Very peaceful, beautiful and an important place in the film history perspective. Better to visit in monsoon or the winter season, else the scorching sun will not allow your sense of relaxation to exist. Tender coconut is a bit costly, wondered why the land of coconut has become like this. There are other places better than this nearby. Need atleast two days to completely experience this out.

Aliyar Dam is in Tamil Nadu but it is part of the Parambikkulam-Aliyar Project. The dam is a good tourist destination. You can spend some time on the dam viewing the deep blue water in the reservoir and the surrounding hills. It is an excellent spot for photos. Usually there are several tourists on the dam. If you go there in the evening you will love the dam and the surroundings in the fading light.

One of my favourite dams in Tamil Nadu is this one. ​I love this place for its serene and nature-bound atmosphere. The dam offers a fantastic view of Valparai and other mountains. ​Don't miss the stunning view from atop the dam. Be sure to walk the full length to witness more scenic views of the bridge, the flowing water, and the surrounding mountains. The entire area seems to be covered with coconut trees. ​The small entry fee is well worth it to enjoy the beauty of the place. It's especially beautiful to visit on non-summer days. You'll find many small eateries outside the dam. ​This is a place you shouldn't miss when you're in Pollachi.

Aliyar Dam is a charming location surrounded by Annamali Hills with wonderful natural views. It is located between Pollachi and Valparai. The dam's location amidst the Western Ghats provides a stunning backdrop, and the surrounding hills and reservoir offer picturesque views. Mango orchid and coconut trees on the one side and hills and water on the other side. Absolute beauty. Entry fee is 5 ₹ person and 20₹ to carry mobile phones inside. Note they don’t accept UPI at the counter , so carry cash. Inside the premises they have various play stations - swings toy trains and many other kids play games - few of them are paid entry. You have to walk to the top of the damn via stairs - close to 100 steps .

Aliyar Dam, located a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Coimbatore city, is a scenic spot that’s perfect for tourists and nature enthusiasts. The combination of the serene dam waters, lush greenery, and towering mountains creates a picturesque setting that’s ideal for relaxing and clicking beautiful photos. The entry fee is quite affordable, just ₹5 per person for access to the garden attached to the dam. If you plan to take pictures using your mobile, there’s an additional ₹20 photography fee. The garden is well-maintained with smaller fountains adding to its charm. After exploring the garden, you can climb the stairs to get closer to the dam. One side of the dam is bordered by the scenic garden, while the other side is flanked by magnificent mountains, making it an incredible sight. Outside the garden, you’ll find some small vendors selling fruits and snacks, although they tend to charge slightly more as it’s a tourist area. However, during my visit, I didn’t see any vendors inside the garden itself. There are also a few shops near the entrance where you can grab some food. For families with children, the kids’ play area inside the garden is a thoughtful addition. If visiting during the daytime, especially in hot weather, it’s advisable to carry water bottles and a cap to stay comfortable. The best time to visit is in the evening when the weather is cooler and the views are even more magical. Parking facilities are available outside the garden, making it convenient for those arriving in private vehicles.

The food, stay and the hospitality by the tribal people was awesome. The only place we had issues with the guide. Better to plan in Feb or March as you can see many animals due to summer. Kudos to the food preparation

Excellent place. The rooms are neat and clean. In the morning, I saw a beautiful peacock sitting on the fence and saw a giant squirrel. This place is much more suitable for people visiting groups where you can get 6 rooms in the same place.

A guest house inside a deep forest maintained by kerela eco tourism. You can spot deers peacocks and sometimes elephants near this stay. The overall experience is amazing. But only drawback was even if drinking and smoking is banned here few tourist were drinking and smoking and created lot of chaos there. That ruined the place. Do not do that

the Eravikulam National Park would be good but the visitors are allowed only very very limited access. Secondly, There is no control on local village vehicles and both the Forest department vehicles and the local villager vehicles ply too fast which will affect the animal movement. Thirdly, we had hired a exclusive electrical vehicle for visit. wildlife sighting was limited to Lion-tailed macaque. the Vehicle driver had limited knowledge of wildlife of maybe a communication problem. Paying Rs 7500/ seemed too high, given the experience. the forest department should take care of these issues. The VR Show of Eravikulam National Park was good. The Eravikulam National Park has endangered Nilgiri Tahr, along with mammals like the Gaur, Sambar Deer, Nilgiri Langur, tiger, and leopard. The park is also a significant bird habitat, with 132 species recorded, including endemics such as the black-and-orange flycatcher and Nilgiri pipit. unlike we were not able to experience the wildlife, just the drive, most of which was lovely tea estates. A sincere request to forest department, to control vehicle speed and the noise pollution by vehicles

Brilliant place to visit if you love nature and magnificent views. A bus takes you from the entrance of the park to a quarter of the way up. After that you can walk to up to half way. It is not a long walk about 20 minutes at a slow pace. The views are magnificent and there are many springs and waterfalls along the way. I wish the path went up further and there were more different paths. It would be a hikers paradise.

A natural way and big walk. Enjoy a bit of nature. But nothing special otherwise than a walk up the hill. Could be strenuous for old or heart patients. Overall it's okay place. We didn't see any animals.

It's a beautiful place between fog and clouds. Eravikulam National Park is home of endangered species (Nilgiri Tahr) and many special species of plants and flowers!! And yes nature is mashallah❤️ But if you are going to see Nilgiri Tahr don't go, visibility of Nilgiri Tahr is very rare . So enjoy the nature don't expect anything. But yes we have seen wild elephants.

