Nestled on the slopes of the Marudamalai hills, the Arulmigu Anuvavi Subramaniar Temple is a captivating destination just 27 kilometers from Coimbatore city center. This temple stands out not only for its spiritual significance but also for its breathtaking panoramic views of the Western Ghats. Visitors are drawn to this sacred site by its unique feature: a natural water flow that persists throughout the year, creating an enchanting atmosphere.
A peaceful hill top temple. Calm and quiet atmosphere. The climb is not that difficult. There is plenty of parking space. The temple timing is from 9 am but you can climb to the top before that. The view from the top of temple is splendid. The architecture was stunning with intricate carving and peaceful atmosphere. It is a place where one can connect with nature, find peace. Temple is overall well maintained. Near the parking down, there is also a giant Anganeya statue which dominates the landscape.
Arsha K — Google review
The temple is located in the western ghats, we need to climb above 250steps to see the Muruga, Shivan is on the top above 30 steps. It gives peace of mind while visiting the temples. This place's maintenance was good. They have pure drinking water, daily Ananadnam free tokens is given after 12 PM. The crowd was less at 08 - 10AM & crowded on an auspicious day. Prasadham for devotee's is available. It is one of the famous temple of Lord Murugan . Mostly LESS crowded all the time. The temple is very pleasing at hill top vibes. The car parking is available at Ground. There are one shop nearby outside the temple entrance. It is a must visit one for everyone and you will get blessings. Public transport is not much available. Patience plays the vital role of worshiping any temple unless you're blessed .There is no ticket. Some more amenities can be arranged.
Lava K — Google review
Beautiful tiny temple at a hill top. You would need to climb close to 200 steps to reach top. From there climb another 30 steps to reach Sivan sannathi which is the top most point. The views from atop is gorgeous and splendid. There's also a huge carpark area.
Manikandan — Google review
The place which lifts up your mindset. So far it's clean because of less crowd. Treat your trash right. Be responsible and just co-exist with the birds and animals without creating disturbances.
Yogii K — Google review

Hindu temple

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Serene Hindu temple complex on hill featuring a garden & large Dwajasthambam (flagstaff).
A beautiful and serene temple having a peaceful ambiance, well managed by KG mills company. The deity inside is exactly the same as that of Tirupati Balaji, Andhra Pradesh. Inside there is a Goshala. There will be a crowd always and it takes a little bit of wait to get Darshan. The main deity and sanctum santorum is accessed by climbing stairs from the ground. There is a counter for selling Temple ladoos and another counter for serving temple prasadam. There are another numerous counters for selling Pooja items and Trigger branded jeans, shirts, tshirts etc. (Oct 2025)

Then tirupati is a Hindu, Perumal temple is nearly maintained by a private organization. Located in sirumugai road at a distance of 36 km from Gandhipuram and takes 55 minutes depending on traffic. On the leftside of the road a board is kept by highways tamil nadu in front of the temple. Please, refer the board for entry (there's an error in showing the entrance by Google map). At the entrance itself they collect the cell, camera to maintain the silence at the temple venue. Taking photos on the premises is not allowed. A peaceful, silent and devotional scenario for pleasant prayers. Some factory outlets and small sales counters and tea stall are available. Toilets, urinals and closets are maintained neatly. Good parking space is available. They charge Rs.50 for "laddu", nice. Suggestion to the sales counter : laddu is dry on the outer, please, check it. There's a cow shelter and sells "panjakavyam" @ Rs 100 per liter.
Thangavel Y — Google review
Very calm and devotional place. The positive vibe once we entered into the prayer area is really goosebumps.

Lord is always divine. But priest class is always cheating and create misery for common man. At 9am they make people walk all the way and tell that temple will open at 11am . When will this atrocities change only God knows

This Temple is wonderful place especially Ekanthasevai @ 7.30Pm on everyday . Very pleasant/ calm - Holyplace . Temple is maintained very clean & organised in better manner . Prasadham will be given after dharsan. Special abhisekam on special days . It is KG Denim Private owned temple . Only one suggestion - Passage way to parking area may be maintained little better
Selva K — Google review
A very calm and cozy private temple with a view of serene nature with a view of pure positivity. Mobile 📱 phones are not allowed inside the temple and there is a safe deposit for the mobile phones. Delicious Laddus for the cost of ₹50 each is available here. Apart from the temple there are lot of dress shops at cheaper price rate. Ample parking space for four wheelers, even to accommodate vans and buses are available. A small eatery, bakery and provision store is located with the temple premises, for the convenience of the devotees.
KAMALANATH M — Google review
This place is maintained by KG denim company. Good big temple. Every day perumal marriage is being performed. Trigger had factory price shop inside the temple premises. The premises has good parking facility.
SENDIL S — Google review
Nice and calm place to visit with family. This is a private owned temple by KG mills, that's the reason you can see Trigger outlets in and around the temple. I would suggest to visit this temple on Saturdays. Parking available for both cars and bikes. No fees for parking or to enter the temple. Mobile or any camera devices are not allowed inside the temple.

Chennimalai Murugan Temple is a Hindu shrine devoted to Lord Murugan, located on a small hill accessible by a trail consisting of 1,320 steps. Visitors can also reach the temple by car or bike via a road with nine hairpin bends. Those coming by bus need to get off at Chennimalai town and take the temple bus available at the foothills.
Beautiful, calm and serene temple located on a hilltop. One of the oldest temples of Lord Murugan. The very famous and sacred kandar shashti kavacham was staged and propagated from this very temple. Most of the devotees prefer to climb up the stairs to reach the temple. There are approximately 1320 stairs to climb. They are not very steep. There are small resting places on the way with shades and drinking water available. There is a road route also to reach the hilltop, just in case you are unable to climb up the stairs. The temple complex is well maintained and main sanctum sanctorum is very divine with strong vibrations. We climbed up and down early in the morning and had a very peaceful darshan. The temple may be crowded during peak festival seasons.

Chennimalai Murugan Temple is one of the oldest and most revered hill shrines of Lord Muruga, believed to predate even the famous Six Abodes (Aarupadai Veedu). 🛕 Quick Review of Chennimalai Murugan Temple - Location: Situated atop Chennimalai Hill in Erode district, Tamil Nadu. - Historical Depth: Thought to be older than the Six Abodes of Muruga, with roots tracing back to ancient Tamil traditions. - Spiritual Significance: The temple is closely linked to the famous hymn Kanda Sashti Kavasam, with the line “Siragiri Velavan” referring to Lord Muruga of Chennimalai. - Architecture: Built in classic Dravidian style, the temple features long stairways and scenic views, offering a serene pilgrimage experience. - Festivals: Major celebrations include Thai Poosam and Panguni Uthiram, drawing thousands of devotees annually. - Cultural Legacy: The temple is a center of devotion, meditation, and Tamil heritage, surrounded by lush hills and natural beauty. Whether you're a devotee or a history enthusiast, Chennimalai offers a divine blend of spirituality and ancient tradition

