Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early
I excepted more, but Cat Ba island is not really what I thought. Everything in the main island is quite basic, constructions, overpriced restaurants, not good quality seafood (some still nice but not all),…
Only thing I can enjoy more is going to see the sea with the boat tour: nice sea with sunny light, you can take nice pictures and can go swimming there too, visit some caves bypass,…

Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.
I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.
A picturesque place. Peaceful calm, ideally for both couples and family. Best part is it is also very budget friendly. You can spend a week in less than 500 dollars for a couple while staying in good hotels and good food

I recently visited Ha Long Bay, and it was an unforgettable experience. The sheer beauty of the limestone karsts rising dramatically from the emerald green waters is absolutely mesmerizing. The scenery feels like something out of a dream. I opted for a day cruise, which allowed us to explore the caves, enjoy kayaking, and relax while taking in the serene surroundings. Sung Sot Cave was an incredible highlight with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
The boat ride was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you have more time, I highly recommend the overnight cruises, which I plan to do next time.
One small downside was the number of tourists in certain areas, but it didn’t take away from the overall beauty and tranquility of the place. The local food served on the boat was fresh and flavorful, adding an authentic Vietnamese touch to the trip.

Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.
Superb scenery. Tourist attractions packed but was to be expected. Stay a night and take in the amazing surroundings first thing in the morning. Choose your cruise carefully!

Попали на годовщину свадьбы 30 лет совместной жизни и мое день рожденье. Начитавшись отзывов по отношению к русским, Предупредила тезтур что бы связались с отелем и попросили нормальную виллу, что бы не было сюрпризов на праздники при заселении. В итоге получили то что получили:) заселили в виллу C3068. Полнейшая разруха, плитка оторвана, кругом мелкий мусор и сухие листья. Мебели на террасе нет ни стула ни стола. На верхней террасе заросли с мусором, с неработающими лампами, все в очень ветхом состоянии, бассейн с неработающей подсветкой, местами оторванной плиткой, ни Мебели ни лежаков. Кругом пустующие виллы, некоторые видно что по крайней мере покрашены перила и чистенько визуально, попросили поменять, категорично отказали, не важно что номер не соответствует фото, не важно что приехали отметить праздники. Не важно что ни Мебели ни лежаков на террасах. Не важно что все в засохших листьях и грязи. Не стали устраивать истерик и портить себе настроение, заселились в номер решив что на эти праздники уедем в другой отель в город. Время проживания с 3-16 августа. Сегодня 9 августа постельное белье не меняли ни разу, на террасу подмести пол не зашли ни разу:) вчера не выдержала, вымыла перила вторую и нижнюю террасу, прополола землю собрала все в пакеты и выставила у двери. Просто забрали мусор не моргнув и глазом. Стоит отметить что при этом полотенца меняют ежедневно. Пыль не вытирают вообще. На крыльце не подметают вообще. Отель пустой, иногда перед выходными приезжают Китайцы с семьями для них все самое лучшее. Русские как второй сорт по остаточному принципу, отношение не только в этом отеле , абсолютно везде и во всем. На з дня останавливались на первой линии в отеле Южный китай, в номере бизнес с видом на море, брали через букинг, не важно что номер был дорогой и бронировали самостоятельно, отношение такое же! Возвращаясь к этому отелю, по возвращении из города на свою виллу увидели тарелочку с 4 персиками, я поняла что это презент на день рожденье, никакой открытки не было. Туристов почти нет и это плюс , в термальных источниках половина ванн не работает но это не критично. И на рецепшен и на территории отеля везде чувствуется превосходство своей рассы и принижение нас( не лично нас:) а наших, есть ещё 4 человека отдыхающих в основном здании ) причём абсолютно во всем: если шаттл то сначала забирает их потом нас, если стоишь на завтраке и заказываешь суп а в процессе приготовления подходит китаец то сделают сначала ему. Когда то этот отель был на уровне, сейчас здесь пустота и запущение. Ни спа, ни массажа, ни нормального ресторана, ни магазина, ничего не функционирует. В город курсирует автобус, но очень неудобно по времени выезд из отеля в 9:30 и 13:00 обратно в 14:30 если позже то только на такси. Вывод: эта страна абсолютно не для туристов, ты никогда не почувствуешь гостеприимства как на Бали, Тайланде, Малайзии, Вьетнаме и тд. Везде есть свои плюсы и минусы, но такого как здесь нет нигде. Откройте букинг и можно сразу увидеть — этот отель принимает только жителей кнр, или для жителей материка КНР представляется номер с видом на море, и тд. Если же все таки едете на Хайнань то только не в этот отель, слишком много минусов. Гораздо проще ездить сюда на термальные источники и уезжать обратно.

