Shri Mahavir Ji Temple, Karauli Jain temples are some of the most famous temples in Rajasthan. One of these is Shri Mahavir Ji Temple, located in the Karauli district in Rajasthan. However, even though the name may suggest otherwise, there are five temples in this temple complex. Each is as grand and splendid as the other in terms of architecture and magnificence. The five temples are Atishaya Kshetra Shri Mahavirji, Bhagwan Parshvanath Jinalaya, Shantinath Jinalaya and Kirti Ashram Chaityalaya. There is something special about each of these temples. At the Atishaya Kshetra Temple, the Manastambha, also known as the Column of Pride, is the main attraction. Standing at almost 52ft, it is topped by Tirthankaras staring in four directions. The Bhagan Jinalaya Temple is also called kaanch ka mandir (temple of mirrors), because of its spectacular mirror work. The Shantinath Jinalaya is most famous for its 32 ft statue of Shantinath (the 16th Jain Tirthankar). There are five temples in Shri Mahavirji. Atishaya Kshetra Shri Mahavirji is considered one of the miraculous pilgrimages of Jains. This pilgrimage is situated at banks of Gambhir river in Hindaun Block of Karauli district, Rajasthan.[3][4] Built at the bank of a river, this pilgrimage is a prominent centre of devotion for Digambar Jain devotees. Chandanpur Mahavirji temple is hailed as the heart of pilgrimages. The temple is visited by millions of Jain and Hindu devotees every year.[5] The temple trust extends various charitable and philanthropic services such as a dispensary, aushadhalaya (pharmacy), school, library, rehabilitation centre, promotion and extension of education, cultural and literary activities, scholarships, and research and study in Prakrit language.[5] The temple also has a naturopathy and yoga centre.[6] History edit The temple was constructed by a Digambar Jain merchant, Shri Amar Chand Bilala, in the 17th century upon the discovery of the idol of Mahavira.[7][5][8] This is a sacred place of the tradition of Jainism. Mahavirji also had a Bhattaraka seat which became defunct in 1970.[9] Discovery of the Idol edit The famous idol of Mahavira at Shri Mahavirji The main temple contains the statue of the lord Mahavira and along with idols of other Tirthankaras.[8] The 'Mulnayak pratima' (main statue) is nearly 78 centimetres (2.56 ft) high and is carved out of sandstone. In this statue lord Mahavira is sitting in padmasana posture.[10] The iconic idol of Lord Mahavira, the principal deity of the pilgrimage temple, was found during an excavation. It was later found to be more than 1000 years old. A Gurjar dairy farmer named Krapa Ram noticed that one of his cows was always dry of milk. When cow belonging used to pour out its milk every day upon a mound near Chandanpur village. It was surprising for the owner of that cow and the villagers. They excavated the mound and found the idol of lord Mahaveer. The villagers dedicated themselves to building a small hut over the idol where the idol was found. The place is now known as devata-ka tilla or chharan chatri. The news of the miracles idol spread and a Jain merchant, Shri Amar Chand Bilala visited the site and realised that it was a Jain idol. The King of Jaipur tried to execute the merchant but was saved by the miracles of the idol. Shri Amar Chand Bilala constructed a vast & magnificent temple here.[7] According to legends, while trying to move the idol on a chariot to the temple constructed a few yards from the excavation site, the chariot did not move. Amar Chand Bilala prayed for the idol to move and the god replied that the chariot will move when Krapa Ram pushes the cart. At the site where the idol was excavated a small shrine chharan chatri with the representation of the footprint of the deity was constructed. The shrine is still managed by the family of Krapa RamShri Mahavir Ji Temple, Karauli Jain temples are some of the most famous temples in Rajasthan. A peaceful and serene place to visit! Shri Mahavir Ji is a beautiful Digambar Jain temple that offers a calm atmosphere for prayer and reflection. The morning Abhishekh for Bhagwan Shri Mahavir Ji starts exactly at 6:30 AM, so be sure to arrive on time to be part of this special ritual. For men, dhotis and dupattas are provided, but you’ll need to take a shower in the changing room before wearing them, even if you've already showered before coming to the temple. It’s a small thing but helps maintain the temple’s cleanliness and sanctity. The Dharamshala has plenty of rooms to rest, with both AC and non-AC options. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean, making it easy to relax after a visit to the temple. Overall, it’s a perfect place to connect with your spirituality and find some peace. Highly recommend visiting!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Harshad Mata Temple is a beautiful temple located 33 kilometers from Dausa, next to the Chand Baori stepwell. It is dedicated to Harshat Mata, the goddess of joy and happiness. The temple's magnificent architecture and intricate sculptural styles are a visual delight.
This temple is an ASI protected monument. The temple is dated back to 8-9th Century and was constructed by King Chand or Chandra of Nikumbha dynasty. It is said that it was this king who had established Abhaneri (earlier known as Abha Nagri – the city of brightness). This east facing temple (an example of Mahmeru style) was built on a raised platform. The sanctum is pancharatha on plan (a hindu temple could be triratha, panchratha, saptaratha or navrathain on plan) with pillared mandapa (a mandapa is the entrance to the temple, it maybe a portico or colonnaded (series of columns placed at regular intervals) hall that incorporates space for large number of worshipers). The temple has a sculpted niche on each buttress of the wall. The sanctum is enclosed by an ambulatory. The cardinal niches show Vishnu (Vasudeva), Balrama (Sanakarshana) and Pradyumna on the south, north and west, indicating that the original temple was dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Presently it enshrines an image of a Devi locally called Harshat Mata (Goddess of happiness). This temple is definitely worth a visit for the beautiful sculptures which are a reflection on the society that was, our beautiful heritage.

The Harshad Mata Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located just opposite to the famous Chand Baori stepwell in Rajasthan. It' approximately 25 kms from pupular Mehandipur Balaji temple. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Harshat Mata, believed to be the goddess of joy and happiness. Built during the 8th-9th century by the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty. Plenty of parking available.

I was there at noon so the temple was almost empty. The temple is located right next to the Chand Baori step well. At first, I didn't know it was the temple there. My curiosity took me to the temple. It was a small temple, yet it was old, quiet and beautiful. I had to say its architecture and design were super impressive. I spent some time there to pray and look around.

Showcases stunning Rajasthani architecture, with intricate carvings and sculptures. Though partially in ruins, it remains an important religious and historical site. The temple is closely associated with the Chand Baori, one of India’s deepest stepwells. A major festival and fair is held here annually, attracting devotees and tourists. This temple stands as a significant cultural and historical landmark, reflecting the rich heritage of Rajasthan.

The temple is dedicated to Harshat Mata, who is considered to be the goddess of joy and "Happiness". The temple was built in the 9th century AD by King Chand of the Chahamana dynasty. It is built in the Solanki architectural style and is decorated with intricate carvings and sculptures. The temple complex includes a sanctuary, a mandapa, and a pradakshina path. One of the most unique features of the temple is the series of projecting balconies that run along the exterior walls. These balconies are decorated with sculptures of gods, goddesses, and mythical creatures. The temple is also known for its stunning ceiling, which is adorned with beautiful frescoes depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. The frescoes are still visible today and have been restored in recent years. Harshat Mata Mandir is a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims alike. It is located near the famous Chand Baori stepwell, which is also a popular tourist attraction. The temple's ancient architecture, intricate carvings, and rich history make it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Indian culture and heritage.

Good place to visit in summers. Do carry waterbottle while going in canter/gypsy. Canter price around 700 something for indian person. One local guide will be available in canter. Online booking can be done one day prior.
Priyanka B — Google review
Overall experience was good. If you want gypsy then book it in advance otherwise canter will be available. Check time slots before visiting. Chances of tiger sighting is low but if you are lucky enough you can sight tiger
Mohit Y — Google review
There are 2 slots for the safari. One at 6:30 and another at 13:30. Gypsies can be only booked online. In-person booking only offers canter vans. It is recommended to book your slot one day prior (if online) or you can book on the same day (if offline). The safari is of a good 150 to 180 minutes and gypsies offer a better experience than canter vans.

It is lovely place to explore, don't expect much in terms of spotting a Tiger. As Sariska is a huge area and limited tigers are there. As per my recent trips only 12 tigers are there in the whole Sariska Reserve. But Jeep Safari is enjoyable and much fun. If you are planning to go there, better visit in Summer as Summer is the best time to spot the Tiger.

Bhangarh Fort

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Bhangarh Fort is a historic complex with the remains of Hindu temples, royal palaces, and tombs. Located about 90 km from Jaipur, it is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and the state government. Despite its reputation as one of India's most haunted places, visitors have found it to be a well-constructed and beautifully designed fort. The interior buildings are poorly maintained in some areas, but guides are available to explain the fort's history.
A must visit place while visiting Jaipur. Bhangarh Fort is an absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing place to visit! The fort is surrounded by hills on three sides, offering stunning open views and fresh, clean air all around. The area is very neat and well-maintained. On the way to the fort, there’s an old abandoned market about 300 meters long, the ancient ruins give a glimpse into history. The path is lined with huge old banyan trees whose vines touch the ground and form new roots, which looks magical. Inside and around the fort, there are several ancient temples, monkeys, and even peacocks roaming freely. The views from the fort are breathtaking, especially in the morning or late afternoon. Some inner chambers have a strong smell because of bats hanging from the ceilings, so it’s hard to go inside. Overall, Bhangarh Fort is peaceful, scenic, and full of history. Definitely worth visiting if you love heritage and nature.
GAURAV K — Google review
Bhangarh Fort is a fascinating historical site with incredible architecture and stories that take you back in time. The fort complex is vast, with ample parking available, and local Hindi-speaking guides at the entrance make the visit more engaging with their tales of history and folklore. The entry ticket for Indian guests is very reasonable at just ₹25. While the fort’s upkeep could be better—with limited maintenance, no clean washrooms, and monkeys freely roaming around—the charm of the ruins and the atmosphere more than make up for it. A must-visit for history and heritage lovers.
The L — Google review
★★Description★★ Bhangarh Fort, located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, is widely known as the "Most Haunted Place in India". Constructed in the 17th century by Raja Madho Singh, the fort once stood as a thriving town with palaces, temples, and a bustling marketplace, all showcasing a blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. However, its prosperity was short-lived, with its ruins now shrouded in chilling local legends, most famously involving a sorcerer's curse on the beautiful Princess Ratnavati and an ascetic, Guru Balu Nath, whose condition about the fort's shadow was violated. The Archaeological Survey of India has legally prohibited entry into the fort premises after sunset and before sunrise due to its infamous reputation. Despite the eerie atmosphere and desolate nature of the ruins, Bhangarh remains a significant historical site and a major attraction for thrill-seekers and paranormal enthusiasts. ★★★ After visit, I think this wonderful place is one of the best forts in Rajasthan in case of ambiance. ★ No haunted activity is there. All forts of Rajasthan are closed at 6:30 PM (Plus minus 30 minutes for sun light). Inside this fort few number of leopards are found after sunset ( Source local people and Shop owner). Entry fees 25 rupees for Indian.(Cash Payment) Online Payment 20 rupees. A must visit palce in Rajasthan.
SAIKAT M — Google review
The place is claimed to be haunted but during the day of course there are no spooky vibes. In fact it's like just another fort. ASI renovation and restoration is going on. The guides tell intresting stories and it is recommended to hire one. Be careful of what you pay them since there in always scope of bargaining. There is nothing which offers anything to eat or drink within the fort and hence carry your own water. There is natural aquifier system with a baori or a stepwell which is intresting. The fort in itself is not very large and can be covered in 1-2 hours. Views after climbing to the top roof are impressive and give you the layout of the market, approach, fort walls and the temples within the fort. Cleanliness is a big issue and within the fort there is too much litter which we the citizenry have created. Approach is ok ok as it's a state highway. Beautiful views of the arravalis
Ajit B — Google review
Firstly, visit the place before sunset or reach not later than 4 in the evening because the guard will suggest doing it quickly. By the time I reached there, it was closed (5 o'clock in the evening), so I just conversed with the guards; they were very friendly, and there was a Hanuman temple at the entrance. The whole vibe was different. I was very excited to be there, and my sister was feeling low at the same time.

