Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Marudhamalai Murugan temple is a Hindu temple located on a hilltop at an elevation of 500 ft in the Western Ghats, about 15 km northwest of Coimbatore city. The temple offers an invigorating atmosphere and allows vehicles to pass through, with buses available for transportation to the top. Dedicated to Lord Muruga, it provides delightful facilities for visitors. Legend has it that the hill is a manifestation of Muruga and is surrounded by lush greenery.
A Peaceful and Stunning Experience at Marudhamalai Temple Visited Marudhamalai Temple and found it to be an incredibly peaceful and divine place, perfect for both devotees and tourists. The entire premises were well maintained, clean, and neatly arranged—credit goes to the temple authorities and the support of local people. We chose to walk up the steps to reach the temple, and although it was a long climb, the journey was worth every step. It became a beautiful experience, especially with my family. The sightseeing and the artistic wall paintings inside the temple were truly stunning—absolutely captivating. The vibrant colors and cultural richness made our visit feel very special. It was a colorful and spiritually uplifting day that we'll always remember.
Anoop — Google review
A must visit temple that perfectly blends spirituality with the beauty of nature. You can either climb the 600+ steps or take the bus service available, but I highly recommend walking, it’s an excellent experience. Once you reach the top, you can truly witness the divine presence of Lord Murugan and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surroundings. If you are visiting Coimbatore, this temple is definitely not to be missed!
Arjun V — Google review
Peaceful and well-maintained temple Visited the Murugan Temple in Coimbatore and had a really calming experience. The temple is clean, well-organized, and has a serene atmosphere. The architecture is beautiful and the surroundings are quiet, making it a nice place to sit and reflect. The darshan was smooth and the staff were helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a spiritual break.
Pranav L — Google review
We will visit here atleast once in a month. You will find peace here. Situated in the hills, if you plan to visit the temple , and if you plan use the steps , you need to reach there before 5pm. Steps are closed after 5pm on all days due to elephants and chetah movement. Two wheelers or four wheelers are not allowed after 7 pm during weekdays and after 5 pm during weekends as well as festival seasons. Four wheelers are not allowed after 5 pm on any day. They have there own small buses carrying from hill bottom to top. But they too stop after 7 pm. Temple closes around 8 to 8.30 pm after Pooja's.
Nagarajan S — Google review
This temple is around 25 kilometres from Coimbatore, the entry fee to hill for car is 30 Rs. This place having limited car parking near the temple, so sometimes becomes difficult to get car parking here. There is a toilet facility there, the cleanliness is average. You have to climb few steps around 100 to reach the temple, there are two line for darshana one general darshana line and second one is special darshana line, the charges for special Darshana is 50 Rs. Per person. The temple situated at the foothills and surrounded by hills, it's a very spiritual experience to visit this temple. From the temple you can see bird view of Coimbatore city.
Makarand S — Google review
We visited the temple on a Friday. On that day, cars were not allowed to go up the hill due to the Krithigai festival, but vehicles with political flags were still permitted. If you are a common devotee, you’ll have to wait longer and face some struggle to get a darshan. Temple buses are available to take devotees up the hill near the temple, but you still need to climb a few steps to reach the main shrine. Senior citizens, patients, and differently-abled people find it difficult to manage this climb. Otherwise, the temple is clean and well-maintained, and some development work is in progress. It would be good if the Government or HR&CE department could improve facilities to help senior citizens and differently-abled devotees reach the temple more easily.
Saravanan M — Google review
Went to this temple during my first visit to Coimbatore. This temple is located 15km from the main city of Coimbatore. The temple is at the base of the hills of western ghats. It is said to be over a 1000yrs old temple with visitors coming from all over India. I went on Friday evening, the experience of going to the temple was not pleasant as we had to wait at the foothills for more than 1 hrs just to go to the top of the hill. There are people manning the entrance of foothill with security. The stop vehicle movement and charge 20rs for parking. The foothills to the entrance closes at 7pm, even local bus service to the top closes at 7pm. Once you go to the hilltop, Darshan is available until 8:30pm. The place has not developed much. Lots of inconvenience for visitors. No proper parking, lack of basic amenities like public toilet, drinking water etc. Very limited shops near the temple. The only good thing is having darshan of Lord Murugan. We were lucky to see Abhishekam of Muruga as well at 8pm. Apart from that the place doesn't give a good temple atmosphere or a serene experience. Govt must take up the task of developing the place at foothills with hotels and shops for visitors. May be due to forest area and western ghats they might have restricted the development activities also. There are elephant movement at stairways when going towards the hilltop. Please be careful and do not litter the place. Try visiting during morning hours on weekdays for a better experience. Om Muruga. Vetrivel Muruganukku Arogara.

This is a really good view spot in Ooty and a must visit, it is the tallest point in the Nilgiris. The experience was decent, first you are supposed to buy a ticket, but before you get in line for the ticket, you have to enter the market, which had clothes and souvenirs. There are may cameramen present there who will click and print photos on the spot. There is also a watchtower, which you can climb up to get a better view from the Peak. The road leading up to this peak is also scenic, with tall trees.

Doddabetta Peak, located approximately 5 km from Ooty town, holds the distinction of being one of the highest peaks in the region. It serves primarily as a viewpoint, offering high-altitude panoramic views of the entire Ooty area. Approach: The drive to the summit is scenic, winding through roads lined with eucalyptus trees. Corridor & Shopping: The corridor leading up to the main viewpoint is lined with several shops selling local handicrafts, shawls, and salted snacks. Facilities: The peak features the main viewpoint area and a watchtower for enhanced viewing. Entry Fee: An entry ticket is required, available near the entrance. The current rate is ₹10 per adult. Note: Visitors should be aware that the primary attraction is the view itself, as the peak has limited other activities.

A few minutes away from Ooty centre, it's worth visiting. At Doddabetta checkpoint, around Rs 50-60 deducted for car entry. Entrance fee is Rs 10. Have to walk a couple of steps to go to the viewing point. There's a small watch tower. There's also a few steps leading down to another viewpoint. Overall, amidst the hills of Ooty and Doddabetta, the views are scenic and serene.

One of the great spots to experience Ooty . I wanted to see sunrise but looks like they allow only after 8 am & they follow stringent timelines on open n close so don’t bother visiting after or before official time . They are many good scenic spot while climbing the peak as well .

Ooty Lake is one of the most iconic attractions in the hill station of Ooty, and it offers a pleasant escape for anyone looking to unwind amid nature. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees and gentle hills, the lake has a charming calmness that makes it perfect for a leisurely afternoon. The highlight here is boating—whether you choose a pedal boat, rowboat, or motorboat, the experience is peaceful and scenic. The cool breeze, misty air, and reflections of the surrounding greenery make the ride especially enjoyable. The area around the lake also has small snack stalls, a children’s play area, and a few fun attractions, making it a good spot for families and couples alike. That said, the place can get crowded during peak tourist seasons, and some areas near the entrance feel a bit commercial. But once you’re actually on the water, the beauty of Ooty shines through. Overall, Ooty Lake is a relaxing and picturesque stop—ideal for anyone visiting the “Queen of the Hills” and wanting a quick dose of natural charm mixed with light recreation.
Venugopal — Google review
It was like normal pond. Unclear water ! Very crowded place offer multiple water sports/fun activities. If visiting OOTY and have free time to kill, one may visit.
Funny C — Google review
Ooty Lake is a captivating man-made expanse, established in 1824, lying gracefully amidst the Nilgiri hills. Its 65-acre spread is framed by lush Eucalyptus groves and offers a central, picturesque retreat from the town's hustle. It serves as the strategic heart of Ooty's tourist attractions. The primary draw is the Boathouse, managed by the TTDC, which offers a range of water sports. Visitors can choose between leisurely pedal boats for self-rowing, traditional row boats with a designated driver, or swift motorboat rides, depending on their group size and preference. Boating charges are tiered with a minimal entry fee (around ₹15 per person). For example, a popular 4 seaters pedal boat ride costs approximately ₹260 plus a refundable deposit for a 30 minutes duration, offering an affordable family activity. Safety is prioritized; life jackets are mandatory and provided for all riders, ensuring a secure experience on the water. It’s important to heed instructions and avoid standing up to maintain stability and fully enjoy the tranquil mountain breeze. Beyond the water, the area features a bustling small amusement park and various local stalls selling goods like eucalyptus oil and homemade chocolates. Despite the seasonal crowds, Ooty Lake remains a scenic, essential stop for visitors to the Queen of Hill Stations.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve offers an exciting wildlife experience with options for open jeep, bus, or gypsy safaris during morning and evening hours. The reserve is known for its diverse wildlife including deer, gaurs, elephants, and a variety of bird species. While tiger sightings are not guaranteed, the journey through the deep forest is described as breathtaking. Visitors should be prepared to exercise patience and maintain silence during the safari.
I visited Bandipur Tiger Reserve in the afternoon and had a wonderful experience. Although I didn’t spot a tiger, I saw plenty of wildlife, including many beautiful peacocks, playful monkeys, majestic elephants, and lots of deer. The forest is lush and peaceful, making it a perfect place for nature lovers. A must-visit if you want to enjoy nature and wildlife up close!

A beautiful wildlife sanctuary with rich biodiversity and serene landscapes. The safari is well-managed, giving a good chance to spot elephants, deer, bison, peacocks, and if lucky, the majestic tiger or leopard. The forest feels untouched and peaceful. A must-visit for nature and wildlife lovers seeking an authentic jungle experience. However, you have to wait for getting tickets as there is only one window and there is always crowd.

Pls pick camper or gypsy don't go for bus safari , they won't take you many places , the moment the bus starts from ticker counter that timings starts which does not make any sense , from ticket counter to safari road it will take 30 mins , so in ( Bus safari )90 mins 30 mins is wasted , better choose to camper or gypsy , mainly to spot tiger you need a sheer luck but however even they wont put any efforts on that.

Better you buy tickets online so you will have separate counter for buying tickets even if you buy online you need to get that from counter with vehicle number and seat number try to reach there 35-40 minutes before

Shivanasamudra, located in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district, is a mesmerizing sight where the Kaveri River gracefully divides into two gorgeous falls. The river cascades down the hills, creating a captivating view as it traverses through rocks and ravines. Additionally, the area is home to a historic hydroelectric power station dating back to 1902.
It was a great experience. You have few food stalls, a home stay and plenty of places to sit for a while. Make sure avoid rainy season since you have no sufficient place to get shelter. The view is really good and worth the trip. There are few side seeing on the way to the waterfall. Since the waterfall premise is full monkeys, need to take extra precautions on your vehicle and belongings.

