Type MOUNAGIRI BRAMHAPEETAM KSHETHRAM to reach this temple using Google maps. Actually this is wrongly marked in maps and the temple is not present there , if you want to visit the temple don't take diversion as shown go from the opposite side where Hanuman statue near the national highway. The installation of Rama, Laxman and Seetha idols at the foot level is not suggested by sculptural text and he never consult any Sithapathi, it seems that. Not up to the Mark of the temple

This location is marked wrongly in Google maps. Don't follow the Google directions. Actual temple is more than two KM's from this spot entirely in opposite direction.

Mallela Thirtham Waterfall

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Scenic waterfall located in dense forest & accessed by a moderate hike with 300+ steps.
One of the best waterfalls. It flows in all the seasons. The place is very beautiful. One should take around 400 steps to reach the waterfalls. It is safe for all age groups and genders to visit the place as it is maintained by Telangana tourism. There is 20rs ticket for the entrance and 50 rs tool for the car.
Naveen V — Google review
A lovely weekend destination, you have to climb down 400 stairs down to get a glimpse of this lovely waterfall. I went in the month of Feb and hence there was not much water, however I am pretty sure that this place will be a delight during the monsoons. Once you reach to the waterfalls, be very careful when you move around the rocks as they are slippery and have sharp edges as well. Ensure you keep your belongings properly and secure as the monkeys out there will leave no stone unturned to surprise you when you come back. There are two entry fees - one at the check gate towards the road and the other once you reach the point - 20 rupees at each point per person. Ensure you carry one or two bottles of drinking water for sure because you won’t find any all the way down and you are definitely going to need at least one while coming back - the climb back to the top is steep.
Jyoti D — Google review
If you reach there as early as possible, you will have good availability to take nice picture. The waterfall is not that big enough for everyone to enjoy at the same time and take the picture simultaneously. So better go early morning. Take bath, the ticket is very cheap. Do not throw your garbage over there. Saw people leaving their unused garments atthe spot and making is the good spot to a dirty one.The maintainance already started so hopefully they will clean everything nearby and me the pond infront of the waterfall swim worthy.currenty it seems like mud.
Dhananjay K — Google review
One of the best waterfalls you can enjoy in the Nallamala Forest area. The place is peaceful covered in a dense Forest. Hiking is needed. There are around 400 steps you'll need to go down to reach the waterfalls. It's crowded almost all the time. Please carry a Face mask and some hand sanitiser with you. Stay safe. Bathing in the waterfalls isn't actually allowed as there may be possible accidents, but People can be seen taking baths. It's a bit dangerous and the officials should do something about it.
Teja T — Google review
Roughly 185 kms from mainland Hyderabad, the place makes for a good 1 day trip. The pristine drive through the Amrabad tiger reserve makes for something straight out of the movies!!! What awaits at the end is a steep walk down a staircase, roughly 400 steps down into the canyon. While small, it makes for a beautiful nature getaway from the daily routine of city life. You can click quite a good snaps if you're early avoiding the crowd. But do be careful, the stones are slippery and there's monkeys and snakes too. Recommended during the monsoon months. The ticket costs 20 bucks per head, and you might also run into a "toll booth", be careful of the latter.l
Ryan P — Google review
Hidden gem within deep Nallamala forest and perfect weekend getaway, which is located at about 160 km from Hyderabad. Lush green forest, journey through picturesque hills, pristine waters, chirping birds and sound of gushing water makes the experience memorable and blissful
Kamalasan V — Google review
Nice place to get refreshed and can enjoy the waterfalls There is enough parking place for mostly 25 four wheeler vehicles and nearly 30+ two wheelers parking space. After crossing the parking are there will be a shop for snacks, water bottles, refreshments etc. For entry to go near waterfalls, entry ticket costs Rs.20 per head 1 main to follow there is "No Littering" "Don't throw plastic waste" There are nearly 350steps to go near these waterfalls
Mokkapati M — Google review
This is around 150 km away from Hyderabad and it takes 3-4 hours to reach waterfall. This place is amazing for trekking experience. If you go as a tourist, then you just can visit the main waterfall but if you want to hike the forest then it will be a thrilling trek. One has to climb 400 stairs to see the main waterfall. Washrooms are available and a small garden is also there to relax. Food shops are not there so one should carry it.

