Mount Bromo, located in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java Province, is a picturesque volcano with a stairway leading to its crater. To reach Mount Bromo, visitors can travel overland from Probolinggo to Cemoro Lawang and then hire a Jeep Hardtop to explore the seas of sand and the crater. The mountain is renowned for its stunning sunrise views, which can be enjoyed from the top of Penanjakan.
Very beautiful and grand. The sunrise is beautiful. Not really hard journey to go up. Driver driving jeep for most is the route. Bottom of the Mountain Bromo is with a lot of volcano ashes, better to wear a musk, even though guide says no.
Skye C — Google review
Would recommend doing it in the afternoon around 2-3 pm, we used the villagers’ path to avoid the park entrance fee. The hike down the path was slightly slopey, but once you reach the sea of sand it is all flat and sandy it’s a fairly easy walk.
Korrine K — Google review
Visiting Mount Bromo was one of the most breathtaking experiences of my life. The journey started early before dawn the air was cold, the stars still shining, and the excitement building with every step. As the sky slowly turned from deep blue to shades of pink and gold, the view of Bromo’s smoky crater appeared, surrounded by rolling hills and mist. It felt unreal, like standing on another planet. Watching the sunrise from the viewpoint was pure magic — the sun peeked over the horizon, lighting up the sea of clouds and painting the volcano in gold. The wind was cold, but the moment was warm with awe and peace. Every second felt worth the early wake-up and the climb. Mount Bromo isn’t just a place you visit it’s an experience you feel. The sound of the wind, the smell of sulfur, the endless view of nature’s power and beauty truly legendary. 🌋✨

no words, only emotions...We started early from Surabaya, then continued by jeep through the misty Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The highlight — a breathtaking sunrise above the clouds, followed by a scenic jeep ride and a hike to the crater of Mount Bromo itself.
Lazizbek E — Google review
If you are in Surabaya, you must climb Bromo. Best to go for a sunrise hike. The mountains and the view from the vantage point is incredible. It's such an amazing mountain with incredible folklore. This is a sacred mountain so please do not litter (there were a lot in the surroundings). There is also an altar of Ganesha where you can make offerings. There are also plenty of peddlers selling snacks and drinks. The climb is actually easy for physically fit people. But do note that there is a steep staircase climb to reach the mouth of the volcano. Alternatively, you may opt to rent a horse ride. In all, it's a must visit place.
Muhammad M — Google review
Mt. Bromo is a stunning place and definitely worth visiting, BUT... It's not well maintained, polluted and not much is invested into it's environment. See the picture how the fence around the crater looks like... Not very safe. I went during the day and it was not crowded. And obviously the horses don't get enough food. The horse ride is really not necessary...
M S — Google review
Beautiful crater and beautiful view of the sandy sea. Access by scooter or Jeep. Scooter parking 5000 rupees but you can park it in the same place as the Jeep (free). Then walk 10/15 minutes to get to the bottom of the stairs to climb the Mont. Entrance to the Mount = 250,000 rupees per person. Exorbitant and shameful price. HORSE ABUSE!!! Stop renting horses because you don't want to walk 15 minutes !!! Shame on Indonesians and tourists!!
Co C — Google review
I booked with a local tour group and had an amazing experience at Mt Bromo. The tour starts around midnight and we arrived at the viewpoint by 3 am to wait for the sunrise. The wait was a bit long since the sun comes up closer to 5 am and it was chilly, but you can rent a blanket for 25,000 IDR. The sunrise over Mt Bromo is absolutely breathtaking and the jeep ride through the desert to get there was exciting on its own. Our guides were wonderful and made everything smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Mt Bromo.

Ijen

Mentioned on
+25 other lists
Complex volcano
Nature & Parks
Ijen, located in Indonesia, is a set of volcanoes known for the mesmerizing sight of vibrant blue flames created by sulfuric gas. Mount Ijen boasts the largest acidic crater lake globally, and visitors can witness the surreal phenomenon of blue flames emanating from it at night. It's a popular attraction in Java, drawing tourists to marvel at the epic sunrise from Mount Ijen Crater Rim.
If you are an experienced, fit hiker…there is no need to get a guide and/or tour. Book a room near the entrance of the park (many options). The place will help you get gas masks, handle the entry ticket for the hike (register online, pay in person in cash), and rent extra clothing/head lamps as needed. The health certificate will be more of a pain, as it needs to be done in advance (I believe). Our driver took care of it for us on the way. The hike is some 3.8k to the crater rim, with a lot of elevation gain. Then down into the crater. No matter how early you arrive it will be mobbed…even if you don’t hire a guide you will be surrounded by them. Aside from the hike in/out of the crater itself, the hike is on a well-established, open path, but must be done in the dark to see the blue flames. Park opens the gate at 2.00 am; be there a bit earlier (before ~1.30) to beat the crowds a bit and pay for your ticket. There will be “traffic” basically the entire hike. You will save some money, but I’d say doing the hike independently is more just a personal choice based on preference…a tour can of course circumvent a good amount of logistics and planning. But on the whole, certainly manageable solo.
The O — Google review
Not easy to go here, wake up early at 2m to move to the base of the mountain, 3-4 hours trekking to the top of Ijen. As long as you don't give up, you can reach there. If you can't trek for longer, don't worry, they have special taxi service to carry you there 😆
Nguyen T — Google review
Spectacular! We chose to start our walk to the top of Ijen at about 6am, this is due to the desire of avoiding the masses of people that try to get there for sunrise (which can be unpredictable), the lake itself becomes more colourful as the sun gets higher in the sky. We got to plod along at our pace, enjoyed panoramic views with very few clouds, practically no-one else around, it was a perfect experience.
Shannon B — Google review
What an amazing experience and such a beautiful place to visit. Overall we spent a total of 4hr 30mins to climb the mountain, visit the crater and then come back. The climb up the mountain is steep and is uphill the majority of the way. Then to go down to the crater, it’s mainly rocks and dirt and is quite slippy. It was very very busy when we went, we got held up for a long time trying to get down to the crater, so be prepared. The blue fire was amazing to see, but surrounded by tourists as you would expect. Also avoid the sulfur smoke because it causes your eyes to water and can make you cough, even through the mask. They also ask at the bottom if you want to hire a coat- do NOT do this if you have a jumper or jacket already. We hired a coat and we took it off within 5mins of walking, amongst everything else we were wearing. The walk gets so hot as it’s all uphill. People were shirtless and in shorts by the time we got to the top. Additionally, you will be surrounded by tourists which block out the cold. Overall, this was quite a difficult trek, but 100% worth it. Make sure you wear good shoes.
Lana L — Google review
One of the most thrilling experiences while visiting Indonesia. We stayed at Gilimanuck. The hike starts around 2 AM. Gas masks, sweaters, hiking sticks, etc. are available for rent from the starting point. For those who are unable to trek the 4 km hike, trolleys are provided by the locals. The 1 km descent to the lake shore is only possible on foot. The stunning green acid lake and blue fire offer a magnificent view. The active volcano with erupting sulphur produces a strong odour. Artworks made of sulphur are available as souvenirs from the site. The sunrise from the rim of the crater is a great view.
Feroz S — Google review
My visit to Mount Ijen was an unforgettable experience. The trail was quite crowded, especially during the time I went — it was clearly a very touristy period, and honestly, there were a bit too many people. That took away from the peaceful vibe I was hoping for. Because of the crowd, I chose not to go down to see the famous blue flames. It felt unsafe — people were pushing to get down, and it didn’t seem worth the risk. Still, the view from the top was absolutely stunning. The bright blue crater lake was breathtaking, even from above. The sunrise was partially hidden by fog, but it actually gave the whole scene a mysterious, magical feel. We were lucky with the wind direction too — we barely needed our gas masks, as the sulfur fumes weren’t too strong that morning. If you’re planning to go, definitely bring a flashlight, sunglasses, and good hiking shoes. Despite the crowd, it’s one of those rare places that truly lives up to the hype — a must-see at least once in your life.
Kim N — Google review
Beautiful and definitely worth doing — but you have to accept that you’ll be doing it alongside more than a thousand other tourists. Most people start the hike around 2 AM, so it gets crowded, and there’s often a traffic jam on the way down to the blue fire. Still, it’s quite an experience — a bit dangerous, but the sunrise and the mysterious blue flames make it all worthwhile.
Vũ C — Google review
Very beautiful blue mountain flames. Must prepare well with full coverage eye goggles and as well as the filter mask. It’s worth the trip and the climb. Must reach before 5am, the flame fades after that. Sulphur gas smells strong. The blue lake visible after 5am. The view when going down the mountain is fantastic too

Menjangan Island, located in the West Bali National Park, is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts. This unspoiled island boasts a rich marine reserve that attracts divers and snorkelers with its phenomenal coral garden. The area is also home to a diverse wildlife population, including Javan deer and Bali Starling. Unlike the bustling tourist spots in Bali, Menjangan offers a tranquil escape with pristine beaches and lush jungles.
When you want to snorkel or dive this is a beautiful place to visit. Just book a tour and have a nice experience. And when you are lucky you may see a sea turtle beside the coral 🪸 where you find real colorful fish.
Kevin V — Google review
Loving every corner of this Island! You could see the view of Mount Raung and Mount Ijen from here. There are also deers living in this Island as Menjangan means Deer. I think the fish here also friendly 😆 there is a group of small fish (10-12 fish) circling me around like more than 10 times when I was snorkeling. They literally followed me until I get back into my boat. The minus is around the Sri Ganesha Temple there are a few of trash. Please do take an action.

One of best dive side I ever been. There was not or small currents and the visibility was super clear. lees of divers here.

Part of West Bali National Park. On the land, you can find many Menjangans (kind of deers), that is endemic animal of Menjangan Island & West Bali area. We are phohibited to touch and feed them since they are still wild animals and those actions can change their habit and behaviours. Under the water, we can explore beautiful yet healthy corals & see many of sea creatures from sea fans, eels, and macro creatures like nudibranchs, etc.

Love this place. My go to place whenever I’m visiting up north. A little touristy, but the hot spring are worth the trip & great to sooth the body & relax.