Beautiful waterfalls during the monsoon. It has a very spectacular view. Parking is available near the waterfalls. Roads are good till we reach the destination.

i. Shivanasamudra Falls is a scenic beauty of silvery water of Kaveri river, dropping into the ravines, from the hills tops, near Malavalli, a sugarcane town. ii. Directions: 133 kms from Bengaluru and 78 kms from Mysore, on the state highway, Maddur - Kollegala Road. iii. Plenty of seating place at different levels, socialise and photograph. iv. Closeby restaurant, souvenirs shopping available.

Breathtakingly beautiful. It takes you a while to get there but it's so worth it. I went on Independence day so there was a lot of crowd there so I would suggest going during offseason to peacefully listen to gushing sound of the falls. The viewing area is vast and there is enough space to accommodate a lot of people, you just have to be careful of the crowds there. Plenty of roadside food options too. Definitely worth a trip.

It's a beautiful place it visit specially during monsoon season when the water is released from KRS dam. The beauty of this place can't be expressed in words you need to come n experience by yourself. The flow of water from the rocks is just like milk flowing through it, that's the beauty of this place. I suggest this place for a one day trip. Though the government is taking entry fees the road to such beautiful place is in worst condition from many years, since many people visit this place they should develop proper road to here.

One of the best One day trip place to visit if you are in Bangalore. July to August perfect time to catch hold of Cauvery water falling from the hill rocks. Roads are very nice, it takes approximately 2.5 hours from Bangalore. If someone starts at 6am. Breakfast can be planned on Kanakapura road side restaurants and easily by 9am you will reach the spot. Going early avoid entry and exit traffic at the spot. Big land with Ample parking available near the falls, don't go crossing the parking ground since it's dead end it will be difficult to get U turn done, only bike parking can be done there. Govt has constructed the view points in 3 to 4 spots in a step wise manner for us to view the falls from different angles. Suggest to take umbrella since this is raining season. You get snacks and juice there. Mobile signal is weak here, UPI payment can be difficult better to carry cash.

Journey was so beautiful with hill n palm tress view. Destination is blessed with Beautiful waterfalls with two sides – Gaganachukki and Bharachukki. Best in monsoon when the flow is huge.Last but not least don't forget to for Kaveri river baoting.Nice spot for a quick trip from Bangalore/Mysore. Gets crowded on weekends, but worth it for the view!

I visited in the second week of July, and it was truly great to witness the waterfall in full flow. There is ample parking available, which is very convenient. Please note that you cannot go close to the waterfall or touch the water for safety reasons. This is a must-visit place for a one-day trip from Bangalore.

During our recent trip to Mysore, we had the pleasure of visiting the Somnathapura Temple, and it was absolutely worth it! I highly recommend setting aside half a day or more to truly soak in the beauty and history of this incredible site. The parking fee was a reasonable Rs. 40, and the entry fee was just Rs. 20 per person—definitely a steal for such an enriching experience. As soon as we arrived, we understood why this temple is nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The intricate carvings and detailed sculptures left us in awe; it's hard to believe that such artistry was achieved entirely by hand! The patience and skill of the artisans who created this masterpiece are truly commendable. One of the aspects I appreciated most about Somnathapura Temple was the absence of pandits and rituals inside, unlike many other temples. This allowed us to explore the temple freely without any restrictions on photography. We were able to wander around, taking in every corner and sculpture at our own pace, which made the experience even more memorable. If you're in the Mysore area, don't miss out on visiting Somnathapura Temple—it's a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into India's rich cultural heritage!

The temple's architecture is equally impressive, with its star-shaped plan and soaring tower. The use of soapstone as the primary building material has allowed for the creation of incredibly intricate carvings, which seem to shimmer and glow in the soft light. One of the most striking features of the temple is its use of symmetry and balance. Every element, from the placement of the deities to the design of the carvings, seems to be carefully planned to create a sense of harmony and balance. Overall, the Somnathpur Keshava Temple is a true masterpiece of Indian architecture and a testament to the skill and creativity of the Hoysala artisans. If you're ever in the area, it's definitely worth a visit.

Shri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple, Belur. A place where words fall short and even the best photographs fail to capture its soul. Standing before this 12th-century Hoysala masterpiece, I felt like I was walking inside a living scripture. Every inch of this temple carved from soapstone carries a story… scenes from the Ramayana, Lord Vishnu’s divine forms, dancers, warriors, celestial beings — all frozen in time yet so alive to the heart. It’s humbling to think that centuries ago, in golden evenings lit by countless diyas and moonlight, this temple must have shimmered like a dream. I could almost imagine the hymns in the air, the fragrance of incense, and devotees circling the temple with faith as unshakeable as the stone beneath their feet. If only stones could speak. What moved me even more is its resilience. Despite invasions and destruction over hundreds of years, this sacred site still stands tall — strong, intricate, proud… as though protecting every story it ever held. The carvings are so detailed that not a single corner is left untouched, reminding us of the unmatched brilliance and devotion of its creators. And today, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it continues to shine — beautifully maintained, peaceful, clean (even the restrooms were spotless!), and deeply rooted in cultural pride. Walking here, I didn’t just see history… I felt it. Forever grateful for places like these that remind us who we are, where we come from, and how rich our heritage truly is. If you ever want to touch history with your soul, stand here, listen to the silence, and let the stone tell its stories.

Shri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple is about an hour’s scooter ride from Mysore, and the journey itself is beautiful, passing through the South Indian countryside. This 13th-century UNESCO temple isn’t very large, but it’s definitely worth a visit. You can easily spend around an hour exploring the carvings and atmosphere, and the entry fee is only about 3 USD (parking not included). It was calm and quiet when I went (especially during the monsoon season), which made it a perfect place for silence, reflection, and of course some beautiful photos. You can hire a guide if you’d like, but with a bit of AI assistance for dates and background info, I felt I got along just fine — and honestly, how many numbers and years do we really remember? If you do decide on a guide, read up beforehand about realistic fees and tipping. I’d recommend planning half a day: visit the temple, enjoy the peaceful vibe, and maybe tie it in with a short tour around the surrounding area. A wonderful spot for both culture and calm. The Chennakesava Temple, also referred to as Chennakeshava Temple and Keshava Temple, is a Vaishnava Hindu temple on the banks of River Kaveri at Somanathapura, Mysuru, Karnataka, India. The temple was consecrated in 1258 CE by Somanatha Dandanayaka, a general of the Hoysala King Narasimha III. The stone carvings are very intricate and very beautiful. This temple is built using interlocking mechanisms and complete temple can be dissembled and assembled. Please do not touch the carvings it’s been already destroyed by Muslim invaders, as a responsible citizen of India we will preserve and respect the monument and surroundings too.

Sights & Landmarks
Perched atop the Chamundi hills in Mysore, the Mysuru Shri Chamundeshwari Thayi Temple is a traditional Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Durga. It features statues of Nandi and Mahishasura, the demon, and offers breathtaking panoramic views. The temple is steeped in history and legend, with its rituals closely tied to the story of goddess Chamundeshwari's triumph over the buffalo-headed demon Mahishasura.
The Chamundeshwari Temple is one of the most sacred and iconic temples in Mysore, situated on the Chamundi Hills. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the presiding deity of Mysore. The atmosphere here is very peaceful and spiritual, with a beautiful view of the entire Mysore city from the hilltop. ✨ Highlights: The temple’s architecture is stunning with its tall, intricately carved gopuram. Well-maintained premises and a strong spiritual vibe. Panoramic view of Mysore Palace and the city lights from the hill. Free shoe-stand and drinking water facility available. ⏰ Best Time to Visit: Early morning or evening to avoid crowds and enjoy pleasant weather. 🚗 Accessibility: You can reach the temple by car, bus, or even by climbing the 1,000+ steps for a divine experience.

Chamundeshwari Hill Temple in Mysuru is a must-visit landmark for its striking seven-tiered gopuram, panoramic city views, and powerful spiritual vibe. The temple’s Dravidian architecture and ancient history, with the iconic Chamundi idol symbolizing the victory over Mahishasura, create a truly atmospheric setting. Clean premises, ample space, and easy access make the visit comfortable. The massive Nandi statue on the 700 step is a highlight not to miss alongwith mahabaleshwar and narayana temple just behind chamundi temple. You can sit on stairs behind Mahabaleshwar Temple to enjoy sunset

The Shree Chamundeshwari Devi Temple, perched atop the scenic Chamundi Hills, is more than just a religious site—it is the very heart and soul of Mysuru, offering an unforgettable blend of spirituality, history, and natural beauty. My visit here was truly a highlight of exploring the city. The temple is a revered Shakti Peetha, deeply rooted in mythology as the place where Goddess Chamundeshwari (a fierce form of Shakti) slew the demon king Mahishasura, from whom the name 'Mysuru' is derived. Dating back to the 12th century, the temple’s current magnificence is largely due to the patronage of the Wodeyar royal family, who adopted the Goddess as their tutelary deity. The temple is a stellar example of Dravidian architecture, instantly recognizable by its towering, seven-tiered Gopuram (entrance tower), which is adorned with intricate carvings and topped with seven golden Kalashas. The silver-plated entrance doors and the peaceful atmosphere inside the Navaranga Hall truly convey a sense of ancient, royal devotion. The location itself, nearly 3,500 feet above sea level, is captivating. The drive up the hill is scenic, and the summit offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city of Mysuru. From the viewpoint, you can clearly see landmarks like the Mysore Palace and Karanji Lake. For those interested in a spiritual and physical challenge, the climb up the 1,008 steps is highly recommended, as is stopping to admire the colossal monolithic Nandi statue—Lord Shiva's mount—situated halfway up the hill. As the temple attracts devotees globally, it can get very crowded, especially on weekends and during the auspicious Ashada Shukravara (Fridays in Ashada month) and the spectacular Dasara festival. To ensure a smoother darshan, I highly recommend purchasing the Special Entry Ticket (₹100) or the VIP Darshan Ticket (₹300) to bypass the longer general queue. Public transport via KSRTC buses is frequent, and ample (paid) parking is available. Remember to follow the modest dress code and note that the hill area is strictly a No Plastic Zone.
Sreedevi B — Google review
Visited the Chamundeshwari Temple on Nov 1st during Rajyotsava— the darshan itself was truly divine and powerful, you can really feel the energy of the goddess. However, the overall experience was quite stressful. The temple gets extremely crowded, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Even with a VIP pass, we had to wait for hours in the queue. Entry tickets cost ₹30 for general darshan and ₹100 for special darshan, but everything is cash only. Crowd management was poor, with no separate lines for senior citizens, families with small kids, or differently-abled devotees. It was hard to stand for long, and the pushing made it uncomfortable. The staff were not very polite, and there was a lot of confusion inside. Parking was also badly managed, adding to the frustration.Govt really need to improve crowd management and cleanliness of Chamundi devi temple. On the positive side, the temple’s divine atmosphere, architecture, and the powerful darshan of Chamundeshwari Devi make it worth visiting at least once. The authorities just need to improve arrangements so devotees can experience peace along with devotion.