Akkamahadevi caves

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Akkamahadevi caves are a must-visit in Srisailam, offering an adventurous experience. Accessible via motor boats from Srisailam's Pathala Ganga, the caves are located about 5 kilometers off the Hyderabad-Srisailam Road. Visitors can board a basket boat to reach the caves through a lush green river route. The journey takes about 4 hours round trip, with boat travel lasting around 1-1.5 hours.
This place is really fantastic. Never seen such caves formation anywhere else. Very unique and relaxed trip. The boat ride is really good. It takes approximately 2 hours boat ride to reach the caves. Must visit place if you are visiting Srisailam. Charges: ₹650/person. But it's totally worth
Vijay P — Google review
One of the must-visit places when you're in Srisailam. It's hard to describe the experience — from the moment the journey began, it was a visual treat with breathtaking views throughout. The caves are naturally formed and truly fantastic. The place is calm and peaceful.
Durga P — Google review
One of the historical place at Sreesailam. It is believed that the famous 12th century philosopher and lyricist from Karnataka, Akka Mahadevi did penance and offered prayers to a Shivalingam that was naturally existent deep inside the very same cave. The trip is being operated from pathalaganga by APTDC. you need to be there before 9.30 AM,First you had to take tickets for the ropeway and they will ask if you are going to akkamahadevi caves they will write your name and have to give how much members are accompanied with us. You will be taken to the river bank by rope way, from there we had to wait to take ticketst for boating towards the cave. Had to give adhar number & mobile number of the booking person there . Almost 10.30 they will allow to enter the boat.. It takes almost one hour journey through krishna river to reach the cave. During boat ride, we could enjoy the nature, green hills and river (Krishna). The guide is none other than the person who drives the boat and takes us inside the cave and briefs about the cave. You need to bend and crawl inside the cave as the height is short inside. You could see sacred Shiva Linga inside the caves as water drops from the top fells over the linga as it is considered as natural dhara (stream)and you could touch linga and pray. This is where akka mahadevi did her meditation to win over lord shiva. It takes almost a half day , so had to keep enough food & water .
Abhilash A — Google review
Great experience with the place and follow the instructions from the guide and visit the temple. Above 100kg or fatty persons are unable to go inside the cave because it is very small and unable to breathe if more than one person enters into it And try to avoid carrying the children's age below 4 yr's into the caves. Because they are unable to breathe inside the caves. Thank you.
Sai K — Google review
The journey to the caves is relaxing and scenic. The caves in themselves have an aura of stillness and calm. Have the darshana of the linga within. The mystic saint Akkamahadevi meditated at this spot and it's evident why. A must see if you visit Srisailam.
Prathibha R — Google review
The Akkamahadevi Caves' history is intertwined with the 12th-century saint and philosopher Akka Mahadevi, a prominent figure in the Veerashaiva Bhakti movement. The caves, located in the Nallamalai Hills of Kurnool, are believed to be where she performed penance and worshipped a naturally occurring Shivalingam deep within the main cave. While the caves are naturally formed and have ancient geological origins, their significance is rooted in this religious and spiritual connection to Akka Mahadevi. The Caves and Akka Mahadevi Akka Mahadevi: The 12th-century poet and philosopher, Akka Mahadevi, was a leader of the Veerashaiva Bhakti movement, a spiritual quest focused on devotion to Lord Shiva. Penance: According to legend, Akka Mahadevi performed deep meditation and penance in these very caves, worshipping a naturally formed Shivalingam. Spiritual Journey: The caves are located in Kadali, the area near Srisailam, where her spiritual journey culminated in her union with Shiva. Geological and Historical Significance Ancient Formation: The caves themselves are naturally formed rock caves, considered to be of prehistoric or even ancient age. Geographical Marvel: The main cave features a naturally formed, unsupported rock arch, a geological wonder that draws visitors. Location: They are situated in the Nallamalai Hills, near the upstream of the Krishna River, and are part of the Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve. Modern Day Pilgrimage Site: The caves are a significant pilgrimage destination, attracting tourists and devotees. Narrow Entrance: To reach the Shivalingam, visitors must enter a cramped, dark tunnel, sometimes requiring them to crawl, adding to the cave's unique experience. Forest Surroundings: The area is surrounded by a highly biodiverse forest, offering a rich ecological experience along with the spiritual one.

Ishtakameshwari Devi Temple is located deep inside the jungle. Tickets are limited, only 120 tickets are sold per day out of which 16 are sold online and rest offline at the Shikaram counter. These tickets are sold one day in advance. Jeeps take you from the Shikaram counter to the temple through a rough and bumpy jungle road. Thereafter a trek of around half kilometer will take you to the temple. The Goddess is very powerful for believers and one has to go inside a small tunnel to have darshan. The idol is magical and when one puts sindoor on the forehead, it feels as if the idol is alive. Wishes are said to be fulfilled if you pray with full devotion. The tribals who maintain the temple offer food to the devotees free of cost. The food is very tasty and you can donate towards this. The road is being developed and everyone can visit the temple.

Unforgettable experience. Sri Ishta Kameshwari Devi, believed to be a powerful Goddess inside Nallamala forest. Chenchu tribals worship the Goddess everyday and now a large number of pilgrims also mark their presence. Wonderful place but much disturbance to the forest now. This is the only temple of Ishtakameshwari devi Mata. Visited in 2020 with family, several times all alone and spotted wildlife there also. The idol of Devi maa is unique. And devotees are called by Devi Ma itself. She is a powerful Goddess. It is believed that all wishes are fulfilled if you visit the temple, and warship the Goddess whole-heartedly. This is approx 7km inside forest from the Srisailam Road.

Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam is a historic Hindu temple complex located on the Nallamala Hills, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples and holds significance in Hindu mythology. The temple, built in the 14th century, features intricate sculptures and a scenic location along the Krishna River.
I recently visited the Mallikarjun Jyotirling Temple in Srisailam, and it was a truly divine experience. The place has a strong spiritual energy — peaceful, well maintained, and beautifully surrounded by nature. I opted for the ₹300 Ati Shighra Darshan ticket, which was absolutely worth it. The queue moved smoothly, and I could have darshan comfortably without too much waiting time. The temple staff were helpful and guided everyone patiently, which made the whole process easy and respectful. One thing to remember — mobile phones and cameras are strictly not allowed inside the temple premises. You’ll need to keep them in the lockers provided before entering. Also, there’s a strict dress code here. Only decent traditional wear like pant and shirt, kurta-pyjama, or dhoti is allowed. Jeans, shorts, and torn clothes are not permitted, and the security staff are quite particular about it. The temple architecture is beautiful, and the vibe inside feels very pure and calming. If you plan to visit, go early in the morning or in the evening for a more peaceful experience. Overall, it’s a must-visit Jyotirling for anyone seeking a genuine spiritual experience amidst serene surroundings.

A truly divine and powerful temple! 🙏 Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and 18 Shakti Peethas, making it a rare and sacred place. The temple is beautifully maintained, clean, and well-organized for devotees. The spiritual energy here is beyond words — you can feel immense peace and positivity. The darshan arrangements are smooth, and the queue system is well-managed, especially during weekends and festivals. The surroundings are scenic with hills, forests, and fresh air — a perfect blend of spirituality and nature. Truly a must-visit for every devotee of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati! 🙏🕉️✨

A Divine Journey to Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple Visiting Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam is a truly divine experience. The journey itself is mesmerizing—winding roads through the lush Nallamala hills, misty views, and the sight of the majestic Srisailam Dam along the way make the trip unforgettable. As one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas, the temple radiates an aura of peace and devotion. The ancient architecture, powerful vibrations, and serene surroundings fill your heart with spiritual bliss. A perfect blend of nature, devotion, and timeless beauty—this is a place every devotee must experience at least once in their lifetime. 🙏✨

A truly divine and peaceful place surrounded by dense forest, offering breathtaking natural views. The temple radiates amazing energy and positive vibes of Lord Shiva. Morning darshan is especially serene and not too crowded. Visitors should wear simple traditional clothes or dhoti, as western wear is not allowed. There are good, budget-friendly dormitory stay options near the temple. Apart from the main shrine, you can explore scenic viewpoints, local markets, ropeway rides, and nearby holy sites like Sakshi Ganapati and Pathala Ganga, making it a spiritually and naturally enriching experience.

Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple – A Divine Dawn at Srisailam The experience of visiting **Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple** in the early morning hours is one that words can hardly capture. Nestled amidst the serene Nallamala hills, this ancient temple stands as one of the twelve *Jyotirlingas* dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the eighteen *Shakti Peethas* devoted to Goddess Parvati, in her form as *Bhramaramba Devi*. This sacred confluence of Shiva and Shakti makes Srisailam one of the most powerful spiritual centers in India, where devotion and divinity seem to flow through the very air. As you approach the temple at dawn, around **5:00 a.m.**, the atmosphere transforms into something truly mystical — the gentle hum of chants, the ringing of bells, and the fragrance of camphor and jasmine together create an aura that feels like the divine itself has awakened with the first light of day. Booking the **Alankara Darshanam ticket** in advance adds to the convenience and allows for a seamless experience of witnessing the Lord in his adorned form. The early morning hour is considered most auspicious, and as the temple doors open, the cool breeze carries a sense of sanctity that instantly calms the mind. The **darshanam**, though completed within **10 minutes**, leaves an impression that lasts far longer. The moment you stand before **Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy**, the *Jyotirlinga* radiates a tranquil glow, symbolizing the eternal presence of Shiva. The priests perform the *Alankaram* (decoration) with utmost devotion — adorned with flowers, sandal paste, and sacred ornaments, the deity exudes divine grace and energy. The quiet reverence among the devotees and the rhythmic sound of mantras make it an experience beyond material understanding — it feels as though the entire world has come to a standstill before the supreme power. Following this, the **darshan of Goddess Bhramaramba Devi** completes the journey of devotion. The sanctum of Ammavaru is filled with divine vibrations, her idol beautifully decorated with turmeric, kumkum, and flowers. Her eyes seem alive — radiating both compassion and strength. Sitting for a few moments in front of **Bhramaramba Devi**, one can feel a mother’s warmth and the goddess’s powerful energy blending into one. The sound of *Devi Stotras* being chanted by devotees enhances the experience, and you can sense the protective aura that surrounds the entire shrine. It’s said that a visit to Srisailam is incomplete without seeking the blessings of Ammavaru, for she is the very embodiment of Shakti that sustains the universe. After the darshan, taking a **peaceful walk around the temple premises** for an hour is in itself a form of meditation. The temple corridors, built in traditional Dravidian architecture, echo with ancient chants and stories of saints who once walked the same paths. The morning mist slowly lifting over the temple towers (gopurams) adds a divine glow to the surroundings. The sight of devotees circumambulating the temple barefoot, heads bowed in prayer, fills the heart with humility and gratitude. The rhythmic clang of bells, the faint sound of temple drums, and the occasional cry of distant birds together compose a symphony that quiets the mind completely. Sitting in one of the temple corners after the darshan — especially near the **Krishna River view or under the ancient Peepal tree** — is a deeply meditative experience. The early morning stillness, interrupted only by the soft chants and the rustling of leaves, allows your thoughts to dissolve into peace. Many devotees simply sit in silence, eyes closed, feeling the presence of the divine within. It’s in these moments that one realizes why Srisailam is regarded as a place of liberation (*Moksha Prapthi Kshetram*). The union of Lord Mallikarjuna and Goddess Bhramaramba symbolizes the balance of energy — *Shiva and Shakti*, *Silence and Sound*, *Peace and Power*.

The Shri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam is an incredibly powerful and must-visit pilgrimage site. It holds the rare and sacred distinction of being both one of the 12 Jyotirlingas (Lord Shiva) and one of the Ashta Dasha Shakti Peethas (Goddess Bhramaramba) located in the same complex. Also it is budget friendly trip. Lots of staying options are available near temple and by online booking you can get sparsh darshan.

The temple is truly a peaceful and divine place where one can feel positive energy and calmness. I always find a sense of inner peace here. However, the management needs serious improvement. The temple authorities and staff often behave rudely with devotees, which spoils the spiritual experience. There is no proper communication or announcement regarding temple closing times, leaving visitors confused and disappointed. Also, the Sparsh Darshan tickets are available only through the official online site, but the website is poorly designed and often doesn’t work properly. It would be much better if the temple management focused on improving the online system and showing more respect and hospitality towards devotees.

The only Shrine in India with Both the Jyothirlingam and Shakti Peetham located with in the same Pranganam of the Temple. One of the most powerful temples in India. Srisailam has a good connectivity by Bus from major cities of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. If by Train, the nearest Stations are Markapur Road/ Nandyala. Depsite being the Shakti Peetham and Jyothirlingam, temple won't be much crowded as it is in the interior part of the State. Can expect more crowd during Special Occasions and on weekends. We visited in the Karthika Maasam and on weekend. It took 1hr for us for Darshanam. Crowd increases from morning to evening. Plan to reach temple premises by night or in the morning as the Ghat road will be closed midnight as it is forest area. Lot number of Hotels/ Satram's/ Dharamshala's will be there near Shrine. Please note that Sparsha Darshanam will only be there on weekdays and can be booked online. Have a beautiful Stay!

Paladhara-Panchadhara

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Bustling area visited regularly by pilgrims, offering 2 waterfalls that are said to taste sweet.
It's a nice place of waterfall. Paladhara‑Panchadara is a natural stream‑waterfall spot located about 4 km from Srisailam. It was in a narrow valley, with lush forest surroundings, and has several small waterfalls. Paladhara means a stream from the forehead of Lord Shiva, Panchadhara refers to five streams of Shiva. The legendary sage‑philosopher Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have meditated here in the 8th century, and to have composed devotional works like Sivanandalahari and Bhramaramba Ashtaka in this location. Statues of Adi Shankaracharya and Sarada Devi are installed here. Getting there involves about 150‑160 steps from the entry point down to the streams. Can get busy, especially during peak pilgrimage season or good weather times of rainy season, early morning is recommended to avoid rush and enjoy more peacefully. Paladhara‑Panchadara offers a mix of scenic beauty, spiritual atmosphere, and mild adventure. It’s not a high‑adrenaline place, but more for relaxation, reflection, enjoying nature, taking in rustic waterfalls, and visiting a site with historical mythological importance. For those who like nature and history, it’s highly rewarding. For those who prefer more comfort, more amenities, or no physical challenges, some parts may be inconvenient.