The water body is well maintained, pollution free. there are different varieties of boat rides. Speed boat gives an awesome adventurous feel, a must try. If you lucky can see elephants and bison come to the dam territory to drink water. good place to enjoy and have fun. Tickets can be booked online which is preferable rather than buying tickets over the counter which leads to wait time.

It’s a nice scenic place with a beautiful dam surrounded by greenery. The water looks clean, and you can even enjoy boating here it costs around ₹400 for 30 minutes. There’s also horse riding available, and you can get your photos clicked with a professional camera for about ₹100 per big photo. Apart from that, there are small shops, street food stalls, and a few local items to explore. Overall, it’s a good place for a one-time visit and to spend a relaxed day outdoors.

A visit to Mattupetty Dam presents breathtaking views of a serene lake, enveloped by verdant landscapes and mist-shrouded hills. The peaceful ambiance makes it an ideal location for relaxation and immersion in nature. This area is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, offering opportunities for boating and other water-based activities. Pedal boats, speedboats, and rowboats are available, providing an enjoyable experience for families, couples, friends, and adventure seekers alike. However, the heavy traffic in and around the dam can be a source of inconvenience. The area can become quite congested, often resulting in traffic delays. The presence of large buses navigating the single-lane road across the dam can contribute to traffic congestion, particularly during peak seasons. Nevertheless, by venturing a short distance away from the crowded areas, one can discover a peaceful atmosphere, escaping the chaos and fully appreciating the dam's scenic beauty.

Dam not big in size with free entry and small market for shopping, completed in 1953 for hydroelectricity purposes, is set amid lush mountains and dense foliage of eucalyptus trees. If you're lucky, you can see different wildlife species at Mattupetty Dam such as elephants, bison, deer and birds. You can also visit the nearby Eravikulam National Park or Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary for more wildlife spotting opportunities.

The dam itself has a narrow road with two way movement of vehicles and tourists + those visiting passing through. The parking lot is prone to puddles of water with light rain. The reservoir (lake) is picturesque, particularly when the mist is descending. There's boating for those who are interested. Is it a must-see? Perhaps a bit underwhelming for many, but you need to pass this place to visit Echo Point and other attractions further away.

A small park to have enjoyable with your kids and family. You have to pay additional fees other than the entry fee of 50 Rs., for paddle boating and small adventures. The Jungle park is not crowded, it offers you unlimited fun and thrill with Tree adventure rides, Go-carts, Caves, Trampolines, swings, slides, a pool, rain forest, Bamboo rafts, Kayaking, Kottavanchi, paddle boating, fishing, kids play zone, fun games, treehouse, restaurant, and Ice cream parlor, etc. But the activities are not well maintained. Some of the rides are not working.

Seems to be a good place for kids. We visited on Dec 2023 and was not fully in operation. Lots of works were going on. Boating and other water activities were not there while we visited.

A small park located on the way to bhoothathankettu. Specifically for small kids there are plenty of materials for kids to play such as swings, small cars, other activities etc. The park is just close to the river and we can see the beautiful view from the park and some chairs are also available to sit and spend evening with kids. The park not crowded most of the times. No dedicated Parking space available but still there is lots of parking space available outside close to the road.

A small park very well recommended for children especially btwn the age of 3 to 10. There parents also can feel free they have activities like pedal boating, kayaking, water rollers etc. The park is very calm and cool, me and my family entered the park during a visit to bhoodathankettu, though it was a very sunny day after entering the park u feel refreshed even at hot midday. The available restaurant is shaving only lite snacks no meals or heavy food available nowadays (maybe bcoz of less crowd due to corona). Adventure activities are not well maintained ,not sure if they can be utilised. Like obstacle run, horizontal bridge, etc. If that too get a proper maintenance the park will be a destination for all age of people. Conclusion A destination which can be considered as a pitstop for those how are going to bhoodathankettu.

It's a small park. Good place to bring kids so that they can hangout for few hours. Onside of the park is river, where you can do kayaking and pedal boating. A small rainforest is also built with a pool underneath, kids would love this. Small ropeways, restaurant and tyre walking is also there, but was not functional.

Nice... The dam is quite beautiful to watch... You can go inside the forest with entry pass of rupess 50..A guide came along with us and his charge was 300 rupees for 3 persons... You can go without guide also.....There's a small cave and erumadam there....can fetch some good pics...Overall nice experience

A former Tata group owned factory/museum dedicated to rich history of beginning of tea plantation era and story of bringing eucalyptus tree in the Munnar valley. Located within 10 km radius of munnar city. Must visit place if you want to know about the history of tea plantation, settlement of Tamil people in Malayalam speaking state. The stuff of bygone era beautifully preserved. Also one can witness making of ctc tea from raw tea leaves excellently demonstrated and told. Also came to know about difference of white leaves, first flush etc. Truly knowledgeable journey. There is shop also adjacent the tea factory where one can purchase tea at reasonable price of his choice.

Its location is beautiful as it is situated in the valley of tea plantation but I was not too impressed with their management. First the tickets can only be bought by cash was a bit of a hassles for us. Inside it was crowded and we were rushed in all the rooms where antiques were, later a huge crowd were given the demo which was a bit difficult to follow from distance among the crowd. I would recommend to find other private tours which we did later and it was a short group and more detailed one.