Chamundi Temple is a beautiful and divine place in Mysuru, built during the reign of the Mysore Wadiyar kings. It is believed that Goddess Chamundeshwari killed the demon Mahishasura here, which is how Mysuru got its name. The temple’s 1,008 stone steps and the massive Nandi statue carved from a single rock reflect its glorious history. They also serve delicious prasada at specific timings (as captured in the picture). This sacred temple should be well maintained for future generations, and it’s our duty to keep the surroundings clean and preserve its devotion and heritage. A must-visit! 🙏

Temple is good it is on the chamundi hill, here you can see devi chamundi statue inside the temple by puchasing the ticket (general ticket- 30 Rupess, VIP Datshan- 100 Rupess) per person. You can visit nandi statue which is nearby to the temple nearly 300 steps down. You can have a picture with most famous Mahisasura statue. Near the mahisasura statue only you can get the bus also to enter in the city again. Don't forget to take picture here from the hill top from where you can see the whoe Mysore city.

Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, commonly known as Mysuru Zoo, is a well-established and popular zoo located near the palace in Mysore, India. It was established by Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur and is known for its cleanliness, conservation breeding of endangered species, and recreation of natural habitats for captive animals.
We had a wonderful experience visiting Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysore Zoo). It’s one of the best-maintained zoos in India clean, spacious, and beautifully organized. The variety of animals and birds is truly impressive, and the enclosures are thoughtfully designed to give them a natural environment. 🐅🦜 The staff do a great job of maintaining the place and ensuring visitor safety and cleanliness. It’s an educational and enjoyable experience for both kids and adults. A must-visit attraction in Mysore! 🌿✨

visited Mysuru Zoo and really enjoyed the experience. I got to see the tiger, hippo, leopard, cheetah and giraffe, which was the highlight of my visit. All the animals looked healthy and active. The zoo is clean, well maintained and has lots of trees, so walking around felt relaxing. There are benches and water points along the way, which was helpful. The information boards near the animals were also easy to understand. It's a great place to visit with family and kids. An absolute wow! Probably the best zoo in the whole country. All the animals are given plenty of space to wander around. So many species of animals, birds... And they even got some rare species, like white peacock, bengal tiger, black swan, etc. The zoo is veryyyy big, so u can easily spend ur whole afternoon here. They have clean restrooms, places for seating everywhere, and that too in a reasonable ticketprice... They also apply stickers on the plastic items u carry inside, in order to ensure no spoiling. Overall, loved it ✨

Mysore zoo has always been great. It is one of the best zoo in the country. It is quite large with a lot of collection of different animals. Although zoo is not the right way to see animals where they are kept in captivity, Mysore zoo has kept the animals enclosures as close to their natural habitat environment as possible. The design of the animal enclosures are quite good and no compromise on the space. The animals also appear well fed and healthy. The zoo is almost always crowded. The zoo is quite large and the entire walk around the zoo is more than 2.6 km. But battery operated carts are available for the elderly and those in need. Plastic is not permitted inside the zoo. They collect ₹10 in case you are taking any plastic inside the zoo. This is refunded if you show the same when you come out of the zoo. There are lots of trash cans inside. Adequate toilets are also available inside. The full trip to the zoo could take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours depending on how fast one can walk. There is a lake with boating facility adjacent to the zoo. If one wishes, a combined ticket to the zoo and lake can be purchased.
ADISHANKAR — Google review
One of the well maintained and the biggest zoo in South India. All the animals and birds looks active, if you visit in the morning soon after the opening time. You can see lots of big trees and resting seats all over the zoo. Trees are properly maintained. Animals are fed on time. We happened to see some doctors checking up with the animal caretakers. The entire zoo holds around 3km of area, so you will be burning up your calories for sure. A must visit place in mysore, if you have kids. Also, you can book your tickets through scanning the QR code shown before the ticket counter. So, the payment can be done through UPI without any hassles. You need not stand in the que for tickets. This is very much appreciative.

Mysore Zoo is beautifully maintained and easily one of the best zoos in India. The variety of animals is impressive lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and many rare birds. The enclosures are spacious, and the greenery inside makes walking around very pleasant. You can choose how you want to explore: take the battery operated bogey ride if you want to cover the zoo quickly, or walk if you’d like to really see and experience everything at your own pace. Walking gives you the full feel of the place, but the ride is a good option if you’re short on time or with small kids. Weekdays or mornings are the best time to avoid heavy crowds. Overall, a must visit in Mysore for families, kids, or anyone who enjoys nature and wildlife.

Mysore Palace, a stunning Indo-Saracenic architectural marvel completed in 1912, boasts a grand durbar hall and hosts weekly illuminations. The palace is famous for the traditional Dasara procession, Jamboo Savari, featuring a decorated elephant carrying the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari during Vijaya Dashami. This centuries-old celebration was initiated by Raja Wodeyar in 1610 and has continued uninterrupted.
When I first visited Mysore Palace, I was completely stunned - it's hard to describe the grandeur in words. The moment you step in, the combination of paintings, intricate architecture, and royal interiors immediately grabs your attention. Each area of the palace has its own historical story, which makes exploring it feel like a journey through time. The palace is very well maintained and clean, and the staff do a great job keeping the place organized despite the heavy tourist crowds. The night-time illumination is magical - the entire palace lights up beautifully and gives a completely different, majestic vibe. Inside the palace grounds, there are temples which add a spiritual touch to the visit. Walking through the halls, you'll see royal artifacts, old photographs, and throne rooms, all of which are fascinating for history lovers and casual visitors alike. Even though it's one of the most popular tourist spots in Mysore, the experience is still serene in many areas, especially if you go early in the morning or during the evening illumination. The combination of history, art, architecture, and lighting makes it a must-visit spot. Overall, the visit was absolutely wonderful visually stunning, culturally rich, and highly memorable. I would definitely recommend Mysore Palace to anyone visiting Mysore

Mysore Palace is truly a sight to behold! The grandeur, artwork, and royal architecture still make it one of the most stunning palaces in India. The interiors are beautifully preserved and showcase the rich heritage of the Wadiyar dynasty — every hall and corridor has a story to tell. However, the exterior does seem to be losing a bit of its charm over the years and could use better maintenance, as some areas appear slightly faded. But once you step inside, the craftsmanship and vibrant detailing easily make up for it. Overall, it’s a must-visit landmark in Mysore — majestic, historic, and perfect for photography and architecture lovers.

Walking into Mysuru Palace feels like stepping back into a time when kings ruled with grace, power, and love for art. 👑✨ This isn’t just a palace — it’s a living symbol of Karnataka’s royal heritage, standing tall in the heart of Mysuru since the early 20th century. The present palace, also known as Amba Vilas Palace, was commissioned by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV after the old wooden palace was destroyed by fire in 1897. It was designed by the British architect Henry Irwin and completed in 1912, blending Indo-Saracenic architecture with stunning influences from Hindu, Rajput, Muslim, and Gothic styles. Every inch of this royal masterpiece is breathtaking — from the massive silver doors, carved teak ceilings, and vibrant stained glass, to the majestic Durbar Hall where the kings once held court. The chandeliers sparkle like captured stars, and the intricate paintings on the walls depict tales from the Mahabharata and Ramayana. The palace truly comes alive at night — when more than 97,000 bulbs light it up, transforming it into a glowing golden dream. ✨ During the Dasara festival, the palace becomes the heart of celebration, filled with music, processions, and a royal atmosphere that words can barely describe. 🎆 Surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens and the lively markets of Mysuru, the palace is more than a monument — it’s the very soul of the city. Pro Tip: Visit during the evening illumination (Sunday or public holidays, 7–8 PM) or in the Dussehra season for an unforgettable royal experience. The Mysuru Palace isn’t just history written in stone — it’s a story that still breathes, reminding you that true grandeur never fades. 🕰️💫

I recently visited the Mysuru Palace, and it was honestly one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The moment I walked in, the architecture completely took my breath away. The intricate carvings, vibrant colors, and the royal vibe everywhere made me feel like I had stepped back in time. The palace interiors are stunning, especially the Darbar Hall with its grand pillars and colorful stained-glass ceilings. Every corner has some detail that makes you stop and admire. The lighting in the evening is another highlight; the entire palace glows like a golden jewel. It’s truly magical and feels straight out of a fairytale. The place is well-maintained, and the crowd management was decent when I went. I also enjoyed learning about the Wodeyar dynasty and the history behind the palace. If you’re someone who loves heritage, culture, or photography, this place is a must-visit. Overall, my trip to Mysuru Palace was an unforgettable experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Mysuru.

Mysore Palace – A Royal Experience From My POV!👑 Visiting Mysore Palace was honestly one of the best experiences of my trip. From the moment I entered the palace grounds, I felt like I was stepping into history. The architecture is unbelievably beautiful grand arches, colorful ceilings, detailed carvings every corner felt like a photo spot. The Durbar Hall especially impressed me with its vibrant pillars and royal vibe. My POV: I personally loved how well-maintained and clean the entire place was. Walking through the halls felt like reliving the life of the Wodeyar kings. The staff was helpful, and the audio guide made the visit more meaningful. The palace looks even more magical in the evening when it lights up i felt like I was looking at a fairy-tale palace. It’s truly a moment you won’t forget. Entry Fee: Indian Adults: approx ₹100 Foreigners: approx ₹300 Children below 10 yrs: Free Timings: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM Illumination Show: Sundays & public holidays around 7:00 PM – 7:45 PM What I Noticed: *Crowd was manageable, but morning visit is the best *You have to leave footwear outside (safe, organized area) *Photography is restricted inside only outside photos allowed *Parking is easy to find Overall, from my personal experience, Mysore Palace is 100% worth visiting. The combination of history, architecture, and the evening light show makes it unforgettable

Absolutely stunning palace, it's majestic looks is a pleasure to watch from a distance and at when it's lit up in the evening, it takes you into fairy land kind of feeling. Inside also is very royal in its looks, a room is dedicated to Raja Ravi Verma's paintings, other rooms and people's court and VIP court are just magnificent.