*A Seasonal Delight* This spot is truly breathtaking during the rainy season, with water flowing beautifully. However, during dry seasons, the water flow can be minimal or even nonexistent. *Visiting Tips* - Plan your visit according to the season if you want to see the spot in its full glory. - Parking is available on the roads. - Note that washroom facilities are not available. Excellent Nandi temple. No. 7 in the list of Nava Nandi temples of Nandyala area. No. 8 Vinayaka Nandi is inside temple complex only. Only flaw is the temple administration who are trying to lead devotees to fraud practices of purchasing entry ticket 50₹ -100₹ for Seeghra darshan and 150₹ for Sparsha darshan to enter stating long queue, waiting time, darshan time of 1hr or so and buy Seeghra darshan tickets for fast entry etc when the queue is manageable, entry and darshan doesn't take much time etc. Parking for car costs 80₹ but no proper rules regulations noone to safeguard or check or follow rules. Male and Female pushkarini for people to bathe and see the lord.

The temple is unique and cannot be found at any other place. The main Lingam in the temple is a mole hill. One can have Sparsha Darshan in this temple by touching the main deity. The architecture in the temple is to be seen to believe especially of the Goddess Saraswathi and Lord Vishnu in the ceiling. A little more interest in keeping the premises clean would definitely make this place beautiful.

Mahanandi is one of the Nava nandi (nine) temple. Its very old and historical temple backs 1500 years of history. The main deity is Mahanandeeshwara (Shiva). The initial structure was done by Badami chalukyas and later renovated by many kingdoms. Mahanandi is famous for its fresh water pool called pushkarini, the water is clister clear and many people come here for bath. This temple is 20km from Nandyala and for accomidation you can find many hotels outside the temple.

The temple is very beautiful and the entire area is very clean. But outside this temple it is written as free darshan but once inside they charge Rs 50 pp and the management of this temple is very rude in their dealings with the devotees and the language they speak is not good. They only see money in devotees.

Temple environment is very refreshing and peaceful, good place for lord Shiva devotees. Temple devasthanam is maintaining cleanliness and healthy environment. Need to appreciate on that. But few priests became commercial as they are expecting high dakshina. I guess Devasthanam is already paying good salary to Garbagruha priest but still he is expecting/demanding huge dakshina from devotees. All devotees may not be capable enough to offer as per priest expectation which makes him disappointed/grimble and it's not a good sign. Few Priests expectations are increasing day by day.

Orvakallu Rock Gardens is a sprawling 1000-acre park that boasts of unique rock formations, ponds and a cave museum. It offers picturesque hiking trails that are popular among visitors who come here to take photographs. However, entry fees need to be paid and there have been reports of alcohol bottles found in the area which should not be allowed in public spaces. Additionally, visitors have noted a lack of proper maintenance with littered bottles strewn about and names etched on the rocks.
A beautiful natural formation located near the Kurnool Airport near the town of Orvakal. During cloudy days or in the evenings, one can peacefully enjoy the beautiful and ancient unique rock formations and canyon like features and boulders present in the area. There’s some parking available as well as basic food and washrooms but they aren’t that great. It’s good for a quick visit on the Rayalaseema Expressway between Kurnool and Tirupati or Chittoor. However, one must be vigilant of the drop into the canyon, as well as monkeys which can sometimes steal food or other items from visitors.

Beautiful, beautiful temple in a beautiful place. The trek was nice and adventurous. Not very tough . Lovely walking through the streams . Few steps to climb and have to go below a waterfall to reach the temple. Small temple attached to a cliff. Beautiful view all along. The path to reach back has a lot of stairs. We saw few people coming back in the same path as climbing up as this path is walking in the stream.

Ahobilam trekking is a unique and spiritually enriching experience in Andhra Pradesh, India, especially for those interested in a blend of nature, adventure, and devotion. Here's a detailed review: ⭐ Ahobilam Trekking Review 📍 Location Ahobilam is located in the Nallamala Hills of the Eastern Ghats, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. It's famous for being the abode of Lord Narasimha, with 9 shrines (Nava Narasimha) scattered across the forested hills. 🥾 Trekking Experience 🔹 Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging The lower shrines (like Prahlada Varadan and Yogananda Narasimha) are easily accessible. The upper shrines (like Jwala, Ugra, and Malola Narasimha) involve steep climbs, rocky paths, and some slippery sections in the monsoon.

Moolavar : Sri Jwala Narasimha Thayar : Sri Chenchu Lakshmi Some the salient features of this temple are… The temple is also a Cave temple faces east with a built up mukha mandapam. Stucco image of Narasuimhar and Prahalad are on the top of the mukha mandapam. The shrine appears to be a natural cave. The temple of Jwala Narasimha, lies higher up the Malola temple, on a hill called ‘Achalachaya Meru’. This place is said to be the actual spot where the ferocity or anger of the Lord reached its acme when he tore Hiranyakasipu. It is some what difficult to reach this place as we have to pass through a narrow passage made by cutting and chiselling the rocks of the peak on one side, while to the other side of this passage there is a very deep valley. One has to walk very carefully. It is told that the spot where Jwala Narasimha is sitting with Hiranyakasipu on his lap, is the threshold of the main entrance door of the spacious palace of Hiranyakasipu. Cleaving one of the pillars of the demon’s palace, Narasimha manifested himself. The part of this pillar standing erect has the shape of a lofty hill. This vertical hilly pillar is called Achalachayameru. The cleaven side of the standing part is straight and at right angles to the foot part of it. On the precipice of this peak, there are three steel posts erected. On the surface of these steel posts, the names of the devotees erecting them are engraved. It is generally believed that after slaying Hiranyakasipu, Narasimha looked very frightful. To pacify him, Indra and other gods poured suraganga water (celestial Ganges) on his head which flowed down as a stream into the nearby valley and the latter turned into a river called Bhavanasini. In front of this shrine, there is a small pond below a fully open cave. The water of this pond is reddish. The colour of the water is said to be due to Narasimha’s washing his hands here after tearing the abdomen of Hiranyakasipu. There are three idols in the shrine, a. Ashtabuja Narasimha b. Chaturbuja Narasimha, and c. Narasimha chasing Hiranyakasipu. a. Ashtabhuja Narasimha… The main deity seated at the centre is with eight arms. He is seated on a Garudapeeda and a small image of Prahlada is placed to the left of Narasimha, standing with folded hands/ Anjali hastam. The sculpture suggests massive energy and vigorous action. The first pair of hands catches hold of Hiranyakashipu’s crown and renders him motionless, while the other pair by tightly gripping the sword - carrying hand of Hiranyakashipu, completely disarms and overpowers him. The second pair of hands is engaged in tearing open the entrails of the demon lying on the folded right leg of the God. The third pair of hands hold Sankha and Chakra and fourth pair holds the intestine of the demon in the shape of a garland. A prabhavali with kirtimukha is carved in the same stone. Stylistically this image goes back to the early Vijayanagara period. b. Chaturbhuja Narasimha… This image is depicted in the standing posture coming out of the pillar (Stambhodbhava-murti). This is said to represent the Kevala Narasimha form. This is a very rare form and appears to be earlier. Narasimhar has four hands, the two upper hands holding chakra and shankha and the lower hands are depicted downwards as though he is tearing the demon. But peculiarly the demon is not depicted. Lakshmi is seated to the right and Prahlada stands to the left and the god is adorned with Karandamakuta. Stylistically this image appears to be earlier than the above and may belong to the 7th-8th century A.D. c. Narasimha chasing the Hiranyakashipu… The third image depicts Narasimha as advancing towards Hiranyakashipu from the right, as the latter is approaching in a defiant attitude, with his sword lifted up to strike. Narasimha is made to take hold of the body of Hiranyakasipu so as to overpower him. Moreover the right hand of Narasimha is held up as if he is going to deal a blow to the enemy with the open palm of the hand.

