The lake was very picturesque with mountains in the background. We went for a 30 minutes boat ride which was quite enjoyable.

Beautiful mountain right at the center of the town. You can see it from all the spots. There is a museum on it's top, caves. It's a holy mountain and locals go there to pray. Landmark of the city, must visit place!

Best place to visit in Osh. Great views of the city. It's not so easy to walk there (a lot of steps), but it's worth it. Better visit it in Spring or early Fall, because it is quite hot in this region during the Summer.

The Apak Khoja complex in Kashgar is a renowned tourist attraction featuring intricate tile designs covering its 17th-century Islamic tomb complex, lecture hall (madrasa), mosque, and Princess Xiang Fei (lparhan/Nur Ela Nurhan) Memorial. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the 17th century when Uighur masses and Han Chinese administrators built bridges to establish mutually beneficial long-term relationships and coexistence.

Historical non active Muslim Musk (1640) with ceramic tiles. Inside the musk are female and male tombs. Local authority added a park in front of the musk.

Only a monument Not a mausoleum. Saw many Turkish and Mongol languages inscribed and their culture preserved for more than a thousand years. The Uigher and Hui muslimes are exemplary. I had full access to the largest mosque in China. Impressed with their humanity and sincerety. Good to visit this mausoleum and Kashgar bazaar. Both historical, and culturally rich. Didn't see any Uigher genocide, concentration camps, religious curtailment, or cotton forced labour. I travelled the length and breadth of Xinjiang for 16 days.

A trip to Kashgar isn't complete without a visit to this renown Apak Khoja complex; the mausoleum, lecture hall (madrasa), mosque and Princess Xiang Fei (lparhan/Nur Ela Nurhan) Memorial. Remind ones back to the 17th Century period where the Uighur masses and the Han Chinese administrator, 2 different and distinct cultures, were building bridges to cement a mutually beneficial long term relationship and coexistence.

Hiking area
Deosai National Park is a vast elevated plateau that offers stunning views of seasonal blooms, wildlife and mountains. To reach Astore from Skardu, visitors must rent a jeep and navigate through unpaved roads for approximately 7 hours. This park is considered one of the most untouched and beautiful places in northern Pakistan, with its natural beauty preserved by the government.
Deosai National Park is a breathtaking plateau located between Skardu, Astore, and Kharmang districts in Gilgit-Baltistan. Known as the "Land of Giants," it features wide open grasslands, colorful wildflowers, and rare wildlife like the Himalayan brown bear. The park’s beauty is at its peak during summer when it turns into a lush green wonderland. Deosai is a perfect spot for camping, photography, and experiencing nature in its purest form.
Haroon H — Google review
At around 4000 m, the plateau is home to a diverse fauna and flora. A jeepable track from Skardu takes one to Seosar Lake point, passing Bara Pani and other attractions. Marmoth on the way greets you. With make-shift hotels & tenst cropping up, the place may soon become a dump. The forest/wildlife staff is doing a good job in controlling people, and stopping them from polluting.
Amir.photoz — Google review
Deosai National Park is an alpine plateau of exceptional beauty and ecological value located in the western massif of the Himalayas, east of Nanga Parbat Peak and in close proximity to the Central Karakoram Range. The plateau, with an altitude of 3500 to 5200 m., is an area of 358,400 ha. of flat but undulating plains broken by gently rolling hills and surrounded on all sides by mountains. It forms a stark contrast to much of the surrounding landscape which is made up of narrow valleys between steep mountains. Best time to visit: Peak season: The best time to visit is during the summer months, from June to October, when the park is open. Best for wildflowers: July is often recommended for peak wildflower blooms. Mosquitoes: Be prepared for a large number of mosquitoes during the summer, especially near water sources.
Ayesha J — Google review
A Breathtaking Journey to Deosai National Park – Land of Flowers and Wild Wonders Visiting Deosai National Park was nothing short of magical. Known as the "Land of Giants," this high-altitude plateau felt like stepping into an untouched, otherworldly paradise. Stretching across vast meadows painted with a vibrant carpet of wildflowers, Deosai is one of the most surreal landscapes I've ever experienced. The air is crisp, the silence serene, and the views—absolutely endless. One of the most thrilling aspects of Deosai is its rich wildlife. It's famously home to the majestic Himalayan brown bear, and with some luck and patience, you might just catch a glimpse of one roaming freely in its natural habitat. Their presence adds a powerful sense of respect and awe to the environment. Adding a unique and surprising charm to our visit was the sight of golden marmota rare encounter in these parts! These gentle, social animals added a touch of curiosity to our adventure. Whether sunbathing near Sheosar Lake or wandering near the streams, they seemed perfectly at peace, adding to Deosai’s reputation as a haven for wildlife. Deosai is not just a destination—it's an experience that reconnects you with nature in its purest form. From stunning alpine lakes to wildflower-filled valleys and the incredible animals that call it home, every moment here feels sacred. For nature lovers, adventure seekers, or anyone looking to escape into raw beauty, Deosai is an absolute must-visit.

It was an amazing trip to Deosai National Park. We climbed to the top of the mountains, where it was very cold even in mid-May. We had a great time, enjoying fries and pakoras in the freezing cold environment. The routes were scary but enjoyable at the same time. Having a 4x4 jeep is essential for getting there.
Zeeshan A — Google review
A place like I have never seen before. A regular traveller. Must visit. Dedicate one complete day. Leave by 8 in the morning to return before evening. The route to Deosai is good till Sadpara and onwards not good till Sheoshar lake. 4x4 is a must. Don't save money by taking your own car. You'll end up spending more.
Adnan A — Google review
Deosai National Park is absolutely breathtaking — endless green plains, snowy peaks, and crystal-clear lakes make it feel like heaven on earth. The peace and beauty are unmatched. The road can be rough, but the view is totally worth it. A must-visit for anyone who loves nature and adventure!

We visited the national park and unfortunately the park was closed for public due to a VIP visitor. No prior intimation was put up on their website leading to disappointment. We got an opportunity to see only the animal rescue centre where we saw a few Himalayan black bears and 2 leopards.
BHAGYALAKSHMI I — Google review
Dachigam Park is a nice place to visit, especially if you enjoy nature and peaceful surroundings. It’s a good spot for a walk, with fresh air and scenic views. In terms of wildlife, the park mainly houses Brown Bears, Black Bears, and Leopards, along with a fish farm. While it’s interesting, the variety of animals is quite limited. Overall, it’s a good place to explore, though not the most exciting if you’re expecting a wide range of wildlife. Still, it’s worth a visit for the natural beauty and quiet atmosphere.