It's about 1 hour to reach there on foot from the Munnar town market like me in a muddy and gloomy rainy day, but could have been a way shorter time if it was a good sunny weather! On the way, there were only private tour cars and 🛺 auto rickshaws, which threw water splash all over me unfortunately, which i believe they didn't mean, but it was what it was. All my clothes and shoes were soaking wet reaching there and back to my hotel in the town on foot since I was already soaked. One good side is not about the tes museum, the tea plantation along was gorgeous and enjoyed breaking some time to capture the moments! The tea museum is quite small in size and just ok for one time visit, nothing special! There is a equally as big as a gift shop right next to it. One mystery thing is that I couldn't locate any toilet facility in there where i was hoping to clean up my muddy shoes, perhaps I couldn't find one.

We visited tea gardens during our trip from munnar to Thekkady. Tea garden owner charged Rs. 50/- for per person visit for that. Although it's nothing in front of scenic beauty. Must visits the tea gardens. Kalari kshetra We visited the show in the evening. It's live show of traditional warriors and their war heads. We enjoyed it very much, All the warriors performances were very wonderful and Commendable. Must visit

We spent several very interesting hours watching the process to give everyone their cup of tea! Firstly there is a film which gives the background history. The set up which is a village of workers and includes hospital, Nursery, school and housing. A job for life ! The tea gardens are all around, miles and miles of small hills covered in tea. It is a very skilful job knowing which leaf to take. We went around the factory seeing the processes involved. The staff showing us fiercely proud. At the end we had a cup of tea of course and just like theme parks the obligatory shop on the way out!

Cheeyappara Waterfalls is a stunning sight right along the Kochi–Munnar highway — you can’t miss it. The cascading water over the rocks looks beautiful, especially during or just after the monsoon. It’s a great roadside stop to take photos, enjoy some fresh air, and grab tea or snacks from the small stalls nearby. Parking can get busy on weekends, but the view is absolutely worth the quick break. A perfect start to your Munnar trip!

This waterfall falls on the way to Munnar from Kochi airport. Since we visited during May when it started raining we happen to catch a glimpse of this waterfall enroute. Not a great fan of crowded place but only the waterfall was good. Since it was afternoon when we visited this place, there were a lot of visitors around which made it very unpleasant experience for us. We just halted for 5 mins , clicked few pictures and we left the premises as soon as we can. Tip: try to visit this waterfall early morning so that the place is crowdless and the experience is great. I wouldn't recommend anyone to spend and time here.

Cheeyappara Waterfalls, located along NH 85 (Kochi–Madurai Highway) near Chillithodu, is one of the most beautiful roadside waterfalls in Kerala. The best part is that you don’t need to take a long trek to enjoy it—the falls are clearly visible right from the highway, making it a perfect stop for travelers heading towards Munnar. From Kochi, it takes about 2–3 hours by road (around 48 km before Munnar), and from Munnar town, it’s just a 40–minute drive. Public buses and cabs regularly pass this route, so reaching here is very easy. The waterfall cascades down several rocky steps, creating a refreshing and picturesque view, especially during the monsoon season when it flows in full glory. Entry is completely free for everyone, and there are small shops nearby for tea, snacks, and souvenirs. A wonderful roadside attraction, Cheeyappara Waterfalls is definitely worth a visit on your Munnar trip!

Activities - No swimming allowed; viewing is the chief pastime. Food Options - There are many food stalls and some restaurants in the vicinity. Drawback - It can become fairly crowded.

It is a Must visit place in Kochi. A unique and good experience along the side of the coast. The fisherman will do a lot of fishing on the sea shore. The mechanism is quite simple yet thoughtful. A few places give a demonstration about how it's done, we got a chance to see the entire mechanism because we had joined a bigger group. Lots of variety of fishes are available of various sizes. You can also purchase along the side and get it cooked in your stay if they allow.

Great place for viewing Arabian sea. You can watch the ships entering and leaving channel. Lot of food joints in around the Bay. Fresh seafood restaurants are there

If you are looking for a sunset backed pic of the Chinese fishing nets, try to reach before 6pm (check local timing for sunset). We unfortunately reached just after sunset but luckily still got some okay pics. There are many shops where you can check out fresh catch and ask for it to be prepared right in front of you. I am sure it will be pricey but should be okay for a one time experience. There is a sunset view point a little ahead of the Chinese fishing nets which you should visit. The ferry is awesome from Marine Drive (High Court Junction) which costs just 40 bucks. AC ferry which is very well maintained

We just made it in time for the Kathakali show here, and I’m so glad we didn’t miss it. The makeup starts at 4:30 PM, and they do it right on stage so the audience can see the whole transformation — honestly, that itself felt like part of the show. The theatre is calm and welcoming, with devotional music and even a nice fragrance around, which made the experience feel special. Before the main performance, they explained the grammar of Kathakali — the expressions, eye movements, and hand gestures — and it was absolutely fascinating. The actual play started at 6 PM, and I was blown away — the makeup, the live instruments, the narration-singing, everything came together beautifully. You can really feel the love for culture in every detail. They also have a small shop at the back with souvenirs like oils, magnets, and antiques. Overall, it’s one of those experiences that stays with you — I’d definitely watch it again.

Fantastic experience at the Kathakali Centre. The staff are caring and committed to preserving the deep artistic heritage of Kerala, showcasing the various traditional artisans with respect and love. You see a small glimpse of performances, guaranteed to inspire you to seek out the full day long performances in the future. We watched an hour long Kathakali show, and a short demonstation of Kalari as well, both were fascinating in their own ways. I wish the centre a lot of success!! Please do visit and support the arts and culture of Kerala!