Had a truly divine day here. The hilltop setting is peaceful and we were delighted to see many peacocks around the premises—made the visit feel extra special. Do be a little careful with the monkeys though; keep food and bags secure. Beyond the main sanctum, there are two smaller temples a short, walkable distance away. The stroll is pleasant and worth it for the serene vibe and views. Facilities were clean, the staff were courteous, and the overall atmosphere was calm and devotional. If you can, try visiting early morning or around sunset for cooler weather and beautiful light. A wonderful place for darshan and a quiet escape from the bustle. 🙏🦚🐒

Chennimalai murugan temple is one of the oldest temples in Tamilnadu. Situated above a hillock. You can either go by walk, government bus by prvate cars and bikes. Neat parking available. There is a siddhar hut behind the main temple. They have been renovating the temple now and then. So neatly maintained.
Sivasankar S — Google review
Beautiful temple located on top of the hill with very peaceful ambience ... Now road to temple has been laid , so you can reach by car, bike and bus operated by temple (like marudhamalai).. Do not litter the temple surrounding. plastic litters are harm to other living things on the hills.. 😞
Rajeswaran K — Google review
If you are planning to visit via public transport from erode there is direct bus. If not there is a bus from kangayam to perundurai vice versa. More than 1200 steps. There is also bus facility available for top but atleast 15 members should opt for that to use bus facility. If you are lucky you can see peacock.

Thindal Murugan Temple is a hillside Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. The temple boasts intricate carvings and a stunning golden stepped tower. It's an ideal place to spend time with family, particularly for kids who will love the visit. Visitors can witness the gold car (thanga ther) run on Fridays at 7 pm by paying Rs 1500. Thai Poosam is the most famous festival here, but it also draws large crowds.
Already reviewed. Super temple. Shri Velayuthaswamy temple in Thindal is a very famous one in Erode. A new Gopuram will come up soon to add more beauty to the temple. It is a must visit temple.
Karthikeyan P — Google review
Nestled atop Thindal Malai hill, the temple offers "a serene atmosphere" and "panoramic views of Erode" . The temple is accessible by climbing roughly 120 steps, or via a well-paved road for vehicles . Ample parking is available, though there is a fee, and some small shops at the base offer flowers and other items . Located approximately 6–8 km from Erode city center, it’s well-connected via buses and road networks . Festivals & Special Highlights The temple car (golden chariot) is run on certain occasions—such as Fridays—and can be witnessed by paying a donation (e.g., ₹1,500) . Major festivals like Thaipusam, Karthigai Deepam, and Panguni Uthiram are celebrated with grandeur and draw large crowds . The temple holds significance as one of the 108 Murugan shrines celebrated in Tiruppugazh hymns .

Thindal Murugan Kovil is truly a divine and spiritually uplifting place dedicated to Lord Murugan, the embodiment of wisdom, courage, and victory. The temple is situated on a small hill, giving devotees a serene atmosphere away from the noise of the city. Climbing up and having darshan itself feels like a blessing, as the cool breeze and peaceful surroundings fill the mind with positivity and devotion. The idol of Lord Murugan here is majestic and radiates divine energy. The temple is well-maintained, with clean premises and organized darshan, allowing devotees to worship peacefully. The chanting of mantras and the sound of temple bells create an aura of spirituality that deeply touches the soul. One of the highlights is the panoramic view from the top of the hill, which adds to the beauty and sanctity of the temple. Visiting during early mornings or evenings gives a blissful experience, especially when the temple lights shine across the city. Festivals, particularly Thaipusam and Panguni Uthiram, are celebrated with grandeur, attracting devotees from far and wide. The spiritual vibrations during these times are indescribable and must be experienced in person. Overall, Thindal Murugan Kovil is not just a temple but a divine destination where one feels closer to Lord Murugan. A must-visit for anyone seeking blessings, peace of mind, and spiritual upliftment... #Haromhara

Thindal Murugan Temple in Thindal, Erode, Tamil Nadu, is a very peaceful and beautiful place to visit. The temple is built on a small hill and offers a lovely view of Erode city. Climbing up is easy, and the cool breeze makes it a pleasant experience. The main deity, Lord Murugan, looks divine and powerful, bringing peace and positivity to everyone who visits. The temple is clean and well maintained, and the priests are kind and helpful. When I visited, some construction work was going on, which shows that the temple is being improved for devotees. There is car parking available, but it is limited, so visiting early or on weekdays is better. The temple is near a busy traffic area, but it’s easy to reach, and there is a bus stop nearby for those using public transport. The morning and evening atmosphere is very calm and spiritual with beautiful chants. Overall, a must-visit temple in Erode for peace, devotion, and blessings.

Beautiful and peaceful Murugan temple on a small hill in Erode. The temple offers a very calm and divine atmosphere, especially during early mornings and evenings. Climbing the steps is easy and gives a great view of the city from the top. The place is always clean and well-maintained. There's enough parking space for both two-wheelers and cars. Special occasions like Thai Poosam or Panguni Uthiram are celebrated very nicely here. The golden chariot (Thanga Ther) procession in the evening is a must-see. Overall, it's a perfect place to visit with family and spend some quiet time in prayer and peace.