Dachigam National Park, a short drive from Srinagar, is a quiet mountain sanctuary of forests, alpine meadows and rich birdlife where the rare Hangul (Kashmir stag) still survives — visiting feels like stepping from the city into a peaceful, photogenic wildroom of streams, trails and sudden animal sightings; it’s perfect for a half-day wildlife escape (permits are required and mornings give the best chances to spot wildlife).
Shahid B — Google review
Dachigam National Park is a calm and beautiful place with clean surroundings and well-maintained trails. During our visit we only spotted a leopard and a bear—no other animals were visible at the time, though the area clearly has rich wildlife. The fish hatchery inside the park is a highlight and is very well managed, showing the conservation work happening there. The whole environment feels fresh, peaceful, and worth visiting for nature lovers.

Thajiwas Glacier is a must-see destination in Sonamarg, Kashmir. It's a stunning snow glacier that offers breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience. However, visitors should be cautious of locals running ice scooters who may overcharge for their services. Additionally, local taxi operators may demand high prices for short distances, so it's advisable to negotiate and consider walking to fully enjoy the beauty of the area.
Sonmarg, often referred to as the "Meadow of Gold," is another must-visit destination in Kashmir. Similar to Gulmarg, this enchanting place offers snow-covered landscapes throughout the year, making it a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. A visit to the Thajiwas Glacier is a highlight of Sonmarg. To reach the glacier, you can take a pony ride, which adds a touch of adventure to the journey. Alternatively, union cabs are available to take you to various scenic points. During our visit, we opted for the pony ride to the glacier, and it was an unforgettable experience. The sight of the pristine snow and the thrill of being surrounded by such natural beauty made it truly magical. For those seeking more fun, there are sledges available, where locals will drag you up the snowy slopes for an exhilarating ride down. Additionally, skiing and other snow activities are offered, ensuring there's something for everyone. We spent a delightful half-day here, from the afternoon until late evening, enjoying the activities and the serene ambiance. Sonmarg also has plenty of food stalls where you can savor local delicacies, including the famous Kashmiri Qahwa, a warm and aromatic tea that's perfect for the chilly weather. However, it's important to note that if you're planning to buy dry fruits or saffron, it's best to purchase them from Pampore, Pahelgam known for its authenticity and quality. A practical tip: Make sure to rent snow boots, as regular shoes won't suffice in the cold and snowy conditions. This destination is perfect for families, offering a mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural experiences. Our family had an amazing time here, and it's a place we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kashmir.
Shamsher K — Google review
A must visit place. Really beautiful and quiet place for nature lovers and people who like to explore nature. There are tea and Maggie stalls near by and barista nearby. Horse rides are available, however you can also trek to this place. The glacier is about 5km from the highway and it’s an easy trek (depends if you’re active or mostly sedentary). Do visit, sit there for a moment and embrace the tranquil landscape! Note: Please do not litter. Respect nature and the locals! Make sure you carry all waste that you generate with you and dispose it properly in a dustbin! Be a responsible traveler!

Nestled just 3 km from Sonmarg, Thajiwas Glacier is a breathtaking natural wonder surrounded by lush green meadows and snow-capped peaks. It’s one of the most popular attractions in Sonmarg, offering visitors a chance to experience snow even during summer. You can reach the glacier by pony ride or a short trek, passing through scenic landscapes and crystal-clear streams. The area is perfect for photography, family picnics, and snow activities. Local stalls serve hot tea and Maggi, adding to the mountain charm. Best time to visit: April to October Travel tip: Start early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy clear mountain views.
Shaibaz S — Google review
Stunning. You must come here to see the scenic beauty and a divine feeling. Absolute serene and scenic. Use sledge to go till 18 points and enjoy the view. With snow around it gives a different feeling. Visiting in the mid of the March is probably the best time. Better to start early around 10 am, and enjoy the least crowded space and no waiting time for snow bike either.
Amit S — Google review
Amazing place, natures beauty at its best. The mountain the snow its really beautiful even the road that you travel in order to reach the destination is lovely. The only difficult part you have to get the pony’s to reach the glacier point and sometimes people scam by charging more for tourist, better bargain and ensure you get a good rate. Overall it’s a must visit place. Pictures shows the destination and the scenery on the way
Usama K — Google review
Thajiwas Glacier in Sonmarg is stunning, with snow-capped peaks and streams that make it feel magical. You can easily reach by walking, no need for snow bikes or ponies. Beware of scams as many locals push for costly rides. Walking is peaceful, safe, and lets you enjoy the natural beauty at your own pace.
Alex T — Google review
It is a very easy hike along the valley. You can easily walk upto the pony shed, which you find on Google maps. Start at around 9 or before to beat the tourist crowd. It is a very picturesque valley. Locals do not advise walking beyond the pony shed, because of the bears in the area. However it is perfectly safe upto this point, and you have a well laid path as well. There's also a village on the way, so you aren't completely alone. Pony riders will try and convince you otherwise, do not fall for it, unless you really want to ride a pony. Fall season is a perfect time to visit (late october) it is not too cold, peaks have snow on them, and there's little crowd.

The Kargil War Memorial, also known as Dras War Memorial, is a war memorial built by the Indian Army commemorating the 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan. The memorial is located on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway 1D, about 5 km from the city centre across the Tiger Hill, Kargil. The central feature of the memorial is a pink sandstone wall bearing a brass plate engraved with names of the soldiers who died during Operation Vijay. Visible from the site are the Tololing Heights, Tiger Hill, and Point 4875 (Batra Top), where fighting took place during the conflict. The memorial features the Captain Manoj Pandey gallery, which commemorates a young officer who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military award, for leadership during the war.

Firstly, I would like to inform everyone that the Memorial is open everyday including Sunday till the 7.30pm being out time as one of the soldiers there told me. And even after trying the changes could not be made by them in Google. This is a place of worshipping the brave soldiers and reminder of the sacrifices the Indian army has been making since years and still now. Proud to be an Indian and glad to have visited the Memorial.