So peaceful! Tho it actually smells like Sulphur Sulphur but it is worth it. It has crowd though, but one thing I did not like though we had to purchase tickets for like 45000/p there was another parking fees which was supposed to be a donation! The man who was incharge asked us for 5000 and when we said no it’s based on donations you! He started saying! “Yeah yeah go away don’t pay anything” as if I have made a blunder by not paying him money! Tho i had given him a 1000 rupiah
Ankit N — Google review
The hot springs were nice, but the water wasn’t really hot. You have to pay extra fees for the spa or jacuzzi, and even for lockers (10,000 IDR). Still, the place had changing rooms and showers, we enjoyed it overall, and next time we’ll just bring shampoo!
Aurore S — Google review
Three pools with mineral infused water. One is the hottest and most crowded, the biggest one not too hot. Medium to medium high sulphur. More of a warm spring than a hot spring. Changing room was dirty and smelling bad. We decided to go back and change in the car and — I think it was the right call. Crowded with lots of tourist but no one disrespectful or anything on our visit. Some good bargains on knick knacks from the vendors as you walk up. My wife enjoys bargaining as it’s part of her culture and she got stuff for cheaper than back home. Small fee to park and use locker. They should close once a week for a deep cleaning, even half a day, would make it a five star experience
Ben V — Google review
Nice water, it smells somewhat like swimming in an egg salad but you quickly get used to it. Three pools, I couldn't tell the difference between them in temperature, but one of them has water spouts which can do you a satisfactory massage if you get the angles right as they fall from a large height. I didn't use the restaurant or massage services so can't comment. Lockers cost 10k and toilets 3k, cash only. Cheap entrance ticket (45k for bule) so worth it on that basis. I spent about two hours there. Watch out for the entrance - there are about 20 gifts shops so it you want to shop go for it, but otherwise expect to be hassled. You might be able to get a grab moped but I couldn't get a grab car from this location, so book a driver in advance unless you want to be ripped off by the taxis outside.
Sam M — Google review
A paradise on earth. This hot spring in the middle of the jungle is a paradise on earth. We had a great rest and my children loved it.
Sofiane H — Google review
After paying for entry I was told to ride up to motorcycle parking, where I was told I needed to make a donation for parking (that’s fine and expected in Bali) I didn’t like the harassment from the market holders to purchase things before entry to tie hot springs, I don’t mind if walking around Bali, but after paying to enter an attraction it was very unwelcoming. (They have everything you need for sale in the pools btw, I got stung 50,000 for a towel because i read they weren’t supplied) The hot springs themselves were a mixture of warmish/hot water in the top pool and lukewarm water in the larger pool. The pool itself felt quite dirty and underwhelming, I didn’t spend long here as I was turned off by how slimy the pool was. I went early and avoided the crowds, but after an hour it was quite busy so I had a drink and left.
Jamie B — Google review
Relaxing and nice hot spring, you can smell the sulphur on the water. There are changing rooms at the facility. I will advice you to bring your own towels if your don’t want to buy one at the way in. There are 3 pools to enjoy and if you go early in the day you can avoid big crowds. Overall is worth visiting. Enjoy !!

Lovina Beach is a great place to visit if you're looking for a tranquil beach with plenty of options for swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling. It's also perfect if you're looking to take in some stunning views of the surrounding coastline. The beach is located on the far north of Bali, making it a popular spot with tourists who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
We booked a dolphin-watching tour through Klook. We arrived early in the morning, before sunrise, to board the boat. It took about an hour to reach the dolphin-watching spot, and during the journey, we enjoyed the stunning beauty of the sunrise over the sea. The calm, early-morning atmosphere made the experience even more peaceful and magical. Along with us, there were hundreds of other boats heading to the same destination. When the time came, the dolphins began to appear, swimming in pods and occasionally leaping out of the water. We were lucky to see them playing around our boat three times, which made the experience even more special. The dolphins were lively and playful, creating a joyful atmosphere for everyone onboard. The tour also offered an option to swim with the dolphins, but I wouldn’t recommend it since it’s challenging to spot them underwater amidst so many boats and the movement in the water. The experience was truly breathtaking, and the boat captain was delighted by our satisfied smiles. On the way back, we noticed the crystal-clear water and the beautiful coral reefs beneath the surface. Besides dolphin-watching, this is also an excellent spot for snorkeling and exploring the underwater scenery, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers.
Quyen B — Google review
I spent a night in Lovina. It’s a big change from Seminyak or Ubud — less traffic, fewer crowds, and way more peace. The early morning dolphin tour was the highlight: we saw several pods swimming around the boat as the sun rose. Magical, even if there were a few too many boats at times. The beach itself isn’t the white sand you might expect, it’s black volcanic sand, which is cool in its own right. I also visited Banjar Hot Springs and the Brahmavihara monastery nearby, both worth a stop if you’re into nature and spirituality. Not much of a party scene here, which was perfect for me. Some nice cafes and warungs, and the locals were very welcoming. Overall, a good place to unwind and enjoy a quieter side of Bali.

Sharing is painful, watching how others had 8 people squeezing on 1. Boat runs slower with that much weight also. View: Spectacular, to view the sunrise. Water was so chill with no waves at all. However, I really hope the village people start taking care of this beautiful sea that they are blessed with. The water is clear but filled with rubbish. If this were to continue they would slowly destroy marine lives and dolphins may just start migrating. Dolphins: Left for the sea at 6am sharp. All of them have a group to communicate to each other if they sight dolphins which honestly is smart for the first batch but not after. Imagine 40-50 boats flying at high speed to a group of 5 dolphins. They just gonna end up hiding. Even after they hide and reappear, everyone just starts chasing it also… 700k for 2hours, only saw the dolphin 3 times. Would suggest going around 8am to 10am when the Dolphins are most active and that they’ve gathered together to come out to play.

The sunset are spectacular. There are restaurants and shops. I didn't like the many tour guides trying to get you on dolphin tours and vendors trying to sell us things. I guess that's normal in most of Asian countries. It becomes a little annoying when you want to have some peace.

PRO: the Lovina beach is reasonably quiet, always a spot in natural shadow to put your towel, not very touristy. The water is shallow hence good for children to play in. CON: it's literally littered with... litter. It's sad to see how much garbage is dumped here. A boy was sweeping sand off a little bridge on the beach and looked dismayed when I stepped over it... when the whole beach is covered in plastic bags, cups, straws and what not. They have projects on saving sea turtles yet keep dumping all their garbage in/near the sea... 😞

I drove 2.5h from Batur to see this place. There isnt a point to be here. Black sand, a lot of boats close to the beach and „dolohin” offers just for old turists, definitely not for travellers. This is even worse than beach in Kuta…

Finally visiting Bali’s northern black fine sand beach. We came to public part for sunset but it was too cloudy. Strange that someone collecting money only from foreigners for parking with some explanation to support villagers . Beach was not supper clean as many rubbish was there. Boys playing volleyball, some walking or running on the beach. We spent most of time on wooden pier relaxing and enjoying the views

Tanah Lot is a traditional Balinese temple situated on a small rocky island, offering stunning views of the water. It is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful location on the coast, surrounded by rocks and cliffs. The temple, which holds great significance for Hindu worshippers, provides breathtaking vistas of the sea. Tanah Lot is renowned as one of the best spots to witness mesmerizing sunsets in Bali.
It's a beautiful place. The atmosphere here is truly captivating. The grounds are large and well-maintained, with many interesting spots where you can capture a moment for a beautiful souvenir. If the weather is nice and there aren't many tourists, you can relax and soak up the atmosphere. The ticket price is undoubtedly good for this place. The best way to get here is by scooter. I also met guides who shared stories and guided tourists around.

Actually It’s a park which is a must place to visit and picnic while in Bali. Watch the high tides striking the cliffs and a beautiful sunset. An exquisite park to roam around and relax with some fine dining options. The temple is at some distance with no direct access and you don’t need to visit it

Tanah Lot Temple, Bali – A Majestic Sea Temple on the Rocks Tanah Lot Temple is one of Bali’s most iconic landmarks, renowned for its stunning offshore setting and mesmerizing sunset views. Perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by the sea, the temple appears to float during high tide, creating a truly magical sight. Located in Tabanan Regency, around 20 km from Denpasar, Tanah Lot is a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a mix of spirituality, culture, and natural beauty. The name Tanah Lot means “Land in the Sea” in Balinese, perfectly describing its dramatic position. The temple is dedicated to the sea gods and plays an important role in Balinese mythology. Legend says that it was established by the 16th-century priest Dang Hyang Nirartha, who built it after being inspired by the beauty of the coastline. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking ocean views, especially during sunset when the sky glows in shades of orange and gold, creating one of Bali’s most photographed moments. During low tide, tourists can walk across to the base of the temple, explore small caves with sea snakes believed to be sacred protectors, and witness local rituals performed by Balinese priests. The area around Tanah Lot features beautifully landscaped gardens, souvenir markets, and several cliffside restaurants offering panoramic views. It is also a popular spot for cultural performances and traditional dance shows held in the evenings. Tanah Lot is open daily, with the best time to visit being late afternoon to witness the sunset spectacle. Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly as it remains an active place of worship. In short: Tanah Lot Temple is not just a tourist attraction — it’s a symbol of Bali’s spiritual harmony, where nature and faith blend into an unforgettable experience.

Great place for a long walk, which is not common in Bali! Perfert to see the sunset. Lots and lots of shops with local artisan beautiful things. At sunset you can walk to the temple and get blessed. Then tgete are a few restaurants with local food and amazing view. Don't missed out.

Another most visited place in Bali. The temple is beautiful. The location is even better. Though bit far from Kuta; the visitors is worthwhile. Now it is entirely on the tide timings whether you can reach the main temple or not. If you happen to be there during low tide then just walk across the the flat rocks and you can reach the main temple stairs. Though there is nothing much to see there. The entire temple compound is beautifully landscaped. You may walk around to see the other photogenic spots. There are many stores and shops selling snacks and souvenirs. You may visit them while returning back. The main issue is transportation. If you are on a scooter then no worries. But if you are taking a Grab or Gojek cab from Kuta then it will be wise to ask the driver to wait for you there and come back in the same car. Local taxis might charge a lot if taken from the temple area.

Tanah lot temple is located in the sea side, one of the famous sea temples in Bali. Tanah Lot translates to "Land in the sea". The temple is built on a rock formation off the cost making it appear to float on the sea during high tide. It is famous for the stunning sunset views. Plan your trip to make sure that you will be able to witness the sunset from there. At the base of the temple, there is holy water which is guarded by snakes. We can enter here and seek blessings as well. There is lot of shops available for shopping near the entry and exit gates. Also, the famous traditional Balinese gate is there for photo shoots. Worth visiting 👍

Pura Tanah Lot is a Hindu temple located on the southwest coast of Bali. It sits on an offshore rock formation and it’s therefore reachable only when there’s low tide: part of the rock is artificial because it replaced the original damaged one during restoration works in the 80s. The temple itself is not accessible, so the only two attractions there are the blessing with the holy water in the cave below the temple and the water snake in the cave on the opposite side: both require a money offer and to be honest they are not worth it.

Tanah Lot Temple Indonesia Bali is pure magic, a sacred jewel perched on a rock in the heart of the ocean. At sunset, the sky paints it in gold, creating a breathtaking silhouette against fiery hues. Waves crash rhythmically below, as if the sea itself is chanting prayers. Intricate stone carvings on black volcanic rock tell ancient stories of devotion and beauty. The gentle chime of temple bells blends with the salty ocean breeze, soothing the soul. Walking across the beach at low tide feels like stepping into a divine painting. The sacred sea snake in the cave adds a touch of mystery and reverence. Clifftop views offer postcard-perfect panoramas that steal your breath away. Every corner radiates peace, spirituality, and timeless Balinese charm. Sunset crowds gather in awe, yet the atmosphere remains serene and sacred. Frangipani flowers and incense fill the air with sweet, holy fragrance. The multi-tiered meru towers stand proud, guardians of the coast. Watching the sun dip into the sea behind the temple is a memory for a lifetime. Even the journey through lush rice fields to reach it feels enchanting. Tanah Lot isn’t just a temple—it’s a love letter from nature to the divine. The reflection in tidal pools at golden hour is pure photographic poetry. Spiritual energy flows strong; you leave calmer, lighter, and deeply touched. No filter needed—the beauty here is raw, real, and soul-stirring. A must-visit masterpiece where earth, sea, and sky unite in harmony. Tanah Lot Temple: where beauty meets eternity, and your heart finds peace.