🏰 Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan – A Perfect Blend of History, Mystery & Natural Beauty 🙇‍♂️✨ I visited Bhangarh Fort on 27th June 2025, and my first reaction was — “Wow!” 🤩 This fascinating place truly feels like stepping into a living legend, where ancient stories whisper through every wall and corridor 📜💫. The fort’s majestic architecture, mysterious aura, and stunning natural surroundings gave me absolute goosebumps 🥶🛕. The path leading to the fort is beautifully lined with old banyan trees 🌳, their hanging vines creating an enchanting, almost magical atmosphere. Inside the fort, you’ll discover centuries-old temples, playful monkeys, and elegant peacocks moving freely 🐒🦚. The view from the top is breathtaking — especially during sunrise or sunset 🌄😍. Some inner chambers have a distinct smell and are home to bats 🦇, adding to the fort’s eerie and mysterious vibe 👻. No wonder it’s often called “the most haunted place in India” — every corner tells a silent tale from the past ⏳💀. Surrounded by the majestic Aravalli Hills ⛰️🌿, Bhangarh Fort offers a perfect mix of peace and thrill — ideal for history lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers 🔮📸✨. ⭐ Overall: A mesmerizing fusion of history, nature, and mystery — truly a must-visit destination for anyone craving an unforgettable experience in Rajasthan 🔥🔥🌟🙌🏻

"I recently visited Bhangarh Fort and was thoroughly impressed by its rich history and stunning architecture. The fort's unique blend of Hindu and Islamic styles is a testament to the region's cultural heritage. The panoramic views of the surrounding landscape from the royal palace are breathtaking. While the fort's haunted reputation adds an element of excitement, I didn't experience anything paranormal during my visit. The guides were knowledgeable and shared interesting stories about the fort's history and legends. The fort is well-maintained, and the temples and palaces are still intact. I recommend visiting during the winter months (November to February) for the best experience. Be prepared for a moderate hike and wear comfortable shoes. Overall, Bhangarh Fort is a must-visit destination for history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a unique experience. I'm glad I had the opportunity to explore this incredible piece of India's past."

It was good to visit over there and diving into the history of Bhangarh fort. While going to the top there was a small area which was stinging too much due to the presence of bats. Good to go during October - April. Nature beauty is there and pics also come ausmn. If it is raining then do go in rubber slippers because you will confront the water coming from the nearby water falls.

Airy quarters in a laid-back hotel offering a restaurant & a terrace, plus countryside views.
Memorable staying in such a historical accommodation. Comfortable room, great views of Madhogarh village, sunset and sunrise. Heater/hot water issues but a small sacrifice for the experience.

We loved our experience and accommodation. The host / owner was a delight and informative. I would highly recommend a stay and walk around the village.
Shauna W — Google review
In 30 years of backpacking this unquestionably been the most hideous place I have ever stayed. No running water, no ac, dirty sheets, beds akin to a lumpy pallet, smelly towels, the toilet doesn’t flush, no working power sockets, there’s more bugs than a tropical rainforest and the food belongs in a 1920’s prison. Warm beer, no ice, zero help from the staff. The scenery is nice however I would not set foot anywhere near Fort Madogarh. If there was a negative number to give on a review I would be giving minus figures.
Gill P — Google review
Fantastic stay as part of our Intrepid tour. We stayed in room 101, the best room. We enjoyed dinner in the courtyard and a Sunrise breakfast on the rooftop. We spoke with the owner and toured the local village. A must see
Sonia T — Google review
A building of great character and interest, BUT the staff mostly had an extremely 'can't be bothered' attitude, the plumbing was very poor. The beer was served warm until we complained, the buffet dinner was average but the breakfast was very poor compared with all other Indian hotels we have stayed in. A dog in the hotel yard barked hourly and kept many of us awake. It could be so much better given good management and better staff.

Condition from outside may not seem attractive....but interior is amazing...stay may cost 5000 per room approx.. but facility provided are also amazing. Staff is also jovial calm and very friendly. The local people have nice personality they are really very helpful. Foreigners often visit this fort. Local transports are also available for this place.

We visited Fort Madogarh during winter and had a very comfortable stay. The staff are wonderful and our room was an absolute delight. What other reviewers say is true, there were blackouts, but personally the experience we had here was significantly better than several 3 and 4 star hotels in the bigger cities and the people working here made it a delight. I was able to live out a dream of staying in a castle and while some other places we stayed were more fully renovated, they didn't have the spectacular views and the smiling staff. We visited with intrepid and for me this was the absolute highlight of our trip.

Oh no. I didn't have a great time here, mostly because there were a lot of bugs in the room. The fort is fun to explore, definitely a playground. The history is amazing, the views are impressive. And the staff is so kind that I hate to leave a sad review. No AC, weak wifi (only in common area), no hot water -- not problems. So many bugs (particularly spiders) in the room is a problem for me. I stayed here as part of an Intrepid tour, and it was by far my least favorite moment. Others in my tour group said it was their favorite stay of the trip, so I think it really depends on which room you get.

My family enjoyed our time at the Elephant Safari Park. Shoyab was very informative and friendly. He shared a lot of information about Asian elephants and particularly about Muskan who is the lovely 22 year old elephant we interacted with today. We were introduced to Muskan and Arif (Handler) and were able to pet her to form a bond. Following that we all had an opportunity to ride Muskan around the acreage and followed that by feeding and painting her. The painting is using natural colors and is a tradition in Jaipur. We recommend this experience to anyone who wants a more private and personal interaction with elephants. Our hotel (Umaid Bhavan) arranged driver/tour guide Manu arranged this experience for us but you can also arrive here direct. Prices vary depending on how long of an experience you are seeking. We paid $2800 Rupees per person for a 1.5/2 hour experience.

AMAZING. Elephants are unbelievably friendly. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Their goal is to let you have fun with the elephants and experience being their care taker. The elephants are very cared for and not exploited for anything. They get to hang out with their friends all day. Worth every penny. Drinks included but Lunch is no longer part of the day since the pandemic. Spent about 1.5 hours enjoying the company of Payal, Tara and Anu. Sent them a WhatsApp message for booking the day before. They come and pick you up and drop off. Payal was our favorite and was a lovely canvas for our Seattle Skyline! The paint is a chalk based paint that is safe for the elephants and you wash it off after just a few minutes. If you want a ride, it is only for a couple minutes to keep it safe for the elephants as they can handle a little ride but anything longer will hurt them.

This elephant safari and overall visit to Haathi Gaon is one of the best experience I had in my entire life. This experience is just amazing and worth every penny. The care-takers and managers have in-depth knowledge of everything about elephants and they eagerly describe you everything about them. This sanctuary offers a unique opportunity to connect with elephants in a nurturing environment. Visitors can engage in activities like feeding and painting these gentle giants using natural dyes, which adds a creative twist to your experience. The well-maintained property reflects a deep commitment to the elephants' needs, ensuring they are cared for while providing guests with an enriching visit.
Very memorable experience here with my family in October 2024. Everyone had a great time feeding and petting the elephants and giving them a shower. Being a family full of animal lovers, we really liked the chance to directly interact and spend time with the elephants for so long. This was a very unique experience. We can't praise and thank Ankit and his team enough for making our visit so memorable and hospitable.

Found this amazing sanctuary through a YouTube travel channel. What an absolutely amazing experience. The interaction we had with Shoba will forever remain with us. A true gentle giant. We particularly liked feeding her the bananas (which she also loved) and washing the artwork off after. Would highly recommend! Ankit was helpful with our booking and did everything to ensure we had a wonderful experience. Again, this is a sanctuary that cares for the elephants and not a commercial enterprise like the others nearby.
Savitri B — Google review
Our driver booked a special one on one session with an elephant via Ankit. This was an absolutely wonderful experience with Ankit providing great knowledge and experience. As far as I can tell, the setup seems to be as follows: The site holds 80 elephants of which 15 are owned by one person on behalf of which Ankit manages the welfare of those elephants. There is zero subsidies provided by the government, and the cost of looking after the elephants is covered via tours. The elephants are generally rescued from banner animal circuses and looked after to death at the sanctuary. Without the tourism support, the sanctuary would not exist. Note, you cannot simply let the elephants out into the wild as they have no skill set to survive without human intervention. We spent over an hour with a 35 year-old female elephant called Ladoo. She was very calm and it was an enlightening experience to spend time with such a wonderful large animal. Ludoo had one eye missing following abuse at the circus , however she seemed very happy and, as you would expect, ate a lot of food! You cannot ride the elephants the Ankit is responsible for - another reason we chose this company. I would highly recommend Ankit and this company - you are supporting the welfare of elephants and also leave with a smile!