Panda 🐼 lives here! The Panda hall is amazing, one can have a close encounter with panda, haha behind the glass okay. It’s like a mini panda museum where one can get a comprehensive learning about panda, then watch them play. The gift shop has neat items, the panda bookmarks are a keeper.
The trolley ride is fun. It takes you around the whole place. There are feeding stations at most of the stops, family having blasts interacting with the various animals. The feeding created a bonding to make people feel they are more than just a tourist here.

If you have enough money and time and don't need anything more than beach lounging and a little exploration, then you have a couple of options. Some people prefer to go for a quick day trip, leaving early in the morning on the first ferry from the mainland (around 8:30 AM), hoping to check in early and drop off their luggage upon arrival. However, most hotels have strict check-in and check-out times, and rooms may not be available until around 12-1:00 PM. So, you may find yourself waiting, killing time, and hoping that other guests will check out soon so you can get your room. If you're not traveling overnight, you can arrive on the island, drop off your luggage, rent a motorbike for sightseeing, have lunch, and then check in later. If the hotel has rooms available, you might be able to check in early, but if not, there's usually no compensation from the hotel as check-in and check-out times are standard policies.
During the rest of your time on the island, from noon on day 1 to noon on day 2, you can explore various spots on Cô Tô Island. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even visit Cô Tô Con for some Instagram-worthy photo ops, but then you'll have to pack up, check out, and head back to the port. If you manage to avoid excessive BBQ and alcohol consumption, you should be able to wake up the next day in good shape. However, if you overindulge, you might find yourself sleeping in, having breakfast, doing some last-minute sightseeing, and then heading back. Many people will tell you that this limited time is all you have, so make the most of it. However, it's entirely up to you to decide how you want to spend your time based on your preferences and conditions.

Such a great island, the streets are super clean because the governor and resident are seriously in protecting the environtment as saying no with plastic things, moreover, the people are friendly, the air is fresh, the scenery view are extrodary. I highly recommend you visit that island once.

Super cool experience! The scenic views were amazing and super beautiful. It’s crazy to see how vast and big this bay is. It really tops the pictures and videos you see. It’s like King Kong was about to pop over the side hahah. But overall it was super peaceful the water was cold when we went but not terrible if you want a refreshing dip. It was very clean and taken care of where we went. I definitely recommend checking it out if you want to.
After boarding; a safety briefing; and lunch, we head off to Lan Ha Bay (at the south of the Halong Bay maritime national park area), where we visit the “Dark and Bright Cave” via local bamboo boat. Must admit though … as caves go, I have seen better.
Best experience ever in Vietnam! Our tour guide, Tony, was incredibly kind. The food was absolutely delicious, and we made so many new friends from Europe. After dinner, we had a fun karaoke party, tried squid fishing, and even learned how to make spring rolls. The highlight of the trip was definitely kayaking—the area was peaceful and less crowded. The biking adventure the next day on Cat Ba Island was equally amazing. The scenery was breathtaking. 100000/5 stars!

Good people, very friendly and helpful. In the morning there is not often someone at the desk as they are preparing food for breakfast. You have different options for breakfast. 4 egg options and 1 pancake option. Due to some problems we decided to stay longer and that was no problem. Our laundry didn't feel properly done though as it felt like a lot of softener was used but no stains were really removed.
Other downside was that the elevator didn't work for 2 times/days. But there was construction going on next door so I think that was the problem.

Rather overpriced. Photos look much better. This is a very basic room worth 10$ not 20$+ We saw they used to have a great breakfast... But reading the other reviews they have changed it after Covid. It was a disaster. We decided to skip the breakfast the following days. They send you to the neighbour hotel. It is the most horrible buffet we had in Vietnam. Consisting of just some toast and awful soup. Owner seems to do some drill where he offers to help whenever we need, but this all seems fake.
This is such a nice little hotel. My wife and I stayed four nights in a double room with very spacious beds and everything was super clean. The breakfast was nice. The cheese and ham omelette can be recommended. The people who run the hotel are also really sweet. They helped us rent a scooter and extend our stay with two more nights. This place is such good value. The only downside is that the rooms are not that well sound isolated within the building, but it does a pretty good job keeping the noise from outside away. And the hotel is nicely located a bit away from the main street.

Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.

Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early

Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.
I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.

We really loved our 3-day, 2-night cruise, it felt like a soft landing in Ha Long Bay. The staff were incredibly kind, generous, and always eager to accommodate anything we needed. The trip was well-organized and peaceful, with just the right amount of activities like kayaking, cave & pearl farm visits, swimming... easy and enjoyable for both adults and kids.
It was also a very family-friendly experience. Our kids felt welcome, and the staff made them feel seen and included, which made it that much more special.
Something small that didn’t resonate with us as much, though offered in good spirit was live Vietnamese violinist playing a Vietnamese violin. He played beautifully, but only Western/American songs - which felt a little disconnected from the local setting. We would’ve loved even one or two Vietnamese pieces to connect more deeply with the culture.
During the spring roll-making demonstration (which was fun, cute, and surprisingly practical to learn how to make them) hygiene could be improved. Only hand sanitizer was used by staff and guests, versus everyone washing their hands and having gloves available for all.
That said, overall it was a lovely and memorable experience. A clean, calm, and welcoming cruise that helped us experience Ha Long Bay in a relaxing, effortless way. We’re so glad we did it.

The cruise was fine however was very disappointed with the village trip, this looked like a staged village with restraunts setup by the cruise company. Booked 1 night stay and plan to visit the caves by canoe but the village trip took the afternoon up and due to 1 night stay the only offer to canoe to the caves was at 7:15am. Would have been better time spent in the afternoon canoeing and visiting caves rather than the village and offer village trip next day. Feel.like it's been to commercialised to warrant 5 stars.

My wife and I had an amazing cruise. Transfer to and from our hotel in Hanoï was organised for us, we were on a small 3 cabin boat, in a wooden cabin with all comfort and equipment we needed. The crew spoke English, and were very helpful, especially Phuc, always making sure we were having a nice trip. It was our honeymoon, and we have a couple of surprises waiting for us for the occasion, which we both highly appreciated !

The schedule of activities was a perfect balance of staying busy while also having time to relax. We went bike riding, had a cooking class, enjoyed happy hour at sunset, morning kayaking and stopped at a beach. My husband did the night squid fishing and caught a squid.
We had a deluxe room near the front and the room was more spacious - highly recommend especially if you have a lot of luggage. Everything was nice and clean.
There was a welcome lunch buffet, seated dinner and breakfast buffet. Plenty of food available. They accommodated for vegetarians like myself and other dietary needs. There was made to order options like eggs, noodle soups etc.

First time on a cruise in Halong Bay. The rooms were decent. The bathroom was see through and flooded every time the shower was used.
The crew were friendly, polite and looked after us well. The food and drinks were average. The spring roll making and karaoke was great fun.
I wouldn't stay overnight again as it was difficult to sleep with the sounds of water splashing against the boat all night.
We did a 2 night cruise, and had 2 different guides who didn’t communicate and the second day was a repeat of the first, so we stayed on the boat. The food was average and the room wasn’t cleaned on the second day, which is awful when u can’t flush the toilet paper. Also my husband and 3 Kiwis got an upset stomach after night 2. The food looked good but didn’t taste good. The boat is old and tired and has fake grass covering the uneven deck. Please consider paying a bit more and choose something a bit better.
We had a lovely cruise on Halong Bay on Lavender Cruise. Alex, our tour guide was friendly and informative and provided an enjoyable cruise ensuring we ticked off the highlights of the bay including Ti Top Island and Secret Cave. Alex is extremely knowledgeable about the area and ensured we made it to Secret Cave before the crowds on the second morning. The crew on board the boat ensured we were well fed and looked after.