After 6 month wait, finally we could make it last week. We witnessed the Kathakali performance (including makeup) and Kalaripayatu(martial arts). Excellent performance by the artists in both shows. Good seating arrangements, light and sound. Ease of contacting and booking, courteous hosting and punctuality. Over the years, it has become the only active synagogue in Kochi (“Jew Town”) out of originally several. It’s not just a place of worship — it’s a living monument to the Jewish presence in Kerala, preserving a rare architectural and cultural legacy. The synagogue is a whitewashed building with a pitched clay-tiled roof — designed to handle Kerala’s heavy monsoons. Clock Tower: One of the most distinctive features is its square, three-story clock tower, added in the mid-1700s by Ezekiel Rahabi. Each of its four faces has clock dials in different numeral systems: Hebrew, Roman, Malayalam, and Arabic. Visited on Chingam (malayalam month 1st day) sunday, so there was huge rush Usually there's puja that starts from 7am & last till 8am so one might experience extreme weight time when visiting. There's 2-3 parking place but might be crowded if visiting during peak hours & weekend day's. Especially morning times. There's lot of history and temple is well maintained. Washroom aren't available.

The moment I stepped inside the temple premises, I could feel the divine energy and blessings of Amme Narayana, Devi Narayana echoing in every corner. The early morning Guruthi Pooja and the chanting of mantras create an atmosphere that touches the soul and brings a deep sense of peace. The temple is beautifully maintained, and the priests perform every ritual with great devotion. I felt a strong spiritual connection as if the Goddess herself was guiding and protecting me. It is believed that Bhagavathi here cures mental and physical ailments, and I truly felt her healing presence. If you are seeking blessings, inner peace, or spiritual strength – this temple is a must-visit. More than just a pilgrimage, it felt like a divine calling. I left the temple with a peaceful heart and renewed spirit.

Such a powerful temple, really loved the place. I reached around 6 AM, and all facilities like dormitory, bathroom, restroom and cloak room are available just nearby. Mobile phones you can keep in silent mode. From 7 to 8 AM, poojai will be going on, so you will have to wait around one hour in the queue.

Dwarapalakas are at the entrance of sanctum sanctorum. In sanctum sanctorum Sree Bhagavathi Amman is about 7 feet tall with 4 hands. The upper hands holds shankha and chalra and lower hands are in abhaya varada hastam. Idol of Mahavishnu made out of Saligrama is on the same pedestal along with Bhagavathi Amman and so the Deity is called Ammenarayana, Devinarayana, Lakshminarayana and Bhadrenarayana also. Along with Lakshmi & Narayana there are idols of Brahma, Siva, Ganapati (Ganesh), Subramanya, and Sastha on the same pedestal. In the thiruchuttambalam /outer praharam Kizhukkavu Bhagavathy temple, Sastha, Siva, Ganapati, Nagas and Kshetrapalakas and other Upa-Devas. Keelakarai Bhagavathy/ Keezhkkavu Bhagavathi Amman temple is about 200 meters from the main temple. Ayyappan temple on the way to the Keelakarai Bhagavathy Amman Temple. ARCHITECTURE The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam, Namaskara mandapam, Nalammbalam, thiruchuttambalam. Sanctum sanctorum is square in plan on a pada bandha adhistanam. The temple was constructed with stone from adhistanam to parastaram. A two tier nagara/ pyramidal Kerala style vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. The namaskara mandapam is with an elevated level platform and pyramidal vimanam. HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS It is believed the original temple belongs to 10th century CE, constructed during Chera period. Since the temple was built with wood, the temple underwent many renovations. The temple received contributions from, Cheras, Pandyas, Venadu, Travancore Kings, etc. KIZHUKKAVU TEMPLE On the eastern side of the temple pond stands the Kizhukkavu temple.The temple faces west (faces Chottanikara Bhagavathi temple). It is believed that the presiding deity was installed by Vilwamangalam Swamiyar. After the Athazha pooja (main pooja in the evening), the chief priest of the principal deity comes to Kizhukkavu to perform the famous and great pooja "ValiyaGuruthy" (great Sacrifice). The Guruthy is prepared in 12 cauldrons (huge vessel) and is performed at about 8.45 p.m every night. Those who witness the guruthy performance, which itself is awe inspiring and prolonged ceremony, finds it an experience which is indescribable. Being present here during Valiya guruthy on Fridays permanently cures women suffering from mental abnormalities like schizophrenia. An ancient 'Pala' tree standing on the northeastern side of the sanctum sanctorum is covered with long iron nails hammered on by haunted victims with their foreheads.

The pine forest with its mighty old trees was picture perfect. You should visit this place in early monsoon and late monsoon. The way the moss covers the tree trunks are something out of a fairy tale. The place has a mystic sense of beauty and adventure. The parking is wheelchair accessible but that's it. The minute you step into the forest you gotta be able to trust your legs and lungs. The climb down is easy and fun, you could go all the way down to see the creek that flows gently right beneath. But the climb back up is bound to break those sweat glands and give your lungs a run for their money. But don't let that keep you away from its beauty. As they say, the most beautiful places require the hardest climbs.