Arulmigu Thiru Ardhanareeswarar Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Hilltop Hindu temple featuring a colourful tower & ornate stone carvings, plus panoramic city views.
Fantastic place to visit. I love this 💕 due to its location and the architecture brilliance. This temple is located on a hill top with good roads but narrow roads. They charge you ₹30 for cars and ₹20 for bikes. Lengthy vehicles are not allowed so try to use cars or bikes. There is a lot of parking space available in the open parking place so be mindful about the time of visit. This temple is open until 2:00 pm in the afternoon and reopens after 4:00 pm. There is not much of a crowd and it will take approx. 1 hour to complete the entire temple visit. Unless there are any pooja ongoing. A special Q was available at a cost of ₹25 but still free Q itself is a better option to live with. Take some food if required as you won't find many options on the hill top. No monkey menace when we visited so I hope nothing to worry about monkeys. Refer the images for more information. Must visit places at least once if you get a chance to go around this place.
Jaya P — Google review
Visited on weekday late morning Not much of crowd. So dharisanam was peaceful Reaching the hill top was Quick and easy if you have 4 wheeler or 2 wheeler Parking space is available in plenty. Not much of waiting time anywhere But it could change on weekends or auspicious days. The new white reflective paint on the outer walkway area is a blessing saves us from the hot surface while walking Temple and the hill top view is so peaceful best time would be morning before 9 and evening from 5 so you can avoid the scorching heat. Monkeys are there and they look for food People are still feeding monkeys thinking they are being kind but actually they are making their life miserable it's very sad to see their condition.
Deva K — Google review
This temple situated in hill top and its triple treat journey whether we were thrill to drive in mountains like mini kodaikaanal, viewpoints and Arthenareeswarar temple. it's worth to visit and treat for our mind and as well as eyes
Kanivel P — Google review
The Arthanareeswarar temple in Tiruchengode, Namakkal district, is indeed a highly significant and renowned hill temple in the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu. Its unique aspect lies in its presiding deity, Arthanareeswarar, a combined form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, depicting half male and half female. This representation symbolizes the ultimate unity of masculine and feminine energies, the inseparability of Shiva and Shakti, and the concept of balance and equality in the universe. The temple is considered one of the oldest in the region, with inscriptions on its walls suggesting it might be around 2000 years old. It is also one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams, highly revered Shiva temples glorified in the Thevaram hymns composed by the Saivite saints, notably Thirugnanasambanthar. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and then from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The hill road to reach the temple is accessible only until 5:45 PM; after that, vehicle entry is restricted. Sometimes, the free queue for darshan gets jammed because devotees at the front spend a long time praying before the deity, which can inconvenience others and prevent them from spending sufficient time inside the shrine.
Arunbhaarat — Google review
Wonderful experience in travel to the temple towards the hill track and return. Waiting for a hour for Swamy Daridhan due to Swami Alangaaram. One of my best experiences in my pilgrimage tour.
Manogran K — Google review
The temple’s up on a hill, and the whole place feels really calm and peaceful — it’s got that quiet, spiritual vibe. We didn’t have to wait at all, which was nice. Just a quick heads-up: there are monkeys everywhere — outside, inside, all over — so keep an eye on your stuff! Parking’s easy, and they only charge ₹20 for cars. This temple is mainly known for rituals related to Rahu-Ketu dosha, so a lot of people come specifically for that. Overall a must visit temple if you’re around Coimbatore, Erode or on the way.
Pravin K — Google review
I recently visited Arthanareeswarar Temple in Thiruchengode and felt a deep sense of peace. The hilltop location, ancient architecture, and powerful deity make it a special place. The steps are a bit challenging but worth it for the serene darshan and breathtaking views. A must-visit temple in Tamil Nadu.”

A very good temple, i love it! Peaceful and very powerful. Must visit place. If you have own vehicle , you have a good road and ample parking space on hills. Also you have temple buses which takes you from city to hill top. If you want to see Nagaraja (photo i have attached) then you have small road which reaches to that place directly from city(please do ask the locals they will help you)

Temple with a roofless sanctum housing a large statue of Lord Hanuman, adorned with flower garlands.
A beautiful temple. It may appear to be small but it's a big one and open type of temple. The line is quick and fast moving. You can literally see the god from any place you stand within the temple compound in front. They give vada as well after the darshan. Parking is there nearby at walkable distance in an open ground.

The Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple is quite remarkable the sheer height and open to sky nature of the idol give it a very special feel. It strikes a balance between being accessible it is in town, visible and yet retaining a strong spiritual aura. It’s definitely worth visiting if you are interested in Hindu temple architecture, Hanuman worship, or serene pilgrimage spots in Tamil Nadu. If I were to rate it from reviews and impressions, probably 4.5 / 5 — high in devotion, significance, and experience; small deductions for crowd + parking challenges. You dedicated parking 🅿️ w available insideneed to go further inside.

Namakkal Sree Anjaneyar Temple is one of the most divine and spiritually uplifting places to visit in Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, standing tall in an awe-inspiring 18-foot idol in the open sky without a roof, which is believed to signify his strength and devotion. The majestic figure of Lord Hanuman exudes an aura of peace, power, and positivity that immediately touches devotees. The temple is very well maintained, with clean surroundings and an orderly queue system for darshan. Priests perform rituals with great devotion, and the chanting of mantras fills the atmosphere with spiritual energy. The temple is located close to the famous Namakkal Narasimha Swamy Temple, making it a perfect spiritual circuit for devotees. Another highlight is the serene environment around the temple—free from commercial hustle—allowing visitors to feel deeply connected. Special poojas and Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations draw huge crowds, and the energy is truly divine. Overall, it is not just a temple but a place where one feels inner strength, faith, and peace. A must-visit for anyone traveling near Namakkal.

This temple is of a large sized boon giving Anjaneya in standing posture. Here Anjaneya with folded hands, is facing the sannidhi of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha across the road. Regular Pujas and Thirumanjanams are held to this deity by aspiring devotees - including betel leaves mala, sandal paste, white butter, vadamala etc. A must visit temple in Namakkal & a popular Parihara sthalam.

Home to the powerful deities Yoganarasimar and Namagiri Thaayaar, this temple is a must-visit for anyone in or around Namakkal. Start your spiritual journey here before heading to the famous Anjaneyar temple nearby. If time permits, don’t miss the Namakkal Fort, open to visitors only on Saturdays at 5 PM. 📍 Peaceful. Sacred. Historic. A blend of devotion and heritage.

It’s very calm and beautiful shiva temple located at kolli hills. The temple small and clean with lord shiva as the main deity surrounded by other deities. The temple is under the control of government. There was some work is going during our visit. The views from the temple are awesome and there is one small falls and Agatha Gangai falls at the straight bottom of the temple. Overall it’s definitely worth to visit there

Peaceful Ancient Temple with Spacious Parking Visited Arapaleeswarar Temple in Kolli Hills — a truly serene and spiritual experience. 🚗 Vehicle Entry & Parking: You need to pay a small fee for vehicle entry, but after that there is a large dedicated parking area. It was easy to park, even on weekends. 🛕 Temple Experience: This is a legacy temple with deep history and cultural significance. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is believed to be built during the Chola dynasty and has a unique charm with its simple yet powerful architecture. The inner sanctum feels very peaceful, and the temple atmosphere is calm and divine. 👥 Crowd & Atmosphere: The temple was not crowded during my visit, which allowed for an unhurried darshan. The priests were respectful, and the overall experience was very soulful compared to more commercialized temples. 🍲 Food Options Nearby: Around the temple, there are a few small village-side hotels/restaurants — more like simple sheds — where you can get lunch or basic meals. The food was okay, but don’t expect too much since it’s prepared in a simple village style. Still, it adds to the authentic rural experience. 🌄 Location: Surrounded by the hills and greenery, the temple has a refreshing climate. The approach roads are scenic, and the temple itself adds to the heritage vibe of Kolli Hills. ✅ Overall: A must-visit when you are in Kolli Hills. Easy access, well-managed parking, less crowded, with a spiritually uplifting experience.

I often come to this temple. Because Lord and Lordess appear in majestic forms. Anyone with simple spiritualistic values will get mesmerised by the mind blowing spectacular appearances of Almighty and Almighty Godess. That too to sing Annapoorneswari sthrom infront of Almighty Goddess is really a blessing acquired through a long birth-death cycle. Further Lord Muruga with his consorts is placed right opposite to Aram valartha Nayagi. The background is composed of Lord Vinayaka, Kasi Vishwanathar, Visalakshi, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswathi, Jyestadevi, Durgai, Kalabhairavar and Navagraha sannidhi, apart from Sun & Moon shrines. And then the famous rotating stones are there. To be visited atleast once in lifetime. Not to forget the darshan of SRI CHAKRAM in Ambal sannidhi. OM NAMAH SHIVAYA.