This was my first time to visit Elephant Village in Jaipur. First when I reached, the staff explained all about the elephants and EleJungle. There were many activities to do here. All activities fee will be used in various occasion such as elephant food, elephant hospital. Unfortunately, I came in Summer season, it was really hot here. So, I could only feed the elephants (because I didn’t want to ride on the elephant during hot weather-not for me but for elephant. Overall, I like this place. It's a must-visit for animal lovers who want to bond with these gentle creatures without riding them. The place offers an extraordinary opportunity to witness the love and care provided to these once mistreated animals.
Please do NOT ride an elephant as a tourist in India. Instead come here and have an amazing experience from start to finish. Could possibly be the best thing we did in our three weeks here. You must book in advance. After we were treated to beautiful Indian hospitality and had a meal at someone’s home. Very delicious. Everyone is super caring and wonderful.

This is an incredible and genuine experience! If you want to have a close-up encounter with an elephant and not the cruel elephant rides at Amber Fort, this is the place to go. Here, elephants have been rescued from bad treatment and are truly happy. The people here truly care for the animals and give you lots of time to pet, scratch, cuddle, and walk the elephants. The entire staff is really friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and within 3 hours there is plenty of time to bond with your elephant. In my case it was Padma, a really sweet girl. Afterwards, we had a delicious lunch prepared by the owner's mother. Not only is she a fantastic cook but a very sweet lady, who makes you feel welcome at her home. It gives this experience another special personal touch. Everybody on this trip makes you feel at home, starting from the very friendly driver to the handlers of the animals to the guide who gives you detailed information about the elephants and the owner and his mother. A big recommendation if you want to stay away from the commercial road-side elephant experiences and still want to interact with the animals. Short note: Here is only the location of the office and booking service. The experience takes place near Amber Fort at a large open area where there is enough space for the elephants.

Safety and tourist care is on point. You may get many different activities ( like, painting on them using natural colour provided by them, introduction with elephants, feeding them, riding nd so on)with elephant , you can have combo pack or whatever as you like. They would explain you so well. But disclaimer: you will find so much tourists guide on road, in case of guiding elefriend ( local: hati gaon), they are absolutely scam, don't fall on trap.

One of the best experiences in my whole Asian trip. Kabeer, his little cousin and his whole family are all very friendly people, they are helpful without even asking for a special tip for any single action (like it is in so many other places). The Elefriend Village is a Village with many many many elephants (over 100) living in it. Even more elephants than people. We did sit around and had a little talk to find out what exactly we want to do. There are many different things that you can do. So we climbed on the elephant (no fear, the animal even helps you up) and did a ride together with the rider sitting in front. After we did got a little safer feeling about it we even where allowed to ride the elephant all by our own (everyone had his own one) with the riders walking by and taking care. While doing this they were so friendly to take a lot of photos and videos (no extra costs our anything). After a amazing ride all around the beautiful and quiet area we went back to the central place where we started, climbed off to feed our big impressive friends and took some nice pictures again. At the end we we're sitting around on a lawn in a circle with Kabeer, his father and of course Raj Kumar (our taxi driver, the best one you can get btw) and had a nice little talk in this chilling atmosphere. Fair deals, no time pressure and a real pleasure to be there. A "must-see" in India! 100% honest rating.

Panna Meena ka Kund

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Panna Meena ka Kund is a historic stepwell and rainwater catchment located near Amber Fort in Jaipur. Dating back to the 16th century, this architectural wonder features picturesque symmetrical stairways on three sides and a multi-story balcony on the fourth. It is a popular spot for photography, especially during monsoon rains when it transforms into a peaceful oasis.
When I visited Panna Meena ka Kund in Jaipur, I was truly amazed by how beautifully history, architecture, and tranquility come together in one place. Located near Amber Fort, this 16th-century stepwell stands as a remarkable example of ancient Indian water conservation and design. What fascinated me most was how much mystery surrounds its origins. Some say it was built by or named after Panna Meena, a Meena tribe chieftain, while others believe it was the work of Panna Miah, a royal eunuch. Regardless of its exact history, the structure itself is breathtaking. The symmetrical crisscross staircases descending eight levels deep form a mesmerizing geometric pattern, and the four corner pavilions (chhatris) give it an elegant touch. I found it fascinating that you can’t climb up using the same stairs you used to go down — a clever design for managing movement and crowd flow in ancient times. Visiting during the early morning was perfect — soft sunlight made the symmetry even more striking and the place was peaceful, far from the tourist crowds. Entry is free, though stepping down into the well isn’t allowed anymore for safety reasons. It’s only a short walk from Amber Fort, so it’s easy to include both in one trip. What stood out most for me was the calm and quiet atmosphere. Unlike the busy forts nearby, this spot felt like a hidden gem — serene and photogenic from every angle. The clean surroundings and the play of shadows on the steps made it feel timeless, almost like stepping into a piece of living history. Overall, Panna Meena ka Kund isn’t just a stepwell — it’s a masterpiece of ancient engineering and artistry that leaves you with deep admiration for the ingenuity of the past.

Panna Meena Kund is such a cool hidden gem close to Amber Fort! The stepwell has awesome symmetrical steps and unique architecture—photos here always look incredible. It’s not very crowded, so it’s a peaceful spot to sit and take in the beauty of this historic place. No entry fee is a bonus, though parking is a bit tricky on weekends. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re exploring Jaipur—not only for the amazing views but also for a bit of quiet away from the city bustle. Perfect spot for photography fans and anyone wanting to experience something special and historic!
Ankur S — Google review
Panna Meena ka Kund in Jaipur is honestly one of the coolest and most underrated spots I visited. It’s a very calm and peaceful place, away from the busy tourist crowd. The first thing you notice is the beautiful stepwell design with perfectly arranged steps that create a really satisfying pattern. It’s the kind of place where you automatically feel like taking photos because every angle looks amazing. Even though visitors are not allowed to go down the steps anymore, the view from the top is still worth it. The structure is clean, well-maintained, and feels like a small piece of history hidden in a quiet corner. It’s around 400 years old, but still looks strong and impressive. The yellow stone architecture gives it a warm and traditional look, which blends perfectly with Jaipur’s vibe. I also liked that the place is not commercialized—no noise, no rush, and no entry fee. You can just sit there for a bit, relax, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. It’s also very close to Amber Fort, so it’s easy to add it to your plan without needing extra time. Overall, Panna Meena ka Kund is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys calm places, good photos, and a touch of heritage

I visited Panna Meena ka Kund while on the way to Amber Fort and it was great. The stepwell is made up of multiple symmetrical stairs which is a unique piece of architecture. Entry to the location was free and it's easily accessible using stairs. Highly recommended activity to do while in the area.

This place is on the way to Amber fort . The Panna Meena Ka Kund is a unique architectural marvel in India, visited annually by thousands. In addition, the 200-meter deep stepwell attracts attention from tourists globally. #Trivia: One of the incredible facts is that it is full of water all year round. It was a water supply for local people in the past. The Panna Meena Ka Kund was more than just a freshwater resource. It was a gathering place for the ladies, where they could chit-chat and catch up on one other's lives. As a result, it is more than just a piece of architecture; it is a vital aspect of our culture and history. You may easily imagine how life must have been centuries ago if you visit this stepwell. There is no entry ticket needed . The place is free to all.
Mahesh K — Google review
A simple but beautiful historic stepwell. Visitors are not allowed to go down the steps, so you can view and take pictures only from the top. Still, it’s a nice spot for quick photos and to admire the architecture.

Nestled within a charming traditional townhouse in Jaipur, the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing is a treasure trove dedicated to the exquisite art and heritage of wood-block printing. This museum not only showcases an impressive array of exhibits, including intricately carved wooden blocks and beautifully hand-printed textiles but also serves as a charitable foundation aimed at preserving this ancient Rajasthani craft.
Absolutely beautiful museum, with an incredible story and history of restoration. The textile exposition was exquisite, with a very interesting documentary about dyeing and natural dyes. The workshops with the local artesans were very interesting. Totally recommend a visit. The gift shop offers a range of products and textiles handmade from local artesans

The Anokhi Museum in Jaipur is a hidden gem for anyone interested in traditional Indian crafts. I really enjoyed learning about the art of block printing, the museum is beautifully curated with detailed explanations, historical pieces, and live demonstrations. One thing to note: during my visit, an artisan demonstrating woodblock printing gestured for a tip after showing us his work. We didn’t have any cash with us at the time, and he seemed a bit upset, saying something in Hindi that we didn’t understand. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it might be helpful for visitors to know in advance that tipping may be expected. That said, the overall experience was enriching and well worth a visit if you’re in Jaipur and want to explore local craftsmanship in a peaceful setting.

The Anokhi Museum is a well known gem in Amber! The block printing demo was fascinating, and the hands-on class made it even better. I loved trying the traditional printing myself, it is so much more difficult than it looks. The staff and teacher was kind and patient, and I left with a real appreciation for this beautiful Rajasthani Indian art form. A must-visit if you want a creative and cultural experience near Amber Fort! Cultural immersion at its best.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗶 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶 𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝗸𝗵𝗶 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺, 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 | The Chanwar Palkiwalon ki Haveli, home to the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing, is nestled in Amber, or Amer, a historic 11th-century military town that cascades down the rugged slopes from the Amber Palace and Fort in the Aravalli foothills. This 16th-century Rajput haveli mansion, built into the perimeter walls, holds a strategic location by the Kheri Gate, reflecting its importance in the fortified town. Its original owner was likely a distinguished military leader who secured this area. However, when Raja Jai Singh moved his court to the new walled-city of Jaipur in 1727, the local population dwindled, and the town fell into decline. After lying empty for over 400 years, the haveli was rescued from ruin when John Singh, a founder of Anokhi, purchased the property in 1989 and embarked on a four-year restoration project with architects Nimish Patel and Parul Zaveri of Abhikram. Together, they demonstrated that traditional building methods, implemented by local craftsmen, could be a cost-effective means of preservation. This outstanding restoration effort earned the haveli a UNESCO award for Cultural Conservation in 2000, celebrating the power of collaborative preservation efforts. ----------- The Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing was founded by Rachel Bracken-Singh and her husband Pritam Singh. The 16th-century Chanwar Palkiwalon ki Haveli mansion was restored in the 1980s and 1990s using traditional methods and materials, earning a UNESCO award in 2000. The restored haveli was later converted into a museum showcasing hand block printing, with ongoing research and refinement of museum practices. The museum also engages with the local community, educating students and welcoming neighbors and craftsmen to experience the living history of textile heritage.

go here to see wonderful examples of printing and learn about the different processes and traditions. you get to see the block carving and try some block printing for yourself!! they have a small store with items that are only found in this museum store, so don't skip it even if you plan to go to the big anokhi store later (which you should also do). this museum store also had bolts of fabric you can get cuts of and some packs of charm squares (5 inch squares that quilters use). the building itself is also just beautiful and a sight to see. Get a taxi to take you because its not some place ina big shopping center its by the fort and the driver will be helpful in getting you there.