Uluwatu Temple, also known as Pura Luhur, is a historic Hindu temple situated on a cliff with breathtaking ocean views. The temple hosts traditional dance performances, including the famous kecak dance at sunset. It is also home to a colony of monkeys that roam the area. Nearby, there's Alila Villas, an impressive hotel perched on a clifftop with stunning suites and villas featuring a cliffside infinity pool overlooking the ocean.
5 stars for the AMAZING sunset you can watch from there. This is not to miss. You absolutely must catch the Sunset from here. It's one of the best I have ever seen. Warning ⚠️! Be very very careful of the monkeys there. They are aggressive and will go for your Phones, spectacles and all the lose items. Saw them snatch a poor fellows mobile from his hand while he was clicking pictures. Aside from that it is a wonderful place and you can watch Kecak dance if you want to as well. We skipped it as it was too crowded. You can buy the tickets after reaching there, no meed to book in advance. Cost of entry is 50000 IDR per person. They also give you the purple cloth to drape free of charge. You can follow my journey on a_wayfarers_odyssey on Instagram!

Aggressive monkey alert. You know this is a major problem if the guides have to remind guests not to wear jewelry, be alert at all times, and are patrolling the area to shoo monkeys away. In a span of 30min, we witnessed monkeys stealing hats off visitors heads, water bottles stolen, handphones lifted from open bags and swarming towards people holding plastic bags. Also watch out for monkeys coming up the cliff walls. I would not visit this place because spectacles might get snatched and smashed. The kecak dance queues are incredibly long and guests wait a long time in the heat to get a choice of seats. It felt like a tourist trap, so if you're interested in jist the sunset views, feel free to skip the dance and enjoy the temple views. Unfortunately, it was a very cloudy day when we visited so we couldn't get a good sunset shot. The entire grounds could be covered in less than 30min so plan your trip well for sunset if that's your only goal. It is 50k pax for temple only visit (no dance) and we paid in cash. Temple requires legs to be covered so long sashes are freely available at the entrance for those who are not wearing long pants/shorts. I would suggest visiting their website for a map of the grounds.

Great place to explore dharmic side of Bali. But access to worship area is totally restricted that was a bit disappointing for practicing Hindu like me. Still a good place to visit. And don’t miss Kechak dance there.
Ashok S — Google review
Amazing views from the cliff to admire Indian Ocean. Every evening there’s Kecak dance show you can watch during sunset (6pm and 7pm). Be aware of the monkeys - they like to mess up and steal your goods including sunglasses and phones! I recommend to come before sunset for the best views and stay till it gets dark.
Paweł C — Google review
The views are amazing. It's very hot during the sunny weather so make sure to take a hat/umbrella for the sun and some water(you can't buy it inside). Beware of the monkeys as they are very plucky and might try to take your belongings. I don't think they are aggressive enough to fight or bite you though. There are guards everywhere around which are looking out for them and will help you to retrieve your stuff if they steal it.
Ilya L — Google review
Great experience watched kecak dance at golden hour. Amazing sunset, beautiful cliff edge with clear skies and powerfull waves. One of must visit place in Bali. Allert! Monkeys are very aggressive. Make sure to follow instructions from the guide.
Amie K — Google review
Beautiful place to visit! Lots of culture, lots of beautiful views, lots of monkeys. Despite the other recent reviews, the monkeys didn't come near me. As with any tourist attraction the earlier you get here the better.
Daniel W — Google review
The views are amazing, one of the best that we have seen from lot of countries. However for temple you need to buy separate tickets. Even if you have to just watch Kecak dance then also you have to buy separate tickets for temple entry which is wrong.

Scenic Walking Areas
Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, located in Jatiluwih Village, Penebel Subdistrict, Tabanan Regency, Bali, is a picturesque area known for its lush and rolling rice terraces. It is considered one of the most beautiful views among all the terraced rice fields in Bali. Situated near Mount Batukaru, this UNESCO World Heritage Site preserves traditional Balinese farming techniques.
Very beautiful and well preserved rice terraces. It’s excellent that the local community are making efforts to preserve this space and the rice paddies. I’d recommend going in the morning as it gets more touristy in around noon onwards, also if you go in the morning you can beat the sun. There is not much shade when you are out walking on the terraces. We walked around for a few hours and overall just had a nice time in nature.
Oliver M — Google review
I visited this UNESCO-listed rice terrace, and out of all the rice terraces I explored in Bali — and I visited quite a few — this one is truly the best. If you have the chance, this is definitely the one worth seeing. Unfortunately, because of my driver, who wasn’t very patient and didn’t want to wait, I had to choose the shortest route. If I could visit again, I would absolutely choose the longest hike to fully enjoy the experience. I was lucky — there were absolutely no people because it was raining, so I got to enjoy the entire place in complete peace. It was incredible. There are also many cafés with beautiful views where you can sit and relax. I also visited a local warung right in the middle of the rice fields, where they serve brown rice grown directly on those very fields. The taste was amazing — truly unique and delicious. And don’t forget to bring a raincoat — if it rains, you’ll still be able to continue your walk through the rice terraces comfortably. Overall, this place is absolutely worth a visit.
Svitlana Z — Google review
Absolutely beautiful and incredibly extensive. Well-maintained pathways make it easy to get around. Rice terraces are perfectly manicured and photo-worthy. One price to get into the whole area, so no hassles like you would get at Tegallalang. Feels like less tourists, partly because it is further from town and not as popular on Instagram, though possibly even more beautiful. Also the area is so vast that you never feel like you’re surrounded by tourists. A must-see in Bali!
Jonathan H — Google review
It is the most amazing experience you will ever have in Bali. The rice fields are extensive and you can spend an entire day exploring the various paths that connect across the vast area. Not touristy but you can click awesome photos at every spot, enough to spam your folder with them. There are restaurants near the entrance that offer a variety of dishes at reasonable price. The cab pick-up and drop-off spot is right at the entrance, hassle-free! Recommend this over Tegallalang any day! Enjoy~

Jatiluwih is simply breathtaking — a sea of shimmering green terraces that seem to roll on forever. Walking the paths is easy and peaceful, with views that change at every turn. We decided to try a self-guided audio walk through the Voicemap app, and it really brought the landscape to life — explaining the Subak irrigation system, local farming rituals, and the stories behind this UNESCO-listed wonder. We stopped at a small coffee hut tucked right among the paddies — the view was unreal . Listening while we walked made the experience even more special; you really start to appreciate how much care and time goes into growing rice in Bali. It’s best to visit early morning when the air is cool and the light golden. Bring a hat, take your time, and just let the calm and the green of the rice fields surround you — Jatiluwih really is pure Bali magic. and with all the ricefields disappearing its so nice to see touches that remain of the real Bali.
Jannette B — Google review
My second time back at Jatiluwih to indulge in the stunning rice terraces — and it’s just as breathtaking as I remembered. It truly deserves its UNESCO Heritage title! 🌾 The view from the top is already magnificent, so no need to walk too far down to enjoy the beauty. Loved the peaceful atmosphere with gamelan music playing in the background and a few cute puppies running around — such a perfect touch to the whole experience. 🐶💚

Jatiluwih Rice Terraces are one of the most magical places I visited in Bali. As soon as you arrive, the sweeping views of emerald-green paddies that stretch across hillsides leave you speechless. The air is cool and fresh, especially in the morning, when mist clings to the terraces and gives everything a soft, dreamlike quality. It felt as if nature was putting on a show just for us. We spent several hours walking along one of the marked trails, winding through the terraces and stopping often just to breathe in the beauty. The walk felt immersive: quiet paths, birdsong, distant mountain peaks, and the gentle murmur of streams fed through the subak irrigation system. Every viewpoint gave a new frame for photos—some shallow, some sweeping, some intimate. Jatiluwih isn’t crowded like some of the more famous terrace spots; that peace made the experience feel more authentic. The terraces also carry rich culture — the subak system (a traditional community-managed irrigation method) is still very much alive here, adding depth and meaning to what might otherwise just be scenery. We saw farmers tending the fields, local warungs (eateries) with views over the terraces, and small cafes where we rested and enjoyed simple, excellent food. If you love nature, photography, culture, or just want a peaceful escape, Jatiluwih delivers more than you expect. Stunning landscapes, serenity, and a deep sense of place make it a highlight of Bali and a must-visit for anyone who wants more

Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is truly beautiful and absolutely worth visiting. It offers a real, expansive rice terrace experience, much more authentic and impressive than the smaller one near Ubud center. The area is huge, peaceful, and perfect for walking around and taking in Bali’s natural beauty. A must-see for anyone who enjoys scenic landscapes.

Padang Padang Beach, also known as Nyang Nyang Beach, is a serene and picturesque stretch of golden sand located in the Uluwatu area of Bali. Away from the bustling tourist areas, this beach offers a perfect retreat for those seeking solitude and natural beauty. The expansive shoreline is framed by rugged cliffs, creating a constantly changing yet always captivating backdrop.
⭐ 4.5/5 – Beautiful but can get crowded Padang Padang Beach is one of Bali’s iconic small beaches, famous for its turquoise waters, white sand, and dramatic rock formations. You enter through a narrow cliffside stairway, which makes the approach feel a bit adventurous — and the view when you step onto the sand is breathtaking. 👍 Pros: • Stunning scenery, great for photos. • Calm, clear water, perfect for swimming. • Popular surf spot with consistent waves for intermediate surfers. • Unique cliff entrance adds charm. ⚠️ Cons: • Small beach area, so it gets very crowded, especially late morning to afternoon. • Entry fee applies (small amount, but cash only). • Limited shade — bring sunscreen and maybe an umbrella. 💡 Tips: • Best to visit early in the morning to enjoy the peace before the crowds. • Bring water and snacks, though there are small stalls nearby. • If you surf, this spot can be magical during the right tide.

What a great beach to learn to surf at. Great instructors. And there is a bit of shade from the harsh bali sun. Be prepared to walk up and down 100 or so steep stairs.

Prettiest beach I have seen in bali - it easily became my favorite. It is rather small, but that’s what makes it cozy. Didn’t get a chance to surf here but waves seem chill and beginner friendly compared to other parts of bali. Beach was quite crowded on Friday past noon, but still worth visiting💯 Sidenote: -has entrance fee -will see some monkeys -has 2 not-so-clean bathroom and 3 showers, no area to change -need to walk up and down steep steps to reach the beach area, could be difficult for elders or kids if you are traveling as a family

A magical beach with cinematic beauty and spiritual calm. Padang Padang Beach is one of those places that truly lives up to the photos. Tucked below towering cliffs, it’s small, golden, and framed by turquoise water that sparkles in the sun. You enter through a narrow limestone passageway, almost like stepping into a secret world — and when the view opens, it takes your breath away. This beach became famous after the movie Eat Pray Love was filmed here, and you can instantly feel why — it has that same romantic, peaceful, self-discovery energy that Bali is known for. 🌿 It’s also a surfer’s paradise, so expect crowds of surfers waiting for the perfect wave, especially in the late afternoon. If you prefer quiet, come early morning when the tide is soft and the light glows gently on the water. There’s only one restaurant right on the beach — simple, local, and great for fresh coconuts or a light meal after swimming. Bring cash, as there are no ATMs nearby, and a small fee is collected at the entrance for parking and beach access. Be mindful of the monkeys near the stairs — they’re cheeky and quick, so hold on to sunglasses and jewelry! This is a place to slow down, connect with the ocean, and simply breathe. Whether you come for the surf, the views, or a quiet moment of reflection, Padang Padang Beach reminds you of Bali’s pure, soulful beauty. ✨ Shared on my journey of mindful travel, yoga & ocean calm at @AlwaysInYogaFlow

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the picturesque Bedugul region of Bali, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is a serene Hindu temple located on the shores of Lake Beratan. Surrounded by clear waters and lush gardens, this temple appears to float on the surface of the lake, offering stunning photo opportunities. Regarded as one of Bali's top temples, it provides a tranquil escape from the coastal crowds and boasts breathtaking views of the mountainous landscape.
Ahh, what a place Ulun Danu Temple is! 🌸 I feel a lot of people miss this spot since it’s about an hour’s ride from Ubud central and not overly hyped on Instagram. But believe me, it’s an absolute must-visit when in Bali. The drive itself is beautiful, and once you reach, the entire temple complex and grounds are just stunning. Everything feels serene and picture-perfect. Easy logistics – paid parking & smooth ticketing. Weather drama – it changes every few minutes! One moment it was bright and sunny, and the next it turned misty, foggy, and drizzly. Photography heaven – Balinese gates, lush landscapes, and the iconic temple floating on the lake make for unreal backdrops. There are also nice, reasonably priced restaurants inside the premises, and the washrooms are clean and well-maintained (paid). You can even rent Balinese outfits for a photoshoot — sadly I missed this due to the rain. I loved every bit of it. Tip: Go prepared for sudden weather shifts and give yourself enough time to just soak in the beauty. A must-visit, one of Bali’s gems.