Maintenance good. Go by early morning. For elderly people, doli is available at a cost. Cellphone no towers deep in the forest. Sree Ahobilam Narasimha Swamy Stotram "Hiranya Sthambha Sambhuthim Prakhyaatha Paramaathmane Prahladaarthumushe Jwala Narasimhaaya Mangalam" Meaning of the Sloka Hails to the Paramathma (Supreme soul) Sri Jwala Narasimha who had come out of the pillar and removed the sorrows of Bhakta Prahlada. 1. Sri Jwala Narasimha Swamy is seated on a Garuda Peetham with eight hands holding Shankha and Chakra in the upper two hands. 2. He is holding Hiranyakasipu on his lap with two hands. 3. He is tearing the stomach of Hiranyakasipu with two hands and wearing his intestines as a garland with two other hands. 4. This Kshetram also removes the difficulties of drought and unseasonal rains. Jwala Narasimha Swamy Temple is one of the nine Narsimha temples in Ahobilam. This Temple is located at about 4 Kms from the Upper Ahobilam Temple, on a hill called, 'Achala Chaya Meru'. One has to go under the waterfall of the Bhavanasini River to reach this temple. It is believed that the entire area of Ahobilam was actually Hiranyakasipu’s palace and it was at the spot where the temple stood that Lord Narasimha actually killed the Hiranyakasipu. Jwala means flame and this is where Lord Narasimha was at the peak of his anger. There is a small pond near this temple called Rakta Kunda Tirtha. Here Lord Narasimha washed his blood-stained hands and hence the color of the water of this Kunda turned red. The planet name is Kuja.

Yaganti Temple is a 15th-century Hindu temple renowned for its intricate stonework and surrounding rock formations. The temple complex consists of three caves, including one dedicated to Lord Shiva, which requires ascending a few steps to reach. The interior of the Shiva temple exudes vitality and color, inviting visitors to linger awhile. Local shops are available outside the temple, situated amidst rocky hills and ruins.
Yaganti Temple is truly a beautiful and divine place. Surrounded by stunning rock formations and peaceful natural scenery, the temple has a unique charm you won't find anywhere else. The ancient architecture, the growing Nandi statue, and the calm caves around make the experience feel spiritual and magical. It's not just a temple, but a perfect blend of nature, history, and devotion. A must-visit if you're looking for beauty and peace together.

You will be amazed to see such a temple ! I'm blessed to visit this temple, where we can witness amazing architecture, and nandi, which is growing year on year. Also the Venkateswara temple next to this, is also great.

Yaganti is located about 80 kms off the NH near Kurnool. The Uma Maheswara Temple is built by the Vijayanagara Kings in the 16th century. The place is surrounded by hills and is surreal. The drive takes you through hills and ravines and is an adventure in itself... worth the drive. We really enjoyed the beauty of the place and its history... legend says that Sage Bramha and Sage Agastya meditated in the caves surrounding the Temple. A must visit with family to understand our Rich culture and history.

Excellent temple, No crow is to be seen with in the premises as cursed by the great sage Agastya muni. 3 caves for Agastya muni, Venkateshwara swamy and Vishnu cave which needs some effort to climb all the stairs. Basavanna seems to be growing inch by inch as prophesised by Srimadvirat Pothuluri veera bhramendra swamy varu.

A wonderful ancient temple where you feel the vibe. The temple pond is there to chill before darshan. The caves were very cool even during the mid hot day.

Yaganti temple is very old and historical temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Inside the Garbhagruha, if closely observed, you can see both Uma (Parvathi) and Maheswara (Shiva) images on Lingam, thats why the name Uma Maheswara. We can touch the Lingam if we take special ticket for abhishekam and perform the abhishekam with our own hands. Inside the temple is very calm and peaceful, we can even do the meditation. There is a water pond inside the temple where the water flow continuously, not sure where it comes from. The main attraction of the temple is the Basavanna (Bull), who is growing every year. There are many historical caves around this temple, Dont miss to visit them.

Belum Caves

Mentioned on
1 list
Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Belum Caves, located on the Indian subcontinent, offers a remarkable experience with its vast underground cave system adorned with geological formations and artificial lighting. The site boasts the largest and longest cave system open to the public in India, featuring long passages, galleries and spacious caverns that occasionally contain fresh water. Visitors are advised to bring a torch or headlamp for better visibility as sticky mud may cause footwear loss. Additionally, one should carry water bottles due to stuffiness inside causing excessive sweating.
Amazing natural wonder not to be missed. Best part is the good maintenance and upkeep of the caves that is focused on the visitor. The lighting is very apt so that the paths are visible and does not take away the cave exploration experience that too much lighting might have done. The colorful lights add to the ambience of the cave system. The paths are clearly indicated with signs at appropriate locations. The huge entrance, numerable pathways, stalagmites formations, the spring at the depth of 151 feet is a must visit. Ample parking space, toilets and a cafe are other useful facilities at the location.