Pine valley forest as it is known and called is located on the right side the road when you are nearing Vagamon when coming from Elapara. Just after the main gate of Kerala Veterinary and Livestock University is this place. There is a paid parking place or try to park along the left side of the road while coming from Elapara. There is enough parking space on the left side of the road in front of the University campus which is greenery. The entrance fee per adult is Rs. 10/-. You have to walk 200 mtrs from the entrance to reach the pine valley. There are a lot of way side shops where you can buy home made chocolates, sweets, tea dust or tea leaves etc. I suggest buy home made chocolates only after eating a piece as most of the these chocolates are not at all sweet. Mostly good for diabetes people as it is not sweet but can be eaten with the feeling it is chocolate. Inside the pine trees campus you have to walk down the hill fully covered with pine trees and so can stay out of the sun rays and heat. Better to visit during afternoon if you are on a one day tour as it gives relief from the hot sun which you experience visiting the Vagamon meadows and Thangalpara etc. If you are visiting Vagamon on a one day tour or plan to leave Vagamon via Elapara towards the end of the day I advice to visit Pine Valley towards the end of the sightseeing as from pine valley you can leave directly to Elapara. There is a Kudumbasree Hotel at the entrance of pine valley where you can get homely food at moderate prices. Happy sightseeing

Good place to visit. Pleasant climate once we enter the forest. Steep and uneven pathway to walk. That's a small difficulty for some people. Else good place for photography. Lot of shops from entrance till forest. We can have snacks, buy things for kids and adults and much more.

one of the most famous things about the Vagamon hills is the pine forest. Vagamon Pine Forest is a region with acres occupied by magnificent Pine trees thriving in the environment on steep slopes which is very unique to the region. This man-made forest was created during the British era and today also it is standing tall and beautiful. Even at noon, when the sun is very strong, the heat of sun does not penetrate and keeps the land very cool. It is worth taking some time to relax in the middle of pine trees enjoying the cool weather

One Awesome lifetime experience. Haven’t ever played with an elephant this close. A professional handling came here. Affordable. So considerate and friendly staffs. Peaceful ambiance. Enjoyed a lot. Packages of all ranges available here from specific rides to full day package. The staffs were so genuine and made necessary arrangements for us. The elephant ride was like 15-20 mins and bathing and feeding elephants was around 20-25 mins. Totally had a wait time like 10 mins each. This place had a neat dress changing rooms with heater provisions and neat and clean rest rooms too. The small hut cafe was so neat and got freshly prepared food too. Great. Unforgettable experience

If you want to have a close encounter with elephants this is the place. You can have elephant ride too short though a nice experience. Since it was raining we couldn't explore other activities like elephant bathing, log lifting etc. You may be able to take pics with elephant. The mahout may expect some tips from u. It is advisable to book ur slot to avoid ques especially during holidays and peak days.Overall it was a nice experience.

Though my wife was a bit scared at first, the caretakers were so kind and reassuring that she ended up enjoying it thoroughly. The waterfall jeep safari was equally exciting, with beautiful scenic views and a thrilling off-road ride. Altogether, it was a perfect mix of adventure and nature — a must-try for anyone visiting

It was an amazing experience! The Kalari martial arts performance was fantastic, especially the last 15 minutes with the fire display – truly thrilling to watch. After the show, you can also take photos with the artists, which is a nice touch. The Kathakali show was equally mind-blowing. The performance was powerful, and the singer’s voice added so much depth to the storytelling. Photos with the artists are allowed at the end here as well. Show timings: 6:00 – 7:00 PM: Kalari 7:00 – 8:00 PM: Kathakali Charges: ₹150 per person (kids free). Overall, it’s absolutely worth the visit if you’re in Thekkady!

Extremely worth seeing and understand the dance form and marshal art of Kerala. These two traditional forms were never displayed and explained better before. Hats off to the artists and participants who are so devoted and keeping these art forms alive. The centre is located in the center of Thakkady and easily accessible. Strongly Recommendation to visit this center to witness rich heritage of our country.

We visited around 11:00 am. First buy a entry ticket at the parking area then wait for the forest bus to pick up and then the journey starts. Once you reach the forest you have to buy boating tickets for ride, if u don't want to ride then you can also visit surrounded areas of the lake by other ways like trekking or walking. We reached late and by the time there was no boat for the ride and the next ride was after one hour so it was not worth the ride. So we take pictures at the entry point of the lake and nearby surrounding areas.

The safari lasts for one and a half hours and provides an amazing opportunity to see wildlife along the lake's banks. To access the boat safari, I took a bus from the city, where there is excellent paid parking available. This was very convenient for me, as I traveled from Bangalore in my own vehicle. The parking area is spacious and very safe. The ticket counter for the bus, which takes you to the starting point of the boat safari, is located at the end of the parking lot. The bus journey took about half an hour. There are various time slots available for the boat safari, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. I chose the 1:45 PM to 3:15 PM slot. All the staff involved in the management were very helpful and humble, enhancing the overall experience. After finishing the boat ride, the return bus took us back to the same parking lot, and we did not need to buy bus tickets again. I forgot to carry binoculars, but if you want to watch the wildlife closely, it's a must-have. Photography enthusiasts should definitely bring zoom cameras. I visited in October, and the weather was pleasant, making the experience even more enjoyable. Periyar Boat Safari is a must-visit for nature lovers, offering a blend of adventure and serenity.

This lake is inside the national park . The ticket price is 250 each for boat in this park and lake visit. The bus will take you from tickets counter to the park and then the ticket for boat ride. There is cafeteria and complex too. It’s an 1.5 hour boat ride and the way is too beautiful. If you are lucky then you will watch birds and animals there drinking water at the bank of the lake. Also camping and staying available there . We had morning batch boat and the views are too good .