A Slice of Heaven on Earth – Betaab Valley, Pahalgam Betaab Valley, also known as Hajan Valley, is truly one of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited. Nestled between the snow-capped mountains and lush pine forests, this valley is a perfect blend of natural beauty, serenity, and cinematic charm. It's no wonder it was named after the Bollywood film Betaab that was shot here. The crystal-clear Lidder River flowing through the valley adds a magical touch to the already stunning landscape. The green meadows, surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks, create a picture-perfect view that feels straight out of a fairy tale. Whether you're a nature lover, photography enthusiast, or simply looking for peace, this place will not disappoint. There are plenty of open spaces for children to play, couples to relax, and families to picnic. Horse riding and traditional Kashmiri attire photoshoots add a fun and cultural vibe to the visit. Accessibility is good, and the area is well-maintained by local authorities. The fresh air, the sound of the flowing river, and the panoramic views make it an unforgettable experience. A must-visit spot if you are in or around Pahalgam!

Barwalla Waterfall is a visually striking spot located near the Summal Power Grid in Kangan. However, it's important to understand that this is not a natural waterfall—it is actually the overflow from the power grid, which can be extremely dangerous. The area has witnessed sudden surges of water, especially during peak flow or rainfall, and people have been trapped in the waterfall zone during such incidents. Despite its beauty, entering the waterfall or trying to get too close is strongly discouraged. There are no safety sirens or barriers in place, so awareness and caution are crucial. Heroism or thrill-seeking can be fatal here. The water current can intensify without warning, making it extremely unsafe. The best and safest view is from the opposite side of the waterfall, where you can enjoy the full scenery without putting yourself at risk. It’s a good spot for photography or a quiet nature break—just from a safe distance. Pros: Beautiful and peaceful surroundings Less crowded; good for photography from afar Cons: Man-made overflow, not a natural waterfall Dangerous to approach; no safety systems in place Tips: Stay on the safe side of the waterfall Do not enter the water or get too close Visit with caution and never alone Verdict: A scenic spot best enjoyed from a distance. Respect the power of the water and prioritize safety.

This striking sculpture, carved into a natural rock face, is believed to be one of the oldest and largest of its kind in Ladakh.

Sinthan Top is a stunning mountain pass and a popular tourist destination, accessible only in the summer months. Located about a 4-hour drive from Srinagar, it stands at an impressive 12,000 ft above sea level and serves as the starting point for various trekking routes to the upper region. The area is often covered in frozen ice throughout the year and may experience snow even during the summer if it rains.
A serene, offbeat gem in Kashmir. Expect breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and valleys. It's less crowded than popular spots, offering a tranquil experience. Great for photography and some adventure like trekking and snow activities when accessible. Be prepared for potentially challenging roads and limited facilities. A must-visit for those seeking natural beauty away from the crowds. They allow entry before 2.30 pm...

Positives : 1. Scenic Beauty: “Breathtaking views all around. The drive to Sinthan Top is an experience in itself!” 2. Peaceful and Serene: “Unlike other crowded tourist spots, this place feels untouched and tranquil.” 3. Great for Road Trips: “One of the most beautiful drives in Kashmir. The winding roads with snow walls on both sides are magical.” 4. Snow Even in Summers: “Visited in May and still saw snow! Kids loved playing in it.” 5. Visited in June 2024. It is a mountain pass and a popular tourist destination. Around 4hrs one-way drive from Srinagar. It is a starting point of many trekking routes to upper region. The location has frozen ice most of the time around the year and will snow even summer time if it rains. Moreover, the view during the drive up to the Top is wonderful. But it is not a proper spot for children. If you don't bring own warm cloths, then you can rent on the way and also on the top. However, check carefully and bargain. They tend to give faulty jacket and other items. Also you can find snow-jets for rent and they will take you little higher than the normal area. But the cost is too much high.
Mahbubul I — Google review
This view point is located at 12000ft high from sea level. Covered with snow at mere places even in June. Adventure activities like snow bike, sledging are available with higher cost. Wearing snow jackets, gloves and boots which are available in rental basis are advisable to enjoy the climate prevailant there. Worth visiting once in a lifetime.
Raj K — Google review
Very nice and serene place. Less crowd than other popular attractions but much better experience. You can step out of your vehicle on to the snow directly. No need for any horse ride or local taxi.

Sinthan Top is a high mountain pass situated at an elevation of about 3,748 meters (12,300 feet) in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It serves as a crucial link between Kishtwar and Anantnag districts, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. 🥶⛄️ The pass is characterized by its pristine natural beauty, with lush green meadows, dense forests, and clear blue skies. 🌨️It is a popular destination for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers, offering opportunities for trekking, hiking, and photography. The road to Sinthan Top is known for its sharp curves and steep climbs, making the journey both challenging and exhilarating. In the summer months, the area is accessible and attracts many visitors looking to escape the heat of the lower regions. During the winter, heavy snowfall often blocks the pass, adding to its rugged charm. Sinthan Top remains relatively less commercialized compared to other tourist spots in the region, providing a serene and unspoiled environment for travelers.

It's an average place to visit unless you are spiritual and follow Buddhist culture otherwise there's nothing else. It's a very small place which is allowed for tourists, from outside it looks big due to their school but that's not allowed for outsiders. Entrance is Rs 50 per person

We didn't go into the monastery but had lunch at the restaurant right at the entrance. We did some nice photographs of the monastery from a distant vantage point around the sunset. Few hundred meters above the monastery is a nice photo point overlooking the moon landscape. It seems accessible by walking from Monastery otherwise you need to take a bit of a road detour

Nubra Valley, located in Ladakh, is a picturesque and secluded valley known for its lush greenery amidst desert-like landscapes. Situated almost 3000m lower than Leh, it is nestled between the Karakoram Range and nourished by two rivers. The valley boasts an abundance of Sea buckthorns, Alfalfa, pink and yellow roses during summers, and wild lavenders in autumn.
Nubra Valley isn’t just a destination — it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, serene monasteries, sand dunes, and surreal landscapes, it’s one of India’s most underrated travel gems. The journey begins by flying to Leh, Ladakh (with direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, or Srinagar). From Leh, Nubra is around 120 km away and accessible via Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world at 18,380 ft. The drive itself is an unforgettable adventure, offering jaw-dropping views and adrenaline-pumping routes. Key highlights include the Diskit Monastery with its towering Maitreya Buddha statue, the cold desert and camel rides at Hunder Sand Dunes, the peaceful and culturally rich village of Turtuk near the Indo-Pak border, the healing Panamik Hot Springs, and the sacred, hidden Yarab Tso Lake near Sumur. The best time to visit Nubra Valley is from May to September when the weather is clear and roads are fully accessible. During winter, heavy snow often closes the passes, making travel risky. Accommodation options range from charming homestays to luxury eco-camps spread across Diskit, Hunder, and Sumur. Local food is simple, soulful, and delicious — don’t miss the thukpa, momos, skyu, and traditional butter tea. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming. Whether you’re a biker, photographer, solo traveler, or peace-seeker, Nubra Valley touches the soul with its raw beauty and serenity. It’s not just a place you visit — it’s a place that transforms you. A must-visit if you’re exploring Ladakh and want to go beyond the ordinary.