Mysore Palace is truly majestic, but be prepared for heavy crowds on weekends. It’s better to visit on a weekday for a smoother experience. Footwear is not allowed inside, but you can deposit your sandals at the counter free of cost. There is car parking available at ₹50, which is convenient if you’re driving. The entry fee for the palace is ₹120, and you are allowed to take your camera inside without any extra charges. Once inside, you can enjoy the beautiful architecture, vibrant interiors, and royal design. However, if you’re expecting a full heritage display, it might feel limited — many rooms are closed, and there aren’t many antique items on show. Facilities such as toilets and small shops are available inside the premises. If you’re visiting on a Sunday or public holiday, don’t miss the palace illumination between 7–8 PM. The entire palace lights up beautifully and is truly worth watching. Overall, Mysore Palace is a must-visit for its grandeur and architecture, but plan your timing wisely to avoid long queues and crowds.
Swathy N — Google review
The palace looks good from a distance but nothing much special inside. I strictly recommend visiting in the early hours so that you can spend ur time nicely as you like it, if you reach late they will still give you the tickets but chase you away before 5.30 to 5.45 pm However the light show is good in the end 10 mins with the full lights on the palace, it's for 1 hour first 40 mins you listen to the story and again they will chase you out to start the next 1 hour show.

Kuruvadweep

Island
Nature & Parks
Kuruvadweep, located in Wayanad, Kerala, is a river island and nature preserve that offers seasonal access for walks, hikes, and bamboo rafting excursions. It's known for its eco-friendly bamboo rafting experience and diverse tourist attractions such as the Edakkal Caves, Banasura Dam, Soochipara Waterfalls, and Pookode Lake.
It's a small Island covered by Kabini water all around. Need to take bamboo boat to enter island which is for 200mtr of water to be crossed, and 25ft deep with crocodiles.... Sharp 9.30am ticket counter opens , issues only 244 persons strictly per gate in a day( has two gates). Entry ticket payment is only through UPI or ATM card , no cash taken. Boating is payed by cash only Adult 220/- charged, kids till 12yr free entry (included entry fee and bamboo boat, to cross water.) I purchased seperate ticket for bamboo rafting ,which Is waste , dead slow sailing waste of time and money. Once we reach island need to walk in for 2km in forest , finally reach river stream. Kindly take seperate swim cloths , have a dip , relax in water, photos & play around . This is April month , water is less, hot summer I wish to take dip. Instead of bamboo rafting , kayaking is better according to my view.. Overall awesome experience & enjoyed..must visit and experience this place ... Parking fee is 30/- for car as of now. Reach by 9.30am due to limited entry( usually by 11am all ticket quota will finish). Carry water cloth if u wish to dip. No eatables allowed inside island , they will take out, plastic free zone....

Visitors need to know: it is essential to purchase tickets at least 12 hours in advance, as they are limited and sell out quickly. The current ticket price is ₹220 per person. Regarding the experience itself, I personally found it not worth the price or the hassle. It is extremely crowded, and the main attraction is simply an island area with a flow of water, not a waterfall or anything significantly unique. It felt like a waste of money for what is offered. In short, manage your expectations, book tickets far ahead, but be aware that the experience is basic for the cost. Good meals option is there. That's worth

Had real good time here. Very peaceful and crowd won't be that much and recommend to visit when it's raining. So that crowd will be less and you'll have a great time.

It is a tourist place with its own natural beauty with forest, wild animals like monkey, elephant ,water resources. There is view point cost 220 rupees per person Seperate restroom for male and female with dressing area with mirror which is well maintained and clean As per the forest officers information 500 person is only allowed to visit the area daily

We could not enter the island because of entry restrictions. The rafting on the river was a good experience. It was Rs 100 per person for a 20 min ride in the river by bamboo rafts. One can enjoy this ride as well even if you can not enter the island. There are few tea shops and souveneir shops.

Excellent tourist destination in Wayanad. It is a beautiful group of islands joined by the Kuruva river. We are taken on a raft to the main islands. If you walk for about 500 meters you will reach the part of the river where you can have a pleasant bath. The river is cool and shallow. You can spend any amount of time there. It is safe even for small children. However, it is not at all safe to take bath in other parts of the river. The guards warn tourists but some make a clandestine attempt to jump into the river. When we went there for the second time, a guard showed me why we should not take bath in the prohibited areas!

Bad experience at Kuruva Dweep, lost money during visit. Management should improve safety and proper arrangements for visitors.
MOHAMMED M — Google review
Good place for walking in the forest and taking bath in river. The boat just crosses from the mainland to Kuruva Island which is would take hardly 5mins. The people around there are friendly and no plastics are allowed inside island. It's a flat land as there is no elevation observed so anyone irrespective of age can go and explore. Only little part of the island is accessible.

Brindavana Gardens

Garden
Nature & Parks
Terraced gardens featuring colourful ornamentals, plus fountain shows & views of the adjacent dam.
Brindavan Garden is one of the most beautiful attractions in Mysuru. The lush greenery, sparkling fountains, and calm lake view make it a peaceful retreat. In the evening, the musical fountain show with colorful lights creates a truly magical atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to visit with family or friends, and every corner is picture-perfect. The serene vibe here makes you want to visit again and again. ✨🌷
BIKASH — Google review
Brindavan Garden in Mysore is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Karnataka and is well known for its beautiful layout, musical fountain, and scenic beauty. The garden is located near the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam, and the view of the dam from the garden is truly delightful, especially during sunset when the sky reflects on the water, creating a stunning scene. The garden itself is beautifully designed with symmetrical lawns, colorful flower beds, and fountains spread across the area. The musical fountain show in the evening is the main highlight and draws a large crowd. The lights, music, and water display create a magical atmosphere that everyone enjoys, especially families and children. However, the cleanliness and maintenance of the garden are not up to the mark. Some areas are littered with plastic bottles and food wrappers, and the pathways need better care. The benches and lights in certain sections also look old and could use renovation. The authorities should focus more on maintaining hygiene, cleanliness, and overall management to preserve the beauty of this historic place. Crowd management is another area that needs improvement, as the garden becomes very crowded during weekends and holidays, making it difficult to enjoy peacefully. Despite these issues, the garden still remains a pleasant place to visit for its ambiance and scenic beauty. Overall, Brindavan Garden is a lovely tourist spot with great potential, but it definitely needs better maintenance and cleanliness to give visitors a more enjoyable experience. With a little more care from the management, it can once again become one of the most beautiful and well-kept gardens in India.

A Magical Evening at Brindavan Gardens! (5/5 Stars) Brindavan Gardens is an absolute must-visit when you are in Mysore. It truly deserves every one of its five stars! The sheer scale and meticulous symmetry of the terraced gardens are breathtaking. Walking through the pathways, lined with vibrant flowers and perfectly manicured hedges, felt incredibly calming and refreshing. The way the gardens are laid out, leading down to the reservoir, creates stunning panoramic views, especially at sunset. However, the real spectacle begins after dark: the Musical Fountain Show. The way the water dances in rhythm with the music and colored lights is pure magic—a genuinely captivating experience that draws the crowds. It is well-organized and a perfect culmination to the visit. It's clear that the entire complex is beautifully maintained, making the entire visit a clean and enjoyable experience. Tip: Get there an hour before the fountain show starts to secure a good viewing spot and enjoy the peaceful sunset views over the Cauvery River. It's a perfect spot for families, couples, or anyone seeking natural beauty and delightful entertainment. Highly, highly recommended!

Where Lights, Water, and Music Dance Together – Brindavan Gardens, Mysuru Just below the mighty Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam, lies one of India’s most enchanting spots — the Brindavan Gardens. 🌿✨ It’s not just a garden; it’s an experience that blends nature, architecture, and art into a living melody. Built in the 1930s under the vision of Sir Mirza Ismail, the then Dewan of Mysore, these gardens were inspired by the Mughal-style terrace designs — symmetric lawns, colorful flowerbeds, water channels, and dancing fountains that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a royal dream. 👑🌺 Walking through Brindavan Gardens is pure magic — the gentle mist from the fountains, the reflection of the KRS Dam on the water, and the sound of laughter echoing through the soft evening air. As the sun sets, the entire place transforms — thousands of lights flicker on, and the musical fountain show begins, where water dances to the rhythm of music and colorful lights fill the night. 🎶💧 Couples, families, and travelers from all over India come here to witness that one unforgettable scene — water and light performing in harmony against the backdrop of the dam. The atmosphere feels festive yet peaceful, romantic yet serene. Pro Tip: Visit just before sunset to enjoy both the daylight beauty and the illuminated night view. Don’t miss the musical fountain show (6:30 PM – 7:30 PM) and the short boat ride — they’re worth every moment. Brindavan Gardens isn’t just about flowers and fountains — it’s about how art, water, and light can come together to create emotion. A timeless place where nature smiles, and Mysuru’s royal charm still blooms. 💫

Brindavana Gardens ಬೃಂದಾವನ ಉದ್ಯಾನವನ What a beautiful place with lushy greenary, beautiful flowers, well maintained pathways, water fountains. If you ever visit mysore you must visit Brindavana Gardens, and make your day happy. Ticket price is one hundred rupees only per person, and transportation for this is kind of moderately expensive, there are buses but they only reach to Brindavana gardens circle only, from that we have to take auto. Drinking Water and washrooms are kept for visitors convenience.

It is a very pretty garden. There are fountains, front and centre. It has a lot of beautiful arches covered with vines. A wide variety of flora and fauna can be seen over here. It is extremely colourful through and through. It is an aesthetic garden, a perfect place to click pictures.