Visited Belum Caves, and it was an incredible experience! These natural limestone caves are truly a hidden gem in Andhra Pradesh. The formations inside are absolutely fascinating — from the "Thousand Hoods" to the Musical Chamber, every part of the cave had something unique to offer. One of my favorite spots was the Meditation Hall, which gave a peaceful and almost spiritual vibe. Walking through the long, winding passages felt like stepping back in time. The Patalaganga stream deep inside the cave was another highlight — it's amazing how water still flows there! The temperature inside was a bit warm and humid, so it’s best to wear light clothes and carry water. I also appreciated how well-maintained the place was, with guides and signboards helping visitors understand the cave’s history and geology. If you love nature, adventure, or just want to explore something offbeat, I highly recommend visiting Belum Caves. It’s one of those places that make you appreciate how mysterious and powerful nature can be.
TARLAPALLY M — Google review
This is known to be the second largest cave, and it's truly a remarkable place to visit if you enjoy exploring natural wonders. Parking is available for a fee, and the site is fairly well-managed. Inside the cave, the formations are stunning, but be prepared for a long walk. The path can be slippery and muddy in parts in some areas, the mud can even cover half your leg, so wear appropriate footwear and tread carefully. It's also hot and humid inside, which adds to the sense of adventure. The entry and exit are through the same point, and you're free to click as many photos as you'd like. There’s also a professional photographer available inside if you're interested in getting a photo taken. Some parts of the cave are well-lit, while a few sections are slightly dark, adding to the cave's natural mystery. I personally loved the experience. A must-visit for cave enthusiasts and adventure seekers!
Chindu M — Google review
Belum Caves is undoubtedly one of India’s most fascinating natural wonders — a long stretch of underground limestone formations that really show how incredible nature can be. However, the experience itself leaves a lot to be desired in terms of management and basic facilities. First and foremost, carry sufficient cash for your tickets and small expenses. The online network here is extremely poor, and most of the time, the QR or digital payment systems simply don’t work. Many visitors are left struggling at the counter trying to make UPI payments that don’t go through. Once inside, there’s drinking water available, which is good because you’ll need it — the cave is very humid and warm as you go deeper inside. It can get quite uncomfortable after a while, so wearing light clothes and good footwear helps. You’ll also notice quite a few bats in some sections — they don’t really bother you, but it can be unsettling for some visitors. Sadly, the signage inside the caves is minimal and confusing. There are long stretches without any clear direction or information, so you’re often left guessing which way to go or what you’re looking at. To make things worse, no guides are available, which is a real disappointment because a place this unique deserves proper storytelling and supervision. Facilities outside are in poor shape — there are no functioning toilets, and the nearby restaurant has been closed for some time. AP Tourism really needs to step up its management here, as the infrastructure is not up to the mark for what could easily be a top-tier tourist attraction. The surroundings are quite empty, with very few visitors, which gives it a deserted feel. On the way from the parking area to the ticketing counter, you’ll also find a few beggars, which is unfortunate and adds to the sense of neglect. Overall, while the caves themselves are extraordinary and worth seeing once for their sheer natural beauty and geological importance, the poor upkeep, lack of amenities, and absence of guidance make it a place you visit more for curiosity than comfort. With better management, Belum Caves could truly shine as one of Andhra Pradesh’s best natural attractions — but as of now, go prepared, go patient, and definitely go with cash in hand.

Very good experience. All family members enjoyed it. Government is maintaining it well. Lights and fans are kept in good spots so that there is a balance of natural and comfort while exploring the caves. But, many visitors are spoiling it by throwing empty water bottles and footwear everywhere. Plan to go in shorts as there is a lot of clay mud on the way and should walk without any footwear (maybe this depends on the weather when you go).

Belum Caves are a breathtaking natural wonder, offering an unforgettable adventure experience. Located in Andhra Pradesh, these caves are the second-largest in the Indian subcontinent, stretching over 3,229 meters in length and 120 meters in depth. The caves feature stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations, spacious chambers, and ancient carvings of Lord Buddha and Jain saints. Marvel at the unique stalactite and stalagmite structures, including the mesmerizing 16-row maze and the Saptasvarala Guha, a musical chamber where limestone formations produce musical sounds when tapped. Discover remnants of ancient civilizations, including Buddhist and Jain monks who occupied the caves centuries ago. The Archaeological Survey of India has found evidence of human habitation dating back to 4500 BC.Explore the labyrinthine passages, galleries, and caverns, and venture into the depths of the caves, including the Patalganga, a perennial underground stream. Plan your visit during the light summer season (July to September) to avoid extreme temperatures. carry water, and avoid visiting during rainy seasons when the caves can be muddy and slippery.
Adhipa R — Google review
The geological formations are truly unique. Inside the caves, it can get very hot and humid, so it’s best to be prepared. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to explore the caves fully. After the visit, you can rest outside—there are proper seating arrangements and shaded areas under trees, which offer a nice break. There’s also a small snack outlet nearby. And yes, the deeper sections of the cave can feel a little scary—but that just adds to the adventure! Entry is ticketed, and there’s ample parking space available. The restroom facilities were good, and the lady managing them kindly helped us store our luggage. While food options nearby are limited, you can find a few small outlets along the way. They've made a lot of things in terms of ventilation and lighting, but many of these systems are now malfunctioning or have completely broken down due to prolonged neglect and lack of maintenance.

Best place to visit. If you can't go to grand canyon U.S.A you can visit here. Have a great history. The fort have seen many battles. Best time to visit is morning 🌄 6:00 and evening 🌇 sunset.

The Grand Canyon of India, often referred to as Gandikota, is truly one of the country’s hidden gems. Located in Andhra Pradesh, this stunning gorge carved by the Penna River offers breathtaking views that immediately remind you of its namesake in the United States. The vast expanse of rocky cliffs, deep valleys, and winding river below makes it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers alike. One of the best things about Gandikota is the lack of heavy crowds. Unlike many popular tourist spots in India, you can actually enjoy the peace and quiet here, which makes the experience far more special. It is also an excellent place for small hikes. Walking along the rugged terrain and climbing up the rocks gives you plenty of vantage points to admire the sunrise, which is absolutely magical. Watching the first light spread over the canyon is an unforgettable sight. However, visitors should know that there are no facilities, shops, or staff to assist here. It’s very raw and untouched, so carrying your own food and water is essential. Despite this, Gandikota is a must-visit destination if you love natural beauty, adventure, and a serene escape away from the usual tourist hustle.
Insane F — Google review
I recently had the chance to visit Gandikota, and it's truly a place that lives up to its nickname — The Grand Canyon of India. The natural gorge carved by the Pennar River is breathtaking, especially at sunrise or sunset. What I Loved: The scenic views from the cliff are unforgettable – perfect for photography and just soaking in nature. Exploring the Gandikota Fort, with its ancient temples, granary, and mosque, gives a strong sense of history. It's still relatively less commercialized, so you get a raw, untouched vibe. What Could Be Better: Parking can be really difficult during the crowded season. The area gets packed, especially on weekends and holidays, and there’s limited space for vehicles. If you're driving, arrive early to find decent parking. There aren't many food or rest stop options nearby, so it's a good idea to carry your own snacks and water. Accommodation is limited, with Haritha Resort being the main stay option, so book in advance or stay at jammalamadugu as its only 20kms from it Tips: Best time to visit is from October to February when the weather is pleasant. Wear good shoes if you plan to explore the rocks and fort — some paths are uneven. Plan ahead if you’re visiting during peak season, especially regarding parking and crowds. Old temple will close at 5:00pm evening please visit accordingly