Nice place. You will enjoy desert safari in India's highest point. Double humps camel ride, sand dunes and lovely views.
Archana M — Google review
The Nubra Valley is an amazing sand dunes desert at high altitude, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. It’s known as a high-altitude desert and is located just a few kilometers from Khardung La Pass. When you visit Nubra Valley, you must try the camel safari. The two-humped camels found there are rare and can only be seen here in Nubra Valley, Ladakh, India. And for the camel ride they usually charge around ₹500 per person I'm not sure about the current price. If you want to experience the starlit sky, you can stay at one of the camps in Nubra Valley. Talking about the route from Khardung La to Nubra Valley is absolutely beautiful. The road is straight in most parts, and along the way, you’ll come across small water crossings, stunning mountains, widely spread desert landscapes, and much more. We really enjoyed the drive the scenic roads, the weather, and the whole experience. When you're visiting Leh Ladhak you must visit Nubra Valley if possible then from bike. However, make sure to reach your destination before sunset, as there’s little to no street lighting, which can make traveling difficult after dark.

Good Place to spend a lazy afternoon. Slightly over crowded. On the bed of Sayok river a river created small dessert formed on 1929. Bactrian camel rides, archery etc events. Can be done there.

Nubra Valley: A Hidden Gem of Ladakh Nubra Valley, nestled in the northernmost part of Ladakh, is often called the “Valley of Flowers of Ladakh.” Surrounded by the majestic Karakoram and Ladakh ranges, it’s where barren mountains meet lush green oases, creating a surreal contrast that’s truly breathtaking. Situated at around 10,000 feet above sea level, the valley is accessed via the famous Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Nubra is home to the Shyok and Nubra rivers, whose waters nourish the valley, making it unexpectedly fertile. Key highlights include: • Diskit Monastery: The largest and oldest monastery in Nubra, known for its giant Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley. • Hunder Sand Dunes: A cold desert where you can ride the rare Bactrian (double-humped) camels, once used in ancient Silk Route trade. • Turtuk: A beautiful village with Balti culture, offering a peek into life near the Indo-Pak border. Nubra’s charm lies in its serene beauty, mix of cultures, and the feeling of being in a world untouched by time.

Visiting the Hunder Sand Dunes was an unforgettable experience! The landscape is absolutely surreal — golden sand surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Watching the double-humped Bactrian camels walking across the dunes at sunset felt like a scene from another world. The place is peaceful, and the cold desert wind adds to its charm. It’s a must-visit spot in Nubra Valley, especially in the evening when the light gets magical.

Hunder Sand Dunes, located in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, offer a unique and surreal experience amidst the stark Himalayan landscape. Unlike any other desert in India, these cold desert dunes lie at an altitude of around 10,000 feet, surrounded by towering mountains and the Shyok River. The contrast of white sand against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks creates a magical and dreamlike setting. One of the main attractions at Hunder is the rare double-humped Bactrian camels, once used on the ancient Silk Route. A short camel ride across the dunes is a popular activity and gives visitors a glimpse into the region’s trade history. As the sun sets, the golden hues over the dunes and mountains create a stunning visual spectacle. The area is peaceful, with a few campsites and homestays offering comfortable stays. Bonfire nights under starry skies add to the charm of the experience. However, weather can be unpredictable, with temperatures dropping significantly at night. Hunder Sand Dunes are a must-visit for anyone exploring Ladakh, offering a perfect blend of nature, history, and adventure. It’s a place where the desert meets the mountains—unlike anything you’ll see elsewhere in the world.

The Hunder Sand Dunes were an unexpected surprise in the middle of the cold desert of Nubra Valley. The landscape is absolutely surreal—golden sand dunes surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The highlight for me was the ride on the Bactrian (double-humped) camels, something you won’t find in many places in India. Sunset here is magical, the entire area glows in warm tones. It’s a peaceful and serene spot to just walk around, click some amazing photos, and soak in the contrast of desert and mountains. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ladakh, don’t miss this unique experience.

Very scenic road from leh to nubra… people who are travelling to nubra valley using google maps.. please ensure that location of nubra valley in google maps is very far from hunder… nubra valley is basically a valley and you need to find stays in diskit or hunder or any other small villages. I’ve seen many people going to nubra valley just by searching in google maps. Hunder has many more options for stay than diskit.

Charming temple One room dedicated to Dalajlama 14th who visited this temple a few decades ago. Some photographs displayed on the walls showing this event. Temple has several praying rooms within inta complex. There is one particular with protectors of Buddha displaying scarry looking gods with covered faces. The view from the temple is spectacular. We visited for the sunset. Most visitors would go to the large buddha statue platform. We didn't go there, we visited the temple itself isntead. There is an entrance fee of 40 rupees (if i remember correctly) into the complex.

Alchi Monastery, also known as Alchi Choskhor, is a 1,000-year-old monastic complex located in Ladakh. Founded by Great Translator Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo, the complex consists of four temples housing ancient wall paintings and huge Buddha statues. The original murals and statues are considered the pinnacle of Ladakh's Indo-Tibetan art. While some temples have undergone partial renovation work, others maintain their originality with no renovations undertaken.

The views to the Alchi monastery is panoramic. Not many Indians visit this place since it’s far from Leh town. Highly recommending this spot to witness all the villages until this place, the local culture and the history attached. One of a kind monastery build by mud and hand painted Buddha life pictures.