Plan your day accordingly because there are lots of thing to do here Periyar lake boating is common here and if your are planning to do it kindly book you ticket in advance no offline ticket is possible here . It's a boat ride for 3 hours on Periyar Lake in the Periyar National Park. Upward journey takes 1.5 hrs and downward journey takes 1.5 hrs. You can find some wild animals like sambars, elephants, tigers (if you are lucky enough). You will certainly find the Sambars as they are more in number. We had found 4 cute Cubs but from a long distance, watched them on Binocular. The ticket price is ₹255 which is very reasonable price for 3 hrs ride.

It is located 881 m (2,890 ft) above the sea level, on the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats in Thekkady, Idukki District of Kerala, India.

From Periyar bus stand taken to jetty and carried out boat ride. One can purchase tickets at jetty itself if done earlier online. Excellent arrangements. One can opt for green walk also. The Periyar National Park was very nice and calm & very nearby to my stay. The boat ride was amazing. Our guide on the boat explained everything really well. The environment is very well maintained and preseved by the locals. It is a tourist worthy place. It was a peaceful 1.5 hours on the waters.

My visit to Periyar National Park was an amazing experience. I went bamboo rafting, took a boat safari. Rafting program includes 7 km trek into the forest and the rafting. It's lasted about an hour for one way. Although animal sightings were few, the trek and overall natural beauty made it worthwhile. If you’re hoping for more wildlife, the best time to visit is between April and May the animals will more easily spotted.

We choosed Nature walk activity at 7:30 am. It was a beautiful journey inside the forest along the lake side with a guide. While walking we heard sounds of forest crickets, singing birds, and loud noises produced by apha male langurs jumping from trees to trees. We got lucky to catch a glimpse of rare black sloth bear and spotted many wild fauna in their habitat such as Sambar deer, nilgiri tahr, giant squirrel, nilgiri langurs, forest spiders, wood peckers, hornbill and king fishers. We also spotted pugmark of a tiger which was a thrilling experience as just to know that a tiger was there on the same path of ours just a few hrs back. We booked our tickets from tourist information centre located near bamboo grove and their ticket centre in Kumily. However, one can easily book tickets online. There are lots of activities they provide like bamboo rafting, trekking, different types of walk, safari, boating and many more. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the forest as the tourism here is restricted by the forest dept of the Kerala state govt. Cafes and canteen available ✔️ Restroom 🚻 available ✔️ Highly recommended to pre-book the tickets for any of your choice of activities. We really enjoyed this journey and found this an excellent option to get digital detox through this forest tranquility.

We were lucky to spot elephants, deer, and several bird species during our visit — a perfect place for nature and wildlife lovers. The peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty of the forest make it a must-visit in Kerala. Highly recommend taking the early morning Nature walk and Green walk for the best experience!

truly a beautiful spot to visit. The surroundings are calm with a cool breeze that refreshes the mind. There’s plenty of parking space, and the adult entry ticket is ₹70. It’s best to visit on normal days, as weekends and holidays can get very crowded. Private vehicles are not allowed near the falls since it’s a forest area, but the office provides shuttle buses (two are available) to take visitors from the parking area to the waterfall. The staff and security are very friendly and helpful—one security officer even helped us take pictures. There are small shops nearby for tea and snacks, and clean bathrooms are also available. Bathing at the waterfall is comparatively safe, and steps are provided to climb up for better views and photos. Payments are cashless, so only UPI or cards are accepted. Overall, it’s a well-maintained place and worth visiting. The best time to go is early in the morning. The falls open at 8 AM.

We recently visited Palaruvi Waterfalls, and it was an amazing experience! From the ticket counter, it’s about a 3 km ride to the falls, and visitors are taken there by the park’s bus service since private vehicles aren’t allowed. The waterfall offers a stunning view, and bathing in the cool, refreshing water was truly enjoyable. There are changing rooms available for women, which is very convenient. The area does have quite a few monkeys, so it’s best to keep an eye on your belongings and avoid taking food outside. The place wasn’t too crowded, making it perfect for a peaceful trip with family or friends.

Paal means milk and aruvi means waterfalls .A Refreshing experience worth the travel. This is located in Kerala and very well maintained(Unlike the several badly maintained falls in Tamilnadu). To protect our environment, Plastic Bottles and eatables are not allowed.The vehicle by which we travel has to be parked and all visitors need to travel 2 to 3 kms in the Forest department buses which is mandatory. The staff were very courteous as we waited in the queue and were making us comfortable. The view was stunning but involved climbing a path ! Can't bathe directly under the strong flow . A small area where we can take a dip in the cool, flowing waters was very refreshing !

Nice place to visit, Well maintained by the Kerala Forest Department. Friendly staff in guiding us too. Amble parking space. The transportation arranged is also good. The only drawback I saw here is the wait till me for transportation when we return back. People coming in groups keep on coming at different times and these people kept on entering in between the queues increasing the waiting times of the people already waiting there ,.especially the elder people and people with kids . I would humbly request deploying more staff on thr waiting area to avoid such situations, so as to ensure the smooth functioning of this tourist place.