The Ulun Danu Beratan Temple (also known as Pura Ulun Danu Bratan) is widely considered one of Bali's most beautiful and iconic landmarks. It is having stunning natural setting, spiritual significance, and picturesque architecture, though some also note its popularity as a tourist destination. Stunning Location and Scenery: The temple is set on the tranquil shores of Lake Bratan in the cool, misty Bedugul highlands. The multi-tiered shrines (meru) appear to be floating on the water's surface, especially when the lake level is high, making it one of the most photographed spots in Indonesia. Aesthetic and Photogenic: The combination of the temple, the lake's reflection, the lush manicured gardens, and the mountain backdrop creates a truly spectacular and "must-see" visual experience. It's often referred to as the "floating temple of Bali." Spiritual Significance: It is an important Hindu water temple dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of water, rivers, and lakes, and plays a vital role in Bali's traditional *subak* irrigation system. Cooler Weather: Located about 1,200 meters above sea level, the area offers a refreshing break from the heat of the coastal regions. Accessibility: The grounds are generally well-maintained and easy for all types of visitors, including families and older travelers, to explore. Best Time to Visit: To avoid the crowds and the mist/fog that can roll in during the afternoon, it is highly recommended to visit early in the morning (around 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM). This also provides the best lighting for photos. Cash Only:Entrance fees and payments at many local stalls require cash. Boat Rides:For a unique view, visitors can take a traditional boat ride on Lake Beratan. The general consensus is that despite being a popular tourist spot, the sheer beauty of the temple's setting makes it absolutely worth visiting for anyone exploring central Bali.

Our visit to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple was truly a memorable experience. The temple's stunning location on the shores of Lake Beratan offers breathtaking views, especially with the misty mountains in the background. The architecture of the temple is intricate and beautifully preserved, reflecting Balinese culture and spirituality. Walking around the temple complex, I felt a sense of tranquility and reverence. The surrounding gardens are well-maintained and add to the peaceful atmosphere. While the area can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours, it didn’t detract from the overall beauty of the site. The staff was friendly and respectful, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn about the temple’s significance to local Balinese Hindus. One minor downside was the limited shade in some areas, so it’s best to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the heat. Overall, Ulun Danu Beratan is a must-visit destination in Bali, offering both cultural insight and stunning scenery. I would definitely recommend it to anyone exploring Bali's spiritual sites!

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is one of those places that just takes your breath away. The temples seem to float right on the lake with the mist rolling down from the mountains — it’s picture-perfect. But can be lots of people at various times. The gardens are well maintained and full of colour, with temples, shrines, and statues, and even a quiet Buddhist stupa tucked away in the gardens. . We noticed many people wandering through just taking photos, but not realising how much meaning and history this place holds. Its literally thousands of years old. so crazy. We used the Voicemap app for a self-guided audio tour, and it honestly made such a difference — it explained the stories behind the temples, the goddess of the lake, the central temple story floating in the lake, which is quite amazing, and why this Temple is so important to Balinese life. We would recommend this App if you're travelling without a guide, or if you're guide stays in the car like many do, whilst you walk through. Its so worth it Go early when it’s calm and the light hits the water — it’s just magic. Understanding what you’re seeing makes it all feel even more special. From there we then drove to Jatiluwih Rice Fields which are not far away, so saw two great places in one day.

I visited this place in the afternoon and spent around 2–3 hours there. Out of all the places I visited in Bali, this one truly stood out — it was one of the few that really impressed me. If you have the chance, I genuinely recommend coming here. It’s definitely worth it. I went on a weekday, and although there were people, it wasn’t crowded. It was easy to take photos at different spots without anyone in the background. The entire area is well-maintained and very beautiful. There’s also a small kids’ zoo where, for an additional fee, you can feed the animals. You can even take photos with different reptiles for an extra charge. Overall, I highly recommend visiting — it’s absolutely worth your time.

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple was an okay place to visit. The lake itself is beautiful, especially with the low clouds surrounding it, such a nice, cool atmosphere. Definitely bring a jacket because the weather up here is much cooler and the fresh air feels great. It does get quite crowded, and the overall experience feels a bit less authentic than expected, but the scenery still makes it a pleasant stop if you’re in the area.

My visit to temple in Bali was a pleasant experience. The temple stands on the edge of Lake Beratan in Bedugul and looks like it is floating on the water. Surrounded by green mountains and cool air, the place feels very calm. The temple is dedicated to the goddess of lakes and rivers. Its tall pagoda-style roofs and neat gardens make it very attractive. We also enjoyed the view of the lake. It is a peaceful and must-visit spot in Bali.

The temple itself sits partly on the lake, creating a magical reflection that’s perfect for photos. The area is well-maintained, with gardens, statues, and traditional Balinese architecture that showcase the island’s culture and spirituality. It’s best to visit early in the morning when the mist rises over the lake — the atmosphere feels serene and almost mystical. There are also local food stalls, restaurant, souvenir shops. Beautiful lake and mountain backdrop. Peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. Great spot for photography. Cool climate and well-kept gardens. A must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Bali, perfect for culture lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Amusement park ride
Waterbom Bali is a sprawling water park spanning 3.8 hectares, offering an array of rides and attractions suitable for all ages. It's a top family-friendly destination in Kuta, Bali. The park features exhilarating water slides, games, gardens, pools, and the steepest waterslide in Asia called The Climax. Visitors can also enjoy the Lazy River, Funtastic, Twin Racers, Fast N Fierce, Smashdown and more.
One of the highlights of my trip to Bali! The many rides vary in speed & thrill and there is a great mix of group & single rides. The park was so clean, well-maintained & had amazing food & beverage options. The staff were all so friendly and FUN! They made jokes with us and eased our tension when we got a little nervous. The Climax is the best ride to go on hands down! Also, the way in which the wrist band worked for paying & to get photos is so clever & user-friendly. The only complaint I have is that the photos were only available in print & not digitally. And the photos were really expensive. It wasn’t worth it for me getting print - so here’s hoping they see my review & offer digital photos! I would have loved to keep those for memories.

Waterbom Bali = 10/10 🌊✨ I recently visited Waterbom Bali, and I have to say it’s one of the best waterparks I’ve ever been to. The park offers a wide variety of attractions, from thrilling slides to relaxing areas, with different zones designed to suit all ages and preferences. The facilities are excellent, very well-organized, and spotless, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The staff and team members were friendly, helpful, and made everything easy. Overall, I highly recommend visiting—whether you’re with family, friends, or just looking for a fun day out.

A great aqua park with the Bali jungle theme. I knew why it's one of the top ranked parks worldwide. Although the place is not huge, it has all the facilities, food, lockers & showers with high quality. Very well organized. All rides are suitable for family except one or 2 which are super extreme. The working crew is very helpful. No food is allowed inside.

What a fun day at waterbom!!! The best water park ever!!! The place is huge & nice. Definitely worth it. Families or groups so recommended to come to this place. They have big parking area. The service also very good, all the staff are nice, friendly & helpful. But sadly for the changing room only the front one near the exit door that have shower. They should put also for the second one behind. They have a small store also. You can buy some merchandise from there. Not allowed to bring your food from outside. But thef food here also expensivet🙈. Overall what a nice place!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Waterbom Bali – A Perfect Family Day Out! An absolutely fantastic day! The park is clean, well-organised, and has something for everyone — from big adrenaline slides to relaxing lazy rivers. Staff were friendly and safety-focused, which made the whole experience feel really comfortable, especially with kids. The grounds are beautiful, the food options were great, and the queues moved quickly. A highlight of our Bali trip — we could’ve stayed all day! Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone wanting a fun, safe, and memorable day in Bali. 🌴💦🎢

Awesome day out. Very clean, safe and friendly. Queuing was not a problem - just go for the rides with small queues and save the popular ones for lunchtime or the end of the day. Place was pretty much empty by 5pm. My boy had an absolute blast!

A trip to Bali just isn’t complete without hitting up Waterbom. This place is unreal. Everything is so well thought-out, super clean, and there are friendly staff and lifeguards everywhere keeping an eye on things with big smiles. The slides are an absolute blast – thrilling, exciting, and had us screaming and laughing non-stop. My kids were in heaven all day, didn’t want to leave, and keep asking when we’re going back. Hands-down the best water park day we’ve ever had! 🌊✨

We loved everything in tge waterpark. We took all the slides and they were so so fun! We couldn’t decide our favorite, every single one was so fun! The staff were super helpful. We ate so much gelato because it was that good! The lazy river was a great way to relax after a high adrenaline slide. We absolutely loved it. 10/10 experience. Highly recommended!

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is a delightful escape into nature, perfect for those looking to unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life. This scenic trail offers a gentle hike with breathtaking views of lush hills and valleys, making it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls or cycling. Starting at the historic confluence of the Wos River, this trek allows you to immerse yourself in Ubud's natural beauty while breathing in the fresh air.
A peaceful walk through Ubud’s heart. The Campuhan Ridge Walk is pure magic — especially early in the morning when the air is cool and the light touches the rice fields with gold. It’s an easy, scenic trail surrounded by lush hills, birdsong, and a calm that feels timeless. You’ll pass small temples, locals on morning walks, and cafés tucked along the path — perfect for a juice or coconut after your walk. The views are simply breathtaking, especially if you pause often and let nature quiet your mind. 🌾 ✨ Shared on my journey of mindful travel, yoga & healing at @AlwaysInYogaFlow

Nice place to walk not far from the city. You have a good walking trail, but most of it expose to the sun. You can't go of the walking way to gind you a nice quit place in the wood. On start from south you can reach the river. On the north point you have some galeres and coffee shoe. If you need to get by walk to your entry point, start from south because there is a hilll to go, and it will be nicer to go down after you finish you walking.
Bar S — Google review
Beautiful walk. Lots of up and down and stairs. If someone has trouble walking won't be too good for them. It is very hot as well. This Campuhan Ridge Walk can be a leisurely hike and takes around 30 to 45 minutes each way. Ofcourse depending on your pace and how often you stop for photos. I didn't go too far as it was very hot and humid but the entire round trip can be completed in about 1.5 hours. I also recommend wearing comfortable sneakers or walking shoes because the path is uneven in some places. If you plan to explore the nearby villages or stop at one of the cafés along the way, you might want to allow a bit more time. I stopped at a beautiful temple to visit just before starting the trail, so I would probably dedicate half a day to this visit. Lush greenery everywhere. It's free to enter the place.