Alchi Monastery was built, by the great translator Guru Rinchen Zangpo between 958 and 1055. Dukhang or Vairocana Lhakhang and the Main Temple Sum Tsek have been built in Kashmiri style. The third temple called the Manjushri Temple has impressive image of Manjushri. The Alchi complex has two other important temples, the Translator's temple called the 'Lotsabha Lakhang' and a new temple called the 'Lakhang Soma'. Now protected by Archaeological survey of India, photography is prohibited inside any of the temples.

Wonderful ancient Buddhist monastery. With 4 temples open to the public when I visited, I still remember the wooden carvings and religious wall paintings. Walking through these temples was a very special spiritual experience - one of my favourite monasteries in Ladakh, would definitely recommend! Note: Toilet are available at no cost, the monastery requires to leave phones and cameras in a locker before entering.

Alchi monastery is well worth the visit, with multiple small temples and beautiful murals, some of the oldest in Ladakh. You reach the complex through a pretty pathway lined with hawkers selling handicrafts, and many prayer wheels. The temples are peaceful and well managed, though the damage to some of the murals is apparent - through water seepage and structural issues. Would strongly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

The special place with Buddhist culture through Thangka paintings, giant statues and temple architecture from over 1000 years ago. Outside the temples are planted with many Ladakh apricot and apple trees... so, when I stepped inside I was overwhelmed by the mysterious beauty that has been preserved for thousands of years. So, I think that, this place you should visit when traveling to Ladakh.

Surrounded by majestic mountains, this peaceful spot provides an opportunity to contemplate nature's grandeur. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or a photography lover, this destination is a must-visit in Ladakh.

Beautiful place while you are doing local tour of Leh. The colours of two rivers meeting can be seen clearly. There are river rafting facilities available as well, make sure to carry spare clothes. You can also go near the river and spend time if the weather is favourable. The water is chilling cold.

Beautiful to see the river where my ancestors would have have drunk water and revered the Sindhu river. It meets the river Zanskar at this point so it’s beautiful and worth spending quiet moments there.
Vipul M — Google review
The confluence of River Indus and Zanskar is an awsome view. The place is commonly known as Sangam. One can see the beautiful confluence from Top or can do down, alongside river to see the two coloured water. The water of river Zanskar is blue green whereas the water of Indus river is bit muddy. The Sangam point has one restaurant (only this was open when we visited) where one can get to eat or book for rafting trip in river Zanskar. The place however has horrible washroom facility. These are basically closed small rooms with a hole on floor. Rafting trip can be taken for 8km (₹900/-), 16 km (₹1800) and 24km. The rafting trip of 8km is suitable for families with kids, as no one gets wet and you boat in still water. The trip of 16km and 24 km are for people looking for adventure. For additional ₹200/- transportation facility till the starting point of rafting can be taken. Since if you drive to the starting point and park your vehicle there, you end up rafting at Sangam point, then you will have ro go back to take your vehicle. If you have hired a taxi, they will also charge you extra to go till starting point. Wet suit and shoes or crocs are provided for the trip of 16km and 24km. Its better to take the trip in sunny weather as the water is really cold plus the wind makes it more cold. You can also bargain a bit depending season or number of tourist.
Jijo A — Google review
A truly magical place to see. You can clearly see the 2 rivers meeting each other and eventually flowing as one. There is snacks and coffee available next to this place. Also one can go for river rafting here where they will take you rafting on the sangam point. Things to consider before going for river rafting is the temperature of the water and if there is any heavy flow to the river which will make the rafting enjoyable. A must visit place.

Good tourist destination, one can witness the confluence of two rivers Indus and Zanskar. It's similar to that of Sangam in prayagraj i.e. the confluence of Ganga, Jamuna, Saraswati. It's a good place for photo sessions. One can capture various backgrounds.

Magnetic Hill

Magnetic Hill is a historical site in Leh Ladakh valley, known for its unique natural phenomenon where cars and water appear to move uphill against gravity. The location has gained popularity as a tourist attraction for those seeking to experience this inexplicable wonder. However, some have noted that the area's charm has been diminished due to the presence of small structures like cafeterias.
While the magic of the Magnetic Hill is an optical illusion, it has not stopped the creation of myths and lore about this phenomenon. This is more folklore than theory; the locals hold belief that a path to heaven once existed here.A common myth suggests that there is a magnetic anomaly or powerful magnetic field present at Magnetic Hill, which is responsible for the strange phenomenon. This belief is often fueled by the name "Magnetic Hill" itself, which implies a connection to magnetism. Some believe that the hill is a place of spiritual significance, where the laws of physics are suspended, and the boundary between the earthly and the supernatural is blurred. They believed that not everyone could experience this magic, only those deserving of heaven could. Some legends claim that Magnetic Hill was once home to an ancient civilization with advanced technology. According to these stories, the people of this civilization possessed knowledge of magnetic forces that allowed them to build structures and vehicles that could defy gravity. While these myths and legends add to the allure of Magnetic Hill, the scientific explanation behind the phenomenon is rooted in the principles of physics and optics. Nonetheless, these stories continue to be passed down through generations, adding to the mystique and magic of this natural wonder. It is said that there is a mysterious magnetic force emanating from the hill that pulls stationary vehicles within its range and makes them move uphill, though some contests that it is a mere optical illusion. The strange occurrence has been experienced and testified by travellers from all across the world. The Indus River flowing to the east of Magnetic Hill makes the surroundings a picture-perfect frame.Magnetic hill that is believed to defy gravity is located at a distance of 30km(s) from Leh on the Leh-Kargil Highway. Visited Magnetic Hill today — the so-called spot where your car is supposed to move uphill on its own, defying gravity. Like most people, I was curious and a bit excited to finally see this “anti-gravity” phenomenon that Leh is known for. But to be honest, it was underwhelming. We parked exactly on the marked spot, followed the instructions, and waited. Nothing. No mysterious pull, no uphill movement. Tried shifting into neutral, waited again — still nothing. Other vehicles around us seemed to have the same experience. I’d heard earlier that it was an optical illusion — that the layout of the surrounding hills creates a false sense of slope, making a downhill road appear to be uphill. And maybe once upon a time, that illusion did work. But now, with newly tarred roads, clearer surroundings, and our phone GPS showing actual elevation, the trick just doesn’t land anymore. You can actually see with the naked eye that the road slightly slopes downhill — so the mystery kind of dissolves. The location itself is scenic, no doubt. Vast open plains, dusty mountains, and the endless sky make for a great photo stop. But if you’re expecting some magnetic marvel — manage your expectations.
Utkersh B — Google review
I don’t see the magic everyone hyped for. Its a marked place by some people. Yes once your car engine put off, it gets moved, but it’s because of slope.
Pravin N — Google review
Visited July 19 2025 – Day 16 in India We spent a lovely afternoon at Magnetic Hill about 30 kilometers from Leh guided by our wonderful tour guide Angmo. She brought the place to life with her deep knowledge and warm storytelling. Though we did not notice any magnetic pull ourselves the experience was delightful and our two little girls ages 5 and 7 absolutely loved it. Magnetic Hill is a curious stretch of road locally famous as a gravity hill where vehicles parked in neutral appear to drift uphill defying logic. Many visitors believe in an unseen magnetic force while others explain it as an optical illusion shaped by the landscape and obstructed horizon. Mountains rising around the road trick the eye into misjudging the slope. Despite the science the legend of a road to heaven whispered by locals adds a layer of mystic charm. Angmo encouraged us to park the vehicle in a painted box on the road and though nothing dramatic occurred we took many photos capturing wide Himalayan panoramas and our girls giggling in wonder. The barren hills framed by distant snowy peaks and the flowing Indus River nearby offered a serene almost spiritual backdrop. Magnetic Hill holds significance as one of Ladakh’s most talked about roadside attractions. It is not just about whether the physics defy gravity it is about being in a striking high altitude landscape witnessing how perception and legend intertwine. The sense of mystery even subtle lingers in your memory long after you have continued driving along the Leh to Kargil road. Angmo’s gentle guidance enthusiasm and patience with our children made it even more special. She explained the theories shared stories of local folklore answered our endless questions and helped us feel connected to the land and its history. Although we did not feel our car being pulled upward what we experienced was far richer — the beauty of remote Ladakh framed by a whimsical myth joyful children exploring nature’s quirks and a guide who cared about our comfort and curiosity. I happily give Magnetic Hill four stars. It is a place where the landscape surprises you and stories unfold. With Angmo’s help it became a memory our family will cherish — a perfect blend of scenery intrigue and heartfelt guidance.