One of the oldest lighthouses in Kerala, it holds history from the time of the British East India Company. Both an elevator and stairs are available to reach the top. The view from the top is worth the journey and ticket amount of 20rs.😀

Worth a stop on the way up north to Alappuzha for only 20rpi. Worth noting there is a ticket office for the fun park , so make sure you go up the road to the actual light house entry gate. Founded in 1902 this is one of two lighthouses in the Kollam area. After to begin showing cracking in 1930, this lighthouse was strengthened by A.N Seal in 1940. This 120+ year old light house will provide stunning views over Kollam and the Indian Ocean

A Historic place in kollam. Well maintained renovated lighthouse. Evening view is mesmerizing. They are charging an entry fee of र20 for adults, र10 for children(3-12) and senior citizens and र50 for foreign citizens. There is an extra fee of र10 for taking photos.You have to keep the footwear outside before entering the lighthouse. Monday is a holiday. There is a children's park in the compound And a small refreshment shop there. Unofficial parking fee is too high that's collected by a lady whose home is near to the lighthouse.

What a beautiful light house it is, with a lift inside to make our effort of walk easy to reach the top. Beautiful view of the whole thamarassery area and kollam. 20rs is the admission fee for one person and 10 extra for using the camera. 10min is allowed maximum if there is rush to spend on the top. Otherwise 10-15 is maximum allowed. Try to take the stairs instead of lift, if you want to burn some calories😜

Awesome views from the top and yes there is an elevator so we has to climb only a few stairs ! The sunset view would be spectacular but it closes at 6 pm .However the walking path also gives a great view .

Agasthiyar falls are on the way from Papanasam temple to the dam area. One has to walk 500 m to get to the falls from the parking area. Most of the people going there take a bath in the falls. A separate bathing area and dress changing facility is provided for women. Overall a nice picnic spot. It was good but they allow only up to 5 pm. Overall it was nice place to spend some time. Water was clean and there is a special Siva temple which should be visited... the water falls was not a very big one. separate bathing area for gents and ladies.ladies crowd also large and ladies area also small. for gents it quite large and crows also less. the area not so neat.weekends will be crowded.water flow was good when we went on august.the road from papanasam checkpost will be narrow and hilly.probablity of trafiic jam during weekend is very high. we had 2 hours of jam. beware of monkey. only two small hotels are there near the falls. during break fast they serve poori and idly and lunch only tomotto rice and curd rice. dont miss kalyana theertham the path way is not neat. but the view point is good and temple above is very divine.

Small Fort. No entry fee. There is no much inside, just a grassland to walk around, hardly 10 mins to complete it. Because of the illegal construction behind the fort, the great view of the ocean from the fort is lost. No parking and have to use street parking and streets are very narrow. Light house near the fort has a great view. When I visited it was Zero crowd.

The fort isn’t very big and there isn’t much to explore inside. However, the place is clean and well maintained, making it a pleasant short visit. Good for a quick stop if you’re nearby, but not worth a long detour.

I recently visited Anjuthengu Fort and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! This historic coastal fort, one of the earliest British settlements in India, is a hidden gem near Varkala. The entry is completely free, which makes it an excellent stop for budget travelers. The fort is impressively well-maintained, with clean premises and well-preserved structures that offer a fascinating glimpse into its colonial past. The serene seaside location adds a tranquil vibe, with beautiful views that make it a great spot for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The only drawback is the parking situation. The lack of a dedicated parking area means you have to park along the narrow road, which can be challenging and sometimes leads to traffic congestion. Adding a small parking space would make visits much smoother. Despite this, the fort is well worth a visit for its historical charm and scenic beauty. Highly recommend if you’re in the Anchuthengu area!

It's a place of historic importance where the first revolt against the British began from Kerala. It also houses a few tombstones. The name "Anjuthengu", a Malayalam British word, literally means "five coconut trees". Entry is free. It is maintained by the Kerala government. There's no parking in front of the entry gate.

This fort holds significant historical importance relating to Kerala's freedom struggle. The fort is small, with a well-maintained lawn area that provides a pleasant, green space to relax. The real treat, though, is the view from the ramparts! A quick climb up the stairs rewards you with a fantastic, breezy ocean view. Entry to the fort is free. Just be aware that there is no dedicated parking space, vehicles have to be parked along the roadsides. For the absolute best scenery, head over to the nearby lighthouse .From there, you get a stunning panoramic vista: the vast ocean on one side and a serene lake on the other. It’s the perfect spot to capture some incredible photos!

Anjuthengu Fort is a small historical site with free entry. It provides a quick look into colonial-era history but doesn’t offer much beyond the basic structure. My visit was average; I hoped to climb the lighthouse for panoramic views, but unfortunately, it was closed. Worth a short stop if you’re nearby, but adjust expectations—especially for the lighthouse.

Once you visit, you’ll realize it’s truly worth the trip. The journey takes you through lush, green landscapes with dense forests flanking both sides of the road. As you arrive, the dam greets you with two distinct views. On the lower side, you’ll find the shutters, a beautifully designed bridge, a children’s park, and other recreational spots. The upper side, in contrast, offers a serene atmosphere—remarkably calm even with over a hundred visitors present at the time. Nearby, there’s a Forest Department office, a cafeteria, and a crocodile park—though the latter could certainly benefit from better maintenance. One of the most exciting features is the variety of boat trips available within the dam, including a longer safari-style excursion. Overall, the experience is enjoyable and memorable. However, it’s hard to ignore the missed potential. The tourism department appears to be underperforming, especially given the vast opportunities available to develop the area into a major attraction. Right now, it feels like a beautiful title waiting for the poem to be written. A sincere request to the government: show the commitment and vision needed to transform this naturally gifted location into a world-class destination for travelers from around the globe.