One of the most interesting museums I've been to. It's not a big fancy place, but if you're genuinely interested in the history of textiles, this is a great spot. A must visit underrated place. Hope it remains like that, less crowded. Great experience of the historical textile story along with the beautiful architecture of the restored haveli. You also get to try the famous block printing technique for yourself
Archana S — Google review
Anokhi Museum is one of the best places to learn the art of hand-block printing. Less crowded and peaceful where you can learn a lot about the history of hand block tools, and the use of natural dyes and witness the live hand block printing by the artisans. However, I didn't like the way artisans asked for money, even though we had plans to tip them. The ticket charges are 80Rs per person. There is also a cafe outside the museum.

Amber Palace, also known as Amer Fort, is a stunning architectural marvel located in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This magnificent fort showcases a blend of Hindu and Muslim design elements, making it a unique cultural landmark. Visitors can enjoy elephant rides that add to the enchanting experience of exploring this historical site. The fort's intricate structures are built from various colored stones—milk white, light yellow, rose red, and pure white—which give it an amber-like appearance from afar.
Amer Fort – A Living Painting on the Hill Amer Fort isn’t just a monument — it’s like walking into a moving painting of Rajasthan’s royal past. Built by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and later expanded by Mirza Raja Jai Singh I, the fort stands proudly on the Aravalli hills, watching over the calm Maota Lake below. The first sight itself is unforgettable — elephants walking up the cobbled path, the Suraj Pol gate glowing in sunlight, and the reflection of the fort in the lake making it look double beautiful. In the middle of that lake lies Kesar Kyari Bagh, a star-shaped garden built on a small island. Centuries ago, the royals planted saffron here, and the queens admired it from the palace balconies. Even today, it looks like a silent secret floating in time. Inside the fort, the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) steals your heart. One small flame lights up hundreds of tiny mirrors — pure magic without electricity! The planning of water channels, cooling systems, and hidden passages shows how smart ancient engineers were. Amer was once a defence fort but feels more like an art gallery of the Rajput spirit. Managed today by the Government of Rajasthan, it remains beautifully preserved. If you ever visit Jaipur, don’t rush. Sit near Maota Lake at sunset, watch the fort turn golden, and you’ll feel that history here doesn’t sleep — it just shines quietly.

Amer Fort, perched on the rugged Aravalli hills of Jaipur, is one of those places that instantly pulls you back into the grandeur of Rajasthan’s royal era. The moment you enter the main gate, the Sheesh Mahal’s shimmer, the intricate Rajput-Mughal designs, and the vast courtyards begin telling centuries-old stories of valor and elegance. The fort is massive yet beautifully detailed—every arch, jharokha, and pillar feels handcrafted with devotion. The Diwan-e-Aam, Ganesh Pol, and the breathtaking mirror work inside the palace are the true highlights. From the top, you get an incredible panoramic view of Maota Lake and the surrounding hills, making it a perfect spot for photography and peaceful reflection. Even with the crowds, Amer Fort maintains a calm, regal vibe. The light-and-sound show in the evening is also worth experiencing, as it beautifully narrates the fort’s rich history. Whether you're a history lover, architecture enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys exploring majestic places, Amer Fort is a destination you shouldn’t miss. It’s not just a monument—it’s a timeless symbol of Rajput glory and artistic brilliance. A must-visit gem of Jaipur!

The fort is one of the beautiful forts i have seen but if you are visiting this fort, you must wear sport-shoes as you have to walk around 8-10 km within the fort. Also, as the fort is having history with jodha bai, i recommend to take guide with you(200 rs charges). Also, elephant ride is available at the starting point to reach to the main gate of the mahel i.e chand pole.

went to amber palace, taking a jeep to get to the top of the castle. the visit was truly amazing because i had no expectations. there were lots of couples shooting for their wedding. there are so many hidden photo spots. the garden was beautifully managed and the castles (esp sheesh mahal, the mirror castle) were very intact and fascinating. if i had to choose only two spots to visit in the northern india i would choose taj mahal and amber palace.
Gracy B — Google review
Busy place, but really beautifull. To many people try to sell you stuff, be your guide or want to take pictures for money. Pretty annoying, you could not take one or two steps without being bothered, so -1 for that. The place itself had a lot of information signs, beautifull corners and places to Explorer or take pictures. But it was way to busy. We sometimes had to wait before we could walk up a stairs and taking a picture was not possible in some places. -1 for that. (Probably better if you can avoid the weekends!) The price was kind of alright 500 irp for International tourist. 100 per person for Indian, 20 per person for Indian Students, 150 per person for Foreign Students. In the end a place with great history and beauty.

Absolutely stunning place to be. It literally gave me goosebumps when i took the first glance at Amer Fort. Parking area is clean, helpful people there. A pro tip, please wear sports shoes as you have to walk a lot. Also, hire a guide if you really wanted to know the history of the Fort and king. Otherwise it's fine to roam around, click photos and adoring the historical architectural beauty. Don't try to go to Jaigarh from secret tunnel. It is 1.5km long and you will feel drained after that. Just go to Amer and then visit Jaigarh and Nahargarh by car. You need whole day for these forts, so plan accordingly.

Amber palace is the best and must to visit place in Jaipur. On weekends there is heavy rush on this fort. It took us almost one hour to reach parking area of fort. The fort ia very nice architectural monument. The Diwan e Khas or Shish mahal is the main attraction of Ambet fort. There are other areas like Diwan e Aam, King's bathroom, various rooms are also nice to see.
Mayur K — Google review
The magnificient Amer palace looks majestic on top of a hill. The view from below the hill is mindblowing. The road to the palace is narrow and crowded, but the palace is worth the time spent navigating and reaching the palace. You will get to see the kingly palace, its gardens, fountains, huge halls and hallways, the kings bath etc etc. Be ready to spend good amount of time here. Its the main attraction of jaipur city. There are enough gaurds and security to help us around with directions. Hire a good guide if you wanto explore the history of Amer palace.

Sheesh Mahal, also known as the Mirror Palace, is a stunning pavilion within Amber Fort that was once used by the imperial family. The palace is renowned for its intricate mirror work, featuring traditional motifs and lotus designs adorning thousands of small mirrors. It is said that even the light from a single candle could illuminate the entire Sheesh Mahal. This historical gem served as the backdrop for iconic scenes in Bollywood films and has become a popular spot for visitors seeking Instagram-worthy photos.
It should be the first place on the itinerary if you're planning to visit Jaipur. It will take minimum an hour to explore and if you prefer to click and capture photos along with it. Consider a minimum of 2-3 hours. You might find several points inside the fort of interest and photo friendly. If you wish to know its history consider a guide otherwise check YouTube plenty of people have described about it before.

Sheesh Mahal at Amber Fort is a spectacular sight, with its intricate mirror work and stunning architecture that truly showcases Mughal craftsmanship. However, the experience can be a bit overwhelming because there are too many vendors constantly approaching tourists to sell goods or services. Despite that, the historical significance and sheer beauty of the place make it well worth a visit, earning it a solid 4-star rating.

The Sheesh Mahal, located within the Amber Fort complex, is a must-visit destination for tourists visiting Jaipur. Dubbed as “The Palace of Mirrors”, it exudes opulence and extravagance with its intricate setting of precious stones and mirror work on walls and ceilings. Built in 1727 by Maharaja Man Singh, the palace boasts a unique mirror arrangement that reflects a single ray of light to illuminate the entire room. The exquisite mirror work is a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship of designers and architects from a bygone era, leaving visitors in awe of their expertise.

The name literally translates to the 'palace of mirrors'. The palace is located inside Amber fort. The palace is filled with shining small mirrors in every corner. There is a big mirror in a corner-near the exit, where if you look at it, you can see you face clearly. An absolute wonder in the heart of Rajasthan.

The visit was amazing. We took a guide at the ticketing office. Price was 400 rupii for about 40-50 min just be aware that not all guides in India are good some are just scammers. The guy in white islamic (?) hat is amazing. He speaks good English and is also an interesting person. Highly recommended. The fort itself was also amazing.