I visited Magnetic Hills last week while on a trip to Ladakh with my dad. On our second day in Leh, we rented a bike specifically to visit this spot since so many people had recommended it. Unfortunately, the actual destination turned out to be extremely underwhelming. It’s basically just a spot marked in the middle of a busy highway where you’re expected to stop your vehicle and “see the magic” — which, as it turns out, is just an optical illusion. No one told us it only works with four-wheelers, so being on a bike, we didn’t experience anything at all. The highway was bustling with fast-moving vehicles, yet ironically, no one was actually around at the Magnetic Hill spot. There’s an ATV, Viking ride, and zip-lining area set up on one side, but all of it was shut when we visited. So, after a long ride to get there, we ended up seeing… pretty much nothing. That said, I’m still giving this place 3 stars purely because the drive was stunning. The roads are beautifully maintained, and the landscape is absolutely gorgeous — that part made it worth it. We were stopped twice for an inner line permit check (which we had already arranged online), so just a heads-up if you’re planning to head that way. One local guy we met there told us that years ago, if you placed a compass on the marked spot, it wouldn’t point in any direction — but he said that doesn’t really happen anymore. I’m not sure how much of that is true, but it kind of sums up the vibe: cool in theory, not much in practice. Overall: a lovely drive, but unless you have loads of time and just want to be somewhere quiet, I wouldn’t recommend making Magnetic Hills a priority
Marium J — Google review
Magnetic hills are 30 mins away from Leh city and you can find it on the way to Indus-Zanskar ricer confluence point. The myth here is that bike or car automatically moves due to higher gravity but its only an optical illusion. However, you get amazing photos here if no one are around because its a straight road in the middle of the mountains. You can also do ATV ride nearby. It can also be a good pitstop as there are some eateries around.
Srikanth R — Google review
It's a neat and clean place and, the road is well built, the mountain background gives it a very romantic look. However the magnetic hill phenomena is a farce, the road is naturally going downhill and any stationery vehicle will start moving if brakes are not applied. Anyway because of magnetic hill propaganda it has become a nice tourist place.
Rajesh S — Google review
“Mind‑bending illusion and scenic stop on the Leh highway!” Magnetic Hill is a must‑stop on the Srinagar–Leh route, about 26 km west of Leh. You park in neutral at the marked box—and the vehicle appears to roll uphill, seemingly defying gravity. 🚗✨ It’s not mystic magnetism but a clever optical illusion caused by the layout of the surrounding terrain . Why it’s worth it A fun experience that sparks curiosity—great for all ages and surprisingly smooth to share with family Beautiful backdrop: rugged Himalayan peaks and the Indus River nearby Free and accessible all summer, with clear signage and easy parking

Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib is a historic Sikh temple located in the picturesque region of Ladakh, India. Situated at an altitude of 12,000 feet on the Leh-Kargil road, this gurudwara was built in 1517 to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev's visit to the area. The legend associated with this sacred place tells of a demon attempting to crush Guru Nanak Dev with a boulder while he meditated there.
Beautiful historical gurudwara sahib, in memory of Guru Nanak Dev ji. It is situated at an altitude of 12000 ft on Leh - Kargil road just 25 km from Leh, built in 1517 to commemorate the visit to this place of Guru Nanak Dev ji. A must visit place in Leh.

Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib in Leh is a very peaceful and beautiful place to visit. It is not just for Sikhs, but people from all religions come here, and everyone feels the same calm and positivity. The moment you enter, you get a sense of peace. The place is surrounded by mountains, and the view itself is so soothing. The gurudwara is very clean and well-maintained. The people who manage it are very kind and always welcoming. They make you feel at home. The best part is the langar (free food) they serve. It’s simple but very tasty, and eating there feels really nice because it’s made with love and served with respect. There is also a story behind the gurudwara about Guru Nanak Ji and the rock (pathar), which makes the place even more special. You can actually see the rock inside, and it feels very spiritual. One thing I really liked was how everyone is treated equally here. You sit together, eat together, and pray together. The atmosphere is very positive, and it gives you a break from the busy or tiring travel schedules of Leh. If you are visiting Leh, this is a must-visit place. It’s not just about religion; it’s about peace, kindness, and humanity. I felt really calm and happy after spending time here, and I would definitely suggest others to visit too. For me, it was a very heart-touching experience.

