle of our ancestors. The ongoing reconstruction work promises to restore its former glory, and I can't wait to visit again soon. Located between Dharwad and Belgaum, the fort is steeped in history, having witnessed many battles, including Rani Chennamma's brave fight against the British Army. The museum is a treasure trove of artifacts, with portraits, swords, and sculptures that bring history to life. The fort's surroundings are well-maintained, with a beautiful garden and ample parking. Each part of the fort is labeled, making it easy to explore. I loved the local school chorus singing patriotic songs about Rani Chennamma - it felt like walking through a movie! A big salute to our ancestors for their ingenuity and bravery. Kittur Fort is a must-visit, and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in history, culture, and patriotism. The best part? It's free to visit, and the authorities deserve kudos for maintaining this awesome monument

The Kittur Fort, located in Kittur Chennamma, is a place of immense historical importance, famous as the site where Rani Chennamma bravely fought the British. 📍 Location & Travel From Belgaum: Approximately 50 km From Dharwad: Approximately 30 km From Hubli: Approximately 60 km ✨ Highlights of the Fort Museums: An excellent resource for children and history enthusiasts, featuring historical monuments, ancient coins, maps, and other artifacts. Guided Tours: A guide is available on-site to provide detailed explanations about the fort and the inspiring life of the freedom fighter, Rani Chennamma. Photography & Views: A beautiful spot for photo lovers, with great locations inside the fort and a viewpoint offering scenic vistas. Devotional Sites: The fort premises also house a Gram Devata temple and a Hanuman temple, providing a devotional atmosphere. 🍽️ Food & Dining Tips On-site: There are no well-known, sit-down hotels directly in Kittur. Recommendation: It is best to dine at a Highway Dhaba where you can find space and a focus on hygiene (e.g., Durgamba Dhaba) located near the main highway. 🛣️ Nearby Attractions Saibaba Temple: Located about 3 km from the fort, near the highway.