Definitely must visit spot once in your life, but be sure to check the weather before planning your travel dates as it is very hot some days which makes it very difficult to explore places. Check for cloudy days and plan accordingly. Fort, masjid, temple view points everything is worth watching. Sunrise and sunsets are best. Dont go for tents as it is not allowed near the cliff. The tents are set up in the resort premises which is not comfortable and no aeration. Best to get a AC room.

The best experience of our trip was visiting this place. Had a wonderful time climbing the rocks and posing on the top will make you feel like you r on the top of the world, blissfull to watch the geographical wonder. You can have boating, few old temples to visit at the same place. Be careful while climbing the rocks. Be cautious about heavy winds.
Vivek P — Google review
Visited at the end of July 2025 – The place is truly beautiful, offering stunning views of the canyon. However, camping near the ridges is now banned, so you’ll need to find a nearby stay. Rooms are available but can be a bit on the expensive side. Sadly, the charm of the location is affected by litter—plastic waste and garbage left behind by visitors. The sight of names painted or written on the rocks further spoils the aesthetics, making it feel like the place is slowly losing its pristine appeal. Besides the canyon view, the fort is worth exploring. If you choose to stay overnight, you can experience both a breathtaking sunrise and a magical sunset—easily the highlights of the trip.

Gandikota, often called the Grand Canyon of India, is a hidden gem in Andhra Pradesh that surprises every traveler with its breathtaking landscapes. Located near the Pennar River, this small village holds one of the most dramatic gorges in South India, carved naturally by the river flowing through massive red rocks. Visiting Gandikota feels like stepping into another world. The first thing that catches your eye is the vast canyon views endless rocky cliffs, deep valleys, and the shimmering river below. The sunrise and sunset here are truly magical; the golden light reflecting off the stone walls creates an unforgettable sight. Most visitors describe the place as peaceful and untouched. It’s not overly crowded, making it perfect for photography, drone shots, or just relaxing in silence with nature. The fort nearby adds a touch of history, with ancient structures like the Ranganatha Swamy Temple and the Jamia Masjid still standing proudly inside. However, it’s good to know that amenities are limited, so carrying your own water, snacks, and basic supplies is recommended. The roads are decent, and the drive itself through rural landscapes adds to the adventure. Camping near the canyon edge is a highlight for many. Nights are calm, with a star-filled sky and cool breeze, ideal for those who love quiet getaways. Best for: Nature lovers, photographers, trekkers, campers, and road trip enthusiasts. Visitor Information: Location: Gandikota village, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh Restaurants: Limited food stalls available. Specially in night time. Only one restaurants serving food. all other was closed in night. Nearest Town: Jammalamadugu (around 15 km away) How to Reach: - By Road: Easily accessible from Bengaluru (~280 km), Anantapur (~100 km), or Kadapa (~80 km). - By Train: Nearest station is Muddanuru, around 25 km away. - By Air: Closest airport is at Kadapa. Best Time to Visit: October to February, pleasant weather, ideal for sightseeing and camping. Summers can be very hot. Entry Fee for Gandikota: 30rs for Adult & 20Rs for Kids on Weekends. Entry Fee for Fort and Viewpoints: Free Parking: Limited Free Parking available near viewpoints. Timings: Open all day, but early morning and evening are best for views and photography. Nearby Attractions: - Belum Caves – A natural wonder with underground passages and chambers. - Yaganti Temple – Famous for its growing Nandi statue. - Mylavaram Dam – Great spot for a short visit and boating. Travel Tip: Carry enough water, sunscreen, and wear comfortable shoes. Mobile networks can be weak near the canyon, so plan ahead. Improvement needed on: - Poor maintenance / neglected infrastructure - Poor maintenance of Fort, Temples and other Ancient structures - Limited facilities, food & lodging issues.

Truly an amazing experience to visit such an old temple. We visited this temple after we were on our way to Tadipatri station from belum cave. This old temple sits right at the bank of the Penna river. The temple sculptures and carvings just took our breath away. The temple is well maintained by the locals though but the intricate carvings done in the 14 centuries still tells us the stories of the past. It took us around an hr or hr and a half to see the entire complex and admire the beauty. The pillars of the temple are musical which makes us wonder about the works done by the artists. This temple is a classic example of Vijayanagara architecture with intricate carvings, finely sculpted pillars and beautiful mandapas. Must visit temple atleast once in a lifetime. Since this temple is situated in a village , please respect their culture and wear decent clothes to the temple.

This beautiful temple located in Tadipatri, AP on the bank of river Penna dates at least 6 centuries back and is around 60 Kms from Anantapur. The journey time from Anantapur is an hour and a half, but could take more because of the construction works being done on the highways. The temple is full of very wonderfully sculpted mandaps and pillars. The Lord here is called Ramalingeshwara, having been worshipped by Rama. There is a shrine for Vishnu also and for pillars here produce Sapta Swaras when tapped, like the ones you find in Madurai Meenakshi temple. The temple is on quite a wide area of space with a big Nandi before the entrance. There is only a half finished structure at the start of the temple resembling the protective walls of a fort. As you cross it, you are greeted with magnificent Gopurams. The walls are full of sculptures describing the events of Ramayana and Mahabharata. A very peaceful and serene atmosphere prevails in the temple and priests are very kind allowing you to have your darshan as long as you wish, provided you do not obstruct any one's way,. There is Chintala Venkatramana temple, equally beautiful, just a km or so away from this one. If you have any chance of going to Anantapur do not miss these two. Om Nama Shivaya |