One of the best experiences during my stay in Vietnam. The cruise was booked last minute because other cruise company tried to cheat us. And we are so happy we booked Lavender cruise at the end.
The guide Bobby is very nice, helpful and tried to make everything so the passangers were satisfied. They upgraded our room so we had a big corner room surrounded by windows with stunning view.
Main attractions of the cruise - Titop island, kayaking and Surprising cave are very crowded but thanks to Bobby we had kayaking only by our small group. There are also night attractions - karaoke and squid fishing.
The food on the ferry is very delicious. Mostly they serve seafood so if you have other preferences you need to inform them in advance. The cocktails on board are quite expensive (6-7$ per one) but it is a common practice on ferry cruises in Hà long.
We were very lucky to have a great weather and to meet great people on the boat so if I could, I would rate this cruise 6 out of 5 because everything was way better than we expected.
Took one of their vessels on a two-day tour with a group. Had a very pleasant stay. All looked clean and staff was very friendly. I enjoyed my stay on board.
our corner rooms were the largest and quite comfortable with decent beds and lots of windows to look out. the food was plentiful and decent. the transportation from hanoi wasn’t very comfortable but the way back was in a different bus and quite good.
We had an amazing cruise with lavender cruises in Halong Bay. Our guide Alex was so friendly, funny and helpful. We had so much activitiew and the food on board was amazing. Recommend.

Do Son Beach in Haiphong is really beautiful! Just a 45-minute drive from the city center, there are plenty of hotels and resorts, and the local food around is very affordable! Although some private resorts by the beach require an entrance fee, we are so happy here and miss the time when we lived by the sea. Make sure to add Do Son Beach to your travel list! ☀️🏖️

Top beach in Hai Phong city
It was nice to swim around. The water is brown, and some people say that this colour has nothing to do with dirt but only with the composition of the soil in the red river and around that coastal area. I don't know

Around the beach there are plenty of restaurants and some places where you can store your stuff and take a shower on your way back from the beach.
Overall not the best beach I've been to in my life, however, probably one of the best nearby Hanoi.

Best during summer time *April to September* ONLY
It was quite cold and very few ppl on the cruise. In such a case ideally the cruise should cancel so that there are more people and as everyone knows- the more the merrier!!
Unfortunately for us the day was gloomy and cold. Sun was out only the next morning.
Our guide Victor was really good and a sweet chap.
Kayaking, trampoline, Jacuzzi was fun.
We couldn’t swim as it was so cold.
The food on the cruise was just alright. For the first meal they ran out of a few dishes, which seems illogical considering the number of people!!
The second meal was decent, the third and last meal was like a favor on us! So so poor.
Id recommend you to carry a few things from the city- snacks, tea/coffee and most importantly water.
The bar staff and servers were sweet.
Rooms were really spacious. Included toiletries.
I find it weird they ask us to leave the room by 8.30-9am. It simply pointless as we waited a long time at the restaurant level to get to the port and then into the boat. So be prepared to wake up early after a long party night.
Besides the worst part was the house keeping simply walks into your room. Zero sense of security!
Given 3 stars as the cruise it self was good ...but after reading some reviews ..it is easy to get relieved of you're money pretty easy with out a full explanation what services you should have taken part in ..DO NoT buy from a ticket tout even in the main cruise building ..or hotel you will end up paying heaps more and trying to track the tout should anything go wrong is a knight mare...go to the main desk ..ask what options are ..such as what food and what excursions you wish to go on like the row boat as that costs more on to you're ticket ..beware don't rush Into purchasing a ticket from just anyone you won't get the full enjoyment otherwise
Great experience. The food was delicious, the room spacious and clean. The only con was the cold water at the shower. We met nice people, we played cards, danced and had a good time together.
This was a let down considering the amount of money we paid. The hot tubs were cold (and it was barely 15 degrees outside). The “happy hour” was buy 2 get 1 free but had to be cocktails (the website said 2 for 1 any drinks). Drinks were expensive and the bar tending was slow especially considering there was only 25 other people on the cruise. We asked if more people would be joining us and they lied, saying there would be others joining us the next day.
On the last day we were not fed lunch (despite it being on the itinerary) and so if you didn’t get up for breakfast (which was at 7am) you didn’t eat until 6pm that night back in Hanoi.
Wish I had not purchased this expensive cruise.
Five star cruise, five star service, great hosts, great staff, good food and the party night was amazing.
We booked February 16-17 2023, The jacuzzis were all freezing (except for the smallest one which has a capacity of 6 on a boat carrying 70 passengers), on a day where the temperature was 17°c and the staff kept lying to us saying "it is heating for the big party tonight" which we later discovered was only to make us shut up. Also didn't do the drinking games they promised us, there was zero animation and the alcohol is fairly expensive for vietnam. We basically paid over 200$ for a kayaking trip. Ha long bay itself is nice though, you should book with another boat
We booked this tour from our hotel (Fancy Hotel in HaLong). We were picked up from the hotel and were delivered right at the tour boat. The guide spoke English well and was enthusiastic and energetic. Lunch was provided on the boat as well. This tour took us to caves, islands, beaches and kayaking spots and provided us with enough amazing views. We chose this day tour instead of the one night two days tour, and I didn't regret that decision for a second. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Beautiful ancient temple but it seems a little bit rundown. Must-go destination if you want to learn more about difference between Northern and Southern Vietnam temples.
Interesting if you like temples.
One of the few things to do and see in Hai Phong. The trek passes through a busy road with markets and stalls nearby.
The temple is impressive and well looked after with lots of activity, however unless you are interested in temples you won't need much time to spend here.
I heard this temple is very famous to local and people from far away. They come to meet the monk to beg for luck. The temple is within walking distance of local market, so there's always crowded. Parking inside the temple is free; outside 10k vnd.
Great for cruising around the rock formations. This is the main cave (Surprise Cave?). It was quite crowded with a pretty step coming up.
Built over a thousand years ago & could be considered the oldest Temple in the whole of Haiphong. Historical wise the temple was the scene of patriotic fervour against colonial rule during the 1920s
Du Hang Pagoda was established in 17th century. Inside the pagoda are several statues that are intricately engraved in the style of the Nguyen Dynasty.
An old temple, there is a pogada, though on Saturday afternoon, but few people, especially very few young people, you can witness the tich culture and heritage of Buhdism in this culture; Made a friend here as well, we travelled to another interesting temple nearby as well