Brindavan Garden is a lovely place to spend your evening, especially if you enjoy wide, open spaces. It can get crowded on weekends, but because the garden is quite spacious, it still feels comfortable to walk around and enjoy the views. There is an entry fee, and once inside, you can explore the beautifully maintained pathways and fountains. The main highlight is the musical fountain and light show, held between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM. The colorful lights and music make it a must-watch and the garden looks even more magical after sunset.

Brindavan garden is huge big and people need to get ticket for one person 100₹,evening and early morning is best time for less crowd on weekdays and carry water.Need to walk for 1-2 hours to cover all the garden. Toilets are not maintained and smells.Need to pay for using toilet. Light show is after 6pm. During afternoon it will be sunny and difficult to walk.Cleanliness is less, many plastic waste around.no proper security for maintaining and checking these things. Beautiful place and good for photography but management has to take care properly.

Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife and safari park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, Tholpetty, is a part of the Banasurasagar Project and offers a picturesque sight with the Banasura hills in the background. The sanctuary features various forest types including tropical moist dry deciduous and semi-evergreen forests, along with teak, eucalyptus, silver oak, and rosewood plantations covering about one third of the area.
A less visited wildlife sanctuary and safari compared to the nearby Nagarhole and Kabini safaris. The chances of sightings of big cats are less here owing to the dense foliage and relatively high rainfall and resulting greenery. As on April 2025, there are 15 jeeps in the morning and 15 jeeps in the evening on a first come first serve basis. No online booking option is there. Jeep safari is for about an hour and a half, costs 2100 for a jeep with 4 people (I am not sure if it's 3 or 4) with 350 Rs for every additional person. Duration is for about 1.5 hours. There is only one fixed route for both morning and evening safaris. I went in April and had sightings of elephants, gaurs, spotted deers and numerous birds. As per the jeep drivers, chances of big cat sightings are more during their mating season (Nov to Mar) here, unlike in other places (like Kabini in summer).

A good ride through the forest. But couldn't find a great verity of animals. It depends. You really get a great time with the nature and fresh air. Could spot the footprints of tiger. There is a change in the timings. The safari starts from 6 am to 10 am in the morning and 3 pm to 6 pm in the evening. 60 trips per day. 30 in the morning and 30 trips afternoon. So if you are planning to go on weekends and holidays be sure you reach at the earliest. And. The best time to go for is from November to jan. The climate also too good. Maximum number of people that can travel in a jeep is 7. It starts from 3-4. Costs 2100rs. One guide will accompany you to describe things and helps you to spot the animals.
Jain J — Google review
Better to buy tickets online a day before through keralaecotourism website. There are two slots, one morning 6 and evening at 3. Animal sighting is purely based on your luck but signs of animals can be found there, even tiger marks.
Athif A — Google review
The safari last 1.5 hours, costs rs2250 per jeep, so its affordable. its one single road to enter and exit from the other side, its not like Kabini or Nagarhole which branches out like a combing search safari. Its hard to spot animals coz of the thick forest. We spotted Elephants, Sambar deer, tortoises, giant squirrel
Bhaskar R — Google review
We participated in a Sunday evening safari during rainy season at Tholpetty Wildlife sanctuary. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but compared less favorably to the similar offering 20 km away at Nagarhole in Karnataka (see below for details), which we did the next day. For one jeep with 5 people (including a 5 year old child), we paid Rs. 5500, compared to Nagarhole, where the per-person charge was Rs. 1000/adult, 500/child. Pros: No wait. Was able to pay by foreign credit card without a problem. Note to foreign travelers: one passport is required for identification purposes). The tour lasted about two hours. We saw one elephant—a tusker!) deep in the woods and one peacock, but that’s it. Since this was rainy season, wildlife sightings are much rarer. Cons: The safari vehicle used was cramped and very inconducive both to comfort and wildlife viewing as the seats faced inward with very little head clearance and very little window surface area. See photo for comparison to the Nagarhole (Karnataka) safari vehicle. In terms of price, I might be wrong about this, but I believe that one has to rent the entire jeep at a cost of Rs. 5000, which may not be economical for smaller groups. Overall, if you are visiting the Tholpetty area and cannot make the short drive to the Karnataka side of the forest, then this excursion is recommended. I would strongly suggest trying to do so in the dry season to maximize chances of wildlife sightings. If only possible to visit during the rainy season, I would favor the Nagarhole side both for price (pay per head as opposed to per vehicle), vehicle design/comfort and wildlife viewing opportunities.

We haven't seen anything except deer inside the forest. Despite travelling 1.5 hrs through the forest with 4500 INR loss, nothing could be seen. And road was completely offroad (I mean not good for old members)

Good forest range. It's a buffer forest. Recommended to go in summer if you want to spot wildlife. If you just want to see the vegetation then monsoon or winter.
Bharath C — Google review
Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the northern part of Wayanad, is one of Kerala’s most captivating wildlife destinations. The sanctuary offers an authentic forest experience, where visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of untouched nature. The jeep safari, usually conducted early in the morning or late in the afternoon, is the best way to explore the park. As you move through the dense forests and open grasslands, there’s a high chance of spotting deer, elephants, gaurs, peacocks, and a wide variety of birds. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a leopard or the majestic Bengal tiger. The forest is peaceful, with a calmness that makes the experience refreshing and memorable. The guides are knowledgeable and ensure safety while sharing insightful details about the flora and fauna. The sanctuary is well maintained, and the natural landscape—misty air, towering trees, and serene lakes—adds to the charm. Tholpetty is ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to disconnect from city life. While sightings aren’t always guaranteed, the overall atmosphere makes the visit worthwhile. It’s a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility, offering a true taste of Kerala’s rich wildlife heritage.

Jungle Lodges and Resorts - Dubare is a picturesque retreat nestled amidst lush greenery near the Dubare Elephant Camp. The tranquil atmosphere makes it an ideal escape for nature lovers. Guests can enjoy close encounters with majestic elephants through activities like bathing, feeding, and even riding experiences. For adventure seekers, there's the option of river rafting on the Kaveri River. Families will find it to be a great place to bond while exploring the elephant camp and partaking in forest safaris.
Overall, our experience was wonderful. We wanted to get a cake to celebrate a family member's birthday, and when we spoke to the manager about our request, he took it upon himself to ensure that the cake was ready at the perfect time. Thanks to him and the rest of the staff, we were able to cut the cake right at midnight. Their level of service truly impressed us. They handled every request we had with enthusiasm and a genuine smile. A huge thank you to everyone at Jungle Lodges Dubare for making our stay so comfortable. I do have one suggestion: it would be helpful to inform guests that they need to cross the river to reach the lodge, and that a boat is available for this purpose. We weren't aware of this initially, which left us a bit confused at first. However, the staff on the other side were incredibly helpful and guided us well.

We had a wonderful experience at Dubare Jungle Lodges! The place is truly beautiful, surrounded by nature, and perfect for a family or friends outing. The food served was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. One of the highlights was bathing and feeding the elephants – such a unique and memorable experience! The staff deserve a special mention – they are extremely sweet, caring, and make you feel very comfortable. On the night of our stay, we were the only family there, and though we felt a bit scared at first, the staff were so friendly and reassuring that we soon felt completely at ease. Officer Ram was very helpful throughout our stay, and Nagaraj, who guided us on the safari and nature walk, was polite, patient and courteous Overall, we had the best day at Dubare Jungle Lodges and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in nature

Stayed at JLR Dubare on 12th October 2025 Open but safe parking. Rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Food options are limited but sufficient. The safari is good for beginners — great to enjoy the forest landscape and trees, but not ideal if your expectation is to spot tigers or elephants. The Dubare Elephant Camp is the real highlight — a wonderful experience to interact with elephants up close: bathing, feeding, and learning about them. Special thanks to Mr. Girish, an excellent naturalist, who ensures you have a meaningful and memorable time with the elephants. A must-visit for elephant lovers!

It’s rare to find such simple yet delicious food, and we genuinely looked forward to every meal. If you want an entire private jungle experience, head to JLR - Dubare. The resort is completely cut off from the rest of the crowd. To start with, you can park you vehicle on the banks of the Cauvery, and take a private boat to the resort. There you will be greeted by the helpful staff who will brief you about you stay. The itinerary includes 3 meals , tea/coffee, snacks apart from the nature walks and jungle safari. If you are luck you will spot some creatures during the safari. The staff is courteous and polite. During the rains, beware of leeches abd make sure to wear closed footwear. The resort's room are made with bamboo furniture and there is damp smell to it. If you dislike this, visit in the summers, but Cauvery might run dry then. The main attraction is the fully private elephant interaction experience. You can bathe and feed these gentle giants and click a million pictures with them. A must do, if you have kids.

Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple, is one of the most peaceful and visually impressive places you can visit near Coorg. Even though it is located in Bylakuppe, it is often included in Coorg travel plans, and it truly deserves a spot on the itinerary. The monastery is beautifully designed with traditional Tibetan architecture, colourful artwork, prayer wheels, and tall golden statues that give the place a grand and spiritual feel.Photography is allowed in most areas, making it a wonderful spot for travellers who love artistic and cultural photos. There are also small shops nearby selling Tibetan souvenirs, handmade items, and food. Whether you are interested in culture, spirituality, architecture or simply want a quiet break from sightseeing in Coorg.

Chelavara Water Falls in Karnataka is a hidden treasure that captivates tourists with its unspoiled charm and peaceful environment. The route to the falls offers stunning views, meandering through verdant forests and picturesque scenery. Upon reaching the destination, the sight of the flowing water is truly awe-inspiring, providing an ideal setting for photography and unwinding. The area is well-kept, allowing for easy exploration and a leisurely picnic.
Not easy to reach near the falls. Had to walk around 400 mts and not advisable for physically challenged people.

Very bad .. no proper way or family friendly way to get to the waterfall.. if you cannot do trekking for more than 3 kms , then it is of no use.. better not visit this place .. very dangerous for family members

Chelvara Waterfall is absolutely stunning! 🌊✨ The view is amazing, surrounded by lush greenery that makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers. The sound of the water and the peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Coorg. Must-visit if you’re in the area! 🌿

This waterfall can be considered more of an optional stop during your Coorg trip, as you can’t actually reach the bottom for a close-up view. The location is a bit far and there aren’t many other attractions nearby, but if you have extra time, it’s still worth a visit. You’ll need to climb a little to reach the side viewpoint, but the scenery from there makes the effort worthwhile and offers a refreshing experience amidst nature.
Kumar K — Google review
The drive to the falls is quite good, through the hills and coffee plantation. The falls is visible from the road itself. There's a short hike (200m) from the road, through a small part. Beware of leeches though. The road goes towards a peak and viewpoint from here. That was totally worth it btw.