Very pretty walk, totally mapped out so you won’t get lost. I wish there was more of a loop but I basically stop at a cute cafe called Draniki get a juice and go back the way I came. It’s a good, relaxing way to get your steps in away from the town. But it’s not really a hike for anyone looking for a challenge.

I was interested in visiting Campuhan Ridge Walk because many of my friends recommended it. As someone who loves hiking and walking, the Campuhan Ridge Walk was definitely something I didn’t want to miss during my stay in Ubud. I started my walk at 7 AM, and I think it was the perfect time. The trail is about 2 km long with beautiful scenery along the way. It wasn’t crowded in the morning, though I still passed a few people walking or jogging. Some brought their kids, and I also saw several people walking with their dogs. I loved walking slowly along the neatly paved path. It took me around one hour to reach Pura Gunung Lebah. There are no restaurants or convenience stores along the trail, so it’s important to bring your own water. There are also no public toilets along the way, but once you reach the village area, you’ll find restaurants and small shops. In the village, you can also see art galleries, villas, and more places to explore. Historically, the Campuhan Ridge was originally a meditation path used by the priest who built Pura Gunung Lebah. With time, the temple and the trail became an important spiritual center in the Ubud area. As the local community grew, the surroundings developed into residential areas. And with the growth of tourism in Ubud, the ridge walk eventually became one of the must-visit spots. Even so, I can still feel the spiritual atmosphere when walking slowly along the trail—enjoying the beautiful scenery, the fresh air, and the calm environment.
Dwi A — Google review
The pavement/walkway was so clean and serene. Come early to avoid the heat. I didn't go all the way to the other side but you can enjoy the calm village view and had smoothie, fruits or coffee on your way.
Jayvon J — Google review
Amazing trek but the walk is not suitable for children and prams. The hills are steep and the steps are crooked and easy to trip over. I saw a local trip and fall on my visit here. Be careful, wear good shoes. I would recommend not going on a hot day as there aren’t any air conditioned areas at the end point.
Nate W — Google review
The Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Ubud itself — the path is easy winding along the top of the ridge through green hills, tall grasses, and endless views. The walk starts near the bridge and river at the bottom and winds up past the beautiful old temple and opens up into a most scenic walk We used the Voicemap app for a self-guided tour, and it made the walk even more interesting. It pointed out things we might’ve missed — the different grasses swaying along the ridge, the birds and insect life, the history of the path, and even the story of how those two famous palm trees ended up there! Toward the end, it also mentions that you can keep going down into the rice fields if you want to explore further. The app explores the history of Ubud too and lots of other interesting stories. We went early in the morning before the heat and humidity of the day, if youre going later take a hat or umbrella and was amazed at the amount of people talking their morning walk along there. The views are lovely and it’s a calm, refreshing way to start the day in Ubud. The Ridge is not far from the main road and easy to wander back ready for the day ahead.

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

Nestled in the heart of Bali, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a captivating Hindu temple complex surrounded by lush jungle. This enchanting destination is famous for its playful long-tailed macaques, who roam freely among ancient temples adorned with intricate carvings. Visitors can immerse themselves in both nature and spirituality as they explore this community-led sanctuary, which serves as a hub for scientific research and cultural preservation.
The Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud was one of the highlights of my trip to Bali. The moment you step inside, you feel like you’ve entered a magical jungle—huge banyan trees, moss-covered statues, and peaceful temple ruins all hidden within the forest. It’s not just a tourist attraction, it really feels like a sacred place. Of course, the monkeys are the stars here. They’re playful, cheeky, and endlessly entertaining to watch. I loved seeing them jump from tree to tree, care for their babies, and interact naturally with each other. It felt like being a guest in their world rather than just looking at animals behind cages. What impressed me most is how well the sanctuary is maintained. The paths are clean and easy to walk, the temples are stunning, and there are staff around to make sure both visitors and monkeys stay safe. I also appreciated the clear rules—they remind you to respect the animals and enjoy observing them without disturbing their natural behavior or even to feed them. I’d recommend going in the morning when it’s cooler and less crowded. Bring your camera (you’ll want a hundred photos!), but keep your belongings secure because the monkeys are curious and love to “borrow” things.
Souad Y — Google review
This was my 4th time visiting the monkey forest and I loved it. Despite what you hear about monkey aggression, you just have to follow the rules and signs. I did make eye contact with a monkey by accident and it grabbed me which I found quite funny to be honest. It didn’t hurt me, and it was my mistake lol. To add to that, I have never been attacked or seen anyone badly injured here. Honestly, it was heartwarming to see the local Balinese bonding and feeding the monkeys, you can tell they are trained and know what they are doing. I really enjoy the fact that these monkeys are able to free roam. It may be scary for humans, but it is great that they are not chained or caged. It is so nice to see the Balinese genuinely care for these gorgeous animals. At the end of the day, you are in the monkeys home. Treat them with respect and they shall leave you be. It’s a really beautiful and breezy area. The natural landscape of this place is breathtaking.
Erin M — Google review
A nice casual walk in the park. There are a lot of monkeys but they are not aggressive. There are conservation staff around to park to ensure that the interactions between the guests and monkeys are safe and ethical. The monkeys are not particularly afraid of humans and may climb onto a person, although no feeding is allowed. Most part of the park is shaded and in forest area. Bring bug spray. There’s a nice and easy walking trail through the forest and lots of relics to look at.

Such a magical and unforgettable experience! The Monkey Forest Sanctuary is absolutely beautiful, lush, peaceful, and filled with nature’s charm. The monkeys are playful and fun to watch (just keep your belongings safe!). I loved how well-maintained and organized the place is, with helpful staff and clear paths through the forest and temples. It’s the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and nature all in one spot. A must-visit when in Ubud!
Kat S — Google review
Surpassed any expectations I have had about the sanctuary. I was a bit scared and nervous coming to the place. However, if you follow the rules, monkey will leave you alone and do they own things and they're very useo to human. It was an amazing experience to observe the monkeys in their habitat. The place was very well maintained and reasonable price for entry tickets.

Great place to visit! I had a really nice time walking through this tropical forest filled with monkeys. There are plenty of them everywhere, and watching them was a lot of fun. The whole walk was relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely worth a stop when you’re in Ubud.

This place is absolutely beautiful, magical, and full of wanderlust energy! Monkeys are everywhere swinging from trees, lounging on railings, and living their best lives. The forest itself feels like stepping into another world, surrounded by lush greenery and ancient temples covered in moss. It’s incredible to watch these monkeys up close (just hold onto your belongings!). I had such a fun and unforgettable experience here. The monkeys truly seem to be living great lives in their sacred jungle home.

Be careful >< I had some Keychain on my bag, Litteraly at the exit, one monkey took 2 of them.. I was able to grab one back. Anyways don't have anything outside the bag, water, Keychain ecc, no sunglasses and I would be careful also with earrings. We needed like an hour to see everything inside, it's nice and the monkey are mostly doing their things, eating, running ecc. I did not pay for have my photo taken, if I remember correctly was 50k for the service. Just be respectful, I took photo of the monkey but didn't get to near, just walk and leave them alone. When there's a lot of people can be stressful for them.

Nestled just 30 minutes north of Ubud, Ceking Rice Terrace is a breathtaking destination that showcases the stunning beauty of terraced rice paddies surrounded by lush greenery. This picturesque landscape is not only a feast for the eyes but also an excellent example of traditional Balinese farming practices, particularly the subak irrigation system, which has been in use since the eighth century.
I visited the Tegallalang Rice Terrace in Bali and it’s every bit as beautiful as the photos suggest. The landscapes are stunning — layered rice fields stretching into the distance with lush greenery and palms swaying overhead. It’s a place where you can truly take in Bali’s natural beauty. This spot is great if you enjoy light hiking. There are paths and trails that let you wander through different levels of the terraces, giving you both peaceful walking moments and opportunities to admire the scenery from different perspectives. Just be prepared for a little climbing — some portions can be steep or uneven, but the views make it worth it. It’s also a fantastic photo location. Whether you’re capturing wide scenic shots or taking iconic Bali-style pictures among the terraces, it’s easy to find beautiful backdrops everywhere you turn. Overall, Tegallalang Rice Terrace is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature, views, and a little adventure. Scenic, peaceful, and perfect for photos and exploration — definitely worth the stop.

An absolutely stunning spot and definitely worth a visit! 🌾 The views over the rice terraces are breathtaking, and you can really feel the beauty and calm of Bali here. There are those famous swing experiences where you can rent a beautiful flowing dress and pay for a professional photo or video — they’re amazing if you want that classic Bali swing moment! 🎥💃 But there are also lovely free spots around the terraces where you can take great photos without spending extra. Just explore a little and you’ll find beautiful angles with fewer crowds. Highly recommend going early in the morning for the best light and a peaceful atmosphere. ✨
Shahida A — Google review
These terraces are located closest to Ubud and are by far the most popular with tourists. Admission is free, but you can pay a voluntary fee. They are beautifully maintained, with many spots and viewpoints for beautiful photos. It's worth sitting down at a nearby restaurant (there are many to choose from) for a drink or a meal and admiring the rice terraces from a different perspective. A phenomenal place. I won't say more. It's a must-see.

Absolutely stunning place! 🌾 The Tegallalang Rice Terraces are one of the most beautiful spots in Bali. You can walk along the narrow paths through the rice fields and enjoy the amazing view of the terraced hills. It’s peaceful, refreshing, and a great way to connect with nature. Perfect for travelers, families with kids, or even teens who want to learn about local farming and Balinese culture. Don’t forget to stop by one of the small cafés around for a coconut or coffee while enjoying the scenery. Highly recommend visiting early morning or before sunset for the best experience! 🌅✨

Spectacular place to visit. I HIGHLY recommend going there around sunrise. I was let in at 6:30am and i was the only one there for a good 30 mins. To be left to your own devices in a UNESCO World Heritage Site is out of this world. Stunning scenery every way you look. Great for photographers
Scott W — Google review
The best time to visit is just before sunset, when the atmosphere is calm, traffic is lighter, and the area is pleasantly cool. The entrance fee is very affordable and already includes parking. Along the trail, several small local vendors offer refreshments — a simple yet meaningful way to support the community during your visit. What makes this destination truly special is its commitment to preserving the natural landscape while empowering the local residents. A serene and sustainable experience that reflects the authentic beauty of Bali.