Aagaya Gangai water falls

Mentioned on

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the stunning Kolli Hills, Aagaya Gangai Waterfalls is a breathtaking destination that promises an unforgettable adventure. This natural wonder features crystal-clear waters cascading over lush green rocks, creating a serene and enchanting atmosphere. The journey to the falls involves descending approximately 1,032 steps, which can be quite challenging but ultimately rewarding as you are greeted by the mesmerizing views and refreshing mist of the waterfall.
The water fall is very beautiful and high. There are 1200 steps one side to reach the base of the waterfall which is steep and tiring, but it’s worth it. Must visit spot when you are planning to track the amazing 70 hairpins of the Kolli hills.

Not a falls person but this made me one. It was majestic, spectacular and huge. We had to climb down steep steps of 1100 steps to get down there. Getting up again might be difficult. But it's worth the trip. Literally the best falls in Tamil Nadu imo.

Aagaya Gangai Waterfalls – A Breathtaking Adventure Worth Every Effort!!! Visiting “Aagaya Gangai Waterfalls” in the “Kolli Hills” was an unforgettable experience—a perfect mix of natural beauty and an adventurous trek! The waterfall itself is absolutely mesmerising, with crystal-clear water cascading down lush green rocks, creating a serene and almost magical atmosphere. The sound of the falls, the cool mist in the air, and the surrounding dense forest make it feel like a hidden paradise. However, reaching the falls is “not for the faint-hearted!” The descent involves “around 1,200 steep steps”, and while the views along the way are stunning, the climb down (and especially back up) is quite challenging. The steps can be slippery, so wearing “good trekking shoes” is a must. There are a few resting spots along the way, but be prepared for a strenuous workout. If you’re not used to long treks, take it slow and carry enough water. Once you reach the bottom, the sight of the “powerful waterfall” makes every step worth it! The pool at the base is perfect for a refreshing dip, though the currents can be strong, so caution is needed. The untouched beauty of the place makes it feel like a secret escape from the world. Tips for future visitors: ✅ Start early to avoid the midday heat. ✅ Carry snacks, water, and a change of clothes. ✅ Wear “non-slip shoes” the steps can be treacherous. ✅ If you have knee or mobility issues, reconsider the trek. The journey back up is even harder, so pace yourself. But honestly, the sheer beauty of Aagaya Gangai makes the struggle worthwhile. It’s one of the most stunning waterfalls in Tamil Nadu, and the sense of accomplishment after completing the trek is unbeatable! “Highly recommended for adventure lovers and nature enthusiasts” just be prepared for a tough but rewarding experience! 🌿💦 Would I visit again? Absolutely! (But maybe after some leg training! 😆)

Kolli Hills: A Paradise for Nature Lovers If you're a nature enthusiast, Kolli Hills is a must-visit destination. Among its many attractions, the breathtaking Aagaya Gangai Waterfalls stands out. Located just a few kilometers from the city center, you can easily reach the entry point to the falls by car or bike. The Tamil Nadu Forest Department charges a nominal entry fee of ₹25 per person. From the entry, you'll need to descend about 600-900 steps to reach the waterfall. While the trek can be a bit challenging, the stunning views of nature along the way make it feel like a dream. The falls themselves are nothing short of spectacular. Towering and powerful, the cascading water resembles fine powder pouring from the top of the hill. The spray from the falls is so intense that it feels like standing in a gentle rain—an experience that will leave you mesmerized. Tips for Visitors: Wear raincoats and use waterproof mobile covers. Avoid carrying electronic gadgets unless they are well-protected from water. Aagaya Gangai is truly a must-visit spot for anyone exploring Kolli Hills. (This review is based on my personal experience.)

1008 Shiva & Rajarajeshwari Temple Salem

The 1008 Shiva Temple in Salem is a Hindu temple complex dedicated to Shiva, featuring an array of 1008 identical Nandi statues carved from stone. The main highway runs close by, but the temple can only be reached at the top of the hill. In addition to the impressive lingas and nandis, there are also other allied group temples such as Perumal Temple.
Nestled in the serene surroundings of Ariyanoor, near Salem, the 1008 Lingam Temple offers an ideal escape for those seeking peace, silence, and spiritual rejuvenation. Surrounded by lush greenery and well-maintained natural beauty, this sacred site invites visitors into a tranquil journey of devotion and inner calm. The walk to the top of the mountain is both refreshing and reflective, with every curve of the pathway lined with Shiv Lingas and Nandi statues. Along the way, you’ll encounter various deities that enrich the spiritual atmosphere — from Lord Ganesha welcoming you at the entrance, to temples dedicated to Lord Rama, Jai Hanuman, Lord Shiva with Subramanyam, and the powerful Shakthi Devi. The entire trail is embraced by green plants and tall trees, adding to the sense of serenity. At the summit, a majestic 17-meter statue of Sri Umayambigai Sametha Sri Arunachala Sundareswara overlooks the hills, offering not just panoramic views but a deeply calming presence. The peaceful ambiance and sacred energy make this temple a perfect destination for those wishing to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with their inner self.
Pranurish Z — Google review
About the temple It’s a relatively modern temple (built around 2010) under the care of the Vinayaka Mission. It has 1008 Shiva lingams arranged such that 1007 surround a central lingam, with a statue of Nandi in front. On the hilltop, the main shrine houses Sri Umaiyambigai Samedha Sri Arunachala Sundareswara. The temple is located on Salem’s bypass road, in Ariyanoor, about 14 km from Salem city centre. Timings There is some variation in reported timings. Here are the credible ones: According to Salem district’s official temple list: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tamil Nadu Tourism brochure also lists the same timings: 7:30 am–12:30 pm & 4:00 pm–8:00 pm Some sources say it opens from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (for general viewing) One devotional blog suggests 5:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm From TripAdvisor Q&A: for main deity pooja, best between 9:00 am–11:00 am and 5:00 pm–8:00 pm Given these, the official timings (7:30 am–12:30 pm, 4:00 pm–8:00 pm) seem most reliable. Best time to visit Morning (soon after opening) is ideal: cooler, quieter, less crowded. Evening is also pleasant, especially during dusk, when the light and surroundings are serene. The winter months (November to February) are often recommended as the best time to visit (milder weather) Avoid midday in hot months, as heat and direct sun may make the walk up less comfortable

A Serene and Divine Discovery in Salem !! I truly regret having missed this divine place during my previous travels through Salem. This is a serene and peaceful location, nestled amidst nature and adorned with numerous Shiva Lingas, offering a truly calming and spiritually enriching experience. The temple provides convenient car parking with two options. You can either park at the bottom and enjoy a peaceful walk up the small hill, or take the Vinayaka Missions entrance to drive directly to the top. I highly recommend starting from the bottom, parking your vehicle, and beginning your ascent from the Vinayagar shrine. This place is a beautiful confluence of faiths, featuring shrines for all in one location. The atmosphere is incredibly calm and divine, filling you with a sense of tranquility and good vibes. When you're traveling through Salem, I urge you to take the time to visit this spot. You will be pleasantly surprised by the breathtaking views and the powerful, positive energy of the place.