Chelavara waterfalls is a nice waterfall in Coorg near Kabbe Betta. There is a small parking space (for 2-3 cars) here. Waterfall can be accessed by a small 5 minute hike. Bicolored frogs can be spotted here. Area can be bit dirty especially during rainy season, recommend good shoes while visiting the falls. Not recommended to enter the waterfalls even though it doesn't look dangerous, it seems many have lost lives here.
Sajeev T — Google review
There is a small hike to reach the view point of the falls. However due to heavy monsoons, there is no entry to the falls, you can view the falls from far. The view is beautiful, with greenery all around

Raja's Seat Garden is a must-visit attraction in Madikeri, Karnataka. It offers stunning views of sunrise and sunset, making it an enchanting spot for nature lovers. The garden was once frequented by the Coorg Rajas and their consorts to admire the beauty of nature. Visitors can also explore the nearby Gandhi Mantap and enjoy a toy train ride around the garden. Raja’s Seat is one of the most popular viewpoints in Coorg, and after visiting it for sunset, I completely understand why. The name literally means “Seat of the King,” and it’s said that the kings of Kodagu once came here to watch the sunrise and sunset. Today, it’s still one of the best spots to take in the breathtaking landscape of Coorg’s rolling hills and misty valleys. I went during the evening hours, just in time for sunset, and the view was absolutely mesmerizing. As the sun slowly dipped behind the Western Ghats, the sky turned shades of orange, pink, and purple, casting a magical glow over the entire valley. It was a peaceful yet lively moment — peaceful because of the beauty around, and lively because of the energy of the crowd, everyone trying to capture that perfect shot. There’s a small entry fee of ₹20, and the place is well-maintained with gardens, benches, and a small musical fountain area. The viewpoint can get very crowded during sunset, so it’s best to arrive at least 30–40 minutes early if you want a good spot to sit and enjoy. Parking is available nearby, and there are several stalls outside selling snacks, tea, and coffee — perfect for enjoying the view with something warm in hand. Overall, Raja’s Seat is a must-visit location in Coorg, especially for photographers and nature lovers. The sunset view here truly feels like the perfect ending to a day in this hill town — serene, colorful, and unforgettable. Best time to visit: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM (for sunset) Entry fee: ₹20 per person
Rishav S — Google review
I absolutely loved this place! It’s a beautiful spot with great views and totally worth the ₹20 entry ride. The atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing a perfect getaway to enjoy nature. There are mini food stalls at the entrance selling corn, ice cream, and other snacks, which adds to the fun. They even have ziplines, making it an exciting place for both kids and adults! The area has plenty of seating, so you can relax and take in the surroundings. I really liked the animal statues and the light and water show in the evenings it’s a wonderful visual treat! Unfortunately, it started raining during my visit, so we couldn’t stay long. I would suggest adding a shade or shelter near the light show area so visitors can still enjoy it during bad weather. There’s also a park for kids, where they can play and have a great time. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for families, couples, and nature lovers looking for a relaxing and fun outing.

Raja’s Seat is one of the most iconic viewpoints in Coorg and an absolute must-visit if you’re in Madikeri. The name literally means “Seat of the King,” and it’s said that the kings of Kodagu once came here to relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets — and it’s easy to see why! Perched atop a small hill, the place offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley and the surrounding hills blanketed in greenery. On a clear day, you can see layers of mist rolling over the coffee plantations and distant mountains — it’s pure magic, especially during early mornings and evenings. The sunset view from here is the highlight — the sky turns golden and pink as the sun dips behind the hills, creating postcard-perfect scenery. The entire area is beautifully landscaped with a garden, colorful flower beds, fountains, and seating spots that make it an ideal place to unwind. There’s also a toy train that adds a fun touch for kids and families. The place is clean and well-maintained, and you’ll find small stalls nearby selling snacks, corn, tea, and souvenirs. There’s a small entry fee, and parking is available just outside the premises. The best time to visit is early morning or around sunset to avoid crowds and enjoy the peaceful ambiance. What makes Raja’s Seat special is its simplicity — a blend of nature, history, and tranquility. Whether you’re looking to click some great photos, take a quiet stroll, or just sit and watch the clouds float by, this spot gives you a true taste of Coorg’s charm.

Raja’s Seat Garden, Madikeri, Coorg: --- Raja’s Seat, perched atop Stuart Hill in Madikeri, Coorg, is a classic destination blending natural beauty, colonial history, and tranquil vistas. Often referred to as the “Seat of the King,” this spot was once the place where the Rajas of Kodagu came to relax, enjoy views of sunrise and sunset, and soak in the cool hill-air. The garden itself is beautifully maintained. Flower beds of seasonal blooms, neatly trimmed hedges, paved walkways, and decorative fountains create an environment that is both picturesque and soothing for a leisurely stroll. A pavilion with four pillars bridged by arches, known as Raja’s Seat proper, serves as the central viewpoint. One of the major draws is the view. Early morning mist clinging to the valleys, the rolling hills, and later the sunset sky ablaze with colour as the sun dips behind the Western Ghats—these moments are what make Raja’s Seat memorable. There are some additional attractions: a toy train ride around the garden (a hit with children) , musical fountain shows in the evening at scheduled times , and viewpoints at different levels allowing for slightly varied vistas. On the flip side, Raja’s Seat tends to get quite crowded, especially around sunset or on weekends. Parking can be a bit inconvenient. Also, if the weather is cloudy or mist thick, the views may be obscured. In terms of value, the entry fee is minimal (around INR 20), making the experience very affordable. Visiting during weekdays, or early morning/just before sunset, gives a more peaceful, immersive experience. --- Verdict: Raja’s Seat is a must-visit in Coorg. For anyone who enjoys nature, photography, or relaxed hill-town vibes, it delivers—magical views, well-kept gardens, and a touch of historical nostalgia. Just plan timing well to avoid the crowds.

Raja’s Seat in Coorg is one of the most iconic and serene attractions in Madikeri, offering visitors a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and relaxation. The place is said to have been a favorite spot of the Kodagu kings, who often spent their evenings here watching the breathtaking sunsets, and it’s easy to see why. The garden is beautifully maintained with well-laid flowerbeds, seasonal blooms, and neatly landscaped pathways that make it ideal for a peaceful stroll. From the seating area and viewing point, you get a panoramic view of the rolling hills, valleys, and lush greenery that Coorg is famous for. The misty mornings and vibrant sunsets are especially magical and attract many visitors with cameras. In the evenings, the musical fountain show adds an extra charm, making it enjoyable for families and kids. There are also small kiosks and stalls nearby offering snacks, tea, and local delicacies, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. Parking is available, though it can get crowded during weekends and holidays. Overall, Raja’s Seat Garden is not just a tourist spot but a place to slow down and connect with nature. Whether you are visiting Coorg for adventure, leisure, or a short getaway, this is definitely a must-visit. A short time here will leave you refreshed and remind you why Coorg is called the “Scotland of India.”

Abbey Falls is one of the star attractions in Coorg, known for its stunning silver cascade that plunges about 70 feet below. The journey to the falls takes you through picturesque coffee plantations, setting the stage for the breathtaking sight that awaits. Visitors can also explore other nearby attractions such as Mallalli Falls and Iruppu Falls. For animal enthusiasts, a visit to Dubare Elephant Camp is a must-do experience where trained elephants can be observed and even bathed by visitors.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Abbey Falls in Kodagu (Coorg) is one of those places that truly makes the long walk worth it! To reach the falls, you drive 🚗 through narrow winding roads surrounded by greenery and coffee plantations. There’s a parking area from where you continue on foot — a short but steep walk down with many stairs 🪜. The descent feels refreshing, with the sound of birds and the distant rush of water 💧. At the bottom, the sight of Abbey Falls is mesmerizing 🤩. The waterfall gushes powerfully, and even though there’s often a crowd, the mist and roar of water give you your own peaceful moment. Standing near the railing, feeling the cool spray, is instantly rejuvenating. The atmosphere is cool and calming 🌿, especially in monsoon season, making this a perfect nature escape. Wear comfortable shoes for the staircase climb — every step is worth that stunning view.

I think, it is most the famous waterfall of Coorg. it is located about 8 km from North of Madikeri town in Coorg, is one of the most enchanting waterfalls in Karnataka. Surrounded by lush coffee and spice plantations, the falls offer a refreshing escape into nature’s serenity. The water cascades down from a height of around 70 feet, creating a mesmerizing misty view, especially during the monsoon. Visitors can reach the falls through a short walk along a scenic trail filled with the aroma of coffee and cardamom. The hanging bridge was closed while I visited the falls. it was offers the best view for photography and sightseeing. Visitor Information: Timings: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Entry Fee: Around ₹20 per person Best Time to Visit: July to October for lush greenery and full water flow Facilities: Small parking area, refreshment stalls near the entrance, and restrooms available Tips: Avoid visiting during heavy rains as the paths can get slippery. Early mornings are less crowded for peaceful exploration. Overall, Abbey Falls is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape amidst Coorg’s misty charm.

Abbey Falls is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Coorg, and after visiting, I can see why! The waterfall is located just a short drive (about 8–10 km) from Madikeri town, surrounded by lush coffee and spice plantations that make the journey as beautiful as the destination itself. Once you reach the parking area, there’s a short walk through a scenic trail lined with tall trees, pepper vines, and cardamom plants. You can hear the sound of gushing water as you get closer — a reminder that nature truly rules this place. The viewpoint offers a spectacular sight of the water cascading down from a height into a rocky gorge below. During the monsoon or right after it, the falls are at their most magnificent — powerful, misty, and surrounded by thick greenery. Though visitors are not allowed to get into the water for safety reasons, the suspension bridge facing the waterfall provides an excellent spot for photos and videos. The area is well maintained, and there are a few small snack stalls and local vendors near the entrance if you want to grab some refreshments. What makes Abbey Falls special is the blend of tranquility and raw power — you can spend time simply taking in the sound of the falls and the crisp, cool air that surrounds it. It’s a great stop if you’re exploring Coorg, especially for nature lovers and photographers. ⭐ Tips: The best time to visit is right after the monsoon (August–October) when the water flow is strong. Wear comfortable shoes, as the path involves a bit of walking and can get slippery. Try to visit early morning or later in the afternoon to avoid crowds.
Priyanka S — Google review
This waterfall spot is a decent place to visit if you’re looking for a short and relaxing outdoor experience. The area offers ample parking space and walking paths, making it convenient for families and casual visitors. The mini waterfall is the main attraction, it’s small but quite scenic, especially for those who enjoy nature and photography. However, the place can get very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. There isn’t a proper viewing or waiting area, so everyone tends to stand in one spot to take photos, which can make it difficult to capture a good picture of the waterfall. The surroundings could also use better maintenance and repair work, as some parts look worn out and could be improved for safety and comfort. There are food stalls and small eateries right outside the location, offering snacks and refreshments, a nice touch after walking around. Overall, it’s a good spot for a quick visit or a short family outing, but don’t expect too much if you’re looking for a quiet or adventurous experience. Tips: Visit early in the morning or on weekdays to avoid crowds and get better photos.