Absolutely breathtaking! Tegallalang Rice Terrace is one of the most stunning places in Bali — the layered green fields, fresh air, and peaceful atmosphere make it unforgettable. Sanur is a charming resort town on the east coast of Bali, known for its colorful fishing boats, galleries, restaurants, and an old temple. Once a fishing village, it has retained its local charm and friendliness while offering a beach resort atmosphere with hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment venues. Despite not being technically in Denpasar, it's just a 15-minute drive away.
The beach is clean as it has cleaners, every day the pedestrian and sand beach are cleaned of trash along the shoreline. If you walk on the pedestrian, you may see some photographers who will take pictures of you. If you feel shy about being photographed, just ignore it. But if you want to see the result, you can see it in the Fotoyu application that you can download in Playstore. Anyway, this place is suitable for you who want to run, swim, cycle, or just enjoy the sunrise. Oh yes you can try eating food there, I recommend eating Ote-ote and Lumpia

Not the most attractive beach to be honest and very dirty in places. Plenty of resorts along the beach where you can go to the pools(for a fee). Plenty of food outlets across the whole spectrum of quality (😂) and a massive shopping mall along the boardwalk. Extremely tourist oriented and very busy.

This beach is filled with tourists, yet the ambiance feels relaxed and calm. Biked with my son along the path. Shops, food stalls around, Icon Mall Bali is here as well. (End of July 2025)

Sanur Beach is hands down my favorite sunrise spot in Bali. The vibe here is so much more relaxed compared to the busier southern beaches. I love how the golden morning light hits the traditional jukung fishing boats lined up along the shore - it's absolutely magical. What makes it 5-star worthy: - The calm turquoise waters are perfect for swimming (no crazy waves here) - The 5km paved beach walk is ideal for morning jogs or bike rides - Local warungs serve amazing nasi campur right on the sand - Less crowded than Kuta/Seminyak but still has great amenities - Stunning sunrise views over Nusa Penida on clear days Don't miss: ✓ Breakfast at one of the beachfront cafes ✓ Renting a bike to explore the coastline ✓ The Sunday morning market when it's on Pro tips: 1. Arrive by 5:30am for prime sunrise viewing 2. Bring small cash for fresh coconut vendors 3. Water shoes help with some rocky sections Sanur proves you don't need wild parties to have an amazing beach experience. The peaceful atmosphere, gorgeous views, and local charm make it my top-rated beach in Bali. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone needing a tranquil escape!

I think this beach was alternative for those who didn't really like crowds It wasn't so crowd like kita There were many cafes for drinking coffe or eating snacks Not so far from that, there is a mosque there If you stay at Prime Hotel, this beach is the nearest

Goa Gajah

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Goa Gajah, also known as Elephant Cave Temple, is a significant archaeological site and a popular tourist spot in Bedulu Village near Ubud. Despite its name, there are no actual elephants here, but visitors can admire the stone figure of Ganesh, a Hindu deity with an elephant's head. The cave dates back to the 9th century and features stone carvings of Hindu gods.
Highlights & Attractions The Cave Entrance: The most famous and photographed part is the massive, menacing face carved into the rock, with its gaping mouth serving as the entrance. It is often described as a spectacular and bizarre sight. The Cave Interior: The cave is relatively small and T-shaped. Inside, visitors find a statue of the Hindu god Ganesha and representations of Shiva (lingam and yoni). It was historically a site for meditation. The Grounds and Surrounding Nature: True beauty and attraction lies outside the cave. The complex includes: Sacred Bathing Pools (Tirta Empul): Featuring seven statues of female figures (Hindu angels/nymphs) that act as waterspouts. Lush Valley and Rice Paddies: A walk down a path leads to a beautiful, serene valley with tropical gardens, lush greenery, and a small waterfall, offering great photo opportunities. Buddhist Section: Ruins of a Buddhist temple and relics are located at the southern end of the complex, showcasing the co-existence of Hindu and Buddhist elements. Historical Significance: Visitors appreciate that the site is an important archaeological landmark, believed to date back to the 9th century and listed as a tentative UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Best Time to Visit: Early in the morning is highly recommended to avoid the crowds, the heat, and to enjoy a more peaceful, serene experience. Time Needed: The cave itself takes only a few minutes to explore, but most recommend setting aside less than an hour to explore the entire complex, including the valley, rice fields, and bathing pools. Dress Code:As it is an active worship site, a sarong and sash are mandatory to cover knees and shoulders for both men and women. These are typically available for rent or included with the entrance fee. What to Bring:Wear comfortable shoes as there are many stone steps and paths, and bring water.
Samir S — Google review
Used to be a UNESCO SITE, this temple is well preserved and should continue to be. Entrance fee includes temporary sarong rent which makes sense for tourists and doesn't feel rip off. There are guides at sites but they are not pushy for business. Used as a sanctuary for both Hinduism and Buddhism, you could see two religions in one. There's also a Buddha temple right at the end but it seems neglected. Overall, worth a visit especially if you are interested in cultural understanding.

This is temple in bali where Pooja is still carried out in a temple. Nice temple of Lord Ganesha and Shiva . It also has an idol of lord Buddha. The place has a nice spring and whole temple seems to be in the midst of a forest. Temple can be better maintained as there are entrance fees for the same .

This was the highlight and a great location to end out day. We arrived approx. 17:30 (closure at 18:00). It was empty and peaceful, which made it all the more special and a great location to see. One to recommend however be warned, there is a fait bit to decend and climb, all worth it though. There is also a smallish waterfall, secluded and covered by massive forest. Entry cost is R50k pp. Must see.

A very spiritual temple in Bali. Worth visiting while in Ubud. We went there during a local ceremony and saw the place decked up in traditional decorations. People were offering puja in ceremonial attire. The compound is huge with its own water fall and garden. The inside of the temple is sacred and the atmosphere feels divine. There are quite a few steps to be climbed up and down. Take your time and explore the surroundings.

It's not big cave. Inside cave there are statues of God. If in hurry one can skip this place. Architecture of entrance is different. However, road to buddha temple from their is beautiful. Nature lover will find it worth visiting.

Goa Gajah temple is one of the visiting places in Bali. The temple has entrance fee of 50000 rupai per person and temple closes by 6 pm. There is a big center with shopping stalls around. I strongly recommend to visit Goa Gajah. If you dont have enough time, just see from the top of the temple before the entry.

Many years ago,I came here in kintamani and it was a dirt track and a few hawkers. Now it has a massive viewing platform along with aggressive hawkers. Now don't get me wrong, the views are fabulous and many lovely restaurants around too....BUT..if ur a foreigner and have a car or guide, before u getting the top to view the mountain u will be charged 50,000rp or $5 per person just to drive to the top 1 min away. I have no objection to pay as long as at the other end there is someone to maybe give a brief history of the area or mnt. All monies go back to the government but nothing for the locals who are struggling!( that's what I was told by the guide). So,as explained to the guide what I would spent with the hawkers, was spent at the ridiculous "entrance" fee. Do yourself a favour...buy a postcard instead! Worst experience on Bali! Let me explain why! And let me show alternatives. 1. Mass invasion of tourists. And with invasion I mean a never ending snake of people from bottom to top and back. No joke! On the top of mt. batur were at least 300 people. I Never expected sooooo much people. While watching sunrise other people walking around all the time, stand up in front of you for selfies etc. 2. Booking a guide, means booking someone showing you the way! Not more! Our guide told us nothing about history and geology of Mt. Batur. I knew more then him after reading Wikipedia article. But the guide never stopped asking us, if we like to have a longer tour (for more money of course). 3. Mafialike trekking agencies try to force you book a guide. (Mine was Arlinas) 4. Breakfast: = a joke, toast with egg and banana. 5. Equipment: another joke! Just a simple torch with not enough power. After 30min walk light was gone! Nothing else of equipment. 6. The price is horraible expensive for the provided service (300k per person) I was in a Group of 4 people after negotiation. 6. Last but not least the view. The view is beautiful that's true. But millions of views are beautiful while sunrise. Ok, if you still think I want to hike Mt. Batur... please don't or go without guide. The way up is no problem if you have the right shoes, torch and googlemaps. Just start from black lava hostel and follow the way to the Pura penataran agung temple, turn right and head to the Pura Payogaan temple (check Google maps). Follow the trail (5-10min) until you reach a shack where they sell water, etc. From here just follow the masses. If you want to see the sunset alone and without spending so much money, avoid Mt. Batur, rent a scooter and watch it from the south-west caldera of the volcano. This means nearly same angle to the sunrise and you got Mt. Batur, Mt. Abang, and Mt. Agung on your photos. Which is more impressive! Just give it a try. If you don't like it you can go next day to Mt Batur.

Spent 2 hours walking around Danau Batur. Really love that the lake comes with views of 3 magnificent mountains and the lake is surrounded by local villages instead of tourism. Beautiful blue sky accompanied with it. Tourists are non existent in this village. Love to be around locals and no other foreigners. We also love the fact that this place offers serenity and peace, in touch with nature. Lots of farm lands, locals and sound of crickets.

Absolutely stunning & peaceful place to visit. The view makes me calm & breathtaking. the temperature is cool even during afternoon. but to get here, you need a driver ‘supir’ because no scooter for rent available nearby.

Devil's Tears

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Devil's Tears, located on the stunning Nusa Lembongan island, is a breathtaking coastal spot that draws visitors from all over Bali. This picturesque overlook offers dramatic views of waves crashing against rocky cliffs, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle. The site is known for its unique cave pool and rugged beauty, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers.
Absolutely breathtaking! Watching the sunset at Devil’s Tear was one of the most beautiful experiences. The crashing waves against the cliffs create a dramatic backdrop, while the sky bursts into vibrant shades of orange, pink, and purple. The spray from the ocean catches the light perfectly—it’s pure magic. If you’re in Nusa Lembongan, this is a must-see spot for nature lovers and photographers.
Dawie M — Google review
Devil’s Tear is one of the most breathtaking spots on Nusa Lembongan! The power of the waves crashing against the cliffs is incredible to watch, and when the tide is strong you can feel the spray of the ocean. It’s a great place for dramatic photos, especially around sunset when the light makes the ocean glow. Be careful near the edge though — the rocks are sharp and the waves can be unpredictable. There are also small stalls nearby for drinks and snacks, which makes it a nice spot to relax while enjoying the view. Definitely a must-visit when you’re on the island!
Jody K — Google review
One of my highlights on the island. Stunning views especially for sunset. You can also use your ticket for the next day for a second entry so went once of the sunset and then during the day. Spectacular both times - the waves are huge and crushing against the shoreline makes for a spectacle. Be careful if you don’t want to get wet - some waves catch you unaware and before you know it your drenched if you’re close to the fence. There’s a little mini bar selling drinks for sunset or bring your own.

Best place in lembongan!! Definitely need to visit it. There's ticket for entry, the amount is totally worth it. The view is breathtaking! We went on weekend during sunset time, there was very less crowd. It has a proper park so you'll find joggers on the track here. The park is pretty huge, there are a lot of spots around. There's nice sitting place as well, so can sit and see the waves hitting the rocks.