At first, we planned to go hiking, but once we got there… we immediately decided to take the cable car instead 😆
The journey was pretty easy since we just followed Google Maps. There aren’t many accommodation options in the area—just one resort with direct access to Yen Tu Mountain.
The ride itself was super fun! We got to enjoy endless green scenery along the way 🌿
If you’re in Hanoi and looking for an alternative destination, you should definitely check this place out. Totally worth it! 😉

Breathtaking views, great cable-car system, holy sites and a healthy climb (even with using the cabe -car). It is a very much underrated place in the north of Vietnam. Most foreigners are not even aware of the beauty of the mountain and its pagodas. The local vendors are friendly, have everything from souvenirs to fresh coconut and cold beer. Excellent photo-ops, but so much more. Make sure to visit Yen Tu when in Hanoi or nearby.
It’s cool that just 30 minutes from Hai Phong you can climb the mountains and get an amazing view and see such a rich nature, breath the freshest air🥰 Everything is organized in the best way. You can even get free water, buy food, souvenirs in many places. I sincerely recommend to visit this spot👍

My favorite site in Vietnam, breathtaking and not much tourists!
I visited here on Lunar New Year and it was extremely crowded, so many many people from everywhere came. This place is very huge. There are 2 ways to go visit the temple on top of Yen Tu mountain - take the cable car and hike up or just only do hiking up.
Because I didn’t have much time, then I chose to take the cable car and do hiking in some parts. Omg, the view is incredible, I love it. My private tour guide chose to do hikking up and we met on the top of the mountain. The way to do hikking is not difficult, even the 80 years old lady can do too, I met her on the way when I was very close to the temple on the top of mountain (definitely she did with her family, not alone).
Only 1 small temple on the top of mountain but everyone come there for it. From here, you can see the view 360 degrees, so beautiful!
But 1 thing I don’t like is - the safety on the top of mountain. It will be ok if you visit here on normal day, not holidays or Lunar new year because no many people. No any fences around the rocks and if many people go there at the same time, you will be hustled in the crowd. But anyway, this place is nice to go visit, just be careful when you are on the top of mountain.
Considered as "the ancestral land of Buddhism". An even more interesting thing is the dividing line between Quang Ninh and Bac Giang provinces. If the East belongs to Quang Ninh province, the West of this pagoda belongs to Bac Giang province.
If you don't mind crowds, and want to participate in interesting activities at the temple, you can go from January 10 to March of the lunar calendar. This is the time of the Yen Tu Spring Festival, so there are quite a few tourists from all over the world to visit.

Very beautiful! When you park, if you’re a foreigner the lady sells a ticket for 30k, I refused and waited at my bike and another lady let me in free with only 10k parking 😂 I have to say, the temple is really beautiful inside and there is much to see, especially the pagoda. I recommend it!