Visited on 16th Nov 2025 Not bad, combine this place with other sightseeings. You need to walk down easy stairs for a km or less to view this Waterfall, and climbback. Its easy but could be tricky for elders. Once you reach the platform, the waterfall is beautiful. It is crowded so you need to struggle a bit to see it properly, but there will be no peace with 100s of people around 😉 There are photographers who would charge to click pictures. Don't go for Francis photographer, our deal was to click 5 photos and we needed soft copies only. He said he would share later as there was no network. However, he took money and did not share any photos to us later. I am still following up with him, no response. 10 Rupees entry fee for adults, and free parking space 😊

Abbey Falls is one of those spots in Coorg that truly captures the essence of nature’s raw beauty. The waterfall is surrounded by dense coffee and spice plantations, and the walk down to the viewpoint is short but scenic. You can hear the roar of the water long before you see it, and when you finally do — it’s a breathtaking sight, especially during or just after the monsoon season. That said, the area around the falls is fenced off for safety, so you can’t get too close to the water. It’s more of a viewpoint experience than an immersive one. The place can get a bit crowded during weekends and holidays, so early morning visits are the best for a peaceful vibe. There’s a small parking area and some local stalls for snacks and coffee. Overall, Abbey Falls is worth a quick stop — not an all-day destination, but definitely a refreshing and photogenic spot to include in your Coorg itinerary.

The location feels like a magical, hidden gem, easily accessible yet completely peaceful. The short walk through the surrounding greenery is refreshing and the air is clean and cool. When you reach the falls, the view is simply breathtaking—the water cascades down with impressive force into a beautiful, clear pool. It's a perfect spot for photography, nature observation, or simply relaxing by the water and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere. It’s well-maintained, clean, and provides a truly immersive escape from daily life. Highly recommend planning a visit to recharge and enjoy the stunning natural beauty!

It's good waterfall only to watch. We cannot take bath as its restricted. Situated in the green coffee estate center area and other side forest. The scenic beauty is good to watch in Sep to December months. Later the flow will be reducing. Can take the ticket there itself after parking vehicle nearby. 750m walk to falls from main road. It may be difficult for the people with knee pains and elders as some area steps climbing is required.

Such an awesome , ancient temple to Sri Subramanya . The architectural speciality is its Gajaprishtakara vimana ( shaped like elephant back) and the very lovely wooden bracket sculptures . In the evening , when they light the oil lamps , it is a truly divine atmosphere . The temple pond is a picturesque place , with a very ancient tree nearby . Devotees can feed puffed rice to the fish in the pond .

Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple Karnataka

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled amidst picturesque mountains, Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple is a renowned Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to the lord of serpents. The temple's architecture reflects Kerala style and is well-maintained, exuding a divine atmosphere. However, some visitors have reported encountering impolite behavior from temple workers. During peak times like Ayilya (Ashlesha) star, the temple experiences heavy footfall.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya, worshipped here in connection with serpents (Naga devatas). The darshan was smooth and well-organized. Despite the number of visitors, the queue moved steadily, and the priests conducted the rituals sincerely. I was able to feel a strong spiritual presence inside the sanctum. I also appreciated the temple's cleanliness and orderliness, especially considering how many people visit daily. The architecture is traditional and adds to the sacred feel. The weather during my visit was rainy,. I recommend carrying an umbrella or raincoat if you're visiting during the monsoon season, as showers are quite common. My visit to Kukke Subramanya Temple was memorable and spiritually uplifting. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking divine blessings, especially those with a connection to serpent-related doshas or those simply looking for peace amidst nature and devotion. Note: If your planning on serpent dosha puja you have to book the puja in their website before visit it is a two daya puja

It was nice visit to this spiritual place. Went along with my friends. This place has very different vibe all together. Mighty Kumar Parvat is being visible. Went on Saturday evening had our prasad which took around 1 hour including wait & taking of prasad. Faced issues while getting guest house of Temple trust (book in advance) availability on weekends or festive season will be a issue. Took hotel outside. Darshan: went at temple at around 0600hrs and waited in a que till 0700hrs. Darshan started at 0700hrs & by 0740hrs we were out. Cons: Temple committe should work ok Maintaining the cleanliness of prasad house Overall experience was nice.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Kukke Subramanya Temple, one of the most divine and scenic temples located in the lap of the Western Ghats. The temple is beautifully built in traditional South Indian architectural style, with intricate wooden carvings and a peaceful ambiance. The main deity here is Lord Subramanya (Kartikeya), worshipped as the protector from serpent doshas. You can also have darshan of Vasuki, the serpent god, and other shrines like Adi Subramanya, Ganapati, and Uma Maheshwara within the temple premises. - The darshan queue is well-managed, on weekdays it takes about 30–60 minutes, while on weekends and special days it may take longer. - There are options for free darshan as well as special darshan tickets (₹50–₹200) for quicker Darsan. - The Anna Prasada (free meal) served by the temple is simple, delicious, and very well organized. - Timings: Generally, darshan is available from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM. - Ample parking space is available near the temple at a reasonable charge. - Numerous shops selling pooja items, prasadam, and local snacks are available right outside. - Several lodges and restaurants nearby offer decent accommodation and food options. Overall, Kukke Subramanya Temple is a spiritually uplifting and peaceful destination worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

I’m from Hubballi, and while looking back at some old memories from 2022, I just couldn’t resist sharing my experience of visiting the beautiful Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple. While scrolling through my gallery today (3 November 2025), I came across some old photos from my trip to Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple, and it instantly brought back a wave of peaceful memories. Seeing those pictures made me feel like reliving that beautiful journey again, and I thought it’s the right time to share my experience here. I and my family had visited this temple around 12 June 2022, and it was truly one of our most memorable trips. The journey was filled with lush greenery, winding roads, and misty hills that created a calm and refreshing atmosphere even before reaching the temple. The temple’s traditional architecture looked divine, and though it was quite crowded that day, the spiritual energy and positive vibe were truly unmatched. The sound of bells, chants, and the fragrance of incense made the whole experience unforgettable. After our darshan, we also explored some nearby scenic and historical places, which made the trip even more special. The natural beauty, flowing streams, and peaceful surroundings added a perfect balance of spirituality and serenity to our visit. The temple and its surroundings were clean and well maintained, and the entire area felt calm and family-friendly. Looking back now, I’m really glad I captured those moments, sometimes old photos remind us how meaningful those journeys were and how they still make us smile years later. Truly a place worth visiting with family for the blessings, the peace, and the timeless charm it holds. Thinking if I could visit here again someday… #kukkeshrisubrahmanyatemple #karnatakaheritage #nammakarnataka 💛❤️

We felt energised after visit to Kukke Subramanya temple. The kumaradhara river with rituals of placing flat stones in a pile in the river and on river bank. There are temples of Anjaneya, Ganapati and Vana Durga on the road to Subramanya temple. The road from Mangalore to Kukke has improved and further works are in progress.

Bekal Fort

Mentioned on
1 list
Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Bekal Fort is an impressive and expansive stronghold that offers picturesque views of the sea. The fort boasts well-preserved walls, gates, and tunnels, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts. Efforts have been made to maintain the property in good condition. It is recommended to visit early during summer to avoid sun exposure and allocate at least 2-3 hours to explore the entire complex.
Bekal Fort in Kerala looks like an incredible place steeped in history and surrounded by natural beauty. From what I’ve read and seen in pictures, it’s one of the largest and best-preserved forts in Kerala, with impressive laterite stone walls and unique keyhole-shaped bastions. Its location right on the Arabian Sea offers breathtaking views of the coastline, making it perfect for photography and scenic walks. I’ve also read that the fort’s design and strategic position tell the story of its importance in the 17th century as a defensive stronghold. The surrounding greenery and the rocky beach create a peaceful and picturesque environment, which seems ideal for anyone who loves history, architecture, or just wants to enjoy a serene coastal spot.

Bekal Fort is a must-visit gem in Kasargod! The old colonial-style fort is beautifully constructed, and walking through its massive walls gives a glimpse of history and architecture that has stood strong for centuries. The fort itself is well maintained and offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. Right next to it is Bekal Beach, which is clean, lively, and very happening. There are plenty of small stores and eateries around, making it a perfect spot to relax after exploring the fort. The sunset view from both the fort and the beach is simply spectacular. A perfect blend of history and natural beauty — highly recommended for anyone visiting North Kerala!

Bekal Fort is one of Kerala’s most impressive and beautifully maintained historical landmarks by ASI. 👍 Got famous after a Movie song in film (Bombay) 🎥 The entry / parking can be better managed, had to wait on the road for 20-25 minutes inching from main road to parking lot. Parking charge is Rs.40 Entry Tickets to be bought at the counter opposite to the main entry to port (Rs.25) Spread over 40 acres, it’s the largest fort in Kerala, built in the 17th century by Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty. Later, it came under the control of Tipu Sultan and the British — each era leaving its mark on the fort’s architecture and story. Prepare for long walks and inclined climbs in watch towers. Scenic views of the sea and nearby beaches and town views, worth it. There are stone benches to sit / relax. Could see drinking water taps at few places. There are couple of small shops selling ice cream, juices and water, packed chips, etc. Best part is on the west side sea viewing point (going down stairs) and watching sunset. There are places to sit and also go up to the final watch tower where the waves hit against. Around 5:45-6 the guards keep whistling to get the people out 😀 There are small sandy beach areas besides the port but access is restricted, though could see few people. Sea is rough so not recommended to venture. Overall a great place to spend few hours and take pictures 👍

Incredible fort. The entry fee is Rs. 25. This fort offers breathtaking scenic views. We arrived early in the morning, and the central area was peaceful. Upon reaching the viewpoint overlooking the beach, the sight was stunning, and the gentle sea breeze was calm and soothing. Overall, it is a lovely place to relax and enjoy.