My visit to Bali would not have been complete without exploring this incredible location. Honestly, it is one of the most naturally beautiful places I have ever experienced, and I had been looking forward to visiting it for a long time. Describing its beauty is quite challenging. The roar of the water, the sound of the waves, and the colors of the sea are mesmerizing—sometimes the water appears pure white, while at other times it’s a deep blue. It's truly hard to believe until you see it for yourself.
Sma S — Google review
Devil’s Tear on Nusa Lembongan is wild, powerful, and absolutely worth seeing. The waves smash into the cliffs and explode into huge sheets of spray, and when the light hits right you get that shimmering “tear” effect that feels otherworldly. It is one of those spots where you can feel the raw force of nature in your chest. But just so you are ready for it: this place is 100 percent a tourist funnel. Crowds gather at the edge for selfies, there are stalls selling snacks and overpriced drinks, and the whole experience leans into the “Instagram moment.” It is still stunning, just keep your distance from the edge, hold onto your hat, and expect the chaos that comes with a popular attraction. The view is unforgettable, the energy of the waves is intense, and if you treat it as a quick stop rather than a peaceful retreat, you will absolutely enjoy it.
Daniel P — Google review
Very special place, definitely worth visiting. It's a one visit sort of thing. Just know, that during the day the waves were big and impressive, at the sunset the waves are much more laid back when we were, and the effects much less exciting. But it's a beautiful place to just see the sunset also. You don't need to buy tickets in advance, they sell it there for 25k for adult and 15k for kids
Asaf D — Google review
Nature’s Drama at Its Finest – Devil’s Tear Is Absolutely Breathtaking Devil’s Tear is one of those places that leaves you in awe from the moment you arrive. Located on the rugged southwestern edge of Nusa Lembongan, this natural wonder offers a front-row seat to the raw, untamed beauty of the ocean. The name might sound ominous, but what you witness here is nothing short of mesmerizing. As waves crash against the jagged limestone cliffs, they explode into towering sprays of white mist, sometimes rising several meters into the air. It’s loud, wild, and hypnotic—like the ocean breathing with power and rhythm. The sunlight catches the mist just right, creating rainbows in the spray that feel almost magical. You could stand there for hours, simply watching nature put on a show. The surrounding landscape adds to the experience: dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and a horizon that seems to stretch into forever. If you visit during golden hour, the sunsets at Devil’s Tear are absolutely unforgettable. The fiery sky reflected in the crashing waves creates a visual spectacle that feels surreal—like something out of a painting. While it’s a popular spot, it never feels overly crowded, and the vast open space lets you find your own peaceful perch. Just be cautious—this is not a place to get too close to the edge, as the waves are unpredictable and fierce. Respecting the power of the sea here is part of what makes the experience so humbling and profound. Devil’s Tear is more than just a tourist stop—it's a place where you connect with nature on a visceral level. It's beautiful, dramatic, and a reminder of just how powerful and poetic the Earth can be. An absolute must-see when visiting Nusa Lembongan.

(Translated by Google) I think this is the best beach in Bali. There are not many people, it is very clean, there is no garbage in the water or on the shore. There are inexpensive cafes where the food is very tasty. To the left and right of the beach are rocks made of hardened lava. The place for photos is gorgeous. There are waves, sometimes even very strong, but for me personally, this is more a plus than a minus. Entrance to the beach is 10 thousand rupees per person. We came by moped from Bukit, the journey took about 1.5 hours.

The Liberty Wreck Dive in Tulamben is a popular spot for both beginner and experienced divers. This World War II shipwreck offers excellent visibility, gentle currents, and warm waters, making it an ideal dive site. The wreck has transformed into an artificial reef since it sank in 1942, providing a diverse marine habitat to explore. Divers can choose between air or nitrox dives and even opt for introductory dives if they're not certified.
I had 11 dives with Komang for four days. I felt like I'm hanging out and diving with a friend instead. He's friendly and he knows so much about the marine life. He found me so many macro creatures and even gave me advice on macrophotography! I would definitely come back to Tulamben and dive with Komang again. See you soon!

Huge praise to the amazing diving team at Liberty Wreck Dive! The whole crew was professional, friendly, and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout. The environment was perfect—calm, well-organized, and truly the best diving experience we’ve had in Tulamben, Bali. Unforgettable memories!

Komang led me on a fantastic dive on the Liberty Wreck in Tulamben. He was very professional and organised and made sure that I was always safe on my dive. The wreck was covered in beautiful corals and the sea life was prolific. We saw such a variety of small fish, as well as a white tip shark and giant turtle. Komang used his GoPro and took many beautiful short videos, which is a nice bonus as now I can look back on the dive and identity all the things I might have forgotten. I will definitely dive with this company again and highly recommend Komang.

I had a wonderful experience with Liberty Wreck Dive! The team was incredibly professional, friendly, and always went the extra mile to make sure every diver felt safe and well taken care of. We dove with Komang in Nusa Penida, Padangbai, even though his dive centre is actually in Tulamben. For our group of 7, he arranged 2 local dive masters from Padangbai, so we had 3 guides in total. Komang also joined us on day 2 and 3 to look after us, especially since the waters at Padangbai were quite rough. All of them were super attentive and skilled, which made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the dives — and we all came back safely. They were also very helpful with setting up our diving gear, and the boat was in great condition — clean and looking quite new.

Tirta Gangga is a serene spiritual retreat featuring stunning gardens and natural springs, offering opportunities for swimming and picnicking. The area surrounding Tirta Gangga is rich in tourist attractions, including the majestic Mount Agung, the Telaga Waja river for water rafting, the charming beach town of Candidasa, and the ancient village of Tenganan. Sidemen Valley is a hidden gem with beautiful rice fields, colorful markets, and a strong sense of community.
A peaceful and beautiful place, perfect for a relaxing visit. The gardens and water features are stunning, with spectacular views all around. There are some tourists, but it’s not overcrowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. While it’s possible to see everything in about 30 minutes, I highly recommend staying longer to truly enjoy the calm atmosphere and take in the peaceful surroundings. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful place located just off the road. Peaceful, colorful, and incredibly charming. A very vast area with many nooks and crannies that many people overlook. It's worth buying fish food at the local stalls. It's quite crowded, but the place is worth visiting for its unique charm. Paid parking is available on-site, with plenty of spaces. Restaurants serving good food and quick service are located both on-site and nearby, and prices are practically the same as everywhere else.

Tirta Gangga, the famous “Water Palace” in East Bali, feels like stepping into a dream woven from water, stone, and sunlight. Built by the royal family of Karangasem, this place is surrounded by lush gardens, clear ponds, and sacred springs that shimmer under the Balinese sky. 🌿 The stone paths float gently over the water, and as you step from one lotus-shaped stone to another, koi fish swirl gracefully beneath your feet. Every ripple feels alive — like time moves slower here. The sound of trickling fountains and the scent of blooming flowers make it a perfect escape from the world outside. There’s a quiet peace in this place — a balance between human art and nature’s beauty. You can sit by the pond, dip your fingers into the cool water, and feel a sense of calm that words can barely describe. It’s not just a sightseeing spot; it’s a place where your soul takes a deep breath. 🌸

We visited with the 1 Day Insta Tour Package on Trip Advisor and I personally recommend you book with them to get the best informed tour. This garden was once the King's private garden. It's now opened to the public for access and viewing. Although it still has practicioners coming here to meditate, it's still mostly opened to the public. The Koi fish in these ponds are majestic as you'll see in the accompanying videos and photos. The statue as well are just too fantastic 😍 for a first timer to Bali, visiting this Garden first will set the tone for your holidays ❤️💪👍

This was an absolutely beautiful and historic location that feels like stepping into a living postcard. The grounds are impeccably kept, with vibrant plants and flowers adding to the serene atmosphere. There are endless opportunities for stunning photos, including the famous Instagram-worthy stepping stone area, which surprisingly did not have too long of a line even during the busy season. The small museum on-site was both informative and interesting, giving context to the rich history of the site. Visitors were respectful and courteous, which made the experience even more enjoyable. This is a must-see stop for anyone looking to enjoy Balinese culture, history, and breathtaking scenery all in one visit.

We visited Tirta Gangga as part of our East Bali Tour programme. This is a very well maintained and clean place, which was used as a former water palace. We learned it was named after the sacred river Ganges in India. You can hop on and walk on stones to cross the ponds. There are so many well-fed and big koi fishes in ponds that look lovely. We had also visited Ubud Water Palace before, Tirta Gangga is bigger than that so it was worth visiting. There is also a cafe & restaurant you can sit and relax.
Didem A — Google review
I visited Tirta Gangga and it was truly a sight to behold. This former royal water palace is incredibly scenic — a gorgeous blend of tranquil pools, flowing fountains, lush gardens, and traditional stone statues. Everywhere you turn feels like stepping into a postcard. The grounds are beautifully laid out, with stepping stones that take you across the water and let you wander right through the ponds surrounded by koi fish. It’s peaceful and elegant, with a charming, almost dream-like atmosphere that makes you want to take your time exploring every corner. Tirta Gangga is also full of photo opportunities. From the famous stepping stones to the ornate structures and beautifully landscaped gardens, there’s no shortage of stunning backdrops. Whether you’re looking for serene scenery or iconic Bali shots, you’ll definitely find them here. Overall, Tirta Gangga is a must-visit if you enjoy history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. It offers a perfect mix of calm, beauty, and just enough adventure as you hop stone-to-stone through the water. A truly picturesque stop and one of Bali’s most charming sites.

A beautiful and historic water palace with a peaceful atmosphere. It was a good experience overall, though quite crowded when we visited. We didn’t manage to get any great shots ourselves, but many people do, it’s definitely a very photogenic spot. Tip: go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and get the best photos. Gili Trawangan, a small island in Indonesia, is known for its WWII Japanese tunnel, hotels, and an Irish pub. The island offers various activities such as diving and lounging on the beach with cool drinks under the hot sun. It has warm, shallow waters teeming with tropical marine life. Gili Trawangan also provides opportunities for exceptional diving, snorkeling, and surfing during the day and lively music, bars, and socializing at night.
beautiful island ❤️ I was there for one day tour. I tried snorkeling for the first time in my life. I was super happy that I made it. there's no words that can describe how beautiful the sea is. I love to see all the animals under the calm water. I will definitely be back soon🏝️

Gili T is truly a dream! The water is a beautiful turquoise and you can snorkel right from the beach. The coral is unique and I saw countless beautiful fish and turtles. The sunsets are also gorgeous! I rented a bike and it was great! The island vibe is unbeatable – no stress, just sunsets, palm trees, and happy people.

Would highly recommend if you’re looking for an island with some nightlife! Lots of live music on the main road and great atmosphere all around. The only issue I have with the island is the unethical treatment of the horses here. I would not advise you use them as transport unless you absolutely must, lots of them are severely overworked and dehydrated.
Emma K — Google review
My experience on Gili Trawangan, spanning four days, proved to be highly informative. The island's offerings, including bicycle exploration, local cuisine sampling, and snorkeling excursions, were exceptional. The scenic beauty of the locations was particularly striking.