A serene spiritual experience perched on a hill, this temple features an enchanting walkway lined with 1008 Shiva lingams and Nandi statues. The complex is clean, well-maintained, and offers beautiful views of the surrounding greenery. The ascent is pleasant whether you walk or drive, and the inner sanctum has a powerful aura. Some visitors note minor upkeep issues, but overall it’s a must-visit for those seeking peace and devotion.
Shivani P — Google review
Peaceful, unique, and beautifully laid out. Walking the pathway past row after row of Shiva lingams with a majestic central sanctum feels meditative—even on a busy day. The campus is clean, signage is clear, and darshan usually moves smoothly. Families and seniors will appreciate the benches and shaded stretches; kids get excited spotting the numbered lingams. What I liked: calm priests, tidy prakarams, and the satisfying “parikrama” loop where you can complete a quiet round of prayer without jostle. Plenty of photo-worthy angles in the open courtyard (avoid the sanctum for photos). Good to know: mornings and late evenings are cooler; afternoons can be hot in the open areas—carry water. Parking is straightforward near the entrance. Dress modestly, and keep small change/UPI handy for archana/prasadam. Tip: do one slow clockwise round touching each pillar/lingam cluster with your right hand—it turns the visit into a mindful walk. Secret tip: after the main darshan, stand a few minutes at the far end of the courtyard and look back toward the central shrine—the symmetry of the 1008 lingams lining up to the sanctum is the most serene frame of the temple. 🙏

Shevaroyan Temple is one of the must-visit spots in Yercaud, not just for its spiritual significance, but mainly for the stunning views it offers. Located at the highest point in Yercaud, this place gives you a panoramic view of the surrounding hills, valleys, and dense forests. The best time to visit is during the evening—especially around sunset. As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, the sky turns into a canvas of golden, orange, and pink hues. The cool mountain breeze, peaceful atmosphere, and the expansive view make it a magical experience. It's one of those rare places where nature truly takes center stage. There is a parking area available, though they do collect parking charges. The area is quite spacious, which is a plus. That said, it's a bit surprising to see parking fees being collected at a natural and spiritual site like this. Overall, if you're in Yercaud, don't miss Shevaroyan Temple—come for the temple, stay for the views, and leave with a sense of calm and awe.

I like to walk on this vast expanse of flat ground. It's so breezy. The sunset was great This is turning out to be the go-to place for open drinking as evidenced by the numerous alcohol bottles and plastic cups strewn around. Dicky- bars are the in thing and it is not safe anymore to go out with women and children. Will the Yercaud Municipality think of cleaning up the place. Even the dustbin provided are overflowing. Will the Police atleast prevent public drinking in open spaces

Early mornings and evenings are ideal to experience cool breeze. This temple is dedicated to vishnu (perumal) and one unique aspect is the cave where devotees bend down and offer their prayers. Overall it is a beautiful and spiritually uplifting place to visit.

It's a pleasant experience visiting this temple on every trip to Yercaud. I usually visit on my last day while returning. You can get nice clicks on the view point to which you can drive up to. If you are with family, no need to walk all the way. Sadly our beloved fellow Indians throw all kinds of garbage in that place from plastics to glass bottles. Something to be cautious about if you are with kids. The temple experience is pleasant and if you are tall at 6ft like me you have to crouch a bit to get in the cave. Nevertheless, it's a great place to visit.

Went there but got only disappointment. No boating service was there..it looked more like a temple pond rather than a lake. The locals around informed that the boating service hasn't started yet. They did guided us to a view point nearby but if you plan for boating ..please check whether they have started the boating service and then go.
Bhargavi M — Google review
This is not a lake infact a small pound near to temple. Do not keep very high hope on this place but it's good to visit if you have free time just enjoy near the pond, visit the temple and buy some from Fruits and vegetables from local vendor. We went early morning around 7-8 AM and we enjoyed the view and spent like 30 minutes and came back.

Just a small request.. please take some food with you probably biscuit or bread and feed the fishes in that lake... You'll love that feeling

A beautiful and peaceful temple located on top of the hill in Yelagiri. The surroundings are calm with a lovely view of the valley. The steps are easy to climb, and the temple is clean and well maintained. You can feel a positive and divine atmosphere as soon as you reach the top. It's a great place to visit with family, especially in the morning or evening for a pleasant experience. Must-visit spot for those coming to Yelagiri

The yelagiri consisting of three major villages athanavur nilavur and mangalam. In the first village this murugan temple is there as usual on a hill top. There is ganapathy anjaneyar temple in the bottom with around 50 steps easily accessible, this temple gives the nice view of the yelagiri hills. Murugan is with two consorts Valli and Deivayani and spear is also there in front of the murugan deity.

I loved this temple. It's in a small hillock. Need to climb around 50 steps. Very calm atmosphere. The view of the mountains from the temple is awesome. The temple is accessible in odd noon time too for tourists. However, Iyer/gurukal will not be available during the odd hours.

The temple is well maintained, clean, and beautifully built. The Girivalam (Giripradakshina) around the holy Arunachala hill is around 14 km — a wonderful spiritual walk filled with devotion and positive energy. Best time is early morning or full moon days. Must visit for anyone who loves spirituality, peace, and nature. Om Namah Shivaya 🙏 #Tiruvannamalai #LordShiva

Arunachaleshwara Temple has impressive scale and architecture, spiritual significance as one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalam (Agni or fire), and the importance of the Girivalam (circumambulation of the Annamalai hill). It has a powerful, spiritual atmosphere, noting that the temple can be very crowded, especially during festivals or special events like Karthigai Deepam or full moon days., but also that early morning visits offer a more serene experience. Commonly mentioned engineering marvels of the temple, such as the massive stone construction and the mysterious shadow of the vimana and the spiritual energy of the place. You can pre-book just before 2-3 hours for darshan and can be booked both online and offline to avoid the long queues for darshan. Puja items are sold around the temple area.

Visited on week end. Too much crowded. Took around 5 hours to take the darshan. Finding car parking was difficult. Finally could able to park with the help of a auto drive around 800 meters away from Raja gopuram basically it's one of the entrance. Parking fee was Rs 80. I am not sure if this parking was really run by temple authority because it dint look so. Better to take Rs 50 entrance ticket to save some time. I was not aware that there is such facility. After the darshan we can buy sweet pongal and pulihogre for Rs. 10 each. Temple also sells laddus and other items priced Rs. 50 each.