We visited the Gurudwara on 13th September 2025. The atmosphere was truly soothing and calming, offering a deep sense of peace the moment we entered. There was no ticket or waiting period required, which made the visit very convenient. It was not crowded, and the Langar was being served, adding to the spiritual experience. What made it even more special was seeing Army personnel humbly performing the service, which was both inspiring and heartwarming. This is undoubtedly one of the must-visit places in Leh, not just for its religious significance but also for the serenity and devotion it embodies.

A Peaceful Experience at Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji (Visited on 14th June 2025) During our journey to Leh from Kargil, my friends and I had the privilege of visiting Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji on 14th June 2025. Nestled at an elevation of 12,000 feet above sea level, this sacred place is a true embodiment of peace and spirituality. The serene and tranquil atmosphere of the gurdwara amidst the rugged mountains is an experience that touches the soul. The Gurdwara Pathar Sahib is not just a place of worship, but a significant historical site. It is believed that the divine power of Guru Nanak Ji played a crucial role in the establishment of this gurdwara. According to legend, the story goes that a massive boulder, which was thrown by a local demon to harm the Guru, miraculously turned into a soft rock upon Guru Nanak Ji’s blessings. The boulder is still preserved inside the gurdwara, and visitors can view it as a symbol of divine intervention and Guru Nanak’s unwavering spiritual strength. This story reflects the power of faith and the divine grace of Guru Nanak Ji, offering deep spiritual insight to all those who visit. Upon reaching the gurdwara, we were struck by the beautifully constructed structure against the backdrop of the majestic mountains. The peaceful sound of gurbani (holy hymns) playing in the background as we entered the premises added a sense of serenity and calm. The crisp air at such a high altitude only enhanced the sense of tranquility, as though the very essence of peace was emanating from the surroundings. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Matt from Chicago and Marie from Germany, who were touring India on their motorcycles. They were such jolly and warm-hearted individuals, and we immediately connected with them. It was wonderful to share stories, laugh, and bond with these two travel enthusiasts who had come from opposite corners of the world but found themselves united in this sacred place. Their positive energy and genuine kindness added to the overall warmth of the experience. The location of Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji, situated in the Leh region of Jammu and Kashmir, makes it an ideal stop for anyone traveling between Kargil and Leh. The scenic drive, along with the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, adds to the overall beauty of the experience. The humble and simple food offered at the langar (community kitchen) was wholesome and nourishing, further enhancing the feeling of unity and brotherhood among all visitors. It was a moment of togetherness, where we shared food with people from different parts of the world, all bound together by the spirituality of Guru Nanak Ji. Visiting Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji was more than just a spiritual experience—it was a reminder of the timeless lessons of love, compassion, and faith taught by Guru Nanak Ji. Khardung La Pass is a renowned high mountain pass situated in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, India. At an elevation of 17,852 feet, it is one of the highest motorable roads globally and offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks. Visitors can drive or bike through this pass, but it's crucial to acclimatize properly to avoid altitude sickness.
Second highest pass in the world made by BRO. It is at the height of about 17982 feet from the sea level. During this visit experienced the thrill of gusty winds and very cold weather. Breathlessness is compulsory here. Must be aware of land slides here. Overall good experience though.

At a height of 17982ft or 5480m, this is really high. We were there in mid-June 2025. We got some cloudy weather while driving up, but we saw snowfall taking place for some time. At the top we had the best time ever. Amazing serene setup. Temperature was below zero and light snowfall. Please park your vehicles securely and ensure you are not blocking others.

It was a great experience at Khardungla with snow all around. This place is not generally clad with snow during the month of August, we were lucky to get so much snow there. You are advised to stay there for a short period of time as oxygen level gets reduced there. A must visit for a halt for all those exploring Ladakh.

Visiting Khardung La Pass was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Ladakh. Located around 39 km from Leh, it is often described as one of the highest motorable passes in the world, and the journey to reach here is as breathtaking as the destination itself. The drive from Leh took me through winding mountain roads with spectacular views of snow-clad peaks, deep valleys, and shifting clouds. The higher I went, the thinner the air felt, but the excitement of finally standing at such altitude kept me going. At the top, I was greeted by the famous Khardung La signboard and an incredible 360-degree panorama that is almost impossible to put into words. Snow was scattered around even in summer, and the crisp cold wind made the moment feel even more surreal. There are small stalls serving hot tea and Maggi noodles, which feel like a luxury at this altitude. A hot cup of tea with snow all around you is an experience I’ll never forget. I also saw a few Indian Army personnel, and it’s humbling to realize how strategic this pass is for them while it serves as an adventure spot for us. That said, it’s important to be prepared. The oxygen level is quite low, and I felt slightly breathless and light-headed within minutes of reaching the top. I had taken a day to acclimatize in Leh, which really helped, but I still wouldn’t recommend staying up here for too long. Warm clothing is a must—the temperature drops suddenly, and the wind can be biting cold. The road conditions are mixed. While BRO (Border Roads Organisation) has done an incredible job in maintaining the route, certain stretches remain rough, bumpy, and narrow. Drivers need to be careful, and it’s better to avoid rushing. The ride is thrilling but also demanding, especially for bikers. Another thing to keep in mind is the crowd. Khardung La is very popular, and sometimes the small parking space at the top gets congested with cars and bikes waiting for photos. A little patience goes a long way here. Overall, Khardung La is not just a tourist spot but an achievement. The views, the thrill of the journey, and the sense of standing so high above the clouds make it absolutely worth it. If you plan wisely, acclimatize properly, and carry the right gear, this is an adventure you will cherish forever. ---

Khardung La is a high mountain pass in the Ladakh region of India, located about 40 km north of Leh, serving as the gateway to the Shyok and Nubra valleys. It has an elevation of approximately 5,359 meters (17,582 feet). The pass is significant for its strategic importance to the Indian Army for supplying the Siachen Glacier, and for its status as a popular destination for adventure tourists, particularly motorcyclists. To visit, travelers require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) and should be mindful of the risks of altitude sickness due to the extremely low oxygen levels at its height

Beautiful palace located just outside of the Leh city, with amazing views of Leh and the surrounding areas. It's the current residence of the ex-royal family and also a heritage hotel. Only the lower floors, where the museum is located, are open to public. The museum is ok and holds many historical artifacts from the royal family and other places in Ladakh. There's a small restaurant and a cafe. It feels nice to just sit at the cafe and take in the view. Avoid going here around 1 PM because it's their lunch time and they won't let you in.