There’s no frills in this review — just the real deal from my trip to paradise! Let’s dive right in 👇 Pearl of Trawangan This one’s a dream — from its gorgeous aesthetic to its perfect location. I didn’t get to stay here (it was sold out), but I wish I had. It’s far enough from the noisy main strip to feel relaxed, yet just a 10-minute walk if you want to join the action. Beach is right across the road. Pro tip: Don’t go to Gili T without swimming shoes — your feet will thank you. East Side of the Island (in front of Laguna Gili Beach Resort) Hands down the best spot for swimming and turtle spotting 🐢 The sand is soft and comfortable to walk on — no swimming shoes needed here. Rent a bike for 24 hours (around Rp50,000) and explore the island at your own pace. The full loop is about 8 km — take your time, stop for a drink, chat with locals, swim with turtles, and just enjoy the island vibes🏝️
Rukshana H — Google review
A beautiful island with great diving opportunities, but unfortunately it's all very commercialized. Unfortunately, there are a lot of electric scooters driving around here now, and some of them are going very fast. You really have to be afraid of getting run over because you can't hear them.
Torsten — Google review
Beautiful Island with Breathtaking Waters – But Know What to Expect Gili Trawangan is undeniably beautiful — crystal-clear waters, white sand, and stunning sunsets. It’s a fun island with a great energy, but it’s very geared toward tourism, which takes away a bit of its original charm. There’s a big backpacker and party crowd, mostly younger travelers, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying it as a family. It’s still very family-friendly if you stay in the quieter areas away from the port. We highly recommend booking a private boat for a smoother and more comfortable arrival. Once there, rent bikes and cycle around the island — it’s a lovely way to explore. Also, make sure to visit the nearby Gili islands for a day trip — they’re perfect for beach clubs, snorkeling, and a more laid-back vibe. Gili T is what you make of it — full of life, beauty, and adventure if you plan it right!
Kaori C — Google review
Beautiful island with scenic beaches and hotels. I loved it there. The only thing that really bothered me was the way poor working horses are treated - pulling wagons all day in the heat, with no water and food. Left standing at the sun. It's heartbreaking and animal cruelty. Local government must ban it and take care of the poor horses! It's 2025, there is no excuse to use horses!

Tanjung Aan Beach, located in the southern part of Lombok, is a stunning 2km stretch of white sand and turquoise waters. Legend has it that the beach is home to Princess Mandalika, who transformed into a sea worm to escape unwanted suitors. Accessible via a rugged trail road from Kuta, this beach remains relatively undiscovered by tourists. It features iconic swings along the sandy coastline and is popular among surfers and sunbathers.
Tanjung Aan Beach has stunningly blue water and soft white sand, creating a picture-perfect tropical view. However, during my visit there was quite a bit of seaweed scattered along the shore, which made the sand look a little messy. Still, the scenery and the clear water are absolutely worth seeing

Beautiful bay, easy to get to. Plenty of shady trees along the beach. Good surf for beginner to intermediate surfers (although busy) The usual vendors walking along the beach but they are not overly pushy and very friendly. Good place to relax. The western end of the beach/Bay is like a tip and full of rubbish and plastic. Breaks your heart to see that. The wind and tides seem to push it that way. It was filthy. The middle and East end (where the surf boats leave from) is much nicer and would recommend going there. When you turn into the road to the beach ride past the first entry on your right and keep going straight on the road. This will take to the middle of the beach. It's a nice walk along the beach when the tide is out.

Lovely beach, but be careful of this board shop owner called "Yoga". He hit me in the surf. We swam out to talk about the damages, and he proceeded to try and take my watch, punch and kick me, and eventually pulled a coconut machete on me, chasing me down the beach

The government came and destroyed every Warung. Now there are only one or two surfboard rentals left. It is very calm now and the sea is quiet. You can rent a board and a boat for 100.000 Rupiah and surf a little bit further out. It’s suitable for beginners and intermediate. I really enjoyed it there because you can totally relax in the shadow. Parking fee is 10.000. there is a little bit of trash where the water meets the beach but after a few meters the water is super clear!

Sendang Gile Waterfall Gate 2

Waterfalls
Sendang Gile Waterfall Gate 2 is a stunning two-tier cascade located at the base of Mount Rinjani in Senaru town, North Lombok.
There are 2 waterfalls here, takes about 15 mins to reach the first one, lots of steps up and down but proper, so still doable for most abled persons. The first waterfall is a smaller one, so going down near it just feels like getting into a light drizzle rain with a really cool breeze. From here we walked further in to the second one, this one requires a higher level of fitness, crossing mud paths, rock paths and ankle-deep river stream. There were a few times I felt the constraints of my short legs, having to stretch to the max to reach the next step. Luckily our young guides took very good care of us, providing extra anchor and support to lead us through. I felt bad for them at times, worrying that with my weight, I would end up pulling them off, causing them to fall over instead. Amazing sight at the bottom of the 2nd waterfall! The water pressure is so huge, just standing near it felt like we were caught in heavy rain. But the mist it created in the air, under the daylight, was dreamy. One may soak in the water (kinda cold though) and even go under the waterfall itself, but exercise caution. While it's not deep, the high pressure may be suffocating (as experienced by one of my friends). Proper footwear is highly recommended for this visit, my walking shoes which worked great for the first part were totally soaked thru by the time we got to the 2nd waterfall. Then we had to go back the way we came to exit the area. Enroute back, at the first waterfall, there's the option to pay for a motorbike ride back up, but the bikes looked small and the path looked tight. I was worried about falling off the bike and down the forest, so I passed on it. The entire journey from start to end took almost 2.5 hrs on foot, can be longer if we had more water fun at the waterfall.

Entry costs 20k per person. They'll try to sell you a guide for the waterfalls for 200k. It's a good way to support the locals, but if you want to go alone, that's no problem. We didn't see any monkeys, and the paths are well marked.

We really enjoyed our trip here. Hubby and I organised it with a local that we hired in the Gili Islands for a snorkling trip. The walk in is easy but there are steep steps at the end. It is well worth it. Going back we took a motorbike ride out with the locals at a small extra cost. I recommend checking it out.

Just like many others, we were told that we can’t enter unless we pay 400k for two persons and get the “obligatory” guide. The guy on the photo was one of the scammers. The other one - their boss smelled of alcohol and was the most aggressive. When we said we don’t have enough money, he escorted us to the atm and didn’t want to let go until we withdraw the money. Such a bad experience and the only one bad we had from the whole trip in Indonesia. Certainly not coming back to Lombok, which apparently doesn’t care much that scammers take over their island.

Steep steps but only for 15 minutes. Then you see a fantastic waterfall. You may be able to see little angry chimps there if you get lucky.

Amazing waterfall There are some local stalls to have some coffee☕️, tea 🍵 and some sweet to enjoy the serene waterfall. Just be aware of the monkeys 🐒, don’t feed them, else more will come 🐒 🐒 🐒 . The cost of the ticket is 20,000 IDR at the entrance. There is mo need to hire a guide as it is an easy trail. 😔There is no area to swim 🏊. You can continue to Tiu Kelep to enjoy a good dip.

This is a nice entrance and short walk to both waterfalls. Only talked into using a guide when we went in the afternoon but not in the morning (I went here twice as it was so nice). You don’t need a guide! There is another entrance further up the road and it’s a bit busier with a few cafes and bars along the road. Entrance fee is 20000 rupiah.

Need to walk a bit around 600m to reach Sendeng Gile waterfall. There a few stall which sells noodle and banana fritter. Overall great experiences.

Padar Island

Nature & Parks
Padar Island, located in the Komodo National Park near Labuan Bajo in Indonesia, is a picturesque destination known for its diverse wildlife and breathtaking panoramic views. The island boasts three distinct beaches with white, pink, and black sand. Visitors can embark on a 20-minute uphill hike to reach the main viewpoint and witness the stunning beauty of all three beaches from above.
Padar Island is the first stop on the day trip package with most touring operators. You get to climb the top of the hill here and see some breathtaking views of the nature, the hike is worth the effort. The steps are easy to climb on except at the last section where it gets a little difficult for people who are mostly sedentary otherwise.

This piece of island is simply stunning. Upon reaching the island, you’ll be greeted by the carefree and beautiful deers that reside there. We had the good fortune of arriving earlier, so the crowd wasn’t there. We made the ascent, which takes around 20-30 minutes depending on your fitness level. However, there are stops along the way with breathtaking views and photo opportunities. But the best part comes when you reach the summit. You’ll be glad you made it here, and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The crystal-clear waters along the curved shoreline, the waves crashing against the rocks, and the entire backdrop are too magnificent to be described in words. We spent a few minutes enjoying the peace and quiet before the place started to fill up with people. Luckily, we got what we needed. 😊

It was a significant hike if 815 steps but the breathtaking view makes it totally worth it! Wear sneakers instead of slippers and bring your water coz you will sweat. Not recommended for unfit aged persons

Padar Island is one of the most famous and photographed destinations within **Komodo National Park** in Indonesia, renowned for its incredible panoramic views. 1. Iconic Viewpoint and Beaches The Famous View: The main draw is the relatively short, but steep, hike to the island's summit. From the top, you get a breathtaking 360-degree vista of the rugged, savannah-covered island and its three crescent-shaped bays. Tri-Colored Beaches: What makes the view unique is that the three bays visible from the top each have a beach with a different colored sand: White Sand,Black Sand(volcanic in origin),Pink Sand (due to pulverized red coral mixing with the white sand, similar to the famous Pink Beach nearby) 2. Location and Access Location:Padar is the third-largest island in Komodo National Park, situated between Komodo Island and Rinca Island in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Access:The island is uninhabited and is visited primarily by boat tours. Starting Point:The gateway to the park, and Padar Island, is Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores. Travel Time: A boat trip from Labuan Bajo to Padar Island typically takes about 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the type of boat (speed boat is faster). Tour Options:Most visitors take a day trip or are on a multi-day liveaboard tour that includes Padar, Komodo, Rinca, and Manta Point. 3. Hiking and Activities The Hike:The trek to the viewpoint is generally considered moderately challenging due to the steep incline, but it's short, usually taking 30-45 minutes to reach the top. The trail now features a mix of wooden stairs, stone steps, and dirt path sections. Best Time to Hike: To avoid the intense heat, most tours aim for a sunrise or late afternoon/sunset hike for the best golden light for photography. Other Activities:Visitors can also swim, relax on the different colored beaches, or enjoy snorkeling/diving in the surrounding clear waters, which are known for rich marine life. 4. Important Note No Komodo Dragons:While the island is part of Komodo National Park, Padar Island is largely free of the famous Komodo dragons (though historically they were present). For dragon sightings, you will need to visit the neighboring Komodo Island or Rinca Island with a park ranger.

Padar Island is a rugged, volcanic island in Komodo National Park, Indonesia, known for its stunning panoramic views, diverse beaches, and dramatic landscapes. Visitors hike to the summit for iconic viewpoints and can find beaches with white, black, and even pink sand on a single island. The best time to visit depends on weather and crowd preferences, with a peak season from June to August and a shoulder season from April to May or September to October

Arrive here at arround 8 AM and already packed up with tourist, recommend to go here at low season so it does not get to crowded when you arrive at the top, the views from the top viewpoint are incredible and really worth with the hike with many steps. The beach is also very beautiful

The morning at Padar Island felt like stepping into a dream. As the first light began to touch the sky, the soft hues of orange and pink painted the hills and sea in the most magical way. The air was cool and gentle, carrying the faint sound of birds chirping from somewhere between the cliffs a natural melody that made the whole island feel alive 🏝️ Climbing up to the viewpoint before sunrise was a bit challenging, but every step felt worth it once I reached the top. Standing there, watching the sun slowly rise over the three curved bays, I felt this quiet sense of awe. The view was beyond words layers of golden light kissing the ocean, calm waves shimmering, and the soft rustle of morning wind brushing through the grass. If you ever visit, come early. Listen to the birds, watch the sky change colors, and let the beauty of the island fill your heart. It’s not just beautiful it’s legendary. 🌅

Padar Island is actually insane. The hike is lowkey a workout but the view at the top is just breath taking and genuinely worth every single step. The layered hills and different coloured waters look unreal, like straight out of a wallpaper or drone edit. The scenery is so aesthetic it does not feel real at all. If you are into nature, photos, or just chasing main character moments, this place delivers. Pure vibes, pure beauty, 10/10 must visit if you are anywhere near Komodo.