Visited here during Pournami and did the Giripradakshina at night, starting around 12 AM and completing it by 6 AM. The crowd was massive, so after finishing the walk we took some rest in the morning as darshan was difficult due to the rush. Later in the afternoon, around 2 PM, we went for darshan and were able to complete it in just 30 minutes. The experience was peaceful and truly blissful — we really loved the place. Arulmigu Annamalaiyar (Arunachaleswarar) Temple in Tiruvannamalai is a major South Indian Shiva temple located at the foot of the sacred Arunachala Hill. Built by the early Cholas in the 9th century and expanded by later dynasties, it stands as a grand example of Dravidian architecture with many gopurams, mandapams, shrines, and temple tanks. The temple’s spiritual significance is highlighted in texts like Arunachala Puranam and Tiruppugazh, and Lord Shiva is believed to have manifested here as a self-born lingam under a magizha tree. Many saints, including Ramana Maharshi and Seshadri Swamigal, attained samadhi here. I visited today along with my friend, and the darshan was amazing. We spent nearly an hour in the temple after the darshan, and it filled us with a lot of positive energy. Please note: On Pradosham and auspicious days, the temple becomes highly crowded, and waiting time for darshan can range from 3 to more than 6 hours. Parking is also difficult, and you may have to park far from the temple and walk or take auto. If visiting with senior citizens, plan accordingly. Buying special dharshan ticket for Rs 50/- will help.. To avoid crowds, visit on non-festival days, non-auspicious days, and weekdays.

It is a very spiritual and peaceful place. A very good temple to visit with family and friends. The atmosphere is divine and gives a positive energy. Some suggestions for improvement: Currently, the entry fees are accepted only in cash. It would be better if they start accepting UPI or digital payments, as it is convenient for many visitors. Also, they often ask for exact change, which is difficult sometimes. In case of emergencies, it would be good if the management allows devotees to exit easily. For example, one parent’s kid was crying but they did not allow them to leave quickly and insisted on following the full queue. Since they are collecting entry fees, they should provide better services and facilities for devotees. Some of the management staff have a rude attitude, which can be improved to make devotees feel more welcomed. Overall, it is a must-visit spiritual place, but these small improvements can make the experience even better.

Heard about this place a lot so went on 5th oct 25 with family. The parking area was covered but still slushy due to overnight rains. We had to wade through the slush. Though entry fee was rupees 20 but no staff was available hence we entered free. The temple was maintained well. The siva lingams were placed in a orderly manner and pathway was built to access all the lingams. On the biggest lingam honeybees have built their honeycomb. Photo attached. Anyone can keep a lingam in their name after paying rupees 8000 for small one, 35000 for a bigger one and more than a lac for giant size siva lingam. A small pooja will be conducted then a space is allotted for your lingam. Drawback was they do not accept gpay or credit card or debit card only cash. This issue needs to be addressed by the temple authorities. They should not expect devotees to bring this much amount of cash. Infact for using toilet facilities the person collects rupees 5 per head via gpay though the toilet was nasty. The authorities must reign up the contractor. Overall a must visit place but take good amount of cash if you want to keep a lingam there.
Balasubramanian N — Google review
Worthy of a one time visit only. Lots of various hindu deities within the complex, beside the 'koti' (meaning crore/ten million) shivlings spread across the place. Serene and peaceful yet this place is by no means a temple for offering prayers. It's clearly made out to be more of a tourist attraction. Starting from paid parking, entry fee of ₹20/- per person, directed visitors in a sequence to confront various hindu deities where the pujari's give you extra attention if one offers money. Better yet, these 'pujaris' coax every visiting individual to 'offer' money for 'blessings'. If one doesn't give/offer money, they grumble and show a care less attitude. Personally dissappointed and not likely to visit this place ever again. I reiterate, this place is more of a tourist attraction, not exactly a place of worship. Accordingly, go mentally prepared when visiting this place.

Temple is very good. Road is also nice to drive if you by Bangalore-Chennai expressway. The only thing which I did not like was at the entrance many transgenders who would demand money from everyone. Other thing is unnecessary forcing people through all the small temples in a queue. Rest all things are very nice and energy there is astonishing. Pujari told there was Brihma temple as well which is second only after Pushkar ji.

Kotilingeshwara Temple, located in Kamasandra near Kolar (about 90 km from Bangalore), is a unique and significant spiritual site. The name "Kotilingeshwara" translates to "Lord of a Crore (10 million) Lingas", symbolizing devotion and the massive scale of the temple's spiritual ambition. The main attraction is the 108-foot-tall Shiva Linga, one of the tallest in the world, accompanied by a 35-foot Nandi statue. Surrounding it are over 90 lakh (9 million) small Shivalingas, installed by devotees over the years. According to a priest there, around 10 lakh more need to be installed to reach the goal of 1 crore (10 million) Lingas, which is the temple's namesake and vision. The temple complex also houses shrines for many other deities such as Ganesha, Hanuman, Annapoorneshwari, Vishnu, and others, making it a multi-deity pilgrimage spot. That said, the experience feels over-commercialized. There's a mandatory ₹20 entrance fee, and almost every shrine has people expecting or insisting on donations, even for a simple darshan. Especially at the Annapoorneshwari shrine, visitors are pressured to donate ₹100 or ₹200 in exchange for a packet of vibhuti, which many may find forceful or inappropriate. Overall, it’s a fascinating temple to visit for its scale and symbolism, but be prepared for repeated donation requests and a very money-minded environment.

Recently visited the place early morning from Bangalore, the road is so good for a road trip. The timing of temple opening mentioned on google is wrong, it doesn’t open at 6 am it does at 7:30 am so plan your travel accordingly. There is ample parking space around the temple, footwear stands are available and some local shops around the temple. The entry ticket is Rs 20 per adult, kids below six years have free entry. The temple allows only traditional dress code for men and women, and phones are allowed inside the temple premises. There are many small temples inside of different deities along with all the lingams. There are many temple area is huge and takes at least an hour to visit fully. The views are mesmerising and definitely worth visiting at least once in your lifetime!

The Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple, also known as the Sripuram Golden Temple, is a magnificent structure located at the base of lush hills in southern Vellore. It is renowned for being the largest golden temple globally and features a stunning star-shaped path and beautiful gardens within its spiritual park complex. The temple houses a 70-kilogram statue of Sri Lakshmi Narayani, adorned with 1500 kilograms of pure gold.
Very beautiful place surrounded by green. After entering from the main gate there's the ticket counter on the left . After getting tickets there are counters for keeping your phones and shoes (different counters for both). As phones were not allowed couldn't take any more pictures. Then walk through the passage gates according to your tickets price. Visit the temples , watch different trees on the way. Very eye soothing. You can get "bhog" at last before the exit. Very peaceful it was. If you visit vellore and have time you can go there. Thank you.