Amazing fort with a rich history. Very well maintained. The highlight of the fort being the sea facing outpost, which gives a spectacular views of the Arabian Sea especially during sunset. Do visit in the evenings after 4 pm, since the temperature is cooler allowing one to walk around and explore this fort at a leisurely pace

Visited Bekal Fort recently — it’s a beautiful historic place with a stunning sea view. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for an evening visit. The fort area is well maintained, though it can get quite hot during the day, so sunset time is best. Nearby, there’s an ANERT EV charging station, which was very convenient for charging my electric car. Food options are limited (mostly ice cream and water), but overall it’s a must-visit place in Kasaragod! 🌊🏰⚡

Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Religious pilgrims travel to this serene, 800-year-old temple honoring several Hindu deities.
800 years ago, Dharmasthala was known as Kuduma in Mallarmadi, a then village in South Kanara. Here lived the Jain Chieftain Birmanna Pergade and his wife Ammu Ballalthi in a house called Nelyadi Beedu. Simple, pious and affectionate people, the Pergade family was known for its generosity and hospitality to all. Miraculous The main "miracle" at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala is the Annadana (free food service), which is believed to be divinely sustained. For centuries, the temple has provided free meals to thousands of devotees daily, with the supply of food never running out, regardless of the number of visitors. Devotees also believe that prayers are answered and that the deity, Lord Manjunatha, grants peace, prosperity, and spiritual strength
Tejus U — Google review
Heritage, Spirituality & Timeless Values Dharmasthala, nestled in the peaceful hills of Karnataka, is one of those rare places where devotion, culture, and humanity come together beautifully. The moment you enter the temple town, there is a serene energy — as if the place itself teaches you to slow down, breathe, and feel grateful. The Sri Manjunatha Swamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, stands as a symbol of faith practiced for centuries. What makes Dharmasthala truly unique is its heritage of Deeksha, Dana, and Dharma. The temple is managed by the Jain Heggade family, yet the deity is Shiva — a perfect example of harmony beyond religion. This inclusive tradition itself is a spiritual lesson. The free, wholesome Anna Prasada, served to thousands every day, reflects Dharmasthala’s commitment to service. The volunteers work with so much dedication that you see spirituality not just inside the sanctum, but in every simple act of kindness around the temple. The cultural heritage here is equally rich. The Manjusha Museum preserves centuries of art, vintage cars, and rare collections. The Bahubali statue at Ratnagiri Hill adds a majestic calmness — standing tall, reminding everyone of sacrifice and self-realization. What touched me the most is that Dharmasthala is not just a temple — it’s a living example of how spiritual life and social service can walk hand in hand. From education, health care, community development to preserving ancient traditions, Dharmasthala continues to inspire millions. If you’re seeking peace, blessings, or simply a reminder of goodness in this world, Dharmasthala is a place your heart will always remember.

Located at the foothills of the Western Ghats, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala is surrounded by the lush green, Lord Manjunatha: The chief deity, Manjunatha, is a form of Lord Shiva and is worshiped in the form of a shivalinga. The lingam was brought from the Kadri Manjunath Temple in Mangaluru over 800 years ago, as instructed by the Dharma Daivas. Ammanavaru (Shakti): The goddess Shakti is worshiped in a separate shrine and is sometimes referred to as Sri Ammanavaru. She represents the supreme feminine energy. Annappa Betta (Badinede Betta): This sacred hill, located near the temple complex, is believed to be the abode of the guardian spirit Annappa. Trekking up the hill rewards visitors with panoramic views of the town and the surrounding countryside. The Netravathi River: The holy Netravathi river flows near the temple and is a focal point of the area's natural beauty. Visitors can spend time on its banks, enjoying the tranquil environment, and there is also a barrage on the river where a nature cure hospital is located. The Western Ghats: The entire town is nestled in the foothills of the Western Ghats mountain range. The proximity to this region means the area is rich with forests, rolling hills, and abundant flora and fauna. Forests and wildlife: A short distance from Dharmasthala, the natural landscape unfolds into dense forests with rich biodiversity. The area is home to various species, and those seeking wildlife can find nature trails and nearby national parks like Kudremukh. Waterfalls: The nearby Charmadi Ghats are known for their picturesque hills and cascading waterfalls, adding to the refreshing natural ambiance of the region.

Dharmasthala temple is a unique in temple architecture, unlike other temples have big gopurams, here the temple architecture looks like a home. - The temple is very spacious to accommodate thousands of devotees. - The premises surrounding the Dharmasthala town is like a forest and bit of uphill. - The main deity is Lord Manjunatheswara - Also, deities you can see Dharma Devas and Ammanavaru - Only traditional dress is allowed for Darsan, Male – without banyan and shirt, Jeans allowed. Female – Saree or Panjabi dress. Children – No western wear. - After Darsan, you can visit the Anna Prasada Hall and have temple food here. - Overall Darsan may take anytime between 30 mins to 2 hours, depending on the day and time you visit the temple. - If you have the time, visit the Netravati river and perform river bath before having the Lord Manjunatheswara Darsan. The lot of parking space is available near temple if you come in your own vehicle. Outside the temple you can find lot of shops and hotels if you need to shopping at roadside and have food. If you have the please do visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple which is about 1.30 hours away from Dharmasthala temple, and in general whoever visits the Dharmasthala temple, they also visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple.

Difficult to find rooms but the cost is affordable to all. Long wait for darshan. Recently they made resting areas during the queue like tirupati. Clean floors. Better to visit in the early morning to avoid rush. We entered at 6.30 am and came out at 7.30 am.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Western Ghats, the Adishakthyathmaka Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple in Horanadu is a divine sanctuary that captivates visitors with its serene beauty. Located on the banks of the tranquil Bhadra River, this ornate Hindu temple is surrounded by lush greenery and majestic mountains, creating a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection and devotion.
Annapoorneswari Temple in Horanadu is a beautiful temple surrounded by forests and lots of greenery. The views around the temple are fantastic. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, and it feels very spiritual. I had a fantastic darshan and felt super happy after visiting. The whole place is clean, well-managed, and full of positive energy. It’s a wonderful place to visit for peace of mind and blessings.

The best place ever for devotees.. Goddess Annapoorneshwari is so powerful that she makes you to automatically come there, take blessings and have the Annaprasada whenever she wants to see you. Her Ashirvada is the only thing everyone would love to have and she gives it hands full if you seek her blessings from your heart. There are accommodation facilities available. You can have a hot water bath for 30rs only. Washrooms are neat and clean. To prebook the rooms you should contact the office. Waiting time for darshana is around 5 to 10 mins and the greatness of the goddess is she allows all to get her view from as near as possible. Mangalarathi takes place around 1.30 pm in the afternoon and that might be the best time according to me to have darshana in the day time. If you are staying in there then the night darshana and mangalarathi would be great as the Alankara to the goddess looks amazing and divine. From this place sringeri is 3 hours away and you can plan one day trip to both Sringeri and Horanadu. Many types of Seva are available and the Akki Seve is the one which is very famous.

Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple was one of the most peaceful and fulfilling experiences I’ve had. The moment you step inside, there’s a sense of comfort that’s hard to put into words. The darshan of Goddess Annapoorneshwari feels genuinely divine. The way the deity is adorned and the energy in the sanctum make the whole experience very calming. The temple administration is well-organized, and the place is maintained with real care. The highlight, of course, is the anna prasadam. It’s simple, pure and served with so much warmth that it truly lives up to the spirit of the temple. Sitting down for that meal feels like a blessing in itself. The surroundings are beautiful too, especially if you visit early in the morning or around sunset. The entire area has a quiet spiritual charm that makes you want to stay back for a while. If you’re anywhere near Chikkamagaluru, this temple is a must-visit. You leave with a full heart and a feeling of gratitude.

I recently visited the Hornadu Annapoorneshwari Temple, and it was a truly peaceful and divine experience. The temple is surrounded by lush green hills and the Bhadra River, giving it a very calm and refreshing atmosphere. The temple architecture is traditional and beautiful, with detailed carvings and a golden idol of Goddess Annapoorneshwari, who is believed to be the Goddess of food and nourishment. The darshan felt very special and serene. The temple management is very organized. The darshan queue moves quite smoothly, and even on weekends or special days, the wait is not too long. There’s no specific fee for regular darshan, and the temple offers free meals (Anna Prasada) to all visitors throughout the day. The prasadam is simple, tasty, and served with great devotion. It’s one of the main highlights of this temple. - Clean and well-maintained premises. - Separate area for footwear and a cloakroom for bags. - Plenty of parking space near the temple. - Shops outside selling pooja items, prasadam, flowers, and souvenirs. - Lodging and food options available nearby for those who wish to stay overnight. - Darshan timings: usually from around 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Overall, Hornadu is not just a temple visit, but a soul soothing experience filled with devotion, nature, and positive energy.

More than a Temple, It's a Blessing. A powerful darshan left us humbled by Annapoorna Devi. Pray for abundance and the ability to serve others. Gratitude and Grace at Annapoorna Devi's Temple. This visit was a profound reminder of divine provision. We prayed for the ultimate blessing: the means to be a blessing to others. Plus, with a great parking lot and a darshan under 20 minutes, it was a perfectly smooth spiritual journey.

Panambur Beach — a really nice beach, though it gets quite crowded in the evenings. The best time to visit is early in the morning to truly enjoy the vibe. When we went, it started raining, and the dramatic visuals of nature were both stunning and a bit scary to witness.

Located some 12 km from the city centre, situated quite inside from the main road, this beach doesn’t come close to the fame it has. It’s a dirty, badly maintained and just one-time visit type of beach. Quite spacious and good scope to develop it as a model- sea beach, Government apathy and lackadaisical attitude towards any tourism places not just beaches have made such a wonderful location in a just one cheap and third grade beach. I don’t recommend. But yes, it does have some extra activities to for enjoyment.