Hanuman Temple

Nestled in a serene and picturesque setting, Hanuman Temple, also known as Monkey Temple or Kole Ke Hanuman Ji, is a historic Hindu site dedicated to the revered monkey deity Hanuman. The temple offers stunning views and boasts remarkable architecture set amidst the mountains. Visitors can immerse themselves in the tranquil atmosphere while observing people singing, playing music, and even swimming in the holy water. The temple is home to Macaque monkeys that visitors can feed and observe.
The place is very beautiful and quiet. The old buildings are renovated but still there is a scope for cleanliness. The water in the pond is clear but the around area is not that cleaned. Children take bath in it and people wash their clothes. The temple uphill is the oldest temple of Lord Hanuman. Many people come to this temple often. And there are other temples also. There is some trekking area also uphill side.
Purnima S — Google review
The temple is a gorgeously located near a hilly area and hence there is no access to the main shrine. You will find monkeys lingering around in enormous numbers. A wonderful experience is ensured. It seems difficult to get a cab here. Hence it is recommended to take necessary precautions. The premises were not very clean during my visit.
Anjusree K — Google review
Amazing geography and architecture, the temple is set in between the mountains. Vibe is immaculate - people singing and playing music and swimming in the holy water. Great place to see and feed monkeys (they're Macaques). Paid entry and you can get a guide. It was also very cool here as the breeze flows between the mountains. Note that the monkeys are given so many bananas that they sometimes won't eat them. Our guide used salty chips, which the monkeys loved.
Narender K — Google review
Unfortunately would not recommend. While it was lovely to see all of the monkeys roaming around, for a popular tourist attraction the temple was not well looked after and there was trash everywhere, arguably the most littered temple I’ve been to so far in India. Quite sad to see all of the monkeys and other animals eating the rubbish that was in the river, which ruined the entire experience. The people that work here are only there to get your money, they commented that the rubbish situation was awful but had no incentive to clear up. There were no bins anywhere either, which would have significantly helped. There is an additional charge to take pictures, which costs more than the entrance ticket and is an outright scam!. Hope someone with authority sees this comment and decides to take action. Very disappointing.
Alicia W — Google review
This was one of my favorite sights in Jaipur! We came early in the morning at sunrise and it was a magical experience. We were the only tourists and it was a magnificent sight. The sunrise was beautiful and the swarm of monkeys that suddenly came was cool. The monkeys were adorable and very playful. I can recommend this place to anyone that want a great experience! The cost is 50 INR for each camera you bring. Same price for foreigners as for locals. Word of warning: The locals will try to get you into their shrines there is scattered around and then pressure you for money.
Martin H — Google review
The temple is crowded of people and monkeys. And the monkeys are a little bit friendly and it's better to bring something with you for them and have fun with monkeys. But, the temple isn't Clean and it's a noisy place. And there is no connection there so it's better to go with your driver
Seham N — Google review
The monkeys here for the most part are very friendly. They may climb on you to get food so only carry small amounts in hand at a time. Peanuts are sold outside the temple and right before the entrance. You will typically be asked for an offering to see the different shrines within the temple, 50-100 rupees for each of the 6 or so shrines is enough, but you can of course give more if you wish. View from the highest shrine is very nice, and if you're short on time they will bring you up on a bike which will save you the hike time. In the first main pool try to catch the monkeys doing cannonballs from the roof down into the water.
Justin M — Google review
A spectacular structure, this magnificent temple is built in pink sandstone, amidst low hills, and is structured to look more like a palace or 'haveli' than a traditional temple. The Galta Monkey Temple has a back-drop of gorgeous landscape and Aravilli Hills. This impressive building is ornamented by painted walls, adorned by rounded roofs and pillars, which is unique in its own. Unfortunately, the premises is not well maintained or much preserved; sadly one can find litter/trash scattered around.

One of its main attractions is the Jaivana Cannon, known as the world's largest cannon on wheels.
Jaigarh fort built mainly as protection for amer fort, houses the worlds largest cannon aka jaivan cannon. It looks grand and makes you wonder how was it operated with help of elephants. It also makes you wonder the fate of those who stand at the receiving end of this cannon. Hatsoff to people who built and operated it. The fort also offers some breathtaking views of the hills/city.

Best combination of history and technology. It was army camp for the king. Best part is the Canon factory, where the world's largest canon Jaiwaan was made. Jaiwan is known as largest canon in this world with a weight of 50 tons. It was made in Jaigarh Fort canon factory. It shows the great technology of India. View of Amer palace is lovely from Jaigarh. Lovely place with great history. Made strong and safe for battles. Though, needs lot of maintenance to save our history.

The palace's unique location makes it one of Jaipur's most famous landmarks.

Really lovely palace which sits right in the middle of the man sagar lake in jaipur. The view of the palace is beautiful with the hills to one side and water all around. Need more maintenance and cleanliness as the water is dirty and needs treatment. Its a pity that common man has no access to the palace. You will be hawked by photographers offering to take snaps in traditional rajasthani dressing. Bargain well if you want to engage their service.

The Jal Mahal (meaning "Water Palace") is a stunning architectural marvel situated in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, India. Built primarily in the red sandstone, this five-storey palace appears to be floating serenely on the water, with four of its floors submerged during a full lake, leaving only the top floor visible. Originally constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh for duck hunting, the palace was later extensively renovated and expanded by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber in the 18th century. Its distinctive blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles is evident in the symmetrical design, the intricate carvings, and the beautiful terraced garden on its roof, which was once adorned with arcades and semi-octagonal towers. Though currently inaccessible to visitors inside, the palace and its picturesque reflection on the lake's surface offer one of the most tranquil and photographed sights in the "Pink City."
SAIKAT M — Google review
The story behind Jaipur's Jal Mahal ("Water Palace") is one of its creation as a hunting lodge and its later transforma- tion into a symbol of royal pleasure and architectural ingenuity. Originally built in 1699 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, it was a retreat for duck hunting. Later, in the 18th century, Maharaja Jai Singh Il renovated and ex- panded both the palace and the surrounding lake, which was formed by damming the Dravyavati river to address water scarcity.
Ashish G — Google review
The Jal Mahal, or "Water Palace," is an architectural marvel seemingly afloat in the center of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur. This entire setting is man-made; the lake was originally created in 1610 AD by damming the Darbhawati river to alleviate a famine. The palace itself, though started earlier, was largely renovated and enlarged in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II of Amber. The palace's design is a stunning testament to the Rajput-Mughal architectural blend. It is a five-storeyed structure built from beautiful red sandstone, yet famously, when the lake is full, four of those floors remain submerged underwater, creating the illusion of a single, ethereal floating story. A key detail is that the palace cannot be visited internally by the general public as entry is restricted, partly due to ongoing restoration and legal issues. Tourists must appreciate its grandeur from the Man Sagar Dam and the promenade on the lake's edge. Regarding water activities, boating is currently not allowed for tourists to access the palace itself, though some tour operators offer boat rides on the larger Man Sagar Lake to provide a closer view. The primary activity is walking the promenade and photography, especially during sunrise or sunset. The best time to visit the exterior is during the monsoon, when the lake is at its fullest, enhancing the palace's magical reflection. Flanked by the Nahargarh hills, Jal Mahal remains one of Jaipur's most photographed and historically significant landmarks.

Hawa Mahal, often referred to as the "Palace of Winds," is a stunning architectural gem located in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, this five-story palace is renowned for its striking facade adorned with numerous small windows known as jharokhas. These intricately designed openings not only enhance the beauty of the structure but also serve a practical purpose by allowing cool breezes to flow through, making it an early form of natural air conditioning.
Hawa Mahal, or the “Palace of Winds,” is one of Jaipur’s most iconic landmarks. Standing tall in the heart of the Pink City, this five-storey palace made of red and pink sandstone looks stunning with its honeycomb-like façade of 953 small windows, built for royal women to observe street life unseen. Visiting the monument feels like walking into history. The narrow corridors and breezy windows live up to its name—the constant flow of air keeps the palace surprisingly cool even on hot days. From the top, you get a beautiful view of Jaipur’s old streets and the City Palace nearby. **Timings:** Open daily from **9 AM to 4:30 PM**. **Tickets:** Around **₹50 for Indians** and **₹200 for foreigners**. **Accessibility:** Being an old structure, there are steep stairs and limited space, so it may not be ideal for elderly visitors or those with mobility issues. However, the main façade can easily be viewed from the street without climbing inside. **Guides:** Local guides are available at the entrance for ₹150–₹300, offering great insights into the palace’s history and purpose. Overall, Hawa Mahal is a must-visit in Jaipur—beautiful, breezy, and symbolic of Rajasthan’s royal heritage. Go early morning for soft light and fewer crowds; it’s especially magical when the sun hits the pink walls.

The intricate windows and pink sandstone design look even more beautiful during sunrise. The view from the top gives a nice glimpse of the city and local markets. The location is easy to reach, and there are many shops and cafés around for snacks and shopping. Ticket price is reasonable, and the place is well-maintained. A must-visit spot for history lovers, photographers, and anyone exploring Jaipur!

Hawa Mahal, or the “Palace of Winds,” is truly one of the most iconic and mesmerizing landmarks in Jaipur. The moment you see its magnificent pink sandstone façade, you understand why it’s called the pride of the Pink City. The intricate latticework windows, known as “jharokhas,” were built so royal women could watch street processions without being seen — and that piece of history makes the experience even more special. I visited in the morning, and the sunlight reflecting on the palace made it glow beautifully. The street view from the opposite side gives you the best photo angle — the whole façade looks stunning against the clear blue sky. Inside, the corridors are narrow yet charming, leading up to several levels with amazing viewpoints overlooking the busy Johari Bazaar below. The detailing on the walls and arches is spectacular, and the cool breeze that flows through the hundreds of small windows really lives up to its name — “Palace of Winds.” There’s also a small museum inside showcasing royal artifacts, paintings, and weapons from the Rajput era. I highly recommend visiting with a local guide for historical insights — it made my visit even more meaningful. Outside, there are many shops selling jewelry, handicrafts, and Rajasthani souvenirs, adding to the local vibe. Overall, Hawa Mahal is a masterpiece of architecture, culture, and history — an unmissable stop for anyone visiting Jaipur. Don’t forget to carry your camera; every corner is worth capturing!
Mahim P — Google review
A great structure and unique example of Indian architecture. It believes that this building is made without foundation. Lots of windows and beautiful look. Nice place to visit but you will face parking problem. In evening it looks much beautiful. Plan your visit in evening and you will love it.

The Hawa Mahal stands as a testament to great architecture, instantly captivating visitors with its distinctive five-story, pyramid-like facade. Built from red and pink sandstone, its genius lies in the 953 delicate jharokhas (latticed windows), which allowed royal ladies to observe street festivals while remaining unseen. This ingenious design also facilitates the 'Palace of Winds' effect, ensuring cool breezes circulate through the structure. A major reality check, though: the area is incredibly crowdy. The surrounding street is a chaotic hub of traffic, making it overwhelming during peak hours. For the best experience, the early morning is the absolute best time to visit, ideally before 10:00 AM. The softer light beautifully illuminates the pink facade, and the crowds are significantly thinner. For the iconic, full-frame photos of the Mahal, avoid the ground level. Instead, head directly across the road and up to one of the rooftop spots, such as the popular Wind View Cafe. This vantage point offers an unobstructed, elevated view that is simply unparalleled for capturing this magnificent structure.