Worth visiting for Lakshmi’s blessings, but skip the ticket. 🙏🏻 It’s a beautiful temple and definitely worth visiting to receive the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. However, I don’t recommend buying the paid ticket — I got the ₹300 one and honestly, it wasn’t worth it. The free visit is more than enough to enjoy the temple. 🪷✨

Vellore Fort, situated in the city of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, is a remarkable historical site that represents the area's rich heritage. Spanning 133 acres, this architectural marvel was constructed by the Nayak dynasty in the 16th century and has been occupied by various rulers throughout history. The fort boasts massive walls, intricate carvings, and a multi-religious complex featuring a temple, mosque, and church as symbols of religious tolerance.
This place is awesome! If you’re into history, you should definitely visit this. There’s a beautiful Lord Shiva temple inside the fort with stunning architecture it’s truly a sight to behold. The views from the fort are amazing too! Just a heads-up: if you explore the deeper parts, be careful of bugs and snakes. From my experience, I even spotted some snake burrows, so don’t let your guard down when wandering around, especially in the deep parts!

Vellore Fort is a huge and magnificent fort that stands as a reminder of Vellore’s rich history. The fort is surrounded by a beautiful temple and a calm lake, which makes the place very scenic and peaceful. The architecture is strong and detailed, showing the amazing skill of the builders from centuries ago. Walking through the large stone walls and old gateways feels like stepping back in time. Inside the fort, the Jalakandeswarar Temple adds a divine touch to the place. The lake around the fort gives a lovely view and keeps the surroundings fresh and pleasant. It is a great spot for those who love history, architecture, and photography. The wide open area inside the fort is perfect for exploring, but it can also be tiring, especially under the hot sun. The place is quite vast, so walking all around it takes time and effort. Despite the heat, the experience is worth it because the fort has so much character and beauty. A morning or evening visit might be more comfortable. Overall, Vellore Fort is an impressive structure that reflects India’s glorious past, surrounded by divine energy and natural charm.

Jalakanteswarar Temple, Vellore is a 16th-century Hindu temple displaying classic Vijayanagaram architecture. The temple features an intricately carved tower and hosts beautiful classical dance programs. The campus is quite large with a green environment ideal for walking and running. Visitors can enjoy spending time in the park, although some cleaning work is required as people tend to throw plastic waste there.
WOW!!! This temple is inside the beautiful Vellore fort. The temple is low from ground level but the Rajagopuram is stunning. Visiting the Jalakandeswarar Temple in Vellore was a peaceful and uplifting experience. The temple structure is very beautiful, with amazing stone carvings and traditional South Indian architecture. The tall gopuram and carved pillars show the fine skill of ancient builders. Inside, Lord Shiva is worshipped as Jalakandeswarar, and having darshan felt truly divine and calming. There is no strict dress code here, but it is best to dress modestly as a mark of respect. The temple complex is large, with a wide area to walk around and admire the surroundings. Inside, there are also small temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Karthikeya, and Goddess Akilandeswari. The temple has a beautiful mandapam, which is used for special rituals and temple programs. We visited on Ekadasi, and there was a lively spiritual atmosphere with sadhus and devotees taking part in prayers and chanting. Though the temple attracts many visitors, the darshan line usually moves quickly and rarely takes more than 30 minutes. The temple also serves Anna Prasadam, which is simple, fresh, and filled with devotion. Overall, Jalakandeswarar Temple is not just a sacred place of worship but also a stunning example of art, faith, and history. It leaves your heart full of peace.

This is the only best part of the vellore fort campus. Please do not forget to visit the hall of pillars just after the entrance on the left. This place is worthy to visit at least once (especially for the pillars 😍)

Sri Swayambhu Varasidhi Vinayaka Swamy Devastanam, Kanipakam is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, located in the small village of Kanipakam in Andhra Pradesh, India. The temple features intricate carvings, shrines, and statues and is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in South India.
Recently visiting a friends with Kanipakam Sri Swayambhu Ganesha Temple is truly divine and spiritually uplifting. The idol is swayambhu (self-manifested), making the darshan very powerful and unique. The temple radiates positivity, peace, and a strong sense of devotion. A must-visit holy place where prayers feel instantly heard and the atmosphere fills you with divine energy... Temple should avoid practices of asking money as true devotion must remain pure and heartfelt.. Be aware of agents outside temple.. money is not everything.. sad part is even though temple was free enough they made us walk up and down the stairs for min 2 kms (even though people were hardly 10 to 15 members) One small request is to organise a special darshan facility for senior citizens and those unable to walk, which will make the experience even more comfortable and inclusive...

Kanipakam Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple – History & Experience Located in the serene village of Kanipakam in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district, this temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is famed for its miraculous origins and divine presence. Built in the 11th century by Chola king Kulothunga Chola I and later expanded by the Vijayanagara rulers, the temple houses a self-manifested (Swayambhu) idol of Lord Ganesha that emerged from a well. Legend says three differently-abled brothers—one blind, one mute, and one deaf—were digging a well when they struck a stone. Blood gushed out, and miraculously, all three were cured of their disabilities. The idol remains half-submerged in water to this day and is believed to be growing in size over time, defying scientific explanation. Devotees flock here not just for blessings but also to take oaths, as the temple is considered a “Court of Truth”—where lies are believed to be exposed in the presence of the deity. The atmosphere is deeply spiritual, especially during festivals like Vinayaka Chavithi and Brahmotsavam, which draw thousands of pilgrims. A visit to Kanipakam is not just a religious experience—it’s a journey into faith, mystery, and divine justice.

One of the most unique features is that the idol of Lord Ganesha is swayambhu, meaning self-manifested—not man-made. The idol emerged naturally from the earth and continues to grow in size slowly over time, which is considered miraculous by devotees. The temple has a sacred well or “Kalyani”, where the idol was first discovered. The well still holds water year-round, and during abhishekam (ritual bathing), the water overflows—regardless of the season—which many believe is divine.

Kanipakam Varasidhi Vinayaka Temple 🛕 Feeling ever grateful to visit this sacred temple of Lord Ganesha. The divine presence here fills the heart with peace and positivity. The atmosphere is calm, pleasant, and truly spiritual — a place where you can feel the blessings of Lord Vinayaka in every moment. 🙏🏻✨ Buses are conveniently available from Tirupati Bus Station. Opt for the bypass bus, which takes around 1½ hours and is faster than the regular routes. Om Shri Varasidhi Vinayaka Namaha!🙏🏻

Beautiful temple and if you prefer to go for abhisehkam then you have to go with dhoti and no shirt.you can get the dhoti sold there for 200 rupees. With a ticket of 750, they allow 2 people to attend the abhishekam. Its a big place and nevr miss to see all the God idols. You also get ladder prasadam there which you need to buy.

Another great spiritual place near Tirupati. I visited the temple during weekend and it took more than 1 hr to get the darshan. It was crowded but ttd team managed it well. Total divine and make sure you don't miss this temple when you are in Tirupati. You get the 150 token inside the premise itself.

The temple need to develop more as it would helps in generating the revenue from devotees. Nice view from the top of hill. Huge rush for rope cable it will take around 2-3hrs and the management of rope cable is not good they said rope cable will close at 5pm but they started closing at 4.00pm. If you go by steps it will take 45mins to 1hr but the major issue is with monkeys dnt take eatable items when u climb through steps and carry stick for your safety from monkeys. Total steps are 1305 up and down it would be 2610.