Neyyar wildlife sanctuary has boating service along with elephant visits, deer visits, crocodile visits. Ticket fare is 100rs per adult. It's a very good view through the boat. The park has 2 elephants of one male and one female, lot of deers and you can see monkeys too. There will be guide who guides you and also convey all the information regarding park and animals. In the area where crocodiles are placed, has a python too. Each crocodiles are kept in separate cage. When you move forward you can go to the neyyar dam. A watch tower, dam, children's park, aquarium, swimming pool are provided. As all those near by, it will be a good spot.

Neyyar Dam is a great place to go to free our minds when we have free time in the Thiruvananthapuram district.If you go during the rainy season, all the shutters are open and it's fun to see the water coming through. This is a couple friendly place and can be a family friendly place too, but it takes a while. 1. Couple friendly 12 to 4 . This is a great place for couples to get their own freedom. 2. Family 9 to 12 and 4 to 6 It's a great time to come and enjoy with the family. There is also a swimming pool right there for an hourly fee. That's also a good experience. Nice place situated near to Neyyar dam. We visited after rainy season so that there was water in the reservoir. There is no lion safari now. It is closed and there are no lions now. Picturesque views. We could able to see parts of hills from agastyarkoodam, kurishumala etc. There were three packages available. We took package-1 which covers deer park,crocodile park,elephants (1 big and 1 young one) and boating for 1 hour at 2900/-. Guides were there inorder to provide the information all the time. Boating was so good with panoramic views. Only 2-3 crocodiles are there in the crocodile park. We have to walk through a small narrow forest path unordered to see the deer park which was nice. We heard from one of the employee that all the lions are dead so that they have to shut down the safari. Earlier at a point, there were 16 male lions and it was difficult to feed them. And there were no profit from the sanctuary also. So one doctor approved for the sterilization procedure which made them infertile. It was a sad story.

The dam is surrounded by forested hills and a vast reservoir that glows beautifully in the evening light. A walk through the nearby park or simply sitting by the water feels calming. The boat ride across the reservoir adds a touch of adventure, taking you to the Lion Safari Park and Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre. While these spots may not be high-end, they offer a raw and unique experience, especially for families or first-time visitors. Neyyar isn’t about grand sights or adrenaline; it’s about pausing, watching, and breathing. It’s best visited on a weekday for a quieter experience. There are limited food options, so carrying your own snacks and water is a good idea. If you’re looking for a simple, refreshing day surrounded by nature, Neyyar Dam is well worth a visit. During monsoon this place offers a completely different experience than that of the summer. Facilities are mostly minimal and the central view tower definitely needs some better management. Also thats the same situation of the parks, can be maintained well, with proper land management and maintenance. If you are someone who enjoys a view its a great place. There is also a KTDC restaurant right next to the dam. I hope they have accommodation facilities too as they had a decent menu. Prices seemed reasonable and can be subjective. There is also an aquarium that has a ton of fish species, and there are some giants too, giants in a sense as if they weigh over 50kgs. It has a seperate ticket counter. I believe it was the first fish aquarium in india or asia. The lighting and interior ambience during monsoon is very dull and moody, but i hope it will be better during the summer. The structure is also comparatively better considering a public building, its not great in terms of aesthetics but is definitely good in terms of flow, movement and exhibit placement. I liked that one. It also has some huge ponds outside the building close to its perimeter that has some large koi fishes. Overall a good place for a one day trip, and it’s always better to visit and leave early. Check with the authorities for official timings.

Went on a weekday. No so much crowded, but yes it's a tourist place so there'll be crowd especially on Sundays. The ticket price google mentioned (200/-) is dfor foreigners and the ticket price for Indians is only 40(for adults). I only support zoo when they can provide better facilities for animals that they can't get them on forest. But I'm not sure about here, because most of the animals are always lay down like they don't have enough health, especially the lion,tiger & cheetah(pythons too). It seems they can barely walk. On the other hand the bear,deer, and hippos seems pretty healthy. So I'm not sure, maybe it's the time I went there. The main problem is you can't clearly see most of the birds, I'm not sure till why they don't use glasses for clear visibility rather than the small grill, that you can barely see them. The white tiger was a suprise and he/she/they/them whatever was actually stunning. Most of the cages were empty (I'm actually glad for that). A 20 min walk through a"made up jungle" is actually good. The staffs always clean the place but be careful of the tree branch. The snakes non of them are even moving, I'm not sure if they alive or not for some reason. Anyway yeah as I mentioned earlier if you can provide better facilities for animals yes it's a good initiative. Unless it's cruelty.

The zoo was decent but had a limited variety of animals. The deer and porcupine enclosures were quite crowded, making it hard to get a good view. Some of the reptiles were not present. The layout could be better managed for visitor flow. Kids still enjoyed spotting the few animals around. Overall, an average experience that could improve with better space and crowd management. The entry fee for family is ₹100.

We visited at around 5-something in the morning, and I’m grateful we did. This is one of those places where you feel the sanctity the moment you step in. Dress code (very strict, please read): As a foreigner, be prepared to dress traditionally. For women, a sari is best; if not possible, wear a kurta/top with a dhoti wrap below (no stitched pants). For men, dhoti/mundu is required and upper body bare is customary inside the inner areas. Jeans or any pants are not allowed. If you arrive unprepared, you can buy a dhoti at the counter. Even the police/security were in traditional attire when we went—everyone follows the code here. Phones & bags: No phones or electronic devices are allowed inside. There’s a counter/clockroom to deposit them, with strict checks at entry, so travel light. Tickets & queues: There is entrance fee, but be ready for long queues for darshan of Śrī Padmanabha (Lord Viṣṇu in reclining form).