Hawa Mahal was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799 under the supervision of architect Lal Chand Ustad. He designed the facade of this palace like a crown. This 87-foot-high-pyramid-shaped, five-storied structure has 953 intricately designed windows. This five-storey building has been built without a foundation It’s known for it’s expectional ventilation, Which is also the reason behind it’s name - Hawa Mahal, which literally translates to “Palace of the Winds”
Joseph W — Google review
Visiting Hawa Mahal felt like stepping into a fairytale carved out of pink sandstone. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, this iconic "Palace of Winds" is an architectural marvel that left me utterly spellbound. The moment you stand in front of its stunning five-story façade, you’re greeted by 953 intricately latticed windows (jharokhas) that look like a giant honeycomb dripping with Rajput and Mughal artistry. The delicate carvings, domes, and balconies create a mesmerizing pattern against the sky – it’s easily one of the most photogenic landmarks in India! What makes Hawa Mahal truly magical is its brilliant design. Those tiny windows were crafted so cleverly that they allowed royal ladies to observe street festivals and daily life without being seen, while keeping the palace naturally cool even in scorching Rajasthani summers (the "hawa" in its name literally means wind!). Standing inside, you can feel the gentle breeze flowing through like the palace is breathing – it’s an engineering wonder disguised as poetry. The view from the top is pure gold: a panoramic sweep of Jaipur’s bustling bazaars, the majestic City Palace, and distant hills bathed in golden sunlight. Early morning is especially enchanting when the soft light turns the entire structure into a glowing rose-pink dream. Though the interiors are minimal (it was never meant for residence), every ramp and corridor feels like a secret passageway whispering stories of a bygone era. The small museum on the upper floors with its old photographs and artifacts adds a lovely touch of history. Tips from my visit: Go at sunrise for the best light and fewer crowds. Combine it with Jantar Mantar and City Palace – they’re just a short walk away. Wear comfortable shoes; there are plenty of stairs but totally worth the climb! Hawa Mahal isn’t just a monument – it’s a celebration of creativity, femininity, and the genius of Indian architecture. If you’re in Jaipur, this breathtaking beauty is an absolute must-see. I left with hundreds of photos and a heart full of wonder. Highly, highly recommended! 🏰💖

It is built by Maharaj Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. It is five storied structure and one of the tourist places in Jaipur. It is unique in its design. It looks like honeycomb as it has many small windows and balconies. These windows and balconies allowed royal women to observe the street life whereas these women will be remain unseen to outsider on street. These windows and balconies also provides cool breeze. Thats why the name is Hawa Mahal ( Palace of winds). It is open at 9.30 am and closes 7.00 pm. The closing time varies on season basis. Entry fee is 50 rs for Indian citizen.

Sacred & Religious Sites
Thikana Mandir Sri Govinddevji, located within the City Palace of Jaipur in Rajasthan, India, is an ornate 18th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and his consort Radha. The revered site holds immense importance for devotees in the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition. Visitors can experience the mesmerizing morning aarti starting at 4:30 AM, which fills the heart with joy and confidence for the day ahead.
The darshan was truly divine! You can witness the beautiful idol of Shri Krishna and Radha Rani from any corner of the temple courtyard. The entire environment is filled with devotees singing bhajans and performing aarti, creating a spiritual and heart-warming atmosphere. The aarti experience is mesmerizing, and the temple is spacious enough for parikrama around the sanctum while seeking blessings. Do check the temple’s operational timings before visiting, as it follows specific darshan slots. Parking is available nearby, though you’ll need to walk around 100 meters to enter the temple premises. There’s a shoe stand available for free, and you can buy puja samagri before entering. Overall, a peaceful, divine, and uplifting experience that truly connects you to the spiritual essence of Shri Govind Dev Ji. Surely a MUST visit if you visit Jaipur.

A great temple, faith of Jaipurites. Every day large crowds visit. Many Jhaki organised daily..A heart touching Aarti. Total spiritual atmosphere. Very difficult to control crowd. Special Laddu in packet pack can be purchased. Since Last 5 years or so Ladoo making given on outsourcing, after that comprise in taste, quality and price. Parking problem exists largely..many times laps in security and safety is point of concern. Some concrete change need to apply.

My visit to the beautiful Govind Dev Ji Temple in Jaipur coincided with both the Janmashtami festivities and India's Independence Day, making for a truly unique but challenging experience. The temple, which is a key pilgrimage site for Krishna devotees, was adorned with flowers and lights, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere that was wonderful to witness. We were part of a massive throng of people, which made getting close to the sanctum for darshan incredibly difficult.

Govind Devji Temple, Jaipur Visited Govind Devji Temple yesterday and it was such a peaceful and heartwarming experience. The atmosphere was full of devotion and positivity, with people of all ages coming together to pray and sing bhajans. The temple itself is beautiful — simple yet filled with such strong spiritual energy. I loved how calm and welcoming it felt, and the crowd added to the liveliness without being overwhelming. A must-visit if you want to feel connected, calm, and truly experience Jaipur’s cultural soul.

Shri Govind Dev Ji Temple in Jaipur is not just a temple — it’s a place where peace, devotion, and tradition come together beautifully. The moment you step inside, you can feel divine energy all around. The rhythmic sound of bells, the chanting of bhajans, and the sight of devotees bowing with folded hands create an atmosphere that touches the soul. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, the idol of Govind Dev Ji has a magical charm — said to resemble the exact form of Krishna seen by his beloved Radha. The temple’s architecture, though simple, radiates grace and purity. The aartis here are mesmerizing, especially the Mangala and Sandhya Aarti, when hundreds of devotees gather and the entire hall glows with faith. Another beautiful thing about this temple is how it unites people from all walks of life — locals, travelers, and spiritual seekers — all sharing one emotion: devotion. The temple is well-maintained, and the surrounding gardens of the City Palace add to its serene environment. If you ever visit Jaipur, don’t miss Shri Govind Dev Ji Temple — it’s not just a religious place, it’s an experience of divine peace, love, and connection with Lord Krishna. 💫

The Govind Dev Ji Temple is a significant Hindu temple dedicated to Radha and Krishna, located within the City Palace complex, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The temple was established in 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, who brought the deities from Vrindavan. The temple's Satsang Hall holds the Guinness World Record for being the world's widest concrete building. The 15,800 square feet pillarless hall can accommodate 5,000 devotees at any given time. Visitors especially enjoy the early morning mangal aarti and evening prayers, which create a peaceful, devotional atmosphere. The temple’s blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture, along with its well-maintained gardens, adds to its charm. Despite the daily crowds, the temple remains clean and well-managed. Close to popular Jaipur attractions, it’s an ideal spot for both devotees and tourists looking for a tranquil experience steeped in culture and faith. It was a beautiful, soulful visit — full of joy, devotion, and gratitude. We truly felt blessed and pray that Govind Dev Ji continues to watch over us always.

Observatories & Planetariums
Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is a fascinating 18th-century heritage site that stands as a testament to the astronomical prowess of its creator, Maharaj Sawai Jai Singh II. This remarkable observatory, constructed in 1726 from masonry, marble, and brass, features an array of fixed instruments known as yantras. These large-scale structures resemble abstract sculptures but serve a serious purpose: they accurately measure celestial phenomena such as timekeeping, star locations, planetary angles, and even predict eclipses.
Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is one of the most fascinating places I’ve ever visited. It’s not just a historical monument but a real scientific wonder that shows how advanced India’s astronomical knowledge was centuries ago. Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the early 1700s, this UNESCO World Heritage Site features massive instruments made entirely of stone and marble — all used to study the stars, track time, and predict eclipses long before modern technology existed. The highlight is the Samrat Yantra, the world’s largest stone sundial, which can measure time with incredible accuracy — up to just a few seconds! There are several other fascinating instruments, each designed with perfect geometric precision. It’s truly mind-blowing to think that these were built over 300 years ago without any modern equipment. 👉 Make sure to get a local guide — they will explain everything clearly and make the experience ten times better. The instruments can look confusing at first, but once the guide walks you through how each one works, it becomes absolutely captivating. My guide explained how shadows, angles, and sunlight were used to calculate time and planetary positions — it was like stepping into a live science classroom! The complex is clean, well-maintained, and ideal for photography, especially in the morning when the light hits the instruments beautifully. There are shaded spots to relax, and the atmosphere feels peaceful despite being near the busy City Palace area. Overall, Jantar Mantar is a must-visit in Jaipur — a perfect blend of history, science, and art. It’s one of those places that truly makes you admire India’s ancient brilliance. Highly recommended!

Informational boards and guides help visitors understand the science behind each structure. The surrounding area has local shops, cafés, and the vibrant streets of Jaipur that add charm to the visit. It’s truly a place where history, science, and culture meet beautifully — a must-visit for anyone exploring Jaipur.

The place feels calm, well-maintained, and perfect for learning as well as photography. Jantar Mantar was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the early 18th century. His passion for astronomy led him to create 19 massive instruments, including the world’s largest stone sundial. It is one of the most fascinating places in Jaipur. The different devices shows time, the hour of the day, eclipse-on the sun and the moon, the hours left, when will it begin, the end time, the mid time, the duration and everything related to time and above. In those times, people used to see this and know the time of the day and night. There is a wheel that actually tells the time. The spoke on which the sunray is there, its the hour and minutes follow after it. Absolute wonder.

The City Palace in Jaipur is an opulent 18th-century palace that once served as the residence of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and is now a museum. It's a popular historical attraction known for its beautiful collection of paintings, textile gallery, armory, Durbar hall, BaggiKhana, and SarvatoBhadraor (Diwan E-Khas) with exquisite architectural beauty.
City Palace in Jaipur is an incredible blend of history, art, and royal elegance — a must-visit for anyone exploring the Pink City. The palace complex perfectly combines Mughal and Rajput architectural styles, with grand gateways, beautiful courtyards, and intricately designed halls. As soon as you step inside, you’re surrounded by marble archways, colorful murals, and royal charm that instantly takes you back in time. The highlight for me was the famous Peacock Gate — a masterpiece of design with vibrant colors and amazing craftsmanship. It’s also one of the most photographed spots here, and for good reason. The museum inside the palace is very well-maintained, showcasing royal costumes, ancient weaponry, and artifacts that tell the story of Jaipur’s royal legacy. I also enjoyed visiting the Diwan-i-Khas and Diwan-i-Aam — both halls are majestic and filled with historical significance. There’s a small café inside the complex that serves good coffee and snacks, perfect for relaxing after exploring. The place is clean, well-managed, and the staff is polite and helpful. The entry fee might feel a bit high, but considering the beauty, maintenance, and experience, it’s absolutely worth it. I recommend visiting in the morning or late afternoon for good lighting and smaller crowds. My photos from the upper terrace and courtyard turned out stunning! Overall, City Palace is a gem in Jaipur — grand, graceful, and full of stories that every traveler should experience.