Great temple, but very bad queing system. There is no way one can get out of the queue for emergency in a 2 hour long stride!!! They cannot build a queue like a prison. They have to make it more open and put a security to guide people to get in and get out for emergency issues. The rope car is really a boon. Kudos to the management.

This is a beautiful temple and it is a Divya Desam. There are plenty of monkeys so please advice women not wear flowers on their head, the monkeys will trouble you. There is now a winch available.

Parking was straightforward (there’s a paid car park at the base), but everything after that was a real endurance test: 1 305 steep, winding steps The staircase zigzags up the hill with several turns, so it isn’t a simple straight climb. The last 100 steps are the steepest and have no sun-shade, so you’re exposed to full heat just when your legs are burning the most. Aggressive monkeys everywhere: Every 10–15 steps you’ll meet a troop scanning for anything they can snatch—flowers, coconuts, water bottles, shawl, even jasmine from women’s hair. Bring offerings hidden inside a bag or under a shawl; keep bottles out of sight and avoid plastic carry-bags. Despite temple staff trying to net off entrances, a few monkeys still get inside the mandapam and prasadam area. Hygiene & cleanliness: Monkey droppings are scattered along the stairs, making footing slippery and the smell unpleasant. Workers clean, but the sheer monkey population makes it an uphill battle—literally. Seating at the summit is limited; I ended up perching outside the rest-room and later at the rope-car platform while waiting hours for family members still stuck in the queue. A small paid-prasadam counter (puliyodarai, pongal, etc.) is handy but also crowded once rope-car pilgrims arrive. Overall Visiting this ancient hill shrine is spiritually rewarding, but be ready for a physically punishing, monkey-dodging ascent and long, cramped waits—especially if the rope car is your fallback for elders. Plan for half a day (or more), carry minimal, well-hidden belongings, and pack patience in bulk.

A Peaceful and Divine Experience My visit to this temple was truly a nice experience. The entire atmosphere was filled with peace and positive energy — a perfect place to reflect, pray, and find inner calm. One of the highlights of the visit was the rope car ride to the hilltop temple. The journey offered beautiful views and made reaching the temple easy and enjoyable. Just a note for visitors — the rope car service closes at 4:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly. The temple itself is serene, well-maintained, and spiritually uplifting. I felt deeply connected and refreshed after the visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a moment of peace and divine experience.

The present day Cholingapuram (Sholingar) in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu is one of the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams and one of the 22 Vaishnava temples in the Thondai region, and is considered a very good place of prayer. Thirumangaiyazhwar, Peyazhwar, Nammalwar etc. have performed Mangalasasana and sung songs to the Lord of this place. The Azhwars called this place Kadikashalam after the mythological name. The seven great ascetics, namely Vama Devar, Vasishta, Kathyapar Atri, Jamadagni, Gautama and Bharathuvaja, desired to see the lion in his gentle form and prayed to the Lord. Lord Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, as soon as he wished, granted them a vision in Tirumala for a moment (a moment), and this place came to be known as Kadikashalam. This place was called Cholasimmapuram Cholingapuram and is now called Cholinga. If the Narasimha avatar stands out among the avatars taken by Sriman Narayana, can it be denied? Isn't that the incarnation that clearly revealed the truth that God is everywhere? The greatness and power of the one who incarnated as a lion to help the boy Prahlada, who was studying in school, to make his words true, is the greatest strength of the devotee. Such a lion-like deity is the one who has the temple of Yoga Narasimha Swamy on Thirukkadigai Hill. Before entering the city of Cholingapuram via Arakkonam, the Thirukkulam and the Thoranavai, which are thick with shady trees, point to the hill of Emperuman. The beautiful pond is also known as Brahma Theertham or Thakkankulam. Since it is the pond from which the curse of the four faces is removed, it is also called Brahma Pushkarani. The Utthira temple is dedicated to the venerable Bhaktoshitha Perumal (Thakkan is his name). The flag raising ceremony and flag lowering ceremony are held on the Thiruvadhirai star in the month of Chithirai and the Chitra Pournami star on the Chithirai star. After the Brahmotsavam in the month of Chithirai, when people go up to Periyamalai to watch the flag lowering ceremony and to see the Dvaada Saradhanam, the Tirthavari is seen in this pond, which has become the Takkan pond. There is a beautiful temple and a 30-foot tall statue of Anjaneyar on the banks of this pond. In this temple, you can still see the wonderful statue of Lord Kachchiyappatti appearing in the Garuda Vahanam, especially in the temple of Lord Kanchipuram and the Devaraja appearing in the Garuda Vahanam to his true devotee Swami Thottacharya. If you bathe in the Thakkankulam, wear clean clothes and think cleanly, and go to the foot of the Periyamalai, you will find a pond. This is the Narasimha Theertham. This is the Theertham where Lord Shiva got rid of his Brahmahatti dosha by bathing. Giving alms and charity on the banks of this pond is more beneficial than going to the market. After bathing in the Narasimha Theertham or sprinkling the Theertham on your head, if you walk a few more steps, you will come to the steps of the mountain temple of the Lord Singha. How can I describe the wonderful scenes that you see when you climb the mountain with the grace of the Lord? The Periyamalai, which is 750 feet high and has 1305 steps, reaches the top of the mountain, worships the flagpole and enters. First, you should worship the auspicious Amritbalavalli Mother, the goddess of the festival. Arulmigu Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple, Sholingar - 631102, Ranipet District. A Nice hill top temple of Muruga with good parking facility. Went on a Saturday morning 7am and surprised to see zero crowd on Spl Entry. Free darshan will be crowded but manageable. Good toilet facilities available and Annadhanam is open for everyone.

Thiruthani is a peaceful and spiritually enriching place to visit. We waited a bit to see Lord Murugan, but the experience was well worth it. The temple has a serene atmosphere, and being in such a divine space brings a sense of calm and devotion. The views around the temple are also breathtaking, making it a great spot to connect with both nature and spirituality. It’s a must-visit for those seeking peace and a deeper connection with the divine.

My visit to Tiruttani Murugar Temple was one of the most peaceful and spiritual experiences I’ve had. It’s one of the Arupadai Veedu (six abodes) of Lord Murugan, and you can truly feel the divine presence the moment you reach the hill. The temple is located on a scenic hilltop, and the journey itself is refreshing — whether you climb the steps or drive up. The surroundings are calm, filled with devotion, and the air itself feels pure. Early morning darshan is especially beautiful when the temple bells ring and the chanting echoes through the hills. The view from the top is simply breathtaking — you can see the whole town and nearby hills covered in mist if you go early. The temple staff and priests are kind and manage the crowd smoothly. The place is well maintained and clean, which makes the whole experience even better. I felt truly blessed and peaceful after the darshan. There’s something special about this temple — a divine energy that fills your heart with positivity and strength. If you are a devotee of Lord Murugan or someone looking for spiritual calmness, Tiruttani is a must-visit. You’ll surely leave with a peaceful mind and a happy heart.