The Temple was built during the reign of Vijayanagara empire in mid 16th Century by Pemmasani Timmanayudu II, a contemporary of Vira Narasimharaya and Krishnadevaraya. Timmanayudu built this temple after Vishnu is said to have told Timmanayudu in a dream that a temple should be constructed for him at Tadipatri. Timmanayudu appointed two archakas and a chief-priest, and he gifted lands to the temple. The Chintalarayaswamy Temple is considered one of the finest examples of Vijayanagara architecture. The initial structure may belong to the Saluva dynasty, but the entrance towers belongs to the Tuluva dynasty. The temple was built in the Dravidian style. According to locals, the presiding deity Venkateswara was found in the Tamarind (Telugu: Chinta) tree and hence got the name Chintala Venkataramana. Chintalarayaswamy Temple or Sri Chintala Venkataramana Temple is a Hindu Vaishnavite temple situated at Tadipatri, a town in the Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh, India. The temple has granite sculptures and is classified as one of the Monuments of National Importance by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Sathyabhama Temple Also called ‘Sathyamma Temple’, this is a temple dedicated to the worship of Mother Sathyabhama, the divine consort of Lord Krishna. This is a unique temple because seldom in any part of India is this type of homage offered to Mother Sathyabhama. It was built by the pious Sri Ratnakaram Kondama Raju (the Bhagawan’s paternal grandfather) and in explanation of this unusual tribute to Sathyabhama, he said that he was persuaded to erect the temple, by events that occurred during a strange dream! The Dream: In the dream, Kondama Raju saw Sathyabhama, alone, expectant and forlorn, waiting anxiously for her lord, who had gone on an errand to bring her the much-coveted ‘Parijatha’ flowers. The minutes increased to hours and the hours accumulated into days but still there was no sign of Lord Krishna! So, Sathyabhama broke into tears. There ensued a huge storm accompanied by thunder, lightning and a heavy shower of rain. Luckily, Her eyes fell on Kondama Raju who was passing across the place where she stood and she asked him to provide some shelter. This led to the determination of Sri Kondama Raju to raise a temple for the Consort of the Lord.

Sathyamma Temple is only temple in the world for Devi Sathya Bhama wife of Sri Krishna. Background Story about this temple. Once Kondama Raju Grand Father of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba had a Vision when he was in deep trance. He saw on a rainy night a beautiful goddess dressed as queen was standing on a street without any shade or umbrella. Kondoma Raju went closed to her with folded hand and asked "Who are you mother ? and Why you are standing here drenched with rain water ?" She then reply "I am Sathya Bhama wife and queen of Sri Krishna. I have no place to stay. All the temples of Krishna has either Radha or Rukmni here. Dear son, would you build a house for me ?" Kondama Raju reply her in affirmation. Then he build this temple. later all got to know why she wanted her house to be build in puttparhti only. She was knowing that Lord Krishna will reincarnate as Sri Sathya Sai Baba and she will have His company too. Do visit this temple. Now this temple has two status of Sathya Bhama called Sathyamma. One in form of Goddess is white and other is Back. This represent the dual nature of world. The Goddess in Back will take away your Bad qualities and the Goddess in White will grant you good qualities.

Compound area and temple is really peaceful and neatly kept, however they don't allocate rooms to single devotees and the dorms are not different for men and women, it is common and no bedding is provided. Also, way too dirty. Food is fine but ofcourse chargeable.

*Om Sri Sai Ram* Hey hi guys, This is Prasanth Gupta ( Instagram I'd :- @Solo_travelleer ). --> The word prashanthi means peace. --> One of the most peaceful places on the earth. --> One of the largest places for meditation. --> the place came by the Saint Satya Sai Baba.

Prashanthi Nilayam is the main ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, meaning "Abode of the Highest Peace". It is a spiritual center with a main ashram, Sai Kulwant Hall, residential complexes, and allied institutions, attracting thousands of spiritual seekers globally. A "5 marks" topic likely refers to a short answer question on its purpose, location, and significance, focusing on its role as a spiritual headquarters and destination for devotees.

Intereating place, but the ride was very beautiful. They are trying to revive aome temples here. Once they do it, i guess there will be a lot more to learn and understand about thw hoatory of this place. Juat riding to thia place on bikes (or car) is a pleasure. Combine lepakahi and penukonda fort and you ga e a great 1 day outing from bangalore or anantapur. To go to the actual fort, you need to walk a bit. But i understand that there is a road being done soon.
Raghunandan D — Google review
Penukonda is a great spot for a peaceful ride and exploration. The road to the fort is scenic, especially if you're riding a bike — smooth stretches with beautiful views along the way. The fort itself has an old-world charm, though it’s not very well maintained in some areas. Still, it's worth a visit if you're into history or just want a break from the city. Less crowded and calm, which adds to the overall experience. Not many shops or facilities nearby, so carry water and snacks if you're planning to stay for a while.
Bharath S — Google review
It's a nice twisty road to the top but the fort is in shambles and there is nothing much to do there. If the weather is pleasent it would be good for some photos else it will be hot and there isn't much shade either
Vasanth K — Google review
A great weekend gateway. The places is better visited on bike than a car, and its mostly about the last 2 kms of curvy roads. Athere is a small temple at the top and we can roam around over rocks there which gives a great sense of exploration.

Pennukonda Fort AKA The bikers paradise is truly an amazing experience, the roads are state of the art and the curves are mesmerizing. Been here couple of times and I can assure you all my rides here have been amazing. Absolutely love this place its truly an incredible experience. If your a biker looking for a weekend ride this is the place to ride to.

Had an amazing ride to Penukonda Fort, and it was worth every kilometer! The roads are smooth with minimal traffic, making it a peaceful ride surrounded by hills and small villages. As you approach Penukonda, the fort emerges beautifully against the sky, giving a perfect vibe for history lovers and riders. The climb to the fort is a bit steep, but the views from the top are stunning, overlooking the town and surrounding hills. You’ll find ancient gateways, ruined temples, and peaceful spots to sit and soak in the breeze. It’s not crowded, so you get your own quiet time with nature and history. Highly recommend carrying water, wearing shoes for the climb, and starting early morning to enjoy sunrise views. Perfect for a one-day ride from Bangalore if you want a mix of history, adventure, and peace. 📸✨ Will definitely visit again to explore the hidden spots I missed this time!