A magnificent blend of history and royalty! City Palace is one of the most impressive attractions in Jaipur. The architecture is grand, with beautifully carved courtyards, vibrant doorways, and well-preserved artifacts that reflect the rich heritage of the royal family. The museum sections are informative, and the displays are curated with care. The entire complex is clean, organized, and easy to explore. Though the tickets are slightly on the higher side, the experience and the elegance of the palace make it worth it. A must-visit for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in Jaipur’s royal past!

A part of the Jaipur king's palace is open to visitors as museum. Ticket rate of 300rs per person. Wonderful museum. Most of it is covered, so okay to visit during daytime with high temperature. We visited in September 2025 Current descendents of the King reside in a part of this palace, which is not open to regular visitors. There is a private tour of 4000rs (if I remember right) per person, to view 4 rooms in the section where King resides. Anyone wanting to get a pic in the famous blue-white design room famous in social media - this is one of these 4 rooms available through the 4k rs ticket - don't be disappointed like me 😅

Amazing place to visit. It's an architectural marvel. The entire palace is aesthetically designed and very pleasing to watch. The museum also has lot of artifacts the kings Dubar looks very magnificent.

It's a beautiful place where the royal family lives. We buy a ticket for 300 but it was for very limited access, for entire palace the ticket was of 4000 which is huge. Even spending 300 for museum was not worth. The palace is definitely a good place and carrying a great history but spending 300 for visiting museum for 45 minutes is costly. Definitely a place to visit but cost is also royal.
Rajeev P — Google review
The city palace is one of its kind and so beautifully designed. Also, entry fees of 300 rs for indian and 1000 rs for foreigners is applicable. They have restaurant and caffe as well inside the fort. Must visit if you are staying in jaipur. Also, this fort do not require guide as everything is mentioned there with details and pictures.
Karan B — Google review
The City Palace in Jaipur is an absolutely stunning monument and a must-visit for anyone coming to the Pink City. The architecture, colours, courtyards and royal details are breathtaking — every corner feels like a piece of history frozen in time. The blend of Rajput and Mughal design is beautifully maintained, and you can easily spend hours exploring and clicking photos. Truly one of Jaipur’s finest landmarks. That said, a small word of caution about the shops inside the palace complex. Many items are marketed as “authentic”, “royal”, or “handmade”, but the prices are heavily marked up. You can find very similar items — textiles, handicrafts, accessories and souvenirs — outside the palace for a fraction of the cost. A special mention for the perfume/attar shops inside: they narrate long stories about rare fragrances and royal formulas, but most of it is just regular attar being sold at extremely high prices. There’s no harm in browsing, but it’s better to buy perfumes and handicrafts from trusted markets outside. Overall, City Palace is an incredible place to experience the heritage of Jaipur, but be mindful of purchases inside the premises. Go for the architecture, culture and history — they’re 100% worth it!

We went here with my friends on a school trip. There was a little difficulty in parking as we had to go upwards using a different kind of jeep, but man oh man, what do I say? This was one of the best forts I've seen so far, situated in slightly hilly terrain that offers stunning perspectives from every angle. The fort itself is massive, covering a vast area, and exploring it is an adventure in itself. It is divided into several sections and forts, such as the Jaigarh Fort and the Amber Fort (Sheesh Mahal) and most of it is preserved and maintained very well. Walking through its courtyards, gates, and ramparts, you can truly feel the grandness of its design and the careful planning that went into every part. A visit here leaves you with a true sense of the historical importance of how skillful and creative the ancient Indians were who built this fort. The sanitation and the overall holding up of the structures over decades have really blown my mind. Every corner seems to tell a story of the past, and the perfect scale of this architecture is admirable. I highly recommend this place for anyone who appreciates our ancient heritage. The overall blend of natural landscape and architectural brilliance makes it a truly unforgettable experience that reflects Rajasthan’s royal past in all its glory.

Visited Nahargarh Fort in the morning and really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic city views. The fort is beautifully built on the hilltop, offering a stunning view of Jaipur from above. Unfortunately, the Padao Restaurant was closed when we reached, so we couldn’t try it — it would have been nice to enjoy breakfast or tea with that view. Still, the fort itself is worth visiting, especially in the morning when it’s quiet and not crowded.

Amazing place. The Fort is amazing, great architecture, detailing and history. But, Be aware of monkey's here. And parking space is such a mess. No ground leveling, hard stones all over. You can skip the food from Padao Café. The free coffee is probably the worst coffee I've ever tasted. The scenic beauty is the only thing people go there. And you have to pay Rs.200 per person just to visit that cafe. Free coffee is included. Other than that, it is a beautiful place to go with friends and family.

Nestled within the lush surroundings of Ram Niwas Bagh, the Albert Hall Museum stands as a testament to Jaipur's rich heritage and artistic legacy. Established in 1887, this elegant museum is not only the oldest in the city but also an architectural marvel designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob. The Indo-Saracenic style building, crafted from sandstone and marble, beautifully blends Indian and Victorian influences.
Exploring the Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur Visiting the Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur felt like stepping into a treasure house of history and art. This grand Indo-Saracenic building, glowing beautifully in pink sandstone, stood proudly in the heart of the city. Inside, I wandered through galleries filled with ancient sculptures, paintings, coins, and royal costumes that told stories of Rajasthan’s glorious past. The Egyptian mummy was a fascinating surprise! As evening fell, the museum lit up brilliantly, adding magic to the city skyline. The museum is a stunning example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, the building itself is so majestic that it feels like stepping into a royal era. It’s located right in the heart of the city near Ram Niwas Garden and looks especially beautiful in the evening when it’s illuminated with colorful lights. There were lot of photoshoots happening there when we visited the museum. The museum has an excellent collection showcasing the rich heritage of Rajasthan. From ancient coins, royal costumes, miniature paintings and traditional musical instruments to sculptures, carpets and arms, every section tells a fascinating story about India’s art and culture. The Egyptian mummy and old jewelry section were among our favourites and it was amazing to see how well everything is preserved and displayed. The entry ticket is quite reasonable for the experience you get and you can even take a combined ticket if you plan to visit other monuments in Jaipur. The museum is well maintained, clean and informative, perfect for families and anyone interested in history and art. We spent about 1.5 to 2 hours exploring the exhibits and it was truly worth it. Albert Hall Museum is pure magic wrapped in Indo-Saracenic splendor! The moment I stepped in front of this stunning 19th-century masterpiece, I was completely mesmerized. Bathed in warm golden light (especially at sunset), the building looks like a royal palace straight out of a painting, with its domes, arches, and intricate carvings glowing against the Jaipur sky. Built in 1887 and named after King Edward VII (then Prince of Wales), this is the oldest museum in Rajasthan, and it wears its grandeur with effortless elegance. The corridors are lined with beautiful frescoes and the central courtyard often has hundreds of pigeons fluttering around – it feels like you’ve walked onto a movie set

Not a v huge building, but so many items in display. Interesting to know this was a museum opened in 1880s If you are a tourist and short of time, you can skip this place, especially with the high ticket rate. It is nice to see it lit up at night.

Unique park offering experiences with elephants including riding, painting, feeding & washing.
Eleday is great place for elephant activities in Jaipur. They provide all services in very cheap rates.

Eleday is wonderful place for interaction with elephants. They provide experience in very less price compare to other organisations. Friendly staff. Highly recommend

Eleday feels like a sanctuary rather than a tourist camp. It’s perfect for families, animal lovers, or anyone who wants a meaningful elephant experience in Jaipur. Highly recommended if you want to do something ethical and touching rather than just a quick photo-op.

They share their story, basic, and then some information about Indian Elephants; these are rescued Elephants. After riding the Elephant in a circle in a not so large area, they encourage you to paint, wash, and feed the Elephants. It was a very worthwhile experience, and you help provide income for their hefty upkeep. You can ride the elephant bare back, or on a platform tied to their back.
Helen — Google review
Joy from eleday provided us with a lot of information on his elephants as well as the differences between the African and Asian varieties. The enclosure is a 30 minute drive from central Jaipur, where one meets the elephants. There were 3 elephants present during our visit of 2.5h although there are apparently 30 animals owned by eleday. We had the pleasure to meet Sonia, a 34-year old elephant that was painted in various colours. She was very gentle and really warmed up to us after the feeding activity (apparently bananas are to elephants what chocolates are to humans). The other activities proposed were painting, washing and riding (without saddles to prevent harm) the elephants. The elephants seem to be well taken care of, are fed frequently and seem to be in good health (medical checkups are held every 8 weeks, according to joy). It was a unique experience of about 2.5h but at no point were we rushed to move to another activity or to leave. The care takers are very friendly and seem to have a good relationship with the animals. Definitely recommended!