Thiksey Monastery, situated about 20 km from Leh, is the largest monastery in Ladakh. Built in the mid-1400s, it features temples, a nunnery, and an array of Buddhist art including various Buddha statues. The monastery offers stunning panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Visitors can explore the colorful complex with informative placards providing details about the Wheel of Life.
Thiksey Monastery is a must-visit in Ladakh, often called the “mini Potala Palace.” It offers breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings, and a stunning 49-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha. The morning prayers and ancient murals add to its charm. Truly a serene and spiritual experience.

If you only have time to visit one place in the Leh Valley, or even just one monastery while here, then choose Thiksey. It is the most incredible, otherworldly place I’ve ever been. The views across the valley to the high Himalaya and the outside architecture are only the beginning. Highly recommend arriving for morning Puja which starts around 6am and can last until 9am. The prayers start with the sounding of enormous horns across the valley, something that has to be experienced to be understood. The monks are happy to chat and the younger monks in training are particularly keen to hear about where you’re from and what you think of their home. Truly a priceless experience.

Thiksey Monastery truly takes your breath away. Built on a hilltop, it looks majestic from a distance, and even more mesmerizing up close. The morning prayers with the monks are a deeply spiritual experience — peaceful chants echoing as the sun rises over the valley. The views are incredible, and the giant Maitreya Buddha statue inside is awe-inspiring. A visit here feels grounding and serene — a must-see in Leh.

While coming back from Pangong Lake to Leh this was our first sightseeing. We also had Ranchos school in the list but unfortunately it was closed due to then ongoing protest. This monastery was open and we went and enjoyed the lovely architecture of this place. Situated at a hill top the view from this place is amazing. There are many temples here actually so you have to visit one by one. One temple had the big buddha statue which was my favourite spot. Very peaceful and calm place. You can surely visit here on your way back to Leh.

Visited the monastery on a rainy day. ⛩️ The view of the hill was getting mesmerizing with every step. The mural painting was outstanding! 🌟 Came to know about the Shri Devi Temple which is at the top. In the temple no women were allowed to enter except the family-women of the Ladakh Queen and the Queen herself. Visit & Enjoy! ⛩️

There are different temples once you reach the top, take your time to explore and take in the views of Leh. Worth a visit if you enjoy Buddhist temples, can skip if you have already seen similar places before.

Visited July 22 and 23, 2025 – Days 19 & 20 in India Our journey from Nubra Valley toward Pangong Lake and later returning to Leh via Chang La was every bit as thrilling as it sounds. With our driver Hadi expertly navigating the curving switchbacks and steep gradients of this high mountain pass, it felt like riding the spine of the Himalayas. The drive was at once terrifying and exhilarating. We were climbing to over 17,500 feet—thin air, jagged cliffs, snow patches, and icy slush made every turn heart‑pounding. The road was as stunning as it was unforgiving: bumpy, rocky stretches alternated with smoother blacktop, and occasional washouts or sand patches meant Hadi had to keep us steady through it all. Meanwhile my daughters, five and seven, were blissfully unaware. Most of the way they slept curled up on my lap, oblivious to the massive peaks, the breaths we held, and the yaks grazing by the roadside below. But even in sleep they stirred with joy at sudden views of snow‑dusted ridges and snow-covered glaciers shining in the sunlight. We saw many yaks standing like silent sentinels amid the barren landscape. Army‑run tea stalls at the summit offered piping hot beverages and a much‑needed warmth in freezing air that could bite even in July. This was definitely a five‑star experience—equal parts awe‑inspiring scenery, adrenaline rush, and peaceful high‑altitude magic. Highly recommend it if you love breathtaking drives that test your nerves and leave you feeling alive.

[visited in September] Located at an altitude of about 5,328 meters, Tanglang La is one of the highest motorable passes in the world. As you approach Tanglang La, the landscape slowly changes into a desolate, almost surreal world. The mountains are barren, the green is becoming more and more sparse, and the rocks turn into shades of grey, beige and copper. The road winds uphill, with sharp hairpin bends and views that become more and more impressive. At the top, there are prayer flags fluttering in the wind, a colorful and spiritual addition to the rugged environment. Tanglang La is one of those places that leaves a deep impression; it is a journey through nature, but also an inner experience in which you fully feel the power and serenity of the Himalayan mountains.

Tso Moriri Lake is honestly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in my life. Sitting at over 15,000 ft, it feels like the whole world slows down when you get here. The lake is this deep shade of blue that keeps changing with the light, and it’s surrounded by bare brown mountains with snowy peaks far away – the contrast is just unreal. The silence around the lake is something you don’t really find anywhere else. Compared to Pangong, this place is way less crowded and that’s what makes it so peaceful. It hasn’t been commercialized too much, so you really get to enjoy nature in its raw form. The road to Tso Moriri is a bit tough and the drive long, but every turn gives you a new picture-perfect view. On the way, we spotted some wild kiang (Tibetan wild asses) and marmots just hanging around, which was super fun. The small Korzok village next to the lake is also worth exploring – the monastery there is calming and the locals are really welcoming. Staying overnight was the highlight for me. At night, the sky literally explodes with stars. I’ve never seen the Milky Way so clearly – it felt magical. Just make sure to take it slow because of the high altitude; oxygen is thin up here. If you’re someone who loves quiet places, mountains, and raw nature, Tso Moriri is an absolute must-visit. It’s not just a trip, it’s an experience that stays with you.

Less crowded than Pangong and honestly more peaceful. The drive is long but so beautiful. The lake looks like a painting, especially at sunset. Nights here are silent and full of stars — pure bliss if you love calm places. Take chumur route from Hanle side. What a beautiful road, I think it has recently opened for public. You can see other side of tso morriri in that route

The deep blue water set against snow-capped mountains is unforgettable. The trip is 5 hrs from leh, but every moment is worth it.

It's one of the world's highest sweet water lakes . The place is still offbeat and offers a pristine and quiet environment. The place has not been commercialised like Pangong Lake . But a visit to Tso Moriri is a must. Karzok is the place to stay near this lale.