I must say, it was truly a beautiful mandir located in Rajasthan, this was the first place we visited while on our school trip. Upon arrival, it was still evening, and we spent some time exploring the surroundings and doing a bit of side shopping in bazaar near the entrance of the mandir. As the sunset occurred and the lights lit up, the entire ambiance of this place transformed. Gradually, as the evening turned into night, the temple was sparkling and shining with decorative lights, highlighting its highly detailed sculptures and towering spires. We headed towards the main mandir through a single pathway going uphill, which was slightly steep but added to the sense of anticipation. The mandir itself was breathtaking, with its majestic and intricate designs. Despite being a bit crowded, the atmosphere was peaceful and filled with spiritual energy. The gentle hum of devotional chants and the aroma of incense added to the sacred ambiance. It was prohibited to take photos inside the temple for obvious reasons and to maintain a peaceful atmosphere for prayer. The cold breeze during the season and the starry sky above made the experience even more memorable. Overall, it was a visit to cherish, entirely filled with divine spirituality, making this entire moment unforgettable. I highly recommend everyone to visit this place.
Pr4khxr — Google review
The temple is constructed entirely of pristine white marble, which gives it a luminous, elegant appearance — especially striking at dusk when it’s lit up. It sits in a convenient and central location in Jaipur, making it easily accessible for visitors. Inside, the main sanctum houses idols of Lord Vishnu (Narayana) and Goddess Lakshmi carved from a single piece of marble. The architecture carries a meaningful theme: the three domes represent the three major religions of India (Hinduism, Islam, Christianity) emphasising unity and inclusivity. Surrounding lush gardens and open space add to the peaceful ambience — a good place to pause and reflect away from the bustle. Entry is free and available for all visitors; you don’t have to pay an admission fee. Because it’s popular and centrally located, it can get quite crowded, especially around the evening aarti (prayer) times and on weekends. One visitor review: > “I visited 11 o’clock in the morning and that time was crowded so I would recommend to visit early morning.” Photography rules are a bit restrictive in some parts: you’re allowed around the exterior and gardens, but inside the sanctum it may be prohibited or restricted. Parking and traffic around the area can be a bit of hassle, given it’s in a busy zone of Jaipur. (Multiple local comments mention this.) Because marble floors are used throughout, the interior can feel quite cool / slippery — something to keep in mind if you have elderly company or small children. One observation: > “The temple is very cold from inside and while walking we can feel it in our feet.” 📍 Visit Experience & Tips Best time to visit: Early morning after opening for a more peaceful experience; or early evening when the temple is illuminated and the light on the marble is particularly beautiful. Dress modestly (as in most temples), remove your footwear at the designated area, and maintain decorum. If you’re interested in architecture and photography, allow some time to appreciate the carvings, stained-glass windows and the symbolism (e.g., philosophers and saints from different traditions are depicted). Because crowds peak at weekends and festival times (e.g., Janmashtami, Diwali), if you prefer a quieter visit go on a weekday. After your visit, the gardens provide a nice break — you can simply sit, relax, enjoy the greenery. Nearby attractions make it easy to combine this visit with other local sightseeing. For instance, you might visit the temple and then head to another spot in Jaipur on the same day.

Its a beautiful temple built of pristine white marble. A must visit. Consideration 1. Avoid visiting in the afternoon, the temple is closed in the afternoon. Check the time. 2. The temple varanda and premises stay open when the temple is closed. 3. 4PM could be the best time to visit. 4. Carry an umbrella in the sunny days in summer. Pros 1. Really beautiful and well made 2. Paid parking is available 3. The temple staff is helpful 4. Many many photo opportunities

*A visit to Gyan Museum at Jaipur - a hidden gem to visit* As we were landing into Jaipur airport I had my Google Map ON and powered by GPS, I was seeing the approach at Jaipur Airport.. A place near the Airport GYAN MUSEUM came up and it intrigued me and I checked the website after landing.. It was a museum housing hundreds of artifacts collected by Shri Gyan Chand Dadha (Jain), which was his private collection, now opened for public viewing after his death, as allowed by his sons, as a homage for their Dad. Visit is by invitation only and we can request a viewing after sending them an email and after getting a confirmation back from the curators, who like to restrict the number of people who could visit, at the same time. I emailed them requesting for a booking, however I got no reply in the 1 hr of sending it, being lunch time. I was close to the museum area and had a little time on hand and hence decided to reach unannounced and hoped we would manage to get a viewing, as we were unsure of the visit there on the following day. We got lucky and the curators let us have a viewing. The visit was everything as promised on the museum website and the artifacts on display were marvelous pieces collected by Gyanji during his lifetime from various places and sources. His collection, 1st started with 2 silver Hookah mouth pieces which were gifted to him on his 16th birthday. He thereafter collected various Hookah mouth pieces and their base, the largest no of pieces of Hookah which are on display at any museum. This was as informed by the curators. There are a large number of textiles, clothes, specs, watches and clocks, coins from the various periods of history, guns, antique pieces, a library which has a lot of books which pertain to the eras gone by. There were Jain manuscripts and exquisite miniature paintings done with a 0 size paintbrush or with a single/few hairs of a squirrel. The ganjifa cards, originating from Sawantwadi in Maharashtra and also pendants which were fully made and some which were incomplete, as they were missing the hoops, were also on display. I really loved the chess set which had the pieces of both sides made with ruby and emeralds. A book which caught my eye was "30,000 years of Art". The oldest paintings as discovered in India are dated from about 10,000 BCE - old cave paintings at the Udaygiri Caves and at Bhimbhetka in MP. So I really would like to know more about the 30,000 year old Art from across the world. I will look into that in due course, during my travels when possible. Gyanji - a jeweller by profession, had a vast, very exquisite jewellery pieces which were on display, which was from his private and his family collections, bought and collected across the years by him. The Gyan Museum is a lesser known place of visit and I had never heard of it during the more than 20 years of frequent visits to Jaipur, but I am pardoned because this place has opened for public viewing only in the last 10 years during which time my visits to Jaipur were majorly reduced. I highly recommend this as a to-do place to visit and the curators mentioned that they are featured on Trip Advisor as a place to visit while in Jaipur and I fully support that, although I just chanced upon the place by looking on Google Maps. Being away from the main city, and closer to the Jaipur Airport, even then it is a place worth seeing and by spending a few hours visiting while you are in Jaipur. The curators, Nikita and Adib explained the artifacts in great detail and I applaud them as well. A must do during a visit to Jaipur👏🏻👏🏻

Shri Digamber Jain Atishya Kshetra temple in Sanganer is a revered ancient Jain temple and pilgrimage site in Jaipur. As a major Jain pilgrimage center, it attracts devotees from far and wide. The temple's principal deity, Lord Rishabhanatha (Adinatha), the first Tirthankara, is said to have an idol dating back around 4000 years. The temple's construction was completed in its final phase during the 10th century AD, as indicated by an inscription on one of the Toranas from VS 1011. The temple's architecture is characterized by the Nagara style. Photography is not permitted inside the temple. This historic site was my first stop during my Jaipur tour.

The saviour of Mewar – Lord Eklingji The temples in India speaks volume about the historical events , culture and beliefs of people, they are not just a sacred space but cultural and social centers as well .The article delves into the rich history and origin of Eklingji who is considered as the integral part of the Mewar kingdom’s Heritage. The study explores the historical background of the temple by examining the literary and archaeological evidences and provides a valuable insight into history and culture making it a essential read for the Indian heritage enthusiast . Eklingji, the king of Mewar, is revered as the true monarch of the state, known as Lord Eklingji. The title of Raja is associated with this deity, while the rulers are called Maharaja and serve as the Diwan of the state. The term “Eklingji” originated from two Sanskrit words: “Ek,” which signifies the oneness and unification of different forms of God, reflecting the deity’s power, and “Linga,” meaning phallic symbol, representing progeny, procreation, and fertility. Eklingji is considered the family deity of the Mewar royal lineage, who ruled the kingdom. The temple serves as a site for ancestral worship, hosting royal rituals and maintaining tributes to the lord. The history of Mewar is closely linked to the construction of the remarkable Eklingji Temple, which holds significant cultural and spiritual value. This temple is located in the Aravalli Valley, about fourteen miles north of Udaipur, in an area known as Kailashpuri. It is believed to be the earliest region within the Maru region where the Guhilot dynasty established control. Various legends surround the origin of Eklingji, represented by the four-faced linga. The Eklingji Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the supreme power of the universe, and it is regarded as one of the earliest and most important examples of Shiva worship in the form of a linga. The four-faced idol, made of black marble, is enshrined at the center of the temple within the Garbha Griha. In the 6th century, the Scythians, a powerful Asian tribe, invaded India and conquered several parts of the northwestern region. During their conquest, they attacked the family of the Maitraka king Shiladitya, who ruled from Ballabhipura and was ultimately killed. The only survivor of this attack was Queen Pushpavati, who was not in the city at the time, as she was on a pilgrimage to pray for the well-being ofher unborn child..The child was named Guhil, meaning “the cave-born.” He spent his childhood with other children of the Bhil tribe in the forest. Eventually, Guhil became the next king of the Bhil tribe and was granted a large tract of land from the forest as the tribe’s chief. The ceremony of applying the vermilion “tikka” on the king’s forehead has been a common practice in Mewar for the past fourteen years. Bappa Rawal spent his childhood with the tribal who resided in Aravalli mountains. He possessed the quality of a great leader, as his attire seemed like that of a Brahmin and his appearance like that of a royal clan. All the children of his age followed Bappa’s orders whenever any disagreement took place between them. He was a dispute settler, and all the children were fond of his generous behavior and respected his decisions. Vashistha Rawal in the custody of whom Bappa was nurtured allotted him the duty of grazing cows, Bappa enjoyed the work given to him and fulfilled responsibility judiciously. In the morning after having breakfast, he went to the pasture with the cows taking in hand a small pot of food in the late evening he came back with the cows. In Tretayug, Nandini, the daughter of Kamdhenu, the celestial cow, came here to seek protection from sage Vishwamitra and overcome the forces of the rishi by the grace of lord shiva, so pleased her master Vashistha, that he shielded her from the Rishi’s wrath. It is said that the famous Sarp Yajna of Mahabharata was performed here

We visited Eklingji Temple near Udaipur recently, and it was a divine experience! This ancient temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a spiritual gem with a rich history dating back to the 8th century. Built by Bappa Rawal, the founder of the Mewar dynasty, it’s been a sacred site for centuries, revered by Rajput rulers. The intricate carvings, four-faced Shiva lingam, and serene ambiance left us in awe. The temple’s architecture, with its towering spire and detailed stonework, is breathtaking. The priests were warm, sharing fascinating stories about the temple’s Mewar legacy, making the visit deeply meaningful. The surrounding hills add a peaceful charm, perfect for reflection. We enjoyed tasty prasad and local snacks from nearby stalls. Visiting Eklingji felt like connecting with history and divinity.

This is a very beautiful religious place to visit around Udaipur. It is about 22 km away from Udaipur. It was built by Bappa Rawal in 734 AD. The temple is famous all over India due to a four-faced idol and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Eklingji temple has been the deity of Mewar rulers. There is a group of many small temples along with the main temple in the temple complex. People who offer flower garlands also sit in the complex. Sitting there gives ultimate peace. There is a beautiful lake nearby. In which lotus flowers are grown. There are chhatris of the historical temple and the wall of the rampart nearby. Sitting there, one can see the beautiful view of the beautiful hills etc. Keep one thing in mind before coming to Eklingji temple. The darshan starts here after 5:30 pm. You cannot carry leather belts and any leather items, shoes etc., mobiles, so keep them in your own safe places beforehand. Enjoy tea and Mirchi Bada outside Eklingji Temple and make the trip delicious.
